->''[[TransformationNameAnnouncement "The great power of hope, Cure Dream!"]]''

An airheaded girl who can't seem to concentrate on just one thing and pretty much talentless and had no idea about what she really wanted, although she believed in the importance of reaching out for her dream. She's a second year student in L'Ecole des Cinq Lumières. She bumped into Coco in her school's library and after an encounter with the Nightmare, she was chosen to become Cure Dream and decided that she's going to restore Coco's Palmier Kingdom and see through it to the end... this time not losing sight of that. Along the journey, as Coco posed as their teacher, Nozomi also discovers her own dream that she'll reach out one day: to become a teacher.
----
* AlmostKiss: [[spoiler:At the end of ''Anime/PowerOfHopePrecureFullBloom'', when she wakes up from a week-long coma, she accepts Coco's marriage proposal and leans in for TheBigDamnKiss... only for the other Cures to enter her hospital room.]]
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: She gets distracted easily. ''The entire series'', as well as its OddlyNamedSequel — happens because Nozomi gets distracted one morning before school and chases a passing butterfly. In a later episode, she displayed more realistic ADHD symptoms. ADHD was never explicitly mentioned, but the intention was clear.
* BadassAdorable: She's a real sweetie and is willing to be friends with almost anyone. She also leads the team to destroying two evil organizations attacking the world.
* BareMidriffsAreFeminine: Nozomi is the girliest in her team and her first Cure outfit is the only one that shows off the belly.
* BerserkButton: Do ''not'' trivialize dreams. Nozomi wasted no time [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech letting Girinma know what a bad idea it is]] in [[Recap/YPC5Ep01ThePrettyCureOfHopeIsBorn the very first episode]], and Otona '''''starts''''' with her approaching anyone she can to save one of her student's dream of dancing.
* BigEater: She'll eat anything in front of her and lots of it.
* BookDumb: She struggles to get even acceptable grades.
* CharacterCatchphrase: [[OnTheNextEpisodeOfCatchphrase "Watch it, watch it, watch it, okay?"]] [[note]]''"Mite, mite, mite, ne?"''[[/note]] and "It's decided!" [[note]]''"Ketteeei!"''[[/note]]
** If she says "Okay!" in the beginning, expect her to finish with, "It's decided!"
* CharacterTics: Whenever she shouts her CharacterCatchphrase, she points upwards with her left hand in a way that her thumb and finger together make a reverse L shape to the viewer.
* CoolTeacher: In ''Otona [=PreCure=] '23'', Nozomi clearly has a positive relationship with her students; not only are they engaged during her lessons, they also to stay after class talking with her about their lives.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: During her daily life she's an idiot that often needs to rely on her friends to get anything done. During battle she's a walking force of destruction, both physically and magically.
* CutenessProximity: Occasionally has this reaction whenever she sees something that's tiny and plushie-like, namely when she first sees Coco's true form and when she first encounters Milk.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Note to the enemy: if you're lucky, you'll have her as an opponent and ultimately be spared. But one word of advice: don't be an OmnicidalManiac, let alone murder your own [[TheDragon Dragon]] as having [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness outlived her usefulness]], because EveryoneHasStandards, even the most forgiving.
* DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife: Nozomi's crux of CharacterDevelopment is this. The reason why she has such a short attention span was because she's always looking for what she wanted to do (getting kicked out of various clubs were because it took her quick enough to realize those are not what she wanted). After meeting Coco and deciding to help the Palmier Kingdom, Nozomi slowly starts to realize that she likes helping people the best and put attention to it, and after a 'tutoring' from Coco and seeing him teach her, she finally realizes her dream to be a teacher, to help those in academical trouble (like she was before).
** This is actually [[CallBack called back]] in ''Anime/PrettyCureAllStars New Stage 3'': she's trapped inside a dream world, living out her dream of being a teacher... and promptly realizes this ''isn't'' what she wants and proceeds to kick herself out of it and kick the other Cures out of their dream worlds in the process! She wants her dream, but she'll get it her own way.
** By ''Otona [=PreCure=] '23'', she's ''living'' that dream in real life, having become a CoolTeacher, teaching deep and mature subjects with a cheerful disposition and the occasional fun aside, while also knowing all her students well enough to be able to at least attempt to help them when problems arise.
* DishingOutDirt: Her primary element, though manifested more subtly and stylistically compared to the other Cures. Her power up attack in the first season is [[GemstoneAssault Crystal Shoot]] while her attack in the second season is Shooting Star (another term for a meteor).
* TheDitz: She's absentminded, and misses the obvious even when its staring right at her, like when she misses Milky Rose's identity right after she transforms into her true form right in front of Nozomi. It is played seriously in one episode where she is aware of this flaw and is not happy at the academic trouble she's had.
* DubNameChange: In the Korean dub, her name is changed to Isoman (이소망).
* DumbassNoMore: Nozomi at the beginning is a scatterbrain ''hopeless'' with everything, be it studying, paying attention, athleticness or whatever. Over time, she starts paying attention more to her studies, resulting in better grades. As of the middle of ''[=GoGo!=]'', she is capable of tutoring Rin's younger siblings. By the time of ''Otona [=PreCure=] '23'', she has become a capable teacher.
* ExpressiveHair: Her hair always shoots up or droops according to her mood.
* GemstoneAssault; Her second attack in the first season is the Crystal Shoot which sends a massive blast of magical pink crystals to defeat the enemy. Unlike the second attacks that the other Cures have, it is completely different from the first one.
* GenkiGirl: Super energetic and hyper.
* GirlishPigtails: She wears some of her hair in two pigtails. She doesn't have them anymore as an adult to look more mature.
* HappilyMarried: [[spoiler:In episode 12 of ''Kibou no Chikara'', a wedding is held in the Palmier Kingdom to show Nozomi and Coco's marriage to each other]].
* HeavySleeper: As part of her ditzy moments, she sleeps a lot.
* HeroicRROD: [[spoiler:The power to transform back into Cure Dream in ''Anime/PowerOfHopePrecureFullBloom'' takes a toll on Nozomi's body, giving her fainting spells. After the final battle, she spends a week unconscious from exhaustion.]]
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Rin. They have been best friends most of their lives and remain so all the way to adulthood.
* IdiotHero: Downplayed as most of it is due to her absentmindedness than anything.
* InterspeciesRomance: [[spoiler:With Coco. Nozomi is a human and Coco is a fairy who resembles a fox, but he can take human form.]]
* JumpedAtTheCall: She immediately accepts her role as a Pretty Cure from the first episode.
* TheLeader: She's the headstrong and charismatic leader of the team. The other Cures unanimously chose her to fill this role because she was the one that brought them together to be Pretty Cure in the first place. Not that she'll claim she's the leader and she thinks they don't need one anyway.
* LethalChef: Her cooking just isn't good.
* LoserFriendPuzzlesOutsiders: Nozomi is the loser friend in this case, and everyone in school, especially Mika Masuko, is perplexed by how the four most popular girls in the school seem to have coalesced into a friend group centered around this one unimpressive girl who is a notoriously useless screwup that got booted out of every club.
* MeaningfulName: Nozomi = 'hope', 'Yume' = dream. Also doubles as a PropheticName. One episode of ''Precure Full Bloom'' even lampshades this, as its title is "Nozomi no Nozomi" ("Nozomi's Hope").
* MundaneUtility: At first, she wanted to use the Dream Collet to... get her homework done!
* TheNoseKnows: Her nose is so good that she can smell crépe's smell on a little part of a flyer.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: You know a villain has crossed the line you don't ever come back from when this AllLovingHero has zero sympathy whatsoever for said villain.
* PinkHeroine: She's the main heroine of the series and as Cure Dream, she has pink hair and wears pink.
* PluckyGirl: Nozomi will ''never'' give into despair. Even when she's '''''forced''''' into a state of crippling despair in ''Otona [=PreCure=] '23'', she refuses to give in.
* PowerMakesYourHairGrow: When she turns into Cure Dream, her hair goes from neck length to mid back length.
* PowerMakesYourVoiceDeep: She's one of the few Cures of the franchise whose voice gets deeper upon transformation.
* ThePowerOfLove: She breaks Coco out of his brainwashing with the power of her feelings for him.
* PrecociousCrush: She has a crush on Coco, whose human form looks significantly older than her. [[spoiler:It's eventually reciprocated, and as of ''Anime/PowerOfHopePrecureFullBloom'', her story ends at her wedding to Coco.]]
* RoseHairedSweetie: She is the first one in the franchise, starting the trend of having optimistic pink-haired girls as the main characters.
* SenseiChan: In ''Otona [=PreCure=] '23'', Nozomi has a friendly relationship with her students and tries to encourage them to follow their dreams.
* StockShoujoHeroine: She's the typical shoujo anime heroine; ditzy, childish, and clumsy RoseHairedSweetie with a big heart and a bright perspective. She has magic powers related to hope and dreams.
* SuperCuteSuperPowers: Her attacks are buttlerfly-shaped beams.
* TaremeEyes: More blatantly so than anybody else.
* TeacherStudentRomance: [[spoiler:Her PrecociousCrush on Coco, who works as a teacher at her middle school, is eventually reciprocated. The sequel anime, ''Anime/PowerOfHopePrecureFullBloom'', even ends with their marriage.]]
* ThisLoserIsYou: At least at first, as she's extremely scatterbrained and can't seem to concentrate. However, by the time CharacterDevelopment kicks in, Nozomi starts moving away from this, as she becomes more responsible and tries her best to reach out for her dreams.
** Also unlike [[Anime/HeartcatchPrettyCure Tsubomi]] later, Nozomi kind of subverts this. When she becomes Cure Dream, she didn't flail around like a clueless ditz, she was pretty capable into immediately getting into combat. It's just that when she's just Nozomi that she's sucking in life (until CharacterDevelopment above).
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Girly girl to Rin's tomboy. She's the more obviously girly and cutesy of the two.
* TropeCodifier: Yumehara Nozomi is both similar and different to her predecessors [[Anime/FutariWaPrettyCure Misumi Nagisa]] and [[Anime/FutariWaPrettyCureSplashStar Hyuuga Saki]]. However she is “what Toei wants” for their Pretty Cure PinkHeroine [[TheProtagonist protagonists]]. Nozomi is a middle-school BookDumb GenkiGirl with a sense of justice. Until CharacterDevelopment kicks in, Nozomi has no goal in life. She [[JumpedAtTheCall Jumps At The Call]], she has no friends that are not relevant to the plot, her family have no real presence in her life. She also has no real athletic abilities. Nozomi is also neither officially the leader nor the strongest on the team, just TheHero and the one most prominent.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Milk/Kurumi. They argue a lot, but they become eventually close friends.
* VocalEvolution: In earlier episodes, Nozomi and Cure Dream had much deeper voices, but they eventually become higher after a couple of episodes, to the point that Cure Dream's pitch never gets as deep as the original Nozomi voice again.
* WideEyedIdealist: She firmly believes people shouldn't give up on their dreams no matter what. ''Otona [=PreCure=] '23'' shows she still tries having this mindset as an adult, even though she has to face the reality that there's limits to what she can do for her students as a teacher and unlike when she was a Pretty Cure, there are things that are impossible for her to do.

