Drinking games for ''Anime/PokemonTheSeries'':

The simplest game, only one simple rule:
* Drink a finger every time a Pokémon's name is said. Yes, this includes when a Pokémon says its own name or part of it e.g. "Pika!" (Have an ambulance on stand-by...)

----
Alternatively if you like some variation.
Take a sip when:

'''Suicidal rule:'''
* If marathoning from the first episode, take a sip for a cameo from each Pokémon that will not have a major impact on the plot until much later in the series.
* Ash and his friends introduce themselves. In any season, you will definitely die.
* Misty mentions her bike. You will die in the first season.
* Someone utters, whether intentionally/unintentionally, a rather painful {{Pun}} (Dub only).
** If there's any noticeable LipLock.
* Someone/something facefaults.
* Ash says a Pokémon's name and then whips out his Pokédex to check its data.
** Take two if it was a Pokémon he already encountered.
*** Take four if it was a Pokémon he already caught.
* Ash gets another badge.
** Take two shots if Ash won a badge informally.
* May or Dawn gets another ribbon.
* Ash comments on how Gary is always one step ahead of him. Take two if Gary appears.
* Ash explains to the person that he just met that he wants to become a Pokémon Master.
* Brock hits on a pretty girl, only to be dragged away by Misty/Max/Bonsly/Croagunk.
** Two if he's actually successful.
* Take a shot when somebody catches a Pokémon.
** However, if that somebody is Goh, only take a sip. You'll die anyway, just slightly slower.
*** Down the whole drink if Goh attempts to catch a Pokémon, only for said Pokémon to either escape from the ball or the Pokémon throws the ball back at him.
*** Down the whole drink if Goh ''doesn’t'' catch a Pokémon in an episode.
** Take another if a Pokémon evolves. If the evolution is a DeusExMachina that saves the day, take two.
** Take another if a Pokémon is [[PutOnABus released]]. Finish your drink if Ash promises to come back for them and never does.
* Drink whenever Clemont pulls out an invention out of nowhere.
** Drink another if said invention backfires and/or explodes.
** Down the whole drink if Clemont’s invention actually works for a change.
* Likewise, Bonnie when she tries to find Clemont a wife as "a keeper".
** Two if the other girl blushes or accepts.
* Ash uses Pikachu in battle, even when the type is a disadvantage, and the other Pokémon is stronger then Pikachu.
** Take a drink if Ash wins with a Pokémon with type disadvantage, or if he loses with a Pokémon with type advantage. Especially potent as of ''Black and White''.
* Every time Pikachu uses Thunderbolt.
** Finish your drink if he uses Thunder.
** Chug if it destroys a bike or zaps a girl.
* Take a shot every time Team Rocket refers to Ash and his friends as "twerps". You'll be dead in three minutes flat.
* Team Rocket shows up to steal Pikachu using a machine.
** Take another if Pikachu is the first one to attack, only for Team Rocket's machine to turn out to be lightningproof this week. (What? Too specific to happen that often? Oh, if you only knew...)
** Take another if they say their motto right in front of Ash and friends, no matter how many times Ash has heard it already.
** Finish your drink if they are "blasted off again!" (Or, in ''Black and White'', blast themselves off again. Or, in ''Sun and Moon'', get dragged off by Bewear again.)
*** On that note, start on another if the Pokėmon that blasted them off ''wasn't'' Pikachu. If it was more than one Pokėmon and Pikachu was one of them, it doesn't count and you don't have take a sip.
*** Add a shot if other Pokémon are responsible for defeating Team Rocket and Pikachu's only involvement is landing the blastoff hit. No one likes killstealers.
* Whoever answers correctly first on "Who's that Pokémon?" or "Pokémon Trainer's Choice" doesn't have to drink. Everyone else has to take a sip. Whoever gets it wrong has to take two.
** If the Pokémon Trainer's Choice answer is incorrect, everyone takes two sips. If it's the "[[CowboyBebopAtHisComputer Arbok evolves into Seviper]]" one, everyone finishes their drink.
* When Ash's Gym battle is interrupted by Team Rocket.
