[[http://www.hong-ying.com.cn/link/setcn.html?type=en Hong Ying Animation Co., Ltd.]] (also known as Hong Ying Universe Co., Ltd.) is a Taiwanese animation studio that since 1992, [[http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/feat/archives/2003/04/13/0000201952 has operated mostly out of its Chinese satellite studio]]. It was located in Taipei, Taiwan. In addition to the main Taipei studio, the company also has subsidiaries in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China (Suzhou Hong Ying, established in 1992), Shanghai, China (Shanghai Sanding, established in 2002), Beijing, China (Beijing Hongguantianxia, established in 2003), Tokyo, Japan (Tokyo Hong Ying, established in 2004) and Nanjing, Jiangsu, China (Nanjing Hong Ying, established in 2006), as well as overseas animation business offices in Los Angeles, California, USA (established in 1997) and Paris, France (established in 1999). It was founded by Bobby Hsieh in 1986 as Hung Long Animation Company; at the time, it was a subcontractor to Creator/WangFilmProductions. After working on a few of Wang's shows, they soon gained an identity of their own, working on a number of cartoons (especially those from [=DiC=]), and later providing support of Anime. Sometime during the mid '90s, they changed their name to Hong Ying. There is another studio called Hong Yang (or Suzhou Hong Yang Cartoon), but it appears to be the same studio as Hong Ying, as Hong Ying lists Hong Yang-animated shows on [[https://web.archive.org/web/20050217113558/http://www.hong-ying.com/hy-eng-home/html_site/portfolio.html its website.]]

They are pretty much best known for providing animation for some very [[DerangedAnimation trippy]] shows. That's not to say that's all they do. When they aren't doing weird stuff, they're doing animation for some more realistic shows.

!!Tropes found in Hong Ying's work:
* AllCGICartoon: Several of their recent works.
* AnimationBump: ''WesternAnimation/{{Chowder}}'', although the extreme MediumBlending in that show may help.
* ArtShift: The company has since shifted their production workflow over to Flash and CGI from traditional 2D animation.
* DerangedAnimation: ''Chowder'', and ''The Wacky World of Tex Avery'' all had some of these moments.
* HowTheMightyHaveFallen: [=DIC=] going out of business wasn't good for them.
* LimitedAnimation: A lot of their earlier [=DIC=] work.