[[folder:Rin Natsuki ('''Cure Rouge''')]]
!!!Voiced by: Creator/JunkoTakeuchi (Japanese), Creator/GaiaBolognesi (Italian)
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/body_rouge.png]]
[[caption-width-right:300:[[labelnote:Click here to see Rin in ''[=GoGo=]!'']]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cure_rouge_gogo.png]][[/labelnote]]
[[caption-width-right:300:[[labelnote:Click here to see Rin in ''Otona [=PreCure=] '23'']]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rin_natsuki_adult.png]][[/labelnote]]
->''"The red flame of passion, Cure Rouge!"''
Nozomi's best friend since childhood. She becomes Cure Rouge after witnessing Nozomi fighting as Cure Dream.
----
* BestFriend: Rin is Nozomi's oldest and closest friend in the team.
* {{Bifauxnen}}: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. The adult Rin Natsuki keeps the BoyishShortHair (albeit slightly longer) and wears suspenders, making her look androgynous but not outright masculine.
* BigEater: She enjoys lots of food. She won't hesitate to dig in and finish her meals.
* BoyishShortHair: She's the tomboy of the group and to show it, her hair is very short both her civilian and Cure forms. It's a little longer as an adult, but still only about shoulder-length.
* CantHoldHerLiquor: As an adult, Rin and alcohol is a cursed combination as she turns into a MoodSwinger; cheerful one moment, a SentimentalDrunk the next.
* ChildhoodFriends: She has been best friends with Nozomi since elementary school.
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: Her relationship with Nozomi is essentially her reigning in the latter when she loses focus.
* CoolBigSis: She can act as an older sister to Nozomi. It helps Rin has two actual younger siblings.
* DeadpanSnarker: Delivers serious deadpan whenever comical situations kick in.
* DubNameChange: In the Korean dub, her name is changed to Na Hye-rin.
* ElementalEyeColors: As Cure Rouge, she has red eyes as a result of gaining fire powers.
* ElementalHairColors: When she's Cure Rouge, her hair turns red and is shaped like a flame. Of course, her power is fire.
* FieryRedhead: She has orange hair as a civilian, red hair as a Cure, and a bad temper all around.
* GirlinessUpgrade: By the time of ''Otona [=PreCure=] '23'', Rin now designs jewelry, let her hair grow longer, and dresses in a more feminine style.
* GratuitousFrench: Rouge means red.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: She has been Nozomi's closest and dearest friend for most of their lives. They stay close all the way to adulthood.
* TheLancer: She's the main heroine's BestFriend and {{Foil}}. Rin is down-to-earth and slightly sarcastic compared to Nozomi, but they're best friends and Rin worries about her greatly.
* PassionateSportsGirl: She's good at every sports, but decided to concentrate on soccer/futsal.
* PlayingWithFire: As Cure Rouge, she has the power to produce fire.
* RedIsHeroic: She's the first red Cure, and she's one of the strongest members of her team.
* RefusalOfTheCall: At first, she didn't want to get involved with such crazy thing like being part of a MagicalGirl team, but later changed her mind out of worry for Nozomi.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: She's a sporty tomboy, in contrast to her more obviously girly best friend Nozomi.
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: Despite her tomboyish exterior, Rin also indulges in feminine hobbies. She likes flowers, knows a lot about them and she wants to become an accessory designer.
* TwoFirstNames: Her surname Natsuki can also be a given name.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Orange juice.
* TsurimeEyes: Downplayed in civilian form, but played fully straight in Cure form. The transition is reminiscent of [[Anime/FutariWaPrettyCure Nagisa's transformation into Cure Black]].
* VitriolicBestBuds: She and Karen don't really get along as friends but they still watch out for each other.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Afraid of ghosts and assorted horror stories.

[[folder:Urara Kasugano ('''Cure Lemonade''')]]
!!!Voiced by: Creator/MariyaIse (Japanese), Barbara Pitotti (Italian)
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/body_lemonade.png]]
[[caption-width-right:300:[[labelnote:Click here to see Urara in ''[=GoGo=]!'']]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cure_lemonade_gogo.png]][[/labelnote]]
[[caption-width-right:300:[[labelnote:Click here to see Urara in ''Otona [=PreCure=] '23'']]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/urara_kasugano_adult.png]][[/labelnote]]
->''"The effervescence of bursting lemon, Cure Lemonade!"''
A freshman in L'Ecole des Cinq Lumières school and an idol in training. Due to her busy schedule, Urara usually kept to herself, and her shy attitude doesn't help, although when situation calls it, she can ham things up. However, Nozomi barges into her life trying to befriend her and after an encounter with the Nightmare, her desire to protect her new friends led her to become Cure Lemonade. Afterwards, with her new friends, Urara began her journey not just as a Pretty Cure, but also evolving into a world-class idol.
----
* AccidentalHero: In the first movie, [[spoiler:she's the reason the villain's plan failed because she never handed the pink the BigBad needed to finally accomplish his plans.]]
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: Being a first-year middle school student, Urara is the youngest member of the team.
* BadassAdorable: Super cute and able to smash Kowainaas as a Pretty Cure.
* BigEater: Probably the reigning champion in the show! Notably, in Otona, it's this very trait being downplayed which makes Syrup think [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness something is wrong with her]].
* ButNotTooForeign: Urara's father is French, but her mother was Japanese.
* TheCameo: Appears in ''[[Anime/PrettyCureAllStars Pretty Cure Miracle Leap]]'' as the leading lady of [[Anime/StarTwinklePrettyCure P.P. Abraham's]] latest movie. This comes before her and the rest of the ''Yes'' Cures in TheMovie for ''Anime/HealinGoodPrettyCure''.
* ChainPain: In ''Go Go'', her attack Prism Chain creates two chains made of butterflies that come out of her arms and acts as her weapon.
* ComfortFood: Curry Rice. [[spoiler:This is because one of few memories Urara has of her mother was the first time she ate curry, and it was with the whole family together.]]
* CuteBruiser: She's adorable and beats the daylights out of the villains she faces.
* DualWielding: Her Prism Chain attack always has two chains.
* DubNameChange: In the Korean dub, her name is Kim Cho-won.
* DumbBlonde: While she's more studious than Nozomi, she's just as likely as her to realize obvious things too late.
* FriendlessBackground: Because of her busy lifestyle as an actress, she had no friends when she started middle school.
* GenkiGirl: She's very energetic and cheerful, though not to Nozomi's extent.
* GirlishPigtails: She wears her hair in a pair of pigtails, showing her status as the youngest team member.
* GlassesOfAging: She is shown wearing glasses in ''Otona Precure 23'', whereas when in middle school, she wasn't wearing them. They could be PurelyAestheticGlasses, however, as she's just as frequently shown with them off and they're shown to be part of a disguise.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: She's a sweet and cheerful young girl with blonde hair.
* IdolSinger: She is already an up-and-coming star when the series begins.
* {{Image Song}}s: Sure, all of the Cures get them, but she gets to sing hers in-universe.
* LargeHam: If she feels like it, she could ham her words up. After all, she's an actress.
* LightEmUp: As Cure Lemonade, her main element is light. Yellow is often associated with light, or even the sun.
* MissingMom: Urara's mother Maria died when she was very little. A regular source of despair for Urara is how little she remembers of her mother.
* NeverGetsDrunk: Despite drinking the same amount of alcohol as Kurumi in Episode 2 of ''Kibou no Chikara'', Urara is able to hold her liquor better than her seniors who also ordered alcoholic drinks.
* NewTransferStudent: She arrives at the main cast's school as a transfer student.
* NonUniformUniform: Her Cure outfit in the first season. While Mint and Aqua are mostly palette swaps of each other, and Dream and Rouge are similar to each other with some small differences, Lemonade's outfit has a different skirt, sleeves, shoes, and socks than the other four. She's also the only one to wear a ribbon choker.
* PaperThinDisguise: As an adult, Urara chooses to hide her identity as an actress by disguising herself... with a hat and a pair of glasses. Amazingly, no one comments.
* RaisedByDudes: After the death of her mother, Urara was brought up by her father and maternal grandfather.
* ScrewYourself: [[spoiler:Her EnemyWithout in episode 23 ''flirts'' with her! Really!]]
* ShipTease: With Syrup. Unlike Nozomi and Coco, Urara and Syrup aren't an official romantic pairing, but they're close and have enough hints to imply they could be more than friends.
* TaremeEyes: Has eyes that sag a little at the ends and is overall cute and compassionate.

