!!!''Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG'' provides examples of:

[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder:A]]
* AbandonedHospital: Mercy Hospital, a ShoutOut to the hospital of the same name from ''VideoGame/Left4Dead'', is abandoned during the Dino Attack. In ''Rex's Awakening'', all Rex and Frank Einstein find inside the building are Mutant Lizards and Raptors, and there are no living doctors, nurses, or patients to be seen.
* AbandonedWarehouse:
** In ''Antithesis'', Lens Pioneers has a laboratory in the primary universe. The corresponding location in the Antiverse is an empty warehouse, with the stark contrast between the two locations allowing Silencia Venomosa to truly feel the impact of going to a different universe.
** In ''Dear Sister'', Roger Remous meets with Keyser Soze, Mr. Puffin, and Snake in an abandoned warehouse. It's the perfect meeting place for a bunch of crooks to avoid drawing attention from the police.
* AbdicateTheThrone: Despite being next in line as alpha of the Adventurers' Island T-Rex pack, Rex knew that this would conflict with his duties to Dino Attack Team, and so Abdicated the Throne in favor of letting Chompy, his oldest sibling, rule in his stead.
* AbortedArc:
** The fate of any character's story when their player leaves ''Dino Attack RPG''. Probably the most infamous example would be Databoard's quest to rescue Stealth, which was left unresolved after Chronicler of Ko-Koro left ''Dino Attack RPG''.
** Players do not even need to leave ''Dino Attack RPG'' for their story arcs to be aborted. For example, [=TakunuvaC01=] had some plans for the Dino Aliens that were ultimately aborted with the introduction of ''Dino Attack RPG'''s story arc formula.
** The [[WhatIf alternate ending]] ''L.E.G.O.'' never continued past its first two chapters.
* AbsurdlySpaciousSewer: The sewage tunnel that leads to Dinosaur Island is large enough for a tank to drive through.
* AccidentalMisnaming:
** Semick once referred to Sam Throramebi as "Thornabi". In fact, Sam's bitterness about this suggests that people often mispronounce his last name.
** Donnie couldn't remember Dietrich Luzwheit's name. When he tried to tell Walter about it, he ended up saying "Ludwig" (a fairly common German first name, made famous by Ludwig Van Beethoven), "Luftwaffe" (the name given to the German air force during World War II) and "Luxan" (an alien species from the TV show ''Series/{{Farscape}}'').
** Greybeard mispronounced Anubis's name as "Arubis", subtly referencing a typo that [=PeabodySam=] made when first introducing the character.
** Sam Sinister could not remember Paulie Gonepus's given name and instead called him various made-up names such as "Penta", "Hexa", and "Octo".
* AccordionToMostSailors: In the "[[WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue Fifteeniversary]]" story ''Pirates of the Tropical Sea'', Mary Rose listens to a trio of pirates playing a jolly sailor's jig aboard the ''Beatrice'', with one of them playing the accordion.
* AcePilot: Zenna, Prince Samuel Race, Mac, Cabin, Rotor, and Kara.
* AchievementsInIgnorance: In an effort to get rid of Enter and Return, David gave them some money to go about getting their desired items. Enter and Return somehow managed to go to a store, buy a fishing pole, go the harbor, catch a shark, and then return to the hospital in about 30 seconds.
* ActionGirl: Amanda Claw, Dromus, Aravis, Minerva Fabello, Vinyaya, Cabin, Kat, Maria, Andrea Jackson Orange, Zelda, Zealot, and Kara Wise are all highly-capable Dino Attack agents who happen to be female.
* ActionMom: Sarah Bishop may be in her mid-forties and have a daughter, but she's a member of Third Headquarters Squad who doesn't hesitate to jump into battle against Inferno henchmen.
* ActionSurvivor: Many Dino Attack agents were former civilians suddenly thrust into the action.
* ActorIsTheTitleCharacter: The poster for the [[FilmWithinAFilm in-universe film]] ''Silent But Deadly'' says "Sharon Shoehorn is Silencia Venomosa".
* ActuallyADoombot: Wondering why Ogel was killed [[RuleOfThree three times]] during the final battle and yet ''still'' managed to survive? Maybe you should read the March-April 2001 issue of LEGO Mania.
* AdaptationalContextChange: The Director's Cut retains certain lines of dialogue while changing the context around them.
** One example of this is Glide saying "Boo." In the original RPG, he says it to spook Databoard and Turahk-Kal. In the Director's Cut, he says it while expressing his disappointment. It's the same word with two totally different meanings.
** This is also the case with the integration of the "unattributed quotes" from the downloadable archive, since these quotes have been inserted into scenes that they might not necessarily have originally come from. In one case, a quote from Reptile about robotic Mutant Dinos is instead given to a different character, Fireball, since [=PeabodySam=] could not find an easy way to naturally integrate the quote into Reptile's story.
* AdaptationalDiversity:
** ''Toys/LEGODinoAttack'' only has a single female character, Dr. Nicole Soscia, whose only "appearance" is a bit of dialogue in one of the online stories; otherwise, [[ChromosomeCasting the toyline itself consists entirely of male characters]]. In contrast, ''Dino Attack RPG'' has a significantly larger number of female characters. There are also a number of characters in the RPG who are explicitly minorities in race, religion, sexuality, or gender identity, none of which are touched upon in the toyline.
** The original release of ''Dino Attack: Legacy'' had only a single female character, Dr. Michelle Glados, who appears briefly in the background of one scene; Tex also makes a cameo on a movie poster but otherwise does not appear in-person... err, in-dinosaur. The remastered version addresses this by adding Zenna, Amanda Claw, Elizabeth Winsor, Tex (now given a full appearance), the alpha female T-Rex, Kat, Minerva Fabello, Shock, Aravis, and Pterisa, giving significantly more female representation.
* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance:
** Several characters appear earlier in the Director's Cut than in the original RPG, including:
*** Because several Expanded Universe stories are now directly incorporated into the story, any characters included before their RPG debut now make earlier appearances. This includes Frank Einstein (''Rex's Awakening''), Walker, Adventure, Trouble (''First Assignment''), Roger Remous, Amanda Claw (''Dear Sister''), Ata, Semick, Bluetooth, Scout, Pharisee (''The Madness of Agent Zero''), Fate, and Colonel (''Time and Place'').
*** Engineer appears during the Kotua crisis (filling in the role originally played by Banchito), predating his debut during the LEGO Island story arc.
*** A group of nondescript XERRD scientists, seen early in the Kotua crisis, are replaced with early cameos by Dr. Strangebrick, Carolyne Provencal, and Dr. Rex. Although revealed to be the case via retcons, another generic XERRD scientist during the Dino Island Laboratory story arc is now outright confirmed to be Matthew Cyrista, appearing long before his proper debut as Dr. Cyber in the Adventurers' Island story arc. Michelle Glados also makes an appearance during the Dino Island story arc.
*** Rex's tamed Mutant T-Rex, Maw, originally did not appear until after the Kotua crisis ended. He is now identified as one of the T-Rex hatchlings that Rex captures at the very beginning of the RPG.
*** The mutant dragon that Rev and Sereve tried to capture is now a Maelstrom Dragon. Similarly, the mutant spider that attacked Nick Lightning is now a Dark Spiderling. Both of these give early appearances to Stromlings.
*** Hacker briefly appears much earlier than his debut in the Adventurers' Island story arc, making a cameo as one of the agents working under Magma's command.
** In the original RPG, Semick was not introduced until the LEGO Island story arc, and Zachary Virchaus was not introduced until the Adventurers' Island story arc. In ''Dino Attack: Legacy'', Semick appears in the Goo Caverns and Zachary Virchaus appears on LEGO Island.
** In the original version of ''Dino Attack: Legacy'', Dr. Cyborg did not appear until the Maelstrom Temple scene. He appears earlier in the remastered version, which adds an earlier scene of Dr. Cyborg sending Cyrista's Bane to fight Dr. Inferno.
* AdaptationalExplanation:
** While the source of the Dino Attack is never officially explained in the original toyline (outside of Mark Stafford's comments on Reddit), ''Dino Attack RPG'' reveals the answer: they were created by XERRD using the Maelstrom.
** In the original RPG, it's a PlotHole why characters like PBB do not recognize "The Phantom" and "Maw" to be Frozeen and Rex based on their voices. The Director's Cut provides an explanation: Frozeen speaks in a low, husky voice to hide his identity as The Phantom, while Rex's voice sounds different as a Mutant T-Rex.
** ''Time and Place'' does not explain the purpose of Anubis's mission to Enchanted Island. The Director's Cut explains that his squad went to the island to defeat Atukam.
** The Director's Cut addresses several {{Plot Hole}}s in the reveal of Silencia Venomosa's identity. In the original RPG, it is unexplained why no XERRD scientists recognized Rex in his PaperThinDisguise (given that they should certainly be familiar with Dr. Rex's face and voice), or why Amanda would willingly out herself as Venomosa in front of Reptile and other Dino Attack agents. In the Director's Cut, Rex is [[ClarkKenting wearing lab goggles and a surgical mask to hide his face]] (and even then, it's not a perfect disguise and Dr. Gladys sees right through it), and Amanda was counting on Reptile and the other agents believing that she was simply lying about being Venomosa to intimidate Dr. Gladys.
* AdaptationalMundanity: The more fantastic non-canonical elements of the original RPG (particularly the ''Toys/{{BIONICLE}}'' content) are considerably toned down in the Director's Cut.
* AdaptationalVillainy: The Director's Cut changes General Jim from a mere GeneralRipper to a planted [=ShadowTech=] agent.
* AdaptationDistillation: Since ''Dino Attack: Legacy'' condenses a lengthy RPG into a 3-4 minute animation, several scenes were combined:
** In the original RPG, Villains Headquarters rescues Rex from Chaos, and Anti-Kotua later defeats Alpha Chaos by freezing it with the ''Anti-Voltage''[='=]s freezer beam. In ''Legacy'', Villains Headquarters defeats Perfect Chaos (unintentionally saving Rex in the process) by freezing it with an Ice Orb.
** The ''Legacy'' scene in the XERRD Laboratory is meant to be a combination of the LEGO Island XERRD Laboratory and the Adventurers' Island XERRD Fortress from the original RPG. The Teleport Pad and (in the remastered version) Ata are from LEGO Island, while Wallace Bishop, Michelle Glados, Walter Breen, and the Hybrid are from Adventurers' Island.
** In the original RPG, Fullmetal/Tex and Dr. Cyborg/Cyrista's Bane never share a scene together, but both were involved in separate battles against Dr. Inferno. Therefore, in the remastered version of ''Legacy'', Fullmetal and Dr. Cyborg team up to send Tex and Cyrista's Bane into battle against Dr. Inferno's robot mech.
** In the original RPG, Rotor goes with Rex to the Temple of Creation while Dust leads Dr. Cyborg and Katerina Schattenberg to the Temple of Hotep III. In ''Legacy'', the two temples are combined into a single depiction of a Maelstrom Temple, and therefore Rotor is leading Dust, Dr. Cyborg, and (in the remastered verison) Kat in battling Stromling Explorers and Stromling Islanders.
* AdaptationExpansion: [[Toys/LEGODinoAttack The original LEGO theme]] had a [[ExcusePlot very simple plot]]: mutant dinosaurs are attacking the city, and four guys are trying to stop them. However, the ''Dino Attack RPG'' revealed that this has happened all over the world, bringing in other LEGO-themed locations and showing the impact that these events have had on them. The Dino Attack Team of the original theme consisted of four men, but the RPG has shown that it is actually much larger and there are women helping out. It's also explained what happened to the citizens of the various places that have been invaded (an issue completely ignored in the original line), and there is even some background as to why the heck all this is happening in the first place.
* AdaptationExplanationExtrication: In the original RPG, it's explained that the villains escaped their prison cells in the Dino Island Laboratory by using Sam Sinister's hook to pick the lock. Since the Director's Cut makes this impossible (the cells now use energy force fields instead of conventional locks), no explanation is provided for how the villains escape, with Brickster simply [[HandWave hand-waving]] it by pointing out that it wasn't his first prison break.
* AdaptationNameChange: The Director's Cut enforces the OneSteveLimit by changing the names of characters. Examples include the first Maw (Sharptooth), the first Snake (Snake of Spades), the first Andrew (Andrew Yellowstone), the second Vex (Vax), the first Wing (Wingman), the first Tom (Tomson), and the third Phantom (R-Phantom). It also changes the names of the Second Headquarters Squad (except for Medic) and Michelle Glados in order to distance them from their [[VideoGame/TeamFortress2 respective]] [[VideoGame/{{Portal}} inspiration]].
* AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul: The relationship of Frozeen and Shannon Grimton was significantly reworked in the Director's Cut due to [=PeabodySam=]'s criticisms of how it was written in the original RPG. Most notably, while the original RPG heavily implied that they would see a RelationshipUpgrade after the war and become an OfficialCouple, the Director's Cut makes it explicitly clear that Frozeen DidNotGetTheGirl and they remain JustFriends.
* AdaptedOut: Because Jax only appears in one incomplete sentence of the downloadable archive, his archived appearance is not included in the Director's Cut.
* AffirmativeActionGirl:
** Kate Bishop was introduced solely because Atton Rand noticed that all of his characters, sans Zenna and Elizabeth, were male.
** Kat was introduced because, at the time, the only other female character ''in the entire RPG'' was Amanda, who had been turned into a mutant T-Rex.
** Anju and Connors were added to the first chapter of the Director's Cut after it was pointed out that all Dino Attack agents at the start of the RPG were male.
** Zenna, Amanda Claw, Elizabeth Winsor, Tex (who originally just had TheCameo), the alpha female T-Rex, Kat, Minerva Fabello, Shock, Aravis, and Pterisa were added to the remastered version of ''Dino Attack: Legacy'' to give greater female representation, considering that the original version only had Dr. Michelle Glados.
* AfterActionPatchup: Hertz gets one at the end of both the battle for the Temple of Hotep III and the battle of the Temple of Creation.
* AfterTheEnd: ''[[WhatIf December 21, 2010]]'' takes place in horrible post-apocalyptic world that makes ''Literature/TheRoad'' look romanticized. All life on the planet has been reduced to six people and a dinosaur, who are all crammed into one temple. The Maelstrom is destroying the entire planet, and cannot be stopped. There are explicit references to the deaths of major characters, and finally concluding with the entire planet being blown up and an explicit statement that "[[EverybodyDiesEnding there were no survivors]]".
* AfterlifeWelcome: When [[spoiler:Amanda Claw]] was dying, she saw her deceased family and friends.
* TheAgeless: Dr. Rex cannot age physically, so long as he is injecting himself with Jugend Serum.
%%* AggressiveNegotiations: Silencia Venomosa seems to love these.
* AgonyBeam: Carolyne Provencal's staff causes a great deal of Maelstrom-influenced excruciating pain before killing the victim.
* AirVentPassageway:
** The XERRD Fortress is full of these... then again, since these are the same air vents that blow out neurotoxins and other poisonous gases, it might not be such a bright idea to crawl through them.
** Due to being a child, Mary Rose was able to hide in the air vents when Mutant Dinos attacked Dino Attack Headquarters. In Timeline 2004-A, a sixteen-year-old Mary Rose is the only Resistance fighter who is small enough to use the air vents to escape an apartment, although she finds it considerably more difficult than her six-year-old self.
* AirborneMook: Mutant Pterosaurs are the only "naturally" flying members of the Mutant Dino forces. The ''Quasifigus pterisa'' was originally intended by XERRD to be developed into flying mooks.
* AlasPoorVillain:
** [[spoiler:Dust's death]], even if he wasn't exactly a villain, elicited a ton of sympathy from his companions who were ready to abandon him moments earlier.
** It's not hard to feel a small shred of sympathy for [[TragicVillain Dr. Rex]], especially after learning that he is the way he is because the Maelstrom poisoned his mind.
** Loop might have been a complete monster in life... but dang, his last words were a tear jerker.
* AlcoholicParent:
** David Johnson Glados and Mr. Thutmose were both drunk and abusive to their respective children.
** Athena Fabello was this at one point before losing her mind.
** ''Scars'' reveals that Mr. Kaahs was "angry and drunk" all the time, and he only became even more "angry and drunk" after Talia mysteriously disappeared.
* AlienInvasion:
** A recon group of Dino Aliens was scouting the LEGO Planet in preparation for the full invasion.
** The alien invaders from ''Toys/LEGOAlienConquest'' are frequently mentioned in the post-Dino Attack storyline as the next big threat to hit the LEGO Planet.
* AllAbusersAreMale: Downplayed. While there have been abusive women (such as Athena Fabello after she became an AlcoholicParent), the majority of abusive people in destructive relationships have been male, such as Greybeard, David Johnson Glados, Mr. Thutmose, and Mr. Kaahs.
* TheAllConcealingI: ''Rex's Awakening'' is one of the few Expanded Universe stories written in first-person. This serves a number of purposes, most significantly the fact that Rex has no memory, no identity, and [[NeverGivenAName not even a name]].
* AllCrimesAreEqual: Rotor tried to have a whole T-1 Typhoon crew shot because the pilot had disobeyed orders, among them were James [=McGregor=] (pretty much the one person besides Pierce that Kate got along with).
* AllGermansAreNazis:
** It is worth noting that, out of four figures from the FictionalCountry of Barron (which is essentially a representation of stereotypical Germany), three are villains and one is a MadDoctor. Additionally, Kuru met a German scientist working for XERRD.
** There's Dunkelheit, who was actually a Stromling Agent, and Schattenberg, the founding family of [=ShadowTech=], whose Germanic names were chosen since [[NamesToRunAwayFrom/ForeignLanguageNames they sound more villainous]].
** [[SubvertedTrope Ironically]], one of the few characters who is revealed to actually be German and not Barron, Frank Einstein, is a complete [[AvertedTrope aversion]] of this trope. For another German character, Dr. Cyborg, this trope is a BerserkButton.
* AllThereInTheManual: The Dino Attack RPG Wiki contains a boatload more information on various characters and events, ranging from Offical LEGO Canon some readers might not be aware of, to backstory of secondary characters like Laxus and Semick that are not fully explored in the RPG proper. There are even some characters, such as Cyber-Bully and Bacon, whose names were never mentioned in ''Dino Attack RPG'' and can only be found by looking on the wiki.
* AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs:
** Cam O'Cozy's efforts to turn the team against itself resulted in a Civil War ''inside'' the Dino Attack Headquarters that got so chaotic it made the average ''VideoGame/TeamFortress2'' map look peaceful.
** There was also the mutant dinos' invasion of the camp on Adventurers' Island.
** Dino Attack Headquarters became infested with Mutant Dinos in the later stages of the final battle.
* AlmostDeadGuy: Sir Robert Batrick, held prisoner by Willa the Witch in the Hybrids' captured Dino Attack Outpost, lived just long enough to see King Joseph Race and Lord Vladek enter the outpost. He started to tell them what happened, and then was immediately killed by Willa.
%%* AlmostKiss: Rotor and Cabin.
* AloneWithThePsycho:
** Dust and Lutsky in the confinement tent. Which one is the psycho is up for debate.
** Whose idea was it to leave a HeroicBSOD Rex alone in a T-1 Typhoon cabin with the {{pyromaniac}} Andrew Jackson?
* AlphabeticalThemeNaming: All of Enter Fishstick's characters (Zyra, Zorikk, and Zzerz) have names that begin with the letter Z.
* AlternatePersonalityPunishment: The premise of ''Because Of You'' is about [[spoiler:Talia Kaahs]] going back in time to assassinate Dr. Rex in multiple {{Alternate Timeline}}s, punishing him for his crimes in the primary timeline. An extreme version of this is discussed in the third chapter, when the time traveler threatens to kill every version of Dr. Rex in every reality if his Timeline 1958-D AlternateSelf commits the same crimes.
* AlternateSelf: Most inhabitants of the Antiverse are very similar to their primary universe counterparts, even if they do live different lives. [[MirrorSelf Exceptions]] include Anti-Amanda Remous and Anti-Kotua, and even then they prove to be similar: Anti-Amanda [[NotSoDifferentRemark points out how much she shares with Silencia Venomosa]], and Kotua acknowledges that Anti-Kotua basically acts the same way he did when he was evil.
* AlternateTimeline:
** FUTURE created an alternate timeline by going back in time and changing the past, with the point of divergence being the early Dino Attack when they joined forces with their past selves. This is officially designated as Timeline 2010-A on the wiki.
** ''Pirates of the Tropical Sea'' also reintroduces Timeline 2004-A, which is the timeline from which Future Frozeen originated in ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG''. Previously, it has been occasionally referenced by Frozeen and Shadow, who are among the few characters aware of Future Frozeen's highly-classified mission to change the past and stop Ogel from successfully taking over the world.
** ''Because Of You'' introduces three new alternate timelines, created by Talia "Shock" Kaahs's time traveling:
*** In Timeline 1958-B, Ronald Alexander and Talia Kaahs are both killed by Shock, who becomes HappilyMarried to George Ogel until he deduces that she's an "imposter".
*** In Timeline 1958-C, Ronald Alexander is killed by Shock, but this results in George and Talia Ogel both joining the Evil OGEL Empire when it's founded. As General Evil and Lady Evil, they help keep the OGEL Empire in power into the [=2020s=], and try to use Shock's time travel to their advantage. Also, General Evil isn't a {{cyborg}} in this timeline, since Dr. Rex never critically injured him.
*** In Timeline 1958-D, Shock gives Talia Kaahs a ride home and warns Ronald Alexander about his future. This averts the Dino Attack and stops George Ogel from becoming General Evil; instead, George and Talia [[MeaningfulRename adopt the latter's maiden name Kaahs]] after the Evil OGEL Empire rises to power, and they had a daughter named Sydney who currently lives on a ranch in New Zealand.
* AlternateUniverse:
** The Antiverse, officially designated Dimension 8231. This was one of the alternate universes that Wallace Bishop was trying to access. To list a few notable differences:
*** The climate is significantly different. There are a lot more storms and hurricanes in the Antiverse. Troy [=DeWitt=] believes that this was an unintended consequence of Wallace Bishop's lab accident.
*** Although the Antiverse is five years behind the primary universe, its technology is superior to what the primary universe had at that time.
*** Anti-Wallace Bishop and Anti-Astrid Dunham were killed when their laboratory exploded in 1992. The timeline suggests that there may likely be a connection between this event and the lab accident that took place in the primary universe in 1997.
*** Anti-Don Bricassius never murdered Anti-Amadeus and Anti-Rosaria Remous, so Anti-Amanda Remous never became Silencia Venomosa. However, Anti-Roger Remous was killed by Don Bricassius instead, and Anti-Amanda Remous was [[FriendOrFoe accidentally killed in SWAT crossfire]] in 2003.
*** Anti-Andrew Yellowstone commands SWAT forces in the field, rather than doing government deskwork.
** Canonically, the [[WhatIf alternate endings]] ''L.E.G.O.'' and ''December 21, 2010'' exist in alternate universes.
** The entire ''Dino Attack RPG'' universe itself is considered an alternate universe, designated Dimension 525, in the Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Cinematic Universe. In ''Rift'', the latter universe's Wallace Bishop briefly crosses over into this universe.
* AlwaysABiggerFish: The triceratops stampede during the battle of the Aztec Village.
* AlwaysChaoticEvil: Although for the most part this trope has been averted thanks to exceptions to every "evil" race, Stromlings are always evil, cunning, ruthless, and [[CardCarryingVillain proud to be so]], without exception.
* AmbiguousGender: In a reference to [[VideoGame/TeamFortress2 his inspiration]], some characters argued about Pyro's gender. Officially, Pyro was said by [=PeabodySam=] to be a man... until the suit was removed by Atton Rand and [[SamusIsAGirl Pyro was revealed to be a woman]]. And then, because Pyro was NotAsYouKnowThem, this was {{Retcon}}ned so that Pyro was male all along and the female Pyro was actually an imposter.
* AmbiguousSituation: The entire scene [[spoiler:in the hotel]] with Trigger is up to interpretation. Is it real, or just a hallucination? Is it even ''[[CanonDiscontinuity canon]]''? No further details can be offered on the subject, as [=PeabodySam=] is understandably reluctant [[spoiler:to explore themes of afterlife]] in ''Dino Attack RPG''.
* AmbitionIsEvil:
** A character analysis of Dr. Rex revealed that ambition is one of his tragic flaws. Every evil act he has committed, from kidnapping Talia Kaahs to starting the Dino Attack, was due to ambition - he wanted something greater than that which he already had.
** Many other XERRD scientists, most notably Michelle Glados and Walter Breen, also became evil due to their ambition.
* AmericaSavesTheDay: After a heated debate on what to do with Rotor after his court-martial, Tesh Carrey wins by calling the American Air Force to pick him up. However it is ultimately [[SubvertedTrope subverted]], as the man who arrives is Canadian.
