!!!''Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG'' provides examples of:

[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder:S]]
%%* SacrificialLamb: Roger Remous and Thaddeus Brickhouse.
* SacrificialLion:
** PBB, considering that he was a major character of the ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG'' and was also a close friend of Rex in ''Dino Attack RPG'' itself before he was killed off.
** [[spoiler:Dust]], considering that he was a nomad who had survived on his own wits and skills for many years ''and'' a very important character of the Adventurers' Island story arc before dying at the end of his own character arc.
** [[spoiler:Amanda Claw]], considering that she was one of the most important and longest-running characters of ''Dino Attack RPG'', and yet she was intended to die in the FinalBattle.
* SaidBookism: [=PeabodySam=] is especially guilty of this, avoiding the word "said" like it was the plague. He even falls into the trap of using verbs that aren't a form of speech, such as "grinned" or "shrugged", just to avoid using "said". Many poorly-used bookisms (such as the aforementioned "grinned" and "shrugged") are removed by the Director's Cut.
* SailorEarth: The original Dino Attack team was made up of four guys. The RPG has introduced over 237 additional members of the team, both men and women.
* SaloonOwner: Being [[TheBartender bartenders]] and secret-keepers of two notorious mercenaries, Bartholomew and Carrie Enderson have some traits of Saloon Owners.
* SameCharacterButDifferent:
** It turns out that Septimus, the loveable and naive Skeleton Drone, was actually Swerve from the Alpha Team [=RPGs=]. Justified, in that he was subjected to a [[{{Brainwashed}} Mind-Control Orb]] and suffered from LaserGuidedAmnesia, and upon rediscovering his true identity, started acting more like his old self again.
** Similarly, [[TheHermit Ben Gunn]] was an appealing character because his constant senile musing and philosophies made him an amusing character to read. After getting hit by a ton of rocks that apparently cured his senility, Ben Gunn became very different in personality, now dark and serious instead of naive and amusing.
* SameSurnameMeansRelated: Kate Bishop and Wallace Bishop, both introduced during the Adventurers' Island story arc, happen to share the same surname. Atton Rand noticed this coincidence and decided to make it a SignificantNameOverlap, with the reveal that Wallace is Kate's uncle.
* {{Samurai}}: Solomon had formal training in Japan.
* SamusIsAGirl:
** None of the founding members realized that Pterisa was female until she spoke.
** Played With in the case of Pyro. It was originally {{Averted|Trope}}, since [=PeabodySam=] confirmed that Pyro was male, and then Double Subverted, when the mask came off and Pyro turned out be a girl, and then ''Triple'' Subverted when recent developments revealed that Pyro was male all along and [[SweetPollyOliver the girl was actually posing as Pyro]].
* SandInMyEyes: Greybeard was definitely ''not'' crying during the final battle. It was raining very hard, and [[{{Understatement}} there was a leak in the roof]], in case you haven't noticed.
* SanitySlippage:
** Dr. Rex, whose sanity has been slowly slipping for over fifty years before being rapidly accelerated in recent times.
** The war hasn't exactly had a positive effect on Lance's mind.
** Athena Fabello's sanity began slipping after the death of her husband and her alcoholism to cope. Her son Oswald's sanity started slipping after the Dino Attack began. He finally went off the slippery slope when learned the Darkitect was real and murdered his mother.
** Carl Lutsky really went off the deep end.
** The mounting stress and tension of the Dino Attack, combined with [[spoiler:the news of [[YourDaysAreNumbered his days being numbered]]]] and the paranoia of the mole hunt, hasn't exactly had a positive effect on Rex's mind.
** After Andrew Jackson's family was killed, [[InsaneEqualsViolent his sanity really went off the slippery slope]].
* SarcasmBlind: Ronald E. Army was never actually a general, but truly thought that he was promoted to that rank after a sarcastic statement by the LEGOLAND president.
* SaveTheJerk: During the final battle, Frozeen goes out of his way to save Grease from Mutant Raptors, despite Grease being nothing but a jerk and a bully to Frozeen.
* SavedByCanon:
** Canon LEGO characters could not be killed for this reason.
** After November 2005, the Dino Attack had a ForegoneConclusion that the Dino Attack Team would ultimately defeat the Mutant Dinos.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: Hotwire and Kat in the early days of the RPG. Inverted by Kate and Lance. While Lance is the more energetic, trigger happy individual, Kate is much more cautious and knows the danger she's gotten into.
* ScaledUp: Dr. Rex became a Mutant T-Rex. Okay, so it's not a snake, but dinosaurs are usually considered reptiles, so it's close enough.
* ScarsAreForever:
** General is still covered with burn scars, Greybeard has refused any prosthetic eye replacements, Rex is stuck with limp legs, Dust's right hand is dead, Hotwire has refused a mechanical leg, and Talia won't consider plastic surgery for her scars.
** Zig-Zagged with Frozeen. Like General, he had burn scars [[ExactWords for the rest of his life]]. ''[[BackFromTheDead After]]'' his life, on the other hand, all scars were removed and he was restored to his pre-G.E. Body appearance.
* ScarsAreUgly: After much attention was given to Talia Kaahs due to her stunning beauty, her face ends up mauled by a Mutant Raptor and becomes tarnished by hideous scars. Afterward, people tend to react to her scarred appearance with horror and fear, or sadness and pity.
* ScareEmStraight: Talia Kaahs does this to Dr. Ronald Alexander in Timeline 1958-D, revealing his horrible future and convincing him to change course before it's too late.
* SchizoTech:
** The entire LEGO Universe, as depicted in ''Dino Attack RPG''. We have knights and pirates shooting crossbows and flintlock pistols alongside astronauts and cyborgs shooting lasers and sonic weapons as all sorts of technology levels coexist in this world.
** The Space Knights are a specific example, since their entire culture is based on MedievalStasis enhanced by futuristic technology.
* SchmuckBait: The secret black operations Antarctica mission was explicitly said to be a secret mission because, if word ever got out that [[UnsafeHaven Mutant Dinos were invading Antarctica]] (not to mention that Shadow and Viper agreed to this mission behind Digger's back), the consequences would be dire. Unfortunately, Atton Rand was WrongGenreSavvy and believed that [=PeabodySam=] [[ReversePsychology wanted players to spread word about the mission]], and so with the help of newly-created [=NPCs=] Cam O'Cozy and French Fries, he let Zenna spread the news that there were Mutant Dinos in Antarctica and realists were going behind the backs of idealists. Needless to say, dire consequences followed.
* SchrodingersCanon:
** Works by Mustache Maniacs Film Co. that take place in Dimension 525 are not acknowledged as canonical by ''Dino Attack RPG'', but can be considered unofficial canon as long as they do not contradict the RPG's definitive canon.
** [=PeabodySam's=] official stance on the Director's Cut is that it is an interpretation of the RPG that applies artistic license to fix any CanonDiscontinuity. Whether or not these artistic license changes are canon is up to the reader, until they are referenced in other Expanded Universe.
* ScienceIsBad:
** While this trope may be invoked, since two very science-based organizations (XERRD and [=ShadowTech=]) have far-from-clean records, this trope is actually [[AvertedTrope averted]] by the inclusion of scientists such as Frank Einstein, Reptile, and Fuchs working for the Dino Attack Team.
** [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] and [[DefiedTrope defied]] by Rex, who pointed out that science's purpose is to benefit mankind, not to justify holocausts.
* ScienceWizard: Several scientists working for XERRD, including Dr. Carolyne Provencal and Dr. Raul Barabbas, are also Paradox Sorcerers practicing black magic.
* ScopeSnipe: Barry Jackson got lucky and managed to pull one of these against a XERRD sniper.
* ScrewTheWarWerePartying:
** They might be trying to stop an invasion of mutant dinosaurs, but that doesn't exactly stop Rotor from sitting down and listening to some classical music once in a while.
** After successfully retaking a third of Gold City, the Second Headquarters Squad celebrated in a local tavern. Ironically, this rendered the team vulnerable to the Hybrids' strike back (it did not help that [[TheAlcoholic Demoman]] had a hangover as a result).
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere:
** The Minifig/Mutant Lizard Hybrids deserted Enox Phorm, especially after realizing that Enox thought of them as expendable.
** Trigger quickly realized he was in over his head with the Silencia issue and took a brief period of distraction to escape, and [[BoxedCrook Snake]] decided that his promised pardon didn't matter (seeing as he has no intention of reforming, the pardon wouldn't last long, as he'd soon be giving the police other reasons to start hunting him again), so they both decided to ditch the team and make a run for it (and then Snake went and ditched Trigger in an attempt to get away). Montoya was mistaken for such, but he wasn't actually a part of the team to begin with, and was really just trying to get home.
* SdrawkcabName: "XERRD" is "Dr. Rex" spelled backwards.
* SeaMonster:
** Mutant Vinscale Octomus, an already-dangerous Kraken-like monster mutated via the same means as Mutant Dinos (presumably involving the Maelstrom). Luckily, the only known Mutant Vinscale Octomus swarm was wiped out thanks to [[BadGuysDoTheDirtyWork Evil Ogel]] and General.
** The octosaur, a strange octopus-like creature mixed with mutant dino DNA. Technically, it was mainly living in the good caverns, but the fact that one took a Coast Guard ship by surprise and quickly sunk it some time afterwords proves that they are still a formidable threat that could strike at any time.
%%* SeadogBeard: Greybeard and Coral.
* SealedGoodInACan: Type 2 example with Talia Kaahs, Pterisa, and the prototype Mutant Dinos while they were held in stasis in the Dino Island Laboratory.
* SeamlessSpontaneousLie: Garry's managed to make a few in an effort to cover up his role in torturing prisoners.
* SecondActBreakUp: Shortly before the mission which led to the discovery of the Dino Island Laboratory, Amanda and Rex broke up. Not due to any misunderstandings or anger between them... but because they both accepted that their relationship couldn't go much farther when they were completely different species. Luckily, this was resolved by the end of the mission, since a freak accident in the lab caused Rex and Dr. Rex to switch bodies, so now Rex and Amanda are both the same species and free to continue their relationship.
* SecretKeeper: Bartholomew Enderson to Silencia Venomosa and [[DistaffCounterpart Carrie Enderson]] to Trigger.
* SecretSecretKeeper: Frozeen deduced Silencia Venomosa's identity several hours before asking Amanda for confirmation.
* SecretUndergroundPassage:
** A SecretUndergroundPassage connects Dinosaur Island to the sewage and subway systems of LEGO City.
** Cabin discovered one to be discovered under the XERRD Fortress, through which Strangebrick, Jenny, and Tom apparently managed to escape the fortress and past the Dino Attack Agents stationed outside.
* SecretlyDying: [[spoiler:Rex]], who was keeping his fatal condition a secret in an effort to boost Dino Attack Team's morale.
* SelfDeprecation:
** According to Frozeen, he is as bad at handling romance as "a socially-inept college freshman writing a poor fan fiction full of lousy [[invoked]]{{Romantic Plot Tumor}}s." Seeing as most of ''Dino Attack RPG'''s players were in their early college years or late high school years while writing ''At War's End'', and a number of players (including [=PeabodySam=], that guy from that show, and avmatoran) have admitted to having difficulty writing romance, this is intended as a playful TakeThat to the writers of ''Dino Attack RPG''.
** In the Director's Cut, Dr. Rex makes a TakeThat to the GeorgeLucasAlteredVersion of ''Franchise/StarWars'', claiming that nothing beats the original. [=PeabodySam=] has compared his own edits in the Director's Cut to George Lucas's edits of ''Star Wars'', making this jab an example of this trope.
* SelfMadeOrphan: [[spoiler:Oswald Fabello upon shooting Athena.]]
* SenseLossSadness: Hertz after loosing his hearing in an explosion.
* SenselessSacrifice: Although [[spoiler:Semick and Swerve/Septimus]] slowed down Dr. Rex's charge, Pointman's sacrifice... really did not accomplish much in the grand scheme of things. [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by the comm chatter and briefly addressed by [=Andrewnuva199=] when discussing [[spoiler:Semick]]'s [[HeroicSacrifice sacrifice]].
* SentryGun: Engineer set up a few of these throughout Dino Attack Headquarters, only to find them disabled by [[TheMole XERRD's mole]].
* SeparatedAtBirth: Rex and Chompy were both hatched in the same brood, but Chompy was taken away and adopted by Frozeen when he was still a hatchling.
%%* SergeantRock: Rotor, Lutsky, and Ronald E. Army.
* SeriousBusiness: In the FinalBattle, when a large number of Dino Attack agents used the comm chatter to crack jokes or make silly references, one Dino Attack agent attempted to ShooOutTheClowns by telling them to stop making jokes and references and start concentrating on the battle, using the comm chatter only for coordinating attacks and strategies. This example is largely PlayedForLaughs, since this one Dino Attack agent is apparently the only one trying to use the comm chatter for its intended purpose in the battle, yet everyone completely ignores him (or, in one agent's case, openly mocks him with a quote from ''Series/MontyPythonsFlyingCircus'') and continues using the comm chatter for less-than-serious commentary.
* SexySoakedShirt: Naomi has a sexy soaked scrubs scene when she steps under the hole in the roof into the waterfall of rain above the teleportation pad.
* ShaggyDogStory: The [[UndergroundLevel Goo Caverns]] StoryArc was all about reinforcing the unstable caverns so that Dino Attack Team could mine Green Goo. It ended with the Goo Caverns being mostly destroyed in a volcano eruption, causing Dino Attack's income of Green Goo to be slowed to a mere trickle.
* ShatteredWorld: The Torn World, consisting of a deconstructed LEGO Island floating in space.
* SheIsAllGrownUp: Talia Kaahs in the eyes of George Ogel and Ronald Alexander in the 1957 flashback.
* ShedTheFamilyName: Blaire did this after falling out with his parents and running away from home.
