It is to be noted that characterization and purpose are often different whether it's the manga, the TV series or the film. If the main trio, the premises and the whole plot in general are grossly the same from one media to another, the support cast often sports notable differences as you will see.

->Voiced by: Creator/TomokazuSeki (JP, film and CD dramas), Creator/KenichiSuzumura (JP, TV series), Alan D. Marriott (EN, film), Creator/SteveStaley (EN, TV series), Ian Hawk (EN, child), Masumi Mutsuda (Spain)

TheHero of the series is a dark-haired teenager whose destiny is to fight for the eventual fate of Earth: either it is destroyed to be reborn without humanity, or it shall live on as it is. In short, he is a stock MessianicArchetype.

After living his childhood in Tokyo, making friends with Fuma and his sister Kotori, his mother, Toru Magami, towed him away to Okinawa (Right around the time their mother Saya gave birth to the first Shinken and died in the process) so they could live in peace until she decided to end her life so she could postpone the impending disasters that Kamui would face and [[IncendiaryExponent died in a fire]].

After coming back to Tokyo, he gradually meets the Dragons of Heaven, fighting with Arashi, Sorata and MauveShirt Daisuke, Aoki's nephew. Behaving like a {{Jerkass}} at first, he only does so [[HiddenHeartOfGold in order to keep people away]], knowing beforehand that his fate will be far from all pink, sparkles and flowers. After meeting Princess Hinoto and eventually bonding with his fellow Dragons, he tries to recuperate his Shinken, an EmpathicWeapon.

Despite his rather [[MessianicArchetype classical characterisation]], Kamui still keeps the spotlight to himself due to his own complex personality. His frail and scrawny appearance (perhaps for {{Yaoi}}-slash purposes) seems almost a joke in comparison to his crushing responsibilities. Yet, his reactions are pretty realistic and quite akin to the ones a RealLife teenager would display.
----
* AngstComa: Right after losing to Fuma [[spoiler: and being unable to stop him from horribly killing Kotori.]]
* BreakTheBadass: Like many other characters, but even more so for being TheChosenOne. To put it on perspective: the sensitive and broken but still determined Kamui that we know? He's the result of '''all''' the horrible shit poured on him, leaving him unable to put on his [[HiddenHeartOfGold facade]] anymore.
* DestructiveSavior: At first he gave no shits about leaving quite the mess in his surroundings, and Saiki thought he wasn't TheChosenOne because of this.
* DisappearedDad: For whatever reason, Kamui's father is not around and apparently hasn't been around since his birth. Nothing else is known about him. Because of his lack of a father, he was shunned by everyone as a child, except the Monous.
* TheChosenOne: Destined to make the decision of either saving humanity at Earth's cost or destroy it in Earth's benefit. [[spoiler:Little he knows is that ThereIsAnother.]]
* EmpathicWeapon: The Shinken, a magic sword that is pretty much a living being as it has to be born [[spoiler:out of a woman.]]
* HeroicBastard: Was shunned by everyone except the Monous as a child for not having a father.
* HeroicBSOD: [[spoiler: Upon beholding the deaths of Kotori and Sorata (TV series only)]], the former causing him to enter an AngstComa.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: Initially so he could drive people away from [[ItsNotYouItsMyEnemies in order to protect them.]] This was especially true in regards to the Monous. They didn't really buy it, especially TV!Kotori who made lots of effort to approach him despite his standoffish attitude.
* MeaningfulName: The kanji in his name (神威) can be read as ''God's power''. ''Kamui'' can also mean ''bear'', which makes allusion to The Big Dipper (Major Ursa), the constellation that represents the Seven Seals.
* PsychicPowers: Had them through his life, mostly in the form of MindOverMatter, but he never questioned himself about it until coming to Tokyo.
* RavenHairIvorySkin: Which contrasts nicely with his black and red uniform.
* TheStoic: At the start of the series. Some CharacterDevelopment turns him much more emotional.
* TakeAThirdOption: Does this in the anime [[spoiler: So Kamui doesn't want to kill Fuuma, yet cannot afford to be defeated and killed in battle? He will let Fuuma injure him... then he'll his life energy to create said barrier and entrust Fuuma with his wish to protect the world. [[DyingMomentOfAwesome And it works]].]]
* TookALevelInKindness: He becomes a Dragon of Heaven having realized what he wanted to protect those dear to him. After [[spoiler: Kotori died and Fuuma had his FaceHeelTurn]], he was terribly broken... and once he came back, he bonded properly with the Dragons of Heaven, showing them the kindness he either repressed or didn't know he had in him.
* YouKilledMyMother: At first, his purpose was to investigate the reasons behind his mother Tohru's strange death and few else. [[spoiler: The truth he uncovers is... more complicated than he expects.]]

The taller and stronger childhood friend of Kamui is actually destined to be his EvilTwin of sorts, depending on who Kamui chooses to side with.

Both Fuma and Kotori, his sister, lived happily in Tokyo and were friends with Kamui until their mother Saya died a horrific death. Fuma then went to High School and became a famed basketball player. Upon meeting Kamui again, he tries to rekindle with him but, since Kamui wants to protect him, his attempts meet an icy response. After Kamui makes his choice, Fuma makes a major FaceHeelTurn and goes to Kanoe in order to take his place amongst the Dragons of Earth.
----
* BadassLongcoat: Just after he joined the Dragons of Earth, his wardrobe now includes longcoats.
* TheDreaded: Whenever a Dragon of Heaven faces him, it's a CurbStompBattle. Daisuke and [[spoiler:Sorata (in the anime)]] lost their lives when fighting him though the latter managed to inflict damage on him before he dies. However, Fuuma is just merely granting what they wanted which to protect their loved ones [[HeroicSacrifice at the cost of their lives]]. Subaru and Yuzuriha are nearly closed to death if it weren't for the wishes with the former wanting [[spoiler:to be killed by Seishirou and the latter wanting to live]].
* EvilCounterpart: To Kamui.
* FaceHeelTurn: As expected upon Kamui's choice to side with the Seven Seals. When Kamui has made his choice in his mind, Fuuma automatically changes his entire personality, removing his agency in the process. Had Kamui chosen otherwise, Fuuma would have retained his personality and Kamui would have turned evil the same way as Kamui did.
* HeroKiller: He's probably the only character with the highest kill count though this only in the anime and movie. In the anime, he killed [[spoiler:Kotori, Daisuke, Sorata, Nataku and Kamui]] while in the movie, he killed [[spoiler:Kotori (again), Kusanagi, Yuto, Kanoe, Sorata (again) and Arashi]]. In the manga, he only killed three people [[spoiler:([[RuleOfThree poor Kotori]], Daisuke and Nataku)]] so far unless one counts destroying the entire Ginza area.
* HiddenAgendaVillain: At this point only Fuuma and CLAMP themselves know just what his deal is.
* LiteralGenie: Gives people EXACTLY what they wish for, hence BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor. In example, [[spoiler: when he kills Nataku in the manga, he explains that he's doing it because Nataku wanted to die protecting someone important ''and'' at the hands of the one he loves; later, he ''doesn't'' kill Karen because she was the person Nataku died protecting, thus he wants to honor Nataku's own wish.]] Similarly, in the anime [[spoiler: he absorbs Nataku into himself with a similar reasoning, since Nataku wanted to die for him.]]
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Often does this to Kamui as well as his companions.

[[folder:Kotori Monou]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Kotori-Monou_-_Copie.JPG]]

The resident ShrinkingViolet is Kamui's childhood friend and who has a (reciprocated) crush on him.

