A crossover between ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' and ''ComicBook/TheMightyThor'', written by Koolerkid.

It's Big Macintosh's birthday! As he goes for a hike, an [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E6BoastBusters Ursa Minor]] chases him into a cave, trapping him there. Inside, he finds a stick and transforms into [[ComicBook/TheMightyThor The Mighty Thor]]!

It eventually expands into a full-blown [[ComicBook/TheAvengers Avengers]] story, with [[ComicBook/CaptainAmerica Captain Equestria]], [[ComicBook/IronMan Iron Pony]] and Firebird as they face off against Loki and his apprentice, Trixie!

It can be found [[http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/10/story-my-little-avengers.html here]] and [[http://www.fimfiction.net/story/15715/My-Little-Avengers here]].

----
!!The Fanfic contains examples of:

* TenMinuteRetirement: [[spoiler: Big Mac after he's drained of Thor's power. Gets a RousingSpeech from Creator/StanLee and goes back to fight.]]
* AdaptationalVillainy: Ghost Flyer, compared to ComicBook/GhostRider. The author has admitted this was to give Firebird a fitting opponent although that he's open to the idea that Ghost Flyer was being sub-lent from Mephisto, instead of being one of Loki's creations.
* AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs: Loki briefly sets up shop in the Avengers mansion for his confrontation with Thor at the conclusion of his plan (see DarkestHour below), before moving on and occupying the royal palace.
* AnswersToTheNameOfGod: This exchange when Big Mac reveals himself as Thor to Applejack:
-->'''Applejack''': Holy Celestia!
-->'''Thor''': Not quite.
* ArchEnemy: Thor and Loki, as per the comic canon.
** Oddly subverted, however, with Trixie and Twilight Sparkle -- Trixie describes Twilight as her "nemesis" at one point, but after that it's never mentioned again. Heck, the two don't even interact at all in the story (aided greatly by Twilight barely even being in the story).
** Also subverted with the Dark Avengers; they each apparently view themselves as the archenemies of their Avenger counterparts, but aside from the Thor/Loki fight, the FinalBattle doesn't involve any of the counterparts pairing off ([[OpponentSwitch which was the Avengers' plan]]).
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: Pinkie steals Mjolnir from Big Mac in order to get him alone and talk to him about it. Afterwards, she apologizes for it:
-->"I'm sorry I followed you home and broke into your house and stole your stuff and ate the last of your pancakes-"
** And then she does it again when she breaks into Spitfire's apartment to talk with her:
-->"Sorry about sneaking into your room and waking you up and scaring you and eating your last pie..."
* TheBadGuyWins: [[spoiler: Sure, he dies, but Loki's plan to create a world ruled by magic will be completed upon his death.]]
* BastardUnderstudy: [[spoiler: When it seems as though the villains have won, Trixie tries to betray Loki. Unfortunately for her, he was prepared for that.]]
* BecauseDestinySaysSo: The Red Skull believes that some people (namely him) are naturally superior, and that it is their destiny to rule over others. During their fight, Iron Pony basically tells him to [[ScrewDestiny take that theory and shove it]].
* BerserkButton: As Fin Fang Foom found out the hard way, you do ''not'' threaten Big Mac's family.
* BigBad: Loki the Magnificent
* BigDamnHeroes: Fittingly, Thor gets one early on, when he saves Rainbow Dash from the Wrecker, just as the latter is about to kill her.
-->"I SAY THEE NAY!"
* BookEnds: The story begins and ends on Big Mac's birthday.
* BreakThemByTalking: Each of the Dark Avengers do this to their good counterparts during their first confrontation. They try again during the rematch, but [[ShutUpHannibal none of the Avengers take it this time]].
* TheBrute: The Wrecker and the Juggernaut.
** One could probably also add Fin Fang Foom to this list as well.
* CainAndAbel: Loki and Thor, of course.
* TheCameo: [[spoiler: Creator/StanLee]], of all people, gets one as a pony version of himself.
* ChekhovsGun: At first, it seems the reveal that [[spoiler: Loki is Pinkie's many-times-great grandfather]] is just a convenient way for Pinkie to [[MrExposition know everything about Thor]]. Then it turns out that [[spoiler: that blood link has been allowing Loki to spy on Thor's every move]].
* TheChessmaster: It turns out Loki (who actually makes a chess metaphor at one point) manipulated pretty much everything in the story up until the climax to insure his victory [[spoiler: and it temporarily works]]. Big Mac managing to outsmart him just prior to the FinalBattle actually contributes to his VillainousBreakdown.
* CompositeCharacter: Fin Fang Foom is also the World Serpent here.