* AMFMCharacterization: In ''Because Of You'', Talia Kaahs loves Music/TheBeatles and can't wait to hear how their music will evolve, while George Ogel can't get into rock & roll and still considers jazz to be the finest form of modern music. This disconnect hints at the fact that [[spoiler:Timeline 1958-B's George Ogel is from the past while Talia Kaahs is from the present day]].
* AmplifiedAnimalAptitude: It seems that all animals are just as intelligent as, if not more than, Minifigs. It becomes integral to the story as this intelligence is what inspires Rex and other Dino Attack agents to become idealists, finding that they cannot bring harm to other intelligent beings.
* AmusingAlien: Laxus, being a Deadpan Snarker, has several pretty amusing lines.
* AnachronicOrder: Some posts will take place just before the one prior.
** To provide a straightforward example, the flashback alternates between the perspectives of Schiess and Silencia. [=PeabodySam's=] descriptions of her murder of Orange and Scorsese as well as Uærlig Sindstorme were all written after Atton Rand had already described Schiess's reactions to them.
** This could be used to explain why the Adventurers' Island arc in ''At War's End'' took place over the course of a day while the Gold City arc took place over two.
** Everything written after the final battle makes heavy use of AnachronicOrder. The Director's Cut rearranges most of it to be in rough chronological order, although the finale on Adventurers' Island takes place before the previous chapter.
* AnachronismStew: As a result of MedievalStasis and SchizoTech, the LEGO Planet and Dino Attack Team is a NinjaPirateZombieRobot AnachronismStew.
* AndIMustScream:
** Katerina Schattenberg when she was essentially being [[MindRape Mind Raped]] by Lupus Schattenberg.
** [[spoiler:After Baron Typhonus's DivineIntervention, Dr. Rex was still fully conscious, but suffering a FateWorseThanDeath as he was forced to keep living and keep fighting while suffering terrible pain and agony due to the Darkitect's possession.]] While he ''could'' and ''did'' scream, that one scream could not possibly account for every passing second of AndIMustScream suffered by [[spoiler:Dr. Rex]].
* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: Players are given the opportunity to change their primary character. If their current primary character is an elite agent, players have the choice whether to avert this trope (their new character is also an elite agent) or play it straight (their new character is a standard agent). To date, only Atton Rand has played this trope straight, with standard agent Trigger replacing elite agent Zenna.
* AndThatLittleGirlWasMe: How PBB introduced himself to Rex. When Rex freaked out at the sight of a Brickster-Bot, PBB began to tell an anecdote about a Brickster-Bot who was built by an Alpha Team agent and helped to battle Evil Ogel... and then revealed that he himself was that Brickster-Bot.
* AndTheAdventureContinues: Jackson Lake's story ends with David O'Neal, Lucy Wright, and Ben Shiller starting a cross-country car trip.
* AndThenJohnWasAZombie:
** And then Axel, Snake, Amanda Claw, and Zorikk were Mutant Dinos.
** And then Zachary Virchaus was a Stromling.
** And then [[spoiler:Swerve]] was an Ogel Drone.
* AndThisIsFor:
** Near the end of the final battle, the comm chatter calls out a bunch of things that this is for, including (but not limited to) fallen friends, a year of misery, the whole world, everything, [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and a ruined family reunion]].
** In the Director's Cut, just before defeating Finister, Rex says, "This... is for Maw!"
* AndroclesLion: Rex tamed Trouble and, as a result, freed Trouble from the slavery of Dr. Rex [[spoiler:and the Darkitect]]. In gratitude, Trouble was willing to die to save Rex's life.
* AnimalTalk: All dinosaurs speak the same language. And all Mutant Dinosaurs speak the same language.
* AnimalThemeNaming: Most Dino Attack agents have dinosaur (or, at least, reptile)-based nicknames.
* AnimateDead: Skeleton Mummies have the ability to instantly animate the corpses of people they kill, turning them into [[EverythingsDeaderWithZombies zombie minions]].
* {{Animorphism}}: The effect of Mutant Dino serum is transforming minifigs into Mutant Dinos, usually against their will.
* AnotherDimension: The Torn World, the setting of the LEGO Island story arc's climax, is located in a bizarre pocket dimension.
* AntiHero: Dust and Trigger, both of whom have very little concern for the team. Dust just wanted to find a temple, and Trigger openly admitted that he's only in it for the money.
* AntiVillain: Evil Ogel, Sam Sinister, the Brickster, and Vladek while working with the Dino Attack Team. Also, Katerina Schattenberg and Oswald Fabello.
** SlidingScaleOfAntiVillains: The four Anti-Villains listed above are best described as Type I while working with Dino Attack Team. Additionally, General Evil was a Type II example who eventually became a true villain before performing a Heel Face Turn. Oswald Fabello is a Type II.
* AnyoneCanDie:
** While most deaths are [=NPCs=], several important [=NPCs=] such as PBB and Aravis have been killed off. Primary character deaths are very rare, but Rev Raptor and Sereve both died in the battle against Landro while Louis "Dryptosaurus" was killed by a Mutant T-Rex, both rather early in the RPG. [[spoiler:Dust]] did end up being killed in the Temple of Hotep III. If it were not for that guy from that show unintentionally confirming her survival, Atton Rand's primary character Zenna might have been unexpectedly killed off. And then, [[spoiler:[[YourDaysAreNumbered Rex's Days Are Numbered]].]]
** Horrifically exemplified by the FinalBattle. The final battle has taken the lives of [[spoiler:long-runners such as Rex, Amanda Claw, and Trouble, as well as fan-favorites Adventure, Semick, Septimus/Swerve, and Kareem Nazareno. Other notable casualties of the final battle include King Joseph Race, Trigger, Athena Fabello, Contest, Coral, Anubis, and General]].
* ApocalypseAnarchy: The anger and confusion resulting from news that the Mutant Dinos were in Antarctica (meaning one of the few safe havens in the apocalypse was no longer safe) led to chaos and riots in the refugee facilities.
* ApocalypseHow:
** Class 3a, considering that the entire Dino Attack was engineered by a group of [[MadScientist mad scientists]].
** Class X, in ''[[WhatIf December 21, 2010]]''.
* ApocalypseWow: ''[[WhatIf December 21, 2010]]'', full stop.
* ApocalypticLog: Medic had a tape recorder he was presumably using to record the results of his autopsy on Engineer. Instead, it recorded the last few minutes of his life and the immediate aftermath of his murder.
* AppropriatedAppellation:
** The "zeen" in "Frozeen" came from a kindergarten teacher's botched attempt at reading Zachary Abody's handwriting.
** The origin of Amanda's nickname "Amanda Claw" was the result of Roger Remous flubbing the act of introducing her to Rex. She thought it was amusing and decided to keep the nickname.
** The name "Fogel" was originally coined as an insult, but Fogel decided to bear it with pride.
* AprilFoolsDay: ''Dino Attack RPG'' has observed multiple April Fools' Days, starting in 2010.
** In 2010, [[HostileShowTakeover Dr. Rex hacked the Dino Attack RPG Wiki and changed into a XERRD propaganda website]].
** In 2011, playing off players' expectations of Dr. Rex returning to the wiki, [=PeabodySam=]'s IC post contained a [[EasterEgg hidden message]] from Dr. Rex himself. The hidden message simply informed readers that there was no hidden message.
** In 2012, [=PeabodySam=] released a list of spoilers that [[RunningGag most frequently]] involved [[OverlyLongGag characters slipping on a banana peel and having a heart attack while sipping a cup of tea]].
** In 2015, Mustache Maniacs Film Co. [[http://mustachemaniacpressroom.blogspot.com/2015/04/an-epic-new-film-arrives-as-another-is.html announced]] a movie adaptation of ''Dino Attack RPG''.
** In 2016, the Dino Attack OST mix "The End of All Things" was [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJ-Fp04bWF4 reuploaded]] with most of the music tracks (regardless of mood or context) replaced with [[VideoGame/StreetFighterII "Guile's Theme"]], because [[Memes/StreetFighter "Guile's Theme" goes with everything]].
** In 2017, ''Dino Attack: Legacy'' was [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycBnDlr8lXM reuploaded]] with nearly all minifig characters replaced with Kevin "Knuckles" Kabrinsky. This reupload was titled ''Dino Attack: Legacy [[VideoGame/Sonic3AndKnuckles and Knuckles]]''. ''Dino Attack RPG'' was also featured in [[http://mustachemaniacpressroom.blogspot.com/2017/04/mustache-maniacs-film-cos-movies-are.html Mustache Maniacs Film Co.'s own April Fools' Day joke]], which advertised a ''VideoGame/LEGODimensions'' fun pack starring Zachary Virchaus.
** In 2022, [=PeabodySam=] uploaded an announcement from Dr. Rex that turned out to be a parody of WebVideo/RealTimeFandub's ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure2'' Eggman announcement. This was followed later in the day with a supposed email from The LEGO Group issuing a cease and desist in response to Dr. Rex's video, leading to the announcement of ''Dino Attack RPG: [[WritingAroundTrademarks De-LEGOized Edition]]''.
* AreTheseWiresImportant: Little Bot managed to cut the ''Voltage'''s power by cutting a few wires.
* AreYouSureYouWantToDoThat: While playing ''Disasters & Dinosaurs'', Nate tries to have his character Snake sneak up on Chaos and backstab it. Vinnie reiterates that Snake is about to backstab a giant BlobMonster, giving Nate the opportunity to reconsider his plan before putting it into action.
* AnArmAndALeg: Dramatic limb loss has happened frequently throughout the ''Dino Attack RPG'', with victims including Zachary and Fullmetal.
* ArchnemesisDad: Rev Raptor's greatest foe was his father, Jecht "Landro" Raptor.
* ArmCannon: Dr. Cyborg has one in his alt-mode, and Sam Throramebi's prosthetic mechanical arm has a retractable hand that doubles as a plasma cannon.
* ArmorPiercingAttack: Since silge, like all other metals, is a high conductor of electricity, ShockAndAwe is the only attack that could penetrate Dr. Rex's silge armor.
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking:
** This trope is quoted nearly word-for-word by the Brickster when talking about the crimes that he isn't interested in.
** Hertz compares acting without a plan to suicide, a kamikaze attack, and marching "into a ''Franchise/StarWars'' convention with the intent of [[TakeThat declaring midichlorians as the best thing the prequels ever gave us]]".
** Snake is guilty of "bank robbery, murder, arson, carjacking, mugging, multiple accounts of physical assault including several on officers of the law, smuggling, and selling pirated [=DVDs=]."
** Matthew Vherestorm/Blaire Darkling is described as having little problem with murder, arson, violence, destruction, chaos, and punting kittens out of airlocks. That last bit apparently really upset humane societies.
* ArtEvolution: Compared to the original ''Dino Attack: Legacy'', the AprilFoolsDay update ''Dino Attack: Legacy and Knuckles'' removes Dr. Rex's stubble and scar; gives Trouble scars on his snout and tail; and makes the FUTURE villains look older. The Director's Cut trailer goes a step further by finally giving Mutant Lizards (including Trouble) their colored spots and fixing Databoard's original OffModel appearance.
* ArtStyleDissonance: Despite how dark and grim the RPG gets, it is almost always represented in the cutesy LEGO artstyle.
* TheArtifact:
** Various elements of the early RPG, including but not limited to Rex's true identity and Frozeen's G.E. Body, stick out like a sore thumb in later canon (hence why the Dino Island Lab story arc nullified both of those aforementioned examples) but were so integral to the story that they couldn't simply be declared non-canon like a lot of other EarlyInstallmentWeirdness.
** The term "agent", used in reference to Dino Attack soldiers. This is an Artifact of early fan speculation on Toys/LEGODinoAttack being a continuation of Toys/LEGOAlphaTeam (not helped by the fact that Mission Deep Freeze minifig faces were used as substitutes for Specs, Digger, Shadow, and Viper when the sets were revealed at Toy Fair 2005). Once official story details were published through LEGO's website and magazine, it would become clearer that Dino Attack and Alpha Team were unrelated, and it simply no longer made sense that the militaristic Dino Attack Team would refer to its members with the same designation as the Alpha Team secret intelligence agency. However, by this point, the term "Dino Attack agent" had become so well-used and familiar to RPG players that nobody bothered to stop using it, so it stuck around even though it didn't make sense.
* ArtifactTitle: ''Love and War'' is a rewrite of the scene where Rex and Amanda first met and fell in love with one another. However, ''Love and War'' itself does not feature any love between Rex and Amanda; in this version, the seeds for a future romantic relationship are planted, but at this time it is only a platonic friendship.
* ArtificialHuman: Kat and Cameron O'Cozy.
* ArtificialLimbs:
** The Frickster, Zachary, Fullmetal, Zed Provhezor, and Paulie Gonepus.
** While he does not have any confirmed artificial limbs, Kareem Nazareno specializes in creating these.
** Dr. Cyborg not only has artificial limbs, he also has an artificial trunk and artificial half-face!
* ArtisticLicenseHistory: In ''Pirates of the Tropical Sea'', the Hourglass of Atlantis is an anachronism. In real life, the myth of Atlantis was first written by Plato in 360 BC, while the first documented hourglass is from the 8th century AD. One-Eyed Pete even discusses this fact when trying to explain to Greybeard that the Hourglass of Atlantis might not actually exist. [=PeabodySam=] had realized this anachronism while writing the story, but decided that the Hourglass of Altantis's time-based powers could exempt it from any historical inaccuracies.
* AsLongAsItSoundsForeign: A character with a FunetikAksent is implied to have come from a foreign country.
* AsTheGoodBookSays:
** Pharisee ([[invoked]][[BeamMeUpScotty mis]])quotes Ezekiel 25:17 and later quotes the beginning of Psalm 94 (MSG) in his non-canon confrontation with Trigger.
** One comment over the comm chatter was a quote from the Bible, Psalm 23:4.
* AscendToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: Greybeard mentions this trope when he suggests that, by sacrificing his Creative Spark to save the world, [[spoiler:Rex]] lives on in everyone.
* AscendedExtra:
** Trouble, Kat, Ata, Helmie, Hertz, Frank Einstein, and Zelda Frodongan all began as minor unimportant characters who, after being brought for a second appearance, became members of the main cast.
** In the case of Rex and the alpha female T-Rex, they were unnamed extras in ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG'' who were brought back as major characters in this RPG, with Rex becoming [=PeabodySam=]'s primary character and the alpha female T-Rex becoming central to the Adventurers' Island story arc.
** Anubis was a minor RedShirt who accidentally survived being killed. He received ADayInTheLimelight in ''Time and Place'', which provided some much-needed characterization.
** ''First Assignment'', ''The Madness of Agent Zero'', and ''Time and Place'' fleshed out several unimportant extras, such as Walker, Lisa, Redshirt, Fate, and Belle, giving them much more screentime than they had in the original RPG.
* AnAssKickingChristmas: The FinalBattle took place only a few days before Christmas. This was acknowledged by several Dino Attack agents who, fearing they might not survive the battle, decided to celebrate Christmas during the battle.
* AssholeVictim: When Trigger died, he was rather unpopular in the RPG.
* TheAssimilator: The Maelstrom. While [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus himself seems more concerned with destruction,]] Stromlings will often infiltrate the team by assimilating unsuspecting agents, generally quiet characters who will be less likely to be noticed, as was seen with Zelda, Norris, and Palmer.
* TheAtoner:
** Amanda, General, George Brown, Solomon Koplowitz, and Blaire Darkling.
** Heck, if you want to start bringing in real-life examples, Atton Rand could qualify. He spend much of the Adventurers' Island arc deliberately introducing good realists such as Rotor, Clint Wayne, Cabin, and Garry, in an effort to undo the realist image he had unwittingly created in the LEGO Island arc. Also in order to make up for the damage he unwittingly caused he specifically brought back French Fries so that everyone could get back at him for the trouble he put them through (although admittedly [[GoneHorriblyRight the results were a lot more brutal than anticipated]]- Atton had expected him to get insulted and maybe eventually arrested... he didn't quite count on Rex's [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown beatdown]], which did leave him somewhat shocked).
* AudienceSurrogate:
** Kate Bishop more or less acts like anyone who had been sent on their first mission to a tropical island inhabited by mutant dinos probably would.
** Pierce could also be considered an example, as his perspective on the issues at hand often reflects that of the players.
** In ''Merciful Escape'', Rex serves as the AudienceSurrogate as readers see the Dino Attack from the perspective of someone who just woke up in a collapsed building while suffering from LaserGuidedAmnesia.
* AudienceWhatAudience:
** Stealth is very confused by Slash's MediumAwareness. Databoard advises her to just go along with it.
** PlayedForDrama in ''The Madness of Agent Zero''. [[spoiler:One of the reasons why Zero was discharged from the team is because everyone thinks he's crazy for believing the world is a work of fiction.]]
* AuthorAvatar: Players often (but not always) model their primary characters after themselves.
** A classic example would be the characters Canama and Cookieo, who were clearly avatars of their respective players, even sharing their [=BZPower=] usernames.
** avmatoran has explicitly stated that he based Dr. Cyborg on himself.
** Zachary and Andrew share the names of their creators, so this trope may also be present there.
** Of all of [=PeabodySam's=] characters, Frozeen comes the closest to an AuthorAvatar; [=PeabodySam=] is aware of this and even diagnosed Frozeen as having Asperger's syndrome to make him even more similar. However, nearly all of [=PeabodySam's=] characters carry some of his different personality traits, making them all avatars to a degree... the only notable exception being Grease, who was specifically modeled as the exact type of person [=PeabodySam=] hates the most.
* AuthorFilibuster: Although exaggerated either for storytelling or for humorous purposes, many of the things that in-universe characters complain about, such as the Toys/LEGOPowerMiners color scheme or the quality of modern music, is just an excuse for their writers to complain about something they don't like.
%%* AxCrazy:
%%** Most of the Second Headquarters Squad.
%%** [[MadBomber Firecracker]] with anything that goes boom!
%%** [[{{Pyromaniac}} Andrew Jackson]]. [[TheMentallyDisturbed Just...]] [[InsaneEqualsViolent Andrew Jackson]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:B]]
* BackForTheDead:
** Although Sir Robert Batrick never appeared in any RPG or story before, since this is the first time [=PeabodySam=] used the character since ''VideoGame/LEGORacers'', he considers Batrick's [[TheCameo cameo appearance]] a case of BackForTheDead.
** Mur lasted only a handful of posts in ''At War's End'' before his death.
** [[ChekhovMIA After being M.I.A. for six years, seven months, and seven days (real-time)]], [[spoiler:Trouble]] finally made his long-anticipated return... and got killed by Michelle Glados.
* BackForTheFinale: After completely vanishing following the death of the original ''Pirates RPG'', and not being given so much as a mention in the ''Dino Attack RPG'' or even the short-lived remake, Elizabeth's old friend Lt. Robert Maynard was finally brought back in the final story arc, not that anyone really wondered what happened to him.
* BackFromTheDead: After dying, Frozeen met a mysterious voice which tells deceased Minifigs "It is time" but will revive them if convinced that said Minifigs' friends are in danger. Of course, Frozeen successfully convinces the voice, but finds it harder than either Databoard or Kotua.
* BackStab:
** Spy specializes in these, [[ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything though he was never actually seen to do one on-screen]].
** Silencia Venomosa was revealed to have done this to Deniro and Keaton, two of Trigger's old partners.
* BadBoss:
** Dr. Rex, especially just before the final battle, was well-acknowledged as mad by his fellow XERRD scientists, but ruled over them through fear. He showed little regard for their safety and saw their suggestions of surrendering as treason. He refused to acknowledge [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus's involvement in the Dino Attack]], forcing his fellow scientists to continue their work.
** [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus]], who cares very little for his minions and has no second thoughts about killing them if they fail him or if he has no use for them any longer.
* BadGuysDoTheDirtyWork: Three of the four villains working with Dino Attack Team participated in the black ops Antarctica mission because Specs knew that they would have no problem killing the cold-adapted Mutant Dinos and destroying their nests.
* BadVibrations: Sereve noticed ripples in his glass of water, caused by the footsteps of thousands of approaching Mutant T-Rexes. He even notes that it's just like [[Film/JurassicPark a movie he used to watch]].
* BadassFingerSnap: In ''Because Of You'', Talia Kaahs summons a squad of Skeleton Drones by snapping her fingers, putting Tony Twister in his place after [[YouAndWhatArmy he thought she was alone and vulnerable]]. Her Timeline 1958-C counterpart, Lady Evil, also does a finger snap to signal the Guard Drones to restrain Talia.
* BagOfHolding:
** Spy sometimes carries around a briefcase containing the clothes of various Dino Attack agents and allies so that he can disguise himself. Imagine having to pack that thing.
** In one of Kat's earliest appearances, she pulled a bag of styrofoam packing peanuts seemingly out of nowhere while making an improvised firebomb.
* TheBait:
** Lutsky's plan to use Kate as a means to catch Dr. Wallace Bishop, although it didn't exactly go well with the other agents and it certainly didn't help that he first proposed the idea right in front of her when she was already under extreme stress.
** In the final battle, Rex attempted to lure Dr. Rex into a trap by using his [[TankGoodness Iron Predator]] as TheBait. Almost worked, but Dr. Rex realized that it was a trap too soon. The trap only worked when Evil Ogel was used as TheBait.
* BaitAndSwitch: XERRD succeeded in pulling off a BaitAndSwitch against Dino Attack Team ''[[RuleOfThree thrice]]''.
** First, Dr. Rex lured the Dino Attack Team into Quadrant 14 of the Goo Caverns with the promise of looking for a powerful weapon, where they were instead ambushed by a Mutant Dino army.
** Second, Paulie Gonepus led the Dino Attack Team to the Temple of Hotep III, tricking them into thinking that it was the Maelstrom Temple, only for them to eventually discover that it was merely a RedHerring.
** Third, a random Mutant T-Rex in silver armor was at the front lines of XERRD's Mutant Dino army, and everyone naturally assumed that it was Dr. Rex, while the real Dr. Rex was leading some Mutant Dinos through the subway system and sneaking past Dino Attack Team's front lines.
* BaitAndSwitchGunshot:
** Type A example: Breen is pointing a gun at Kate. The ensuing gunshot was not Breen firing at Kate, but [[spoiler:Wallace Bishop]] shooting Breen.
** Type A example: [[spoiler:Dust]] is killed by Lutsky when he pointed his gun at the Dino Attack members. This is a variation on the trope in which the gunman is killed by a bad guy and the person [[spoiler:Dust]] was pointing the gun at was not the hero in question.
** Type B example: Glados is arguing with Rex, then she raises her weapon and fires. While the following paragraph is written to trick the reader into thinking that she shot Rex... she didn't. Instead, as revealed by the very next paragraph, Glados actually [[spoiler:shot Amanda instead]].
%%* BandOfBrothers: Dino Attack Team... most of the time.
%%** There is a lot of this. Zenna, Andrew, Zach, David, and Hotwire are just a few among one such group.
%%** Just about all the medics stationed on Adventurers' Island, namely Pierce, Wade, Crusher, and Carver.
* BarBrawl:
** A lengthy fight scene between Snake and Plastic Serpent in Outpost 4's cafeteria, in the process knocking over a lot of dishes and chairs.
** This is essentially how Shiller and Wright met each other.
* TheBartender: Bart and Carrie Enderson are both bartenders, along with the [[EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep unnamed]] deceased pirate bartender from Greybeard's flashback.
%%* BashBrothers: Heavy and Medic.
* BatmanGambit:
** [[ManipulativeBastard Dust's]] plans and manipulations of Dino Attack agents to get to the Temple of Hotep III.
** Captain Click manipulated the Dino Attack Team into bringing him the Constructopedia.
** Dr. Rex and TheMole collaborated on a BatmanGambit to leak information on a secret Antarctica mission through their android, Cam O'Cozy, to stir distrust and animosity between realists and idealists.
** Sam Sinister actually engineered a minor BatmanGambit, counting on the personalities of those involved, to ensure that he [[spoiler:saved the alpha female T-Rex from Paulie Gonepus]] by sending Mr. Cunningham to hunt her.
* BatmanGrabsAGun: Rex, the extreme idealist who swore to never kill Mutant Dinos, went into HeroicSafeMode, grabbed a metal pipe, and beat a Mutant Lizard to death with it. Followed by a moment of MyGodWhatHaveIDone
* BattleAmongstTheFlames: The final battle against Dr. Rex took place on the roof of a burning Dino Attack Headquarters.
* BattleCouple: Several Dino Attack agents are dating one another while fighting in the war, leading to lovers joining each other on the battlefield. Examples include:
** Rex and Amanda Claw.
** Zachary Virchaus and Minerva Fabello.
** Barry Jackson and Teri Dactyl were intended to be such. It did not work quite as originally planned due to their love story being rushed.