* ShellShockedVeteran:
** Lance Williams. Technically, he hasn't been in the team for long, but it has had a significant impact on his mind.
** The horrors of war left Kate Bishop and Sam Race in a state where they must both seek counseling and psychiatric sessions to help cope with their PTSD.
* ShiftingSandLand: Adventurers' Island features an expansive desert that players can visit. It has everything from [[BuildLikeAnEGyptian pyramids and sphinxes]] to [[AllDesertsHaveCacti cacti]].
* ShipTease: There's one of these to Pepper Roni/Luna Rom shippers during the LEGO Island celebration.
* ShipperOnDeck: Zachary Virchaus and Minerva Fabello both support Vinyatooth. One random unnamed agent in the final battle supports Vinyareno.
* ShirtlessScene: The infamous image of Dust that informed all players of the RPG that Dust did not need a shirt.
* ShockAndAwe: Pterisa and Mutant Pterosaurs have the ability to shoot lightning.
* ShoehornedAcronym: It features the nonsensical and unpronounceable acronym "H.R.D.B." for the [[NinjaPirateZombieRobot Holographic Robotic Dinosaur Bomb]]. In ''Love and War'', it's lampshaded by Zero:
-->'''Finister''': The Holographic... Robotic... Dinosaur... Bomb! Or, for short, the H.R.D.B.!
-->'''Zero''': Which spells... 'Hurduhbuh'? Looks like someone's not very good at coming up with creative acronyms, either.
-->'''Finister''': Oh, shut up!
* ShooOutTheClowns: One Dino Attack agent attempted (and failed) to stop people from using the radio to make jokes and references during the final battle's DarkestHour.
* ShooOutTheNewGuy: Near the end of the FinalBattle, Atton Rand introduced a cast of characters consisting of ''[[Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer Buffy]]'' {{Exp|y}}ies and [[SpotlightStealingSquad put the spotlight on them]], expecting that his fellow players would enjoy these new additions to the cast. Instead, other players were tired of so many Expies characters in the RPG, and the last thing they wanted was another group of Expies based on a show they did not watch introduced at the last minute and expected to share the spotlight with the main cast. As a result, Atton Rand quickly shooed out the ''Buffy'' Expies, and they were never mentioned again.
* ShootTheDog:
** After J.D. was shot and fatally wounded, Wade first tried to help Pierce keep J.D. alive even though he knew they could not do anything for him and that he was most likely in extreme pain, and then tried to give him an overdose of morphine in order to quickly kill him.
** In the Director's Cut, Rev is forced to shoot and kill Landro when he realizes that his father is so far gone after murdering Sereve and mortally wounding Rev.
* ShootTheShaggyDog: The entire Trigger/Silencia flashback. Two rival companies are so determined to dominate each other in the market that they begin hiring mercenaries against each other. In the end, the plans for Dacta's latest products are destroyed (burned after the car crashed), the presidents of both companies are dead, several innocent bystanders have been killed (need I remind you that all this was simply to make a profit), and what ultimately happens? Both companies suffer for it while another uninvolved company exploits their losses in order to rise to the top of the market.
* ShootTheMedicFirst:
** Stromling Zachary made an explicit point of killing J.D., though it wasn't so much because he was a medic as it was because he was worried about him finding a cure to the Maelstrom.
** Brought up by Minerva when Fuchs offered to help her find Zach, though technically he's actually a biologist, not a medic like Wade or Pierce.
** It was mentioned in a passing line in ''[[WhatIf December 21, 2010]]'' that all of the Dino Attack Team's medics were killed. This may have been a deliberate strategy by the Maelstrom to Shoot the Medics First and eliminate all hope for medical attention.
** Medic was the second member of Second Headquarters Squad to be killed by TheMole. While he and J.D. are the only on-screen casualties, it is made clear that many of the villains have no problem shooting medics.
** A proposed but ultimately abandoned sequence would have seen Pierce accidentally murder Crusher.
* ShootingSuperman: In ''For Want of Nails'', Nails shoots Fogel when he approaches her, despite it already being obvious at that point that Fogel's G.E. Body is ImmuneToBullets.
* ShotgunsAreJustBetter:
** Averted; out of all the weapons available to the team, shotguns are probably the least common weapon of choice (yes, they are less common than ''flintlock pistols'').
** They've become a bit more popular recently. Montoya owns a shotgun, although he never used it. Given he's a civilian, the gun is probably meant as little more than a last resort if he needs to defend himself. A shotgun is also the primary choice of weapon for one Sarah Bishop. Soldier also carried a shotgun during TheMole hunt, and Rex himself wielded a shotgun during the later stages of the FinalBattle.
* ShoutOut: [[ShoutOut/DinoAttackRPG So many, they have their own page]].
* ShoutOutThemeNaming:
** Many of Atton Rand's characters were inspired by characters from other works. Their names are often a combination of the first name of the actor who played the character and the last name of the person. For example:
*** Alan Pierce- [[http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000257/ Alan Alda]], who played Benjamin Franklin Pierce in Film/{{Mash}} ("Donald" was considered as a middle name, which would have referred to Donald Sutherland, who plays him in the movie).
*** Giovanni Wade- [[http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000610/ Giovanni Ribisi]], who played Irwin Wade in ''Film/SavingPrivateRyan''.
*** Gates Crusher- [[http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000533/ Gates McFadden]], who played Dr. Beverly Crusher on ''Series/StarTrekTheNextGeneration''.
*** Noomi Shaw- [[http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0636426/ Noomi Rapace]], who played Elizabeth Shaw in ''Film/{{Prometheus}}''.
*** Barry Jackson- Barry Pepper, who played Private Daniel Jackson in ''Film/SavingPrivateRyan''.
*** Kurt [=MacReady=]- [[http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000621/ Kurt Russel]], who played R.J. [=MacReady=] in ''Film/TheThing1982''.
*** Inverted with Garry Moffat. The last name was taken from actor [[http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0595567/ Donald Moffat]] who played Garry in ''Film/TheThing1982''. This was because the film never stated the last name of the character.
** Not in the RPG itself, but on the wiki: each RPG's article has an example post where one player asks a second player an OOC question. The second player's username, to fit the fan website Platform/BZPower where these [=RPGs=] were hosted, is always a cheesy pun referencing the Toa Mata from ''Toys/{{BIONICLE}}'': [=TahuIsHot555, KopakaIsCool555, PohatuRocks555, and IReallyDigOnua555=].
* ShowWithinAShow:
** Andrew, Laxus, Joike, and Dr. Cyborg take a bit of time before the final battle to relax, watch ''[[Toys/LEGOStudios Dino Cop]]'', and mercilessly riff it.
** ''For Want of Nails'' features the in-universe radio show ''Hindsight is 2020''.
* ShownTheirWork: When writing Shiller's surgery, Atton Rand actually did some research on the proper procedures for dealing with internal bleeding and a collapsed lung. As he himself is not a doctor, there are probably still mistakes, but their actions were based on the methods he read about.
* ShrinkingViolet: Pterisa displays some of these traits when she's feeling insecure about herself.
* ShutUpHannibal: Greybeard, and later Minerva Fabello, to [[spoiler:the Darkitect]] when he attempts to BreakThemByTalking.
* SickeningCrunch: Heard after a pack of Mutant Raptors were trapped in a crushing room.
* SidekickExMachina: Libo and Frozeen, who are far more experienced and capable than Rex.
* SilenceOfSadness: The backstory of Amanda Claw reveals that she witnessed her parents being murdered when she was only a child. She was so depressed by this tragedy that she stopped speaking altogether and became an ElectiveMute.
* SilenceYouFool: [[spoiler:The Darkitect]] is fond of this, especially in response to Frank Einstein.
* SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids:
** The viewpoint of Dino Attack Team's realist agents.
** Rex, the extreme idealist who tamed and never wounded a Mutant Dino, is actually slowly falling victim to this trope. This was most obvious when, during the battle in the LEGO Island Laboratory, he ''beat a Mutant Lizard to death with a metal pipe'', followed by a moment of MyGodWhatHaveIDone
* SinisterSubway: The LEGO City subway system, which has become dark, abandoned, and infested with Mutant Dinos.
* SinisterSuffocation: Finister, the AlternateTimeline counterpart of the fittingly-named Sam Sinister, uses a torture device of his own design called the Truth Receiver. As a ShoutOut to the Scream Extractor from ''WesternAnimation/MonstersInc'', the Truth Receiver is essentially a giant vacuum that repeatedly suffocates its victims without letting them pass out. Its horrific nature is especially played up in the Director's Cut, in which it highlights Finister as the cruelest member of FUTURE. When Finister reveals that he killed Roger Remous with the Truth Receiver, Rex notes that it must have been a ghastly way to die.
* SirSwearsALot: Trigger, Rotor, and Snake.
* SkeletonsInTheCoatCloset: The alpha queen T-Rex dresses up for battle by wearing a T-Rex skull helmet and a Minifig skull necklace, which was likely adorned upon her by the [=TumTum=] Islanders.
* SkipToTheEnd: Greybeard sped up Amanda and Rex's WartimeWedding due to the fact that they were in the middle of a battle.
* SlashedThroat:
** Maria killed a few hybrids this way in Fort Legoredo.
** Also in the Trigger/Amanda flashback this was revealed to be the fate of Orange and implied to have happened to Verbal.
** Medic, Scout, and Heavy were killed this way by [[TheMole XERRD's mole]].
* SlaveMooks: The Mutant Dinosaurs are first controlled by Dr. Rex and XERRD. [[spoiler:After Dr. Rex is possessed by the Darkitect, they become more direct slaves of the Maelstrom.]]
* TheSleepless:
** A good chunk of the cast between the the end of the first RPG and the beginning of ''At War's End'', which began the exact same night. Pretty much everyone at Outpost 4 except Fuchs was up for a large portion of the night (out of all of them Garry probably got the most sleep), not to mention the doctors and so forth. Somewhat justified, as they had an urgent need to regroup as soon as possible, though it is somewhat odd that Crusher was the only one who really seemed tired.
** Following the FinalBattle, many of the medics were noticeably exhausted, and were only really staying awake to keep looking after the wounded. Pierce even gave Wade and Martinet direct orders to get some sleep while he kept working, though they didn't obey them. It also didn't take very long for Dr. Shaw to fall asleep after the battle ended. Justified, as stress is likely a contributing factor.
* SlidingScaleOfGenderInequality:
** Somewhere around level 5. Equality does exist between men and women, but TheSmurfettePrinciple does come into play. Out of the few women in or assisting the team, at least one is an inexperienced rookie (Kate), and three are medics (Zenna, Crusher, and Carver). However, there are a small selection of action girls, such as Cabin and Amanda Claw. Also, many elite agents (particularity Rotor) explicitly refer to those under their command as their men, regardless of how many people of each gender are actually present. Most redshirts tend to be male as well.
*** Level 5 was invoked just before the final battle. When one male Dino Attack agent bemoaned the fact that he was never going to see his "wife and kids" again, a female Dino Attack agent immediately followed up by lamenting the fact that she was never going to see her "husband and kids" again.
** El Paso seems to exist around level 2, with many male characters expressing outdated and esxist views towards the role of women in society. It's one of the reasons why Maria became such a strong activist.
* SlidingScaleOfVillainThreat:
** Most ''Dino Attack RPG'' villains are Global Threats, but for different reasons. For example, while FUTURE planned on World Domination, XERRD is more focused on bringing about the apocalypse.
** [[spoiler:The Darkitect]] is a rare example of a Universal Threat, since he planned on using the Dino Attack to [[OmnicidalManiac destroy the entire universe]].
* SlippedTheRopes: Rex [[BreakingTheBonds breaks free]] of his net[[note]]handcuffs in the Director's Cut[[/note]] long before revealing this to the [=ShadowTech=] agent interrogating him, at which point he uses the element of surprise to make his escape with Hyrode and Kai.
* SlippySlideyIceWorld: Antarctica and Vikings Isle are both regions that are permanently covered with ice and snow.
* TheSlowWalk: Used by [[spoiler:Trouble]] during the FinalBattle during his HeroicSecondWind. Even as Michelle Glados shot him repeatedly, he remained on his feet and kept walking towards her until he got within attacking range.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Dr. Inferno considers Blaire Darkling to be this.
* SmartBomb: The Einstein Device during its Doctor Device stage of development, where it would react with organic matter to produce larger and larger explosions.
* SmokingIsCool:
** Surprisingly used quite a lot for an RPG based on a LEGO line, [[DefiedTrope even though there is a strict "no smoking" policy in Dino Attack Headquarters]]. Many of Atton Rand's characters, especially his tougher ones are seen to smoke frequently, among them Snake, Trigger, Clint, and Angel Eyes.
** {{Defied|Trope}} by Amanda, who considered it insulting when Montoya offered her a cigarette. When one remembers that Bricassius was a smoker who burned her home down with a single cigarette, it becomes painfully obvious why Smoking is ''not'' Cool in her eyes.
* SmugSnake:
** Grease is very snobby and rude, acting like he's better than "outdated losers" like Alpha Team or Rock Raiders. However, he doesn't actually do anything to back up his smug attitude, and is seen running away from the Brickspider Bot or getting his butt handed to him by Mutant Raptors (resulting in him being rescued by some of the "outdated losers" that he previously insulted). Additionally, in Alpha Team RPG: Ogel's Last Stand, he got the snot beaten out of him by Frozeen, who was so irritated by the former's smug attitude that he was even willing to throw inter-agency relations out the window just to shut him up.
** Walter Breen is confident that his high-ranking status in XERRD gives him the authority to boss everyone around and act like he's the one in charge, and remains smug and arrogant through it all. In return, his fellow XERRD scientists despise him and, at one point, even shoot missiles at him just to get him to shut up.
