[[AC:Fridge Brilliance]]
* Why do the plants protect you from the zombies, instead of leaving you to your fate? Most plants in the game attack by shooting their seeds or spores at the zombies. Therefore, they're turning the zombies into fertilizer to grow more plants. Furthermore, if the zombies are [[{{Plague Zombie}} reanimated via a plague]], a virus that affects people is highly unlikely to affect plants as they belong to an entirely different taxonomic kingdom, making them safe from any infection.
* Dancing Zombie and Digger Zombie cannot appear on the Roof (with the exception of Co-Op Roof) because there's no soil for the former to SummonBackupDancers from and the latter to dig through.
* During the credits, and when a zombie breaches your defenses in your backyard, you can see a tricycle in the corner. Think about it: what kind of adult would just have a pink tricycle lying around in their backyard? This means that the person planting the plants (I.E: YOU) has a very young child in the house with them, explaining the reason you didn't just run from the house at first sight: [[VideogameCaringPotential you're trying to protect your child, and possibly your entire family, from the hordes of the undead, and it would be too dangerous to attempt an escape plan.]]
** Although the way the game acts about it, it seems Zombies are a common nuisance and commonly dealt with by a company that apparently monopolizes the anti-zombie plant market, escaping would just be impractical.
** To be fair, Crazy Dave is CRAAAAZY so it makes sense for him to have a tricycle considering it’s HIS.
* Some FridgeHorror to go with this. You know in 4-10, the zombies imitate your mother and request you to come over to her house? How would they eat your brains if you're not at your home? This can lead to six possibilities, all horrifying.
** They turned your mother into a zombie, and your zombified mother wrote the note.
** They're going for ''the other members of your family''.
** [[ItCanThink They're smart enough to try to pose as your mother]] (I mean, [[PaperThinDisguise they did not really succeed]], but at least they tried). Honestly, the fact that they would even ''try'' to pose as your loved one [[ParanoiaFuel is horrifying]].
** [[TakeAThirdOption Or they're hoping you leave and get you on the way.]]
** Considering the same note asks you to leave your lawn unguarded and your door unlocked, there has to be someone else in the house that they're after, otherwise they wouldn't bother with that request.
** Or they're planning to hide in your house and ambush you when you come back.
* In the "Zombies on Your Lawn" song, for each line sung by a zombie, Sunflower repeats the main subject of each line [[labelnote:eg]]''I used to play football (football)''[[/labelnote]]. The only one she doesn't repeat is Dolphin Zombie's, who sings "I'm going to eat your brains." Since Sunflower along with the other plants are obviously opposed to this, she instead sings "no no no no" in response.
* Loonboon sounds like an odd name for the mini-game music, but it actually isn't. Loonboon actually refers to LoonWithAHeartOfGold Crazy Dave — he's a loon (because he's CRAAAAZY) and a boon (since he helps the player). Hence, Loonboon.
* Think about the concept of the game: You're fighting zombies, living corpses, with plants and fungi — like decomposition! The zombies are a perversion of the natural order, and by creating the plant towers to destroy them, the player brings said natural order back. It's also a theme of life (which tends to be [[HopeSproutsEternal represented by plants]]) vs death (zombies being dead).
** Furthermore, both come out of the ground once something else is planted there (Plants being their seeds, Zombies being their dead bodies) and can turn other things into more of them with their death. (Plant growth thriving thanks to fertilizer, which includes decomposing flesh, and Zombies turning humans into more of them by eating their brains.) The Plants are the good counterparts of Zombies! The Plants don't kill people themselves, they simply use the flesh of those already departed to grow, while Zombies' whole prerogative is killing people to eat their brains and grow their numbers.
*** This also explains why fungi are classified as Plants; they're also part of this archetype, but the ones you use are closer to Plants than Zombies in that they don't actively kill people to thrive.
* Why do you think the Kernel-Pult can lob butter? Vegetable fat. 'Nuff said... Either that or because corn tends to be eaten with butter quite often.
* Why replace the Music/MichaelJackson zombie with a [[DiscoDan disco zombie]]? [[StealthPun Disco is dead.]]
* Crazy Dave isn't wearing a pot on his head because he's crazy; he's protecting his sweet, delicious brain from being eaten by zombies. This may be cause for an OhCrap moment later — right before the FinalBoss, a bungie zombie grabs Crazy Dave, and the pot falls off.
* Disco in ''[=PvZ=]'' seems to be a PopularityPolynomial, considering that it's become popular again in the future as seen by the Disco-Tron 3000.
