8[[https://www.tlc.com TLC]] (former initialism for The Learning Channel) is an American cable TV specialty channel which initially focused on educational content, launched in 1980. The channel mostly featured documentary content pertaining to nature, science, history, current events, medicine, technology, cooking, home improvement and other information-based topics. In the 2000s, it began airing {{Reality Show}}s such as ''Trading Spaces'', ''Series/JunkyardWars'', ''Robotica'', ''A Wedding Story'' and ''A Baby Story''. Due to the success of these shows, the channel revamped itself in 2006 to show mostly home improvement shows, and in 2008 started airing shows about people's personal lives. [[NetworkDecay It's currently known]] for having [[LowestCommonDenominator shows about little people, huge families, and people who have controversial lifestyles]]. 10TLC, along with [[Creator/DiscoveryFamily Discovery Kids]], used to have a weekday morning block aimed at children called "Ready Set Learn" (a reincarnation of the children's block of the same name that TLC ran in the 1990s). The block starred a penguin named Paz (which coincidentally had his own show which aired on TLC/Discovery Kids in the US and internationally as a standalone program) and would have short live-action segments starring the little penguin in-between shows (which aired alongside the ''Paz'' episodes) that aired on the block.
