!!!''Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG'' provides examples of:

[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder:G]]
* GameWithinAGame: ''Disasters & Dinosaurs'' is a role-playing game that is played by characters within this role-playing game.
* GangOfHats: The Raptors gang set themselves apart from usual street gangs with their raptor-inspired iconography.
* GangplankGalleon: Pirates Forbidden Island is a pirate-themed location in this game.
* GasChamber:
** The entire XERRD Fortress facility became this once the DeadlyGas defense system was activated.
** In the Director's Cut, XERRD's prisoner cells in the Dino Island Laboratory also have a DeadlyGas that can be used on its occupant. Dr. Rex demonstrates this on Frozeen, nearly causing him to suffocate.
* GatlingGood: Minerva ended up using one of Heavy's gatling guns after her Fire Hammer was downed by Oswald.
* GeckoEnding: The original ''Toys/LEGODinoAttack'' storyline ended with Dino Attack team driving the Mutant Dinos out of the city, but Specs acknowledges that the mysteries surrounding the dinosaurs' origins are LeftHanging and he fears that the dino attack can happen again unless the answers are found. Because no canonical explanation was ever provided, ''Dino Attack RPG'' had to come up with its own explanation in 2007, introducing {{Canon Foreigner}}s Dr. Rex and XERRD as the creators of the Mutant Dinos, as well as eventually bringing in the Maelstrom from ''VideoGame/LEGOUniverse''. A conclusive GrandFinale ends with Dr. Rex's defeat, XERRD's surrender, and the Maelstrom's banishment to ensure the definitive end to the dino attack, resulting in the toyline's loose ends being neatly tied up in this RPG adaptation.
* GenderBlenderName: While multiple characters are named "Sam" (all being male), Andrea's spouse Sam Orange's gender was originally left ambiguous in part due to HideYourLesbians. Ultimately, "Sam" was revealed to be short for "Samantha".
* GenderConcealingWriting:
** In the Maelstrom Temple, to reflect the ignorance of his characters, [=PeabodySam=] refrained from identifying Pterisa's gender. Amusingly, although [=PeabodySam=] struggled to play the trope straight, Brikman [=McStudz=] simply averted the trope by using "her" right off the bat; this was fixed in the Director's Cut.
** In the Director's Cut, TheMole is referred to as "they", "them", "their", etc. until the character is seen by Rex.
* GenreSavvy: Discussed during the infiltration of the XERRD Fortress. When they were trying to find a place to hide some unconscious mooks that were MuggedForDisguise, Amanda warns her teammates not to hide the bodies in a utility closet like in SpyFiction movies... because the people in charge of security most likely have also seen those movies, and so the closet will be the first place they check.
* GenreShift: Granted it's very hard to determine exactly what genre this would be, but different writers lean toward different angles. While it could be consistently classified as a war story, Between That Guy and Atton Rand it comes closer to science fiction of varying degrees of hardness, with efforts to keep things semi-grounded in reality; whereas Andrewnuva treats it more like fantasy. Many of Atton Rand's later posts could almost border on cosmic horror on a potentially Lovecraftian scale, while [=Andrewnuva199=]'s still opted for the relatively lighthearted tone of the source material.
* GeorgeLucasAlteredVersion: To celebrate its 10th anniversary, ''Dino Attack: Legacy'' was rereleased with a doubled framerate, fixing OffModel characters, adding new characters and scenes, adjusting the soundtrack, and adding sound effects and dialogue.
* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: Not in ''Dino Attack RPG'' itself, but in ''Dino Attack: Legacy'', Databoard knocks some sense into Kotua with a DopeSlap.
%%* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: Please check the trope page to make sure your example fits the current definition.
* GiantSquid: The Octosaur and Mutant Vinscale Octomus are both enormous cephalopod monsters.
* TheGhost: In a humorous shout-out to ''Film/TheUsualSuspects'', there have been a few passing references to "Keyser Soze", a crime boss (one who Pierce believed to be a myth). Given the film actually treats Soze as a mythical figure (and in the process makes him even more terrifying), a Keyser Soze Expy does not appear in the RPG.
* GhostCity: LEGO City was initially this, although it is been somewhat repaired and some of the population is back. However, it is still played with Sandy Bay and other cities occasionally visited.
* GhostTown: Gold City used to be a bustling Old Western town, but was abandoned during the Dino Attack, leaving it in this eerie empty state.
* GhostPlanet: This was pretty much the state of the LEGO Planet during the Dino Attack. With most of the surviving population kept in remote refugee facilities, there is a disturbing lack of people throughout the world.
* GivenNameReveal: Greybeard's real name was left unknown until the illusion of Beatrice referred to him as "Grisbarba" in the Maelstrom Temple.
* GladiatorGames: GAIA Squad was forced to partake in arena battles against Mutant Dinos.
* TheGlassesComeOff: Inverted; Frank Einstein's WhamLine came as the result of him putting ''on'' the glasses.
* GoMadFromTheRevelation: Oswald Fabello finally snapped upon realizing that [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus]] was truly alive.
* GodBeforeDogma: A non-religious variation. With the main villains being a group of {{Mad Scientist}}s who justify their atrocious actions ForScience, it would be all too easy to see ''Dino Attack RPG'' as saying that ScienceIsBad. To counteract this, many Dino Attack agents are {{Science Hero}}es who call out XERRD for their perversion of science.
* GodzillaThreshold: The Einstein Device, despite being an InstantWinCondition, is reserved for when things seem absolutely hopeless without it.
* GoingToGiveItMoreEnergy: The Overloader works by providing the target with a boost of energy before destroying it.
* GondorCallsForAid:
** Chompy sought the aid of the dinosaurs and [=TumTum=] tribesmen during the battle for the Temple of Hotep III.
** Dino Attack Team asked Alpha Team for aid during the final battle.
* GoneHorriblyRight: XERRD intended to make Rex act like a Minifig. They succeeded... a little too well.
* GoodScarsEvilScars:
** Greybeard has a cool scar over his eye.
** General received some nasty burns as General Evil.
** [[EvilPoacher Scratch]] also has multiple scars on his face, primarily from his work with Sam Sinister.
** Talia Kaahs received some nasty scars across her face, harshly averting BeautyIsNeverTarnished.
* GoodSmokingEvilSmoking: Smoking usually designates that a character is either a badass, like Spy, or a {{jerkass}}, like Trigger.
* GoryDiscretionShot: PlayedForLaughs. Slash's escape from the [=ShadowTech=] base is censored due to "excess violence and clothes-swapping".
* GoshDangItToHeck: Although characters PardonMyKlingon most of the time nowadays, sometimes they resort to this. Usually more common earlier on in the RPG's lifetime.
* GrandTheftPrototype:
** As seen in ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG'', this was how Alpha Team got hold of the ''Silver Scorpion''.
** Dino Attack Team stole one of XERRD's Dino Track Transports and, by modifying Iron Predator blueprints, subsequently started building Dino Track Transports of their own.
* GratuitousGerman:
** Kuru met an unnamed XERRD scientist who only spoke German.
** Zed Provhezor and Medic will throw in some German (usually "ja" and "und") into their English speech.
* GratuitousSpanish: Señor Palomar will throw in some Spanish into his English speech.
* GraveMarkingScene:
** At the end of ''Ghosts'', Leonidas Spartana visits a Dino Attack memorial to pay respect to his fallen comrades.
** At the end of ''Antithesis'', Silencia Venomosa visits the Remous family plot to see the headstones of her parents. [[spoiler:She speculates that, in the Antiverse, the reverse might be happening at that very moment: Anti-Amadeus and Anti-Rosaria visiting the graves of Anti-Roger and Anti-Amanda.]]
* GrayRainOfDepression: The stormy weather during the FinalBattle easily turned into this as a result of [[spoiler:Rex going into an AngstComa following Amanda's death]].
* GrayingMorality: Many of Atton Rand's earlier posts started off as standard black-and-white morality, with the kind and compassionate Zenna with her loyal friends against definitely evil characters. When the idealist-realist feud broke out, he specifically portrayed the idealists as good and the realists as downright evil. During the Adventurers' Island campaign meanwhile, he introduced Rotor, the aggressive and outright brutal realist as a good guy
* TheGreatSerpent: The Ice Snake King is forty feet long.
* GreatWhiteHunter: Sniper and Adventure both have traits of this trope, especially in their pre-Dino Attack lives.
* GreenEyedMonster: Dr. Rex, whose first true act of evil was kidnapping Talia Kaahs on her wedding day out of jealousy.
* TheGrimReaper: The spirit from Greybeard's dream evokes the Grim Reaper, being a mysterious spirit dressed in dark robes who ends the dream by killing Greybeard with a sword.
* GuiltFreeExterminationWar: Played with, discussed, and defied. The Mutant Dinos are apparently DumbDinos that exist only to kill and destroy, and therefore most of Dino Attack Team doesn't think twice about exterminating the monsters responsible for the apocalypse. However, the efforts of Rex and other like-minded agents reveal that the Mutant Dinos are actually intelligent {{Non Malicious Monster}}s forcibly controlled by Dr. Rex [[spoiler:and the Darkitect]], and therefore these agents go to great lengths to try finding alternative means of victory. This is the source of a lot of conflict between Dino Attack agents.
