A multimedia franchise spawned from the 2006 ''Anime/CodeGeass'' anime series. Created by Creator/{{Sunrise}}, the story is set in an AlternateHistory where Britain had a [[UsefulNotes/TheHouseOfTudor Henry IX instead of James I]], kept America, but lost the British Isles to UsefulNotes/NapoleonBonaparte. They fled to the American colonies and founded the Holy Britannian Empire, which expands to control over a third of the world, particularly after they invent HumongousMecha. Oh, and there are the titular psychic powers involved. The main story focuses on Lelouch vi Britannia, an exiled prince of the empire who becomes the leader of a formidable rebel army fighting against the empire - and his own father, the emperor.

Along with several canon spinoffs, ''Code Geass'' has produced an incredible amount of AllThereInTheManual content, which includes audio dramas, {{Picture Drama}}s and DVD-exclusive short stories that help flesh out the show's universe or expand on its characters. It has also garnered five AlternateContinuity manga and multiple games to date.

** ''Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2'' (2008): The sequel to ''Lelouch of the Rebellion'', taking place some time after the events of ''Akito the Exiled''. The story focuses on Lelouch's attempt to finish his rebellion against the Holy Britannian Empire, [[spoiler:setting up a chain of events that ultimately resulted with him usurping his father's position as emperor and orchestrating his ZeroApprovalGambit]]. Also spanned 25 episodes.
* In addition to the main series, there are also three compilation films (2017-2018) that both condense and retold the story as well as add new scenes and make alterations to the story, making it officially an AU to the original anime: ''Initiation'', ''Transgression'' and ''Glorification''.

** ''Anime/CodeGeassLelouchOfTheResurrection'' (February 2019): A film continuation of the re-released compilation film trilogy, [[spoiler:detailing the aftermath and consequences of the Zero Requiem as well as C.C.'s quest to resurrect Lelouch, who takes up the mantle of Zero and leads the Black Knights (now backed by the Principality of Britannia) for the final time to rescue Nunnally from Zilkhstan's captivity.]]
* ''Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture'' (May - August 2024): Continuing on from the ''Lelouch of the Re;surrection'' timeline, the story follows two mercenary brothers, Ash and Rozé, as they attempt to rescue Empress Sakuya from the clutches of the Neo Brittanian Empire. 25* ''Manga/CodeGeassRenyaOfDarkness'' (2010-2013), a prequel manga with a script by Goro Taniguchi and art by Tomomasa Takuma. It follows the story of the eponymous Renya, who encounters C.C. and [[IdenticalStranger a man bearing an incredible]] [[{{Expy}} resemblance to Lelouch]] in Edo-period ([[AlternateHistory or at least its equivalent]]) Japan.
* ''Anime/CodeGeassAkitoTheExiled'' (2012-2016): A sidestory OriginalVideoAnimation {{Interquel}} written and directed by [[Anime/TheVisionOfEscaflowne Kazuki Akane]]. It takes place between the first and second seasons, focusing on a group of Japanese pilots in the army of the Europia (this world's third great power, unified by Napoleon).[[/index]]

!!Non-Canonical Works:
[[index]]
* ''Anime/CodeGeassNunnallyInWonderland'' (2012): A 30 minute StorybookEpisode {{OVA}} that features the characters as the cast of ''Literature/AliceInWonderland''. Also acts as a BizarroEpisode of sorts for the entire series because of all the silliness going around providing a contrast to the darker atmosphere that is generally prevalent in the original anime.
* ''Manga/CodeGeassLelouchOfTheRebellion'' (2006-2010): The most faithful adaptation of the anime, even though it removes the HumongousMecha and most of the military action in favor of more comedy and {{shojo}} elements.
* ''Manga/SuzakuOfTheCounterattack'' (2006-2008): Skews more {{Shonen}} and focuses on Suzaku rather than Lelouch; it turns the Lancelot into a powersuit and Suzaku into a Franchise/KamenRider-esque superhero.
* ''Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Re;'': Manga adaptation described as a "definitive edition."
* ''Manga/CodeGeassNightmareOfNunnally'' (2007-2009): A vast departure from the normal ''Code Geass''; it focuses on Lelouch's DelicateAndSickly sister Nunnally, who becomes a LittleMissBadass in an ''[[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion Evangelion]]''-esque mecha and battles similarly-powered girls. (Oh, and Lelouch returns later on to channel [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Master Asia]].)
* ''Manga/CodeGeassTalesOfAnAlternateShogunate''/''Strange Tales of the Bakamatsu'' (2008): A UniversalAdaptorCast story that places the characters in the Bakamatsu era of Japanese history; Lelouch becomes the head of UsefulNotes/TheShinsengumi while secretly opposing the Meiji reforms brought on by Britannia (here standing in for Admiral Perry). More light-hearted than other adaptations/spin-offs, with a semi-[[SuperDeformed chibified]] art style and less melodramatic story elements (Zero and Black Knights, here renamed the Black Restoration Order, basically turn into Myth/RobinHood and his Merry Men). Also plays faster and looser with realism; a pizza delivery service exists, even though the manga takes place at a time well before pizza became popularized in America, let alone the rest of the world.
* ''Manga/LelouchThePrivateTutor'' (2017): A HighSchoolAU manga which chronicles Lelouch's life after the mysterious C.C. is sent over and he ends up as her tutor to avoid problems from his parents. SliceOfLife comedy and drama is the result, with hints of a greater plot unfolding; who is C.C.?
* ''Musical Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebelion'' (2023): a new musical adaptation that will star Ryotaro Akazawa as Suzaku and Koji Kominami as Lelouch, as "double main characters". This is the third stage adaptation of the series, and the first in 10 years.

!!Games
* ''VisualNovel/CodeGeassLostColors'' (2008): A non-canon spin off Visual Novel with the main character called Rai who has lost his memories and has ended up at Ashford Academy. Now Rai must decide how he goes about regaining his memories.
* ''Code Geass: Maelstrom of Libra'': A mobile game starring a young girl named Laila who escapes from a research facility in the desert.
* ''Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion'' (2007): A non-canon RPG on the Nintendo DS. It roughly follows the plot of the original anime, with changes across the storyline. It introduces the rui Britannia twins, Pollux and Castor, as the main antagonists.
* ''VideoGame/CodeGeassGenesicReCode'' (Spring 2021), a mobile phone game that is billed a "true sequel" to ''Lelouch of the Rebellion'' that will tie-up [[SequelHook certain loose ends]] from ''Akito the Exiled'' and contain a brand new story featuring characters from all previous canon works. It will star three new protagonists: Al, Gigi and Archive.
* ''VideoGame/CodeGeassLelouchOfTheRebellionLostStories'' (Spring 2022 for Japan, September 2023 for Global), another mobile game. It seems to follow the first season of Code Geass, but with the inclusion of a new character (a mixed-race Ashford student of player-chosen gender), their guardian, and a mysterious female knight.