** Think about it this way: The zombies rule the world in the Far Future, right? A notable number of them are still obsessed with disco, so if most of the world's population was zombies, the disco niche would expand in size to the point of becoming popular again.
* Just came to realise this: zombies lose their left arm (or right on certain occasions…) when they take enough damage. The left arm usually hurts first whenever a person starts to have a heart-attack. Coincidence?
** It's also possible they remember that they need to defend their heads from attack/how to surrender, and [[FridgeHorror therefore they put their hands up]] in a manner not animated onscreen (the Almanac's description of each species of plant/type of zombie as individuals would preclude taking out the arms first, since the plants would've seen zombies eat plants with just their mouths).
* The Jester Zombie can [[AttackReflector reflect almost all projectiles]]… except the Magnifying Grass' sunray shots, the Draftodil's air cannon blasts, and the Power Vine's electric bolts. It's pretty impossible to CatchAndReturn a projectile that isn't physically tangible. Despite this, it ''can'' reflect Citron's plasma balls, but not the Plant Food powered version.
* The plants' genders are sometimes confused, with a male plant referred to with 'she' or a plant referred to as female but has an Almanac entry that uses 'he' (not to mention some entries just use 'they' or just [[ItIsDehumanizing 'it']]). But a lot of plants have flowers that contain both or either male or female parts, and with multiple flowers per plant those flowers could contain any combination of such organs. With many such combos it is not hard to misidentify the plant's gender.
* Despite the Excavator Zombie's shovel clearly being a metal object, it can't be stolen by the Magnet-Shroom. It's made of gold, which is non-magnetic.
** ''However'', the Magnet-Shroom can be upgraded to collect silver and ''gold'' coins. Perhaps it has weak gold-attracting abilities that become amplified, which would also explain why it seems to be the one item that isn't separated from its zombie (that is, the zombie comes up with it instead of staying in place like ex-bucketheads, unmasked football zombies, or screen door wielders).
* Why isn't the Phat Beet affected by Boombox Zombie's boombox music? He's wearing headphones, so he can't hear the music from the boombox.
* It seems odd that the Breakdancer Zombie shares a Rap Jam ThemeMusicPowerUp with MC Zom-B, being the only zombies to share a preferred Jam. Not quite odd, as Breakdancing is usually danced to rap music. Furthermore, Rap music videos tend to have a rapper (MC Zom-B) and dancing performers (Breakdancer).
* Why do the dinosaurs only react to zombies and not the plants? They're used to seeing plants, as there were ''loads'' of plants around the Mesozoic Era. Zombies, on the other hand, yet alone bipedal humanoids, never existed, so of course the dinos would be terrified seeing such a strange race.
* In Jurassic Marsh, why can't the plants hurt the dinosaurs, yet can hurt the zombies? Because altering something from the past will cause a ButterflyEffect on the future. Jurassic Marsh Zombies, on the other hand, ''[[AnachronismStew don't]]'' belong in the time period, so it's ok to kill them without altering the course of history.
* Why does Dusk Lobber have the ability to fire three exploding buds at a go when powered up by Moonflower? It's based on a Prickly Pear Cactus, which are known for growing multiple buds on each "pad".
* In the Bible, sheep were associated with good and [[UnpleasantAnimalCounterpart goats were associated with evil]]. When hit by Wizard Zombie's and Rose's ForcedTransformation spells respectively, the plants (who are the good guys) get turned into sheep, and the zombies (who are the bad guys) get turned into goats.
* After Modern Day Day 16, notice the road signs saying 'STOP', 'WRONG WAY', and 'DEAD END' in the background? This is {{Foreshadowing}}, as to prevent [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Crazy Dave]] from [[TimeParadox ruining the timeline]].
* Why did Zomboss gave Crazy Dave a taco with a ''waffle'' on it after his defeat in Modern Day Day 34? Because he knew that Dave would cause a TimeParadox if he re-eats his original taco.
* It's pretty telling how the Octo Zombie is one of the [[DemonicSpiders most overpowered zombies]] in ''VideoGame/PlantsVsZombies2ItsAboutTime'' when ''Plants Vs Zombies: Heroes'' re-introduces him as one of the most powerful zombie teammates in the game — a legendary rare card with very useful abilities, in fact.
* In ''VideoGame/PlantsVsZombies2ItsAboutTime'', the dinosaurs were a nuisance who were helpful to the zombies until charmed. In ''VideoGame/PlantsVsZombiesHeroes'', we find out that the Zombies eventually managed to ''tame the Dinosaurs'' and get them to work as mounts. FridgeHorror kicks in when you realize that the zombies are smart enough to tame animals and use them as mounts!