** French Fries is sure that he is well-deserving of his elite agent ranking and believes that his supposed "friends in high places" will protect him from anyone who raises a finger against him. As such, he comes across as incredibly smug, even boasting to Rex's face that he supposedly ran over Trouble with a vehicle. The result is that he gets utterly humiliated: he is arrested, violently assaulted twice, stripped of his ranking, and discharged from the team, all the while unable to even put up a good fight.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple:
** Out of 90 primary characters, only Dromus and Zenna are female.
** There is currently a total of 277 named Dino Attack agents recorded on the official wiki. Out of those, there are only 31 female agents[[note]]Anya, Aravis, Baudelaire, Belle, Buffy, Cabin, Catless, Claw, Contest, Dromus, Fabello, Gromtin, Holly Vinyaya, Kara Wise, Katana, Kate Bishop, Lisa, Maria, Mercedes, Parr, Scope, Shock, Shona, Stealth, Willow, Wing, Wright, Wyldstyle, Zealot, Zelda, and Zenna[[/note]]. Of those 31, only five are elite agents[[note]]Cabin, Fabello, Gromtin, Mercedes, and Zenna[[/note]], in comparison to 30 male elite agents; prior to the Adventurers' Island StoryArc, there were no named female elite agents.
** Out of 29 named members, XERRD only has four female members[[note]]Carolyne Provencal, Ingrid Tromosø, Jennifer Strangebrick, and Michelle Glados[[/note]].
* {{Smurfing}}: [=MegaBloks=] is a noun, but also used in ''Dino Attack RPG'' as an adjective and a verb.
* SnakeCharmer: Parodied in ''Dear Sister'', where a man playing the flute in Cairo is startled when a snake pops out of a nearby basket.
* SnipeHunt: In order to get rid of Enter and Return by giving them some money and a fishing pole to catch a shark. PlayedForLaughs as [[AchievementsInIgnorance they came back 30 seconds later with a shark]].
* SniperDuel: A brief duel between Barry Jackson and an unidentified sniper working for XERRD.
* SniperRifle: Barry Jackson's weapon of choice. Of course this does make his codename a bit of a misnomer.
* SNKBoss: Dr. Rex is wearing [[MadeOfIndestructium invincible armor]] and [[spoiler:cannot be killed thanks to Baron Typhonus's DivineIntervention]]. Dude, is this even fair?
* SoProudOfYou:
** Frank Einstein to Kate Bishop, to motivate her and give her confidence to [[spoiler:stop the Darkitect]]. Not that it did any good once the deed was done...
** Also done with Athena Fabello to her daughter Minerva.
** General to Frozeen. Notice how all these examples happen when [[spoiler:the speaker is dying]]?
* SociopathicHero: Rotor has massacred his enemies while playing classical music, had an ''entire T-1 Typhoon'' crew put on trial because the pilot disobeyed orders (not to mention trying to have them all shot), ordered an inexperienced teenager into an enemy fortress filled with toxins, bombed said fortress while his own men ''might'' have still been inside, tortured children for fun... and did I mention that he's a good guy who ''[[DownerEnding nearly]]'' [[EarnYourHappyEnding earned his happy ending]]?
* SociopathicSoldier: Where to begin. Rotor massacres his enemies by the dozens, puts his own men on trial and tries to kill them, tortures children (which may or may not be just for fun)...
* SoleSurvivor:
** Carl Lutsky is the only survivor of at attack on his office building during the Dino Attack, a fact he takes vary hard.
** [[spoiler:With the sudden deaths of Amanda and Trigger, Montoya is now the last surviving participant of the failed heist on Mindstorms Inc.]]
* SomeoneHasToDie: [[spoiler:Rex realized this when he overheard the other elite agents trying to figure out how to power the Einstein Device, since they had no store of Imagination in Dino Attack Headquarters.]]
* SonicStunner: While it was merely implied by their names in the original toyline, ''Dino Attack RPG'' explicitly depicts the Sonic Screamer and Quintronic Sonic Beam Emitters as non-lethal sound-based weaponry.
* SpacePolice: Commando Holly Vinyaya and Officer Julius Kelp are [[Toys/LEGOSpacePolice Space Police]] officers who were sent to the LEGO Planet after hearing rumors of the Blacktron allying with a rogue Dino Attack Agent. They both ended up serving as Dino Attack Agents in other parts of the world.
* SpaceshipGirl: Kat, when she was in control of the ''Talon''.
* SpeaksFluentAnimal:
** Rex, Keys, Frozeen, and PBB can all communicate with dinosaurs.
** Dromus speaks the dinosaur language, but not very fluently; she only knows simple phrases like "yes", "no", and "back away now, or IllKillYou".
* SpeaksInShoutOuts: The comm chatter consists entirely of dialogue, most of which are rapid-fire references to pop culture.
%%* SpiderLimbs: Libo, Brickspider Bot v1.0, and Paulie Gonepus.
* SpiderPeople: The Brickspider Bot v1.0 is a robotic version of this trope. Its torso, arms, and head are that of the standard humanoid Brickster-Bot, while its lower half has four SpiderLimbs.
* SpiderTank:
** The ''Silver Scorpion'' and its fellow Scorpion Orb Launchers are modeled after scorpions.
** The Anti-Dino Machine was described as a HumongousMecha with four spider-like legs.
* SpikesOfVillainy:
** Just to erase any doubt about Anti-Kotua being seen as a bad guy, his ''Anti-Voltage'' airship has large spikes.
** Dr. Rex's silge armor is covered with spikes.
* SpinToDeflectStuff: The Minifig/Mutant Lizard Hybrids can spin their energized spears to reflect incoming attacks, even including sonic beams, back towards their enemies.
%%* SpiritualSuccessor: To ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG''.
* SplitPersonality:
** Invoked but not confirmed. Amanda Claw does not personally believe that she has split personality, simply considering her darker side the result of giving in to negative feelings, but to anyone else it would seem that she has two very separate personalities.
** Lance Williams is known to go from being calm and relatively quiet but good-natured to overly aggressive and trigger happy at the slightest sign of trouble.
** Oswald Fabello showed signs of this, alternating between being a caring older brother who wanted to keep his sister safe to a cold and easily angered psychopath.
* SplitTimelinesPlot: ''For Want of Nails'' features two ongoing stories: an interview in 2020 and the Dino Attack in 2010. It is eventually revealed that the two stories take place in separate timelines, with the divergence in the 2010 storyline with FUTURE's assassination of elite agent Nails.
* SpotTheImposter: Once word got out about at least [[TheMole two Stromlings]] in Outpost 4, the agents stationed there started to go somewhat crazy with paranoia. It also didn't help that they were never able to find any real way to determine who was infected and who wasn't apart from the ultraviolet light method, which depended on Dr. Cyborg to succeed; and Copper's theoretical blood test, which was already problematic as he only had blood samples from the people actually stationed at Outpost 31 before they were sabotaged by Palmer.
* SpotlightStealingSquad:
** For Atton Rand during the Adventurers' Island StoryArc, his NPC characters, especially Pierce, Kate, and Rotor, stole the spotlight from his primary character Zenna, to the point where she was eventually DemotedToExtra.
** The squad of ''[[Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer Buffy]]'' {{Exp|y}}ies, who were introduced late in the FinalBattle and were expected to take the spotlight from Atton Rand's more important characters like Rotor and Cabin. When other players didn't like that they stole the spotlight, [[ShooOutTheNewGuy they were promptly shoved out of the spotlight]].
* TheSquad: There are tons of these. This more or less sums up everyone working on Adventurers' Island, but we also have the Headquarters Squad, Second Headquarters Squad, Mecha Squad, GAIA Squad, and Third Headquarters Squad.
%%* TheSquadette: Cabin and Teri.
* SssssnakeTalk: The Ice Snake King speaks with elongated "s" sounds.
* StaringDownCthulhu: Only moments before her HeroicBSOD, Pterisa was confident and brave enough to actually stare down [[spoiler:the Darkitect]] himself.
%%* TheStarscream: Zed Provhezor.
* StartOfDarkness: The separation of Ronald and Catherine Alexander in their early childhoods can be pinpointed as the exact moment of Dr. Rex's Start of Darkness.
* StealthHiBye: Ben Gunn seems to be a master of this trope, especially the Stealth Bye.
* StealthPun:
** When Engineer attacked [[spoiler:Ata]], he hit [[spoiler:Ata]] [[WrenchWhack over the head with a wrench]]. The action of hitting one over the head can be described as "whacking". [[spoiler:Ata]] is [[TheMole XERRD's mole]] planted in Dino Attack Team. So what did Engineer do? He ''whacked a mole''.
** In ''Because Of You'', Talia's time machine includes mercury wells. Keeping in mind that the elemental symbol for mercury is Hg, this is a subtle reference to Creator/HGWells.
* StealthSequel:
** ''Dino Attack RPG'' is a sequel to ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG'', ''Alpha Team RPG: Ogel's Last Stand'', ''LEGO Pirates RPG'', ''LEGO Island RPG'', and ''LEGO Island 3'', although it doesn't advertise itself as such.
** A Stealth Prequel, in this case. The short story ''Cold Dishes'' has no explicit ties to ''Dino Attack RPG'' canon (or any hint, aside from a brief ShoutOut to ''WesternAnimation/TheLEGOMovie'', that it is in any way connected to Franchise/{{LEGO}}), but [=PeabodySam=] has confirmed that it is actually about Silencia Venomosa's revenge upon Don Bricassius, an integral part of Amanda Claw's backstory.
* SteelEarDrums: Played straight for the most part, though one notable aversion was when Hertz was deafened by a missile explosion during the FinalBattle.
* StepfordSmiler: If Silencia Venomosa is smiling and it is not a PsychoticSmirk, then it is a Type C example.
* StevenUlyssesPerhero:
** With a name like Grisbarba L. Pirata, [[SarcasmMode who would have guessed]] that he one day would have become a pirate with a gray beard?
** Although it was not his real name, Ronald Alexander loved going by his nickname Dr. Rex. [[SarcasmMode Who would have ever guessed]] that he would not only be a scientist, but also a T-Rex one day?
* StockCostumeTraits: Unsurprisingly.
** Nearly every MadScientist wears a lab coat (Walter Breen being one of the only exceptions), and Frank Einstein has the EinsteinHair.
** As {{pirate}}s, Coral wears a cavalier and Greybeard has a hook
** Spy, preferring the Film/JamesBond-esque style, goes for the TuxedoAndMartini look.
* StockForeignName:
** German: Dietrich Luzwheit.
** Russian: Ivan Tzenovich.
* TheStoic:
** Michelle Glados is reputed as the "master stoic", and anyone who can get under her skin [[NotSoStoic to cause her to show real emotion]] takes great pride in the ability.
** As the anonymous mysterious samurai, Pterisa was also a Stoic.
** According to [[TheBartender Bartholomew Enderson]], Silencia Venomosa was usually the Stoic.
* AStormIsComing: Used to foreshadow the FinalBattle.
* StormingTheCastle: The various attacks against the XERRD Fortress.
* StoryArc: Goo Caverns, LEGO Island/Antarctica, and Adventurers' Island.
* StrangeMindsThinkAlike:
** As a last-ditch idea, Zyra suggests knocking "shave and a haircut" to open one of the doors in the Ogel Control Center, and David is exasperated by the idea. On the other side of the door, an Aqua Drone proceeds to knock the "shave and a haircut" rhythm, much to Zenna's bewilderment.
** In the Director's Cut, Glide and Snake of Spades are both revealed to be the type of person who would imagine "[[Franchise/StarWars The Imperial March]]" playing whenever the ''Voltage'' appears.
** Both Silencia Venomosa and Keyser Soze make the same exact simile that compares hiring Venomosa for a non-lethal job to ordering fish at a steak resturaunt.
* StrawCharacter:
** Soldier appears to be racist and sexist, occasionally aiming insults at foreigners and women. Given that he is depicted as comically inept, his moments of racism and sexism are not intended to be taken seriously, especially since they result in Soldier getting hurt by whomever he happens to be insulting.
** Many realists, especially by Atton Rand during the idealist/realist conflict, were depicted as Straw Characters to show how "wrong" and "evil" the realist views were.
** Hoo boy. French Fries was such a StrawCharacter that it would be ''[[InsultToRocks insulting]]'' [[InsultToRocks to Straw Characters]] if we called him one.
* StrawLoser: The "[[VideoGame/MetalGear Solid Snake]]" Snake, who was introduced for no purpose other than to be beaten up to make the "[[Film/EscapeFromNewYork Snake Plissken]]" Snake look better in comparison.
* StrawMisogynist:
** Again, Soldier is sexist, and seeing that his sexist remarks usually get him beaten up by Maria, it's PlayedForLaughs.
** Pretty much every Western character that wasn't part of the team would also qualify, although this was mainly in keeping with their less high-end lifestyle as well as drawing inspiration from actual views of the Western era.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Minerva is described as looking extremely similar to her mother, Athena Fabello.
* {{Studiopolis}}: Toys/LEGOStudios is one of the available locations where players can travel. However, with the studios being abandoned and derelict during the Dino Attack, it's a lot less flashy than typical examples of this trope.
* StuffBlowingUp:
** Demoman in a nutshell.
** Pretty much the whole function of Reliable Excavation Deconstruction, which has had at least ''two'' employees who are willing to blow up anything they come across.
** The Dino Island Laboratory during the finale of the Brickster's attack.
*** And again during the final battle [[DeathFromAbove in the Brickster's custom T-1 Typhoon]].
** This was the note that [[spoiler:B and his friends]] [[DoNotGoGentle went out on]].
* SuddenNameChange:
** The FMB-Bots were consistently referred to as simply "Frozeen's Brickster-Bots" before their name was revealed on the wiki.
** Before the attack on the XERRD Fortress, XERRD was always referred to as "Dr. Rex's scientists". Once XERRD's name was revealed, everyone in-universe suddenly started referring to the organization by name. There was a flimsy in-universe explanation for this where Dino Attack Team only just found out the organization's name, and the information was quickly shared with the rest of the team.