* GuysSmashGirlsShoot: Zachary Virchaus used a knife while Minerva Fabello used a gun in the Maelstrom Temple. Zig-Zagged later on during the fight with Blaire Darkling; Minerva and Holly shot, Zach alternated between shooting and smashing, and Zelda smashed.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:H]]
* HadTheSillyThingInReverse: As a ShoutOut to ''Film/IndependenceDay'', Rex's first attempt to drive an [[TankGoodness Iron Predator]] after several months of inactivity resulted in driving in reverse because the control instructions were accidentally placed upside-down.
* HailfirePeaks: Adventurers' Island is essentially ShiftingSandLand + JungleJapes + {{Prehistoria}}.
* HairTriggerTemper: Clint Wayne once nearly shot Cabin because of this.
* HalfHumanHybrid: The Quasifigus Hybrids are half-human, half-Mutant Dino.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: Poor Randal. Before he died, his lower half was disintegrated by Paulie Gonepus's Maelaser.
* HalloweenEpisode:
** One of [=PeabodySam=]'s posts, written on October 31, 2010, was intended as a Halloween Episode as it prominently featured [[EverythingsDeaderWithZombies Stromlings]] and Skeleton Mummies.
** A "Fifteeniversary" post features Erik Paulson telling a ghost story to trick-or-treaters on Halloween, and then getting a disturbing phone call from the WesternAnimation/HiddenSide.
* HandWave:
** How did XERRD fit a Mutant T-Rex, [[Franchise/{{LEGO}} LEGO's]] largest non-brick-built dinosaur, in a disguise the size of a Minifig? Some sort of shrinking serum that reacts with oxygen. But, if you think that's bad, [=PeabodySam=]'s original explanation was even worse: XERRD just somehow ''stuffed'' Rex into that disguise really, really well.
** How did [[Toys/RockRaiders Axle]] suddenly end up at Eldorado Fortress? Teleporter malfunction.
** In the Director's Cut, how did the villains escape their cells in the Dino Island Laboratory? Brickster just laughs and points out it wasn't the first time he got out of jail free, and doesn't offer any further explanation.
* HangingJudge: Rotor's already pretty aggressive on the battlefield. If you want the defendant to live, you should keep him out of the court room. French Fries, too.
%%* HannibalLecture: Dust is a master of this trope.
* HappilyFailedSuicide: In ''Time and Place'', after Anubis nearly kills himself in a game of RussianRoulette, he decides that his purpose in life is to save the lives of others. With that epiphany, he seems much happier with the fact that he is still alive.
* HatsOffToTheDead: After learning that [[spoiler:Semick]] did not survive the final battle, Sam Throramebi solemnly took off his hardhat.
* HesBack: Rex after recovering from his HeroicBSOD during the FinalBattle. [[ItsPersonal And he's back... with a vengeance!]]
* HesDeadJim: Especially in [=PeabodySam=]'s writing, a sure way to tell if a character was KilledOffForReal is if that character [[BloodFromTheMouth coughs up blood]], goes limp (especially if that character's hand is held by another character), and/or [[DiesWideOpen stares off into oblivion]].
* HeartwarmingOrphan:
** Kate, though she's technically not an orphan seeing as her mother is still alive and well, but she still experienced a rough childhood, never knew her own father, and lost the only other close relative at a young age.
** Mary Rose, who softened Greybeard's heart after he found her alone in the streets of LEGO City, both her parents killed by Mutant Raptors.
* HeelFaceBrainwashing: Slash reprogrammed Harpunia to fight for Dino Attack Team. The reprogrammed Harpunia had no moral qualms about fighting his fellow [=ShadowTech=] robots immediately afterward.
* HeelFaceDoorSlam: This was Pterisa's greatest fear. She knew that having a place in a post-war society meant that she had to make sure Dino Attack Team trusted her and knew that she was on their side; however, she feared that the reputation of Quasifigus Hybrids meant that, if they discovered her identity, she would forever lose her chance at gaining their trust. [[spoiler:Once the Darkitect figured this out, he attempted to slam the door in her face by revealing her identity and reminding the present Dino Attack agents of the Quasifigus Hybrids' untrustworthy history. Fortunately, thanks to Andrew, Amanda, and Rex, it didn't work.]]
* HeelFaceTurn:
** Of the five villains allied with Dino Attack Team, General is the only one who performed a HeelFaceTurn.
** Dr. Strangebrick and Dr. Cyborg have arguably performed heel face turns seeing as they are both former XERRD scientists now working with the Dino Attack team.
** In a very Darth Vader-esque example, not only does Minerva's suffering force Zach to change his ways but overthrow the big boss and save the girl.
** XERRD itself pulled a HeelFaceTurn in the final battle, seeing the error of their ways and join the Dino Attack Team in stopping the Mutant Dinos.
* HeelRaceTurn: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] by the Quasifigus Hybrids. They appear to have switched sides twice during the war: first a HeelFaceTurn, then a FaceHeelTurn. However, they never actually were on Dino Attack Team's side; [[FakeDefector they were working for XERRD the whole time]], and their Heel Face Turn was just a ploy and thus there was no real Face Heel Turn.
* HeelRealization: What ultimately led to [[TheAtoner General's]] HeelFaceTurn. Rex also had a Heel Realization in the form of a TomatoInTheMirror. Garry also had a turn of sorts, when he started to feel bad about his role in torturing Jenny.
** Dust had his HeelRealization at the last possible moment. While he stood atop the steps of the temple, he came to the sudden realization he was a jerk. [[spoiler:Sadly, he was shot moments later.]]
** Many members of XERRD, including Blaire Darkling, William Lee, Robert Nicholas, and Alvin Gadd, began to realize that their so-called destiny to repopulate the planet with dinosaurs was nothing more than [[spoiler:a plot by [[OmnicidalManiac Baron Typhonus]] to destroy the LEGO Planet]]. As a result, Blaire Darkling had XERRD align itself with the Dino Attack Team to fix its mistakes.
** Oswald Fabello had one upon realizing [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus was alive and had manipulated the entire Dino Attack]].
** It's debatable, but after nearly being killed by a High-Voltage Half-Track, [[BigBad Dr. Rex]] might have had one. Rex, at least, was trying to invoke this trope by drawing out Dr. Rex's death long enough for him to reflect upon all the pain and suffering that he caused when he created the Dino Attack. It's also worth noting that Dr. Rex did not want to continue the fight when he was [[spoiler:[[DemonicPossession possessed by the Darkitect]] and [[ObiWanMoment allowed himself to be killed]] by the Einstein Device, though how much of this was affected by a HeelRealization versus affected by being a DeathSeeker is unknown.]]
* HellishCopter:
** The T-1 Typhoon used by Rex, Hotwire, and Zyra to travel to the Goo Caverns was probably the least safe method of traveling to Ogel's Island imaginable.
** And then there's the ''Talon'' after it became Maelstrom-infected...
* HelpYourselfInThePast:
** FUTURE went back in time to the Dino Attack in order to assist their past selves in taking over the world.
** The premise of ''Because Of You'' is that [[spoiler:Talia Kaahs]] goes back in time to the day when she was [[spoiler:abducted by Dr. Ronald Alexander]] with the intent of saving her past self.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: Many of the recurring [=NPCs=] who are off on their own adventures when they are not in the spotlight.
* HeroWithBadPublicity: Invoked; FUTURE planned to make Alpha Team look bad by showing them consorting with the enemy, i.e. PBB, Chompy, and Little Bot hanging out with a pair of Mutant T-Rexes (Rex and Amanda).
* HeroicBSOD:
** The goal of [[spoiler:[[FaceYourFears the Darkitect's illusions.]]]] He succeeded in giving Rex, Katerina, Minerva, and Hotwire Heroic [=BSODs=], although the effects did not last as long as he had hoped.
** Andrew hit a minor BSOD upon realizing fully that LEGO Island, his hometown whose salvation was a major factor in him signing up for the team, had vanished into the Torn World.
** Pterisa suffered a massive HeroicBSOD once [[spoiler:the Darkitect]] revealed her identity to the Dino Attack Team. One moment, she was confident and stoic. Her Heroic BSOD left her extremely fragile and insecure.
** Sam Race crashed hard after he [[spoiler:failed to save his father]], and he never fully recovered.
** Rex was suffering a massive HeroicBSOD after the deaths of [[spoiler:Amanda and Trouble]], leaving him in an AngstComa.
** Minerva suffered a minor HeroicBSOD after [[spoiler:Athena's death]]. She then entered another one after [[spoiler:killing Oswald]], only forcing herself out of it after [[spoiler:being goaded by the Darkitect into keep fighting and to avenge her fallen family.]]
** Kate had one for a while but recovered enough to help in the final battle. However, the aftereffects of said Heroic BSOD include PTSD.
* HeroicComedicSociopath: The entire Second Headquarters Squad in one form or another, but Heavy is probably the worst. Of course, it should hardly come as a surprise given [[Videogame/TeamFortress2 their inspiration]].
* HeroicSafeMode:
** Rex is prone to this. The results range from rescuing Dr. Einstein from a Mutant Raptor while using only rope to beating a Mutant Lizard to death with a metal pipe after it threatened Amanda Claw.
