[[LetsPlay/TheRunawayGuys The Runaway Guys]] is a collaboration between {{LetsPlay/Chuggaaconroy}}, LetsPlay/ProtonJon, and LetsPlay/NintendoCapriSun. They LetsPlay games together, and have had special guests for many of their projects. There are many {{trope}}s about them, now the player-specific {{tropes}} go here.

[[foldercontrol]]

! Tropes pertaining to multiple main Guys:
[[folder:Multiple Runaway Guys]]
* AdaptationalJerkass: Both Chugga and Jon act more rude and obnoxious on this channel than they are on their solo channels.
* AscendedFanboy: Chugga went from a fan of Jon's to his best friend he trusts enough to put up a VitriolicBestBuds act with and admits having BigBrotherInstinct for. Likewise, Tim was a fan of both Emile and Jon, and is now a BigBrotherMentor of sorts they ask for advice. He clearly enjoys himself and even trusts them enough to {{trick|ster mentor}} them sometimes.
* BeautyBrainsAndBrawn: The Guys provide a [[GenderInvertedTrope gender-inverted]] example of this trope.
** Emile: [[CuteBruiser Brawn.]] The most excitable and gung-ho of the Guys and physically the strongest.
** Tim: [[TheHeart Beauty.]] The most calm and rational of the Guys who has a keen sense of observation.
** Jon: [[InsufferableGenius Brains.]] The most street smart and realistic of the Guys and sports a cynical worldview.
* BigBrotherMentor: Tim and Jon are this towards Emile in their ''Super Mario Bros. 3'' and ''Super Metroid'' let's plays. It's kinda the point.
* ButtMonkey:
** [[LetsPlay/NintendoCapriSun Tim.]] He -- as Yoshi -- has [[spoiler:been attacked by steam in Luigi's Engine Room, chased by a giant boulder in DK'S Jungle Adventure, bitten by a Pirahna Plant in Peach's Birthday Cake, and eaten by a giant fish on Yoshi's Tropical Island]].
*** He also got the first GameOver in ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii''. And got killed by the first Goomba. [[CastingGag Appropriately, he's playing as Luigi.]]
*** And the first death in Subspace Emissary.
*** A large portion of the Great Maze can be summed up by "''TIIIM!''"
*** During Dokapon Kingdom, Tim gains an amazing shield at the beginning of an episode... only for Chugga to destroy it at the end.
** In ''Mario Party'', the lone CPU gets this in an actual round. One round actually has the guys forming an Anti-CPU alliance. To date, the CPU's victory count is [[spoiler:''one'', on the first board of ''5'']].
** [[LetsPlay/ProtonJon Jon]] tends to be the most skilled of the three, but sometimes gets screwed by poor luck, like in Wheel of Fortune and VideoGame/MarioParty during DK's Jungle Adventure. Then Yoshi's Tropical Island. [[spoiler:Then he won.]]
--->'''Jon''': GAAAAAAME!
*** ''VideoGame/MarioParty 3'' hates Jon. He just can't catch a break, and the game seems to take every chance it can to give him the worst of all possible outcomes.
*** ''VideoGame/MarioPartyDS'' appears to have a ''personal vendetta'' against Jon, with him [[spoiler:being shut out for the first time in any of their Mario Party playthroughs]]. Seemingly ''every'' negative thing that can happen in the game happens to him at some point.
** {{LetsPlay/Chuggaaconroy}} has spells of being this every now and again, especially in [[spoiler:''VideoGame/FortuneStreet Fortune Street'']], [[spoiler:''Wheel of Fortune'']], ''[[spoiler: VideoGame/SuperMarioBros3]]'' and ''[[spoiler:[[VideoGame/MarioParty Mario Party 5, 6 and 10]]]]''. He also gets on the receiving end of many jabs from Jon and Josh in ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosU''.
*** He tends to be on the receiving end of the most verbal abuse of the group, due to poor teamwork skills and lame puns.
** In ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosWii'', Josh Jepson gets his turn at this; while NCS tends to die as often as him, he at least gathers more lives, meaning Josh usually has the least lives ''and'' the most deaths.
** ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure'' marks a rare time where all three of the guys end up sharing this position, as all three of them end up having some pretty embarrassing moments. Highlights include Chugga [[spoiler:dying on the very first boss in the game on its first attack,]] NCS [[spoiler:drowning as Big the Cat,]] and Jon being the only one of the three to [[spoiler:get a Game Over, and in the game's HubLevel of all things, although this was down to bad stage design rather than being his fault.]]
* ChromaticArrangement: Both in terms of characters in ''New Super Mario Bros.'' and of names in ''Brawl'', Chugga is Red (the fearless leader), Jon is Blue (he tends to be more proficient and knowledgeable of the games than the other two), and Tim is Green (the most laid-back and gentle of the three). Josh even fulfills the Yellow fourth member part of the trope.
* DeadpanSnarker: All three are varying levels of displaying sarcasm and dry humor, with Jon being the most prominent.
* DysfunctionJunction: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. All three are mentally stable, but all three happen to be neurodivergent. Emile has UsefulNotes/{{Autism}}, Tim has Asperger's Syndrome, and Jon has [[UsefulNotes/AttentionDeficitHyperactivityDisorder ADHD]].
* EvilLaugh:
** Chugga has done quite a few. One of the best was when he won in a Tug-o-War game.
*** Made funnier by how whenever the character in the Bowser suit wins a Tug-o War game, they do an "evil laugh" animation.
** [=NintendoCapriSun=] also makes a few, often when the other two are yelling.
** In Episode 14 of ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'', Jon used one after [[{{Griefer}} royally screwing everyone over.]] Considering how it sounded, though, maybe it would be more accurate to call it a {{Troll}} [[EvilLaugh Laugh]].
*** He gets another fantastic one in episode 15 after saying that, no, [[TokenEvilTeammate he would not start being nice to Chugga just because Chugga had done something nice for him.]] Unlike the previous {{Troll}} [[EvilLaugh Laugh]], this one actually sounded ''sinister.''
** ''Mario Party'''s Pot o' Skills has another [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHmAIqiH2A8#t=1063 fantastic one]] after Jon beats everyone in Tug of War.
* FemaleFelineMaleMutt: Inverted, the main guys are {{Kindhearted Cat Lover}}s and their most appearing female guests (Masae and Lucah) [[HeroesLoveDogs love Dogs]]. Although, Masae appears to be (and according to Lucah, is) a FriendToAllLivingThings, and Lucah grew fond of cats after befriending Emile's cat Kirby, to the point that she and Jon adopted a {{Handicapped|Badass}} CuteKitten named Big Boss Bagel in 2016. On the guy side, Tim seems to be a FriendToAllLivingThings, and Emile finds dogs cool, but prefers cats.
* FreudianExcuse: Why do the Guys come keep on coming with suicide jokes even though [[DudeNotFunny many viewers get offended by them]]? [[spoiler:All [[SadClown three of them]] have been suicidal in parts of their [[TearJerker lives]]. Jon talks a bit about it in a ''Yoshi's Island'' episode, in which he says it helps talking about it.]]
* GenreSavvy: The Guys are well aware of some of their fanbase's... peculiarities... and in particular, when Jon and Chugga argue, they often exploit it by challenging the fans to make embarrassing fanart or fanfiction of the other.
-->'''Jon:''' And you wonder why there's [[SlashFic slash]].
* {{Griefer}}: Chugga plays this role ''very'' well.
** In ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'', however, [[TokenEvilTeammate Jon stole this title]], [[EpicFail with]] [[LaserGuidedKarma varying]] [[HilarityEnsues effectiveness]]. Though with the highest kill count and lowest death count, it's easy to say he's great at it even with the fails.
* KindheartedCatLover: All 3 are cat people.
* LargeHam:
** Chugga is a pretty big Large Ham, as per his usual [=LPs=] where he sends his mic levels skyrocketing into the red zone. He really doesn't like it when things don't go his way.
** Whenever things don't go Jon's way in ''VideoGame/MarioParty'', he shouts "''[[TheComputerIsACheatingBastard GAAAAA]]''''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMafSxAA7c0&t=690s AAME!]]''" He also has quite a few freak-outs like this during other boards, especially Eternal Star, and is arguably the Largest Ham of the group, frequently sending everyone into laughing fits whenever he hams it up.
** Josh Jepson appears to be one as well.
* MagicKnight: Emile and Jon both fit this role in ''VideoGame/CastleCrashers''.
* ManChild: They can be incredibly childish sometimes. Part of the charm.
* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy: All the guys are sensitive guys to Masae's manly woman.
* MotorMouth: [=NintendoCapriSun=] talks real fast. Chugga does this as well, though mostly due to having a ton of things he wants to say.
* NiceMeanAndInBetween: Tim is the nice, Jon is the mean, and Emile is the in-between. However, this is all an act, as all 3 are {{Nice Guy}}s in real life, so this trope is purely PlayedForLaughs.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Averted with all three, as they call each other by their real names (Emile, Tim, and Jon) quite often.
** Played straight with Emile in earlier projects where he's primarily called Chugga.
* PowerTrio: Seems to border on KnightKnaveAndSquire at times.
* RedOniBlueOni: Chugga and Tim could be seen as this trope, while Jon rapidly switches between red and blue at times. The other two are always red and blue, though.
* SadClown: all 3 are this, they're happily mostly not sad during most of the [=LPs=], but one can see shades of it.
* TemptingFate: All of them have done this -- sometimes accidentally, sometimes on purpose to the other Guys. Jon in particular seems to have mastered weaponizing it against Emile, but Emile has done this to Jon on occasion as well.
* ThoseTwoGuys: If some of them are likely to fight, it's Emile and Jon. If two of them are likely to sing, it's Jon and Tim (both of which are actually pretty good in different ways). And if two are likely to make puns, it's Tim and Emile.
* TokenTrio: they enjoy parodying this with Emile being the TokenMinority by often mentioning being Mexican but Jon using a Mexican accent at times for fun and often being one for being one being Canadian in USA at times and also Tim when in Canada. Both Jon and Tim as the Token Majority switching on wherever they're in USA or in Canada. And Tim as the Token Female by [[CrossPlaying playing as a woman]] in Wheel Of Fortune and sometimes being called 'Tim, his wife' when "needing" a woman, including one time he wanted to be in the same "team" as Masae and Lucah..
* TrueCompanions: They're willing to travel across the continent just to hang out, and they always have each others' backs, even if they do ham up the VitriolicBestBuds thing.
* VerbalTic: Chugga has a habit of suddenly saying "Luigi!" whenever NCS does something of note in the ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'' videos. Josh also did this a couple of times.
** In ''Kirby's Return to Dream Land'', Chugga does the same thing, but with Dedede rather than Luigi.
** NCS tends to fill any dead air with tics like "Holy crap", "Oh my God", and "This is crazy", while Josh does the same with "Oh my goodness".
* VitriolicBestBuds: The relationship between Jon and Chugga has definite shades of this.
** Especially prevalent in ''New Super Mario Bros.'', with them repeatedly trying to kill each other.
** Guess what was Jon's and Emile's most common death cause at the end? ...[[spoiler:EACH OTHER.]] In both ''NSMB Wii'' and ''U''. Summed up well in this conversation:
--->'''Jon:''' ''(to Emile)'' I hate you.\
'''Emile:''' No, you don'-\
'''Jon: ''YES, I DO!'''''
** In ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'', Josh also joins in this relationship with both Jon and Chugga. Tim is the only one not hit by this.

->[[RunningGag "Press L to P!"]]

The first of the main three Runaway Guys, [[LetsPlay/{{Chuggaaconroy}} Chugga]] is usually the best or at least better players of whatever game the group is playing. He is the loudest and most energetic of the three main guys. He also tries to annoy LetsPlay/ProtonJon as much as possible and allow for situations where the viewers can laugh at the group's collective suffering. In the ''Mario Parties'' (up to Mario Party 4), he played Donkey Kong. In ''Mario Party 5'', he switched to Daisy. In ''Mario Party 7'', he switched again to Toad. In ''Super Smash Bros'', he played Ness. In ''Mario Kart 64'', he played Wario. In the ''New Super Mario Bros.'' series, he played Mario, but switched to Yellow Toad in ''New Super Luigi U''. In ''Kirby's Return to Dreamland'', he played Kirby. In ''Fortune Street'', he played Bowser Jr. for the first three boards, then switched back to Donkey Kong starting from ''Slimenia''. In the TournamentArc of ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'', he played Lucas. In ''Mario Power Tennis'', he played Bowser Jr. In ''Mario Kart: Double Dash'', he played Toad on Team Streetpassers with LetsPlay/MasaeAnela. In the ''Rayman'' series, he played Rayman. In ''Castle Crashers'', he played Red Knight. In ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaFourSwordsAdventures'', he played Red Link. In ''VideoGame/SecretOfMana'' he played the Boy [[note]]Randi[[/note]]. In ''VideoGame/OneHundredPercentOrangeJuice'', initially he played as [[VideoGame/QPShooting QP]], but later switched to Sumika.