** Chug if the gym leader gives Ash the badge right after.
* Take a shot every time the [[ElementalRockPaperScissors type matchups]] are mentioned. (Did you know Grass is weak to Fire? Grass is weak to Fire! Fire-types have an advantage over Grass-types!)
** Additionally, take a shot every time they '''still''' get it wrong, whether getting the matchup itself wrong or ignoring secondary types (or Levitate in AG and after.) Seriously, even if the Pokémon that are used by whoever's supposed to win were 10 levels higher, some of the outcomes would be incredibly unlikely.
** Take another shot if the one explaining the type matchups then says that it's still anyone's battle (or words to that effect).
* Take a shot each time Meowth falls in love with someone. Take another if he only knows them for one episode and then never mentions them again.
** Alternately, take two shots if he mentions Meowzie (his first love).
*** If it's in "Go West, Young Meowth," then you will die of alcohol poisoning.
** Take three if Meowsey is not brought up by Meowth, but by someone else.
* When a champion appears in the episode.
* When a female competes in any of the conferences.
* Take two shots when a Pokémon is hit by an attack it is supposed to be immune to. Three shots if it's a poison attack on a Steel-type or an electric attack on a Ground-type (for the second case, if it was Ash's Pikachu who delivered the blow, MAKE IT DOUBLE!) Levitate and similar abilities are ignored pre-AG, the Magnemite family is considered pure Electric in Season 1, and the Fairy-type is ignored prior to X and Y for the purposes of this.
** If it still hurts them, down the fucking bottle to dumb your mind down to the point where you forget that it doesn't really affect.
** Take an extra drink if it's actually {{justified|Trope}}, such as a Ground-type getting soaked with water to make it vulnerable to electricity.
** Conversely, finish your drink if a Pokémon shrugs off an attack that would normally one-shot it, plus an extra drink if this one's justified as well (like a Rock-type covered with something to protect it from water).
* Take a shot every time Misty's Togepi wanders off or uses Metronome.
* Take a shot whenever Jigglypuff's song makes everyone fall asleep.
* Take a sip for every time Mr. Sukizo says "Remarkable". Better have 9-1-1 on standby for this one.
* If a rival appears and for every douche action he/she does, drink.
** Drink 5 bottles if it's Paul, and don't count every action he does. Your kidneys would hate you if you counted them.
* Take a drink whenever Paul says "pathetic."
** Take another when he verbally abuses his Pokémon.
* When someone makes a blantantly bad move just so that the writers can let the other person win, take a shot.
** Two if it's during a gym battle or league match.
* When Dawn has a problem with her hair.
* When Dawn utters her CatchPhrase: "No need to worry!"
** Take two shots if she breaks that rule.
* When Brock [[CaptainObvious explains something that we can all see for ourselves.]]
* Whenever Iris says her CatchPhrase: "What a kid!" or "You're such a kid!"
** Or Cilan says his CatchPhrase: "It's tasting (or whatever variaton) time!"
** Or when Cilan mentions that he’s a “(insert something) connoisseur.”
* When Ash has to save Pikachu, take a drink.
* Take a shot whenever James' grass Pokémon decide to get close and personal with him.
* Take a shot every time a character of the day mistakes Ash and the female travelling companion for being a couple. (YMMV on whether or not this applies to Serena, given how unambiguous her feelings are.)
* Take a shot [[AccidentalMisnaming whenever someone gets Butcher - er, I mean, Butch's name wrong]].
** Take another if they call him something other than Biff (out of all the names they have for poor [[WesternAnimation/BugsBunny Bugs]] - er, I mean, Butch - Biff is the most common name used).
*** Take a triple shot if someone gets Hutc– Butch's name ''right'', and he thinks they got his name wrong.
* Likewise, take a shot every time someone gets Best Wishes' rival [[AccidentalMisnaming Steven...er, Stephan's]] name wrong. You'll be dead [[OverusedRunningGag by the end of the episode you're watching!]]
* Take a shot every time Barry or Bianca does a CrashIntoHello to Ash or anyone else.
