2	* Among the swamp critters from the first film is Old Grandpa, a turtle in a Confederate army cap. Given the very long lifespans that turtles can attain, it's possible he "actually witnessed" the U.S. Civil War.
3	* Penny's teddy bear could be a TragicKeepsake of her biological parents. That would explain why she doesn't want to be apart from it and why she freaked out when Medusa took it.
4	* Medusa's fixation on the Devil's Eye becomes brilliant when one realizes a gorgon's ability to turn people into stone comes from when someone lays an "eye" on their face.
5	* Orville's troubles with taking off and landing are true to life - albatrosses are so huge that they can only take off by sky-diving from a great height and land by crashing. It's almost impossible for them to take off from the ground.
6	* When Bernard freaks out about the 13th step on Orville's stairs, and Bianca advises him to jump over it, that makes the "'landing'" the 13th step instead. He should have thought to jump two of the earlier steps.
7	* Some Fridge Humor: the sequel came out 13 years after the first movie. [[ThirteenIsUnlucky Poor Bernard.]]

10	* We can hope that Penny was the "first" orphan Medusa abducted and sent into mortal peril, but we don't "know" for sure. Likewise, although it's not spelled out, it would have been unwise to let Penny tell anybody what was going on in the Bayou, and relatively simple (what with the easy access to shotguns and crocodiles) for Medusa to see to it that Penny told no tales.
11	** In her conversation with Penny in the scene before the latter meets the Rescuers, Medusa hints that she plans to abandon the child on the steamboat when she fulfills her mission and finds the Devil's Eye.
12	*** There's another level of Fridge Horror and, maybe, some Brilliance, as there's a reason she and Snoops sought out an orphan—no meddling parents.
13	*** Worse still, Medusa may have told Penny no one would ever want her because she intended to kill her along with Snoops (no witnesses after all). If anything, Medusa [[KickTheDog insulted Penny]] so she would be groomed to [[DespairEventHorizon resign to her eventual death]].
14	* How did the Devil's Eye, a relatively large diamond, end up in a man's skull in the pirate cave? As Bernard and Bianca find out, it's too big to fit through the eye sockets, and it barely comes out through the jaw after Penny pries it open with a sword. If the man swallowed it, it would've been in the remains of his stomach. The implications are horrifying.
15	* If the Rescue Aid Society was real, we could assume every kidnapped child that never turned up again or was found to have been murdered was because the secret underground mouse society either never learned about it or tried and failed to save the child.