** Rotor and Cabin definitely come close to qualifying.
** Maria and Andrea Jackson Orange are a lesbian battle couple.
* BattleInTheRain: The FinalBattle takes place during a thunderstorm.
* BeautyIsNeverTarnished: {{Subverted|Trope}} in the cases of Talia Kaahs and Holly Vinyaya, both of whom received some nasty scars across their faces.
* BecomingTheMask:
** General has implied that this was what made him become General Evil.
** Rex was supposed to be aware that he was a Mutant T-Rex disguised as a Minifig pretending to help the Dino Attack Team. [[GoneHorriblyRight Instead, he ended up believing that he was actually a Minifig and actually supposed to help the Dino Attack Team.]]
** Katerina Schattenberg closed off most of her mind and memories in order to keep Cane from realizing she had survived as Kat. And then this turned into a slight [[SubvertedTrope subversion]] when it was revealed that the "mask that she became" had actually become a separate entity.
* BeepingComputers: [[Film/MontyPythonsTheMeaningOfLife The machine that goes "BING!"]]
* BelievingTheirOwnLies: It is implied that this was the case with Dr. Rex, who, despite mounting evidence that [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus was [[TheManBehindTheMan behind this]] (including Dr. Rex actually hearing Typhonus's voice in his head), refused to believe that the Darkitect was anything more than a myth and]] asserted that XERRD's purpose was to repopulate the world with dinosaurs, not to [[spoiler:destroy LEGO Planet]].
* BedlamHouse: There are hints that the Napoleon XIV Mental Institution doesn't provide the best care for its patients.
%%* BeneathTheEarth: The Goo Caverns.
* BenevolentBoss: Despite seeming cold and harsh, Specs genuinely cares about the welfare of his team.
* BerserkButton:
** Never mention "Dr. Rex" to Ben Gunn.
** Whatever you do, do not talk dismissively of [[DisappearedDad Zachary Abody]] in front of Frozeen.
** Somehow, [[{{Troll}} Grease]] knows how to push ''everybody's'' {{Berserk Button}}s.
** Pierce may normally be a calm and decent man, but if you lay a hand on Kate or put her in a risky situation of any kind, [[BewareTheNiceOnes he'll be all over you]].
** Rotor has managed to push the {{Berserk Button}}s of most of the main characters, ranging from facing an angry Pierce after sending Kate alone into an enemy fortress filled with neurotoxins (something he still hasn't forgiven him for) to facing prosecution from every elite agent on Adventurers' Island after attempting to have a group of agents executed.
** After Kotua's [[FaceHeelTurn betrayal]], Rex has developed a BerserkButton towards Dino Attack agents who are traitors or try to hurt other agents without reason. Even worse, if you dare to try hurting one of his friends, you're just asking for a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown.
** Semick and Bluetooth don't respond well to complete idiocy (the former to someone [[InsaneTrollLogic actually thinking LEGO Island's disappearance was faked]], the latter to French Fries's final folly).
** Because of his manipulative skills, [[ManipulativeBastard Dust]] knows how to find anyone's BerserkButton and can successfully use it to accomplish his goals, as he did with Carl Lutsky.
** Señor Palomar takes pride in his Spanish Honor. Insulting it will push his BerserkButton, ironically, to the point where he will break his own code of honor out of anger.
** Taken to the extreme with Walter, whose berserk button can literally be triggered by ''anything'', including some guy ''putting a single toe'' over the line in a bowling alley.
** If you want to call Sergeant Ronald E. Army "[[EmbarrassingNickname Soldier]]", never do so while he is in earshot.
** Ordinarily, Sarah Bishop is a polite, kind and caring woman... just so long as you stay away from her daughter.
** Blaire Darkling has only lost his composure when being accused that he still operates as Matthew Vherestorm.
** And Nazareno doesn't appreciate it when he is unmasked unwillingly.
** Word of God says Dr. Cyborg does ''not ''like it when people make references to [[ThoseWackyNazis certain dictorial groups]] or [[AllGermansAreNazis anything else related to that]] to him. So don't do it.
* BerserkerTears: Rex was still noticeably crying over the deaths of [[spoiler:Amanda and Trouble]] while he mercilessly slaughtered Mutant Lizards and a Mutant Raptor with a [[NoKillLikeOverkill Sonic Screamer, flamethrower, Cosmotronic Ray, and shotgun]].
* BetaCouple: General and Talia Kaahs, to Rex and Amanda's Alpha Couple.
* BewareOfHitchhikingGhosts: A variation with Kotua's cameo appearance during the final battle. Kotua [[ChekhovMIA mysteriously shows up after being M.I.A. for a long time]] (and assumed by some to be dead), then [[StealthHiBye mysteriously disappears]] after Sherlock looks away. An interesting twist is that it's Kotua who offers Sherlock a ride, not the other way around. Note that while Kotua is actually neither dead nor a ghost, this scene has all the proper elements of this trope and was intended to [[InvokedTrope invoke]] this trope.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Rotor's decision to send Kate alone into the XERRD Fortress didn't exactly go over well with Pierce and Wade.
* BewareTheQuietOnes:
** Amanda Claw, full stop.
** At first glance, A.J. Orange just seems shy and insecure. That's until you give her a flamethrower and a few enemies.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: [[CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass Ben Gunn]] in the [[UndergroundLevel Goo Caverns]].
* {{BFS}}: Lt. Winston "Epic Winston" Grendelwulf's five-foot broadsword.
* BigBad: Dr. Rex... [[spoiler:until it was [[HijackedByGanon Hijacked by Typhonus]].]]
* BigBadDuumvirate: The final battle pits Dino Attack Team against [[BigBad Dr. Rex]], [[spoiler:[[VideoGame/LEGOUniverse Baron Typhonus]]]], [[Toys/LEGOAgents Dr. Inferno]], and [[Toys/LEGOCastle Willa the Witch]].
* BigBrotherInstinct: Ultimately why Oswald Fabello chose to care for Minerva after their brother's death and mother's institutionalization.
** Even with his mental instability, he still wished to save his sister from the apocalypse.
** Even after 76 years of separation, Dr. Rex still felt Big Brother Instinct towards Katerina Schattenberg. [[spoiler:However, this BigBrotherInstinct was absolutely obliterated during the final battle thanks to Katerina renouncing him as her brother and the Darkitect goading him on.]]
* BigDamnHeroes: Most of the team has become this at some point. Even Kate had one or two moments.
** The founding members' T-1 Typhoon during the battle for the power station.
** In the Goo Caverns, when Rex was held prisoner in an abandoned Ogel outpost and about to watch the Brickspider Bot kill Ben Gunn, General and Shock barge in with their Ogel Drilling Vehicle and save the day.
** Rex, Amanda, Rotor, and Kate [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] this trope, hoping to play it straight by going to the Temple of Creation, gathering Imagination, and then arriving at the Maelstrom Temple in the Dino Attack Team's darkest hour to save the day. Unfortunately, due to the UnspokenPlanGuarantee, this trope was ultimately [[SubvertedTrope subverted]].
* TheBigDamnKiss:
** Hertz has one with Naomi before she leaves on the teleport pad.
** Rex and Amanda's "you may kiss the bride" moment during their Wartime Wedding, as a ShoutOut to the scene from ''[[Film/PiratesOfTheCaribbeanAtWorldsEnd At World's End]]''.
* BigFancyHouse:
** The wealthy Remous family lived in a mansion, until it was burned down by Don Bricassius.
** As shown in ''Cold Dishes'', Bricassius has a mansion of his own, to signify his powerful position as TheDon.
** The Ogel family has multiple mansions due to their wealthy upper-class status. George Ogel's mansion is a wondrous place in the eyes of Talia Kaahs, who grew up in a poorer side of LEGOLAND. Supposedly, Evil Ogel's own mansion is even bigger and more impressive.
* BigStormEpisode: When Databoard, Stealth, Zenna, Axle, and Elizabeth went to an outpost on Adventurers' Island, they were trapped there for the duration of a heavy storm. Making matters worse, the storm caused a power outage, leading to the base becoming infested with Mutant Dinos.
* BigStupidDoodooHead: The harshest insult that Fogel, an even darker and more evil version of Evil Ogel, could come up with was "Mrs. Dumb-Mouth".
* BilingualBonus:
** At the bottom of the expository post in both ''Dino Attack RPG'' topics, the words "Play well!" are written. Franchise/{{LEGO}} is a amalgamation of the Danish phrase "leg godt", which translates to "play well".
** See [[NamesToRunAwayFrom/ForeignLanguageNames Foreign Language Names]] for the full list of BilingualBonus character names, but here are a few notable examples:
*** The Schattenberg family founded [=ShadowTech=]. What does "schatten" mean in German? "Shadow".
*** Dr. Dunkelheit was a Dino Attack nurse. Anyone who speaks German would know that "dunkelheit" is German for "darkness", spoiling the fact that she was actually a Stromling Agent in disguise.
*** Minerva's older brother, Tod Fabello, was accidentally killed in 2004. Not only is Tod a common first name, [[MeaningfulName but it is also the German word for "death".]]
*** Toa Antrakha may have [[ShoutOut named Ragnorok after]] a mech from ''Videogame/MechAssault'', but it is likely derived from the Norse word Ragnarok. According to Myth/NorseMythology, Ragnarok was essentially the apocalypse in the form of ultimate destruction of the gods and men in a cataclysmic battle with evil, monsters, and darkness. Sounds rather close to the Dino Attack, doesn't it?
*** If one were to interpret the "[[MysteriousMiddleInitial L]]" as the Spanish article "la", Greybeard's real name, Grisbarba L. Pirata, basically translates into "Greybeard the Pirate".[[note]]Technically, though, "grisbarba" would translate to "[[BlindIdiotTranslation beardgrey]]", but [[WordOfGod PeabodySam]] says that "Grisbarba" sounds better than "Barbagris".[[/note]]
** The [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Dr. Mario/Super Mario]] {{Expy}} is from Madarch City. "Madarch" is a Welsh word for "mushrooms".
** One of Dr. Rex's BossSubtitles, Mutant Tyrant Lizard King, basically translates into Mutant Tyrannosaurus Rex.
** The anti-aging serum was recently revealed to be named Jugend Serum. "Jugend" is the German word for "youth".
* BilingualDialogue:
** Quite conveniently, most dinosaurs and Mutant Dinosaurs understand English quite perfectly, even if they cannot speak it.
** The above scenario is inverted with Rex, who can understand the language of dinosaurs and can loosely translate the language of Mutant Dinosaurs, but he can no longer speak either language.
** [[AvertedTrope Averted]] with the female T-Rex encountered by Rex and Chompy on Adventurers' Island, who did not know English and needed Chompy as a translator.
* ABirthdayNotABreak: ''Pirates of the Tropical Sea'' shows that Mary Rose's sixteenth birthday isn't very happy... except in Timeline 2010-A.
** In Timeline 2004-A, Mary Rose's entire Resistance squad is either killed or assimilated by Ogel Drones, leaving her as the SoleSurvivor. She doesn't even realize it's her birthday until she overhears Elite Trooper Drone T-800 reporting the date.
** In the main timeline, Mary Rose [[spoiler:learns that Greybeard isn't actually her grandfather, leading to AdoptionAngst. Shortly afterward, Greybeard is lost, swept away by the sea when the Golden King punishes him for taking the Hourglass of Atlantis, leaving Mary feeling like she has just been orphaned again]]. Tough day, to say the least.
* BittersweetEnding:
** [[BigBad Dr. Rex]], [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus]], and the Mutant Dinos were finally defeated, but at the cost of the lives of [[spoiler:Rex, General, Semick]], and many others. However, a lot of emphasis is put on the "sweet" aspect of "bittersweet", such as it being said that their deaths should not be mourned but instead celebrated, to prevent this from sounding like a DownerEnding.
** The resolution of the Wallace Bishop side plot is that, despite cutting out the part of his brain that should contain his memories, Wallace still remembers his love for his family. Aww, so sweet, right? But don't forget that Wallace Bishop is still unfit for society and must remain in Napoleon XIV Mental Institution for the rest of his life. That's... rather bitter.
** Aside from the final post focused on Angel Eyes and Clint Wayne (who have bonded together to the point they are a ruthless duo in Gold City), many of Atton Rand's last posts deliberately tried to focus on the darker elements but as a compromise retained some degree of hope. Montoya goes home to his wife and promises a better life for his kids, but he could very easily come down with PTSD.
*** Sarah Bishop manages to survive the war with her daughter and is reunited with her daughter's biological father, but she is riddled with guilt over her actions and consequently suffering from insomni. Her daughter meanwhile has a severe case of PTSD and a drug addiction, but now the family has a loving husband and father in Pierce who is very clearly determined to help them.
* BlackComedy: The very existence of elite agent Redshirt, [[RedShirt who was introduced just so he could be killed off]], was largely PlayedForLaughs.
* BlackCloak: Finister, the Frickster, Frozeen as The Phantom, and the spirit in Greybeard's dream.
* BlackGalOnWhiteGuyDrama: Naomi and Hertz.
* BlackHelicopter: [=ShadowTech=]'s air vehicles are black T-1 Typhoons.
* BlatantBurglar: The Brickster, who wears a DominoMask and a jail jumpsuit at all times. His Brickster-Bots also wear the jail clothes.
* BlatantLies:
** Elizabeth's story about how she totally did ''[[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial not]]'' hijack an Iron Predator and cargo ship in order to get to LEGO Island.
** Dust's cover-up stories in general.
* BlindIdiotTranslation: Yes, "von" is the German word for "of", but in the context of a title like "Baron von Barron", it does not mean "Baron of Barron". "Baron von Barron" refers to a baron whose name is Barron, not a baron of a place called Barron. However, seeing as Sam's surname is definitely Sinister, since it is also his sister Alexia's maiden name, this "Blind Idiot" Translation was done [[InvokedTrope intentionally]] as a means to canonize both names for the character. And, seeing as Barron is essentially "[[{{Expy}} not-Germany]]", it might make some sense that some German words do not mean ''quite'' the same thing in Barron, meaning that "Baron von Barron" might mean "Baron of Barron" in Barron.
* BlindWithoutEm:
** Zach's field of vision is extremely limited without glasses. [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] while Zach was a Stromling. The Maelstrom presumably improved his eyesight, defeating the purpose of glasses.
** In his old age, Finister has poor eyesight and can barely see without his glasses.
* BlindfoldedTrip: Dr. Rex made sure that Rex and Chompy's cages were covered before transporting them through the Dino Island Laboratory.
* BloodFromTheMouth:
** After being shot by Lutsky, [[spoiler:Dust]] coughed up blood. True to the trope, it was fatal.
** [[spoiler:Amanda]] was coughing up blood after being fatally shot by Michelle Glados.
* BloodlessCarnage:
** For the most part, blood and gore has been kept down to minimum, as per one of the RPG's rules. Of course, one way you could look at it is that there is blood and some degree of gore, but it just is not usually described in depth.
** The Einstein Device wiped out an entire army of Mutant Dinos without shedding a single drop of blood.
* BluntYes: Kotua is fond of snarkily replying to rhetorical questions. For example:
-->'''Cane''': You think I'm dumb enough to tell you where he is?\
'''Kotua''': Yeah.
* BodyBackupDrive: Katerina Schattenberg has at least two of these, the first one being Kat, and the second one currently in use.
* BodyCountCompetition: During the battle of Quadrant 14, several Dino Attack agents start calling out how many Mutant Dinos they've killed.
* BookEnds: A surprising, yet completely unintentional, meta example. ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG'', which introduced [=PeabodySam=] to PlayByPostGames and thus directly led to the creation of ''Dino Attack RPG'', its spiritual successor, was started on December 21, 2004. ''Dino Attack: At War's End'' finally ended on [[MayanDoomsday December 21, 2012]]. Things truly do come full circle after all.
* BootCampEpisode: A short flashback in which James [=McGregor=] recalls an incident during his training, which apparently took place in a boot camp straight out of ''Film/FullMetalJacket''.
* BornAsAnAdult: When Frozeen was reborn after Dr. Rex's fatal Choke Hold, he was restored to a 6-year-older version of his pre-G.E. Body self.
* BossSubtitles: A few were given to Dr. Rex, including [[BilingualBonus Mutant Tyrant Lizard King]] and Evil Madman.
* BothSidesHaveAPoint: Specs' perspective on the conflicting views of the Dino Attack Team's elite agents.
* BottomlessMagazines:
** Zig-Zagged with Dino Attack weapons. Just how often is the team seen reloading their weapons? And yet, occasionally a Sonic Screamer or Cosmotronic Ray will run low or even out of ammo.
** [[AvertedTrope Averted]] by Clint Wayne, who's revolver realistically only holds six shots and he usually has to stop and reload.
** Most of the team's pirates use flintlock pistols, which are only capable of firing a single shot before one has to clean the barrel, place more gunpowder into the chamber before shoving a tiny metal ball inside. They're not usually seen to reload, but a logical justification is that people like Greybeard simply have multiple pistols so that they can keep shooting while under fire.
* {{Bowdlerise}}: The Director's Cut replaces most strong language with PardonMyKlingon instead. For example, Blade crying out "Jesus!" during his first battle with Axey is replaced with him saying "[[ThankTheMaker Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen]]!"
* BreadEggsMilkSquick: The only Mutant Dino phrases that Dromus understands are "yes", "no", and "back away now, or [[IllKillYou I'll kill you]]".
%%* BreakTheCutie: Kate Bishop somewhat, but moreso with Jenny.
* BreakTheHaughty: Sam Race wasn't ever haughty, per se, but he was very confident in his own abilities. His failed rescue attempt of Greybeard and King Race, which resulted in King Race's death, really broke Sam Race.
* BreakingTheFourthWall:
** When Aster Oid's memory card gets dusty, he doesn't just break the fourth wall; he ''demolishes'' it.
** Dr. Cyborg managed to see through the fourth wall when he downloaded too much information in the XERRD fortress.
** In ''The Madness of Agent Zero'', Zero is told that his old adventures no longer makes sense in the later canon [[spoiler:and therefore must be {{retcon}}ed. This causes Zero to GoMadFromTheRevelation as he realizes that he is a fictional character, and the entire ''Dino Attack RPG'' universe is just a work of fiction.]]
* BreakThemByTalking: Many of [[spoiler:the Darkitect's [[FaceYourFears illusions]]]] employ this trope, and some of them even succeeded in reducing their victims to {{Heroic BSOD}}s.
* BreathWeapon:
** Fire-breathing Mutant Lizards.
** Mutant T-Rexes that have been mutated beyond their normal capabilities tend to use this trope. For example, both Tex and Crunchbite, who were mutated by Green Goo exposure, and Dr. Rex, who was [[spoiler:possessed by the Maelstrom]].
** Sauro-Hunter exhibited this power in his early days.
* BreatherEpisode: A few of these have taken place, including Atton Rand's focus on the antics of Enter and Return after LEGO Island was sent into the Torn World.
* BrickJoke: Due to AdaptationalEarlyAppearance, the Director's Cut introduces Anju early in Act 1 and Kafei late in Act 2. They eventually have a WartimeWedding in Act 8. For any fans of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask'' who is familiar with their namesake, their wedding ends up feeling like a punchline to a joke set up six acts earlier.
* BriefcaseFullOfMoney: Edward Korrupte gave one to Silencia Venomosa as a forward payment, promising another one after the job was finished.
* TheBrigadier: A number of Elite Agents.
* BroadStrokes: How ''Dino Attack RPG'' treats the canon of various Toys/LEGOThemes, along with fan works such as ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG'', ''LEGO Island 3'', and ''FanFic/{{LMS}}''. This is even how, in its later years, it treats its own early canon.
* BrokeYourArmPunchingOutCthulhu:
** Pterisa's lightning bolt barely even hurt [[spoiler:the Darkitect]], and was more akin to [[DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu Flipping Off Cthulhu]] than [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu Punching Out Cthulhu]]. [[spoiler:The Darkitect]] responded by knocking off her helmet, causing Pterisa to suffer a HeroicBSOD.
** The team did eventually expel the Maelstrom from the planet, but much like [[Franchise/CthulhuMythos Cthulhu]] it is still very much alive and could come again. Additionally, [[AnyoneCanDie half the cast died]] in the process of achieving that temporary victory, as well as the fact that Kate, Sam Race, Sarah Bishop, and untold numbers of other survivors were severely traumatized by the experience.
%%* BrokenBird: Silencia Venomosa/Amanda Claw bares some traits of a BrokenBird.
* BuildLikeAnEgyptian: The Adventurers' Island Sphinx Area features Egyptian temples and architecture.
* BuiltWithLEGO: The ''Dino Attack RPG'' takes place on a planet literally called the LEGO Planet, in a universe literally called the LEGO Universe. Therefore, everything is built from LEGO. This is even exploited several times by characters who use the LEGO bricks and pieces around them to build solutions to problems.
* BullyingADragon: Greybeard, King Joseph Race, and Sam Race tried to anger and confuse Dr. Rex by driving circles around him and taking turns firing at him. [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by Laxus, who knew that it would not end well.
* BusCrash:
** If a player is banned from Website/BZPower after leaving ''Dino Attack RPG'', their characters are said to be formally discharged by Specs.
** Libo was killed off-screen sometime during his absence, a la DroppedABridgeOnHim.
* ButForMeItWasTuesday: For Schiess, the day Silencia Venomosa killed his team was the most important day of his life. But for Silencia Venomosa... it was Tuesday.
* ButHeSoundsHandsome: [[spoiler:[[SubvertedTrope Subverted]].]] When discussing TheMole, Spy described him as a "master at the art of [[TheInfiltration infiltrating]]" and a "skilled master of spies". This immediately caused Sgt. Ronald Army to suspect that Spy was really talking about himself. [[spoiler:[[RedHerringMole He wasn't]].]]
-->'''Ronald Army''': "Spy was obviously [[TheMole the spy]]! He gave himself away! Oh, he thought he was so tricky and smart, speaking in third-person, but no one would show so much respect towards a cowardly murderer unless that cowardly murderer was himself!"
* ButtMonkey:
** Plastic Serpent just can't seem to go anywhere without getting beaten up by Snake.
** French Fries was specifically brought back to serve such a role (so that players could get back at him for all the trouble he put them through in the LEGO Island arc, [[GoneHorriblyRight though Atton Rand didn't expect it to be quite as... brutal as his comeuppance ended up being]]).
* ButterflyOfDoom: Part of FUTURE's scheme involves making seemingly random attacks that are actually targeting agents who played an important role in the original timeline. Sometimes, that important role is a small one with greater ramifications. For example, because they assassinated Connors, Rev Raptor and Sereve never received her assistance in tracking down Landro, resulting in both Rev and Sereve dying and being unable to retrieve the Maelstrom Crystal.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:C]]
* CainAndAbel: Minerva and Oswald Fabello's sibling relationship became strained over the fact they fight for different causes.
* CallBack: Elizabeth claimed she could drive an Iron Predator because she once tried to steal one, referencing her rather controversial theft of an Iron Predator in order to get to LEGO City harbor early in the LEGO Island arc.
* CallForward:
** A number of these in ''First Assignment'':
*** Williams, Lisa, and Batman were introduced via the FinalBattle's comm chatter, while Walker made a brief cameo appearance. Williams, Lisa, and Walker all appear in ''First Assignment'', with Batman given a mention. Rick and Trouble (and possibly Stranger) make early appearances as well.
*** Walker suggests the nickname "Adventure" to Rick, who later goes by that nickname in ''At War's End''. Similarly, Rick bestows the nickname "honcho" upon Rex, which is what he always called Rex in ''At War's End''.
*** Rick mentions the original Headquarters Squad and Ronald E. Army. Rex also finds a deli called Tzenovich's Sandwiches, possibly the same shop opened up by Ivan Tzenovich.
*** [[invoked]]The comm chatter mentions Condr, Mutant Vinscale Octomus, [=ShadowTech=], the Raptors gang, a train that still runs, and rotten eggs in the Res-Q Station, which are all elements from the early days of ''Dino Attack RPG''. The comm chatter also features a Dino Attack agent who [[StopHavingFunGuys tells other agents to stop making references]] prompting another Dino Attack agent to respond with a ''Series/MontyPythonsFlyingCircus'' quote, just like a similar discussion that took place during the FinalBattle's comm chatter.
*** The entire scene with Rex and Trouble in the deli takes place on Playwell Avenue. In the FinalBattle, Playwell Avenue was the site where [[spoiler:Trouble sacrifices himself to save Rex]], making this a retroactive case of bittersweet BookEnds.
** A few more show up in ''Love and War'':
*** Numerous hints are dropped towards Amanda's backstory as Silencia Venomosa, which wouldn't be revealed until much later in the original version of the story. This includes her preference for being a Knife expert, but her regret and old shame associated with that life.