** Take two if Barry demands a fine.
** Take two if Bianca apologizes.
* If [[BreakingTheFourthWall the fourth wall is broken]], take a shot if Team Rocket did it, chug if it was someone else.
* Take a shot everytime one of the main characters says their catchphrase when sending out their Pokémon. (i.e., "I choose you!", "Spotlight!", "Stand by for battle!", etc.)
* Down a whole bottle everytime Ash loses a league because of a DiabolusExMachina.
** Down another if it was a CurbStompBattle.
** Down another if the episode in question was the infamous Kalos League Finals episode. You're gonna need all the alcohol you can get to wash off that bad memory.
** Drink as much as you feel like you can drink in celebration when Ash wins the Alola League.
* Take a shot everytime Ash loses to a rookie trainer.
** Take two if Pikachu was curb stomped.
* Take a shot everytime Ash forgets the basics and does something stupid.
* Take a sip every time PoorCommunicationKills when the character of the week is introduced.
** Take two if the heroes are mistaken for thieves.
* Take a shot every time there's some excuse not to have the gym battle in the episode you're watching. Down the bottle if the battle starts only to be interrupted and resolved in a later episode. The Blackthorn episodes will have you under the table. There's a 'reason' Pokémopolis calls "Better Eight than Never" "No more excuses".
* Take a shot every time Ash sends out his bird Pokémon to search the area.
* Take a sip for every instance of ShipTease between Ash and his current female companion. (Not recommended for XY series - '''especially''' not ''Party Dancecapades''.)
** Upgrade sip to shot if it's between Ash and a minor character instead.
*** And to full glass if it's between Ash and a Pokémon.
** For all the above, double the dose if this particular instance [[DubText wasn't present in the Japanese version.]]
* Take a shot whenever the token female companion is objectified by the creative team. The sexism already rampant through the franchise according to some detractors is so greatly amplified by the anime, you might want an ambulance on speed-dial, especially if the objectification goes up a level from a WalkingSwimsuitScene to a downright fetishy costume, in which case you would take ''two'' shots.
* Skull your drink through the Team Rocket intro.
* Two shots if Gary appears sans cheerleaders.
* Take a shot whenever a Pokémon's attack does something ''completely'' different from what it would do (or not do) in the game.
* Take a shot whenever they visit a town/city ''not'' mentioned in the game.
* Finish an entire bottle for the Lavender Tower, which is just a garden-variety scary castle (as opposed to a Pokémon cemetery) in the anime.
* Take a shot whenever a Shiny Pokémon appears. Just be careful if it's Noctowl.
* Take a shot for an obviously-female or obviously-male Pokémon.
** Two shots if this was from ''before'' sexual dimorphism was introduced into the Pokémon universe (aside from the Nidorans)
* Take a shot when you hear music from the game.
* Take a shot when a Pokémon is sent to Professor Oak.
** Two shots if he's actually prepared for it.
* Take a shot whenever he gets smothered by Muk.
* Take a shot when he doesn't want to talk about whatever went down with him and Professor Ivy.
* Whenever he feeds a Pokémon.
* Whenever Gary has a costume on that matches the situation.
* Whenever Jenny or Joy appears.
** Two shots when they're in the same scene.
* Whenever Misty goes into {{Tsundere}} mode. (Two shots for the Dere-Dere aspect, one for the Tsun-Tsun.)
* If Misty showcases blatant SuperNotDrowningSkills at any point, finish your current bottle, then drink the whole of your next bottle.
* Whenever they're attacked by a wild Pokémon. If you're feeling ''really'' stupid, er, I mean...bold, do one for every one of that kind of Pokémon. (For example, the first episode, for every Spearow that attacks Pikachu. Note that you ''will'' die if [[ZergRush Beedrill]] are involved.)
* Whenever Ash gets electrocuted by Pikachu.
* Whenever someone makes a {{Pun}}.
** For Samson Oak, just take a shot every time he appears on-screen. It's probably better for your liver than the alternative.
* Whenever Ash and co. trust Team Rocket.
** Down an entire bottle if their ploy involved a PaperThinDisguise.
* Take a shot for all the AmusingInjuries Ash suffers in Alola.
