[[https://nelvana.com Nelvana Limited]] (also trading as Nelvana Enterprises) is a UsefulNotes/{{Toronto}}-based [[UsefulNotes/{{Canada}} Canadian]] entertainment company founded in 1971. It is best known and most beloved for its world-renowned animation studio, which more or less paved the way for the entire Canadian animation industry, comparable in status for Canada as Creator/HannaBarbera or even Creator/{{Disney}} are for the United States. If you've watched Canadian animation, especially shows aimed for children, there's a major chance Nelvana contributed to its production.

Established by Michael Hirsh, Patrick Loubert, and Clive A. Smith, the company got its start making adult-oriented animated television specials like ''WesternAnimation/ACosmicChristmas'' and ''WesternAnimation/TheDevilAndDanielMouse'', as well as feature films like ''WesternAnimation/RockAndRule''. Since the 80s, they have become most famous for their work on television series, especially {{Animated Adaptation}}s of properties like ''Literature/PippiLongstocking'', ''Literature/{{Redwall}}'', ''Literature/{{Franklin}}'', ''WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfSamAndMaxFreelancePolice'', ''Literature/TheMagicSchoolBus'', ''WesternAnimation/JacobTwoTwo'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Grossology}}'', and ''WesternAnimation/RubyGloom''. They have also been involved in many wholly original shows, such as ''WesternAnimation/{{Spliced}}'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Detentionaire}}'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Braceface}}'', ''WesternAnimation/DiGataDefenders'', ''WesternAnimation/BeingIan'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Sixteen}}'', ''WesternAnimation/SuperWish'', ''WesternAnimation/RangerRob'', ''WesternAnimation/MovilleMysteries'', ''WesternAnimation/TheDogAndPonyShow'', and ''WesternAnimation/{{Wishfart}}''. Many of their series were created in association with American and British {{Saturday Morning Cartoon}} blocks or kids' networks in Canada like Creator/{{YTV}}, Creator/FamilyChannel, Creator/TreehouseTV, and Creator/{{Teletoon}} (the last of which they actually helped with establishing), resulting in shows like ''WesternAnimation/FlyingRhinoJuniorHigh'', ''WesternAnimation/NedsNewt'', ''WesternAnimation/DogCity'', ''WesternAnimation/BlazingDragons'', ''WesternAnimation/EekTheCat'', ''WesternAnimation/CadillacsAndDinosaurs'', ''WesternAnimation/RescueHeroes'', and ''WesternAnimation/StickinAround''.

The long history and diverse output that defines Nelvana's place in Canadian animation has earned the company a great deal of high regard for its ability to innovate in the medium and enchant audiences both young and old. Many of the series that define their stock-in-trade have earned critical acclaim and loyal fanbases, as has their ability to faithfully reproduce distinctive styles in their storybook-to-screen transitions like the ''WesternAnimation/{{Care Bears|1980s}}'', ''Literature/{{Babar}}'', ''Literature/LittleBear'', ''WesternAnimation/{{The Adventures of Tintin|1991}}'', ''WesternAnimation/MissSpidersSunnyPatchFriends'', ''WesternAnimation/MaxAndRuby'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Rupert}}'', and ''Literature/TheDumbBunnies''. Top Hollywood talent like Creator/GeorgeLucas (''Film/TheStarWarsHolidaySpecial''), Creator/TimBurton (''WesternAnimation/{{Beetlejuice}}''), Creator/JimCarrey (''Film/AceVentura''), and Creator/PhilLordAndChrisMiller (''WesternAnimation/CloneHigh'') have worked with them, as have major entertainment companies from around the world, such as Creator/DiCEntertainment (''WesternAnimation/InspectorGadget''), Creator/SonyPicturesAnimation (''WesternAnimation/HotelTransylvaniaTheSeries''), Creator/{{PBS}} (the first 5 seasons of ''WesternAnimation/{{Cyberchase}}'', ''Literature/TheBerenstainBears'' and the ''Bookworm Bunch'' shows) and Creator/{{Nickelodeon}} (''WesternAnimation/TheBackyardigans'' and seasons 2 through 4 of ''WesternAnimation/BubbleGuppies''). They have especially close ties with the last one, as they own the non-American distribution rights to some Nickelodeon properties, most prominently ''Series/{{Taina}}'' and the first 5 seasons of ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents''. Nickelodeon in turn has aired many of Nelvana's in-house productions, like ''WesternAnimation/{{Pelswick}}'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Wayside}}'', ''WesternAnimation/OlliesPack'', and ''WesternAnimation/MaggieAndTheFerociousBeast''.