-> '''Wins:''' ''Mario Party'' [[note]]Luigi's Engine Room, DK's Jungle Adventure, Peach's Birthday Cake, Bowser's Magma Mountain, Eternal Star, Minigame Stadium[[/note]], ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'' SSE [[note]]Tied with Jon for overall winner[[/note]], ''Super Smash Bros Brawl'' Free-for-all [[note]]Won both matches[[/note]], ''Mario Party 2'' [[note]]Pirate Land and Space Land[[/note]], ''Mario Power Tennis tournament'' [[note]]Won with Bowser Jr.[[/note]], ''Wii Party'' [[note]]Board Game Island[[/note]], ''Fortune Street'' [[note]]Mario Stadium and Mt. Magmageddon[[/note]], ''VideoGame/BurnoutRevenge'' [[note]]Had the high score[[/note]], ''Mario Party 3'' [[note]]Chilly Waters, Waluigi's Island, Gate Guy, Pipesqueak; winner by stats[[/note]], ''Mario Party 4'' [[note]]Bowser's Gnarly Party[[/note]], ''Wii Party U'' [[note]]Mii Fashion Plaza and Ball Dozer[[/note]], ''Mario Party 7'' [[note]]Pagoda Peak, Neon Heights; winner by stats[[/note]], ''Mario Party 8'' [[note]]Goomba's Booty Boardwalk[[/note]], ''100% Orange Juice!''[[note]]Christmas Miracle (both rounds), Space Wanderer, Sealed Archive, Bounty Hunter, White Winter, Farm, Star Circuit, Shipyard, Icy Hideout, Over the Sea, Dark Citadel, Beginner Town (Winter), Beginner Town, Fungus Cave[[/note]], ''Mario Party DS'' [[note]]Wiggler's Garden, Toadette's Music Room, DK's Stone Statue, Kamek's Library; overall winner[[/note]]
----
* TheAce: Not normally, but in ''[[VideoGame/MarioTennis Mario Power Tennis]]''. To the point where [[spoiler:Rodri is praised for being the only player to NOT be curb-stomped by him.]] Indeed, the guest players seem to see him as the OpposingSportsTeam.
* ADayInTheLimeLight: Not Chugga himself, but the fact that he plays as Donkey Kong in the ''Mario Party'' games contrasts with his individual channel where he's never played a Donkey Kong game or even a game that has Donkey Kong as a playable character.
** Daisy takes this role in Mario Party 5 and 6.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: Acts like one in early let's plays, but later grows out of it. He still has some shades of it in in the Super Mario 3D World let's play, but then it was combined with him being a CloudCuckooLander so he went too far ahead of the others, only to [[TookALevelInJerkass complain about them]] being slow.
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: He has a habit of being distracted, such as pointing out how nice the background looks, while in the middle of gameplay.
** This habit of his leads to some very strange trains of thought on his part, like concluding that making pizza by going to the bathroom is an awesome power and that the final boss of ''Kirby's Return to Dream Land'' is the king of Hawaii.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: When Jon and Tim are asked on their formsprings what they genuinely like about Emile, they both say this is one of his best traits [[http://www.formspring.me/PJon/q/319603890112703120 here]] and [[http://www.formspring.me/BreakingNCS/q/319942053163183810 here.]] Since he's the one who [[MrExposition provides detailed information on every game]] and edits all the videos, this is to be expected.
* BadImpressionists: An oddly specific example; whenever Chugga does ''any'' impression, Jon always thinks it sounds more like Scooby-Doo than whoever Chugga was trying to do. [[MindScrew One can only imagine]] what would happen if Chugga ''tried'' to do an impression of Scooby-Doo...
* BerserkButton: Steve, as usual.
** He also gets annoyed whenever Jon mocks him with the Anime Cat Girl noise he accidentally made.
** And when people take [[VitriolicBestBuds his friendship with Jon]] the wrong way.
** When he (and Jon) appeared in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJ1p-zFsQ9k World's Most Frustrating Game Show]], Emile's only moment of anger (symbolized by changes to their face sketches at the bottom of the screen) was when his partner, Derek the Bard, was unable to recognize a piece of music from ''VideoGame/MarioParty''. While Derek is RapidFireNameGuessing, Emile is giving him a silent (and exaggerated) DeathGlare.
** He really doesn't like ''Mario Party 10''. See RageBreakingPoint below.
** Implying that ''VideoGame/PaperMarioStickerStar'' was a good game. Every time the game is brought up in even the slightest positive light[[note]]mostly by Jon, who actually ''does'' like Sticker Star[[/note]] Chugga will almost always go flying into a [[TheRant rageful rant]] about why Sticker Star is a worst game he's ever had the "honor" of playing. A notable moment was from their ''VideoGame/SuperMetroid'' LP, where, when Chugga wonders if there were any other games he brushed off because of his impatientiness, Jon ends up citing Sticker Star as an example, at which point Chugga practically ''explodes'' at the comment.[[note]]Namely, because he actually ''did'' 100% the game and ''still'' thinks it was horseshit.[[/note]]
* BetterThanABareBulb: If there is any form of coincidence, irony, or status quo change in either the game or with the three of them, Chugga ''will'' point it out sooner or later.
* BornLucky: As per his normal [=LPs=], Chugga normally has the greatest luck of the three, especially in the first ''VideoGame/MarioParty'', including [[spoiler:winning the majority of the boards, having his stars switched with the leader at the last second thanks to Chance Time, and running into multiple Star Spaces in one turn.]] {{Subverted|Trope}} concerning the dice rolls that determine turn order, as he keeps getting to move last.
** Also, in the sequel, [[spoiler:getting a last second hidden star on the final turn in Pirate Land, ultimately leading to his victory.]]
** Jon points this out in Horror Land of ''Mario Party 2'' and refers to it as Chugga's "stupid luck".
*** Chugga himself lampshades this in ''VideoGame/FortuneStreet'' by yelling "SUPER LUCK ACTIVATE!" when gaining a free teleport to the bank. [[spoiler:inverted due to him being consistently dead last for the entire game.]]
** He claims that when he was a kid, he never knew that Game Guy in ''Mario Party 3'' took away all of your coins if you lost until he played with friends, because he ''never lost''.
** And in ''Mario Party 4'', [[spoiler:he wins Bowser's Gnarly Party thanks to getting three Happening spaces in a row to get the Happening Star, and Reversal of Fortune actually working in his favor.]]
** Subverted in ''Wheel of Fortune'', where he manages to get some fairly good spins which allow him to often get the first chance to solve the word puzzles ahead of Jon and Tim, but this only results in him being humiliated much more often with his bizarre guesses.
* BigNo: The only member who does this constantly, especially during Chance Time.
* BookDumb: Says he's dumb because he doesn't read (books), Jon is skeptical to this.
* BuffySpeak: Has begun doing this as of late.
* ButtMonkey: Normally not ''nearly'' as much as the others, but in ''Kirby's Return to Dream Land'', he becomes the subject of plenty of verbal abuse from Jon.
--> '''Jon''': [[ItMakesSenseInContext This is my pool party...I invited all the cool kids from school...]] Don't know why Kirby's here though.
--> '''Chugga''': Hey!
** Even ''Tim'' gets in on this:
--> '''Chugga''': I'm the American...[[BuffySpeak person.]]
--> '''Jon''': Dream? You're the American dream?
--> '''Tim''': [[DeadpanSnarker One more reason to move to Canada.]]
** In general he tends to be the target of a lot of sarcastic comments, especially when Masae gets involved.
** He becomes one in ''Wheel of Fortune'' when his unfamiliarity with the show and lack of expertise at word puzzles lead to "Calibrary Cuff Paula Deen." Chugga is genuinely embarrassed about it, and Jon's mocking doesn't help.
** After the first Runaway Guys stream, jokes about his lack of noticing innuendos has also become a trend.
** Chugga also has this role in a good chunk of ''Sonic Adventure'', in which he has the most deaths, including [[spoiler: on the game's WarmUpBoss of all things]] and has several glitches happen to him; however, it's downplayed as both Jon and Tim have their difficult moments as well.
** He ends up like this in ''Super Mario Bros. 3'' due to him not having as much experience with 8-bit games. He ends up with over four times the amount of deaths than both NCS and Jon '''combined'''.
** ''Mario Party 5'' does not treat Chugga well, constantly screwing over his chances of victory in favor of either [[TheRival Jon]] or the AI. Unlike the previous ''Mario Party'' games, where he managed to win at least one board (even in Jon's [[CurbStompBattle near sweep]] of ''Mario Party 4''), by the end of ''Mario Party 5'', [[spoiler: everyone '''BUT''' Chugga won at least one board, [[EpicFail including the]] [[TeamRocketWins AI]]]].
*** ''Mario Party 6'' does nearly the same thing as above, since he is abused over capsules and will have his winning chances be screwed over by Jon or the AI. Like the previous games, he and the AI does not win any board at the end.
** [[invoked]]Special mention goes to the May 2016 Runaway Guys livestream. At the end of a Bowser Party in ''Mario Party 10'', he, being the last one alive, fails a [[LuckBasedMission luck-based minigame]] and is launched right into Bowser (played by Jon), where he subsequently launches into an [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness extremely loud, salt-induced rant]] about how badly skewed Bowser Party is in Bowser's favor, and that he has never played a game of Bowser Party where Bowser lost. When Chugga inevitably loses to Jon, Jon and Masae suggest letting him play as Bowser for the next Bowser Party as catharsis. [[spoiler:He proceeds to witness Bowser losing in a Bowser Party for the first time in his life -- ''while playing as Bowser.'' It's so bad that [[TheWoobie #HugsForChuggs]] and variations thereof started flying around Twitch chat because the game was just that cruel to him.]]
* CallBack: Chugga has referenced the Runaway Guys videos in his then-current solo [=LPs=] -- ''VideoGame/Pikmin2'' and ''VideoGame/LuigisMansion1''. He specifically references "Don't Eat The Mushroom" whenever a poison mushroom shows up in the mansion.
** This has continued into later [=LPs=] as well.
* CharacterCatchphrase:
** "[[Music/VanHalen Might as welllll JUMP!]]"
** It's almost always him saying "[[VideoGame/MarioParty DOH I MISSED]]".
** "That is not the point" is his usual rebuttal when Jon wins an argument with him.
** [[NoIndoorVoice "WHERE YOU AT?"]] whenever something goes his way.
** Likes to say "Maybe-possibly-almost-not-quite" instead of just a simple "maybe" (or anything similar).
** In the ''Mario Party'' [=LPs=], whenever he's the 1 in a 3-on-1 minigame he declares "Everyone against the monkey!"
** "PlotTwist!"
** "We weren't recording!?!"
** "[Winner] takes it!" whenever a minigame or tournament match is won.
** "Got it!" whenever he gets something.
** "Oh baby," in precarious circumstances.
** "I have tears in my eyes right now," for when he finds something particularly funny.
* CharacterDevelopment: He's a real person and not a character, but this is the closest trope. He starts out in ''Mario Party'' rather normal, only having occasional LargeHam or CloudCuckooLander moments, with pretty much the only real humour from him coming from his rivalry with Jon. By ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'', however, he's become much more entertaining.
** Another example, from ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'' onwards, he indeed starts playing up his rivalry with Jon, trolling him for viewer enjoyment, making bad puns and references, etc. By the time Josh returns for ''New Super Mario Bros. U'', Josh seems the most openly annoyed by this, and by the end of the LP, and ever since, Chugga has toned it down and become more cooperative. Lampshaded in the credits for ''New Super Luigi U'' when Chugga himself admits that he was becoming more "grating" to listen to during video editing.
* CharacterExaggeration[=/=]{{Flanderization}}: After the incident in the first LP about him never having seen an Indiana Jones or Back to the Future film, Jon now reacts with exaggerated shock every time Chugga mentions he's seen ''any'' film.
** Similarly, in ''Mario Party 2'', Jon likes to exaggerate Chugga's love of the Wario "DOH, I MISSED" catchphrase (together with Chugga's encyclopaedic knowledge of games) by claiming Chugga has an annotated list of every single situation in the game where the catchphrase appears.
** Chugga himself seems to deliberately play up his own LargeHam, LeeroyJenkins and BookDumb [=/=] PopculturalOsmosisFailure tendencies to contrast with Jon more. There is quite a noticeable contrast with his solo [=LPs=].
*** On the other hand, it's been stated that Chugga is a lot more hyper and awkward in a social setting, which explains the difference between the channels.
*** Masae mentioned on her ask page that he tenses up when the recording is turned on. As seen in Tim's secret recording of them playing or in Tim's vlogs where he's not stressed.
* CheshireCatGrin: Jon informs us that Chugga has one of these.
** Referenced again in Subspace Emissary 5.
* ChildrenAreInnocent: He cites himself as this. Josh laughs.
* CloudCuckooLander: Exhibits traits of this. Mentioned in ''Fortune Street'' Mario Stadium:
--> '''Jon:''' Have we come to the realization that Emile just lives in his own world when it comes to commentary?
--> '''Josh:''' Yeah...
* CrazyPrepared: He states himself as such [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxtTur6qTD4&t=20m58s here]] because he practices for his [[LetsPlay LPs]] months in advance while talking to someone else. This is so he can adjust to the multiple factors that come with other people being around while focusing on playing the game. He also keeps everything super organized according to Jon and Tim and is usually the person with the most knowledge of their current project.
** This is most noticeable in ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosWii'', where Chugga plays pretty well despite stating elsewhere that he isn't good at 2D Mario games. In a later LP, he mentions that he's incapable of beating ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosWii'' when playing alone, which you wouldn't expect from his performance in the LP.
** He is the only member who has played "Little Big Planet 2"
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Not ''stupid'', per se, but tends to not play too well in ''Subspace Emissary''. However, when they reach normal matches rather than platforming, he proves to be quite competent.
** He shows this even more in the bonus battle and tournament, doing amazingly well in both. [[spoiler:He wins both of their matches in the bonus battle, and reaches fourth place in the tournament. And he likely could have gotten even higher, if he hadn't lost his first match due to a rolling crate spawning and ramming him offscreen.]]
* CuddleBug: Loves hugging the others. With his FriendlessBackground in elementary school, it may not be that weird.
* CultureBlind: A common RunningGag is that Jon or Tim will make a joke or reference about a popular movie or TV show, only for Emile to reveal that he's never seen the movie in question.
* CurbstompBattle: [[spoiler:He's on the delivering side in ''Mario Power Tennis'', constantly. He was one of the only ones to practice, though.]]
* CuteBruiser: He's socially awkward and doesn't resort to violence, but this doesn't mean he isn't powerful, as he goes to the gym on a regular basis to psyche himself up for recordings. This is exemplified best in the [[https://youtu.be/aKVJtatvur8 June 2022 TRG meetup]] when the Guys played a punching bag arcade game. Tim's strength was measured at 507, Jon's strength was measured at 523, and Emile's strength was measured at a whopping [[NumberOfTheBeast 666]]. A second punch scales his strength at ''786''.
* DeadpanSnarker: Almost as much as Jon.
* {{Determinator}}: According to [[http://www.formspring.me/PJon/q/329394223721759303 Jon's Formspring]], Chugga ''really'' wanted to be Player 1 in ''Kirby's Return to Dream Land'' since the three of them hadn't changed player numbers since the beginning, despite not being terribly good at the game. So he allegedly powered his way through the game in order to prove to Jon that he was capable of being Player 1. And he was, once the project began.
** Refused to let his shot go to waste and end up in the gutter in [[http://youtu.be/24pCBm3f_vY Kirby's Dream Course]] that he jumped around for a minute until he managed to get out. Tim even started singing [[Film/TheNeverendingStory Neverending Shot]]!
* FailedASpotCheck: Very prone to doing this, if his stories about why he didn't get very far in ''Videogame/BanjoKazooie'' and ''Videogame/MetroidPrime'' as a kid, as well as only realizing that there was a run button in ''VideoGame/DonkeyKongCountryReturns'' five worlds in during their playthrough of it are any indication.
%% * DoubleStandard [=/=]FantasticRacism: Played to very humorous effect and lampshaded every single time.
* FragileSpeedster: Later on in their ''100% Orange Juice'' playthrough, Emile switches to Sumika, who has +1 to attack and evasion but -1 to defense.
* FrenchJerk: Sometimes acts like one for funs and giggles with a thick but not very good accent, much to Jon's annoyance, but it's treated as kinda okay expect not really, as he's part French and all.
* TheGadfly: He loves to annoy Jon, because he thinks it's funny, and he'll often act weird just to get a reaction.
* GrammarNazi: Is the first to correct Jon whenever he says something like "Tim and me", reminding him to say "Tim and ''I''" instead.
-->'''Jon:''' Thank you, [[LampshadeHanging Grammar Nazi.]]
** Turns out it's practically a reflex: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swbjaGFdzxA Episode 60]] of his VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles1 LP reveals that while English is his first language, it was a secondary language for most of his family growing up, and they would ask him to correct their English to help them learn.
* {{Griefer}}: Usually the one that screws the other guys out of victories.
* TheHero: The unofficial leader, due to his gaming skill. Furthered by him being Player 1 in many of their [=LPs=].
* HeterosexualLifePartners:
** With Jon, off-screen.
** In 2022, Tim became his roommate.
* HiddenDepths:
** In episode 3 of ''Kirby's Return to Dream Land'', it's mentioned that he can beatbox.
** In ''Wheel of Fortune'', he reveals that, despite doing poorly in school overall, he was top of his class (or close to it) in History/Geography.
* HypocriticalHumor: Tortures Jon with the "Move faster Pokey" line for fun, but reacts in pure agony whenever Jon mentions [[VideoGame/{{Pikmin}} Steve]].
** To be fair, [[{{HypocriticalHumor}} Jon is really no better about Pokeys and torturing Emile with Steve]].
* IconicOutfit: His polo shirts, which Jon tries to exaggerate into a CargoShip. Even the game ''VideoGame/WiiParty'' joins in by randomly assigning a striped colour scheme to Chugga's Mii in one minigame, making it look like he's wearing a polo shirt.
* InnocentlyInsensitive[=/=]DidIJustSayThatOutLoud: The poor guy can't catch a break! That Lucahjin finds {{Accidental Innuendo}}s in everything he says doesn't help.
* JackOfAllStats: In ''100% Orange Juice'' he first plays as QP, who has a 0 in all stats and 5 HP, making him a bit more balanced than Jon (StoneWall-slash-GlassCannon combo Kyousuke) and Tim (the FragileSpeedster Suguri)
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He tends to act even more obnoxious than on his main channel, and has too much fun annoying his teammates, especially Jon, but he does care about them, and has also given some nice gifts for them on several occasions.
* LargeHam: Just like on his main channel, Emile is very cheerful and upbeat, and it shows up even more here than on his own channel. Jon pointed out on one of his streams that Emile is more boisterous when there's two or more people around him.
* LeeroyJenkins: Many of the other Guys' and Guests' deaths are due to Chugga running ahead and scrolling them offscreen.
* LethalChef: A bumper for Colosseum 2021 shows off his lack of cooking talent as Masae challenges him to make cookies without looking up a recipe. He joked about adding dill pickle mustard, the dough behaved like a batter, and the result was a nearly raw slab that smoked.
* MagikarpPower: In the guys' ''VideoGame/SuperMetroid'' LP, he starts the game having never played past the first 5 minutes due to missing an obvious path. By the time he finishes the game, he pulls of several difficult sequence breaks; has gotten quite accomplished at Bomb Jumping, Wall Jumping, and Shinesparking,; and managed to not only beat many of the game's more difficult bosses on the first try, but also would've beaten the escape sequence at the end first try with a split-second to spare were it not for a single poorly-timed button press right at the very end.
* TheMedic: During ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'', he usually pops the other players' [[BottomlessPitRescueService bubbles]].
* {{Manchild}}: Played for laughs, and done intentionally, but his childish humor easily fits this trope.
** Somewhat appropriate since he is the youngest of the three members.
* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy: His friendship with Masae is this dynamic, one can hear it well sometimes where he ScreamsLikeALittleGirl while she comes with {{Mighty Roar}}s.
--> Jon: What was THAT?!
* MrExposition: He is often the one to know the most about the game they're [=LPing=], and will supply information about its details and background as they play.
* MundaneMadeAwesome: Not really mundane but he mentions he thinks that a group of people manages to improvise a song and melody that works to be really cool. After asking him a bit more about it, the group's biggest music fan, Tim agrees.
* NarratingTheObvious: Of the three, his commentary tends toward this the most.
* NoIndoorVoice: Utterly ''screams'' whenever something really good or bad happens.
* OutOfCharacterMoment: He occasionally becomes angry or irritable, despite usually being the cheerful one. Most prominent examples are Bowser Land of ''Mario Party 2'', the PrecisionFStrike example below, and the ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosBrawl'' recording failure story listed on their EpicFail page.
* PhraseCatcher: Jon and some of the tournament guests have taken to calling him "Mr. Conroy" in a crotchety old man voice.
* PokeThePoodle: His revenge on Jon for trying to kill him is [[spoiler:to not replace the batteries in Jon's controller until after the game is over]].
* ThePollyanna: Chugga maintains a positive attitude in most everything he does. It's incredibly noticeable during Kirby's Return to Dream Land, where the guys are forced to repeat Stage 2 of Egg Engines to try and get 3 of the 4 Energy Spheres[[labelnote:*]]#1 required use of the Water powerup, and the room doesn't have any enemies that give Water, meaning Chugga had to get the power, and not lose it due to dying or having the power be destroyed by the magma blocks in the room. It took him '''6''' tries. #3 required the Spark powerup received from the stage's midboss, Dubior, which Emile had trouble getting. #4 was easier to get in comparison, as they only needed to carry a key to the end of the stage. Unfortunately, Jon was warped away before he could grab the Sphere, and Tim, assuming that it was gotten, exited the stage. In total, the stage needed to be retried '''''8 times.'''''[[/labelnote]], where Jon sounds incredibly frustrated, and Tim sounds relieved that it's over, Chugga is still his upbeat self.
* PrecisionFStrike:
** After they get a Star Coin which took them quite a while to get, only to have the only one alive, Jon, die at the end...
--> '''Chugga:''' I speak for everyone when I say this: [[ShoutOut Fuck you, [=ProtonJon=]]].
** Also, twice in episode 20 of ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosU''.
** Drops one to Jon at the beginning of "Cruise Week" during ''Wheel of Fortune'' when Jon brings up one of Chugga's ''many'' bad guesses.
** A [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness rather unenthused Chugga]] responds accordingly when ''Mario Party 10'' shows Chugga how many spaces he was to winning Bowser Party.
--->'''Chugga:''' Fuck you, game.
** Mixed with ClusterFBomb in ''Mario Party DS'' when he finds out that DK's Stone Statue did ''not'' have a cap on how many stars you can buy at once when he had initially assumed there was.
* PlayerTic: He tends to idly thumb at the A button when it's not his turn in games, this usually ends up biting him in games with shared text boxes or when pressing A advances to the next box and losing him and the others out on pertinent information.
* PopculturalOsmosisFailure: When it comes to things he's not interested in. He seemingly blocks it out, probabably so he won't [[ComplainingAboutShowsYouDontWatch Complain About Shows He Doesn't Watch]].
* PungeonMaster: He loves to crack [[SoBadItsGood hilariously bad]] [[IncrediblyLamePun puns]] at the other guys' expenses.
* PuppyDogEyes: At one point, though we can only take the word of the other players.
* RageBreakingPoint: In a livestream, while playing Bowser Party in ''Mario Party 10'', throughout the game he (along with Tim, Masae, and Tom Fawkes, while Jon is Bowser) are subject to the mode's various imbalances, which Emile takes with amusement at best and annoyance at worst. But when he [[YankTheDogsChain reaches the end of the board, as the last one alive with very low health, fails a luck-based minigame against Bowser Jr. that sends him back to immediately fight Bowser,]] ''and'' the severely broken (in Bowser's favor) Clawful Climb is chosen as a minigame, he ''absolutely snaps'' harder than he's ever even faked anger in any video, his or the collab's.
--> '''Emile (screaming)''': ''WHY?! WHY?!'' Okay! Legitimately! ''Why'' is it cool, to hate Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival, '''but it's not cool to hate THIS GAME?!'''
--> '''Jon''': [[SincerityMode Tone it down! Jesus!]]
* ReadTheFreakingManual: Tries to get away with not doing this, under the pretense that nobody else does it either. He pays for it each time.
* RealMenWearPink: Shaves his legs. Something Jon didn't notice before Emile told him, Tim noticed when he gushed over Daisy's legs.
* RedOniBlueOni: Red to all the guys as the loud and easily excitable one.
* SadistTeacher: Claims in high school during the third Holiday Wheel of Fortune to have had several of these who bullied him regularly including one who almost made him give up, considering he, at one point wanted to end his life (see above, just like Tim and Jon) one has to wonder if this is the [[FreudianExcuse reason]] he wasn't a very good student.
* ScreamsLikeALittleGirl: Before the PrecisionFStrike example, but after Jon died, Chugga goes into this territory.
** Episode 10 of Subspace Emmissary, when having to confront a red Pikmin.
* SoProudOfYou: In the second episode of ''Super Metroid'' where he not only manages to get the rythm to bomb jump very high, but manages to get the health tank he couldn't reach in the first episode, which can't be obtained in morph ball form and manages to get out of it in a split second, and this within only 5 minutes (some use years to pull it off). The other two then declare how proud they're of him.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Despite him and his friends always shortening his nickmame to Chugga, many refer to him as Chuggaa.
* StupidSexyFlanders: In one of his ''VideoGame/PlantsVsZombies'' Let's Play [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cl19yGYiFNA&t=11m13s videos]], Tim says that while he isn't gay, he thinks Chugga is gorgeous.
* SurroundedByIdiots: In an inversion of what normally occurs, Chugga claims this during Episode 10 of the ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'' LP.
--> '''[=ProtonJon=]:''' Oh, so ''you're'' the one saying [you're] surrounded by idiots now!
* ThatsWhatSheSaid: His version is to say "...in ''bed''" in a suggestive tone.
* ThrowTheDogABone: [[spoiler: After failing to win any of the main boards in ''Mario Party 5'', Chugga wins the Minigame Circuit board as a consolation prize.]]
** [[spoiler: After failing to win any main boards in either ''Mario Party 5'' or ''Mario Party 6'', Chugga finally wins boards again during ''Mario Party 7'', and even wins the project by overall stats.]]
* TookALevelInBadass:
** He's more competent in ''New Super Luigi U'' than the other New Super Mario projects.
** In ''Castle Crashers'', he really starts to make progress once he learns how to use his magic.
** And in Round 2 of Wheel of Fortune, he does much better even [[spoiler: winning three rounds]].
** In the [=PS1=] version of Wheel of Fortune, he [[spoiler: wins the whole game. No, [[SincerityMode really]].]]
* {{Troll}}: It's difficult ''not'' to imagine Chugga making a [[MemeticMutation trollface]] when he makes an IncrediblyLamePun or screws Jon over. His teachers always said (and he agrees) that he does not work well with others, which explains why he acts differently than in his solo videos.
* TryEverything: His strategy for Wheel Of Fortune whenever there's one letter left.
* UnfitForGreatness: As far as the ''Kirby's Return to Dream Land'' LP goes. He fancies himself the leader at all times, but he doesn't know Kirby nearly as well as other games or as much as Jon knows Kirby. Still wants to be the leader. See {{Determinator}} above.
* UnskilledButStrong: Of the magical variety in the ''Castle Crashers'' LP. He has the highest magic stat of the group, and the lightning magic of the red knight he plays as is considered by Jon and Jake to be some of the best in the game. However, he rarely thinks to use his magic until near the end of the game, is almost never able to hit when he does use it, and uses only the first spell of the red knight for the majority of the project.
* ViewersAreGeniuses: Given that his tastes lean towards the obscure, and his tendency to gush over things he likes, expect a lot of references that may not seem familiar at all.
* WellDoneSonGuy: He seems to want to impress [=ProtonJon=] (his inspiration to be an [=LPer=]) in the ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'' playthrough.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: He does not like the Scarfy enemy from the Kirby series at all, mainly because of its' nightmare face.
* YoungAndInCharge: He is the youngest of the three core members, and he is also the one in charge of maintaining the [=YouTube=] channel, editing the footage (until they hired [[https://twitter.com/motiondan?lang=en [=MotionDan=]]]), and uploading the videos.