** Take two if another character is harmed with him. One more if it wasn't one of his Pokémon (including the [=RotomDex=]).
* Take a shot if Ash introduces himself to a character-of-the-day by stating his full name, his hometown, ''and'' his goal.
** Take a sip if he does all that, and he introduces Pikachu.
** Don't drink if he just says his first name (whether he introduces Pikachu in this case is irrelevant).
* When someone from Unova fawns all over Pikachu, since wild Pikachu aren't from Unova.
* Drink a shot whenever two Pokémon KO each other. Finish your drink if it happens twice in one battle.
* Take a sip every time Ash pulls out his Pokédex
* Take a shot when the same animation is used over and over.
* Finish your drink if Ash and Co. and Team Rocket have to work together.
* Take a shot when Ash turns his cap around and tosses a Poké Ball.
* Take a shot when someone says something as they throw a Poké Ball (e.g. "I choose you!" or whatever it is)
* Finish your drink whenever Ash undergoes a FlatlinePlotline.
** Down an entire case if it's someone ''other'' than Ash or Pikachu.
* Take a shot every time Ash's (or pretty much anyone's) [[GrowlingGut stomach growls]].
* Take a shot every time Ash does something suicidal while protecting others.
** Take two if he isn't slowed down at all by his injuries.
* Take two shots when Team Rocket wears a disguise and the disguise doesn't fool anyone!
* Take a shot whenever Ash says "what's that?"
* Drink whenever Ash looks like he's about to panic over losing a battle, before having a sudden EurekaMoment that turns things around for him.
* Take a shot every time Ash and friends have a perfect Pokemon for a problem they have [[ForgotAboutHisPowers but don't use them]]

'''Movie-Specific:'''
* Take two shots if a Pokémon or person dies rather than fainting.
** Down your drink if they [[HeroicSacrifice perished saving someone else.]]
*** Take a sip if they were brought back to life.
** Take another shot if [[DisneyDeath it only looks like they died but they didn't.]]
* Take a shot if the villain is "NotEvilJustMisunderstood."
* Drink In Detective Pikachu while Eevee evolves into Flareon.

----
Drinking game for ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'' (the games):

Take a sip when:
* Every time you run into a Rattata or one of the other ComMons. You'll die before earning your first badge.
** Take a shot for each {{mook}} you encounter in a Double or Horde Battle.
* Every time you face a {{Mook}} from that region's team using one of the ComMons.
** Take two sips if they mention how badly they are going to defeat you.
* Take a shot every time a {{mook}} tells you that [[ResistanceIsFutile "it's hopeless to try and stop us!"]] or calls your character a [[KidHero little boy/girl.]]
* Take a shot every time someone mentions shorts.
* Finish your drink if the game freezes or crashes.
* If you encounter a shiny, only for it to flee or faint before you can catch it, finish the bottle. (You'll need to drown your sorrows anyway.) If it faints from Struggle recoil or a critical hit, finish everyone else's shots too. (Roaming Pokémon don't count. The plot-relevant Gyarados and other encounters that are always shiny don't count.)
* Take a shot for every reference to Website/SomethingAwful, PopCulture, and/or Internet memes. (For the record, you're gonna die in X & Y)
* Take a drink if your Pokémon hurts itself in confusion (finish your drink if it KO's itself from confusion damage.)
* Take a drink every time a computer-controlled Mon makes a pointless or stupid move choice (Explosion on a Ghost-type, Rest or Recover at full HP, spamming 1/4 effectiveness moves, etc.
** Take two if it was your rival.
** Finish the drink if it was someone in a Wifi battle.
* Take a drink every time a trainer-owned Pokémon uses Splash. This includes your own Pokémon and uses of Splash via Metronome or similar moves. You are exempt if it was Z-Splash.
** Down the bottle if it ''wasn't'' a Magikarp.
* Drink when your Pokémon and wild one [[DoubleKO take down each other.]]
** Drink again if it wasn't because the wild Pokémon exploded.
* Take a drink every time the opponent's Pokémon somehow survives with one HP left from a regular, damaging move and the opponent didn't use Endure the turn before. Take another drink if the opponent eats its held berry after surviving.
