Clarence John "Clancy" Brown III (born January 5, 1959 in Urbana, Ohio) is an American screen and voice actor from Ohio. He is the [[{{Typecasting}} go-to guy]] when you need a tough guy, {{Jerkass}}, [[TheChessmaster Chessmaster]], or a [[WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants money hungry crab]].

Brown's distinctive and versatile voice has given him a luxurious voice acting career, although you can still see him in a variety of smaller roles in live-action movies and television. Despite his reputation for playing TheHeavy, Brown's coworkers have often cited him as [[MeanCharacterNiceActor the warmest, most kind-hearted, most sensitive guy on the planet.]]
----
!!Tropes:
* EvilIsBigger: He plays a lot of villains and stands at an imposing 6'3.
* EvilSoundsDeep: One of the most prolific villain actors in the business.
* EvilSoundsRaspy: His famous voice is incredibly deep and gravelly.
* GentleGiant: Clancy Brown is very tall, at 6'3, but despite often portraying villains, antagonists or amoral characters, he's a kind and sensitive man in real life.
* InkSuitActor: [[VideoGame/StarWarsBountyHunter Montross]], [[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Governor Azadi]], [[VideoGame/MassEffectAndromeda Alec Ryder]], and [[VideoGame/DetroitBecomeHuman Lt. Hank Anderson]] all look like him. In the case of Azadi, he would later portray the character in live-action in the SequelSeries to Star Wars Rebels; ''Series/{{Ahsoka}}''.
* {{Jerkass}}: He specializes in playing arrogant, sadistic, short-tempered and just overall deeply unpleasant people.
* LargeHam: He can always be counted on to leave teeth marks in the scenery, especially when playing villains.
* MeanCharacterNiceActor: He often portrays villains or amoral characters, but as described by his colleagues, he's a good man.
* PlayingAgainstType: On occasion, he will play good characters, most notably in ''Film/PromisingYoungWoman'' where he plays a warm, loving father. By all accounts, such performances are ''much'' closer to his real personality.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: His hair has gone completely white in his later years and he's still as good at playing villains as ever.
