[[folder: Fridge Brilliance Part 1]]
* Why is Abraham Lincoln viewed as such a high power in this post-apocalyptic world? Because when geologists unearth statues or sculptures, they assume that they hold some sort of religious significance. Let's say they're digging around the remains of UsefulNotes/WashingtonDC...
* The line in Marceline's song in "Marceline's Closet" about being immortal and "[[TheFogOfAges forgetting who you even are]]"? Makes much more sense after you find out about [[spoiler: her past with Simon]] in "I Remember You".
* Why was "Nightmare" an available option on Lady Rainicorn's translator? Because a "mare" is a female horse!
* [[spoiler:Before the introduction of Susan Strong,]] the only human in Adventure Time is Finn. So when the show's theme song refers to him as "Finn the human", that's because he's THE human in Ooo.
* In the episode "City of Thieves", Finn and Jake end up getting dirtier as the show goes on, showing them slowly losing their "purity".
* In the episode "City of Thieves", Jake steals something in the city and can't pass through the thiefproof barrier. But as he used to be a [[spoiler: master criminal]], he STILL wouldn't be able to pass even if he refrained from stealing. Maybe he stole the boots to avoid revealing his past to Finn?
* Adventure Time draws influences not only from other cartoons, movies and shows, but also from video games as well. In the episode "Tree Trunks", the Snake Arm Ruby Brain Beast has a magic gem weak spot, resembling obvious weak spots on enemies and bosses. In "Dungeon", Finn explores a dungeon a la '' Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda''. In the dungeon, he encounters two boss-like foes, the Demon Cat and the Bucket Knight, and when he finds a key to open a dungeon door, it's suspended in midair.[[spoiler: Actually it's inside a Gelatinous Cube.]] In "The Other Tarts", Finn and Jake are carrying the Royal Tarts in an anti-gravity tote chamber, which has a red bar to indicate it's full. When tarts are removed from the, the size of the bar lowers like a health bar.
* In "The Jiggler" why did Finn keep on kissing the baby Jiggler [[spoiler: when it was dying?]] Well, in "Memories of Boom Boom Mountain", it is shown that [[spoiler: Jake's mom kissed him to make baby Finn feel better.]]
* Finn's phobia of the ocean (and ''only'' the ocean - he's fine with other bodies of water, like rivers or lakes) seems totally irrational at first - until, in "His Hero", Billy is described as having "slayed an evil ocean". [[FridgeHorror Think on that for a minute...]]''an entire ocean'' can potentially be evil. It's absolutely massive, fully capable of wreaking terrible destruction on land (think tsunamis), and pretty much impossible to kill (unless you're Billy, [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu in which case you can just punch it to death]]). With that in mind, Finn's Thalassophobia makes a lot more sense.
** It's revealed in the "Islands" miniseries that when Finn was a baby, he was [[spoiler:abandoned on a raft]] in the ocean [[spoiler: by his father]]. It's highly possible that during that time, he had many bad experiences with it (read: [[spoiler:nearly falling in without knowing how to swim]]) that scarred him for life.
* In "To Cut A Woman's Hair", we get to see Finn's [[spoiler:incredibly long, luscious blonde]] hair. Why is his hair so long? He's still a child and there's not a single parental figure around to make him cut it. Well, there's Jake and his parents, but being dogs it's doubtful that they'd force him to cut his wild hair.
* In the Mortal Folly/Mortal Recoil two parter, [[spoiler:The Lich possessing a snail is a pretty smart joke considering he was built up upon in a snail's pace]].
* In the pilot for the cartoon, which became an internet sensation and spawned the series, Abraham Lincoln says Finn (Named Penn at the time) has traveled "Back in time, and to Mars." While this was obviously just a great non-sequitur joke at the time, it becomes more funny and interesting after the series admitted that the world is a post-apocalyptic one, as you can clearly see a whole, normal, modern-day Earth in the background of the dream sequence.
* At first, Finn's use of words like, "Mathematical" and "Rhombus" for catchphrases when it's obvious that he's horrible at math doesn't make sense. But Finn knows Princess Bubblegum is a scientist and super smart: and what better way to impress her than by using super smart math words? Not too bright a plan, but Finn is a thirteen-year-old boy; hero or not, he probably knows next to nothing about girls.
* Bob Rainicorn was saved by a dog. He later named his daughter [[WesternAnimation/LadyAndTheTramp Lady]].
* The name "Finn" is an Anglicised form of the Irish name Fionn, meaning "''blonde''"; plus, the name comes from a [[Myth/CelticMythology mythological Irish]] ''hero'', Fionn Mac Cumhaill, and his mother sports an Irish accent. Make of that what you will. This makes the name Fionna even better.
* The trinket Billy wears on his head. At first, it seems like a normal accessory. But, you realize after "Mortal Folly" that he must wear it to defend himself from the Lich's mind control.
* Remember when Finn attacked a black hole with a sword and actually won? Well, that whole storyline is filled to the brim with fridge brilliance. First of all, why did the 4th dimensional bubble become a black hole anyway? Because that 4th dimension doesn't have any mass and a bubble sustains itself through air pressure, so the bubble basically kept expanding in that 4th dimension while collapsing in the first 3. And why was the 4th dimensional sword able to destroy it? Because even though it's a 4th dimensional bubble, it's still a bubble. And why didn't he get his sword back? Because of the black hole, it's in a completely different dimension now.
* That popping, clicking language the tiny Princess Bubblegum uses to communicate with Neddy? Those are the sounds gum makes when it's being chewed, ie ''in its natural habitat''.
* Back in "The Real You", Jake cracks a joke about Finn's saliva model of The Candy Kingdom being made for PB out of a desire to "give her your spit." Come "Too Young", he does just that in both the [[FirstKiss implied way]] and in a useful, literal way to stick the candy pieces to PB.
* Lemongrab is basically a living triple pun. His name is a pun on "sourpuss" (it was originally "Lemonsnatch," but the network wouldn't allow for it, so they added an ADDITIONAL PUN.) Lemongrab's wardrobe consists of nothing but grey clothes (his jumpsuit, and his pajamas.) He's also an earl. Earl Grey. And all of this was intentional. ß is used in German, where it stands in for an "ss" so Lemongraß would be Lemongrass, but as Princess Bubblegum said, he came out wrong.
* Jake's "perfect" sandwich includes three kinds of meat (four, if you count the lobster soul), plus the eggs for added protein. Jake is a dog: omnivorous by nature, but notorious lovers of meats.
* From "Fionna and Cake", one of the lyrics for Fionna and Gumball's love song is "your fist has touched my heart." Gumball sings this line. [[spoiler: Gumball is actually the Ice Queen in disguise, and if there's anyone who'd have experience with Fionna's fist (or kicks, or sword slashes, etc.) it's her.]]
* It seems that many fans [[LateToThePunchLine didn't get Jake's joke]] from "Power Animal" until they started thinking about it more deeply or until it was explained to them. He said, "Did ya hear about the goblin who got his left arm and left leg cut off?" The nymphs respond, "No," to which Jake responds, "That's okay; he's al'''right''' now!!" Similarly, the water nymph's song is ''almost'' a joke.
-->'''"What did the mermaid... sea? A movie?"'''
* In the episode "What Was Missing," the 'Best Friends in the World' song was an excellent opportunity for Finn to bust out his autotuned singing voice, but for some reason, he doesn't. In other words [[TitleDrop his autotuned voice was missing.]]
* Why didn't the Door Lord steal Jake's viola or Marceline's bass? ''Because he wanted them to contribute to the band with their instruments!''
* While the chorus of "You Are My Best Friends in the World" is meant to apply to Jake, Bubblegum and Marceline, it actually applies to Bubblegum most of all the more you think about the lyrics, especially after Too Young.
-->'''Finn''': What am I to you? Am I [[IdiotHero a joke]], [[KnightInShiningArmor your knight]], or [[LikeBrotherAndSister your brother?]]. What am I to you? Do you look down on me because I'm younger?
* In the pilot, Jake claims to be in his 20s, but doesn't act any older than Finn (and arguably acts younger than him at some points in the series). Of course, this is because dogs age faster than humans.
* Another piece of brilliance can be found in "Mortal Folly:" When the Lich is traveling through water, he leaves behind a trail of oil. And what are oil spills linked with?
* In "Dungeon", Finn says that he'll get the Crystal Eye "within 11 minutes." Each episode of Adventure Time is about 11 minutes long.
* What kind of dog is Jake? [[StealthPun A mini]] [[VisualPun corn-dog.]]
* In "Mystery Train" Finn turns thirteen. This episode originally aired on March 14th (3/14), also known as "Pi day". This sort of means that Finn's birthday is on Pi day. You can't get much more "''[[UnusualEuphemism mathem]][[{{Pun}} atical]]''" than that!
* There are many clues in "Mystery Train" that make sense and tie together if you know what happens at the end of the episode. A list of the clues can be seen [[http://adventuretime.wikia.com/index.php?title=Mystery_Train&oldid=99494#Clues here.]]
* [[OurVampiresAreDifferent Marceline]] says she just sucks color out of things, not blood, then turns a strawberry white to demonstrate. But when she bites Jake, he shrivels up. [[spoiler: He was faking it, sure, but she didn't find it odd.]] Well... do you know what color strawberries start to turn when they rot? Sure, Finn eats it, but he seems more interested in Marceline than the strawberry.--Tropers/RedWren
* The episode "No One Can Hear You" is a reference to ''{{Film/Alien}}'' as evident by its title. It is a reference to the {{tagline}} of the movie: "In space, no one can hear you scream". Why didn't they put "scream" in the episode title? ''[[EpisodeFinishesTheTitle Because Finn and Jake are screaming in the title card!]]''
* There'll obviously be a lot of this after "Holly Jolly Secrets", but one that stood out was a part in "What Have You Done" where the Ice King's crown cries and says, "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry..." after being put on the Shelf of Penitence. In "Holly Jolly Secrets", we find out that a long time ago, the Ice King was [[spoiler: a normal human being named Simon Petrikov with a fiancee named Betty. Simon was sold the crown and decided to put it on to give Betty a laugh. The crown showed him visions and caused a flash of insanity, however, and after a NoodleIncident Betty was mortified and (supposedly) left him. The crown causes Simon to go into loneliness and insanity, leading to the Ice King we know and laugh at. So in "What Have You Done", '''the crown is apologizing for the horrible things it did to Simon.''']] Even worse, the Crown's apology may be from [[spoiler:whatever is left of Simon's shattered psyche, still plagued with regret over what he did.]]
* What other christmas special [[WesternAnimation/SantaClausIsCominToTown had an ice based villain who is revealed to be more human than he lets on?]]
* Marceline owns several bass amps with her name as the brand. Guess who her [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marshall_Amplification gender-bent counterpart]] is?
* Maybe obvious to some, but the setting of the show is in the Land of Ooo. And some pretty incredible and weird stuff happens there, making the viewer amazed enough to say "Ooo."
* The meaning behind the title "Holly Jolly Secrets". You've gotta admit, [[https://web.archive.org/web/20120905040659/http://www.formspring.me/MrMuto/q/269641347344897048 Adam Muto states a damn good case.]]
* After the final video diary in "Holly Jolly Secrets", it suddenly makes sense why the Ice King would consider Finn and Jake his friends. [[spoiler: They're the only ones who stop him from hurting people and committing horrible acts, which in his final sane entry was his last desperate request to the viewer. In stopping the Ice King, Finn and Jake are fulfilling Simon's final wish and deep down the Ice King realizes this causing him to view Finn and Jake as thankful friends instead of bitter enemies, which otherwise would make more sense.]] -Tropers/MoonLeopard
* In “What Is Life?” NEPTR [[FunWithAcronyms can also stand for]] Never-Ending Princess Taking Robot.
* NEPTR (Never-Ending-Pie-Throwing-Robot) was built for the sole purpose of throwing pies at Jake ''forever''. This not only means Finn almost subjected Jake to an ''[[FridgeHorror eternity of getting nailed in the face by pies,]]'' but means that the fact that we see NEPTR in future episodes means he never fulfilled his sole purpose for being created, as he didn't throw those pies at Jake forever. Thank god Ice King zapped him and caused his affinity for princesses, otherwise, the poor guy might be having an existential crisis.
* In "Paper Pete", Jake's refusal to believe Finn about the Paperlings and Moldos seems like ArbitrarySkepticism, given all the ridiculous things they've encountered in the series, unless you consider that Jake is just assuming Finn is bored and fishing for an excuse to get out of the library while Jake is busy reading up on Rainicorn history.
* In "Dad's Dungeon", Finn's adoptive canine father refers to him as a crybaby. At first, it seems like this is just part of his attempt to toughen Finn up. However, if the canines of Ooo mature as rapidly as normal dogs, then Finn would have been struggling to walk by the time Jake and Jerome would have been considered adolescents. Joshua thinks Finn is a crybaby because ''humans mature very slowly compared to dogs''.
* With her destructive personality, no ''WONDER'' Flame Princess was sealed inside that glass chamber!
* Why have we never seen Flame Princess before? Two reasons: 1. It wouldn't make much sense for the Ice King to go to the Fire Kingdom. 2. She's Finn's age, so even if Ice King was suicidal enough to go for her, he wouldn't touch her since she's underage.
* Why would Flame Princess be given by her father to "Prince" Finn, considering he knew how destructive and dangerous she was? Then we find out that everyone in the fire kingdom is evil, and it just clicks. Flame King probably wanted to keep her locked away not to protect everyone, but to make sure she was exposed to someone who could trigger her unstable matrix, and if the relationship didn't work out she would flip and burn everything. It was an evil win-win for him.
* In "Incendium", when the Flame Princess attacks Finn's house, the picture of PB is destroyed. It's probably symbolic of the Flame Princess destroying Finn's crush on PB!
* Princess Bubblegum has created "liquid pyrotechnics" which can be called: Waterworks. Guess what Finn does for the rest of the episode until the next one.
* Anyone who's involved in knitting or crochet has heard of the "Boyfriend Sweater Curse", where someone makes a sweater for their boyfriend and breaks up a short time later. Although PB didn't have anything resembling a romantic relationship with Finn, his crush on her ending would count.
* "Videomakers" has Finn and Jake fight over making an action movie and a romantic comedy, respectively. Finn, an energetic 13 year old would love a non-stop action movie while Jake, a 28-year-old dog in a relationship would want a romantic comedy to snuggle up and make out with his girlfriend Lady Rainicorn. - Tropers/SpiderFan14
* Why does Stormo have an eagle head rather than a human head? Because he is a Grif'''[[{{Pun}} fin]]'''.
* In "Holly Jolly Secrets" BMO decodes Ice King's tears and they form the [[https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/6c/e7/bf/6ce7bfb663f7b378b2afda2ff471b880.jpg shape of a penguin]]. In "Five More Short Graybles" when Ice King cries he tells the penguins to "drink up [his] tears" because they are lucky. His tears form a penguin because they can be drunk by, and give luck to, penguins.
* Why is Fionna chubby compared to her male version? Because she isn't [[{{Pun}} Thin]].
* Have you ever noticed that Tree Trunks's ears resemble oven mitts?
* Why did Princess Bubblegum not only make Goliad immortal, but ''extremely'' powerful? Because she wanted the ruler to be able to protect the Candy Kingdom.
* Jake's girlfriend is Lady Rainicorn, voiced by Niki Yang. BMO is also voiced by Niki Yang, who lives with Finn and Jake. So, in a sort of meta sense, it's almost as if Lady Rainicorn is always by Jake's side.
* She phrases it as an opinion, but did anyone else see Princess Bubblegum deciding Jake worked better as a Milkman in "Princess Cookie" as this? The primary reason Jake's ...er, 'negotiation' went so well was because of his supposed occupation, and in any hostage situation (particularly those that have progressed to the 'standoff with the SWAT team' level) the best outcome is a peaceful one.
* How did BMO realize that Lorraine the chicken wrote the note in "BMO Noire"? Sure, it was written in lipstick, but it was also written in "chicken scratch".
* Princess Bubblegum's speech to Finn about how 'responsibility demands sacrifice' was interpreted by many people to be about her previous [[{{LesYay}} relationship]] with Marceline. However, it could just as easily pertain to Finn, especially after the events of 'Too Young'.
* Billy's song ends with the fact that he "fought a bear." Now, what gives [[spoiler: The Lich the Enchiridion?]]
* Finn and Jake gushing over the part of Billy fighting a bear makes even ''more'' sense once you realize that Finn's hat is made out of bear skin.
* "King Worm" has tons of it, especially if you know much about dreams.
** Lady Rainicorn's voice was distorted because Finn doesn't know Korean. [[spoiler:This also {{foreshadow}}s that Jake isn't real but a creation of Finn's dream, because if Jake were really connected to the dream, then Lady would be speaking her native language.]]
** [[spoiler: Another piece of foreshadowing includes the fact that Jake can't play his viola in the dream. If it were the real Jake, he'd know how to harness his own natural talent, even in dreamscape.]]
** Meeting characters in dreams that are also lucid is something that actually occurs in RealLife to lucid dreamers, and it plays out much like it does here. [[spoiler: If you meet another person and believe that they are also dreaming but somehow connected to your dream, your brain will convince itself of that and create a very realistic illusion of it. Jake acts very realistically when Finn believes him to be the actual Jake, but he acts like other characters of the dream only after Finn questions him.]]
** Finn's false awakening is very realistic, which is TruthInTelevision for actual false awakenings, but even before he notices himself in the mirror, you can see that the ears on his hat are still OffModel, giving away that he's still dreaming.
** While in dreams locations and time are constantly [[AlienGeometries extremely distorted]], people and faces are most of the time either extremely realistic or only slightly distorted, i.e. somebody with curly hair will appear to have straight hair. The only minor distortions were Finn's ears and Lady's second mouth. The most distorted characters are ones that Finn doesn't really ''know'', but are mostly friendly acquaintances, such as Peppermint Butler and Lady Rainicorn. [[spoiler:Jake becomes distorted once Finn realizes that he is not actually Jake and he isn't actually familiar with him.]]
** When Finn begins to become lucid again, Jake tells him not to worry about it and that it's just "dream residue". This is also very realistic, as the brain often comes up with nonsensical logic to explain situations that are off or weird in dreams, which usually [[ItMakesSenseInContext make sense to the dreamer]] because most people are holding the IdiotBall in their dreams.
*** "Dream residue", while a nonsensical explanation, can also refer to hypnopompic hallucinations, which are hallucinations that only occur after a person wakes up.
** When Finn looks in the mirror his image is heavily distorted. This is an actual occurrence in dreams, because what we see in a mirror in dreams is largely determined by what we expect to see, so we can see just about anything. Many people who are lucid dreamers report that looking in mirrors often results in seeing a deformed version of themselves.
