[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/9269880/1/Fairy-Without-Wings Fairy Without Wings]] begins with the story of Kallen Kozuki, a 17 year old mage who has been kicked out of two guilds, and witnessed the fall of a third. She's come to Fiore's town of Loreon to meet a mage consultant that might help her with her inability to control her power, which leads her to have the opportunity to join the mage guild known as Knightmare Frame.\
\
Huh. [[Manga/FairyTail Sounds familiar]].

Created by draconichero21, ''Fairy Without Wings'' is a crossover between ''Anime/CodeGeass'' and ''Manga/FairyTail''. It takes the established characters from the ''Anime/CodeGeass'' canon and translates them into the ''Manga/FairyTail'' universe with their personalities mostly intact. Lelouch is still a MagnificentBastard. Suzaku is still good [[LawfulStupid to a fault at times]], and Cornelia will still [[KnightTemplarBigBrother tear off the head]] of anyone who dares harm her sister [[MoralityPet Euphemia]]. However, [[RecycledInSpace now they are all mages]]. In a guild known as Knightmare Frame, they are an ally guild to the famous - maybe even ''in''famous - guild Fairy Tail, but their journey is not one of rainbows, sunshine and butterflies.
WordOfGod is that ''Fairy Without Wings'' was created to show points in the mage world of Earthland that ''should'' come with the territory of such a world, [[SlidingScaleOfIdealismVsCynicism but that Mashima flat out ignores or only barely hints at existing]]. These are things that [[PayEvilUntoEvil Lelouch]] would normally be seen doing on a regular basis.

It does a surprisingly good job mixing the characters of both universes and, much like ''Manga/FairyTail'' itself, while the story starts with Kallen's introduction to her new guild in a parallel to Lucy, the story clearly evolves into arc based storytelling much like [[Manga/FairyTail the series proper]].

The [[FanFic/TalesOfBleachUnrealSociety third]] [[Fanfic/SoulChess fanfic]] created by draconichero to get its own tropes page and probably the best written out of the three. While ''Fanfic/SoulChess'' has recently received some CreatorBacklash, while still being all in all being considered a good read by most, [[WordOfGod draconichero is more satisfied with this fic thus far than the majority of]] ''Fanfic/SoulChess''.\

-----
[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder:Tropes A to M]]
* ActionMom: The series is full of them in contrast to canon including: Marianne, Selina, Bisca, Kasumi, [[spoiler:Nessa]], Sabine (as much of a monster as she is), Alice, Alysha, [[spoiler:Emma]], and [[spoiler:Atarella]]. To say nothing then even of [[spoiler:the future characters]] or [[spoiler: the dragon mothers]].
* ActorAllusion:
** When trying to remember Hibiki's name, Orochi guesses it to be [[Manga/FullMetalAlchemist Alphonse]].
** When [[Creator/YuriLowenthal Suzaku]] was born, Selina said that one of her friends wanted to name him [[Manga/{{Naruto}} Sasuke]].
* AdaptationalBadass: Considering the cast of Anime/CodeGeass is from a much more grounded series where no SuperpowerLottery really existed, pretty much all of them are this. Special mention goes to Jiang Lihua aka Tianzi, who is a Moe blob in canon, but has power enough to stand on par with dragon slayers and incapacitate monsters the size of the Domus Flau.
** Jenny has graduated from simple MsFanservice to a genuine asskicker.
** Princess Hisui is capable of fighting of her own accord.
** The Rune Knights also qualify given that they're little more than mooks in canon, but have members capable of fighting on par with some of Fairy Tail's best and brightest in this story.
*** This in particular is lampshaded by two of them who are annoyed by the fact that the public has such a low opinion of the rank and file of their organization as a whole.
** Mutsuki Minase was a mere [[BridgeBunnies bridge bunny]] in canon, here she's a [[spoiler:Vampire-Werewolf hybrid]] born only every 400 years.
* AdaptationExpansion: In addition to the above about things Mashima either flat out ignores or only hints at existing, ever since Lelouch was PutOnABus after the events of chapter 76 [[TheBusCameBack though it came back]] the series has widened itself to focus on other characters and showcase what they are capable of, [[TheStationsOfTheCanon even while Fairy Tail is trapped under the ocean thanks to Acnologia]].
* ADeathInTheLimelight: [[spoiler:Poor [[TheChewToy Ashley Aurora]] of Kraken's eye. In the same chapter were she does something of note, she's brutally killed by VV.]]
** [[spoiler:In the chapter were we get to know the names and abilities of the eunuchs, they are all brutally killed by Tianzi. [[AssholeVictim Not that anyone will miss them]].]]
* AffirmativeActionGirl: There are several female Dragon Slayers, both first and second generation, to compliment Wendy.
* AllThereInTheManual: You can find some brainstorm details about the fic [[http://draconichero18.deviantart.com/journal/Fanfic-Brainstorm-Fairy-Without-Wings-368727460 here]]. The author had a second brainstorm page, but recently took it down because it was considerably spoiler heavy for things to come [[spoiler:like Marianne's death]].
* AlmostKiss: [[spoiler:Shimon and Chelia have one of these during the Envoy From the Future arc before Orochi interrupts it]].
* AlwaysABiggerFish: Chapter 236, and just the Guild War arc in general, plays hard ball with this trope. Grand General Karn was always a big fish and is the stronges in Fiore, but he's second-in-command to Ishgar's strongest Rune Knight, Yamato Hayabusa. Later, VV becomes so almighty [[AGodAmI to the point of calling himself god]], it takes [[WildCard Acnologia]] showing up to prove that this trope is still in play. But even ''that'' isn't the end to this trope's usage. The immediate chapter after Acnologia shows up, [[spoiler:Irene Belserion]] shows up and proves she can hold her own against even the mighty black dragon. VV is still the smaller fish against this new arrival. [[spoiler:And he winds up dying to her when he realizes just how outclassed he was]]. However, then [[[spoiler:Irene]] leaves the battlefield. This then allows ''another'' fish in the pond to start causing trouble: [[spoiler:currently bonkers out of her gourd, Kallen due to trying to merge her demon soul and dragon soul together while under the effects of Mass Hysteria. Irene had kept her sedated, for lack of a better term, while she was in the area, but once she left, Kallen resumed turning the newly restored Era into the aftermath of a nuclear bomb going off]]. And ''even then'', Natsu is being utilized as the counter to this big fish by being hyped up on Etherion, courtesy of Lelouch, so he can use Dragon Force. Good god, Rube Goldberg machines are less complex than this.
* AlwaysChaoticEvil: Deconstructed during the Tartaros arc with regards to demons as the arc goes out of its way to show [[ThenLetMeBeEvil what happens when a society of one species continues to harass another just by existing]].
* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents: Usually Kasumi fits the bill for Kalina, but in chapter 198 she subverts this by turning out to be "cool mom" to all of Kalina's peers, especially by comparison to [[spoiler:Alice and Archer Amakusa whose karaoke number makes Pyrrha go for the paper bag with eye-holes cliche to avoid being seen. Archer, [[LampshadeHanging knew in advance their performance would have this effect]] and apologized to Pyrrha in advance]].
* AnAesop: Many a [[FramingDevice quote]] are like this.
* AndThisIsFor: Natsu does this to a member of Omega Sphere for attacking Alzack and Bisca in chapter 7.
* AnyoneCanDie: See BlackDudeDiesFirst below.
** [[spoiler:As of chapter 114, all of the named characters in Raven Tail sans Flare and including Ivan are as good as gone. [[AssholeVictim Not that anyone will miss them]]]].
** [[spoiler:Uosuke from the Garou Knights has also bit the dust, but his nakama swear to avenge him from the unseen threat that plagues the Nirix arc]].
** [[spoiler:Rufus as of the Nirix arc, [[DyingMomentOfAwesome but he goes out like a badass]]]].
** [[spoiler: [[AgentPeacock Bob]] as well, courtesy of Mordred]].
** [[spoiler: In Tartaros arc Babasama is also killed along with Toby and Yuka.]]
** [[spoiler: As of chapter 256, ''All'' members of Quattro Cerberus and most of Blue Pegasus are killed by Tartaros.]]
** Chapter 260 provides probably the most savage and eye opening example of them all: [[spoiler:Minerva Orlando]].
* AscendedExtra: Phoenix Grave, a guild only mentioned in one of the volume extras of the [[Manga/FairyTail source material]] gets expanded into a full guild with no less than 5 members known all because one of them happens to have the same last name as Sabertooth's Minerva, so it is the author's reasonable deduction that the two are brother and sister given their father's behavior. Said brother is, again, only in the extras column. Talk about [[Main/ShownTheirWork showing your work]].
* AuthorAvatar: Alex Goldrose, mild-mannered reporter for Sorcerer Weekly.
* BadassFamily: There are several on this story:
** The Dreyar family has [[EmpoweredBadassNormal Yuri]], [[BigGood Makarov]] and [[ShockAndAwe Laxus]]. [[spoiler:Nessa married into the family and then divorced but she's still considered part of the Dreyar]]. Ivan and Farah are seen as the exceptions.
** The Blendy family has Sherry, [[BadassAdorable Chelia]] and [[FourStarBadass Phelia]].
** The Atrumier family has Talbomosuke, [[MamaBear Kasumi]] and [[HalfHumanHybrid Kalina]]. [[spoiler:This also includes [[TheOlderImmortal Ratatosk]].]]
** The Feathermane family has [[IronLady Nivea]], [[EvilOldFolks Morianna]], [[spoiler:[[LadyOfWar Erza]] (related to through the Knightwalker family) and Meredy (who's the most distantly related)]].
** The Lamperouge-Vermillion family has [[MagnificentBastard Lelouch]], [[ActionMom Marianne]], [[RealityWarper Nunnally]], [[RedBaron Charles]], [[OurVampiresAreDifferent V.V.]] and [[TheStrategist Mavis]]. [[spoiler:Chapter 223 reveals that [[TheArchmage Zeref]] is Mavis' husband, which means Morrigan is Lelouch's great-grandaunt]].
** The Amakusa family has [[PowerCopying Archer]], [[TheAce Pyrrha]] and [[CreepyGood Alice]]. Its hard to determine on which family [[spoiler:[[PlayingWithFire Natsu]] and [[LastOfHisKind Nippy]] fit in, since Natsu, Alice and Nippy share dragon parents, but Natsu, Zeref and Morrigan share human parents]].
