17* ''Comments'': This author writes some of the best fics that this troper had ever seen in general, her stories are engaging and emotional and her writing style is simple yet eloquent, and it leaves you hanging on to every line and very much excited about what comes next without the need for cliffhangers. Her characterization is on point, and the player character's name and physical description is left to the reader in a way that would allow them to imagine their own character without it feeling distant or inconsistent.

22* ''Comments'': This author writes some of the best fanfics in my opinion and is one of my favorite authors. She's written an entire chronology of fanfics pertaining to Dragon Age: Origins timeline including one-shots, fluff, and continuations with original plots and characters. All characters feel spot-on and completely humanized; you believe the struggles they go through, making them all the more endearing. All of her stories are written predominantly about the relationship and adventures of Aedan Cousland and Leliana, while also including Alistair as Aedan's best friend and brother warden. Many of the other companions are featured in her stories and make appearances.

37* ''Status'': Complete
38* ''Synopsis'': An All Origins are True story, where seven new Wardens will have to work together with the canon companions to defeat the Archdemon.
39* ''comments'': A scenario where all six warden origins occur (with a mage of each race for seven total). Each character is given a great amount of personality and individuality. The author does extremely well portraying how they interact with each other so differently, making each character feel as realistic as possible.
40** Seconded. Made an account wholly to second this. This fanfiction is a wonderland of characterization. It follows the game's plot closely enough to allow for extraneous detail to be left out, but the real wonder of the story is the characters. Each Warden is beautifully fleshed-out, with realistic flaws, strengths, and quirks related to their backstories. Each character's evolution is realistic and deeply touching, and the ending remains true to each of their characters, avoiding the dreaded "just make everything perfect" ending a lot of fanfics go for. The [=NPCs=] are also all fleshed out realistically through their interactions with the Wardens, and it's just seriously amazing, guys.
41** Note that this fic is ''long''. It clocks in just short of 400,000 words.
42** There are two direct sequels: ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9975336/1/Letters-to-Amaranthine Letters to Amaranthine]]'' is a short humorous collection of notes between the characters about how they reacted to Awakening and the DLC adventures, while ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10052179/1/An-Apostate-s-Abominable-Guide-to-Kirkwall An Apostate's Abominable Guide to Kirkwall]],'' (Dead; last updated September 2016) follows the elf Wardens as they get involved with the plot of Dragon Age 2.
43** Can't give it an endorsement. One of the Wardens feels like an utterly infuriating Sue. Bad attitude? Check. Super powerful? Check. Faces almost no repercussions for being a jerk? Check. [[spoiler: Blatantly becoming evil and nearly killing half the cast, yet is forgiven for it because he feels bad and "learned his lesson?"]] Check.

60* ''Synopsis'': Grand Inquisitor, you accuse me of committing an atrocity, unrivalled in depravity since the Magi stormed the Golden City! I say that I stole the secrets of blood magic from the demons of the fade; I scaled the Tower of Ishal to grasp victory against the darkspawn at Ostagar; I slew the Archdemon with my magic to quell the blight itself. At this farce of a trial, what more of a defence do I need, but my deeds themselves?
61* ''Comments'': I found this incredibly good. It reads very much like [[Literature/TheNameOfTheWind Name of the Wind]]. A frame narrative is employed, with the story is told by the Mage Warden Amell during his trial - apparently, he killed the Archdemon, but only with costly blood magic. This is his tale, and what gripped me was the epicness of the story, and the sheer awesome demonstrated by the Warden. I also found myself liking the fact that the Warden is obviously quite cunning and ruthless - which to me makes for more interesting reading.

There are infinite possibilities, infinite realities, for all Wardens, all peoples face death in different ways. It is finished. The time has come. How will you face your inevitable end, Grey Warden?
67* ''Comments'': A fanfic which examines how Grey Wardens from all possible origins face the time of their Calling. Only a few, thus far, have gone for a "traditional" Calling. Most others have expired in a myriad of different ways. There is a lot of shipping here, but mainly just Warden/Love Interest. Nothing crack-y. A good, albeit dark and depressing, read.