*** Throughout the story, Rex fears what would happen if he crossed the DespairEventHorizon and suffered from SanitySlippage, just as Phantom did, and ultimately decides that having Amanda as a LivingEmotionalCrutch would prevent such a thing from happening. In ''At War's End'', [[spoiler:Rex crosses that horizon and goes mad after Amanda is killed]].
** In ''The Madness of Agent Zero'':
*** Semick, Bluetooth, Raider, Pilot, Scout, Defend, and Pharisee are featured in a story set before any of those characters were introduced to the original RPG. Ata also makes an early appearance, but only just barely, since this story takes place just before Ata's debut in the RPG. While he doesn't actually appear, Python refers to a rookie agent who is implied to be Alpha (again, before Alpha's player joined the RPG).
*** When Zero [[spoiler:holds "Rex's" hand, he sees Dr. Rex's armored mutant form, the destruction of LEGO Island, the Maelstrom, Ata's arrest, and the Einstein Device]], referencing events that would not happen until later in the RPG.
** ''Time and Place'' features early appearances by Belle, Colonel, Dallas, Elfman, and Fate, who were all introduced in ''At War's End''.
** In ''Antithesis'', which is set before the Dino Attack, Anti-Amanda is described as a marionette whose strings are cut after she is fatally shot. Venomosa's guilt felt like a hole in her stomach, as though she had also been shot. In ''At War's End'', [[spoiler:the primary universe Amanda is fatally shot in the stomach and is likewise described as a marionette whose strings are cut]].
** ''For Want of Nails'' gives Gaston (first mentioned in the ''At War's End'' comm chatter) the AscendedExtra treatment.
** In ''Dear Sister'', Roger jokingly says that Sam Sinister will be the death of him. Sinister's FUTURE self, Finister, is the one who kills him.
** In version 1.2 of the Director's Cut, General refers to Talia as having an "untarnished purity" and fears she'll lose it in the Dino Attack war. This references ''Because Of You'', when Talia likewise regards her Timeline 1958-D AlternateSelf as "pure" and "untarnished" compared to herself after the Dino Attack.
* CallingTheOldManOut: Oswald told off Athena as a horrible mother just before shooting her.
* TheCameo: Tons of Cameo appearances of characters from everyone's favorite Toys/LEGOThemes took place in Antarctica to support Greybeard's effort to end the riots.
* CanisLatinicus: While lacertilia is Latin, the rest of the Hybrids' species names (quasifigus, pterisa, tyrannus, and velosis) are simply made-up vaguely-Latin-sounding names.[[note]]"Quasifigus" is a portmanteau of "quasi" and "minifigure", while "pterisa", "tyrannus", and "velosis" are corruptions of "pterosaur", "tyrannosaur", and "velociraptor", respectively.[[/note]]
* CannonFodder: Just about every Mutant Dino and unnamed Dino Attack agent exist only to be killed by the opposite side of the war.
* CannotSpitItOut: Frozeen still loves Shannon, but could not bring himself to say it out loud prior to the final battle.
* CanonDiscontinuity:
** Much material from the RPG's early days, ranging from Lord Sam Sinister going blind to the infamous ''Toys/{{BIONICLE}} [[JustForFun/XMeetsY Meets]] [[Toys/LEGOExoForce Exo-Force]] RPG'' incident, has been retconned into CanonDiscontinuity if it cannot be [[ReimaginingTheArtifact reimagined]].
** At one point in ''Alpha Team RPG: Ogel's Last Stand'', a man named Bishop was among the trainees learning to defend himself against fresh fruit. He mentioned having a wife and a daughter around the age of twelve. This was initially a reference to Kate (who is in her late teens in the ''Dino Attack RPG'', and probably would have been somewhere around the age of 11 or 12 at the time). However, this is no longer canon due to Kate's backstory revealing Sarah Bishop to be a single mother.
** At one point, Amanda was revealed to be [[{{Telepathy}} telepathic]] for shock value. It didn't work and was immediately retconned into discontinuity.
** Atton Rand's attempted {{Deconstruction}} of ''VideoGame/LEGOIsland'' was rejected by fans of the series since it turned the Brickolinis into {{Adaptational Dumbass}}es and Nick Brick into an AdaptationalJerkass in order to make itself work, so it was swiftly declared non-canonical.
* CanonWelding: After the death of ''Pirates RPG'', its continuity became welded with that of ''Dino Attack RPG''.
* CantKillYouStillNeedYou: The main reason [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus]] stepped in to save Dr. Rex from death. [[spoiler:He would not so easily let his strongest tether to LEGO Planet simply die, even if that meant keeping said tether in a perpetual FateWorseThanDeath.]]
* CaptainColorbeard: Greybeard, Goldbeard, and Redbeard are all pirates who are named after their beards and a color.
* CaptainCrash: This is why you should never let Libo fly or Sam Throramebi drive. They will crash your vehicle.
* CaptainSmoothAndSergeantRough: Many of the Elite Agents, particularly people like Rex and Zenna are known to try and operate in a humane manner as much as possible, trying to balance their objectives with doing what is best for those under there command. Then you got people like Rotor and Lutsky, who are known to be a lot more aggressive in their strategies, sometimes even placing their ultimate objective over the lives of their men.
* CardCarryingVillain: Ogel, the Brickster, Vladek, Sam Sinister, and Dr. Inferno all proudly see themselves as villains seeking control, destruction, and/or greed.
* CarnivoreConfusion: For the most part, we have seen little interaction between carnivores and herbivores. The most we have seen is a T-Rex, four Minifigs, and a pterosaur in the same room, and said T-Rex did not eat or attack any of her fellow roommates, which may invoke (but not necessarily confirm) the idea that non-mutant carnivores are abnormally civil. A T-Rex and a Minifig (for example, Chompy and Frozeen, an unnamed T-Rex and Taglong, another unnamed T-Rex and Zachary) will often get along, never mind the fact that, under more realistic circumstances, the T-Rex would likely see the Minifig as prey. However, the trope can be {{downplayed|Trope}} at times: Chompy can be a brutal predator when he wants to be, an unnamed female T-Rex seemed opposed to helping Minifigs, the other unnamed T-Rex killed Gonnerman, and the alpha female T-Rex was eager to tear Mr. Cunningham apart on the spot (and Taglong was quite afraid of her).
* {{Catchphrase}}: Walter has a habit of shouting "SHUT THE [[PardonMyKlingon ZNAP]] UP DONNIE!"
* TheCavalry:
** The Adventurers' Island dinosaurs and [=TumTum=] tribesmen in during the battle for the Temple of Hotep III.
** Alpha Team, the Rogue Knights, Emperor Chang Wu's fleet, and Ogel's forces during the FinalBattle.
** A villainous example from the same battle: the Fright Knights joining XERRD and Inferno's forces.
* CavalryBetrayal: The Hybrids arrived to help the Dino Attack Team in the Goo Caverns, but one of the Hybrids captured Rex so Dr. Rex could lure the team into a trap. Later, they arrived to aid the Dino Attack Team in the Torn World, and then immediately revealed their true allegiance to XERRD after the battle was over.
* CelibateHero: Hotwire is confirmed to be an UsefulNotes/{{aromantic}} asexual; he feels little to no romantic attraction to others. %% Holly Vinyaya was this in the Space Police.
* CementShoes: Alluded to by Keyser Soze, who says that she turns undercover cops into "underwater cops".
* CerebusRetcon:
** Some of Chompy's dialogue in ''Dino Attack RPG'' suggests that he suffered some emotional scarring as a result of Dr. Kilroy giving him to Frozeen in ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG'' (which, at the time, was intended as a silly use of RuleOfCool). Even though Dr. Kilroy did it out of gratitude to Alpha Team and Frozeen was a NiceGuy who always cared for Chompy, being taken from his family at such a young age without any say in the matter was probably not the best thing for Chompy.
** ''The Madness of Agent Zero'' explains BZP Noob #30000's now non-canon Toys/{{BIONICLE}}-related material (which was intended as silly, fun, and cool) as Zero slowly suffering a mental breakdown. He nearly gets killed by a Mutant T-Rex when he thinks that he has transformed into a Toa but is really just wearing a pair of night -vision goggles.
** In ''Dino Attack RPG'' and ''Merciful Escape'', Rex's LaserGuidedAmnesia was treated as little more than a plot point, with the former even using it as the punchline of a few jokes. In ''First Assignment'', we learn for the first time just what effect an erased memory had on Rex's mental state:
-->Having nothing, not even memories to look back upon, left him with a terrible, overwhelming emptiness that often kept him awake at night. He often felt as though he was peering into a black hole, fearing that what little remained of him would soon be dragged into the darkness as well. At times, he could feel that it was only his sense of purpose in joining Dino Attack Team that kept him grounded in reality.
** Aster Oid's memory card getting dusty and resulting in him BreakingTheFourthWall? Hilarious! [[spoiler:Zero]] experiencing the same MediumAwareness, which causes him to GoMadFromTheRevelation? Suddenly not funny anymore.
** Another example from ''The Madness of Agent Zero''. In ''At War's End'', Noomi Shaw mentions [=PeabodySam=] as a possible deity, and the scene was PlayedForLaughs. In ''The Madness of Agent Zero'', [[spoiler:Zero is driven mad by the revelation that [=PeabodySam=] is rewriting his story]].
* CerebusSyndrome: Big time. While the RPG's early days were far from [[LighterAndSofter Light and Soft]], there was a definite gradual shift to a much [[DarkerAndEdgier darker]] and more serious tone over the course of the RPG's lifetime.
** [=PeabodySam=] and Atton Rand both had Cerebus Syndromes of their own, as they both started with very idealistic characters who usually ended up in amusingly absurd situations, and by the RPG's end, their writing was far darker and much more mature and cynical in tone.
* ChainPain: Dromus's weapon of choice. Used to be Amanda's weapon of choice, but after her ReTool which made her less of a Dromus {{Expy}}, she dropped the ChainPain in favor of being a knife user.
* ChairReveal: PBB was introduced while sitting in a chair with his back toward Rex, speaking to Rex, and then spinning the chair around to reveal himself.
* ChaoticStupid: You can always count on Baldrick to come up with the craziest and stupidest plans in any given situation.
* CharacterCheck: Although their ''Dino Attack RPG'' characterizations tend to stray from the LEGO canon, the founding members (particularly Specs and Digger) were given a handful of lines during the final battle in an effort to bring them closer to their established personalities (such as Specs being an inventor and Digger being a thrill-seeker).
* CharacterCustomization: Every little trait, be it personality or physical, is up to the players.
* CharacterExaggeration:
** A minor note in the [[VideoGame/LEGOIsland LEGO Island Comic Adventures]] stated that the Brickster wished to be as evil as Evil Ogel. In ''Dino Attack RPG'', the Brickster has been exaggerated to the point of being Ogel's self-proclaimed #1 fanboy.
** Especially in Atton Rand and imperial officer's posts, Enter and Return have been exaggerated to the point that the ''only'' jokes they are capable of are variations of their "stretcher, megaphone, shark, tree, umbrella, and mailbox" sketch. In some other peoples' posts, their humor extends a little farther (for example, in one of [=PeabodySam=]'s posts, they were arguing about the color of their shirts), but for the most part, we only hear jokes about bringing a shark.
** In the [[CanonDiscontinuity non-canon]] scene where Papa Brickolini was arrested by the Nick Brick, the Brickolinis were exaggerated ''heavily''. In the original games, the Brickolinis spoke with a light Italian accent and accidentally freed the Brickster twice (and the second time, they tried to prevent it from happening again). In this scene, the Brickolinis' Italian accents were turned up to eleven, and the two chefs were depicted as completely oblivious as they incompetently freed the Brickster again and again over the years by constantly sending super-spicy pizzas to the jail, even after what happened the first two times.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn:
** Rex was originally introduced as the ultimate idealist, who mourned the death of a random Mutant T-Rex he accidentally killed. As Characterization Marched On, the horrors of war eventually drove Rex to a considerably more cynical outlook.
** Stranger was going to be more of a tough, no-nonsense kind of hunter person (not unlike Titan, who in retrospect seems more like a Suspiciously Similar Substitute), but his snide remarks about the ludricousness of the situations he found himself in came to define his more humorous LampshadeHanging attitude.
** Rotor was initially introduced in the ''Alpha Team RPG'' as a companion to Zenna whose primary role was simply that of [[TheDriver a helicopter pilot who could get her and other agents to and from places]]. While he may still have been a little over-enthusiastic about his job, he was still taking orders and a lot less aggressive, even saving the life of a stranded agent. Then he was introduced to the ''Dino Attack RPG'', where he was suddenly leading squads of helicopters and even attempting to operate behind the backs of his superiors, becoming the tough, battle-hardened, aggressive, classical-music playing Elite Agent with whom most players are familiar.
** Kate was initially set up as something of a rookie with the potential to become an ActionGirl before evolving into a more [[{{Deconstruction}} deconstructive]] portrayal of a teenager who joined the team never really knowing what she was getting into.
** Hertz was introduced as a disposable agent who could fill in a gap created by Reptile's removal. [[RedShirt While intended as a character who could easily be killed off]], [[MauveShirt Hertz has gained a notable role in the RPG since his introduction]].
** Garry was originally conceived as a far more brutal character who would not only torture the XERRD prisoners alongside Rotor but ''blackmail'' Copper into keeping quiet about their actions. Eventually Atton's posts started to humanize him, making the character somewhat more sympathetic and likeable.
** When Jenny first appeared, she was described as being "slightly older than Kate". Given that Kate is 18, that would have put Jenny around 19-20. Later posts implied her to be younger, around 12-14.
** Pierce was originally considered as a love interest for Zenna before his backstory with Kate made Sarah Bishop into ''his ''love interest.
** In a similar situation as Rex, Dr. Cyborg started off a a very idealist agent, thanks to his XERRD background. However, as the game went on, this devolved until it wasn't mentioned much at all.
* CharacterNameAlias: No, Dino Attack agent Batman isn't actually Franchise/{{Batman}}. He's just a big fan of Batman and wanted to claim it as his codename before anyone else did.
* ChasedByAngryNatives: Dust and Zachary had to work together to escape angry [=TumTum=] tribesmen after the former escaped their village. This an interesting variation on the trope, since they could not afford to attack the natives, even in self-defense, or else risk forever losing their chances of gaining Achu's allegiance.
* ChasteHero: Nazareno.
* ChastityCouple: Zach and Minerva; even while spending the night outside in midwinter -- a situation in which cuddling would have been not only heartwarming, but ''practical'' -- they roll away from one another before going to sleep.
* ChekhovMIA:
** Ben Gunn, who became M.I.A. at the end of the Goo Caverns mission only to return after the Adventurers' Island mission to warn the Dino Attack Team about the upcoming final battle.
** [[spoiler:Trouble]] returned to save Rex in the final battle after being M.I.A. for six years, seven months, and seven days (in real-time).
* ChekhovsBoomerang: The return of Ata during the LEGO Island story arc, during which time he found the Constructopedia. And again, Ata became important just before the final battle... [[spoiler:when it was revealed that he was a [[TheMole mole]] working for XERRD.]]
* ChekhovsGag:
** Ben Gunn's "[[{{Videogame/Portal}} That cake is a lie]]" was nothing more than an amusing line at first... [[spoiler:that Rex later remembered and helped him break away from the Darkitect's [[FaceYourFears illusions]].]] Similarly, Frozeen's insanity from the ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG'' had a brief relapse to grant him InsanityImmunity.
** The idea of a cyborg Mutant T-Rex was first brought up by Dr. Cyborg as a joke while he was riffing ''Dino Cop'' with Andrew, Joike, Pterisa, and Laxus before the FinalBattle. In the Final Battle itself, Cyrista's Bane showed up... and nobody was laughing at the joke anymore.
* ChekhovsGun:
** The T-1 Typhoon that was left in the desert after Zenna and George were attacked by Natives ended up having a brief but important role in driving an invading army of Mutant Dinosaurs out of the Dino Attack Team's camp on Adventurers' Island.
** Shortly before the Goo Caverns mission, it was established that Dino Attack Team began developing a weapon powerful enough to [[InstantWinCondition destroy an entire army without leveling a city]]. Think this is going to be important sometime in the future?
** Hotwire's PDA malfunctioned after Kat's death. Turns out that's what happens when a human consciousness stores itself in a pocket-sized communication device.
** Throughout ''Love and War'', it's repeatedly mentioned that Amanda Claw has a knife on her belt, which she keeps hesitating to use against Finister and the H.R.D.B. Towards the end of the story, she finally draws the knife and uses it to stab Phantom in the knee, freeing herself from his hold.
* ChekhovsGunman:
** Ghost was character that rode on a Fire Hammer with Minerva to the rear guard camp. After Brikman [=McStudz=] reread the ''Dino Attack RPG'' and remembered the existence of Ghost, he reintroduced him as being [[TheMole a spy]] for the Maelstrom for his entire existence.
** Loop was initially an unnamed Inferno henchman who framed Kat and B for murder, only to later return and be revealed as part of [=ShadowTech=].
** Ata, at first, was a seemingly-random unnamed communications expert who thought his GPS was glitching. He ended up helping Rex and Amanda return to the Dino Attack Team. Then, he became a ChekhovsBoomerang... twice.
** Oh, Frank Einstein. Started off as a seemingly-random extra, ascended to [[spoiler:an ultimate DeepCoverAgent and TheMole]].
** Matthew Vherestorm was just some guy apart of Nazareno's past. As the final battle rolled around, he was revealed to have reformed as Blaire Darkling, a member of XERRD.
* ChekhovsVolcano: Rather early in the Goo Caverns mission, it was established that Quadrant 14 was home to some rather unstable volcanoes. Guess what erupted at the end of the mission?
* ChessMotifs: A few of them surrounding [[spoiler:the false]] Wallace ''Bishop''. Especially in the way that [[spoiler:his messages were contained within chess pieces]] and his declaration that, sometimes, "the bishop must be sacrificed" to win.
* TheChessmaster:
** Cam O'Cozy, who intentionally created a violent feud between the idealist and realist sides of the team (simply taking advantage of a high period of tension between them at the time), with the ultimate goal of destroying the team. Of course one could also go a step farther and label [[BigBad Dr. Rex]] himself as such, seeing as he had planted Cam O'Cozy along with some Maelstrom-infected bricks to achieve that goal.
** The original Chaos served as TheChessmaster controlling Kotua's actions for much of the early Dino Attack in a grand scheme to get its revenge on the Alpha Team agent and free itself from its Mayan prison.
** Dust has had a master plan for some time considering his plains to take the temple of Hotep III ranging from dropping care packages for himself on strategic points across the island, blackmailing members of the D.A., infiltrating the XERRD base and destroying critical data, and falsely translating the blueprints to the temple.
** Agent Cane, who surruptitiously hijacked all of Katerina Schattenberg's work in order to settle a feud that started a generation before him.
** Palmer, who tricked Garry both into leading him to the source of the Maelstrom (essentially making him a super-Stromling of sorts, especially now that Zach was cured and Ahua is dead, leaving him to take their places) and made his fellow teammates paranoid to the extent that one of them was murdered... by Garry himself.
** The ultimate Chessmaster of the entire Dino Attack is [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus. [[TheManBehindTheMan He manipulated XERRD into creating the Dino Attack in the first place]] and led Lord Sam Sinister into the Maelstrom Temple with the Maelstrom Crystal, to name a few examples. Even after being defeated at the Maelstrom Temple, Baron Typhonus had a back-up plan to [[DemonicPossession possess Dr. Rex's body]].]]
* ChewBubblegum: Sarah Bishop shouted a BZP-friendly version of the famous line before killing a bunch of Inferno henchmen and Hybrids.
* ChildSoldiers:
** Kate is occasionally seen as one. Technically she's in her late teens, but that is still fairly young when compared to the other agents, most of whom are a lot older.
** Interestingly, there are thirteen other agents that are officially eighteen-years (three that are Elite Agents) and they are not seen as ChildSoldiers.
** In the early days of ''Dino Attack RPG'', there were numerous players whose primary characters were ChildSoldiers as young as 7 years old. This was something that [=PeabodySam=] had not considered when he made the ''Dino Attack RPG'''s sign-up form, so he later altered the form to state that primary characters had to be at least 18 years old. The ChildSoldiers were later {{retcon}}ned to be 17 years old and lying about their age when listed in the [[http://dinoattackrpg01.wikia.com/wiki/Dino_Attack_Team/Agents Dino Attack Team/Agents]] page on the wiki.
* ChokeHolds:
** Dr. Rex once used one against Frozeen, surprisingly while the latter was in a G.E. Body, to intimidate the other prisoners. Later, he Choke Held Frozeen again, and this time actually strangled him to death.[[note]]He got better, though.[[/note]]
** In its final moments, the Brickspider Bot v1.0 had one against Rex and nearly succeeded in killing the Dino Attack agent.
** Minerva received one from Ahua which involved the Maelstrom choking her as well. She was only saved when Zach refused to watch her die.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome:
** This has happened to many characters when the player controlling them leaves the RPG.
** [[Toys/RockRaiders Axle]] had a notable role in the RPG as a member of the Dino Attack Team, something nobody seems to remember anymore.
** There was also Trouble, who was a major character at one point before inexplicably vanishing, and [=PeabodySam=] openly refused to bring him back [[spoiler:because he was secretly saving Trouble [[BackForTheFinale for the final battle]]]].
** Mort, until he returned during the hunt for TheMole.
** This nearly happened to Septimus several times.
** "Gene Rick," the body-swapped XERRD scientist whom Andrew and Laxus rescued, got dropped shortly before Zach's camp ambush.
* CirclingMonologue:
** [[spoiler:The illusion of]] Kotua gave one of these to Rex, who was lying paralyzed on the floor.
** Loop gave one to Swerve before mutating him with a Mind-Control Orb.
** At her wedding, Evil Ogel circles around Talia Kaahs like a vulture while monologuing about his goals and motivations. Lady Evil later does the same thing to Talia; apparently, it's a common trope in the Evil OGEL Empire.
* CigarChomper: Don Bricassius, Clint, Snake, and Trigger.
* {{Claustrophobia}}: Implied to be the case with Andrea Jackson Orange, explaining why she suffers from hallucinations when wearing her father's gas mask.
* ClearTheirName: The Director's Cut reveals that Zero did some investigative work to clear Rex's name after the latter was set up by FUTURE and discharged from Dino Attack Team.
* CliffhangerCopout:
** At one point in the original RPG, BZP Noob #30000 wrote a post where Zero encounters Rex (in his Mutant T-Rex form) and Trouble in the middle of Rex speaking out loud in perfect English, and the scene ends with a cliffhanger as both parties react to one another. [=PeabodySam=], unsure what to do with this twist, ended up using a small TimeSkip to skip ahead to the next morning and did not follow up on it at all. This is averted in the Director's Cut, which removes Zero's encounter with Rex and instead goes in a different direction by developing his earlier encounter with Amanda.
** During the Dacta Heist flashback, [=PeabodySam=] ended one post with Silencia Venomosa walking towards Schiess and Montoya's car as it caught on fire, and he intended for Atton Rand to follow up on this cliffhanger by writing their exciting escape. Instead, Atton Rand skipped ahead to Schiess and Montoya checking into a motel sometime after their escape. The Director's Cut addresses this by writing a new scene depicting them escaping the burning car.
** During the final battle, that guy from that show ended a post with a cliffhanger in which Spy Clops is holding Hertz in the air and is in mid-strike with a knife aimed at Hertz's neck. Atton Rand's next post aborts Spy Clops's would-be lethal strike when Kate gasps in horror, which somehow results in Spy Clops suddenly ignoring Hertz entirely and going after her instead, just for the sake of setting up Sarah Bishop's subsequent MamaBear moment. The Director's Cut mitigates this by making Kate more proactive, deliberately interrupting Spy Clops's attack by throwing an 8-ball at him.
* ClimbingClimax: At the end of the FinalBattle, Dr. Rex climbed to the top of Dino Attack Headquarters and battled against Dino Attack's T-1 Typhoon fleet.
* ClimbingTheCliffsOfInsanity: Dino Attack Team's ascent of the Ogel's Island volcano.
* ClosestThingWeGot:
** Garry's rationale for ordering Fuchs to help in the emergency room.
** The rationale of the founding members when they temporarily promoted Shannon Grimton, who was a technology expert, to head of communications. Of course, they only remembered afterwards that they had Hertz, who was much closer for the job...
** When Pierce decided to marry Sarah Bishop, the closest thing they had to an actual minister was a shy, semi-religious young doctor. Not exactly the best choice but it was either her or Pharisee.
** Think a semi-religious doctor the ClosestThingWeGot to a minister? During Rex and Amanda's WartimeWedding, Greybeard proclaimed that ''he'' was the Closest Thing We Got... because he's the oldest Minifig on the team?
