The ''Dark Titans'' duology is a ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans2003''/''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'' crossover by Lathis. The series consists of two fics: ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2957130/1/The_Titans_and_the_Lost_Boy The Titans and the Lost Boy]]'', written from 2006-2007, and ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3462706/1/Dark_Titans Dark Titans]]'', started in 2007. It was on hiatus between 2012 and 2020 before resuming and is currently ongoing. The premise is very simple: take Jump City, insert the Nerima Wrecking Crew. Set to liquefy, serve chilled. In execution, on the other hand, it's actually a complex work.

''The Titans and the Lost Boy'' begins with H.I.V.E. taking an interest in the legends of Jusenkyo and the Titans following them out to the Bayankala Mountain Range. By sheer coincidence, the Titans cross paths with Ryouga, who demonstrates his abilities by blowing up Cinderblock and helping the team take care of H.I.V.E. After a stopover in the Amazon village to repair the T-ship, the Titans return home and Ryouga goes back to his wandering...

...only to run headlong into Brother Blood.

From there the story kicks into high gear when Blood brainwashes Ryouga and uses his knowledge to target members of the Nerima Wrecking Crew for further "recruitment", drawing the main cast of Ranma 1/2 into the action as they either unwillingly join H.I.V.E. Academy or scramble desperately to find their kidnapped friends and rivals. Meanwhile the Titans are faced with the unenviable position of being the only thing standing between Jump City and an army of brainwashed martial artists.

The story continues in ''Dark Titans'', which changes things up a bit; instead of focusing on a single chain of events, the story is split up into distinct arcs, with each arc focusing on a different group of characters following the aftermath of ''TALB'''s grand finale with bits of the others thrown in occasionally for variety.

* '''Red XX?:''' Focuses on the Titans and their newest members dealing with the theft of the Red X suit. Also lays the groundwork for the other arcs via occasional focus on other groups.
* '''Big Trouble In Little Tokyo:''' The sudden appearance of Brushogun forces Ranma to assemble his own Super Hero team to deal with an enemy he can't possibly handle on his own. This is the most famous and downright brilliant part of the story, with some LeaningOnTheFourthWall for extra flavour.
* '''This Ain't A Scene:''' Cologne matches wits with Lex Luthor, but Jinx and Happosai are in town as well...
* '''Titan Rising:''' Ryouga discovers a way to resurrect Terra, but her control issues are worse than ever and she's going to need a mentor. Meanwhile, Jinx and Happosai continue their training trip across DC America, setting their sights on Gotham City as the ideal place to test Jinx's skills.
* '''Wedding Party:''' The Titans attempt to prevent Starfire from being married off while Blackfire makes a bid for the throne, Ryouga and Terra go camping, and Speedy learns the consequences of disrespecting others.

After ''FanFic/DarkTitans'' comes ''FanFic/ReflectionsLostOnADarkRoad'', a [[MegaCrossover crossover fic]] written by [[FanFic/DarkTitans Lathis]] and [[FanFic/TheRoadToCydonia Cap'n Chryssalid]]. It is also an extremely well-written fanfic, but is initially far darker and more disturbing than what came before.

In addition to the above, ''The Titans And The Lost Boy'' is now being rewritten in the form of a webcomic with Lathis doing the story and Lavender-Ice covering artwork. The first few strips can be found [[http://ttlb.lavender-ice.com/ here]].

This series comes highly recommended by [[FanficRecs/RanmaOneHalf Ranma fans]] and [[FanficRecs/TeenTitans Titans fans]] alike.

----
!!This fic contains examples of the following:

* TwentyPercentMoreAwesome: "Yeah, dude, that was like, seventy percent as awesome as Terra's 'Stonami'! … Maybe sixty five percent."
* AccidentalAimingSkills: Played with. Daizo tried to shoot Ranma in the back to knock him off course, hoping to he wouldn't hit anything vital. He ended up hitting his shoulder.
* ACupAngst: Averted. Jinx sees this as an advantage due to the fact that Happosai leaves her alone.
* AddingInsultToInjury: A giant Godzilla like monster that heals like ComicBook/{{Wolverine}}.
* AGoodWayToDie: This was Ryoga’s first thought when being chased by beautiful jiggily Amazons he quickly came to his senses however.
* AliensAreBastards: The Psions.
* AndIMustScream: Played with during the "Titan Rising" arc. [[spoiler: When Terra first regains consciousness after being de-petrified, one of her first thoughts before she managed to open her eyes was wondering if she had somehow been turned to stone but retained her conscious mind. Of course, she actually had been turned to stone, but wasn't conscious while petrified.]]
* AndCallHimGeorge + MarshmallowHell: Starfire hugging Ryoga.
* AngstNuke: Ryouga's perfect Shishi Houkodan.
* AnimalMotifs: Played with for Ranma, Raven, Robin and Ryouga, each one just as proud and stubborn as the next.
** Jinx swears up and down she doesn't have one.
%%zce* Anti Hero: DT Ryouga, Raven, and Ranma are types II.
* ApocalypseMaiden: Raven, just like in ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans''.
* TheApprentice: Terra becomes Ryouga's [[spoiler: in order to control her significantly increased powers]].
** Jinx becomes Happosai's apprentice.
* ArtisticLicense: This is what Akane and Ryoga use in their recollection of certain events.
* TheAtoner: Terra, Ryouga
* AuraVision: Ryoga gains it mastering the Breaking Point Technique.