72* ''Status'': Dormant
73* ''Synopsis'': Bhelen had all bases covered, but didn't consider that his older brother would get himself framed on purpose just to fake the death of a certain someone. AU Fanfiction including all Origins as characters. Different outcome for House Aeducan and Orzammar.
74* ''Comments'': After being forced to time and again fall victim to Bhelen's plot, it's refreshing to see a story where things aren't so set in stone. Despite being perfectly in character, Trian isn't dismissed as just a useless, arrogant fool while Bhelen isn't deemed unrepentantly evil, which is a nice change. Things have changed enough - and believably - that while the DN still leaves to join the Wardens, it isn't clear just how things are going to play out, especially once the other origins get involved.
75** Eh. Main character is a major Mary Sue and the author has an axe to grind with regard to several characters in a way that comes off as slightly rabid.

80* ''Synopsis'': She hesitated-"Mostly, I couldn't kill you, knowing that I cheated. At the Landsmeet. Our duel." There was a heavy silence. Loghain said slowly, "You do realize that I am holding a naked sword at this very moment?" M for naughty language.
81* ''Comments'': Initially a one-shot that's been expanded upon, this story has Loghain as the OnlySaneMan, with a hilariously unstable Cousland Warden who actually acts out gaming mechanics like [[KleptomaniacHero stopping to loot everything]] and randomly giving presents to bribe people into liking them while the other companions have long since accepted her behavior and even encourage it.
82** Seconded.
83*** The beginning was absolutely amazing, but it feels like it's slowing towards the middle. Hopefully it will pick up again when Arsinoe gets into ''Awakening'' territory.
84** Once things get into ''Awakening'' and later, it does pick up a fair amount, and it's interesting - and hilariously cathartic - to see how the Warden short-circuits a good 70% of the plot of ''Dragon Age II'' and virtually all of ''Inquisition'' simply by being around at the right time.

89* ''Synopsis'': Aunn Aeducan, practical if sheltered exile, knows only two things for certain: if she returns to Orzammar she'll probably end up actually committing fratricide at some point and it's about time to show the world what a dwarven princess can really do...
90* ''Comments'': It's not easy to find an Aeducan story and even harder to find one that's not paired up with Alistair (which is nice but sometimes seeing something different is good). This story doesn't have any romance aside from a past relationship with Gorim but it is a nice retelling of the story with a Warden who never quite manages to forget where she came from and doesn't really fit the bill of a conventional hero.

The narrator seems to be acting as a mentor to the group in a realistic manner, and the writing is done in a first-person journal style. 117* ''Comments'': A short yet very interesting story centered around a criminally underrated character who doesn't get nearly as much love in Dragon Age fan fiction. 149* Comments: This is a story that takes its time with what we recognize as the stations of canon for DA. It gets you invested in the why of the characters instead of just expecting you to like them. It expands on the backstory for each origin in logical ways that felt new or well done to me. 156** Zute has been smart enough to edit out the parts that are less interesting and keep to a fast-moving and engaging plot.

163* ''Comments'': A "What-If" story dealing with what could happen if Alistair has to marry an Orlesian princess who is not what she seems to be. Be warned that this has a very strong [[AlternateUniverse AU]] feel [[spoiler: (Said princess turns out to be a unique mage that has the power to heal Blight-tainted lands)]], and that this is a story that deals very heavily with politics; specifically, between Chantry and Crown, over the issue of mages and the lyrium trade. Without revealing any more spoilers, the political intrigues and conflicts are the main focus on the story, and unless you pay attention you will lose the interweaving threads that make up the plot. Everything in this story has a place and purpose, and each chapter is like watching pieces of a large, intricate puzzle falling into place. A riveting read.
164** YMMV note: Said Orlesian princess does have quite a few unfortunate shades of OP-ness to her (which unfortunately taints Alistair by association), but if one is able to gloss over those bits, then the other characters and plotlines make the story as a whole worth reading at least once.

