The Author's OC, Éléonore Morin or Eri for short, goes along with the Yu Gang and Kaiba to Hyrule. Being the only one who's played the Zelda games and is a bit of a superfan, she's their primary source of information. That being said, while Eri does play a large part in the story, she is no Mary Sue and is generally punished quite heavily for her assumptions in knowledge and is an absolute delight to read. Knowledge of the Legend of Zelda series isn't required to read this story; all Zelda information is completely explained, and it mostly focuses on Yugi and his friends (and Kaiba). Knowledge of both series certainly enhances it! I really can't recommend it enough! It captures the canon relationships between everyone quite well and develops their characters in interesting ways as they struggle through Hyrule. Also, while Atem is not present, you can almost FEEL the hole he's left behind in the group, even so long after his departure. |
