Link lived a peaceful, happy, [[FeatheredFiend giant enemy bird]]-free life on sunny Outset Island until his birthday, when [[TheCallKnowsWhereYouLive his adorable little sister Aryll was kidnapped by a giant enemy bird.]] Link set out to do what any [[BigBrotherInstinct good brother]] would— find his little sister, rescue her, and [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown stab whoever took her, preferably repeatedly.]] However, it turned out that the kidnapping of his sister was part of something much bigger; having ChronicHeroSyndrome, he decides to put a stop to it.
----
* NumberOneDime: Link's first weapon is Orca's old, well-used Hero's Sword that is quickly dismissed by Tetra as "cheap." The in-game narration gives it more respect than most of the other items, and Link decides to take it with him when he goes on a new adventure at the end of the game.
* ABirthdayNotABreak: Aryll was kidnapped on his birthday.
* AncestralWeapon: The Hero's Shield he begins the game with was passed down through his family throughout the ages following the flood, and it quickly proves its worth as a disarming tool during the first raid of the Forsaken Fortress.
* AnimalMotifs: Cats. He has large, cat-like eyes and rides the King of Red Lions. Additionally, in an optional stealth sidequest, if he's heard but not seen, he'll impersonate a cat's cry to keep cover.
* BadassAdorable: To put things into perspective, he's one of the few Links who actually '''[=KILLS=]''' Ganondorf instead of sealing him. His badassery doesn't affect his innocence and cheerful attitude.
* BadassNormal: This incarnation of Link is just a kid with a sword and some special equipment he finds lying around, and a whole lot of [[{{Determinator}} determination]]. The King of Red Lions says he has no connection to the Hero of Time whatsoever. This Link wasn't destined for anything, he's just some kid who [[spoiler:repowered the Master Sword, reclaimed the Triforce of Courage, and killed Ganondorf not because of destiny, but to protect his sister and the world. In fact, if the Spirit of the Hero had been sent back to the child timeline with the Hero of Time, this Link doesn't even have ''THAT'' going for him]].
* BattleBoomerang: He can find a boomerang in the Forbidden Woods, which lets him lock on to as many as five targets at a time.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: He's a sweet, slightly dopey little kid until you mess with someone close to him.
* {{BFS}}: The Darknut swords are bigger than him, but he can still swing them about.
* BigBrotherInstinct: When Aryll is first kidnapped, he's so determined to get to her that he nearly ''runs off a cliff'' trying to do so.
* BlueIsHeroic: He starts off with blue pajamas, contrasting previous Links in the series. As he becomes stronger and more involved against Ganondorf, he acquires the blue-colored Master Sword and Mirror Shield. In the NewGamePlus, he can also wear his Outset pajamas the whole game, making him even ''more'' so.
* BowAndSwordInAccord: As with most Links, he gets a nice bow -- and ultimately [[TrickArrow four different types of arrows]] -- to go along with that awesome sword of his.
* BreakoutCharacter: Well, not him, but since his debut his design has been extensively used in other ''Zelda'' games rather than designing a different child look. Those other games do change his background, though.
* BrilliantButLazy: He's first introduced slacking off on top of a tower. That said, his fencing mentor says he's a natural with a sword, he takes to marksmanship very easily, is a master sailor, slays armies, [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and is an expert at winning auctions.]]
* ButNowIMustGo: [[spoiler:At the end of the game, rather than return to Outset Island and stay with his family, Link chooses to venture out with Tetra and her pirates in search of a new land.]]
* ButtMonkey:
** This version of Link takes quite a bit of physical harm, from being blasted out of a cannon against his will, flung face-first into the Tower of the Gods, and effortlessly beaten down by Ganondorf… the latter of which happened ''twice''.
** Even outside of that, he earns very little respect from anyone off the coast of Outset Island at the beginning, with Tetra making fun of him, the King of Red Lions calling him "surprisingly dull-witted", and the Fishmen constantly referring to him as "small fry".
* TheCallKnowsWhereYouLive: Unlike most versions of the hero, this Link had no intention of leaving Outset Island and was living at peace with his family… until a giant enemy bird randomly swooped in and carried his sister away.
* CameraFiend: Once you get the Picto Box.
* CarryABigStick: He can obtain the Skull Hammer, which is as big as he is. He can also take clubs from Stalfos later in the game, but by then the Master Sword makes them redundant.
* TheChampion: For Aryll at first, then [[spoiler:Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule later (incidentally, not so much for Tetra in this case since she prefers to be a [[LittleMissBadass spunky doer instead of a passive observer/hostage]]).]]
* ChestInsignia: The center of his pajama shirt has a crawfish, a deceptively small but aggressive marine animal.
* TheChewToy: On top of him recieving absolutely ''no'' respect for the first half of the game, a running gag involves him being launched into the air, smacking into a stone wall, and falling several stories.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Even though his main objective is saving his little sister and defeating Ganondorf, he will still help anyone else he can on the way.