[[folder:Komachi Akimoto ('''Cure Mint''')]]
!!!Voiced by: Ai Nagano (Japanese), Eleonora Reti (Italian)
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/body_mint.png]]
[[caption-width-right:300:[[labelnote:Click here to see Komachi in ''[=GoGo=]!'']]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cure_mint_gogo.png]][[/labelnote]]
[[caption-width-right:300:[[labelnote:Click here to see Komachi in ''Otona [=PreCure=] '23'']]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/komachi_akimoto_adult.png]][[/labelnote]]
->''"The green earth of tranquility, Cure Mint!"''
A third-year student of L'Ecole des Cinq Lumières and usually volunteers to manage the library. Komachi is the daughter of the head of a famed sweets shop. She's calm and assuring, but is pretty scary when she snaps. She's also a novel writer, thus easily getting excited over unnatural things. This 'unnatural thing interest' led her to follow Nozomi, witness the Nightmare, and becomes Cure Mint. Aside of her being a Precure, Komachi also got her novel reviewed by Nuts, also developing a crush on him.
----
* BadassBookworm: She loves to read and kicks ass as a Cure.
* BarrierWarrior: Her main power as Cure Mint is producing a green dome to protect anyone inside of it.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: When Karen was getting harassed by students about her StudentCouncilPresident duties, Komachi just slammed her fists to the table and started scolding the students. Later, when Hadenya gets a bit too far in evilness, all of the sudden, Komachi bodyblocks her, [[NoSell parries all her punches]] then turned her barrier into a KamehameHadoken to obliterate Hadenya.
* TheBigGirl: The big bruiser of the team and about the tallest in the group.
* BroodingBoyGentleGirl: She has this dynamic with Nuts. Komachi is very kindhearted and patient, allowing her to get through Nuts' rough and aloof attitude.
* CuteBookworm: She's a gentle girl who loves books and wants to become a novelist.
* DeadlyDisc: Her Emerald Saucer attack creates a disc that acts as her weapon.
* DishingOutDirt: Komachi has the power of earth. The sturdy nature of the element by her barrier moves.
* DubNameChange: In the Korean dub, her name is Park Ha-neul.
* TheHeart: As the Cure of Tranquility, she often tries to calm the others in a pinch.
* HerCodeNameWasMarySue: One of her first novels bases the couple on herself and Nuts.
* InterspeciesRomance: She's crushing on Nuts, whose true form looks like a chipmunk.
* KamehameHadoken: Emerald Saucer from ''Go Go''. In the first season, she could also fire a huge green energy beam out of her Mint Shield if she wanted to or she could use the dome itself as a blast attack.
* MotherlySidePlait: In ''Otona Precure 23'', Komachi now wears her hair in a loose ponytail over her left shoulder, complementing her mature and nurturing nature.
* NightmareFetishist: She enjoys telling ghost stories.
* PowerMakesYourHairGrow: The tails at the back of her hair are much longer when she's Cure Mint.
* PrecociousCrush: She's a teenager and has a crush on Nuts, whose human form looks like a young man.
* SiblingYinYang: Komachi is gentle and soft-spoken while her older sister Madoka is wilder. Since they look alike so much, her friends are shocked when Madoka first appears riding a motorcycle and everybody thinks she's Komachi.
* StoneWall: Her personal moves are completely focused on maximum defense though later on she gains the ability to use the shields offensively too.
* TaremeEyes: They droop at the ends and she's all-round friendly and docile.
* TranquilFury: Well, she is the Cure of Tranquility and [[BewareTheNiceOnes you know how she became into when she is serious]].
** Try to see first season episode 43 when she fights Hadenya.
** Joked in 4koma [[http://pds2.exblog.jp/pds/1/200703/02/79/e0041679_21594817.jpg here]]
* WritersBlock: ''Otona Precure 23'' shows Komachi hasn't been able to write a new novel as of late, even though one of her works won an award.
* YellowEarthGreenEarth: She has the ability to create earth-empowered green shields and use them offensively and defensively.

->''"The blue spring of intelligence, Cure Aqua!"''
A third-year student of L'Ecole des Cinq Lumières and the StudentCouncilPresident. At first she thinks the Pretty Cure thing is a farce, but was forced to believe it when the Nightmare invaded her house. But then she failed to become a Pretty Cure due to her 'do-things-herself' mindset. Despite so, Nozomi continued to bug her about becoming a Pretty Cure, and after realizing that she wants to protect her friends, Karen is able to become Cure Aqua. During the course of the series, she develops a rapport with Milk and discovers her dream to help those who are sick, and she starts learning on how to become a doctor.
----
* AdventureRebuff: In the beginning she thought of becoming Cure Aqua just because she thinks in the end, to do it right, she can't depend on anyone if she wants to do things right... resulting in her butterfly ''vanishing'' and forcing her to watch Bunbee trounce the Cures and get away with the Pinky. It's only after her resolve was to protect her friends instead of doing things herself that she can transform.
* AloofArcher: Gains the "Pretty Cure Sapphire Arrow" eventually, and being the Cure of Intelligence she mostly keeps her calm, cool, collected persona. In a subversion, that attack is usually reserved for finishing blows, she usually resorts into pummelling the enemy with fists and feet before that happens.
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: Aside of being the tallest of the group and her dark blue hair stand out, in the beginning, she presents herself as the aloof, serious, stoic (albeit caring) girl. She mellows down after becoming a Cure, but the element is still there.
* AmbiguouslyGay: Unlike her friends she did not show interest in any boy, and instead has a PseudoRomanticFriendship with Milk.
* BigEater: Funniest thing, she's so ''ladylike'' when she eats all of her food.
* BigFancyHouse: She basically lives in some sort of a mansion, owing to her family's wealth.
* BlueMeansSmartOne: Karen is the StudentCouncilPresident of her school. As Cure Aqua, she is the Pretty Cure of Intelligence and has the power of [[WaterIsBlue water]]. She also becomes a doctor when she grows up.
* CannotTellAJoke: When the gang goes vacationing in her mountain resort, she tries to joke that her family owns everything in the mountain range; they take her seriously, much to her embarrassment. Jiiya, however, is driven to tears that his mistress is even telling jokes now.
* CrossCastRole: When sent to the Urashima Tarou's world by Shibiretta, Karen got saddled with the role of the titular character, and the kids who 'tortured' the turtle (Milk) refer her as "onii-chan", to her puzzlement.
* DefrostingIceQueen: She starts out as your typical cold, stoic, but LonelyRichKid, opening only to Komachi. Thanks to Nozomi 'barging in' to her life and becoming Cure Aqua, she starts opening up to more people.
* ElementalEyeColors: It's only fitting that the Pretty Cure of water has blue eyes.
* ElementalHairColors: She's the Pretty Cure of water and has long, flowing blue hair even her civilian form.
* GeniusBruiser: Aqua's obviously got the brains, being the Cure of Intelligence and all, but she's also packing in brawn as well, especially when it comes to her sword fighting bouts with Hadenya and Dark Aqua.
* KnightInShiningArmor: Plays this role in episode 34 (which even has in its title "White Knight Karen"). In order to protect Milk, she sword-fights Hadenya while riding a white horse.
* LadyOfWar: Cool and graceful, she later gains an attack in which she gracefully fires an arrow made of water.
* LonelyRichKid: Her parents do a lot of concert tours, so she only lives with her butler at her mansion. Before joining the Pretty Cure team, Komachi was her OnlyFriend.
* MageMarksman: When using "Sapphire Arrow" she creates a bow and arrows made of water.
* MasterSwordswoman: She can create a blue energy sword out of her Aqua Ribbon and she is incredibly skilled at wielding it.
* MakingASplash: As Cure Aqua, her attacks are all made of water.
* MultiShot: She's capable of doing this with her Sapphire Arrow.
* NewPowersAsThePlotDemands: Her Aqua Ribbon gains a sword form for the horseback duel with Hadeenya.
* {{Ojou}}: Karen has a no-nonsense, stoic personality that evokes a cool aura and made her popular, not to mention she's ridiculously rich.
* PowerMakesYourHairGrow: When she turns into Cure Aqua, her hair goes from mid back length to possibly hip length although it's hard to tell because of the ponytail.
* PseudoRomanticFriendship: With Milk/Kurumi. They become very close and are very affectionate with each other, even as adults.
* RefusalOfTheCall: At first, after failing to transform.
* StudentCouncilPresident: A lot of her episodes in the first season have her duties as the head of the student council as a focus.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: She's very serious, collected, and focused. Her Pretty Cure teammates and Milk see her warm side.
* SwissArmySuperpower: Her Aqua Ribbon upgrade from the first season doubles as her special move (Aqua Tornado) and a sword made of water.
* TookALevelInCheerfulness: She becomes a lot livelier after joining the team.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Grape juice.
* TrueBlueFemininity: She's the graceful {{Ojou}} of the group and blue is her color in clothes, hair, and eyes.
* TsurimeEyes: Her sharp eye shape reflect her cool and serious character.
* VitriolicBestBuds: She and Rin don't rub on each other warmly but they always ensure they're fine.
* WaterIsBlue: Her color as the Pretty Cure of water is blue.
* WaterIsWomanly: She's a calm, elegant {{Ojou}} with water powers and a blue ColorMotif.
* YamatoNadeshiko: Despite her westernized style or wealth, Karen is pretty much the closest one we can get, she's loyal and protective to her friends and will bet on everything to defend them and her home. Also, her 'dream marriage' scenario is also the only one that follows the traditional style.