Like Fuma, Kotori was scarred for life upon watching the gory death of her mother. However, unlike Fuma and Kamui, she doesn't fight physically. Kotori lives her life quietly and peacefully in the family shrine.
----
* AngstComa: In the film. [[spoiler: And sorta happens in the anime, since unlike in the manga she spends almost all the time asleep after [[GoMadFromTheRevelation being mentally broken]], and she's more or less sane while in said Dream Space.]]
* BarrierMaiden: She is unknowingly the guardian of the world's peace. This puts her in quite the risk.
* BreakTheCutie: She's traumatized after witnessing the death of her mother. [[spoiler:Then, she broke down mentally when she watched the birth of the second Shinken which reminded her of her mother's death]].
* CompositeCharacter: In the movie [[spoiler:where she took over Tokiko Magami's role as the holder of the second Shinken]].
* CynicismCatalyst: Inverted for Kamui. Before her death he is apathetic, at most, to his role in the End of the World. While he does take a side before her death, it's the event itself that makes him determined to protect his loved ones that are left (Fuuma included), and, thus, to embrace his role as a Dragon of Heaven.
* DiesDifferentlyInAdaptation: [[spoiler:The manner of her death differs in every adaptation. In the manga, she was crucified and Fuuma stabs ''and'' beheads her. In the TV series, it's the same but there's no beheading. In the movie, she tries to reach Kamui but Fuuma grabs her and pulls the Shinken out of her body]].
* DreamWeaver: In the manga and TV series. In TheMovie she spends some time in a dream-like state, but it's not clear if it's the same power or just a trance.
* EtherealWhiteDress: A shy and ill young woman who's associated with dreams. Fittingly, she's often seen in white dresses.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Her flowing golden locks underline how she's sweet, innocent, and associated with symbols of purity.
* NeutralFemale: She's psychologically/physically fragile and pretty much defenseless.
* TheOphelia: In the manga, she loses her mind after seeing [[spoiler: the horrific birth of the second Shinken]] and is seen an almost child-like state (unless she's asleep) [[spoiler: until her murder]]. It's subverted in the anime series: [[spoiler: she ''does'' break down and falls in a coma, but her subconscious remains more or less sane and this lets her pull her DreamWeaver stunts undisturbed until she's murdered while still comatose.]]
* PersonOfHolding: Only in TheMovie. [[spoiler: She has one of the Shinkens inside her body, and Fuuma murders her via pulling it out of the poor girl's stomach with his bare hands. ''In front of Kamui, Hinoto, Arashi and Sorata, who were trying to help her run away''.]]
* ShrinkingViolet: She is a bit shy and docile.
* SpiritAdvisor: [[spoiler: Is upgraded to this in the TV series, when she shows up to comfort and guide Kamui when he is in her friend Kakyou's Dream Space.]]
* TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth: She had nothing to do with the battle between the Dragons of Heaven and the Dragons of Earth. Yet, her role regarding the fate of the planet is to die.
* UnluckyChildhoodFriend: To Kamui but subverted at one point. [[spoiler: He ''did'' love her, they made a ChildhoodMarriagePromise and had she not died, maybe they'd be together or at least would be ''very'' close.]]
* WaifProphet: Like Kakyou and Hinoto, she can see the future in her dreams but she's not of aware of its use.
* YamatoNadeshiko: Sweet-tempered, serious, booksmart, discreet and rather shy. She was more outspoken and with a little more of steel under her silky hand in the TV series: Kamui shows her his HiddenHeartOfGold but [[PluckyGirl she still tries to re-befriend him]], telling him about her own dream of becoming a kimono designer [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indigo_dye#Classical_antiquity-Middle_Ages able to use indigo dye]] (which is SeriousBusiness in Japan), and it actually brings Kamui a bit out of his shell.

[[folder:Sorata Arisugawa]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Sorata-Arisugawa-3.JPG]]
->Voiced by: Creator/KoichiYamadera (JP, film and CD dramas), Creator/MitsuakiMadono (JP, TV series), Mike Fitzpatrick (EN, film), Creator/TonyOliver (EN, TV series), Claudi Domingo (Spain, film), Aleix Estadella (Spain, TV series)

The tall, upbeat, goofy [[TheLancer Lancer]] of the Dragons of Heaven talks with a distinctive Kansai accent.

Despite being taken from his parents at an early age and destined to die for the woman he loves, he constantly acts friendly, generous and protective, especially towards Kamui and his initially [[EmotionlessGirl unresponsive]] crush, Arashi. Raised and trained by Buddhist monks in the Koya shrine, he primarily uses thunder and light-based attacks as well as some holy magic.
----
* TheBigGuy: In the Dragons of Heaven group as a whole. [[spoiler: Which, in the movie and the TV series, extends to BigGuyFatalitySyndrome.]]
* BromanticFoil: He's one to Kamui earlier in the manga.
* ComfortFood: He manages to make Kamui eat his homemade and ''excellent'' food when he's in a VERY low point, and Arashi compliments him on it since it means he's helping Kamui to get better from his terrible ordeals.
* ChivalrousPervert: Flirty, kinda irresponsible, has a bit of a roving eye for ladies (and Kamui). But he's also a loyal friend and an effective fighter, and he genuinely cares for everyone around him and specially his dear Arashi.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Downplayed example since he's not really an idiot. Mess with Kamui or Arashi however and you'll see a demon come out.
* GuardianEntity: Can summon a ''goho doji'' to assist him in the battle.
* TheIdiotFromOsaka: Toyed with. He ''is'' brash, sometimes dorky and considered to be kinda crass sometimes, but people don't seem to think he's actively stupid. Not to mention the fact that he's a powerful fighter capable of casting quite powerful holy spells (like a ''goho doji'') mean that he's laidback and cheery, [[BewareTheSillyOnes but very capable of being serious when needed.]]
* TheLancer: To Kamui.
* LoveAtFirstSight: An oddly enforced example. He decides that [[spoiler: if he ''is'' destined to die for the sake of a woman, it better be for a pretty one]]; he's impressed by Arashi's AloofDarkHairedGirl looks, so he decides she should be the one and approaches her, and as the story progresses they fall in love for real.
* NiceGuy: And this is one of '''the''' reasons Arashi falls for him.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Many times in battle. You wouldn't think that this super happy guy is a powerhouse in battle? You're wrong.
* PluckyComicRelief: Sorata tends to crack jokes and acts goofy for a while. In the midst of the battle between the fate of the Earth, this is really needed.
* SexyPriest: Despite being a Buddhist monk, he still qualifies.
* SupremeChef: Is seen cooking in the anime (and teaching Arashi to do so).
* ShockAndAwe: A good part of his powers are chanellized through lighting bolts.
%% * WarriorMonk

[[folder:Arashi Kishu]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Arashi-Kishuu-1.JPG]]
->Voiced by: Creator/EmiShinohara (JP, film and CD dramas), Creator/RyokaYuzuki (JP, TV series), Teresa Gallagher (EN, film), Lia Sargent (EN, TV series), Elisa Beuter (Spain)

[[AloofDarkHairedGirl Beautiful but dark]], [[IceQueen frigid and distant]], this LadyOfWar is one of the first to arrive in Tokyo and meet the Princess Hinoto.

Orphaned at a young age, she was found in the streets and then raised by {{Miko}} priestesses (who actually were the friends of her MissingMom, a former comrade of theirs) and eventually became the Hidden Priestess of the Ise temple. A very skilled swordswoman with the ability to [[PersonOfHolding summon her sword from her left hand]]. She initially coldly rejects the rather forward propositions of Sorata but, like Kamui, [[DefrostingIceQueen she gradually warms up to him]] and reciprocates.
----
* ActionGirl: Arashi is a deadly fighter who's perfectly willing to take the battlefield.
* AdaptationalHeroism: In the movie, [[spoiler:she never switches sides and remains loyal to the Dragons of Heaven until her death]].
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: She has the traditional image of a beautiful {{miko}} and is very cold and detached at first. Sorata falls for her attitude.
* CulturedBadass: Quite well versed in the mannerisms of the ideal Japanese lady.
* DefrostingIceQueen: Thanks to Sorata's upbeat personality and witnessing how shit goes down the fan around their circle.
* EmotionlessGirl: Initially. She only has one expression which is looking very serious. Considering that she spent most of her time in the Ise Shrine, it's possible that she doesn't interact with people outside her social circle.
* FaceHeelTurn: In the anime, [[spoiler: she goes to the Dragons of Earth of her own will but in the manga, Dark Hinoto's [[MoreThanMindControl machinations]] are the cause of her betrayal]].
* HerHeartWillGoOn: [[spoiler: Specially in the TV series. There was no other way for it to end actually. It also has a side dish of SelfFulfillingProphecy]].
* HimeCut: She's a {{Miko}} with blunt bangs, bra strap length sidelocks, and waist-length straigth hair.
%% * LadyOfWar
* LoveMakesYouEvil: [[spoiler:Ultimately, she betrays the Dragons of Heaven so she could untie Sorata from his obligations of protecting her and thus dying for her.]]
* {{Miko}}: And from Ise Jingun, one of the most famous shrines in the whole country.
* OrphansOrdeal: Her early childhood was tough to say the least, as [[spoiler: after her parents's early deaths, she spent a while as a StreetUrchin until the Ise priestesses found her and took her to the shrine.]]
* {{Protectorate}}: Of Sorata, whether she agrees to or not. [[spoiler: She extends this to him, which is the basis for her FaceHeelTurn.]]
* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: Her relationship with the cheerful and sweet Sorata spits in the face of AllGirlsWantBadBoys.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: What she becomes with time after interacting with the Seven Seals.
* VirginPower: In the manga, she loses her powers [[spoiler: upon making love with Sorata]]. It should be noted that [[spoiler: her MissingMom, also a {{Miko}} from Ise Jingun, [[GenerationXerox went through the same process]] after she ran away from Ise with Arashi's father (a university student) and lost her virginity to him.]]