The second of the main three Runaway Guys, LetsPlay/NintendoCapriSun (also just "NCS" or "Tim") is the quietest and nicest of the three. [[HoistByHisOwnPetard This usually means Chugga and Jon will beat him]], though he's not by any means bad at games. In the ''Mario Parties'', ''Mario Kart 64'' and ''Fortune Street'', he played Yoshi. In the ''New Super Mario Bros.''series, he played Luigi. In ''Kirby's Return to Dream Land'', he played King Dedede. In ''Super Smash Bros'', he initially played Yoshi in his match against Chugga, then switched to Fox for the remainder of the video. In the TournamentArc of ''Super Smash Bros Brawl'', he played Diddy Kong. In ''Mario Power Tennis'', he played Yoshi. In thr ''Rayman'' series, he played a Teensie. In ''Castle Crashers'', he played Green Knight. In ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaFourSwordsAdventures'', he played Green Link. In ''VideoGame/SecretOfMana'' he played the Sprite [[note]]Popoi[[/note]]. In ''VideoGame/OneHundredPercentOrangeJuice'', he plays as Suguri.

-> '''Wins:''' ''Mario Party'' [[note]]Wario's Battle Canyon[[/note]], ''Mario Kart 64'' [[note]]Rainbow Road[[/note]], ''Fortune Street'' [[note]]Yoshi's Island, Peach's Castle, Starship Mario[[/note]], ''Wii Party'' [[note]]Swap Meet[[/note]], ''Mario Party 3'' [[note]]Deep Bloober Sea, Spiny Desert, Woody Woods, Backtrack; overall Battle Royale winner[[/note]], ''Mario Party 4'' [[note]]Mega Board Mayhem[[/note]], ''Mario Party 5'' [[note]]Rainbow Dream[[/note]], ''Mario Party 6'' [[note]]Snowflake Lake, Castaway Bay, Minigame Mode 1: Battle Bridge, Minigame Mode 3: Mount Duel[[/note]], ''Wii Party U'' [[note]]Highway Rollers[[/note]], ''Mario Party 7'' [[note]]Pyramid Park, Bowser's Enchanted Inferno![[/note]], ''Mario Party 8'' [[note]]Koopa's Tycoon Town[[/note]], ''100% Orange Juice!''[[note]]Planet Earth, Highway Heist, Tomomo's Abyss, Treasure Island[[/note]], ''Mario Party DS''[[note]]Bowser's Pinball Machine, Battle Cup[[/note]]
----
* TheAce: {{Lampshade|Hanging}}d by Emile in ''Banjo-Kazooie''. Tim has a reputation for casually saying he can do something that everybody else is incapable of doing, only for said people to not believe him, until he not only pulls it off, but exceeds their expectations by a landslide.
** Also in Wheel of Fortune, where his guesses have been so good that many commenters, as well as fellow Guys, have encouraged him to audition for the show.
* AchievementsInIgnorance: In one episode of [[VideoGame/SuperSmashBros The Subspace Emissary]], Tim makes one hell of a recovery as Captain Falcon without even knowing he was playing as him. (He thought he was Donkey Kong, who was Jon's character)
* ApologeticAttacker: If he hits a teammate by accident.
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: It's been theorized by the other Guys that the reason he keeps dying in the games is because he's not paying much attention as he plays.
** This was definitely present in the final stages of ''Subspace Emissary'', where Tim died or caused the others to die constantly. Reached its logical conclusion in this superb NonSequitur right at the end.
--> '''NCS''': [[ItMakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext Haha! I didn't think I got that rupee. Hahahahah!]]
** And in ''Rayman Orgins'', it's been revealed he has been suffering from sleep apnea, which makes his lack of focus make more sense.
* BadassAdorable: In his own way, this grown man manages to be adorable and a badass at video games if he goes serious.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Despite being likely the nicest of the trio, he has his moments of awesome. He also shows this in real life, such as when he got tired of a troll starting an argument in the comments of an episode of ''[=LittleBigPlanet=]'' and stepped in to shut them up.
* TheBigGuy: Type II. Adapts this role on the team as he is known for being a GentleGiant. And he has played the more bulky characters in playthroughs.
* BigBrotherMentor: Mixed in with some TricksterMentor for Emile and Jon. Jon often asks him for advice which he's more than willing to give, although he often plays tricks on the two as well (like a real big brother would).
* BornUnlucky: Has the worst luck of the three by far, which leads to him finishing last in many ''Mario Party'' boards.
* ButtMonkey: Tim will usually finish last most the time, especially in ''Mario Party'' and [[VideoGame/SuperSmashBros The Subspace Emissary]]. This does cause the others to go easy on him.
* CharacterCatchphrase:
** Aside from the ones from his regular playthroughs, he has taken to usually using a simple "[[{{Angrish}} Dahh!]]" when he screws up, rather than yelling, cussing, or narrating what just happened like Chugga and Jon.
** Whenever a beach level appears, he often makes the same "Son of a beach!" pun.
** If he makes a reference that someone else points out, he has a tendency to say "I'm afraid so."
** He often responds to Chugga's [[{{Pun}} puns]] with a distinctive "[[SuckinessIsPainful Augh!]]"
** "What the balls?"
** Whenever things don't go Tim's way, he tends to sigh "Man, oh man".
** Every time he sees Emile hugging (or attempting to hug) Jon, he says "I'm witnessing something...".
* CloudCuckooLander: Somewhat. He tends to talk to himself in the background, usually while others are talking over him, so viewers will often only catch snippets of what he's saying and wonder what the hell's running through his mind. This can often lead to an OrphanedPunchline.
** Some of the best examples of this are the [[https://youtu.be/z66e0w9SrvU?t=7m18s drawings]] he makes while the team plays TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons on WebVideo/StephenVlog.
* ColdHam: As TheQuietOne does he not speak up as often as you'd wish but when he does it almost always hammy. When brave enough does he get a LargeHam enough to beat both Emile and Jon's, and they love it.
* ConservationOfNinjitsu: Tends to play better when everyone else has died and he's the only player left on screen.
* CrazyPrepared: Usually averted, a lot of his problems stem from lack of experience with the games the Guys are playing. ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosU'' is an exception though--he has played it enough to have practically memorized it (as Jon points out) and it shows.
** After faring poorly on the first two ''VideoGame/MarioParty'' games thanks to lack of experience, he practiced ''Mario Party 3'' for a year before the LP (according to Chugga). The result? [[spoiler:He won the LP]].
* CrossPlayer: In ''VideoGame/LittleBigPlanet'', he is a Sack Girl he calls "Victorian Lady Gaga." In ''Series/WheelOfFortune,'' he uses a female avatar. In ''VideoGame/RaymanOrigins,'' he starts out as a regular Teensie but eventually switches over to the Princess Teensette costume.
** This is a reference to the In-joke "Tim, his wife" according to a Wheel of Fortune video.
* DarkHorseVictory: Teased for [[VideoGame/MarioParty Yoshi's Tropical Island]], [[spoiler:but Jon won instead. Tim did, however, win earlier at Wario's Battle Canyon]].
* DeadpanSnarker: Occasionally, but definitely not as much as the others.
* DemotedToExtra: In the ''Pikmin'' let's play, Tim doesn't give anywhere near as much info about the game to Jon as Emile does, and he doesn't give that much commentary either, leaving several episodes where the amount of times he speaks is in the single digits.
* EveryoneHasStandards: Chugga joked about pee. Tim, known for his ToiletHumor, thought it was disgusting.
* FragileSpeedster: Plays as Suguri in ''100% Orange Juice'', who has +1 to attack and +2 to evasion, but only 4 HP and -1 defense.
* FunnyBackgroundEvent: If a viewer listens closely, Tim can be heard saying some weird stuff.
** Averted in newer as Emile bought microphones for them all so one can hear them all, so when he comes in puns in reaction to Emile's and they don't respond is it because they can't hear it rather than them ignoring him, because he speaks softly close to the mike making it seem he speaks as loudly as them.
** During Colosseum 2022, he began almost every segment he was on doing an extended Pog expression as others introduced the segment.
* {{Gasshole}}: NCS belches several times in just about every video.
** [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] once when they pointed out that someone other than him belched.
** On Yoshi's Tropical Island, once the rest of the group got a whiff of something, he admits he'd passed gas three times by that point.
** During the Robbin Hood Ruins board of ''VideoGame/FortuneStreet'', Tim rips one so violent that Chugga refers to it as "Tectonic Gas" and Lucahjin likens it to being hit by a paintball. Jon then notes to her that it's just an average session of The Runaway Guys.
* GlassCannon: In contrast to his StoneWall strategy in ''Castle Crashers'', Tim spends much of ''Dokapon Kingdom'' focusing on his offensive capabilities.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: In 2022, he became roommates with Emile.
* HiddenDepths: He shows that he is very skilled at button mashing in ''Mario Party 2''. He even avoids being caught by Chugga in Crane Game, when Chugga had 40 seconds to go. This shows up again in ''Mario Party 4'' where, after Chugga talks about how he has improved his button mashing skills through training and hopes the minigame "Domination" comes up so he can demonstrate this, it does so - and he's ''still'' beaten by Tim.
** He's also turned out to be incredibly skilled at Wheel of Fortune, frequently figuring out puzzles with only a handful of letters revealed. Jon and Chugga have both suggested that he try auditioning for the show.
** In the intro to the Mario Circuit board of ''Fortune Street'', after two of the dice rolls give the number 43, he notes that that is the atomic number of technetium.
** It is noted in certain series that he's actually a really competent gamer, just not in the games that are typically played for the channel. Namely, he has great skill in most of the older 2D platformers, which he demonstrates in the ''Super Mario Bros. 3'' and ''Super Metroid'' runs.
* MadLibsCatchPhrase: Eventually, he keeps making his 'in the bathroom' joke, but replacing the last word with anything relevant.
** He also does this with his "A ''bee?!''" catchphrase, switching it out with anything relevant that rhymes, such as "A ''key?!''"
* MagikarpPower: After struggling through much of the ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'' run, he ends up practically ''carrying'' the team come the final stage.
** As the guys make more projects, his overall skill seems to be slowly improving. He was rather clumsy and incompetent during ''Mario Party 1'', less so in ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'', was able to hold his own in ''Mario Party 2'', had the fewest deaths for a decent chunk of ''Kirby's Return to Dream Land'', ended ''[=LittleBigPlanet=]'' with the second-fewest deaths... time will tell if he will be able to challenge Jon as TheAce.
* NiceGuy: Tim is very gentle compared to the others, only stealing from the CPU during ''Mario Party''. He also never dicks over anyone else during ''NSMB Wii'', either by intentionally using them as springboards or grabbing them and throwing them down pits.
** This also adds a bit of FridgeBrilliance as to his low score on ''Mario Party''; nice guys finish last.
** He's begun abiding by this a bit less in later playthroughs; while he doesn't act like a total jerk and avoids screwing with the others when they need to use teamwork, he has stopped going easy.
** He starts to subvert this a bit in ''New Super Luigi U''.
** Jon notes in a stream a double-edged sword of his: he ''can't say "no"'' to people.
* OnlySaneMan: Almost the entire time in ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii''. Also during other games, though to a somewhat lesser extent.
* OutOfCharacterMoment: Any time NCS sends his voice skyrocketing for one reason or another (to the extent he outdid even ''Chugga'') usually ends up catching everyone involved off guard.
* PhraseCatcher / SayMyName: Chugga has a tendency to shout "(Go) Tim!" (or "Luigi!" in the ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'' LP) whenever NCS does something noteworthy, either good or bad.
* PowerCreepPowerSeep: NCS is normally a ''very'' good gamer, having done quite a few {{Self Imposed Challenge}}s and the like [[note]]including beating {{VideoGame/Contra}} on Hard WITHOUT DYING[[/note]]. However, since the ''VideoGame/MarioParty'' LP started, he's been the ButtMonkey of the group, having both lost more coins than he's earned and placing in dead last ''in at least half of the boards''.
** He got this in ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii''. So far, he's [[spoiler:died on the first Goomba, lost more lives than anyone else, and was the first player to have to use a continue]]. This can mostly be attributed to his nice guy nature in refusing to use everyone else as springboards, and falling to his death ([[BewareTheNiceOnes except once]]). And as Josh Jepson pointed out in a comment, he actually feels ''he's'' doing worse than Tim because [[MercyInvincibility Tim never uses]] [[BottomlessPitRescueService the bubble mechanic]]. On the bright side, he's collected a good majority of the Star Coins so far. After a certain point, he started to do better than Josh, but he was still miles behind Chugga and Jon in the long run.
** This was lampshaded in a Facebook post:
--->'''[Chuggaaconroy]:''' Tim can do 3-heart runs of [[Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda Zelda]], beat Contra on Hard with no continues, and even beat Super Ghouls & Ghosts, yet despite all this, he does not understand the concept of [[PressXToNotDie pressing A to not die]].
** Chugga finally came out and just asked him about it, and Tim responded that it's the control sticks in general that mess him up so bad. The evidence matches up, as all the games he's pulled off incredibly well were before the advent of analogue sticks. Also, the fact that there are more players on the screen was mentioned.
** He did somewhat better in ''Mario Party 2'', but unfortunately the RandomNumberGod is still causing his overall performance to suffer. Sadly he didn't win any boards on that one.
** [[spoiler:''Mario Party 3'' became his turning point, where he won three out of the six main boards.]]
** Completely averted when the 3 play ''Super Mario Bros. 3''. He's incredibly skilled at 8-bit games and gets the chance to show off how good he is.
* PungeonMaster: Not to the same extent as Chugga, but he does make quite a few puns. And they're generally given a warmer reception.
** His puns are generally subtler than Chugga's and he doesn't point out when he's making them, meaning that [[StealthPun quite a few of them actually slip under the other Guys' radar]], especially in ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosU''.
* TheQuietOne: A common complaint in the earlier ''Mario Party'' videos is that the normally very talkative [=NCS=] was being far too quiet; all three contributors promised that he would come out of his shell in later videos. And so he did, but he's still definitely the quietest of the three.
** He does do a lot of talking, though, but mainly to himself in the background.
** {{Inverted}} twice in the filler videos. In the ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros.'' round-robin tournament, his "Let's get ready to RUMBLLLLLLLLE!" was so loud and long that it left Jon and Chugga dumbfounded, then [[spoiler:when he won in the lost recording of ''VideoGame/MarioKart64'']], his BigYes reached [[LargeHam Chugga]] levels of loud.
*** Jon also mentions in his interview with [=LPCatchPhrases=] that [=NCS=] is a generally quiet and shy person, so part of it is probably him warming up to his new team members.
** It is mentioned in "Wheel of Fortune - Happy Holidays" that NCS' microphone is usually cranked up more than the others' in order to make up for his soft-spokenness.
*** In that same video, NCS' quiet voice actually works to his advantage: at one point he unknowingly gives away a big hint to a puzzle, but Jon and Chugga don't hear it (while the viewers can thanks to his mic) and thus screw up their attempts at solving it.
* RedOniBlueOni: Always blue. Even calmer and more careful than Jon was in ''Mario Party''. Plus, it sticks during the transition to ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii''.
* SmugSnake: Not normally, but his loss in [[spoiler:''Fortune Street'''s Delfino Plaza]] was in part due to him being arrogant while bidding on one of Chugga's shops, causing him to spend too much and blow his lead.
* StoneWall: Puts a lot of emphasis on mostly Defense to his character in ''Castle Crashers''.
* StraightMan: Of the ''Rayman Legends'' let's play.
* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill: In ''100% Orange Juice'', [[spoiler:Tim wins the ''Treasure Island'' board with 821 stars.]]
* ThrowTheDogABone: [[spoiler: He has unusually good luck during Bowser's Pinball Machine, where he racks up a large number of stars and wins the board, breaking Emile's streak from the previous boards in Mario Party DS. This is quite a contrast from his normal luck, even earlier in the same game, he found a hidden block that contained a Ztar which deducted a star from his total.]]
* TokenGoodTeammate: Tim is usually the only guy who won't resort to messing with his teammates, and helps them out when they need it, especially in New Super Mario Bros. U where he kinda functions as the OnlySaneMan.
* TookALevelInBadass:
** While still the only one to never win a match, he did KO Jon once or twice during the ''Smash Bros.'' filler video, and then [[spoiler:won Rainbow Road during the ''Mario Kart'' video]].
** He's also gotten ''loads'' better as of ''Mario Party 2''. However, due to Jon and Chugga also being a bit better and luck usually not going in his favour, this tends to not show as well as it should.
** The Mini-Game coaster showed that he got ''exceptional'' in playing the mini-games, particularly Hot Rope Jump. The challenge is that you have to jump '''fifty times''' and he did it on his first try!
** And in ''Fortune Street'', he was consistently staying in first place with a huge lead, and then, [[spoiler:he won even when Jon seriously threatened his victory. Emile did cheer Tim on and strategically put what little money he had into Tim's stocks at the end, but it was mainly Tim's own win over the usual ace of the team.]]
** He plays very well in ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosU''. As of episode 14, he has the second least deaths and is actively gunning for the star coin lead.
** By ''Mario Party 3'', [[spoiler: he won Deep Bloober Sea due to a Hidden Block and good use of his items. He then won Spiny Desert, and as if that weren't enough, he THEN won Woody Woods by a mere 21 coins! That makes him the victor of more boards than the previous 2 ''Mario Parties'' COMBINED.]]
** Mixed with troll in Four Swords Adventures where a force gem worth a 1000 appears but behind some trees so they can't get it. The others stress and try to get to the next screen so Tingle won't take it. Tim slowly walks up to the gem and uses the boomerang to get it.
--> ''Tim'': "[[PrecisionFStrike Fuck you Tingle!]]"
* {{Troll}}: Avoided getting an extra life in their Sonic Adventure let's play to screw [[TheAce Jon]] [[SidetrackedByTheGoldSaucer over]] as it was his turn afterwards. [[spoiler:It resulted in him getting the only Game Over in the LP.]]
* YankTheDogsChain: [[spoiler: He gets insane luck in ''Mario Party 8''[='=]s first board, even getting '''''triple sevens''''', he still got ''second to last''.]]