** Finn reacts to the strangeness of his dreams pretty illogically, which is also the reaction to most distortions in actual dreamers because of [[IdiotBall dream logic.]] He can only tell that something is wrong when it's obvious that he's dreaming due to the sheer absurdity of events. Dreamers' logic senses are often extremely obscured in dreams, and only lucky and extremely trained lucid dreamers will ever pick up on the signs that they are dreaming. So Finn's reactions and confusion are quite realistic.
** [[spoiler:The only dream character with much dialogue is Jake, because Finn believes him to be real. Once Finn starts to question it, his dialogue becomes much more limited and cryptic, like everyone else in the dream, and when confronted about it he gets [[StepfordSmiler very quiet and smiley]].]] Many lucid dreamers will find that this is exactly how characters in dreams behave, especially when confronted about their reality, probably because [[WriteWhatYouKnow the brain does not know what it's like to not be real,]] so it doesn't explain and goes for the closest it can find to a realistic reaction.
** Princess Bubblegum's NightmareFace is the exact same one that she made when she was possessed by The Lich in "Mortal Recoil". Similarly, the explosion in the background is the same one that was made by The Lich in "Mortal Folly".
** The strange mirror image Finn sees after [[spoiler: the false awakening]] in the dream [[http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mcbqhnlgg91qet2f2o1_500.jpg looks almost identical to]] [[spoiler: the apparent parallel universe Finn]] at the end of "The Lich."
** Not to mention Finn's rule of "No worms on the bed!" That's about the last place you want dream-altering worms to be.
* Lady Rainicorn's fretfulness at the beginning of "Lady and Peebles" makes all the more sense now that [[spoiler: she's pregnant]] is because she didn't get to tell Jake [[spoiler: about the pregnancy]] beforehand and because [[spoiler: the pregnancy]] would sidetrack her away from PB and Jake for a while.
* Trailers for "You Made Me!" described the episode as being [[VerySpecialEpisode A Very Special Lemongrab Episode]]. At first glance, this might seem like a humorous juxtaposition of Lemongrab's ... uh... Lemongrabbishness and the absurdity of the idea of having him star in an episode with a serious moral to it. However, it's actually a StealthPun on Lemongrab's [[TheMentallyDisturbed "specialness."]]
* In "Too Young", Princess Bubblegum apparently hated Lemongrab, and just wanted him gone. But in "You Made Me!", she expresses regret at how messed-up she made the Earl, and tries to make amends for his lousy upbringing. Why the change of heart? Because when Princess Bubblegum turned 13, she lost her ability to relate to Lemongrab as her own creation, because he was older than her, and she lost her "maternal" (protective and caring towards her creation) instincts and saw Lemongrab as... well, a screaming lunatic. But when she turned 18 again, she got it back and became more mentally mature, she was able to relate more to Lemongrab, fully understanding that he is her responsibility, as his creator. This is why 13-year-old PB was angry at Lemongrab, while 18-year-old PB was worried about him.
* At the end of the Spanish dub of Too Young, Lemongrab says, "No one loves me. Everyone hates me." In "You Made Me!", Princess Bubblegum asks for three volunteers to move in with Lemongrab, to placate his misery of not having any citizens in his castle. They respond by ''forming an angry mob.'' Lemongrab wasn't being a drama queen- everyone really DOES hate him! Also doubles as a Fridge TearJerker.
* It is made very clear that Lemongrab is the only one capable of following/understanding his "special" way of thinking. [[spoiler: Who better to be his friend then, than a second version of himself?]]
* In "You Made Me!", Lemongrab spends almost the whole episode hating himself (for being as damaged as he is) and hating everyone else (for making him that way.) However, after Princess Bubblegum makes Lemongrab a [[spoiler:clone of himself]], he ''learns to love himself!'' Only then was he able to finally act like a friendly, happy person. He had to love himself before he could love anyone else.
* Why was Lemongrab- who has a sour lemon heart- suddenly so sweet and friendly at the end? Because even lemons have sugar in them!
* In "Holly Jolly Secrets" Ice King somehow knows Marceline's fries song. He stalks and spies on Finn and Jake all the time, so of course he would be there at least one of the times it played.
* When Princess Bubblegum becomes younger, the Ice King pretty much gives up the idea of kidnapping her. The obvious reason is that [[EvenEvilHasStandards he is not a pedophile]]. But what was his reason behind the kidnappings in the first place? he wants to ''marry'' a princess. PB was legally underage so he just couldn't marry her even if he tried to.
* Ice King is a magically-enhanced human who's several hundred years old, possibly the oldest being in Ooo. To him, everyone is extremely young. Therefore, it makes sense that he wouldn't split too many hairs over how old a princess is when abducting her.
* His obssesion with princesses is caused by subconsciously [[spoiler: missing Betty, and remembering how he loved her]], and maybe the reason he doesn't go after younger girls is because of [[spoiler: Marceline. He still subconsiously remembers how he loved this little girl with a different kind of love (paternal love) and so the barrier between acceptable targets for kidnapping and princesses young enough for that kind of love not to apply to still exists.]]
* In the episode I Remember You, Marceline shows the Ice King a newspaper clipping the clipping had an image of [[spoiler: Simon Petrikov holding the Enchiridion]] closer inspection of the article shows that [[spoiler: Simon had just discovered it during a dig]] based on the image you can tell this took place before the Mushroom War, the only question is what significance did it hold before the war? Compounded by the next episode, The Lich, where we find out that the crowns of Ooo activate the Enchiridion. What were you looking for, Simon?
* Marceline dating Ash in the past makes more sense now considering [[spoiler: he's a wizard and so's Ice King (who was somewhat of a father figure to her)]]. Alternatively, her dad's a jerk. LikeParentLikeSpouse.
* Why didn't Marceline's Dad suck out the Ice King's soul when he had no compulsions about sucking out everyone else's? Because Simon looked after his daughter when he wasn't able or he really messed up.
* In the first scene of "The Lich", we see Billy's cave and several characters in it. Finn is at a computer looking at a video of the Cosmic Owl, Billy is kissing The Old Lady from "His Hero", and the bear from "In Your Footsteps" is in the middle of the room. In the background is a tapestry of a unicorn. This tells us several things. One, the scene is revealed to be a nightmare that Finn experiences, and the Cosmic Owl has been used to represent death before in the form of croak dreams. It's possible the scene is [[spoiler: Billy's croak dream and inevitable death]], which manifests itself into Finn's nightmare, seeing how [[spoiler: he had to be present when Billy was killed by the Lich]]. Secondly, the unicorn tapestry is an actual work titled [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hunt_of_the_Unicorn "The Unicorn is in Captivity, and No Longer Dead"]], part of the "Hunt of the Unicorn" series. The series shows a unicorn being hunted, attacked, killed, and held captive. While in captivity, it is resurrected. This could be three things. The first is Billy's fight with and imprisonment of The Lich mentioned in "His Hero", the second is The Lich's return, death, and [[spoiler: possession of the snail]] in "Mortal Folly" and "Mortal Recoil", and the third is [[spoiler: Billy's death and possession in the croak dream]]. Essentially, one scene and one piece of artwork tells an entire subplot, which became the main plot, that was ongoing for nearly ''four seasons''.
* What happened in "The Lich". Booko, the hologram in the Enchiridion, explains everything about the Enchiridion's hidden power. Who better to explain the new key factors of Adventure Time than the creator himself, Pendleton Ward. It's also interesting when you bring into account that people compare Adventure Time to a game of TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons. Ward essentially ended one chapter and went to the next game, explaining what's different and how to succeed with the Enchiridion.
* "The Lich" reveals that the Enchiridion is a gateway to the multiverse, and that the key to unlocking it are the jewels of various crowns - this includes the Ice King's crown. This may go to explain why the Ice King can see the Spirit World-as his crowns are needed to access the multiverse for the Enchiridion, it explains why he can see(and subtly influence) AnotherDimension.
* "I Remember You" revealed that [[spoiler:Simon discovered the Enchiridion prior to the madness of the crown.]] This may go to explain why the Ice King and his crown are so linked-[[spoiler:it wants to get closer to someone associated with the Enchiridion!]]
* The Ice King's crown is the only one with multiple gems on it. Combined with the above about why he can see the spirit world, it may explain the insanity the crown causes. It's forcing the wearer to see three different universes at once. It's possible the non sequitur bits of the Ice King's personality are perfectly rational responses to something going on in one of the other worlds.
* Why does Finn always keep his hat on, despite having no problems with taking it off? According to Pendleton Ward, Finn skinned a bear as a baby, which is how he got his hat (kinda confirmed in "Little Dude"). So the possible reason why he always keeps his hat on is because he feels proud of having skinned a BEAR as a baby!
** The "Islands" miniseries reveals that the bear in question was [[spoiler:his teddy bear, and he did it to avoid dying of exposure on a raft in the middle of the ocean. It seems he got used to wearing one]].

* Jake saves [[spoiler: the Multiverse]] by ''simply being a dog.'' Think about it. He acts like a typical bulldog - friendly, simple, no attention span - and he wins over the lonely Prismo to the point where Prismo is willing to bend the rules ever so slightly and suggest a wish. And the title of that episode? Jake the Dog.
* The 'ironic twist' to Finn's wish in "Finn The Human"? The Lich never, ''ever'' existed ... before now ([[DontExplainTheJoke he didn't exist in the past but that doesn't disqualify him from existing after the wish was made]]). There's an even subtler ironic twist at the end of the episode. After [[spoiler: Jake changes the Lich's wish]] Prismo says, "You see that, [[spoiler: Jake]]? Monkey's paw." Why would he say this? [[spoiler: Because that's the ironic twist to the Lich's initial wish. When he wished for all life to be extinct, he hadn't count on Finn and Jake being exempt, which allowed Jake to alter his initial wish, creating the ironic 'Monkey's Paw' twist for the Lich.]] That's why Prismo says that. Also BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor. The Lich wished for [[spoiler:the extinction of all life.]] Nothing said [[spoiler:life would ''stay'' extinct.]]
* At first it seems odd that [[spoiler: Farmworld!Finn would succumb so quickly to the Crown's power, considering the talent Finn has shown for resisting magical possession in the past.]] Then you realize that, having grown up with parents in a fairly normal world, he has not had Finn prime's experiences or responsibilities and thus has not had to grow as much as a person.
* Think about this: Lemongrab is a Candy Person, because he's not made of lemons, but ''lemon drop candies''.
* Considering that he'll probably never, ever meet another human, you'd expect Finn to be a ''lot'' angstier about it. But not only is Ooo full of sentient creatures, ''most'' of his acquaintances also have unique phenotypes.
** From "Susan Strong":
-->'''Finn:''' I've never even met any other humans. If I think about it too much, I get all soul-searchy and weeeeiiirrrd...
* Finn seems to be unusually strong and agile for a human, let alone a prepubescent one...but then you consider how common InterspeciesRomance is in this world, [[HalfHumanHybrid and his abilities make much more sense.]]
* Why did Finn [[WhatTheHellHero make such messed up pairings?]] Given his own love life, his ideas of romance may not be all there...
* During the episode "All The Little People", Finn has to shake mini-Finn vigorously in order to communicate with him. Finn had been fanboying over his CrackPairing schemes with the mini-versions of his friends earlier in the episode (which had caused them to become unhappy). You could say that Finn was [[StealthPun fanwanking.]]
* According to the title card of "All the Little People", Magic Man made the little people out of clay. Considering that he's the younger brother of Grob Gob Glob Grod, this could mean that Magic Man is essentially a God who created life and then placed it in Finn's hands for laughs. What was Adam made of according to Literature/TheBible?
* More of a bit of brilliance on the part of the writers: "I Remember You" at first seems like an episode created mostly to make people sad, [[spoiler: until you realize how brilliantly it sets up Marceline working for the Ice King in "Finn the Human/Jake the Dog".]]
* In "I Remember You", the author of the newspaper article about Simon Petrikov is named Bruce Guese, which was also the name of one of the townspeople in the Farmworld universe. Just a MythologyGag, right? Well, when you consider that Farmworld was frozen for a very long time and thus was effectively much closer chronologically to the pre-Mushroom War world, you realize that the Bruce Guese we see there could very well be a direct descendent of the ''other'' Bruce Guese, and is therefore named after him.
* Most people won't recognize it, but the fact that the show's setting was caused by a global war disaster, and that it encourages fun and peace, might as well mean that ''Adventure Time'' is one giant anti war slogan.
* Fern's existence is caused by The Finn Sword's Finn and The Grass Sword combined, but the reason he succumbs to the emissary from beyond is not only because of his inferiority complex as Fern, but also his anger with the other Finn when he was inside The Finn Sword.
* In "Mystery Dungeon," it turns out that [[spoiler: Ice King had abducted the four other captive characters in order to reach an area that he thinks will bring his fan fiction "Fionna & Cake" to life. This fails, but that's beside the point. At first it seems goofy and ridiculous, simply the dream of any given fan-fic creator. But this is significant in a complex, overthought form: Ice King is labeled as either a villain or a kook by the people in his world. Even his adopted daughter Marceline hates to be around him (not because she doesn't like him, she simply cannot stand seeing her beloved Simon in such a broken state). Being a hazard, only one person will be willing to spend time with him: the hero, making sure he doesn't hurt anybody. Who is the hero? Finn. Finn has thus accidentally become the most consistent person in Ice King's life. Ice King enjoys his company (despite being his foe) because he's too lonely otherwise. Thus, he created a character, a female, who would be certain to stay with the Ice King in marriage. He created Fiona, the female equivalent of Finn.]]
* In "Mystery Dungeon," Lemongrab for some reason desperately craves food, as he asks Ice King how he tastes and to make himself into food, and he is forced to be polite (or try) to Tree Trunks to make apple pie. When a rat eats the pie, Lemongrab clocks it in the face and ravenously gobbles up the chewed up pie. In "All Your Fault" it is revealed that Lemongrab is hungry because he and Lemongrab 2 use all their own food to make new candy life. This show has [[ContinuityPorn amazing continuity]].
* Why did Princess Bubblegum say "Their hearts are fine" when Jake called the Lemongrabs selfish? Because they're actually, very slowly, getting better at being nicer and more compassionate people. It's a subtle change, but the awakening of LemonJohn's heart is very slowly happening to the Lemongrabs. The very first step was Lemongrab meeting Lemongrab 2. The next step was Lemongrab apologizing to Tree Trunks and actually helping the other people in the Mystery Dungeon. And the biggest change we've seen with the Lemongrabs so far is "All Your Fault," basically the entire episode, when they sacrificed their own needs for the lives of their future children, and visibly caring about the feelings of their children. Lemongrab is slowly going from a {{Jerkass}} to a JerkWithAHeartOfGold. Princess Bubblegum doesn't want to tamper with the Lemongrabs's natural course of development and their learning curve.
* In "Bad Little Boy", Gumball acts like a completely ineffective idiot and Fionna seems more violent and slightly less good than before... well, it's Marceline who's telling the story, so there's some of her own personality dipping into the characters and story.
* Simon is evidently a big fan of ''Series/{{Cheers}}'' as noted by his mantra being the theme song but there's more to it. The theme song itself is about going someplace where there are friends who listen and "where everybody knows your name." This becomes even more apparent in Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake, where Simon is feeling more alone than ever with no one truly understanding his crisis.
* Notice how much more violent Fionna is to Marshall when compared to their normal counterparts? Remember that Marceline came to respect and like Finn after being punched really hard in the face? Yep, Marceline seems to wish Finn was more violent to her.
* Also, the interaction between Marshall and Fionna seems like a declaration of love for Finn but with the caveat that Marceline thinks of herself as too evil-aligned for him.
* Marceline's music about her dad eating her fries seems odd at first, then saddening when you learn what a fucked-up relationship they have. But it's only when you see "Memory of a Memory" you get ''why'' that hurt her so much. When her dad ate her fries, she was living in a ''post-apocalypse'' world, completely contaminated with radiation. How often did she even get to ''eat'', at all? Less alone something tasty like fries? Her father wasn't taking care of her 24-7, it seems, but he being King of the Nightosphere, ''he'' wouldn't have any problem with food. Those fries might've been a once-every-two-months thing for Marcy. It's also made worse by the fact that he is deathless, i.e. ''[[TheNeedless doesn't even need to eat]]''. So not only was her father depriving her of what was probably a rare treat for her, but he was doing it despite the fact that it was completely useless to him. Marceline was later turned into a vampire who could only eat blood and red things. Those fries could have been the last time she ever tasted the dish.
* Adventure Time has a lot of shout-outs to 80s pop culture, as well as using vaguely 80s-ish slang. Just RuleOfCool, right? Well, consider what was going on in the 80s that could have led to a nuclear war...]]
* Why were the Lemongrabs making "sex noises" when they were gathering the candy seeds and making Seed-Wad? Because those are the noises that two people make when they make a baby, as in literally.
* Another lemon-related pun. A "lemon" is a slang term for a product, such as a car or appliance, that is defective or dysfunctional, which the buyer tries to get rid of or have returned. Lemongrab is a failed experiment and because of this, also happens to be a "lemon" in the completely figurative sense of the word, too!
* In the episode "Hug Wolf", Princess Bubblegum had a cameo seen chasing a cat......[[StealthPun now what's another word for cat?]] Which serves as a very stealthy reference to [[LesYay her and Marceline's possible relationship.]]
* An easy FridgeBrilliance one. After Holly Jolly Secrets, many characters on the show call the Ice King by his real name, [[spoiler: Simon]]. Why is that? Fairly simple. It's explained at the end of the Christmas episode that Finn and Jake re-created the VHS-watching event once per year. Due to the time era of the series, a post-apocalyptic world, it's rather safe to assume those are the only remaining cassettes still functioning (considering the rise of DVD may have happened in their world as well). And it could also be rather safe to assume that they watch all of them at each of those events. As a result, all those who are present learned the Ice King's secret. Sadly, this also raises a few questions of FridgeLogic. Did everyone who called the Ice King by his real name go to one of those events? Why isn't the Ice King angry that more and more people watch his secrets and laugh at his recorded antics? Oh, and why is Marceline present even after a more recent episode has revealed that [[spoiler: she was very close to Simon Petrikov, and it actually hurts her to see him as the Ice King]]?
* In the newest episode, Simon and Marcy, you'll probably notice a lot of pink stuff around the area that looks suspiciously like gum. It gets especially hard to miss when Simon climbs up some, and [[spoiler: a sentient mass of this stuff - with a FACE - gives Simon a can of chicken soup, after he had been looking for most of the episode.]] Three guesses as to why Ice King is so much more obsessed with PB than the other princesses.
