Show Hayami is a Jenius.

But in all seriousness, Show or Sho / Shou Hayami (real name Yasushi Ōhama, born August 2, 1958) is one of the better-known veteran voice actors in the anime world. He is known for the grandiosity of his voice, which often lands him the role of a LargeHam and goes well with charismatic leaders, whether a BigGood or BigBad. On the other hand, he can also portray complete psychopathic madmen very convincingly, probably best known for his role as Sōsuke Aizen of Manga/Bleach.

Beware if someone voiced by him seems both good and affable: chances are he will turn out to be a heroic sociopath... and that's assuming he remains a hero at all. Some of the exceptions are the archangel Uriel in the Manga/AngelSanctuary drama [=CDs=], a little emo, but undeniably heroic. Two others are the title character, Exkaiser from Anime/BraveExkaiser, and the title character, Da Garn from Anime/TheBraveFighterOfLegendDaGarn.

He's got rather a lot of fangirls, mainly because of his rich, husky baritone, which they find very sexy. Creator/MasakazuMorita called him out on this at one live event, where 90% of the audience practically fainted the moment he opened his mouth. Masakazu jokingly asked him to tone it down lest he steal all the attention, and Show apologized, which only made the girls scream louder.

He is married to fellow voice actress Creator/ReiIgarashi, who is best known as EvilMatriarch Precia Testarossa and AlphaBitch Mira Kagami; perfect match. And has a nephew-turn-adopted son, Hideyuki Hayami who also followed their steps and became a voice actor.

He adores Creator/ToshihikoSeki, his junior.

Since Hayami took a liking in the "Dr. Hayami" character he created when on a guest appearance in Creator/ToshiyukiMorikawa and Creator/NobuyukiHiyama's Omaera No Tame Darou live talk show, he organized and produced his own Japanese voice actor performance franchise, Franchise/SuperStylishDoctorsStory rivaling Creator/TakehitoKoyasu's Anime/KnightHunters franchise.

He's unrelated to Creator/SaoriHayami (their names aren't written the same in kanji).

Rather curious case, though: Hayami voices Orson in the OAV and is darrin'ed by Creator/NobuyukiHiyama in the TV series... and then he becomes TheOtherDarrin by succeeding Creator/AkiraKamiya as Ashram. Orson himself is a case of PlayingAgainstType: he's more or less TheStoic... until he gets pissed off (generally by seeing his partner Shiris in danger) and then goes off his fucking gourd..

!!Tropes relating to his roles:

* AntiHero: On a good day.
* AntiVillain: If neither villain nor AntiHero.
* AxCrazy: Many of his villainous roles.
* BigBad or BigGood: Two of his usual typecastings, the first moreso than the latter.
* EvilSoundsDeep: One of the trope's permanent poster boys.
* LargeHam: Many of his roles tend to be quite boisterous.
* PlayingAgainstType: Adan (Juan) in Anime/PokemonTheSeries, Ichiya Vandalay Kotobuki in Manga/FairyTail, Umibozu in Manga/Gintama, Father Remington in Manga/ChronoCrusade, Wisemon in Anime/DigimonFusion and Anime/DigimonXrosWarsTheYoungHuntersWhoLeaptThroughTime, Judeau in the first Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood OVA, Yasha in Manga/RGVeda, Nicholas D. Wolfwood in Manga/Trigun, and surprisingly Snake of the Festival in Literature/ShakuganNoShana. Then there's also Kei Katsuragi, the protagonist.
* PromotedFanboy: Hayami had expressed numerous times (most notably in 2014) that he wanted to voice a Toku villain, particularly a final boss. He got his wish in Kamen Rider Zero-One. Although he ultimately ended up as the DiscOneFinalBoss, he most certainly made a hell of an impression.
* SharpDressedMan: The characters he plays are often immaculately dressed.