* ClothesMakeTheLegend: In this case, they're just clothes all boys on Outset Island wear when they reach a certain age (presumably the age when the Link from ''Ocarina of Time'' set out on his quest to save Hyrule). So, in this case, the legend defined the clothes (though Link writes his own legend regardless).
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: In contrast to the Hero of Time, who was TheStoic with a DarkAndTroubledPast, this version of Link is far [[DorkKnight goofier]], more outgoing, and had a relatively mundane childhood before the Helmaroc King showed up.
* CoolBoat: He ends up sailing on a talking red boat with a lion's figurehead who saved him from the sea. Can't get much cooler than that.
* CoolSword: As is tradition, the Master Sword. However, this time around the Blade of Evil's Bane is in a reduced, underpowered state, and he has to work with the Sages to restore it.
* CrazyPrepared: Has a weapon/item for every possible situation.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: The King of Red Lions remarks that he's "surprisingly dull-witted". Doesn't stop him from conquering dungeon after dungeon, being one of the only Links to outright ''kill'' Ganondorf instead of simply sealing him away, and ultimately going on to [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSpiritTracks co-found an entirely new Hyrule]].
* CurseEscapeClause: [[spoiler:Unintentionally becomes the only Link that has managed to break [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword Demise's curse]], as him killing Ganon means Ganon never reincarnated in this timeline. Although never fully explained, the implication is him ''not'' being connected to the soul of ''the'' Link is what allowed him to defeat Ganon/Demise for good.]]
* {{Determinator}}: Many obstacles lie between Link and saving his sister. But Link keeps going at it, no matter how many times they knock him down.
* DieChairDie: All Links seem to share an instinctive hatred of pottery and tall grass.
* DorkKnight: Both because of his goofy mannerisms and the fact that unlike most incarnations, this Link ''was not'' the ChosenOne. Despite all that, he still manages to save the day.
* DudeWheresMyReward: His role in rescuing the captive girls from the Forsaken Fortress ends up being glanced over by their fathers, who ascribe all the credit to Tetra and her pirates instead. Though in fairness, it was the pirates who distracted the Helmaroc King from Link's incursion, in addition to opening the cell door and actually delivering the girls home.
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: He gains access to magic in the game (namely, a souped-up spin attack, a full-body barrier, and the fire and ice arrows).
* EveryoneCanSeeIt: He gets teased a few times about having a bit of a thing for Tetra. Somehow, even innocuous shopkeepers and minigame proprietors are able to tell.
* FearlessFool: The difference between courageous bravery and brash foolishness comes up several times in the story. As early as Outset Island, Tetra tells Link that trying to go to the Forsaken Fortress with just a puny sword is stupid rather than brave, and he's told not to do foolish or reckless things by various characters throughout the story. As Link obtains both the skills and items needed to complete his quest, his actions come to be viewed more favorably.
* FutileHandReach: [[spoiler:Link attempts to reach out to King Daphnes as Hyrule floods around him. Unfortunately, the King knows that his time has passed and the Great Sea has nothing for him, so he chooses to drown with the rest of his kingdom as Link and Tetra rise to the surface.]]
* GenreBlindness: [[spoiler:Lampshaded by Ganondorf. The monsters that were frozen before he removed the Master Sword unfreeze, and he doesn't suspect that anything was up.]]
* GuysSmashGirlsShoot: When fighting Ganondorf for the final time, he basically hands off his bow and Light Arrows [[spoiler:to Zelda, who shoots Ganondorf from afar when the King of Evil is distracted fighting Link]].
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Link is a noble and kind hero with blond hair. His first heroic deed is going to Tetra's rescue, despite having no idea of who she is or whether or not the Helmaroc King will come back.
* TheHero: But of course. Though he has to earn his status as such through many trials.
* HeroicLineage: Implied. He's unrelated to the Hero of Time, but the family shield he starts off with is described as having been used by a hero of legend nonetheless -- likely the Link from ''The Minish Cap'', given the identical Small Shield he uses in that game, and their similar appearances.
* HumongousHeadedHammer: After defeating Phantom Ganon, Link gets the Skull Hammer, a two-handed mallet with a head bigger than his own. It's the first weapon capable of dealing any serious damage to the Helmaroc King, who shrugged off a shot from the pirates' catapult early in the game. It's also used to depress some buttons in puzzles that can't be pushed by other means.
* HeroicMime: Usually only talks in dialogue trees. [[SubvertedTrope However]], this Link does actually [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ye69GNDlcKc speak]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DucqEmj_yjM twice]][[note]]Meowing counts as speech, right?[[/note]].
* IconicOutfit: While his takes on the green hat and tunic were originally just ceremonial clothes worn on Outset Island, they become so associated with him that the royal guards shown a century later in ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSpiritTracks'' wear similar uniforms to carry on his legacy, despite there being no other record of him in the castle.
* IdenticalStranger: [[spoiler:Of the Hero of Time. This Link has zero connection to the soul of the hero, yet still strongly resembles him and shares his name. Why is never explained in game.]]