While Nelvana's present-day mainstay is 2D cartoons aimed at the preschool and elementary/middle school demographics, they have occasionally returned to their adult animation roots with shows like ''WesternAnimation/BobAndMargaret'' and ''WesternAnimation/DeltaState'' and done CGI shows such as ''WesternAnimation/DonkeyKongCountry'' and ''WesternAnimation/RoliePolieOlie''. Additionally, earlier in the studio's history, Nelvana also produced live-action programming, like adaptations of ''Literature/TheHardyBoys'' and ''Literature/NancyDrew'', but this was largely phased out by the end of the 90s. Many of their works (especially their later shows) are animated domestically, but a fair share of it has been outsourced overseas too. Contributing to all outsourced animation, they have also done work on various anime series, having fully co-produced both ''Anime/{{Pecola}}'' (with both Milky Cartoon and Yomiko Advertising) and ''Anime/{{Bakugan}}'' (with Sega Toys, Spin Master Entertainment, and Creator/TMSEntertainment), as well as having licensed the English dubs of shows such as ''Anime/CardcaptorSakura'', ''Anime/{{Medabots}}'', and ''Franchise/{{Beyblade}}''.

Nelvana's corporate overlord is Creator/{{Corus Entertainment}}, which acquired the company in 2000. Corus also owns a number of other media companies in Canada, including television channels Creator/TreehouseTV, Creator/{{YTV}}, & Creator/{{Teletoon}} and Kids Can Press (publisher of the ''Literature/{{Franklin}}'' books, which was itself acquired by Nelvana in 1998). Corus also owns the company that created the UsefulNotes/ToonBoom animation software, so many of Nelvana's modern series (particularly their {{Domestic Only Cartoon}}s) are animated with it, like ''WesternAnimation/CornAndPeg'' and ''WesternAnimation/{{Mysticons}}''.

A fair number of Nelvana series (such as ''WesternAnimation/ClassOfTheTitans'', ''WesternAnimation/TimothyGoesToSchool'', ''WesternAnimation/JaneAndTheDragon'', and ''WesternAnimation/MarvinTheTapDancingHorse'') were rerun in the U.S. on Creator/{{Qubo}} until its shutdown in 2021. Many others are legally available for free online on Tubi TV and official Nelvana-run Website/YouTube channels such as [[https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcJT_hEkkQ03NAzp_6NEBiw Treehouse Direct]] (which mainly has their {{Preschool Show}}s, but also a few more general kids' shows and some miscellaneous content), [[https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTJVG4j7embib_4K4vm-iIw Retro Rerun]] (which features shows aimed at older audiences and nostalgic series from the 80s and 90s), [[https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChUxVeU8kKEjmXOJZJGZE4g Keep It Weird]] (which is where they put most of their regular kids' cartoons for the 7-11 demographic), and [[https://www.youtube.com/c/CartoonPowerUp/featured Cartoon Power Up]] (which features their anime dubs and some of their more-action oriented cartoons). They also run the official [=YouTube=] channels for a number of properties they own or distribute, such as ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Franklin}}'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Babar}}'', and ''WesternAnimation/LittleBear''.

They also used to run a kids-oriented network called [=KidsCo=] in Asia, the Pacific, the Middle East and Europe, in a joint-venture with Creator/DiCEntertainment, later acquired by Creator/CookieJarEntertainment, and, eventually, Creator/NBCUniversal. It was shuttered when Creator/DHXMedia bought out Cookie Jar and pulled out of the deal[[note]]the reason of the buyout was to bolster their library of content to air on Creator/TheHub[[/note]], while NBC pulled out to focus on its newly-acquired Creator/{{Sprout}} network (now Creator/UniversalKids).

