* When one of the contestants who has, in the course of his two episodes on the show, grated on everybody's nerves, started calling out the ingredients.
--> '''Ted:''' ''[flatly]'' Chris, let me do that.
* Upon seeing graham crackers in the basket for the appetizer round, one contestant exclaimed, "The crackers kill my life!"
* While explaining a dessert made when tofu was in the basket:
--> '''Contestant''': I used to make a similar dessert when I worked at vegan dining facility.\
'''Marc Murphy''': Is this health food?\
'''Contestant''': It's not ''bad'' for you...\
'''Ted''': Don't tell him that! Tell him there's a stick of butter in it!
** And it turned out that there actually ''was'' a stick of butter in the recipe! The contestant had added it to soften up the Mexican chocolate that was in the basket.
* In the second judges' episode, one of the shelves in the fridge breaks, causing things to fall all over the floor. Chris Santos remarks that he "broke the pantry."
** And then when he flat-out ''runs away'', Geoffrey Zakarian telling him to "go back and fix it!", Santos yells "HELL NO!" and cracks up the rest of the competitors.
* The appetizer round of the teen chefs episode has three of the chefs crowding around one of the plates to see what they did, and just having a good time.
* In the Season 3 ''Chopped Champion'' finale, chef Jun Tanaka admits that his first exposure to cooking was when, growing up as a kid, his mother ran/taught a baking class to housewives out of their kitchen, where he spent most of his time hiding under the kitchen table and looking at the women's legs.
* Robert Irvine was in one of the celebrity episodes, and was positively disgusted with the presence of BrandX Fruit Loops as an ingredient. He doesn't even open the box like a normal person--he takes a gigantic butcher's knife and effectively guts the box to access the cereal. Even the other judges can't help but react to the sight of this talented chef showing his opinion of the ingredient.
* In an all-fried-foods episode, one contestant puts canned chickpeas in hot oil before they're thoroughly dried. The water in them vaporizes rapidly enough to send oil spattering all over his stovetop. Amanda Freitag promptly delivers a PSA to one of the cameras, smiling the entire time:
--> '''Amanda:''' Be careful when frying at home. Don't use liquidy items in hot oil. Thank you.
* Pretty much ''all'' of the installments of ''Chopped: After Hours'', especially when Ted encourages the judges to try and sabotage each other.
** In the first season episode of the spin-off, "Chopped: After Hours," Ted starts snooping on Scott Conant's cellphone and discovers that Scott got crowned Prom King in high school, and Ted and the other judges start joking about Scott being "royalty"--Ted even puts a fake crown made of gold-colored paper on Scott's head.
* The 2013 Halloween episode, which featured one chef who seemed [[CloudCuckoolander sincerely convinced that he'd been left on Earth by aliens.]] This was even better when he decides to melt a green, gummy candy skull, one of the basket ingredients, and it does end up looking like an alien's head.
** There was also Chef Sharon, who states that she hates Halloween the second Ted asks her about it. Also when the aforementioned chef starts describing his close encounter, she does the sign of the cross, clearly worried for him.
* On one of the 2014 Chopped Teen tournament episodes, the dessert round is just about to start, but Ted slips up and says they have "Thirty seconds on the clock." When one of the competitors (a girl named Lucy) points this out, the music stops, complete with a {{record scratch}}, and Ted goes "Oh. Oh, shoot! Good catch!"
* In one episode, a middle-aged female contestant opens a bottle with her teeth. Cut to Scott admitting: "That was kind of hot!" and Alex beside him giving the most epic did-you-ACTUALLY-just-say-that look of all time.
* There have been a few episodes themed around using ingredients that are normally discarded -- a very worthwhile concept. In one such episode, the first ingredient in the dessert round was the skin and core of a pineapple, and the camera ''perfectly'' caught judges Aarón Sánchez and Marcus Samuelsson all but dry-heaving at the sight. Good luck chefs!
* On the show's first ever couples competition (titled "Double Trouble"), an ingredient in the appetizer round is Rocky Mountain oysters (which are actually bull testicles, for those who don't know).
--> '''Alex:''' You'll notice every man in the couple is handling the meat.\
'''Scott:''' It's because the balls are taken away from them very early in the relationship, and it's just nice to see them again.
* In one of the Chopped: All-Stars episodes, where famous chefs are competing for charities, one of the entree ingredients is single-serve coffee pods, like the kind the come in Keurig coffee makers. A near minute is spent on all three of the contestants contemplating them in horror/bewilderment.
--> '''Contestant:''' I am competing for charity. Why you give me this?