* ImprobableUseOfAWeapon: He can take spears from defeated or disarmed Moblins and wield them in battle, but he will still try to use them as swords.
* {{Irony}}:
** Most Links have SuperSwimmingSkills. Meanwhile, he's limited by a stamina meter despite the fact that he should logically be the best swimmer of all (seeing as he grew up on an island in the middle of the ocean).
** This Link had to earn his position as the legendary hero instead of being hand-picked by divine forces, but his current placement in the timeline means that there were [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheMinishCap two]] [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaFourSwords Links]] before him that he looks nigh-identical to, right down to their clothes. If it weren't for Ezlo, they'd all be dead ringers for one another!
** It is him who [[spoiler:finally breaks [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword Demise's curse]] by finishing off Ganondorf once and for all. He is the ''only'' Link so far who has successfully managed to do this; the kicker being that he's not even a direct reincarnation of a previous Link.]]
* ItsPersonal: More so than other Links of the past, this Link's adventure starts when they hit him in the family.
* JumpedAtTheCall: Off a cliff, no less.
* KidHero: Somewhere between 9 and 12 at the start of his journey.
* KleptomaniacHero: If it even vaguely looks useful and isn't nailed down, Link will nab it. (He'll come back later for the nailed down stuff.)
* LegacyCharacter: Though he is [[TheUnchosenOne not actually "chosen"]] to be the [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Hero Of Time's]] successor at first, Link eventually ''forces'' the gods to choose him by carrying the Wind Waker, collecting the Triforce of Courage, and pulling out the Master Sword, earning him the title of the "Hero of Winds".
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Hero of the Winds". It's taken from the main ''Zelda'' theme.
* MacheteMayhem: He can take them from defeated or disarmed Bokoblins and wield them in battle. In Dragon Roost Cavern, players actually have to use them to smash wooden barriers.
* MadeOfIron: Link has some improbable luck when it comes to surviving disasters, [[NoOneCouldSurviveThat to everyone's bewilderment]]. He walks off slamming into the Forsaken Fortress' wall after being launched by a catapult, survives getting thrown into the ocean by the Helmaroc King, and withstands getting hit by an explosion powerful enough to send him miles through the air and against the Tower of the Gods.
* MagicMusic: The Wind Waker is a magical baton that lets him control the direction of the wind, teleport himself, and other such things.
* NiceGuy: Even more than the Hero of Time, this version of Link is a friendly little goofball who loves his family and seemingly [[ChronicHeroSyndrome can't help but go out of his way to help anyone he can]].
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler:He got the Master Sword, only it turns out that removing it also removed the seal on the Triforce of Power, meaning he returned Ganondorf to full strength.]]
* NoRespectGuy: Initially, very few people take him seriously as the Hero of Winds, including the King of Red Lions, who is supposed to be helping him. This wears off as the game progresses and Link more than proves himself as a worthy successor to the Hero of Time, something that even [[VillainRespect Ganondorf]] compliments.
* NotQuiteFlight: He's incapable of flight, yet needs to reach the otherwise inaccessible Forbidden Forest. The Great Deku Tree and his Koroks improvise with a magical Deku Leaf that allows him to glide long-distance.
* OddlyVisibleEyebrows: In a rare video game example, the graphics make it so that Link's eyebrows show up fully through his hair. If you angle the camera right, you'll even see that his ''eyes'' will show through his hair as well.
* PajamaCladHero: In the NewGamePlus, the Hero's New Clothes are invisible, meaning that the player can still see his pajamas.
* ParentalAbandonment: Though he's raised by his grandma, so his parents are never really brought up.
* PlotTailoredToTheParty: No matter how bizarre the magical knicknacks he picks up, he'll find ''some'' way to kill at least one giant monster with it.
* PostVictoryCollapse: He nearly falls to his knees after winning his last bout with Ganondorf and impaling the evil king. Zelda has to catch him and hold him up.
* RaisedByGrandparents: His parents are nowhere to be found, or even mentioned; Link and Aryll's grandma is, as far as we know, the one who raised them.
* ScreamingWarrior: Especially when performing a Hurricane Spin. This incarnation of Link is particularly hot-blooded.
* SecondComing: Years after the Hero of Time failed to return when Ganondorf was released from captivity, a new hero by the name of Link would be recognized by Ganondorf as "the Hero of Time, reborn".
* SignatureHeadgear: Still sports his iconic green hat (Except in NewGamePlus).
* SpinAttack: Besides the usual technique, Orca can teach him the much more powerful (but magic-draining) Hurricane Spin Attack.
* SuddenlyVoiced: Despite Links in the series being HeroicMute in nature with dialog trees he makes a lot more vocalizations, which gives him more of a personality to boot.
** Hilariously, in 4Koma Link's Logbook, Link actually does talk at certain points but he only does it on rare occasions.