In October 2020, Corus [[https://www.corusent.com/news/duncan-studios-x-nelvana/ announced]] that Nelvana would partner with Duncan Studio, an animation studio based in Pasadena, California noted for doing the animated segments in ''Film/MaryPoppinsReturns'', to produce animated feature films, bringing Nelvana back into film production once again.

Gets a ShoutOut in ''Series/StarTrekTheNextGeneration'' episode "The Defector", when a secret Romulan base is supposedly located on the planet "Nelvana III"; and for their work on the animated series ''WesternAnimation/{{Droids}}'' and ''WesternAnimation/{{Ewoks}}'', they also got a ''Franchise/StarWars'' species named after them: [[http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Nelvaanian the Nelvaanians]] from ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsCloneWars''.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, the company gets its name from an old Canadian comic-book superheroine named ComicBook/NelvanaOfTheNorthernLights. She was actually the company’s initial mascot; they didn’t adopt the polar bear until 1978 with ''WesternAnimation/TheDevilAndDanielMouse''. They currently co-own the rights to the character and her comics with the National Library and Archives of Canada.

----
!!The work of Nelvana provides examples of:
* AnimatedAdaptation: As you can see from the show list above, they've probably done more series based on children's books and live-action shows than original ones.
* BreakthroughHit: Their 80s ''WesternAnimation/{{Care Bears|1980s}}'' series. While the studio had seen a decent amount of success with its various movies and TV specials, it was their work on ''Care Bears'' that put them on the map, with its popularity saving them from near-bankruptcy following the BoxOfficeBomb of ''WesternAnimation/RockAndRule'' in 1983. To a lesser extent, their 1989 ''WesternAnimation/{{Babar}}'' and ''WesternAnimation/{{Beetlejuice}}'' series were this as well, paving the way for all their other {{Animated Adaptation}}s and proving them a force to be reckoned with in TV animation.
* CanadaDoesNotExist: Their shows occasionally fall under this, particularly series based on non-Canadian properties and their co-productions. To this day, you’ll still find some people who believe their ''WesternAnimation/{{Babar}}'' series was an entirely French production or that the first season of ''WesternAnimation/CloneHigh'' was wholly American. Not to say that their Canada-only productions aren’t victim of this either; one Australian promo for ''WesternAnimation/{{Detentionaire}}'' implied the show was set in the States when it was actually meant to be a fictionalized version of Toronto.
* ChildrenVoicingChildren: Most of their animated series, especially those with child protagonists, make use of this trope, such as ''WesternAnimation/MissSpidersSunnyPatchFriends'', ''Literature/{{Franklin}}'', and ''WesternAnimation/StickinAround''. Several prominent Canadian actors, like Creator/MichaelCera and Creator/NoahReid, started off as child voice actors for Nelvana cartoons.
* CreatorsOddball: Nelvana produced many cartoons for children, some...not so much: ''WesternAnimation/RockAndRule'', ''WesternAnimation/JohnCallahansQuads'', ''WesternAnimation/BobAndMargaret'', ''WesternAnimation/CloneHigh'', ''WesternAnimation/DeltaState'', and ''WesternAnimation/{{Committed}}'', to name a few.
** ''WesternAnimation/WildCATs1994'' sticks out for being a straight action show, with 90s' comic book visuals to boot.
** Any of their live-action output, including ''T And T'' and the 1995 ''Hardy Boys'' and ''Nancy Drew'' series, as well as the kidcoms they've done for Creator/{{YTV}}. And also the R-rated comedy ''Film/{{Burglar}}''.
* CrossRegionalVoiceActing: Occasionally they'll manage to get voice actors from the US or UK to do some voice work for them alongside their Canadian voice talent, usually on co-productions like ''WesternAnimation/InspectorGadget'' and ''WesternAnimation/BobAndMargaret'', although some, like ''WesternAnimation/MovilleMysteries'' and ''WesternAnimation/GeorgeAndMartha'' stand out for featuring American {{Celebrity Voice Actor}}s in an otherwise Canadian cast. Notable exceptions include ''WesternAnimation/EekTheCat'' and its sister show ''The Terrible Thunderlizards'', both of which were recorded in Los Angeles and ''WesternAnimation/HorridHenry'', which was fully UK-voiced.