** And finally there's the [[spoiler:Fateburn family, that includes [[MasterSwordsman Travis]], [[SnakePeople Alysha]], [[ChildProdigy Skyler]] and Aisha. Skyler tells his half-brother [[ChildByRape Jellal]] that he will always have a place in the Fateburn family.]]
* BadassCrew: The Black Knights, Lelouch’s guild subset and Team Lancelot, which is Suzaku’s.
* BattleStrip: Besides the usual with Gray (and Lyon), during their match Jeremiah and Elfman take off their shirts to show their ''Manliness''.
* BeachEpisode: Part of chapters 8 and 9, but it isn’t what you’d expect.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: Two meta-examples back-to-back:
** For starters, many readers were vying for Erza to fight Cornelia during the Guild War arc, but after seeing the arc unfold, many wondered how Draconichero would pull it off without things feeling forced as hell. [[spoiler:Chapters 231 and 232 practically gut punched the entire fanbase by having VV unleash a spell that made all allies forget which side their on and only care about victory and the results are clear]]. With how brutal some of these fights are getting, you get the feeling the creator is [[TrollingCreator taunting the fanbase for wanting such a thing]].
** Fans have been outright demanding Lelouch go Dragon Force for arcs on end. Well, in chapter 232, we got it. [[spoiler:Except Lelouch is under VV's influence and this moment ''clearly'' isn't a moment of rejoicing, but rather a moment of [[OhCrap "Oh, Shit!"]] because Lelouch is clearly starting to become unhinged like his [[FutureMeScaresMe evil self from the future]]]]. Once again, you feel like Draconichero [[TrollingCreator is taunting us all]].
* BedmateReveal: In chapter 150, Gray wakes up and assumes his arm is asleep only it turns out to be Juvia under the covers. Overlaps with a case of ThereIsOnlyOneBed.
* BelligerentSexualTension: Resolved between [[spoiler:Rakshata and Lloyd]] in chapter 161. It's still up in the air whether or not they're now a couple or if they were just engaging in rage sex.
* BigBadassBattleSequence: Most of the Envoy of the Future arc is one between the guilds of Fiore and Mordred's army of dragons and familiars.
* BigDamnHeroes: Happens to [[spoiler:Guinevere]] in chapter 38. First by [[spoiler:Cornelia]] and then by [[spoiler:Schneizel, Rena, Asura, AND Erza]].
** Happens during the fight against Zero, the leader of Oracion Seis, as [[spoiler:Makarov and Marianne]] show up to bail out our heroes.
** Gino becomes this in the Edolas arc to Wendy, Lelouch and Kallen
** Happens during the Nirix arc where it looks like Kagura is about to bite the dust [[LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt (not really)]] and [[spoiler:Jellal]] and Rorix show up to save her and the gang from Nirix.
** During the Envoy From the Future arc, [[spoiler:[[HeelFaceTurn Cobra]], [[VillainousRescue Emma]] and [[RememberTheNewGuy Leaf Valentine]]]] all come to the heroes' aid.
*** [[spoiler:During the very following chapter, [[DarkestHour just as all hope seems lost]] ''Future Natsu'' makes a [[DynamicEntry grandstanding entrance]] and delivers an epic punch to Mordred's face]].
** While not precisely heroes, the [[ProfessionalKiller Garou Knights]] show up to help Phoenix Grave against Cracked Gemstone.
** Lucy keeps ending up on the receiving end of this trope in chapter 224. By no means is she as close to death as some other examples, but she seems to have the devil's luck getting helped out by allies whenever she starts to get in a pinch. In fact, this trope remains persistent with Lucy on the receiving end throughout the Guild War arc. [[spoiler:At least until Bismarck and Ushiora come into play. By the time help does arrive, Lucy has long since passed out from fatigue]].
*** By that same token, counting every instance this trope comes into play in the Guild War arc would take too damn long.
** An epic one in chapter 236 when [[spoiler:Irene Berserion descends onto the battlefield in dragon form and not only heals Erza's injuries, she ''injures'' '''Acnologia'''. She then proceeds to kill VV.]]
* BigDamnKiss: In chapter 76, [[spoiler:Schneizel]] presents one to [[spoiler:Guinevere]].
** In chapter 146 you have one between [[spoiler:Kagura and Jellal]]
** Chapter 147 almost completely overshadows that one by finally resolving the UnresolvedSexualTension between [[spoiler:Erza and Lelouch]] with this trope. Both this example and the previous one overlap with HollywoodKiss given the passion that's described as per the narration.
** Chapter 153 ranks up [[spoiler:Gray and Juvia]] to OfficialCouple status with one of these and [[DidTheyOrDidntThey it's implied]] that they made snoo-snoo at the end of the chapter(they didn't).
** Chapter 163 does the same with [[spoiler:Sherry and Lyon]] after the latter finally understood the former's feelings.
** In chapter 188 [[spoiler:Pyrrha downright makes out with Skyler]] after the latter tells her not to die a pointless death. Mortal danger is one hell of an aphrodisiac.
** Chapter 220 has a [[DoubleSubverted double subversion]]. First, it looks like it's about to be this trope with [[spoiler:Suzaku and Minerva]] only for it to turn into an AlmostKiss when they get interrupted. [[spoiler:Only for Suzaku to then bring this trope back into play by going all the way.]]
* BitchInSheepsClothing: [[spoiler:Rushio Seam]].
** [[spoiler:The same with Monique A. Fiore]].
* BittersweetEnding: The Rise to Power arc ends like this. Depending on your viewpoint, Sabertooth winning the Grand Magic Games over Serpent's Heart could feel like a downer. Kagura also finds out that Zangetsu and [[spoiler:Jellal]] are one in the same person [[spoiler:and has a [[HeroicBSOD mental breakdown]], but this gets amended and eventually the two move past it. Nivea dies. And Minerva finds herself, at the end of the arc, once again alone]]. It's only this trope and not a complete DownerEnding like the Black Knights arc because of the hope brought about by the Kagura/Zangetsu ordeal.
** The same can be said of the Envoy of the Future arc. [[spoiler:Sure, Mordred's been defeated and the dragons return to their own timeline, but several members of many guilds, including Master Bob, are dead. The threat of Tartaros and Acnologia continues and Lelouch and Erza now know what would happen to Lelouch if he ever lost her.]]
* BlackComedy: This exchange between Lelouch and Schneizel
--> '''Lelouch:''' [[MurderIsTheBestSolution It would’ve been faster to just kill them]].
--> '''Schneizel:''' And what pray tell would you have liked me to have done with the bodies?
* BlackDudeDiesFirst: The first non-OC fatality in the whole series is [[spoiler:Ren Akatsuki]].
* BookEnds: Chapter 1 ends with Lelouch accepting Kallen into Knightmare Frame with the latter clutching his hand to "seize her destiny". Chapter 238 ends with [[spoiler:Kallen doing the same for Ayame Futaba, thus bringing Kallen's character arc to a close]].
* BoxingLessonsForSuperman: Natsu's TrainingFromHell in the Return of Fairy Tail arc seems to revolve around this given Chandra's exposition.
** The same could be said of his training with Enna Elsa.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: [[BunnyEarsLawyer Gino]] makes a comment about how sarcasm needs its own font and not having one will confuse the readers.
* BreatherEpisode: Chapter 220 helps the reader calm down from the action that had been going on in chapters prior, being full of lighthearted comedy and hijinks.
* BrickJoke: In chapter 36, Cornelia tries to cure Gray of his stripping habit. [[FailureIsTheOnlyOption This goes about as well as one would expect]]. This trope comes into play when her first attempt to cure Gray involves [[ItMakesSenseInContext showing him a picture of]] [[{{Squick}} Natsu in a Speedo]]. When Gray later strips down after she tries duct tapping his clothes to his body, Gray is wearing a speedo instead of boxer shorts. And ''[[ChekhovsBoomerang then]]'' during a debate later in the chapter over posters for the upcoming play, Tohdoh's idea is [[ItMakesSenseInContext Jeremiah wearing a speedo]].
** During the Naval Battle Jeremiah wears a speedo.
** The author [[LampshadeHanging lampshades]] the use of this trope in chapter 48 by tossing a brick into orbit saying that that will make sense in about a hundred chapters.
*** The brick hits him on the head at the end of chapter 161 making this a literal example of this trope, but also because Lelouch and Erza once again get kicked out of a restaurant for beating up a sleaze bag trying to grope the ''exact same waitress'' from chapter 48.
** Lucy being [[MissedTheCall absent]] from the Edolas arc.
** In the first chapter of the Yawgmoth Island arc, Sherry mentions that she wouldn't trust Gino with her pet goldfish. Gino points out she doesn't have a goldfish. In the last chapter of the arc, it's implied said goldfish were eaten by Angelica.
** After the first battle of the Guild War arc, Lucy mentions that the council is going to get a bill ''from'' Fairy Tail this time given how many times they've sent bills to Makarov's desk for Fairy Tail's wanton destruction. The last chapter of the guild war arc shows that, yes, Lucy was completely serious.
** Waaaaaaaaaay back in chapter 89, Margaret stated that she wanted to make Rustyrose her jester because he amuses her so. [[spoiler:Cut to 237 where he ''is'' a jester, but to Morrigan, not Margaret]].
* BridalCarry: In the Nirix arc, this is how Hibiki rescues Princess Hisui.
** Archer carts Alice off the battlefield during the Grand Magic Games this way because she's exhausted, but she's acting like she's fine. Bonus points for the fact that Alice is his actual bride.
* BringMyBrownPants: Airy wets herself at the sight of one of Kalina's Nightmares. [[spoiler:Sorano]] of all people, admits she peed herself in the aftermath of [[spoiler:Kallen and Mirajane's battle.]]
* BringMyRedJacket: Subverted. Lelouch hates to get his red jacket mangled, damaged or torn since it was a gift given to him by Erza Scarlet so while he takes it everywhere, he always takes it off before things get rough. [[UnstoppableRage God help you]] [[BerserkButton if you do somehow damage it]].
* BullyingADragon: Iron Star was pretty much asking for the gruesome BEATDOWN that ensued when they pissed Kallen off and subsequently got [[CurbStompBattle curbstomped]] by Marianne. At ''what point'' did antagonizing ''Kallen'' seem like a good idea?
** [[SmallNameBigEgo Audrey Belladona]] also couldn't keep her [[SirSwearsALot mouth]] shut and attack Amy in front of Kallen, dragging her team into a fight. As Sting lampshades it, they were ''slaughtered'' like sheep.