170* ''Comments'': [[WordofGod Word of God]] states that while Loghain was planning on confronting Cailan at some point and taking action to support his position, he didn't actually intend to leave Cailan until the Beacon was lit too late. Since the Warden managed to light it, everything changes. This is really well-written and you can really feel Bronwyn's noble upbringing shining through and giving her a nice aura of competence.
171** This is an interesting fic that works in virtually all origins and characters. While it could perhaps use some editing to tighten up the story (which fanfiction couldn't?), it's still a wonderful adventure.
172*** Seconded. A great fic for those who enjoyed the depth of the game world, especially the feudal drama of Ferelden. The game itself claimed inspiration from ''Literature/ASongofIceandFire'', and this story calls to the fore a snake pit of conflicting interests in that vein.
173*** Quite well written, but the titular victory at the beginning of the story takes away a great deal of the plot's urgency, without replacing it with another more immediate threat. Also, the abundance of party members, including original [=NPCs=] and those introduced in the expansions, mean that attention on them is increasingly divided, bogging down the story. Much as I hate to say it, this might be a case where [[LetsSplitUpGang splitting the party]] might help alleviate the overcrowding and keep things moving.
174*** While the writing was good and serviceable, the characters suffered quite heavily from {{Flanderization}}. Personality traits of certain [=NPCs=] tended to absorb their entire character, making them seem shallow. Cailan is the obvious example; he's portrayed as a childish fool with heroic notions. While those aspects were certainly observable in the game, there were deeper facets of his personality - take his intriguing with the Orlesian Empress, for instance.
175*** That intrigue ''is'' a major plot element in the story - although credit for it is primarily pushed onto Arl Eamon.

All possible origins are featured, though to varying extents (for instance, while Cousland is a primary POV, he isn't the Warden; Amell is). Later chapters tie in lore and plot points established in later games as well. Very much like ''Literature/ASongOfIceAndFire'', multiple viewpoints with varying degrees of UnreliableNarrator are employed, including [[VillainProtagonist Rendon Howe]] himself.

188* ''Comments'': Origins retelling, but with a parallel flashback storyline. The flashback storyline itself is hit or miss, but it does a good job of portraying a more naive, less competent Aedan in his first forays into adventuring. Where the fic really shines and focuses on is fleshing out the character of Aedan during the Origins timeline as he struggles with the stress and decisions he has to make. The Warden/Morrigan relationship is portrayed well, taken at a realistic pace and written with good chemistry between the two characters. While the fic eventually takes on a darker tone, it balances it out with some levity of well-done party banter. Updates are sporadic though- sometimes taking between a few days or a few months.

Recommended because it's (as a parody should be) very funny and include a lot of TakeThat against some of the bugging things in the game (for example, Carver does a very good one at Anders's 'possession' in chapter 6). Despite their wishes, however, fate has too much in store for either of them to wallow in obscurity.
204* ''Comments'': A very well written story of a quarter of a million words, the story takes a turn from the beginning when rather than Bethany or Carver dying against the Ogre, the third sibling - who would normally be the player character - does instead. Because of this the characters interact differently with the party such as Aveline having less good-natured feelings towards Carver as he deserted while her countrymen died and he had to MercyKill her husband when he caught the blight-sickness. That being said, both Carver and Bethany become less sympathetic as the story goes on and at some point you kind of wish that one of them was the one who died like in canon.

216** ''Karl's Alphabet'': Complete
217** ''Anders' Alphabet'': Dormant
218* ''Synopsis'': A collection of stories of varied length, one per letter of the alphabet, tying together the story of Karl and Anders' friendship and its significance and their lives in the Circle.
219* ''Pairings'': Male slash, Anders/Karl as friends with benefits
220* ''Comments'': These stories are basically extensive character studies told through fics. Karl's character is explored and built upon in a way that's believable and makes him a compelling character. Anders' story shows the effects of being confined and what life under Chantry rule is like, especially regarding how the Chant is interpreted. This fic shows in horrific detail how it can affect someone's mind. It's not all angst though - his F and G comes to mind as sensual and almost joyful. Karl's Alphabet is great, especially the later parts, but the writer has grown and Anders' is arguably the better one between them.
221* ''Tags'': There's plenty of angst in both but Anders' Alphabet is a Dark Fic hinting at the possibility of him as a victim of sexual abuse. What's interesting is that it's never shown, only hinted at through his (pretty subtle actually) thoughts and reactions to things around him. It's a very realistic portrayal of depression/mental illness and aftermath of several kinds of abuse. For the love of all that's holy, read the tags and warnings for this one.
222** Really not kidding about the warnings there. It's disturbingly realistic as an aftermath story. I'd say Anders is portrayed as bipolar too.
223** The focus on Anders's mental state in the sequel aside, while interesting... where the first fic really shines is the portrayal of Karl as a character in his own right, independent of Anders and his whims. Playing through the Tranquility quest will never be the same after reading this one.
224*** Sadly, ''Karl's Alphabet'' has been deleted.