->''"The blue rose is my secret emblem! Milky Rose!"''
A rabbit-like mascot who is Coco and Natt's caretaker but has no ability to assume a human form. Initially unscrupulous around the Yes Pretty Cure 5 team, she slowly warms up to them. In Yes Pretty Cure 5 [=GoGo=], she picks up a Blue Rose seed which granted her a human form and the power to become Milky Rose.
----
* ActionGirl: She has enough combat prowess to send the MonstersOfTheWeek packing.
* AloofAlly: As Milky Rose, she initially acts mysterious around the girls, who are unsure whether she is their ally or enemy. She later joins the team properly.
* AscendedExtra: In ''Yes! 5'', she only lends the Pretty Cures her power for their ultimate FinishingMove. In ''[=Yes! 5 GoGo=]'', she gains human form and becomes a Pretty Cure.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: When first introduced, Milk claims about feigning vulnerability and pity so she gets taken in and fed with free food... and then leave without being noticed, rinse and repeat ("They're all such suckers!"). Though she quickly got over this one.
* CantHoldHerLiquor: In ''Kibou no Chikara'' Episode 2, Kurumi starts seeing things such as multiple Uraras when drinking alcohol. In the next episode, she downs several glasses of Big Apple (a brandy mixer with apples as the main ingredient) and gets so wasted, Karen has to bring her home.
* ClingyJealousGirl: She often gets jealous when Nozomi gets Coco's attention.
* EasilyElected: [[spoiler:At the end of ''Anime/PowerOfHopePrecureFullBloom'', Milk declares herself Prime Minister of the Palmier Kingdom, and gains a significant amount of popular support. It's unclear how much political power she actually has, though, as the show ends with Coco's marriage to Nozomi and both of them are wearing crowns.]]
* FinishingMove: "Blizzard" and "Metal Blizzard". She can only use one FinishingMove per transformation.
* FlorenceNightingaleEffect: In episode 34, Karen takes care of a sick Milk, making them become closer. Milk still treasures the memory of Karen nursing her many years later.
* FlowerMotifs: Milky Rose is represented by the blue rose, which symbolizes dreams come true and luck.
* FlowersOfNature: Since she has flower-based powers, Milky Rose wears a vine-like headdress decorated with a blue rose.
* GirlishPigtails: As Milky Rose, a portion of her hair is held up in a pair of twintails. Fitting for her {{Tsundere}} traits.
* GirlsLoveChocolate: She really likes chocolate.
* LateArrivalSpoiler: In ''[=Yes! 5 GoGo=]'', it soon becomes common knowledge that Milk is the new Pretty Cure, Milky Rose.
* LazyAlias: In her transformed state, she calls herself '''Milk'''y Rose yet almost nobody was able to figure out a connection.
* MysteriousProtector: In her time as being an AloofAlly, she doesn't let the girls know she's Milky Rose and instead plays the part of a mysterious new Pretty Cure who randomly appears to help them in battle.
* NewTransferStudent: She transfers to the Precure's school.
* OfficeLady: In ''Otona Precure 23'', Kurumi is working as a secretary in a large corporation. Despite her diligence, her MeanBoss always forces her to work overtime. [[spoiler:She eventually [[TakeThisJobAndShoveIt quits]] to run for office in the Palmier Kingdom.]]
* PetalPower: Milky Rose uses blue rose petals to attack.
* PseudoRomanticFriendship: With Karen. They have a loving and protective relationship. Milk admires Karen for her mature and graceful nature and looks up to her. However, as of ''Anime/PowerOfHopePrecureFullBloom'', it could be ''actually'' romantic on Milk's part, as she [[QueerEstablishingMoment tells Karen that she loves her]].
* PurpleIsPowerful: Milky Rose is so powerful that she alone is as strong as the five girls together.
* QueerEstablishingMoment: In episode 3 of ''Anime/PowerOfHopePrecureFullBloom'', Kurumi gets drunk off a "Big Apple" and asks Karen to bring her home. After stealing a LapPillow, she turns back into Milk and tells Karen that she loves apples so much because she fed her applesauce when she was sick, and that she's never forgotten the taste. Then she says "I love you" (''daisuki'').
* SdrawkcabName: Kurumi Mimino = Miruku no mimi = Milk's ears.
* SignatureHeadgear: Her red bow, which she wears on her head in both her fairy form and her human civilian form.
* SixthRanger: Milky Rose is the sixth teammate of the Pretty Cures and her power is different than theirs.
* SomethingAboutARose: While all five Cures have a rose theme in ''[=Yes! 5 GoGo=]'', Milky Rose's power consists entirely of roses.
* SuperStrength: She is much more powerful than any of the five Cures.
* SympathyForTheDevil: [[spoiler:She expresses empathy for Anacondy as she dies, comparing her devotion to Coco and Nuts to Anacondy toward the Director.]]
* TrademarkFavouriteFood: Apples and anything with it as the main ingredient due to the memory of her being fed mashed apples by Karen when she was sick. ''Kibou no Chikara'' Episode 3 shows her light up at the sight of a glass of Big Apple and downs several glasses, though she gets utterly sloshed in the process.
* {{Tsundere}}: Harsh type. She's a strict, no-nonsense type of person, but does care about everyone in the team in her own way.
* VerbalTic: As Milk, she ends her sentences with "-miru."
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Nozomi. They argue a lot, but they become close friends, eventually.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: She can switch between her fairy form and her human form.

* AdorableFluffyTail: In his fairy form, he has a large, puffy, and round tail.
* AlliterativeName: His human name is '''Ko'''koda '''Ko'''uji.
* AlmostKiss: [[spoiler:At the end of ''Anime/PowerOfHopePrecureFullBloom'', when Nozomi wakes up from a week-long coma, he proposes to her and leans in for TheBigDamnKiss... only for the other Cures to enter her hospital room.]]
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: In the ''[=GoGo!=]'' movie, he gets brainwashed by Mushiban.
* ChickMagnet: Girls throw themselves at him, possibly due to this looks.
* ComesGreatResponsibility: "A teacher is for the students! A prince is for the people!" Nuts calls him out on not putting himself first enough.
* EvilCostumeSwitch: After he has been {{Brainwashed}}.
* HappilyMarried: The wedding held at the Palmier Kingdom in episode 12 of ''Kibou no Chikara'' is [[spoiler:his and Nozomi's]].
* HotInHumanForm: He's super attractive to all he sees in his human form.
* HotTeacher: He's considered quite the handsome man in his human form, and he poses as a the Cures' teacher while on Earth.
* InterspeciesRomance: [[spoiler:With Nozomi. She's a human and he's a fairy who resembles a fox, but he can take human form.]]
* NonActionGuy: He doesn't do much during the battle against the foes.
* PrinceCharming: Coco, especially in human form, is this. He's of Palmier nobility, he's heroic, kind and courageous... However, he's in the ''Precure'' series, so he usually gets stuck in getting blown away by the monsters or [[DistressedDude needing the Precures (usually Nozomi) to rescue him]]. Doesn't stop him from trying to stand in the face of danger to protect the Cures and telling the enemy to cease their acts of harm (although it'll usually end up with him getting blown away), which is pretty damn heroic.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: During his brainwashed state, his eyes turn red.
* RedOniBlueOni: In their true forms, Coco is the more expressive and energetic Red Oni to Nuts' cooler Blue Oni.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: While he has little in the way of power, everything he does is to restore the Palmier Kingdom.
* TeacherStudentRomance: [[spoiler:Eventually ends up in one with Nozomi, a student at the school where he worked.]]
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Cream puffs. He loves them so much that he has to do a diet.
* [[UptownGirl Uptown Guy]]: [[spoiler:He's the Prince (and later King) of the Palmier Kingdom, but he ends up marrying Nozomi Yumehara, an ordinary schoolteacher.]]