** Frozeen also has his own Hero Safe Mode which results in {{Unstoppable Rage}}s.
* HeroicSacrifice:
** Tracer, who allowed his entire Creative Spark to be used as Maelstrom antidote after having been fatally shot by Zelda Frodongan.
** Mur allowed himself to be killed by the Dino Attack Team so Cranky could finally be defeated.
** [[spoiler:Frank Einstein]] sacrificed his life so that his Creative Spark could empower the Imagination orb and defeat [[spoiler:the Darkitect]].
** [[spoiler:Adventure]] sacrificed himself to buy Rex and others enough time to escape Dr. Rex.
** Libo performed one to save General, Shock, and Sam Throramebi.
** [[spoiler:Semick and Swerve/Septimus]] each performed one to hold off Dr. Rex from reaching the headquarters.
** [[spoiler:Rex]] sacrificed himself to let his team use his Creative Spark to power the Einstein Device.
* HeroicSecondWind: [[spoiler:Trouble's]] HeroicSecondWind is probably the most notable, since he [[spoiler:got up from being mortally wounded, withstood being shot several more times, and was able to kill Michelle Glados with his dying breaths.]]
* HeroicWillpower:
** Amanda Claw is the only known individual to have been infected with Mutant Dino serum and fought off the mental effects through sheer willpower alone. [[{{Animorphism}} It still transformed her into a Mutant T-Rex, though.]]
** Pterisa had enough mental willpower to break free of the Maelstrom's control and Dr. Rex's enslavement.
** ADO Captain Yena reversed Maelstrom infection with nothing but his own mind.
* HesitationEqualsDishonesty: Every time. For instance, when Rex was bluffing about Dr. Rex [[BlatantLies being a distant relative]], he took very long pauses between his words.
* HiddenElfVillage: Adventurers' Island Aztec Village is home to the [=TumTum=] Tribe, a group of Amazonian natives. They can come across as untrusting and xenophobic towards outsiders due to the lengths they have to go to protect their home.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: Cabin may be a tough pilot under normal circumstances, but she is still the only agent to have gained any sense of trust from a captured XERRD teenager, and has since gone out of her way to ensure that both XERRD prisoners are given fair treatment.
* HideYourLesbians: Before (the imposter) Pyro's [[SamusIsAGirl gender reveal]], Pyro's wiki page stated that he had a wife and kids. When Pyro was revealed to actually be a woman, this made Pyro the ''Dino Attack RPG'''s first explicitly homosexual character. However, as [[ExecutiveMeddling not everyone was not happy with this revelation and wanted Pyro to remain heterosexual]], [=PeabodySam=] changed Pyro's biography from "wife and kids" to a more generic "family" to avoid any further controversies. Ultimately, this was averted when Andrea Jackson Orange and Maria shared a kiss.
* HijackedByGanon: For much of the RPG's run, the BigBad was Dr. Rex, an original character. [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus]], a canon LEGO villain, did not actually appear until the last few months of this seven-year-long RPG. In that time, he revealed himself to be TheManBehindTheMan [[spoiler:and ultimately [[DemonicPossession took control of Dr. Rex's body]].]] [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by the comm chatter in the FinalBattle.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Two examples by Dr. Rex in the FinalBattle. First, he wore armor fashioned from silge metal, which is [[MadeOfIndestructium completely invincible]]... but, like all metal, [[AttackItsWeakPoint is a high electrical conductor]], allowing Adventure to deal a particularly-excruciating almost-death blow upon Dr. Rex with his [[ShockAndAwe High-Voltage Half-Track]]. Then, [[spoiler:the Maelstrom experiments he performed plus his self-induced Mutant Dino mutation allowed [[TheManBehindTheMan the Darkitect]] to [[DemonicPossession take control of his body]], giving him a FateWorseThanDeath.]]
* HoldYourHippogriffs: In the Director's Cut, Rex occasionally uses a variation of the "cat out of the bag" idiom while replacing "cat" with "dino".
* HoldingBackThePhlebotinum: The Einstein Device, being an InstantWinCondition, had to be held back until the very last moment. This has been justified since the Einstein Device was largely experimental, leaving it unfinished and untested by the time of the FinalBattle. Most of the later stages of the battle were devoted to finishing the device, which was also dangerously close malfunctioning at the time, and it could not be fired until Viper had a clear shot at Dr. Rex.
* HoldingHands: Considering the amount of love stories in the seven-year-old RPG, it would be too impractical to list every time this happened. However, a notable example is when everyone held hands and calmly accepted their fate in ''[[WhatIf December 21, 2010]]''.
* HollywoodHacking: Lampshaded in ''Antithesis''. Scorpion claims that he solves his problems by typing really fast while saying some mumbo jumbo.
* HollywoodHeartAttack: Rex's chest pains, although slightly justified in that it's not actually a normal heart attack and actually a side effect of [[spoiler:[[YourDaysAreNumbered the Maelstrom poisoning his body]]]].
* {{Hologram}}: The messages contained within the chess pieces from Dino Attack Team's [[TheMole mole]] in XERRD, [[spoiler:Frank Einstein]], projected pre-recorded holograms of their messenger.
* HostageSituation: Done numerous times to poor Kate Bishop in the Maelstrom, first by Rotor and then by Walter Breen. In Rotor's case, it would have failed to work, because [[YouWouldntShootMe shooting Kate would have prompted Wallace Bishop to shoot Rotor]]; Walter Breen, on the other hand, was using Kate as a HumanShield.
* HostileShowTakeover: Not in ''Dino Attack RPG'' itself, but on AprilFoolsDay 2010, Dr. Rex hacked the wiki and turned it into a XERRD propaganda website.
* HowTheMightyHaveFallen: Greybeard mused this after he seemingly defeated Dr. Rex, only afterwards realizing that it was a RedHerring.
* HowWeGotHere: ''Love and War'' opens with Rex, Zero, and Phantom fleeing from Perfect Chaos. It then flashes back to the events leading up to the chase, including Kotua transforming Chaos into Perfect Chaos.
* HubCity: LEGO City is where Dino Attack Headquarters is located, so most missions begin and end in this city.
* HumanShield: Stromling Zachary used Holly Vinyaya as one, and Kate Bishop became Walter Breen's Human Shield as part of his HostageSituation. Blaire Darkling later used Zachary as one.
* HumanityEnsues: According to his signup form, Fox uses a serum that turns Mutant Dinos into humans, which he then recruits to turn even more dinos into humans. However, this was later declared CanonDiscontinuity.
* HumanoidAliens: Laxus and Dino Aliens both fit the standard humanoid anatomy despite being from alien worlds.
* HumansAreBastards: Dust's philosophy for most of his life is that man at his core is a selfish and opportunistic bastard.
* HuntingTheMostDangerousGame: [[Literature/TheMostDangerousGame The Trope Namer]] was referenced by Stromling Zachary as he prepared to hunt down Frozeen and Greybeard.
* HydraProblem: If one of the Mutant Vinscale Octomus's tentacles were severed, two more would grow back in its place.
* HypocriticalHumour:
** Zed Provhezor mockingly told [[HandicappedBadass Rex]] a variation of the DreamCrushingHandicap trope. [[EvilCripple Look who's talking]]...
** Rotor talking to [[BoxedCrook Snake]] about how absurd it is that they let unrepentant criminals into the team in exchange for pardons... lampshaded when Rotor cuts himself off upon remembering that ''he himself'' is a war criminal guilty of attempted murder and torturing a ''child''.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:I]]
* ICannotSelfTerminate: In the original version of Rev Raptor's Heroic Suicide, he asked Banchito to do the deed. However, since Banchito was {{retcon}}ned into CanonDiscontinuity in order to work with modern RPG canon, this trope no longer applies.
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: The maxim of many realist agents, including Greybeard. Rex also used this line when explaining why he did not tell Amanda about Roger's death.
* IDidntTellYouBecauseYoudBeUnhappy: After Roger confides in Specs that Amanda is deeply troubled, Specs and Rex decide to lie to Amanda about Roger's death in order to prevent her from feeling that she had lost her LivingEmotionalCrutch.
%%* IDieFree: [[spoiler:Trouble]].
* IDontLikeYouAndYouDontLikeMe: During the final battle, Frozeen rescues Grease. He acknowledges that they hate each other's guts but have to look out for one another during this battle.
* IHaveAFamily: Bartholomew Enderson used this line when he was confronted by Silencia Venomosa. He later confessed that it was the greatest mistake he ever made, since she decided to use it as leverage against him.
* IHaveManyNames: A major character trait of Trigger, although we've only seen two of his names in-universe (the other name being "Schiess").
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: As a child, Kate never really had any close friends aside from her mother. She still has trouble getting along with the rest of the team, although she has recently started to form a bond with Pierce.
* IKnowWhatYouFear: [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus]] has the ability to see what people fear and then manifest it as an illusion.
* IKnowYoureInThereSomewhereFight: Andrew tries this before fighting Stromling Zach during Mutant Dino attack in the camp. It was later used by both Minerva and Andrew while fighting Zach in the Temple of Hotep III.
