->'''Freddy:''' [[WhamLine Time to start all over again.]]\
'''Maggie:''' But this isn't Springwood!\
'''Freddy:''' Hehehe... [[OmnicidalManiac Every town – has an Elm Street!]] Haaahahaha!

''Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare'' is the sixth film and [[SeriesFauxnale supposed finale]] in the ''Franchise/ANightmareOnElmStreet'' series, released in 1991.

In "ten years from now", Freddy has managed to kill every child in Springwood, sans one whom he has left alive to aid in his plan to break out from there, so that he can continue killing wherever he chooses to.

----
!!This film provides examples of:

* AbusiveParents: Literally every main character has abusive parents. Carlos had a mother whose abuse caused him to become deaf, Spencer has a father who psychologically abuses him, Tracy had a father who sexually abused her, and Maggie's biological father...well, you know. Even Freddy is shown to have a foster father who physically abuses him during his teen years.
* AlienBlood: Freddy bleeds green when he slices his fingers off.
* AlliterativeName: [[spoiler:Maggie's birth name is revealed to be this; '''K'''atherine '''K'''rueger.]]
* ArcWords: ''"I Won't Tell."''
* BewareOfHitchhikingGhosts: It uses the "apparition in front of the car" version. A little girl appears on the road as the characters are driving to Springwood, telling them "Go back!". Only one character can see her, and he jerks the wheel, nearly crashing the vehicle. Interestingly, the vision is not a ghost, but actually a manifestation of another character when she was younger. The character in question was actually the one driving, but couldn't see her younger self, presumably because she was fully awake.
* BatterUp: When Doc comes face to face with Freddy, he attacks him with a baseball bat.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: Originally, Maggie told the audience when to put on their 3D glasses by looking into the camera and saying "Now!", but that version of the scene got cut for home video.
* BuryYourDisabled: [[spoiler:The deaf kid Carlos becomes Freddy's first dream victim.]]
* TheCameo: Creator/JohnnyDepp, Roseanne Barr, Creator/TomArnold and Music/AliceCooper all have appearances.
* CanonDiscontinuity: Like the second film, its place in the series' continuity is somewhat nebulous. When ''Film/FreddyVsJason'' rolled around it showed Springwood as mostly normal and having dealt with Freddy by "forgetting" about him, a scenario that seems to flow on from the fifth film more than it does this one. For this reason, some fans treat ''Freddy Vs. Jason'' as an {{Interquel}} set before ''Freddy's Dead''. However, flashbacks of both films can be seen in the intro of ''Freddy Vs. Jason''.
* CatapultNightmare: The opening NightmareSequence ends with the character startling in his bed.
* ChekhovsGun: The confiscated weapons in the youth shelter.
* ChildlessDystopia: Springwood has been turned into one.
* ChuteSabotage: Freddy Krueger performs an on-the-spot and very unsubtle example at the mid-point of the movie. As his victim descends helplessly from a parachute, he casually and nonchalantly begins cutting the straps to the parachute with his bladed glove. To add insult to injury, after the victim plummets, Freddy [[OffscreenTeleportation appears directly below on the ground]], pushing a bed of spikes where he'll land.
* ComicbookAdaptation: By Innovation Publishing.
* CreatorCameo: Producer Robert Shaye appears as the guy selling bus tickets.
* CrowbarCombatant: A crowbar is among the weapons used against Freddy in the climax.
* CurbstompBattle: [[spoiler:The final battle between Maggie and Freddy is pretty much one-sided with Maggie completely dominating Freddy]]
* DarkerAndEdgier: The victims Freddy goes after have significantly-harsher past histories (child abuse, incestuous rape and [[spoiler: being the daughter of a serial killer]]) than those from previous films. Despite this (and the tagline on the film poster, seen above), this film is also [[LighterAndSofter by far the most comedic in the series, and the death scenes are pretty light on gore]].
* DeathByIrony: In the FinalBattle, [[spoiler: Maggie stabs Freddy with the clawed glove, his signature weapon. It doesn't actually kill him, but it's still ironic.]]
* DecoyProtagonist: [[spoiler:John Doe. The movie leads the audience to believe that he's the protagonist and the child of Freddy that he's looking for, before Freddy himself tells him that he's not his son before killing him halfway through the movie, before ultimately Maggie is revealed to be Freddy's daughter]].
* DealWithTheDevil: Freddy got his powers when, at the moment of his death, he made a deal with the dream demons.
* DesperateObjectCatch: Afflicted with hyper-sensitive hearing in his nightmare, Carlos sees Freddy preparing to drop a pin from a high balcony, and catches it with a frantic DivingSave. [[spoiler: Too bad Freddy had a whole ''handfull'' of additional pins...]]
* TheDogBitesBack: After years of suffering from his foster father's abuse, Freddy murdered him using a switchblade.
* DreamIntro: The opening scene turns out to be a NightmareSequence.