The Palmier Kingdom's second prince who is trapped in the Dream Collet. After being freed, he is initially distrustful of other. However, he warms up to the Yes Pretty Cure 5 team.
----
* {{Bookworm}}: Coco says he's the biggest reader in the Palmier kingdom.
* BroodingBoyGentleGirl: He forms this dynamic with Komachi. She gets past his rough and aloof attitude with kindness and gentleness.
* BrutalHonesty: He doesn't soften his opinions for the listener's sake. Examples include how he tells Komachi that he thinks her book is weak, and rejecting love letters on the spot.
* CommonalityConnection: He naturally bonds well with Komachi over their shared love for reading.
* CynicismCatalyst: His attempt to help someone who seemed in distress allowed Nightmare to invade the Palmier kingdom. He can't forgive himself for that and it reflects in his worldview and the treatment of the people around him.
* DeadpanSnarker: He shows a sarcastic streak at times.
* HotInHumanForm: Like Coco, he's a plushie-like fairy that transforms into a handsome young man.
* InterspeciesRomance: He's a fairy that looks like a chipmunk and gets {{Ship Tease}}d with the human girl Komachi.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: While he's harsh to everyone around him, he wants nothing more than to save his subjects in the Palmier kingdom.
* NonActionGuy: Like Coco, he doesn't do much fighting during the battle against the foes.
* PrinceCharming: Nuts is pretty much like Coco, but with [[KnightInSourArmor some sour-coating]] [[MyGreatestFailure due to a certain event involving the Nightmare]].
* RedOniBlueOni: The coolheaded and serious Blue Oni to Coco's more expressive Red Oni.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: A prince from the Palmier Kingdom who's trying to find the Pretty Cure to fight Despariah.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The official romanization is "Natts".
* TheStoic: While in human form, he rarely lets his face show emotion.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Mame daifuku, specifically the ones sold at the shop owned by Akimoto family. Unlike Coco and Milk, Nuts does not need to diet because he trains himself everyday.
* VerbalTic: As Nuts, he ends his sentences with "-natsu."

A bird-like delivery fairy who is amnesiac and dreams of the Cure Rose Garden. He intends to search for the Rose Pact to gain access to the garden and cure his amnesia.
----
* CaringGardener: As of ''Anime/PowerOfHopePrecureFullBloom'', Syrup is the caretaker of the Cure Rose Garden and a kind, empathetic young man.
* FlyingPostman: He's a delivery fairy and his job is to send messages.
* GiantFlyer: His larger "plane" form is big enough to carry the Cures on his back.
* [[SheIsAllGrownUp He Is All Grown Up]]: He's much taller and more mature in ''Anime/PowerOfHopePrecureFullBloom'', to the point where [[HotInHumanForm passersby take notice of him]].
* HotInHumanForm: Not to Coco or Nuts's extent, but [[Anime/PowerOfHopePrecureFullBloom his adult self]] has women cooing over him, to the point where they even ignore Urara on his arm.
* ImageSong: "Syrup's Drop", an upbeat rock song where he shows his concern for someone else (implied to be Urara).
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: Due to Anacondy attacking him when he tried to deliver a message to the Director.
* RebelRelaxation: In the first freakin' episode he showed up in. Bonus points for the CherryBlossoms and the ominous lighting.
* ShipTease: With Urara. Unlike Coco with Nozomi and Nuts with Komachi, Syrup's relationship with Urara doesn't turn into a full-blown InterspeciesRomance, but they become close enough to get the idea of it. When they're hanging out together in ''Anime/PowerOfHopePrecureFullBloom'', it's easy to imagine it as a date.
* {{Tsundere}}: Initially, Syrup is distrusting and hostile, but his softer side slowly comes put, especially around Urara.
* VerbalTic: As Syrup, he ends his sentences with "-ropu."
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: He can switch between his fairy form and human form. He can also transform into a gigantic, plane-like version of his fairy form, often used for transportation.

* CultureClash: Coco had no clue that sharing food with Crepe counted as a marriage proposal in her culture.

* [[GenkiGirl Genki Girl and Boy]]: They're so hyperactive they make even Nozomi look sedate.
* HalfIdenticalTwins: As twins, they have the same facial structure, hair colour, and eye colour, but can be told apart by their clothes and hairstyles (Ai's hair is slightly longer and fluffier).

* KingIncognito: None of the students [[spoiler:are aware that she's actually the school principal]]. She prefers it that way, as it lets her [[spoiler:hang around with them without her position of authority getting in the way]].
* OutOfFocus: Becomes ''much'' less prominent in ''Go! Go!'', only appearing once or twice through the whole season.

->''"What the people want to know, I want to know!"''
Chief Editor and lead journalist of the school newspaper, ''Cinq Lumières News''. In fact, she's its ''only'' journalist, or indeed staff member of any kind. She has a keen ear for news, and a dogged determination to uncover the truth whatever it takes. Unfortunately, these qualities often end up landing her in trouble.
-----
* BlindWithoutEm: Episode 18 gives us a brief shot of what her vision is like without her glasses on, and it is ''bad''. This does prove useful when the girls need to transform into Pretty Cure in front of her.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: She's an excellent photographer and has a reporter's instinct for news. On the other hand, her ''editorial'' judgement is terrible, she [[AttentionDeficitOohShiny gets distracted]] ([[DistractedByTheSexy usually by Nuts]]) at the drop of a hat, and her obliviousness to the Cures' true identities would put [[MediaNotes/TheGoldenAgeOfComicBooks Golden Age]] [[Characters/SupermanLoisLane Lois Lane]] to shame.
* ClubPresident: Mika is the president of the journalism club and school newspaper. She's also the ''only'' club member, since her obsessive personality drove everyone else out.
* DesignatedVictim: Whenever Nightmare decide to attack or capture one of the Cures' friends, odds are it'll be Mika.
* DistractedByTheSexy: She has a thing for Nuts, to the point where she'll immediately forget about whatever other story she's pursuing in order to fawn over him.
* FriendlessBackground: Mika has no friends or social circle, since her obsessive nature tends to put people off. Even the other members of the newspaper club all left because they found her impossible to work with. Although [[StepfordSmiler she usually hides it]], she's really very lonely, and in quiet moments sometimes wonders sadly what it would be like to have friends.
* GenkiGirl: Most of the time she's extremely high-energy, and when she's in pursuit of a story can rival Nozomi for sheer reckless enthusiasm. There are hints, however, that she's something of a StepfordSmiler over her lack of friends.
* IntrepidReporter: She sees herself as one. While she has the work ethic, she falls short due to her distractability and questionable judgement of what constitutes actual ''news''.
* OutOfFocus: Mika is a major supporting cast member throughout ''Yes! Pretty Cure 5'', and is a central character in several episodes. However, in ''Go! Go!'' she's relegated to two or three brief scenes, and goes dozens of episodes between appearances. Ironically, she features in ''Go! Go!'''s second ending.
* PunnyName: Intentionally invoked: every time she introduces herself, she insists on pointing out that her name, "Masuko Mika", can be read as "masukomi-ka" -- Japanese for "mass communications professional".
* SelfAppliedNickname: "Masukomi-ka", which she hammily announces whenever she shows up. The only other person to try using it was Nozomi -- which just annoyed Mika, since Nozomi derailed her self-introduction in the process.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: Averted -- she isn't dumb, exactly, but she isn't the sharpest tool in the shed either. However, the way she ostentatiously adjusts her glasses when promoting herself suggests that she very much ''wants'' to invoke this trope.
* WorstNewsJudgmentEver: Whenever she uncovers an actual newsworthy story, odds are she'll end up relegating it to the bottom of the page in favour of promoting one of her pet obsessions.

The first villain to appear in the series. Girinma is one of Bunbee's three subordinates. His true form is a humanoid praying mantis. After many defeats, Bunbee gives him the black card which is actually a black Kowaina mask, and despite risking to lose his personality, he puts the mask on it to prove his loyalty and becomes a Kowaina.
----
* AnimalMotifs: His design is based on a praying mantis.
* BigCreepyCrawlies: He's a villain with a Praying Mantis AnimalMotif.
* DirtyCoward: He doesn't mind ducking out of a pinch and leaving everyone else to suffer.
* KickTheDog: He revels in this. Aside from his eventual turning of Urara's mother's memento into a Kowaiina, he usually likes drilling the fact that Nuts' kindness caused the Nightmare to be able to destroy Palmier Kingdom, reasoning with [[UsefulNotes/VictimBlaming "The one who lets himself get tricked is the wrong one."]]
* MaskOfPower: He puts the black Kowaina mask on his face and transforms into a huge monster in his finale battle.
* NeverMyFault: It's always the Palmier's Kingdom's fault for being gullible, not unlike him, who... you know... makes people suffer with his acts without considering the side effect?
* OneWingedAngel: His Black Mask form turns him into a giant spiky Praying Mantis.
* UndyingLoyalty: For his faults, he's damn loyal to the company, something that Kawarino praised.