* SuddenSequelDeathSyndrome:
** PBB and Goldbeard.
** If ''At War's End'' is considered a sequel to ''Dino Attack RPG'', then the deaths of Tracer, Aravis, Spino, and Raider count.
** After having such an important role in the ''Dino Attack RPG'', [[spoiler:Naomi Carver]] didn't even get through the ''teaser'' for ''[[Toys/LEGODino Dino 2012]]''.
* SuddenlyAlwaysKnewThat: As part of the gradual revelation of her backstory, Amanda Suddenly Always Knew how to be a deadly-efficient sniper during the attack on the XERRD Fortress.
* SuddenlySpeaking: Amanda Claw forsakes her vow of silence during the LEGO Island mission upon learning about Roger's death.
* TheSummation: The scene where [[spoiler:Ata]] is caught and revealed as TheMole. Rather weirdly, it was [[spoiler:Ata]] himself who revealed everything and Bogart, the detective ''specifically brought in to solve the case'', was completely absent.
* SuperSpeed: Due to some genetic experiments, Alpha was granted the ability to run extremely fast, even able to run through solid material.
* SuperWheelchair: Shannon Grimton's wheelchair has a minigun, a laser device, and a rocket launcher.
%%* SurferDude: Lance Williams, although he isn't really known to talk like one.
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** It happens a lot with Hertz. He makes absolutely no progress with his arm injury while it continues to be under stress. After fighting at the temple of creation and later at the headquarters, the injury actually worsens as any broken arm would when it is constantly brought through more and more pressure and trauma.
** It happens to a greater degree after he survives the explosion in the lounge. It would be impossible to live through a blast such as that without major trauma, and as result he sustains serious hearing damage from the blast. Impaired hearing following an explosion is not uncommon and it becoming permanently deaf is a real possibility.
%%* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: Palmer was supposed to be one for Zachary.
* TheSwarm:
** Mutant Dinos, especially Mutant Lizards, find their strength in numbers.
** In ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG'', a Vinscale Octomus was a rare sight. In ''Dino Attack RPG'', there was an entire swarm of Mutant Vinscale Octomus off the coast of LEGO City, which has thankfully been exterminated.
* SweetPollyOliver: A.J. Orange, who dressed up as her father to protect him from TheMole.
* SwirlyEnergyThingy: The Maelstrom vortex within the Maelstrom Temple took this form, and even sucked in [[spoiler:Zed Provhezor]] when he got too close.
* SwordAndGun: Greybeard's weapons of choice are a cutlass and a flintlock pistol.
* SwordFight:
** "Rex" and Anton Gaston have a sword duel in Greybeard's flashback/dream sequence.
** Blaire Darkling and Kareem Nazareno's duel near the end of the FinalBattle.
* SwordOverHead: In ''First Assignment'', Rex stood over an incapacitated Mutant Lizard while holding a butcher's knife, ready to end the lizard's life. He couldn't go through with it when he saw the fear in the lizard's eyes, leading him to spare its life (and eventually tame it and name it Trouble).
%%* SycophanticServant: Michelle Glados and Carolyne Provencal. Walter Breen [[spoiler:mistakenly]] believed Wallace Bishop to be a Sycophantic Servant.
* SymbolSwearing: Rare, but occasionally used by characters such as Commander Lutsky.
%%* SympatheticMurderBackstory: Amanda Claw.
* SympathyForTheDevil: After [[spoiler:the Darkitect's DivineIntervention granted Dr. Rex a FateWorseThanDeath]], many Dino Attack agents felt pity towards Dr. Rex. Even Rex, who moments prior proclaimed that Dr. Rex deserved to die a slow and painful death, realized that no one, not even Dr. Rex, deserved the terrible fate he met.
** Tropers/BrikmanMcStudz summed it up rather well:
-->'''Brikman [=McStudz=]''': "As I was reading that post, I felt just a very small shred of sympathy for Dr. Rex. Sympathy best described using a quote from a review by Creator/RogerEbert for the movie ''[[Film/{{Downfall}} Der Untergang]]'' (''Film/{{Downfall}}'') to describe sympathy toward Hitler in the film: "Sympathy I felt in the sense that I would feel it for a rabid dog, while accepting that it must be destroyed."
[[/folder]]

[[folder:T]]
* TagalongReporter:
** Just like in [[Toys/LEGODinoAttack the original line]], J. Theano for WDNO - Dino Radio.
** Scott is implied to have joined the team specifically to report on the FinalBattle. He even brought a camera and radio equipment so he could conduct interviews and report live to Antarctica.
* TailSlap: Dinosaurs, including non-mutants such as Razor and Chompy, often use this as an attack.
* TakeCareOfTheKids: [[spoiler:While he did not die, Wallace Bishop knew that his self-induced lobotomy would leave him only a shadow of the man he once was, so in his VideoWill addressed to Frank Einstein, he made it his LastRequest for Einstein to take care of the Bishop family, including his young niece Kate.]]
* TakeMyHand: Rex and Amanda during the battle against the Brickspider Bot in the Torn World.
* TakeOurWordForIt:
** Atton Rand is intentionally vague on the exact nature of some of Trigger's previous jobs, only making it clear that some of them were pretty brutal.
** Similarly, [=PeabodySam=] is not going into detail on what exactly happened with the assassination of Edward Korrupte. Based upon what little we know about it, it was ''not'' pretty.
* TakeThat:
** Every [[PardonMyKlingon cussword]] in ''Dino Attack RPG'' is an example of this.
** While not neccessarily meant to be totally insulting, Atton Rand was very surprised when Tesh Carrey called for the American Air Force to apprehend Rotor (even though he was the only known American in the team and since Rotor was not American, their air force wouldn't have the authority to arrest him). His response? Introducing a ''Canadian'' sent to perform that task.
** There were many TakeThat jabs made towards [[Toys/LEGOPowerMiners Power Miners]] at the beginning of the Goo Caverns story arc, especially since numerous Dino Attack RPG players were [[Toys/RockRaiders Rock Raiders]] fans who were discontent with the new Power Miners line.
** Elizabeth Winsor's "Mutant Dino repellant" consisted of Music/MileyCyrus, Music/JonasBrothers, and rap all being played at the same time, a TakeThat reflecting the musical tastes of ''Dino Attack'' RPG players, such as Atton Rand and [=PeabodySam=], who hated these forms of music.
** Atton Rand created an {{expy}} of [[VideoGame/MetalGear Solid Snake]] solely so he could write an indepth description of Snake's beating him up out of vengeance for trying steal credit from him. This was a TakeThat on two fronts, first towards the many players who mistook Snake for an expy of Solid Snake, and second toward Solid Snake himself for being what Atton Rand mistakenly believed to be "shameless knock-off" of [[Film/EscapeFromNewYork Snake Plissken]] (who inspired Snake).[[note]]What Atton Rand did not realize was that Solid Snake was actually a loving tribute, not a shameless knock-off, and Creator/JohnCarpenter gave ''Metal Gear'' his blessing, meaning his Take That to ''Metal Gear'' was unnecessary and mean-spirited.[[/note]]
** Andrew Jackson's rant on the comm was a playful TakeThat to Pyro's [[NotAsYouKnowThem dramatic change in character]] after [[SamusIsAGirl being revealed as a woman]]. Andrew Jackson turned out to be popular enough to take back the role of Pyro.
** The Big Lipped Minifigure Moment that was the Pepper fangirl at the end of ''[[VideoGame/LEGOIsland LEGO Island 2]]'' is apparently the only thing that Pepper Roni is genuinely afraid of.
** Joe Harry, being {{The Generic|Guy}} IdealHero in comparison to Duke, was intended as a TakeThat to the idealist-dominated mentality of ''Dino Attack RPG'' at the time.
* TakingYouWithMe:
** Attempted by Firecracker, but [[FailedASpotCheck it didn't exactly work out the way he planned.]]
** [[spoiler:Rex sacrificed his Creative Spark to finally kill Dr. Rex.]]
* TalkLikeAPirate: Greybeard.
* TalkingAnimal:
** Tex and Shade.
** Formerly Rex.
* TalkingInYourSleep: Heavy apparently had a weird dream about marrying a [[EverythingsSatiatingWithSandwiches sandwich]].
* TalkingIsAFreeAction: There are plenty of examples throughout the RPG, but these two instances draw attention to it.
** Michelle Glados gave Rex and Amanda plenty of time to have one last conversation. Apparently, she found sadistic pleasure in watching them.
** Finister was noted to be very patient while waiting for Rex, Remous, Zero, and Phantom to argue over his identity.
* TalkingTheMonsterToDeath: Attempted by Katerina Schattenberg on Dr. Rex. [[FromBadToWorse It... didn't work]].
* TangledFamilyTree: Rex's big screwed-up family tree, largely caused by several adoptions and one FreakyFridayFlip. This family tree includes the Infomaniac (yes, ''[[VideoGame/LEGOIsland that]]'' Infomaniac), PBB (a robot), Chompy (a T-Rex), Cane (the leader of [=ShadowTech=]), and Kat (a synthfig who temporarily downloaded her consciousness into a helicopter).
* TapOnTheHead: Characters are very frequently knocked unconscious by blunt force, only to wake up sometime later with no more than a mild headache.
* TastesLikeFriendship: In ''First Assignment'', Rex fed Trouble some corned beef, which turned out to be one of the first steps in taming the Mutant Lizard.
* TeamMemberInTheAdaptation:
** Wyldstyle from ''WesternAnimation/TheLEGOMovie'' is a member of Dino Attack Team in ''The Madness of Agent Zero'', although she has no affiliation with ''Toys/LEGODinoAttack'' in LEGO canon.
** The Director's Cut justifies Walter and Donnie accompanying Sarah and Dude to LEGO City by revealing they were drafted into Dino Attack Team.
* TeamTitle: Dino Attack is named after the D.I.N.O. Attack team.
* TeenGenius: Multiple:
** Cobra is only 18 years old, but he was a smart enough scientist to be hired by ESG and create memory-restoring technology.
** Jenny. Justified in that she was raised by a XERRD scientist and spent her childhood working as an assistant.
** Kat would have initially been an example of this, until her age was retconned to late twenties.
* {{Telepathy}}:
** Aravis possesses telepathic abilities, including mind reading, thought projection, mental blasts, psychotelekinesis, and even "Jedi mind tricks".
** Amanda Claw was also revealed to be telepathic at one point, although it was quickly retconned into CanonDiscontinuity due to a number of factors (including the lack of an expected shock factor). It's referenced in a DiscontinuityNod in the Director's Cut, where Aravis telepathically speaks with Amanda and mentions that she had a theory about Amanda being telepathic, which Amanda refutes.
* {{Teleportation}}: Thanks to Michelle Glados, XERRD uses teleporters to send Mutant Dinos anywhere on the LEGO Planet. This was also formerly overseen by the Dino Attack Team's Portal Operations Team.
* TeleportGun: Michelle Glados has a handheld teleportation device that resembles a futuristic firearm.
* TeleportSpam: Michelle Glados uses this with Carolyne Provencal against Zachary, Minerva, and Dr. Cyborg.
* TeleportationSickness: Rex suffered from this after using the portal to travel from the Ogel Control Center to Dino Attack Headquarters.
* TeleporterAccident: [[NoodleIncident Mentioned by General]] as a ShoutOut to ''VideoGame/HalfLife2''.
* TellMeAboutMyFather: Frozeen asks both Evil Ogel and General about the fate of Zachary Abody.
* TempleOfDoom: The Maelstrom Temple.
* TemporalMutability: The FUTURE StoryArc demonstrates that time travel in this universe works as a Temporal Balancing Act, with time travel able to be used for observation (e.g. [[Toys/LEGOTimeCruisers Time Cruisers]]) or significantly changing history (e.g. FUTURE). Changing the past results in Branching Timelines, and it is possible for the time traveler to return to their original timeline (although much more difficult to return to the deviated timeline); FUTURE's own time machine included an anti-paradox failsafe mechanism to allow them to return to their origin timeline.
* TemptingFate:
** Greybeard just ''[[YouJustHADToSayIt had]]'' to mention the nice, warm, cozy fire...
** Minerva Fabello just ''had'' to suggest that [[spoiler:the Maelstrom was going to [[DemonicPossession turn Dr. Rex's body into an even greater threat]] after his defeat]]...
* TenLittleMurderVictims: First the Stromling presence at Outpost 4 and later the hunt for the mole in Dino Attack Headquarters.
* TenderTears:
** Kate shed a few after being locked in an office by Dr. Bishop and later after witnessing the accidental murder of a group of Dino Attack Agents disguised as XERRD personell.
** Let's not forget poor Jenny who was too scared to talk when being "interrogated" by Rotor, and couldn't do much else besides cry. The only thing that made it worse was that her crying only gave Rotor something else to laugh at and may have prompted him to make the beatings even worse.
* TentacleRope: Tendrils of Maelstrom often act this way, wrapping around and forcibly constricting their victims.
* TentacledTerror:
** The Vinscale Octomus, a giant amphibious Kraken-like monster that is a hostile threat to anything it sees. An entire mutated swarm of them was so terrifying that BZP Noob #30000 used a time lapse to get Rex and Zero as far away from them as possible.
** Octosaurs are essentially what you'd get when you take an octopus and insert Mutant Dino DNA. The result is terrifying, especially in the subterranean tunnels of the Goo Caverns.
* TertiarySexualCharacteristics: Likely to mark her female gender, Pterisa has NonMammalianHair.
* ThanatosGambit: [[spoiler:Rex]] was already SecretlyDying, and his life was miserable thanks to being a DoomMagnet. What better way to end it all than to [[spoiler:[[TakingYouWithMe Take Dr. Rex with Him]]?]]
* ThankTheMaker: Thank Builder, Thank Creator, Thank the [[VideoGame/LEGOUniverse First Builders]], and Thank Ole are some of the common variants.