* The Ice King, ineffectual as he is, actually wields considerable power if he were to use his abilities creatively rather than just freezing things. Of course, recent episodes have implied that [[spoiler: every time he uses his powers, he's acting by the Crown's will, not his own. The Crown, as an ambiguously-sentient inanimate object, probably isn't very intelligent or imaginative.]]
* Since 'Simon and Marcy' is told by her, from her perspective, she's free to make up details for whatever reason - doesn't want to offend Finn and Jake (or the Ice King), lulz, didn't actually understand what was going on at the time and filled in the blanks. But here's one: she recalls Simon's genuine horror at her fever and getting soup from him, but because he was trying to not alarm her, she didn't catch that they were in a ''pharmacy'' or that the 'clambulance' was supposed to be something else. (And the reason he gave her soup at the end? It masked the taste of medicine.) This explains why he got it from a ...pink goo with a face - that's just what he told her - and why his cursing (when she covers her ears) is just "MotherMotherMotherEtc.", since that's what he kept saying after she uncovered them. Also, depending on how it works out in that world, being a half-demon Vampire Queen might mean that she hasn't gotten seriously ill since then, or may not actually realize what getting ill means - there's nothing to say that she does or does not believe that procession of events.
* In "Puhoy", after having been trapped in another world for decades, Finn's memories of Jake are extremely distorted. This is quite realistic.
* Lemongrab's slightly knee-jerk reaction to attacking Finn, Jake, and Princess Bubblegum is strangely understandable, from his perspective, when we remember that the last time he saw PB and Finn, those two had punched him in the stomach (causing him to cry in pain,) and other various forms of bodily harm. In addition to being [[GoMadFromTheIsolation crazy-mad]], he was probably still fairly pissed off about that. When he saw Finn, he might have thought, "Oh, there's the little shit who beat me up a year ago! I don't know who the dog is, but if he's a friend of Finn then he's an enemy of mine!" And in addition to resenting PB for her unethical scientific ways, Lemongrab might have still been pissed at PB for the same reason. The fans who thought PB and Finn were in the wrong for beating up Lemongrab? Well... looks like the guy got his revenge eventually, after all...
* In Simon and Marcy, was Marceline's head getting hotter or was Simon's hand just getting colder?
* At the end of Simon and Marcy he calls Marcy "Gunter." Another sign of his descent into madness, sure, but could the reason he dotes on Gunter be that he sees him as a seven-year-old Marceline? Gunter being Marceline's Childhood nickname would certainly explain why one shot of her journal in "Marceline's Closet" has "Gunter" written on it.
* If Marceline's title of Vampire Queen is official, why is she the only royal in Ooo who doesn't have a crown? Because it was [[ArtifactOfDoom a Crown]] that stole one of her dearest friends from her.
* Upon first watching All Your Fault, the Lemongrabs' accusingly shouting "This is all your fault! We warned you about us!" at Finn and Jake seems completely out of left field and like just more nonsense. However, when some thought has been put to things in the episode, it can be realized that there actually is a logic to this accusation. Not necessarily good logic, but it's not just an arbitrary shift of blame either. In particular, they ''did'' warn Finn and Jake. Consider that they had ''locked'' themselves in the dungeon. Not just hid away, locked themselves in. They were also upset when Finn and Jake broke down the door. But that can't have been entirely to keep the food they were hoarding from being eaten, because they knew they were out of food. Well, here's the thing. When Finn and Jake shout to them, they respond flatly with "Go away. No food here." At first blush, this seems to be saying to go away because they have no food, but that doesn't make much sense, as they were likely expecting food to be delivered. Instead, what they really meant was, "Go away, don't bring any food in here." The Lemongrabs KNOW that they ''can not'' stop making children, they outright tell Finn and Jake this. They were keeping themselves locked away from the food they had requested be brought to the castle, so that their children would be fed and they wouldn't be able to get a hold of it and make more children. They were ''not'' expecting seeds to be brought. The seeds would likely not have helped their situation, anyway, as food plants take time to grow. Presumably, the princess sent the seeds because, as is implied by her response to the letter, she thought they were bullshitting being out of food.
* The somewhat contrived character development that the Lemongrabs received in "All Your Fault," going from antisocial [[ChildHater child haters]] to [[BumblingDad loving, adorable fathers]]. However, the fact that they ''are'' good, if not merely compassionate, parents is not surprising, from a psychological standpoint. It is surprisingly, and heartwarmingly, common in RealLife, for people like Lemongrab- people who had shitty childhoods and/or were abused by their parents- to be the most caring and affectionate parents. Lemongrab had a ''very'' shitty childhood- if you can even call his early years his childhood. He was deprived of love and affection for the first massive chunk of his life. People like this are often ''expected'' to be bad parents, (because it's common for people who were abused as children to later abuse their own children, due to a lack of affection and role models in their own lives,) but they can often be some of the kindest and most tender parents to their own children. It seems strange that Princess Bubblegum was a rather bad parent to Lemongrab while Lemongrab ended up being a really ''good'' parent to his own babies, but this scenario is '''really''' [[RealityIsUnrealistic common in real life]].
* Are the Lemon Children [[BodyHorror deformed]]? Or are they only deformed in the eyes of "normal" people- and actually [[RidiculouslyCuteCritter perfect, even beautiful]], in the eyes of lemons? [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments Oh my god]].
* Two points of FridgeBrilliance related to Lemongrab's strange attitudes towards children: One, Lemongrab was shut away in his castle for (presumably) years. He likely never encountered a child while he was there. Two, many candy people are very small, child-sized regardless of age (Starchy, for instance), and all of them are [[GenericCuteness generically cute]], so there's really no visual cue to engender a "protect the small thing" response from Lemongrab. He doesn't interact with any children in "Too Young" (outside of the storyboard) besides the fairly competent Finn and the aged-down Bubblegum, and the Pup Gang in "You Made Me" are pretty awful to him (for further [[SympatheticPOV perception]], view their treatment of him less from the perspective of a [[ControlFreak control freak adult]], and more the perspective of an already mentally unbalanced ''kid''). He likely didn't even ''comprehend'' what distinguished a child from anything else until he [[BabiesMakeEverythingBetter started making]] [[PapaWolf his own]], so he'd have no particular qualms hurting them, either.
* It makes sense that the Gumball Guardians know Peppermint Butler is evil, since they can DetectEvil.
* Princess Bubblegum didn't leave behind the formula for candy life- she left behind the formula for NEUROATYPICAL candy life! This is why Lemongrab 2 has the same "disorder" as Lemongrab, and why all of the Lemon People seem to be affected, as well. If Princess Bubblegum had left behind the formula for creating "normal" candy people, then the Lemon People wouldn't have all been so "special."
* Lemongrab completely [[NakedFreakOut flipping his shit]] in "Too Young" just after he was created makes a ''hell'' of a lot more sense when you remember that he was literally a newborn- and newborn babies typically respond to their first moments of life by screaming, flailing, and crying in terror and confusion. Also makes a bit more sense when one thinks of Lemongrab not as insane, but as an adult with the mind of a very young child.
* Given how messed-up Marceline's past is, you'd expect her to be a LOT less stable than she is, especially considering that it's unlikely she's ever had access to a therapist. But, then again, she's also had 1,000 years to work out her issues.
* Why is Ice King holding a SanityBall during his time with the Island Lady? Well, if you believe that the Crown has to push more of its own will on him when he's interacting with things/people from his past, then that makes sense -- since Island Lady is completely unconnected to his past, the Crown could let Simon have more control of the mental reins, and he would be more like his old self.
* The Lemongrabs calling each other [[spoiler: brother]], before proceeding to [[spoiler: beat the ever-loving shit]] out of each other and then attempt to [[spoiler: eat each other]] makes a ''lot'' more sense to anyone who has ever had a [[spoiler: sibling]]. It is '''extremely''' common for real-life [[spoiler: sibling]]s to get into horrible, violent fights. In their universe, they're just acting like regular [[spoiler: brother]]s!
* In ''Jake Suit'', why is Finn able to have half his head dipped in a volcano without giving up the bet with Jake? Well, he has been hanging out with Flame Princess for a while now hasn't he? He himself noted at one point that her flames were hurting less...
* Remember when Finn and Jake first met Billy, and they tried to follow his example and be heroes with community activism? Well, they failed. But look at what's been happening with Ice King. They are basically keeping a crazy old man out of trouble by spending time with him and keeping him distracted! Community activism!
* In ''Sky Witch'', a picture of PB and Marcy can be found [[HideYourLesbians in PB's closet.]]
* The end of Fire and Frost. [[spoiler: After Finn blows it with Flame Princess, who is he with? Ice King, AKA Simon, a man who once drove away the woman he loved. Only Finn doesn't have a magic crown making him crazy to blame.]]
* [[spoiler: It also shows that Finn is really entering puberty-acting without thinking, thinking below the waist, etc.]] Finn's dream seemed to be showing that as well, [[spoiler: as he seemed to turn into a bizarre, hideous man-child. In the dream he turned into essentially a baby, but with long, hairy man legs, as if showing he wasn't quite grown up yet. It reflects the feelings of a lot of boys his age: trying to be seen as adult, but still being young; feeling the awkwardness of their transition; struggling with their still-childish mannerisms, etc.]]
* Why did Lemongrab 2 make such a drastic personality change from the original? As Princess Bubblegum mentioned in "Too Old", the last time she saw them they were [[SingleMindedTwins completely identical.]] Then it hit me. It was precisely because they were so alike that caused Lemongrab 2 to become Lemongrab 1's [[PolarOppositeTwins polar opposite.]] Lemongrab has repeatedly shown an inability to read social cues and is unable to understand the effects of his actions toward others. This reached its height in "Another Five More Short Graybles" where Lemongrab 1 tried to swallow Lemongrab 2 in a fit of rage after his Lemon Sweets doll was broken. The trauma of this act causes Lemongrab 2 to finally realize how much an obnoxious jerk he and the Earl are to those in the Candy Kingdom, because he and his brother were the exact same in personality and temperament. To him, it was like gazing into a mirror and witnessing his own flaws. As a result, he becomes much more subdued, not raising his voice nor objecting to his cruel treatment from his brother's hands because he believes he deserves to be punished out of guilt.
* In "The New Frontier", it's stated that when the Cosmic Owl appears in a dream, it means that the dream is revealing the circumstances of one of the people appearing there (likely the dreamer). In "Prisoners of Love", however, the Ice King casually encounters the Cosmic Owl ("you're a sociopath!"). It seems like a contradiction, but there's a possible explanation: [[spoiler: since the crown has given Simon an unnaturally long life, it's possible that the Cosmic Owl has appeared several times during occasions where the Ice King (as a human) would've normally died, but didn't due to his powers (sort of like "failed" croak dreams); maybe, the Owl could do this as a reminder to Simon that he lives on borrowed time]]. To support this, in "Prisoners of Love", the dream appears after the Ice King has fallen unconscious due to Finn kicking him very hard. He even gets cartoony "dead eyes".
* Why would Maja consider Princess Bubblegum's shirt that she got from Marceline more sentimental than Hambo even though Marceline clearly had a deep connection with it? [[spoiler: Because as we've seen recently, Princess Bubblegum has to forgo her emotions and morals in order to rule her kingdom, as well as to make sure that she can make clear progress with her experiments. Because of this, Bubblegum's repressed emotions and ethics would only have one outlet, the shirt Marceline gave her! This is why Maja wanted the shirt; after she got the energy she needed from Hambo, she got the only thing that Bubblegum ever treasured, giving her emotional energy that was greater than Hambo altogether!]]
* "A thought: Lemonhope must have existed before "Too Old," because the Princess erased the candy-life formula from the Lemongrabs' heads back in "All Your Fault." Lemonhope must have been created at the same time as all the other lemon children. So why didn't we see him around back in"All Your Fault?" Because he was locked in the bathroom."
* Lemongrab once told the princess that she was "too old!" but he didn't mean that metaphorically. He actually meant it, as of "The Vault" We see that PB is a lot older than we think, so she really is "Too Old" For all of this.
* Lemongrab 2 ultimately being a better person than the original isn't that surprising. When Princess Bubblegum made this Lemongrab she actually knew what she was doing. That and he didn't have to live with the baggage of being considered a reject, as mentioned above.
* In Play date the Ice King is seen wearing his crown, which should be in Gunter's head as he is rebuilding the Ice Kingdom, by the end of the episode [[spoiler: we learn that Gunter has already finished rebuilding, and the Ice King is lying so he can stay longer with Finn and Jake.]]
* "Return to the Nightosphere" and "Daddy's Little Monster" actually contain a bit of a StealthPun; the bananas are excrement. In other words, that shit is bananas.
* Notice the features of the Ice King: cold skin, long beard, long pointy nose, pointy teeth, pointy ears, and a power over frost and ice. Where did he find the Ice Crown that made him that way? [[Myth/NorseMythology Northern Scandinavia]]. The Ice Crown didn't just turn him into an ice-powered mutant, it turned him into a [[OurGiantsAreBigger Jotun.]] (remember, original Norse folktales are remarkably ambiguous about the actual size of jotuns. For the Ice King to be human-sized rather than what we'd think of as a "giant" isn't at all far fetched)
* In "Red Throne", Cinnamon is [[TookALevelInBadass much more competent and capable than he ever was before]]. What happened? Perhaps living in the Fire Kingdom is the cause. Back in "The Other Tarts", Princess Bubblegum explains Cinnamon Bun's stupidity as him being "half baked". She wasn't using a euphemism, she actually meant he wasn't fully cooked. Cinnamon Bun's fire protection doesn't completely protect him and his time in the Fire Kingdom has baked him to perfection, increasing his intelligence and maturity as well. This is backed up in the scene where he takes a fireball to the face and it makes his sunken, impacted eyes pop out and permanently become wide and alert.
* A combination of this and TearJerker. In a tragic example of TruthInTelevision, it's sadly very common for children with abusive parents, usually physically abusive parents, to grow up and become abusive to their own children. Lemongrab's horrific treatment of his children seems to be the result of his traumatic first years... [[FridgeHorror which were initially presented]] in a [[PlayedForLaughs comedic light]]...
* The difference in [[CainAndAbel morality]] between the two Lemongrabs was actually well foreshadowed. When Lemongrab and Lemongrab 2 were playing with the Lemonsweet doll they had vastly different ideas about how it should be treated. Lemongrab 2 wanted to put it to bed so it could get some rest while Lemongrab 1 wanted it to keep dancing for his own amusement. The differences were already fairly clear.
* Princess Bubblegum has been basically confirmed to be ReallySevenHundredYearsOld. This adds yet another reason for her to avoid romantic relationships, and ''especially'' a relationship with [[TokenHuman Finn]] -- while he likely hasn't realized it yet, she's going to outlive him by a long, long time. Possibly doubles as FridgeHorror.
** Even if PB was willing to risk such an eventuality, One should bear in mind that Finn has tried to pursue a relationship with Princess Bubblegum since he was ''12'', or possibly even younger than that, while PB herself has been technically an adult since long before Finn was even born. Bubblegum's efforts to encourage Finn that they'd be BetterAsFriends may have also been to avoid coming across as a pedophile.
* The Lich [[spoiler:is ultimately defeated when Finn throws the Guardian's regenerating blood on him, turning him into an innocent infant with seemingly no memory of his past. It's been stated that the Lich keeps cheating death at every turn, so what's the only thing that could stop him? ''Life''.]]
Season 5’s premiere’s AlternateUniverse Finn’s [[spoiler:last name]] is [[spoiler:Mertens]]. Season 6’s premiere reveals that [[spoiler:Finn’s father’s name is Martin]].
* The Lich [[spoiler:has a FreakOut VillainousBreakdown when Finn throws the Guardian's regenerating blood on him and he begins coming back to life]]. This makes sense when you remember that the Lich's entire ''reason for being'' is the extermination of all life. [[spoiler:When he's being resurrected, he BECOMES life, IE, he {{Logic Bomb}}s because he's becoming the thing he at least sees it's his purpose for existing to destroy. Is it any wonder he lost it?]]
* In the episode "Blade of Grass" the grass wizard tells Finn the sword will "be part of him for eternity." In the season six premiere, Finn loses his arm and presumably the sword. But the flower growing shows it's still part of him. This was foreshadowed all the way back in its introductory episode.
* Prismo says his wishes normally have an ironic twist to them (though it seems to only apply to big reality changers). [[spoiler:Jake's wish is to change the Lich's wish.]] This has an ironic twist in the end: [[spoiler:it traps the Lich in the time room, allowing him to kill Prismo.]] What makes this even better is that it technically was Prismo’s wish that Jake spoke, especially since Prismo had to lead Jake all the way through to the end of wording the wish.
* In 'Simon and Marcy', Simon seems paranoid of what might be lurking around. While we see some mutants in the episode, remember that the ''Lich'' was probably running loose at the time (having been born when [[spoiler:the mushroom bomb fell]] but Billy, being at least half magical, probably wasn't even ''born'' yet to stop him). With this in mind, his paranoia makes a ''lot'' more sense. Not to mention he may well be in the early stages of Wizard Eyes and hasn't realized they can't physically harm him or Marcy yet...
* As seen in 'Bad Little Boy' and 'Mystery Dungeon', Ice King [[spoiler:has an obsession with Fionna and Cake, wanting them to be real and whatnot.]] Later on, [[spoiler:Betty's takedown of Bella Noche is heavily reminiscent of Fionna's takedown of the Ice Queen. It could be that said obsession is another subconscious manifestation of Simon's longing for his fiancé!]]
* In 'Escape From the Citadel', we see that [[spoiler:Finn's dad didn't really know how to answer any of his questions about why Martin would abandon him.]] From the way he was reacting though, it's very possible that [[spoiler:Martin didn't even know Finn existed. It's possible he got Finn's mom pregnant and left before even finding out.]] Considering he's considered a dangerous criminal who maybe doesn't stay in the same place too long, it doesn't seem that unlikely.
* Okay so technically this didn't happen in the show itself... but in the [[http://tylerkungpao.tumblr.com/post/35365952684 original storyboard]] for The Lich, Billy told Finn of his father being trapped in the Citadel a full season before it actually happened. Of course, this wasn't actually Billy, it was the Lich in Billy's body. Later, when Finn tries to go to the Citadel, it plays directly into the hands of the Lich. This would imply that originally, it was going to be his backup plan all along - in the event of failing at his wish, he'd get to try again immediately.
* In his first appearance, the Magic Man claims to be teaching people valuable life lessons. In Sons Of Mars, he sort of has an epiphany while Finn is off saving Jake. In Food Chain, Magic Man actually was trying to teach Finn the importance of the food chain, albeit in his own twisted way.