[[folder:Subaru Sumeragi]]
[[quoteright:225:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/subaru_in_x_7.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:225:[[labelnote:Spoilers! Click here to see him as the new Sakurazukamori.]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/subaru_in_x_before.jpg[[/labelnote]]]]
->Voiced by: Issei Miyazaki (JP, film and CD dramas), Creator/TomokazuSugita (JP, TV series), William Dufris (EN, film), Creator/DaveWittenberg (EN, TV series), Ángel de Gracia (Spain, film), Dani Albiac (Spain, TV series)

Like his ArchNemesis, Seishirou Sakurazuka, he hails from another Creator/{{CLAMP}} work: ''Manga/TokyoBabylon'' where his origins are explained with more details. Appearing as a stock {{Bishonen}}, he mourns his dead sister Hokuto, who was killed by Seishirou.

Unlike the other Dragons of Heaven, he is rather reluctant to join the group and mostly goes on his own story arc that is actually the end of the one he started during ''Manga/TokyoBabylon''. Nevertheless, he significantly helped out during Kamui's massive AngstComa and succeeded in healing his soul and bringing him back, becoming a sort-of BigBrotherMentor to him from then on. His final showdown with Seishirou Sakurazuka leads to tons of HoYay. In battle, he uses a mix of soul magic and arcana that he channels in special paper wards (ofuda)
----
* AdaptationalHeroism: In the anime, [[spoiler:he never inherits Seishirou's role as the Sakurakamori and helps Kamui in the end]].
* AgentPeacock: Downplayed. He's still gentle, pretty, soft spoken and kind - but as the world is ending, he is forced to fight to preserve it.
* AngstComa: In the anime, [[spoiler: he falls into this few after killing Seishirou. With some prodding from Hokuto's soul, he wakes up right before Kamui and Fuuma's final duel.]]
* AngstySurvivingTwin: The death of Hokuto changed him completely which made him a brooding and cynical man.
* BadassLongcoat: As seen above, he usually goes around wearing a full-trench coat and is a very competent fighter.
* BigBrotherMentor: To Kamui, very much so. Once he helps Kamui deal with the trauma of [[spoiler: Kotori's death and Fuuma's FaceHeelTurn]], they become quite close, and in the anime this becomes so strong that [[spoiler: once he returns from his post-Seishirou's death AngstComa, he helps Kamui in his last fight and almost goes TakingTheBullet for him.]]
* BigGood: Subverted. He is probably the most powerful and experienced in supernatural affairs out of the Dragons of Heaven (with good reason, given that it's the job of the Sumeragi clan), but while he lends them his wisdom when required, he ultimately plays as another member of the group under the guidance of Hinoto.
* BrokenAce: He doesn't even want to, but when he does his skill is incredible; his magic powers have improved even more and even his fellow teammates, extremely powerful themselves, are seriously in awe of his skill. Sadly, his severe emotional angst and horribly broken heart thanks to Seishirou take away from his true ass-kicking abilities.
* CherryBlossoms: Part of his magic takes this form, very much like the Sakurazukamori's.
* DemotedToExtra: In the movie, he and Seishirou [[TogetherInDeath kill each other off]] [[DroppedABridgeOnHim rather... fast and unceremoniously]] in the opening scene.
* DestructiveRomance ''and'' StarCrossedLovers: With Seishirou.
* EyeScream: Upon battling Fuuma. [[spoiler: It turns out that Subaru's Wish was related to this.]]
* FaceHeelTurn: In the manga, [[spoiler: he inherits the powers and responsibility of the Sakurazukamori which automatically made him a Dragon of Earth. Thus when he confronted the fellow Dragons of Heaven again, his reasons were to make Kamui realize his own true wish]]
* HeartbrokenBadass: Seishirou's betrayal really did a number on him.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: In his case ''Manga/TokyoBabylon''. ''X/1999'' plays the epilogue of his story indeed.
* IneffectualLoner: Subverted. He is actually effectual, and later he bonds with Kamui yet never fully becomes a part of the group.
* LetsGetDangerous: He is nice and soft, but when he's thinking straight, is also an extremely formidable opponent.
* MagicalQueer: Downplayed. Acts to the trope quite well, especially when he goes into Kamui's mind to rescue him, but it is never stated that his ability to rein in Kamui is linked to him being a homosexual.
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: Towards Seishirou. In most of his fights, it would always be Seishirou and he only got to fight Fuuma once. In fact, Fuuma saw this as his wish [[spoiler:which is to face Seishirou]].
* PrettyBoy:
** Subaru's one of CLAMP's most pretty characters and in X, he is always more beautiful than he is handsome, but this is made more apparent when [[spoiler: he grows out his hair longer, reminiscent of his teenage haircut after he becomes the new Sakurazukamori.]] He looks even more lovely and delicate than ever.
** Several other characters even openly state how good looking he is - and it's true!
* PsychicNosebleed: Has one when [[spoiler: he drives into Kamui's mind to help him return to consciousness]]; being hit with a psychic backlash coming from [[spoiler: Kamui's bitter memories]] causes Subaru to bleed from his ears.
* SmokingIsCool: When ''Seishirou'' does it, it's cool. When Subaru does it, he gets lectured about the health risks -- by Seishirou himself, nonetheless.
* StraightGay: Just like his lover, he has no flamboyant CampGay mannerisms.
* TallDarkAndHandsome: More pretty than he is handsome, but still qualifies with his raven black hair and beautiful eyes.
* TookALevelInCynic: Back in ''Manga/TokyoBabylon'' he was an AllLovingHero [[UsedToBeASweetKid sweet child]] who was willing to risk death to save (often {{Jerkass}}) strangers he never knew personally. After the tragic events of that manga, [[TookALevelInJerkass Subaru has became quite cynical and hesitant to suffer for the sake of others]] (especially strangers out to do harm). However [[JerkWithAHeartofGold he's still willing to fight to defend the weak and innocent]]; he's just no longer the [[AllLovingHero willing martyr]] that he was in ''Tokyo Babylon''.
* TookALevelInBadass: Remember that shy, frail-looking kid from ''Tokyo Babylon''? He '''always''' was badass, technically speaking. He just changed his attitude after all the BreakTheCutie, and now is one of the most powerful members of the whole cast.
* {{Yandere}}: Suggested by Fuuma, towards Seishirou, when he's discussing with Kakyou how both Subaru and Seishirou are happy after [[spoiler: Seishirou's death]].
-->'''Kakyou:''' Then what does the Dragon of Heaven think?\
'''Fuuma:''' If it were me, if I thought someone was special from the bottom of my heart, I definitely wouldn't let anyone else kill him! Since he's going to die anyway...I might as well kill him with my own two hands!