Bunbee is the boss of Girinma, Gamao and Arachnea. His true form is a humanoid bee. He suffers from his department's failures and he's often criticized by Kawarino. After Gamao deserted Nightmare and Girinma and Arachnea's deaths, his department is disbanded and he becomes the subordinate of the members of the second department. He confronts Kawarino about his sneaky methods, but he's almost killed by him. After the defeat of Nightmare, he joins Eternal in the sequel, working as a subordinate for several villains, but ultimately leaving them and he becomes an ally of the heroines.
----
* AnimalMotifs: His design is based on a bee.
* BadBoss: Started out as this in a minor version. But after Girinma dies, he starts shading away from it, warning Arachnea not to go through what Girinma went through, something that failed. Then ironically, after 'demotion', he got assigned with a lot of {{BadBoss}}es.
* BigCreepyCrawlies: His AnimalMotif is a Bee, though it doesn't actually crawl over people.
* ButtMonkey: Throughout all of his appearances, he often ends up facing hilariously bad events, especially when getting defeated by the cures.
* CardCarryingVillain: Very proud of who he's working for and will display it.
* TheDragon: To Kawarino.
* EvilSoundsRaspy: Bunbee has a harsh and raspy voice, although this is {{subverted|Trope}} with his eventual HeelFaceTurn.
* {{Fangirl}}: A [[GenderInvertedTrope male version]] for [[spoiler:Cure Dream]] as of ''Anime/PowerOfHopePrecureFullBloom'', with undertones of a crush [[HopelessSuitor that can never be reciprocated]].
* HeelFaceTurn: He goes through the [[HeelFaceRevolvingDoor Revolving Door]] twice, but his third HeelFaceTurn was permanent. [[spoiler:.. Of course, that didn't stop him from requesting a job in [[Anime/HugttoPrettyCure Criasu Corp]]. As of ''Otona [=PreCure=] '23'' he has firmly renounced his Heel status and stays a face.]]
* HopelessSuitor: In ''Anime/PowerOfHopePrecureFullBloom'', he's implied to have developed a crush on [[spoiler:Cure Dream]], but it's obvious he has no chance with her.
* IneffectualSympatheticVillain: You can't help but feel sorry as he fell to the wrong management all the time, especially after losing his threat level once Kawarino enters the picture.
* LovableCoward: Post HeelFaceTurn he is mostly this, he doesn't want to get involved in any drama caused by Bell or her Shadows, but he also risks himself for the sake of Saki and Mai when he believes they're in trouble.
* MyCard: After his HeelFaceTurn, he now works for a building maintenance company as of ''Anime/PowerOfHopePrecureFullBloom'', as shown when he gives the Cures his business card. His name is written "BUNBEE" in all caps, indicating he uses his real name for business instead of going by an alias.
* ObviouslyEvil: His human disguise looks like an extremely shady character, with slicked-back blond hair, beady eyes, VillainousCheekbones, and always-angry-looking eyebrows that make him look like he's sneering wickedly even when he's just smiling. Post-HeelFaceTurn, however, he's got the FaceOfAThug.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: After his division was disbanded, he is quickly overshadowed by his superiors Hadenya, Bloody and Kawarino, especially the latter two. And in the sequel, he's the weakest villain since three other villains have natural OneWingedAngel forms, and three other villains have better abilities.
* PreMortemOneLiner: "Now then, why don't you take a short vacation?" Spoken right before a (non-fatal) drop through a TrapDoor.
* PrimaryColorChampion: His color scheme in his true form is red, yellow, and dark blue. {{Subverted|Trope}} as he's a villain, and then [[DoubleSubversion double-subverted]] when he redeems himself.
* RememberedICouldFly: He falls from a roof when Kawarino tries to kill him, but Bunbee can grap a window ledge which "saves" his life, and then he remembers he actually can fly. [[spoiler: Nearly 10 years later this is how he is able to evade a group of Shadows attacking him]].
* SixthRanger: [[spoiler:{{Defied}} In ''Otona [=PreCure=] '23'' when the Pretty Cure vow that they will get to the bottom of things and stop the shadows, [[MomentKiller he obnoxiously cuts in to say that he wants no part in it]], of course Kurumi snipes back that she never really expected him to help in the first place]].
* SmugSnake: Starts out as this.
* ThrowTheDogABone: Despite all of the Yes5! team treating him like TheFriendNobodyLikes, Nozomi is relieved when she saves him on time in ''Otona [=PreCure=] '23'', showing that she does indeed care about him, while also respectfully addressing him as ''Bunbee-san''; Bunbee blushes and announces that Cure Dream is his favorite after this.
* TookALevelInKindness: In ''Otona [=PreCure=] '23'' he has firmly renounced his villainous ways and is shown to be an honest worker who genuinely looks after his tenants. In the opening he can be seen laughing alongside one of his coworkers, and [[spoiler:during the final battle, HE is the one encouraging others to better themselves, not just for the sake of the Precure but for the sake of the planet]].

[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/anacondy.png]]
A snake-themed general who is Eternal's administrator.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Her design is based on a snake.
* AssholeVictim: [[spoiler:Sure, she loves the Director. However, when her expression of love is done with such {{Yandere}} tendencies (sabotaging the letter meant for the Director by Flora and [[MurderTheHypotenuse planning to kill her to remove obstacle between her and the Director]]), not to mention she just callously turned the Precures into stone... It's kind of hard to feel sorry or sympathetic for her when the Director kills her for outliving her usefulness.]]
* CleavageWindow: Her true form has her wearing a top with a large cleavage cutout.
* TheDragon: She serves as the Director's vice executive.
* DragonWithAnAgenda: [[spoiler:She doesn't want her boss to reach the Cure Rose Garden because she hates Flora.]]
%%* FingerPokeOfDoom
* FourEyesZeroSoul: Her human form wears glasses, although [[TheGlassesGottaGo she doesn't wear glasses in her true form]], and she's a villain.
* GorgeousGorgon: Her true form is a buxom woman with purple snakes for hair.
* IgnoredEnamoredUnderling: She's in love with her boss, who ignores her feelings [[spoiler:and ends up disposing of her once she becomes useless to him]].
%%* LoveMakesYouEvil
* NonIndicativeName: Despite her name 'Anacondy', she's doesn't have any constricting, squeezing skills like her namesake (Anaconda), but in fact is more modeled on {{Medusa}} (whose snake hairs are mostly venomous snakes).
%%* ScaryShinyGlasses
%%* ShockAndAwe
* TakenForGranite: Her powers mainly consist of petrifying her victims into stones, but it drains her a lot of energy. [[spoiler:Even a single Cure is tireing, but she still petrifies all five of them.]]
* {{Yandere}}: She's in love with the Director and wants to murder Flora in order to have him all to herself.

The leader of Eternal who is intent on conquering the worlds to add to his collection.
----
* AllTakeAndNoGive: When Coco gives him a speech about how it's more important to create things instead of taking them, he replies that he has no interest in such a thing, and all that matters is the preservation of his collection.
* AnimalMotifs: His design is based on a bird.
* BadassArmfold: He does this when the five Pretty Cures attack him and he just blocks all attacks with a barrier.
%%* BarrierWarrior
* BigBad: In ''[=Yes!5 GoGo!=]''
%%* CoolMask
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: While not exactly in his debut, he makes his case of being a nutjob when he personally pays a visit to Nozomi... then proceeds to level down ''the entire school area'' because to him, it has no value, and things without value for him are meant to be destroyed. Thank goodness that it was undone due to NoOntologicalInertia.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: He couldn't even take hint that Flora rejected him from the Cure Rose Garden because he's trying to use it for his own desires instead of good things.
* EvilOverlord: Subverted. He is more a museum director than an overlord.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Things of no value are to be destroyed, but he thinks that only he has the right to assign values to anything.
* OmnicidalManiac: Kind of. He's known to destroy worlds that that he thinks has no values or treasures. If they do, he'll drain the values by taking away its treasures, and once they ran out of values... Boom.
%%* OneWingedAngel
* OrcusOnHisThrone: His chair even floats. Wherever he moves, he's sitting for almost the whole series.
%%* PersonOfMassDestruction
%%* RedEyesTakeWarning
* ShounenHair: He looks like a [[Anime/DragonBallZ Super Saiyan]] in his true form.
* SpamAttack: He can fire Hoshina balls.
* SphereOfDestruction: A gigantic Hoshina ball.
* TheStoic: He doesn't show emotion most of the time.
* WingedHumanoid: He has a pair of wings, and later two pairs.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: [[spoiler:Does this to Anacondy, right after she had declared her love to him, no less. In this case, the Director is also pissed that she dared sabotage his efforts to get into the Cure Rose Garden, though he couldn't care less about her reasons and feelings. Beforehand, he delivers a straightforward version to Mucardia... right after he reported about Anacondy's sneaky activities.]]

