''America's Funniest Home Videos'' pretty much runs on this trope. It'd take forever to try and find every funny moment, considering [[LongRunners how long]] this show's been on the air, but here is just a few moments that stick out.
----
* On the pilot episode, there was a video of a bunch of guys playing football in the backyard. A big man picks up the ball and decides to crash through the fence with it.
* '''''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZgMNJYxit0 "WASH MY BODY!"]]'''''
* The infamous [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9r9aONp0Uk&t=8m34s hornet's nest video]] from ''Nincompoop-a-Rama''.[[note]]The video shows a man throwing apples at a hornet's nest just to see what happens. He misses the first two times, then gets a direct hit on the third to predictable results. There's an "IQ Meter" at the top-left of the screen that slowly descends as he continues throwing apples--when he successfully hits the nest, it's ''rapidly'' shooting down to zero.[[/note]]
* The OverlyLongGag of a little girl singing "Mary Had A Little Lamb" (Well, the first few words at least). Creator/BobSaget's reaction is [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpnlam8g_Ms priceless.]]
* A video was shown featuring a guy "head-butting" horseshoes. The first time, his helmet fell off. The second time, his friend said "[[OhCrap Wait, the helmet]]!"--this show loves AmusingInjuries. It's the loud "DING!" that is heard when the guy is hit by the horseshoe that seals it.
* A Tom-era finalist involved a little girl trying to sing along to "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer". You know the parts of the song where you're supposed to shout out "Like a [something relavent]"? Well, the only one she knew was "like a light bulb!", and she used it ''every'' time.
--> ''Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, you'll go down in history!''\
'''Girl''': Like a light bulb!
* One time on an episode with the 'slow-mo gizmo' during the Tom Bergeron era they showed a clip with a video camera falling over, not funny in and of itself, until Tom freezes the clip right when the dad while pushing off on his son [[GroinAttack manages to grab his son's crotch]]
-->'''Tom''': Check out the grip! *entire audience erupts* Right now the chance of him ever having grandkids is decreasing exponentially.
* Another episode with the slow-mo gizmo showed three guys ''riding a couch down a road''. And ''it actually'' '''''slides down it'''''--until it hits a curb and the guys all fall off of it. (Don't try it at home!)
* On one episode, Tom announced that he would introduce the next set of clips in the fashion that they would be presented — backwards. He then proceeded to do some gibberish that sounded like talking in reverse, before walking off-set backwards.
* The time when Tom just sat in the audience, this woman is laughing hysterically at him, and ''that's it''. [[OverlyLongGag For quite a while.]] And Tom has the cheek to mouth "I'm not doing ''anything''" towards the camera.
* One episode showed a video in which a child shuts a piano cover down...on his mother's hands.
* One video shows a guy clad in only white underwear jumping into a pool without the ladder, resulting in the pool exploding and all the water flowing against the grass.
-->'''Tom:''' Nothing says "refreshing" like tighty-whiteys and a homemade pool.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPC47JsQpDg One video]] showed a sign that said "ADULT VIDEO". The camera then zoomed out to reveal a billboard placed next to it that said "Jesus is watching you"! (This was a $10,000 winner.)
* Perhaps the best pinata clip features no violence whatsoever. The children manage to bust open the pinata, only to discover that there's nothing in it. The mother then says "Oh, they don't come with candy? You mean I have to buy it myself?"
** Another unconventional pinata clip that's as heartwarming as it is funny has a little girl heartbroken by the sight of a dog-shaped pinata being broken open (doesn't help that the butt took the most damage). She tearfully claims it as her own, declaring '''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4Sfg1BHAZQ "I love him!"]]'''
* As guys race riding mowers around a farmyard and one crashes into the side of a building after a misguided jump, Tom quips "Call me a snob, but I just never cared for the chase scenes on ''Series/GreenAcres''!"
* The entire "[[Music/TheKinks Picture Book]]" montage from the December 4, 2005 episode. Highlights include:
** A girl giving a GroinAttack to her dad with her fist,
** A dad getting slapped while picking up something from a table, then the kid SLAPPING HIM AGAIN,
** A woman falling through a chair,
** A boy sharing his popsicle with his sister, and she sucks off every last bit of it,
** And a bottle rocket failing to go in the sky and instead fly to a kid's crotch.
* Another highlight from the December 4, 2005 episode is the video of a kid opening a model car present. The actual car inside? It was actually a live snake. The kid's reaction to the snake is priceless.
** Could it be that he asked for a [[{{Pun}} Cobra]]?
* Another is a girl waking up her dad via PainfulBodyWaxing.