245* ''Comments'': Far and beyond the absolute best Dragon Age II 'novelization' I've ever read. Words honestly don't do it justice, but I will try. The characterization is spot-on and focuses mostly on the character interactions and growth. Hawke has a rivalry with Aveline, something not often explored in the fanfics I've come across previously. I cannot possibly recommend it enough. Of note, this is the 2nd in a series, with the previous work being a novelization of Dragon Age: Origins, but I have admittedly not read it.

All I need to do is find Hawke and follow them around until it's time to get Mythal free. A good plan...until everything went wrong.''"
251* ''Comments'': Excellent take on the inserted character genre, with high attention to detail and characters that act in their own interest rather than being props for the story. Plays with the canon in a highly entertaining way, introduces new plot threads courtesy of the main character's own actions, and shows a more realistic approach to being dropped into a crapsack world complete with the brutality of the city it is set in.

When the Divine calls for a conclave, Anders plans to be there to make sure things go smoothly for the mages. He disguises himself and sneaks in under the name “Trevelyan” and... well, he can't say he saw this coming.
261* ''Comments'': One of the funnier Inquisitor!Anders fics I've read. Anders is a nice blend of his ''Awakening'' characterization and what he was like at the end of ''Dragon Age II''. Overall it's pretty silly, with Anders trying really hard to make sure that no one recognizes him as the person who destroyed Kirkwall's Chantry. The author has said that it may eventually become Anders/Varric.
262** LSE: The idea of the organisation that's meant to save the word being built with lies upon lies is super amusing, but they become revealed in a satisfactory way. It's also nice seeing Anders get a measure of peace from the end of ''DAII'' and start fixing the world he helped break.

Kathryn sometimes comes out as overpowered and too much of a smartass (especially at the beginning), but writing gets better as the story progresses. Warden’s comments are really funny and her whole character is enjoyably and positively insane. Author likes to make fun of some elements present in Origins, like Warden’s tendency to loot all corpses he/she comes across or bandits’ SuicidalOverconfidence.

356* ''Comments'': This is one of the best-written Loghains I've ever seen. The story starts off six years before the Blight starts so as of yet any of Loghain's in-game actions haven't occurred. He manages to come off as likable while completely in character and Elissa is very likable as well. Circumstances forced them into marriage but they're making it work.
357** The story has some merit, but I had a hard time getting into it. The characters felt fairly flat to me, and the rationale of Loghain marrying Elissa to stop her from carrying on with Cailan made me think less of virtually every character in the story. (Other than possibly the long-suffering Anora.)
358*** I can see why that would make you think less of Cailan, but why would it make you think less of the others? Elissa worried that rejecting Cailan would hurt her family and Loghain wanted to protect his daughter from getting cheated on. Loghain is a noble with no heir since Anora became Queen and anyone else Elissa could marry would be beneath her. It is a very good political marriage that they happened to enter into because of the issues with Cailan.

It was great to see a fanfic address some of the nags from the game that are generally glossed over (plain weird timelines, the inevitable Mary Sue-ism due to every incident seeming to land on the Warden's doorstep, etc.) The writing gets better after the first few chapters and stays strong throughout the rest. Stays mostly true to ''VideoGame/DragonAgeOrigins''' tongue-in-cheek dialogue, with additional lines that mesh seamlessly with in-game dialogue and events, and occasional LampshadeHanging on the game's mechanics. [[EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep The Warden]], while lacking any defining physical characteristics besides good-looks and athleticism (despite [[http://fav.me/d2t3pcf a drawing by the author]]), or even a [[PlayingWithATrope real name]], has a quirky and very unforgettable personality, and the author skillfully and sensitively conveys the emotional vulnerability of an actual person going through the events in the Human Noble origin, [[spoiler:and she handles Zevran's growing feelings with a careful delicacy that keeps him both believable and in character.]] The build-up of UnresolvedSexualTension is very well-paced, just enough to keep readers hanging on the edge of their seats, and the intimate interludes (when they happen) are tenderly passionate and sexily intense at the same time. 388* ''Comments'': A brilliantly-written gripping story full of twists and turns. Notable for the author's excellent take on Zev (and success at managing the other characters), the exploration of his backstory and psyche and his character arc. The other characters, including the OCs, are similarly fleshed-out, well-rounded and interesting. The dialogue is excellently written. In spite of the complicated premise, the story reaches a very satisfying conclusion. A must-read.
389** While the fic is indeed well-written, with the main plot handled smoothly and the OC characterizations fairly dynamic (or at least inoffensive), this reader found Zev's storyline and characterization to basically just be rehashing his in-game romance, and subsequently kind of dull. The vagueness mentioned above really worked in this author's favor, making the Warden just generic enough to be enjoyable for any reader without ever becoming boring. The OC is difficult to explain without spoilers, but suffice it to say that the characterization felt very much in the spirit of canon.