* DomesticOnlyCartoon: While they have outsourced quite a bit of their work to Asia and Europe, many of their later productions (especially the ones done in UsefulNotes/ToonBoom) are animated domestically, such as ''WesternAnimation/{{Detentionaire}}'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Sidekick}}'', ''WesternAnimation/JacobTwoTwo'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Spliced}}'', ''WesternAnimation/WillasWildLife'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Grossology}}'', ''WesternAnimation/RubyGloom'', and ''WesternAnimation/CornAndPeg''. Most however are outsourced to other Canadian studios rather than being animated in-house. A handful of their earlier specials, ''Rock & Rule'' and the ''Get Along Gang'' pilot were also done in-house.
* GoodParents: This is a very common theme in most of the shows aimed for children, such as ''WesternAnimation/MissSpidersSunnyPatchFriends'', ''Literature/LittleBear'', and ''WesternAnimation/TimothyGoesToSchool''.
* HeyItsThatSound: They often reuse sound effects. For example, the ''Backyardigans'' GrowlingGut sound effect was heard in an episode of the original ''Bakugan''.
* InternationalCoproduction: A sizable chunk of their work winds up as such.
** Pretty much anything they've helped Creator/{{Nickelodeon}} with, including ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'' and ''Series/{{Taina}}'' (both of which they own the non-American distributions rights to[[note]]only the first 5 seasons for the former[[/note]]).
** Chinese studios such as Creator/JadeAnimation have helped them produce ''WesternAnimation/{{Braceface}}'', ''WesternAnimation/GeorgeShrinks'', ''WesternAnimation/TimothyGoesToSchool'', and ''WesternAnimation/SevenLittleMonsters'', among other series.
** New Zealand's Creator/{{WETA}} co-produced ''WesternAnimation/JaneAndTheDragon'' with them, while Australian studios helped to co-produce ''WesternAnimation/{{Pearlie}}'', ''WesternAnimation/TheDayMyButtWentPsycho'', and ''WesternAnimation/TheDumbBunnies''.
** ''WesternAnimation/HotelTransylvaniaTheSeries'' was a co-production with Creator/SonyPicturesAnimation.
** The first seasons of ''WesternAnimation/InspectorGadget'' and ''WesternAnimation/HeathcliffAndTheCatillacCats'' were co-produced with Creator/DiCEntertainment; [=DiC=] went solo afterwards.
** The later entries of several of their anime franchise dubs, such as ''{{Anime/Bakugan}}'' and the ''[[Anime/BakuganBattlePlanet Battle Planet]]'' reboot (with Creator/TMSEntertainment), as well as and the ''Anime/BeybladeMetalFusion'' and ''Beywheelz'' seasons of ''{{Franchise/Beyblade}}'' (with Creator/SynergySP).
** They did ''{{WesternAnimation/Gargoyles}}: The Goliath Chronicles'' and ''WesternAnimation/HandyManny'' with Creator/DisneyTelevisionAnimation.
** British co-productions include ''WesternAnimation/BobAndMargaret'' and ''WesternAnimation/BlazingDragons''. They also co-produced the first season of the British series ''WesternAnimation/HorridHenry''.
** Many French co-productions, particularly with Creator/EllipseAnimation, such as ''WesternAnimation/{{Babar}}'' and ''WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfTintin1991'', although they've also cooperated with other studios, like Creator/{{Medialab}} for ''WesternAnimation/DonkeyKongCountry'''s first season (although [[Creator/WangFilmProductions Hong Guang]] took over for season 2), Sparx Productions for ''WesternAnimation/RoliePolieOlie'', and Creator/{{Alphanim}} for ''WesternAnimation/DeltaState''.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: A few of their works qualify, or at least did, such as the ''WesternAnimation/DonkeyKongCountry'' cartoon, ''Film/TheStarWarsHolidaySpecial'' (which they partially worked on), and even their ''[[Anime/CardcaptorSakura Cardcaptors]]'' dub. While the former two did see at least partial releases in modern times (with their part of the ''Holiday Special'' as a bonus feature on the Star Wars Saga Blu-Ray collection), their ''Cardcaptors'' dub only saw part of its run released on DVD by Creator/{{Geneon}} before going out of print, even ''before'' that company's shutdown. The only part of their dub with a modern release is Creator/DiscotekMedia's release of the first film, most likely because regardless of its plot alterations, it was visually uncut, and while the main anime was relicensed by [[Creator/NipponIchi NIS America]], they opted to use the more faithful Creator/{{Animax}} dub instead, leaving Nelvana's dub in the limbo. Additionally, several series have been fully rescued from this status, thanks to their [=YouTube=] channels uploading all the episodes, including a number that never got any other forms of release.