* ThisIsGonnaSuck: This is his non-verbal reaction to being shot from a catapult into the Forsaken Fortress.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: The Elixir Soup prepared by his grandmother. She mentions her plan to prepare it for his birthday celebration early in the game, and it shows up much later as an ultra-powerful bottled item.
* TheUnchosenOne: During the scene with Jabun, the King of Red Lions says that this Link has no connection to the Hero of Time. He actually has to manually gather the pieces of the Triforce of Courage in order to be considered a successor to the Hero of Time, instead of just getting it automatically.
* VagueAge: Link's age in this game is among the most debated ages in the series, with estimates ranging from as young as 9 (from confirmations that Link in ''Ocarina of Time'' is 9 years old and because Link in ''The Wind Waker'' is supposed to be the same age as Link from ''Ocarina of Time'') to as old as 17 (from the latter reason above). Most people (and some translations), however, place his age at 12, using both the Nintendo Power guide for the game and trophy information in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosBrawl''.
* WeakButSkilled: He's just some kid who starts off with only some swordsmanship training, heck, [[spoiler:he's not even a Chosen Hero, just someone who looks like the Hero]]. Through agility, cunning, and genius, though, he overcomes all obstacles in his adventure as well as any other Link.

Link's travel companion is a talking red sailboat, capable of carrying him all over the Great Sea and giving him advice.
----
* AmbiguouslyHuman: Though he is established to be quite old and has a wealth of magical powers and abilities, it's not made clear whether the King of Hyrule is actually the ghost of a posthumous character or if he was granted PurposeDrivenImmortality by the goddesses who bestowed his mission. The former is implied in that he only ever appears in human form while in Hyrule and must possess the King of Red Lions to control it, and the latter via his appearing to expire during the ending.
* AnimalMotifs: If his name weren't evidence enough, the face of his human form has a few lionlike qualities, thanks to his prominent nose, small eyes, and mane-like hair and beard. The resemblance is reflected to a degree in the boat's figurehead, which also resembles a dragon's head.
* AnimateInanimateObject: He's a talking boat for most of the game.
* ArcHero: Of ''The Wind Waker''. He's Link's main companion whose instructions drive the plot forward, while also serving as a {{Foil}} to Ganondorf. Also, unlike this game's version of Link, Tetra, and the pirates, he doesn't appear in ''Phantom Hourglass'' or ''Spirit Tracks''.
* AuthorAvatar: Creator/EijiAonuma reveals that ''The Wind Waker'''s development coincided with the birth of his son. As such, Aonuma created the King of Red Lions to behave like a stern, yet caring father to Link to reflect his own connection to his son. Even the King of Red Lions' character arc, [[spoiler:about letting go of the past and carving a better future]], can be seen as a reflection of Aonuma's desire to guide the ''Zelda'' series in a new direction after ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Ocarina of Time]]''.
* AwesomeMcCoolname: His figurine describes his full name as "one that is truly fit for royalty": [[spoiler:Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule]].
* BigGood: The [[spoiler:King of Hyrule himself and the]] counterpart of Ganondorf, the BigBad.
* BootstrappedLeitmotif: A redux of [[spoiler:the Hyrule Castle]] theme.
* TheChooserOfTheOne: After Hyrule was flooded, the gods ordained that he travel the Great Sea in search of a new hero who could defeat Ganondorf and awaken the forgotten kingdom.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Despite Link leaving Outset aboard the King of Red Lions during the ending, the vessel does not reappear during ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaPhantomHourglass Phantom Hourglass]]'', which starts with the hero sleeping on board Tetra's pirate ship instead. What happened to him in between games is never touched upon.
* CoolBoat: An impressive red sailboat with the power of speech, able to communicate with Link from afar, and equipped with a combined compass and timekeeping device, and parts that take advantage of Link's items (the mast and rigging for a sail, a salvage crane that uses the Grappling Hook for hauling up treasure, and a powerful cannon that can lob bombs at enemies).
* {{Deuteragonist}}: Being Link's main companion who has almost as much screentime as him and a character arc of his own, the King of Red Lions definitely qualifies.
* DrivenToSuicide: [[spoiler:Ultimately chooses to let himself drown with Hyrule, wanting to wash away the past, including himself, for good.]]
* DubNameChange: He's called Red Lion in French, King Drakar in Italian, and Red Figurehead in Spanish.
* ExpositionFairy: He's Link's guide in this game, and communicates with him via the Pirate's Charm, which is actually a Hyrulean heirloom.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: While teaching you how to use the Wind Waker, he starts with three notes for you to conduct. [[spoiler:They're the first three notes of "Zelda's Lullaby", a song only royal family members were said to know.]]
* {{Foil}}: [[spoiler:To Ganondorf. They were both kings; both essentially relics of an age long past and a land long forgotten. Both clung to the memory of Hyrule, but Daphnes realized that letting go of the past and inspiring hope for the next generation was what was important, while Ganondorf refused to stop trying to recapture what he had lost in the past.]]