* BatmanGambit: Some impressive ones are pulled off in this story, though the most elaborate ones are pulled off by Cologne and Nabiki.
** Cologne inviting the Titans into the Juketsuzoku village and then announcing Raven as a threat when she discovers her demonic aura turns out to be a ploy -- [[spoiler:she'd already sensed Raven's demon aura, judged her to not be a threat, and simply made a big deal of the demonic aura in front of everyone, so that Ryouga and the Titans would stand up for her and Cologne could "make amends" by making them honored guests of the Juketsuzoku without fear of those pesky laws regarding outsiders. This again is part of a larger gambit where, through the Titans and Ryouga interacting with and befriending the villagers, Cologne could prove to the rest of the village Elders how outdated the customs of Juketsuzoku are, and how they need to change to survive.]] She later on pulls of another gambit just to [[spoiler: avoid working with Happosai.]]
** Nabiki, after being kidnapped and brainwashed by the H.I.V.E., almost immediately starts pulling strings and manipulating people, in most cases setting things up, correctly predicting their responses and planning for that. She manages to thwart Robin's escape after he's been captured by making Kasumi his guard, correctly assuming that Robin wouldn't be able to go against her super-nice sister. [[spoiler: Like Cologne, her small gambits are all part of a bigger one; in this case she's faking being brainwashed and is instead setting things up so that she and all the others can escape H.A.E.Y.P. Academy; Ranma, Ryouga and Raven can defeat the Headmaster so he won't bother them again; and Nabiki herself can obtain everything she needs to start her own team of supervillains.]]
** Lex Luthor pulls one off to [[spoiler: obtain an army of meta-martial artists.]]
** Played with, and generally subverted, with Ranma. He really likes to show off by putting together cunning and elaborate plans. Unfortunately, (for him), his "puppets," "friends" and enemies are extremely unpredictable, and so prone to reacting in ways other then what he expected that the plan usually comes crashing down.
* BattleAura: Ranma, Raven, Ryouga, Jinx, Starfire, Terra, Happosai, Brother Blood, Cologne... It might just be easier to list the characters that don't have a battle aura at some point in the story.
* BerserkButton: Unless you want to end up in a CurbStompBattle that ends with both your arms ripped off. "NOBODY TOUCHES KASUMI!"
* BigDamnHeroes: This is Ranma through and through. Not only did his appearance freak Brother Blood out, but it completely changed the tide of the battle.
* BlackMagicianGirl: Jinx and Terra.
* BlessedWithSuck: The Hiryu Shoten Ha is completely useless to Ryoga's way of fighting. while it may have worked on the DC Martial artists, if he tried anyone in the Nerima Wrecking Crew they would have destroyed him if he attempted to use it against them. However, the Soul of Ice allows Ryoga to focus his mind and not lose himself to his anger.
* BornUnlucky: Jinx. Abandoned as a child, taken in by Headmaster, raised to be a supervillain, obtained superpowers that work by injuring her (which she used so frequently that she stopped noticing the pain), causes bad luck to occur to herself and those around her, etc.
* BrainBleach: Ryoga saving a piglet. Though even that was nothing compared to the fact that the piglet actually looked back at him before finally running off.
* {{Brainwashed}}: Ryouga, Mousse, Tatewaki, Kasumi and Nabiki are all brainwashed by the Headmaster to become his students... [[spoiler:though it turns out Nabiki was faking it the whole time and was secretly setting things up for the Headmaster's defeat.]] Averted for Happosai, who's just bribed... and turns out to have just come along to see how big a trainwreck this would be anyway.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Both Ryouga and Mousse in their H.A.E.Y.P. Academy days. Ryouga is nearly out of control after the Headmaster attempts to increase his aggressiveness, and Mousse has become a furious DeathSeeker because he's been brainwashed into believing Shampoo has been killed.
* BrandishmentBluff: After overloading his sonic cannon during a fight with See More, Cyborg runs into Jinx. He then attempts to get her to surrender by threatening to shoot her with his nonfunctional weapon. [[spoiler: It backfires rather spectacularly.]]
* BrickJoke: Fairly early in ''Dark Titans'', Cyborg reveals to Ryouga that the T-Brella has a helicopter option. They then proceed to discuss the helicopter option until it drives Robin nuts. It is then never mentioned nor used again in ''Dark Titans.'' Then, in ''Reflections Lost on a Dark Road'', it's used as a rather humorous instance of a ChekhovsGun.
* CallingYourAttacks: Pretty much every member of the Nerima Wrecking Crew with a "special move" does this. Even Robin and Starfire occasionally do it.
** Later parodied by Cyborg:
-->'''Cyborg''': Sonic Cannon Blast!
* TheCameo: Brushogun draws up copies of [[Franchise/SailorMoon Sailor Saturn]], [[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion EVA-01]], [[Manga/{{Akira}} Tetsuo]], and [[Anime/DragonballZ Son Goku]] to fight Ranma and the crew for the final battle of the Tokyo arc.
* CharacterDevelopment: A number of the characters go through quite a bit of it in the fic. It's slightly more common for the Ranma characters, since the Titans characters are on the whole more well-adjusted already -- but even the Titans get a bit of development.
** The character going through the most development is Ryouga. Through his training with Cologne and friendship with the Titans he starts letting go of his self-pity and anger issues, realizing that his NeverMyFault attitude was wrong and that he couldn't blame Ranma for everything that was wrong with his life. Though he regresses a bit after being brainwashed by the Headmaster (his anger issues go through the roof and his hatred for Ranma intensifies), he's still notably more self-aware and considerate of others. After breaking free of the brainwashing he spends some time as TheAtoner, and though his characteristic depression and self-loathing isn't ''gone'' he has far more positive relationships in his life and is a much better person for it.