The third of the three main Runaway Guys, Jon is also a great player, but is usually messed up by [[TheComputerIsACheatingBastard the game]] or Chugga. Tends to act like he's SurroundedByIdiots. In ''Mario Party 1'', ''Mario Kart 64'', ''Mario Party 2'', and ''Super Smash Bros. 64'', he played Mario. In the ''New Super Mario Bros'' series, he played Blue Toad. In ''Kirby's Return to Dream Land'', he primarily played as Meta Knight [[note]]Switching to Waddle Dee and Kirby in situational cases[[/note]]. In ''Fortune Street'' and all ''Mario Party'' titles starting from ''3'', he played Waluigi (or Rosalina in games where she is available). In ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'', he played Ike. In ''Mario Power Tennis'', he played Luigi. In the ''Rayman'' series, he played Globox. In ''Castle Crashers'', he played Blue Knight. In ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaFourSwordsAdventures'', he played Blue Link. In ''VideoGame/SecretOfMana'' he played the Girl [[note]]Primm[[/note]]. In ''VideoGame/OneHundredPercentOrangeJuice'', he played as Kyousuke before switching to Sora (Military).

----
* TheAce: Although [[VideoGame/MarioParty bad luck]] or [[VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosWii his teammates]] tend to screw him over. [[spoiler:Cemented when he won the ''Brawl'' TournamentArc.]] He also took the longest out of the three guys to get shut out during a ''Mario Party'' collab, with Tim getting shut out in ''Mario Party 2'', Emile in ''Mario Party 5'' and Jon himself in ''Mario Party DS''.
* ApologisesALot: Interestingly in the ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaFourSwordsAdventures'' let's play, even many times that aren't even his fault but rather the controls.
* BerserkButton: His [[OldShame old catchphrases]], such as "[[VideoGame/KaizoMarioWorld MOVE FASTER POKEY!]]"
** Insulting his mother is shown to be one in the first episode of Horror Land.
** He also hates when people take his [[VitriolicBestBuds relationship with Emile]] the wrong way, since the two are actually best friends in real life.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Comes along with feeling like a BigBrotherMentor for Emile.
* BigBrotherMentor: If Emile wonders what anything means, Jon will tell him, even though Emile could easily have searched for it online. Emile even does just that when even Jon and Tim doesn't know.
** This trust even goes to when Emile heard that in a Digimon season the kids evolve into Digimon, and Jon believed this to be the [[Anime/DigimonTamers third season]], and even though Emile felt that he was wrong (and he was, the season the kids mainly evolve into Digimon is the [[Anime/DigimonFrontier fourth season]]), Emile chose to trust him.
* BornUnlucky: In complete contrast to Chugga, Jon sometimes has horrible luck, especially in ''VideoGame/MarioParty3'' and ''VideoGame/MarioPartyDS''; and if a roll of the dice has the potential to screw him over, it's probably going to.
** Inverted in ''Mario Parties 4-6'' and ''8'', where he wins the most boards on those games, and shutting out Emile in 5 and 6.
** Zigzagged in ''Mario Party 7'', since he, Emile, AND Tim each won 2 of the 6 boards, with him winning Grand Canal and Windmilleville, but having random moments of bad luck, such as Peach constantly dueling him in Pagoda Peak, despite Emile being in first place most of the game, and losing a minigame of Catching Tunes in Pyramid Park due to Yoshi (played by Tim) getting the last note bouncing off Waluigi's head.
** ''Mario Party DS'' takes this to new heights not seen since ''3''; Jon is ''constantly'' screwed over by the game on just about every board of the game in one way or another, be it constantly landing on hexes that cost him stars, ending up with less than desirable items, having opportunities to gain stars taken away from him, and even having one potential victory ripped away from him due to misinformation from Emile, and scoring no victories on any of the boards.
* CharacterCatchphrase:
** "[[TheComputerIsACheatingBastard GAAAAAAAAME!]]"
** During ''Mario Party'', he says "PENTAGON PUNCH!" a few times, referring to Mario's rather pentagon-shaped glove.
** During ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'', his main catchphrase was "Bye guys!" when he ran further from the rest of the pack.
** He says "Thanks, X!" after someone references X person or media, and sometimes says "...''Really?''" when Chugga makes a reference or joke he considers to be a bit of a stretch.
** "Only you." whenever Emile does or says something weird.
** "Oh my God, Emile!" Whenever Emile says something embarrassing.
** Tended to use "Happy Birthday!" to Chugga whenever screwing him out of a collectable in the ''Kirby's Return to Dream Land'' run. Well, during the period immediately surrounding Chugga's real life birthday.
** Another one used for TheComputerIsACheatingBastard scenarios is "I call shenanigans!"
** Whenever Chugga calls him out on his trolling, Jon usually replies with "what?" or "I don't know what you're talking about".
** He also has taken up the habit to respond to Chugga's "[[NoIndoorVoice WHERE YOU AT?!]]" with "[[DeadpanSnarker Over here, can't you see?]]"
** Whenever he has bad luck or Chugga has good luck (i.e. saying that they need a certain dice roll number to land on a particular space, and then getting it), he says "'''Course!''"
** "YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe" throughout ''Mario Party 3''.
** "[[FakeDifficulty Slippery shoes!]]", "[[InterfaceScrew I hit bubble!]]", and "[[BigWhat WHAT?!]]" (all angrily) throughout ''New Super Luigi U''.
** "Waluigi number X" whenever something good happens to him while playing as Waluigi, where X is a word (not necessarily a number) related to his feelings on the matter. Lampshaded in Shy Guy's Jungle Jam Part 5 when Jon says that "Everything's a number but an actual number to Waluigi."
** "[[SarcasmMode GO TEAM!]]" when everyone screws up at once in a TotalPartyKill in the ''New Super Mario Bros'' [=LPs=].
** "Luck be a lady tonight" when he's trying to get a dice roll he needs (or similar).
** "Come off it!" has started popping up lately as his new "getting screwed over" phrase, particularly in ''Mario Party 5''.
** Sometimes, he'll shout "Good morning!" at something or someone randomly.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: He's not nearly as much of a TokenEvilTeammate, LargeHam, or DeadpanSnarker in ''Mario Party'' as he is in future playthroughs.
** Him being a hardcore troll set on killing Emile fades after the first ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'' (though in ''U'' he had to make an active effort to avoid this). In later games, he only targets Emile if there's a valid reason.
* ClusterFBomb: More often than the other two main guys.
* CrassCanuck: Jon has garnered a reputation for himself of not only being a Canadian content creator, as Emile loves to point out, but also for having a very noticeable HairTriggerTemper over how [[BornUnlucky unlucky]] (espcially in ''Mario Party 3'' and ''Mario Party DS'') he gets.
* CurbStompBattle: [[spoiler: Gives one to Jon Paula]] in the [[VideoGame/MarioTennis Mario Power Tennis]] project, [[spoiler: Only to immediately be on the receiving end of one from Emile.]]
* DeadpanSnarker: As per his usual [=LPs=]:
-->'''Emile:''' I FEEL LIKE A MAN!
-->'''Jon:''' It's about time.
-->'''Emile:''' ...Shut up.
* DisproportionateRetribution: The reason he's trying to kill Chugga's player avatar in ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'' is for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=AXkR_8TIdaE Chugga throwing a pillow at him]]. [[JustifiedTrope Though he did get a black eye from it]], because it wasn't a normal, "fluffy," type of pillow. It was one of those hard cushions used for back support.
* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas: As mentioned above, he does not take kindly to Chugga making fun of his mother.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Despite his jerkish persona, whenever Chugga accidentally or purposely makes a racist or sexist joke, Jon will usually call him out on it. Biggest example is in "Minigame Island" where Chugga's incessant repeating of "Knock Block Tower" in a stereotypically Asian voice, causes Jon to finally snap and when Chugga fails, he says "That's what you get for racism!" Chugga rarely does this anymore, but whenever he does, Jon will usually call him out on it.
* {{Flanderization}}: In ''Mario Party'', he tends to be a jerk sometimes, but only when it's justified or PlayedForLaughs. In ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'', he becomes an outright TokenEvilTeammate whose sole purpose is to kill Chugga.
* ForTheEvulz: After getting over Chugga nearly giving him a black eye in ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'', he's still determined to make Chugga use a continue. When asked why, he simply says "Because I can!"
* FreudianExcuse[=/=]ParentalNeglect: PlayedForLaughs in ''Mario Party 3'''s Spiny Desert.
-->'''Chugga:''' And I'm special. My mommy says so.\
'''NCS:''' Yeah, so did mine. What a coincidence.\
'''Jon:''' I don't think mine ever did. *{{beat}}* That explains a lot about me, actually.
* TheGadfly: During his solo play, he loves it when [[GoodBadBugs games glitch up on him and will often try to invoke ones he finds particularly amusing]], or will abuse regular functions of games to the same effect. As a result, he's adopted this role for his turns during the Guys' [[VideoGame/SonicAdventure Sonic Adventure]] LP, spending the entirety of Episode 3 messing around with a statue of an old man with very little progress to show for it.
* GlassCannon: In ''100% Orange Juice'' he plays as Kyousuke. While Kyousuke is a StoneWall by default, his Hyper allows him to swap around his -1 attack and +2 defense stats around, becoming this.
* HandicappedBadass:
** During the ''Smash Bros.'' filler video, he [[spoiler:beat Chugga and Tim, while using a controller he wasn't used to]].
** During the Tournament, it was revealed that he didn't get a lot of sleep and was tired beforehand. And he [[spoiler:won anyway.]]
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Emile in real life. Though some fans seem to ignore the "heterosexual" part.
* HiddenDepths: Actually likes puns and wordplays, but only clever ones. Chugga's are often too forced for his tastes, which is why he prefer Tim's.
* {{Hipster}}: Repeatedly calls himself as such. Especially in ''VideoGame/LittleBigPlanet'', where he enjoys sticking hipster glasses on everything.
* HypercompetentSidekick: During ''Kirby's Return to Dream Land''. He has to point things out to Chugga, who insists on still leading the team.
* HypocriticalHumor: He hates puns and gets annoyed when Chugga makes one, but while playing ''Quiplash'' on a stream, he answered that [[Series/SesameStreet Big Bird's]] last words would be [[spoiler:"[[IncrediblyLamePun Actually I 8 9]]"]].
* InTouchWithHisFeminineSide: In June 2022, Jon discovered that the activity that relaxes him the most is painting his nails, as it forces him to not do anything else. He even managed to get compliments from strangers who thought his nail designs looked beautiful, and a Target clerk near where Emile lives while he was visiting him pointed Jon towards an online nail polish shop that offers unique paint designs and tutorial sessions.
* JerkassWoobie: Invoked.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He can be mean to Chugga, but he really does care about him.
* TheLancer: Will usually plays the more snarky and cranky second banana to Chugga's hyper goofball nature.
* LargeHam: Oh so much, so much that the others collapse by laughing, particularly in the later playthroughs and '''especially''' in Fortune Street.
-->'''Jon:''' [[BigNo NO!]] [[ItMakesSenseInContext MY HELICOPTER! WHY IS MY HELICOPTER NOT IN MY POCKET!]]
* LethalChef: While Emile sucks at baking, he can cook really good meals. Jon, on the other hand, has self-admitted that he sucks at making food period. This is best shown off during his ''My Disney Kitchen'' stream, where he goes out of his way to make the messiest and most disgusting food possible, and even Lucah, ''his own wife'', has [[EveryoneHasStandards summarized his cooking talents]] with [[https://c.tenor.com/QWAWFyv5TwgAAAAC/homer-simpson-corn-flakes.gif this GIF]].
* LittleNo: He often gives one with a sigh when he fails at something in-game, especially if he was pessimistic about his prospects to start with.
* LuckManipulationMechanic: Switches to Sora (Military) in ''100% Orange Juice'', who can use her Hyper to roll 5's for every action until her turn ends.
* {{Manchild}}: This song he sang during the ''Four Swords Adventures'' says it all:
-->'''Jon:''' ''You guys are bad at exploring, you guys are bad at exploring~!''
* NoRespectGuy: The running gag in ''Four Swords Adventures'. Mainly because of a glitch that sometimes messes up the votes.
-->'''Jon:''' [[BigWhat WHAT?!]] [[DudeWheresMyRespect I practically carried us through that stage!]] Come on!
* NotSoAboveItAll: He's usually sane, at least compared to [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Chugga]], but he still can be hammy and crack jokes about the game.
* OfficialCouple: With Lucahjin. They are married as of September 2018.
* OnlySaneByComparison: While for the most part, Jon tries to be the most sensible one of the group, he's infamous amongst his Twitch audience for actively enabling chaos, which is much more prominently seen during TRG Colosseum.
* PunchClockVillain: The role he's playing of sorts. One can actually see the switch flip in [[http://youtu.be/Sygr8P7SBUA this]] [[LetsPlay/StephenPlays StephenVlog]].
* PungeonMaster: Of the ''Rayman Legends'' Let's Play.
* RedOniBlueOni: Red to Tim, but Blue to Chugga. He's the calm and collected one during ''Mario Party'' (most of the time). Switched to red from blue when ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'' started up. Ironic, considering he plays Blue Toad. Yes, Jon not only shares this trope with another Runaway Guy, but has actually been on both ends of the trope's spectrum.
* RonTheDeathEater: In-universe during ''Kirby'', he's hit hard with this by Chugga, who thinks that ''everything'' Jon does or says is taking a shot at him. Even lampshaded in Episode 12.
* RunningGag: An occasional one is him reacting with exaggerated emotional shock when a character 'dies' in-game, especially if it's in a very cartoonish way that you would never take seriously. He does this for Wario in ''VideoGame/MarioParty 1'', Ike in ''Brawl'' and Tim in ''VideoGame/WiiParty'' ([[FireAndBrimstoneHell where the Guys react to Tim falling into a volcano as though he's died and gone to Hell]]).
* SayMyName:
** In ''Mario Party'', he does this to the game itself.
** In Subspace Emissary, he repeatedly yells "TIM!" due to Tim's frequent screw-ups.
** In ''Fortune Street''[='=]s The Observatory, he ecstatically yells his own (character's) name when [[spoiler:Tim lands on his shop and has to pay him 841 G]], complete with the trademark [[WhatTheHellIsThatAccent Mexican-ish accent]]: '''"WALUIGIIIIIII!"'''
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: His frequent "Bye guys!" moments in ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii''.
** Also occasionally jokingly does this later on, such as near the end of the first episode of ''Kirby's Return to Dream Land'':
--> '''Chugga''': (trying to wrap up the episode) This has been...
--> '''Jon''': Me flying away. (as he does just that)
* ScunthorpeProblem: During Colosseum 2021, ''VideoGame/GolfWithYourFriends'' censored his name, making it appear as [=P***nJon=], as "Roto" is a profanity in Chile.
* SesquipedalianLoquaciousness: Downplayed. He sometimes uses more complicated or specific terms and doesn't use BuffySpeak as much as the others.
* {{Sleepyhead}}: At least according to Chugga, who repeatedly claims never to have seen Jon fully awake. Subverted in their play through of Sonic Adventure during which Jon was fully awake. He apologized for it profusely.
* TheSmartGuy: He knows a lot about most of the games they play and serves as the lead MC on Thrown Controllers panels.
* StoneWall: He plays as Kyousuke in ''100% Orange Juice'', who is this by default. At least until Cast Off/True Reflections is used.
* StraightMan: Jon is one as the other two are [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} pretty out there]], Tim sometimes tries when Jon's not with not as much luck. This also means that even Jon can come with {{pun}}s and word play that slip under most listeners' radar. This seems intentional as Jon does it in some of his own streams and even where he has invited the other Runaway Guys and neither them or nof co-comentators point the puns out out.
* TakeThatAudience: Chugga has his fun sometimes, but Jon makes fun of the FanDumb among the Guys' fanbase more than anyone else.
* ThirdPersonPerson: When playing as Captain Falcon in ''Brawl''.
** Also to a lesser extent when playing as Waluigi in ''Fortune Street'' and ''Mario Party 3'' and ''Mario Party DS''.
-->''"Waluigi crank that real good! Take that, Music/SouljaBoy."''
* TokenEvilTeammate: During ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosWii''. Especially towards Chugga after the pillow incident.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Goes from somewhat annoyed with Chugga in ''Mario Party'' to outright trying to kill him (and occasionally Josh) in ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii''. Even more after Chugga accidentally gives him a black eye.
** He goes back to "normal" in ''Subspace Emissary'', though he still tries to annoy Chugga whenever possible.
* {{Troll}}:
** In episode 14 of Mario Bros., he actually starts being more annoying again because he hasn't "been trolling enough" apparently.
*** He tries very hard in the last videos to get Chugga killed enough times to have to use a continue. He even asked Josh and Tim to help. (It failed.)
*** He had the most teammate kills, and was Chugga's leading cause of death.
** Not to mention his tendency to bring [[BerserkButton up the]] [[VideoGame/{{Pikmin}} Steve]] [[MemeticMutation meme]] [[RunningGag at every available opportunity]].
*** Comes to a head when he finally plays ''VideoGame/{{Pikmin}}'', and he decides to name a single red Pikmin ''[[BilingualBonus Esteban]]''.
** In the finale of ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosU'', he kills everyone else ''at the same time'' during the first part of the Bowser fight. The cutscene prevented everyone from bubbling after he pushed the switch to collapse the floor.
** Jon tends to do this a lot during the ''Thrown Controllers'' segments as he often takes pleasure in throwing out curve ball challenges (such as being blindfolded) or impossibly difficult questions.
* WholesomeCrossdresser: For Colosseum 2021, Jon spends a couple days as his stream mascot [[RuleSixtyThree RosaJon]]. The viewers reacted favorably, Adri notes how he looked a lot better than she would, and Chugga [[AttractiveBentGender responds]] with "[[WesternAnimation/SpongebobSquarepants OH NO HE'S HOT]]!".