[[folder:Karen Kasumi]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/karen_kasumi.jpg]]
->Voiced by: Creator/MamiKoyama (JP, film and CD dramas), Creator/YokoSoumi (JP, TV series), Creator/TomokoKaneda (JP, child), Toni Barry (EN, film), Creator/WendeeLee (EN, TV series), Esther Solans (Spain, film), Azucena Díaz (Spain, TV series)

A devoted Catholic call-girl, Karen appears sporadically at first before taking a more active role in the plot. She appears as a redhead bombshell who always smiles and supports the Dragons of the Heaven as much as she can.[[PlayingWithFire Gifted with pyrotechnics]], she is usually aloof towards everyone despite her benevolent disposition and her sensitivity. She forms an [[UnrequitedLove unrequited crush]] on Seiichiro Aoki and never acts on it out of respect for his wife Shimako and child Yuuka.
----
* AbusiveParents: Her mentally unstable [[TheFundamentalist fundamentalist]] mother, who viewed her powers as a sign of demonic ties. Fortunately, she was later taken in by [[GoodShepherd a kindly priest]] who allowed her to see her powers as a gift from God.
* CoolBigSis: Often seen as such by the younger Seals.
* FieryRedhead: Averted for the most part, though she still can have quite of a personality when she wants. Her powers, on the other hand, are literally fiery.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:She sacrifices herself to save Seiichiro by burning herself and Yuto. She did the same as well with Shogo in the movie]].
* HookerWithAHeartOfGold: Particularly interesting for being a hooker who not only has a heart of gold, but is also a Catholic.
* UsefulNotes/JapaneseChristian: Notable in being the only Japanese Christian in the series, despite said series heavy use of Christian symbolism and eschatology. All the other Dragons of Heaven members come from various occult sects native to Japan. Also, despite being a Christian, she works as ''call-girl'' in a soapland, of all things, despite such actions almost certainly being seen as sinful in most sects of Christianity.
* MsFanservice: Not to a glaring extent, but because of her line of work, she's sometimes called to take part in her Dragon of Heaven duties while still wearing her "work" attire from her ''other'' job.
* ParentalSubstitute: Becomes something of a mother figure to [[spoiler: Nataku]] in the manga, apparently because [[spoiler: she looks like the mother of his past self, Kazuki. And he ends up dying for her.]]
* PsychicPowers: She is a natural pyrokinetic since her childhood.
* PlayingWithFire: Her specialty.
* TheSixthRanger: Was the last to join the Seals.
* TakingYouWithMe: Attempted [[spoiler: and ultimately consummated, with Yuto in the TV series and with Shogo in the film.]] In the first case [[spoiler: it looked like the trope ''would'' be averted with Yuuto barely escaping and Karen dying next to Aoki... but it was ultimately played straight, with Yuuto perishing soon after his escape.]]
* UnrequitedLove: Towards Aoki, who cares for her greatly but not in that way.

A petite, fresh and naive 14 years-old girl that often lightens up the mood and is never seen without her spirit dog, Inuki, that is invisible to regular humans.

Bullied all her childhood long because no one could see her dog but her, she has sworn to never accept a man who couldn't see her pet. Ironically, the first man to see Inuki is none other than a Dragon of Earth: Shiryu Kusanagi. [[LoveAtFirstSight She immediately falls for him]]. She can turn Inuki into a sword when in battle and her pet will do anything to protect her.
----
* AdaptationalWimp: The anime greatly increases her rookie status, taking out a lot of both her maturity and power. Most notably, in the manga she is able to fight Satsuki to a standstill the next battle after the encounter that resulted in [[spoiler:the first Inuki's death]], which doesn't happen in the anime.
* ABoyAndHisX: By tradition, the Nekoi family form lifelong partnerships with ''inugami'' like Yuzuriha's Inuki. These animal spirits take the form of a guard dog that is tamed from puppy age by its owner and are only ever seen by them and by spritually atuned individuals. Said animal spirit is normally a regular CanineCompanion but is also a LivingWeapon.
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Was shunned by her schoolmates all her childhood, long due to her special abilities. [[AngstWhatAngst She]] didn't mind ''that'' much.
* AnguishedDeclarationOfLove: In the anime, to Kusanagi. [[spoiler: Helps a lot in his HeelFaceTurn.]]
* BewareTheNiceOnes: In the anime and in the manga, Fuma meant to kill her but her will to live alone was enough to repel him [[spoiler: and she could eventually revive Inuki.]]
* FauxActionGirl: While she does have power, she typically ends needing being saved by another character even in one-to-one battles. Then again, she is significantly younger than the rest of Dragons of Heaven, so she is much less experienced on the matter.
%% * FriendToAllLivingThings
* GenkiGirl: A mild version of this. She is cheerful and happy-go-lucky, but not to the point of being unable to focus on serious things.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: With Kusanagi, who is easily twice her weight and towers high over her.
* {{Joshikousei}}: Subverted. Despite being involved with an older guy, her schoolgirl status, although obvious, is never brought up as part of why he likes her, nor is it ever alluded to otherwise in story.
* MeaningfulName: An invoked subversion: the "neko" in "Nekoi" means "cat," and her family uses it deliberately to obfuscate their affiliation with dog spirits.
* MagicalGirl: Variation. She has all the characteristics but doesn't use that kind of magic.
* MayDecemberRomance: With Kusanagi, who is more than twice her age.
* MeetCute: Her first meeting with Kusanagi in the anime and the manga fits this, with slow motion, white feathers of fate and all. Also a case of WhatDoYouMeanItsNotSymbolic.
* NaiveEverygirl: She thinks that being part of the Seven Seals is like being a superhero and saving the world. It's actually very complicated most especially when she lost Inuki and later faced Fuuma.
* PluckyGirl: So much that [[spoiler: a new Inuki is born ''and'' Fuuma refuses to kill her]] specifically thanks to her strong will.
* SchoolUniformsAreTheNewBlack: Subverted mid-story. She wears it all the time but Kusanagi buys her a new set of clothes once hers are too dirty to be worn.
* SproutingEars: Perhaps due to her relationship with dogs.
* TooDumbToLive: In the movie, after finding a random stranger who casually can see her spirit dog, she feels the impulse to tell it to him, and even identify him as a Dragon of Earth on his face. It only tips the stranger that she is a Dragon of Heaven, and it moves him to attack her and kick her ass in the worst possible moment.

The least seen member of the Dragons of Heaven, thirty-something Seiichiro Aoki is the oldest of them. Married with a child, he is also a Wind Master who tutored his nephew Daisuke Saiki.

After discreetly and amiably divorcing his wife Shimako in order to protect her and their child Yuuka from the disaster of the upcoming battles, he works as a journalist and manga editor in his daily life. He bounds specifically with Karen upon interviewing her for a manga and comes to help her when she goes in his stead to battle Yuto Kigai. He uses his power over wind in battle.

He appears as a tall, handsome brown-haired man in his mid-30's with glasses.
----
* BlowYouAway: His signature brand of magic.
* DramaticWind: Due to the above, his appearances often involve him standing amidst strong gusts of wind.
* ItsNotYouItsMyEnemies: Why he left Shimako and Yuuka.
* NiceGuy: Mostly easy-going and non-aggressive. [[BewareTheNiceOnes Unless you push his buttons]], that is.
* RazorWind: His primary form of attack in all medias.
* SatelliteCharacter: The least developed of all Seven Seals. We aren't even showed his family until the very end, and only for a moment.
* ShipTease: With Karen despite that he's married with a daughter.
* TallDarkAndHandsome: His good looks often garner him compliments from the females of the series, especially Karen.
* TeamDad: Subverted. He is the older and most fatherly of the group, but he rarely takes the drive.
* YamatoNadeshiko: A RareMaleExample, and considering that he looks like Fujitaka Kinomoto of ''Manga/CardcaptorSakura''... yeah.
* YouWouldntLikeMeWhenImAngry: A very good example. He himself states that it's ''very'' hard to make him angry, [[BewareTheNiceOnes but when you do]]...