* ThatMakesMeFeelAngry: In one of his journal entries, Spy included a tacked-on note saying that he was "most displeased" that his favorite blazer had blood on it.
* ThatsNoMoon: That's no jungle temple... That's a XERRD Fortress.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech:
** Dust gave one to Lutsky while he was being interrogated in true HannibalLecture style, and later to the agents at the temple of Hotep III.
** Most of [[spoiler:the Darkitect's [[FaceYourFears illusions]]]] delivered these speeches.
** Rex delivered one to Michelle Glados during the FinalBattle.
** Later in the FinalBattle, Katerina Schattenberg delivered one to Dr. Rex himself.
* ThemeNaming:
** Most Dino Attack agents' codenames are based upon dinosaurs, including Reptile, Tail, and Rev Raptor.
** Rotor and Cabin are both helicopter pilots whose names refer to parts of a helicopter.
* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill:
** Maria's rather brutal murder of an unidentified hybrid officer. She smothered him, shot him through the head ''twice'', and then cut his throat open just to be sure.
** Called out by Zach when he commanded both Raine Dashworthy and the Brickster (who's armed to the teeth and firing at everything in sight) to destroy Blaire Darkling's outpost. However, Blaire still survived.
* TheyCallHimSword:
** Claymore, a member of GAIA Squad who specializes in heavy weaponry and close-quarters combat.
** Katana is another member of GAIA Squad, depicted on the wiki as DualWielding katanas.
** Knuckles presumably got his nickname due to the fact that he is a skilled boxer.
** Subverted in one instance. Rex was told that he had to meet with someone called "Gun", which he assumed to be someone nicknaming themselves after a firearm. [[spoiler:It was actually Ben Gunn, going by LastNameBasis.]]
* TheyCalledMeMad: A rare non-MadScientist variation, spoken by [[{{Pyromaniac}} Andrew Jackson]] during his rambling.
* TheyLookLikeUsNow: As a reference to the "Answer the Call" ''VideoGame/LEGOUniverse'' trailer, several Stromlings have the ability to disguise themselves as ordinary human minifigs in order to infiltrate XERRD, [=TumTum=] Tribe, and Dino Attack Team.
* ThirdActMisunderstanding: There was much tension between Rex and Amanda at the end of the LEGO Island StoryArc, when the Brickspider Bot revealed the truth about [[RedShirt Roger's]] fate, [[IDidntTellYouBecauseYoudBeUnhappy which Rex kept secret from Amanda because he wanted her to be happy]]. Needless to say, this blew up in Rex's face, and for most of the remainder of the mission, Amanda wouldn't even look at him. Luckily, they got over it by the end of the mission.
* [[ThisIsForEmphasisBitch This Is for Emphasis, Witch!]]: Parodied in the comm chatter by Johnny "bricking" Gat while presumably fighting the Fright Knights.
* ThisIsTheFinalBattle: Take a wild guess when characters said this.
* ThisIsThePartWhere: [[Videogame/{{Portal2}} Michelle Glados kills you]].
* ThousandYardStare: [[HeroicBSOD Rex]] during his AngstComa, after [[spoiler:the deaths of Amanda and Trouble.]]
* ThrowTheDogABone: After constantly getting interrupted every time he tried before, Rex finally manages to propose to Amanda during the FinalBattle. [[spoiler:Unfortunately, this quickly turned into a case of YankTheDogsChain when Amanda was suddenly killed off a few posts later.]]
* ThrowingOffTheDisability:
** [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]]. [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus]] used the Maelstrom to cure [[HandicappedBadass Rex's]] paralysis. Then, the Maelstrom turned on Rex, constricting him and leaving him unable to even move. When the Maelstrom finally let go, Rex was once again paralyzed.
** Played straight with Hertz, who went deaf during the final battle of the Dino Attack but, by the time of the [[Toys/LEGOAlienConquest Alien Conquest]], was fitted with hearing aids so effective that they improved his hearing beyond that of a normal Minifig.
* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks: Captain Click threw his cutlass to disable the XERRD teleporters and cut off the Brickspider Bot's escape. Somehow, it worked.
* ThwartedCoupDeGrace: Disarmed, both weapon-wise and literally, it seems Zach will meet his end by Scratch's pistol. However, Zach suddenly rises and fights Scratch for the pistol, cause the weapon to fire into the latter's chest, killing him.
* TimeBomb: PBB was killed by a timed explosive. He just could not break free of his bonds quickly enough before time ran out.
* TimeTravel:
** Used by the Future Villains to travel from 2035 to 2010, with the goal to MakeWrongWhatOnceWentRight.
** In the most recent revision of Vladek's biography, he traveled to the present day with the help of the Time Twisters.
** The premise of ''Because Of You'' is Talia Kaahs traveling through time, back and forth between 2020 and 1958.
* TimeTravelRomance: In ''Because Of You'', Talia Kaahs goes back in time to 1958, where she becomes HappilyMarried to George Ogel.
* TinTyrant: How about Tin [[BilingualBonus Tyrant Lizard King]]? Dr. Rex goes into battle in full armor, complete with SpikesOfVillainy.
* TitleDrop:
** One comment on the comm chatter during the FinalBattle uses the phrase "at war's end".
** In ''Time and Place'', Fate says, "There's a time and place for everything." Anubis repeats this line at the end of the story.
** At the end of ''Dear Sister'', Roger Remous says, "Welcome to the DINO Attack cause, my dear sister." In the Director's Cut, it almost works as a TitleDrop for the prologue ''Welcome to Dino Attack''.
** In ''Talk of Mutiny'', Mary Rose tells the mutineers, "There'll be no talk of mutiny aboard this ship."
** In ''Out of Time'', the title is first dropped by Giles saying, "We're out of time!" in Timeline 2004-A. Later, Greybeard says, "We be out o' time..." when confronted by the Golden King.
** In ''Because Of You'', Talia Kaahs tells Ronald Alexander about her ruined life and the Dino Attack, then she says, "And this is all because of you."
* ToBeLawfulOrGood:
** Wade during the aftermath of J.D.'s assassination. One the one hand, he could try to stabilize him, possibly getting some useful information but only delaying his inevitable death and most likely causing him a lot pain. On the other, he could let him die quickly and with a minimum of pain, but realizes that killing him also goes against his own personal morals as well as being the opposite of what he as a medic is responsible for doing.
** You've got a broken down base and a bunch of wounded agents stuck in the basement with the only chance of escape being an unfinished portal on the top floor. Do you attempt to move the patients through the unstable building and risk the possibility of the structure collapsing in the hopes of getting them to a safe location, or do you leave them down there and seal off the basement, keeping the mutant dinos out but trapping the occupants inside and leaving them behind to (eventually) take their chances in a world overrun by mutant dinos (although the patients that recovered in that time could be organized into a potential fighting force and become the basis for a new Dino Attack Team)?
* TokenEvilTeammate:
** Literally happened when Ogel, The Brickster, Sam Sinister, and Vladek [[EnemyMine joined the team]].
** Dust was not evil, [[AntiHero but in comparison to other upstanding members of the Dino Attack Team]]...
* TokenReligiousTeammate: Shaw and Pharisee, though the extent at which they can be called "religious" is debatable.
* TogetherInDeath: [[spoiler:Rex and Amanda.]]
* {{Tomboy}}: With the excaption of Naomi, there are not many girly girls in the Dino Attack Team, which is somewhat understandable, given that D.A.'s primary function is waging apocalyptic war against giant horrific superpowered reptiles.
* TomboyPonytail: Holly Vinyaya and Zelda Frodongan.
* TomatoInTheMirror:
** When Rex was approached by The Phantom, he learned of XERRD's plot to destroy Dino Attack Team from the inside by disguising a Mutant Dino as a Dino Attack agent. Then The Phantom reveals that this Mutant Dino is none other than Rex himself. Both Downplayed, since Rex does not let this knowledge stop him from continuing to fight alongside Dino Attack Team, and Justified, since Rex's role as an infiltrator required for him to under go brainwashing to make his cover as realistic as possible (which, of course, [[GoneHorriblyRight Went Horribly Right]]).
** Kat had a mysterious background, not even knowing her own name. Then, she learned the shocking truth. She is in fact a synthetically-engineered clone of Katerina Schattenberg, both one of [=ShadowTech=]'s foundupers ''and'' the long-lost sister of Dr. Rex.
* TooDumbToLive:
** Apparently Tom thought it would be a good idea to attack an experienced ex-military agent of the Dino Attack team who had only earlier the same day beaten a child (and him, for that matter) senseless.
** Really, Dr. Rex? You were a Space Marauder, [[EvilIsNotAToy you should know more about the Maelstrom than most people]]. What do you do? ''[[spoiler:Inject yourself with traces of Maelstrom.]]'' Seriously?
** Trigger thinks that he can just walk away from a [[FinalBattle battle that will determine the fate of a post-apocalyptic planet]] that has been placed under quarantine by the rest of the universe. Even worse, after Amanda pointed this out to him and then proceeded to threaten him to make sure that he stayed, Trigger continued going about his plan to desert the Dino Attack Team as though he did not hear a word she said.
** There's a mass invasion of LEGO City by mutant dinosaurs and what does Walter decide to do? Stay in the safety of HQ? Leave and participate in the fight? No, he just decided to take advantage of the fact that there wasn't anyone running the local bowling alleys and went bowling with Dude and Donnie. [[SarcasmMode This seems like a reasonable decision that probably won't have any unpleasant consequences.]]
%%* TooPowerfulToLive: Blaire Darkling.
* TookALevelInBadass:
** Nerdy Hertz killed a T-rex with an oxygen can and by firing a gun for the first time in his life. In addition, he had a broken arm, could not see out of one eye, had burns across his hands and legs, and had just survived a helicopter crash and blazing inferno.
** This was inverted with Dust in the flashback. In the present, he was shown to be really tough, but around 2002 we see him becomming an InnocentBystander when his car gets hijacked. In a Steam chat, Atton Rand and [=PeabodySam=] joked about turning Dust into a ButtMonkey.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Zach started to fall toward this path after his first encounter with the Maelstrom.
* TorsoWithAView: Aster Oid had a gaping hole in his torso when he died, thanks to the Brickspider Bot pulling out his innerworkings.
* TortureAlwaysWorks: Subverted. If anything for Jenny it only left her even more frightened and confused than she already was.
* TouchedByVorlons: Zach's interaction with the Darkitect and the Maelstrom ultimately lead his to aquire his ability to manipulate the Maelstrom.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood:
** Aside from his love for large weapons, Heavy loves {{Satiating Sandwich}}es.
** Most of the pirates on the team enjoy rum, and Clint Wayne is occasionally seen drinking whiskey in his spare time.
** The Brickster always had a strong love for pizza, even if he often used it as part of an elaborate scheme to escape from prison.
* TragicVillain:
** General Evil, at least in his early days. He joined his brother's side because he literally felt like his life had no purpose.
** Dr. Rex, especially after the revelations of his Maelstrom experiment and his recent realization that [[spoiler:he is merely the Darkitect's plaything]]. He knew that he was [[SanitySlippage plunging into madness]], but he was too late to stop it.
* TraitorShot: Alone in a dark alley in Gold City, Scout made a suspicious phone call. [[spoiler:Ultimately subverted, however, as the phone call was later revealed to be a completely-innocent check-in with his mother.]]
* TranquilFury: Keeping perfectly in character for her, Amanda Claw does not explode when she is angry, but remains tranquil and collected... which arguably makes her fury even more terrifying.
* TranslationConvention: Everyone on the LEGO Planet speaks plain English. This includes Medieval Knights (Lampshaded by Vladek's attempts to speak YeOldeButcheredeEnglishe), the Islanders on Adventurers' Island (although the first Islander to appear only spoke broken English, this was dropped in later posts by other members), and ''dinosaurs'' (although this case mainly occurs in [=PeabodySam=]'s posts, and even then he usually makes it clear that it's a seperate language, making it an example of BilingualDialogue for the reader's convenience).
* {{Transplant}}: Greybeard, Coral, and Elizabeth Winsor from ''Pirates RPG''; Samuel "Lay" Go and Ben Baseplate from ''LEGO Island RPG''; and many [=NPCs=] originating from ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG''.
* TrapIsTheOnlyOption: Databoard, PBB, and Turahk-Kal were all very well-aware that Rex's distress signal from the ''[[CoolAirship Voltage]]'' was a trap by Kotua. In Databoard's words, "We spring the trap."
* TrashTheSet: So, after seven and a half years, we're finally at the FinalBattle? Let's trash Dino Attack Headquarters!
* TraumaCongaLine: This has happened to most of the main cast at some point or another.
** Of notable worth is Rex's TraumaCongaLine in the FinalBattle. [[spoiler:Adventure died, Amanda died, Trouble died...]] it's no wonder Rex was left in a HeroicBSOD.
* TraumaInducedAmnesia: Trying to erase the memory of her husband's death helped Athena complete her SanitySlippage.
* TreacherousSpiritChase: Carl Lutsky is confronted by an imaginary Dust; although not a spirit, the situation and following threat is strikingly similar.
* TrickAndFollowPloy: Dino Attack Team "accidentally" let Dr. Paulie Gonepus escape so that he may unwittingly lead them to the true [[TempleOfDoom Maelstrom Temple]]. Ultimately subverted because Dr. Gonepus was being cunning at the moment and intentionally led them to the wrong temple.
* TriggerHappy:
** Heavy, Gunner, Rotor, Clint Wayne, Carl Lutsky, Tracer, and Lance Williams.
** According to Sarah Bishop, Walter on at least one occasion pulled a gun out in the middle of a bowling match because ''some guy put his toe over the line''.
* TrojanPrisoner: Lord Sam Sinister during TheInfiltration of the XERRD Fortress. [[GoneHorriblyRight Ironically]], he ended up becoming a LivingMacGuffin when he was recognized by Dr. Breen and Dr. Provhezor.