* During the Hot Pepper challenge episode, Aaron Sanchez comments that the dish could have used more habanero (one of the basket ingredients). The other two judges (Zakarian and a guest judge) are eating the appetizer and say that no, it has just the right amount of heat to prevent it from overpowering the other ingredients. Sanchez shoots an incredulous ''"whatever, you guys"'' look over to them. Cue the next contestant (a Malaysian immigrant) who didn't think the habanero was spicy by her standards, and all three judges (Sanchez included) [[FireBreathingDiner are practically smoking out their ears.]]
* In the third of five in the "Pros vs. Joes" Chopped Ultimate-championship, which was the "Amateurs"-episode, two of the contestants were one of the dads from the Fathers Day-special and one of the grandmothers from the "Grandma vs. Grandma"-episode, and they actually got into a fight over the grill. Keep in mind he’s a firefighter who’s a full head taller than her. (The grandma ended up getting it and they both made it to the final round, and the dad won).
** As the judges watched this Scott actually said he was betting on Elda to be the victor.
** In the final part of that five episode-arc, the same dad almost got into another fight over the same grill, but this time it was with Laila Ali--who happens to be one of the daughters of Muhammad Ali ''and'' who also spent part of her life working professionally as boxer, just like her own dad did. The guy later admitted that for as much as he wanted the grill, there was no way he was getting into a fight with Muhammad Ali's daughter.
* In an episode where all the contestants were college students, one of the contestants was a girl who was a senior at the University of Washington in Seattle, and she was only 18--when she first reveals this to Ted and the judges (two of whom were Marc Murphy and Chris Santos), they're obviously a little confused by this, since 18 is the usual age for people just ''starting'' college. The girl explains that she had skipped a few grades in school and wound up starting college when she was only 15. Marc jokingly said to Ted and the other judges (mainly Chris), "Bet you feel like a dumbass now."
* The Thanksgiving episode from season 22 has this exchange:
-->'''Aaron:''' (incredulously) Are you eating a taco with a knife and fork?
-->'''Geoffrey:''' Yeah, I am.
-->'''Aaron:''' No, you're not. Stop it.
* In the dessert round of part 1 of "Chopped: Impossible", one of the contestants is making a tuile (a type of wafer cookie that can be sweet or savory), and tries making it on the stove, but doesn't have enough leverage to properly flatten it. What does she do? She gets another baking sheet to put on top of the tuile mix, puts that on the floor and then ''uses her bodyweight to flatten it by standing on it''. Ted and the judges notice this and are obviously a little confused by this, but also seem to find it funny that she's doing this.
* In an episode called "Better Saffron than Sorry," while the contestants are hanging out in that area they go to when they get done with a round, one of the chefs says, "At least they didn't give us something like lamb testicles." And guess what one of the ingredients in the second round basket is? ''Lamb fries (testicles)''.
* In an episode called "Momumental," [[CaptainObvious where all the contestants were moms]], a basket ingredient in the second round was carrot ''baby food''. The moms were obviously a little surprised/confused to see it, with one of them claiming that she hadn't seen (let alone ''used'') baby food since her own kids were babies (and this mom had previously mentioned having two kids who were, at the time, teenagers). Alex Guarnaschelli, one of the judges in that episode and who also happens to be a mother herself, admitted that the only times she herself has ever actually tasted baby food is when her daughter had thrown it at her while she was eating.
* Alton Brown is ''always'' good for a for a few of these, and his five-part special had no lack of them.
** Admitting that he put the whammy ingredients like kimchi and cocoa nibs in the basket because "I wanna watch people suffer."
** Cackling like a madman while walking out with a fire extinguisher and blowing bits of dry ice in the air.
---> "Look, it's snowing!"
** And hanging a big old {{Lampshade}} on the FoodPorn trope during the finale's dessert round by likening Alex Guarnaschelli's description of a contestant's dessert to something he'd hear on a phone sex line.
* The firehouse chef episode in July 2018. One of the contestants (son of a Liberian immigrant) joked that men of his tribe have trouble finding wives, because they liked to cook too much. Guarnaschelli joked back that she'd love to have the "problem" of a man who would cook for her.
--> '''Chef Monkonjay''': [[RefugeInAudacity Are you married?]]
* As mentioned on the main page, Alex has a tendency to wear the exact same expression on her face no matter what she's saying. In the first round of "Naan the Wiser", this leads to a fun moment when she compliments one of the chefs with a hilariously straight face and flat tone:
--> '''Alex''': I totally love this dish. That's it. It's delicious.
* During the spinoff, ''Chopped Junior'', they did a special series where the winners of the first three episodes would judge the normal judges in the fourth. While also a big SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome for the three kids, the thought of a bunch of Pre-Teens judging professional chefs is worth a laugh.