* Finn getting his arm back at the end of "Breezy" might seem completely out of left field...until you remember that at least one of Finn's alternate selves got their arm back too. At the end of "The Vault," Shoko falls into toxic waste and mutates into a giant worm monster. What does she notice right before she dies? Her missing arm has ''grown back''. In other words, yes, there was a lot of {{foreshadowing}} that Finn was going to lose his arm, but there was at least one instance where it was foreshadowed that he'd get it back. So yeah, Finn getting his arm back may seem like another egregious case of {{Status Quo Is God}}, but it didn't come completely out of nowhere.
* The title card of "Princess Day" shows a bottle of sunscreen in Marceline's hand. Fail to notice that and you might spend the whole episode wondering if the writers just forgot about the Vampire Queen's weakness to daylight.
* The reveal in "Joshua and Margaret Investigations" that [[spoiler: Jake is really the offspring of an evil shapeshifter]] may explain why Jake and at least a couple of his kids [[spoiler: have some evil tendencies]]. It may be a case of VillainousLineage. This also explains how it's relatively easy to have half-dog half-rainicorn children. [[spoiler: Jake's shape shifter lineage "filled in the gaps."]]
* [[spoiler: Why was the shape shifter even on that world? It was planning to have its child there. Its home plan probably isn't hospitable for children. That would also explain why it was so interested in Margaret. They were already going to have a child, so they would be ready to raise one. The baby supplies in its lair were likely a backup if it couldn't find a proper host family for its child. It likely only lingered for so long after to make sure the bite took. When it realized that Margaret attacked it, it probably knew why she was there. Notice how it only seemed knocked out while she was around, but as soon as she left it got up like it was nothing, then left. ]]
* Also in "Wizards Only Fools" when P.B. says she doesn't believe in magic, Jake shows off his shapeshifting powers and rhetorically asks what she would call that. She says it was probably a genetic mutation of some kind. [[spoiler: She was right.]]
* Back in "What Have You Done?", Ice King claimed that he made his crown with stolen magic, but in "Holly Jolly Secrets", it was revealed that he bought it back when he was Simon. However, in "Evergreen", the crown is revealed to have been created by Ice King's past incarnation, Evergreen, using magic crystals he stole from a lava monster. So in a way, Ice King was telling the truth about making the crown.
** Evergreen isn't Ice King's past incarnation. The Ice Elemental's incarnation in the 21st century is Patience St. Pim, and Simon just found the crown. That said, Gunther's wish with the crown is to be more like Evergreen, which gave him some of the ice elemental's traits, most notably the whole "Gunther No" thing which led to Ice King and Farmworld Finn calling people "Gunter" at random. It's not impossible that the crown stored Gunther's memories of Evergreen creating the crown and after 1,000 years, Ice King conflated Evergreen with himself.
* In "Jake the Brick" the Ice King feels sad for the rabbit when its burrow is detroyed, perhaps because he knows first-hand what it's like to have your home destroyed.
* Ever since "Jake the Dog", this troper has always wondered why there was only one "Lich Bomb" that produced the show's true villain, when in such an apocalyptic war a powerful country would naturally develop several weapons of mass destruction. After watching "Evergreen", however, and realizing the true origin of the Lich is the comet that wiped out the dinosaurs, it's no wonder there was only a single Lich: either someone found that one unique material that crashed into Earth and weaponized it, or the nuke struck the same spot that the comet had fallen, re-energizing it and mutating it upon explosion.
* It's no wonder whoever wears the Ice King's Crown is the only person in the world (even Billy was killed by the Lich, and his Gauntlet only ever worked once) who could match the Lich blow-to-blow; the Crown was made specifically to destroy the Lich's origin.
* In ''Evergreen'', when Gunter puts on the Crown, he is only able to make a fog. Why? His deepest wish was to be an Ice Wizard, like the titular character. But he had limited knowledge on how to control it, and no knowledge of how to concentrate the Crown. As it's been said, the Crown grants the wearer's deepest wish, so as others fell victim to it, the Crown gained and perfected their respective wishes.
* Also, when Evergreen discusses the Crown, it's stated that the sources of the Wizards' power will survive. The Wizards are Fire, Ice, Candy, and Slime, with more implied. Sounds like the princesses and their kingdoms are actually the reincarnations of the Wizards' and their powers, only they rule politically instead of magically.
* It's revealed that Finn [[spoiler:is the {{Reincarnation}} of a butterfly, his soul born from the Blue Catalyst Comet.]] Why is that so significant? The Lich, [[spoiler:born from the Green Catalyst Comet,]] is more or less the AnthropomorphicPersonification of Mass Extinction. What do [[spoiler:butterflies symbolize? [[ButterflyOfDeathAndRebirth Rebirth]]. Finn is, and always will be, the Lich's GoodCounterpart.]]
* In ''It Came From the Nightosphere'', Hunson says Gunter is the most evil thing he has encountered. Five seasons later [[spoiler:Orgalorg is revealed,]] and suddenly it makes a lot more sense.
* Jake's kids take a very short time to become adults. This isn't that off from actual dogs, horses, and a number of other animals, whose childhood is quick compared to their lifespan, unlike humans.
* The villager's haste to blame Marceline for sucking the blood from the cows and other farm animals makes even more sense when you find out she has a precedence for that sort of behavior. In "Joshua and Margaret Investigations" they almost took a case about a vampire girl harassing sheep and cattle in the grasslands. While it is implied that that is Marceline, at the time it still could have been another vampire girl...until "Stakes" happened and we learned that Marceline was literally the last vampire in Ooo.
* The creature that bit Joshua has the same voice as Jake, further cementing that it is his real "father" (I guess Joshua would be his "mother"?).
* P.B. was right, Jake isn't a magical dog, but has a genetic mutation that allows him to stretch and shape shift.
* The episode "James Baxter the Horse" is an allegory for learning animation. James Baxter is a real animator who has worked for both Disney and Pixar. It is not a coincidence the titular character of the episode is a horse when his best-known film is "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmaron" (obviously about a horse). As for the allegory: Finn and Jake become inspired by a professional James Baxter who is a master at making people happy, so they decide to do it too. They quickly realize that copying him isn't the most effective way to do it, but they must develop their own unique style. After some experiments (and frame by frame analysis), they succeed, and take it further by going to school. After some complex work at the institute, they become good at making people happy, by doing their own thing. This could all be about the animators being inspired by and trying to copy a master's craft at animating beautiful things to make people happy, eventually finding their own style. Not only that, but James Baxter (the horse) has way more fluid animation than everybody else in the show. Also, this episode's title card did have James Baxter drawing at a drafting table.
* Don't Look is an elaborate reference to "All is Vanity."
** The [[http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/adventuretimewithfinnandjake/images/0/02/S7e28_titlecard.png/revision/latest?cb=20160330183026 title card]] of this episode vs. [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Allan_Gilbert#/media/File:Allisvanity.jpg the painting]].
** The Legend --> Dead mountain will "Change yourself into the person you always wanted to be."
*** Finn looks at himself (reflection) and wants to be taller (vanity).
*** The surface image Finn has of people is what they turn into. But that ignores the depth of who they are.
*** Finn does this to himself when he wants to be taller (vanity). The people around Finn help him accept himself again. Breaking the curse of Finn's vain desire to be taller.
** Vanity (the definition and synonyms helped round out my understanding of the episode)
*** excessive pride in or admiration of one's own appearance or achievements. synonyms: conceit, narcissism, self-love, self-admiration, self-absorption, self-regard, the quality of being worthless or futile. (when he sees himself as his father)
* Finn's depression in the episode "Music Hole" over the broken Finn Sword makes a lot of sense when one remembers the origins of it and his connection to it. Because of the crack on the gem, it is kinda broken and Finn feels similarly like that.
* Ice King's obsession with Bubblegum even more so than the other princesses all makes perfect sense when we meet Betty. Intelligent, determined, tough... the two are very much alike.
* A wonderful example involving [[spoiler: the two known Ice Elementals (not counting Ice King, as his powers come from the crown and are unnatural)]] who have very meaningful names. [[spoiler: Urgence Evergreen]] was in an extinction event that needed to be taken care of immediately. [[spoiler: Patience St. Pim]] decided that, instead of being reincarnated, [[spoiler: she would freeze herself to live through the Mushroom War]] which led to an extreme amount of waiting.
* The lyrics of "Time Adventure". They're referring to the fact that [[LeaningOnTheFourthWall you, the viewer,]] will always be able to watch ''Adventure Time'' at any point at any time, and as long as you can do that, the adventure will never end.
* The Bear from "In Your Footsteps" working for The Lich makes sense when you remember Billy's song, The Lich and The Bear were both part of Billy's RoguesGallery so it makes sense that they would pull an EnemyMine.
* Gum people being hit with Dum Dum Juice turns them into stupid Candy People. Peppermint Butler, however, is simply turned into a child. Why? Because he already is a Candy Person made with the Dum Dum formula, even though a pretty smart one.
* Finn's always looked a bit out of shape, despite all his walking and fighting and adventuring that should keep him fit as a fiddle. Maybe it's just a quirk of the art style, but then again Finn frequently visits the Candy Kingdom, and we know that he munches on the candy there. Unlimited access to sugar is not going to do wonders to anybody's physique.
* In ''Together Again'', It's revealed Life and Death, as in the personifications of life and death are in love. This makes perfect sense considering life and death are two sides of the same coin.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Fridge Horror Part 1]]
* In the first episode, Cinnamon Bun is seen attempting to do a backflip, and ends up hitting his head as a result. Episodes after that, Cinnamon Bun speaks and acts like a person with serious mental problems. '''Cinnamon Bun got brain damage.'''
* In Mystery Dungeon, [[spoiler:IK's book is given life by the life giver who later appears in Little Dude. That means it's evil. That's why it stomps on IK & farts on him. The book can be heard saying "Write in me!" multiple times & when IK is talking to Fionna in the imagination zone & N.E.P.T.R. is talking to IK while pretending to be Fionna the book says "Write it down! Write it down!". What will happen when IK inevitably does write in him? Will he unleash evil versions of most of the cast of Adventure Time With Fionna & Cake who know everything they need to know to manipulate their nice counterparts?]]
* It's often hinted that The Land of Ooo is a post-apocalyptic wasteland, which means that all of its fun, quirky characters are more or less the end result of a nuclear war and the ensuing genetic mutation from radiation. It's more depressing than horrifying, but if it makes viewers feel any better, there's also magic involved.
* The rainicorns ate "soy people" a delicious human substitute... the thing is, considering all the sentient candy in Ooo, how much of a stretch is it to believe that there are sentient people made out of soy?
* How much of a stretch is it to assume the Rainicorns are ''[[ImAHumanitarian why]]'' [[ImAHumanitarian humans seem to be extinct]]?
** [[spoiler:Though it is shown to not be the case. Rainicorns did not wipe out humans as most of them found their way to Founder Island, as shown in the Islands miniseries.]]
* Consider the Rainicorns' abilities. They can change the color of their surroundings at will, as Lady demonstrated in "My Two Favorite People", they can phase through objects, and they can hold people in their bodies as they phase. So then, imagine the level of apex predator that Rainicorns must have been. They could hide in any environment, could conceivably disorient their prey by changing their surroundings, and could grab you and immobilize you before you even knew they were there. They could also take multiple victims at a time, and just hold on to them until they were ready to eat them one at a time.
* Consider the reaction of Lady's parents when they thought that Finn was "a treat." They stated that Jake was "very generous" to offer Finn as an entree. This seems to indicate that humans are a rare, but '''available''', treat for Rainicorns. ''Are there other humans being kept and bred in the Rainicorn dimension as food?!?''
* In "Her Parents", Lady mentions that her parents are crazy about Dogs due to one saving her father during the war. She then shows Finn a picture of her dad with a Dog...who is in handcuffs.
* Finn's IdiotHero tendencies are a lot less funny when you consider the amount of times he's been hit in the head...
* In "The Other Tarts" what would have happened if Finn's plan had worked, and he had delivered his tarts first?
* In "Ricardio the Heart Guy" Princess Bubblegum tells Ricardio she'll give him some candy. Does she do this to people who are sad? Give them her subjects to eat?
* The Lich is shown with the ability to [[spoiler:BodySurf if his present body is defeated. How do we know his rotten, decaying body was his original one?]]
* In "The Pods" it apparently turns out the Baby Pigs from the 1st pod are evil, but here's a thought: What if it was the Fairy Wands that were actually evil? What if they have the ability to corrupt the minds of anyone who uses them and turns them evil as long as they hold onto them, but they need someone with weak free will, such as little baby piggies. This could mean that Finn and Jake essentially exploded...[[spoiler: meaning KILLED...]] innocent baby piglets...
* One intended one in "Morituri te Salutamus". When [[spoiler: Finn defeats the Fight King, he notices that all of the freed gladiator ghosts are walking off in pairs. Finn guesses that they are friends, much like him and Jake. Keep in mind that the Fight King hypnotized Finn with raw power to kill his best friend. Not to mention that, during their fights, the ghosts kept asking for forgiveness, presumably from the friends that they killed.]]
* If one pays attention to the wounds on the gladiator ghosts [[spoiler: and the weapons that they wield, one can quickly determine the gladiator pairs that killed each other with.]] The horror gets worse when you realize [[spoiler:they were more than friends - they were ''lovers'' who were forced to kill each other.]] WordOfGod has confirmed as much. In the initial battle, one of them shouts out "Hyperion! [[spoiler: My love!"]]

* Not really a Horror as such but it doesn't really fit in Headscratchers either. In one episode, The Ice King wonders if he just needs to have a good night's sleep to be happy. He's about 600 according to Pen Ward. So has the Ice King just never slept, or at least not properly? That's... horrible.
* In the Nightosphere episode, Gunter is described as absolute evil. What does this mean for [[spoiler: his baby?]]
** [[spoiler:It is later revealed that Gunter is actually a cosmic deity named Orgalorg who destroyed worlds.]]
* TheReveal in "Adventure Time with Fionna and Cake" causes so many FridgeHorror thoughts that it's not even funny.
* After the fight with the Ice Queen, Cake busts in, and immediately tries to attack Prince Gumball in a rage. Why? Well... they're in the bedroom, Fiona's dress was ripped from the waist down, and Cake heard Fionna screaming "Get off me!" before she came in. Cake thought that the Prince was trying to force himself on her!
* Could the Lub Glubs be something that was born from the Lich King? Think about it... There's also the fact that one of them was munching on a skull with a hat identical to [[DistaffCounterpart Fionna's]] on it...
* Finn [[spoiler: trying to leave to Jake]] in "No One Can Hear You", considering Jake's mental state at the time. [[spoiler: The most important thing in the world to Jake was his surprise birthday fantasy, which he believed to have been waiting six months for. It must have been heartbreaking for Jake when even his best friend didn't believe him, and then lied and tried to escape twice.]] That was probably what caused him to completely lose it in the sewer.
* In the two-year span of the series, [[KidHero Finn]] has fought any number of terrifying, [[ApocalypseHow potentially world-destroying monsters]]; almost lost his loved ones; almost been killed ''himself'' too many times to count; been [[MindRape possessed]] (''twice!''); and is basically responsible for the ''whole frickin' world''. He is ''twelve'' at the start of the series, and is already quite battle-hardened - like, years-of-combat-experience battle-hardened. This would imply that he has been dealing with all the above, in addition to normal childhood problems, since he was ''less than ten years old''.
* Think about The Lich for a moment. Ageless, endless creature who is also known for trying to end the world as we all know it? Who's to say he didn't succeed the first time? Perhaps HE [[spoiler: is the cause of the Apocalypse.]]
* In "Guardians of Sunshine", Finn and Jake get ''inside'' Beemo. One can't help but wonder if Beemo felt violated afterwards, especially after they literally tear a hole breaking out of him.
* There was a lot of this in the episode "New Frontier". What if Jake actually did kill himself in that episode? Imagine what Finn would do if Jake ever died... Especially because Finn considers himself to be related to Jake, so the impact on Finn would be like losing every friend he'd ever had. [[WhatTheHellHero Which makes Jake kind of a dick for attempting it just because of "destiny."]]
* In "Holly Jolly Secrets" Ice King [[spoiler:AKA Simon just put on the crown once and it made him do terrible things. What was in that crown? Was it the previous owner that gave Simon the wizard eyes? Add in the fact that Simon seemed obsessed with the crown more and more each couple of times he had it on. Was that part of the crown too]]?
* Why he obsesses over girls with "Princess" in their name? [[spoiler: That's the only remnant of his memory of his fiancé, Betty. He called her his '''''princess'''''...]]
* One has to wonder what other horrifying events caused things in Ooo to be the way they are. Besides the whole nuclear holocaust thing, anything weird and quirky could be a horrifying Deconstruction in disguise.
* The episode "When Wedding Bells Thaw" has a helpless princess trapped by an ice-based object with the real person screaming for help in her mind. HarsherInHindsight does not begin to describe it.
* In the final video diary, [[spoiler:Simon is almost at full Ice King appearance and he is tearfully telling whoever finds the tapes to watch over him to make sure he doesn't hurt anyone. Did he realize how far gone he was at that point or did he hurt someone very badly, even killed them]]? This has even more horrifying implications when you find out that [[spoiler:Marceline was traveling around with the Ice King while he was being driven crazy]].
* The crown Ice King's using still turning Ice King more and more insane as the series goes on. Look at him in the Animated Short and look at him in "Still". One can tell Ice King isn't exactly stable compared to when he was first shown.
* The rhyme Finn says in "Marceline's Closet" could be about a nuclear bomb and its mushroom cloud, similar to how "Ring Around the Rosie" refers to the Black Death:
--> Over the mountain the ominous cloud, coming to cover the land in a shroud, hide in a bushel, a basement, or cave, but when the Cloud comes a' hunting, no one is safe!
* Why ''does'' Wildberry Princess have so much meat around, anyway?
* TheReveal about Ice King's past is bad enough, but think about it from Finn's perspective at realizing [[spoiler:Ice King used to be ''human''.]]
* In "Marceline's Closet", Finn's paper airplane lights the stove on fire. Nobody ever puts it out. There's a fire brewing in Marceline's basement for the rest of the episode.
* Why does Finn actually keep a piece of PB's hair? He may have a crush on her, but it seems their relationship could go beyond just flirting or talking...
* In "Freak City", there's a town on fire that is near where Gork and the other Freaks are. Gork has the ability to spit out lava, and sense the town's inhabitants hate the freaks, Gork was the reason that the town was on fire.