* The second game has a leveling-up system through collecting seed packets. The player could be seeking for seeds in order to farm stronger plants. Those many seeds will become many plants, and those plants will be used to breed and find new varieties/traits. Through hard work and perseverance, the player successfully creates stronger varieties of the original plants.
* The [=ZCorp=] zombie lineup reverses Gargantuar and Imp's traditional roles; the Head Office Impgantuar is a massive Imp that smashes plants and throws a Gargimp Legal, the latter of whom is a smaller Gargantuar. However, the Impgantuar has less health than other Gargantuars, while the Gargimp has more health than other Imps. Of course they do! Impgantuar's body and limbs are still smaller and lankier than those of his counterparts, while Gargimp has a sturdier, more muscular body compared to his!
* When Jester reflects projectiles, he throws them straight forward in his lane. When Hammer and Nunchaku deflect projectiles, they send it right back where it came, even if it came at them at a different angle. Since Jester uses CatchAndReturn, he obviously has much greater control over where he sends it back, and he decides to throw it straight forward. But Hammer and Nunchaku use SpinToDeflectStuff instead, which means they can only really hit the projectile back to where it came with no greater control.

[[AC:Fridge Horror]]
* Partially a byproduct of re-used sound effects, a plant-munching sound can be heard when the zombies finally reach your house. However, this doubles as the sound of ''your skull'' getting munched by the zombies. You hear the BigNo AFTER that sound.
** As mentioned above, it is possible there is a young child in the house. What if the BigNo is you seeing the zombie eat your child?
* If you scroll down on the Achievements screen, you'll find a lot of {{ShoutOut}}s to other Creator/PopCap titles buried in the dirt... but go far enough, and you'll [[DiggingToChina find China]], also overrun by zombies. The game's bright colors and tongue-in-cheek style work to hide the fact that ''the entire Earth has succumbed to the ZombieApocalypse''. That's right, the world has ended and you didn't even stop to think about it.
** Or at the very least, the entire Earth is dealing with Zombies. After all, you're doing fine, and there's an in-universe company dedicated to producing anti-zombie weapons.
* When the zombies drop seeds, you don't even think about it. You just figure that they picked it up somewhere. But once you remember zombies recruit, that's when you realize, SOMEBODY HAS DONE THIS BEFORE. Lots of people have! The zombies carrying seeds were once fellow gardeners, whose brains have been eaten. You are just retrying what hundreds have done before you... and they all failed.
* There's a tricycle parked in the backyard (one of the zombies sings about it in the end). [[CensoredChildDeath Does that mean there's a little kid around somewhere?]] One who belongs [[NightmareFuel to your family?]]
** On another note, the zombies could have been alive for a while. And during that time, everyone could have been turned into a zombie. EVERYONE BUT THE PLAYER! [[NightmareFuelStationAttendant But hey, I'm not ruining your fun.]]
** [[ComicallyMissingThePoint But Crazy Dave is still alive....]]
** That's not much better, because that implies that Crazy Dave and the Player are the only humans left... ALIVE.
** The ChooseYourOwnAdventureNovel has another group of survivors, so there are at least isolated groups of survivors.
* The Far Future pretty much implies that [[TheBadGuyWins the zombies will win]], or is at least a BadFuture where they do. The description in earlier versions states that zombies have gotten brain collecting down to a science, the world itself is very bleak, and the music just sells the point.
* Anyone pay attention to Dave's dialogue before the battle against the Zombot Tomorrow-tron when Zomboss activates his hypnosis? Because it sounds eerily similar to the dialogue at the end of the tutorial...
* Crazy Dave finally gets his taco back, albeit with a waffle on it. One wonders if Dave ate the taco and then he wanted to ''eat'' it again, considering he had broken the time-space continuum...
* Just the fact that the zombies have working TimeTravel technology is this, being able to MakeWrongWhatOnceWentRight. It's even shown that they (specifically Zomboss) caused historical events such as [[PhlebotinumKilledTheDinosaurs dropping the meteor that killed the dinosaurs]].
* Other games in the series show that the zombies' crazy technology isn't a one-off thing. Besides time travel, they also have dimensional travel, a magnet that can drag the moon into causing a permanent eclipse, or a device that gives entities superpowers. Then, there's also the fact that ''they have magic'' too, like with the Wizard Zombie and Immorticia. This combination of science ''and'' magic makes the zombies potentially far more deadly than most other zombies in media, if not for most of their forces being dumber than bricks.