* DyingTown: Springwood has become this, Freddy having killed everyone under the age of eighteen. The remaining adults are left insane, and presumably unable to leave town due to Freddy's influence.
* EarAche: One so bad that it makes its recipient's [[YourHeadASplode head explode]].
* EasyAmnesia: John Doe.
* {{Epigraph}}: The film opens with two quotes; one from Creator/FriedrichNietzsche ("Do you know the terror of he who falls asleep? To the toes he is very terrified, because the ground gives the way under him, and the dream begins...") and one from Freddy ("[[Film/ANightmareOnElmStreet3DreamWarriors Welcome to prime time, bitch]].")
* EvilHasABadSenseOfHumor: Freddy is like this, and defiant to the very end. In the final scene, when [[spoiler: Maggie takes his glove, he suggests that she "let daddy show you how to use it." She doesn't take him up on it.]]
* EvilPlan: Freddy's plan is to trick Maggie to free him from Springwood so that he start all over again. And again. And again....
* EyeScream: While not shown in the film, the comic adaptation shows that Freddy killed his adoptive father by stabbing him in the eye with the straight razor.
* FinalGirl: Maggie Burroughs/[[spoiler:Katherine Krueger ends up being last character left alive to confront Freddy]].
* {{Fingore}}: Freddy counts the killing attempts on him by slicing off his fingers to show off to Doc.
* FlippingTheBird: When Freddy slices off his fingers one by one, he gives Doc the middle finger, [[LampshadeHanging noting that it's his favorite]].
* FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: Freddy tries to justify his behavior by explaining his [[DarkAndTroubledPast traumatic life]]-he was born to nun who had been raped while working at a mental hospital, his adoptive father was an abusive alcoholic, and he was bullied at school. Maggie doesn't buy a word of it.
* GallowsHumor: Freddy is known to use BlackHumor so much, it may come as a surprise [[FridgeBrilliance (maybe)]] that he can take it as much as he can dish it out. In the FinalBattle, he remarks - after being hurt - that he "forgot what it was like to be human" and after [[spoiler: Maggie takes his glove, he suggests that she "let daddy show you how to use it." (She declines.)]]
* GambitRoulette: Freddy's plan relies on the fact that John Doe manages to [[spoiler:find his daughter and bring her to him]]. Considering that the plan has John becoming amnesiac, it's surprising that it even works.
* GreaterScopeVillain: [[spoiler:Freddy's power comes from the [[EldritchAbomination Dream Demons]], whom he made a deal with.]]
* GroinAttack: Freddy sustains a kick to the balls courtesy of Tracy.
* HumanityEnsues: When Freddy is dragged into the real world, he becomes human again. He turns back into his standard form pretty quickly though, although he's still human even then.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: John falls from the sky, onto a bed of spikes placed by Freddy.
* ImpossiblyCompactFolding: While the teens are cruising around the abandoned Springwood, Carlos unfolds a road map to see where they are. It just keeps unfolding and unfolding until it fills up the whole van, with a part of the map saying "You're fucked!". This is then revealed to be a nightmare.
* ImprobableAimingSkills: Averted; out of all the stuff Maggie throws at Freddy, only one knife and one shuriken actually connect.
* ItSeemedLikeAGoodIdeaAtTheTime: In spite of Tracy's attempts to tell him she knows a better way to get to the dream world to help Spencer, John persists in provoking her to knock him out, to the point where he slaps her. [[BullyingADragon Bad idea]].
* JourneyToTheCenterOfTheMind: Near the end, Maggie travels into Freddy's mind, and sees his memories.
* KilledOffForReal: Freddy Krueger. [[SpoilerTitle This is not a spoiler]]. Or at least he was until further installments were made. While ''Film/WesCravensNewNightmare'' is set outside the films' universe entirely and ''Film/ANightmareOnElmStreet2010'' is an outright reboot, ''Film/FreddyVsJason'' reveals that Freddy can never be killed and at best, exiled into an ambiguous hell dimension when he "dies" and trapped there so long as no one remembers him.
* LighterAndSofter: While ''Film/ANightmareOnElmStreet5TheDreamChild'' at least tried to go back to a more serious horror roots of the first few Elm Street movies, this movie is completely campy and silly and almost feels like a [[SelfParody parody of the Elm Street movies]].
* LukeIAmYourFather: The film reveals that [[spoiler:Freddy had a daughter named Katherine, who has by now repressed her memories of him and started going by "Maggie."]]
* ManBitesMan: Maggie bites Freddy's nose during their fight at the end.
* MenAreTheExpendableGender: [[spoiler:With the exception of the death of Freddy's wife in a flashback, all of the victims in this film are men.]]
* MirrorScare: Tracy is splashing water on her face in a bathroom, but when she looks up, she sees in the mirror that the room has changed into her old childhood home -- where her abusive father is waiting.
* MockingSingSong: Young Freddy Kruger is teased by his fellow classmates with "Son of a hundred maniacs!" when he takes a mouse out of the classroom's cage and smashes it with a hammer.