* BerserkButton:
** He dislikes lava.
** He quickly grows tired of people replying to his [[CharacterCatchphrase catchphrase]] "I'm LetsPlay/JoshJepson, but you knew that already" with "You're Josh Jepson?" and "Oh my god you guys, Josh Jepson's here!", as Chugga learns. [[RunningGag Several times.]]
** In the New Super Mario Bros U let's play, he quickly killed Chugga after Chugga said he thought ''Franchise/StarTrek'' was crappy.
* ButtMonkey:
** During ''Mario Wii'', he is always trying to get 1-Ups, but can never get enough thanks to bad luck, dying too much, and Jon hogging them.
** In the ''Smash Bros. Brawl'' Invitational Tournament, he is the first of the guys to lose a match and be sent to the "losers" side of the bracket (shortly followed by Tim). Then, later in his match against Chugga, he almost never landed a single hit on him, with the Shy Guy racers doing most of the damage for Josh.
** Then we have the ''64'' Tournament where he loses to Tucans, who has never played before, with Luigi.
*** He also blows a 2-0 lead against [=SuperJeenius=] and gets eliminated completely.
** After starting fairly well in ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosU'', 9 episodes in, he has almost as many deaths as everybody else put together.[[labelnote:*]]33 for Josh, 36 for everyone else combined.[[/labelnote]]
** Josh even manages to be this when he isn't even ''there'', as seen in ''VideoGame/KirbysReturnToDreamLand'' and ''VideoGame/CastleCrashers''.
* ClothesMakeTheSuperman: Lucahjin jokes in ''Mario Power Tennis'' that his socks are the reason he ever does good. This is brought up again in ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosU''.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Things go his way in Episode 11. Even after that, he's able to pull off some pretty badass stunts now and then.
* HatesBeingTouched: Implied in his introduction:
-->'''Chugga:''' I'm Chuggaaconroy with the special guest!\
'''Josh:''' Yes... don't touch me please...
* LaserGuidedKarma: Gets a 2-0 lead over LetsPlay/SuperJeenius in the ''Smash 64'' tournament and proceeds to brag about how much better he as at the game. [[spoiler: Ends up losing anyways]]
* LargeHam: Quite often.
* MeaningfulName: {{Lampshaded}}, Josh is usually short for Joshua which is an alternative way of saying UsefulNotes/{{Jesus}}, and when he dies for getting the starcoins does Chugga often say "He died for our sins!".
* NeverHeardThatOneBefore: With regards to references to ''WesternAnimation/TheJetsons''.
* OnlySaneMan: According to [[UnreliableNarrator himself]], anyway...
* PutOnABus: After being the guest player for the Guys' first two [[VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosWii Mario]] [[VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosU platformer]] [=LPs=], he was not brought back for ''New Super Luigi U''.
* RedOniBlueOni: He often switches between these -- he's typically blue, but he'll go red [[LetsGetDangerous when he really needs to.]]
* SirSwearsALot: Not much worse than the other three, but is the quickest to resort to the PrecisionFStrike.
* StrangeMindsThinkAlike: When Chugga won't make a pun, Josh will.
* TookALevelInBadass:
** In the ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'' tournament, [[ButtMonkey he loses both his matches and is the second person eliminated.]] In the ''Mario Power Tennis'' tournament, [[spoiler: he reaches third place until being beaten by [=PurpleRodri=], who was extremely good at the game]].
** In a more directly comparable example, he did far better in ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosU'' than he had in ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosWii''.
** Becomes the first guest to win a board of ''Mario Party'' on the channel. On the very first board of ''Superstars''.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Who spit in Josh's breakfast before they shot episode 9 of ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosU''?
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Lava is one of his least favorite mechanics in ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosWii''.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lucahjin]]
->[[EnsembleDarkhorse "Mah Balls!"]]

The Guys' first official female guest, and second guest in a main project overall (''[=LittleBigPlanet=]''). Like LetsPlay/JoshJepson, she eventually returned for the game's sequel. She also played as Ganondorf in ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'', Peach in ''Mario Power Tennis'', Jigglypuff in ''Super Smash Bros. 64'', Daisy in ''Fortune Street'', Koopa in ''Mario Kart: Double Dash'' (on Team [=PressBallsToContinue=] with Dodger), and was a participant in the "Super Smash Bros. Wii U" tournament. She also usually helps them with their Thrown Controller panel, usually being the one to pick the contestants.
----
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: In ''VideoGame/FortuneStreet'' Tim claims that she goes even further with ToiletHumour than him, although Lucah herself says he's just as bad.
* BeginnersLuck:
** Says she's trying to invoke this in ''Fortune Street'', which she's never played before. [[spoiler:She manages to finish in second place]].
** [[InvertedTrope Inverted]] in ''VideoGame/BurnoutRevenge'', where she [[spoiler:has an EpicFail on the first stage but does respectably well on the next two]].
* BigEater: Digs in when the other members fill in the home screen with chocolate chip cookies.
* ButtMonkey: Loses almost every time during the first round in the tournaments.
* ClothesMakeTheSuperman: She claims to be wearing Josh Jepson's socks, making her better at ''Mario Power Tennis''.
* CorruptTheCutie: Jon jokingly claims that Mal 'corrupted his wife' during Colosseum 2023...by inducting her into the 'Apple Watch exercise cult' that had already claimed his three fellow Disc Only hosts.
* CurbStompBattle: On the receiving end of two in the ''Brawl'' tournament.
* DeadpanSnarker: She has some moments, mainly when things end up loud or chaotic.
* EarlyBirdCameo:
** Bizarrely manages to make one in ''Wii Party'', albeit with a male avatar, when the computer is asked to pick a random name for the Guys' fourth AI player and picks "Luca".
** In the [[VideoGame/MarioParty Minigame Island]] videos, the Guys mention seeing a drug dealer outside their window who looks suspiciously like her.
* HehHehYouSaidX: As in her solo [=LPs=], but a particular running gag in ''[=LittleBigPlanet2=]'', where she can find an InnocentInnuendo in almost everything Chugga says.
* LargeHam: Seems to be a requirement.
* LovelyAssistant: Plays this role for the Guys in the second Thrown Controllers segment (Jon even calls her 'the lovely Lucahjin' in Game Show Host fashion).
* LadySwearsALot: During her first match of ''Brawl''.
* {{Noob}}: The Observatory playthrough is her first time ever playing ''Fortune Street'', and Jon acts as MrExposition to explain it to her. (They note that this is actually a good thing, since in the previous playthrough, the Guys launched straight into the game without much explanation of the rules, and many fans unfamiliar with the game got confused by its mechanics).
* OfficialCouple: With Jon. Eventually became HappilyMarried as of September 2018.
* OneOfTheBoys: Amusingly in contrast to previous guest Josh being treated as the girl of the team.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Most of the time, though Jon does call her by her real name (Reese) a few times in ''VideoGame/LittleBigPlanet''.
* ShipTease: With LetsPlay/NintendoCapriSun in earlier videos. Subverted, once she started dating Jon.
* TemptingFate: She predicted that her first death in ''Brawl'' would be within seconds of the start of the match.
%% * ThisIsForEmphasisBitch
* ToiletHumour: She's known for making raunchy jokes, some of which involve bathroom humor.
* TraumaCongaLine:
** In the ''Brawl'' tournament, she loses two battles in a row, both of which are curb-stomps, and to Lucas, a character she apparently hates.
** And again in the ''Smash 64'' tournament, where she uses Jigglypuff and gets absolutely destroyed in her first match, then loses to Donnabellez in the loser's bracket after stalling for a good few minutes (although they were both apparently a tad drunk at the time).
[[/folder]]

[[folder:[=SuperJeenius=]]]

Playing as the Orange Knight, he was the Guys' third main guest for their LP of VideoGame/CastleCrashers. He also played as Zelda/Sheik in ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'', Mario in ''Super Smash Bros. 64'', and Stella in two ''Fortune Street'' boards.
----
* BigNo: A humorous DoubleSubversion during ''Fortune Street'''s Delfino Plaza:
-->''(Chugga's Venture Card forces all other players to only move one space on their next turn)''
-->'''Jake:''' OH NOOOOO--Actually, that's... NOOOOOOOO!
* ButtMonkey: Seems to be something of a tradition for the Guys' guests...
* CripplingOverspecialisation: Comes back to bite him in ''Castle Crashers'' after he puts all his levelling points into strength, and ends up dying a lot in episode 5 due to low defence.
* CrossPlayer: Played as Zelda/Shiek during the ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosBrawl'' Tournament and as [[VideoGame/DragonQuestIX Stella]] in ''VideoGame/FortuneStreet''.
* DeadpanSnarker: Jon even points out that he has less of a need to say anything to Chugga with Super Jeenius around.
* FountainOfMemes: InUniverse, half his conversations are references to memes.
* GlassCannon: Puts all of his skill points in strength in ''Castle Crashers''... it doesn't [[CripplingOverspecialisation really work out.]]
* HeroKiller: [[spoiler: The only guest competitor to knock out one of the Guys in the first round (during the ''Brawl'' tournament)]].
* {{Irony}}: He was the one to suggest they do ''Castle Crashers'', but turned out to be probably the least good at the game, as pointed out in episode 5. However he does improve during the LP and ends up with the second highest level and was the only other guy aside from Jon to win multiple PVP matches even though he still died the most.
* LeeroyJenkins: In ''Castle Crashers'', he has a habit of rushing into danger and getting immediately punished for it the most.
* LargeHam: At times, especially in his second battle.
* LetsGetDangerous: He starts out his ''Brawl'' matches as Zelda and plays rather poorly. However, when he switches to Sheik, he starts kicking ass.
** Happens again in the ''Smash 64'' tournament, where LetsPlay/JoshJepson is winning by two lives but Jake pulls it out in the end.
* NoodleIncident: Parodied, regarding a bondage incident.
* OffscreenRomance: He briefly came back to the internet out of nowhere during one of Jon's streams, and he revealed that in the time he was away, he [[HappilyMarried got married]].
* OnlySaneMan: In full effect during the Delfino Plaza board in Fortune Street.
* PrecisionFStrike
* PreMortemOneLiner: Does a couple to Chugga, rather calmly.
-->'''Jake:''' Goodbye. Nice knowing you.
** Later does some to [=SyKhotic=], though since he ends up losing anyway, they're more of a PreAssKickingOneLiner.
* PutOnABus: To a degree. Since he moved to Japan, he's been unable to be in any of the tournaments after the Smash 64 one. He's also the only guest Guy listed here who hasn't participated in Colosseum. Furthermore, he hasn't uploaded a video since 2017 indicating that he's retired from making content online. He briefly came back during the second ''Sticker Star'' stream, much to the genuine surprise of both Jon and Emile. [[note]]Emile mentioned he thought Jake had passed away and had no way to fact check.[[/note]]
* TemptingFate: Gets hit with Mario's [[LimitBreak Final Smash]] after someone pointing out how no one went for the Smash Ball.
* {{Troll}}: Kind of a mixture between Chugga's style of trolling and Jon's.
* VillainousBreakdown: Though not a villain, he came off as rather upset by losing.
* WorthyOpponent: Jon sees him as this during the ''Brawl'' tournament, even though they never fight each other.

[[folder:[=MasaeAnela=]]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/masaeanela_trg_icon.png]]
->"Oh you jerk!"

[[LetsPlay/MasaeAnela She]] finally became the fourth main guest joining the guys on their LP of ''VideoGame/SuperMario3DWorld'' playing as Peach. Before that she made multiple appearances on the channel when she played Koopa in MKDD, on Team Streetpassers with LetsPlay/{{Chuggaaconroy}}, appeared as guest in ''VideoGame/BurnoutRevenge'', played Carver in ''Fortune Street: Mt. Magmageddon'', and was a participant in the ''Bomberman'' and ''Super Smash Bros. Wii U'' tournaments. She also was also with the guys during the third and fourth streams they did on Twitch and regularly assists them for their Thrown Controllers panel. She is also a guest for the Pikmin Adventure portion of ''Nintendo Land''.
----
* ActionGirl: She usually plays as hulking characters in the LP's she guest stars in.
* ApologisesALot: sometimes she'll apologise for things that aren't her fault at all. To the point Tim and Jon has to tell her that it's okay and no big harm done.
* BadassAdorable: She shows some great skill in pretty much every tournament she's been in, especially the Smash Wii U torunament.
* BirdsOfAFeather: With Chuggaaconroy, which, of course, leads to ShipTease.
* BorrowedCatchphrase: Lifts "Bye guys!" from Jon whenever she rushes ahead. Usually because the others aren't moving at the same time as her, due to her playing as Peach (who is the slowest of the original four player characters).
* BreakoutCharacter: Due to being close friends with Chugga, she's been more active in their projects than any other guest.
* ButtMonkey: If Chugga's not taking the verbal abuse in 3D World, odds are Masae is.
** Although she's not only on the recieving end, she's also on the [[SelfDeprecation giving end]].
* TheCameo: In ''100% Orange Juice'', Emile's custom damage sprite is him getting punched in the face by Masae.
* CharacterCatchphrase: "Oh you jerk!"
* CharacterDevelopment: When she first appeared on the channel she mainly interacted with Chugga who she already knew well, but over time she has also developed a rivalry with Jon (which has also appeared off the channel as they are both active Twitch streamers).
* CrossPlayer: Plays as [[VideoGame/DragonQuestVI Carver]] in ''Fortune Street'' and Bowser in the ''Super Smash Bros. Wii U'' tournament.
* DeadpanSnarker: When Emile's involved she can rival Jon in this. Like with Super Jeenius, Jon points out that he has less to say when Masae is involved.
* DemotedToExtra: After being their most regular collaborator in the 2010s, Masae’s frequency of appearances would plummet in the early 2020s when she had a falling out with Emile. Afterwards, Masae’s, presence would be limited to charity streams.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Notable for being the first guest to appear as a guest in a Runaway Gaiden, a Fortune Street Board, and a livestream before becoming a special guest for a main LP. Also appears as a Mii during their ''VideoGame/WiiParty'' LP.
* EntitledBastard: Acts this way in ''Super Mario 3D World''. When Jon was required to stand on a button to activate a Green Star, and everyone else was making things difficult for him, he required that they all needed to stand in a corner. Emile was the only one who complied and [[KarmicJackpot got the Green Star]] as a result, while Tim was attempting to be a KarmicTrickster and [[LaserGuidedKarma ended up dying]] as a result. Masae, on the other hand, attempted to throw Jon onto the button saying she listens to no one, and [[IGaveMyWord true to his word]], he throws her off a cliff. Post-stage, Masae tries to say that Jon was a dick for throwing her off, with him retaliating that he gave his word and that she was being disobedient, which Masae vehemently tries to deny [[DefiantToTheEnd to the very last minute]].
* LargeHam: She gets really loud in the Double Dash tournament and during the endgame of Mt. Magmageddon.
* LeeroyJenkins: In ''Super Mario 3D World'', despite playing as the slowest character, she'll frequently rush ahead of the group and often take power ups when others need it, accidentally cause the deaths of others, or cause the group to miss collectibles.
* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy: Claims to be manlier than Chugga, something which no one else denies.
** This dynamic can be heard well sometimes where he ScreamsLikeALittleGirl while she comes with {{Mighty Roar}}s.
---> Jon: What was THAT?!
* NaiveNewcomer: Prior to the Super Mario World Crowd Control segment of Colosseum 2022, she had never even seen a Crowd Control run, much less done one.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Downplayed; in a Runaway Guys livestream, the Guys, playing Bowser Party on ''Mario Party 10'', decide to use the Slow Block in order to land on a space that will launch them forward. Masae is the one to hit the block, but as she's used to Slow Block timings of older games, she hits the block a number too early, causing the rest of her team to chew her out. Downplayed in that the space before the one they wanted was still a regular space, so it wasn't too much of a setback.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Is never called by her real name, Shauntelle.