* {{Troll}}: No other word so effectively describes Grease, who goes out of his way to piss off everyone he talks to.
* {{Troperiffic}}: Especially in ''Dino Attack: At War's End'', in which tropes such as YeOldeButcheredeEnglishe and ArsonMurderAndJaywalking are actually called out by name.
* TroubledAbuser: In ''Because Of You'', it is suggested that Talia Kaahs's AbusiveDad was [[ShellShockedVeteran suffering from PTSD]] after serving in UsefulNotes/WorldWarI. While Timeline 1958-D's Talia never forgave him, she did come to understand him.
* TroubledBackstoryFlashback:
** At the beginning of ''At War's End'', we're shown a series of flashbacks depicting Gahiji Thutmose being blackmailed by Claudia and his subsequent firing from the Cairo Museum, with this backstory leading to the Dust we know today.
** Greybeard's own TroubledBackstoryFlashback was presented in YetAnotherChristmasCarol mode.
* TruthSerums: XERRD's Veritaserum, named after the potion from ''Franchise/HarryPotter'', shuts down the neurological pathways necessary for lying.
* {{Tsundere}}: Minerva Fabello showed traces of Type A in her first appearances before becoming more Type B. Her mother Athena appears to have been a Type A as a young adult.
* {{Tuckerization}}:
** Kara Wise seems to be based on and named after a friend of avmatoran.
** While his name was created in a name generator, Kareem Nazareno's initials were intended to reference [=KillerNinja7=], the former username of a friend of Brikman [=McStudz=]'s who created Nazareno's minifig. Desiree and Kayla Virchaus are named after two of Brikman [=McStudz=]'s friends and James Virchaus is named after Brikman's father.
** Amanda Claw and Shannon Grimton are named after two of [=PeabodySam=]'s friends. Zachary Abody is named after [=PeabodySam=]'s friend [=Stormcrow926=], while Faith Abody is named after [=PeabodySam=]'s cousin flamingchibi.
* TurnTheOtherCheek: Grease has been a {{Jerkass}}, bully, and {{Troll}} to everyone he meets, and in ''Alpha Team RPG: Ogel's Last Stand'', he insulted Frozeen's father and [[KarmaHoudini got away with it]] while Frozeen got punished. But when Grease was in a near-death situation in the FinalBattle, Frozeen did not hesitate to rescue him. Grease's reaction was... [[UngratefulBastard ungrateful]].
* TurnedAgainstTheirMasters:
** Pterisa, Velosis, and Tyrannus. Of course, in the ensuing rebellion, only Pterisa survived.
** Dr. Strangebrick officially defected from XERRD after realizing that his superiors had intentionally abandoned him and most of the other personnel in the fortress to die in the bombing or to be killed by skeleton mummies.
* TurnsRed: Turns [[TechnicolorMagic Purple]], actually; [[spoiler:Dr. Rex when his body became [[DemonicPossession possessed by the Maelstrom]] after being seemingly defeated by Adventure.]]
* TwoFaced: Holly Vinyaya has two acidic scars on the right side of her face and is missing her right eye.
* TwoFirstNames: The Alexanders (Ronald, Catherine, Rex, and Amanda), Joe Harry, and Athena Chase. Michelle Gladys in the Director's Cut as well.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:U]]
* {{Uberwald}}: Granted, there are no vampires, werewolves, or other horrors of the night, but being a rather sinister East European nation that is apparently home to {{Mad Scientist}}s, Barron could be arguably considered an Ãœberwald. Then again, it was later canonically revealed that Manor von Barron is a HauntedHouse with connections to the Fright Knights of Bricksylvania, so perhaps this trope is played even more straight than it would seem.
* UncannyValley: In ''Love and War'', Rex feels very unsettled by the holographic T-Rex projected by the H.R.D.B. and compares it to bad CGI from a cheesy nineties film that just doesn't look quite right. In particular, the lifeless look in the T-Rex's eyes evoke a feeling of repulsion.
* UncertainDoom: A number of Dino Attack agents whose players dropped out, such as [=GoldEagle=], Jordan, Spark, and Zap, were last seen in a perilous situation, with no confirmation whether or not they survived.
* UndergroundLevel: The Goo Caverns, one of the available locations for players to travel, is an enormous system of tunnels and caves located underground.
* {{Understatement}}: The roof of Dino Attack Headquarters collapsed after Firecracker's foolish stunt. Greybeard later mentioned that [[SandInMyEyes he had rain on his face]] because there was "a leak" in the roof.
* UndyingLoyalty: Amanda Claw and Trouble to Rex.
* UnexplainedRecovery:
** Snake of Spades goes from being mutated to being a normal human again in the next scene, and Sting goes from running off after falling under Ogel's mind-control to being back in his right mind in his next scene. In neither case is this caused by missing posts from the downloadable archive; there just wasn't any explanation given for their off-screen recovery. The Director's Cut addresses this with a couple quick {{handwave}}s.
** The last time we saw Zenna during the Adventurers' Island mission, she nearly died from blood loss and was in a coma. Only a few days later, she's almost back to full health and flying the ''Amanda'' during the final battle.
* TheUnfettered: Silencia Venomosa. Commander Pharisee also seems to have some traits of TheUnfettered.
* UnfinishedBusiness: When Frozeen died, he tried this tactic on the mysterious voice, since it worked for Kotua and Databoard. [[NeverHeardThatOneBefore Too bad that the mysterious voice was sick and tired of the whole "But My Friends Need Me!" and "But I've Got Unfinished Business!" schtick...]]
* UngratefulBastard: Grease was far from grateful towards Frozeen after being rescued by Mutant Raptors.
* TheUnintelligible: Pyro and A.J. Orange cannot be understood when they are wearing balaclavas.
* UniqueEnemy: There have only been two confirmed appearances of blue Mutant Lizards, and one was just a mention of an off-screen autopsy. For all we know, both Mutant Lizards may have even been the same specimen.
* UnnecessarilyLargeInterior: Supposedly, the main chamber alone of the Maelstrom Temple was wider than the Aztec Village and taller than Dino Attack Headquarters.
* UnPerson: Before beginning his take-over-the-world scheme, Evil Ogel did this to himself to ensure that no one could use his past against him.
* TheUnreveal:
** This somehow kept happening with TheMole. First Clint, Angel Eyes, and Maria find the name but refuse to divulge it, then multiple people are killed without any description of the attacker. Now Crusher found a tape that recorded Medic's last moments, except it's an audio recording, and since the mole never spoke we still don't know who it is. If only Medic had instead set up a video camera to record his autopsy...
** After wearing a balaclava for the entire Dino Attack, [[TheFaceless Specs]] finally took it off when he made a public appearance after the war's end. However, no specific details about Specs's face are actually revealed to readers, leaving his true appearance just as mysterious as it always was.
* UnsafeHaven:
** Antarctica, the one place on the planet where no Mutant Dino can go... that is, until the Mutant Dinos started adapting to arctic climates. Don't get me started on the riots, either.
** Dino Attack Headquarters is meant to be Dino Attack Team's one safe haven in LEGO City. It's been leveled by Kotua, bombed by Cam O'Cozy, and nearly destroyed from the inside by Firecracker. And then there's Mutant Dinos infiltrating the building. Wonderful.
* UnspokenPlanGuarantee: Needless to say, after Rex announced his plans to defy DeusExMachina and arrive in a BigDamnHeroes moment at the Forbidden Ruins, the plan... didn't exactly work out as planned.
** Invoked with a direct trope callout by Andrew when improvising to fight against Ghost the Stromling.
* UnstoppableMailman: Not even the apocalypse itself could stop Ed Mail.
* UnstoppableRage:
** Frozeen whenever he goes into HeroicSafeMode.
** Also Dr. Rex, to a lesser extent, who [[InsaneEqualsViolent gets uncontrollably violent]] whenever angered.
** Carl Lutsky when he feels his authority might be threatened.
* UnusualAnimalAlliance: On Dinosaur Island and Adventurers' Island, species of both carnivorous and herbivorous dinosaurs will put aside their differences to defend their homes from Mutant Dinos.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Tragically, Amanda Remous in her youth. She cried out to her parents, distracting them just long enough for Bricassius to kill them both.
* UnwittingPawn:
** Dust used the Dino Attack Team's manpower and resources to get him to the temple of Hotep III. He they planed to throw them away like the "broken toys that they are".
** XERRD was this to the Maelstrom.
* UrgentMedicalAlert: The deaths of [[TheEngineer Engineer]] quickly led to Pierce and Medic rushing to the scene of the crime. Pierce more or less did the same again when Medic was killed (though he was implied to be in a different part of the same room).
* UriahGambit: Ahua sent Zach out to kill the XERRD scientists heading toward the [[TempleOfDoom Maelstrom Temple]], hoping he would be killed by the scientists garbed in Space Marauder and Sorcerer gear. However, Zach was very much aware of the danger of Stromlings facing against former Paradox operatives, so he sent {{Mooks}} to die instead.
* UrbanWarfare: LEGO City in the early days of the Dino Attack, although it seems to be somewhat under control as a small portion of the town's population has returned, some of the damage has been repaired, and mutant dinos are scarce aside from a few scattered groups of mutant lizards. However, the FinalBattle takes place in LEGO City.
* UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans:
** Justification of some of the more extreme realists of the team such as Shadow, who are willing to do anything to end the Dino Attack.
** Pharisee believes this.
** In a way, [=ShadowTech=] followed this principle under Cane's leadership, in a rather terrifyingly Third Reich-esque fashion.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:V]]
* VanHelsingHateCrimes: How some idealists view the realists' actions.
* VanInBlack: [=ShadowTech=]'s land vehicles, including black Fire Hammers. Their black Steel Sprinters and Urban Avengers probably do not count as Vans In Black, though.
* VengeanceDenied: In ''Love and War'', Phantom revealed that he was seeking revenge against Frozeen. However, he was ultimately denied his revenge when [[spoiler:Frozeen was forced to kill him to stop his violent RoaringRampageOfRevenge]].
* VeryLooselyBasedOnATrueStory: In-universe example. ''Silent But Deadly'', a film based on the exploits of Silencia Venomosa, was so far from the truth that Frozeen found it laughable.
* VideoWills:
** Frank Einstein delivered his last message to Rex in the form of a hologram. The message began with the hologram addressing the fact that, if this hologram is seen, then Dr. Einstein must be dead.
** While Wallace Bishop did not die, [[spoiler:his self-induced lobotomy left him a mere shadow of the man he once was. As such, before beginning the procedure, he recorded a Video Will addressed to Frank Einstein, explaining what he was about to do and his wishes for Einstein to protect the Bishop family.]]
* VikingFuneral: [[spoiler:Winston and Mathias Grendelwulf]] were the subject of one.
* VillainBall: Michelle Glados could have easily killed Rex if she just stopped talking and [[WhyDontYouJustShootHim just shot him already]]. And when [[spoiler:Trouble [[HeroicSecondWind got back up]], rather than shooting Rex first and then paying attention to Trouble, Glados forgot about Rex and tried to shoot Trouble instead, leading to her own death and Rex's survival.]]
* VillainRevealsTheSecret:
** It was Cane who revealed Kat's true identity to her.
** While Rex and Specs lied to Amanda about Remous's whereabouts, the Brickspider Bot told her the truth.
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: Invoked; FUTURE's end goal is to rewrite history so that the villains are hailed by the world as the saviors of the Dino Attack, making it easier for them to take control of the world without any opposition.
* VillainousFaceHold:
** Fogel does this to Nails, mockingly caressing her face in front of the security camera.
** When Lady Evil sees Talia Kaah's face, she forcibly grabs her by the jaw to get a closer look at her features.
* VillainousRescue: Evil Ogel showed up in an airship just in time to save Rex and his friends from a Mutant Vinscale Octomus swarm. Later, he ([[ActuallyADoombot or rather, his disguised drones]]) saved Rex and his friends again, this time from Dr. Rex twice during the final battle.
* VillainsDyingGrace: According to [=PeabodySam=], [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus tried to make Dr. Rex dodge the Einstein Device. However, despite being enslaved to the Darkitect and becoming his possessed puppet, Dr. Rex deliberately resisted the Darkitect's orders and [[FaceDeathWithDignity calmly accepted death]], knowing that it would finally put an end to all the death and destruction that he caused.]]
* VillainousBSOD: [[spoiler:Ata]] and Oswald each have one upon learning that [[spoiler:they were nothing more than pawns for the Maelstrom]].
* VillainousBreakdown:
** Dr. Rex, [[SanitySlippage over the course of the RPG]]. He's gone from a gentlemen-like scientist with misguided goals to a maddened monster who destroys everything in his path.
** Dust has had on again off again villainous breakdowns when he allows his emotions to get in control of his plain. Most notably when he lost it after the assault on the south coast and became a fugitive. He has however managed to maintain his composure in the end. Carl Lutsky fits the trope better when he went from well-groomed jerk to crazy jerk with a vendetta.
** Edward Korrupte had a very minor VillainousBreakdown. Although he hired Silencia Venomosa to do undercover work at Mindstorms, Inc., learning that Sindstorme had sent a team of mercenaries to steal blueprints from Dacta Corporation caused Korrupte to give Venomosa permission to kill everyone. [[FauxAffablyEvil Despite his professional-sounding letter, Venomosa could tell that it was masking a barely-controlled fury.]]
** A minor one in Michelle Glados's final moments, visible in the fact that she broke character and started acting NotSoStoic.
** Paulie Gonepus began to suffer one when he could not kill Holly Vinyaya that ultimately peaked with the destruction of his tentacles and Maelaser.
** Blaire Darkling in his final fight.
* TheVoiceless: Amanda Claw, [[SuddenlySpeaking until she broke her vow of silence]] in the LEGO Island mission.