** Kasumi, surprisingly, goes through a bit when she realizes she has essentially put her life and dreams on hold for the sake of her family and that it's not fair to them ''or'' to herself that she has made them so dependent on her playing the homemaker. It's her desire to learn medicine and medical tech that makes her stay with the Titans instead of going back home to Nerima.
** Kunou, after his stint at H.A.E.Y.P. and having to face that for a time he was actually a villain, actually matures a bit. Partly to atone for his actions, partly because Bumblebee's heroics have inspired him to do better, and partly because he's made some actual friends along the way, he becomes ''slightly'' more humble and reasonable, better at taking no for an answer, and less inclined to attack people for petty reasons. He's still an overdramatic and arrogant buffoon, but he's far better than he was.
** Ukyou realizes that she can't waste her life pining for Ranma and, much like Kasumi, decides to focus more on what makes ''her'' happy. She ends up joining Bumblebee and Kunou at Titans East.
** It's subtle, but after the events of ''The Titans and the Lost Boy'' Shampoo and Mousse are starting to develop a slightly healthier relationship. She is a little more tolerant of him, and he's a little less inclined to put her on a pedestal.
** Jinx goes through some serious development throughout the fic, first through her relationship with Ryouga and later on through her training under Happosai.
* ChekhovsSkill: An indirect example. Early on in ''TALB'', Cologne enlists Starfire's help to teach Ryouga the [[FinishingMove Hiryu Shoten Ha]] but doesn't bother to teach him the basic steps, saying that Ryouga already knows how it's done [[ContinuityNod because he helped Ranma develop the same skill]] earlier in the main series. Sure enough, [[spoiler: Starfire winds up using the techniques she learned by training with Ryouga to perform her own Hiryu Shoten Ha before the series is over.]]
** During the Titans' stay at Juketsuzoku, Raven learns to sense her surroundings by expanding her aura over them. Later on, after Mousse [[spoiler: blinds her, she uses this ability as a temporary replacement for her sight]].
* ClapYourHandsIfYouBelieve: The source of Brushogun's massive power-up. As opposed to his canon incarnation, Brush realizes at one point that his powers are at their most potent when he copies the work of another artist because people recognize and believe in those copies, giving them much greater power than any of Brushogun's own original creations, which is also a comment about the nature of fanfiction, with common reader dislike for any original characters.
* CollapsingLair: Brother Blood activates a self-destruct mechanism in H.A.E.Y.P. after sealing everyone in the [[DeadlyTrainingArea obstacle course]] with all the safeties deactivated in an attempt to take out the Titans and the Nerima Wrecking Crew at the same time.
* CombatPragmatist:
** Mousse is already more prone to underhanded tricks than most of the characters in Ranma 1/2, but after being brainwashed by the Headmaster he becomes even more prone to fighting dirty.
** Ranma takes the chances for victory he can get. When fighting Goku (whom even he knows far outclasses him), he ''has'' to fight pragmatically in order to even have a change.
* CombatTentacles: Just one of many fun features of H.A.E.Y.P.'s [[DeadlyTrainingArea obstacle course]].
* ComplexityAddiction: Ranma seems to show shades of this. Especially considering time it took him to think of a scenario of saving himself from an explosion one of the things he thought of was stopping time.
* CompositeCharacter: Ranma seems to switch back and forth from TheAce of the manga and the BunnyEarsLawyer from the anime.
* ConservationOfNinjutsu: Billy Numerous vs Shampoo. [[CurbStompBattle No contest]].
* ControlFreak: Robin almost got himself killed in the amazon village because of this.
* CrackPairing: Jinx/Ryouga.
* CrashIntoHello + IMeantToDoThat + NighInvulnerability: How Ranma met Daizo
* CrazyPrepared: Both Ranma and Happosai have dossiers on various superheroes and -villains.
* {{Crossover}}: ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'' + ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf.'' Technically, it also includes the worlds of Franchise/{{Batman}}, Franchise/{{Superman}}, The Franchise/{{Justice League|of America}}, and at least a mention of existing manga/anime (See TheCameo).
* CrossoverCouple: Jinx/Ryouga, Raven/Ryouga, Starfire/Ryouga.
* CurbStompBattle: Ranma vs Goku in the Tokyo arc. Ranma only survives because [[spoiler: Brushogun copied Goku's character a little ''too'' well, and Goku calls off the fight as soon as he realizes Ranma isn't a bad guy.]]
* DarkActionGirl: Jinx, especially after starting to train with Happosai.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Much like in the cartoon, Raven is the perfect example of this.
* DavidVersusGoliath: All the final battles of ''Big Trouble In Little Tokyo''.
* DeadlyDodging + NonchalantDodge + ExcuseMeWhileIMultitask + WithMyHandsTied: These tropes are all closely related and all apply to Ranma. He was actually giving Raven Relationship advice over his communicator while fighting Mecha-Boi.
* DeadlyTrainingArea: The Titans and H.A.E.Y.P. Academy use dangerous obstacle courses for training.
* DeadpanSnarker: Played with when it comes to Ranma. Lathis seems to be trying very hard to fuse the anime and manga aspects of Ranma character so while he does have the manga versions DeadpanSnarker personality. The anime aspect of him can’t help but unleash it at inappropriate times.