414* ''Comments'': Purple-haired Airam and Zevran have a slow burn romance that is simultaneously frustrating in how long it takes and satisfying for the richness of their relationship. Clever dialogue and nuanced emotional exploration make this story exceptional along with thought provoking changes to cannon. In short, this writer is brilliant.

420* Synopsis: This is an incredibly bizarre fic. You're fooling yourself if you think it's anything other than an excuse for whole bunch of characters to have sex, but it also contains a Warden who is irrevocably evil and yet still a compelling and interesting character, as well as some interesting relationships. Be warned: Very, ''very'' NSFW and contains some ... excruciatingly descriptive language. Worth reading, though, I think.
421** Iaculus: The writing is technically competent, and if you want to read a story about a villain with a [[GagPenis Coke-bottle-sized dick]] smugging his way across Ferelden, go right ahead. Not exactly my cup of tea, though.

The lead character seems to go through a sort of coming-of-age though it’s definitely in the background through most of it. The romance is largely front and center from the beginning, and it can make for slow going when coupled with the game’s plot. Altogether enjoyable read.

436** Agreed. Very subtle evolution of emotions, and the quiet "everyday" tone of voice used just makes the relationship between Alistair and Anora grow in a very real way. Anora's character is very well-developed, showing the insecurity behind her queenly mask. A very good read.

444* ''Comments'': M for some language and definitely sex. Pretty lengthy at 98k words (and change), covering the entire timeline of the game and all its events. It's a very well-written exploration about Cousland and Alistair adjusting not only to their roles as Warders but also their growing feels for each other.
445** While the story ''is'' epically long and has an interesting take on the fade and its effect on the main characters, the story is hardly as well-written as most of the others listed here. The author uses an odd form of present-tense that feels jarring and more like a general overview of the game's events rather than a story. The relationship between the two leads feels rushed (compared to the in-game relationship that develops over the course of several months rather than just a few days) with love scenes and descriptions bordering on PurpleProse. There are some incidents of uncharacteristic behavior from some of the other players as well, particularly Zevran, and the writer's take on the Grey Warden herself gives us a protagonist who comes off as a bit FauxActionGirl, in my opinion. I would not recommend.

452* ''Comments'': The idea of using more than one or even all six origins has been done before but I've never seen it done better than here. Thus far, only six chapters are out but they delve deep into the backstory of each very unique and well-fleshed-out character - the chapters ending moments before the origins start - who are very much products of their environments and you can already see why the Wardens-to-be would choose to pursue their love interest of choice.