* TheVonTropeFamily: An interesting variation with Lord Sam Sinister von Barron. ''Dino Attack RPG'' interprets the "von" of "Baron von Barron" as the German word for "of", making "Baron von Barron" a title meaning "Baron of Barron" rather than a Baron with the surname Barron; this is because Lord Sinister's surname seems to be truly Sinister, since his sister is named Alexis Sinister. This lead to the creation of Barron, a FictionalCountry seemingly populated by [[HerrDoktor Herr Doktors]] with stereotypical East European [[FunetikAksent Funetik Aksents]] (a nod to the Baron's accent in ''VideoGame/LEGORacers'').
[[/folder]]

[[folder:W]]
* WackyWaysideTribe: In the big picture, villains such as Anti-Kotua and Dino Aliens play little part in the overall story and just served as momentary threats.
* TheWallsAreClosingIn: That one temple chamber filled with Mutant Raptors, leading to a SickeningCrunch.
* WarIsHell:
** that guy from that show, [=PeabodySam=], Atton Rand, and Brikman [=McStudz=] have been known to use graphic descriptions of the battles and have all conveyed pretty clearly that war is not fun or glorious. Scenes set in the medical bay for example tend to show the stress and incredible amount of death and suffering that the staff have to deal with.
** The ninja conflict really affected Solomon's ideals and he spends a considerable amount of time musing about how tired he is of violence during the final battle.
** In the final battle, [=PeabodySam=] tried to convey this through the deaths of [[spoiler:King Joseph Race, Adventure, Amanda Claw, and Trouble]]. Sam Race and Rex were both left rather shellshocked by the end of it.
* TheWarSequence: The beginning of the FinalBattle.
* WartimeWedding:
** Rex and Amanda's ''[[Film/PiratesOfTheCaribbeanAtWorldsEnd At World's End]]''-inspired wedding during the final battle.
** Another one apparently took place between [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask Anju and Kafei]], according to the comm chatter.
* WasItAllALie?:
** During the Adventurers' Island StoryArc, shortly after learning about Amanda's identity as Silencia Venomosa and her secret fear that "Amanda Claw" is just a mask, Rex asked Amanda this question in regards to their love. Thankfully, Amanda's response was "no", and that helped to keep her grounded.
** Rex asked [[spoiler:[[TheMole Ata]]]] this question, and [[spoiler:Ata's]] response was "yes".
* WatchingTheSunset: After the cleansing of the [[TempleOfDoom Maelstrom Temple]], Rex watched the sunset over Adventurers' Island from aboard his T-1 Typhoon.
* TheWatson: Kate more or less. Lance has filled this role on some occasions.
* WaxingLyrical:
** Greybeard, Ben Gunn, Brickspider Bot v1.0, Captain Click, Frank Einstein, Medic, Heavy, Michelle Glados, and Walker have spoken lines that are slightly-altered lyrics from "[[VideoGame/{{Portal}} Still Alive]]". Michelle Glados also quotes a lyric from "[[VideoGame/Portal2 Want You Gone]]", and so does Talia Kaahs in ''Because Of You''.
** Greybeard introduced himself to Ben Gunn by quoting a lyric from "[[Franchise/PiratesOfTheCaribbean Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life For Me)]]". Later, different lyrics from the same song were quoted by Andrew "Pyro" Jackson during his rant.
** After reading a note from Captain Click, Rex made a remark that quoted the song "Notes" from ''Theatre/ThePhantomOfTheOpera''. Later, [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus]] and Sam Sinister addressed one another with lyrics from the musical's title song.
** When the voice was scolding Zach for drifting away from the Maelstrom in his dream, he used lines from the song "The Trial" by Music/PinkFloyd.
** Zachary and the Maelstrom voice in his head have lifted lines from songs by Music/{{Nightwish|Band}}, including "Master Passion Greed", "Scaretale", and "7 Days to the Wolves". The phrase used to describe Holly Vinyaya's emotions while being pummeled by Colonel were also lifted from "Master Passion Greed."
** Two comments in the comm chatter referred to [[Music/SystemOfADown Danny, Lisa, rocking out, and being on the radio]].
** An agent on the comm chatter quoted the first lines of "[[WesternAnimation/{{Mulan}} I'll Make a Man Out of You]]". In ''First Assignment'', another agent said an altered version of another lyric from the same song.
** The comm chatter quotes a lyric from the "[[WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic Nostalgia Critic Anthem]]" by [[WebVideo/SadPandaQAndA Sad Panda]].
** During her final confrontation with Oswald, Minerva quoted two lines from "[[Music/SonataArctica Paid in Full]]".
** In the Director's Cut, Cobra describes ESG's enhanced mutants as "[[VideoGame/DonkeyKong64 bigger, faster, and stronger, too.]]"
* WeCanRebuildHim:
** General, Frozeen, the Frickster, Fullmetal, and Dr. Cyborg.
** Unconfirmed, but seeing as the titular creature of the ''Franchise/{{Alien}}'' series has a very biomechanical appearance, it possibly applies to Raptor/Enox Phorm.
* WeCanRuleTogether: Dr. Rex to Talia Kaahs.
* WeHardlyKnewYe:
** Roger Remous and Redshirt, though [[RedShirt the latter]] was deliberately [[InvokedTrope invoked]].
** Quite a few players signed up for ''Dino Attack RPG'' and dropped out shortly afterward, resigning their characters to this fate.
* WeUsedToBeFriends:
** Frozeen, in regards to Chompy and PBB, during his time as "The Phantom" at the start of the RPG. He later joined back up with them.
** Kotua, in regards to Databoard and Frozeen, during his time where Chaos turned him BrainwashedAndCrazy. He and Databoard were able to team up again later, though they never got a chance to reunite with Frozeen.
* WebcomicTime: ''Dino Attack RPG'' lasted for over seven and a half years, but only spans eight months in-universe.
* WellIntentionedExtremist:
** XERRD scientists believe that, by creating the Mutant Dinosaurs and bringing about the apocalypse, they are simply helping destiny in its course.
** Lutsky and Rotor both have the same goals as the rest of the team- to bring an end to the invasion of the mutant dinos. It's just that they're willing to take a few more risks that others would normally object to.
* TheWestern: Anything involving Gold City, Fort Legoredo, or Clint Wayne.
* WhamEpisode: ''The Madness of Agent Zero''. Specifically its ending, which offers an in-universe justification of the many {{retcon}}s made to the early story, in a reveal in the vein of ''WesternAnimation/TheLEGOMovie'' that arguably shakes up the entire meta universe of the RPG, all the while delivered through the trippy lens of ThroughTheEyesOfMadness.
* WhamLine: Usually you know it's a wham line when [[RunningGag Brikman flips his laptop]]. Here are a few examples:
** "Becase Gahiji, I'm [[spoiler:your mommy]]." Claudia
** "... you need not introduce yourself at all. I know exactly who you are, as well as everything about you... [[spoiler:Lupus Schattenberg]]." Katerina Schattenberg
** "Hello again, Rex." Frank Einstein
** "Rex, I'm afraid [[spoiler:[[YourDaysAreNumbered you have less than a month to live]]]]." - Frank Einstein
** "''Rookie Agent Jason Helmutson, codename "[[spoiler:Tracer]]."''" - The file revealing the identity of Helmie's son
* WhatDoTheyFearEpisode: The battle for the Maelstrom Temple, during which Dino Attack agents were forced to experience illusions of their worst nightmares brought to life.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse:
** Often happens as a result of player's characters being OutOfFocus when that player is no longer active in the RPG, leaving those characters' fates largely unknown.
** Due to most side stories taking a back seat once the StoryArc formula was introduced, the status of the Dino Alien invasion is unknown.
** What happened to the XERRD scientist who accidentally switched bodies with a Hybrid?
* WhatIf:
** ''L.E.G.O.'' and ''December 21, 2010'' are two WhatIf alternate endings to ''Dino Attack RPG''; specifically, "What if Dino Attack Team failed to contain the Antarctica riots?" and "What if Dino Attack Team failed during the Adventurers' Island mission?"
** [=PeabodySam=] has expressed interest in a What If? scenario in which Silencia Venomosa never retired.
** [=PeabodySam=] was interested in expanding upon the alternate future of Future Frozeen, [[ItsASmallWorldAfterAll promising that a couple of notable Dino Attack RPG characters may have played a role in that timeline]].
* WhatMeasureIsAMook: [[DefiedTrope Defying]] this trope is the reasoning behind many idealists' motivations, especially Rex.
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: Since all dinosaurs appear to be intelligent animals, this trope is ''another'' reason behind the motivations of idealists.
* WhatTheHellHero:
** Rotor has George arrested for disobeying orders. Technically, while he may have had good reasoning for doing so as he had been thinking of the agents inside he did still explicitly refuse to carry out a direct order given by a superior officer, so Rotor's charges were valid. However, rather than simply talking to him and maybe some small punishment, he tries to have him executed by firing squad. Some people reacted the same way when he proceeded to attempt to torture Jenny.
** [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown What Rex did to French Fries]] was ''not'' the right thing to do. Pharisee called Rex out on it, and Atton Rand (who wanted to see French Fries get punished) was shocked by the brutality of the situation.
** Firecracker tried to perform a TakingYouWithMe... by blowing up Dino Attack Headquarters, which is what Dino Attack Team was fighting to defend, while there were doctors, patients, evacuees, Dino Attack agents, and other personnel still inside, an important Teleport Pad on the roof, and only a fraction of the Mutant Dino forces inside the building at that point.
* WhatTheHellPlayer:
** During the Antarctica mission, there was much emphasis, both IC and OOC, about the importance of keeping the mission secret. Despite these warnings, Atton Rand leaked the information through the actions of his primary character, Zenna, and two newly-created [=NPCs=], Cam O'Cozy and French Fries. As the warnings were not heeded, the full consequences occurred, and suddenly the refugee facilities were full of panicked and angered rioters.
** On a slightly smaller scale, there was a similar reaction after Jenny's torture.
** [=PeabodySam=] and Jackson Lake worked out a rough idea for a confrontation during the FinalBattle between Dr. Rex and Katerina Schattenberg, aka Catherine Alexander, which would cause Dr. Rex to question his actions and fight back against his enslavement to the Maelstrom. Unfortunately, when the moment finally arrived for Jackson Lake to initiate this confrontation, they got carried away and had Katerina [[spoiler:''disown'' her brother]]. This, of course, [[DespairEventHorizon had the opposite effect from what had originally intended]]. Now there is an enraged, invincible, nigh-unstoppable T-Rex charging towards DAHQ even more determined to raze it to the ground.
** Some people felt this way towards [=PeabodySam=] after Rex's TraumaCongaLine.
** There were a ''ton'' of possible ways to bring Snake back into the final battle while showing off his personality. Did Atton Rand ''really'' need to go out of his way to beat up Plastic Serpent a second time?
* WhatYouAreInTheDark: [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus]] attempted to goad Minerva Fabello into pushing Andrew into a death trap in the Pharaoh's Forbidden Ruins while Minerva and Andrew were alone. At the last second, Minerva saved Andrew from the trap.
* WhatsInItForMe: The Maelstrom, speaking through a Stromling, asked this of the team Dr. Cyborg was leading into the ''real'' [[TempleOfDoom Maelstrom Temple]] when they demanded entrance into the Vortex Chamber.
* WhenHarryMetSvetlana: Magma (the male special agent of Alpha Team, which is the sympathetic team on "our side") and Covert (the female colonel from Agents Defense Organization, portrayed as a rival team, i.e. "their side") form a relationship that is initially professional and eventually romantic.
* WhenLifeGivesYouLemons: Mentioned numerous times during the final battle, either by [[{{Pyromaniac}} Pyro]], or by the comm chatter, as a ShoutOut to ''[[Videogame/{{Portal2}} Portal 2]]'''s infamous take on the phrase. The whole ''Portal 2'' speech was played over the radio by Kara to boost morale.
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue:
** In addition to the extended epilogue of ''At War's End'', the short stories ''Ghosts'' and ''Scars'' show what life was like for Leonidas Spartana and Talia Kaahs after the Dino Attack.
** The 2020 "Fifteeniversary" collection of stories are intended to show what the cast has been up to in the ten years since the war ended in 2010.
* WhereItAllBegan: LEGO City is where the first Mutant Dinos appeared and the first location to appear in the RPG. Seven years later (eight months later in-universe), the FinalBattle is being fought in LEGO City.
* WhereTheHellIsSpringfield: What exactly is LEGOLAND? It's never quite been pinned down, other than being located in the western world. It's commonly assumed to be a FictionalCountry, but this is never explicitly stated. Despite its heavy EaglelandOsmosis, LEGOLAND is not necessarily the United States of America, although it's possible that LEGOLAND is a FictionalProvince of the USA, or LEGOLAND is a collection of united nations including the USA. Rather than coming up with a definitive answer, [=PeabodySam=] has just largely avoided the question altogether.
* WheresTheKaboom: In the Dino Island Laboratory, the Brickster's bombs [[DelayedExplosion did not explode right away]], causing him to panic (especially since he was confronted by a maddened Dr. Rex at the moment) and start mashing his detonator until they finally ''did'' explode.
* [[WhileRomeBurns While LEGO City Burns]]: There's a mass evacuation of LEGO City just before the FinalBattle, which absolutely reduces the city to ruins and ashes as the Dino Attack Team and their allies battle the largest army of Mutant Dinos they've ever faced... while Walter, Dude, and Donnie decide to go bowling in one of the city's abandoned bowling alleys.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Blaire Darkling carries shades of this.
* WhoNamesTheirKidDude: Gates Crusher seems like a pretty strange name, made all the more bizarre by the fact that her first name was taken from a real-life actress.