** Ushiora ''really'' should have known better than to try and murder Kalina to get a fight with [[MamaBear Kasumi]]. [[spoiler:[[CurbStompBattle Kasumi showed her]] [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown why that was]] [[NoBodyLeftBehind a bad idea]].]]
* CallBack: In chapter 76, Erza repeats the exact same lines to Lelouch that he told her eight years ago to cheer her up [[spoiler:in order to help Lelouch get over his mother's death]].
** There's one to the very first chapter in chapter 114. Kallen says to Lelouch, almost word for word chapter one's end quote.
** When Lelouch is having ''yet another'' mental breakdown, Erza snaps him out of his funk again, this time using the words he used to help her back in chapter 92.
** Legretta still [[NoodleIncident isn't allowed anymore strawberry sunrises]].
** Gino also worries about what they do to [[PrettyBoy guys like him]] in [[PrisonRape prison]].
* CallForward: During the flashback of Cornelia’s history, Nonette talks about potentially becoming a Wizard Saint.
** During a flashback of [[spoiler:Sindel's]] history, Mavis talks about building a clubhouse for the Fairy Tail women that she was going to call Fairy Hills.
* CaptainErsatz: Because fanfiction.net only allows stories where two series can be crossed over, the writer employs this trope to get a lot of characters from other series involved in all but name the same way the Anime/CodeGeass characters are involved. While some original characters are simply [[{{Expy}} similar rather than identical]]. The following are basically the same character. To wit:
** From Fighting Spirit:
*** Rorix Graymare, Chandra Graymare, and Vanessa Graymare are [[VideoGame/EndlessFrontier Haken Browning, Aschen Brodel, and Kaguya Nanbu]].
*** Selina Victoria, Renji Blake, Vixie Blake, and Leaf Valentine are [[VideoGame/ProjectXZone Saya, Reiji, Xiaomu and Sheath]].
*** Orochi Bahn, Shimon Ikari and Chikara Rasenhime are [[Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann Kamina, Simon, and Nia Tepplin]].
*** Juren Rakkan is [[Manga/NegimaMagisterNegiMagi Jack Rakan]].
** From Serpent's Heart:
*** Shura Sunshine and Henry Ichifira are [[VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening Tharja and Henry]].
*** Miala and Maria Hauticlere borrow appearance and personality from [[FireEmblemShadowDragon Minerva and Maria]], though with Miala often drove to her RageBreakingPoint due to [[TheThingThatWouldNotLeave Nippy's behavior]]. However, the dynamic duo between the two that [[CharacterDevelopment eventually happens]], bring Miala to the status of dragon rider, like how Minerva is in her canon.
*** Ryumia Tatsumiya is so blatantly [[Manga/NegimaMagisterNegiMagi Mana Tatsumiya]] that the writer didn't even bother changing her last name or weapon.
** Nocturnal Falcon and Frozen Jaguar's main group, with the exception of Sakura Menjou, are all based on the characters from Night Raid and the Jaegers from Manga/AkameGaKill.
** Phoebe Amethyst and Sabrina Sapphire are [[VideoGame/HyruleWarriors Cia and Lana]] with Cia's obsession with Link replaced by Phoebe's obsession with [[MyHeroZero Zero]].
** Howling Wolf, in addition to having Sayoko on the team, brings us Kyle Regent, Elizabeth Saturn and Lucas Senshiro. Or, in other words, [[VideoGame/TalesOfVesperia Yuri Lowell, Judith, and Flynn Scifo]].
** This was outright ''invoked'' with regards to Cracked Gemstone so that the author could get a WholePlotReference. Ember Garnet, James J. Teakwood, Vanilla S. Chocolate, Cain Bloodstone, Jade Juniper, and Platinum Stardust are all [[WebAnimation/{{RWBY}} Cinder Fall, Roman Torchwick, Neo, Adam Taurus, Emerald Sustrai, and Mercury Black]]. The only ''real'' change is that Cain is a machina where as Adam Taurus is a faunas.
** Related to the above, Phoenix Grave gives us Wanda Rose, Legretta Upton, Heidy Orenstein, and Clarice Spay as iterations of [[WebAnimation/{{RWBY}} Team RWBY]]. And Pyrrha Amakusa, Nancy Abaddon, and Jin Tobias are Pyrrha Nikos, Nora Valkyrie, and Lie Ren.
** Among the Rune Knights we have:
*** Phelia Blendy and Senshiro Izanami as [[Manga/{{Naruto}} Sakura and Sasuke]].
*** Amber Celadon as [[VideoGame/BlazBlue Noel Vermillion]].
*** Kurena Menjou as [[Anime/KillLaKill Ryuko Matoi]].
*** Adrian Bluecorn as [[Manga/{{Freezing}} Arnett McMillan]].
** Atarella Kozuki, Enna Elsa, Alysha Fateburn and Travis Fateburn are Granberia, Alipheese Fateburn the 16th, Alma Elma, and Luka from ''Monster Girl Quest''.
** Tristan is this of [[VideoGame/LeagueOfLegends Gnar]] from the orange fur down to the growth issues.
** The new council members are quite obviously this to [[Franchise/{{Danganronpa}} Byakuya Togami, Kyoko Kirigiri, Makoto Naegi and Chiaki Nanami]], while a new recruit for the Black Knights is based on Celestia Ludenberg.
** One of the interviewees of the Neo Black Knights is based on [[Literature/FateZero Kiritsugu Emiya]].
** Lisa, Max and Ellie Heartfilia are [[Videogame/PokemonSunAndMoon Lusamine, Gladion and Lillie]]
** Marin Reverse is [[Anime/{{Slayers}} Lina Inverse]]
** If a character isn't listed here, then it's because they only resemble the character they're based on and are listed below under Expy.
* CerebusSyndrome: The Sindel arc starts off with a cheerful and lighthearted march across Fiore with Fairy Tail all gung ho on a group mission. The arc starts to take a ''much'' darker turn once the dark guild Frozen Jaguar makes an appearance. And it only got worse from there.
* ChekhovsGun: Though in this case it might as well be more Chekhov's location given all the buildup in the Unistrad arc regarding Krune Pass. According to WordOfGod the entire Unistrad arc is chock full of [[ChekhovsGun this trope]] and highly subtle {{Foreshadowing}}.
* ClothesMakeTheSuperman: The asterisk system much in the same fashion as where [[VideoGame/BravelyDefault it's inspired from]].
* CreatorInJoke: The Drunken Spartan in chapter 1. On Website/DeviantArt the author belongs to a group called the Drunken Spartans.
%%* CoitusUninterruptus: See InterruptedIntimacy below, the second example.
* ColdBloodedTorture: Zero almost always tortures his targets before killing them, usually beginning with a GroinAttack.
* ColonyDrop: In a flashback regarding how [[ForegoneConclusion Angel’s Feather became Fighting Spirit]] the dark guild Demon’s Horn drops ''the moon'' onto Earth Land. [[spoiler:[[Awesome/FairyWithoutWings Rakkan throws it back into orbit]]]].
* CooldownHug: Gino gives one of these to Anya during the Yawgmoth Island arc after [[spoiler:Anya turns full dragon as a result of being BrainwashedAndCrazy and tries to [[MurderTheHypotenuse kill Chelia]]]].
* CombatPragmatist: In the X788 Grand Magic Games, Hibiki, Miala and Anya all do this in rapid succession during Hunt:
** Using archive magic, Hibiki changes Miala's path, forcing her to take more time to get to her goal because of a single road block he added. This was ruled as LoopholeAbuse since nothing in the rules specified he wasn't allowed to do that.
** Miala has Nippy run down a zigzagging path as he pushes off the walls with his hind legs, which again is rendered a case of LoopholeAbuse since nothing in the rules said she couldn't do that.
** Realizing she's going to lose in a contest of raw speed, Anya attacks Rogue outright and even though she knew he was going to dodge, it makes up all the difference to net her third place in the event.
* CrapsackWorld: It seems to be a requirement of Knightmare Frame that you have some sort of sad history to be allowed into the guild.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: Lelouch’s Spinal Tap ability desegments the cartilage from your spinal column and leaves you in pieces. [[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill Overkill]] much?
** That pales in comparison [[EveryoneHasStandards by Lelouch's own admission]] to the death of [[spoiler:Ivan Dreyar]]. Imagine being turned into a tree, but instead of it happening instantaneously, you feel every single moment of it in pure agony as your bones break into twigs and leaves and your body stretches to become made of wood. You can't see, hear [[AndIMustScream or talk]], but you can still feel pain. Then, someone chops you up into pieces [[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill and then]] [[KillItWithFire burns your pieces]]. That is messed up.
* CurbStompBattle: CC, Ratatosk and Loke do this to a trio of demons in the Journey to Hell arc. CC even does it twice.
** Ratatosk Vs Ein. [[spoiler:Ein never stood a chance]].
** Kyouka Vs The Black Knights. [[spoiler:Our heroes never stood a freaking ''chance'']].
*** In the previous chapter [[spoiler:members of Fairy Tail get utterly wasted by the Black Knights]].
** Serpent's Heart going up against Crow's Nest, especially when Nessa ups the ante by going Dragon Force.
** Chandra does this to Jace during the Grand Magic Games arc. She even interrupts the hammy intro that is declared before every fight. Poor bastard never stood a chance.
** Gajeel Vs Zero, yes [[Anime/CodeGeass that one]]. Poor Gajeel never stood a chance. Granted this was before he finished his TrainingFromHell after Fairy Tail was [[FishOutOfTemporalWater left behind in time]], but still...
** Zelda[[spoiler:/Ultear]] Vs Dorothea Ernst in the Grand Magic Games. [[spoiler:Dat Arc of Time yo!]]
** Philosopher's Stone in general has been getting this treatment [[spoiler:on the receiving end]] throughout most of the Grand Magic Games. [[AssholeVictim Probably for the best]].
** Nonette vs [[spoiler:Team Fairy Tail A]] starts off this way with her [[spoiler:taking out Lucy and Lisanna with minimal effort right at the start]].
** Alice vs Ember. [[spoiler:Ember never stood a chance.]]
** The Rune Knights vs the [[spoiler:lesser members of Fairy Tail and Knightmare Frame]]. The Rune Knights suffer a humiliating defeat.