* ILetGwenStacyDie: How Rex felt after the death of [[spoiler:Amanda Claw]].
* TheILoveYouStigma: In his senior year of high school, Frozeen made the mistake of finally confessing his love to Shannon Grimton... while she was already in a relationship with another man.
* InconsistentSpelling:
** One of [=ShadowTech=]'s Four Guardians is introduced as Harpunia, apparently a misspelling of Harpuia. The character's name continues to switch back and forth between the two spellings. The Downloadable Archive maintains "Harpunia" as the most consistent spelling, while the Director's Cut changes everything to the "Harpuia" spelling.
** In ''At War's End'', Atton Rand spells Flatfoot Thompson as Flatfoot Thomsen, Fort Legoredo as Fort Legorado, and Silencia Venomosa as Silencia Venemosa. These are corrected in the Director's Cut.
* INeedAFreakingDrink: After having some problems of his own and finding out that two of his teammates were killed, Spy ''really'' needed a cigarette to clear his head so he could figure out the identity of TheMole.
* INeverSaidItWasPoison: In ''Because Of You'', George realizes that Talia murdered Ronald in Timeline 1958-B when she says that Ronald was shot, which she should not have known (Ronald was officially reported to have drowned).
* ITakeOffenseToThatLastOne: Medic didn't mind being called out on his questionable methods. He ''did'' mind, however, when Pierce falsely accused him of using rusty tools.
* IWasNeverHere:
** [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Edward Korrupte]] made it quite clear to Silencia Venomosa that neither of them were in his office at that time on that day, and they were most certainly not having a conversation about infiltrating Mindstorms, Inc.
** According to Specs, he most certainly did ''not'' have an argument in his office with Rex and Amanda about the identity of the mole.
* IWasQuiteALooker:
** In his youth, General was considerably handsome.
** Assuming the recurring male figure in Ben Gunn's photographs is a younger version of himself, he was also handsome in his youth.
** [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] with Dr. Rex and Katerina Schattenberg, [[OlderThanTheyLook who are still (to a degree) lookers]].
* IllKillYou:
** One of the few phrases that Dromus knows in the Mutant Dino language.
** Rex made it very clear to French Fries that, if French Fries actually did run over Trouble, Rex would kill him.
* ImDyingPleaseTakeMyMacGuffin: J.D., Tracer, [[spoiler:Frank Einstein]], and [[spoiler:Rex]], with the MacGuffin in question being their Creative Sparks which would be used to stop the Maelstrom.
* ImNotAfraidOfYou: Said by Rex to Rotor during his speech about fear versus respect, to enforce the idea that Rex had greater authority than Rotor.
* ImNotDoingThatAgain: Frozeen swears never to relapse into insanity again after deliberately doing so in the Maelstrom Temple.
* ImYourBiggestFan: The Brickster is Ogel's self-proclaimed #1 fanboy.
* ImYourWorstNightmare: Pterisa initially introduces herself as Dino Attack Team's worst nightmare, but then subverts it by adding that she could be their greatest hope.
* InterruptedSuicide: In ''Time and Place'', Anubis's game of RussianRoulette is interrupted by Fate. It is later revealed that, if Fate hadn't interrupted, Anubis would have shot himself.
* IveComeTooFar: This phrase was spoken over the comm chatter as a ShoutOut to ''VideoGame/Left4Dead2''.
* AnIcePerson: Robo-Subzero, Crystal, and the Ice Snake King all have the power to create ice and cold.
* IdealistVsPragmatist: This is the central theme of the "idealists vs. realists" feud. There are idealists such as Rex who believe that the Mutant Dinos deserve to be saved, there are realists such as Greybeard who believe that the Mutant Dinos must be exterminated, and the two sides tend to butt heads a lot over how they should be fighting the Dino Attack war. On at least two instances (the Kotua crisis and the Cam O'Cozy schism), this debate escalated into outright violence.
* IfICantHaveYou: Dr. Rex to Talia Kaahs. He was willing to ruin her marriage with George Ogel out of jealousy, and when she refused to join him during the Dino Attack, he got over his heartbreak by declaring her to be his enemy and trying to kill her.
* IfMyCalculationsAreCorrect: Said by Michelle Glados during the final battle, [[MillionToOneChance regarding Dino Attack Team's chances of winning]].
* IfYouKillHimYouWillBeJustLikeHim:
** Garry's moral issues over whether to turn in Rotor. On the one hand he could keep quiet, allowing the team to keep a good leader that they will need in the upcoming battle, but he is still an accomplice to cold-blooded torture, making him no better. On the other hand, he could turn Rotor in. However, the team would be deprived of the one man who can lead a T-1 squad. He would also most likely be punished himself though probably not as severely as if he kept quiet, and worst of all Rotor might try to kill him out of anger. Interestingly, Garry actually chose to keep quiet, though he deliberately faked Jenny's death to get her as far away from Rotor as possible.
** Called out by Carolyne Provencal when she was at Zach's mercy with her One-Hit Kill Agony Beam staff. Despite wishing to humanely kill Provencal, Zach causes him to go ahead and kill her with the staff.
* ImmediateSelfContradiction: In ''Dino Attack in a Nutshell'', everybody dies, and the survivors live happily ever after.
* ImmortalityBeginsAtTwenty: Dr. Rex began injecting himself with Jugend Serum when he was 27 years old. Kat appears to be in her mid-twenties.
* ImmortalityInducer: Jugend Serum for Dr. Rex, Kat for Katerina Schattenberg.
* ImmortalitySeeker: [[ItRunsInTheFamily One of the few qualities shared by Dr. Rex and Katerina Schattenberg]]; neither of them cared to suffer the ravages of age if they could avoid it.
* ImperialStormtrooperMarksmanshipAcademy: A whole Maelstrom Temple of XERRD Space Marauders and Sorcerers... and not one of them could hit Rex, Amanda, or Rotor. [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by Walter Breen.
* ImplacableMan: Between his [[MadeOfIndestructium silge armor]] and [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus's DivineIntervention]], [[SNKBoss Dr. Rex]] was essentially invincible during the FinalBattle.
* ImpossiblyDeliciousFood: Brickolini's pizza. At least, for everyone not in [[DoesNotLikeSpam the Bishop family.]]
* ImpostorExposingTest: In a ShoutOut to ''Film/{{The Thing|1982}}'', Copper proposed a test for identifying Stromlings that involved mixing their blood with uncontaminated blood. Unfortunately, in yet another shout-out to the same movie, Outpost 31's blood samples were sabotaged before the test could be implemented. Atton Rand toyed with using a similar method to the blood test that ultimately was used in the movie, but this never actually made it into the RPG.
* ImpoverishedPatrician: Dust realized he was one after researching his genealogy. He was descended from the kings of Egypt but was born to an alcoholic father and a drug addicted mother. Both were horrible and pathetic people and dishonored the family name. When Dust left, the knowledge of his royal heritage was all he had.
* ImprobableAge: Dust became a respected archeologist at the Cairo museum at age 20.
* ImprobableAimingSkills: Silencia Venomosa was able to throw a switchblade at a fleeing Keaton and successfully land it in his spine.
* InMediasRes: ''Dino Attack RPG'' begins anywhere from a week to a month after the Dino Attack officially started in April 2010. At this point, Mutant Dinos are already widespread and Rex is already an Elite Agent.
* InSpiteOfANail:
** Discussed in ''Because Of You''. Tony Twister explains that small changes in the past aren't necessarily going to create alternate timelines. He compares it to a rubber band snapping back to its original shape after being stretched and released.
** Despite Dimension 418 and Timeline 1958-D being different universes ''and'' timelines, both alternate histories somehow result in George and Talia Kaahs having a daughter named Sydney, albeit under very different circumstances.
* InTheHood: Anyone wearing a BlackCloak (FUTURE, The Phantom, etc.) typically has a hood to keep their appearance extra mysterious.
* InYourNatureToDestroyYourselves: The fate of Mutant Dinosaurs in ''[[WhatIf December 21, 2010]]'' was that their destructive natures led them to wipe themselves out after the Maelstrom took over.
* IndyEscape:
** Rex rolled a boulder after Phantom's Blizzard Blaster.
** Sam Sinister's squad had to escape a rolling boulder while exploring an Egyptian tomb on Adventurers' Island.
* InelegantBlubbering: ManlyTears are not common in ''Dino Attack RPG''. Instead, expect red eyes, runny noses, and uncontrollable sobbing. Hertz, Frozeen, and Rex are all victims of this trope.
* InescapableNet:
** In his days as a FluffyTamer, Rex used dozens of Inescapable Nets to catch massive mutant dinosaurs.
** [=ShadowTech=] used Inescapable Nets quite often... which is why several [=ShadowTech=] agents were stumped that Rex managed to escape from one of them.
* TheInfiltration: Perhaps thanks to its ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG'' predecessor, ''Dino Attack RPG'' reeks of this trope. Examples of Infiltrations include Dr. Rex planting Rex in the Dino Attack Team (which led to Rex BecomingTheMask), XERRD planting TheMole in Dino Attack Team, Dino Attack Team planting a [[TheMole mole]] in XERRD, and the infiltration squads DressingAsTheEnemy while sneaking about the XERRD Fortress.