-->'''Tom:''' To quote ''Film/TheKarateKid''......WaxOnWaxOff.
* A woman, attempting to be sexy while singing karaoke, walks into the camera and makes it fall down and go black.
-->'''Tom:''' She's got the rockstar thing down, both the dos and the don'ts.
* Camera blackness and breakage seems to be a favored aspect of the show, as evident by the end of the December 11, 2005 "[[Film/DumbAndDumber If You Don't Love Me (I'll Kill Myself)]]" montage.
* "When it comes to karaoke, even gravity's a critic." Cue the background behind the guy falling while he tries to sing.
* One video showed a guy working on some wires. When he cut one, ''the [[EpicFail power went out.]]''
-->'''Man:''' Son of a [BLEEP]!
* A kid is shown wearing a dinosaur costume... with the tail stuck [[GagPenis in his front]]. He keeps, ahem, banging on it in order for the tail to get back in its normal position.
* "Watch out! It's a FLABALANCHE!!!!!!!!!"
* In one video, an elderly man introduces a prank in which he places a coyote when they open the machine. The last clip features a woman who refuses to open the lid because she falls for this sort of thing all the time. So she makes her husband open it. She is still visibly alarmed by the jumping coyote.
* "Is it a coincidence that you can't spell 'assembly' without the word......'[[SubvertedTrope embly]]'?
** Tom then introduces the next set of videos by saying that they feature people making "emblies" out of themselves.
* A low-budget school puppet show goes awry, resulting in the simple plastic-pipe stage collapsing. Tom comments: "We now return to ''PVC Theater''...I don't mind when they [[BreakingTheFourthWall break the fourth wall]] -- but ''every'' wall?"
* A video on their [=YouTube=] channel that shows two guys pulling off the infamous Diet Coke + Mentos experiment in a rather creative way (close the bottle with the Mentos inside and then smack it on the ground). The bottle flies up and proceeds to knock the cameraman ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZvErJ-esFA in the face]]''.
* In one video, a girl is shown watching the infamous [[ScreamerPrank K-fee zombie car commercial]]. She reacts by throwing her phone against the wall.
* One recurring clip shows a toddler playing with his toy golf kit. After a bit, his mother asks him if he can play golf like his daddy. He hits a golf ball...and tosses the club with a loud: "'''[[PrecisionFStrike DAMN IT]]!'''"
-->'''Tom''': Parenting Tip #173: Remember, children learn from example.
* One of the show's most memorable moments had a kid jumping up on top of the family's refrigerator in an attempt to, according to Bob's "commentary", to scare his mother in a prank. After realizing that his father was with her, he tried to jump off of the fridge...[[HumiliationConga only for him to get his shorts caught on the door, causing it to tip over at an angle and having all the food fall out of it.]] In the end, his dad had to help him get free.
* A woman approaches her dog with a birthday cake piece, while singing "Happy Birthday". During the song, the dog sits up and knocks the cake plate to the ground, causing the cameraman to burst out laughing. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_DzpTyH5NE&t=1m50s Clip.]]
* In one of Tom Bergeron's final episodes, Tom spots a woman in the audience who has fallen asleep.
* This gem from Bergeron's ''last'' episode as host:
-->"I've hosted AFV for 15 years. [[BlatantLies That's half my life.]]" ''(audience laughs, [[DeathGlare Bergeron scowls at them)]]''
* There's a clip where a woman is freaking out, screaming and acting like she's being attacked. And she is…by a finch. Then, when the bird flies after her son, she screams "OH GOD! DANNY, RUN!" before yelling at her other son "SAVE YOUR BROTHER!"
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0UI0WRZ15c A Chuck E. Cheese birthday party]] gone [[GroinAttack horribly wrong]]. "Every now and then, even a big mouse needs a little time out." ($10,000 winner)
* A Saget-era video (good enough to turn up again in the Bergeron era) had a family watching the ''Hall of Presidents'' attraction at Walt Disney World. The Abraham Lincoln animatronic malfunctioned in the middle of the show and as he spoke, he bent backwards as if he was doing the limbo!
* A clip about an American Revolutionary war reenactment had a family meeting with British redcoat actors. One of the soldiers asked a little girl who the king was. The girl answered [[Music/ElvisPresley "Elvis?"]] to the amusement of the soldiers.
* "Pop Go My Trousers": A clip featuring a boy pumping a balloon that he stuffed in his pants. He inflates it too much, causing it to break and he [[GroinAttack keels over in pain.]]