** [[spoiler:Atarella]] vs Team Flamewing. [[spoiler:Skyler and his friends couldn't even scratch her]].
** VV vs [[spoiler:Irene Berserion]]. [[spoiler:VV ends as a bloodstain on the floor.]]
** Serpent's Heart vs Enna Elsa. [[spoiler:The results weren't [[DepravedBisexual pretty for the mages]].]]
** Sabertooth [[spoiler:ends up on the receiving end of this during chapter 248. Tartaros is clearly not to be taken lightly this time around]].
** Fairy Tail [[spoiler:''finally'' ends up on the ''receiving'' end of this when facing down the Zombie Squad]].
** Chapter 254 has several instances of it back to back. First, the demon Letter goes solo against Kraken's Eye and promptly gets taken out quickly. Then, [[spoiler:Ushiora takes to the field and wrecks all of Kraken's Eye, only for [[MamaBear Kasumi]] to show up and [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown utterly]] [[CurbStompBattle wreck]] [[NoBodyLeftBehind her]]]].
* CurbStompCushion: Though Eve tries during the Grand Magic Games against Lyon, he stands no chance and we are treated to one of the quickest fights in the arc.
** Fighting Spirit [[spoiler:performs marginally better than Sabertooth against Tartaros' initial attack force. Keyword there being marginally]].
** Fairy Tail [[spoiler:ends up on the receiving end of this while fighting, [[TheJuggernaut Roxanne]]. Sure, Mira, Aquarius and Laxus get a few good hits in, but its ultimately futile. She kicks all of their asses, marking her ''second'' victory against the guild if one includes her one on one bout with Natsu]].
* DarkerAndEdgier: The series is a downplayed version of this for Fairy Tail. On the one hand, the author definitely does his best to bring up more adult subjects, but will still do things that are, as he puts it, true to Fairy Tail form. As for Code Geass, it's definitely LighterAndSofter.
* DarkestHour: Chapter 42. We have a lycan [[spoiler:Kallen]], an [[BrainwashedAndCrazy evil]] [[spoiler:Mirajane]], [[ObviouslyEvil suspicious vampires]], eternal night, [[ArtifactOfDoom cursed artifacts]], and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking worst of all]]...a [[LittleBitBeastly hairy]] [[spoiler: [[LittleBitBeastly Lucy]].]]
** [[FramingDevice The quote]] at the end of that chapter said it all
--> ''The dreams are gone. Midnight has come. Darkness is our new kingdom.''
** Chapter 100. [[spoiler:Margaret corrupts the Tenrou Tree--she makes it work for Grimoire Heart as opposed to Fairy Tail--and Erza is the only one within spitting distance of stopping her and is the only one with the power to do so that isn't preoccupied or unconscious]].
** Not to be outdone by previous examples, chapter 191, appropriately titled Ultimate Despair, has the closest the series has come thus far to a NearVillainVictory and really brings about a sense of hopelessness and dread with even main characters looking like they're about to bite it [[spoiler:until [[BigDamnHeroes Natsu comes from the future]] [[Dynamic Entry and punches Mordred in the face]], once again sparking the light of hope in everyone]]. The narration even lampshades this example saying how just when things are at their darkest, light will eventually seep through.
* ADayInTheLimelight: The One Thousand and One Blades arc is this since it focuses on Kagura and Guinevere. The former hadn't even been introduced up until that point sans a single flashback and the latter is only a sub-main character compared to the likes of Lelouch, Kallen, Natsu and Erza.
* DeadPersonConversation: [[spoiler:Sachi appears before Kallen after Kallen wakes up in her flashback, but she’s using Soul Projection in order to talk to Kallen one last time]].
* DeathGlare: It would be easier to count the amount of chapters when people ''aren't'' shot dirty looks.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: In chapter 48, Lelouch gives Erza a strawberry cheesecake that he made himself. Erza's thoughts on the taste? [[DoubleEntendre The cheese is thick and creamy and she wants to savor the taste]]. [[SarcasmMode draconic hero is the master of subtlety as always]].
* {{Doorstopper}}: The series has almost eclipsed ''Fanfic/SoulChess'' in length, which is already longer than all 7 Harry Potter books combined.
* DownerEnding: The Black Knights arc ends this way. [[spoiler:Marianne dies. Suzaku gets to go to the council and becomes a KarmaHoudini for betraying Knightmare Frame. Several members of Knightmare Frame leave the guild and [[PutOnABus Lelouch leaves to go on a journey that will take him three to five years]]]].
* DudeNotFunny: In-universe, when Suzaku is unable to access the Zantetsuken while he and Lelouch face down [[ArcVillain VV]], Lelouch suggests if he should choke Minerva to death to get Suzaku to get angry to access the power. Suzaku becomes rather peeved at Lelouch for suggesting such a thing.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: Chase and Tina Connors of the Rune Knights are annoyed by the fact that the public has such a low opinion of the rank and file of their organization as a whole.
* DynamicEntry: Natsu breaks through an inn's roof to beat a wraith that gave Lucy a JumpScare.
** Which is nothing to compared to the one [[spoiler:his future self delivers where he jumps straight out of the time portal and punches Mordred in the face]].
* EnsembleCast: While the members of Knightmare Frame and Fairy Tail get the main focus, characters from other guilds are also given some depth and a few even have their own story arcs, such as Kagura, Hibiki and Sherry and Lyon.
* EurekaMoment: Lelouch has one when he realizes [[spoiler:Nirix's]] weakness.
* EveryoneCanSeeIt: Kalina, Lucy, Mirajane and even possibly Jellal are already jumping on board with noticing that Lelouch and Erza might think of each other as more than [[BlatantLies Just]] [[JustFriends Friends]]. [[spoiler:Even when Lelouch and Erza do finally get together and try to hide it, Kallen and a few others are capable of seeing through the cracks]].
* {{Expy}}: While there are plenty of [[CaptainErsatz blatant copies]] of characters in this story, some only resemble the character their based on. Take note:
** Airy Kitsune borrows [[VideoGame/LeagueOfLegends Ahri's]] looks, but Airy is TheDitz while Ahri is TheVamp.
** Sindel ''started'' as a CaptainErsatz of Syndra in her initial appearance, but with CharacterDevelopment sinking in, she's more or less this. Not to mention Sindel's values system is way different given she grew up in Fairy Tail.
** While Undine keeps up the pirate talk, her background and [[TeamMom personality]] make her too distinct to do anything more than resemble [[VideoGame/EndlessFrontier Anne Sirena]].
** Kasumi is actually this of other works done by the same author.
** Asura Kaimen may resemble [[VideoGame/TalesOfSymphonia Kratos Aurion]] in personality and appearance, but his other traits such as background and actions clearly contradict his counterpart.
** As the writer has never played VideoGame/ShiningForce, Rena Sianne only borrows Riemsianne La Ves' appearance and nothing more.
** Alice and Archer are [[Literature/FateApocrypha Red Assassin and Shirou Kotomine]]. However, the goals of both and actions taken by them make them far more of good people than their counterparts. Also, Alice's... behavior is definitely different from Semiramis'.
** Priscilla Starkwing was created with the idea of being [[VideoGame/TalesOfSymphonia Presea Combatir]], but older in terms of appearance and her personality is nothing like Presea's.
** Jace Highwind and Leana Verundum from Kraken's Eye borrow appearances from [[TabletopGame/MagicTheGathering Jace Beleren and Liliana Vess]]. However, Jace is a CasanovaWannabe ButtMonkey, while Leana is decisively far less evil and interested in necromancy. In addition, Nessa Revenati is Nissa Revane.
** While her sister Kurena blatantly rips off Ryuko, Sakura Menjou more or less simply resembles [[Anime/KillLaKill Satsuki Kiryuin]].
** From the Rune Knights:
*** Bolt Naikara and Peshkatz Fireman are this of [[VideoGame/MetalGearRisingRevengeance Raiden and Jetstream Sam]].
*** Judas Crossbolt is this of [[Manga/{{Bleach}} Yhwach]] and Tony Wolfe is Coyote Stark.
*** Saigara Daishogu resembles [[Manga/{{Inuyasha}} Sesshomaru]].
*** Sean Exodus borrows his appearance and WarriorPoet nature from [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII Genesis Rhapsody]].
*** Siegfried Karn resembles [[Literature/FateApocrypha Saber of Black]].
*** Yamato Hayabusa's powers and appearance are borrowed from [[VideoGame/AsurasWrath Asura]], but he is ''way'' to calm to be everyone's favorite [[TheBerserker Berserker]].
** With how much he lays an utter beating on our heroes and never utters a word, how could Nirix be this trope of anyone other than [[ComicBook/TheDeathOfSuperman Doomsday]]? He's only not a [[CaptainErsatz blatant copy]] given his powers work completely differently and he has a completely different background.
** Isabella [[spoiler:Belserion]] is based on [[Franchise/BlazBlue Tsubaki Yayoi]], but time will tell if her story is similar.
** Any character not listed here is likely a CaptainErsatz. Please carefully consider which is which before adding an entry to this trope or the other one.
* FailureIsTheOnlyOption: Regarding [[spoiler:stopping Marianne's execution]].
* FantasticRacism: With a side order of HumansAreTheRealMonsters. Undine's adoptive dragon parent, Erubay, hated humans to the point of stopping Undine from trying to marry one by killing him right in front of her. She only made an exception for Undine because when she found Undine as a tiny baby, Undine wasn't scared of her and gave her a hug. For Erubay, she's a bit justified considering that humans broke her wings and rendered her incapable of flying, which is why she spends all of her time in the ocean and she has lived for so long that her ideology seems to reflect that of Zeref's in regards to seeing how disgusting human culture can be.
** According to WordOfGod humans are this way towards demons, but this is sort of a JustifiedTrope in-universe given how many demons trick and kill humans. Of course, [[MySpeciesDothProtestTooMuch Ratatosk would have a few things to say about this]].
* AFateWorseThanDeath: [[spoiler:C.C. basically lobotomizes Esmie Jufendissimo by erasing all her memories using Geass, rendering '''Ankhseram's Curse''' neutral. Niyoko finds it disturbing.]]
* FemmeFatale: Selina Victoria from the dark guild Demon's Horn. The narration even describes her as one.
* FightingYourFriend: [[spoiler:A direct result of the Mass Hysteria caused by VV during the Guild War arc. The first wave of battles we see, and many were offscreen, include Erza Vs Cornelia, Wendy Vs Chelia, and Natsu Vs Gray. And there's still Natsu Vs Erza to come]].