* Take a drink every time the opponent uses Protect or Detect. Take two if the opponent uses the move and gets the protection twice in a row.
* Take a drink every time the rival in DPP [[CrashIntoHello runs into you.]]
* Take a drink every time a wild Pokémon uses Mud Sport or Water Sport.
* Take six drinks (one for each Pokémon) when you encounter a Fisherman with six Magikarp.
* Take a small sip every time you encounter a {{Goddamn Bat|s}} in a cave.[[labelnote:Protip]]Bring Repels for the sake of your liver.[[/labelnote]]
* Take a drink every time the Battle Tower/Frontier/Subway/Maison/Royal/Tree opponent's Pokémon [[TheComputerIsACheatingBastard dodges your attack or holds onto a Focus Band]] when by all rights your move should've KO'd it without fail. Take two if it happens multiple times in a row, such as Quick Claw. Finish your drink if you lost because of this. ([[INeedAFreakingDrink You'll need it.]])
* Take a drink if another player does a KillSteal in the Battle Royal Dome.
* Take a drink if an attack that would normally inflict significant damage or a status condition is nullified by the target's held item.
* Take a drink whenever a CriticalHit happens against your favor. (i.e. knocking out your Pokémon that had plenty of defensive buffs, or knocking out a Pokémon that you were trying to catch) You are exempt if the move or setup involved has guaranteed crits.
* Take two drinks if you notice the AI picked a much less damaging move but only because it ''knew'' it would land an ailment this way.
** Take another if that attack is a normally inaccurate one that landed in this instance ''and'' triggered its secondary effect.
** Take another if that attack is a OneHitKill attack.
* Take a sip if you accidentally use a status move affected by Prankster on a Dark-type in Gen VII(I) forgetting they can't be affected by those.
* Take a sip for [[ComplacentGamingSyndrome every one of the following]] in the Team Preview:
** Any powerful (BST 680+) legendary Pokémon
*** Two sips if it's Primal Groudon, Xerneas, Mega Rayquaza or Arceus
** Other legendary Pokémon, particularly the following:
*** Landorus-T
*** Heatran

*** Take another sip if it has neither Speed Boost nor a Blazikenite.
** Kangaskhan
*** Take another sip if it never mega-evolves.
** Greninja
*** Finish the glass if it has Torrent.
** Whimsicott and anything that can have [[HonorBeforeReason Justified]] together
** Talonflame
*** Finish the glass if it lacks Gale Wings.
** Sylveon
** Gengar
*** Take another sip if it never mega-evolves either.
*** Down the glass if it mega-evolves and uses [[ThatOneAttack Perish Song]].
** Any Pseudo-Legendary
*** Two sips if it's a [[NighInvulnerable Multiscale Dragonite]], and down the glass if it has Roost or you lack Ice moves and a variant of Mold Breaker. Also applies for [[OlympusMons Multiscale Lugia and Shadow Shield Lunala]] and you lack Ghost and Dark moves.
*** Down a second glass if he additionally carries [[StatusBuff Dragon Dance or Calm Mind respectively]] and finish the bottle if he sweeps you. [[TotalPartyKill Down a six pack if he does it]] [[OneManArmy by himself.]]
* Down a glass if an enemy Ditto [[HoistByHisOwnPetard catches you boosted sweeper,]] [[TotalPartyKill and revenge-sweeps your team]].
** [[KarmicDeath Down two if the Pokémon copied was one of the above mentioned.]]
*** Down three in celebration if YOU pull off the revenge sweep.
* Add one sip for each shiny instance of the above.
* Take a shot every time the opponent uses spammable attacks like Baton Pass, U-turn, Volt Switch, Knock Off and Scald
* Take a sip each time you encounter someone online who uses unreleased shinies (such as Meloetta or Celebi) or other obvious hacks.
** Take another if you pulverize them, and a third if they [[RageQuit disconnect]] right before you clinch the match.
** If they then complain that [[HypocriticalHumor you're using hacks]], finish the glass.
** Smash the bottle against your forehead if they win the match. Eat the shards if you were using a strong competitive team (such as [[FanNickname CHALK]]) and/or powerful legendaries.