* DeathSeeker: Mousse, while brainwashed by the Headmaster into thinking that Shampoo was killed, turned into this.
* {{Determinator}}: They had to actually force Ranma to go to the hospital after the battle with Brother Blood.
* DoubleStandardAbuseFemaleOnMale: Averted when Raven finds out that not only does Akane hit Ranma, but exactly how ''much'' she hits him. She’s horrified.
* DramaPreservingHandicap: When Ranma, Ryouga, and Raven take the Headmaster on 3 to 1 at the end of ''Titans and the Lost Boy''. Normally, any of them would be able to defeat him (and in fact, [[spoiler: Ryouga had, earlier in the story]]). However, all of them are half-dead at the time, making it a fairly even fight.
* TheEeyore: Ryoga, who legitimately has a lot to be sad about, is nevertheless prone to such heavy depression he's able to use it to fuel a ki attack - one so powerful it leaves a massive, smoking crater and frequently demolishes his opponents in one go.
* EmbarrassingNickname: Thanks to Happosai Jinx will forever more be known as "'The Lingerie Lesbian”.
* TheEmpath: Raven.
* EvilerThanThou: Headmaster teaches Nabiki the hard way what it means to be truly evil.
* EvilIsPetty: This is the reason Cologne went through such elaborate attempts to get rid of Happosai.
* EvilLaugh: Ryouga indulges in some while alone in Terra's cavern. Midway through, he stops to verify that he is indeed alone, then continues.
* EvilPlan: The Headmaster plans to build power using a school for supervillains. Brushogun plans to make bad guys using his superpowers to cause destruction. Nabiki plans to [[spoiler: betray the Headmaster and escape with four of his most useful students while the Teen Titans and the Nerima Wrecking Crew defeat him for her]]. Lex Luthor plans to [[spoiler: obtain an army of meta-martial artists.]] Probably to use against Superman.
* ExpectingSomeoneTaller: Terra’s reaction to seeing Ryoga for the first time.
* ExplainExplainOhCrap: While Cyborg was in the middle of explaining how his body armor was practically indestructible only the fact that it was made of Composite Titanium stood out in Ryoga’s mind. Cyborg mentioning that his panels were made titanium-carbide ceramic was all Ryoga needed to know he was susceptible to the Bakusai Tenketsu. Cue this trope.
* FingerPokeOfDoom: Literally, in the case of Ryouga's Bakusai Tenketsu against Cinderblock and [[spoiler: Cyborg]].
* ForgotAboutHisPowers: Ranma went through this in the Big Trouble in Little Tokyo arc especially during his fight with Saico-Tek as his lose required he suddenly [[ForgotAboutHisPowers forget years of training, skill and experience]]. Instead of using an IndyPloy he suddenly becomes a [[ComplexityAddiction complexity addict]], he forgets that his entire style revolves around aerial combat, and that he had been in a similar situation in his fight with Ryoga after he had learned the Bakusai Tenketsu. Luckily Ranma’s I.Q points went back up after this.
* ForWantOfANail: Because of the Teen Titans' influence on the Wrecking Crew, various changes are made to Teen Titan storylines. Examples? Red X never gets the suit. [[spoiler: Kasumi does]]. Ranma meets Lieutenant Daizo. Daizo [[spoiler: never ends up controlling Brushogen or turns evil]]. Anything else? Oh yes. [[spoiler: Ryouga rescues Terra]].
* ForTheEvulz: The reason Happosai wanted to fight Superman.
* Foreshadowing: Numerously done throughout the Tokyo arc.
** When Ranma first received the r-cycle he compared it to a bike in the Akira manga.
** While resting from Akane’s beating he watched ''Dragon Ball Z'' to pass the time.
** Natsume and Kurumi were driven to the dojo by Officer Tsukino.
* FriendlyEnemy: Nabiki and the Titans. To the point where she gets grumpy when she hasn't talked to them in awhile.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: Ryouga, Starfire, Raven, Terra, and Jinx.
* GoodIsBoring: This Is Kodachi's reason for wanting to be a villain.
* GotVolunteered: How Ryouga ended up training Terra.
** Daizo as well for the Super-Normal Defense Force.
* GroinAttack: How Ryoga defeated Captain Boomerang.
* GrowingTheBeard: ''Dark Titans'' starts off kind of slowly because Lathis is using the Red X arc to lay the groundwork for the rest of the fic. Things really take off near the end of the arc and continuing into ''Big Trouble In Little Tokyo''.
* HandicappedBadass: [[spoiler: Raven, after Mousse blinds her.]] It's temporary.
* HeelRealization: This was Ryoga’s reaction when Starfire pointed out that not only was his problems not so bad but there are people in the world with far bigger problems then him. Her included.
* HilariouslyAbusiveChildhood: Averted. While Ryoga will tell anyone who’d listen about his horrible life, the Titans know nothing of Ranma’s past. And when they do find out things like Akane beating him, they’re horrified.
* HeroicVow: Played for laughs. Ryouga repeatedly makes vows during the "Titan Rising" arc that he repeatedly fails to accomplish in the timetable he sets.
* HeroicWillpower: Various examples throughout the fics, but the battle with Brother Blood at the end of ''The Titans and the Lost Boy'' is particularly notable. HeroicWillpower is about the only thing keeping Ranma, Ryouga, and Raven standing during the fight.