* CloudCuckooLander:
** Ben Gunn, who was suffering from senility during his time in the Goo Caverns.
** [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] with Cam O'Cozy, who was initially set up as such a character, but the later [[RoboticReveal revelation of him being an android]] would suggest that this was just a ruse.
** [[spoiler:The real]] Wallace Bishop (the one locked up in Napoleon XIV Mental Institution in Antarctica).
** When Frozeen goes insane, it's the CloudCuckooLander type of insanity. He believes that everyone around him is a leprechaun out to steal his gold; the cows must be defeated to save the monkeys; and everything has to do with Mexican food.
** Athena Fabello comes across as this, primarily when meeting Oswald and Blaire in Napoleon XIV and as a nineteen-year-old.
** When wearing a helmet, Andrea Jackson Orange thinks that she's in a SugarBowl setting populated by cute baby dinosaurs as a result of hallucinations she experienced while suffering from {{claustrophobia}} in a makeshift bunker for who-knows-how-long.
* ClusterFBomb:
** Trigger is a walking Cluster [=MegaBlok=]-Bomb.
** One agent on the comm chatter dropped a bomb following [[spoiler:[[DivineIntervention Dr. Rex's revival]]]].
* TheCoconutEffect: Many inaccuracies regarding the nature of dinosaurs and Mutant Dinosaurs are intentionally preserved in ''Dino Attack RPG'' to accurately follow [[Toys/LEGODinoAttack its source material]].
* CodeName: Many Dino Attack agents signed up under codenames. In ''First Assignment'', it's suggested that it's a carryover from Alpha Team, a secret agent group that necessitates codenames for their operatives.
* ColdBloodedTorture: Rotor beating the living daylights out of ''an already terrified and confused child''. [[AmbiguouslyEvil How much of it was for information and how much was just Rotor being Rotor is up to the reader's interpretation.]]
%%* ColdSniper:
%%** [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Sniper]].
%%** A guard at the XERRD Fortress who briefly caused Rotor's attacking force some trouble.
%%** Barry Jackson can also come across as one at times, at least whenever he's actually sniping.
* ColorblindCasting: Since most characters in the RPG are represented by yellow-skinned LEGO minifigures, [=PeabodySam=] views them as being able to represent any race. The only exceptions are characters whose race are explicitly mentioned (such as Pharisee being a ScaryBlackMan), or characters whose natural hair color (i.e. blonde or red) suggests that they are probably fair-skinned.
* ColourCodedForYourConvenience: Green Mutant Lizards are camouflage, red Mutant Lizards are fire-breathing, yellow Mutant Lizards are acid-spitting, purple Mutant Lizards are stealth, and black Mutant Lizards are darkness.
* CombatTentacles: Paulie Gonepus has these of the robotic kind.
* ComfortingTheWidow: Sam Throramebi tried to use this trope on [[spoiler:Talia Kaahs]] in hopes of winning her over as a girlfriend, but Frozeen and Greybeard [[DeathGlare silently]] called Sam out on his apparent lack of regard for [[spoiler:General]]'s very recent death.
* ComicBookAdaptation: ''DINO ATTACK: Saga of a Conflict'' was a short-lived graphic novel adaptation of ''Dino Attack RPG'', created by Mustache Maniacs Film Co.
* CompleteTheQuoteTitle: Prior to version 2.1, Chapter 11 of the downloadable archive was titled "Creatures of Chaos". This is part of a quote from ''VideoGame/LEGOUniverse'', "[...] and creatures of chaos have no master." This foreshadows what happens to Kotua and Chaos during the chapter.
* CompositeCharacter: The Director's Cut merges several characters who were (implicitly or explicitly) separate characters in the original RPG, in order to give some smaller characters a larger role:
** The original Maw and the Mutant T-Rex that killed the tamed Maw were merged into a single T-Rex named Sharptooth.
** General Jim is combined with Gil's unidentified boss and the LEGOLAND commander interrogated by Magma.
** Nordic fills the roles originally played by Nuju, Matoro, and Norik.
** Sullivan is combined with the hotel owner in the reworked Trigger introduction.
* CompoundTitle: In the ''At War's End'' downloadable archive and the Director's Cut, two back-to-back chapters are titled "Out of the Frying Pan" and "Into the Fire".
* CompromisingCall: When Kotua was trying to hide from Thorn, Crystal, and Coal, he suddenly received a radio message from Blade requesting help during his first battle with Axey. This gave Kotua's position away to his [=ShadowTech=] pursuers.
* ConflictBall: Idealists versus realists, ''especially'' during Digger's revolt, although that was due to Digger's emotions being manipulated by the Maelstrom.
* ConservationOfNinjutsu:
** A possible explanation regarding the notable difference in strength between Stromling Agents and Stromling Explorers. There are rarely more than one or two Stromling Agents on-screen at a time, and they prove very hard to defeat. Stromling Explorers almost always act as a group, leaving them as nothing more than CannonFodder.
** The trope is noticeable with common Mutant Dinos. Compare how hard it is to kill one Mutant Raptor versus an entire pack of Mutant Raptors.
* ConspiracyRedemption:
** After hanging out with Cam O'Cozy and French Fries, Zenna helped leak information regarding the Antarctica mission and inadvertently caused riots and an idealist-realist conflict of escalated violence. However, she redeemed herself through working quickly and efficiently to defeat Cam O'Cozy, who was fueling the fires of the idealist-realist conflict, and provide medical aid to those injured in the riots, and received a promotion to Elite Agent as a result.
** Tracer was part of a group of realist agents supporting O'Cozy, but managed to redeem himself by working with Hotwire.
* ContinuityCavalcade: In many ways, the final battle, especially due to the comm chatter.
* ContinuityDrift:
** The Brickspider Bot v1.0 initially denied any connections to Dr. Inferno and referred to the MadScientist as a "pitiful fool". When writing later plot developments, [=PeabodySam=] forgot about this detail and revealed that the Brickspider Bot was an ally of Dr. Inferno.
** Atton Rand says that Baldrick was hired by Dino Attack Team as an example of showing how desperate Dino Attack is, to the point where they'd be willing to hire total lunatics. Yet, Atton Rand also stated that Dino Attack Team rejected Dude for having a stupid codename. Uh... which one is true? The Dino Attack Team that would be willing to hire ''anyone'' would not reject someone just for such an inconsequential reason. These two depictions are mutually exclusive, and yet, according to Atton Rand, they're both true...?
* ContinuityNod:
** In the Ugalego temple, there was a wrecked [[Toys/LEGOAlphaTeam Scorpion Orb Launcher]]. The last time a Scorpion Orb Launcher was seen on Adventurers' Island was early in the ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG'', during the same mission that ended with Frozeen adopting Chompy.
** According to Frozeen, aside from a mishap involving a billboard and a stray Mutant Raptor, reconstruction of Toys/LEGOCity has been going smoothly. The incident involving the billboard and Mutant Raptor was a reference to a comic in the ''LEGO Brickmaster Magazine'' November-December 2005 issue.
** The celebration on LEGO Island is full of these, sure to please any long-time fan of [[VideoGame/LEGOIsland the series]].
** In ''For Want of Nails'', Specs mistakes Fogel's bat wings for a cloak while viewing the security tape. This references the fact that he initially mistook Pterisa's wings for a torn cape while she was dressed as a samurai.
* ContinuityPorn: With over seven years of canon, ''plus'' references to other [=RPGs=] and numerous Toys/LEGOThemes, it's not hard to get overwhelmed by all the canon in ''Dino Attack RPG''.
* ContrastingReplacementCharacter: Joe Harry is a friendly idealist, in contrast with the murderous madman Duke that he replaced.
* ConvectionSchmonvection: Lord Sam Sinister could stand at the edge of a volcanic crater with boiling lava below him without any sort of heat-resistant suit.
* CoolAirship: Although ''Dino Attack RPG'' has seen a large number of these in its early days, including PBB's Airship, the ''Saber'', Villains Headquarters, and the ''Iron Hammer'', the ''Voltage'' will always stand out in the minds of ''Dino Attack RPG'''s early players as one of the definitive traits of the early ''Dino Attack RPG'' experience.
* CoolGate:
** King Joseph Race and Sam Race set up a ''VideoGame/LegoRacers 2''-style portal gate between the Ogel Control Center and Dino Attack Headquarters, allowing Rex, General, and Shock to instantly teleport to the latter after escaping the Goo Caverns.
** In ''Antithesis'', the Alternate Nexus to Infinity is a large ''VideoGame/LegoDimensions''-style portal gate that can open rifts to alternate universes.
* CoolMask: Specs always wears a balaclava.
* CoolOldGuy: Solomon is in his eighties. General, Ben Gunn, and Frank Einstein are in their late seventies. Greybeard is supposedly older than everyone else, as part of a running joke.[[note]]According to Word Of God, Greybeard is at least ninety years old.[[/note]] All of them are perfectly capable of kicking butt and surviving an apocalypse.
* CoolShades: Blaire Darkling always wears dark, reflective sunglasses presumably after an accident during the creation of the Mutant Dinos. Trigger also wears them sometimes, as does Viper, Pharisee, and Rotor. True to his inspiration, Paulie Gonepus also wears Cool Shades.
* TheCoronerDothProtestTooMuch: Variation... er... sort of, though the victim in question wasn't actually murdered so much as hidden and too frightened to say anything. To see that Jenny gets proper medical attention without Copper finding out that she'd been deliberately tortured, Garry explained that she tried to escape (she was after all, a prisoner), ran into him, and put up a fight, so he simply acted in self-defense. Somewhat subverted in that he ended up eventually confessing to Copper anyway.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive:
** Walter Breen, especially during his days as administrator of Brick League United. Even after he left the company, he retained many traits of a CorruptCorporateExecutive.
** Cane had a bit of this in him as well, though in his early characterization by Kotua in Space, he was more of a ColonelKilgore.
** Uærlig Sindstorme and Edward Korrupte seem to be examples of such, given that they're willing to hire bounty hunters, criminals, mercenaries, and any other form of hired gun to perform armed robberies against each other (which has gotten a few innocent people killed), not to mention the fact that Sindstorme seemed genuinely pleased when his hired guns set up the murder of an innocent bystander as a tragic accident (though it might have been more because he expected to avoid the potential consequences than it was the murder itself). The reason for all this violence? [[EvilIsPetty They're trying to steal each other's products for money.]]
*** [[NamesToRunAwayFrom/ForeignLanguageNames If it wasn't obvious enough, the surname of Dacta's CEO is Danish for "corrupt" and the given name of Mindstorms' president is Danish for "dishonest".]]
** Implied to be the case with Mr. Bonaparte. He prescribes his patients with "classified" medications, but we have not seen anyone at Napoleon XIV Mental Institution whose mental health has improved under his supervision. Napoleon XIV also has a history of security issues, such as when Wallace Bishop escaped and when Athena Fabello went missing; in the latter case, to avoid bad press and investigations into Napoleon XIV, Mr. Bonaparte wrote a formal letter stating that Athena had passed away.
* TheCorruption: The Maelstrom.
* CowTools:
** The machine that goes "BING!", which, despite being the most expensive machine in Dino Attack Headquarters, has no clear function other than going "BING!".
** For the most part, Enter and Return's arsenal. However, we did once get to see Enter use a shark in CPR, but what they do with trees is anyone's guess.
* CPRCleanPrettyReliable: [[AvertedTrope Averted]]. Upon being revived by Enter, the first thing Zelda did was vomit in his face.
* CradlingYourKill: In ''Time and Place'', Anubis gently caresses and comforts a Mutant Lizard that he just fatally shot, calming it down during its final moments of living.
* CranialProcessingUnit:
** The Brickspider Bot v1.0 can only be disabled by destroying its head. Interestingly, if the head is detached from the body but still intact, the body can still function, but as soon as the head is destroyed, the Brickspider Bot ceases to move.
** Subverted by the H.R.D.B. When Rex tells his teammates to fire at its head, it turns out that the T-Rex head is only a hologram; the actual robot doesn't appear to have a head.
** [[AvertedTrope Averted]] by Aster Oid, whose vital innerworkings were located in his torso, not in his head.
* CrateExpectations: Injection needles containing the antidote to XERRD's toxic gases were contained in a crate, which Reptile opened using a crowbar.
* CreatorCameo: avmatoran appeared as Mathew Wise, and several people suspect that Samuel Piaker is actually [=PeabodySam=].
* CreepyMonotone: Michelle Glados always speaks in a flat monotone voice, which makes her far more unsettling than if she showed the proper emotion in her voice.
* CrisisCrossover: If there's a Toys/{{LEGO Theme|s}} that does not take place on another planet, it will likely show up in some form or another in ''Dino Attack RPG''. And even if it takes place on another planet (for example, [[Toys/LEGOLifeOnMars Life on Mars]] or [[Toys/LEGOSpacePolice Space Police]]), it still may show up.
* CriticalFailure: Discussed. Trish explains that rolling a nat-1 in ''Disasters & Dinosaurs'' results in catastrophic failure.
* CriticalHit: While playing ''Disasters & Dinosaurs'', Jessie rolls a nat-20 when trying to attack Chaos, which Trish likens to winning the lottery. The DM, Vinnie, decides that this lucky roll allows Wing's attack to [[KillItWithIce freeze Chaos solid]].
* CrossOver: Essentially, ''Dino Attack RPG'' has crossed over with ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG'' and the original ''Pirates RPG''.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Ben Gunn may look like a silly strange old man who rambles about nonsense... but when he is angry, he proves himself to be a dangerous martial artist.
* CruelMercy: Rex attempted to give this to Dr. Rex, believing that it would be a fate that he deserved. [[spoiler:Unfortunately, it didn't quite work out as planned, as it gave Baron Typhonus enough time to make his DivineIntervention.]]
* CrucifiedHeroShot:
** [[spoiler:Dust's]] appearance at his death was partly inspired by the classic death of William Dafoe's character in ''Film/{{Platoon}}''.
** When [[spoiler:Rex's Creative Spark was extracted from his body]], his arms were raised in a way that put him in a T-position, which might bring forth imagery of the Cross.
* CryIntoChest:
** Kate while talking to her mother about Frank Einstein's reveal.
** Amanda does this with Roger in ''Dear Sister'', when she breaks down and starts crying after Roger compares themselves to Kyle Edwards' children.
* CrypticBackgroundReference: Dino Attack RPG takes place in 2010 and was first started in 2005. Since the details of what would happen over the next five years (in both official LEGO story and in Website/BZPower LEGO RPG story) could not be predicted, [=PeabodySam=] seized the opportunity to make Cryptic Background References regarding the fates of his ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG'' characters, such as the death of Rebel Drone and the mysterious disappearance of Frozeen. Although some of this background information was intended to be explained by a later Alpha Team RPG (likely ''Ogel's Last Stand''), even in 2012 many questions about what exactly happened in this six-year span between ''Alpha Team RPG'' and ''Dino Attack RPG'' remain unanswered.
* CueTheSun: ''Dino Attack RPG'''s final post ended with sunrise on Adventurers' Island.
* CurbStompBattle:
** Amanda vs. Sam Sinister and the Brickster in the subway station, and Frozeen and Libo vs. Lord Vladek in the subway tunnel.
** Rex vs. French Fries and Pharisee vs. French Fries.
** Pharisee vs. Trigger was actually a [[SubvertedTrope subversion]]. For most of the fight, it was definitely a CurbStompBattle, as Pharisee easily overpowered Trigger in the fight. However, it was ultimately subverted because Trigger knocked out Pharisee in the end, emerging as the victor of that fight.
* CurseCutShort:
** General, immediately after discovering the stasis tube of Talia Kaahs. Mind you, this was before the phrase "Son of a [[PardonMyKlingon MegaBlok]]" became widely used in the RPG, so at the time it was implied that he did not say "[=MegaBlok=]".
** Just before leaving the Goo Caverns, Greybeard thought about Ben Gunn and, in order to express his pity for the old hermit, was about to describe him as a "poor bastard". Before he could finish the last word, he was cut off.
** Oswald was describing Athena (and by extension, Minerva) with a phrase that would have been ended with a word not appropriate for Website/BZPower, only to be interrupted by Minerva.
** In a Shout Out to ''[[Videogame/HalfLife2 Half-Life 2]]'', Andrew's message to [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus]] was obscured by Hertz shouting.
** In the Director's Cut, Brickster starts to call Vladek a "smartass" (as an ActorAllusion to David L. Lander's role in ''Film/WhoFramedRogerRabbit'') but gets cut off by a Mutant Dino roar.
* CutawayGag: Just after Greybeard sarcastically mentioned calling the mummy of Pharaoh Hotep III on his cell phone, it briefly cut to Pharaoh Hotep III's mummy grumbling that no one ever calls him on his cell phone.
%%* TheCutie: Kate.
* {{Cyborg}}: Dr. Cyborg, General, and Cyrista's Bane are all living beings who were enhanced with robotics.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:D]]
* DancePartyEnding: The various parties across the LEGO Planet after the Dino Attack war ended, most notably the celebration on LEGO Island.
%%* DarkAndTroubledPast: Amanda Claw, General, Scratch, Minerva and Oswald Fabello, Dust, Greybeard, and the list goes on.
* DarkFic: Look at [[Toys/LEGODinoAttack the source material]], which despite its heavy militaristic theme and post-apocalyptic setting, has zero casualties. Now look at ''Dino Attack RPG'', which is filled to the brim with death and despair. Notice a difference in tone?
%%* DarkerAndEdgier: Definitely, considering [[Franchise/{{LEGO}} its source material]].
* DarkestHour: Did it begin with [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus's DivineIntervention, the death of Amanda Claw, or the Mutant Lizard invasion of Dino Attack Headquarters]]? Regardless of where it began, it's certain that the final battle definitely had its DarkestHour.
* DangerousDeviceDisposalDebacle: The injection needle that was used to infect Amanda Claw with Mutant Dino Serum was never properly disposed of (in the Director's Cut, Zero left it in the trashcan and meant to come back for it later but never did). This allowed the needle to eventually fall into Andrew's hands, and he deliberated for a while whether to inject himself with the remaining serum left in the syringe.
* DatingCatwoman: While Covert (as well as the rest of the Agents Defense Organization) is not a villain, she served as an antagonist to Magma for at least two years during the inter-agency rivalry between Alpha Team and the Agents. After the Dino Attack, Magma and Covert openly declared their love for one another, making this too explicit to be FoeRomanceSubtext.
* ADayInTheLimelight:
** Many of Atton Rand's first posts in ''At War's End'' were written from the perspective of the staff of Outpost 4, showing their reactions to the mutant dinos' attack on the Rear Guard camp. His primary character Zenna was reduced to little more than one or two passing mentions.
** The short stories ''The Huntsman'' and ''Time and Place'' serve this purpose for Ata and Anubis, respectively.
* TheDeadHaveNames: In ''The Madness of Agent Zero'', Garret and Kord were killed en route to LEGO Studios. The only things we learn about either of them are their names, and that's only revealed posthumously.
* DeadMansSwitch: Demoman's death trap during the mole hunt was set up so that if anything happened to him, the explosives would detonate. Luckily, the explosives were not wired up properly.
* DeadlyGas: The neurotoxic gas in the air vent system of XERRD establishments.
* DeadpanSnarker: Just about every character who does LampshadeHanging, especially [=Andrewnuva199=]'s characters, love to casually make snide remarks on the current situation.
* DeathByAdaptation:
** While he apparently lives in the original RPG, General Jim takes a CyanidePill in the Director's Cut.
** While she does not directly appear in the original RPG (or, at least, the archived material), L-Leviathan is killed by Kotua in the Director's Cut.
* DeathByGenreSavviness: A group of Alpha Team agents in a submarine hear a horrible noise. When the noise suddenly stops, one GenreSavvy agent remarks that this happens in movies when they're about to be attacked and destroyed. Nobody listens to the agent, and they are all quickly killed.
* DeathByOriginStory:
** Amadeus and Rosaria Remous, Alfred Jeeves, and Bricassius all kicked the bucket in Amanda's origin story.
** In the flashback serving as Trigger's origin story, Uærlig Sindstorme and Edward Korrupte, along with five of the seven people Schiess worked with.
** Isaac and Tod Fabello were both killed in Minerva and Oswald's origin story.
* DeathEqualsEmotion: [[spoiler:[[InvokedTrope Invoked]] in Dust's death. In his dying moments, he asked his teammates to tell Rockford that [[ItHasBeenAnHonor it was an honor]] to work with him and to send his apologies, something that Dust would never have requested in life.]]
* DeathEqualsRedemption:
** [[spoiler:Dust's]] teammates went from hating him for tricking them to trying in vain to save his life after he was fatally shot.
** Minerva finally [[{{Forgiveness}} forgave]] [[spoiler:Athena]] in the latter's dying moments.
* DeathFromAbove:
** Pretty much any combat action once Rotor gets involved. Of course this should hardly come as a surprise to anyone who's seen ''Film/ApocalypseNow'' and is familiar with Rotor's inspiration.
** Came in the form of fireballs in ''[[WhatIf December 21, 2010]]''.
* DeathIsDramatic: [[spoiler:Amanda Claw and Athena Fabello]] were both fatally shot, but still able to deliver heartwarming speeches to their loved ones before they died.
** In [[spoiler:Amanda's]] case, this was actually deliberately invoked. Originally, [=PeabodySam=] considered having her die immediately after being shot, with no parting speech. However, believing that this felt too much like [[DroppedABridgeOnHim Dropping a Bridge]] on such an important long-runner character, [=PeabodySam=] decided to opt for DeathIsDramatic instead.
* DeathMountain: To reach the Ogel Control Center, Rex and his team were forced to climb the perilous Ogel's Island volcano.
* DeathNotification:
** After J.D.'s death, Wade began writing several letters to J.D.'s family and his old friend Marco Martinet.
** Rex and Specs wrote a letter to Helen Rutherford informing her of the deaths of [[ArmyScout Scout]] and [[LadykillerInLove Spy]].
* DeathSeeker:
** Oswald Fabello started to become this as his insanity began to take hold. He even thanked Minerva for killing him.
** After [[spoiler:being [[DemonicPossession possessed by Baron Typhonus]]]], [[TragicVillain Dr. Rex]] made it his one goal to die as quickly as possible. [[spoiler:First, he unwillingly followed the Darkitect's orders, hoping that defeating Dino Attack Team would make Typhonus allow him to die. Then, when the Einstein Device was fired at him, Dr. Rex had an ObiWanMoment and did not attempt to dodge.]]
** After finding out that his mother died in the refugee facilities, [[spoiler:B]] decided that he had nothing to live for anymore.
* DeathlyDiesIrae:
** The first eight notes of ''Dies Irae, Dies Illa'' (courtesy of ''WesternAnimation/{{The Lion King|1994}}'') are heard in the "Divine Intervention" soundtrack mix, just before [[spoiler:the Darkitect subjects the dying Dr. Rex to a FateWorseThanDeath]].
** [[Film/JurassicPark "Incident on Isla Nublar"]], which repeatedly features the four notes of ''Dies Irae'', is used as the villainous Lord Sam Sinister von Barron's {{leitmotif}} in the Complete Soundtrack playlist. The "In The Maelstrom Temple" soundtrack mix uses this particular song in the scene where Lord Sinister brings the Maelstrom Crystal into the Maelstrom Temple, nearly dooming the entire world because of it.
** In the Complete Soundtrack platlist, [[Film/RevengeOfTheSith "Anakin's Betrayal"]] and its ''Dies Irae''-based melody is used for the scene where Rex reflects upon his fallen teammates.
* DecapitatedArmy: The death of Dr. Rex basically negated the threat of the Mutant Dino army. The weapon that took Dr. Rex's life also killed the majority of the Mutant Dinos, and [[spoiler:the death of Dr. Rex cut off Baron Typhonus, the one compelling the Mutant Dinos to be destructive in the first place, from the LEGO Planet for good]].
* DecapitationPresentation: Trigger presents the decapitated head of [[spoiler:Palmer]], declaring that it's the surefire way to kill Stromlings.
* DeclarationOfProtection: Used mutually between Rex and Amanda. A tragically ironic instance was when Rex said this to Amanda just before their Iron Predator was destroyed by a XERRD missile.
* DecompositeCharacter: In the Director's Cut, certain scenes or roles were given to different characters, including:
** Banchito's scenes are split between Bailey and Engineer.
** Toa Nuva Pohatu's role has been split between a Tiki Golem (which uses his stone attacks) and Thu (who speaks to Zero).
** Chupacabra's role as an evil mutant creature in the [=ShadowTech=] base was given to L-Leviathan and T-Fefnir instead, [[DemotedToExtra giving Chupacabra a much smaller role overall]].
** The deceased female Dino Attack agent that Pierce attempts to operate on during the final battle was explicitly [[spoiler:Amanda Claw]] in ''At War's End''. In the Director's Cut, she's an unnamed redshirt who happens to remind Pierce of Zenna.