* ForegoneConclusion: Suzaku's arc provides a flashback where we know the ending of the story will end with [[spoiler:Juren Rakkan giving up his Wizard Saint status and Angel's Feather becoming Fighting Spirit due to the guild disbanding]].
* {{Foreshadowing}}:
** Milly’s own family issues foreshadow similar issues in Cornelia’s own arc.
** Kallen also mentioned when she once used Breaker X in one of the earlier chapters. In chapter 9 we learn why she was scared of the technique previously.
** We know that Kallen’s third guild died because she lost control of her powers. We get to see how in chapter 9.
** During Cornelia’s flashback it’s already been established that her darling older sister, Estellise, is going to die at some point. We're just waiting for the other shoe to drop as it were. [[TearJerker/FairyWithoutWings Oh god does it not make things any less heartwrenching when said shoe drops though]].
** If you’re paying attention you should be able to see the twist that [[spoiler:Selina is Suzaku’s MissingMom]] coming.
** WordOfGod is that the ending quote of chapter 44 is Foreshadowing of a later arc and it should be pretty obvious at this point that Mary Markov is [[spoiler: Edolas Marianne]].
*** And now we know why [[spoiler:Suzaku betrayed Knightmare Frame]].
** In hindsight, it becomes obvious that draconichero was building towards [[spoiler:Sindel being the BigBad of her arc]] the whole time, but you don't really know that the first time reading it.
** Sindel [[spoiler:regaining part of her memory and having a portion of her seal undone in the battle against Rustyrose]] should come as a shock to no one given how much it was discussed during the arc.
** Chikara's true nature [[spoiler:and subsequently the true nature of Shimon's magic]] was subtly hinted at when she drank Chandra and Orochi under the table [[spoiler:being a spirit, she would logically not be able to get drunk]].
** Asura Vs Kagura in general was hinted at twice before it actually happened later in the arc.
** True to form, draconichero was about as subtle as a hammer with regards to something bad going to happen to Nivea and/or in general at the end of the Rise to Power arc. [[spoiler:Nivea dies at the end of the arc]].
** All of the TemptingFate talk of Erza dying throughout the Grand Magic Games arc was building up to [[spoiler:Erza's death in Mordred's timeline]].
** There's a moment way earlier on in the story where Lelouch talks about that he would never mess with a magic that he didn't fully comprehend [[spoiler:and look what happens when he dicks around with [[PowerCopying Skeleton Key]]]].
** The reveal that [[spoiler:Morrigan and CC are the same person]] has been hinted at for a long time. Let us count the ways:
*** In chapter 2, CC is initially shown with a witch hat and working with a cauldron[[spoiler:, likening her to the historical Morgan le Fay, a powerful witch and sorceress]].
*** Despite being a main character, CC isn't part of the Oracion Seis arc. [[spoiler:Brain who had met her before likely would've been able to identify her immediately]]. And there's also the fact that CC [[spoiler:is identical to Morrigan in appearance]].
*** Eventually it becomes apparent that [[spoiler:CC's backstory is a lie given that Ushiora is a demon and therefore doesn't have an extended family. Leading one to wonder where she came from]].
*** Coupled with the above, [[spoiler:CC has Geass: Rewrite, which has bailed Lelouch's ass out of the fire from the council during his early Zero career. And it's apparent she uses it to keep up any guise that suits her]].
*** It is apparent that [[spoiler:Morrigan likes to hide herself among Fiore as different people like Leyla Lazuli and Sephiria Gilgamesh. Cynthia "CC" Caroline is just another alias]].
*** During the Guild War, CC shows exactly what she's capable of [[spoiler:far beyond what even Lelouch knew her to be capable of, meaning there's far more to her than there appears to be]].
*** It also explains why [[spoiler:Morrigan appears in chapter 74 to chase away Kyouka from the Black Knights and then CC pops up with nary a mention of Morrigan]].
*** [[spoiler:CC and Morrigan are never on screen together]].
*** ''Most damning of all'' however, has to be the fact that CC knows every single Geass and notes that, far as she knows, no other human has mastered Geass beyond 7 spells. [[spoiler:Naturally, given she IS Morrigan, she would be capable of knowing all the spells she invented]]. And ''no one'' caught this.
* FramingDevice: At the beginning and end of each chapter the author provides a quote that falls in line with the context of the chapter. The quote can either be said by a character from the story from [[Anime/CodeGeass either]] [[Manga/FairyTail fandom]], an original character, and even some already existing ones.
* GenerationXerox: Many note that Natsu is very similar to his dragon parent Igneel in terms of personality.
* GetARoom: Kingsley suggests this of Laqueenta and Jackal given how much the two [[LikeAnOldMarriedCouple start bickering]] in chapter 248. Both resent the idea.
* GilliganCut: In chapter 107 Bisca says she's ready for anything after she protected her guild in the absence of Tenrou's group. Cut to her [[ScreamingBirth giving birth]] to Asuka.
** In chapter 209 Murasaki tells Natsu and Lisanna the three things you ''don't'' do when dealing with horned rock bears. Next scene she's screaming at Natsu for doing all three things while they're being chased by rock bears.
* GracefulLoser: [[spoiler:Gemini when Suzaku defeats it while under the contract of Angel]]. A few matches in the Grand Magic Games end this way too.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: [[spoiler:Tiberius]].
* HiddenInPlainSight: Morrigan seems to thrive on this trope given she has disguised herself as Sephiria Gilgamesh and Leyla Lazuli while only changing her hair and eye color so as not to be found out. But her face, body proportions and voice are all unchanged. [[spoiler:Lelouch and the others never even fathomed that she could be their pizza loving comrade, CC]].
* HopeSpot: Oh so you think that just because Lucy [[spoiler:stopped Withengar's curse]] before [[spoiler:the blood of 100 werewolves and 1 demon got onto Withengar's dagger]] things are fine? '''WRONG!'''
** Chapter 75. Surely draconichero wouldn't ''really'' kill off Marianne right? [[spoiler:See previous answer]].
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: A downplayed example with Arcadios in the Nirix arc. When doing open recruitment to help solve the murder mystery going on during the arc, he tells Lelouch he's free to do anything if it means solving the case. Lelouch jokes [[BlackComedy in his usual fashion]] that the wrong people might take that to start kidnapping virgins and sacrificing them to their gods. Arcadios then employs that he thinks himself to avert this trope not realizing her just let ''[[VigilanteMan Zero]]'' into the imperial palace and gave him free reign to do as he pleased.
** People think this of Toma with regards to his relationship with VV.
* HumansAreTheRealMonsters: Discussed at length throughout the Tartaros arc and seems to be the stance that the guild of demons takes throughout it. Most of its members, even Jackal, have been mistreated by humans and it has shaped, in turn, their hatred of humans as a result. It doesn't help that humans take demons as a case of AlwaysChaoticEvil.
* HumiliationConga: Happens to [[BreakTheHaughty Audrey Belladona]]. First she's utterly beaten by Kallen for attacking one of her teammates, later Sting sucker punches her in the face for trying to pin the blame on him. She's then submitted to Jiemma's ShamefulStrip and expelled from Sabertooth. When she becomes a dark mage intending to join Cracked Gemstone, Legretta [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown beats the tar out of her]] for traumatizing Wanda and nearly killing Clarice, then she's sent to prison. And finally Clarice convinces her to give her information about Cracked Gemstone, which reveals that Audrey was on death row at the time. She only gets off it because Clarice put in a good word for her. Fortunately things seem to go her way the next time she's seen in the Guild War arc, having learned it from fellow prisoner Lilianna Vergamon, but time will tell if the author is done [[CosmicPlaything toying with her yet]].
* InSpiteOfANail: Despite the introduction of Serpent's Heart and [[spoiler:making Jellal a member of their guild]], Sabertooth still becomes the strongest guild in Fiore in Fairy Tail's absence by winning the Grand Magic Games.
** Hell, in spite of Tenrou Island being delayed a year, Acnologia still sinks it to the bottom of the ocean and Grimoire Heart still invades prior to that.
* InterruptedIntimacy: In chapter 95, on Tenrou Island, both Freed and Mirajane inadvertently find Loke and Airy [[PrimalScene already engaged in the act]].
** This happens to [[spoiler:Rakshata and Lloyd]] in chapter 161, though to be fair they had the door locked and Sherry opened it with magic. They were only bothered because they were being loud. After the interruption, neither one stops and they [[CoitusUninterruptus keep going]].
* ItWasHisSled: If you are at all familiar with the Anime/CodeGeass mythos then [[spoiler:Zero and Lelouch turning out to be the same person]] shouldn’t be much of a spoiler.
* JackBauerInterrogationTechnique: The members of Knightmare Frame will do this to yield results if they think it will help.
** Lelouch is shown doing this to the guildmaster of Hedgehog Claw.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: The Celestial Spirit Vul may annoy and even belittle Yukino at times, but like the other spirits, she has her best interests at heart.
* JumpScare: Poor Lucy gets one of these in chapter 41.
* JustEatHim: How [[spoiler:Ratatosk]] disposes of [[spoiler:Ein]].
* JusticeByOtherLegalMeans: Even though Jiemma was testified against by his guild members, he was arrested for assaulting an officer of the council, namely Suzaku rather than abusing his guild, which we all know he's guilty as sin of.
** Suzaku has attempted this on VV time and again, with absolutely no success, only further cementing Lelouch's opinions on the blond that MurderIsTheBestSolution.
* KarmaHoudini: Averted in so far. Knightmare Frame makes ''damn'' sure all their enemies get the beating you want them to...unless you’re name is Suzaku.
** However, Knightmare Frame themselves sort of get away with manslaughter when it comes to Kallen's berserk rampage early on in the series.
** Suzaku is seen as this for his [[spoiler:betrayal of the guild. Some people are so outraged by this, you would think he is solely responsible for Marianne's death as though he executed her himself]].
* KillerRabbit: Ratatosk. His etherious form is a squirrel.
* KissingUnderTheInfluence: During a private conversation in Sabertooth's hotel suite, Minerva starts having one too many glasses of red wine and starts to get tipsy. She then leans towards [[spoiler:Suzaku]] and lips are locked [[spoiler:followed by engaging in intercourse, but then it's revealed that everything after a certain line of dialogue was [[AllJustADream part of a very vivid dream Minerva was having]] [[SubvertedTrope since she passed out after another glass of wine and all the saucy bits of the scene were all in her head]]]].