* HeroWithBadPublicity: Ryoga will tell anyone who’d listen all of the horrible things Ranma has done to him. However his recollection of events tends to put him in a superior light. For example telling Jinx about Ranma pretending to be his sister without telling her that he told Ranma that his dog was dying and was planning on killing him. Also telling about his helping Ranma fight Herb without saying why as well as numerous others. Because of this when people first meet Ranma they expect a complete monster the likes of which never seen before.
* HopeSpot: Mostly for the relationships in Dark Titans. Every time it looks like one girl has an advantage over the others in any given LoveDodecahedron, something happens to either smack them down or elevate another girl to similar status. Even Robin/Starfire isn't totally safe from this.
* IdiotBall: When Konatsu fought Billy Numerous not once did he use his Duplication Technique.
* INeedToGoIronMyDog:
-->'''Robin''': "My crime files ''really'' need alphabetizing."
-->'''Starfire''': "I believe that it is my turn for which to patrol our fair city!"
-->'''Cyborg''': "Ah . . . I think I left the nuclear pile sitting out again!"
-->'''Beast Boy''': "Look, a distraction!"
-->'''Kasumi''': "Oh my! Look at the time, I have to go do the shopping."
* InstantExpert: Ranma used his innate knowledge of biomechanics to teach himself how to repair a motorcycle. He even masters driving it almost immediately... though his technique do leave something to be desired since he keeps trying to drive like Shampoo.
* IntercontinuityCrossover: ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'' and ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'' are completely unrelated. They also take place on different sides of the planet, which is how they could theoretically happen at the same time.
* InvoluntaryShapeshifting: Jusenkyo curses fall under this, so Ranma, Ryouga, Mousse, and Shampoo all count. Gizmo and Mammoth also manage to acquire Jusenkyo curses early on in the story.
* ImprobableAimingSkills: Played with Daizo is actually a horrible shot however every one of his missed shots ends up striking a better target.
* Irony: Oh so many but to name just a few:
** Headmaster brainwashed Ryoga to relive the moment Ranma knocked him into the Jusenkyo spring. However it was an apparently random girl & panda duo who actually knocked Ryoga into the spring, with Ranma, as far as he knew, being nowhere within miles of Jusenkyo at the time.
** Ryoga loves Starfire and hates Ranma yet the two are surprisingly similar to each other.
** Kasumi's explanation regarding her opinion of Raven and Ryouga as a couple was a well written piece of dialogue too, and some of what she said about opposites seemed rather pertinent to her own situation with Ranma and Akane.
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: Jinx didn't dump Ryouga; she nobly sacrificed her own love to let him find true happiness with Raven.
** Even before this, she begged Raven in tears to save Ryoga from Brother Bloods mind control.
** Jerkass: For a while, thanks to Ryouga's angry descriptions, the Titans somewhat unfairly think that Ranma is a sociopath with little to no redeeming qualities. When they actually meet him they quickly realize he isn't as bad as all that.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Both Ranma and Ryoga.
** Ranma can be really petty, spiteful, egotistic, or manipulative (especially when irritated, pushed, or just uncomfortable), but he's also a generally helpful and compassionate sort who will go out of his way to help anyone in serious trouble -- including people he just met -- and he'll feel bad if he realizes he's taken things too far. He's fairly quick to forgive, offer second chances or feel sympathy even for opponents or enemies; he saved Herb's and Nabiki's lives, her felt sad for Happosai when the latter felt abandoned by his students, and even ''before'' he found out about Brother Blood he was convinced Ryouga was being manipulated somehow because he couldn't believe Ryouga would turn to evil.
** Ryoga gives a harsh first impression, his anger can run away with him, blames literally everything on Ranma, shows great reluctance to acknowledge his own culpability, his recollection of events will put him in a much better light then what actually happened, and he is prone to idiotic behavior, but behaves in a more polite and considerate manner in general, is just as helpful as Ranma when confronted with people in trouble, and his compassion is as overemotional as the rest of him.
* TheJinx: Jinx.
* TheKnightsWhoSaySquee: Played with. When Brushogun summons his minions for the final battle of the Tokyo arc, Ranma gets an ''epic'' OhCrap moment when he sees [[Anime/DragonballZ Son Goku]] on the opposite team.
* KnowNothingKnowItAll: Colonge turned Lex Luthur of all people into this.
* LadyOfBlackMagic: Raven.
* LaughingMad: Jinx near the end of ''The Titans and the Lost Boy''.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Brushogun
* LethalChef:
** Both Starfire and Akane, for different reasons. Starfire, because of her alien biology, sometimes misjudges what sort of food is safe for humans to consume -- while Akane is just GiftedlyBad at cooking. Says something that the one time she makes something vaguely edible, it's because she was trying out one of Starfire's alien recipes which normally ''would'' have been inedible to humans. Even Ranma is impressed.
** Also Raven, although partially justified in this case due to trying to use ingredients labelled in Chinese.
* LeeroyJenkins: Beast Boy when he’s playing Halo. "LEEERRROOOOYY JENNNKIINS!"
* LesserOfTwoEvils: What could possibly be worse than an underwear stealing gnome, that just happens to be one of the most powerful martial artist's on the planet? Red X, that's who.
* LighterAndSofter: Played with. Lathis took the lighter and softer anime and made it DarkerAndEdgier.
* LikeBrotherAndSister: Starfire and Ryouga, but they have considered a relationship at times, as they get along well, and were initially presented as almost exactly equal in strength.
* LiteralMinded: Walking on Eggshells is not a technique, it is an expression. To bad Ranma didn’t know that.