** A character named "Mallory" briefly appears during Firecracker's final scene in ''At War's End''. Given that Firecracker is loosely inspired by John Mallory of ''Film/AFistfulOfDynamite'', it seems likely that this was simply an error on Atton Rand's part, with "Mallory" and Firecracker intended to be the same character. In the Director's Cut, Mallory is explicitly a separate character, and is the Dino Attack guard posted by Pharisee to watch over Firecracker and Snake.
* DeconReconSwitch: Placing the [[CloudCuckooLander zany]] paramedics [[VideoGame/LEGOIsland Enter and Return]] in the Dino Attack Hospital Wing, where more realistic doctors like Alan Pierce work, resulted in them constantly being called out on their questionable procedures that would never be allowed in a real hospital. However, this {{Deconstruction}} was ultimately [[{{Reconstruction}} Reconstructed]], as it turned out that Enter and Return's methods, however zany, are still proven to work quite effectively.
* DeepCoverAgent: [[spoiler:As Wallace Bishop, Frank Einstein was ''second-in-command'' of XERRD.]]
* DefectingForLove: Covert, who started as Magma's arch-nemesis and, after [[Toys/LEGOAlphaTeam Alpha Team]] and [[Toys/LEGOAgents Agents]] joined forces in the Dino Attack, ultimately fell in love with him.
* DefectorFromDecadence: Fed up with XERRD's actions throughout the Dino Attack, Dr. Gadd and Dr. Lee attempted to defect to Dino Attack Team during the final battle. However, they immediately learned that XERRD was calling a truce with Dino Attack Team, rendering their defection redundant.
* DefiantToTheEnd: [[spoiler:Adventure's]] last words were a big "''[[PardonMyKlingon ZNAP]] YOU!''" to [[SNKBoss Dr. Rex]].
* DelayedExplosion: The explosives that the Brickster set up throughout the Dino Island Laboratory did not detonate until a few seconds after he pushed the button on his remote.
* DelayedReaction: After killing the Golden Hunter, Agent X speaks to a few of the Golden Hunter's Mutant Dinos. It takes a few moments before X belatedly realizes he somehow SpeaksFluentAnimal now.
* DeliberateValuesDissonance: Many of the citizens of El Paso are incredibly sexist, a trait inspired by common views during the real Wild West (and pretty much everywhere else during that era).
* DemBones:
** Dino Attack agents turned into skeletons and reanimated by Skeleton Mummies.
** Captain Click and allied Skeleton Drones such as Septimus count as rare non-villain examples.
* {{Demonization}}: Realist agents are often depicted as overly aggressive or sometimes even downright evil, especially by Atton Rand. It does not help that Kotua, Cam O'Cozy, and Rotor are some of the most well-known examples of realist agents (although Kotua went insane and O'Cozy was just a ploy). Thankfully, there are a number of exceptions such as Tail and Tracer, who are likeable realist characters.
* DemotedToExtra:
** Atton Rand introduced a number of [=NPCs=] during the Adventurers' Island story arc, resulting in his own primary character being taken out of focus in favor of stories focusing on the various medics and Kate's efforts to fit in with the team.
** While technically they do have a significant part in the story, the four official members of the Dino Attack Team have barely appeared in the RPG.
** Libo, who once appeared frequently in the ''Dino Attack RPG'', has barely been seen or mentioned, especially following the idealist-realist debate. He was finally revealed to have had a [[DroppedABridgeOnHim Bridge Dropped on Him]] (literally).
* DependingOnTheWriter:
** Rex is notably more stern and serious when written by Chronicler of Ko-Koro or Brikman [=McStudz=].
** The mood of the RPG can shift from post to post, from dark and serious to goofy and light-hearted. For example, after LEGO Island entered the Torn World, [[MoodWhiplash the mood shifted between Andrew's despair over the destruction of his hometown and the comic relief antics of Enter and Return]].
** Small details will often vary from post to post due to different players interpreting things differently. A good example of this would be in the weapons used. [=PeabodySam=] often talks about the characters using "Sonic Screamers" whilst many of Atton Rand's posts describe them to be using standard issue rifles and other conventional weaponry.
** When [=PeabodySam=] writes Stromlings, they are nothing more than weak CannonFodder. When Brikman [=McStudz=] writes Stromlings, they range from mindless minions to cunning, intelligent, and ruthless. When Atton Rand writes Stromlings, they are an elusive monster that seeks to assimilate other life forms in a [[Franchise/StarTrek Borg]] or [[Film/TheThing1982 Thing]]-esque manner, and frequently manipulate people against each other by fueling their paranoia.
*** Similarly, Atton Rand's interpretation of the Maelstrom is far more Lovecraftian than what [=NetDevil=] probably intended.
** When Atton Rand writes Heavy, he depicts Heavy as absolutely obsessed with [[EverythingsSatiatingWithSandwiches sandwiches]]. When [=PeabodySam=] writes Heavy, he instead focuses on Heavy's relationship with Medic.
** From the perspective of [=Andrewnuva199=]'s posts during the final battle, the general outlook on Dino Attack Team's progress in the battle was fairly optimistic. However, things looked much bleaker from the points of view of [=PeabodySam=] and [=TakunuvaC01=].
** A rather noteworthy example is how the post-war world is handled, as most writers believe that a world BuiltWithLEGO will rebuild fairly quickly while Atton Rand wanted a more realistic depiction of a post-war apocalyptic society. This is visible in even minor details; in a post by [=PeabodySam=], Bartholomew Enderson remarked how quickly LEGO City was being rebuilt, and then in a following post by Atton Rand, Carrie Enderson noticed how slowly the construction crews were working.
** Literally every player has their own style. For instance [=PeabodySam=], Brikman [=McStudz=] and Andrewnuva very clearly try to play up the LEGO-based elements in the style of classic LEGO video games. For instance they'll often make explicit reference to actual LEGO pieces (i.e. "And then he grabbed a 2x4 brick"). imperial officer, Atton Rand, and that guy from that show, on the other hand, both tend to downplay the LEGO elements as much as possible, and focus more on creating a more realistic world.
* DerivativeDifferentiation: ''Dino Attack RPG'' started off as a near-clone of ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG'' recycled in Toys/LEGODinoAttack, but eventually adopted its own unique style starting with the introduction of the StoryArc formula.
* DescriptivelyNamedSpecies: Dino Aliens. Reptile did not know their true name and, when writing about them in the Dino Attack Database, nicknamed them after their appearance and tactics.
* DespairEventHorizon:
** [[TragicVillain Dr. Rex]] finally crossed this line after [[spoiler:Katerina renounced him as her brother.]]
** Oswald Fabello finally lost all hope upon realizing [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus was controlling the Maelstrom]] and no matter his plan, both he and his sister would die.
** Rex crossed this line after the death of [[spoiler:Amanda]], as most evidenced by his AntiHero personality and lust for revenge after recovering from his HeroicBSOD.
* DestinationDefenestration: Ogel had a [[RunningGag bad habit]] of doing this to his drones.
* DetachmentCombat:
** As an undead skeleton, Captain Click is able to fight with disembodied limbs.
** Apparently, according to the comm chatter, one of the Flying Legondos participated in the final battle and used this ability, since they were known to pop off their body parts at will during their acrobatic feats in ''VideoGame/LEGOIsland''.
* DeusAngstMachina: [[spoiler:Dr. Rex [[DivineIntervention gets back up]], Adventure performs a heroic sacrifice, his [[TankGoodness Iron Predator]] is destroyed, Amanda is murdered, and Trouble is BackForTheDead...]] [[{{Understatement}} Rex hasn't been having a good day.]]
* DeusExMachina: There are many examples, but here are a few notable ones:
** The exact nature of the mysterious voice that Frozeen heard upon death is unclear, but it originated from ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG'' as a DeusExMachina created by Kotua in Space to restore Kotua's Minifig body through death and revival. It was again used as a Deus Ex Machina to restore Frozeen's Minifig body, and its true nature has not been revealed beyond that which Kotua in Space created (aside from a NeverHeardThatOneBefore moment). Aside from this one example (which was in fact intended to strip Frozeen of his G.E. Body and thus reduce his strength), [=PeabodySam=] does not wish to have this feature reappear in ''Dino Attack RPG'', especially due to its ability to be easily abused (Databoard and Kotua were frequently revived as such in the ''Alpha Team RPG'').
*** Given the context, the mysterious voice might very well be a literal case of DeusExMachina.
*** Spoofed by Atton Rand. When [[spoiler:Trigger]] died, the voice retorted by saying it had to take somebody, and claimed to have revived Databoard "like fifty times".
** When the Dino Attack Team arrived at the base of the Ogel's Island [[DeathMountain volcano]], they had no means of ascending the mountainside. Quite conveniently, Reptile's T-1 Typhoon crash-landed into the volcano and dropped off some climbing gear.
** Although set up and foreshadowed several posts before it arrived, the stampeding Triceratops herd that ended the battle for the Aztec Village was [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] as a DeusExMachina. Interestingly, unlike most examples of Lampshading, this was not played for laughs but for drama, since Rex realized that relying on a Deus Ex Machina to save the day is a poor strategy that could easily backfire.
** [[DefiedTrope Defied]], in that Rex's plan to travel to the Temple of Creation is in response to all the DeusExMachina examples of the past, intending to avert yet another Deus Ex Machina saving the day. Unfortunately, due to the UnspokenPlanGuarantee, Rex was punished for defying Deus Ex Machina.
* DeusExScuseMe:
** When Rex and Chompy were captured and held in the Dino Island Laboratory, Dr. Rex was conveniently brought out of the room to interrogate another batch of prisoners, giving them their opportunity to break free. Then, said batch of prisoners were also able to escape when Dr. Rex was, again, conveniently led away by Libo in disguise.
** Amanda's search for "Gun" left Rex alone in the headquarters lobby, allowing the Second Headquarters Squad to rush in and drag him into their [[TheMole mole]] hunt without Amanda's intervention.
** Numerous times, Ben Gunn conveniently exits the scene just before Frozeen enters, preventing readers from ever confirming that one theory regarding Ben Gunn's true identity.
* DeviousDaggers:
** Dust is a master knife fighter, having killed five [=TumTum=] natives with just a knife. It fits his characterization as sly, cunning, and devious.
** Ata was raised to become a shinobi, and the knife appeared to be his weapon of choice since it was what he used in battle against the corrupted Master Yogen. In the Dino Attack, he used the knife a lot when he [[spoiler:murdered most of the Second Headquarters Squad]], during which time he was certainly putting his old skills as a stealthy infiltrator to good use.
** The ProfessionalKiller Silencia Venomosa's weapon of choice is the knife, which she prefers for being able to silently kill her targets. Although she tried to distance it from herself after becoming Amanda Claw, old habits die hard and she soon found herself using it again, hinting at her being a darker PragmaticHero compared to her IdealHero boyfriend Rex.
** During her infiltration of Fort Legoredo, Maria killed Hybrids with a knife in order to keep silent and avoid raising an alarm.
** In keeping with [[VideoGame/TeamFortress2 his inspiration]], Spy's weapon of choice is a knife, which he uses to cleanly and quietly kill his foes during stealthy infiltration missions.
* DiabolusExMachina:
** While not actually the end of the story, the conclusion to the LEGO Island StoryArc was a fairly joyous moment (at least from the point of view of those in the Torn World, who didn't know what was happening outside- for others it would have been more of a BittersweetEnding). They finally got out of the Torn World, LEGO Island is restored, and the Brickspider Bot is gone for good. Then all of a sudden the hybrids turned against the team and things got pretty dark.
** Andrew's "dark conciousness" reappearing virtually out of nowhere during his and Minerva's encounter with Zach didn't exactly help matters. At least it proved a minor obstacle.
** Things were looking pretty optimistic during the final battle after Dr. Rex's defeat... [[spoiler:and then he got [[DemonicPossession possessed by the Maelstrom]], and it all went downhill from there.]]
** Hertz and Naomi had a pretty happy ending. [[spoiler:And then everything went downhill for them in the teaser for [[Toys/LEGODino Dino 2012]].]]
* DidNotDoTheBloodyResearch:
** "Bloody" was frequently used as a curse word, since it was not censored by the word filter and most of ''Dino Attack RPG'''s players live in North America, where the word is not particularly offensive. When ''Dino Attack RPG'' actually had a player from the United Kingdom, imperial officer, "bloody" could no longer be used because he took offense to the word.
** This did not stop Sniper from saying "bloody" as a curse word later on. In fact, during the mission brief that he was assigned to Second Headquarters Squad, Sniper referred to the Hybrids as "buggers", which is a seemingly innocent word in North America with a much more offensive meaning elsewhere in the world.
** French Fries also referred to Mutant Lizards as "buggers".
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu:
** Pterisa struck [[spoiler:the Darkitect]] in the chest with a bolt of lightning. It barely hurt him, but the fact that he was actually hit by another being who was turning his own powers against him was a huge insult to him. The good news is that it broke his concentration long enough for Rex and Hotwire to realize that they were fighting illusions. The bad news is that Pterisa [[BrokeYourArmPunchingOutCthulhu Broke Her Arm Flipping Off Cthulhu]].
** This trope applies to anyone, such as Pointman or Semick, who attacked [[SNKBoss Dr. Rex]] after [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus's DivineIntervention]].
* DiedInYourArmsTonight: Ingrid Tromsø in Solomon Koplowitz's arms, and [[spoiler:Amanda Claw]] in Rex's arms.
* DinosaursAreDragons: Literally with Tex, who is a hybrid between a Mutant T-Rex and a dragon. Additionally, her brother Crunchbite was inspired by the Kardas Dragon.
* DirectLineToTheAuthor: A writer named Samuel Piaker interviewed Dino Attack veterans so he could write a novel based on the Dino Attack.
* DirtyCoward:
** Walter Breen, who was willing to use Kate Bishop as a HumanShield to make his escape from the Maelstrom Temple.
** Trigger. For someone who takes his jobs so seriously that anyone who interferes must die, Trigger has no problem walking out on his most important job of all time and deserting the Dino Attack Team... ''during the final battle''... and tries to justify it as the money not being worth it.
* DisappearedDad: Zachary Abody is Frozeen's disappeared adoptive father.
* DisasterDodgingDog: Despite Sereve's entire house getting flattened during the Dino Attack, his dog Bailey somehow survived.
* DisconnectedByDeath: A few times over the comm chatter, a radio message is suddenly ended by the speaker's demise. This also notably happened with [[spoiler:Adventure]].
* DiscontinuityNod:
** Andrew and Laxus occasionally dismiss retconned information as faults of the "anybody can edit" system of the Dino Attack Database leading to a number of pranks.
** The comm chatter occasionally references the EarlyInstallmentWeirdness that has fallen into CanonDiscontinuity. For example, one person repeatedly insists that the ''Toys/{{BIONICLE}}'' references never happened and [[LetUsNeverSpeakOfThisAgain no one should ever speak of it]]. Another comment accuses his teammates of being children, referencing ''Dino Attack RPG'''s early problems with underage ChildSoldiers.
** As a reference to the Tower of Eight Trials in ''Love and War'', when Rex is unable to open the front door, he sarcastically wonders if solving a riddle will make it open. Guess how Rex and Zero had to enter the Tower of Eight Trials.
** Greybeard mispronounced Anubis's name as "Arubis" and got scolded for it, referencing a typo that [=PeabodySam=] made when first introducing Anubis.
** Tons of these pop up in ''The Madness of Agent Zero'', especially during Zero's interrogation and subsequent mad dash to the technology center. In addition to the non-canon elements of BZP Noob #30000's writings, it's shown that things such as Banchito and Hyrode's African viper form were among Zero's hallucinations.
** In the Director's Cut, Rex tries to intimidate Sam Sinister by describing Zero as a cyborg with earthquake powers, i.e. a Toa of Earth, which he was in the original RPG. Lord Sinister is completely unimpressed and calls Rex out on being a BadLiar.
** Vinnie's ''Disasters & Dinosaurs'' campaign has several jabs at the RPG's EarlyInstallmentWeirdness. Jessie is told that she shouldn't play as a seven-year-old, referencing the ill-fitting ChildSoldier primary characters from the early days. Nate and Mark suggest adding giant anime mechs and ancient cyborgs to the campaign (in other words, "BIONICLE Meets Exo-Force RPG"), leading Trish to snarkily comment on how far the RPG strayed from its intended Dino Attack premise.
* DiscoveringYourOwnDeadBody: Kat was quite shaken when Cane showed her Katerina Schattenberg's grave.
* DisguisedHostageGambit: A variation. Several Dino Attack agents were already disguised as XERRD grunts in order to infiltrate the XERRD Fortress. Michelle Glados figured this out and teleported the disguised agents to the front lines, where she (correctly) predicted they'd be [[FriendOrFoe fired upon by their own teammates]].
* DiskOneFinalBoss: XERRD seemed to be nearly defeated in the Maelstrom Temple. Victory was nearly at hand... [[spoiler:and then [[TheManBehindTheMan Baron Typhonus]] showed up.]]
* DismantledMacGuffin: The Constructopedia, which had many missing pages gradually recovered by Dino Attack agents.
* DisneyDeath:
** Amanda Claw was last seen attacked by villains, and her torn up uniform was found outside a wrecked police station. Don't worry, Rex, she's alright... [[spoiler:''this time'', at least.]]
** Kat was shot in the neck and killed... or so we thought. Good thing she backed herself up on Hotwire's PDA.
* DisneyVillainDeath: Brickspider Bot v1.0, although [[SubvertedTrope subverted]] in that it was already dead before it fell.
* DisposablePilot: Fate and Lucky, the ironically-named pilots of the ''Renaissance''. They were both killed when it crashed while Hertz, who was merely a passenger, survived.
* DisproportionateRetribution:
** Rotor tried to make an example of a T-1 crew by having them executed because the pilot had refused an order to fire on the XERRD fortress while Dino Attack Agents were still inside.
** If Sarah's anythiing to go by, then apparently Walter ''pulled a gun'' on someone for stepping over the line during a bowling match.
** Edward Korrupte's response to Uærlig Sindstorme sending a team of mercenaries to steal some blueprints? Giving Venomosa permission to kill everyone.
** Pharisee's retribution could be considered disproportionate. It is actually intentional so he can make a statement and provide a warning to others.
* DistaffCounterpart:
** Cabin is basically a female, slightly less aggressive version of Rotor.
** Teri is intended to be one for Barry Jackson.
** Bartholomew Enderson's sister Carrie Enderson, who also happens to be a successful [[TheBartender bartender]], and they both happen to be secret-keepers to two rival mercenaries.
** Blaire Darkling could be seen as a DistaffCounterpart to Amanda Remous in a sense that they were both infamous terrorists/assassins who both attempted to redeem themselves of their crimes.
%%* DistinguishedGentlemansPipe: Angel Eyes.
* TheDitz: In keeping with [[Series/{{Blackadder}} his inspiration]], Baldrick is this to the extreme. Where to begin? His "escape kit" contains some of the most useless items imaginable (such as a small painted wooden duck in the event of being caught near a lake, so that the escapee can balance it on their head). He thought a serious message trying to alert agents of the imminent execution of the ''very people he just pathetically tried to help escape'' was in fact a hilarious joke, offered a just-released prisoner the "escape kit" ''right in front of a space police officer'', then walked up to the man who tried to spread the warning to tell him how much he loved his "joke".
* DitzyGenius: Naomi Carver was originally introduced as TheDitz, and indeed this was Hertz's first impression of her. Later, however, Hertz commented on Naomi's intelligence.
* DivineIntervention: [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus saved Dr. Rex from death... [[FateWorseThanDeath in about the cruelest and most agonizing manner possible]].]]
* DoNotGoGentle:
** With their Fire Hammers destroyed and an endless number of Mutant Dinos surrounding them, this trope became the primary motivation for Greybeard and King Joseph Race during the final battle. [[spoiler:Although Greybeard [[SubvertedTrope survived]], King Race played it straight.]]
** [[spoiler:B, Sucker, Knuckles, Crooks, and Rookie]] died in a battle against bandits, which ended with StuffBlowingUp.
* DoesNotLikeSpam: Sarah Bishop does ''not'' like Brickolini's pizza. [[ItRunsInTheFamily It even runs in the family]], as it turns out her daughter can't stand it either.
* DolledUpInstallment: When ''Dino Attack RPG'' first began, it was basically ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG'' [[RecycledInSpace in a Dino Attack setting]]. Much of the original expository post was copied from the ''Alpha Team RPG'', and many members of that time were originally members of the ''Alpha Team RPG''.
* DontAsk: You probably don't want to know the reason why Amanda knows not to hide dead or unconscious bodies in utility closets.
* DontMakeMeDestroyYou: After Talia Kaahs calls out Dr. Rex on his hypocricy, Dr. Rex (who moments earlier was trying to appeal to Talia) warns her not to give him a reason to kill her.
* DontSneakUpOnMeLikeThat: Sam Race was easily startled by Greybeard after the final battle, one of several hints pointing towards PTSD being a long-term effect of the Dino Attack for Race.
* DontYouDarePityMe:
** Minerva did not want Zach to feel sorry for her because of her past.
** Rex's response to anyone who feels sorry for him because of [[spoiler:Amanda's death]].
* DonutMessWithACop: Elizabeth once managed to get rid of a cop who was trying to stop her from hijacking a ship in LEGO City's harbor by [[RunningGag telling him the tavern was offering free donuts]].
* DoomMagnet: Rex, during the final battle. [[spoiler:To elaborate, his attempt to defeat Dr. Rex only made things worse and caused the death of Adventure, and shortly afterward Rex's wife Amanda and close friend Trouble were both killed.]]
* {{Doppelmerger}}: The Chaos working with Kotua is revealed to be a synthetic copy created by ShadowTech, who manipulates Kotua into freeing the real Chaos from its Mayan prison. After the two Chaoses briefly work together, they willingly merge into a single entity known as Alpha Chaos.
* DoubleBlindWhatIf: In Timeline 1958-D, Talia Kaahs never missed her wedding. That did not stop her from wondering what would have happened if "Sydney" had not been there to give her a ride home.
* DoubleMeaningTitle:
** The title of ''Antithesis'' has two meanings. On one hand, it refers specifically to Anti-Amanda Remous, the {{Foil}} and MirrorSelf of Silencia Venomosa. On the other hand, the story can be read as an essay on the ANTI project... essentially, an "ANTI thesis".
** The TitleDrop in ''Because Of You'' is referring to Ronald Alexander: because he abducted Talia Kaahs and ruined her life, the story's events are set into motion. However, [=PeabodySam=] also considers the title to refer to Talia herself: because of her actions on November 5, 1958, she is directly responsible for three very different {{Alternate Timeline}}s. This is alluded to in the third chapter, when Talia realizes that everything that will happen in the alternate timeline is because of her.
* DoubleWeapon: Blaire's modified Shinobi katanas.
* DownerEnding:
** ''[[WhatIf December 21, 2010]]''.
** One of Atton Rand's final posts revealed Rotor to be a miserable alcaholic in the aftermath of the war, unable to adjust to modern society and finding his relationship with Cabin rapidly deteriorating.
* DreamCrushingHandicap:
** Played with. Rex got paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair, yet somehow he's still allowed to go on the front lines during a combat mission which largely takes place in a jungle. However, that has not stopped other Dino Attack agents from suggesting that he stays away from the front lines and even earned some HypocriticalHumor from [[EvilCripple Zed Provhezor]]. Also, as a result of his situation, Amanda Claw refuses to leave Rex's side.
** Hotwire referenced Rex's paralysis as justification for also remaining on the front lines even though his left leg now ends just after the knee.
* TheDragon:
** General Evil to Evil Ogel. While they are both very intelligent, Ogel was the mastermind while General Evil was the muscle.
** Loop to Cane, though this was only revealed posthumously.
** CoDragons: Stromling!Zachary and Ahua, who were answering to [[spoiler:the Darkitect]].
* DragonRider: Formerly Raptor, who rode the dragon Valencia. Played with by Fullmetal, who rides the dragon-dinosaur hybrid Tex.
* DramaticChaseOpening: ''Love and War'' opens with an intense chase scene, with Rex, Zero, and Phantom driving a Fire Hammer while Perfect Chaos is in hot pursuit. It serves to quickly refresh the readers on the current story and characters.
* DramaticGunCock: Ronald E. Army did one of these after [[spoiler:killing Spy]] with his shotgun.
* DramaticIrony:
** Wade was forced to perform a mercy kill on J.D. by giving him a morphine overdose. His ''Film/SavingPrivateRyan'' namesake was also involved in a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BX0sYXFJwhA very similar scene]], except ''he'' was the one who was fatally wounded.
** A group of Dino Attack agents stationed in Antarctica, after expressing worry about the riots in the refugee facilities, heard the sound of thunder and thought nothing of it. The thunder was the result of Vladek trying to get the attention of the Antarctica refugees so Greybeard could end the riots.