** Possibly a ShoutOut to a story when Thor was "immortal" but very weak and confronted Fin Fang Foom only to find out it was Jormagandr in disguise.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: Obsidian Shade was apparently this even before he became the Iron Monger.
* CrossoverFic:
* CurbStompBattle: Thor against The Wrecker.
** Both Avengers vs Dark Avengers fights -- the first was this for the bad guys, the second was for the heroes.
* DarkestHour: Chapter 14 -- [[spoiler: Loki's Dark Avengers have defeated the Avengers, and a threat on Pinkie's life gets Big Mac to surrender Mjolnir and Thor's power; Loki then perverts ThePowerOfFriendship in order to steal the other Avengers' powers, leaving him unopposed to take over Equestria]]. Fortunately, the chapter ends with the below mentioned RousingSpeech, giving things a glimmer of hope, and by the next chapter things are already getting better.
* DemotedToExtra / OutOfFocus: The Mane Six, despite being the heroes in canon -- having saved the world themselves ''twice'' -- have almost nothing to do with the plot here. Pinkie and Rarity are secondary characters at best, only due to their relationships with two of the main characters; Applejack shows up even less, despite being the main character's ''sister''; Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle only show up in a handful of scenes; and poor Fluttershy only shows up in ''one'' scene and doesn't even have any lines!
* {{Determinator}}: Much like his comic book counterpart, Caramel is this even ''before'' he becomes Captain Equestria (and is actually the main reason he was chosen for the project). This shines through the most during his fight with the Ghost Flyer, where he overcomes the [[MindRape Penance Stare]] through [[HeroicResolve sheer willpower]].
* TheDragon: Trixie is Loki's only real servant for awhile, and even after the Dark Avengers show up, she's still his most powerful minion.
** DragonAscendant: [[spoiler: After Loki's defeat, the last scene shows Trixie effectively becoming the MLP version of Doctor Doom and swearing revenge.]]
* EnemyToAllLivingThings: The Red Skull.
* EpiphanyTherapy: Near the end, Big Mac fully comes into his role when he realizes that [[spoiler:he and Thor were never truly separate beings. One of the benefits of this, besides peace of mind, is that Big Mac can turn into "Thor" without holding onto Mjolnir.]]
* EvilSoundsDeep: Implied with the Ghost Flyer -- all of his dialogue is capitalized, and the first letter of each sentence is also in bold.
* FireForgedFriends: Played with with the Avengers. Despite an initial fight brought on by a misunderstanding, they all get along pretty well -- but it's working as a ''team'' where they have trouble. It isn't until the fight with the Juggernaut that they learn to work together. After that, they're TrueCompanions.
* ForTheEvulz: Seems to be the Red Skull's primary motivation. While the other villains are after power and/or revenge, the only reason he gives for his actions is his belief in his natural superiority, but even that across as a pretty weak excuse.
** There's also Gilda when she becomes the Juggernaut, but she was being manipulated (and possibly indirectly controlled) by Trixie and Loki, so she may not really count.
* FunSize: [[spoiler: Celestia gets shrunk down to a filly after Loki attacks her and drains a good portion of her power.]]
* GodOfEvil: Loki, of course.
* {{Gotterdammerung}}: A critical part of the backstory -- Loki's attempt to overthrow Odin and take control of Asgard led to its destruction and the death of all the old gods (excluding Loki himself), the magic released from this creating Celestia and Luna in the process.
* GreenThumb: Caramel gains this ability in addition to super strength when he becomes Captain Equestria, due to his natural Earth pony abilities being amplified.
%%* HamToHamCombat:
* HeroicBSOD: Each of the Avengers has one following the events of [[DarkestHour Chapter 14]]. It takes a talk from [[spoiler: Creator/StanLee]] to get Big Mac out of his, and he goes on to pull his friends out of theirs.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: [[spoiler: When Trixie turns on Loki, he defeats her by turning her own magic back on her. She doesn't die, but is left horribly scarred.]]
** Loki himself is defeated this way [[spoiler: when Big Mac/Thor reflects his own Soul Seal spell back at him, killing him.]]
* IJustWantToBeNormal: Big Mac, for most of the story, until he finally embraces his powers. [[spoiler: Which contributes to his HeroicBSOD when Loki steals said powers.]]
* ISurrenderSuckers: Loki pulls this during the FinalBattle. [[spoiler: It gets him killed.]]
* KickTheDog: As if them threatening to [[spoiler: kill Pinkie]] in order to get Thor to surrender didn't already qualify, the fact that Loki and Trixie threaten to do it ''slowly'' certainly does, if not verging on MoralEventHorizon.