* PutOnABus: In January 2024, [[https://x.com/masaeanela/status/1749980627145818208?s=46&t=NRncZcPaMVNXl5a0MqPFNQ Masae released a statement that said that she would no longer participate in any events Emile was present for]], which heavily implies she won’t be returning for any future TRG Colosseum events.
* ShipTease: With Emile, [[SubvertedTrope until]] she began dating [=BrettUltimus=].
* SixthRanger: Has pretty much become this. She appeared in most of Jon's livestreams with the guys and is seen helping out at every "Thrown Controllers" Panel.
* SoreLoser: She usually doesn't take not getting the crown in 3D World well, and even worse if she actually does get the crown and loses it later.
* {{Tsundere}}: Observed and lampshaded when Chugga points out she gets angry when he calls her cute. She insists it's only Chugga, but when Jon does it ForScience, she looks pissed off for a split second before thanking him for the compliment, which they caught.
* {{Tomboy}}: Jon observes that she has better muscle definition and could easily beat Chugga in a fistfight. [[BadassAdorable She's also a blackbelt in karate.]]
** In ''Fortune Street'', she plays as Carver, whom the Guys portray with a TestosteronePoisoning persona. She almost beats the other guys with Carver.
** She also got in on the punching during the stream on Jon's channel, cheerfully asking if she could punch Emile.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:[=Stephen Georg=]]]
->[[MadBomber "BOMBS?!"]]
[[LetsPlay/StephenPlays Stephen]] is the fifth main guest, joining the guys for their LP of VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaFourSwordsAdventures as well as for ''Fortune Street''. Before this he played Baby Luigi in MKDD on Team Stephenplays with his wife Mal in MKDD and was a participant in their Smash 64 and Wii U tournaments as Ness as well as their Bomberman tournament. Stephen also was with them during their fourth Twitch stream. In ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaFourSwordsAdventures'', he played Purple Link. In ''VideoGame/KirbyAndTheAmazingMirror'', he played as Yellow Kirby.
----
* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: His portrayal of Luigi as an ExplosiveBreeder in ''Fortune Street''.
* DeadpanSnarker: Not as much as Jon and Jake, but it's definitely there.
* FailedASpotCheck: Which makes him miss many a treasure.
* FailureHero: Despite being a self-professed bomb maniac, Stephen always gets "least enemies defeated" in ''Four Swords Adventures''.
* ForgetfulJones: His notoriously poor memory is a RunningGag, and also part of the reason for his "Grandpa" nickname.
* HappilyMarried: To Mal.
* HeAlsoDid: He and Mal made the Runaway Guys' current logo, and he also made the bumper skits for Colosseum 2019 due to his filmmaking background. TRG also obtain a new editor in 2019, Dan, through his friendship with Stephen and participation in Colosseum 2019.
* '''LargeHam''': Sometimes, and when that happens he manages to out-ham Jon, whom has the same reaction as others has to his. Stephen is argurably more [[HamAndCheese cheesy]].
--> Jon: ''"Why is this so funny?!"''
* MadBomber: Subverted. He usually gets the bombs in Four Swords Adventure, and goes nuts with them to the point where the other guys actively try to stop him from doing so and/or upgrading them to be better, out of fearing what he'll do with them in the level they're playing. That said, for all the gusto Stephen puts into ''getting'' explosives, he doesn't have a good track record of actually ''using'' them, [[FailureHero as he never kills many enemies with them in contrast to the other guys]].
* NaiveNewcomer: He suggests the guys use teamwork in the first episode of Four Swords Adventures. They laugh and boo him before remarking that he has no idea what he's talking about.
* OldFriend: Has been friends with Emile since they were both teenagers.
* ShoutOut: Chugga (and later Tom) are known for referencing jokes from Stephen's channels even when Stephen isn't there:
** "I'm Waddle Dee!" in ''Kirby's Return to Dreamland''.
** "Big Friend" (Stephen's name for Hagrid from ''Harry Potter'') and Peggy (his EldritchAbomination stream mascot), both in ''Nintendo Land''.
** Tom even does one to Stephen's involvement in ''Four Swords Adventure'' during one of his ''Custom Smash'' episodes.
--->'''Tom''': Stephen, you had bombs!
* SignatureLaugh: Like on his own channels, he'll break out in a very distinct cackle whenever something hilarious happens.
* TheStrategist: In his first ''Fortune Street'' board, he shakes up the Guys' usual way of playing by organising trades early on.
* StupidSacrifice: Tries to kill off some bees that are trying to kill them by blowing himself up near the bees. Obviously it ''doesn't'' work.
* TaughtByExperience: "[[http://youtu.be/iRX-N9Tlxno I know that, because it has happened before.]]"
* ThatRemindsMeOfASong: Has a tendency to suddenly sing, not unlike Emile SuddenlyShouting, Tim making an obscure reference, or Jon [[ChewingTheScenery taking a bite of the scenery]]. This is even a donation incentive on his personal streams.
** He and Dan's song Pears and Pork gets remixed in the 2022 Colosseum TRG Makes Music segment.
* TookALevelInBadass: Stephen loses the first round of ''Smash 64''. After that, he keeps on winning and manages to make it to the finals of the loser bracket before being beaten by Pcull. Keep in mind that [[TheAce Jon]] considers Pcull a WorthyOpponent so that really says how impressive Stephen did.
* UnfitForGreatness: In ''Double Dash'' he never lets Mal drive. The reason for this becomes clear in a later video series he does with her where they play versus matches of different ''Mario Kart'' games - Stephen thought he was better than Mal at ''Double Dash''. As that video series shows, [[CurbStompBattle he was]] [[IWasBeatenByAGirl wrong]].
* VitriolicBestBuds: Doesn't show up much in commentary, but he mentioned in a comment that he often votes Emile as a "bother" at the end of stages in Four Swords Adventures because he knows him better and feels less guilty about it.
* WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer: Whenever Stephen gets any explosives, his solution to solving any problem at hand is to use said explosives. See StupidSacrifice above for a good example.
* WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway: In ''Four Swords'' he's at first associated with [[MadBomber bombs]], but later on also with the lamp.
** And, in ''VideoGame/KirbyAndTheAmazingMirror'', he prefers to use the Cupid ability.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tom Fawkes]]
[[LetsPlay/TomFawkes Tom Fawkes]] is a guest for Rayman Legends as well as for ''Fortune Street''. Before this he was a Participant in the "Super Smash Bros. Wii U" tournament. He also joined the guys for their fifth twitch stream, regularly makes fan animations from audio of the guy's videos, and temporarily joined them for their Thrown Controller panels for the 2016 [=MomoCon=] run. He has also been the guest for ''Overcooked!'' and the Pikmin Adventure portion of ''Nintendo Land''. He played as Slime and later Jessica on ''Fortune Street'' and as Daisy on ''Mario Party Superstars''.

-> '''Wins:''' ''Fortune Street'' [[note]]Bowser's Castle, Good Egg Galaxy[[/note]]
----
* TheAce: Finishes third overall in the tournament including a victory against a skilled Masae.
** Also becomes the first and currently only guest to win a board on ''Fortune Street''.
* AmicableExes: With Donnabellz.
* AscendedFanboy: He's made several fan videos before becoming a guest in the Smash Wii U tournament, though he does have his own Let's Plays and even has been part of Jon's streams.
* BackFromTheBrink: Despite having 66% damage to LetsPlay/MasaeAnela's 0%, he somehow hangs on to his last stock and wins the match.
* CantHoldHisLiquor: During ''Overcooked!'', Tom was somewhat drunk after a single drink.
* CrossPlayer:
** Primarily plays as Barbarian Princesses during the VideoGame/RaymanLegends project.
** After playing Slime for earlier games of ''VideoGame/FortuneStreet'', he swapped to Jessica in Bowser's Castle and Good Egg Galaxy.
* GagCensor: In his vlog, he censors the name of the game he's playing with the Guys with other games like Goof Troop and ''Call of Duty''.[[note]]The actual game that he censored out was Rayman Legends.[[/note]]
* IncomingHam: When he speaks up is it always hammy, ''always''.
* LargeHam: Especially as LORD DONA'TOR during the TRG Colosseum.
* MadnessMantra: "I'M TOM!" During Disc Only at Colosseum 2023.
* ManChild: He rightfully mentions that they all are.
* ManOfAThousandVoices: He has such an impressive range of voices that he could easily become a legitimate voice actor.
* TheQuietOne: Started off this way in his earlier appearances, but has since become of the Guys' most energetic guests.
* TookALevelInBadass: After becoming the first person to go bankrupt on ''Fortune Street'', Tom returns on his next appearance and manages to beat the main guys.

[[folder:Debuted in the Super Smash Bros Brawl Tournament]]

!!LetsPlay/{{Donnabellez}} (played Yoshi in SSBB, Kirby in SSB)

* AmicableExes: With Tom Fawkes.
* BigNo: A milder version when she gets beaten.
* TheBusCameBack: She returns in Colosseum Direct after taking a break from Let's Playing due to personal reasons.
* ButtMonkey: Alongside Josh, he and she are both the first losers of the entire tournament.
* CutenessProximity: She chooses Yoshi and Kirby for the two tournaments and sounds gleeful when referring to them.
* HoistByHerOwnPetard: She lost a stock after accidentally using one of her own techniques to fall into a pit on the stage.
* SouthernBelle: She kind of has that accent.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Creator/AttackingTucans in their ''Smash 64'' match.

!![=ALoyalGamer=] (played Marth in SSBB, played Mario in Mario Power Tennis)

* CaptainOblivious: Seemed to know the least about ''Brawl''.
* CurbstompBattle: Loses his tennis match against [=PurpleRodri=] quickly enough that they still had time to include it in the same video as Josh and Lucah's incredibly long match.
* TheQuietOne: The least vocal guest during the SSBB tournament.
* TheStoic: Not entirely, but definitely the closest example so far.
* TemptingFate: [[spoiler:How he ultimately loses]].
* WorthyOpponent: To Jon.

!!LetsPlay/{{Diabetus}} (played Mario in SSBB and again in Mario Kart DD on Team LetsPlay/{{Retsupurae}} with LetsPlay/SlowBeef)

* TheAce: Somewhat; [[spoiler:he made it to the semi-finals through the loser's bracket and was [[HeroKiller responsible for the elimination of two main Guys]], so he definitely has enough skill to be classified as this.]]
* BerserkButton: He freaks out when he finds out the guys had a Battletoads event during Thrown Controllers and wasn't told.
* CrystalDragonJesus: Chugga regards him as "The Jesus of Let's Playing" (as LetsPlay/{{Slowbeef}} is the God of Let's Playing).
* DeadpanSnarker: Given [[WebVideo/{{Retsupurae}} what he's made himself known for]], it's not a surprise.
* {{Foreshadowing}} / LyingCreator: The Guys mentioned at one point that they'd meet up with him, and later it was confirmed he would not be their guest player. And here he is now. Not lying ''per se'', but it was tricky.
* FunnyBackgroundEvent: He keeps getting invested in one of these (the [[VideoGame/IceClimber polar bear]] on the Ice Climbers' stage).
* HandicappedBadass: Does well in the tournament, despite being sleepy.
* HeroKiller: [[spoiler: Defeats Chuggaaconroy for good in sudden death, even after Chugga was buying himself time to kill him there first, and previously Diabetus had knocked Tim out of the Tournament. He's responsible for two out of three Runaway Guys losing the tournament]].
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Loses a life ([[spoiler:and his first match]]) by trying to grab a Bob-Omb.
* IncrediblyLamePun: Cracked a few during his second match.
* TheLancer: To LetsPlay/SlowBeef. As shown during the MKDD tournament.
* PyrrhicVictory: Realizes that the cost of winning another match means he'd have to stay awake late at night for even longer.
* TheQuietOne: Not as much as [=ALoyalGamer=], but more than other guest fighters, he likes to be quiet and focus on playing. He eventually makes some jokes and puns starting with his second match. In the MKDD tournament, he is by far the quietest person in his race as [[LargeHam Slowbeef]] spends most of their turn yelling.
* RunningGag: Mentioning that he's sleepy and that he's playing while asleep.

!![[LetsPlay SxKArmedageddon SyKhotic]] (played Lucas in SSBB)

* TheAce: Aside from Jon, he is the only competitor to have never lost a match. At least until he fought Jon. Twice.
* CurbStompBattle: On the giving end, to [[spoiler:Lucahjin]]. Of course, there is a lampshade hung. And later, [[spoiler:on the receiving end from Jon. Twice.]]
* FlatWhat: See MindScrew below.
* IHaveManyNames: He calls himself several different names during the match.
* MindScrew: In-universe; considers [=SuperJeenius's=] dodging of the lava wall in Norfair to be this, if his flabbergasted reaction is anything to go by.
--> '''[=SyKhotic=]''': [[FlatWhat What.]]
--> '''[=SuperJeenius=]''': [[PreAssKickingOneLiner Problem?]]
* TheQuietOne: Doesn't say much in his first or third battle, but opened up more in the second.
* RunningGag: Introducing himself by several different names (all of which actually apply to him) at the start of his battles.

* AscendedFanboy: He went from uploading clips of the Guys' videos, to participating in one of them, though he did already have his own Let's Plays.
* HeroKiller: Defeats NCS in the first round of Mario Power Tennis.

!![=PurpleRodri=] (Played Daisy in Mario Power Tennis, Kirby in SSB, Koopa in MKDD, on Team Purple Pwniez with [=SullyPwnz=])

* TheAce:
** Reaches second place and comes exceptionally close to beating Chugga, who won his previous matches via CurbStompBattle.
** Later, during the ''Smash 64'' tournament, [[spoiler: He manages to reach the Winners Semifinals, though it may or may not count since several of his wins had him relying on in-game items.]]
** And in the ''Mario Kart Double Dash'' tournament, [[spoiler: He makes it to the semi-finals losing to the Koopa Krew.]]
* CrossPlayer: Played as Daisy in the tennis tournament.
* CurbStompBattle: Delivers one unto [=ALoyalGamer=] in their tennis match.
* HeroKiller: Was responsible for LetsPlay/NintendoCapriSun's defeat in the Winner's Bracket of the ''Smash 64'' tournament. And his team defeat's Chugga's team in Mario Kart: Double Dash.
* PersonAsVerb: Chugga and Josh say, "Ready to Rodri."

!![[WebVideo/IsItAGoodIdeaToMicrowaveThis Jon Paula]] (Played Mario in Mario Power Tennis)

* DeadpanSnarker: Quite a bit in his match. For example, after someone points out how [[LetsPlay/ProtonJon Jon]] is Luigi and Jon (himself) is Mario:
--> '''JP''': Yeah, that makes sense.
* FunnyBackgroundEvent: Himself. All of the tennis players are in the same room, and he shouts during matches he's not involved with frequently, as opposed to most everyone else being silent.
* HandicappedBadass: Finishes second in the Bomberman: Live Tournament losing only to Jon, despite never having played the game before.

* AlwaysABiggerFish: Even a bigger ManChild than Chugga, who comes off as staid and restrained compared to him.
* BeginnersLuck: Possibly. He does rather well in ''Smash 64'' for someone who's never played the game before (although he has played the others in the series).
* CampGay
* FakeBoobs: Tyler stuffs his shirt during Werewolf to play Lucah during Colosseum 2023.
* HandicappedBadass: In ''Smash 64'', he claims to have never played the game before. In his match against Josh, [[spoiler:he wins without losing a single life.]]
* LargeHam: Especially in the first round of the ''Smash 64'' tournament.
* NakedPeopleAreFunny: His introduction during the 2019 Colosseum has him half-naked.
* NoIndoorVoice: He can take it all the way up into the red. A decibel tester during a Colosseum reveals he's even louder than Chugga.
* SirSwearsALot: As Chugga put it: "In case you haven't guessed, Tyler is very vulgar."
* StrangeMindsThinkAlike: When asked to name a Psychic-type Pokemon in Colosseum 2021's Family Feud segment, both he and Jules respond with [[EpicFail Gengar.]]
* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks: How he wins against Josh.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Donnabellez during their match. Jon is shocked by how they treat each other. Anybody who's seen Super Mario Galaxy Versus is not.

!! LetsPlay/WiiRikeToPray (Tyler, Tyson, Spencer and Chris) (Tyler and Tyson played Pikachu, Spencer played Captain Falcon, and Chris played Fox in SSB)

* TheAce: The group of four are considered the most likely to win as they play Super Smash Bros. a lot.
** Tyler went undefeated during all the tournament, he was the responsible of knocking out two of the three main Guys, and additionally, he won the ''Smash 64'' Tournament. A first in TRG, where someone else other than the main Guys ended victorious in a tournament.
* ButtMonkey: Chris and Spencer are both eliminated without a single win.
* ChildhoodFriends: According to Tyson did they first meet during 2nd or 3rd grade.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Tyson and Chris return in the Bomberman Live tournament, but Tyler and Spencer do not.
* HandicappedBadass: Tyler is colorblind.
* HeroKiller:
** Tyler defeats Chugga, then Jon in both the Winners Bracket finals and in the Finals rematch.
** Tyson defeats Chugga in the elimination round.
* HonorBeforeReason: During his match with Jon, Tyler manages to get the Hammer which would have given him a clear advantage, but intentionally waits until the powerup times out so he can fight Jon fair and square. [[spoiler: He wins anyway.]]
* StrangeMindsThinkAlike[=/=]SharedFamilyQuirks: Tyler and Tyson both use Pikachu. The two also share a cousin so they're related in some way.

* HandicappedBadass: During the recording, he was suffering from mononucleosis. [[spoiler:But he still finishes third.]]
* {{Troll}}: Part of his commentary style. 917! Tropes pertaining The Runaway Guys Colosseum Guests/Characters:

[[folder:Adriana Figueroa]]
Known as "Adrisaurus" on [=YouTube=], Adriana is a singer who appears on TRG Colosseum as a musical guest. She and Jules also act as prize givers for Thrown Controllers, and have appeared as the opening act for ''Thrown Controllers Live!''.
----
* AmicableExes: With Jules, after their breakup.
* AnimalLover: She's genuinely fond of animals, to the point where she even owns a little pet snail. She also once had [[https://twitter.com/AdrianaFigueroa/status/1145541670886244354/photo/1 a yoga session with a baby goat]].
* AudienceParticipation: When she performs "[[VideoGame/RhythmHeaven Fangirl]]" for Colosseum and Thrown Controllers Live, she gets the audience and her fellow guests to chant "Wonderful, hey!" and "Yeah yeah yeah yeah!" when prompted.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: For as sugary sweet as Adriana is, she does ''not'' [[BerserkButton take betrayal well]]. When being killed by Masae in ''VideoGame/AmongUs'', who she trusted up until that point, she dropped everything she was doing, went into Masae's Twitch chat, and made a caps-locked rant at her. When Masae [[ImplausibleDeniability denied having done anything wrong]], all Adriana could do was scream at the top of her lungs.
* BunniesForCuteness: In Colosseum 2019, she wears a little bunny hat that can flop its ears whenever she tugs its paws.
* TheCutie: She's known for her sweet nature and quirky personality. It's really saying something when even Masae finds her adorable.
* HeroesLoveDogs: She loves Dachshunds, as seen on her Twitter and Instagram accounts. She later adopted a Pomeranian named Marnie, who features in a 2022 Colosseum bumper.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: She's best friends with [=MasaeAnela=]. Whenever there's a team or partner-based game involved, they're usually paired together.
* LetsDuet: During her concert, she sings "[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword Ballad of the Goddess]]" with Masae and "[[VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate Lifelight]]" with Chugga thanks to some donation incentives.
* PrecisionFStrike: She usually doesn't swear during Colosseum, but when she hears Emile cuss at the end of Jon's Fortune Cookie stream, she jumps on the wagon with a little ''"Bitch!"'' Both Masae and Emile find it more adorable than jarring.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: The Energetic Girl to Jules' Savvy Guy. In contrast to how brooding and inquisitive Jules is, Adriana is perky and always full of energy.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The Girly Girl to Masae's Tomboy. This is parodied in [[https://youtu.be/g_nxwW77nL0?t=81 a bumper]] where she gleefully gives Masae a warm hug, and clings onto her leg until the latter sternly tells her to get off.
** Masae {{lampshade|hanging}}s this in [[https://mobile.twitter.com/MasaeAnela/status/1141102671950012419 this Tweet]] showing off her and Adriana's fashion sense in ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossingPocketCamp''. Adriana is dressed as an angel princess with a duck bill, while Masae is dressed almost identically to Alucard from ''Manga/{{Hellsing}}''.
* UndesirablePrize: For the ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossingNewHorizons'' segment in Colosseum Direct, she holds a contest to see which player gets the most votes to win her coveted prize: a '''golden toilet'''.
* WinsByDoingAbsolutelyNothing: Wins the second round of TabletopGame/Werewolf1997 in the 2019 TRG Colosseum due to being assigned the [[DeathSeeker Tanner]] card and being selected as the first one to die.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:[=FamilyJules=]]]
Jules Conroy is an electric guitarist who covers video game songs on [=YouTube=]. He appears on TRG Colosseum as both a musical guest and the host of the "Werewolf" segment. As mentioned above, he usually gives out prizes during Thrown Controllers alongside Adriana.
----