A very mannerly and well-groomed blond Public Service clerk, Yuto is one of the most amoral DeadpanSnarker and cynical of the Dragons of Earth. Not much is known about him except that he is pretty [[CardCarryingVillain happy to work for the Dragons of Earth]]. Additionally, he playfully flirts with his protegee Satsuki and sleeps regularly with Kanoe. In battle, he uses a long rope with a dagger at the tip that he uses like a whip.
----
* AdaptationalWimp: His movie version has no other skill than his whip-dagger, as his manga self hadn't showed his true power when the movie was produced.
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: The anime removes most of his ComicRelief moments from the manga and makes him slightly more serious and worldly (although remains a friendly guy).
* AffablyEvil: Very well-mannered and proper- one of the nicest, friendliest people you have ever met, yet quite amoral.
* BadassandChildDuo: He's the badass and Satsuki is the teenage girl.
* BadassInANiceSuit: As said above, a very fancy one suit, usually pink.
* BadassLongcoat: Which makes him look like a pimp [[LampshadeHanging according to Sorata]]...
* BadassBureaucrat: Works in the public service, uses water and his weapon.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Too nice and polite to be good but he is able to stand against his enemies.
* BladeOnARope: His weapon is a powered combination of sai dagger and whip, which is also his main power in the film.
* CardCarryingVillain: A variation; he is not exactly evil, but he is knowingly above good and evil, and he enjoys his position.
* CompositeCharacter: The water ability was originally from Shogo Asagi in the movie, which was released before Yuto used it in the manga.
* ChivalrousPervert: Sleeps with Kanoe and flirts with Satsuki, but doesn't take advantage of the latter's crush on him. [[spoiler: When he dies in the anime series, his last words [[SorryThatImDying are an apology to her]].]]
* DeadpanSnarker: Constantly snipes at the Seven Seals. Even his team mates aren't exempt from his quips.
* DiesDifferentlyInAdaptation: Though he's still alive in the manga, his death differs in the movie and the TV series. [[spoiler:In the former, Fuuma brutally kills him out of a whim while in the TV series, Karen uses all her power to defeat him, culminating in a TakingYouWithMe]].
* TheDragon: To Kanoe.
* FriendlyEnemy: Shares praises and jokes with an enemy who has just met, and that's only the beginning.
* MakingASplash: His true specialty, which he reveals very late in the manga and admits not having used it in a long time, is water magic. This power was utilized originally by Shogo Asagi in the movie, which was released before Yuto debuted it in the manga.
* MoralityPet: Subverted. His CD drama track reveals that Yuto has a little sister named Tomoe (in fact, said drama is presented as a message in her phone's answering machine), but even when the guy ''[[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes does]]'' [[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes genuinely love her]] and [[ItsNotYouItsMyEnemies shows remorse for not being in contact with her]], he still will continue in his villain ways.
* RealMenWearPink: Doesn't care about wearing pink clothes.
* ReplacementGoldfish: Satsuki seems to be, for him, a stand-in for Tomoe. [[spoiler: Though his feelings ''may'' have been a little less platonic in the anime series, as he dies remembering one of their chats.]]
* SubordinateExcuse: To Kanoe.

Along with Subaru, he hails from ''Manga/TokyoBabylon'' and plays the end of his own story in ''X/1999''. A one-eyed {{Bishonen}} and BadassInANiceSuit, seldom seen without his CoolShades.

Like Subaru, Seishirou is not actually close to his fellows and pretty much follows his own path. However, his role in the awakening of Kamui and Fuma was determinant. He is also the murderer of Hokuto Sumeragi, Subaru's sister and holds an...interesting relationship with his mom, Setsuka. He mostly takes on Subaru, his former lover and current ArchNemesis, and uses an evil version of his powers which often includes CherryBlossoms.
----
* AffablyEvil: A little like Yuto. He's rather personable when not killing.
* ArchNemesis: To Subaru.
* BadassInANiceSuit: Is never seen outside his trademark business suit, whether its in the manga, film, tv show, or official artwork, and said suit goes well with...
* BadassLongcoat: ...the long flowing black trench coat he also constantly wears. The ensemble gives him sinister appearance befitting an assassin.
* CherryBlossoms: A motif of the Sakurazuka magic, even more than the Sumeragi one.
* CoolShades: Tends to wear some of those in the series, in a departure from his regular ones in ''Tokyo Babylon''. Could be doing it to hide the fact that one of his eyes is fake.
* DiedInYourArmsTonight: [[spoiler:Subaru's, in all continuities.]]
* DissonantSerenity: Very little is able to faze this guy, not even dying.
* DeathSeeker: Since he knew about Hokuto's spell, [[spoiler: and invoked it anyway]]. Also further elaborated on by Fuuma, [[spoiler: after his death.]]
-->'''Fuuma:'''[[spoiler: The one who wanted to be killed, according to his wish, was killed. Because he had no attachment to life, this can be considered his last happiness!]]
* DyingDeclarationOfLove: [[spoiler: Dies upon declaring his love to Subaru. ''Possibly''.]]
* EyeScream: He lost one of his eyes back in ''Tokyo Babylon'' which is the reason for the CoolShades.
* EvilCounterpart: To Subaru.
* FourEyesZeroSoul: Seishirou is a stone cold killer who walks around constantly wearing CoolShades. Interestingly, he was a more traditional example of the trope in ''Tokyo Babylon'', as he wore normal glasses then.
* GreenEyedMonster: Puns aside, despite it being Subaru's wish, Seishirou was very unhappy about [[spoiler: Fuuma taking Subaru's right eye, wishing to somehow reverse that damage. Not because Subaru was injured, but rather someone other than himself leaving a mark on Subaru.]]
* HisStoryRepeatsItself: The day when he inherited the title of Sakurazukamori from his mother to Seishirou [[spoiler: passing it on to Subaru. Intentionally forcing Subaru to kill him]] eerily mirrors his mother's request he'd kill her. However, knowing that the predecessor will be killed by the one they love most, but passing it on to someone who could never take another person's life, it's a very...interesting way of showing someone that you love them.
* IncestSubtext: His relationship with his mom, especially in the CD dramas, has heavy SubText, to the point [[spoiler:he even kisses her on the lips when he kills her in the manga]]. Possibly subverted by his inner thoughts that, due to her being an AbsurdlyYouthfulMother, he was never really sure that she was his true mother.
* IndirectKiss: Starts smoking the cigarette he takes from Subaru on Rainbow Bridge.
* ProfessionalKiller: As Sakurazukamori, Seishirou wasn't just an assassin, but Japan's top assassin. Apparently the title is passed on to whoever kills the previous holder.
* SelfMadeOrphan: Apparently standard practice in his family, considering the Sakurazukamori stuff. More exactly, Setsuka says that the Sakurazukamori can only be killed by the person they love the most, and who will become the Sakurazukamori in their place; in Setsuka's case, this person was Seishirou, so...
* SerialKiller: This is his job as the Sakurazukamori; however unlike in ''Tokyo Babylon'', [[ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything he doesn't do much serial killing]] as he ends up fighting some of the Dragons of Heaven instead.
* StraightGay: Assuming he is gay (and not bisexual, or [[SingleTargetSexuality Subaru-sexual]]), he contains no stereotypically gay mannerisms whatsoever.
* TallDarkAndSnarky: He's among the tallest members of the cast, has dark hair and clothes, and snarks at pretty much everything.
* TorsoWithAView: His signature style of murder, done with his bare hand. [[spoiler: And his ThanatosGambit includes pretty much coercing Subaru into doing this to ''him''.]]
* VillainOfAnotherStory: ''Manga/TokyoBabylon'', just like Subaru above.

A nerdy-looking EmotionlessGirl, highschool/college-aged Satsuki is the youngest of all the Dragons of Earth and [[TheSmurfettePrinciple the only female of the group]] aside of Kanoe. She always looks serious and is absolutely uninterested by the mundane world, finding solace only with her computers.