* KirkSummation: Thor has this to say to Loki when Loki accuses him of defying him:
-->"THOU ART THE ONE WHO KILLED THE GODS THEMSELVES! THOU DESTROYED OUR HOME AND OUR FAMILY! THOU HAST CAPTURED THE SOVEREIGNS OF THIS LAND, USURPED THEIR POWER, AND THREATENED ITS INHABITANTS, AND YOU DARE ACCUSE ME OF DEFIANCE?”
* LampshadeHanging: Several characters point out how much this situation is like something out of a comic book.
* LargeHam: Thor, Loki, Trixie ''and'' Luna all in one fanfic? The author included a warning tag, but with that character gallery, it shouldn't have been necessary.
* ManipulativeBastard: Loki. And arguably Trixie, but she was just doing what Loki told her, rather than manipulating people herself.
* MassSuperEmpoweringEvent: The destruction of Asgard ages ago is apparently what gave ponies the magic they have in canon and created Luna and Celestia. There's a second one early on when Celestia is attacked and forced to release her magic, giving random superpowers to those nearby.[[spoiler: And a third when Loki is finally defeated. According to Loki the combination of all three will ensure that everypony (and every other speices) will be mutants within a few generations.]]
* MindRape: The Ghost Flyer's Penance Stare.
* MoreThanMindControl: Something else the Wrecker and the Juggernaut have in common -- they're both granted their powers by Loki (via Trixie) and do what they want with them, but are guided by a subliminal hatred of Thor (and the Avengers as a whole, in the Juggernaut's case).
* [[MrExposition Ms. Exposition]]: Pinkie is the one who explains the origins of Thor's powers and rivalry with Loki to Big Mac. As it turns out, she knows all this because she's [[spoiler: Loki's many-times-great granddaughter]].
* MythologyGag: During the epilogue, Twilight [[spoiler: (now the [[Comicbook/DoctorStrange Sorcerer Supreme]])]] is shown sealing away the demon Tirak, the antagonist from the G1 movie "Rescue at Midnight Castle".
** Big Mac's first words to Loki as Thor in the FinalBattle are a reference to a [[Awesome/TheAvengers famous]] BigDamnHeroes moment the comic Thor and Avengers had against Ultron (which has become an on-and-off catchphrase for comic!Thor).
-->"'''Loki! I would have words with thee!'''"
* NearVillainVictory: [[spoiler: Loki succeeds in defeating the Avengers, stealing Thor's power, and usurping the throne of Equestria. In the end, he is only narrowly defeated by a last desperate plan the Avengers put together.]]
* NoFourthWall: Pinkie naturally. [[spoiler: Does it offscreen to bring in Creator/StanLee as a pony!]] It's a nice little tribute.
* OddFriendship: Big Mac and Pinkie strike one up, based on Pinkie being [[MrExposition Ms. Exposition]]. It gets to the point that Applejack assumes they're dating (to their amusement).
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: You ''know'' Rainbow Dash has become a Thor fangirl when she's so excited about attending a party in his honor that she ''forgets the Wonderbolts are going to be there too''. Pinkie and Big Mac are left rather stunned.
%%* OpponentSwitch: How the Avengers beat the Dark Avengers in their rematch during the FinalBattle.
%%* PlayingWithFire: Firebird and the Ghost Flyer.
* PoweredArmor: The Iron Pony and Iron Monger suits (though the latter is closer to a MiniMecha).
* PowerCrystal: Literally used to save Blueblood's life, in keeping with him being the Iron Pony.
%%* SuperFic
* ThePowerOfFriendship: It turns out this is an actual magic in Equestria. [[spoiler: Loki perverts it to drain the Avengers of their abilities, and Big Mac uses it to restore them (except Caramel's, which is restored by the [[ThePowerOfLove power of Spitfire's love for him]]).]]
* ThePsychoRangers: The Dark Avengers were specifically chosen as {{Evil Counterpart}}s to the Avengers, each having similar powers to their opponents.
* PublicDomainArtifact: {{Mjolnir}}, of course. Odin's spear Gungnir shows up later in the story [[spoiler: in Trixie's possession.]]
* PunctuatedForEmphasis: How Caramel/[[ComicBook/CaptainAmerica Captain Equestria]] tops his ShutUpHannibal to [[Comicbook/GhostRider Ghost Flyer]]:
-->'''''AND YOU! ARE UNDER! ARREST!'''''
%%* QuirkyMinibossSquad: The Dark Avengers.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Fin Fang Foom gives one to Big Mac, telling him that he's just a cheap imitation of the real Thor, and not worthy of his power.
** The Dark Avengers each incorporate these into their {{Breaking Lecture}}s during their first fight with the Avengers. They try again during the rematch, but the Avengers don't fall for it again.
%%* RedemptionQuest: Blueblood's story is essentially one of these.