* AmicableExes: With Adriana, after their breakup.
* BizarreTasteInFood: A running gag in Colosseum bumpers. In 2020, he has a bowl of Cheez-Its with milk and ketchup, and in 2022, he drinks a mix of ketchup, garlic salt, oil, and protein powder.
* {{Determinator}}: Despite all the donor-prompted resets against him, he still attempts to finish the ''VideoGame/SuperMario64'' race against Masae.
* EyeScream: His bit in the Colosseum 2019 intro has him spraying his hair in the bathroom. During one of the takes, he accidentally sprays himself ''in the eyes'', and Stephen found it so hilarious that he used it for the final cut. Defied in a 2023 CallBack bumper, where he puts on a pair of goggles prior to applying his hairspray.
* HeroesLoveDogs: He loves Pomeranians; he was a co-owner of Adri's Pom Marnie until their breakup, and adopts his own Pomeranian, Yuna, in 2023.
* IconicItem: His Necklace. He never takes it off.
* MythologyGag: One of his bumpers in Colosseum Direct focuses on him changing his doorbell chime, continuing the RunningGag from his own channel. This time, however, he [[spoiler:rigs it as a bomb and accidentally blows himself up]].
* PerpetualFrowner: Played for laughs during the second TRG Colosseum. One of the stretch goals was specifically to get him to smile.
* PhraseCatcher: "Damn, that's crazy."
** His stream chat commenters like to post the madlib "Random: Cadence of Hyrule Guitarist [is / does thing]", inspired by a strange Nintendo Life headline reporting on Jules' opposition to time travelling in ''Animal Crossing''.
* PrettyBoy: He seems pretty attractive.
* RoommateDrama: Parodied in a bumper with him and Jack. Apparently, Jack's tendency to "open up this pit" makes him a little difficult to live with.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: The Savvy Guy to Adriana's Energetic Girl. Adriana is always lively no matter what the situation, whereas Jules always takes a more reserved and pessimistic output.
* SelfImposedChallenge: During a race against Masae, he chooses to do a 70-star run against Masae's 16-star run.
* SirSwearsALot: He's one of the more vulgar members of TRG, and can have trouble reining himself during Colosseum events.
* SitcomArchNemesis: PlayedForLaughs. He's sometimes portrayed as one for Josh Jepson due to the latter unintentionally screwing him up during the first ''Super Mario 64'' race. This escalates to a new level when a Direct bumper reveals that [[spoiler:Josh was the one responsible for locking Jules out of the Star Door back in Colosseum 2019]].
* SpikyHair: His most notable feature. In the sitcom intro for Colosseum 2019, he's shown tending to it with hairspray.
* StrangeMindsThinkAlike: When asked to name a Psychic-type Pokemon in Colosseum 2021's Family Feud segment, both he and Tyler respond with [[EpicFail Gengar.]]
* StringTheory: In a Colosseum Direct skit, Jules uses a string board to conclude that the Star Door incident from the year prior was entirely [[spoiler:Josh]]'s doing, not Jack's.
* SuddenlyShouting: Mathanthor, his character for Stephen's TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons session in the first Colosseum, has the donor-requested trait of ''shouting'' a person's name rather than saying it.
-->'''"Mathanthor":''' My name's... '''MATHANTHOR!'''
* {{Swirlie}}: On the receiving end of one from [=ToxicXEternity=] due to a donation goal, PlayedForLaughs.
* {{Troll}}:
** His Mario 64 race allows him to reset the other player's console if enough donations are made and vice versa.
** For Jerod's concert in 2019, Jules secretly put his video, "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_31mVNBIRhs WARIO LAUGHING (METAL)]]", onn the song list. Not only did this surprise everyone in the room, but Jerod immediately knew that Jules was responsible for it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:[=ToxicxEternity=]]]
[=ToxicxEternity=] (real name Jack Fliegler) is a guitarist who frequently does heavy metal covers of video game songs on his [=YouTube=] channel. He made his TRG debut in Colosseum 2018, and had appeared in every Colosseum since to perform alongside his fellow musical guests.
----
* BlackComedy: His story in Stephen's "Baron Munchausen" segment has him playing a character who picked poisonous flowers before a rock concert and accidentally killed the entire crowd. At the end, he declares that fateful evening as "the night that death metal was invented".
* CandlelitRitual: Parodied in his credit shot for the 2019 sitcom intro. He's shown kneeling before a pentagram surrounded by amiibo and fog (really vapor) before he looks up at the camera and shrugs innocently.
* CharacterCatchphrase:
** "Hell Yeah Dude!"
** "Let's open up this pit!"
* HeavyMetal: His music style of choice, contrasting Jules' PunkRock style.
* MellowFellow: Definitely one of the most chill guests on the channel, often speaking in a very cool and relaxed tone. He's a lot more energetic whenever he performs, of course.
* {{Metalhead}}: Certainly looks the part, complementing his style of music.
* RoommateDrama: Parodied in a bumper with him and Jules. Apparently, Jack's tendency to "open up this pit" makes him a little difficult to live with.
* {{Swirlie}}: Gave one to Jules after a donation goal was met on Jules's segment for day 3. PlayedForLaughs.

'''[[caption-width-right:350:"FOOOOOLS!!!"]]'''
Making his debut at the first The Runaway Guys Colosseum event in May 2018, the dreaded LORD DONA'TOR is a hooded fiend who "was first conceived after Tom Fawkes put on a bathrobe". His twisted goal is to kidnap the Lamp.
----
* ArcWelding: LORD DONA'TOR initially had nothing to do with The Lamp, but the 'storylines' ended up crossing over.
* AscendedFanboy: Of Thrown Controllers, apparently.
* TheBadGuyWins: LORD DONA'TOR takes the lamp again near the end of the second Colosseum, having won it fair and square in Thrown Controllers.
** Apparently undone by the time of the Colosseum Direct, where Stephen and Mal have the lamp now. When asked about it, LORD DONA'TOR explains that he left it at Myrtle Beach.
* BigEater: Implied when LORD DONA'TOR orders huge amount of food when LetsPlay/StephenPlays takes him to a fast food chain, in a skit from The Runaway Guys Colosseum 2019. He gets called out by Stephen for it, then orders something smaller and more reasonable.
* BoldInflation: LORD DONA'TOR.
* ButHeSoundsHandsome: Inverted. When LORD DONA'TOR leaves and Tom re-enters, he'll occasionally make a comment like "Did you see that weird guy?".
* CargoShip: InUniverse. During TheStinger of Colosseum 2019, LORD DONA'TOR is shown in bed with the Lamp, which he won fair and square in Thrown Controllers, and he fondles it before turning out the lights. Then, in Colosseum 2022, a bumper is shown of LORD DONA'TOR going through his mundane daily life, clearly not happy, but when he returns to his apartment flat and sees the glow of the Lamp, his face [[{{Pun}} lights up]] in happiness.
* ClassicVillain: LORD DONA'TOR has the trappings of one, though he rarely does much in the way of villainy [[spoiler:beyond being the real one behind the theft of The Lamp]].
** Sometime after the marathon, separate from TRG, LORD DONA'TOR threatened to steal ''the sun'' if [[DisproportionateRetribution people did not donate to have "DONA'TOR" be the file name for the]] [[WebVideo/GamesDoneQuick SGDQ]] ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword'' run. It barely didn't make it, but before LORD DONA'TOR could go through with it, he was informed [[MakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext by his future self]] that the sun was far too big and far too far away to steal.
* CostumeEvolution: The first DONA'TOR costume was merely a bathrobe that Tom happened to bring with him for the trip. In Colosseum 2019, he swaps it for a maroon monk robe.
* DemotedToExtra: In Colosseum Direct, LORD DONA'TOR's presence was largely relegated to his HostileShowTakeover and a two second bumper of him laughing evilly.
** Arguably taken another step further in 2022. While he appears in a bumper or two, LORD DONA'TOR appears in only one segment (despite the event being in person) with no storyline unlike in previous in-person events.
* DoesNotLikeSpam: LORD DONA'TOR has a strong distaste for pickles, as is shown by one of the skits in The Runaway Guys Colosseum 2019 when Stephen takes him to a fast food restaurant.
* EvilVirtues: Generosity, to an unhealthy degree. LORD DONA'TOR has given away all of his money to charity, leading to all his lamps being repossessed before Colosseum 2021.
* ExoticDetective: When the Guys and their friends make it a donation goal to hire a [[HardboiledDetective P. I.]] to find the missing lamp, it turns out that LORD DONA'TOR is also a P.I...
* ForWantOfANail: Like The Lamp, he became big in the chat for small reasons LORD DONA'TOR happened because Tom came downstairs wearing a bathrobe that had a hood and was reading donations, and when a chat user complimented the robe, he pulled the hood up and took on a dramatic voice. The name came a bit later.
* FriendOfMaskedSelf: Played with. When Tom is in the room and needs to pass on a message from LORD DONA'TOR, he claims the latter has texted him. Apparently one-sided, as Tom at one point replies telling LORD DONA'TOR to stop messaging him and wondering how he got his number.
* GoKartingWithBowser: LORD DONA'TOR participates in Thrown Controllers after viewers donate to have him play. In a bizarre twist of fate, [[spoiler:he ends up [[TeamRocketWins winning]]]].
* HiddenEyes: The hood on his robe always conceals his eyes to give him an ominous appearance. And to hide the fact that he's To- er, to hide his true identity.
* HostileShowTakeover: He briefly hijacks Colosseum Direct and twists it into his own stream, "LORD DONA'TOR Direct". He finally buzzes off when [[spoiler:Emile]], of all people, successfully manages to annoy him off the stream.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: DONA'TOR tried to use The Lamp as a weapon against Tim Skywalker's lightsaber. He lost.
* IncomingHam: '''FOOLS!''' IT IS I, '''LORD DONA'TOR!'''
* InTheHood: DONA'TOR's outfit is mostly comprised of a maroon hooded bathrobe.
* LargeHam: Even outside of [[IncomingHam his arrivals]], LORD DONA'TOR is ridiculously hammy. When he demands one hundred donations of thirty-three dollars each to return the lamp...
--> '''Jon''': That's a weirdly specific amount!
--> '''LORD DONA'TOR''': ''(wheels on Jon)'' '''''SILENCE!'''''
--> '''Josh''': ''(both laughing and surprised'' Oh god!
* {{Leitmotif}}: Bowser's theme from the first ''VideoGame/MarioParty'' plays when DONA'TOR is onscreen during the second Colosseum.
* PaperThinDisguise: Tom as LORD DONA'TOR, though the chat jokingly predicts anyone other than him might be LORD DONA'TOR's identity.
* PuffOfLogic: LORD DONA'TOR's biggest weakness is existential dread. If he questions his existence or stops believing in himself, he'll temporarily phase out of reality.
* RefugeInAudacity: DONA'TOR's plan in the second Colosseum to steal the lamp is to literally waltz in, unplug and take the lamp, and demand $100,000 dollars for it. ''It works.''
* ResetButton: Nobody seems to remember LORD DONA'TOR getting unmasked at the end of Colosseum 2018.
* TheReveal: After the stream hits $100,000 donations, LORD DONA'TOR is unmasked as... [[TheUntwist Tom Fawkes]]!
* ShoutOut: When ordering at the drive-thru with Stephen, DONA'TOR repeats Big Smoke's enormous Cluckin' Bell order from ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoSanAndreas''. Stephen stops him halfway to tell him that he "can't conceivably eat that much food".
* SplitPersonality: One bumper in Colo 2019 heavily implies that DONA'TOR is indeed a separate personality within Tom.
* ThrowItIn:
** InUniverse, after the chat became fascinated with The Lamp on the first day, the Guys and their friends planned a storyline for it going missing for days two and three; however, Tom's spur-of-the-moment creation of LORD DONA'TOR (based purely because he had come down while wearing his robe) meant that that storyline rapidly went off the rails.
** After a commenter mistakenly calls him LORD DOMINATOR, LORD DONA'TOR says that that's his cousin, who's 'into some weird stuff'.
* UnexplainedRecovery: Was defeated by Tim Skywalker upon the 100k goal in the second Colosseum on Day 3... Later, he appears to play Thrown Controllers ''that same day''. The explanation was that "he got better".
* WalkingShirtlessScene: Downplayed. LORD DONA'TOR wears a robe that covers his torso, but he's shirtless underneath, which is sometimes visible.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: DONA'TOR thinks the extra donations gotten for his ransom of the lamp justified him stealing it.
* YouFool: LORD DONA'TOR's [[CharacterCatchphrase catchphrase]]. "'''FOOLS!'''" Even when he's not shouting and in casual conversation, he will tend to refer to the person he's talking to as "Fool."
* YourMindMakesItReal:
** According to a bumper from Colosseum 2019, LORD DONA'TOR appears to be a figment of Tom's imagination who anybody can see, so long as he and Tom aren't in the same room together. Tom is seen having a SeinfeldianConversation with LORD DONA'TOR, but as soon as Josh walks in, LORD DONA'TOR disappears into thin air.
** Revisited during Colosseum 2022, where Tom shrugs off LORD DONA'TOR's existence as a figment of his imagination, causing LORD DONA'TOR to vanish in a PuffOfLogic after being dumbfounded at Tom's claim.

[[folder:The Lamp]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lamp.png]]
Alongside LORD DONA'TOR, The Lamp also made it's debut in the first Colosseum event, stealing the show alongside LORD DONA'TOR despite being a seemingly ordinary lamp. It hides a sinister secret.
----
* AmbiguouslyEvil: Stephen likes to portray the Lamp this way. Its scene in the 2019 sitcom intro shows it eerily sitting in a pitch black room (''heavily'' contrasting the intro's cheery tone), while its bumpers in Colosseum 2020-2021 portray it as an outright horror figure.
* ArcWelding: LORD DONA'TOR initially had nothing to do with The Lamp, but the 'storylines' ended up crossing over.
* AscendedExtra: The Lamp, which was literally just a lamp in the background of the first day of the charity stream which the chat became fascinated with.
* TheCatCameBack: A 2021 bumper has Stephen getting rid of the lamp due to it being evil. Despite putting it in a box, adding tape, and adding a chain, it still appears awaiting him as he returns home.
* CompanionCube: The chat instantly grew fond of The Lamp, treating it as if it was it's own character.
* DarkerAndEdgier: The two bumpers starring the Lamp, simple titled "The Lamp" and "The Lamp II" respectively, are the only Colosseum sketches that are played purely for horror rather than comedy (and given their length, they're actually more akin to short films than sketches). There's no dialogue or funny gags, the Lamp itself is portrayed as a [[spoiler:sentient phantom that can't be truly defeated]], and the sequel even ends on a [[DownerEnding grim and unsettling note]]. Suffice to say, the "Lamp duology" is definitely the darkest of all the bumpers.
* DemotedToExtra: The Lamp only made sporadic appearances in Colosseum Direct, since it was left in Stephen and Mal's possession and they rarely appeared onscreen throughout the event. It was the main focus of Stephen's bumper, but starting in 2022, its appearances became even less story-driven, and it was mostly relegated to background decoration.
* ForWantOfANail: Like LORD DONA'TOR, The Lamp made it big in the chat due to small reasons. The Lamp was just sitting there, off, when one person donated money during the ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaALinkToThePast'' randomizer race to turn it on for no apparent reason. The guys then jokingly decided it would cost a hundred dollars to turn the lamp on or off... and the chat delivered.
* OminousVisualGlitch: During the Introduction of Colosseum 2, the video glitches out when showing The Lamp.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Or in this case, red ''lights''. Stephen's bumper in Colosseum Direct has him unplugging the Lamp after it repeatedly turns itself on. This proves to be unsuccessful as the Lamp still manages to turn on, except now the color of its light is a dark bloody red. Apparently, '''it didn't appreciate that at all...'''