* InformalEulogy: Doctor Cyborg's informal but heartfelt eulogy of [[spoiler:Dust]] which was carved into the wall of the temple of Hotep III.
-->Inside these walls lies [[spoiler:Gahiji "Dust" Thutmose]].
-->May the temple he was
-->devoted to in life,
-->Become his resting place
-->in death.
-->He acted like a {{jerk|ass}},
-->but seemed to be changing
-->[[DeathEqualsRedemption when he died]].
* InformedAbility: Mostly, these are ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything.
** Rex is incredibly skilled with ropes, [[ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything even though he only uses ropes about three or four times the entire RPG]].
** Aster Oid, Greybeard, Sam Race, King Joseph Race, and Sir Robert Batrick are apparently skilled racers, but we've only really seen Sam Race behind the wheel.
** Mutant Lizards (and by extension, ''Quasifigus lacteriilia'') are said to be adaptable, never falling for the same trick twice. This really has not been displayed much in ''Dino Attack RPG'', though. Although, numerous times in the final battle, it was mentioned that Greybeard and Frozeen had to occasionally switch tactics to keep the Mutant Lizards from adapting.
** Kat, who is supposedly an expert in security systems, has never demonstrated this beyond escaping a pair of handcuffs.
** Hertz is said to be an expert in cryptology and [[CunningLinguist linguistics]] but has never exhibited this skill.
** Trigger is described as cold and logical, but all of his actions so far have shown him to be hotheaded and almost entirely ruled by emotion.
** Trigger was hired by Dino Attack Team for his driving skills... and we've ''never'' seen him behind the wheel.
* InformedFlaw: Frozeen's Asperger's syndrome, which, despite the character's eight-year-long literary history, never really presented itself until the last few months when Gromtin was introduced.
* InformedJudaism:
** [=PeabodySam=] says that Frank Einstein is Jewish. Given his [[UsefulNotes/AlbertEinstein namesake]], this shouldn't be ''too'' much of a surprise, but there's nothing else in the RPG that would suggest his religion.
** Dr. Solomon Koplowitz is also Jewish, and this is never acknowledged in the RPG.
** On a related note, that guy from that show says Dust is Muslum, however there is no evidence that he follows the faith since he comes off as a skeptic and drinks liquor. Given his background, a rational explanation would be that he is of Islamic descent, and maybe grew up learning Islamic culture, but Dust himself is not very religious and so does not follow the all of standard traditions.
* InformedLoner: Despite Voltage, Kai, Hammer, Magma, and Reptile being Informed Loners, they all ended up working closely with other Dino Attack agents.
* InnocentBystander:
** Trigger's flashback contained a few unfortunate bystanders who happened to be in the way of his illegal job. Of particular note is the unnamed truck driver that was murdered when his cargo was hijacked (though that was self-defense, as he did try to pull a gun), Edward Korrupte's secretary Ursula Bennett who was shot during the heist, and even Dust became one briefly.
** According to Amanda, one of the reasons that the Korrupte assassination is so infamous is because it apparently involved the deaths of many Innocent Bystanders.
* InnocuouslyImportantEpisode: The scene in which Rex learned that Frank Einstein was no longer working in the Dino Attack Hospital Wing, which ultimately set into motion the events leading up to [[spoiler:the reveal of Dino Attack Team's [[TheMole mole]] in XERRD]].
* InsaneTrollLogic: French Fries claimed he chose his codename because "It's a codename so stupid it'll be the last codename anyone expects".
* InsanityImmunity: Whenever Frozeen goes insane, his mind is essentially shielded.
* InspectorJavert: Pharisee had a few traits of this during the mole hunt, especially when he was convinced that Silencia Venomosa was behind the murders.
* InstantAwesomeJustAddMecha: The ''Toys/{{BIONICLE}} [[JustForFun/XMeetsY Meets]] [[Toys/LEGOExoForce Exo-Force]] RPG'' incident was clearly a misguided attempt at adding "instant awesome" into the mecha-free RPG.
* InstantEmergencyResponse: Justified in most instances.
** J.D.'s murder received a quick response because it was ''inside'' the medical tent, right in front of at least three Doctors.
** The sudden death of Engineer arguably received similar, as did Medic.
** Exaggerated in a non-justified example that is probably considered non-canon is that Amanda's body was brought in by the medical department... ''before her body was even retrieved''. Atton Rand admitted to somehow missing that crucial fact.
* InstantWinCondition: The Einstein Device had (and used) the ability to wipe out practically the entire Mutant Dino army without turning LEGO City into a nuclear fallout zone. Because of this, [=PeabodySam=] went to great measures to make sure that preparing the Einstein Device required teamwork and cooperation from other players, and during the FinalBattle against [[FinalBoss Dr. Rex]], the Einstein Device could only be fired when Viper had a clear shot at Dr. Rex from aboard the ''Amanda''.
* IntellectualAnimal: Most dinosaurs have shown themselves to be rather intelligent, or at least more than what you would expect from feral prehistoric beasts.
* IntelligenceEqualsIsolation: Hertz was like this before he joined the Dino Attack Team, but he developed more social skills since working with them.
* IntendedAudienceReaction:
** Atton Rand feels repulsed by [=Andrewnuva199=]'s illustration of Pterisa, which was the exact impression that [=PeabodySam=] wanted [[TheGrotesque Pterisa's appearance]] to invoke.
** Brikman [=McStudz=]'s pity for [[TragicVillain Dr. Rex]], understanding that he is a [[spoiler:tragic pawn of the Maelstrom]], was the intended reaction [=PeabodySam=] was hoping for.
* IntentionalEngrish: A few [[ShoutOut Shout Outs]] in the comm chatter.
* InternalReveal:
** The first time Pterisa revealed herself, it was a surprise to readers, but only revealed to the founding members in-universe. Therefore, when her identity was revealed a second time in the Maelstrom Temple battle in front of a lot of Dino Attack agents, players already knew this, but it was still treated as a major reveal in-universe.
** PlayedWith in ''Pirates of the Tropical Sea''. Readers of ''Dino Attack: At War's End'' would already know that Greybeard isn't Mary Rose's actual grandfather, thereby playing this trope straight when this is revealed in-universe in ''Pirates of the Tropical Sea''. However, without that prior knowledge, anyone who only reads ''Pirates of the Tropical Sea'' will find the reveal to be a surprise since it is never explicitly stated until that point.
* InterspeciesFriendship: So much of this apparently exists between Minifigs and dinosaurs. There's also the partnerships of Andrew, Pterisa, and Laxus, Stromling Zach and Cranky, and Raptor and Valencia.
* InterspeciesRomance:
** [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] by Rex and Amanda. When they realized that they were not of the same species, they dropped their relationship. On the other hand, after a freak accident that permanently turned Rex into a Minifig, their relationship was free to continue.
** Played straight by Andrew and Pterisa, ultimately, although somewhat downplayed due to the fact that Pterisa is half-Minifig.
* InventionalWisdom: Neither the Brickspider Bot v1.0 nor Cyber-Bully were quite sure why Evil Ogel's underground compounds came with doorbells.
* IronicEcho: Don Bricassius introduces himself as a "business associate" of Amadeus Remous, though this was a lie. Years later, Roger Remous claims to be a "business associate" to Don Bricassius when interrogating his butler Frank, and then he lampshaded it by chuckling.
* IronicName: An unintentional example, but one of Trigger's old partners who was killed by Silencia Venomosa was named "Verbal". While it was never actually stated if this was his last name, a nickname, or just an alias, it's interestingly ironic on two fronts. First, the guy didn't talk much. Second, it's funny when you consider his name was meant as a shout-out to Verbal Kint, Creator/KevinSpacey's character in the 1995 film ''Film/TheUsualSuspects''. In that film, Verbal Kint was the only survivor of a job organized by a shady criminal mastermind, with most of the plot centered around him telling the story of how it all happened.
* IronicNickname: Soldier, who is a sergeant, and Shotgun, who is a sniper.
* ItCanThink: Jones, Wilkes, and Henderson had a debate regarding how sentient the Maelstrom could be, with Jones believing that ItCanThink. [[spoiler:Jones was right.]]
* ItHasBeenAnHonor:
** Dust wanted Rockford to know that it was an honor to have known him.
** Specs, Semick, and Rex have all invoked this trope when talking to their fellow Dino Attack agents towards the end of the FinalBattle.
* ItHasOnlyJustBegun: Reptile said this after the defeat of Dr. Rex. This was also the theme of the final ''Dino Attack RPG'' post, emphasizing that the end of ''Dino Attack RPG'' marks the beginning of a brand new chapter in everybody's lives.
* ItIsNotYourTime: Played with. The mysterious voice that Kotua, Databoard, Frozeen, Trigger, and Rex all heard upon death told them that it ''was'' their time. Kotua, Databoard, and Frozeen had to convince the voice otherwise in order to be revived, and by the time it was Frozeen's turn, the voice was less than willing to comply. Trigger did not even get a chance to convince the voice, and Rex is the only one who peacefully accepted the voice.
* ItRunsInTheFamily:
** Both Kate and Sarah Bishop are [[DoesNotLikeSpam disgusted by the taste of Brickolini's pizza]].
** The Alexander family has an aversion to aging, which is one of the few things that Dr. Rex and Katerina Schattenberg have in common.