[[folder:Shadows]]
!!!Voiced by: Creator/HiroshiShimozaki (Japanese)

Creations of Bell, the BigBad of the sequel series.
----
* TwoDVisualsThreeDEffects: Uniquely, they're animated fully in CGI, which makes them look completely alien.
* AnimalisticAbomination: In episode 6, four dog-shaped Shadows combine into one much larger one. When ''that'' fails to defeat the Cures, Bell overloads the Shadow with the orbs she usually uses to create them. This transforms the giant dog Shadow into a horrifying monstrosity [[AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever taller than the trees]], with three heads that are caught somewhere between a dog, a horse, and a carnivorous dinosaur, [[MultipleTailedBeast several tails]], and a fourth Shadow face in its chest. [[spoiler:When every Shadow combines into one entity, the result is an enormous {{Kaiju}} resembling an [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echidna echidna]] with six legs, only its spines are CombatTentacles, it has many red eyes all around its nose, and it can regenerate from almost any damage.]]
* AsLongAsThereIsEvil: [[spoiler:The very end of the show has a SequelHook where a {{Jerkass}} throws a beer can casually into the street. It turns black and sparks with lightning, implying the Shadows may return as long as humans are selfish and indolent.]]
* CombatTentacles: Their NightmareHands can be used like these, and the [[PlantMooks bush Shadows]] have vines that whip out at the Cures like tentacles. [[spoiler:The Shadow {{Kaiju}} at the end of the series mainly attacks with tentacle-like spines growing from its back.]]
* DarkIsEvil: They're evil shadow monsters born from the selfishness and resignation within humanity's hearts.
* EvilIsNotAToy: While Bell uses her magic to create them, it's possible for them to act on their own. [[spoiler:This proves problematic when she fuses them all together into an enormous {{Kaiju}}, which promptly [[TurnedAgainstTheirMasters attacks the city she was trying to protect]].]]
* FeatheredFiend: Some of the Shadows that appear in episode 7 take the form of monstrous birds.
* ForcedSleep: If a Shadow phases through a person's body or touches their shadow, they'll be forced unconscious and [[TheVirus another Shadow will spawn]].
* FusionDance: Multiple Shadows can combine together into an [[GiantMook enormous Shadow]] that's stronger than the regular kind. [[spoiler:In the end, Bell combines all of the Shadows into one colossal {{Kaiju}}, which becomes the FinalBoss of the anime.]]
* HandBlast: Shadows can shoot glowing white needles from their hands.
* HealingFactor: While weaker Shadows die with one blow, the stronger ones can regenerate themselves. [[spoiler:The Shadow {{Kaiju}} fought at the very end of the anime has such powerful healing abilities that it takes the power of 10 Cures ''and'' all the citizens of the town to overcome it.]]
* TheHeartless: The Shadows are created when Bell's magic touches a human. They're born from the negative emotions of humanity, like resignation and selfishness. [[spoiler:And as such, [[AsLongAsThereIsEvil they can be spawned without her involvement]], as TheStinger at the very end of the anime implies]].
* {{Hellhound}}: Starting in episode 6, Shadows can take the form of a huge dog (roughly 2 meters according to Dark Night Light) with sharp spines along its back. This dog-shaped form isn't the result of [[BadPeopleAbuseAnimals turning a dog into a Shadow]], though -- humans can be turned into these, too.
* {{Intangibility}}: They can phase through people, which has the same effect as touching their shadow. The Cures are still able to TouchTheIntangible though.
* {{Kaiju}}: [[spoiler:The very last Shadow fought in the series is an enormous monster created from all of Bell's Shadows fused together. It attacks the city indiscriminately.]]
* KillTheLights: When a horde of Shadows appear in episode 2, the lights in the town square all inexplicably shut off. [[spoiler:The {{Kaiju}} born from all of the Shadows fused into one causes a massive blackout across the entire city.]]
* LivingShadow: Monsters born from people's shadows.
* MissingReflection: In episode 2, a civilian trying to record the Shadows with his phone finds that they don't show up on camera.
* NightmareHands: In episode 2, Bell controls one of the Shadows remotely to try to grab Cure Dream's shadow with a slew of dark hands.
* OneSteveLimit: {{Averted|Trope}}. They share their name with Shadow, the BigBad of the movie, but they have absolutely nothing to do with him.
* PlantMooks: Some of the Shadows appearing in later episodes take the form of a purple bush with red eyes. They attack with [[CombatTentacles tentacle-like vines]].
* PsychologicalTormentZone: As shown when one of the Shadows attacks Nozomi, falling under their ForcedSleep sends you into a dreamscape where you are made to relive your mistakes in an effort to get you to succumb to their power. Nozomi being [[ThePollyanna Nozomi]], [[NoSell this fails]].
* PurpleIsTheNewBlack: They're supposed to be {{living shadow}}s, but their bodies are mostly purple with some black highlights.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: Their main ColorMotif is purple, but the orbs of darkness Bell creates to spawn them are pure black, with crimson energy.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: They have glowing red eyes, and they're [[TheHeartless born from the darkness within humanity]].
* SpikesOfVillainy: They have spikes on their backs, and they're dangerous beings born from negative emotions.
* TurnedAgainstTheirMasters: [[spoiler:The Shadows appear to mindlessly attack everyone in sight without Bell to command them. When they're all fused together, they try to destroy the city indiscriminately, the exact opposite of what Bell was trying to accomplish.]]
* TheVirus: They reproduce by touching a person's shadow, [[ForcedSleep sending them into a magical sleep]] and creating a Shadow out of their shadow. In densely populated areas, this makes them incredibly dangerous.
* WickedHeartSymbol: They have a large black heart symbol on their chests, broken in two. Of course, this does nothing to diminish how aggressive and antagonistic they are.
* ZombieGait: The basic Shadows normally lumber at a snail's pace, and even ordinary humans can outrun them. {{Subverted|Trope}} when Bell taps into their power remotely, and they attack much faster. Come Episode 6, and Bell can get around this handicap by spawning faster, more dangerous [[{{Hellhound}} dog-shaped Shadows]].