* Twin Sunflower's almanac entry is a little bit weird. Apparently, it was brought to life by "a crazed night of forbidden science." This is never explained, but there's a possibility that Zomboss might have something to do with it.
* Why on earth are there modern explorer zombies in Ancient Egypt? Or robot bulls in the Wild West? Three words: Dr. Edgar Zomboss. Think about it. He might also be the reason as to why there are zombies everywhere in time...

[[AC:Fridge Logic]]
* How on the world can a MASSIVE ZOMBIE ROBOT STAND ON A ROOFTOP WITHOUT IT COLLAPSING!?!?!
** How on Earth can said massive zombie robot constantly slam Winnebagos down on the roof without it collapsing?
*** How on earth can plants resist a zombie invasion? Rule of cool.
** Tingle's Law; Anything the developers do not want to break will not break, no matter how many times you hit it with your sword.
* When a headwear zombie steps on Spikeweeds/Spikerocks, their headwear takes damage instead of the zombie itself. Despite their ''[[AgonyOfDeFeet feet]]'' being stabbed by the spikes. So next time you have to tread barefoot on gravel, nails, burning coal, or broken glass, wear a helmet on your head?
** This one gets even more puzzling when you consider that zombies that carry shields in front of them (the Screen Door Zombie, the Ladder Zombie, and the Newspaper Zombie) take the damage instead of their shields taking damage when they walk over spikeweeds and spikerocks (they also take damage directly from any variety of lobbed-shot plants). How does headgear block damage from all directions when shields only block frontal damage?
** To kill a zombie, the head must be destroyed or cut off; that is why the headgear takes the damage.
* How on earth did [[MightyGlacier Gargantuar]] climb on the roof in the first place?
** Uh, there was a ladder… Either that, or Zomboss drops them off…
* In relation with the question above, how did the Zomboni AND the Catapult Zombie managed to climb to the roof? Speacially since they use vehicles instead of going on foot?
* How did any zombies get on the roof? They've already been repelled from both yards.
%%They could have climbed up the side - [[http://img.stpcdn.net/screenshots/plants_vs_zombies_hd_3.jpg looking at this]], it seems like the camera is situated in front of the house, the zombies are coming from the right side, and the chimney and defenses are on the left side.
%% Link needs replacing.
** You've repelled them from the front and back, but not from the side.
* How does a mighty Gargantuar get into your front door... or climb over your backyard fence... ...or go down your chimney......
* How can you actually water a plant that's on fire?
** Lampshaded in the sequel's Zen Garden. When you water the Torchwood (or other fire-based plants, its fire disappears, it looks sad, then relights it. Although it would be easier to water it by the roots, as it's a tree…
** The aquatic plants [[note]]Lily Pad and Tangle Kelp[[/note]] don't exactly look thrilled when you water them either...
* It doesn't make sense that a zombie can pogo stick on ''spikes''.
** [[WildMassGuessing Unless...]] they're incredibly smart and can quickly calculate how to bounce off of the spikes like ComicBook/CaptainAmerica with his shield-math.
*** The spikeweed/spikerock can only hurt zombies that step on it and pop tires. Pogo stick zombie is immune to spikes because he jumps over them, while the other zombies can only walk on them.
* Dr. Zomboss has a gigantic brain, so why do none of the other zombies ever hunger for it? NoZombieCannibals.
** They want human brains.
* How does the Shadow-Shroom poison zombies, which are already dead and rotting to begin with? Even stranger is that it can also poison ''robots''...
** Mushrooms are the reproductive organs of fungi. The main section of the fungus is a network of threads that gain much of their nutrition by decomposing dead organisms. [[FridgeBrilliance Zombies are nothing so much as well-preserved, mobile, dead organisms.]] Therefore, the zombies are not being "poisoned" so much as "[[NightmareFuel eaten alive]]."
** The mushroom theory falls flat when you realize that a levelled Stunion, the Goo Peashooter and the Ail-Mint can also poison zombies despite none of them being mushrooms.
*** For the mushrooms, the poison speeds up the decomp of something already dead, while, for the robots, it corrodes them.
* How could the Shrinking Violet shrink Imps into oblivion, while the Imps that drives the Disco-tron 3000 and Gargantuar Prime doesn't?
* The Basic zombies of Sky City are all equipped with flamethrowers, and use them to try and destroy your house. however, they don't ever think to use them to burn the flying plants in their way.
* When it comes to zombies performing a DungeonBypass to skip all the way to the first column, what makes zombies like Digger and Prospector go backwards to take out defenses, while Ski Zombie is the only one to think of continuing forward?