* {{Revenge}}: The primary motivator for many of the villains -- Trixie seems to want revenge on the world in general for not giving her the praise she thinks she deserves, the Ghost Flyer and Iron Monger want revenge against Spitfire and Blueblood (respectively) for perceived slights, and even the Wrecker's brief career is based on revenge against Rainbow Dash for upstaging him.
* RousingSpeech: Big Mac gets one from a ponified [[spoiler: Creator/StanLee]], of all people, during the DarkestHour. He then proceeds to give one to each of his teammates, pulling the team back together.
* SecretTestOfCharacter: [[spoiler: Rarity, Sweetie Belle, and [[FunSize filly Celestia]] set up Blueblood with one of these by having the latter two posing as Whiplash to see if he's really changed.]]
* SequelHook: [[spoiler: The epilogue shows the ponies adjusting to the new world, and Trixie plotting her revenge.]]
* SharedUniverse: In the commentary for the epilogue, the author not only announces his attention to (eventually) write a sequel, but also welcomes anyone else to make additions to what he calls "[[IncrediblyLamePun Marevel]] Equestria" (so long as they don't use the Mane Six or Thor's team without his permission). [[http://www.fimfiction.net/story/100852/my-little-avengers-deadpool Only]] [[http://www.fimfiction.net/story/109299/my-little-avengers-the-punisher recently]] has anyone started taking him up on the offer.
* ShipTease: When the Princesses first meet Thor, Luna appears to develop a crush on him, though it never comes up again. Likewise, Celestia flirts with him, though that seems to be more to troll Luna than anything else.
* ShoutOut: When Pinkie is first explaining Thor's backstory to Big Mac, she starts by giving him the basic information with what appears to be a [[Series/DoctorWho psychic headbutt]].
** During the epilogue, when Twilight is sealing away Tirek, she does so with the "Chains of [[Fanfic/TheElementsOfHarmonyAndTheSaviorOfWorlds Mag'ne]]".
** Gilda/The Juggernaut, during her fight with the Avengers, at one point shouts, "[[Film/XMenTheLastStand I'm the Juggernaut, bitch!]]"
** At the beginning of the story, Big Mac is shown reading what appears to be a pony version of ''Literature/TheLordOfTheRings''
* SmugSnake: Loki and Trixie (the latter even moreso).
* SplitPersonalityTakeover: Big Mac spends most of the story worried that Thor will take over his mind. [[spoiler:Near the end, he realizes he was being silly when he finally accepts that there was never really another person inside him -- he may have Thor's memories and powers, but he's still Big Mac.]]
* StormingTheCastle: The FinalBattle occurs when the Avengers infiltrate Canterlot castle, which Loki's forces have occupied.
%%* TimeSkip: In the epilogue.
* TookALevelInBadass: Caramel when he becomes [[ComicBook/CaptainAmerica Captain Equestria]]!
** Big Mac, already badass as it is. Takes several levels by becoming Thor.
* TrueCompanions: The Avengers, following the fight with the Juggernaut.
* UnwittingPawn: The Wrecker and the Juggernaut, who were granted their powers by Loki simply as a way to lure Thor out of hiding (the former) and to test the newly-formed Avengers (the latter). [[spoiler: And then it turns out that Loki was stringing ''everyone'' along in order to create a scenario wherein Big Mac would willingly surrender Thor's power to Loki.]]
* VillainousBreakdown: Loki loses it in the FinalBattle thanks to the triple whammy of [[spoiler:Big Mac becoming Thor again, the Dark Avengers being defeated, and the revelation that the "Thor" he was fighting wasn't really the brother he considered a WorthyOpponent but a 'mere' farm pony tapping into Thor's power.]]
** The Dark Avengers have minor ones of their own -- the Ghost Flyer's is of the "ThisCannotBe"-inspired panic variety when Captain Equestria breaks through his Penance Stare, while the Iron Monger and the Red Skull go into blind rages following Firebird and Iron Pony's respective ShutUpHannibal.
* VisionaryVillain: At times, Loki seems to want power merely for the sake of power, but really, he has a vision of a world ruled by magic (preferably with him as ruler), and seems to think it would be for the best. [[spoiler: He therefore dies happy, knowing that his death will ensure everyone gains powers, thus creating his world of magic.]]
* WalkingWasteland: The Red Skull drains the energy from living things, so plants have a tendency to whither around him.
* WhamEpisode: Chapter 13, in which the Dark Avengers first appear and defeat the Avengers, followed by chapter 14, wherein Loki reveals his GambitRoulette [[spoiler: and forces Big Mac to surrender Thor's power]].
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue: Closes up the story, incorporating the later adventures of not only the central characters of this story but also [[spoiler:Twilight Sparkle as Sorcerer Supreme and Rainbow Dash as Quicksilver, leader of an action team featuring ponies with X-Men powers and codenames.]]