* [[BodyHorror Princess Princess Princess.]] This is five girls meshed together by something... or someone...
* If there is a consistency to how the afterlife in Ooo works, then the events of "Ghost Princess" suggest that a person could potentially be doomed to not remembering anything about their life and not being able to ascend for eternity. Now ''that's'' a depressing thought.
* Jesse Moynihan recently said that Princess Bubblegum isn't just Lemongrab's creator... She's his MOTHER. That's right- Too Young was basically a whole episode about a mother abandoning her mentally unstable child, and bullying him. It isn't as funny to watch her push him to the ground, call him names, incessantly cause him physical pain by spicing, cause him to fall out of a castle window and smash his head into the ground, fall out of a tree... He may not be a nice person, but it's Princess Bubblegum's fault that he's like that. Instead of helping him, it seems as if she's more content to stick him in a castle and have him raised by servants in isolation, and be borderline abusive to him. With this knowledge in mind, Too Young isn't really as funny anymore- it's really freaking depressing and disturbing. Even more so that the creators of the show always manage to justify PB's abuse and neglect.
* Here's one involving, once again, the Lich, possibly also involving WhatCouldHaveBeen. Wrap your head around this: as we know, the Lich was originally called the Lich ''King'' (changed because of a villain from VideoGame/WorldOfWarcraft with the same name). As we also know, throughout the series, we've met a series of royalty who each rule over their own land and people. Bubblegum Princess has the Candy Kingdom (all of the people are sweets/pastries and the main city is one big gingerbread castle), the Ice King has the Ice Kingdom (a large frozen tundra), Lumpy Space Princess (lives in Lumpy Space), Hotdog Princess is ruler of the hotdog people, Wildberry Princess has Wildberry Kingdom, Duke of Nuts with the Duchy of Nuts, Fight King has the Fight Arena, etc., etc.. With this in mind: does/did the Lich King have his ''own kingdom''? And if he does, ''is it occupied by the undead or Liches''?
* From the two-parter Nightosphere special. First of all, the horrible condition the horrible, literally hellish condition the demons live in. Secondly, the two major cases of FateWorseThanDeath- the demon who was forced to continuously vomit bananas forever (especially considering that, for demons, bananas are basically excrement), and the demon whose head was transformed into abs. Third, the implication that Hunson's father is an even worse person than Hunson.
* The demons you see are drawn in a different style than most of the characters, notably the wide, almond eyes with dull pupils and their lemon-shaped heads. Who else is drawn in this style?
* If Bananas are the equivalent of [[spoiler:demonic feces,]] that means that a portal to the nightosphere has been or was at some point open millennia ago. For thousands of years, humans have been ingesting [[spoiler:demon dung.]] This raises some disturbing questions about the Candy Kingdom's Banana Guards.
* Goliad was locked in PB's basement.
* Goliad [[spoiler:is made from the DNA in PB's tooth,]] went crazy and turned more or less evil. What does this say about PB? Especially when one considers that [[spoiler: the counter to Goliad is a Sphinx made from Finn's DNA that turns down ruling the kingdom just to keep Goliad in check, locked in a psychic battle. FOR ALL TIME]]. Finn is too good for PB.
* The fact that we are seeing the Ice King, though seemingly nicer after "Holly Jolly Secrets" but batshit insane during "Princess Monster Wife", in the final days of his sanity, a man who for a brief moment seemed to be slightly normal. [[spoiler: The crown]] would have none of that and somehow forced the Ice King to forget his past and continue his descent into pure madness.
* [[spoiler:The crown]] is FridgeHorror in itself. Whoever wears it is warped both physically and mentally until they're a pale imitation of their former self. You have to wonder why it does this, and, more alarmingly, [[TheCorrupter who made it?]]
* Does Lemongrab know that he's a failed experiment, and know how messed-up he is in the head? For a combination of FridgeHorror and a HUUUGE FridgeTearJerker, we have Princess Bubblegum saying: "He was the first one of my experiments gone wrong," RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM. Also, Ian Jones-Quartey said, about Lemongrab's birthday, it's the day he remembers that "someone tried to play God and messed up." What kind of horrible, twisted, mangled excuse for a self-concept does this poor bastard have?!
* Imagine suddenly waking up in a dark, creepy room- having no idea who or where you are or what is going on, and trying to run away or call for help, only to be rendered immobile and unable to communicate in any way but screaming hideously. Then imagine learning a little about your situation- learning that you're a failed experiment that your own creator doesn't even want or like. THEN imagine what it must be like to be totally unable to read social cues, talk normally, or express yourself in a way that doesn't cause people to be put off by you, leading to an extremely isolated, friendless life. Also, add onto that having no family, and no people who care about you. THIS is Lemongrab's whole life. Holy ''shit.''
* Goliad is no longer heir to the throne, seeing as how she is physically unable to rule. If PB dies... that means ''Lemongrab'' will inherit the throne. *shudder* Imagine "Too Young", on a much more epic scale; only imagine Lemongrab after he's been informed that his creator (who has been implied to be his mom, and therefore the only family he has) has passed away. Take a guy who's emotionally unstable already, then kill his mom, and make him the ruler of a kingdom he DESPISES. Yup- the candy people are doomed. It's an even more disturbing realization after the events of "Too Old". Imagine how oppressive life in the Candy Kingdom would be with a sadistic, cannibalistic murderer on the throne.
* Lemongrab is unable to read social cues, has intensely narrow interests and obsessions, lacks social reciprocity and empathy, is often angry, depressed, and anxious, doesn't understand humor, has an irregular manner of speaking, has difficulty controlling the volume of his voice, is an exceedingly picky eater, is obsessed with order, has few self-help skills, and expresses his emotions in ways that confuse people. The earl clearly meets all of the diagnostic criteria for sociopathy and nobody is helping him to adjust or be happy.
* Goliad is a PhysicalGod level being, as well as immortal, and clearly has no value for life in the slightest. Imagine what would happen if her corruption wasn't discovered until she got the idea to kill the one standing between her and the throne, the only one smart enough to create another Candy Spinx capable of combating her.
* In "Beyond This Earthly Realm" The Ice King mentions that his Wizard Eyes allow him to see spiritual beings and he seems to have a massive phobia of the weird creatures that inhabit the spiritual realm. Then consider that in "Holly Jolly Secrets" [[spoiler:he says he screamed at and fought with his "visions" when he put on the crown,]] that makes his phobia of them a bit more disturbing, they probably helped to drive him insane.
* Adventure Time is one of the most horrid examples of ThereAreNoTherapists in the history of television. The Ice King is obviously insane, and more than a few characters are aware of this. Nobody is helping him. Lemongrab (love him or hate him) is... well, mentally unadjusted. Nobody is helping him. The Royal Tart Toter is VERY obviously insane. Nobody is helping him. The demons in the jail of the Nightosphere are obviously intellectually disabled. NOBODY IS HELPING THEM. ''What is wrong with people?!''
* Princess Bubblegum outright said Goliad was too powerful for Finn to beat. Think about the kinds of things PB trusts Finn and Jake to take out, including the freaking ''Lich'', and the fact she views Goliad as too much for him to handle paints a pretty scary image.
* Princess Bubblegum playing favorites with her experiments. What does she do with Lemongrab? She sticks him in a gilded cage outside of the kingdom so she doesn't have to deal with him. What does she do with Goliad? She's sweet to her and even sends her to nursery school.
* The Royal Tart Toter is insane- we all know that. He's also deaf and blind. He has bites taken out of his shoulders, arms, and legs. One assumes that monsters or creatures were eating him on his twisted journeys as he wandered around Ooo, trying to deliver his "tarts" (a squirrel and a pigeon) to the royal palace. However, the truth is even worse than that. In "Princess Cookie," we see the Royal Tart Toter in the Candy Kingdom mental hospital. He's wearing an Elizabeth's collar- a plastic collar worn by animals to keep them from biting their stitches or wounds. [[TearJerker THE ROYAL TART TOTER WAS EATING HIMSELF!]]
* If one considers the foreign dubs to have any canonical significance, this one is a HUGE crossover between FridgeHorror and TearJerker. At the end of Too Young, Lemongrab is heard mumbling to himself, obviously upset about being fired and called a "butt." In the English dub, he's muttering incomprehensibly, and we can't understand him. In the Spanish dub, we can clearly hear what he's saying: "No one loves me. Everyone hates me." In addition to [[TheWoobie piling another heaping layer of sadness onto his already troubled character]], that also says that Lemongrab believes that everyone hates him. He believes the world is out to get him, and is as aware of his status as TheChewToy as the audience is. What must it be like to live like that?
* Expansion on a theory mentioned above. Princess Bubblegum was shown to have treated the mild-mannered Goliad with respect and care and asked Finn and Jake to take her to nursery school. However, she acted nothing but ashamed of the mentally disturbed Lemongrab, and sent him away to live an isolated life in a castle with servants to tend to his every whim and no friends. Goliad turned out to be evil when she took Jake's bad example. Now... if Goliad turned evil after being treated with kindness, think about how Lemongrab is doing in his castle, after being treated as less than a person, pranked in painful ways, fired, insulted, and then replaced. Has his mind completely snapped after the months/years of isolation, loneliness, and deprivation of family and friends? Is he actually evil now? If not, is he completely mentally unstable? Who's to say that Lemongrab won't go completely batshit and try to hurt Princess Bubblegum now? Who's to say that he hasn't gone completely insane already, and is currently wallowing in his own mental illness, his anger slowly festering into a terrible disease?
* In "Sons of Mars" Magic Man says he blows his nose all day. You eventually realize that [[TearJerker he does this because he weeps for Margles.]] What's even sadder is this strange event with Margles is [[WriteWhatYouKnow based on storyboarder Jesse Moynihan's life.]]
* Lemongrab is the first of Princess Bubblegum's experiments gone wrong. THE FIRST ONE- not the ONLY one. Lemongrab is isolated, angry, socially inept, alone, perpetually unhappy, and seriously anxious. HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE LIKE HIM ARE THERE?! How many failed experiments are now SUFFERING because of Princess Bubblegum?
* When Death accepts Abraham Lincoln's immortality in "Sons of Mars", his head rattles and we hear - A GUNSHOT. Since Death exists outside of time, he can claim that immortality whenever he wants. John Wilkes Booth's bullet would not have killed Lincoln in that theater in 1865 if not for the events of THIS EPISODE!
* "BMO Noir" seems to take place entirely in BMO's mind. None of the animals actually talk; that's just BMO doing the voices. Only NEPTr's presence verifies that anything actually happened, and even NEPTr is suspect since he tends to just go along with whatever crazy thing is happening around him. ''BMO is going insane'', and this episode is evidence of it.
* We all know that Lemongrab is more than a little [[TheMentallyDisturbed mentally disturbed]] and has NoSocialSkills. But what is the extent of his social retardation? We saw him upsetting a LOT of people in "Too Young" unintentionally. But it appears that this aspect of his character will take a darker turn in "You Made Me!". He actually watches Princess Bubblegum ''sleep.'' Waaay creepy. He went from an insufferable {{Jerkass}} to a downright creepy StalkerWithoutACrush. If you think of his total inability to relate to people... how far could this guy push social boundaries? Could he actually traumatize someone without knowing it? The guy is socially what Lenny of Literature/OfMiceAndMen is physically. Lenny accidentally kills people because he doesn't know his own strength. What is Lemongrab capable of doing and not knowing?
* [[TearJerker Jake will die when Finn is still young.]] He may live longer than a normal dog due to his magical powers, but in "Dad's Dungeon" it was shown that he was still a small puppy while Finn was a baby, so he's at least aging over twice as fast. Finn only has Jake until he's in his twenties or thirties.
* The Ice King has been stealing princesses LONG before Finn showed up. It is likely that he has already forced a princess to marry him. The Ice King has EXTREME difficulty empathizing with others, and has been shown blatantly ignoring the screams of terror from his kidnapped princesses.
* Lemongrab is an idiot who's TooDumbToLive and has NoSocialSkills and LackOfEmpathy. Is it possible that, in his own castle, he's imprisoned innocent people, and then ''forgot'' about them? Has he accidentally ''killed'' people by sending them to the dungeon, then forgetting about them?
* [[spoiler:Ricardio grabs the unconscious Lady Rainicorn and ties her in a knot. At the end of the episode, Lady reveals that she is pregnant. Just think what could have happened to the babies...]] PB's horrified shriek makes it even worse... Some theorize that this moment is why [[http://media.tumblr.com/64b574bae23922870a009cc56c363adc/tumblr_inline_mmt183rLfY1qksxpg.png Jake Jr.]] [[spoiler: doesn't have a face, and her horn is on the wrong side of her body.]]
* Lemongrab is basically a harmless but obnoxious idiot. But still... The thought that he could be ''in your house'', at ''any time'', and ''watching you sleep every night''? And the fact that he is within whatever ''rights'' Princess Bubblegum gave him actually makes this ''worse!'' Sure, he means no harm, but there's NO way in hell that waking up to see him in your room WOULDN'T be creepy!
* "CASTLE LEMONGRAB HAS NO CITIZENS!" Lemongrab shouts in "You Made Me!". Did the citizens leave because of Lemongrab's [[{{Jerkass}} obnoxiousness]]? Or has it ''always'' been citizen-less? If so... What was Princess Bubblegum ''thinking'' when she stuck Lemongrab there alone, with no one but servants? He's been in that castle for over a year. And he doesn't have any friends. There's no way that scenario wouldn't be a lonely one.

* In "Too Young," the first thing Lemongrab does when he is brought to life is scream and flap his arms. Princess Bubblegum explained that he is a failed experiment- therefore, more than a little mentally unstable. However, the title card of "You Made Me!" depicts the scene of Princess Bubblegum bringing Lemongrab to life as a creepy Frankenstein-esque scene. The title cards are not usually canonically what happened in the show- they usually come from a character's imagination. But was the ''real'' reason newborn Lemongrab freaked out not because he was [[TheMentallyDisturbed crazy]], but because what he saw AROUND him (mad scientist, weird machines, dark room, etc.) was disturbing to him? Could the title card of "You Made Me!" be Lemongrab's disturbing perception of what happened when he was "born," and therefore, why he was so frightened when the princess brought him to life?
* Castle Lemongrab's "[[ElectricTorture reconditioning]]" chamber. Why does it exist? Did Lemongrab have it built in anticipation of new citizens? Or possibly worse: was it always there, as an early attempt at "fixing" LG? He sees nothing at all wrong with using it, despite the creators assuring us he isn't evil...does that imply him using it to "cure" people is a learned behavior? Gives a second meaning to the title 'You Made Me'.
* If PB was able to make a second Lemongrab in his kitchen, then he must have had a substantial amount of candy mass lying around. But why would he have sweets when he hates food with any flavor to it? Remember that he has both a torture chamber and a sword he doesn't shy away from using, and we never see the servants who supposedly care for him.
* [[FridgeBrilliance Princess Bubblegum was once seen eating candy flesh to replenish lost biomass. It's possible that Lemongrab does something similar, and for this reason, has a large stash of lemon candy; just in case he loses candy mass, or gets injured or sick and needs it to regain his health. Also, there were lemons growing all around the castle. Some of them may or may not have been CANDY lemons. And according to WordOfGod, "sugar is the cure-all for Candy People." Lemongrab, being a candy person, probably had quite a bit of sugar in his pantry in case of injury or illness. It isn't a ''very'' far stretch to say that Princess Bubblegum didn't have a lot of trouble finding the ingredients to make a new Lemongrab]].
* If [[spoiler:Lemongrab's clone]] hadn't shown up at that moment to calm Lemongrab down and be his friend, it's very possible that Lemongrab would have killed everyone in the room. And if that had happened, [[spoiler:Lemongrab's clone]] would have walked in on a room filled with corpses, and a psychotic, murderous earl. Also keep in mind that [[spoiler:Lemongrab's clone]] was a [[spoiler:newborn.]]
* The Snail seems to have MediumAwareness, given that it waves at the screen audience each episode. Mortal Folly showed that the Snail isn't just a gag, [[spoiler:and it's now possessed by the Lich.]] Given it's still waving at the audience, this means [[spoiler:[[OmnicidalManiac the Lich]] ]] [[ParanoiaFuel can see us.]] [[TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou Think about that.]] This makes the Ice King's speech in Beyond This Earthly Realm terrifying: [[spoiler: "Can we pull back the veil of static and reach into the source of all being? Behind this curtain of patterns, this random pattern generator- so clever, right here in every home watching us from a one sided mirror."]]
* In an early episode Marceline's dad declares Gunter to be the most evil thing in existence. Which seems silly because he's a cuddly little penguin...
* An idea: the demonic wishing eye makes one more evil in exchange for a wish. Now, what does that mean if Gunter can use it with little effect on himself...
* If Simon hadn't put on the crown, or if somebody else had, he wouldn't have survived the Great Mushroom War. Or, imagine if someone who was not as moral and strong-willed as Simon had put on the Crown instead...
* Marceline is an AntiHero and even admits she's somewhat lost track of her moral code. What would she have been like ''without'' Simon being there for her?
** This is actually shown in the Fionna & Cake spin off series. [[spoiler:In "The Star", it shows a universe of what things would be like if Simon and Marceline never met, where everything is overrun with vampires and Marceline is now a villain led by the Vampire King.]]
* What would ''Ice King'' be like if they hadn't met? Without Marceline, Simon (who had lost pretty much everything by that point) would have no reason to fight the Crown and no personal mission to give him the strength to do so. So it's likely that not only would he have succumbed to the Crown much faster, but by the time the series takes place the Crown would have succeeded in completely dominating his mind. That means that the Ice King would have pretty much no humanity or empathy in him ''at all''. You think canon!Ice King is a sociopath? This version would be a million times worse.
* When Simon found Hambo for Marceline, he was pink. When we see him in present-day, he's rather raggled and grayish. It ''could'' be wear and tear from who-knows-how-long she had it, ''or'' at one point Marceline was starving to the point where she had to drink Hambo's red.
* When Simon first finds Marceline, she's surrounded by a war zone: flames, destroyed cars, buildings and more horrifyingly, what seems to be empty casings of red bullets on the ground. What's worse: there's no one around for what seems to be miles. Just how long has Marceline stood there, crying her eyes out before Simon found her? Just imagine, being a child surrounded by war and death, with no one to help you.
* At the end of "The Lich", Finn and Jake are dragged into an alternate dimension and evidently lose their memories, which is scary enough, but when you think about it you remember that the Lich went through the portal too, ''exactly as he'd planned''. There's no telling what he's up to now that he has access to the multiverse, but it ''can't'' be good.