[[TheOjou Born in a very wealthy family]], she manifested her powers at an early age and can connect herself directly to computers by letting them invade her body with their cables. She spends most of her time connected to her giant PC, the BEAST, that she got from Kanoe and that [[CyberneticsEatYourSoul stripped her from the last remnants of interest in humans]]. She thoroughly lectures Yuzuriha upon battling her. She also develops feelings for Yuto who is amused by her crush, even though he openly sleeps with their shared boss Kanoe and doesn't really encourage her advances. This drives the Beast [[GreenEyedMonster mad with envy]]. She uses the Beast for reconnaissance purposes and uses him to control electric cables as offensive weapons.
----
* AdaptationalBadass: Aside from her technopathy, the anime reveals she's quite athletic and can do some CombatParkour with her bike, something is never even hinted in the manga.
* AdaptationalHeroism: The anime gives her a friendly moment with Yuzuriha of all people, even if she apparently didn't know she was a Dragon of Heaven. Her manga and movie selves are much more cold and asocial.
* AdaptationDyeJob: Has a yellow skunk stripe in her hair in the manga and movie, although lacks it in the TV series.
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: The closest to affection that she ''ever'' seems to feel is for Yuto, who's much older and seems to treat her as a stand in for his sister Tomoe.
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: She's pretty, dark-haired, and emotionless.
* BespectacledCutie: A dainty teenage girl wearing NerdGlasses that amplify her cuteness.
* CyberneticsEatYourSoul: And in her case, your body as well.
* DarkActionGirl: Satsuki doesn't fight with her hands and legs, but she can control massive cables VERY effectively if she wishes to do so. I.e., in TheMovie she uses said cables to ''gravely'' injure Sorata during her fight against him and Arashi.
* EmotionlessGirl: Only in appearance. She definitely feels emotions, but her complete disinterest towards human beings makes her look cold.
* EvilGenius: The most booksmart member of the Dragons of the Earth, she build beats on her own and uses computers for everything.
* KickTheDog [[spoiler: She literally kills Inuki in front of Yuzuriha when she failed to answer why killing humans is "bad".]]
* LonersAreFreaks: Subverted. Despite her dismissive behaviour, she is appreciated by her fellows and other people in general.
* MotiveRant: Upon battling Yuzuriha.
* TheOjou: A huge IceQueen type, since she's a very rich young woman who has next to no emotions.
* RemoteYetVulnerable: She may not engage in direct combat and uses her technopathy to attack from a distance, but if your inflict enough electrical damage on the cables she uses as CombatTentacles, the shock can strike her back since she's directly connected to said cables.
* ReplacementGoldfish: ''May'' be one for Yuuto, if we take his CD drama track in consideration.
* {{Robosexual}}: Inverted. The BEAST computer seems to have developed feelings for her and reacts less than positively to her interactions with Yuto. In the end, [[spoiler: these feelings walk right into IfICantHaveYou territory, when the BEAST comprehends that Satsuki has fallen in love with Yuto. When she tries to help Yuto against Karen and Soichiro, the BEAST refuses to obey her command and [[TakingYouWithMe instead self-destructs and electrocutes her to death]].]]
* SelfMadeOrphan: In the anime series, she kills her [[EducationMama Education Papa]] using her powers to arrange his death in a car accident because he controlled her life WAY too much.
* NotSoStoic: In the movie, she screams and snaps when [[spoiler: Yuto is brutally killed by Fuuma.]] She also does this in the TV series [[spoiler: before dying.]]
* TheSpock: A quite classical example, being unusually impersonal and strictly logical in her mindframe, complete with the drab speech.
* {{Technopath}}: Able to execute supernatural feats with technology.

A genderless, cybernetic clone of the dead granddaughter of a local scientist, Nataku has pretty much [[FlatCharacter no personality]] other than that of a lost child. He appears as your usual white-haired {{Bishonen}}.

He is first seen as being sustained in a glass chamber. After heading out to steal the Shinken from Kyogo Monou, he eventually joins the Dragons of Earth. Upon seeing just how much Fuma resembles his father (the son of his creator), he immediately takes him as a father figure and loves him unconditionally. He mainly uses [[ClothFu fabric tendrils in battle.]]

* BarbieDollAnatomy: Justified. He is supposed to be genderless due to his GenderFlip.
* ClothFu: His main attack where he uses his scarf to trap his enemies and shield himself.

* EmotionlessBoy: He's supposed to be this in general, but the manga shows that he does have at least some emotions [[spoiler: as revealed by His Only Wish.]]
* FacialMarkings: Has little purple marks in his forehead.
* FlatCharacter: Literal, due to his status as a clone.
* GenderFlip: Was originally a girl but was turned into a boyish (but still genderless) figure upon being cloned.
* HeroicSacrifice: In the manga [[spoiler: he dies at Fuma's hands while shielding Karen - partially because he interpreted His Only Wish as partly dying by Fuuma's own hand ("the hand of the person he loves the most aka 'his father figure") and partly protecting Karen ("the person most important to him aka his mother figure", due to Nataku and Karen [[OddFriendship having sorta bonded right before his death]].)]]

* NoBiologicalSex: He lacks both female breasts and male genitalia.
* PietaPlagiarism: Twice. [[spoiler: Fuuma cradles him while explaining his wish, then Karen hugs him while mourning.]]
* PsychicPowers: Mostly manifest as MindOverMatter, both through his scarf and from his body.
* TakingTheBullet: [[spoiler: His manga death. More exactly, Fuuma puts his arm through Nataku's torso when he's shielding Karen with his own body, and the injuries Nataku sustains end up killing him.]]
* TorsoWithAView: In the movie, he has the skill to kill people with a hand through their torso, just like Seishiro.
* WhatIsThisThingYouCallLove: In the manga, it turns out he isn't ''that'' emotionless. [[spoiler: Specially during his fight/talk with Karen, where she listens to his backstory and tells him that yes, he has a heart, and he should follow it. This leads Nataku to shield Karen from Fuuma -- at the cost of his own life; as said above, Fuuma interprets a part of Nataku's wish as "to die at his hands."]]

The bulky, towering and Air Force agent is actually a TechnicalPacifist who is inherently linked with the spirit of Earth. His characterisation is the most uneven between all three media of ''X/1999''.

In both the anime and manga, he is actually the [[MinionWithAnFInEvil least aggressive and asocial]] of all the Dragons of Earth. He is the most reluctant to participate in the end of the world but joins in regardless even though he doesn't share his views with everyone else. His enemy Yuzuriha Nekoi develops romantic feelings for him.

In the anime, he protects Yuzuriha from his fellows various times and ultimately [[DefectingForLove switches side]]. In the manga, she confesses to him, and he accepts her feelings, though he doesn't openly return them.

In the film, he is [[AxCrazy the most aggressive and violent of all]] and is nothing more than a BloodKnight who simply wants to kill the Dragons of Heaven. His relationship with Yuzuriha doesn't exist.

In battle, he mostly uses brute force and is able to shatter the ground open with one punch.
----
* AdaptationalVillainy: The movie turns him from the most human and level-headed of the Dragons of Earth into the most violent and unhinged.
* AxCrazy: In the movie as his enduring and kind-hearted qualities are gone.
* AntiVillain: Is actually the least anti-social of the Angels.
%% * BigOlEyebrows: And how!
* BloodKnight: In the movie.
* BruiserWithASoftCenter: Although the physically strongest of the Seven Angels, as well as a professional soldier, he is a very kind-hearted man indeed.
* TheBrute: Subverted. Seems fit for the role, given that he is huge and direct and is the physically strongest of the Seven Angels, but lacks the cruelty.
* DefectingForLove: In the TV-series and [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] in the manga, towards Yuzuriha. Not at all in the film.
* DemotedToExtra: In the film as his only purpose to attack several of the Dragon of Heaven [[spoiler:and kill Yuzuriha]].
* GentleGiant: In both the manga and the anime serie, he's a polite and kind military man who gets long well with animals and with youngsters like Yuzuriha.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: With Yuzuriha. A lot!
* LoveRedeems: He reciprocates Yuzuriha's feelings, even if they are not clearly romantic in nature, and they are a bif factor in his HeelFaceTurn.
* MinionWithAnFInEvil: Feels no real animosity towards the Seven Seals nor towards humanity as a whole.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath [[spoiler: Subverted. He survives. (Though he ''almost'' died in the TV series.)]]
* TechnicalPacifist: Except in the film, he is not that much into fighting despite being a soldier.

->Voiced by: Creator/YujiUeda (JP), Creator/TerrenceStone (EN), Antonio Pujós (Spain)

A frail and comatose guy that seldom comes to his senses in the real world and spends most of his time in a coma where he dreams about the future, a constant sad look on his face. A dreamseer like Hinoto, he was sequestrated for a long time by [[StrawmanPolitical ill-intentioned politicians]].

During one of his dreams, he meets Hokuto, Subaru's twin sister and falls in love with her. Upon seeing her eventual fate in his dreams, in the anime he breaks out of his coma and tries to save her but is shot by his jailers and put in a never ending coma.