* ItWillNeverCatchOn: After Zach gets a pink pony toy for Christmas from a game of Dirty Brickster, Laxus looks up the series its from and notes there's [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic a TV show based around it]] that's getting positive remarks. Andrew doesn't think much of it.
* ItsASmallWorldAfterAll:
** In less than a year, Rex has met some of the biggest names in the LEGO Universe.
** Somehow Barry Jackson keeps bumping into old army buddies by chance. On Adventurers' Island alone there was Wade, Garry, and Teri.
** In a flashback intended to develop the relationship between Trigger and Amanda Claw, many other major characters from the Dino Attack made appearances, including Gahiji Thutmose, Kate Bishop, Sarah Bishop, Minerva Fabello, and Walter Breen.
* ItsAWonderfulFailure: ''December 21, 2010'', a WhatIf story showing what happens if the Dino Attack Team fails their mission to Adventurers' Island. It ends with everybody dying and the survivors being caught in an EarthShatteringKaboom. Certainly served as extra motivation to not fail in the actual story arc.
* ItsGoingDown:
** Fort Legoredo during the Gold City campaign, with the Second Headquarters Squad deciding that the best way to wipe out the Hybrid occupation is to blow up the famous fort.
** [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] by Dino Attack Headquarters. After Firecracker filled the building with explosives and detonated it, it seemed likely that it would collapse, but it withstood the explosions. Then, Mutant Dinos attacked the building, creating huge structural damage and setting the upper floors on fire. Still, as a symbol of what the Dino Attack Team stood for, when the smoke cleared, Dino Attack Headquarters was still standing. However, it's notable that, [[WhatCouldHaveBeen/DinoAttackRPG in earlier drafts of the final battle, PeabodySam actually intended for this trope to be Played Straight.]]
* ItsPersonal:
** The motivations of Shadow, Blade, Jordan, and Talia Kaahs, who all have personal reasons for fighting against the Mutant Dinos.
** King Joseph Race, after Willa the Witch killed his old friend Sir Robert Batrick, declared their fight to be personal.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:J]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold:
** Clint Wayne may initially seem ruthless and amoral, but he is still responsible for saving a large group of agents from being executed by Rotor and he did promise Pierce that he would ensure Kate's safety while the two of them were alone in the jungle.
** Greybeard can be a real jerk at times, such as when he mutinied against Rex and nearly killed Sauro-Hunter because he disagreed with their morals, but he does have a very soft spot in his heart, especially seen when he cares for Mary Rose.
** While Trigger seems to be pretty cold, his relationship with Snake and Carrie Enderson does seem to suggest that he is in fact capable of making friends.
* JerkassHasAPoint:
** Dust was right oh so many times.
** Atton Rand ''tried'' to invoke this with Trigger a few times, notable examples being him pointing out why charging headlong into an army of Stromling ''in front of the Maelstrom temple'' was a bad idea and having very good reason to suspect Silencia Venemosa of being TheMole. In the case of the former, everybody hated Trigger so much that they seemed to deliberately ignore and contradict everything he said despite a perfectly legit explanation being given several times, while in the case of the latter it turned out that [[spoiler: Silencia Venemosa was just a really good RedHerringMole, who [=PeabodySam=] was deliberately using to throw people off the ''actual'' mole]].
* JesusTaboo: Due to Platform/BZPower's rules against religious discussion, any references to real-world religion are usually downplayed. This is most apparent with Noomi Shaw, a semi-religious doctor who uses faith as a form of comfort, but while she wears a cross on her necklace, she admits to not believing in Christianity specifically. Frank Einstein's Judaism and Dust's Islam are both {{informed|Judaism}} and don't factor into their characters at all. The only instance where the taboo is outright averted is with Pharisee, TheFundamentalist who quotes Bible verses as he punishes sinners.
* JudgeJuryAndExecutioner: This is why you should keep Rotor and French Fries out of the courtroom.
* JudgmentOfSolomon: After Rex attacks French Fries, Pharisee resolves to beat up French Fries himself so neither French Fries's supporters nor Rex's supporters would take offense, althought it would have made more sense to beat up Rex.
* JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope: Dr. Rex always was losing his mental stability, but at a very slow rate. Through [[spoiler:[[TheManBehindTheMan the Darkitect's]] manipulation]] and the Dino Attack, he's really lost it in the past few months.
* JungleJapes: The jungles of Adventurers' Island, Ogel's Island, Dinosaur Island, and Pirates Forbidden Island.
* JurisdictionFriction: There is a lot of friction between Alpha Team and the Agents Defense Organization, largely stemming from the Agents being founded with the intention of replacing the Alpha Team. Since Alpha Team had a major role in founding and supporting Dino Attack Team, that friction carries over, with Dino Attack and Agents being rivals until their relations were finally improved late in the war.
* JustAFleshWound: Played straight alot in the earlier RPG. Zenna once got her arm ''bitten by a Mutant T-Rex'' and recovered as though nothing happened. [[AvertedTrope Averted]] more recently, with both Rex and Zenna suffering permanent damage (the latter also very nearly ''bled to death'').
* JustAStupidAccent:
** Although [[HerrDoktor Medic and Zed Provhezor]] throw in some GratuitousGerman words every now and then, all they do is speak English with a very heavy accent; they are never seen speaking a full sentence in German.
** Similarly, Señor Palomar is described as having a faint Spanish accent in the prose ([[InformedAttribute but never actually reflected in his dialogue]]) and a few GratuitousSpanish words thrown in. [[WhatCouldHaveBeen/DinoAttackRPG However, PeabodySam originally intended to subvert this by having Señor Palomar and Greybeard chat entirely in Spanish at one point, though this scene was ultimately never written.]]
* JustBeforeTheEnd: The RPG is about a world being destroyed by mutant dinosaurs, with the entire LEGO Planet's population being confined to cramped facilities in Antarctica, which were badly damaged in several riots. Granted, there is hope that the actual invasion will be stopped, but restoring society is easier said than done.
* JustFriends:
** Minerva claimed that she and Zach were this. However, it was apparent before and after her statement that their feelings for each other was beyond being "just friends".
** Averted with Kat and Hotwire, who ''actually are'' just friends. Given their behavior, plus Howire's rant to Shiller and Wright about how the word "just" devalues friendship by implying it is somehow less than romantic love, perhaps this is actually more of a subversion.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:K]]
* KangarooCourt: Rotor's court-martial and French Fries's trial.
* KansasCityShuffle: The most obvious evidence towards Scout being TheMole, a [[TraitorShot shady phone call while he was alone]], was used by Ata [[spoiler:to distract Specs while he himself continued to operate as a mole right under Specs's nose]].
* KarmaHoudini: Rotor almost got punished for his court-martial, but got out due to things getting out of control. Otherwise he's also more or less gotten away scott-free with torturing a child while the Garry (who actually felt bad about it and tried to put a stop to it) ends up taking the blame.
* KatanasAreJustBetter: RuleOfCool is definitely at play here as well, given that real-life katanas -- while indeed incredibly sharp -- are not all that strong. Despite Nazareno's status as a sci-fi ninja-type guy, he primarily uses two golden katanas to fight everything from cutting down fortress guards to ''shattering ''the skull of a Mutant Raptor.
%%** Enforced by Solomon Koplowitz and Zelda Frodongan.
* KeepAway:
** Reptile, Coral, and other Dino Attack agents tossed around the Overloader during the LEGO Island Laboratory battle, in an effort to [[GoingToGiveItMoreEnergy overload the Brickspider Bot]] while keeping the device out of its hands. Unfortunately, the plan ultimately failed when the Brickspider Bot seized the Overloader, forcing Reptile to destroy it.
** Dino Attack Team tossed around the Maelstrom Crystal in the Maelstrom Temple to keep it away from the Stromlings.
* KeepingTheEnemyClose: Despite Sgt. Ronald E. Army being a BloodKnight who thinks he's a general, the LEGOLAND president allows Army to maintain his rank since it was safer to keep Army in the military and thus always monitor his actions than to discharge him and potentially let him become a loose cannon.
* KeystoneArmy: All Mutant Dinos have Maelstrom in their bodies. Imagination is Maelstrom's only known weakness. [[InstantWinCondition Meaning, if you have enough Imagination]]...
* KickTheDog: Rotor had a quite a few of these for a good guy. Among such moments are arresting an ''entire T-1 crew'' because the pilot disobeyed orders and then trying to have them all shot, ordering Kate (an innocent and inexperienced teenager) to enter a fortress filled with toxins on her own, and of course there is his habit of scaring his enemies by playing classical music.
* KillHimAlready: What Greybeard wanted to do after Dr. Rex's fall. If only Rex had listened to him instead of wanting to give Dr. Rex some CruelMercy...
* KillItWithFire: [[{{Pyromaniac}} Pyro]], Sarah Bishop, Andrea Jackson Orange, and Rex have used flamethrowers in battle.
* KillTally: Rev Raptor kept track of his Mutant Dino kills, believing that it would prove his worth and make him more likely for an elite promotion.