** After [[spoiler:Amanda's death]], Frozeen, Greybeard, and Sam Race were listening to the comm chatter and heard someone say that [[spoiler:Rex was down, but heard nothing about Amanda]]. They incorrectly deduced that [[spoiler:Amanda survived and Rex was killed]].
** In Scott's interview of Dr. Cyborg, Dr. Cyborg wanted Contest to know that he was alright. Readers would know that Contest [[spoiler:perished in the final battle]].
* DramaticThunder: A thunderstorm dramatically rolls in as the FinalBattle begins.
* DramaticWind: After she killed Sir Robert Batrick, it was said that [[WickedWitch Willa the Witch's]] cape was billowing in the wind... [[LampshadeHanging except it was also mentioned that it was indoors and there was no wind]], implying that the cape was billowing by [[AWizardDidIt magical means]].
* DreamingOfThingsToCome:
** Rev Raptor has a nightmare about himself as a mutant hybrid fighting against Dino Attack Team. At first, he dismisses it as just a dream, but then Landro (who looks identical to his mutated dream-self) shows up, and Rev realizes that Landro is his father Jecht. It's even more literal in the original RPG, since Rev was destined to become a mutant villain like Landro, and he asks Banchito to kill him so the dream does not come true.
** Oddly [[SubvertedTrope subverted]] with Andrew, who had dreams about being mutated and yet ultimately managed to overcome them. Although it is played straight subtley, in regards to comments in his dreams about taking interest in [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic small, oddly-colored horses]]...
* DressingAsTheEnemy: An infiltration squad, as well as Zachary, dressed up as XERRD scientists and guards while sneaking through the XERRD Fortress.
* DrillTank: Ogel Drilling Vehicles and Thunder Drillers are massive mining vehicles equipped with a large drill on the front.
* TheDriver: Montoya. In the flashback it's implied he is the designated driver for the team (although the others seemed to be capable of driving when neccessary), as he is the one entrusted with driving a stolen Dact Corporation truck to the headquarters of Mindstorms, Inc. (and later making it look like a nasty roadside accident), and later goes on to become the getaway driver during the less than successful heist.
* DrowningMySorrows:
** Athena Fabello took up drinking after the death of Isacc Fabello.
** Grisbarba L. Pirata got quite drunk at the tavern after his violent break-up with "Bad Luck" Beatrice.
* DrunkenMaster: Greybeard and Demoman are both usually drinking plenty of alcohol, but it does not diminish their effectiveness in battle.
* TheDrunkenSailor: Given the nature of where they're from, the various {{pirates}} on the team are all known to enjoy drinking bottles of rum.
* DualBoss:
** Zach's fight against both Michelle Glados and Carolyne Provencal in the Maelstrom Temple.
** Dr. Rex and Cyrista's Bane could be seen as Dual Bosses of the final battle.
* DualWielding:
** Kareem Nazareno, Zelda Frodongan, and Blaire Darkling wield two katanas each.
** Señor Palomar wielded two pistols during the Maelstrom Temple battle.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: Andrew "Pyro" Jackson felt this way during the final battle. After helping the Dino Attack Team retake LEGO Island and Gold City, he is rewarded by his teammates telling him to shut up and put some clothes on. Given that he was running around in his underwear and shouting loudly into the radio, [[SweetPollyOliver while his daughter was posing as him]] so no one recognized him as agent Pyro.
* DumbMuscle: Heavy.
* DwindlingParty:
** Happened in two intersecting (but mostly unrelated) segments, both of the "hunted" variety- The Second Headquarters Squad being picked off one by one by [[spoiler:[[TheMole Ata]]]] until only [[spoiler:Pyro and Demoman]] were left, and also in the Trigger/Silencia flashback, where a seven man-team of criminals (eight-people depending on whether you include Silencia herself) are picked off one-by-one following Silencia's double-crossings until only two remained. The latter arguably continued into the present day, too, [[spoiler:with Silencia and Trigger's deaths leaving Montoya as the sole survivor.]]
** On a related note, Atton Rand does somewhat regret not using this with his "Stromling paranoia" sub-plot with the crew of Outpost 4, with the already paranoid cast getting picked off one by one trying to figure out who's a Stromling.
* DyingAlone: As punishment for all that he had done, Rex's intended fate for Dr. Rex was to rob him of the dignity of dying with others around him. [[spoiler:Unfortunately, Baron Typhonus just had to step in with his DivineIntervention and prevent this from coming to fruition.]]
* DyingDream: [[AmbiguousSituation Maybe?]] [=PeabodySam=] declared that the only way [[spoiler:Trigger]]'s final scene (in which he ends up in a bizarre afterlife) would be considered canon was if it was just a hallucination that he experienced while he died.
* DyingMomentOfAwesome: With his dying breaths, [[spoiler:Trouble killed Michelle Glados]], and in doing so saved Rex's life and avenged his own death [[spoiler:as well as Amanda's death]]. A surefire awesome way for him to go.
* DyingDeclarationOfLove: [[spoiler:Nazareno]] gave one to [[spoiler:Zelda]] in his final moments.

[[folder:E]]
* EarlyAdaptationWeirdness: ''Dino Attack RPG'' began in July 2005 and was based on some early information of ''Toys/LEGODinoAttack''. Most notably, the ATV is named "Steel Sprinter" (as in various early catalogs and magazines) instead of "Street Sprinter", and the Dino Attack begins in April (based on an early ''LEGO Brickmaster Magazine'' preview) instead of August-September (based upon a later ''LEGO Magazine'' comic). Since the online story materials were not yet available, the Mutant Dinos were initially depicted without any special powers, and Shadow (instead of Specs) was initially assumed to be Dino Attack Team's leader.
* EarlyInstallmentCharacterDesignDifference: In the original version of ''Dino Attack: Legacy'', Dr. Rex had stubble and a facial scar just like Rex; Trouble looked indistinguishable from other Mutant Lizards since he didn't have any scars; and Finister and Frickster both looked about the same age as their present-day selves. These were updated in the GeorgeLucasAlteredVersion to reflect updates to character designs made since the original animation.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness:
** It can seem strange reading Atton Rand's early posts, which at best were a rough summary of what was happening, full of contrived coincidences and artistic license in medicine (with his characters repeatedly suffering absurd injuries and recovering quickly) along with his three characters- Zenna, Axle, and Elizabeth- compared to his numerous [=NPCs=] now. Also his depiction in the LEGO Island arc of a very clear cut "[[{{Demonization}} realists are evil]]" ideology is noticeably different from his more recent posts, which are more morally gray and tend to be somewhat grounded in reality whenever possible.
** Just read some of [=PeabodySam=]'s early posts and try not to get weirded out. Most notably, the whole plot twist about a Mutant T-Rex being disguised as a Minifig. No wonder he later {{retcon}}ned so much of it.
** Also, it's amusing to mention that, compared to how much DarkerAndEdgier the RPG currently is, many of [=PeabodySam=]'s early posts were very... childish. For example, the harshest insult that Fogel could come up with for Amanda Claw is "[[BigStupidDoodooHead Mrs. Dumb-Mouth]]".[[note]]Although, given that "dumb" has multiple meanings, this could have potentially been a somewhat-clever insult... if that was how [=PeabodySam=] originally intended it.[[/note]]
** Heck, just read the early ''Dino Attack RPG'' in general. Minifigs turning into [[Toys/{{BIONICLE}} Toa]]? A villain from ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog''? Rahaga in [[Toys/LEGOExoForce Exo-Force Mechs]]? EarlyInstallmentWeirdness indeed.
** Not exempt from some of the later posts. [[FauxShadow Andrew's "dark conciousness", anybody]]?
* EarnYourHappyEnding: Just about every characters went through the death of loved ones, injuries, loss, hopelessness, and more before finally defeating [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus]] and ending the Dino Attack war.
* EarthIsABattlefield: Mutant Dinos have destroyed most of the world with the exception of Antarctica, and even then an invasion was attempted, although some of the damage has been repaired recently.
** Noteworthy though is that battles are rarely shown to take place in any locations outside those exclusive to LEGO Canon. One wonders of the untold adventures of Dino Attack fighting in Tokyo, New York, London, Belgium, Billund...
* EarthShatteringKaboom: The ending of the WhatIf story ''December 21, 2010'', in which the Maelstrom succeeds in destroying the LEGO Planet.
* ElaborateUndergroundBase: The Goo Caverns are an extensive tunnel network filled with Evil OGEL Empire mining facilities and outposts.
* ElegantWeaponForAMoreCivilizedAge: Solomon views katanas this way but will not hesitate to use a gun when necessary.
* EldritchAbomination: The Maelstrom as some have interpreted in the RPG has swung in this direction a few times, particularly with Atton Rand's posts.
* EldritchLocation:
** The Torn World is a bizarre pocket dimension where LEGO bricks float endlessly in a starry void but minifigures are still subject to gravity.
** The Maelstrom Temple, to a degree, since the Maelstrom has warped its interior to make it a non-euclidean maze that's extremely difficult to navigate. Trigger even goes so far as to compare it to another dimension serving as the Maelstrom's sandbox.
* ElectricTorture: This is how Little Bot was tortured in Villains Headquarters.
* EliteFour:
** During the penultimate StoryArc, XERRD was primarily represented by four of the organization's highest-ranking scientists: Wallace Bishop, Michelle Glados, Walter Breen, and Zed Provhezor.
** There were also four main villains in the final battle: Dr. Rex, Dr. Inferno, Willa the Witch, and [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus]].
* EliteMooks: Minifig/Mutant Lizard Hybrids, while not necessarily as strong or deadly as other Mutant Dinos, act as the elite mooks of XERRD due to combining mutant abilities with cunning human intelligence.
* EmbarrassingNickname: Ronald E. Army, whose nickname "Soldier" is actually an insult to his status as a sergeant.
* EmphasizeEverything: Blaire Darkling intentionally speaks like this, often emphasizing random words with little relevance.
* EmptyEyes: Most Mutant Dinos and Quasifigus Hybrids have blank white eyes.
* EndingMemorialService:
** One of the last events to take place on Adventurers' island was the memorial for [[spoiler:Dust]].
** And then at the end of the RPG, funerals were held for [[spoiler:Nazareno, Athena and Oswald Fabello, and Winston and Mathias Grendelwulf.]] Additionally, Frozeen and Shannon were making plans for [[spoiler:Rex, Amanda, and]] Roger's memorial services.
* EnemyMine:
** Evil Ogel, Lord Vladek, Lord Sinister, and the Brickster allied with the Dino Attack Team to ensure the defeat of XERRD.
** A slightly less intense version occurred after the mutant dinos had overrun the team's camp on Adventurers' Island. A group made up of three men who fled into the jungle turned out to be Rotor (who at the time had gained a significant amount of distrust after court-martialling and trying to execute an agent), George (the man who Rotor had tried to have executed), and Commander Johnson (the man sent to apprehend Rotor for his attempt to execute George), and they now had to work together after getting lost. Of course the tension was lowered once they were joined by Lance and Cabin.
** Clint Wayne and Angel Eyes were old rivals in Gold City before teaming up in the Dino Attack.
* EnergyWeapon: Mutant T-Rexes have [[EyeBeams laser vision]].
* EnforcedMethodActing: In-universe example. Trigger initially did not tell Carrie that the gun he had pressed to her head was loaded with blanks because he wanted a genuine reaction. Later he relented and just asked Carrie to play along.
* EnsembleCast: The ''Dino Attack RPG'' has no single main protagonist.
* EpunymousTitle:
** ''For Want of Nails'' is a punny title that refers to elite agent Nails (a major character in the short story) and the poem "For Want of a Nail" (the premise of the short story).
** The downloadable archive and Director's Cut have punny chapter titles referring to major characters, including "Looking for Trouble", "Ground Zero", "Dust Before the Wind", "Trading Bishops", and "Trigger Warning".
** The title ''Because Of You'' was actually derived from ''Be Kaahs Of You'', a pun referring to its protagonist Talia Kaahs. [[EveryoneHasStandards Even PeabodySam thought this pun was too lame to use]].
* EurekaMoment: When Frozeen said that he was ''shocked'' by the news of Ogel's ([[ActuallyADoombot apparent]]) demise, Rex realized that [[ShockAndAwe electricity]] was [[AttackItsWeakPoint key to defeating Dr. Rex]].
* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas: [[AvertedTrope Averted]] with Oswald Fabello, who absolutely hates his mother for what she did to him and his siblings. [[spoiler:After losing all hope and realizing there is nothing left to lose, he shot and killed her.]]
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes:
** Although he has not shown true affection towards Kate, Wallace Bishop went out of his way to ensure that Dr. Strangebrick did not harm her. [[spoiler:Of course, given what we later learn about [[TheMole "Wallace Bishop"]], this trope isn't actually played as straight as it first seemed.]]
** Dr. Strangebrick was very close to his daughter Jenny, seeing as he personally tutored her in the ways of science and had a close friendship with her as his lab assistant.
** Though Oswald is extremely conflicted, half of him wanted to save his sister from being killed by Mutant Dinos by having her join XERRD.
** Despite all that he went through, Dr. Rex still had BigBrotherInstinct towards Katerina Schattenberg, even up until the final battle. [[spoiler:However, between Katerina renouncing him and [[TheManBehindTheMan Baron Typhonus]] goading him, the absolute obliteration of his Big Brother Instinct is what absolutely left Dr. Rex past the point of redemption.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards:
** Señor Palomar has his Spanish Honor.
** Several high-ranking XERRD scientists, most notably Dr. Breen and Dr. Bishop, seemed opposed to the idea of abandoning XERRD Fortress and leaving the lower-ranking scientists for death.
** Dr. Strangebrick is more than willing to help XERRD take control of the Maelstrom, but when he's betrayed by his superiors that's where he draws the line.
** Evil Ogel, whose minions are literally zombies, expressed disgust at the concept of the Quasifigus Hybrids.
* EverybodyDiesEnding:
** ''[[WhatIf December 21, 2010]]'' ended with ''the entire world'' blowing up, and an explicit description saying that none of the six main characters survived. It's made more heartbreaking by the references to some of the most likable characters having died long before, meaning this small group of people were the only ones left. While it was established that Minifig life exists on other planets, the destruction of their home world and largest population would be harsh blow to Minifigkind and a major victory for the Maelstrom, which would have spread to the LEGO System and began destroying other worlds such as [[Toys/LEGOLifeOnMars Mars]] and [[Toys/LEGOSpace Ice Planet 2002]].
** Benton Kabrinsky's last post ended with [[spoiler:his entire cast dying in one swift blow]].
* EverybodyIsSingle: For the most part, everyone was single upon joining the Dino Attack Team. [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] with Helm, who has a wife and son; Spy, who had a wife and multiple children; and Wright and Shiller, who were dating prior to the Dino Attack. Also Sarah Bishop and Elizabeth Winsor ''had'' been in relationships prior.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep:
** TheBartender in Greybeard's flashback/dream sequence.
** Helmie was simply referred to as "the barge helmsman" during the beginning of the Goo Caverns story arc.
* EveryoneIsRelated: Katerina Schattenberg is the aunt of Cane and the biological sister of Dr. Rex, who switched bodies with Rex, who is the brother of Chompy, who is the offspring of the alpha female T-Rex and was adopted by Frozeen, who was created by the Brickster and is the adopted son of Dr. Zachary Abody, who used to work with Dr. Rex and General, who is Evil Ogel's brother... ''[[YiddishAsASecondLanguage Oy vey]]''.
* EveryoneIsASuspect: They did say that ''anyone ''could be TheMole, and it's notable to say that Specs and Amanda Claw were both top suspects for a time.
* EveryoneWentToSchoolTogether: Dr. Rex, Zachary Abody, and General; Dr. Cyborg, Catless, Charon, and Crystal; Frozeen and Gromtin; and Hotwire and Shiller.
* EverythingSoundsMenacingInGerman: Probably the reason why [[MadDoctor Medic]] and [[EvilGenius Zed Provhezor]] have stereotypical East European [[FunetikAksent Funetik Aksents]], why one unnamed XERRD scientist [[GratuitousGerman only speaks German]], and why the surnames Schattenberg and Dunkelheit are German-based.
* EverythingsBetterWithSamurai: ''Quasifigus lacertilia'' and Pterisa wear gratuitous samurai armor, while Solomon Koplowitz is actually a samurai.
* EverythingsDeaderWithZombies: While a ZombieApocalypse would normally be par for the course in this genre, the zombie-like Stromlings showing up in a Mutant Dino Apocalypse makes for a surprising twist.
* EverythingsSatiatingWithSandwiches: Heavy [[TrademarkFavoriteFood really likes sandwiches]]. He ''really'' likes them.
* EvilCanNotComprehendGood: While Dust was not evil, he could not understand the selflessness exhibited by the rest of the team.
* EvilCounterpart: In an example of EvilVersusEvil, three of the LEGO villains who allied with Dino Attack Team (Evil Ogel, Sam Sinister, and Lord Vladek) had counterparts who allied with XERRD (Dr. Inferno, Senor Palomar, and Willa the Witch).
* EvilDetectingDog: In ''Antithesis'', when Silencia Venomosa was trying to find a way into Anti-Amanda's house to murder her, a stray cat (who was being fed and taken care of by Anti-Amanda) hissed at her, apparently recognizing that she was not Anti-Amanda despite looking nearly identical to her.
* EvilEvolves: An InformedAbility of Mutant Lizards is their ability to adapt, making it difficult to defeat Mutant Lizards with the same battle strategy twice. Additionally, various breeds of Mutant Dinosaurs adapted to the cold arctic climate of Antarctica.
* EvilIsNotAToy:
** [[SarcasmMode Go ahead, Dr. Rex. Just inject yourself with trace amounts of a dark and malicious force known to destroy the universe. It's most certainly not going to come back to bite you...]]
** [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] at the last minute by Andrew abruptly having second thoughts on being able to use the Maelstrom for his own purposes.
* EvilKnockoff: [=ShadowTech=]'s vehicles are the same as Dino Attack's, only painted black.
* EvilSmellsBad: Natural dinosaurs like Chompy, who have a more sensitive sense of smell than humans, describe Mutant Dinos as having a horrible stench. They can pick up that same stench on Stromlings or in Maelstrom-infected areas.
* EvilVersusEvil:
** The LEGO villains versus XERRD, with the villains even agreeing to ally with Dino Attack Team in order to save the world from XERRD.
** XERRD and [=ShadowTech=] both opposed the Maelstrom despite (or rather, due to) devoting their research to studying it.
** The Shadows battled against other villainous factions such as Beta Force and [=ShadowTech=], declaring that the Shadows need no allies.
* EvilVersusOblivion: Pretty much the justification for the above cases of EvilVersusEvil. For example, Ogel wishes to rule the world, while [[spoiler:[[OmnicidalManiac Baron Typhonus]] seeks to destroy it through XERRD]], prompting Ogel to ally with Dino Attack Team to help defeat the Maelstrom.
* TheEvilsOfFreeWill: Evil Ogel and General Evil's primary justification for being evil. They believe that mankind can only achieve peace through total control.
* ExactlyExtyYearsAgo: FUTURE arrived in the Dino Attack from the year 2035, which is 30 years after ''Dino Attack RPG'' began.
* ExitPursuedByABear: After Rex [[spoiler:broke free of the Darkitect's FaceYourFears illusion]], the Temple Stromling that had been antagonizing him was promptly killed by Stranger's Mutant Lizard.
* ExpandedUniverse: After the original RPG ended, its story, universe, and characters have been fleshed out in other media, primarily short stories such as ''First Assignment'', ''Ghosts'', and ''The Madness of Agent Zero''.
* ExpendableAlternateUniverse:
** Frozeen had no problem with blowing up FUTURE's time machine with a Panrahk XP, which is noted to have a 30 mile radius. Why? Because he was sending the time machine back to the alternate timeline, so the explosion would have no consequence in the primary timeline. At the very least, one can hope that the time machine was sent to FUTURE's headquarters, as opposed to a place full of civilians... However, this is addressed and defied in the Director's Cut, in which Frozeen justifies his actions by pointing out that leaving FUTURE alive will allow them to disrupt other timelines; therefore, while he is willing to send a Panrahk XP into Timeline 2010-A, he is doing so to ensure that no other timelines are left as "expendable".
** Discussed in ''Antithesis''. Howard Simmons has no problem sending Silencia Venomosa to kill numerous targets in the Antiverse without considering the consequences. Troy [=DeWitt=] believes that it is their moral duty to help the Antiverse, but Simmons dismisses this by saying that the Antiverse was just one of an infinite number of universes and therefore it did not matter. As of the Dino Attack, nothing has been done to help the Antiverse with their climate problems.
* ExploringTheEvilLair:
** Kate, Dust, and Zachary all made efforts to explore the XERRD fortress on their own (although the former had no real choice in the matter). Kate and Zachary were captured and Dust was discovered snooping around by Minerva.
** On two separate occasions in two separate XERRD establishments, Rex and Amanda Claw were part of groups that Explored the Evil Lair.
* ExplosionPropulsion: Rex blows up all of a T-1 Typhoon's weapons in order to propel it far enough that it will arrive at Ogel's Island shores.
* {{Expy}}:
** Much of Atton Rand's cast consists of [[{{Expy}} Expies]] of movie characters, though many of them manage to break off enough from their inspirations to become seperate individuals.
*** Frank Bowman is loosely inspired by [[Film/TwoThousandOneASpaceOdyssey Dave Bowman]].
*** The staff of Outpost 4 drew inspiration from characters in ''Film/TheThing1982''.
*** Now we've got a cast of Expies based on characters from ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer''... who were introduced solely because of a character named Giles (who wasn't even related to the show, but rather named after the character from ''Theatre/TheCrucible'').
** As a friendly raptor partner who follows Demoman around, See the "prototype" Mutant Raptor was developed into an Expy of Rappy from the ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhKW66JLwiY Rappy "n" Demo]]'' series.
** Most XERRD scientists are Expies of science-oriented characters from various forms of media, including Dr. Wily from ''VideoGame/MegaManClassic'', Dr. O'Brien of ''Literature/NineteenEightyFour'', and Dr. Insano of ''WebVideo/TheSpoonyExperiment''.
** Louie Martinet, Pearl, Primrose, and Rosalie Mercedes are Expies of [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Luigi, Peach, Pauline, and Rosalina]], respectively.
** Walker and Lovhaug are Expies of Website/ChannelAwesome characters.
* ExpyCoexistence: Dino Attack agent Steven Williams is clearly modeled after Music/JohnWilliams, but the real-life composer is confirmed to exist as a separate person.
* ExtremeMeleeRevenge: Rex let loose bottled-up anger from [[BrainwashedAndCrazy Kotua]] and [[ColonelKilgore Rotor]] upon [[InsaneAdmiral French Fries]] in a particularly brutal moment of ''At War's End''.
* EyeBeams: Mutant T-Rexes have laser vision.
* EyepatchOfPower: Snake, Demoman, Colonel, Holly Vinyaya, and Captain Click have eyepatches, visually making themselves look cool and tough.
* EyeScream:
** Greybeard lost all vision in his right eye due to a Mutant Raptor attack.
** Holly Vinyaya's own right eye was clawed at by an acid-dipped Mutant Raptor claw.
** The Maelstrom entered General's G.E. Body through the eyeholes in his helmet, [[InvokedTrope invoking]] this trope.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:F]]
* FaceHeelTurn:
** Oswald Fabello and Raptor did this when they joined XERRD.
** Kotua and Zachary each preformed Face-Heel Turns against their will. They both got better in the end.
* FaceYourFears: [[spoiler:The Darkitect]] brought Dino Attack Team's worst fears to life and forced them to fight.
* TheFaceless:
** Spy always wears a mask in public, even getting married to Mrs. Rutherford.
** Specs's facial features are never revealed, [[TheUnreveal including (for the reader, anyways) when he is actually unmasked]]!
* FacelessGoons: As XERRD's {{mooks}}, Quasifigus Hybrids wear face-concealing helmets.
* FailedASpotCheck:
** French Fries was briefly seen casually talking to Zenna in the Dino Attack Headquarters... apparently completely oblivious to the fact that members of both the idealist and realist sides of the team are inside trying to kill each other, and for that matter the entire conflict that ''he'' unintentionally caused.
** When Firecracker tried to pull that TakingYouWithMe stunt, he failed to notice that only a small fraction of the Mutant Dino army was actually inside the building at that point.
* FailureHero: Just look at Rex in the events following Dr. Rex's apparent defeat.
* FailureKnight: Libo bears several qualities of a FailureKnight. Due to hubris, his entire organization was decimated by Ogel's forces, forcing Libo to advocate for a replacement organization ([[Toys/LEGOAlphaTeam Alpha Team]]). As Little Bot, he worked from behind-the-scenes in Ogel's bases to ensure that Alpha Team would succeed where his own organization had failed.