* One finalist video from 2010 features a family on Christmas morning. As the son opens one present, he and his father playfully whack each other with the wrapping paper, escalating into the son whacking the dad on the head with the still unopened gift itself. The dad doubles over in pain, and the son opens the present to discover that it contained a [[FryingPanOfDoom frying pan]].
-->'''Tom''': If you're going to be hitting people with your presents, it helps to open them first.
* Even the John Fugelsang/Daisy Fuentes era had its moments. In the intro to the sentimental old-man-and-his-dog clip "Grandpa and Max", John comments that the clip is so heartwarming that anyone cynical and cold-hearted should avoid it. So Daisy immediately ''gets up and walks offscreen''. As he then adds that it might turn said cynical hearts, however, she slowly leans back into the shot, curious...
* One clip had the family as usual talking about how they lost their tv remote awhile ago. They unwrap one of the gifts....and find both the gift AND the old tv remote inside!
* Many of the show's slingshot ride videos, such as [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYgEn_xQQKI&pp=ygUPc2F2ZSBtZWUgamFuaWNl this popular recurring one]] with a boy who almost slips out and is riding with his aunt.
-->'''Boy''': Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!\
'''Aunt''': (Gleefully laughing)\
'''Boy''': [[SayMyName Janice!]] [[BrokenRecord I'm falling! Janice! I'm falling! Janice!]]
* A finalist video from 2019 shows a little girl announcing to her parents that she just cleaned her room all by herself for the very first time. Her parents find that her room is indeed spotless. The hallway just ''outside'' her room on the other hand....
* One of their newest youtube videos is titled "$1,000,000 worth of fails" among the things broken are two cars (the trailer carrying one somehow became detached and smashed into a neighbor's car off-camera), New teeth (a person banging a skateboard on concrete has the wheels come up and hit him in the mouth), several new windows, two new laptops (with some of the cost saying the old laptop needs therapy) and a new treadmill when a kid somehow breaks the handles off of one (it's actually an elliptical but still).
** The title later had to be changed because a massive argument and FlameWar happened, due to people arguing over ''[[ComicallyMissingThePoint how much the broken items shown would actually cost]].'' The arguing is so ridiculous it's hilarious.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oY8byod22ss This guy]], who performs the JeopardyThinkingMusic with a bicycle pump and hand farts.
** Another man performed the "Think!" music using a saw.
* One clip had a father teaching his young daughter how to count using flash cards. He holds up a card with "11" on it and because it looks like a button on a remote control, she identifies it as "The pause". And when Dad tries to correct her, she gives him a withering ''Really?'' look.
* One clip from Season 30 shows a couple leaving a cabin out into the ice and snow. The woman leaves so cautiously to avoid slipping that the man holding the camera jokes: "[[TemptingFate I hope you fall and I get it on tape!]]". A moment later, [[LaserGuidedKarma the man falls down]].
* The clip from the season 16 Christmas show (and probably featured in other episodes as well) of kids looking out the window... and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqTQSePDabQ&t=4m35s Santa abruptly pops his head into view outside, scaring them.]]
** In the same episode, the winning video was a girl who was afraid of her own shadow. The parents said that it took her a few weeks but she's not scared of it anymore; at this, Tom asked the girl if she could demonstrate but she got shy and started crying. Tom immediately felt guilty that he asked her to do it, and even subverted his own signing off catchphrase:
--> '''Tom''': And remember, [[SelfDeprecation if a stupid television host]] asks you to look at your shadow, tell him to buzz off. Good night, everybody! ''(mouths "I'm sorry!" to the girl)''
* A motion-capture doorbell catches a mailman as he faces off against [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITTDcuT9hys a turkey.]]
* A $10,000 classic, "Messiah on a Wire": A church play's climactic depiction of Christ's ascension to Heaven goes awry when the harness lifting the actor slowly starts to turn, revealing his undergarments. And he desperately tries to turn himself back to the audience as the choir sings and the smoke machine fumes!
-->'''John Fugelsang:''' Finally, the video that answers the question: Jesus -- boxers or briefs?
-->'''Tom Bergeron:''' He waited three days for '''this?'''
* A Bergeron-era music montage of rock musicians gone awry used the song [[Film/ThisIsSpinalTap "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight"]]! In the intro, Tom asked a lady in the front if she's heard of Spinal Tap. When she replies "No", he says in mock disdain "Well that's the end of ''that'' conversation!" and turns away!
