A HighSchool movie, made by Creator/{{Disney}}, about, well, [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Prom]]. Specifically, seven high school seniors (and three sophomores) and the drama and hilarity they go through during prom season.

It was released in April 2011 (prom season), and was given the "Family-Approved" seal by The Dove Foundation. At that time, New Hope Church hosted their own event inspired by the film, entitled "A Night to Shine" (Tim Tebow was also the sponsor).

!!''Prom'' provides examples of:

* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: One of them does, anyway.
* AnguishedDeclarationOfLove: Lucas does this to [[spoiler:keep Simone from going to Prom, upon insistence from Lloyd. This eventually causes Simone to leave Prom to meet him at a concert.]]
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: Happens to Nova and Jesse, when Jesse reveals the reason about his delinquent behavior.
* BookEnds: Not of the typical variety but the character Rachel is only present at the beginning and end of the film. She appears getting a picture of a dress from Nova in the beginning and then has romantic interaction with Lloyd at the end.
%% * BigManOnCampus: Tyler.
* BrickJoke: While enjoying some milkshakes, Jesse attempts to fight some customers who are causing some trouble for his mother (the waitress) only to be stopped by Nova. [[spoiler:After a fight with Nova's dad, Jesse attacks them after leaving school.]] Sorta like the song "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship, [[spoiler:except for when Nova sees Jesse attempting to fight the customers, and sings that song to him (in a more soft rock-like acoustic version).]]
* ButtMonkey: Lloyd all of his attempts to ask girls to prom end in EpicFail
* CloudCuckoolander: Rolo seemed like this, until it turned out..
* TheCuckoolanderWasRight: He was telling the truth.
* DanceOfRomance: Obviously happens during the prom scene itself. [[spoiler:Jesse and Nova do this, just when a depressed Nova was about to leave prom. While not during prom, Lucas and Simone share a slow dance when the latter manages to meet him after a secret concert. Mei and Justin also share this treatment, as well.]]
* ADayInTheLimelight: Lucas and Corey in the online prologue "Corey and Lucas For The Win". For reasons unknown, the events of the miniseries do not get mentioned during the events of the actual movie.
* DeadpanSnarker: Jesse. Lloyd too.
-->"Prom. It's like the Olympics of high school. You wait four years, three people have a good time, and everybody else gets to live on with shattered dreams."
* DisappearedDad: Jesse's father is gone. His mom says that if he knew what was worth fighting for, he'd be there.
* DistractedByTheSexy: Nova finds herself staring at Jesse when he strips to his tank top and he quickly notices.
* DownerEnding: Tyler gets this treatment, but consider his rather {{Jerkass}} mannerisms throughout the movie (especially with Jordan, Simone and to an small extent Lucas) and it makes sense. Could count as a BittersweetEnding, since he becomes prom king to Jordan's queen.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: Jesse and Nova get together in the ending, and so do Lucas and Simone. Mei and Justin still end up going to prom together and Lloyd manages to meet a girl during prom.
* FriendVersusLover: A slight example with Lucas between Corey (friend) and Simone (potential love interest). [[spoiler:[[EarnYourHappyEnding He manages to keep his friendship with Corey and hook up with Simone by the end of the movie, though]].]]
* GirlfriendInCanada: Rolo. No one (especially Ali) believes him. [[spoiler:Subverted when she actually shows up at Prom.]]
%% * HighSchool: Naturally.
%% * HighSchoolDance
* HighSchoolSweethearts: Mei and Justin, who knew each other since the eighth grade.
%% * JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Jesse, naturally.
* KarmaHoudini: The issue of Jordan and Tyler accidentally burning down the Prom decorations is never given any focus after Nova discovers it the next morning. Not only is this never given any mention during the duration is the movie, but they end up becoming prom king and queen. To think that the students and faculty could have thought of trying to find out who would have caused the fire in the first place...
* LampshadeHanging: After Rachel tells Lloyd that it's sweet he brought his sister to prom, he asks "Where have you been?"... Which is actually a very good question, since she hasn't been on screen since the start of the film.
* LastMinuteHookup: [[spoiler:Nova with Jesse as well as Lucas with Simone.]]
* LogoJoke: The logo becomes a scrapbook picture at the end. Humorously, the bottom of the logo (the Walt Disney byline) is made from [[MythologyGag the original logo's design.]]
* MaybeEverAfter: The couples who got the hookup listed above, although time would tell if a sequel would be made to follow up on them ([[RelationshipUpgrade especially the sophomores]]).
* MeaningfulEcho: When Lucas is asked by Tyler to go to his barbeque, Corey states that Lucas asking Simone to go with him is like "Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock". [[spoiler:Near the end of the movie, Simone leaves prom to be with Lucas. When the two see her after their concert ends, Corey mentions "Hendrix. Woodstock." before Lucas and Simone proceed to slow dance in the parking lot.]] Also counts as {{Book Ends}}, considering that [[DontExplainTheJoke these two occur during the first and last major interactions between both Simone and Lucas.]] Another example occurs during Nova and Jesse's break-in of a rival school. When the two {{Almost Kiss}}, Nova states that "you were about to kiss me." [[spoiler:Near the end, Nova ends up saying the same thing to him, although they end up [[BigDamnKiss kissing for real.]]]]
* MeaningfulName: Guess what Rolo is seen eating is one scene
* MistakenForCheating: How we are introduced to Tyler and Jordan.
* NoNameGiven: A lot of the characters are never properly introduced, and a lot of the cast we never even learn their name.
* NoodleIncident: Tyler and Simone's former romance. It's never really outright explained how it turned sour, although it's implied that his problems with women, so to speak, caused the relationship to go awry. Simone also describes him as the "one who wasn't available".
* OfficialCouple: Nova and Jesse, Mei and Justin, Lucas and Simone, Tyler and Jordan [[spoiler:(later subverted)]].
* PreppyName: It doesn't much preppier than Nova Prescott
* RaceForYourLove: Lloyd convinces Lucas to do so for Simone. Luckily for him, it works.
* RomanceEnsues: Between Nova and Jesse while working on the prom decors, and is somewhat sealed when the two [[spoiler:break into another high school to check their prom out. Later subverted, when Nova's father orders Jesse to not bring her prom, only to be [[DoubleSubversion subverted yet again]] near the end of the movie.]]
* RomanticComedy
* RunawayBride: A variant. [[spoiler:Simone leaves Tyler at Prom to be with Lucas.]]
* SeriousBusiness: Prom. It's super serious.
* SheCleansUpNicely: Nova, Mei, Ali and Simone for prom, obviously.
* StockTrailerMusic: Music/KatyPerry's "Firework". It also plays during the prom scene.
* UnderdressedForTheOccasion: During the end credit slideshow, Lucas was able to get into prom and get some pictures with Simone. This, of course, happens with the former still in casual attire and the latter all made up in her prom dress.
* WhoNamesTheirKidDude: Nova? Really? That's not a nickname or anything?