* KnightOfCerebus: By [[WordOfGod draconichero's admission]] the Unistrad arc is the darkest he is willing to go ''without'' killing anyone. So apparently things can [[FromBadToWorse still get worse]]. This, of course, begs the question, [[ParanoiaFuel how dark is he willing to go when a body count is involved]]? And, [[AnyoneCanDie given]] [[Fanfic/TalesOfBleachUnrealSociety previous]] [[Fanfic/SoulChess works]] who will die?
** [[spoiler:These questions are answered by the Nirix arc and the Envoy of the Future arc]].
* KnowWhenToFoldThem: [[spoiler:The first battle of the Guild War ends with Lelouch checkmating Suzaku by sending [[TheAce Nonette]] to face Suzaku. Knowing that alone he can't defeat her, orders to retreat, leaving several fights unfinished.]]
* LetsYouAndHimFight: The very basis of all of the battles in the Guild War arc after chapter 232.
* LoveTriangle: Lelouch can’t seem to avoid being caught in one, can he? Both Kallen and Shirley have it out for him and he's implied to have an interest in Erza. [[spoiler:As of 147, Erza has officially claimed him]].
** As of the events that lead to Suzaku [[spoiler:becoming guild master of Sabertooth]] he is now caught in one between [[spoiler:Minerva and Yukino]].
** Jellal is currently caught in one with Ultear and, of all people, Kagura. [[spoiler:As of 146, he's dating Kagura]].
** In the Nirix arc, Hisui has caught the eye of both Rolo and Hibiki. [[spoiler:And at the end of the arc she takes a liking to Hibiki]].
* MamaBear: Every mother in this story is an asskicker of some variety that can and ''will'' beat your ass into next Tuesday if you inflict bodily harm upon their children. Even surrogate parents, like how Undine is for Mermaid Heel, act this way. Kasumi in particular takes this trope up a notch with how much Kalina's well-being means to her. Of course, she, Nessa, ''and'' Alice have all shown their foes the kind of [[CurbStompBattle payment you get]] [[TooDumbToLive for messing with their children]]. Margaret of course, remains the sole exception who could not give less of a shit about her son [[spoiler:Jellal]]. Hell, even canon moms that weren't this trope have somehow become this trope [[spoiler:[[EstablishingCharacterMoment Isn't that right, Irene]]?]]
* MassOhCrap: Pretty much the reaction--reader included--when [[spoiler:Acnologia]] shows up in chapter 31 [[spoiler:same for his appearance in chapter 235]].
** All of Fairy Tail also has this reaction when they realize Nonette is [[spoiler:Gildarts']] rival.
** Knightmare Frame has this reaction when they realize they're gonna have to fight [[spoiler:three of the four Gods of Ishgar (who have been brainwashed).]]
-->'''Rivalz:''' We're so screwed.
-->'''Amy:''' Thank you CaptainObvious.
* MeaningfulEcho: The line that Lelouch uses to snap Erza out of her funk in chapter 92, is later used by Erza on ''him'' at the end of the Cracked Gemstone arc to do the same. See CallBack above.
* MoodWhiplash: The range of emotions and tones for scenes throughout the same ''chapter'' can range from hilarious to downright tragic or even terrifying, sometimes back to back.
* MirrorMatch: Suzaku when he faces off against Gemini who is currently his spitting image. In fact, every time Gemini sees use, it usually results in this trope.
* MookHorrorShow: The Black Knights certainly invoke this, especially Kallen, aka the [[RedBaron ''Crimson Nightmare'']].
* MundaneMadeAwesome: Chess has never sounded so interesting than when Lelouch and Lucy face off.
* MurderIsTheBestSolution: Often the topic of debate in this fic.
* MyFriendsAndZoidberg: During the Yawgmoth Island arc, because Ayaka is the party's client and not a mage of the guild, the narration constantly refers to the group as "The mages of Lamia Scale, plus Ayaka."
* MySpeciesDothProtestTooMuch: According to Ratatosk, not ''all'' demons were created by Zeref, many were already around before Zeref ever came into existence and seek to coexist with humans. It shouldn't be too hard to understand [[AlwaysChaoticEvil why that's a problem]]. [[HalfHumanHybrid Kasumi's birth]] marked a step in the right direction and Ratatosk even pulled a [[WesternAnimation/TheLionKing1994 Rafiki]].
* MythologyGag:
** Chapter 1 would not be the first time we’ve seen Kallen in a playboy bunny suit.
** Chapter 1 is also almost a play by play of Natsu’s meeting with Lucy. We have a guildless mage, a dragonslayer who rescues her and a douchebag pretending to be said dragonslayer who then gets the tar beaten out of him.
** Some of the [[FramingDevice quotes]] are often used this way.
** In a flashback Jeremiah can be seen wearing an Orange jacket.
** Inoue herself is this to the Inoue in ''Fanfic/SoulChess''.
** [[Fanfic/SoulChess Kasumi]] can't seem to avoid being MadeASlave can she?
** Suzaku gets bit by Arthur the cat.
** Mordred himself pays perfect homage to [[spoiler:the embodiment of what Lelouch was when he enacted Zero Requiem]]
*** You also have [[spoiler:Shirley]] dying at the hands of [[spoiler:Rolo]] during the timeline Mordred is from, which is [[spoiler:one of the catalysts that set Lelouch off in canon]].
** Monica's [[spoiler:Angel name]] is Florence, like her Knightmare Frame in the manga.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tropes N to Z]]
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: It is ''clear'' that Kalina can't hold a candle to Ushiora and Ushiora makes it known.
* NoodleIncident: Something happened with Nonette and a steamroller that Lelouch referred to as a horror story.
** Also whatever happened on the X783 trip to Fighting Spirit.
** Also, apparently something happened with [[PersonOfMassDestruction Natsu]], golf and go-karts that he was worried the council found out about.
** According to Cornelia and Kallen, the days CC served as advisor were dark days. Lelouch takes their word for it.
** Legretta is not allowed anymore strawberry sunrises.
* NoSell: Mage Hunter Werewolves have anti-magic fur so they completely negate caster magic used on them. The same cannot be said for holder magic as Cornelia is all too quick to point out. However, [[spoiler:The werewolves just then NoSell the holder magic for reasons yet to be explained, but are terrifying enough as it is that they're no selling attacks from Erza Scarlet and Cornelia]].
** Characters will sometimes do this to their opponents in combat against certain magic attacks either by deflecting or shielding against them.
* ObliviouslyEvil: [[TinyTyrannicalGirl Fresa]] [[SpoiledBrat Jagoda]] didn't know the "Familiars" she was summoning weren't magical beings from another dimension, but people who were teleported from their homes, and she wasn't aware she was enslaving them, until Lelouch pointed it out.
* PayEvilUntoEvil: If you are a member of the Black Knights, you believe in this.
* ParentalAbandonment: In Kallen's, Schniezel's and Guinevere's case and maybe a few others we don't know about too.
** [[spoiler:Kallen's been subverted as her MissingMom is now part of Knightmare Frame]].
* PetTheDog: When Kinana comes staggering out of the forest with [[EyeScream her eye shot out]] from her fight with Cornelia and Natsu as Cubellios, she hoarsely says she's thirsty. Lahar is the one to give her some water even though he was bound to arrest her.
* PleasePutSomeClothesOn: Lelouch to Milly whenever her VoluntaryShapeshifting leads to a WardrobeMalfunction.
* PostHumousCharacter: Estellise Heurassein.
** Charles Vermillion.
** Subverted with [[spoiler:Atarella Kozuki]].
** Travis Fateburn[[spoiler:, Jellal and Skyler's father]]
* PowerGivesYouWings: Many mages have spells or transformations that allows them to fly. Even Lyon lampshades that now ''everyone'' can fly.
* PowerOfTheVoid: Cyax, the Void Dragon, [[spoiler:is Mordred's strongest minion and the only dragon NotBrainwashed.]]
* PrisonRape: When Jellal whose mental state in this series is trapped eight years in the past because his mind did not progress due to his brainwashing--long story--doesn't know what a prison bitch is, Cobra tells him not to drop the soap.
** When [[ShouldersOfDoom Arcadios]] and [[TopHeavyGuy Neppa]] come by Blue Pegasus' group to ask for Hibiki's aid during the Nirix arc and drag him away without explanation, Eve misreads the situation and tells Hibiki not to drop the soap at all costs. Jenny, bless her soul, realizes that Eve is [[ComicallyMissingThePoint way off the mark]].
** Done again in a later chapter of that same arc when Hibiki asks Orochi if he has any idea what they do to [[PrettyBoy guys like him]] in prison.
** Mentioned once more in the Cracked Gemstone arc when Audrey Belladonna sells out her cellmate for cigarettes, and the [[SeenItAll Warden]] tells one of her subordinates to find her following the raping sounds.
* PromotedToParent: Naoto after the death of his and Kallen’s mother and their father abandoned them.
* OddFriendship: Knightmare Frame and Fairy Tail are, on some belief systems, as different as night and day, but the protective way they treat their nakama is why they are on such good terms.
* OfficialCouple: In order of being cemented in the fanfic, we have: [[spoiler:Jellal and Kagura, Lelouch and Erza, Gray and Juvia, Hisui and Hibiki, Lyon and Sherry, Isamu and Chandra, Skyler and Pyrrha, Laxus and Mirajane, Suzaku and Minerva, Sting and Yukino, Kent and Inoue and Shirley and ''Max'' of all people]].
* OurWerewolvesAreDifferent: The entirety of the Unistrad arc.
* ReplacementGoldfish: A literal example in chapter 8. Lelouch goes out to buy his sister a new goldfish before she realizes her old one had gone and done the surface belly flop.
* RunningGag: If an Exceed is in Suzaku's presence, [[MythologyGag chances are]] [[AnimalsHateHim it will bite him]].
* SailorEarth: This is a Fairy Tail fanfic, something like this was inevitable. New guilds have sprouted up, including the Anime/CodeGeass guild Knightmare Frame, but all OriginalCharacter examples such as Frozen Jaguar and Revenant's Tomb are known to exist. Phoenix Grave is actually a case of AscendedExtra and OCStandIn since the guild [[ShownTheirWork does exist]] in canon with a character that has the same surname as Sabertooth's Minerva, but nothing is known about them beyond that.