The antagonist of ''Anime/PowerOfHopePrecureFullBloom''. She is an angel who turns humans into Shadows.
----
* AngelicAbomination: Nozomi mistakes Bell for a "dark angel" in episode 5 and she is later confirmed to be an ''actual'' angel, but the strange PocketDimension she inhabits, as well as her ability to summon Shadows, create illusions, and [[spoiler:travel through time]], all imply something far more eldritch.
* AntiVillain: [[spoiler:As revealed in episode 11 of ''Otona Pretty Cure '23'', Bell was a guardian to the Cure's hometown well before they were born; she witnessed it grow from a small village to a bustling city full of people, her motivation stems from her desire to protect the town she loves even if it means [[WellIntentionedExtremist she has to drive out all the humans living in it]].]]
* BigBad: She's the main villain of the sequel.
* CastingAShadow: She's able to summon Shadows by using small spiky orbs to infect a person's shadow.
* ContrastingSequelAntagonist:
** Both to her predecessors Desparaiah and the Director from ''Yes!'' and ''[=Yes!5=]''. While both Desparaiah and the Director have a motif of the past, are leaders of their respective villain organizations and are well-known to the ''Yes!'' team, Bell has a motif of the future, works independently and is an unknown villain to them.
** To George Kurai from ''Anime/HugttoPrettyCure''. Both are villains who [[spoiler:hailed from a BadFuture]], but how they caused it heavily differs. George created Criasu Corporation in order to [[spoiler:purge all negative memories from humanity, which was caused after the death of his wife Hana from his own future so he can freeze and stop time within the present]]. Bell works on her own, whose motivation [[spoiler:to go back in time was after her town was destroyed by the effects of climate change]], and sees humans as [[HumansAreBastards selfish and destructive]], using their negative emotions to unleash an attack of Shadows in the same town.
* EcoTerrorist: [[spoiler:Bell's Shadow attacks on the town turn out to be a desperate attempt on her part to protect it from the effects of climate change.]]
* EvilIsNotAToy: [[spoiler:She finds out the hard way that creating TheHeartless won't end well for her city when the Shadows, formed into one massive {{Kaiju}}, start wrecking buildings and attacking indiscriminately.]]
* ExcessiveEvilEyeshadow: Has some conspicuous, bright fuchsia eyeliner, and she's the BigBad.
* FallenAngel: She's a dark-winged angel with [[CastingAShadow powers over shadows and darkness]] [[spoiler:who was once the town's GuardianAngel before she learned what the effects of climate change would have on her beloved metropolis. When she learns the error of her ways, [[GoodCostumeSwitch her wings and dress both turn white]].]]
* FatalFlaw: '''[[PoorCommunicationKills Refusal to communicate]]''' and '''[[HumansAreBastards misanthropy]]'''. The former prevents her from explaining her true motivations until the final battle, and the latter gives her a blind hatred of humankind that persists all the way up until her final defeat, refusing [[spoiler:until the Pretty Cures can motivate ''everyone in the city'' to help them destroy her ultimate Shadow]] to even consider the possibility that kind and selfless humans exist.
* ForDoomTheBellTolls: On top of her name literally being Bell, her dark magic rings out from the enormous bell of the city's clock tower. [[spoiler:She turns out to be the very GuardianAngel depicted on the bell itself.]]
* GaiasVengeance: [[spoiler:Bell turns out to be the "Gaia's Avenger" subtype. When she learned that anthropogenic climate change would destroy the city she loves and cause the citizens to flee in a mass exodus, Bell concluded that she needed to stop humanity at all costs. She created the Shadows to make them all fall into slumber before they can endanger anyone else.]]
* GoldAndWhiteAreDivine: [[spoiler:After her HeelFaceTurn, Bell has white wings and dress, and gold-yellow horns. She's an angel, specifically the GuardianAngel of the town.]]
* GoodCostumeSwitch: [[spoiler:After realizing the error of her ways, Bell's wings and dress turn [[GoodWearsWhite white]], and her horns turn golden.]]
* GoodWearsWhite: [[spoiler:Her GoodCostumeSwitch involves her dress, and her angelic wings, both turning white.]]
* GuardianAngel: [[spoiler:The guardian of the city, having watched over it since before the devastation of UsefulNotes/WorldWarII.]]
* HandBlast: In episode 11, she tries to blast the Cures with pink energy attacks from her hands.
* HannibalLecture: In episode 5, Bell turns the tables on Nozomi and Coco, who are trying to find out why she created the Shadows, by [[ShapeshifterGuiltTrip transforming into them]] and preying on their deepest insecurities.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:Bell realizes the ramifications of her actions and [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone regrets summoning the Shadows]] when they attack the city, now [[TurnedAgainstTheirMasters acting against her commands]]. She then has a GoodCostumeSwitch and ascends into the heavens, never to be seen again.]]
* HornedHumanoid: She looks like a female humanoid with horns growing from her forehead. [[spoiler:If the angel depicted on the clock tower's bell is meant to depict what she originally looked like, Bell likely grew those horns when she became a FallenAngel.]]
* HornsOfVillainy: She's the sequel's BigBad and has horns on her head. [[spoiler:While she keeps them after her HeelFaceTurn, she's implied to not have had them before she first went evil.]]
* HumansAreBastards: [[spoiler:This is Bell's opinion, after she learns what man-made climate change will do to her beloved town. The Cures eventually [[HeelFaceTurn change her mind]].]]
* KnightTemplar: [[spoiler:Bell is so blinded by her desire to protect the city from climate change that she is willing to endanger civilians with her Shadows and attack the Cures, who want to protect everyone like she does. To her credit, [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone she does eventually come to regret her evil deeds]].]]
* LoneWolfBoss: Unlike [[BreakingOldTrends every other Precure villain]] (well, unless you count villains from TheMovie), Bell isn't connected to a large organization of villains. She's an antagonist all her own.
* MaddenIntoMisanthropy: [[spoiler:The effects of anthropogenic climate change causing a BadFuture for her beloved town]] turned Bell into the FallenAngel she is today.
* MasterOfIllusion: Has the power to display illusions with her magic, [[spoiler:which is used for [[WhamShot dramatic effect]] when she explains why her Shadows are attacking the city, showing the Cures the [[RuinsOfTheModernAge destroyed, abandoned ruins of the city]] after the effects of climate change.]]
* MonochromaticEyes: Her eyes are purely a turquoise blue, helping her appear more unearthly.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:During the fight against the Precure, her Shadow goes on a rampage and begins demolishing the city. Because Bell's goal is ultimately to ''protect'' the city, she is horrified that her actions have caused this and immediately regrets it.]]
* PointyEars: Her ears are elongated and pointed.
* PoorCommunicationKills: [[spoiler:Bell's FatalFlaw, along with [[HumansAreBastards misanthropy]]. She's a GuardianAngel with a wide range of magical abilities, and the elders of her town hold her in high esteem, but her inability to explain her motives outright results in countless Shadow attacks that might never have happened if she just told somebody the city was in danger.]]
* PsychoPink: Has dark pink hair, and her HandBlast attack has her shooting pink energy at the Cures. She's the BigBad, of course.
* TheSacredDarkness: A user of [[CastingAShadow shadow magic]], yes, but Bell is actually an angel [[spoiler:whose motivation for the Shadow attacks is to avert the catastrophic effects of climate change on the town she has watched for decades]].
* SeeingThroughAnothersEyes: As shown in episode 2, Bell can control her Shadows remotely and see the action through their eyes.
* SelectiveEnforcement: [[spoiler:In theory, turning all of humanity into Shadows ''might'' stop climate change from actively worsening. But the scope of Bell's plans is exclusively limited to the city she's meant to protect as its GuardianAngel.]]
* ShapeshifterGuiltTrip: Bell can turn herself into a copy of someone else to remind them of their failings and insecurities.
* StartXToStopX: Bell wants to [[spoiler:keep her city a prosperous paradise and prevent the ravages of climate change from making it impossible to live there]]. Unfortunately, her idea of how to do this involves summoning hordes of Shadows to attack the populace [[spoiler:which, in its ultimate {{Kaiju}} form, vaporizes buildings like it's nothing in an indiscriminate attack on said city]].
* {{Telepathy}}: She's able to telepathically hear every person's thoughts.
* ThinkingUpPortals: She can see the Cures' actions through a dark portal when she's [[SeeingThroughAnothersEyes acting through a Shadow]], and she can also summon them to her with similar portals.
* TimeMaster: [[spoiler:She used her power to travel back in time from a BadFuture marred by climate change, which she now seeks to prevent [[KnightTemplar by any means necessary]].]]
* VillainHasAPoint: [[spoiler:Bell isn't wrong that the effects of climate change will cause mass catastrophe and force many to leave their homes, and that it's all humans' fault. But she's still a villain, as her idea of how to stop this is summoning TheHeartless to magic everyone in town into a ForcedSleep so they can't pollute her city anymore.]]
* VillainNoLongerIdle: In episode 5, Bell stops merely summoning Shadows from afar and moves to confront Nozomi and Coco directly.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: [[spoiler:Her goal is to prevent climate change from causing the town to be abandoned and destroyed, but she goes to extreme lengths like attacking her citizens with Shadows to accomplish this.]]
* WindFromBeneathMyWings: When Cure Dream destroys her giant Shadow in episode 5, Bell flaps her wings to buffet her and Coco with a gust of wind and flees.
* WingedHumanoid: She has a pair of black wings sprouting of her back.

* RoseHairedSweetie: Chocola has pink hair and is a good, gentle person.
* SpannerInTheWorks: Despite the aforementioned fact that she was blackmailed by Mushiban to lure the Cures to Dessert Kingdom, Chocola was the one who started throwing a wrench to Mushiban's grand plan to take over the Dessert Kingdom, allowing the Cures to put an end to his terror.
* StepfordSmiler: During and after [[WoundedGazelleGambit being "rescued" from Bunbee]] Chocola is very cute and fun, even [[{{Troll}} messing with]] ClingyJealousGirl Kurumi. However, she was being blackmailed the entire time. After the truth comes out, Chocola no longer has to be this.

A villain intending to conquer the Dessert Kingdom by brainwashing its ruler, Queen Dessert. On his side are his two CoDragons Dry and Bitter, who were also brainwashed by him.
----
* AntiVillain: Mushiban is still a villain, but most of it, if not all, stems from his misguided intentions for liking sweets but becomes disillusioned after not getting the satisfaction he wanted from them. It caused him to resort to straight-up manipulation tactics to plan the take over of Dessert Kingdom, all of which soon backfired when the Cures and Chocola put a stop on it. And despite brainwashing Queen Dessert and putting her to sleep, it is revealed that he still respects her since he never aimed his attacks on her. At the end after his RedemptionEqualsDeath moment, he realises his mistake and learns the value of sharing things to others before disappearing for good.
* BadassCape: He sports a long black cape to show off his villainy.
* BatmanGambit: To initiate his plan of taking over Dessert Kingdom over his grudge for sweets, he goes to brainwash the ruler of the kingdom by luring her into a sense of respect so she can put her guard down, before proceeding to brainwash Dry, Bitter and later Coco. But in a sense of irony, Chocola, the person he blackmailed to luring them to the kingdom, is the one who throws a wrench to his perfect plans afterwards when she calls the Yes! Cures for help to save the kingdom and her mother from Mushiban, causing him to go to a last resort move: destroying it. And it also backfires spectacularly on his end when the Cures finally defeated him with Dream's/Shining Dream's Shining Solution move.
* BeardOfEvil: He's the movie's BigBad and sports a beard.
* BigBad: He's the villain of the ''Yes! 5 [=GoGo=]'' movie, who wants to take over Dessert Kingdom to eat sweets and he does so by brainwashing the kingdom's Queen.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Despite brainwashing Queen Dessert in the past, he never showed overt malice onto her during his attack against Milky Rose, which was evident when he did not aim all of his attacks onto her after she woke up.
* LaserBlade: He has a lightsaber.
* ImAHumanitarian: His goal of luring the Cures with Dry and Bitter's help is that he can turn them to sweets... ''and eat them afterwards''. He then uses Coco to eliminate Dream so he can turn her into ''chocolate''.
* PurpleIsPowerful: He sports purple as part of his outfit and he's the movie's BigBad.
* VillainDecay: In ''[=DX3=]'', [[spoiler:Cure Dream defeats a resurrected Mushiban using her Shooting Star attack.]]