* From the same episode - it's there just for a second or so, but when Booko [[http://i.imgur.com/i98ACkP.png zooms in the multiverse]], Solar System is shown from Sun to Saturn... barring Mercury. What happened that an entire planet is no more?
* In "Still", the Ice King offers to make omelette for Finn and Jake for breakfast with the intention of putting his foot in with the eggs, so they can "become closer" by eating a part of him. Bad enough, but think back to the start of the Ice King's attempts when he leaves them in the living room to make lemonade. Jake yells after him not to touch his lemons to make the lemonade, but with the foot in the omelette, there might be something a lot worse than just Jake's lemons in the lemonade...
* Aside from all the other fridge horror in [[TearJerker "I Remember You"]], Marceline's [[DaddyIssues Daddy Issues]] take on a whole new dimension when it's confirmed that she did, indeed, live through the [[ApocalypseHow Mushroom War]] and he was [[ParentalAbandonment nowhere to be seen]], leaving her crying in an apocalyptic, probably radioactive ruin until some random stranger came along and took her in. Said stranger (the Ice King) was very kind to her, at least before the Ice Crown [[SanitySlippage drove him mad]], but considering that those situations [[RapeAsBackstory tend to]] [[MadeASlave bring out]] [[WouldHurtAChild the worst]] in some people... well, let's just say it could have gone ''very'' badly.
* In Marceline's memory of her dad eating her fries, she looks about 12, and she looks about 5 in the flashback in "I Remember You". The Ice King isn't around in the fry memory. So that means that the most loving father figure she'd ever known was only able to take care of her for a little while before he, too, left her. [[TheWoobie Poor girl.]]
* We've seen the Ice King's backstory. It's quite a tear jerker. But what about his DistaffCounterpart, the Ice Queen? What horrors did she have to go through while transforming into what she is now? Can we even assume she was there for [[spoiler: Marshal Lee like Simon was for Marceline]]? For all we know, the Ice Queen is Betty who originally put on the crown instead of Simon. Maybe one day, they'll even be reunited thanks to Prismo, or the multiverse.
* In "The Lich" [[spoiler: the Lich is able to successfully manipulate Finn into making a portal to the Multiverse because he knew Finn's heroic nature would compel him to destroy the Enchiridion. You then remember that the Lich spent most of the last two seasons in the Snail that waves at the audience. Fridge Horror sets in when you realize the Snail wasn't there to wave at us--''the Lich was observing Finn, learning how he thinks!'']]
* So, um... Where are Finn and Jake's parents? We know they have/had other family (a mother, father, and at least one brother), so how come they've only appeared in flashbacks? Are they dead? Did they just leave? Considering the many horrible fates that can befall someone in [[CrapsaccharineWorld Ooo]], and considering that Finn would have been quite young when it happened, there are some [[BackstoryHorror very, very disturbing possibilities]].
* What happened to Finn's ''biological'' parents? The only real thing we know about his origins is that he was abandoned on a mountainside, where he very likely would have starved to death, died of exposure, or been eaten, had Jake's parents not found him. So, if his parents are alive, what kind of people are they? If they aren't, what happened to them?
* The concept of the Crystal Citadel is fridge horror. Think about it: all the worst people in the multiverse, cast into one prison to do whatever they want to one another. What kind of hellscape is it in there, and how many innocent men like [[spoiler: Finn's father]] are stuck wandering it?
* So, the gem in [[ArtifactOfDoom The Ice King's Crown]] is part of the same set as the gems in the crowns of the rest of Ooo's royalty. Does this mean that they're ''all'' suffering from the same sort of mental and physical contamination Simon is?
* [[BigBrotherIsWatchingYou Why exactly does Princess Bubblegum have security cameras installed in the bedrooms of random civilians?]]
* [[spoiler: So, we knew that the Ice Crown makes the user go insane, but the fact that Finn had to use every bit of his will to remain ''slightly'' sane while wearing it makes everything worse. Just how powerful is the damn thing, if it can do ''that'' to a person's mind?!]] [[spoiler: This makes Simon Petrikov's fight against the crown Fridge Awesome. If Finn's strong, heroic willpower couldn't withstand the crown's control for even 5 minutes, think about how much willpower Simon had to have for those hundreds of years!]]
* [[spoiler: In the alternate universe, Marceline states that the [[ArtifactOfDoom Ice Crown]] froze the world out of rage at Simon Petrikov's [[HeroicSacrifice death]]]]. This, coupled with the penitence shelf incident, implies that the Crown is ''sentient''. [[ItsAllMyFault Does it know what it's done to Simon, and anyone else who might have worn it?]] Does it care?
* If it was grieving for him, then that would imply it does care for its wearer, very deeply in fact. [[AndIMustScream So it would be trapped with the knowledge that it is doomed to destroy anyone it comes into contact with, against its will - and it will be stuck that way forever, because it is very likely indestructible.]]
* If it froze the world because its wearer, Simon, died, then did it cause the Ice Age after the dinosaurs? Did it kill off the dinosaurs? [[AccidentallyCorrectWriting Did a dinosaur wear it, then die]], and the crown freaked out? Who even made it in the first place?
* [[spoiler:Jake's wish reversed the Lich's wish, but what is the Lich's fate now? Isn't he still running around the Multiverse? Also, BILLY!]]
* After watching "Finn the Human" and "Jake the Dog", it's revealed that [[spoiler:Simon was far more heroic than Finn could ever be. Finn almost instantly succumbed to the madness of the Crown, while Simon managed to keep a hold on his sanity for years, possibly even centuries.]]
* Another simpler and more subtle bit of FridgeHorror is the fact that Alt!Finn's right arm is a prosthetic replacement. And we see that his family--and town, for that matter--seems to be the personal [[RapePillageAndBurn oppression target]] of the Destiny Gang. It doesn't take much to put two and two together.
* The events of the last few episodes really highlighted just how important Finn's job is - and how brutal the consequences would be if he died or messed up, and Jake couldn't fix it. He screws up one time, ''and this almost results in the extinction of all life''. A ''fourteen-year-old boy'' (twelve at the start of the series, and implied to have been doing this much longer) is basically responsible for the safety of the ''multiverse''. Thankfully, Finn is a great kid and is maturing into his role more every episode, but that thought is...really frightening.
* The Lich was created when some unknown creature fell into a pool of nuclear waste. [[WasOnceAMan Considering that his original form is vaguely human...]]
* Choose Goose is [[spoiler:human]] in the alternate universe version of Ooo where [[spoiler:humanity never went (almost) extinct]]. Choose Goose had an ancestor that was [[spoiler:human]]. [[spoiler:Humans had kids with either animals, or the resulting mutants said animals produced thanks to both the nuclear radiation, and the newly returned magic.]]
* [[spoiler:Jake's]] wish for [[spoiler:the Lich to have wished for Finn and Jake to go back home to Ooo]] only encompasses two of the three wishes made. [[spoiler: Jake's, and the Lich's]]. [[spoiler:Finn's]] wish on the other hand was never mentioned. Time has no meaning to the god-like Prismo in his "Time Room." [[spoiler:Jake went back in time to before the Lich made his wish, as evidenced by his memories of the event, Finn has no memory of any of it.]] Every wish Prismo grants has an ironic twist, and he couldn't have simply not done it, he HAD to tell [[spoiler:Jake what wish to make.]] [[spoiler: [[ReplacementGoldfish The Finn who made the wish may very well still be in the AU created from his wish.]]]]
* In "All The Little People", Finn pairs up the tiny people randomly to see what would happen. This includes Finn (a young human) and PB and Lady, [[NoYay who are both fully grown women]], and one of whom [[BestialityIsDepraved is a rainbow unicorn.]] [[{{Squick}} Let's hope they didn't get up to anything more than kissing...]]
* We knew Magic Man was a powerful RealityWarper and probably a deity, and we've seen the consequences of that power when placed in the hands of a [[TheSociopath sociopathic]] JerkAss. However, now he apparently has the power to create ''entire universes'' at will. Universes that can be easily manipulated and contain people whose lives you can destroy if you're not careful what you do. Considering all the crap that happened with ''[[TheHero Finn]]'' in control, one only imagines what horrors someone like Magic Man might create...
* In the alternate universe, it's revealed that Marceline ages extremely slowly due to her demonic ancestry (Marceline Prime has stopped aging altogether because of [[OurVampiresAreDifferent vampirism]]). If Marceline's mother [[HumanDemonHybrid was a human]] (which she almost certainly was, since Marceline was born pre-Mushroom War, before all the weird races in Ooo were created) then that means that [[TearJerker Marceline was probably only a young child when her mother would have died of old age.]]
* The line in Marceline's song in "Marceline's Closet" about being immortal and "[[TheFogOfAges forgetting who you even are]]" becomes ''seriously'' HarsherInHindsight after we learn about [[spoiler: [[TearJerker her past with Simon Petrikov]]]]. Hell, that whole ''song'' becomes HarsherInHindsight. Most of the lines make an awful kind of sense as you learn more about exactly what has happened to her.
* If Magic Man was able to do those [[BodyHorror awful things]] [[MoralEventHorizon to his own people]], who are basically ''deities'', and he's been on Ooo for centuries, what kind of stuff might he have done to the [[{{Muggle}} far less powerful]] [[InnocentBystander denizens of Ooo]]?

* Recent revelations about [[spoiler: the Lich's past]] only get more horrific the more you think about them. [[spoiler: He is implied to have been a human who was [[NuclearMutant mutated]] by the [[AtomicHate Mushroom Bomb]] into an [[TheDreaded immensely powerful]] OmnicidalManiac.]] So he could have just been some [[InnocentBystander poor schmuck]] who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, who probably had friends and family and a whole life, and got [[FaceMonsterTurn turned into a monster]] ''completely against his will'' by something [[ParanoiaFuel he was powerless to stop]]. [[TearJerker And then he probably ended up killing those same friends and family.]] Then there's why. Even in the alternate timeline where said poor schmuck never existed, [[spoiler:the Mushroom Bomb still created an OmnicidalManiac when it mutated someone.]] This means that whoever created the Mushroom Bomb intentionally made it so that it would [[spoiler:create the Lich.]] At best, they were ''that desperate''(which makes you wonder how bad the Mushroom War was to resort to [[spoiler:the Lich]]). And what's the worst case scenario?
* [[spoiler:The Lich has shown to have the ability to BodySurf.]] Who's to say [[spoiler:the Mushroom Bomb]] didn't so much [[spoiler:create the Lich]] as [[spoiler:contain him until he was released]] when it went off? This means [[spoiler:the Lich's host was simply a perfectly normal person who was possessed by a monster]]. This would also explain why [[spoiler:there's only one Lich]], but that raises the question of [[spoiler:where he came from]] and why someone would intentionally make a weapon [[spoiler:containing him]] with intent to use it.
* Speaking of the origin of the Lich, in the Farmworld Timeline [[spoiler:Simon!]]Ice King stopped [[spoiler:the Lich Bomb.]] If he failed([[TheMultiverse and with parallel universes, there must be one where he did]]), we'd have to deal with [[spoiler:[[PhysicalGod SIMON THE ICE LICH]] ]]
* In his house, Magic Man has a humanoid skull. Well, that's not too bad, right? There are skulls '''everywhere''' in this show. But there are worms crawling around in this one...and he didn't even seem to notice the decaying rat carcass laying a little ways away...considering that, and [[TheSociopath his personality]], is it too much of a stretch to say that there could have been a body there? If so, [[AxCrazy where exactly did it come from]]?
* Apparently, [[PlotRelevantAgeUp rainicorns age really fast]], to the point where Jake's pups are biologically older than he is in just a few days. Does that mean he's going to outlive [[MayFlyDecemberRomance Lady]] and their [[RapidAging children]]?
* Finn was in his house for ''sixteen weeks'' [[ItMakesSenseinContext watching the tiny people.]] [[InferredHolocaust Who was protecting Ooo during all that time?]]
* The Lich is still out there, now in a stronger and more mobile body than before...The Land of Ooo isn't safe just yet.
* From the point of view of Lemongrab, "Mystery Dungeon" is a pretty agonizing episode. First of all, he's been separated from his best (and only) friend, who is likely to also be [[HoYay his lover]], whom he's only known for what is presumably only a few months. He probably really misses Lemongrab 2. Secondly, he's trapped in an unfamiliar place, and we all know how much he craves regular routine and hates the unexpected. Thirdly, he's surrounded by people he doesn't know, and has clearly reverted to the "stressed-out, screaming Lemongrab" that he was before he met Lemongrab 2. Fourthly, he is the ONLY person in the dungeon who is literally MADE OUT OF FOOD, and he's probably worried that the other prisoners will try to eat him. No wonder he's turned back into a screaming jerk. Poor guy...
* The Ice King's [[spoiler: transformation]] is some fairly heavy BodyHorror when you really think about it. First your body temperature starts dropping, far below what is normal for a human. Then your skin begins to turn corpse-blue. Then you begin growing unshaveable hair and ''razor-sharp fangs'', eventually looking like a monster. Although the Crown's mental effects are much worse, that in itself is fairly creepy.
* As sad as [[spoiler: Simon's]] backstory is, there's something that doesn't really sink in until you think about it for a bit. We know that the Crown caused him to drive away his fiancee...what about his other loved ones? What about his friends, parents, siblings? Did they have to watch him go mad? Did he drive them away too? Or did he remain close to them and have to watch them die in the Mushroom War, while he lived on? Or he didn't have any other friends or family...which is a [[MissingMom whole]] [[DisappearedDad new]] [[FriendlessBackground can]] of FridgeHorror...
* Lemongrab [[ItMakesSenseInContext punching out a giant rat]] and [[{{Squick}} eating the mashed up pie in its mouth]] is gross enough, but if he does that sort of thing all the time, how long is it until he gets a terrible disease?
* As we see in "Finn the Human", the Ice King's Crown is capable of causing a world-ending event if its wearer dies. In "Lady and Peebles", [[spoiler: Ricardio]] does [[BodyHorror some things]] to the Ice King that very nearly overwhelm the protection the Crown provides, and considering that thing helped [[spoiler: Simon ''survive a nuclear war'']], that's saying a ''lot''. So...if he'd gone just a ''little'' farther, and killed him once and for all, [[ApocalypseHow what would the Crown have done to the land of Ooo in its rage?]]
* The Lemongrabs love their kids. [[PapaBear A lot.]] But they seemed completely apathetic when their "young Lemonjon" [[HeroicSacrifice exploded to save his family]]. Are the Lemongrabs really that sick that they don't care when their own children die? Do they not understand death? Are they unable to grieve? Did they just accept the heroic sacrifice very quickly and are content that Lemonjon made the decision he made? Will the Lemongrabs EVER grieve the death of their son? Are they thinking about it off-screen?
* THE LEMONGRABS HAD TO EAT THEIR SON TO SURVIVE. HOLY HELL! THEY WATCHED THEIR SON EXPLODE IN FRONT OF THEM, AND THEN THEY ATE HIS BODY!!!
* According to the highly detailed "Lemongrab's brain" screenshot, Lemongrab occasionally has suicidal thoughts. Unsurprising- most people do at some point in their lives, and given Lemongrab's situation, it isn't surprising that he has contemplated ending his own life. But remember those scenes of him purposefully throwing himself out of the windows of the Candy Castle? Was he [[DrivenToSuicide seriously trying to off himself]], and did we seriously [[DudeNotFunny laugh at this idiot's pain]]?
* Does Seed-Wad have some kind of chronic illness? Will he spend the remainder of his life puking all over himself?
* [[TooDumbToLive The]] [[TheMentallyDisturbed Earls]] [[RoyallyScrewedUp Of]] [[TheCaligula Lemongrab]] have CHILDREN. That in itself is kind of scary. Sure, there's no doubt that they [[PapaBear love their kids]] and they seem to be better parents to "their boys" than [[ParentalNeglect PB was to them]], but the earls ARE still completely fucking nuts, to put it nicely, and [[DysfunctionJunction their kids don't seem much better]]. How can they raise and take care of children if they themselves are totally [[NeverMyFault unable to take responsibility for their own actions]] and are THEMSELVES [[PsychopathicManchild children in the bodies of grown adults]]? And the kids- are they just the citizens of Castle Lemongrab, or are they the future heirs after the Lemongrabs die? Will these squishy little guys end up ruling the Candy Kingdom someday?
* Finn's hat was made from a skinned evil bear, Fionna also has an awesome hat. So in Fionna's universe, there are evil [[KillerRabbit killer rabbits]] or Fionna, as a baby girl, [[TroublingUnchildlikeBehaviour skinned an innocent rabbit]].
* In "Bad Little Boy", we get to hear a bit more of the Ice King's Fionna and Cake fanfiction...but, while the last one was a more-or-less coherent story and a fairly good representation of the characters (up until [[GainaxEnding the end]], anyway), this one is just disjointed, rambling nonsense. It would seem that the mental degradation caused by [[spoiler: the Crown]] is still continuing...
* Lemonjon killed himself by reverting back to his original form of a giant pile of lemon candy. In theory, now, ANY candy person who is suicidal could just turn themselves into a pile of non-sentient candy. Princess Bubblegum has issues, and Lemongrab has been confirmed to be suicidal. If pushed a little farther to the edge, an unstable candy person could very easily kill themselves in this manner not through heroic sacrifice, but despair.
* What happens to Candy People when they become [[MadeOfExplodium scared or excitable?]] Also, other candy people seem to have no problem eating Lemonjon's remains, meaning that Finn and Jake could be unknowingly eating the bodies of candy suicides every time they eat "regular" candy.
* The Lemongrabs saw their son die right in front of them, and [[UngratefulBastard they didn't even care]].
* This may be a stretch, but doesn't it seem... grossly selfish that Lemongrab didn't bother bringing any of that pie home to his starving husband and starving babies? And the rat for that matter. A pie and a large cooked rat could have fed more than a few of his kids. Is he really stupid, or a monster who hoards food from his starving family? Would the Lemongrabs have brought the pie and the rat to life in some horrible abomination?
* "Mystery Dungeon." Ice King KO'd everyone and brought them to the mystery dungeon, which isn't too horrifying. But Lemongrab's situation kind of was. Ice King KO'd Lemongrab and brought him to the dungeon- taking him away from his starving partner and starving children. What must have Lemongrab 2 been thinking when Ice King did this? Did the Ice King kidnap Lemongrab in an isolated part of the castle, and thus, were Lemongrab 2 and all of the children worried when Lemongrab suddenly disappeared? Did Lemongrab 2 see his boyfriend getting knocked unconscious and kidnapped? Any of the babies? Lemonjon? What the hell was going on in Castle Lemongrab during "Mystery Dungeon?"