* TheGoodKing: As canonically revealed in ''Ocarina of Time'', [[spoiler:one won't get their wish granted by the Triforce the first time they touch it unless they possess power, wisdom and courage in equal measure. The King successfully steals Ganon's wish when he touches the Triforce first, implying he has these qualities, as a good ruler should.]]
* IChooseToStay: [[spoiler:At the end of the game, with Hyrule being permanently flooded around them, Daphnes chooses to stay and drown with Hyrule.]] To make it even more heart-wrenching is [[spoiler:Link desperately trying to [[TakeMyHand reach out to him]] as he is being pulled back to the surface. For a moment, it appears as though that Daphnes changes his mind and starts to reach up, before standing by his decision and looking away solemnly]].
* InsistentTerminology: For most of the game, he insists on referring to Ganondorf as "Ganon." [[spoiler:He stops doing this at the end of the game, when his old enemy's fate is sealed]].
* KingIncognito: Before his true identity is revealed, his title as the King of Red Lions seems to be purely for show.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "[[spoiler:Hyrule King Appears]]"
* LikeASonToMe: His relationship with Link could be viewed this way. [[spoiler:The latter nearly managed to convince him against being washed away in the flood, something his actual descendant Tetra had been unable to accomplish.]]
* LostInTranslation: The Japanese rendition of his full name, [[spoiler:Dafunesu Nohansen Hairaru, contains the Japanese words for "ship" (''fune'') and "sailboat" (''hansen'')]].
* MentorOccupationalHazard: He becomes Link's guide through the game until the end when [[spoiler:he stays within the flooded Hyrule. Then again, he was a spirit ever since Hyrule was first flooded...]]
* NiceGuy: Despite initially admonishing Link for being "dull-witted", the King of Red Lions very quickly warms up to him and is nothing but polite to Tetra, Medli, and Makar.
* NoPlaceForMeThere: [[spoiler:He decides to stay with Hyrule as it floods instead of following Link and Tetra to the surface as he sees himself as too much of a relic of the failure of the past to truly allow them to form their own world.]]
* NotSoDifferentRemark: [[spoiler:At the end of game, Daphnes realizes that both he and Ganondorf wish to revive Hyrule from its watery grave because of a nostalgic attachment for the land--an attachment that prevents them from integrating into the new world. Not wishing to drag Link's generation into an old conflict that they are not part of, the Hyrule King decides to bury the old kingdom forever (along with himself and Ganondorf) so that Link and Tetra can be free to choose their own destinies.]]
-->'''King of Red Lions:''' ''"[[spoiler:Not a day of my life has gone by without my thoughts turning to my kingdom of old. I have lived bound to Hyrule. In that sense, I was the same as Ganondorf. But you... I want you to live for the future.]]"''
* NothingLeftToDoButDie: After finally [[spoiler:ensuring Ganondorf's death and the destruction of the last bit of Hyrule, he lets himself drown while Link and Zelda float to the surface]].
* PassingTheTorch: [[spoiler:It's all but stated that he tried but failed to stop Ganondorf himself before the Great Flood. In a more literal sense, it's implied that he also held the title of "Wind Waker" in the past, before literally passing the baton onto Link.]]
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: [[spoiler:He has existed since between the events of ''Ocarina of Time'' and the Great Flood.]]
* TheReveal: [[spoiler:The King of Red Lions is revealed to be the alter-ego of Hyrule's last king: Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule.]]
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: As transport, a mentor, and, at the end of the game, [[spoiler:screwing Ganondorf out of his final wish on the Triforce]].
* RoyaltySuperPower: Much like his [[spoiler:descendant Princess Zelda, he is blessed with the sorcery from their bloodline's DivineParentage]].
* TakingYouWithMe: [[spoiler:The King drowns himself along with Hyrule and Ganondorf in order to give Link and Tetra a future.]]
* TragicHero: [[spoiler:King Daphnes was the ruler of a fallen kingdom and the original Wind Waker, who failed to save his people from Ganondorf's invasion and the subsequent flood from the gods. As the King of Red Lions, he attempts to rectify his past failures by aiding Link, yet [[FatalFlaw his fixation on the past leads to him making the same mistakes]], [[NiceJobBreakingItHero allowing Ganondorf to regain power and capture Tetra]]. In the end, he chooses to use the Triforce to wash away his kingdom so [[PassingTheTorch Link and Tetra can begin anew on the Great Sea]], and [[NothingLeftToDoButDie allows himself to drown]] alongside his castle and [[TakingYouWithMe his nemesis]] to destroy the past for good and [[HeroicSacrifice pave the way for a better future]].]]
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: The few characters who do react to the King of Red Lions tend to be more surprised that someone Link's age would own his own boat, rather than that said boat has a talking figurehead.
* VoiceWithAnInternetConnection: Through the Pirate's Charm. [[spoiler:This hints at his and Tetra's connection.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: His very existence proves essential to many plot devices regarding the game's backstory.