* MoodWhiplash: This is the most comedic movie in the series but has some of the series' darkest moments. The movie that has Freddy riding a broomstick and playing a videogame also features flashbacks to his life before becoming famous as a child murderer and has him strangling his wife in front of their child after she found out, as well as the reveal that his master plan is to move from town to town and repeat what he's done to Springwood.
* NailsOnABlackboard: Invoked by Freddy; he replaces Carlos's hearing aid with one that makes all sounds ultra-loud, then gets out a chalkboard and repeatedly scratches it with his knives until Carlos's head explodes.
* OmnicidalManiac: Freddy Krueger has ultimately destroyed Springwood completely by killing all its children and reducing their remaining parents to broken messes. He announces his plan to Maggie to continue doing it everywhere else – as Freddy says, "Every town has an Elm Street".
* OnlyOneName: With the exception of Maggie Burroughs, [[spoiler: Freddy's long-lost daughter whose real name is Katherine Krueger]], none of the other featured protagonists in the film have a surname. Doc [[EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep doesn't even get the luxury of a first name]].
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: The Dream Demons. They are ancient and serpentine in appearance, and hold lordship over all nightmares. They find the most evil human imaginable, who they will grant the power to [[RealityWarper turn dreams into reality]]. They chose Freddy Krueger, and made him immortal too.
* PreMortemOneLiner: Appropriately enough, [[spoiler:Maggie]] gets one right before [[spoiler:she finishes off Freddy]]: "Happy [[spoiler:Father's Day]]."
* ProductPlacement: A rather memorably odd one for Nintendo's Power Glove.
* RetGone: Freddy's newest victims are hit with this, with their bodies vanishing from reality along with almost any memories or evidence of their existance.
%%* SceneryPorn
* SelfMadeOrphan: [[spoiler:Maggie kills Freddy, her father. He was exceptionally evil though.]]
* SelfMutilationDemonstration: Freddy cuts off his fingers ([[Film/ANightmareOnElmStreet1984 Again!]]) while counting the ways people have tried and failed to put him down for good. He regrows them instantaneously.
* SeriesFauxnale: ''Film/FreddyVsJason'' eventually followed this one. Footage from this movie is used in the prologue covering Freddy's backstory. New Line's official position is that ''Freddy vs. Jason'' follows this one as well.
* ShoutOut: John Doe's opening nightmare references ''Film/TheWizardOfOz'' with his house falling in the sky and Freddy appearing as the Wicked Witch.
-->'''Freddy:''' I'll get you, my pretty! And your little soul, too!"
* SpoilerTitle: Yes, Freddy does die for real. It is not however [[SeriesFauxnale the]] ''[[SeriesFauxnale final]]'' [[SeriesFauxnale Nightmare]].
* StartOfDarkness: The barrage of flashbacks at the end serve this purpose, showing how Freddy Krueger became a murderer.
* TheStoner: Spencer.
* TakeThatKiss: [[spoiler:Maggie]] does this after [[spoiler:stuffing a pipe bomb in Freddy's gut at the end.]]
* TemptingFate: During one of John Does dreams.
-->'''John Doe''': Nothing is gonna make me get off this bed.
-->''Bed lights on fire.''
* TitleDrop: Maggie declares that "Freddy's dead" when he is blown up.
* TrophyRoom: Shown briefly in Freddy's flashbacks. It was filled with, among other things, variant gloves, pictures of victims, Springwood Slasher-related newspaper clippings and toys presumably belonging to victims.
* TwoferTokenMinority: Carlos, who is both Hispanic and deaf. Interestingly, his actor was originally supposed to play John Doe, but he felt Carlos spoke to him better.
* UnwittingPawn: John Doe in Freddy's plan to [[spoiler:bring his daughter to him]].
* VasquezAlwaysDies: Subverted. Of all of the teenagers, only [[spoiler: tough girl Tracy]] survives.
* VerbThis: Said by Freddy after getting beaten up by Tracy.
-->'''Freddy:''' "Kung fu this, bitch."
* VillainDecay: Freddy Kruger in this movie is basically a complete comical goofball and a major far cry from the once scary threatening villain he used to be.
* VoiceChangeling: Freddy imitates Tracy's voice while retaining his normal form to mess with the Doc.
* WhamLine:
-->'''John Doe''': I know why you let me go.
-->'''Freddy''': Oh. Do you think [[spoiler:I'm your daddy]]? Mm-mm! Wrong!
-->'''John Doe''': But you let me live!
-->'''Freddy''': Only long enough for you to [[spoiler:bring me back ''my daughter'']]!
** Another when he reveals to said daughter his OmnicidalManiac ambitions in the page quote.
* YouKilledMyFather: [[spoiler:Maggie calls Freddy out on the fact that he killed his wife, her mother.]]
* YouNeedToGetLaid: Spencer's response to Tracy's bitchiness.
* YourHeadASplode: [[spoiler:Carlos's death.]]