* That one lemon child whose face peeled back. Did it ever go back to normal? Was that a defense mechanism of some kind? What the hell was that? Is he still like that?
* Lemonjon was only a young child. Presumably, he was just a few months old. Even the Lemongrabs referred to him as "young Lemonjon." LEMONJON WAS JUST A KID, AND HE EXPLODED. [[TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth Why must the good die young?!]]
* Near the end of "The Great Bird Man", Xergiok, heartbroken over having driven away his friends, walks into a lake. He surfaces a minute later, riding a mermaid and saying that he found a girlfriend, but he didn't know about the mermaids when he walked in. [[DrivenToSuicide Xergiok, what exactly were you trying to do?]]
* After Xergiok removes his eyes and tells Finn and Jake to bury them, they stick them back in his beard. So, if someone tells him where his eyes are, is he going to go crazy again and destroy whatever life he's built for himself?
* If you recall, at the end of their first battle with Xergiok, Finn and Jake damaged his eyes. The next time we see him, they are detached. He says something about a wizard, but that's possibly untrue...so...did Finn and Jake damage his eyes so badly that they fell out? Did he do that to ''[[BodyHorror himself]]'', since his time in the desert obviously made him a bit crazy? Did something else in the desert do that to him?
* Xergiok's body-switching technique has some seriously nightmarish potential applications, if you think about it. For instance, that scene where he steals Jake's leg, gaining his powers? He could potentially do that to ''everyone in Ooo''.
* Perhaps it's a bit tenuous, but Prismo at one point refers to the Lich as a "ghost" - which would seem to imply that the Lich is ''not'' just a malignant entity who possesses others, but the spirit of an ''actual person'' who was somehow twisted into a creature of absolute evil and destruction. Did the Mushroom Bomb do that? Did someone do that to him ''[[MoralEventHorizon intentionally]]'', so they could use him as a weapon? [[AndIMustScream And is he still aware of what he's doing]]?
* Made worse when you think about what went down right before the bomb hit. In the Farmworld Timeline, Simon made a HeroicSacrifice to stop the bomb. Unless Betty or someone close to him became the Lich(which is horrific in itself), it's likely the reason this didn't happen in the main universe was that the Lich's former self tried to save the world from the bomb, only to fail miserably. [[TearJerker In case you thought the Lich's origin was bad enough...]]
* In "Simon and Marcy", there are all these weird, warped, vaguely humanoid creatures wandering around, leaking green goo from their eyes and mouths...oh. [[BodyHorror Guess we know what happened to the humans in that city.]]
* Another "Simon and Marcy" related horror. It's set 996 years ago, and Marceline is seven here. The Mushroom Bomb hit 1000 years ago, and the Farmworld Timeline shows Marceline considered Simon a good friend. This means that Marceline was ''three or LESS'' when she was separated from her parents. Yeah, we kind of figured that she lost them young, but this young? [[TheWoobie That's just harsh.]]
* Alt!Finn [[spoiler: put on the Ice Crown to save his family]], which was sad and horrifying enough, but then you consider that a nuclear bomb had just gone off in their immediate vicinity...[[SenselessSacrifice they probably would not have lived very long after that anyway.]]
* During the first few minutes of "Finn the Human", everyone Finn and Jake ever knew or cared about had been wiped from existence. [[CrossesTheLineTwice INCLUDING THE WOMAN WHO WAS PREGNANT WITH JAKE'S PUPPIES?!?]]
* What exactly went down outside the time-cube during those few minutes? Did everyone simply vanish? Did they just drop dead? Did time continue to pass, and some unknown sequence of events occurred in each universe that ended with the destruction of all life? [[MortonsFork Every option is horrifying.]]
* Assuming the deaths weren't instant, all of Finn and Jake's friends and loved ones died not knowing where they were or what had happened to them. Even worse, this would have happened to Princess Bubblegum immediately after having a fight with Finn, so she would have died thinking he hated her.
* "A Glitch Is A Glitch." The Ice King somehow acquired the power to BREAK REALITY. The power to do this ''exists.'' And the FRIGGING ICE KING HAS IT.
* Come to think of it, we don't know that [[spoiler: Simon]] was [[ArtifactOfDoom the Ice Crown's]] first owner...
* Due to the events of "All Your Fault," Castle Lemongrab is now within walking distance of the Candy Kingdom. As we've seen, the earls are intelligent enough to devise a plan to flawlessly conquer the Candy Kingdom. They're also batshit crazy ''and'' a horrifying combination of GeniusDitz and TooDumbToLive. If they just walked over to the Candy Kingdom, who knows what they'd be smart/stupid/crazy enough to accomplish there?!
* From the episode "Puhoy", Finn starts a family in Pillow Land while still in a relationship with FP. Sure, he was going to break up with her due to her not laughing at one of his jokes, but he never told her this at all during the episode. So essentially he cheated on his emotionally unstable and incredibly destructive girlfriend. It's a good thing he at least forgot what happened.
* Another bit of FridgeHorror from that episode: the ending leaves it ambiguous whether the Pillow Land (and Finn's life there) was actually a dream or not. If it wasn't, Finn now has a family in another world that he will never see again and cannot remember.
* Remember how [[ChildHater Lemongrab]] treated the Pup Gang, Finn, and Crunchy in "You Made Me?" How he had absolutely no idea that electrocuting, hitting, and hurting children is a disgusting thing to do? Well... Now that violent, psychotic jerkass has kids of his own. How are we supposed to believe that a misbehaving lemon child won't be sent to the Reconditioning Chamber for a time-out, or won't be [[DomesticAbuse beaten if he makes a mistake?]]
* [[WordOfGod Jesse Moynihan]], one of the writers on Adventure Time whose episodes include Too Young, You Made Me, and Mystery Dungeon, has acknowledged the fact that Lemongrab intentionally resembles an autistic person. This has been acknowledged in nearly every episode containing the character, in various ways. But perhaps the most horrifying parallel to real life that "You Made Me" contains is the existence of the Reconditioning Chamber. If we assume that the Reconditioning Chamber exists because it was built, by Princess Bubblegum, as an early attempt at "fixing" Lemongrab, then this is a prallel to shockingly modern "treatments" that are used in real-life institutions to "treat" autistic people. These "treatments" include seclusion, restraints, physical abuse, and electric shocks. This basically makes Castle Lemongrab Ooo's version of the [[BedlamHouse Judge Rotenberg Center]]. And if all of this is true, then Lemongrab's insanity and rage in "You Made Me" is much more justified than we previously thought...
* The Lich possesses Princess Bubblegum but has to wear Billy as a suit? The events of Jake the Dog seem to imply that it can only do this when someone falls in the pool where the Mushroom Bomb went off. (Perhaps the snail was on PB?) If so, this puts its attempted temptation of Finn in a new light. The Lich was trying to possess ''Finn!''
* We've all talked about how horrific the Ice Crown is, but remember that the two individuals were both kind souls and generally sane. Imagine what the crown would do to someone who was already evil and/or insane...
* "B-Mo Lost" has the implication that every time you blow a bubble, you are trapping a sentient air spirit.
* Sparkles the baby was stranded miles from home in a predator-filled forest, for ''at least'' a day. When his mother finds him, she treats the incident as if he had just crawled out of her sight for a moment. [[ParentalNeglect Guess we know how he came to be alone out there in the first place...]]
* [[spoiler: Anyone who falls in the toxic waste from the Mushroom Bomb will turn into the Lich, and will become [[TheDreaded extraordinarily powerful]]. But the only creatures that this has happened to were Alt!Jake and the original Lich, who is heavily implied to have been a normal human. So, if that's how powerful a ''non''-magical creature becomes, [[PhysicalGod what would happen if an already-powerful being fell in?]]]]
* From Prismo's dialog, other people have been in the Time Room before and attempted to make wishes. So...given the horrible fallout that resulted from Finn's wish, what happened to ''them'', and what effects did their wish have on the universe? Also, ''how did they get in there''? Are there ''more'' artifacts as powerful as the Enchiridion? And what would happen if someone like the Lich found out about them?

* In the genderbent universe, the Lady Lemongrabs are portrayed as more [[http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/adventuretimewithfinnandjake/images/1/17/Lady_Lemongrabs.png/revision/latest?cb=20130328150627 overtly romantic]] (even sexual) than their male counterparts, according to production artwork by "Sour Candy" author Kate Leth. The genderbent universe was created by the Ice King. Ice King somehow managed to track Lemongrab down in order to bring him to the Mystery Dungeon. Ice King likely saw Lemongrab and his partner doing... things. Is it possible that his somewhat kinky portrayal of the Lady Lemongrabs is due to his experience of following Lemongrab and spying on him during his intimate moments?!
* Lemongrab's vocal cords. What the fuck is wrong with this guy's throat- is he perpetually stuck in puberty? How does someone with a ''voice'' like that find the will to get up in the morning and be alive? What must it be like to be cursed [[NoIndoorVoice with]] that [[TheScream voice]]?
* Considering the fact that he's suicidal, wondering how he finds the will to get up in the morning and be alive over the relatively minor flaw of his shrill, awkward teenaged voice is [[DudeNotFunny a bit tasteless]].
* There are two groups of tiny, 5-inch tall factions in the Ooh library. How many times could they have been possibly maimed/killed by falling books?
* Just how long was the span of time between [[spoiler: Simon's discovery of the Crown]] and [[spoiler: the Mushroom War]]? He's 47 in "Simon and Marcie", and he doesn't look like he could be older than his thirties in his first tape (although it's hard to tell, due to the art style). Consider that, in a fairly normal world, he would probably need to stay isolated to avoid potentially landing himself in prison or in a lab somewhere. During that time, he had pretty much nothing to do but stew in his regrets and insanity. So, if the timescale previously established is accurate, he would have been living like that for '''decades'''.
* Lemongrab's "Put you in my oven!" line. As we've clearly seen, multiple times, he sees absolutely nothing wrong with the idea of torturing and hurting children. Is it possible that he's burned children alive before? Or, worse, baked and then eaten them as petty revenge?!
* So, the Ice King brought Lemongrab to the dungeon for the express purpose of having him bleed to death all over a monster in there. Damn, Ice King, that's cold.
* It is unlikely that any of the Lemon Children would ever breed with other Candy People, or ever discover the secret formula for creating Candy Life. So after the Lemongrabs die, and after the Lemon Children all grow up and die, ''there will be no more lemon people''. An entire subspecies of candy people will just be '''gone'''. Now THAT is a sad thought.
* Some of the Lemon Children don't have legs- and some of them have '' [[BodyHorror mutated, mutilated]] '' legs. How would they move around or walk? Look at Plop-Top's legs. They're not even really legs- they're limp, useless ribbons of flesh. And Seed-Wad doesn't even HAVE any limbs at ALL. And that Lemon Child with the two heads that was shaking behind the door and convulsing?! How the hell did he even manage to get from there to the throne room?!
* So all of the Lemon People were starving. Lemonjon was literally attached to the wall, and with no visible arms or hands, it was shown that he picked up objects with his mouth. Many of his teeth are broken or missing. It can be assumed that Lemonjon ate ''rocks'' to placate his hunger pains. Not only is that '''incredibly''' gross and horrific, but it's pretty damn sad, too.
* Two possibilities, and none of them good: 1) the Lemongrabs will [[TheSociopath never care]] that [[UngratefulBastard their son died]], or 2) [[TearJerker they will]]. Uh... Lemongrabs, [[FreakOut are you okay]]?!
* In earlier seasons, Princess Bubblegum wasn't looking for a romantic relationship but at least seemed open to the prospect of one. In "The Suitor", she's a full-on celibate hero. One wonders if [[BetterAsFriends the situation with Finn]] might have affected her more than we thought, causing her to completely close herself off from romantic prospects to avoid hurting anyone else.
* [[spoiler: Lemonjon]] is the first [[spoiler: candy]] person to be KilledOffForReal. No other [[spoiler: candy]] people have died in the show except for him. No resurrection/recomposition serum, no freakish lifesaving operation, no cyclops tears... He's dead and gone, the first [[spoiler: candy]] person who has actually ''died''. That's either fridge horror, or a Fridge TearJerker.
* If Marceline's mother did indeed die in the Mushroom War, then Marceline probably saw her die. ''When she was less than five years old''. And it wouldn't have been a pretty death, either...
* It's often been theorized that Lemongrab 2 is more sane and calm than Lemongrab, because he didn't have a traumatic start to his life like Lemongrab did. However, if "All Your Fault" is any indication, Lemongrab 2 is just as bonkers as his predecessor. Without even having the excuse of a harsh life and traumatic early life experiences, this basically means that Lemongrab 2 is even ''more'' insane than Lemongrab.
* Lemongrab hits his head pretty hard in Too Young and the beginning of You Made Me. In Too Young, he's nothing more than a nebbish, irritating hardass who still had ''some'' standards- but it wasn't until later that he was established as a sadistic psychopath. Maybe those falls out of the Candy Castle windows did more to him than the physical isolation...
* Princess Bubblegum was only a teenager when she had the Lemongrabs. The Lemongrabs seem to only be teenagers and they already have at least twenty kids. There seems to be an unpleasant pattern here...
* Lemongrab is horrifying enough on his own. Imagine how you would feel if your kid was like him. Imagine how it would feel to be Princess Bubblegum in "Too Young," "You Made Me," or "All Your Fault." How would it fucking feel to know that the person you brought into the world was as cruel, disabled, and downright horrifying as Lemongrab? Poor Princess...
* Lemongrab has probably electrocuted people and animals before. The Pup Gang, Finn, and Jake? Probably not an isolated incident. He'd been sadistic and batshit crazy for a ''long'' time before "You Made Me."
* "Another Five Short Graybles" is the first episode after [[spoiler: Lemonjon]]'s death in which the Lemongrabs appear. They seem to be doing well, until you realize that "Little Lemon-Sweets" isn't actually one of their kids- he's actually a doll. The earls are playing with a little lemon doll to cope with Lemonjon's death.
* Something that might've slipped by so many because you wouldn't look back on it, but remember in "Prisoners of Love", when the Ice King is knocked out by Finn he begins having a dream where he's seemingly endlessly flying throughout outer space, and upon his float, he runs into the Cosmic Owl. Episodes since have shown that seeing the cosmic owl in a dream is significant of a 'Croak Dream'. It's only the Ice King's second appearance in the entire series and we may have already been given an idea of how he's going to die. That's just to start! When you realize that the Ice Crown makes the Ice King immortal and magic, does that mean that the reason he's floating in space is because Earth is now gone and he's all that's left, [[AndIMustScream doomed to float through space for eternity]] in search of Fionna and Cake, or [[spoiler: Betty.]] Poor, poor [[TheWoobie Ice King...]]
* If the Lemongrabs can't even take care of ''a toy'' by themselves, how the hell are we supposed to believe that they are in ''any'' way, shape, or form fit to be fathers to ''their actual children?'' Also, they act like their terrible fights are totally normal to them. Imagine how badly it would fuck up the Lemon Children to walk in and see one of their dads eating the other dad...
* Before it was revealed that the Lemongrabs are [[spoiler: brothers]], Lemon-Gay was a very popular ship. Now there are thousands of images online of their [[spoiler: incestuous]] relationship. All of that fanart went from adorable/cute to disgusting and horrifying within the span of five seconds, when the Lemongrabs referred to each other as [[spoiler: brothers]].
* When Jake Jr. is in an episode, she's older than she was in her previous appearance. Does this mean she'll eventually die due to rapid aging since she's part Rainicorn?
* In "Another Five Short Graybles," Lemongrab 2 threw a large lemon at Cinnamon Bun. The Lemongrabs poop lemons.[[note]]WordOfGod from Patric Seery's Formspring account[[/note]] We might have just witnessed Lemongrab 2 throwing poop at someone. That is horrifyingly hilarious.
* In "Candy Streets", Finn and Jake lock up Pete Sassafras, because [[{{Long Story}} they thought]] [[{{It Makes Sense In Context}} he stole something from LSP]]. It turns out he didn't. Did Finn and Jake remember to let him out? If they didn't, he's probably out now since the banana guards misunderstood PB's demand to "let them all out." However, this begs an all-new brand of fridge horror when you wonder what all the escaped felons are doing in the Candy Kingdom.
* In ''The Party's Over, Isla de Senorita,'' Ice King sneaks into the palace, duct tapes Bubblegum's mouth, and wakes her up with a creepy "Hey baby" with the intention of abducting her (again). Even worse is that he considers PB his girlfriend, even though she (for every good reason) wants nothing to do with him. And since the "Princess Bubblegum is Really700YearsOld" theory has been proven true in ''The Vault'', she has probably been dealing with this sort of thing for '''centuries!''' This also shows great patience on P.B.'s part as she's shown to have the capability of killing or seriously harming him and doesn't. Does she know about Simon and what the crown causes? Does she think he needs to live because the crown activates the Enchiridion?
* The Island Lady doesn't seem to be able to move. Lucky for her, really, that Party God was simply neglectful rather than straight-out abusive, because she's not able to defend herself. What happens if he comes back and doesn't know they broke up? Would she be able to tell him "No." that time?
* According to the preview of "Too Old," Lemongrab is morbidly obese, Lemongrab 2 is still dead, Castle Lemongrab is a complete wreck, and Lemongrab is extremely depressed. Keep in mind that two episodes ago, his son died.
* Lemongrab 2 is still dead. Who will take care of Lemon Pegasus?!
* Frost and Fire. Dear GOD, Frost and Fire. Where to even start with this? Okay, first off, Ice King probably wasn't going to seriously harm anyone. Flame Princess, on the other hand, was shooting to kill, And she very well might have killed him if Finn wasn't there to stop her. How do you think Marceline would react if Finn told her he got Simon killed over a wet dream?
* Lemongrab 2 [[spoiler: has been being horribly abused by his older brother for God knows how long, and his kids didn't and ''couldn't'' do anything]] to help.
* The Cosmic Owl shows up in Finn's dream in Frost And Fire, and would have known that his appearance would lead to Finn inciting more dreams, at Jake's urging and statements of their propheticness. The prophecy? That he would attempt to have a prophetic dream, and that it would ruin his relationship. Which means that the Cosmic Owl ruined a relationship with a prophecy...for the sake of ruining a relationship with a prophecy.
* One wonders if Cosmic Owl was just being a jerk by setting off this series of events or if he has to obey the prophecies he sees and had to appear to Finn in the dream. Being forced to make the croak dreams or other prophesies come to fruition has got to be depressing.
* Another Cosmic Owl one, remember how he tried to keep Prismo awake and tried to play cards with him after the party? He sees death prophesies, could he have known his friend Prismo would be killed and wanted to spend as much time together as possible before it happened?