[[folder:[=The8BitDrummer=]]]
Jerod "8-Bit" Collins is a Twitch streamer who specializes in performing live, high-energy drum covers of miscellaneous video game songs (and the [[BlatantLies occasional]] meme song). He first debuted in Colosseum 2019 after being invited on by Jack and Jules.
----
* TheAce: When it comes to Stepmania, as shown in Colosseum Direct. He can pull off some of the game's hardest songs (over 200 BPM), sometimes without even looking at the screen!
* AscendedFanboy:
** Has discussed how he was a fan of many of the other TRG crew before he became a prominent streamer himself.
** Got the chance to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tflCrzplM5Q&ab_channel=The8BitDrummer co-stream]] alongside "Protonathon Jonathon" as the pair revisited the infamous "Kaizo Mario", with Jon reliving all the pain from over a decade ago as Jerod hit the same pitfalls he did. This included the ''meme-time'' that was "Special Stage 2"...
* CharacterCatchphrase:
** One specific to the 'Enter / Exit the Gungeon' segment in Colosseum Direct is a pre-emptive snapped "THAT WAS NOT A COMPLAINT!" immediately after saying something negative - due to chat donating for Erika to spray him with water every time he complains about something in-game.
** He is also heavily associated with Wario screaming, having it as a Bit Cheer alert and later a Sub Bomb alert.
* ContrivedCoincidence:
** Both he and Jon introduced Goldman memes / alerts (from ''House of the Dead 2'') in their streams ''days apart'' from one another. Some of them even involve the same scene!
** He also shares the same birthday as his wife ''and'' one of his moderators.
** His wife, Erika, was planned to be named "Jared" if she was male, which, while not exact, is very similar to Jerod's name. Jerod was going to be named "Erika" if he was female. Perhaps them getting together was fate.
* FailedASpotCheck: His viewers tend to make good-natured jokes about this trope when Jerod misses something obvious.
* FlatWhat: His inital reaction to the Game Boy Player Disc Only.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Has a big collection of plushies that accompany him on streams, as well as a menagerie of pets at home, including a cat, a dog and formerly a snake. He also gets frequent visits from wildlife on his casts, usually lizards and spiders.
* FunPersonified:
** His friends won't deny that he has naturally good energy that never turns off. It's hard to find a video where the guy ''isn't'' smiling or laughing.
** This extends to his charity work, where he never fails to meet a charity goal or challenge, giving back to his community and even to random people. Towards the end of one stream as he was wrapping up he was called by Erika for the purpose of ordering Domino's Pizza; he then [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXSc7oRcE4M&ab_channel=The8BitDrummer proceeded]] to order pizza ''on cast'', while his chat paid ''per slice'' with cheers and subs. To top off the 30 minute overtime session, he gave '''$300''' as a tip to the delivery driver, which after ordering for himself, his wife, and ''one of his subscribers'' ended up being over 350% of the total order cost!
* GoshDarnItToHeck:
** He tries to never say any profanity, even on the Twitch streams of people who do swear. This is parodied in a bumper where he explains "alternative swearing", in which any word can sound like a swear with the right inflection.
-->'''Jerod:''' Oh '''EGGS'''!
** 8 Bit engages in what can best be described as "G-Rated Swearing", befitting his family friendly persona, the curses he uses tend to be "Frick", "God dang", and "Crap".
* HappilyMarried: With his wife and fellow Twitch streamer, Erika, who accompanies him for Colosseum Direct. This trope definitely applies, since he used to keep a list of qualities he wanted in a future wife when he was young, and Erika checks ''every single one''.
* HiddenDepths: Not many drummers would have a vast interest in dreams and lucid dreaming, which he has brought up on the Podcast/DiscOnlyPodcast on occasion.
* {{Keet}}: Hyperactive, full of energy, and brightens up any room.
* LargeHam: He has an infectious amount of energy whenever he performs, a necessity for any rock drummer.
* NaiveNewcomer: Sometimes played with, like him initially being unaware of the background to the 'Game Boy Player Disc Only' shenanigans and assuming there was a secret game on the disc.
* ThePollyanna: As Jon put it in a stream when someone did an egg video referencing a Jerod meme:
--> '''Jon:''' Somewhere, Jerod is happy...though that implies he can feel any other emotion.
* RapidFireTyping:
** Downplayed in that we're not talking a full keyboard, but rather the four arrow keys. He's ''incredibly'' good at the game ''VideoGame/StepMania'', and makes short work of some brutally fast songs throughout his playthrough.
** Same goes for ''VideoGame/FridayNightFunkin'', arguably the spiritual successor to Stepmania.
* RealMenLoveJesus: Is a self-proclaimed Christian Drummer, having started his channel drumming in a church.
* SignatureLaugh: Gather a crowd of a thousand people, have them all laugh and you'd be able to hear Jerod a mile away. His [[https://youtu.be/nzaXAFR_h0o?t=931 reaction to Jules' accidental Eye Scream]] is a prime example.
* SignatureSong: Is particularly associated with ''Megalovania'' from ''Undertale'' due to how often versions of it are requested in his streams. He currently has 34 covers of different versions on Youtube.
* TheSixthRanger:
** Openly considers himself to be one of the newest members of the TRG crew. To quote [=MasaeAnela=], he "fits in like a glove".
** Jon asked him to be one of three colleagues to be part of his Chaos Fortune Cookie stream for Colosseum Direct (the others being Tom Fawkes and Stephen Georg) because he felt they had good comedy synergy, which ultimately led to the four of them starting the Disc Only podcast.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Chatia]]
Erika, Jerod's wife, and a streamer in her own right. Begins appearing in Colosseum after it goes virtual in 2020, and finally appears in-person in Colosseum 2023.
----
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: Often serves as this for Jerod during their segments together. Her title on the TRG website is even "The Voice of Reason."
* HappilyMarried: To Jerod. It's how she became associated with TRG.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Despite being dubbed "The Voice of Reason", she has a mischievous streak. One instance in a Colosseum 2023 bumper has her prepare a cup of coffee for her husband and adding random condiments to it.
* ToiletHumor: Colosseum 2023 reveals her favorite Splatoon weapon is the Bloblobber, which she affectionately calls "the toilet."
* YouSayTomato: Her pronunciation of Mario as "Mare-io" is highly contentious.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:[=insaneintherain=]]]
Known on [=YouTube=] for his multi-instrumental music covers, Carlos Eiene first appeared in Colosseum 2019 as a musical guest. He's known for specializing in ''multiple'' instruments, most notably the saxophone and piano.
----
* {{alllowercaseletters}}: In case you hadn't already noticed, his [=YouTube=] name is strictly in lowercase with no space inbetween the words.
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: Both he and Sab Irene are the youngest members of the group, who are both currently college graduate students. This is PlayedForLaughs in Colo 2019 whenever his friends use the phrase, [[RunningGag "Did you know that ten years ago, Carlos was ten years old?"]]
* ComputerVoice: Well not exactly, but he owns a [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk_box talk box]] and uses it to ''mimic'' the sound of a computerized voice. This allows him to perfectly imitate [[VideoGame/AnimalCrossing K.K. Slider's]] voice when he performs K.K. Cruisin'... '''live'''.
* RenaissanceMan: Of the musical variety; he can play the saxophone, piano, drums, bass, and a slew of other instruments. On top of that, he's also a skilled conductor and composer. And a speedrunner of VideoGame/WiiMusic.
* RunningGag: The aforementioned "ten years old" joke. He also likes to poke fun at [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5tI66b6wB8 the Lick]], to the point where he made a $25 incentive just to force him to incorporate the Lick into whatever song he was currently playing.
** There's also a running trend of Carlos getting new alter egos/celebrity parodies, such as Carlos G, an AffectionateParody of Kenny G, and insaneintheharvey, one of Creator/SteveHarvey.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Sab Irene]]
A good friend of Carlos, Sab is a multi-instrumentalist and singer who first appeared alongside the former in Colosseum 2019. Outside of TRG, she frequently collaborates with Carlos, Adriana, and Jules.
----
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: As mentioned above, she and Carlos are much younger then their fellow collaborators, who mostly range from their late twenties to early forties.
* BilingualBonus: She speaks Japanese, a skill highlighted in several TRG bumpers, including one where she teaches some "simple phrases" like [[RunningGag "Did someone play the Lick?"]]
* IconicOutfit: Her Piplup onesie. It's been used as a donation incentive and also has appeared in bumpers.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: She only goes by Sab across all platforms. Chugga got confused by this and once addressed a parcel to her username, assuming it was her real name.
* RenaissanceWoman: Also of the musical variety. Her resume includes flute, trumpet, saxophone, and piano, not to mention she's also a singer, composer, and as of recently, a Pokemon speedrunner.
* SignatureSong: Best known for her collaboration with Adri, Carlos and Jules on "Polyanna" from ''Mother'', although she's also associated with ''Chrono Trigger''.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Marriland]]
Creator of the ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'' fansite [[https://marriland.com/ marriland.com]], [[LetsPlay/{{Marriland}} Devin]] is usually in charge of the Pokémon-related segments for Colosseum. He's appeared in every charity stream since 2018, but is PutOnABus starting in 2021's Colosseum.
----
* CharacterCatchphrase: "Damn!", which came to be after he used it in-character during a round of "Baron Munchausen".
* CurseCutShort: His bumper in Direct is essentially a mock PSA where he states that he "does give a damn" when it comes to donating money for an important cause. It gets cut off when he starts getting a little ''too'' profane.
-->'''Marriland:''' While it is true that I do give a damn, I need it to be extremely clear that I '''do not give a fu-''' ''(cue color bar screen)''
* FunnyBackgroundEvent: During Josh Jepson's bit in the 2019 sitcom opening, Devin can be seen in the background giving the camera a cheeky grin while typing on his laptop.
* OverlyLongName: He gives his "Baron Munchausen" character the hilariously absurd name, "Hi I'm West Couch, from West" ("West" being the country that he's from).
* {{Outlaw}}: "Hi, I'm West Couch" is characterized as a gunslinging Western bandit who robs the Number 5 Train with "only five men, five bullets, and five minutes".
[[/folder]]

[[folder:[=MotionDan=]]]
The main editor of TRG and a frequent Colosseum participant. Outside of TRG, he's also the editor for Emile, Tom and Stephen, the producer of Podcast/DiscOnlyPodcast, and a frequent participant in LetsPlay/StephenPlays and WebVideo/StephenVlog.
----
* CharacterCatchphrase: His "I AM DAN" catchphrase from [=StephenVlog=] is occasionally referenced.
* DeadpanSnarker: Occasionally inserts snarky text into the videos he edits.
* DistractedByTheSexy: Says some... questionable remarks about [=RosaJon=] during 2021's Chaos Fortune Cookie.
* FunWithSubtitles: Not exactly a subtitle, but in Episode 25 of Banjo Kazooie, when Jon tells Chugga that you can pick pooped eggs back up, he reacts in shock when this is demonstrated to be true along with Chugga and Tim by inserting some small, signed white text onto the screen.

* BigGood: The TRG website refers to him as "The Gaming Guardian Angel," and he's also often known as the "Stream God."
* BornUnlucky: Implied during his Colosseum 2022 bumper with Chuggaa, where he can't pull a single rare out of his Pokémon card packs. Although this could simply be because [[BornLucky Emile gets them all.]]
* FandomVIP: Of Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda considering his work on Zeldathon.

* AscendedExtra: Jyggy goes from a tech team member to hosting his own segment, That's My Jam, starting in 2022. He also guest sings "Jump Up, Super Star!" during 2023's Colosseum Band Concert.
* ASMRVideo: Parodied by klinkit during the Nap Time segment.
* CoolAndUnusualPunishment: MC and Kampy plan some unique donation incentives during a Colosseum Direct bumper.
-->'''MC:''' For $35, Jon will carry Emile into the woods and leave him there for 24 hours.''
* MadLibsCatchphrase: A RunningGag in Jyggy's bumpers.
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: By nature, most of their work is this.
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: In the behind-the-scenes bumper for Colosseum 2023, Bassoonify is introduced with the subtitle "No, we're not holding him hostage."
* StickySituation: An incentive for Nap Time during Colo 2023 involves wrapping the couch in cling wrap. Poor Kampy attempts to save the Lamp from falling and ends up getting wrapped himself for the entire rest of the segment.

----
* AlternateSelf: She's an alternate dimension counterpart to [=ProtonJon=].
* TheCameo: Cameos in a 2022 bumper when Jon calls tech support in regards to glitching reality and he briefly becomes her.
* FlippingTheBird: Done this twice in response towards Emile.
** When asked to have her character be AI controlled, she frees up her hands to hug her Bagel Luma. When Emile thought she'll be putting her hands somewhere else, she responds with this gesture.
** The second time she does this, it's in response to Emile suggesting a donation goal to have her boobs exposed.
* MixAndMatchWeapon: Her magic nunchucks. They're nunchucks with a pair of magic wands affixed to them, one of which fell off during the Hiker Dance.
* RageAgainstTheAuthor: Caught Jon shirking Colosseum duties by claiming there's an emergency involving [[spoiler:Picross]]. She forces him off the couch using a Nerf gun.

[[folder:Light-Gold Bold Text]]
First appearing in 2021, Light-Gold Bold text is, as the name implies, bolded text in a light-gold color. Introduced when technical difficulties resulted in an extended break between segments, LGBT provided updates on the situation and helped keep viewers entertained while they waited for things to be fixed. An immediate hit with said viewers, LGBT continued to make appearances throughout the event, usually during breaks but occasionally within segments as well.
----
* AscendedExtra: The text was originally used to tell viewers what was going on during unexpected downtime caused by technical issues. Its sudden popularity resulted in it continually showing up for the rest of the event.
** Funnily enough, becomes DemotedToExtra in 2023, as much of the break screen time is instead spent by members of the team reading more donations.
* BreakoutCharacter: Who would have thought a ''text window'' would become so popular?
* FunWithAcronyms: When abbreviated, it becomes LGBT.
** Doubles as a StealthPun, because MC is usually the one behind LGBT, and is gay himself.
* VersionExclusiveContent: Most of LGBT's presence was during breaks, and thus not included in the [=YouTube=] uploads.

The fourth player in each board game they play, which varies on each board and game. This applies to both ''Mario Party'' and ''100% Orange Juice!''.

-> '''Wins:''' ''Mario Party 5''[[note]]Toy Dream[[/note]], ''100% Orange Juice!''[[note]]Lagoon Flight, Sweet Heaven, Starship, Witch Forest, Ocean Dive[[/note]]
----
* AccidentalMisnaming: Jon refers to Koopa Kid as "Kid Koopa."
* TheAce:
** Mario, who has managed to net at least one of the Bonus Stars on each board he's been on prior to Mario Party 6.
** There's also Mario's insane luck with Game Guy and his [[https://youtu.be/RNFF2ikY10Y?t=16m46s very last second victory in Mario Party 4's Fish n' Drips.]] (volume warning)
** In Mario Party 5, [[spoiler:Mario becomes the first AI to win a main board.]]
* ArtificialStupidity: The AI can sometimes make a great deal of embarrassing mistakes. Exaggerated with Wario in Chilly Waters; he frequently moves away from the star, goes to doors with no Skeleton Keys, and used a Dueling Glove to duel Jon (who had 69 coins) instead of Chugga (who had over 300) for '''one coin.'''
** Wario soared to this in the last board of Mario Party DS, owing to a particular bit of programming when it comes to the Grab Bag. In short, the AI will always target the player who's listed last in the character select so long as they have items. Throughout most of TRG, Emile is pegged as Player 1, Tim as Player 2, and Jon as Player 3, so by default, the AI would always target Jon's items so long as he had any, in spite of the opponents having better items.
* AscendedExtra: Daisy becomes Chugga's character of choice in Mario Party 5. Toad, who he was planning to play as before the Daisy memes started, eventually got his time as Emile's character in Mario Party 7.
* BigBad: They are probably the closest equivalent to one in the channel whenever they show up as them winning means a loss for the guys as a whole.
* BornLucky: Mario, who managed to get '''596''' coins from a Game Guy minigame. Not even Chugga's had that kind of luck. His max was around the 300's on Chilly Waters. He wins on Mario Party 5's Toy Dream, beating Chugga by '''one coin'''.
* ButtMonkey:
** All of them, seeing how none of them have won a real board in the main Let's Plays yet [[spoiler: until Mario won the first board, Toy Dream, of Mario Party 5]], but special mention goes to Wario.
** Luigi is the butt of a lot of jokes, as expected.
* ChaoticStupid: Predicting what the AI is going to do at any given point is near impossible.
* CharacterCatchphrase: "D'oh! I missed!" for Wario.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn:
** Most notably with Daisy, who started out as a FlatCharacter in Mario Party 3 before becoming TheDitz in 4, [[ShipTease shipped with Chugga in]] [[AccidentalInnuendo the Mario Party 6 livestream]], and ultimately became Chugga's character of choice in 5 and 6 before returning to CPU in 7 when Emile "breaks up" with her.
** Despite being hyped up by Chugga as TheDreaded, Boo became much more of a [[TheChewToy pushover]].
* TheComputerIsACheatingBastard: Chugga points out that when being attacked by Boo, the [=AI=] can button mash faster than humanly possible.
* TheChewToy:
** In Mario Party 1, where the guys team up against the AI.
** Boo being chosen as the CPU for Snowflake Lake in Mario Party 6's led to him becoming this, as he was the most common target for being attacked by Chain Chomps.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Wario gets two when the Guys pick him in 1's Minigame Island and 2's Minigame Coaster.
** In Mario Party 7's Solo Mode, [=MasaeAnela=] had already made a file under her name for Yoshi, forcing Tim to play as Luigi. [[spoiler:[[ThrowTheDogABone He ends up beating Emile in after a very long duel in Neon Heights]].]]
* DemotedToExtra:
** Jon originally played as Mario, but in Mario Party 3 he switched to Waluigi.
** After two losing streaks in a row, in Mario Party 7, Emile abandons Daisy for Toad (and he plays this out like a break up).
* TheDitz: Wario and Daisy, especially in Mario Party 4 for the latter.
* TheDreaded:
** Peach, to the point where the three guys would often team up against her in Mario Party 1.
** In Mario Party 5, Chugga claims that Boo has become the new Peach. [[VillainDecay His performances have proven otherwise.]]
* FatIdiot: Wario, whose weight and ArtificialStupidity are the subject of a lot of jokes in the first game.
* FinalBoss: Peach acts as this for Mario Party 1, 2, and 4 being the CPU for the last board. In Mario Party 3 and DS, this was given to Wario. In Mario Party 5, Koopa Kid became the CPU for the last board. In Mario Party 6 it was taken by Toadette, who ended up reprising her role in Mario Party 7. In Mario Party 8, the role was given to Hammer Bro.
* FlatCharacter: Toad and Koopa Kid haven't shown as much personality as the other [=CPUs=] since their debut in Mario Party 5. Didn't help that Emile eventually started playing as the former, and the latter was dropped.
* ForgotAboutHisPowers: The Guys joke that Boo could easily win certain minigames by floating or turning intangible.
* IHatePastMe: Mario is often referred to as "Past Jon", and Jon usually gets this way whenever Mario screws him over.
* TheJinx: Chugga never won a board after switching his character to Daisy in Mario Party 5. Daisy is such a jinx that [[spoiler:by stats, Emile won the first game he stops playing as her, and even then still won two boards. By proxy, this makes Toad an inversion.]]
* KarmaHoudini: The reason why the Guys refuse to have an AI opponent in ''VideoGame/DokaponKingdom'' is that they fear the AI would become this as it would [[TheComputerIsACheatingBastard cheat mercilessly]] [[YouCantFightFate and basically get a clean sweep no matter what they do.]]
* SugarWiki/MostWonderfulSound: In-universe, Wario's "Doh I missed!" is this for Chugga.
* OutOfFocus: Luigi in the first Mario Party since he didn't have evil AI or an amusing catch phrase.
** Luigi in general seems to be the least interesting out of all the AI, not being stupid, evil, lucky, or shipped with Chugga.
*** Outside of Mystery Land in Emile's playthrough of Mario Party 2 with [=MasaeAnela=], that is.
* PromotedToPlayable: Toad, Boo, and Koopa Kid become playable in Mario Party 5, but since none of the guys play as them they join the ranks of the other computers. That is, until 7 where Toad became Emile's character (and Koopa Kid stopped being playable at all).
* ShipTease: Daisy with Chugga after one too many innuendos.
* TeamRocketWins:
** In Jon's Mario Party 6 livestream, Daisy wins Faire Square with a ridiculous amount of stars.
** Mario wins the first board of Mario Party 5.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Usually the reaction of whoever gets stuck with them in 2 vs. 2 minigames unless it's a case of TheComputerIsACheatingBastard.
* ThrowTheDogABone: Wario finally wins a board in Mini Mushroom Mayhem in Mario Party 4.
* TookALevelInBadass: The three make note of how the AI in Mario Party 5 is "particularly brutal." [[spoiler: The winner of the first board in that project is Mario.]]
* TheWorfEffect: With Mario setting the bar so high at the start in Mario Party 5, the rest of the AI does not do nearly as well.

[[folder:Old Man Mannequin]]
[[quoteright:215:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/oldman_6.PNG]]

A mannequin of an old man in Sonic Adventure that Jon obsesses over.
----
* AscendedExtra: Was nothing more than just a prop in the game, but has been given an identity thanks to Jon.
* BreakoutCharacter: How the guys became fixated on him is a mystery.
* CompanionCube: A lifeless dummy that Jon tries to take with him on his adventures.
* {{Filler}}: Most episodes featuring him have this.