A young pirate girl sailing the seven seas, she meets Link fairly early in his quest and ends up taking him to the Forsaken Fortress. Even after she fires him from a catapult into the fortress wall and leaves, she and Link keep crossing paths for some reason.
----
* ActionGirl: A given considering that she's a fearless pirate armed with a cutlass and even kicks Ganondorf to distract him from killing Link. [[spoiler:More notably, she's the first Princess Zelda to actively fight alongside Link, using his bow and arrows, during the final fight rather than sit by the sidelines and join in at the very last moment like in ''Ocarina of Time''.]]
* AmbiguouslyAbsentParent: The game offers no information about her father apart from the insinuation that he and her mother were married, since Princess Zelda’s figurine describes Tetra as a “legitimate” heir to the royal family. Other than that, there’s no intel whatsoever about who he is or why he’s not around.
* BadassAdorable: A cute preteen girl who leads a pirate crew and isn't afraid to try and fight Ganondorf (she fails and he eventually holds her AtArmsLength, but points for trying).
* BigDamnHeroes:
** She and her pirates are the reason why the Helmaroc King didn't find and toss Link back into the sea the second time he visits the Forsaken Fortress. When Link rescues the girls, including his sister, from their jail cell, Tetra personally arrives to greet Link and offer the girls a ride home (with a hefty fee, of course).
** Shortly afterward, she shows up to rescue Link from Ganondorf once the Master Sword proves useless against him. It's not long before Ganondorf has her by the throat, but her sudden arrival is enough of a distraction for Valoo and the Rito to swoop in and save both of them.
* CanonCharacterAllAlong: At first glance, she appears to be a brand new character made specifically for the game's ocean setting. But she is really [[spoiler:the alter-ego of Princess Zelda, similar to that of [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Sheik]]. What makes it stand out is that Tetra herself never knew of this, thus making Tetra the default personality rather than Zelda, unlike in ''Ocarina of Time'' and ''Hyrule Warriors'']].
* CharacterTics: Her signature pose has her crossing her arms and winking.
* DeadpanSnarker: She has a lot of stealthy jokes as a Pirate Captain.
* DelinquentHair: Tetra styles her hair into a whirlpool knot and is a pirate.
* DubNameChange: She's called Dazel in the Italian translation. [[spoiler:Swap the syllables around and you get "Zelda".]]
* ElementalWeapon: [[spoiler:She takes up the [[LightEmUp Light Arrows]] in the final battle.]]
* EveryoneHasStandards:
** It's unknown exactly what Ganondorf did to the Forsaken Fortress pirates that competed with her group, but Tetra is unsettled by it.
** While she doesn't want to admit it, she insists on going to find Jabun as soon as possible before Ganondorf can do anything to Outset Island, only relenting when she realizes that Link is already on his way.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: As Tetra, she keeps her hair piled on top of her head (though the game's art style makes it a little tough to determine exactly what the style is). [[spoiler:When her true identity as Princess Zelda is revealed and she changes into Zelda's traditional royal dress, her hair is worn down. Her hair then goes back up when she switches back to the Tetra identity during the game's ending.]]
* FounderOfTheKingdom: In ''Spirit Tracks'', Tetra is credited with founding New Hyrule, with a huge stained glass window of her installed in her descendant's throne room.
* FreudianSlip: When she refuses to give her pirates a break on Windfall Island during the Endless Night curse, she makes a small slip of her real reason to get to Outset Island (namely, the fear that Link's island home would be destroyed just like Greatfish Isle). Mako notices that slip, but Tetra immediately denies it, [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial saying she only wants the treasure]] on Outset.
* GoodIsNotNice: Comes with the territory of being a pirate captain. There's no denying her morality, but she's initially dismissive of Link's appeals for her help; and demands a wealthy man's fortune in exchange for returning his kidnapped daughter, leaving the both of them in poverty.
* GuysSmashGirlsShoot: Although she has a cutlass on her hip, the only weapon Tetra uses in the game is Link's bow and arrows [[spoiler:as Princess Zelda during the final fight against Ganondorf, where she shoots Light Arrows at the King of Evil when he is distracted by Link]].
* HeroicLineage: [[spoiler:Unlike Link, she's much more connected to the Triforce of Wisdom, being the descendant of the Zeldas chosen by Hylia]]. Beyond that, she's the daughter of a pirate captain who left her crew in her hands.
* HiddenDepths: Players who enter Tetra's cabin on the ship will find a depiction of the ''Hero of Time'' hanging over her bed, rather than anything you would expect a pirate to have in such a place while they slept. This puts her interactions with and efforts to help Link--who she meets wearing the same green attire--in a more romantic interpretation.
* ImpliedLoveInterest: Link's, to be exact. A few characters even note how Link and Tetra seem to have a thing for each other.