* PRINCESS BUBBLEGUM DID NOT SAVE ANY OF THE OTHER LEMON CHILDREN, OR LEMONGRAB 2.
* In "Too Young," Finn and Princess Bubblegum push Lemongrab down onto the floor and punch him. In "Too Old," Lemongrab does the same thing to [[spoiler: Lemon Hope, his youngest son]]. Just let that sink in for a while.
* Basically the entire ending of "Too Old." Lemongrab has just [[spoiler: killed his brother]]. Princess Bubblegum, Finn, and Lemonhope are all fugitives of Castle Lemongrab. Lemongrab is '''extremely''' pissed off at ''everyone'', including his children, who assisted in helping the fugitives escape. Lemongrab is now, thanks to his weight, freakishly, brutishly strong. Lemongrab is ''also'' a psychotic child abuser. Absolutely NOTHING indicates that he won't just kill all of his children (and possibly himself) off-screen.
* In "Too Old", Finn, the Lemongrabs, Princess Bubblegum, and the Lemon Children are seen eating lemons during the dinner scene. Keep in mind that, when Lemonjon died, he burst into millions of lemons. '''THEY MAY HAVE BEEN EATING LEMONJON'S CORPSE.'''
* In the extended version of "Poor Little Lemonhope," (in which some verses were not used due to time constraints,) Lemonhope sings that his pillow is '''filled with bugs''' and his bed is a can of tomatoes. Lemonhope, and probably several of the other Lemon Children, are living in '''extremely''' unsanitary, appalling conditions. What if the little ones get sick?! Their father certainly hates them enough to deprive them of vital medical attention. It's possible that several lemon children died of infections already that would have been prevented simply by having a cleaner place to live.
* A real-life example related to "Too Old." It's very, '''very''' horrifically possible that many viewers of the episode were abused as children, or are currently in abusive households. This episode would be like a slap to the face to these people.
* In "Too Young," Finn and PB punch Lemongrab and shove him to the floor. He cries alone and slowly sits up. In "Too Old," Lemongrab does the same thing to Lemonhope. The difference is that Lemonhope is immediately assisted and defended. First of all, this is Fridge Horror because Lemongrab is perpetuating the cycle of violence started by his creator and Finn. Secondly, Finn and PB defending Lemonhope only reinforces Lemongrab's anger at both them, but also to Lemonhope and himself.
* When Lemongrab smacked Lemongrab 2 on the head with a leg of mutton, he smacked Lemongrab 2 right on the colossal, gaping wound in his head. ''Ouch''.
* The implications raised by "Dungeon Train" are so disturbing that they almost serve to Deconstruct the Adventurer archetype. The "bosses" Finn fights are implied to be other Adventurers who have been there so long that their minds are warped and their bodies are so laden down with loot and armor that they're not even recognizable. By Finn's (at least) third go-around, he's barely recognizable himself under his mystical armor and weaponry. And he doesn't care. It doesn't bother him at all that the train is just one long endless repetitive Dungeon Crawl; it "makes sense" to him. In fact, it's the ''only'' thing in his life that makes sense. His relationship with Flame Princess fell apart, and his long-term crush on Princess Bubblegum was finally quashed, mainly due to his own screwups. In the previous episode, Finn expresses a desire to just go back to rescuing princesses instead of getting emotionally involved with them. He's not good at relationships. But he's really good at killing things. That's why he stayed on the train. And all those other Adventurers probably had similar stories. They're not trapped there. Jake proved that the doors aren't even locked. They stayed by choice, content to just kill monsters and collect treasure for all eternity, because that's the only thing that they were good at. The kind of people who become Adventurers are emotionally damaged people, who seek out battle and glory because they're not able to live normal lives. No wonder Billy lived alone in a cave.
* Did you notice that after Jake's children were born and "left the nest", he seems to be getting more and more depressed, to the point of being more inclined to stay on the sidelines while Finn goes adventuring? One episode where he does so (I believe it's "Dungeon Train") he even looks up and says, "I wonder how my kids are doing." In the "Box Prince", he's confined himself to playing video games, almost ignores Finn when he talks about the Box Prince needing help, and sounds completely bored, almost as if he's trying his hardest to cope. Contrast this with earlier episodes where he joked once or twice about the children growing up and not needing him anymore, and also in an episode where he sees that T.V. has chosen to stay with Lady Rainicorn and a big smile appears on his face ''"That's mah boy."'' Jake may not appear to show it all of the time, but all of these point to him suffering "Empty Nest Syndrome", which seems to be [[TearJerker worsening very gradually.]] He misses his pups, man.
* Princess Bubblegum's mental state is getting increasingly questionable at best. This is in no way meant to be demonizing towards her, but look at everything she's been through before and during the series. She's already got the enormous responsibility of ruling an entire kingdom and trying to keep all her subjects safe, calm and alive from all the weird, dangerous calamities that occur on a frequent basis, which has left her with no time for a personal life. And then there's the fact that the Ice King constantly tries to kidnap her, and even considers her his girlfriend, even though she wants absolutely nothing to do with him. On top of that is Lemongrab, who is enough of a handful himself, what with his numerous issues as well as the fact that he's really not much better than she is when it comes to meeting halfway with each other. She also displays several signs of having PTSD from being possessed and nearly killed by the Lich, and really fears the possibility of dying and leaving her kingdom under the rule of a dangerous tyrant (be it Lemongrab or Goliad). Given all these above factors, it's no shock that Bubblegum's workload must really be straining her mentally and emotionally. Hopefully, she doesn't snap in frustration.
* The fact that there are [[spoiler:lizard people trying to take over the Candy Kingdom]] leads to this. How many other kingdoms are under attack? [[spoiler:Cinnamon Bun was there even though he's part of the Fire Kingdom now. Was it an animation error or is there a lizard person disguised as CB?]] Overall, it's a lot like [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic the Changelings when you see multiple copies of the same background characters.]]
* Some of you who read the comic know there is someone in Ooo who has "slightly different but similar adventures" as Finn in Jake named Adventure Tim. He also knows characters that are allusions to the regulars like Princess Chewypaste and the Duke of Limesnatch, the Mice King and the Loch. What worries me is the possibility that there are ''two'' dangerous evil skeleton Liches and, even though the Mice King was different, he was more competent than the Ice King so who knows what kind of powers the Loch may have.
* In "Too Old" the lemon kingdom is shown to have become similar in customs to the Elizabethan era, with strict customs and cumbersome garments the lemonfolk were not shown to be wearing before. While on one hand, it seems to be good that the lemons are beginning to develop something similar to a society, it seems to be as a result of the lemons trying and somewhat failing to emulate the candy kingdom. It may even be that they are being forced to do so against their will by Lemongrab Prime. (It is likely a mixture of both given the fact that some of the lemons seem to be fairly content while others appear miserable and uncomfortable and still others just seem confused.) What really seems to suggest this is the lemon herald suspended from the ceiling, just like PB's own pinata herald, despite being disturbingly unsuited to the task.
* From the NightmareFuel page on the scene of the Lemongrabs playing with the doll: "It's also Harsher in Hindsight in that it foreshadows the fate of the REAL lemon children in "Too Old". Lemongrab 2 wanted to put their "son" to bed because he claims he was tired, showing that Lemongrab 2 is a caring father. But Lemongrab wanted the "son" to dance around for his amusement. And then in "Too Old", we see the Floor Show, and Lemongrab's treatment of the children in general compared to Lemongrab 2's." ''Holy shit, that is'' '''brilliantly terrifying'''.
* "All Your Fault." In the end, it would have actually been better if all the lemon people had starved to death. Considering what happens to all the lemon people later on, dying together while still being a loving family would have been the better option.
* The end of "Lemonhope" has [[spoiler:Lemonhope return to Castle Lemongrab after spending a thousand years WalkingTheEarth. The landscape is empty, the expanded (and technologically advanced) Candy Kingdom has been completely abandoned and Castle Lemongrab looks to be crumbling. What the hell happened to Ooo? It looks like a second Mushroom War happened and Lemonhope is the last being alive! Did he go to the castle to die in peace?]]
* In a way it's even worse than what you could think [[spoiler: the show ending and WordOfGod both state how the newly minted Pup Kingdom thrived by destroying the Candy Kingdom and taking all of its resources for itself. As Lemonhope was intended to lead the Earldom of Lemongrab, and possibly succeed Bonnibel as the leader of the whole Candy People, he could have rallied his people and saved them from Gibbon's forces. But he didn't...]]
* Lemongrab's ultimate fate is either a case of "well, it could be worse" or a FateWorseThanDeath, and we won't know which it is until future episodes. Going by his patchy appearance and Bubblegum's statements about "brains" and "bodies", both Lemongrabs' pieces were sewn together into a new one. And when you consider that both Lemongrabs were autonomous individuals with their own personalities and experiences, the ethical and psychological implications are ''horrifying''. Furthermore, the princess says [[spoiler: Lemongrab will go back to "his old lonely self", which in theory means "back to normal", but what does she know about what constitutes normal for him to begin with? Since she sees him when he was lonely as his only stable mentality, it could very well mean she expects him to return to how he was in ''Too Young'': naive and deeply unhappy. What does this mean for how his brain will actually turn out? As it stands, this can go one of three ways: the two previous Lemongrabs are effectively dead, leaving a third Lemongrab with no memories or standing identity, a Lemongrab that actively houses the consciousness of ''both'' Lemongrabs but with neither able to act individually anymore and in the most extreme case of LonelyTogether imaginable, or a Lemongrab 1 made lucid with the inclusion of his brother's biomass into his body but carrying the knowledge of everything he did when insane and also that his brother was essentially sacrificed so he could live]]. [[spoiler: All because the Princess has chosen to attempt a hard reset on his brain instead of actually getting to the bottom of why he went so far off the deep end so suddenly, saw the second Lemongrab as expendable and a liability, and apparently didn't see fit to just let Lemongrab die. She also doesn't seem to have thought through the consequences of having someone go back to being lonely when they know what it's like to not be lonely]].[[UnfortunateImplications What.]]
Potentially worse is the possibility that Bubblegum may actually be right. Previous attempts to "fix" Lemongrab failed spectacularly: giving him people to rule and/or live with just made him crazier. Maybe [[spoiler: a complete personality reboot]] is the only thing that can be done.
* In "Betty", we see Simon Petrikov temporarily restored from his long torment as the Ice King. Now remember that Simon doesn't have his own heart in his body anymore, and that Bubblegum had to make an artificial one for him. And Ricardio had made his own "body" using sinew and other biomass from Simon. How much of Simon's original body is even left, anymore? Is it really a case of NoImmortalInertia that was killing him, or all the damage that had been done to him as the Ice King that the magic of the crown was keeping in check?
* In "Goliad", Princess Bubblegum says, "I'm not gonna live forever, Finn. '''I would if I could.'''" This despite the fact that, up to this point, [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld she clearly has.]] Combine that with her obsession with creating an heir, and the fact that she seems to be undergoing some SanitySlippage recently, and you have to wonder what, exactly, is going on with her.
* Considering that the Guardian blood didn't [[spoiler:reset Martin's leg to that of an infant, the Lich's original body ''[[WouldHurtAChild was a baby.]]'' ]]
* [[spoiler:Finn's dad]] is a major source of FridgeHorror. He was banished to the Citadel, which is where the worst criminals in the multiverse are imprisoned. No other villains of the Franchise/AdventureTime universe have committed a serious enough crime before [[spoiler:the Lich kills Prismo.]] Keep in mind this includes the [[OmnicidalManiac Lich]](who's tried to kill all life, and heavily implied to have killed off most of the survivors of the Mushroom War), Magic Man(who's a RealityWarper that has screwed around with both the deity-level Martians and citizens of Ooo for over 200 years) and [[SatanicArchetype Hunson Abadeer]](who has an iron-fisted rule over the Nightosphere in a constant state of disarray and chaos). This means that whatever [[spoiler:Finn's dad]] did, [[EvilerThanThou it's worse than anything we've seen or will ever have seen the other Adventure Time bad guys accomplish up to now.]]
* When Prismo explains to Finn and Jake about the charge of the crime, he makes it sound as if it happened before with another Wishmaster. Adding the idea that there were more of Prismo's kind [[spoiler: (Prismo's actual body)]] that have been killed at least once or twice by some criminal that went to the citadel for the crime of literally killing a god.
* There's also that little bit where Finn asks Jake about the wreckage and state of the floating islands outside the Time Room as if something terrible happened to which Jake shrugs off. What did happen out there?
* The fact the Lich's mere presence [[spoiler:destroys the Citadel]]. Think about it, [[spoiler:the Lich is capable of destroying a prison created to house the worst criminals in the multiverse ''from the inside''.]] One gets the feeling the Lich wasn't sent to the Citadel before because he wasn't bad or powerful enough, but because he's so singleminded in his pursuit of destroying life that the thought of committing a cosmic level crime ''never occurred to him'' before.
* So far, everyone who royally screws over the Lich [[spoiler:dies. Billy (who threw him in amber) and Prismo (aka [[PhysicalGod a wish-granting genie]]).]] You know who also royally screwed over the Lich? [[spoiler: Jake.]] And considering how much they've [[CruelAndUnusualDeath got away]] [[HeroKiller with]], there's a good chance that if [[spoiler:the Lich returns, ''he'll kill Jake.'']]
* What's become of the Lemon children? Were they sent back to Lemon Castle alone? Are they in Candy Castle now? It's hard not to find the Princess' statement that Lemongrab is going to "go back to his old, lonely self" extremely foreboding. To say nothing of the fact that her track record with lemon people is, shall we say, ''not the best''.
* We never see what becomes of Finn's caterpillar wife Erin after he is turned back into a human. Given the circumstances, we can assume she was eaten.
* In Ghost Fly, BMO actually kills Jake for a short while. For part of the episode Jake was DEAD!
* Evergreen reveals that [[ArtifactOfDoom the Ice Crown]] was created during the K-T extinction ~65 million years ago. Which makes you wonder, if it's existed for that long, just how many people have suffered from it?
* There's a brief scene in "Evergreen" that also counts as a {{Tear Jerker}}. When Gunther and Nina are sent to look for water, Gunther ends up snapping at Nina [[CallBack just like how Evergreen snapped at Gunther moments earlier]]. Gunther was beginning to copy the horrible behavior Evergreen [[AbusiveParents directed at him]] onto others. Just how bad could that have gotten, regardless of whether or not Gunther put the crown on?
* In the first issue of the comic strip, we see the Lich-possessed snail enter the Bag of Holding, and then first a normal snail and then a reconstituted Lich leave it. Then on the next page, there's a "joke" about how a sign-painter got lost inside the Bag. The Lich reconstituted himself by '''possessing the lost sign-painter''', or his corpse.
* In "Hoots", [[spoiler:the titular Hoots (which is Gunter the Penguin dreaming) enters PB's dream with the Cosmic Owl. Hoots then makes PB's dream (which was her servants loving her and thanking her for everything she's done, while she stands on a tall tower) into a nightmare. Her servants all turn against her and instead hate her. PB, while very heartbroken at the sight of this, is pushed off by Hoot's nightmare essence(?) and falls to her death. Since the Cosmic Owl was in this dream, this means PB is going to die this way.]]
* In "Crossover", [[spoiler:the hand of Farmworld!Lich/Jake the Lich]] now exists in every dimension. We can only hope [[spoiler:the Lich can't reconstitute from that hand]], or we're in for some ''serious trouble.''
* In "Jermaine", the titular character's house contains several genies in bottles. What happened to the trapped genies when Jermaine's house burned down? Did they die in the inferno?
* In "Stakes", the Heirophant dies explosively after accidentally entering Jake in a house-shape without invitation. Marceline says he was just too old-fashioned for his own good. Earlier she implies that he could eat shades of red, and he while he rejects the idea on principle, he doesn't seem to consider it a physical impossibility. That means that blowing up because he walked into a house-like structure without permission wasn't the result of magic or actual rules, but his own internal logic causing him to basically panic to death.
* "Broke His Crown" reveals that whoever puts the crown on will live on in its software. In other words, even if the Ice King were killed [[AndIMustScream Simon still wouldn't be given the sweet release of death]], which his Farmworld counterpart would've suffered until Prismo destroyed that crown. Though at least now he has Betty's AI to keep him company...
* This may just be a coincidence, but in Marceline's reprise of "Everything Stays", there's a brief shot of what appears to be Goliad and Stormo's tower. Goliad and Stormo themselves are nowhere to be seen. The ''real'' FridgeHorror is that this appears when Marceline sings "you'll see how it's ''faded''..."
* In "Princess Monster Wife", when listing the body parts he used to make Princess Monster Wife, Ice King mentions that he took Doctor Princess' '''heart and intestines'''. Ice King '''[[NotSoHarmlessVillain murdered someone]]''' to make his perfect wife. Making this even worse is that he mentions it so casually-has he killed people before?
* In "Bonny and Neddy," we learn that the Candy Kingdom is basically powered by ''dragon poop.'' To be more precise, there's a candy dragon living in a cavern under the castle whose excretions are the source of the magical candy river that makes the Kingdom possible. The only thing that stops it from crossing over into PoweredByAForsakenChild territory is that Neddy is perfectly okay with sitting in a cave and sucking on a root for all eternity.
* "Gold Stars" reveals that [[spoiler:the Lich]] still exists in Sweet Pea, albeit with little influence on the outside world and a prisoner of his own fleshy body. Sweet Pea seems to age, meaning that he'll eventually die. Meaning it's likely that once this happens [[spoiler:the Lich will be free]], and given his host's [[CheerfulChild age]] will probably outlive Finn and Jake.
* "[[Recap/AdventureTimeS7E22Crossover Crossover]]" reveals the AlternateTimeline that Finn created by wishing [[RetGone the Lich never existed]] still exists as a parallel universe, despite the fact Jake's wish means that wish was never made. Does that mean the Lich's original wish [[OmnicidalManiac for the extinction of all life]] still exists as a parallel universe?
* In The "Visitor," Martin is seen eating a bird egg. And when Finn notices him, Martin spits out feathers. ''He was eating a live bird hatchling''.
* In "Friends Forever," it is mentioned that the Ice King moisturizes with "penguin milk", but penguins are birds, not mammals, and therefore do not produce milk. Makes you wonder what the Ice King is really rubbing on his skin... Although it might have been crop milk, which penguins do produce.
* At the end of the "Elements" miniseries Princess Bubblegum comes close to turning the entirety of Ooo into sweet and harmless candy, except Sweet Pea has been shown to be immune to the transformation. Because of this, the Lich is presumably immune as well, and who knows what havoc he could have wreaked in a land where PB succeeded.