* Finish the glass if you encounter PIMPNITE. Pour another glass and take a sip if he challenges you.
** Finish that drink if you lose, then chug another if it was to a weak Pokémon or a strong Pokémon with a joke moveset (such as Mega Rayquaza only using Twisteror a Mega Beedrill with a Special set).
** Take a six pack if it ends up on Website/YouTube as an Epic Sweep/Full X Team.
* Take a sip when [[PowerfulButInaccurate Focus Blast]] misses. Also applies to similar moves like Stone Edge and Blizzard.
** Finish the glass if Focus Blast was that Pokémon's [[CripplingOverspecialization only unresisted answer to a certain threat]].
** Take three sips if it hits, and fails to [[OneHitKill OHKO]].
* Finish the glass if [[DeathOrGloryAttack High Jump Kick]] misses.[[labelnote:note]]Jump Kick and High Jump Kick deduct half your maximum HP if it fails to hit. [[/labelnote]]
** Down the bottle if the crash damage causes your Pokémon to faint.
* Take a shot when an opponent in a wireless match [[RageQuit Rage Quits]].
** Take another if you were about to win the match.
** Take a third if it was a ranking battle/competition. [[note]]Disconnecting too many times in these situations causes your profile to be banned from official online tournaments, making players much less likely to resort to Rage-Quitting.[[/note]]
** Take another if it's X and Y or later. [[note]]B2W2--which have since had their online features disabled--introduced a mechanic where a disconnect will ban the Ragequitter for an hour.[[/note]]
*** Finish your drink if ''you'' disconnected due to connection issues, barring you from online battles for an hour through no fault of your own.
* Now for the Kalos edition:
** Take a shot whenever Mega Evolution is brought up. Take an additional for each use of Mega Evolution.
** Take a shot whenever a character, particularly Viola, says "Fantastic!".
** Take a shot whenever a Flare Grunt talks about their fashion clothing or says that when they lose they "go out in style".
** Take a shot whenever you encounter a horde of Seviper and Zangoose or Heatmor and Durant, an additional sip for each attack made on the other over your Mon. Finish your drink if there's a shiny.
*** [[DrowningMySorrows Down the whole bottle and cry]] if it faints at the other Pokémons' hands [[ShaggyDogStory ,despite your efforts to save it]].
** Take a shot whenever you meet Mr. Bonding in a Hotel or the Pokémon Center.
** Take a shot whenever Tierno, Trevor, or Shauna appears, with one additional shot if they battle.
* Wonder Trade / Surprise Trade edition: when you Wonder/Surpise trade a mon, take a sip whenever you get any of the following:
** A {{Com Mon|s}}
** A starter from Gen I or the game you're playing
** Another species that appears on WT/ST a lot in the game you're playing (e.g. Dreepy in Gen VIII)
** A Pokémon with a crude, offensive, or just plain stupid nickname. Take another sip if...
*** It's a good Pokémon you'd want to use if it weren't for the terrible nickname.
*** It's a bad Pokémon whose nickname makes it obvious that the sender knew no one would want it (e.g. a level 3 Zigzagoon named "Bad Trade" or "Junk Mail")
*** An insult, e.g. a fat Pokémon named "YourMom". Take another sip if the Pokémon is holding a Burn Heal.
*** The nickname is misspelled.
*** The Pokémon is nicknamed after another Pokémon species. Take another sip if it's a non-Legendary named after a Legendary.
*** It's obvious that the Pokémon is hacked because the nickname would never get past the filter otherwise.
*** Down the whole bottle if the poor Pokémon is shiny.
*** Down the whole bottle if the Pokémon has a URL for a nickname.
** Other Pokémon that were clearly sent out to troll:
*** A Pokémon that evolves by trading and is holding an Everstone (which prevents evolution).
*** A level 100 not-fully-evolved Pokémon that evolves by levelling up, e.g. a level 100 Weedle or Magikarp. Alternatively, a level 99 Pokémon that evolves by levelling up twice (e.g. a level 99 Squirtle. That poor thing can become a Wartortle, but never a Blastoise). [[AntiFrustrationFeatures This one doesn't apply for Gen VIII and later, as you can evolve level 100 Pokémon by simply using a Rare Candy on them.]]