* ScreamsLikeALittleGirl: Hibiki is mentioned to scream very girly. ''Laxus'' of all people screamed that way when he was [[MegatonPunch punched]] by Chandra. Natsu lampshades it.
* SerialEscalation: The battles on the final day of the Grand Magic Games are set up to be this and succeed in this regard.
** With a [[ToughActToFollow few]] [[BreatherEpisode exceptions]] each arc itself tries to be this in scale and stakes.
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: [[spoiler:In chapter 217 Kagura, Kyle, Elizabeth, Xingke, Tianzi, Rakshata, and Sorano go against orders and side with Fairy Tail and Knightmare Frame.]]
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Tiberius’ reaction when he sees Kallen with Lelouch.
** Platinum tries this too during the Cracked Gemstone arc, but that goes south ''very fast''.
* SelfDeprecation: Alex Goldrose remarks that having [[VainSorceress Guinevere]] and [[MsFanservice Jenny]] duke it out in the Grand Magic Games was clearly motivated by someone thinking with their genitalia. Harmless at first until you realize this is the creator's AuthorAvatar talking, meaning the author fully acknowledges that what is being said is more than likely true.
* SingleStrokeBattle: Asura Vs Kagura ends this way both times.
* SleepCute: Natsu, Lisanna, and Happy in chapter 65. Erza even notes that if she had a blanket she would've covered them with one.
* ShaggyDogStory: The Cracked Gemstone arc ends this way. [[spoiler:Although Lelouch stopped Cracked Gemstone's plan, the person he needed to find, [[MissingMom Farah Dreyar]], dies of a heart attack before he's able to ask her anything, rendering the whole mission basically pointless]].
* ShipSinking: Heavy fire has been on the Lelouch/[[spoiler:Kallen]] pairing since [[spoiler:Erza got back from Tenrou Island]] and was torpedoed in chapter 161 when [[spoiler:Kallen realizes that she'll never have Lelouch at her side]]. Of course considering that Lelouch and [[spoiler:Erza]] are dating, this holds true for all other Lelouch pairings while they're still a couple.
** [[spoiler:Suzaku]] had his chances with [[spoiler:Euphemia]] firmly slammed in his face in chapter 167 and [[spoiler:Jace's]] chances with [[spoiler:Chandra]] died the moment she decided to [[spoiler:shack it up with Isamu]].
* ShipTease:
** Because Lucy gets enough of this trope with Natsu in canon, the author actually [[MissedTheCall wrote her out of the Edolas arc]] to give Lisanna a fair shake. Apparently he's fond of both ships and he's trying for a balance.
** Lately Kallen and [[AscendedExtra Lahar]] are in each other's company often enough. Hmmm...
** Despite the aforementioned LoveTriangle, [[spoiler:with Yukino and Minerva]], it's very telling when the former gets BlownAcrossTheRoom and [[spoiler:Suzaku]] doesn't even flinch, but the latter gets almost killed and he rushes to make sure she's okay.
** Some fans are noticing the decisive ''lack'' of Natsu and Lucy shipping in recent chapters compared to Natsu and Lisanna, but the author is insistent that Lucy will get her moments soon enough.
* ShownTheirWork: In chapter 107, there is mention of Minerva having a brother, Mace. This might actually be true considering a minor character listed as being part of another guild, Phoenix Grave, as a "mage you would like to have as your boyfriend" in Sorcerer Weekly in canon.
* SilverFox: While they're only middle-aged, Selina, Chandra, Undine, Alice and Alysha are still considered total bombshells.
* SingleStrokeBattle: Alice and Atarella's battle in the guild war arc ends this way. [[spoiler:It's a tie though as both women collapse on the ground unconscious after a short period of time]].
* SkinnyDipping: The girls of Mermaid Heel do this once after hearing [[AFatherToHisMen Undine's]] DarkAndTroubledPast as a way of showing her solidarity. It was prompted by [[ReluctantFanserviceGirl Kagura]] of all people.
* SlaveryIsASpecialKindOfEvil: Lelouch holds utter contempt for slavers, and believes no decent human being would choose this line of work for noble intentions.
* SneezeCut: Happens on occasion when a character is talking about someone. One example is Carine mentioning that with Erza Scarlett gone, Guinevere is the most graceful female mage in Fiore. Cue to [[LadyOfWar Kagura]] sneezing in a ladylike way.
* SpitTake: Danielle and Tamara cause this of Kagura when the former reveals that Fairy Tail has come back and Erza will be competing in the Grand Magic Games.
* StrangeMindsThinkAlike: Alice and Millianna have [[ImTakingHimHomeWithMe identical reactions]] to Nunnally and Arthur respectively within paragraphs of each other.
* StressVomit: Poor Yukino throws up in front of Suzaku when she thinks he will be unable to help her concerning Jiemma.
* TakeAThirdOption: When given the choice to ally vampires or werwolves in the Unistrad arc, Natsu tells the vampire prince that he and the others choose to remain human and will remain the enemies of both clans.
* TakeThat: Shirley’s backstory seems to be a pot shot at religion and/or the Catholic Church. [[WriterOnBoard Considering the writer is an atheist...]]
** Considering this is the same writer that brought us ''Fanfic/SoulChess'' it's very telling that Jellal mocks Yhwach and Zangetsu [[spoiler:for being the same person]]. It's a roundabout way, but the message is clear.
** Skyler says to Pyrrha during chapter 188 "For my sake, please don't die a pointless death". It seems ''someone'' is still bitter about how WebAnimation/{{RWBY}} volume 3 ended.
*** The Cracked Gemstone arc is one huge TakeThat to volume 3 of WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}. Bitter indeed.
** Subtle, but still noticeable is the scene where [[spoiler:Rolo is killed in the Mordred timeline]]. Considering [[spoiler:Shirley's death in Anime/CodeGeass canon]] is on the author's saddest moments list in fiction, and Rolo is on his most hated characters list, you can tell that this was therapeutic revenge.
* TakingTheBullet: [[spoiler: Estellise does this for Cornelia with tragic results]].
* TakingYouWithMe: Morianna tries this on Erza after Erza [[ThouShallNotKill refuses to kill her]]. [[spoiler:Erza is forced to kill her in self-defense]].
* TeamMom: Marianne, guildmaster of Knightmare Frame and woe behold to anyone who [[TooDumbToLive makes the mistake]] of so much as [[MamaBear looking at her guild wrong]].
** Undine, the leader of Mermaid Heel acts like the captain of a ship to her crew.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Suzaku and Lelouch [[{{Understatement}} don't like each other much]] after [[spoiler:Marianne's execution and Suzaku's exile from Knightmare Frame]], but the two are willing to set aside their differences for the moment if it means not letting V.V. get what he wants. [[spoiler:Unless the council dictates otherwise, it would seem]].
* TemptingFate: Done twice in chapter 41 regarding how much damage the werewolves of Unistrad can take without getting up again. And ''somehow'' they have the resilience to walk through ''FIRE!''
** Done to the point that ''even the author'' knew he was being a bit heavy handed in Cornelia saying she wanted to win against Oracion Seis with no casualties.
** Done to a [[NightmareFuel terrifying]] and [[TearJerker tragic]] degree in chapter 73. Bisca's remark that the job "cannot fail with Natsu leading the group" becomes this trope when [[spoiler:Their client is killed by Zero right in front of Natsu and there is nothing he can do about it]].
** In chapter 158, Gray remarks that Natsu is doing surprisingly well during the Hidden event and that 7th place isn't terrible. And then remarks "well at least we aren't in last place" and then Natsu winds up doing exactly that
*** Later that same chapter, Natsu himself seems pretty cocksure that Sindel is going to win against Alice. In fact, he may even well be an AudienceSurrogate in that regard considering how well she's been received by the fans.
** END does this in chapter 259, saying that he hopes Ester's misbehavior is the worst thing he has to deal with that day. [[spoiler:Then he finds out about who died...]].
* TennisBoss: Lampshaded by Roxanne during a portion of her fight with Mirajane where they're bouncing a gigantic energy blast back and forth at each other.
* TheirFirstTime: [[spoiler:Erza and Lelouch have sex for the very first time in chapter 170]].
** [[spoiler:Kagura and Jellal have theirs in chapter 237.]]
* ThereIsOnlyOneBed: Lelouch and Erza do a variant of this with a hammock, though initially the trope doesn't come into play because Erza chooses to keep an eye on Lelouch while he sleeps. Lelouch, being a gentleman, refuses to let Erza sleep on the ground. Solution? Erza throws Lelouch onto the hammock and cuddles up with him for the night.
** See BedmateReveal above. Juvia even quotes the trope verbatim.
* ThouShallNotKill: The whole story seems to deconstruct this trope and its usage in the Fairy Tail universe. Given one of the main characters is [[PayEvilUntoEvil Lelouch]] this debate in ethics is understandable.
* TitleDrop: Twice in chapter 75.
** Chapter 76's title is "A Fairy Without Its Wings"
* ToBeLawfulOrGood: In chapter 213, the most important guilds in Fiore are forced to choose [[spoiler:after the council, controlled by V.V., asks them to arrest Fairy Tail and Knightmare Frame. Suzaku and Sabertooth comply with the order, despite its members' doubts and feelings. Even though Suzaku knows something's wrong, he doesn't have any proof. Lamia Scale chooses to remain neutral but are willing to listen Knightmare Frame's side of the story. Kraken's Eye agrees to help, but promises to turn on the council if they feel there's foul play. Serpent's Heart immediately goes rogue to help Fairy Tail. Mermaid Heel sides with the council since Undine doesn't want to risk her girls' reputations. Fighting Spirit chooses to go rogue despite knowing the consequences. Since Phoenix Grave is the only guild that's aware of the council's true state, they side with the council, but will act once they have evidence of V.V.'s guilt.]]
* TragicDream: Cornelia and Estellise's promise with each other.
* TrainingFromHell: The Return of Fairy Tail arc has the members of the two teams each undergoing some variant of this:
** Laxus is training with Nessa [[spoiler:his mother]].
** Gray is training atop a frozen mountaintop that is colder than any training he did with Ur. Erza is training with [[spoiler:Marianne's armors]].
** Natsu is training with Fighting Spirit and getting the snot pounded out of him day in and day out.
** Gajeel is now working on mastering [[spoiler:His new Heavy Metal form]].
** This trope is taken to a literal example with Mirajane who decides to train in the demonic realm.
** For Bisca this trope gets inverted as while it ''is'' hell, the hell is not for her, it's for the poor saps [[ButtMonkey (notably Macao and Wakaba)]] that are forced to endure her using them as target practice. As Mest put it best, Bisca has basically become Erza with guns.