* MooseAndMapleSyrup: Often used in the form of such things as characters sporting clothing with maple leaves or playing sports such as hockey. Also that most of the voice actors have a Canadian accent. More prominent in some series than others, with ''WesternAnimation/JacobTwoTwo'', ''WesternAnimation/BeingIan'', and ''WesternAnimation/{{Braceface}}'' being some of the more notable cases.
* NoExportForYou: Unless you manage to find a helpful [[KeepCirculatingTheTapes Canadian friend]] or access on the Internet, just forget about seeing certain series, or in some cases, certain episodes of some series. For example, Creator/NickJr still does not carry every episode of ''Literature/{{Franklin}}'' (Nick's rights to the show were expired in the 2010s) and only rarely airs certain episodes of ''WesternAnimation/MissSpidersSunnyPatchFriends'' and/or took a long time to import them. Also, many dubs or episodes (even full seasons) of Nelvana's shows are inaccessible from their [=YouTube=] channels in the US.
* OnlySoManyCanadianActors:
** There's surprisingly very little crossover between Nelvana's [=VAs=] and the ''Franchise/{{Degrassi}}'' pool of Canadian youth actors. A notable exception would be Creator/NoahReid who voiced a number of Nelvana cartoon characters and did a guest shot on ''Degrassi: The Next Generation''. Subverted among the Canadian voice acting pool itself, as these actors occasionally will be cast alongside the ones used in Vancouver and Montreal-recorded productions and vice-versa.
** Due to the relatively small pool of Canadian voice acting, many of the same Toronto-based voice actors pop up time and time again in their animated series (''WesternAnimation/BeingIan'', ''WesternAnimation/ClassOfTheTitans'', and ''WesternAnimation/HotWheelsBattleForce5'' are notable exceptions, as they use Vancouver-based voice actors. ''Cardcaptors'' likewise was recorded using Vancouver actors, serving as the only anime they licensed to do so). Many of their talent also ends up being shared with other Canadian studios that do a lot of animated works or American studios that use Toronto-based actors.
* ProductionPosse:
** Has worked with Creator/WangFilmProductions, Creator/HanhoHeungUp, and Creator/JadeAnimation (among others) on most of their shows.
** Nelvana also has common bonds with Creator/{{Nickelodeon}}, most notably providing animation for ''WesternAnimation/TheBackyardigans'' and ''WesternAnimation/BubbleGuppies'', distributing some of their shows in Canada, and owning the international rights of ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'' until season 5. Nick has likewise aired quite a few of Nelvana's in-house productions.
** Given that they're owned by [[Creator/CorusEntertainment the same company]], the Canadian networks Creator/{{YTV}}, [[Creator/{{TreehouseTV}} Treehouse]], and Creator/{{Teletoon}} have a long history of commissioning shows from Nelvana. Due to their needs for shows that fulfill Canadian content laws, many Nelvana series have debuted on these channels as original productions, such as ''WesternAnimation/{{Braceface}}'', ''WesternAnimation/DiGataDefenders'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Detentionaire}}'', ''WesternAnimation/MaxAndRuby'', ''WesternAnimation/RubyGloom'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Spliced}}'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Grossology}}'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Sidekick}}'', and ''WesternAnimation/ScaredySquirrel''. In fact, Nelvana was even one of the main companies involved in the establishment of Teletoon.
* RecycledSoundtrack: They reuse music for a lot of their shows. You can find their soundtracks for free [[https://search.upright-music.com/libraries/e1d916fb-f3da-42e2-b41a-0b8b1c291f31/nojs here]].
* RereleasedForFree: A significant chunk of their library has been released for free streaming on [=YouTube=] (mainly for Canadians) and Tubi TV (mainly for Americans), including both popular and acclaimed series, as well as more obscure {{Cult Classic}}s. They also run for the official Youtube channels for several properties, having uploaded episodes of those shows there for viewing.