* LoveDodecahedron: Ryouga has apparently picked up Ranma's "[[UnwantedHarem luck]]" with relationships.
* MadeOfIron: If Ryoga has NighInvulnerability; Ranma is this. While Ranma had nearly a dozen broken ribs, his dense musculature held them all nearly perfectly in place. This allowed him to completely heal within two weeks.
* MagnificentBastard: Nabiki takes to her new supervillain status like a duck to water, even [[spoiler: planning and executing a rebellion of H.I.V.E.'s students against Brother Blood right under his nose]] while manipulating the Titans and what's left of the NWC into helping her. She even decides to stay a villain and becomes the tactical head of the H.I.V.E. Five when the rest of the NWC goes back to Japan or joins up with super hero teams.
* MeaningfulEcho:
** During Ryouga's hiryu shoten ha training, Starfire says "I am sorry friend Ryouga, but I must do my utmost to thrash you soundly." Later, when Ryouga has been [[spoiler: brainwashed into fighting the Teen Titans,]] Starfire says the same line just before she [[spoiler: takes him on alone]].
** Beast Boy comments that he's fit as a fiddle when Terra wants to head down to the gym to watch Ryouga train so that he can accompany her, to which Kasumi replies "If you are implying that you are as healthy as a delicately crafted piece of wood being held together by so much string and glue . . . then yes, I suppose you are." Then, after [[spoiler: Terra nearly kills Beast Boy]], upon awakening, Beast Boy uses the same line.
* MetaFiction: The Brushogun arc.
* MonumentalDamage: In the "Big Trouble in Little Tokyo" arc, [[spoiler: Evangelion Unit 1]] destroys the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.
* MostCommonSuperpower: Raven and Starfire are both... rather well endowed. Notably, Jinx isn't -- at first it annoys her, but she acknowledges that it has its advantages when dealing with a pervert like Happosai.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero:
** Akane’s defining trait during the Big Trouble In Little Tokyo arc. He was the one who actually gave Brushogun the idea on how to strengthen his powers.
** When Akane finally got away from him instead of getting herself away from him she instead went back to Ranma to tell him something that A) he had pretty much figured out already and B) was completely useless to the situation. Not only did she put herself back in danger but Ranma as well.
* NighInvulnerability: This is one of the reasons Raven volunteered Ryoga to train Terra.
* NeverMyFault:
** While technically, Ranma destroyed Tokyo, but there was no way he could have gotten the Hiryu Shoten Ha that big without hooking it up to a nuclear reactor . . . So, in his book, that definitely made it Goku's fault.
** Ryoga rarely if ever acknowledges his culpability in how his life turned out instead he places all the blame on Ranma. Part of his CharacterDevelopment is getting over this attitude.
* NoSenseOfDirection: Ryouga. Fortunately, his Hive communication device came with a GPS.
* ObfuscatingStupidity:
** Kasumi. She appears to be TheTeamNormal, although she is the SupremeChef and is studying medicine. Secretly however, she [[spoiler: is a better hacker than Gizmo and is the one who stole the Red X suit.]]
** Akane thinks Shampoo may have a learning disability while Luthor realized she's a lot smarter then she leads people to believe.
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: We never do find out exactly how Beast Boy saved everyone except that it was the most death defying and utterly amazing escape ever made.
* OhCrap:
** Kunou's reaction to witnessing Beast Boy's chimera form.
** Cyborg seeing the shi shi hokodan hurtling towards him.
* OminousMultipleScreens: Played for laughs in ''The Titans and the Lost Boy''. When the Headmaster heads to the security suit, there are several screens that would normally display what's going on all over the academy. Unfortunately, Nabiki had Gizmo gut the system, so none of the screens actually show anything.
* OneWingedAngel:
** Beast Boy's chimera form.
** The reaction to Akane's food.
* OppositesAttract:
** Ryoga is increasingly paired off with Jinx, who, prior to the events of ''Titans and the Lost Boy'' and ''Dark Titans'', was a super-villain, and is still very antagonistic.
** And before that, he was being paired off with Raven, who by necessity suppresses her emotions (as opposed to Ryouga, who draws power from his), has inherited psychic superpowers (as opposed to Ryouga, who has [[CharlesAtlasSuperpower super strength due to training and his harsh lifestyle]]), and wears dark clothing (as opposed to Ryouga, who wears yellow).
* {{Otaku}}: Gizmo displays a few signs of this.
--> '''Gizmo:''' "Heh, I don't care if he can shoot atomic powered snot-blasts, there's '''no''' way he's winnin' this. He's up against freakin' ''Tetsuo'' . . . '''Tetsuo''', boss!"
--> '''Nabiki:''' You've seen Manga/{{Akira}}?
--> '''Gizmo:''' "Please, it's a movie about a dystopian future where science goes mad, ''of course'' I've seen Manga/{{Akira}}!"
* OvershadowedByAwesome:
** Robin confesses to feeling like this in regards to Ryouga. Before, he was the martial artist in comparison to teammates with superpowers. Now, he's the weaker martial artist.
** The amazons compared to the five Assassins hired by Luthor.
** The student’s at the H.I.V.E Academy to the kidnapped members of the Wrecking crew.
** Strangely enough, the student were surprised that Kuno is considered this.
* PairTheSpares: Ryu and Natsume, or Ryu and Ukyou. Either of which makes sense, although the latter leaves Konatsu alone.
* TheParagon: Goku. Generally Cyborg, and handled so well that one can't help but wonder if Creator/DCComics is now making him into a BreakoutCharacter because of it.