465* ''Synopsis'': Trust is a delicate flower that needs to get nurtured and time to grow. Even more so love. A tale of two disparate Wardens forced together, of finding a way to overcome the distrust, and their own painful past in the time of the Blight.
466* ''Comments'': Stories focusing on Dalish wardens are hard to come by, even more so those where the author actually pays close attention to all the cultural elements that define the character of the wandering Elvenhan. This tale is one where the writer gathered what was an underwhelming amount of Dalish lore from a game written primarily for human warden [=PCs=], down to the language of Arlathan, and fleshed out a whole culture by showing the struggles of a female Dalish elven warden called Lenya. Starting off as reluctant, even bitter, she does prove herself to be an ultimately well-meaning heroine capable of accepting that not all Shemlen are rotten and deserving of her contempt. Of course, Alistair is half responsible for this shift in perception, and his portrayal is at once unique and faithful to his game persona.
467** Seconded. While Lenya is all but a sympathetic character in the beginning (She's bigoted, impatient and believes her ways are always right - making her a bit of a, well, ''...bitch'') ...but that is not much of a surprise due to [[EnslavedElves the history]] humans and elves in Dragon Age share and how she was raised to [[KillAllHumans hate humans all her life.]] What makes the story interesting is to see her growing, learning and changing her prior stuck, bigoted view as the story progresses. Not [[MoreThanMeetsTheEye everything is as black and white as it seems.]] While following the Blight timeline, the author takes enough liberties to keep it interesting. Aside [[SugarAndIcePersonality Lenya]], all characters are given enough room and space for [[CharacterDevelopment believable development.]] Especially the [[WillTheyOrWontThey blooming romance]] between a Dalish and a human is well paced with its slow development and a realistic appraisal of the relationship within the [[OppositesAttract humans/elf racial dynamic.]] Nevertheless, this might not be a story for everyone, given the [[DarkAndTroubledPast Dalish Warden's]] initial demeanor, which makes it hard to appreciate her at first.
468** For all the references to how Dalish are an isolated, insular community that rarely interacts with outsiders, Lenya doesn't come of as "Dalish who distrusts shems because she had not actually interacted much with them", and more like a "She's a Dalish who hates shems because they're shems". Granted, there are times where Merilsell does make Lenya somewhat more sympathetic, but these are few and far between. The times where her hate makes her lose any ability to see reason are too often and hence she loses the credibility as a character. The truly bizarre aspect in this story is how the characters seem to call that part of her charm; particularly Alistair. This aspect doesn't make any sense, especially because you LOSE approval with Alistair in-game whenever you are being rude to him, even in a romance. The pacing of this story is too slow and editorial cuts would have helped with that problem, which the author unfortunately completely missed to make.
469*** The person above didn't seem to have played the same game I did. Dalish DO distrust/hate shems because they ARE shems and mostly because they were enslaved by humans for a long time. And the Dalish are particularly obvious about this. Not only in the Dalish camp in DA:O, but in Dragon Age 2 too. It's important to remember that the "domestic" elves are still being forcibly and brutally segregated, and slavery still exists in areas of Thedas. So they have a very IMMEDIATE sense of injustice. It takes a lot for a person to overcome the prejudice that is taught by parents and grandparents who suffered on the hands of others. That being said, above FF portraits such a Dalish character, who might not be your typical [[IncorruptiblePurePureness "happy rainbow"-Warden]] (which is overdone anyway) in the beginning, but one who is gradually growing into her role and new life over the course of this story. The story is long and yet not finished, but it is a gratifying, interesting read in terms of character development and life of a (reluctant) Dalish Warden.

506* ''Comments'': This fic shapes the romance between the female Warden and Alistair beautifully--the Warden is a fish out of water when she's taken from the tower, and Crisium paints this believably while developing the romance between the two. I particularly love her Alistair--I feel like she's plucked him right out of the game, and his lines and the situations in the story are hilarious (the first time Alistair gets drunk is a time to remember!). Meanwhile, the relationships between party members are also shown, in character and satisfyingly real. Crisium has a knack for italics and does not use them sparingly, and it manages to add to the story rather than take away from it--stress is added to Alistair's thoughts and it is easy to believe that the things he says and thinks could be from the game.
507** TL;DR: A believable, satisfying, and fluffy take on the f!Amell/Alistair romance.

Particularly when he falls quite spectacularly in love.
513* Review: A retelling of the game from Alistair's POV with one major alternation: He falls in love with a Male Cousland. He ran from the Templars. He ran from relationships. So what did he care? He was never going to rest anyway.
523* ''Comments'': It starts with Anders being recruited in ''Awakening'', and continues on to ''Dragon Age II''. The Warden-Commander is a blood mage who seems to deal with every magic the Chantry would protest, but isn't evil (although he didn't get along with every Origins companion, and has quite a few strained relationships as a result of his actions). It has some of the best characterization of Anders and Justice I've ever seen, while going in depth with plenty of other characters. 611* ''Comments'': One of the funniest stories I have seen for F!Hawke and Anders, as well as one that addresses the fact that in canon, Anders never told F!Hawke that he and Karl had a relationship beforehand. Honestly deals with their relationship in a somewhat realistic way, if by realistic you meant two idiots who can't figure out how to talk to one another. The Isabela/Bethany sidestory is heartbreaking as well.

Anders is a Tevinter magister (not a very good one) and Hawke is a slave (not a very good one, either) and the two don't get along very well (except for when they really, really do). ''Every mage, at some point or another, dreamed of one day becoming a magister in Tevinter. And if they told you differently, chances were they were lying.''
618* ''Comments'': Aside from the pairing, this is one of the best world-building fics for ''Dragon Age'' that I have seen. Tevinter seems like an actual place, rather than the evil Blood Magic Theocracy that it's presented as in the games.