* FairPlayWhodunnit: [[TheMole XERRD's mole]], while not too obvious, can be figured out by paying attention to minor details and allowing oneself to distrust anyone. In fact, it was such Fair Play that [=PeabodySam=] had to go out of his way to put less emphasis on the real mole and instead focus on [[RedHerringMole Red Herrings]].
* FakeKillScare: In the Maelstrom Temple, Perfect Chaos apparently killed Amanda, which gave Rex quite the shock. However, the whole thing was only an illusion, and Amanda was still alive.
* FakeStatic: A variation on this trope. When Kotua sends the ''Voltage'' after Rex's Iron Predator, Rex attempts to throw Kotua off his tail by screaming into the radio that he's being eaten by a Mutant T-Rex, followed by him throwing the radio onto the road and then running it over to have a loud "CRUNCH!" followed by static. Kotua doesn't buy it, however.
* FallenHero: Phantom and Oswald Fabello were once heroes, but they have since turned to villainy in this RPG.
* FalseGunshot: This happened at least once while the mutant dinos were invading the Dino Attack Camp on Adventurers' Island. Of course it probably felt like this for everyone in the camp when Rotor suddenly arrived with a T-1 Typhoon and began gunning the dinos from above.
* FanCreatedOffspring: Jayko VIII was created as the descendant of King Jayko from ''Toys/KnightsKingdom2''.
* FanDisservice: Andrew Jackson, who is dirty, sweaty, pale, and unshaven to begin with, was apparently running through the battlefield ''in his underwear''. BrainBleach now, please.
* FantasticRacism:
** The extremists of the idealist-realist bordered on this trope, attacking anyone with opposing views.
** Non-mutated dinosaurs always refer to Mutant Dinos as "abominations".
** Minifigs display Fantastic Racism towards Quasifigus Hybrids. Andrew helping Pterisa integrate into Minifig society are him trying to get people to avert this.
* FascinatingEyebrow: Many characters express confusion or amusement with the raise of an eyebrow.
* FateWorseThanDeath: [[spoiler:[[TragicVillain Dr. Rex]] was unable to die due to [[TheManBehindTheMan Baron Typhonus's]] DivineIntervention. However, he was still on the brink of death and suffering terrible agony and pain from his wounds and the Maelstrom, compounded with the knowledge that he was the Darkitect's plaything all along.]] It's not hard to feel a little pity for him in this state.
* AFatherToHisMen: With some exceptions, many of the elite agents care for the safety of their squads and, in turn, are viewed with reverence and respect.
* FauxAffablyEvil:
** Carolyne Provencal can be downright terrifying... when she's acting sweet and polite.
** [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus]] carried a kind demeanor when speaking. Until you infuriated him...
* FauxShadow: There was a ''lot'' of build-up with Andrew's dreams and dark consciousness that seemed to foreshadow a FaceHeelTurn, or at the very least a mutation. What happened in the end? Andrew got over it. [[WhatCouldHaveBeen/DinoAttackRPG This was mainly the unintentional result of Andrewnuva199 changing his plans for Andrew.]] Ironically, another Dino Attack agent from LEGO Island, Zachary, ended up fulfilling the mutation-induced FaceHeelTurn role.
* TheFellowshipHasEnded: After the FinalBattle, with the dissolving of Dino Attack Team. Most noticeable in Greybeard's goodbyes to Sam Race and Frozeen, and the goodbyes between Zachary, Minerva, Holly, and Zelda.
* FelonyMisdemeanor: In the 2022 AprilFoolsDay, [=PeabodySam=] is threatened with capital punishment if he fails to comply with The LEGO Group's Cease & Desist.
* FemaleMonsterSurprise: Screech the "prototype" Mutant Pterosaur had previously appeared in posts by [=PeabodySam=] that referred to her in gender-neutral terms, with the default assumption that she was male. When avmatoran took over writing her character during the final battle, only then was she revealed to be female.
* FictionalCounterpart: To play up the idea of the LEGO Universe being "similar but different" compared to real life, various real-world subjects are given "[=LEGOized=]" names in this setting, making them fictional LEGO-themed counterparts. For example, instead of having a game series called ''VideoGame/HalfLife'', they have ''Half-LEGO''. Instead of a band called Music/SystemOfADown, they have System of a Play. Instead of having a tabletop RPG called ''TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons'', they have ''Disasters & Dinosaurs''.
* FictionalCountry: LEGOLAND and Barron are both countries in the LEGO world that do not exist in our world.
* FinalBattle: At the end of the Dino Attack war, Dino Attack Team fought one big final battle against Dr. Rex and his Mutant Dino forces in LEGO City on December 21, 2010.
%%* FinalBoss: Dr. Rex.
* FinalBossNewDimension: While it wasn't the final boss of the whole RPG, the Brickspider Bot was the final boss of the LEGO Island story arc and it was fought in the Torn World.
* FinalSolution:
** The whole point of the Dino Attack Team was to eliminate the threat of mutant dinosaurs, namely by destroying them.
** A much more brutal case occurred with Duke and Cam O'Cozy, whose plan seemed to involve complete genocide against everyone in the team with the slightest idealistic views. It turned out that the latter's target was actually the ''entire'' Dino Attack team, and he simply taken advantage of an already intense rivalry between two sides by manipulating the more aggressive one into violence, hoping that a significant number of both would die in the resulting civil war. Of course the whole thing was planned by Dr. Rex, who in addition to programming Cam O'Cozy used the Maelstrom to corrupt Digger's mind.
* FinishingStomp: Dr. Rex finished off [[spoiler:General]] during the final battle by crushing him underfoot.
* FireBreathingDiner: ''Never'' eat super-spicy-tongue-melting-jail-cell-door-opening-hot pizza unless you're Aravis, Helmie, or from LEGO Island.
* FireBreathingWeapon: Flamethrowers are the weapon of choice of {{Pyro|maniac}}, Andrea Jackson Orange, Sarah Bishop, and [[HesBack post-]]HeroicBSOD Rex.
* FireForgedFriends:
** While most of the Dino Attack Team is a BandOfBrothers, there are others who would be classified as FireForgedFriends, such as [[NobleMaleRoguishMale Greybeard and Frozeen]], since they would likely have never gotten along if it were not for the Dino Attack.
** The entire Second Headquarters Squad appears to get along very well with each other, but Soldier and Demoman notably began friends [[AWizardDidIt after they worked together to defend a small castle from an angry wizard's dragon.]]
** Hotwire and Kat, though admittedly they did have some sort of platonic chemistry from the moment they met.
** There are some things you can't share without ending up liking each other, and saving someone's life on mutliple occations like Andrew has for Zach is one of them.
* TheFirstCutIsTheDeepest: After Amanda, Rex's first love, was thought to be killed by Fogel, Rex was left so distraught by the experience that he rebuffed the affections of another... only to later realize that the one he was rebuffing was actually a very-alive Amanda!
* FiveSecondForeshadowing: In the Director's Cut, Finister mentions that he survived a mummy's curse just before said curse [[TurnsRed powers him up]].
* {{Flanderization}}:
** A minor note on Heavy's profile on the wiki stated that he opened a [[EverythingsSatiatingWithSandwiches sandwich]] shop after being discharged from the army. He also got into a food debate with other Dino Attack agents and argued that sandwiches were the best food. Apparently, Atton Rand took these two minor notes about sandwiches and blew them completely out of proportion, to the point where sandwiches overshadowed everything else about Heavy when he appeared in Atton Rand's posts.
** Happens to minor extents for characters certain players aren't quite familiar with. One post between Digger and Solomon Flanderizes Digger's status and agendas with the rest of the team based on somewhat outdated information, protraying him as feeling mistrusted by the other Founding Members and wanting to collaborate with Solomon in secret to more effectively cure Mutant Dinos and not have to kill them all to ensure victory.
** When Kotua appeared in the Maelstrom Temple, he was a mere amalgamation of [[AccentuateTheNegative his negative qualities]], with most emphasis put on his violently realist outlook, his obsession with making Rex suffer, and his association with Perfect Chaos. However, [[spoiler:this was not the real Kotua, but rather [[LieToTheBeholder a Stromling disguised as Kotua by the Darkitect's illusions]]. Most likely, the Darkitect looked into Rex's mind and only picked out the traits of Kotua that would work best in forcing Rex to [[FaceYourFears Face His Fears]].]] Later, when thinking more rationally, Rex was able to recall some of Kotua's other qualities, including the positive ones, besides the ones that were depicted in the Flanderization.
* FlashbackBPlot: The Mole Hunt StoryArc is interspersed with the Dacta Heist flashback. The flashback ties into the present plotline as it delves into Trigger's distrust of Amanda (a major aspect of him suspecting her of being TheMole), as well as introducing Montoya and his reasons for coming to Dino Attack Headquarters.
* FlashSideways: In ''Pirates of the Tropical Sea'', Mary Rose glimpses the {{Alternate Timeline}}s 2004-A and 2010-A, all on the same day (June 9, 2020), and she retains the memories of her AlternateSelf's experiences upon returning to her own present. [[spoiler:This is what allows her to realize that Greybeard isn't actually her grandfather, since her 2010-A counterpart was interacting with her real grandfather at the time.]]
* FlippingTheTable: After hearing his sister's name from his interrogator, Oswald Fabello flew into a rage and flipped over a table trying to reach the interrogator, Zach.
* FlorenceNightingaleEffect: Pierce apparently got close to a young Sarah Bishop while taking care of her injuries following an accident. Interestingly, they later rekindled their old romance when they met again, but their places switched, with Sarah now taking care of Pierce's injuries. It's also heavily implied that the former case is how Kate was born.
* FogOfDoom: Little is known about the Fog encountered by the ''Voltage'', except Kotua knew he had to wear biohazard gear and that it contained deadly bacteria.
* {{Foil}}:
** Rotor, the aggressive commander who tries to think realistically and practically, putting his own personal morals aside and embracing the dark side of the war makes him the perfect {{foil}} for Zenna, the kind and compassionate idealist who thinks things through and puts her friends above all else. It's interesting to even note the two different fates of the characters, Zenna ended up paralyzed in one arm and with every bone in her body broken, while Rotor's so far made through most of the war without a scratch.
** Lance. the good-natured but trigger-happy rookie is a {{foil}} to Kate, the inexperienced rookie who has trouble adjusting to her surroundings.
** When they work together, the cranky, pessimistic, and down-to-earth Greybeard is often a {{Foil}} to the idealistic and romantic Rex.
** Zach and Andrew are both upbeat LEGO Island citizens who find themselves entangled with the Maelstrom on Adventurers Island. Whereas Andrew sees potential in it to further certain transformative desires of his, only for him to rethink his agenda and deny it and move on, Zach is relatively disregardive of it until he is infected by it and made a Stromling. Indeed, when the two come to blows, they become aware of traits of this trope lingering between them of how one of them rejected the Maelstrom and the other embraced it. It also became part of why Andrew chose to help Minerva fight to save Zach.
** When Atton Rand started planning his new primary character, he intentionally tried to make the exact opposite of Zenna. She is a woman, the new character's a man. Zenna was a kind and compassionate idealist, the new guy is a cold, selfish realist. Zenna actually cared for the good of her planet and the cause of the team, he doesn't give a [[PardonMyKlingon znap]] and is only in it for the money. The result was the character of Trigger, whom he found a lot more enjoyable.
*** Interestingly, in the flashback, Montoya arguably serves as a {{foil}} to Trigger/Schiess. Whereas Schiess is professional and practical, Montoya is probably the most moral of the group. While Schiess is simply in it for the money Montoya is actually trying to provide for his girlfriend who he seems to genuinely love and is only involved with crime due to financial problems. For that matter, Montoya was the first person out of the lot who objected when Scorsese refused to pay a waitress's tip. Also Montoya was probably the one person who did the least illegal things out of them all, given that he's simply the driver.
*** Montgonel was partially intended as a {{foil}} for Pharisee. Where Pharisee is very "preachy" acting as though he has divine rights to justice, Montgonel is more calm and professional, preferring to follow protocol. Montgonel also thinks more in shades of grey, unlike Pharisee's perceptions of black and white morality. Finally, where Pharisee judges based soley on the crime itself, Montgonel looks more into the details, i.e. motives, background, ect. so while he probably would have nothing against capturing an agent like say... Snake, who was an unrepenetent criminal already charged with bank robbery who had attempted to desert, he would be a bit more lenient toward Montoya, a family man who attempted to kill the woman responsible for killing five of his partners.
*** An unintentional example, as the two were created by entirely different people, comes from looking at the two semi-religious characters of Shaw and Pharisee. Shaw is a good person and capable doctor, but she is left shy and somewhat insecure in her beliefs, simply finding comfort in her faith. Meanwhile, Pharisee uses his faith to give his life meaning, believing that the world is black and white, and it is his divine right to impart justice on others.
* ForcedTransformation: Mutant Dino Serum (as well as similar means, such as the Shadows' technology) transforms Dino Attack agents into Mutant Dinos. In the process, the agents usually lose their humanity and start attacking their teammates, while themselves becoming the target of other Dino Attack agents who think they're normal Mutant Dinos.
* ForDoomTheBellTolls:
** Played with. While no actual bells are tolling, the sound of thunder before the final battle sounded suspiciously like church bells ringing, according to the prose.
** The soundtrack mixes for scenes that take place in the final battle (e.g. "Divine Intervention", "Anyone Can Die", and "The End Of All Things") make appropriate use of the Clock Tower bell from ''Videogame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask''.
* ForScience: Michelle Glados's primary motivation. She doesn't care about Dr. Rex's vision of "cleansing" the human population; she just wants to observe what happens during the apocalypse for the sake of science.
* {{Foreshadowing}}:
** Dust's nightmare way back at Outpost 108.
** There were a few hints towards [[spoiler:both Frank Einstein and Wallace Bishop]] being TheMole planted in XERRD. [[spoiler:Frank Einstein's biography revealed that he was personally sent by [[VideoGame/LEGOUniverse Albert Overbuild and Vanda Darkflame]] to spy on XERRD, while Wallace Bishop's [[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes relationship to Kate Bishop]] made him seem like prime HeelFaceTurn material, not to mention that Dino Attack's Mole delivered messages in a ''[[LawOfConservationOfDetail bishop]]''.]]
** Greybeard's RousingSpeech in Antarctica was intended as a "preview" of Greybeard's speech before the final battle.
** Andrew mentioning that he felt, in spite of being about to face Stromling!Zach in a duel, that all would be well by Christmas when they would partcipate in an island-wide celebration. Cue [=Andrewnuva199=]'s final posts nearly two years later...
** [[spoiler:Amanda's death and Rex's HeroicSacrifice]] were both heavily foreshadowed in Greybeard's flashback/dream sequence.
** As Rex was mourning [[spoiler:illusion!]]Amanda's death in the Maelstrom Temple, Stranger's Mutant Lizard arrived to protect him from [[spoiler:illusion!]]Kotua. Although this was written by the seat of [=PeabodySam=]'s pants, it served as perfect {{foreshadowing}} towards the scene in which Rex was [[spoiler:mourning Amanda's actual death in the final battle, and Trouble arrived to protect him from Michelle Glados.]]
** Bluetooth and Vinyana mention various reports of an alien fleet heading towards Earth that's ignoring attempts at contact by anyone, and the idea that they should try and prepare a defense team in case of hostilities. Unlike most other examples, this is refering to events past the end of the RPG, namely the story of the [[Toys/LEGOAlienConquest Alien Conquest]] theme that occurs in 2011, a year after Dino Attack.
* {{Forgiveness}}:
** Greybeard finally forgave Beatrice just before he died in ''[[WhatIf December 21, 2010]]''.
** Minerva Fabello finally forgave her mother, Athena, after she [[spoiler:[[DeathEqualsRedemption was fatally wounded by Oswald.]]]]
* ForegoneConclusion:
** As of November 2005, ''Dino Attack RPG'' had a ForegoneConclusion in that Dino Attack Team ''had'' to win the war.
** Trigger himself outright stated that Silencia killed five of his six partners at Mindstorms, Inc. Given that we actually see Trigger trying to call Montoya, it becomes clear that it doesn't end well for Orange, Scorsese, Verbal, Keaton, or Deniro. Due to Silencia Venomosa's threat to Michelle Glados, it's obvious that the flashback won't end well for Uærlig Sindstorme or Edward Korrupte either.
* AFormYouAreComfortableWith: When he tried to appeal to Lord Sinister, [[spoiler:the Darkitect appeared as Baron Typhonus. Only after Lord Sinister rejected his proposal did the Darkitect reveal his true form.]]
* FourIsDeath:
** that guy from that show likes to use the number four and Lutsky drew the four of clubs in Dust's card trick. Imaginary Dust explained that the four of clubs is one of the most ominous cards becuse it is sometimes called "the devil's bedstead".
** ''Time and Place'', a short story with death as a central theme, opens with Anubis waking up at 4:04 AM.
* FourLinesAllWaiting: Every player writes from a different character's perspective, resulting in various interconnected plot threads.
** The Adventurers' Island campaign alone was made up of at least 30 different stories. Aside from the actual mission at hand, there was Zach's corruption, Kate's efforts to fit in with the rest of the team, her gradual relationship with Pierce, Rex's quest to form an alliance with the dinosaurs, Rotor's relationship with the rest of the team, and Minerva's efforts to save Zach.
** Similarily, the previous story arc had not one, not two, but ''three ''different plots going on. Much focus was on the LEGO Island mission, but it wasn't long before we were jumping back and forth between the agents in the Torn World, the mission in Antarctica, the refugee riots, Zenna's exposure of the Antarctica mission and ensuing chaos, an entire civil war going on as the result of a genocidal maniac wanting to murder anyone with the slightest idealistic beliefs, the comic relief provided by Enter and Return, Zenna's working relationship with Pierce in the hospital, and Hotwire and B gallivanting off to find Kat after Cane returned and captured her.
** Some of Atton Rand's more recent posts have played this in a more straight forward fashion, shifting between the actual mission though occasionally switching between different individuals involved, Pierce's arrival in Antarctica and his meeting with Sarah Bishop, and the humorous shenanigans of Clint Wayne, Angel Eyes, and the Second Headquarters Squad.
* FreakLabAccident: A lab accident was what turned Jecht "Landro" Raptor into a HalfHumanHybrid.
* FreakinessShame: Although Pterisa is very insecure about her appearance, numerous Dino Attack agents have comforted her. Specifically, Dr. Cyborg invoked this trope and Rex even referred to it by its former name, "But Your Wings Are Beautiful".
* FreudianExcuse:
** Dust never knew his mother and his father was an [[AlcoholicParent alcoholic]] and [[WouldHurtAChild abusive]].
** Similarly, Michelle Glados's mother died in childbirth, her father was often drunk and abusive, [[FriendlessBackground and she grew up without any friends]].
** Dr. Rex was separated from his sister at a very early age, scarring the young boy for life.
* FriendOrFoe:
** This happens as the result of Mutant Dino Serum (or other similar means) [[ForcedTransformation transforming Dino Attack agents into Mutant Dinos]]. Their fellow Dino Attack agents might mistake them for a normal Mutant Dino and fire upon them or capture them (the latter happened to Zorikk after he was turned into a Mutant T-Rex). The Shadows deliberately invoked this in their plan to wipe out Dino Attack Team by turning Dino Attack agents into Mutant Dinos.
** Lutsky's infiltration squad unwittingly massacred a group of Dino Attack Agents disguised as XERRD personnel.
** Sometime afterword, a half-asleep Lance was keeping watch with a machine gun on hand, and panicked when he saw two "Stromlings", and opened fire. Turned out he was actually shooting at Kate and Clint Wayne.
** Poor Clark, shot through the head because Palmer tricked his teammates into thinking he was a Stromling.
* FriendlessBackground:
** Kate seems to have experienced this during her childhood.
** Michelle Glados literally had no friends, which ultimately led to her becoming a bitter loner.
** Before joining Alpha Team, Frozeen had very few friends.
** Dust never did nor has any desire to have friends. Likely becuse of the emotional barrers he has placed around himslef
* FriendlyEnemy: This was roughly the relationship between Angel Eyes and Clint Wayne before the war- the two roughest, toughest gunslingers in town, and the only ones stand a chance against each other- and part of why they're able to work together when they're both assigned to Gold City.
* FriendlySniper: Barry Jackson A.K.A. Shotgun. He's quite a likeable guy... just don't give him any reason to target you.
%%* FriendlyTarget: Keith Empson.
%%* FromBadToWorse: The events following [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus's DivineIntervention]] in a nutshell.
* FromBeyondTheFourthWall: Apparently, the source of Zero's madness is [[spoiler:the authors retconning his original story]].
* FromNobodyToNightmare:
** Dr. Ronald Alexander was just an ordinary scientist who grew up in the Great Depression. He would one day become [[BigBad Dr. Rex]], the monstrous and maddened Mutant T-Rex who leads the Maelstrom's forces in the apocalypse itself.
** Amanda Remous was only a young and innocent girl when her parents were murdered. She would later become one of the most infamous assassins in LEGOLAND.
** Zachary Virchaus was just an average LEGO Island civilian. When he was corrupted into a Stromling, he became one of the most dangerous (and [[EvilIsHammy hammiest]]) generals serving the Maelstrom.
* FullNameBasis:
** Sam Throramebi, Sam Sinister, and Sam Race are victims of this trope for obvious reasons.
** When referred to by his real name, Andrew Jackson, Pyro falls under this trope in order to avoid confusing players, due to two other Dino Attack agents named Andrew Anderson and Barry Jackson.
* FullyAbsorbedFinale: ''Love and War'' partially revealed the conclusion to the "mole hunt" subplot of ''Alpha Team RPG: Ogel's Last Stand'', which could never be finished because ''Ogel's Last Stand'' was prematurely ended by the Website/BZPower forum upgrade. More details were also revealed on the wiki.
* FunWithAcronyms:
** D.I.N.O.[[note]][[RecursiveAcronym Dino]] Invasion Neutralization Organization[[/note]] Attack
** S.T.A.R.E.[[note]]Shadow Technology Agency Reference Engine[[/note]]
** X.E.R.R.D.[[note]]Xenon Elite Researchers Regarding Destruction. During the Dino Attack, Destruction was changed to Dinosaurs but the acronym remained the same.[[/note]] If you don't get why a nonsense word qualifies for this trope, "XERRD" is "Dr. Rex" spelled backwards.
** F.U.T.U.R.E.[[note]]Foundation of Unstoppable Terror and Ultimate Ruthless Evil[[/note]], the organization formed by Fogel, Finister, Frickster, and Fladek. This means that the future villains are actually F.U.T.U.R.E. villains.
** T.O.A.[[note]]Tactical Operations Armor[[/note]], the PoweredArmor worn by Zero and Phantom in ''Love and War''. The T.O.A. suits are a {{reimagining|TheArtifact}} of Zero and Phantom transforming into [[Toys/{{BIONICLE}} Toa]] in the original RPG.
** A.N.T.I.[[note]]Alternate Nexus To Infinity[[/note]], the Lens Pioneers portal to alternate universes. {{Lampshade|Hanging}}d by Howard Simmons, who assumes that the lab boys gave it that name because they wanted a catchy acronym.
** M.A.C.G.U.F.F.I.N.[[note]]Military Assault Corp's Giant Unnecessary Fricking Filithium Irite Nuke[[/note]]
* FunetikAksent: Spy, Heavy, Medic, and Zed Provhezor have varying levels of a stereotypical East European Funetik Aksent. Spy's accent pronounces "th" as "z", Heavy's accent pronounces "w" as "v", Medic's accent combines Spy and Heavy's accents and pronounces "s" as "z" and "f" as "v", and Zed Provhezor's accent is Medic's accent plus replacing "c" with "k". Additionally, Heavy drops his articles, while Medic and Provhezor use a few German words such as "und" and "ja". The sentence "Yes, I was at the car dealership the other day and purchased a Volkswagen, but then I crashed it and it caught on fire" would be pronounced the following ways:
** Spy: "Yes, I was at ze car dealership ze ozer day and purchased a Volkswagen, but zen I crashed it and it caught on fire."
** Heavy: "Yes, I vas at car dealership other day and purchased Volksvagen, but then I crashed it and it caught on fire."
** Medic: "Ja, I vaz at ze car dealership ze ozer day und purchazed a Volkzvagen, but zen I crashed it und it caught on vire."
** Provhezor: "Ja, I vaz at ze kar dealership ze ozer day und purchazed a Volkzvagen, but zen I krashed it und it kaught on vire."
* FutileHandReach: In ''Pirates of the Tropical Sea'', Mary Rose reaches towards Greybeard when he [[spoiler:confronts the Golden King]], despite there being a significant distance between them. Even the story's prose acknowledges that this motion is in vain.
* FutureMeScaresMe: Lord Sam Sinister made it known that he was afraid of Finister. Even Evil Ogel felt uncomfortable around Fogel.