In the manga, he is convinced to join the Dragons of Earth by Fuma. In the anime, Fuma coerces him to manipulate Hinoto's dreams so as to mislead her predictions.
----
* AdaptationalHeroism: In the anime, [[spoiler:he [[HeelFaceTurn turns on Fuma]] on the urgings of Kotori and Hokuto by helping the latter to jump into Subaru's mind so she can convince him to help Kamui in the FinalBattle]].
* AdventuresInComaland: Spends his life bedridden and in a coma after escaping and attempting to save Hokuto.
* AscendedExtra: A roundabout example. In the manga he's among the last Dragons of Earth to appear, so much that TheMovie had Shougo to fill in the blanks. In the anime, however, he is the CharacterNarrator protagonist of the OVA.
* DisabilitySuperpower: Very much like Hinoto, he is bound to a bed aside from being a powerful dreamseer.
* DreamWeaver: The crux of his powers.
* EvilCounterpart: He's a white-dressed disabled dreamseer with a sad fate, just like Hinoto, but he is in the opposite team. Subverted in that he is not evil, but merely forced into villainy.
* TheFatalist: The poor guy has seen so much shit, he has lost almost all hope and firmly believes YouCannotFightFate.
* ForcedIntoEvil: He serves Fuma under coercion, and in the anime, under physical threat, as he cannot fight back.
* InterGenerationalFriendship: Strikes one with [[spoiler:Kotori]] in the dream space. He goes as far as [[spoiler: possessing her body briefly as she dies to take her horrifying physical pain into himself ''and'' have some words with Fuuma, and then he says goodbye to her in the dream scape as she goes to Heaven, becoming the depositary of her last words and a tender kiss on the cheek.]]
* LonelyRichKid: Born in a very rich and traditional family, and also kept in isolation by corrupt politicians due to his bad health and ''enormous'' dream seeing powers. Even worse in the OVA, when [[spoiler: for the first time ever he rebels against the GildedCage he's locked in to try dissuading Hokuto from deploying her ThanatosGambit... but he gets shot in the back and can barely witness her death at the hands of Seishirou. And from then on, he's comatose.]]
* MysteriousWaif: His huge psychic powers, his quiet and mysterious behavior and his frail looks make him the perfect rare ''male'' example.
* NonActionGuy: Due to his comatose state.
* PerpetualFrowner: Looks perpetually sad and desperate.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: He and Hokuto mix it with StarCrossedLovers, and also are among the saddest examples of the trope.
* TogetherInDeath: What he wants the most is to join Hokuto. [[spoiler: In the anime, he gets his wish.]]
* TokenGoodTeammate: Unlike most Dragons of Earth, he is not evil or ammoral, but quite the opposite. It's only that he is so traumatized and powerless against his fate that he cannot avoid playing the role he plays.
* YouCantFightFate: He genuinely thinks so.

A blind and crippled dreamseer, she is actually in charge of the whole political life of Tokyo and can see the future in her dreams. She appears as an albino woman in white that possesses a wide range of psychic abilities and some power over Shikigami magic.

Although Hinoto has never once failed in her predictions, she was initially unable to determine the eventual path Kamui would take, so she tried to influence him to side with the Dragons of Heaven but Kanoe informed Kamui about his possibility to choose between the two. She functions mainly as the Dragons of Heaven's MissionControl and is able to use spells to see outside her hidden place. She also constantly fighting her EnemyWithin.
----
* AdaptationalHeroism: [[spoiler:With the absence of her Dark Self in the movie]], she is able to help Kamui and the Dragons of Heaven throughout the movie until her death.
* BigGood: Commands and guides the Dragons of Heaven. [[spoiler:At least a part of her.]]
* BlessedWithSuck: She is a powerful dreamseer, but her body simply can't keep up. [[SuperpowerRussianRoulette with such tremendous powers.]]
* BlindSeer: She is not only blind, but also deaf and mute; she can interact with the world only through telepathy.
* CainAndAbel: With Kanoe.
* DisabilitySuperpower: A powerful DreamWeaver whose peripheral nervous system is barely functional.
* DreamWeaver: The most powerful and experienced of them, and the one for the Dragons of Heaven.
* DrivenToSuicide: [[spoiler: In the film, she could've escaped from the collapsing Diet Building but chooses to not do so, saving Kamui's life and entrusting him with the rest of the Dragons of the Heaven's mission before she's crushed to death by the rubble falling on her, holding Kanoe's lifeless body in her arms. In the anime, she kills herself to stop her Dark Self from interfering with the Dragons of Earth]]
* EnemyWithin: [[spoiler: Her Dark Self, that wishes to live on as a dreamseer and manipulates the group in order to ensure the world is destroyed in the end.]]
* FacialMarkings: Has a seal on her forehead as mark of her powers.
* ManipulativeBitch: At some point, she hides several truths to Kamui in hopes to bring him to the Heaven's side. [[spoiler: Her Dark Self is this, through and through.]]
* MissionControl: What she is to the Dragons of Heaven.
* PsychicPowers: Which she channel in many ways, including: use of DeflectorShields, [[DreamWalker seeing other people's dreams]], [[MySignificanceSenseIsTingling sensing attacks]], [[{{Telepathy}} talking to others through their minds]], [[PsychicTeleportation moving objects without touching them.]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: She looks like a pre-teen, presumably for her condition, but is actually a older woman.
* OnlyOneName: Her second name, or Kanoe's, is never revealed.
* PsychicLink: Shares one with Kanoe, which allows them to trade ominousness.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: Is much older than what she seems.
* SuperpowerRussianRoulette: Having the biggest PsychicPowers in the canon does NOT make her any good, physically-wise.
* WaifProphet: Blind, deaf, mute, and crippled... Yes all of it.

->Voiced by: Atsuko Takahata (JP, film and CD dramas), Kaho Kouda (JP, TV series), Denica Fairman (EN, film), Creator/MaryElizabethMcGlynn (EN, TV series), Miriam Guilimany (Spain, film), Pilar Morales (Spain, TV series)

The Seven Angels's counterpart to Hinoto is actually her younger sister. She is the one responsible for bringing all of the Dragons of Earth together and helps them in their mission by providing them with headquarters and material. She is a tall, dark-haired FemmeFatale with the customary long nails to hint at her evil, and she works as the head secretary of the Diet (Japanese Congress).

Although being born in the same family as Hinoto, Kanoe isn't gifted with the power of dreamseeing but can enter the dreams of others. Hence, she was always treated [[TheUnFavourite as less important than her sister]]. She is mostly flirtatious and AffablyEvil towards her companions; she has an open affair with Yuto and [[LesYay flirts occasionally with Satsuki]]. Despite claiming to hate Hinoto, her sister's death seems to affect her all the same.
----
* AdaptationalBadass: In the manga and anime, she is just a DreamWalker and can only enter the dreams of others but not influence or see too much beyond, leaving those tasks to Kakyo. In the movie, as Kakyou doesn't exist in this continuity, she's a full-fledged DreamWeaver just like Hinoto.
* AdaptationalVillainy: In the anime, her reason of helping the Dragons of Earth is to spite Hinoto as opposed to freeing her from the burden of being a Dreamseer.
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: Kanoe has black hair and light skin and isn't particularly close to anyone but her sister, Hinoto.
* BigBad: Initially, she is the nearest thing to a Bid Bad the show has, as she helps and leads the Dragons of Earth. Later, however, the job is passed to Fuuma.
* BloodyMurder: Rather "Bloody Abduction" In the movie, she has the ability to create portals to her dream dimension in the form of blood, which she uses to abduct Kotori.
* DiesDifferentlyInAdaptation: [[SparedByTheAdaptation With the exception of the TV series where she is alive]], [[spoiler:the manner of Kanoe's death differs in every adaptation. In the manga, she was killed by Hinoto's evil side after she meets and suspects that something's different with her sister's personality. In the movie, Fuuma stabs her out of a whim]].
* DreamWalker: In contrast to Hinoto who can foresee the future through her visions, Kanoe can only walk into and behold people's dreams but can't act on them.
* FacialMarkings: In the manga and movie, she has a seal on her forehead to mark her Dreamseer powers.
* FemmeFatale: Classy, regal, sultry voice and the obligatory [[FemmeFatalons long nails]].
* LoveMakesYouEvil: One of her motives in the film and the manga is to actually rescue Hinoto from her BlessedWithSuck condition. By ''destroying the world'', if needed.
* NavelDeepNeckline: Some of her attires have plunging necklines so deep they reach her stomach.
* NoblewomansLaugh: A truly scary one, which she demonstrates upon gloating over the apparently inevitable victory of the Seven Angels.
* OnlyOneName: Like her sister.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: Especially in the TV-Series where she wears her trademark black suit with a long black skirt and a red blouse.
* SexySecretary: Her day job.
* TheUnfavourite: According to her, Hinoto has always been considered better due to her ability as a dreamseer, which she lacks.