624* ''Synopsis'': "Garrett isn't the only Hawke in Kirkwall." Carver asks Fenris to practice with him, and from there blossoms a beautiful friendship in which they hit each other with sticks, drink far too much wine, and talk about sex. Everything after that is a bonus. Cheese is eaten, baths are had, and between all the angst someone has sex with an elf. This is a story about envy and frustration, and how much Carver needs to get laid.
625* ''Comments'': The result of a kink meme prompt, requesting Carver being awesome, this fic is beautifully written and characterised. Carver tends to be dismissed as a character, but here is the perfect mixture of sweet and tactless, while remaining in character, and the Carver/Fenris pairing works wonderfully. The fic is complete, with an increasingly AU sequel, plus three more sequels as part of an ongoing series.

631* ''Synopsis'': All Aodhan Hawke wants is peace, all Fenris wants is a sense of belonging... which, it turns out, are not so different ends. A series of connected shorts, many of which will be kmeme fills.
632* ''Comments'': As stated in the synopsis, this "fic" is mostly a set of kmeme fills that are connected together by the pairing of Aodhan Hawke and Fenris. Unusual in that all the chapters can be read as stand-alone shorts, but manage to form a coherent whole when read together. The author's good at writing very sexy, sensual, explicit sex (one of them being a well-done scene where Fenris, he of the deep, growling voice, seduces Hawke with his words alone), but it's the more emotional chapters that are the gems in this collection. There is this sense of a deep affection and longing between Fenris and Hawke, even when their relationship goes through the "separation" stage, and the dynamics between the two men, each stubborn and strong-willed in their own way, are very real and believable.

He is a somniari. Altus. A Dreamer. And if, sometimes, his dreams show him a strange, lanky idiot of a mage from foreign parts--who is as good at escaping as he is at getting caught--then Fenris can still keep that to himself. 666* ''Synopsis'': A retelling of a F!Hawke and Anders romance from the point of view of Justice/Vengeance building off of his characterization in Awakening and how his views on life, love, and justice change through out the events of Dragon Age 2 as him and Anders steadily begin to loose it while simultaneously falling for Hawke.
667* ''Pairings'': Anders/Hawke/Justice OT3
668* ''Commments'': A very well done fic that manages to tackle the difficult task of examining Anders and Justice in Dragon Age 2, as challenging as it can be try decipher the characters and where exactly one begins and the other ends. It sticks pretty close to canon, granted a lot of stuff with Anders and Justice is open to interpretation because of how vague the game is most of the time. It's a beautiful fic, very bleak and heart wrenching yet ultimately uplifting, with a pretty hopeful ending. The only problems with it is that it can fall victim to PurpleProse and get very philsophical, navel ponder-y if that's not one's cup of tea. Not too bad, but it can ward off a reader if it's not to their liking. Sebastian is also sort of villainized, though since this is told largely through Justice(and Anders' to a certain extent point) part of this can be chalked up to jealous, hateful bias. Still Sebastian doesn't come out of it looking very good, almost to the point of RonTheDeathEater. Also the story can be sort of confusing at some points considering it's a companion piece to another fic, and the author doesn't really bother to clearly details events that carry over. That said, it's still an excellent fic and well worth the read for anyone who likes the pairing or enjoys the character Justice and would like to understand his view of things during Dragon Age 2. Flaws aside, I solidly recommend it.

Cassandra has never met anyone as simultaneously alluring and infuriating as Morrigan. Will a trip to ancient ruins help all of them to work out their problems, or just make things even more complicated?
701* ''Comments'': ''Oh mama''. I came for the latter pairing but stayed for the former to quite a degree. Wonderfully written, very sexy and well paced despite it being fairly lengthy. I was surprised on how well the two writers were able to make the pairing of Cassandra and Morrigan work as well as they did and their chemistry was highly engaging. Though I do have some personal hang ups (namely wrangling events from ''Inquisition'' to fit into the narrative. It's not done badly at all; I just prefer fic that carves out its own narrative rather than retreading events that we've seen before and I kind of wish we got another scene similar to what happens between Chapters 4 to 6), it's a very solid piece of fic that's definitely worth a read.