** Take a big gulp and spit it out if you get a legendary or a shiny.[[labelnote:note]]Don't worry, you won't waste any.[[/labelnote]]
*** Go ahead and swallow the gulp in shock if it's a shiny Legendary.
*** Drink again if the shiny Legendary has very good potential ([=IVs=]).
*** Down the whole bottle if it has obvious hack signs like a Japanese name and English origin.
** A Pokémon with a terrible moveset. Take a shot if it's clear that the sender went out of their way to make the moveset terrible (e.g. a Gyarados that only knows Splash, or a Legendary that knows four [=HMs=]).
* GTS rules:
** Take a small drink if you go on the GTS for a specific Pokémon, and you see someone asking for either a Mythical Pokémon or a Legendary for a small fry Pokémon. Two drinks if it's very low-levelled and they're expecting a much higher level.
** Take two if the common Pokémon has a message indicating that the Pokémon requested is from a giveaway.
** Take a drink whenever someone asks for an impossible Pokémon (e.g. a female of a male-only species).
** Take two gulps whenever someone tries to trick people with any of the following BlatantLies:
*** Claiming that the offered Pokémon is shiny when a quick glance at it will tell you that it isn't.
*** Claiming that the offered Pokémon is holding a valuable item when it isn't.
*** Renaming their Phione "Manaphy".
*** Claiming that the Pokémon has more than 6 perfect [=IVs=]. (Yes, this happens. Stuff like "10IV" has been seen. Presumably, we're dealing with clueless players trying to one-up people who offer 6IV Pokémon.)
** Take a sizeable drink if you go to the GTS for trade evolutions, and the other people are asking for the evolved form (ie Kingdra or Golem). Take two if it's someone offering a Karrablast/Shelmet for Accelgor/Escavalier respectively.
** Take a drink if you encounter a trade that was clearly made because the offerer was too lazy to level up their Pokémon themself (e.g. asking for a level 91+ Charizard and offering a level 50 Charizard or a low-level Charmander/Charmeleon).
** Take a drink whenever someone asks for a shiny without offering something valuable in return. Two drinks if the word "shiny" is misspelled.
** Take a big gulp and [[SpitTake spit it out]] if you sent a ComMon requesting a valuable Pokémon to do a self-trade and pass up your items, and someone actually accepted the trade for some reason (and yes, it happens).
* Take a shot if your opponent [[DidntSeeThatComing whips out a move you weren't expecting]] and it kills you.
** Take another if it's a [[LimitBreak Z-move]].
* Similar to the above, every time you use a [[LimitBreak Z-move]] or a [[SuperMode Mega Evolution]], [[DrunkWithPower take a drink]].
** Take another drink in shame if you fail to do anything of profit with the Z-move or the Mega faints without defeating anybody.
* If playing R/B/Y, take a shot when your character thinks something to themselves. (e.g. "Yuck! Shouldn't have looked!")
** Chug an entire bottle when your character actually talks to someone.
* Battle Maison Edition:
** Take a sip each time that an opponent [[OneHitKill lands a OHKO move]].
*** Also take a sip for each time after the first that they land a low-accuracy move.
** Take a sip for every questionable moveset choice (ie Mightyena using Shadow Ball, offensive Blissey, etc.)
*** Take another if they win the match regardless.
** If you lose your streak, take a sip for every ten battles in you were, rounded up.
*** If you were just a couple wins away from a Lansat (100 wins) or Starf (200 wins) berry, take a six pack.
** Take a sip for every unreleased Hidden Ability the opponent has.
** Take a sip for every Legendary they use. [[TheComputerIsACheatingBastard Only applies to ones you're banned from using]].
*** Take another if you lose.
* Take a sip every time you have to restart the [[spoiler:Ultra Necrozma]] fight [[ThatOneBoss because it keeps pounding your team]].