* SaturdayMorningCartoon: They did quite a bit of work in the 90s making these kinds of cartoons for American networks in need of a boost to their lineups, notably Creator/{{CBS}}, which had an entire Saturday morning lineup composed solely of Nelvana cartoons in the late 90s.
* SliceOfLife: Well known for their frequent venturing into this genre, having produced many during the 90s and Early 2000s. Many of their cartoons (especially those aimed for preschoolers) are known for having a calm, gentle pacing with a laidback tone and atmosphere that lets the series breathe as it follows the day-to-day lives of the main characters. Even some of their zanier or more action-heavy series maintain this degree of calmness to some extent.
* StudioToTheRescue: Nelvana picked up a rejected 2013 pilot from Creator/{{Nickelodeon}}'s [[WesternAnimation/NickelodeonAnimatedShortsProgram animated shorts program]] called "Monster Pack" and made it into a full series called ''WesternAnimation/OlliesPack'' in 2020.
* UnPerson:
** The series list Nelvana's website tends to not acknowledge any shows that they have no distribution rights to anywhere. For instance, the ''WesternAnimation/AceVenturaPetDetective'' cartoon, ''WesternAnimation/EekTheCat'', and ''WesternAnimation/FamilyDog'' are excluded due to them being commissioned works, while any productions currently owned by other studios (such as the ''WesternAnimation/{{Beetlejuice}}'' cartoon) are also not mentioned. However, some series like ''WesternAnimation/TheBackyardigans'' are included due to Nelvana owning non-US rights).
** Some shows that were once listed on the company's site, such as ''WesternAnimation/CareBears1980s'' and the English dubs of ''[[Manga/CardcaptorSakura Cardcaptors]]'', the first incarnations of the ''Franchise/{{Beyblade}}'' series, and ''Anime/{{Medabots}}'', were ultimately removed when Nelvana's rights to them expired.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** They came extremely close to doing an animated version of ''Series/DoctorWho'' during the live-action series' 1980s hiatus, but it was sadly canned due to the Creator/{{BBC}} pulling the plug on it at the last minute. A number of concept images can easily be found online, [[http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/tardis/images/3/3f/Nelvana_Doctor_Who_3.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20100315053349 showing a Doctor with a]] [[ComicBookFantasyCasting strong resemblance]] to Creator/ChristopherLloyd, but with a costume similar to Creator/TomBaker's, a FlyingCar Bessie, and a K-9 who could [[TransformingMecha transform]] into a Gladstone bag.
** They were offered a chance of work on the 1981 animated anthology film ''WesternAnimation/HeavyMetal'', but declined to instead produce ''WesternAnimation/RockAndRule''.
** In 1993, they signed a deal with Creator/ParamountPictures to produce animated films, including {{Animated Adaptation}}s of ''Literature/TheTrumpetOfTheSwan'', ''Literature/TheThiefOfAlways'', and ''Literature/TheSignOfTheSeahorse'', as well as an original production called ''Mask Vision'', but none of those films ever made it past the finishing stage.
** The success of ''WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfTintin1991'' led to considerations for Nelvana to produce a feature-length animated movie starring the character. However, these were scrapped when word got around that Creator/StevenSpielberg was working on a similar idea at the same time (which finally came into fruition with the 2011 ''WesternAnimation/{{The Adventures of Tintin|2011}}'' movie).
** They tried to get an AnimatedAdaptation of the ''Literature/LittleCritter'' books off the ground during the 2000s. They managed to get a few scripts out, but ultimately failed to get anything else made before passing off the rights for the adaptation to Creator/NineStoryMediaGroup in 2016.
** They also had plans to create an AnimatedAdaptation of the 1998 ''Film/DrDolittle'' movie starring Creator/EddieMurphy during the early 2000s. Some conceptual art was done with help from Wack Wack Animation, but ultimately nothing ever came out of the project beyond that.
** In 2000, Nelvana announced that they would launch 2 channels by 2004 - the first being The Nelvana Channel that would simply air Nelvana's production library, and the second being a channel exclusively for {{Animated Adaptation}}s of adult and children's literature called Booknet. However, neither of these projects ever materialized and the television licenses Nelvana had acquired for launching the channels expired soon after.