* TrueCompanions: Besides the canon ones, surprisingly the Garou Knights are also this. [[spoiler:They're rather pained at Uosuke's death.]]
* TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth: [[spoiler: Cornelia's sister Estellise]].
* TookALevelInBadass: Oracion Seis compared to their canon counterparts. The author even uses the phrase StrongAsTheyNeedToBe to describe them.
** Sabertooth thanks to [[spoiler:Jiemma being uprooted from the guild and Suzaku replacing him, giving Sabertooth more of a reason to push themselves due to Suzaku's code of ethics]].
* {{Understatement}}: Kalina saying that "adults are complicated" just as a general statement. Probably an understatement of understatements.
* UnholyMatrimony: Kasumi's mother is a succubus while her father is the former guildmaster. Kalina’s father [[spoiler:is the king of all demons]].
* VigilanteMan: Zero
* VillainEpisode: Chapter 247 ''Welcome to the Gates of Hell'' focuses solely on the new antagonists of the arc, Tartaros, and has nary a protagonist in sight.
* WeDoTheImpossible: This is Fighting Spirit's ''way of life''.
* TheWorfEffect: At the end of chapter 46, [[spoiler:Wendy, Suzaku, Cornelia, Jeremiah, Gray and Juvia have all been defeated by Withengar off screen]].
* WhamEpisode: Given this is [[TrollingCreator draconichero]] we knew this had to happen eventually. Remember that trip Anya and Gino went on? Well it [[CallBack gets brought up again]] at the end of chapter 26 and guess what they found? [[spoiler:Wendy Marvell who will now be joining Knightmare Frame as opposed to Fairy Tail. Considering how major of a role she plays in canon, this is kind of a big deal]].
** It happened again. Chapter 41: [[spoiler:Mirajane is brainwashed and crazy]].
** Everyone wondered what Edolas Lelouch was going to be like when he wasn't encountered at Edolas Knightmare Frame. No one suspected that he was [[spoiler:a WheelchairWoobie]].
** Chapter 66: Dark Blade turns out to be [[spoiler:[[SamusIsAGirl Edolas Nunnally]]]]
** Chapter 74: [[spoiler:Marianne gets arrested by taking the blame for Lelouch as Zero and it turns out that she's known that he's Zero the whole time. We also get our first introduction to Morrigan Ley Fair, Zeref's sister, albeit all we see are her OccultBlueEyes]].
** The Sindel arc could probably just count as an entire Wham Arc. We have:
*** [[spoiler: Jellal's mother Margaret. What? She's ''evil''? What? She ''sold'' Jellal into slavery, deliberately even? [[RuleOfThree What?]] Jellal was an accident [[ChildByRape caused by her rape]], ''[[ConceiveAndKill of which she is not the victim?]]'' Jesus, lady. What is wrong with you?]]
*** [[spoiler:The "great evil" mentioned at the beginning of the arc turns out not only to be the arc's titular character, but also the very mage that not only founded Airy's guild, but also former Fairy Tail and the first thing she does is beat down ''Gildarts!''. And then the very next chapter her origin story turns her from an unholy terror into simply a sympathetic villain]].
*** [[spoiler:And then last but certainly not least you have Morianna Feathermane who turns out to have Erza's parents' blood on her hands]].
** Chapter 100 has an unsettling implied reveal [[spoiler:Zeref is under the influence of Morrigan's geass]].
** Chapter 103 has the first appearance ever of Morrigan Ley Fair [[spoiler:Zeref's older sister. She is also clearly [[KnightTemplar not]] [[AmbiguouslyEvil as]] [[GoodIsNotNice nice]] as originally fathomed]].
** Chapter 106 has us meet [[spoiler:Alysha Fateburn, widow to Travis Fateburn, Jellal's father and in the same scene we find out that Kallen is a half-Etherious. Alysha is also one of the Brides of Zeref, a concept that hasn't been brought up since the Theater arc]].
** Chapter 147 was already awesome given [[spoiler:Lelouch and Erza share their first kiss and decide to go steady]], but then it shakes up the status quo in a way that doesn't become this trope until the logistics sink in. Draconic Hero writes so close to TheStationsOfTheCanon that he only goes away from them when it suits the plot and not because he thinks his way is better than Mashima. Many readers definitely expected Fairy Tail's Fourth Guildmaster [[spoiler:Bisca]] to relinquish control to Makarov after he failed to make Gildarts Fairy Tail's 5th guild master. Except that's not what happens. Not ''only'' does Gildarts take the position he's offered, but Makarov ''actually retires''. On top of that, this is ''only'' accepted by Gildarts on the condition that Makarov will coach the sixth guild master, who Gildarts believes is far more qualified to command Fairy Tail than himself: [[spoiler:Erza]].
** Not to be outdone by previous examples, we have chapter 182: [[spoiler:where we get the reveal that Alice is Natsu's older sister and raised him until he was old enough for Igneel to take care of him on his own. She even ''named'' him]].
** When the Guild War arc was announced, a lot of fans were unsure how draconichero was going to get the various guilds involved in a massive conflict. Chapter 210 not only reveals the method, but blindsided a lot of fans: [[spoiler:Fairy Tail and Knightmare Frame are now blacklisted so any further guild activity they take will cause them to become dark guilds. The weight of this is because while this was constantly an overarching threat in canon, ''it actually happened in this story'']].
** Chapter 248 is one of these for most of the chapter. [[spoiler:Minerva and Sorano get taken out offscreen with absolutely BRUTAL injuries. Yukino, Sting and Rogue show later exactly how that went down against characters clearly inferior to the tiers Sting and Rogue fought during the Tartaros arc in Fairy Tail's canon. And after that, Fighting Spirit gets completely wrecked by Tartaros to the point of TotalPartyKill. And then CC shows up and it's revealed that she isn't just ''related'' to Morrigan. She ''is'' Morrigan]].
** Chapter 251 may just top all of these: [[spoiler:Fairy Tail loses a major fight. And not even against Tartaros' best like the Five Demon Dragons. The Zombie Squad utterly ''mopped the floor with them''. The author called the chapter a harsh slap to the face.]] [[{{Understatement}} He's not wrong]]!
** When fans learned that Roxanne would be fighting all of Fairy Tail a second time, fans were already calling Natsu showing up and kicking her ass. [[spoiler:That...didn't happen. Not only does Natsu ''never'' show up, but Roxanne mops the floor with every member, even a newly powered up Mirajane. Many reviews to chapter 258 completely ignore Mira's power up in favor of Roxanne's utter wreckage of the guild]].
** While this example has left [[UnpleasableFanbase very unhappy fans]], [[spoiler:Minerva's death]] in chapter 260 is one no one saw coming.
* WhamLine: Us being told that Morrigan Ley Fair is [[spoiler:Zeref's sister]] is some pretty trippy stuff. Even in-universe the reveal is treated this way.
** In-universe, hearing Lelouch's name called rattled both Erza Knightwalker and Dark Blade.
** During the Tenrou Island arc [[spoiler:Sindel gets some of her power back. For some this might appear to be a bad thing, given who she used to be, but then she tells Rustyrose "You will pay for hurting my friends", cementing CharacterDevelopment and making it that her subsequent acquisition of Fairy Glitter is unsurprising and completely awesome]].
** Unless you're slow, you should see it coming when Nessa and Ivan are talking about their past history, but Nessa’s outraged shout of [[spoiler:Laxus is ''my'' son!]] probably made you stare at your computer screen for a few seconds.
** During the Yawgmoth Island arc, Mirdir, the Labyrinth Guardian refers to Lamia Scale's client Ayaka as Atarella. [[spoiler:As in Kallen's MissingMom Atarella]].
** It's delivered so casually that most people probably miss it, but Alice mentioning the fact that [[spoiler:she knows Igneel and was told something by him]] isn't exactly something to pan as your everyday statement made, especially after all the talk about Natsu's history in the Return of Fairy Tail arc.
** From Alice to Natsu at the end of their battle in chapter 180: "you've become so strong...[[spoiler:little brother]]"
** This line directed at CC: [[spoiler:"Answer me, Lady Morrigan!]].
* WholePlotReference: Chapter 90 is this to, of all things, VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys
** To a lesser degree, the Cracked Gemstone arc is both this and a TakeThat to Volume 3 of WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}
* WhosOnFirst: Done by a character mistaking the name Yu for the word you.
* WhereWereYouLastNight: Natsu accuses Keiga Dokura of the seeming lack of action of the Rune Knights against Oracion Seis and Grimoire Heart despite their strength. Keiga defends that the Rune Knights are busy dealing with threats outside of Fiore and that they cannot be everywhere at once.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: The effects of Mass Hysteria seem to have quite the adverse effect of this on [[spoiler:Wendy and ''especially'' [[SuperpoweredEvilSide Kallen]]]].
* WorldsMostBeautifulWoman: No stated number one in series by WordOfGod. But the author did do a list of five most beautiful canon characters, (Code Geass and Fairy Tail) and non-canon, (Expies or oringinal). the list follows for canon in no particular order (Kagura, Erza, Kallen, Cornelia and Kyouka). The OC goes as folows (Airy, Enna Elsa, Kasumi, Ryumia, and Leaf). As a side note the author had to specifically exclude Selina because of author bias.
** [[spoiler: With the intro of Enna Elsa in chapter 208, it might be safe to say she stands above all the other woomen in the series. Just her walking into Fairy Tail caused all the men to start drooling, even [[TheStoic Laxus and Gajeel]], but most surprisingly of all causing [[ChasteHero Natsu]] to have to [[IllBeInMyBunk go to the bathroom and take care of business]] for the first time in his life. Though the [[WordOfGod author]] did state that Elsa curse involved making people find her attractive so it might just be that.]]
* WrittenByTheWinners: History books say Morrigan ley Fair is Ishgar's protector goddess, and Zeref's the dreaded Dark Wizard. The truth is a lot more complicated than that.
* YouShallNotPass: Said word for word and played straight by Selina's minions Uma and Oushi[[spoiler:,while staring down resident [[TheDragon dragon]] to Hades [[GravityMaster Bluenote Stinger]] because of Selina's potential betrayal]].
** Attempted by Ash until Kallen [[spoiler:figures out that he's her long lost brother Naoto]].