* ImprobableAge: Lampshaded. When asked how Tetra can be in command of a gang of pirates before she's even hit puberty, Nudge jokes that she's actually 35 and just ''looks'' like a preteen girl.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Lampshaded by her figurine, and by one her crewmates when they're gathering bombs. "You sound more worried about the island than the treasure."
* KickingAssInAllHerFinery: [[spoiler:She helps Link fight Ganondorf while dressed in full royal garb as Princess Zelda.]]
* LegendaryInTheSequel: By the time of ''Spirit Tracks'', she is remembered as the founder of the new Kingdom of Hyrule.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Inside the Pirate Ship" serves as one for her and her crew. [[spoiler:"Zelda's Lullaby" once again returns for her as Zelda.]]
* LittleMissBadass: How often do you see preteen female pirate captains?
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: [[spoiler:Her mother entrusted her with the protection of the Triforce of Wisdom, but didn't tell her why or what it was.]]
* LovableRogue: A fairly benign pirate, she'll even go to great lengths to save strangers -- provided someone pays up, of course.
* MythologyGag: Assuming the portrait is accurate, her mother bore a strong resemblance to [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOracleGames Queen Ambi]], who herself was the former lover of the captain of a pirate crew [[spoiler:with a descendant who underwent a ReallyRoyaltyReveal.]]
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: She claimed that her crew distracted Helmaroc King when Link was infiltrating the Forsaken Fortress, but Link never got to see it.
* OrnamentalWeapon: Tetra never once draws that cutlass of hers. Except during ''VideoGame/HyruleWarriors'', where the cutlass is her weapon of choice alongside a flintlock pistol.
* OrphansPlotTrinket: Wears a pendant under her scarf in the shape of an upside-down V. [[spoiler:It's the incomplete Triforce of Wisdom her mother gave to her. King Daphnes has the remaining fragment.]]
* PirateGirl: Like her mother before her.
* ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything: Her pirates are armed with the usual gear, but they only commit two onscreen acts that could be considered piracy, one of them only slightly. Tetra’s figurine suggests they’re more concerned with salvaging sunken treasure than the standard pillaging and plunder.
* ReallyRoyaltyReveal: [[spoiler:Her possession of the partial Triforce of Wisdom marks her as a descendant of Hyrule's royal family.]]
* RebelliousPrincess: Justified in that she didn't know [[spoiler:she was Princess Zelda at first]].
* SecretIdentityIdentity: [[spoiler:The King of Red Lions, Jabun and Ganondorf all consider her to be Princess Zelda first and foremost, with pirate Tetra being a cover identity to hide her from the eyes of Ganon. Tetra disagrees; she views herself to be a pirate captain before princess, and expresses dislike to being called Princess Zelda in ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaPhantomHourglass''. It's not surprising that after Hyrule is permanently flooded, Zelda permanently reverts back into Tetra and [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSpiritTracks her future descendants]] immortalize her pirate identity and name despite being technically Zelda I of New Hyrule.]]
* SilkHidingSteel: Becomes apologetic and docile after donning a dress in [[spoiler:her Zelda form, then she takes part in the final battle against Ganondorf, with Link's bow, and her participation is essential for his success]].
* {{Tomboy}}: She acts like one as a pirate.
* {{Tsundere}}: She seems harsh at first glance, but she's kind and sweet when you get to know her.
* UngratefulBastard: She's initially dismissive of Link's efforts in rescuing her from the Forest of Fairies, apparently not even realizing that's what he was doing there. Once Quill points it out to her, she repays Link by agreeing to ferry him to the Forsaken Fortress to rescue Aryll.
* VoiceWithAnInternetConnection: During Link's first attempt to rescue his sister from the Forsaken Fortress. The King of Red Lions takes the role after that.
* WalkingSpoiler: It doesn't take much to figure out why there are so much spoilers here, [[LateArrivalSpoiler assuming that it's a secret anymore.]]
* WellExcuseMePrincess: Fittingly, as [[spoiler:she's actually Princess Zelda.]]
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: She's quite mature for her age, which is why the other pirates accepted her as their leader following her mother's passing.
* YoungAndInCharge: She inherited captaincy and her crew of scallywags from her deceased mother.

-> ''"My country lay within a vast desert. When the sun rose into the sky, a burning wind punished my lands, searing the world. And when the moon climbed into the dark of night, a frigid gale pierced our homes. No matter when it came, the wind carried the same thing... death. But the winds that blew across the green fields of Hyrule brought something other than suffering and ruin. I coveted that wind, I suppose."''

Several years after being imprisoned in the Dark Realm, [[Characters/TheLegendOfZeldaGanonGanondorf Ganondorf]] is finally able to get free, and the [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Hero of Time]], having been sent back to the past by Zelda, is nowhere to stop him this time around. Free to do as he pleases, he plunges Hyrule into chaos once again. The citizens of Hyrule pray for the Goddesses to intervene, and so they do, [[TheGreatFlood by flooding the kingdom]] [[BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor and sending selected people to the mountaintops to survive the flood and repopulate the world]]. Hyrule was left [[ColourCodedTimestop frozen in time]] undersea, but Ganondorf still managed to escape to the surface, many centuries later, in a fortress that he then seized as his own. His first course of action then is to kidnap every single girl with pointy ears he can, in an attempt to find the current descendant of the Royal Family.
