----
* ''Manga/AttackOnTitan'': The show has an incredible number of masterpiece-level episodes, including "Scream", "Warrior", "Attack Titan", and "Hero". It also has a lot of masterpiece chapters, including Chapter 121 and Chapter 122. But the episode above even those masterpieces is "That Day", which solves most of the mysteries built up by the series in an incredibly satisfying way. With incredible voice acting, animation, and music, this episode is a serious contender for best anime episode of the decade.
* ''Anime/CodeGeass'': While a lot of people might bring up the season 1 finale, or the series finale with R2, I would like to bring attention to episode 21 of R2, "The Ragnarok Connection," which I think is arguably the pinnacle of the series. This episode is literally climax after climax, with [[spoiler: Lelouch finding out that his mother's consciousness still exists, finding out that the killing of his mother was all a ploy, the defeat of Charles, gaining the second Geass eye, and finally, the SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome at the end.]]
* ''Anime/CowboyBebop'''s Ballad of Fallen Angels. There are many outstanding episodes in the show but this one takes the whole cake. It builds up the tension so well; the dialogue, the atmosphere, and of course, the climax. It's CB at it's finest and I always get goosebumps whenever I rewatch it.
* Episode 14 of the first season of ''Anime/DarkerThanBlack''. One of the most [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments beautifully]] [[TearJerker emotional]] episodes I've seen in ''any'' anime. [[spoiler: Especially the end, where the supposedly [[EmptyShell emotionless]] Yin smiles at Hei.]]
* ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight''. Archer v. Berserker. BadassCreed, GratuitousEnglish and the best fight in the series.
* ''Literature/HaruhiSuzumiya'': The most awesome episode is episode 12, Live Alive. It feels like the entire season is a build-up to this episode, and they finish it with ConcertClimax and showing Haruhi's CharacterDevelopment very nicely when she is helping the band, and her reaction after getting praised is priceless. Bonus points for her singing God Knows with freakin' Yuki Nagato on the guitar.
* For me, the anime of ''VisualNovel/HigurashiWhenTheyCry'' has a couple of episodes that stand out in particular.
** Episode 11 is perhaps the turning-point at which this becomes a great series. Keiichi, the likable protagonist, is contemplating murder, and we can't help but sympathise. His dilemma is very well portrayed, and the atmosphere throughout the episode is beautifully created.
** Episode 26 (the finale) is simply a masterpiece: expertly crafted tension building up to the climactic RooftopConfrontation, awesome music, and the IKnowYoureInThereSomewhereFight showing just how strong both Keiichi and Rena are. (I've been a die-hard shipper ever since.)
* The episode of ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'' that I'll always treasure isn't any of the dark episodes, but "Both Of You, Dance Like You Want To Win!" It's hilarious, heartwarming, has epic animation, and easily make you forget that Asuka and Shinji are considered rivals in the first place.
* ''Anime/PokemonTheSeriesDiamondAndPearl'' the episode "[[Recap/PokemonS11E40ALeanMeanTeamRocketMachine A Lean Mean Team Rocket Machine]]" was one that I quite liked as I actually found the BalloonBelly stuff to be funny even though I don't usually like this kind of humour (my personal favourite was the part where Jesse says "No better place to park food" and pats her belly, causing it to make a drumming sound). It was also cool to hear the old theme again and it provided some good {{fanservice}}.
* "My Very Best Friend," the series finale of ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica''. Madoka is genuinely one of the most selfless characters in all of media, and I cry every time at her farewell to Homura.
** "I Won't Rely On Anyone Anymore", a huge WhamEpisode that recontextualizes all of Homura's actions in the prior episodes while being a huge TearJerker as we see this normal if shy girl relive the deaths of all her friends over and over again until she becomes [[BrokenBird a broken shell of her former self]], [[{{Determinator}} but never gives up anyway]]. The second that episode was finished, Homura became one of my biggest fictional favorites.