* KillTheOnesYouLove: Wade knew that J.D.'s gunshot wound was fatal, and Pierce's efforts were only delaying the inevitable, leading him to intentionally give him a morphine overdose to keep him from standing the pain.
* KilledMidSentence:
** [[spoiler:Walter Breen]] was shot and killed in the middle of a boast.
** The Infomaniac illusion Andrew saw in the Maelstrom Temple died in a similar fashion.
* KillingYourAlternateSelf:
** Kotua killed Anti-Kotua during their fight aboard the ''Anti-Voltage''.
** This trope serves as the premise of ''Antithesis''. Howard Simmons hired Silencia Venomosa to assassinate Anti-Howard Simmons. Venomosa was also hired to assassinate her own alternate self, Anti-Amanda Remous. [[spoiler:She could not go through with it, but Anti-Amanda died anyway when a SWAT officer mistook her for Venomosa.]]
** In ''Because Of You'', Talia Kaahs accidentally kills her Timeline 1958-B self while shooting Ronald Alexander. She then poses as her in the new timeline, but is eventually exposed as an "imposter" by her husband George Ogel, who saw the "real" Talia's body in the morgue.
* AKindOfOne: It's unclear whether the egg came before the chicken, but what is known is that the species names for the three unused Quasifigus species (''Quasifigus tyrannus'', ''Quasifigus velosis'', and ''Quasifigus pterisa'') also happen to be the names of the three specimens created by Wallace Bishop (Tyrannus, Velosis, and Pterisa, respectively).
* TheKirk: Greybeard, in comparison with the [[TheMcCoy more emotional]] Rex and the [[TheSpock more logical]] Frozeen. Of the three, he comes across as the most practical, able to balance his emotional drive and his experience-based logic, therefore knowing what he must do in any situation. He is much more down-to-earth than Rex, but is also able to emotionally relate to his companions much better than Frozeen can.
%%* KirkSummation: Clint Wayne's efforts to pursuade Rotor to end his court martial and release the captured agents.
* KissingTheGround: After riding the Trouble Sub back to mainland LEGOLAND, Sauro-Hunter repeatedly kisses the ground while promising to never go out to sea again.
* KnifeFight:
** Although not many knife fights have occurred, Dust fits the persona of a knife fighter rather well. Since a hero often gets a sword, the anti-hero is thematically forbidden to use such extravagant weapons. Hence, Dust preferred weapon is the knife. Dust actually does use a scimitar in the fight against the Stromling Crocodile.
** Sniper versus TheMole. Although Sniper's "knife" was a machete, the mole won.
%%* PsychoKnifeNut: Dust, Spy, Silencia Venomosa, Ata, and Oswald Fabello
%%* KnightInSourArmor: Solomon fits this trope perfectly.
* KnightTemplar: Pharisee. He answers to no authority except his own, believes in BlackAndWhiteMorality [[BlackAndWhiteInsanity even in the face of demonstrable evidence to the contrary]], and is willing to murder anyone whom he sees as anything short of saintly.
* TheKnightsWhoSaySquee: Bart Helmutson was ''very'' happy to meet Junkbot in Antarctica.
* KnockingTheKnockoff: Snake repeatedly beating up Plastic Serpent was intended by Atton Rand as representing [[Film/EscapeFromNewYork Snake Plissken]] beating up [[VideoGame/MetalGear Solid Snake]] for supposedly being a shameless ripoff. Then, in a non-canon scene written just for laughs, both Snake and Plastic Serpent get beaten up by the ''real'' Snake Plissken and Solid Snake... but Atton Rand still couldn't resist ending the scene with Snake Plissken beating up Solid Snake.

* LaResistance: ''Pirates of the Tropical Sea'' reveals that [[Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG Future Frozeen]] wasn't the only one still fighting against Ogel in Timeline 2004-A. Scattered ragtag groups of survivors have banded together to form the Resistance to fight against the Evil OGEL Empire. It's very much a hopeless fight against insurmountable odds, but they believe that as long as at least one rebel lives free and continues to oppose the empire, the Resistance cannot die.
* LackOfEmpathy:
** Pharisee's opinion is somewhat hypocritical, he feels no empathy toward the people he kills but on the other hand he uses their humanity to acknowledge the moral ambiguity of his actions. Well he understands that feeling empathy toward his targets is liability, he also knows he should accept it so he can punish himself for sins he commits. He feels empathy toward the victims but rarely those who he sees as unrighteous.
** Trigger seemed to not care about the man he killed [[spoiler:[[DeathEqualsEmotion until he died]]]].
** Dust seemed not to show empathy toward the people he killed and conned until the end when he had a HeelRealization.
* LadyOfBlackMagic: Carolyne Provencal.
* LadykillerInLove: Spy, the typical Film/JamesBond-esque spy, genuinely fell in love with Helen Rutherford.
* LampshadeHanging: Prone to happen in [=PeabodySam=], [=Andrewnuva199=], and Brikman [=McStudz=]'s writing, especially whenever a DeadpanSnarker opens his/her mouth.
* LampshadedTheObscureReference: After Rockford grumbled about Dino Attack Team's code being blatant ''Franchise/StarWars'' references, Mur just remarked that he was glad it wasn't a much more obscure ''Series/{{Firefly}}'' reference instead.
* LandDownUnder: Hunter 2000, Sniper, Crock, and Adventure all hail from Australia and are portrayed as rather archetypal Australian hunters.
* LargeAndInCharge: Pharisee is the 6'9", over 200 lbs badass head of Internal Affairs.
%%* LargeHam: [[EvilIsHammy Evil Ogel, Stromling!Zach]], and Adventure, to name only a few examples.
* LaserBlade: The Space Knights' laser saber is a sword with a laser for a blade. In other words, it's basically a lightsaber.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia:
** Rex and Phantom both suffered from this, inflicted upon then by XERRD experiments and General Evil, respectively. While Rex eventually recovered most of his memories, Phantom's current state is unknown, although Word Of God states that Phantom's amnesia was intended to be only temporary.
** Dr. Cyborg suffered from LaserGuidedAmnesia, too, after XERRD betrayed him and left him to die. He eventually recovered all of his memories during the Adventurers' Island mission.
* LastKiss: The kiss between Nazareno and Zelda [[spoiler:as Nazareno was dying]]. Doubled as a FirstKiss.
* LastMinuteHookup:
** Frozeen finally admits his feelings for Shannon at the end of it all, and the ending implies that they'll become a couple. However, this is averted in the Director's Cut, which makes it clear that Frozeen and Shannon remain JustFriends.
** Bluetooth admits his feelings for Vinyaya during the final battle, and they become a couple afterward.
** Magma and Covert were not hooked up until literally the very last minute, in [=TakunuvaC01=]'s final IC post.
* LastNameBasis:
** Most of the medics as well as the majority of XERRD's scientists are referred to by their surnames.
** Also applies to Dino Attack agents Remous, Wright, and Shiller.
* LastMinuteReprieve: George was saved just as Rotor was organizing the firing squad.
* LastRequest:
** J.D.'s final request was that Minerva used his prototype Maelstrom cure to save Zach.
** [[spoiler:Wallace Bishop]]'s Last Request was that [[spoiler:Frank Einstein]] [[TakeCareOfTheKids take care of his family]].
** [[spoiler:Amanda Claw]]'s Last Request was that Rex find a way to defeat Dr. Rex, since that would bring an end to the Dino Attack and all the death - including [[spoiler:her]] own - that it brought about.
* LastSecondWordSwap: Henderon's OhCrap moment in the Maelstrom Temple.
* LateArrivalSpoiler: If you've never played ''VideoGame/LEGOUniverse'', then ''Dino Attack RPG'' spoils the plot twist that [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus is the Darkitect.]]
* LatexSpaceSuit: Holly Vinyaya's zero suit underneath her Space Police armor.
%%* LaughingMad: [[InsaneEqualsViolent Pyro]] and [[MadScientist Dr. Insano]].
* [[invoked]]LauncherOfAThousandShips: Holly Vinyaya, according to Zachary Virchaus, is the subject of many in-universe ships.
* TheLawOfConservationOfDetail:
** How many people payed attention to the throwaway line that revealed that Pterisa's chess piece was a knight, while all the other chess pieces sent by Dino Attack Team's [[TheMole mole]] were ''bishops''?
** The ramblings of the Wallace Bishop in Antarctica revealed that he was once the lab partner of Einstein. Bartholomew Enderson thought that he was talking about UsefulNotes/AlbertEinstein, but from what we later learned from [[spoiler:Frank Einstein]] in the Maelstrom Temple... Other things said by Wallace Bishop foreshadowed the big reveal.
** One can easily deduce Ben Gunn's true identity simply by paying attention to the things that he kept in his cave.
** Rex was having some heart problems throughout ''At War's End''. [[YourDaysAreNumbered Guess that meant something important...]]
** Minor details about [[spoiler:Ata's]] whereabouts and actions hinted that this character was acting [[TheMole a little suspicious]]...
** Greybeard was right; there ''was'' a very specific reason why, in his flashback/dream sequence, Grisbarba was replaced by Rex and Beatrice was replaced by Amanda. A detail like that cannot possibly be unimportant!