* One Season 15 episode opened as such:
-->'''Tom''': Welcome to AFV. Tonight, we thought we'd try something a little bit different. No pratfalls, no unintentional crotch injuries, no flying pinatas. Just slow-motion video tranquility with background music supplied by Yanni.\
(''studio audience groans and begins walking out'')\
'''Tom''': ...'''''IT WAS JUST A THOUGHT!!'''''
* The way Tom sometimes describes the clips as if they're sentient:
--> '''Tom''': ''(at the end of one episode)'' Our clips are tired; they need their rest.
* At the end of the first $100,000 show of season 12, as is customary, Tom invited all the runners-up on stage with the winners during the credits. The way he described one of the runners up is funny:
--> '''Tom''': Dogs and... nose-less children alike. [[labelnote:Note]](referring to a video where a boy's father did "got your nose" on him)[[/labelnote]]
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1-MDOWJ0uU Godzilla toy vs. a dog.]]
* One video during the Bob Saget era had an infant standing in her playpen next to her father sticking his foot near her face. Bob said that the girl would wind up getting "Athlete's Face". [[LampshadeHanging She even scrunches her face in reaction]].
* Another Saget-era clip, so good it reran in the Bergeron era, had a little boy dressed up as ''WesternAnimation/{{Gumby}}'' for Halloween. Yes, it was cute, [[AwesomeButImpractical yes, it was difficult to walk in, and yes, the boy couldn't even ascend a single step in it.]]
--> '''Bob''': It took him one hour just to get into his Halloween costume and three hours just to get to the house next door.
--> '''Tom''': Ironically the Gumby costume isn't the least bit flexible!
* A family tries the "tie a string around a loose tooth and attach it to a door" trick. The door they use belongs to a kitchen cabinet with glass windows. The grandmother slams the door, shattering the glass. The person filming the video [[SkewedPriorities asks if the tooth came out]]. [[ShaggyDogStory It didn't]].
* The Saget Special in the 20th Anniversary. The chemistry between Saget and Bergeron is absolutely ''brilliant'', and Saget shows that he hasn't in any way lost his touch.
* In one episode of Nat Geo Wild's ''Animal Edition'' of the show, the episode counted down the "Top Ten Times [the animals] Were Less Afraid Than You Were" (i.e. people overreacting to animals being near them). The video chosen as the #1 pick involves a woman swimming frantically and hysterically screaming into her camera like a deadly animal is after her. The animal that has driven her into this panicked frenzy is a ''manatee'' (which, as both the woman's friends and Alfonso himself repeatedly point out, [[GentleGiant poses absolutely no threat to her whatsoever]]), whom the whole time does nothing but lazily swim by her without a care in the world.
* One clip has a guy waking up his two sons with a chainsaw. The mother filming reveals that they were watching ''Film/TheTexasChainSawMassacre1974''.
* One $10,000 winner from Season 19 shows a toddler-aged boy so excited to blow out the candles on his birthday cake that he blows them out before his family can even start singing "Happy Birthday to You", and even tries to blow out the lighter when they try to light the candles back. [[OverlyLongGag Multiple times.]] After several failed attempts, the kid figures out that the lighter lights the candles and ''grabs it to try to light the candles back himself'' (luckily it's immediately taken away from him before he can attempt to use it). Once the candles are lit again, the family speeds through the song before he finally blows the candles out. And according to the family after the video won, they had to do their darnedest to make sure he didn't blow out the candles on his older sister's cake when her birthday came around, too.
* The clip of the boy stacking bricks on a glass coffee table. The bricks crash through the glass, and the boy screams "Oh no! Our table! It's broken!" MemeticMutation aside, it's still funny in its own right.
* All three of the finalist videos of the 01/01/23 episode:
** First is a man who didn't realize he had left a very long trail of toilet paper from the bathroom all over the house until he sat down to eat.
** Second is a woman, affectionately known by her neighbors as the "mother-in-law", who pranks her neighbors by filming herself as she is the first to go down their new waterslide. It doesn't quite go as planned:
--->'''Woman''': Mother-in-law's gonna be the first down your slide!\
(''She climbs up and starts to slide down. Halfway down, the slide topples over with her still on it.'')\
(''beat'')\
'''Woman''': ...Mother-in-law broke your water slide!
** In the third video (which won the $20,000), a mom catches her young son having given his baby brother bright red eyebrows and red on the top of his head with a red marker. The reason? In the boy's words: "'Cause he hasn't got no hair!"
* During a wedding the bride tosses the bouquet sideways, who catches it? [[NunsAreFunny A nun!]]
