* Throughout the games, Kirby is known to live in a SugarBowl world, and the [[VileVillainSaccharineShow bosses]] he fights on a regular basis range from [[SealedEvilInACan Sealed Evil In Cans]] to [[EldritchAbomination Eldritch Abominations]]. Why are Kirby bosses so [[NightmareFuel nightmare-ish]]? Because Kirby lives in Dream Land! It makes sense that the bad guys would be the stuff of nightmares.
** Even beyond that, the dark situations that he ends up in, including what seems to be [[AfterTheEnd post-apocalypse planets]], also reflect the idea of nightmares taking over dreams. Kirby isn't just keeping Dream Land safe, he's straight up diving from the SugarBowl straight into the clutches of a KnightOfCerebus and kicking their tails to make the nightmares go away.
* Ever wonder what was up with all that blood in the final battle of ''VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand3''? That might traumatize/scar children. But the game is filled with so many difficult memory games and other puzzling challenges, the children may either get to the final battle at a later age, so the blood might not traumatize them as much, or RageQuit to avoid the blood entirely.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1M7kJASyoQ The commercial for]] ''[[VideoGame/KirbysAdventure Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land]]'' has somebody singing a parody of "Secret Agent Man" with animation fresh from ''Anime/KirbyRightBackAtYa''. Turns out that somebody is Ted Lewis, the voice of King Dedede and Escargoon in that anime. Since Ted sounds a bit like his Dedede voice in this ad, it can only be heard as Dedede singing his own [[TheHeroSucksSong hero sucks song]] about Kirby! Further supporting this theory, notice how, in the brief shot of Dedede, he's not moving his lips, and we don't hear Ted at that bit.
* Has anyone noticed how Kirby's power has been changing a little bit with each game? In the very first game, he didn't have any copy abilities, while he suddenly has a dozen or so in the next one. For the next few games, each ability is only able to do one thing, which is why he has similar ones like Fire/Burning, Ice/Freeze, Spark/Plasma and so on. Yet, as the games progressed, the redundant abilities are merged and then are further expanded. Then there's other abilities that have been changing over time too; like Backdrop becoming Suplex, both of which are obtained from Bugzzy, then going on into Beetle. And then there's abilities affected by his environment, like Water becoming Poison. On top of all that, Kirby seems to be learning how to copy complex abilities like Doctor and ESP. A sign of Kirby's growth, indeed!
* For those wondering why Miracle Matter can only be hurt by its current element and can be hurt with its own attacks because its shield that blocks all your normal attacks is permeable to whatever element it uses to attack Kirby with. When in fire form, its shields can be passed by fire so it can hit Kirby with fire, but Kirby sends the fire right back at it through the shield. The shield still blocks elements, just not the one needed to attack with.
* Several games where King Dedede, a penguin, was a major boss has him fought in cold environments. We have [[VideoGame/KirbysAdventure Rainbow Resort]], [[VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand3 Iceberg]], [[VideoGame/KirbysEpicYarn Snow Land]], some parts of [[VideoGame/KirbyMassAttack Dedede Resort]], and [[VideoGame/KirbyAndTheForgottenLand Winter Horns]] to name a few.
* Why is Tac's "return to Kirby" function on the same button as his "discard power" function? Because Tac is, of course, a thief, and the first rule of thieving is that no score is worth dying or getting caught for — the smart thief knows when to cut his losses and ''run'', so Tac naturally ditches anything that might weigh him down (like, say, Blade Knight's armor, or Sir Kibble's helmet) in his bid to retreat.
* Regarding HR-H, its two forms' suffixes in their names reflect their appearances. "H" could stand for "Humanoid," while "E" is a tad unclear… unless one accounts for the Japanese word for shrimp, 蝦 (''E''bi).
* A lot of people were annoyed by Dark Nebula being a very easy final boss. What some fail to realize is that Dark Nebula is ''meant'' to be easy. He's been sealed away from centuries, maybe even millennia. Such a long time must have weakened him greatly. Even when he's released, he has to take control of Daroach instead of fighting on his own. There's a reason why Kirby has to chase Dark Nebula after he leaves Daroach's body. He's ''running away''. He knows he doesn't stand a chance against Kirby in his current state. The fight is actually a last-ditch effort to get rid of his chaser.
* Daroach wearing a bell accessory around his neck could be a case of TruthInTelevision as in real life cats who are given bells by their owners become extremely stealthy from learning how to move around without setting off their bells. Daroach might have invoked this on himself since stealth is a big part to being a good thief.
* There's a theory based on evidence from the anime that Galacta Knight is a grown-up Kirby. This theory does have evidence in the games: [[VideoGame/KirbyPlanetRobobot Star Dream]] states that Galacta can destroy entire planets, yet Meta Knight can still beat Galacta. This wouldn't make sense unless Galacta was holding back. Also, the only beings that Galacta one shots (Star Dream and Parallel Nightmare) are both enemies of Kirby.
* In ''Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe'''s Magolor Epilogue, there are various sections of stages where Magolor needs to do his best to protect a magic bulb from attacking enemies. This may be a subtle example of GameplayAndStoryIntegration, where during this period when Magolor makes his HeelFaceTurn, he is learning the value of protecting something that isn't himself.