Both of the men in this relationship have different views of it, and their relationship and ideas about it change as the story moves forward. But a Dalish First who casually wanders out the confines of her mind and has awoken something ancient which has an unholy fascination with her - could only be at the centre of such events. Rating subject to change. Contains swearing and gore so far.
715* ''Comments'': The story is very well-written, with the characters very much retaining their personality and voice (which some authors can fail miserably to do). Calathea is actually an interesting inquisitor, and it's interesting to see how a Dalish Mage would react to being named an influential figure in a different religion. At time of recommendation, the 8th chapter had just been posted, and the romance with Solas is looking to be a slow burning rivalmance akin to Dragon Age II. I feel as if these comments aren't doing this fic justice. Give it a read.
716* Dissenting opinion here: First, the fic has been on hold since January 2015. Secondly, there are some great ideas here about Dalish/Keeper magic that are more in line with what is seen in Awakening and VideoGame/DragonAgeII. However there is a deal which does not align with what has been seen in prior games with regards to the Dalish (Elgar'nan is treated as more of a singular god rather than one of many, for example). Thirdly, Solas is rather openly hostile at start to the point of being OOC without seeming reason; even at his least civil, he was nowhere near this hostile without given cause. (Compare his interaction with Vivienne and the Iron Bull with the mages who summoned his friend.) Finally the writing is very weak and in desperate need of a good edit for flow and minor errors. ~Flib

807* Comments: The passages with Merrill's point of view just have to be read to be believed. And her conversations with Tali crank both of their {{Adorkable}}ness up to eleven. Be careful, though. It suffers from a bad case of RougeAnglesOfSatin at times.

813* ''Status'': Active (previously dormant)
814* ''Synopsis'': Shepard knows that destroying the Reapers will kill her. Except she's never been good at dying. The explosion of dark energy from the Crucible thrusts Shepard into a totally different universe. Post [=ME3=] ending, DAII Act 2 beginning. (FF.net description)
815* ''Comments'': A great crossover with the ''Franchise/MassEffect'' series. Shepard just survived the Reaper War, only to be thrust into the chaos of Kirkwall. Now she has to deal with a world that hates magic and a surly group of oxmen that have taken notice of her. It's a thoroughly engaging read that brings to life the realities of the Dragon Age series without losing any of the appeals.

826* Synopsis: "She had been so stupid. She knew what was out there. Knew with an absolute certainty of what was out there. - She, and a few girls took some old tarot cards, a case of coolers to the abandoned house on the hill. It looked like something straight out of a horror movie. Lily thought that it was such a cliche, that none of the real monsters called this place their lair. She was wrong. So very, very wrong."
827** More specifically, a [[TabletopGame/HunterTheVigil hunter]] from the the {{TabletopGame/New World Of Darkness}} is stolen away by the [[JerkassGods True Fae]] and remade into an almost-unique three-kithed [[TabletopGame/ChangelingTheLost changeling]], only to escape into Thedas with the quiet help of [[spoiler:Solas]]. Warning for spoilers for Trespasser and the [[spoiler:true nature of the Evanuris]] in the very first chapter.
828* Pairing(s): Eventually Solas/OC, with the OC taking the place of Lavellan.
829* Tags: FusionFic, Psychological Horror, Surreal Horror.
830* Comments: Has not progressed past the main character's Durance, but already shows incredible promise and understanding of the lore of both ''Changeling'' and ''Dragon Age'', blending them seamlessly. The main character's pretty likable too.

836* Synopsis: After being discharged from the Alliance, Commander Helen Trevelyan joined the Andromeda Initiative, thinking to leave her personal tragedies and a psycho ex-boyfriend behind her. She expected to sleep for 600 years, and wake up in a med bay. Instead, she crash-landed on the side of a snow-covered mountain, ten-thousand years later. She is alone, confused, and dying from eezo radiation. And the only sign of civilization is an old church in the distance.
837* Pairing(s): Solas/F!Trevelyan, Cullen/F!Trevelyan.
838* Comments: A great story of how an ME-origin!Trevelyan comes to Thedas and trying to integrate herself there while looking for a way to go home. The plot progresses slowly but definitely not boring because the author knows how to explore the characters' interactions and how the culture clashes can happen. Helen Trevelan, with her modern view and personality, is likeable and a force to be reckoned with as she deals with everything around her. The story focuses on other characters' development through their relationships with Helen and her foreign view of their world, like, in particular, Solas and Cullen. It also explores more mundane issues that a modern person could have when they're in a pooer, more primitive society such as [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking inadequate diet and poor sanitary leading to health problems and malnutrition, language barriers, and unfamiliar daily activities like using quill and ink]].
839** Furthermore, the current plot is hinting that there'll be more exploration about the connection between Thedas and ME, namely [[spoiler: the elves being enhanced humans or that the fauna and flora of Thedas are originated from Earth]].