* Max Raid Battle edition:
** If playing online, take a sip for every slot that has to be filled by an AI.
** If someone shows up with a Pokémon that's weak to the boss, take a shot. (The AI trainers are exempt from this [[LuckBasedMission for obvious reasons]], as are players with [[WeaponOfXSlaying Zacian and Eternatus]].)
** Take a sip every time an AI trainer makes a pointless move. If Martin shows up with his Solrock or Alfie with his Wobbuffet, just drink a glass in advance; you'll need it anyway.
** Take a sip if you lose a single-player raid. Upgrade to a shot if it was a ''multiplayer'' raid.
** Take a shot if you fail to catch a Gigantamax Pokémon. [[DrowningMySorrows Down a whole bottle if it was shiny.]]
** Take a sip every time you attempt to connect to somebody else's raid and fail.
* When playing ''Sword & Shield'' online, take a shot whenever your opponent's number is [[LOL69 69]], [[FourTwentyBlazeIt 420]], or [[NumberOfTheBeast 666]].

* Nuzlocke Challenge Rules:
** Solemnly toast the memory of any Pokémon that dies.
** Drink every time you thought a Pokémon would die, [[FakeKillScare but it survives]].
*** Generation 6 and onward only: Another if it only held on because of it's high affection.
*** Another [[HopeSpot if it survives]] only to die from a status ailment(burn, poison, confusion, leech seed, etc) immediately after.
*** Take a [[HellYesMoment celebratory shot]] if the Pokémon ''would'' have subsequently died of burn or poison, but shakes it off the same turn.
** Take a drink for every ComMon you have to capture. Make it a shot if you're running the Dupe Clause.
*** Take sip every time that ComMon proves to be a LethalJokeCharacter.
** Drink a six-pack if you [[TotalPartyKill white-out/black-out.]] Drink another if you were running the optional "White Out=GameOver" rule.
*** If your team survives [[PyrrhicVictory but with heavy casualties]], drink one drink from that six-pack for every Pokémon that died.
** Drink if you actually get a chance to make use of the Shiny Clause. Drink more if it allows you catch a Pokémon you really wanted, or allows you to make a second catch on a route you got something useless on the first time.
** Drink [[ThisIsGonnaSuck to prepare]] if the Pokémon you were counting on to sweep a Gym (or other major battle) dies with the hardest parts left to go.
** Drink if a Pokémon dies as you're level grinding it. Take another if [[WeHardlyKnewYe it was such a recent addition that it was never technically used.]]
** Take a shot if a critical hit, an unlucky status effect, or recoil knocks out a Pokémon you could have captured. Take two if it was Struggle.
** If you find yourself facing the Elite Four with an incomplete team, take a drink for every empty slot. Make them shots if you have Pokémon in the PC but can't use them due to other optional rules you've imposed on yourself. Finish your drink if you decide "Screw it" and break those optional rules so you can have a full team of six for the Elite Four(doesn't count if [[CrazyPrepared you had an addendum for that in advance]]).
** Take a drink if you're facing the legendary you [[ButThouMust have to catch to continue the game]]. Take a shot if you knock it out(or something else botches the attempt) and consequently have to put the rules on standby for subsequent attempts so you can actually finish the game. If this happens, take another sip for every attempt it takes to actually catch it.
** If you're playing ''Sun'' or ''Moon'', take a sip for every Ultra Beast you [[ButThouMust have to catch]] even if it's outside Nuzlocke rules. Make it a shot if the encounter is actually within the rules, make it two if it's without the Dupe Clause. Make the shots normal drinks if [[LoopholeAbuse you used Repels]].
** Take a drink if a Pokémon dies in the process of catching another. If more than one dies, take a drink for every Poémon that died.
*** Take a shot if you [[ShaggyDogStory failed to catch the Pokémon anyway.]] Two if it was Struggle that knocked it out. Three if it's a plot-mandated capture so you have to try again with a partial team.
*** Take two drinks if you [[PyrrhicVictory manage to catch the Pokémon after all]], only for it to die in battle soon after.
*** Finish your drink if you [[KnowWhenToFoldEm give up on catching it.]]