* PerkyGoth: Jinx.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Terra, after being de-petrified.
* {{Pettanko}}: Jinx and Terra
* PlotParallel:
** Ryouga and Jinx. Ryouga tells Akane he's P-Chan because he can't bear to keep hurting her by keeping it secret, even if she doesn't know, and even if it means losing her. Jinx begs Raven to save Ryouga from them because she can't bear what Brother Blood's brainwashing is doing to him, even if he doesn't know about it, and even if it means losing him. It even gets [[LampShading lampshaded]] by Raven.
** Terra and Ryouga. Both of them were wanderers with trust issues who befriended the Teen Titans, betrayed them, and eventually put all of Jump City at risk.
** Ranma/Terra and Ryoga/Raven. Ranma and Ryoga's relationship share many similarities with Raven and Terra’s. While Ryoga embraced the darkness like Raven, Ranma like Terra didn’t let it consume him funny that it was Ryoga that was brainwashed by evil and not Ranma.
* PowerCreepPowerSeep:
** Initially, in Titans and the Lost Boy, Ryouga (and by extension, the rest of the Ranma crew), as well as Starfire and Cyborg are all drastically reduced in strength. As the story progressed, the author has been slowly been bringing them back up to their levels displayed in the animated series source materials. Ryouga and Starfire are represented as close in strength as a concious choice by the author, as, although her greatest blatant feat of strength was far beneath manga Ryouga's, she was sometimes able to challenge Cyborg. Cyborg, whose top showing in the animated series include tearing up an office building and using it as a bludgeon, which matches Lime keeping open a closing ravine, is presented as ten times stronger than either of them. It would be about 3 times stronger compared with manga Ryouga, but that may be irrelevant.
** Since the author is using the Ranma anime and Titan's animated series as alpha canon (for observable combat feats, as opposed to trying to extrapolate from static page images), and the Ranma manga and Titans Go comic as Beta canon, quickly followed by the DCAU and other animated DC shows as third canon, followed finally by the actual DC comic lines for the lowest level of canon, this means that although the speed and skill feats for the Ranma crew are still superior to the Titan's cast, unlike the manga's supersonic speed and unearthly skill, it is not by an insurmountable level. Again, this was done as a balance issue, as the manga has showings far in excess of those shown in the anime, although comics Cyborg and Starfire were actually usually presented as far less physically extreme than their (much more compelling) animated series counterparts.
** As a reverse counterpoint, another notable case of this trope is Starfire's flight speed. Despite her ability to fly FTL, both in the animated show and in the comics, she has been dropped to sub relativistic speeds in regards to Reflections (which is somewhat justified via a GameBreakingInjury).
* PreAsskickingOneLiner:
--> '''Starfire:''' "I am sorry friend Ryouga, but I must do my utmost to thrash you soundly."
* PrecisionFStrike: ''[[spoiler: Kasumi.]]''
* [[RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap Rescued From The Buttmonkey Heap:]] As one of the page author's friends put it, "[[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Look, Kunou is evolving!]] Kunou evolved into LargeHam!"
* RefugeInAudacity:
** Spring of Drowned Sturgeon. Being a fish out of water was not nearly as fun as it sounded.
** A blood feud over bread.
** What Brushogun thought of Ranma’s fear of cats.
--> '''Brushogun''': “The fear of cats though, that was just absurd enough to be funny. Who in their right minds was afraid of cats? Not just afraid, but full blown phobia terrified. It was amusing enough to think about, but”
** Terra learning to control her powers by watching Avatar the Last Airbender
** The Watch Tower uses AT&T because of their long distance plan.
* ShipTease: Lathis repeatedly dropped hints about the Raven/Ranma relationship, and then kept dragging it out.
* RougeAnglesOfSatin: Apparently a victim of a larger vocabulary than the author can spell; at one point Ranma is shocked when an opponent with a hole blown through them fails to have a "grizzly" wound; another time the reason the Joketsuzoku fail to be impressed with money because they're "aesthetic" warriors.
* RuleOfCool: Nabiki abandoned two members because Hive Five sounds better than Hive Seven.
* RunningGag:
** Used ''magnificently''. ''Nobody'' can lay a hand on Kasumi while she's at H.I.V.E., to the point where even Brother Blood is affected. [[spoiler: So when Blood foils Nabiki's {{plan}} [[HostageSituation by putting an energy blade to Kasumi's neck]] [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech and telling Nabiki she's not ruthless enough to be a]] ''real'' [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech supervillain like himself]], it comes ''completely'' out of left field for both the readers and the characters.]]
** Shampoo doesn't have a herd.
* SassyBlackWoman: Bumblebee
* TheScapegoat: Ranma is this for Ryoga no one really seems to care until they realized that he was corrupting Terra.
* SecretStabWound: [[spoiler: Jinx near the end of ''Titans and the Lost Boy''.]]
* SelfDestructMechanism: H.A.E.Y.P. Academy has one.
* SinkOrSwimMentor + TricksterMentor:
** Happosai to Jinx
** Due to his stupidity Ryoga started out as this for Terra
* SurrogateSoliloquy: Ryoga did this when he figured out how to save Terra.
* ShipSinking: Ryouga finally came clean to Akane about being P-chan before the story began and got a chewing out to the tune of "I never want to see you again!" for his courage. While Akane later felt bad about her reaction and apologized, by that time Ryouga had moved on and started to form his own LoveDodecahedron.