* WhoWritesThisCrap:
** Semick once grumbled about elements of this story [[SelfDeprecation that were apparently written by nerds]].
** Timeline 1958-D's Talia Kaahs considers "Lady Evil" an AtrociousAlias, calling it a silly name that sounds like something an 11-year-old would come up with. It's SelfDeprecation on [=PeabodySam's=] part, reflecting back upon the name General Evil (the direct basis of Lady Evil's name), which he came up with when he was much younger.
** Vinnie's ''Disasters & Dinosaurs'' campaign has many parallels with the "real" Dino Attack, including [[MakeWrongWhatOnceWentRight time-traveling villains]], [[EveryoneIsRelated contrived family trees]], and [[VideoGame/SonicAdventure Chaos itself]]. This naturally leads to in-universe commentary on how ridiculous and nonsensical the overly-complicated story is, with Trish even going so far as to say that it's already [[JumpingTheShark jumped the shark]].
* WholesomeCrossdresser: There ''was'' [[NoodleImplements a dress]] in Spy's briefcase...
* WhyWontYouDie:
** Glados to Rex during her VillainousBreakdown.
** Zach to Blaire after he stopped another attack that would've killed him before ''actually'' killing him.
* WhyDontYouJustShootHim: Whereas most of his fellow agents found themselves paralyzed with emotion with their Maelstrom visions, Andrew was stunned for all of five seconds before GenreSavvy kicked in and he shot his illusion of the Infomaniac without second thought.
%%* WickedCultured: Dust and Rotor.
%%* WickedWitch: Willa the Witch.
%%* WideEyedIdealist:
%%** Many of the Elite agents, but particularly Rex.
%%** How Dr. Koplowitz started his philosophy. He eventually changed after the ninja wars.
* WillTheyOrWontThey: There was quite a bit of UnresolvedSexualTension between Hertz and Naomi Carver, as well as between Frozeen and Gromtin.
%%* WingedHumanoid: Ptero.
* WitchWithACapitalB: The way that King Joseph Race screams "You witch!" at Willa heavily suggests this. Later, Johnny "bricking" Gat lets you know that [[ThisIsForEmphasisBitch This Is for Emphasis, Witch!]]
* AWizardDidIt:
** Literally. Soldier and Demoman became FireForgedFriends after they both angered Majisto the Wizard and were forced to work together to defend a small castle from Majisto's dragon.
** Axle's presence on the LEGO Planet was explained as being a "teleporter malfunction" with absolutely no explanation of what happened.
** How are Vladek and Evil Ogel, [[LegacyCharacter who are eight generations apart]], working together? The first explanation was literally AWizardDidIt, since Vladek used dark magic to keep himself alive all these years. The current explanation is TimeTravel.
%%* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Dr. Rex.
* WoodenShipsAndIronMen: There's a reason why there have been at least four {{pirates}} in the Dino Attack Team.
* WorstAid:
** Enter and Return perform this as they always did, but now it is frequently [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] by Alan Pierce.
*** Played for laughs when Enter saved a clinically dead patient by hitting her with a shark ''after'' conventional CPR and a defibrillator failed to revive her. Of course to be fair the patient in question had just been infected with another man's creative sparks.
*** Also parodied when Shaw had to take Pierce to LEGO Island's hospital [[ItMakesSenseInContext after he accidentally ate a rediculously hot pizza]]. When trying to prove that she was a qualified doctor, it turned out that Clickitt apparently didn't know what a medical liscense was.
** Pierce strongly considers [[MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate Medic]] to be a case of this, although Rex and the rest of the Second Headquarters Squad would probably disagree.
* WorstWeddingEver: George Ogel and Talia Kaahs's wedding day on November 6, 1958 was such a bad day, it essentially became the StartOfDarkness for both General Evil and Dr. Rex. George Ogel believing that Talia had stood him up and become a RunawayBride caused him to become a coldhearted nihilist who would eventually join the Evil OGEL Empire, while Ronald Alexander abducting Talia and lying about it to George was his first major step towards becoming the creator of the Dino Attack.
* WorthlessTreasureTwist: Zig-Zagged in ''Pirates of the Tropical Sea''. The Atlantean temple is filled with tons of Ancient Greek golden treasure that the pirate crew eagerly plunders, but Captain Greybeard declares that it's all "worthless" without the Hourglass of Atlantis, the one treasure he was truly after. They do end up finding the Hourglass, but [[spoiler:Greybeard is swept away by the sea as a result of taking it]], causing Mary Rose to [[WasItReallyWorthIt wonder if the Hourglass was really worth it]].
* WorthyOpponent:
** Dust viewed Rockford as a match for his intellect.
** Blaire Darkling/Matthew Vherestorm to Kareem Nazareno.
* WouldHurtAChild:
** While there has been no explicit mention of children being killed, Rotor has shown that he has no problem torturing them and possibly even ''enjoys'' doing so.
** Dust grew up in an abusive household. His [[AlcoholicParent alcoholic father]] would often hit the ten-year-old boy.
*** Michelle Glados also grew up under similar circumstances as Dust.
* WouldYouLikeToHearHowTheyDied:
** According to Word Of God, this is how Rex learned that Finister killed Roger Remous.
** Kotua taunted Rex by telling him about how Perfect Chaos drowned all his tamed Mutant Dinos, including Trouble. [[spoiler:Of course, since this was just an illusion and we later confirm that Trouble was still alive, this is most likely a subversion where nobody actually died.]]
** [[spoiler:The Darkitect]] was about to tell Greybeard how Sir Robert Batrick died, but Greybeard cut him off with a ShutUpHannibal
* WrenchWhack: Engineer caught TheMole by hitting him in the head with a wrench.
* WriterOnBoard:
** Let's face it. The negative portrayals of Agents, Power Miners, and Plastic Serpent all stem from the fact that the writers don't like them and [[AuthorTract want to preach about how much they don't like them]], regardless of how good they actually might be.
** Plastic Serpent is probably the worst case of the lot. The negative portrayals of Agents and Power Miners were largely the result of NostalgiaFilter and players growing up on their spiritual predecessors, but it was at least made clear that this may simply be the viewpoint of many of the characters and not absolute fact; additionally, Agents and Power Miners were progressively depicted in a better light over the course of the RPG, thanks to characters like Osprey and Semick. Plastic Serpent, meanwhile was a completely unnecessary allegory to emphasize a claim that later turned out to be entirely false [[note]]Atton Rand was trying to get back at players mistaking Snake for an {{Expy}} of [[VideoGame/MetalGear Solid Snake]] rather than the [[Film/EscapeFromNewYork Snake Plissken]], and obtaining some very flimsy "evidence" concluded that Solid Snake was a rip-off of Snake Plissken. He then proceeded to write a bunch of posts in which "Snake Plissken" beat up "Solid Snake" to emphasize his opinion that Snake Plissken was better, and ignored his fellow players' attempts to suggest alternative theories towards the characters' similarities.[[/note]]. Admittedly it's made all the worse by the fact that he tried to change Solid Snake from a government-hired badass mercenary into a low-life criminal scumbag who ended up being unintentionally sympathetic while the "better" Snake came off as a complete {{Jerkass}} at best [[note]]Yes, the original Snake Plissken was kinda a jerk, but it worked in the context of his movie because it was the kind of attitude necessary to survive in his world, and between the authoritarian police chief and the "Duke of New York" he looks pretty nice in comparison[[/note]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:X]]
* XanatosGambit: [[spoiler:[[TheManBehindTheMan Baron Typhonus]], being the true [[TheChessmaster Chessmaster]] behind the Dino Attack, came up with a Xanatos Gambit to ensure the destruction of LEGO Planet. Bring the Maelstrom Crystal to the Maelstrom Temple? He becomes powerful enough to destroy LEGO Planet. Destroy the crystal? He'll still become powerful enough, just give him a little more time. Close the Maelstrom vortex within the temple? As long as there's Maelstrom in the Mutant Dinos, Baron Typhonus is never truly banished, and the chaos and destruction of the Mutant Dinos will grant him the power to eventually destroy LEGO Planet. Defeat Dr. Rex? Baron Typhonus uses the Maelstrom in Dr. Rex's body to [[DemonicPossession possess him]] and turn him into an SNKBoss to lead the Mutant Dinos to victory. Essentially, no matter what happens, the Maelstrom grows powerful enough and [[ApocalypseWow LEGO Planet is ultimately destroyed]]. Baron Typhonus wins.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Y]]
* YankTheDogsChain: Letting Rex and Amanda finally [[WartimeWedding marry]] before [[spoiler:killing off Amanda]]? Now that's just cruel.
* YeOldeButcheredeEnglishe: Lord Vladek attempted to speak Olde Englishe, but mixed up pronouns and stuck -eth at the end of random words. [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by Greybeard and later King Joseph Race, with Greybeard convincing Vladek to stop bothering with trying to speak Olde Englishe. Because Fladek never met Greybeard, he still spoke with YeOldeButcheredeEnglishe.
* YesMan: Gunderson, the assistant to agent French Fries who reluctantly carried out all of his orders, including those associated with exposing the Antarctica mission (which involved getting the story published on ''the front page'' of the local newspaper, which turned out not to be such a good idea).
* YetAnotherChristmasCarol: Greybeard's flashback/dream sequence was heavily inspired by ''Literature/AChristmasCarol'', with the storyline drawing from Scrooge's journey into the past and the spirit inspired by the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come.
* YouALLShareMyStory: How many times have Rex, Reptile, Hotwire, Zenna, Andrew, Zachary, etc. met up with each other?
* YouAndWhatArmy: ''Because Of You'' retains the spirit of this trope while avoiding the stock phrase itself. When Talia Kaahs attempts to blackmail Tony Twister, he points out that she's all alone. She responds by signaling a squadron of Skeleton Drones to back her up.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: Andrew's final speech to Rex can basically be summed up as this.
* YouCalledMeXItMustBeSerious:
** Variation. If Chompy says "please", it must be serious.
** Rex usually refers to Zachary Virchaus as "Zachary" or "Virchaus". He called him "Zach" just before he sacrificed his Creative Spark.
* YouDoNotWantToKnow: It's probably better that we don't find out what horrific procedure Pierce was put through when Enter and Return were treating him for exposure to super-hot-spicy-tongue-melting-jail-cell-door-opening-pizza.
* YouExclamation: Said by Rex when he saw Wallace Bishop in the Temple of Creation.
* YouHaveFailedMe: Said by [[spoiler:[[BadBoss the Darkitect]]]] while killing Ahua.
* YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe: Spoken far too many times to count, though one notable example is that Glados said this as a ShoutOut to ''[[Videogame/{{Portal2}} Portal 2]]'' when she saw that [[spoiler:[[HeroicSecondWind Trouble was still alive]]]].
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: While [[spoiler:the Darkitect]] could heal his subordinates, he sometimes [[BadBoss purposely left some Stromlings to die]] after being critically wounded, such as Kiddy. Ahua was killed by the Maelstrom for this reason.
* YouJustHadToSayIt: Hotwire noted that Greybeard just HAD to mention the warm, cozy fire...
* YouKnowWhatTheySay: According to Dr. Robert Nicholas, [[Videogame/ShadowTheHedgehog the more, the merrier]]!
* YouLookLikeYouveSeenAGhost: Rex to Frozeen, after the latter caught a glimpse of Ben Gunn using the Super Teleport Pad.
* YouJustToldMe: Dodged by Rex, who knew better than to reply to Dr. Glados's question regarding Chompy. However, it was said that Frozeen was the one who warned Rex about this trope, suggesting that Frozeen (who disguised himself numerous times during Mission Deep Freeze as an Ice Drone and later took advantage of having a G.E. Body identical to that of General Evil) fell for this at least once.
* YouMeanXmas: In the Director's Cut, the Brickster says, "what are we waiting for, Frostivus?" This refers to the ''VideoGame/LEGOUniverse'' winter holiday that just so happens to resemble Christmas.
* YouNoTakeCandle: Some of the [=TumTum=] Tribesmen, such as Taglong, spoke with broken English, although this trope was averted by Achu.
* YouShallNotPass: Libo, who destroyed the Stone Tower Bridge (while still standing on it) to prevent the Mutant Dinos from following his friends.
* YoureInsane: Rex says this to Michelle Glados when she reveals that she's still planning on letting the apocalypse carry on [[ForScience in the name of science]].
%%* YoungGun: Lance Williams.
* YourApprovalFillsMeWithShame: Mostly a result from compliments of Ogel, [[spoiler:the Darkitect]], and Dust. For example, in ''Because Of You'', when Talia receives Ogel's appraisal at her wedding, it worries her because she realizes he's sizing her up for a possible role in the Evil OGEL Empire.
* YourAnswerToEverything:
** Give Firecracker a problem, any problem- and I guarantee you 99.9% percent of the time he'll find a way to work [[StuffBlowingUp explosives]] into his solution.
** In a comm conversation, a minor character ([[AllThereInTheManual named Bacon on the agents page]]) responded to a series of problems (a guy somehow nailing his finger to a birdhouse, a malfunctioning engine, and the same guy getting attacked by a mutant Tyrannosaurus rex) with "Rub some bacon on it". Strangely, this apparently worked.
* YourDaysAreNumbered: [[spoiler:Rex]], who is slowly dying thanks to [[spoiler:Dr. Rex essentially poisoning himself with Jugend Serum and Maelstrom.]]
* YourHeadASplode:
** Katerina Schattenberg blows up the [[NeverSmileAtACrocodile Stromling Crocodile's]] head with a unstable cosmotronic ray. Later, Hertz does it with an oxygen canister to a Mutant T-Rex.
** Alas, poor Spy. World's best infiltrator did not stand a chance against a shotgun to the face.
* YourLittleDismissiveDiminutive: Used too often to list every example, but villains do love referring to Amanda as Rex's "little girlfriend" and Trouble as Rex's "little pet".
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Z]]
* ZombieAdvocate: Some idealist extremists, such as Rex, are Zombie Advocates towards Mutant Dinos.
[[/folder]]