* The ''Franchise/{{Kirby}}'' series is probably the archetypal SugarBowl, a perpetually happy place filled with bright colors and cheerful characters where nothing bad ever happens, the stories merely {{Excuse Plot}}s for [[RuleOfFun purposes of fun]]. Except that no, it isn't. Popstar is constantly assaulted by {{Eldritch Abomination}}s that corrupt and kill and bring the world to the brink of destruction. The closest thing to an authority figure is a bumbling AuthorityInNameOnly that can barely succeed even in the few times he manages to be competent. The OnlySaneMan is a BloodKnight concerned only with combat. And Kirby himself, the protagonist and supposed hero, eats people. ''Hundreds upon hundreds of people''. He is a horrific scale BigEater on par with [[TabletopGame/{{Warhammer 40000}} the Tyranids]], consuming indiscriminately all in his path, and there is nothing anyone can do to stop him.
** Keep in mind that most of these "enemies" are completely innocent. Most of them just sit there until Kirby either devours them or destroys their souls.
*** Also keep in mind he doesn't actually kill them, as you can later spit them out in ''Super Star''.
** Franchise/{{Kirby}} [[CannibalismSuperpower eats enemies to gain their powers]]. Ritual cannibalism is carried out for the same purpose.
* In ''Kirby 64'', the TrueFinalBoss, oddly, has a band-aid on his head, which you have to hit to expose his weak point. It's the reincarnation of Zero from the previous game, so you'd first think that it's a simple call back… then you remember the whole thing where his iris ripped out of his main body…
* The creation of most beings in Dream Land is through one's heroic heart (as shown in ''Kirby Mass Attack'') which is aptly shaped like a star, so what happens when you spit them back out? You are spitting the heart of your enemies or objects.
** Also concerningly, the Game Over animation in ''Mass Attack'' if you lose all your Kirbys has the star representing Kirby's heroic heart puff into smoke. So he doesn't just die, ''his soul completely ceases existence''.
* ''Kirby's Adventure'' involves a Nightmare trying to come through the fountain of dreams to hurt the denizens of dream land. King Dedede removes and destroys the fountain's power source, which keeps the Nightmare on the other side but prevents anyone in Dream Land from dreaming. Kirby fixes the star rod, defeats the Nightmare and restores the ability to dream, so all is good, right? Well, in ''Kirby Super Star'', it is shown that most of the planets in Popstar's solar system have similar fountains. Another Nightmare could easily come through any of them and Kirby alone can't defend them all. Furthermore, the backlash from one Nightmare's defeat [[DefaceOfTheMoon was strong enough to blow up 1/4th of Popstar's moon]]. At any point, another Nightmare could creep out of any number of places in the cosmos and cause a disaster.
* In ''Kirby's Dream Land 2'', Dark Matter comes to Popstar and makes mischief in Dream Land. Kirby gets a special weapon and defeats it, problem solved? ''Kirby's Dream Land 3'' sees Dark Matter come back and engulf the entire planet of Popstar. Kirby manages to defeat it with another special weapon, though and even destroys its core, Zero. Yet in ''Kirby 64'', Dark Matter successfully conquers another planet and would have been in a position to take over many more had Kirby not gotten involved by coincidence. Turns out the controller, Zero, had somehow revived, but Kirby finding another weapon to put back down solved everything, right? No, Dark Matter engulfing two planets as well as [[ThatsNoMoon forming another one out of its own mass]] is just a drop in the bucket. Even if Zero Two is taken down and Dark Star is no more, the fact that Dark Nebula from ''Squeak Squad'' was later revealed to be part of Dark Matter shows this plot point has not been forgotten either.
** Then then there's Void Termina from ''Star Allies''… destroyer of worlds, indeed!
* In ''Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards,'' there are two planets out of the six or seven depending on whether or not you gathered all the titular [[PlotCoupons Crystal Shards]] that have a [[AfterTheEnd post-apocalyptic]] theme to them…
** The first is Level 2, Rock Star, which is nothing more than huddled masses of rock, only kept together by the planet's overall gravity. Looking at its Japanese name, "Horobita Star," meaning "Ruined/Perished/Destroyed Star," gives some implications that the [[EarthShatteringKaboom planet was destroyed by something]]. Then Kirby finds an ancient spaceship that was embedded within Rock Star…
** The second is Level 5, Shiver Star. It looks more like a real planet than the other 6 planets and upon further examination, one can see that it has the outline of Earth's continents visible on its surface, suggesting that it's a [[EarthThatWas post-apocalyptic Earth]]. The entire planet has [[EndlessWinter frozen over]] and at one point Kirby explores an [[NightmarishFactory underground factory]] filled with monsters [[PeopleJars floating]] in glass tanks.
*** This makes Adeleine's presence on Popstar especially disturbing. She's one of the only humans in the series (a few more appear in ''Kirby's Dream Land 3''), meaning she may very well be one of the last of her kind.
*** What's worse, most of the human characters from Dream Land 3 are '''children'''. Meaning they've likely been separated from their parents or orphans.
*** Somewhat mitigated by the presence of Samus in 5-2, suggesting that there are more humans out there somewhere.
*** Though, you've gotta admit that it's not entirely uncommon to just use Earth if you don't wanna waste time coming up with different land masses, even if the planet isn't supposed to be Earth.
* In ''VideoGame/KirbySuperStar'' and ''Super Star Ultra'', after successfully manipulating you into summoning Galactic Nova for him, Marx literally leaves you to die alone in freezing space. ''In a kid's game.''
* It's probably a really good thing that our heroes always defeat Galacta Knight whenever he gets freed, or else a maniac who can apparently ''destroy planets as collateral damage in his fights'' would be running loose in the galaxy.
* Kirby can befriend just about anyone (even Zero Two) ...except Nightmare. Makes sense that as a denizen of Dream Land, he would see Nightmare as the embodiment of everything he hates and fears.