* ShipperOnDeck: Kasumi for Ryouga/Jinx. To the extent that she has been [[RelationshipSabotage subtly sabotaging]] Raven's budding relationship with Ryouga. Cyborg and Ranma are also pro Ryouga/Jinx, although they aren't actually interfering. Starfire ships Ryouga/Raven, and does what she can to support that relationship.
* SpannerInTheWorks: Brother Blood didn't try to recruit Ranma or Akane -- Ranma because his presence would potentially leading to infighting between the other recruits, Akane because Ryouga didn't mention her on the list of Nerima's fighters. This means both of them, particularly Ranma, end up as the unpredicted wild cards who contributed to Brother Blood's defeat. [[spoiler: Nabiki's BatmanGambit even hinged on this.]]
* SplitPersonality: Kasumi shows signs of this at the end of the "Red XX" arc.
* [[StayWithTheAliens Stay With The Super-Beings]]: ''TALB'' ends with the Nerima Wrecking Crew breaking up into about five or six different groups; Ranma and Akane go back to Japan, Nabiki takes off to lead the HIVE Five, Kasumi and Ryouga stick with the Titans, the Kunou and Ukyou join Titans East, the Amazons ''try'' to go home but get derailed into visiting Metropolis, and Happosai takes Jinx under his wing and goes on a training trip that eventually takes him to [[spoiler: Gotham City.]]
* StealthHiBye: What Lathis thinks the Umisenken is this despite the fact that the manga version enjoys doing this long before he even knew about it, particularly to Akane, but has done it to others as well. The anime version gets a few cases of it in as well.
* StrangeMindsThinkAlike: Jinx and Happosai
* StrangledByTheRedString: Used as a plot point. Brother Blood literally brainwashes Ryouga and Jinx into being in love with each other.
* StunnedSilence: Ranma’s reaction to Daizo missing the Godzilla like monster.
* StupidityInducingAttack: Brother Blood briefly considers doing the "drooling vegetable" variation to Ryouga, but ultimately passes on that in favor of making him a slave.
* SupernaturalMartialArts‎: Meta-martial artist: their abilities are far beyond traditional martial artists' as meta-humans' are beyond normal humans'.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: Kasumi and Red X
* SuperPowerMeltdown: Ryouga's uncontrolled perfect shishi houkodan near the end of ''Titans and the Lost Boy''.
* SuperStrength: Starfire is handled as a little stronger than Ryouga, and Cyborg as a little stronger than Lime.
* SupremeChef: Kasumi
* TakeAThirdOption: Angel, Private Hive and See more flat out refused to fight Ranma and Ryoga instead opted to get revenge on Ukyo Kuno and Bumblebee.
* TheTapeKnewYouWouldSayThat: Jinx's message to Ryouga on the cusp of Happi's test.
* TemporaryBlindness: [[spoiler: Raven]]
* TemptingFate: What could possibly be worse than dealing with a manically laughing girl on the edge? That uncontrolled laughter suddenly turning into uncontrolled sobbing.
* TeamMom: Kasumi
* TookALevelInBadass: Everyone. Yes, even Kasumi.
* TrainingFromHell: Jinx's training under Happosai.
** The entirety of the Titan’s visit to the Amazon village can be considered this
* Understatement: Happosai having Batman at a bit of a disadvantage.
* UnequalPairing: Ryoga and Raven ever getting intimate would result in him [[ManOfSteelWomanOfKleenex unwillingly crushing her body]] while she fried his brain. Cyborg and Kasumi also qualifies. In terms of personalities they should work out great, but he largely is and looks like a machine. If he remodelled into a human-looking body with extreme movement fine-tuning it could work though.
* UnskilledButStrong:
** Comparatively speaking. Ryoga is actually vastly skilled in a number of areas its just that his main strength is what he displays the most his raw offensive power and neigh invulnerability. While Ranma can still be considered the more skilled of the two Ryoga’s H.I.V.E Training has risen Ryoga’s skill to the point that they are pretty much even turning their battle to one of stamina and endurance which Ryoga is clearly the better in. and even then their fight was ridiculously close with Ryoga himself Lampshading that it wouldn’t happen again.
** According to Happosai, ComicBook/{{Superman}} is this -- he's got more physical strength than anyone, but as fighters go he's a talentless brawler.
* WeakButSkilled: Ranma would scoff at being called "weak," and he ''is'' very strong by most measures, but comparative to other fighters in the fic, including Ryouga, he doesn't have anywhere near their level of pure power. He more than makes up for it in sheer skill and [[CombatPragmatist Combat Pragmatism]], though.
* WeaksauceWeakness: How do you defeat an ancient demon? Just add water!
* WhatCouldPossiblyGoWrong + YouAndWhatArmy: Daizo said this to Brushogun it was instantly lampshaded
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse:
** The T-Brella's "Helicopter Option". To those who haven't read ''Reflections Lost on a Dark Road'', it seems to simply be forgotten about.
** After her initial appearance, Kodachi isn't seen or heard from again.
* WhatTheHellHero: The Titans various reactions to Terra's dissing of Ranma, especially Starfire's, as well as Starfire's reaction to her team mates comments about Jinx clothing or rather lack there of.
* WimpFight: Despite being skilled combatants, Ryouga and Starfire manage this when their grapple degrades into pinching, biting, and hair pulling.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: At first Red-X just seems like a SuperpoweredEvilSide‎ but the reader quickly notices that there are obvious changes to Kasumi’s personality after she first wears it.
* YouJustToldMe: How Batman found out who Happosai was.