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall:
** When talking about Stromlings, Trigger told his companions to "forget everything you've seen in [[PlayByPostGames text-based RPGs]]" and proceeded to explain how a person who was a Stromling is practically dead, and love doesn't work. It's ironic when one considers that he ''is'' in a text-based RPG and [[DramaticIrony there actually was a character who overcame his Stromling infection through the power of love]]. Of course to be fair it might be that the latter was just a once-in-a-lifetime case that only occurs with true, genuine love, and that such a thing does not happen very often, in which case his statement still makes sense.
** For reasons he cannot explain, Zachary Virchaus cannot bring himself to say the word "idiot", [[Platform/BZPower censoring the word with the phrase "cool dude".]]
** In a conversation played both for laughs and drama, Shaw, talking about her faith, mentioned "[=PeabodySam=]" as a possible deity.
** A couple examples in ''Dear Sister'':
*** When asked about his beliefs in fate and destiny, Roger says that he hopes that they aren't just the playthings of greater powers waiting to kill them off once they've outlived their purpose, and he declares that those who leave lasting impressions will have stories told about them long after they are dead. Both of these touch upon the fact that Roger Remous was a SacrificialLamb in ''Dino Attack RPG'' who received a much greater role posthumously.
*** After writing a letter commissioning his own assassination, Roger says, "Oh, Sam. One of these days, you'll be the death of me." In-universe, he's talking about Sam Sinister... but out of context, it can be seen as him talking directly to [=PeabodySam=], who did kill him off in the RPG.
* LeftForDead:
** Rex and the Brickspider Bot both left Ben Gunn for dead in the [[UndergroundLevel Goo Caverns]]. However, the Brickspider Bot almost averted this (it was about to make sure Ben Gunn was dead when suddenly the Big Darn Heroes arrived), and in Rex's case, he didn't have time to go digging through rubble to find Ben Gunn still alive.
** Although he was aware that Dr. Rex was still alive, Rex made a big mistake when he [[CruelMercy left Dr. Rex for dead]] during the FinalBattle.
** Had Michelle Glados just made sure that [[spoiler:Trouble]] was dead when she tried to kill Rex, she might have actually succeeded.
* LegacyCharacter:
** King Jayko VIII is the descendant of [[Toys/KnightsKingdom2 King Jayko I]].
** Kate Bishop is implied to be the granddaughter of Johnny Thunder RPG's Roy Bishop; by extension, that makes Wallace and Sarah Bishop children of Roy Bishop.
** Peter "Frozeen" Abody was retconned to be a LegacyCharacter of [[DisappearedDad Zachary "Frozeen" Abody]].
** Shannon "Gromtin" Grimton is the daughter of [[RedShirt Gromit "Gromtin" Grimton]] from ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG''.
* LegoGenetics: LEGO jokes aside, Mutant Dino genetics is not depicted as a hard science at all. With means such as Mutant Dino Serum or the Shadows' DNA machine, Mutant Dino DNA can actually override minifig DNA and quickly [[{{Animorphism}} transform minifigs into Mutant Dinos]], and the transformation can be just as easily reversed. If the Shadows' mutations were only partially inflicted or cured, the result would be a HalfHumanHybrid. There are other MixAndMatchCritters created by XERRD, including the [[HalfHumanHybrid Quasifigus]], the Octosaur, and numerous hybrids of Mutant Dinos and mythical Vikings Monsters.
* LetXBeTheUnknown: Agent X's codename is fitting for someone so mysterious.
* LetsDance: Said by Glide to Kotua as they engaged one another in battle.
* LetsSplitUpGang: Played with. Garry was initially reluctant to do this in the Maelstrom temple. He relented when it was down to him and Palmer.
* LieToTheBeholder: Temple Stromlings have this ability, [[FaceYourFears appearing as their beholder's worst fears]].
* LifeOrLimbDecision: When Hotwire's leg became infected by Maelstrom, he chose the "life" option.
* LikeASonToMe:
** Seeing as he was a barren man, Wallace Bishop viewed his lab assistant as his daughter.
** Although they are not biologically related, Greybeard sees Mary Rose as if she really were his granddaughter.
* LineageComesFromTheFather: Frozeen and Gromtin both inherited their fathers' Alpha Team codenames.
* LivingDinosaurs: The dinosaurs of Adventurers' Island, Adventurers Dino Island, and Dinosaur Island escaped the extinction event 65 million years ago and are still thriving today. The Mutant Dinos also count, since they originated from these islands before being captured and mutated by XERRD.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: A central theme of ''Love and War''. Roger was one to Amanda, and Rex takes it upon himself to become Amanda's new crutch after Roger is captured (and later killed) by Finister, since he doesn't want her to end up like Kotua or Phantom. She ultimately becomes his crutch too, [[spoiler:which has devastating effects when she dies during the final battle]].
* LizardFolk: Quasifigus Hybrids, especially Minifig/Mutant Lizard Hybrids, are essentially humanoid reptilians, and they even stand in for the {{Standard Fantasy Race|s}} during the mission to Mount Bricklake. They're [[AlwaysChaoticEvil almost always evil]] (especially after Order 66), although the rejected prototypes and Eno Saurian are rare heroic examples.
* ALizardNamedLiz: Tamed Mutant Dinos are often named this way, such as Maw the T-Rex, Fang the Raptor, and Screech the Pterosaur.
* LockedIntoStrangeness: A consistent after-effect of close encounters with the Maelstrom, as evidenced with Zelda's black and red hair becoming black and purple and Zach gaining a purple stripe in his red hair. Minerva also gained several white streaks in her hair after nearly being suffocated by the Maelstrom. Blaire Darkling's blonde hair turned white after an accident during the corruption of the Temple of Creation into a Maelstrom Temple.
* LodgedBladeRemoval: In ''Love and War'', Amanda stabs Phantom in the knee with her combat knife. He pulls the knife out moments later.
* LongLastLook: In ''Love and War'', Amanda and Roger Remous share a long look at one another before Roger leaves in pursuit of Finister. It turns out to be the last time they would ever see each other.
* LongLostRelative: Katerina Schattenberg turned out to be Ronald Alexander's sister.
* LongRunners: With a run of nearly seven and a half years, ''Dino Attack RPG'' has outlasted every Franchise/{{LEGO}} [[PlayByPostGames TBRPG]] on Platform/{{BZPower}}.
* LoveConfession:
** Trigger confessed his love for Carrie Enderson... just before pretending to hold her hostage.
** Frozeen finally confessed his love for Shannon Grimton during the later stages of the FinalBattle.
* LoveHurts: The worst emotional pains that characters such as Rex, Fullmetal, and Hertz go through are the result of loving someone.
* LoveMakesYouDumb: Hertz proposed to Naomi after only starting a relationship with her three days prior. Neither really knows enough about the other for that level of commitment.
* LoveRedeems: Among a variety of other factors, Zach's love for Minerva prevented him from standing by and watching Ahua kill her and Andrew.
* LovecraftLite: For all its Lovecraftian traits, the Maelstrom was ultimately defeated by the power of [[spoiler:just two Creative Sparks]]. There have also been no confirmed cases of insanity (at least not directly caused by the Maelstrom), though at least two people (Kate and Samuel Race) are left traumatized by it. However, he Maelstrom wasn't rendered "dead" by any means of the imagination, and this is understood in-universe. Its presence on the LEGO Planet, anchored by the Maelstrom temple and the infection in Mutant Dinos, was a weak but threatening connection to its primary location at the remains of Crux Prime, and said presence was eradicated by the Imagination from the Orb and Einstein Device, respectively. It is still a threat to the LEGO Universe, but that is a battle meant to be finished through of ''VideoGame/LEGOUniverse'' (which unfortunately, due to [[CutShort the game's cancelation]], means [[NoEnding we never get to see it]]).
* LovedOnesMontage: Rex thought about all his friends and loved ones in what was essentially a montage, in order to break free of [[spoiler:the Darkitect's illusions]].
* LowCultureHighTech: The Dino Aliens are invaders and conquerors who view the LEGO Planet as primitive and Minifigs as a lesser race.
* LowerDeckEpisode: [=Andrewnuva199's=] original intention was that his posts, and Andrew's role by extension, would show the Dino Attack from this perspective. This was no longer the case as Andrew found himself pulled more and more into the RPG's main plot, but [=Andrewnuva199=] still tried to give focus to the "lower deck" through means such as the comm chatter.
* LoweredRecruitingStandards: The Dino Attack Team has so many crazy people. Some RPG players, such as [=Andrewnuva199=] and that guy from that show, offered commentary on this in regards to Duke and Kuru.
* LukeIAmYourFather:
** Happened twice with Kate Bishop, with the reveal that Wallace Bishop is her uncle, and the reveal that Pierce is actually her biological father.
** Scout finds out that Spy is his father when the latter reveals a wedding photo.
* LukeYouAreMyFather: Rev Raptor learned that Landro, a [[HalfHumanHybrid mutated]] and maddened XERRD scientist, was actually his father, Jecht Raptor. In the Director's Cut, it seems that Landro himself had forgotten this until Rev reminded him.
* LyingHeroesHonestVillains: While Rex and Specs lied to Amanda about Remous's whereabouts, the Brickspider Bot told her the truth.