Kamui's mother and maternal aunt. They were membresses of the Magami clan, a once powerful family that is shrouded in mystery. Tohru left the Magami clan (including a pre-teen Tokiko) few after her highschool graduation, gave birth to Kamui, was close to the Monou family and left to Okinawa at some point; meanwhile, Tokiko balanced her work as a nurse with some spiritual deals.
----
* AdaptedOut: Tokiko never appears in the movie and her role as the bearer of the second Shinken is given [[spoiler:to Kotori]].
* BarrierMaiden: Both, but specially Tohru.
%%* BuryYourGays: Tohru, though it winds up being a delayed example.
* DisposableWoman: Both of them as their purpose is the give birth to the two Shinkens.
* KillItWithFire: [[spoiler: Tohru's body simply ''[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spontaneous_human_combustion started burning on its own]]'', since she was the BarrierMaiden for ''the Earth itself'' to keep global warming at bay.]]
* PersonOfHolding: [[spoiler: Depending on the continuity, one of the Shinkens is born from one of them: Tohru in the movie and Tokiko from both manga and anime.]]
* SacrificialLamb: Again, ''both''. Their deaths made an impact on Kamui, Fuuma and Kotori
* SchoolNurse: Tokiko works as the nurse in Kamui, Kotori and Fuuma's school.
* PosthumousCharacter: Tohru died before the series started.
* TeenPregnancy: Possibly. Tohru left her family right after graduating from highschool (and when Tokiko was in junior-high). Tokiko's memories of the last time they saw each other imply that Tohru either was already pregnant with Kamui or knew she'd have him soon.
* YamatoNadeshiko: Tohru, a devoted single mother who goes for the cold steel without hesitation. Also, both of her Japanese voice actresses (Masako Ikeda and Creator/KikukoInoue) are rather famous for voicing this kind of character.

Fuuma and Kotori's parents, who own and handle the Tokagushi Shinto shrine. Despite looking HappilyMarried, they actually got together to fulfill their destinies rather than for romantic love, and the reasons behind said destinies are not exactly simple either.
----
* AdaptedOut: They never appeared in the movie (where Fuuma and Kotori take care of the shrine, implying they my be dead) and because of this, Tohru remains as the bearer of the Shinken who died upon giving birth to it.
* TheBeard: Kyogo was essentially this to Saya, though everyone (except the kids) knew the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lavender_marriage marriage]] was a sham. [[UnderstandingBoyfriend He didn't seem to resent it.]]
* GoodParents: They truly love their children [[spoiler:but sadly, they don't last for long]].
* {{Gorn}}: How [[spoiler: Saya died, by being ''dismembered'' while "giving birth" to the Shinken. In the manga, it happens in the backyard of the shrine; in the anime, it's during an urgent surgery.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: Saya, specially in the manga. She knew that Tohru was destined to have the Shinken inside, but willingly took her place so Kamui wouldn't be left fully orphaned ''and'' to show her love for her.]]
* HideYourLesbians: Saya was in love with Tohru. She married Kyougo to fulfill her destiny. [[YouCantFightFate The]] ''[[YouCantFightFate three]]'' [[YouCantFightFate knew it]], and Saya even apologized to Kyougo for it since he ''did'' genuinely love her but she simply couldn't love him back in the same way - right before she died. Tohru then left for Okinawa with little Kamui on tow because [[MyGreatestFailure she felt so guilty]] that she couldn't face the Monous afterwards.
* IncompatibleOrientation: Saya only loved Tohru, and Kyougo knew it.
* OurMermaidsAreDifferent: In the manga, [[spoiler: Kotori goes in one of her DreamWeaver trips and meets up with the spirit of Saya, [[http://kitsunetoneko.wordpress.com/2012/05/04/saya-monou-a-mermaid-of-sin/ who has been transformed into a butterfly-winged mermaid]].]]
* ReligiousBruiser: Kyougo is a quite strong fighter ''and'' a Shinto priest. [[spoiler: He's still killed by Nataku]].
* TallDarkAndHandsome: Kyougo looks FINE despite being in his late 40's.
* UnwantedSpouse: Kyougo technically ''did'' marry the woman he loved but remained as this since she was in love with someone else and he was very aware of what was going on.

A playful, sarcastic highschooler who appears only in the movie, filling Kakyou's place as his character hadn't even really been created. He also had Yuuto's water-based powers, since Yuuto had never used them by that point.
----
* BashBrothers: He often teams up with Nataku in the movie.
* CanonImmigrant: Was specially created for the animated film, since Kakyou had not appeared in the manga by that point and Yuuto's water-control powers had still not been revealed/written either. A decade later, he was adopted into CLAMP's canon in ''Manga/TsubasaReservoirChronicle''.
* ForTheEvulz: His sole motivation to join the Dragons of Earth.
* HotBlooded: He's very, very eager to get into fights.
* MakingASplash: His specialty is [[KillItWithWater water powers]], and is powerful enough with them to flood a metro station and make a train surf over his water.
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: And he fights wearing his school uniform.

----
Tropes associated with Setsuka Sakurazuka:

* AbsurdlyYouthfulMother: So much, that Seishirou lampshades the trope in the CD dramas by mentioning [[OlderThanTheyLook she was so young-looking]] that he had difficulty believing she gave birth to him.
--> '''Seishirou:''' I wonder how old she was. I still am not completely sure. The one that always smiled quietly forever seemed to be a young girl...
* DarkActionGirl: Was the former Sakurazukamori.
* FlowerMotifs: When not killing people, her hobby is [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ikebana Ikebana.]] Her favorite flowers are the [[http://worldkigodatabase.blogspot.com/2005/03/camellia-tsubaki.html red camellia]], ''benitsubaki'' in Japanese.
-->'''Setsuka''': ''(has an ikebana arrangement)'' Camellias. Red camellias.
-->'''Seishirou''': Your favorite flower.
-->'''Setsuka''': I love it. I love camellias best when they fall ''(gets a dreamy look)'' It falls on the ground.... plop, like a human head. ''I love it''.
* TheOphelia: She often talks about things that look like nosense, then counteracts with something quite unsettling and does so smiling. See the quotes under FlowerMotifs to have an idea.
* ParentalIncest: Her relationship with Seishirou gives some ambiguous vibe of this. On one hand, she say he's the only person she's ever come to care for and love, is implied to have given him a kiss on the lips upon meeting, and in the manga, [[spoiler:when she dies at Sei's hand by her own request, he kisses her as well.]] On the other hand, given the sheltered, ritualistic life of the Sakurazuka clan, it's possible that she never had anyone to love aside from her son and that the kiss are part of their ceremonials (particularly the one in which [[spoiler:the new Sakurazukamori kills his predecessor]]).
* PosthumousCharacter: [[spoiler: Basically, the reason why Sei is the way he is. Even after dying ''many'' years ago, when Seishirou was in high school.]]
* SnowMeansDeath: [[spoiler: Seishirou kills her in a snowy garden]]
* TricksterMentor: To Seishirou. She's always playful and creepily sweet to him, specially in the CD dramas.
* WhiteShirtOfDeath: [[spoiler: When Seishirou killed her, she was wearing a white kimono.]]
* YamatoNadeshiko: A beautiful, soft spoken and dark-haired woman whose hobbies include Ikebana and wears really pretty kimonos. Her devotion to the murderous family business is complete, and it makes her ''extraordinarily'' creepy.