----
* AdiposeRex: One of the more rotund Ganondorfs the series has had. This reflects how he has grown older since his appearance in ''Ocarina of Time''.
* AffablyEvil: [[ZigZaggingTrope Zig-zagged]]. His attitude towards Link at the start of the game is the usual one (that is, [[FauxAffablyEvil soft-spoken contempt]]), faux-praising Link when he confronts him for the first time since Link doesn't realize [[spoiler:that he's holding a powerless Master Sword]]. However, unlike [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime his previous appearance]], Ganondorf otherwise [[NothingPersonal harbors little malice towards the heroes]]. As the game unfolds, he shows genuine respect for Link as he becomes [[WorthyOpponent a worthy successor of the Hero of Time]], even genuinely praising the young boy as the Hero of Time reborn after he has defeated Puppet Ganon. Likewise, when he [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown forcibly takes]] the Triforce of Courage from Link, Ganondorf [[PetTheDog spares the boy's life]]. Even his desire for Hyrule is given [[StartOfDarkness a more humane reason for how it got started]] beyond the usual lust for power. [[spoiler:However, the one moment his wish for Hyrule to resurface is [[AllForNothing taken away from him]], what remains is [[VillainousBreakdown a broken man]] who [[LaughingMad laughs it off in irony]], drops the sympathetic air, and tries to [[TheLastDance kill the heroes as Old Hyrule starts to drown]], in a sore attempt to [[TakingYouWithMe make them suffer his own demise]]. ''Even then'', as Link successfully defeats him, he snaps out of it and [[FaceDeathWithDignity lets off a chuckle]] as he notes the irony of his death, [[GoOutWithASmile which he accepts]].]] Simply put, Ganondorf is just as genuinely Affably Evil as he is FauxAffablyEvil.
* AlasPoorVillain: This is by far the most sympathetic portrayal of Ganondorf in the series, and his defeat is played up to be that of tragedy. [[spoiler:Because Ganondorf is already doomed to drown with Hyrule thanks to the King's wish, his final duel with Link and Zelda is more of a rabid dog that needs to be put down rather than a fight for the fate of the world. When he dies, Ganondorf mutters about feeling the wind blowing for the last time, a tragic reminder of his original desire before he became corrupted with greed. Even King Daphnes feels empathy for his ancient nemesis, stating that they were alike in their attachment for Hyrule and desire to resurrect the past without considering the current generation.]]
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Although the artwork depicts him as AmbiguouslyBrown, in-game his skin is very unambiguously green.
* AnimalMotifs:
** Pigs. Most of Ganondorf's minions have pig-like features, especially the Bokoblins and Moblins. Ganon's Tower is embed with pigs and boars. While he doesn't transform into [[PigMan Ganon]], Puppet Ganon more than makes up for it.
** He also has a bird motif unique to this game. He is the handler of the Helmaroc King, he has seagulls flying around and inside the Forsaken Fortress, he lives at the top of the Fortress using a sailboat as a perch, has a rather hawk-like profile, and he's up against a hero with cat symbolism.
* ArchEnemy: But of course. While it's not as personal this time around on his end, Ganondorf is still the man behind all the terror across the Great Sea and the kidnapping of Aryll, thus making him Link's ultimate enemy.
* BaddieFlattery: He commends Link for defeating his minions and making it all the way to the Forsaken Fortress, but calls it reckless courage. Then he gleefully reveals [[spoiler:that Link pulling out the Master Sword from the pedestal [[NiceJobBreakingItHero has given the King of Evil his full strength back]] and that [[AllForNothing the Master Sword lacks the power to repel evil]]]].
* BadassBoast: He has a nonverbal example shown when Link first goes to confront him with the Master Sword. The door to his quarters is decorated with skulls and swords, referencing his capture of the Forsaken Fortress.
* BadassLongcoat: With big sleeves that flap and flow on the wind.
* BattleInTheRain: In the fight at the top of his Castle. [[spoiler:But it's no ordinary rain. It's actually the Great Sea spilling into Hyrule as it collapses.]]
* BeardOfEvil: Now sports this; seemingly grown during the long time he was sealed.
* BigBad: As per usual. He is the reason why the Helmaroc King has been kidnapping young girls with pointy ears, and much of Link's quest is to undo Ganondorf's machinations and prevent the King of Evil from assembling the Triforce to resurrect Hyrule in his own image.
* BishonenLine: In an [[InvertedTrope Inversion]] of the usual formula, you first fight the monstrous Puppet Ganon before facing off against the humanoid Ganondorf.
* BroughtDownToBadass: The result of having freed himself from the Evil Realm without the Master Sword's removal. [[spoiler:It becomes permanent when Daphnes makes his wish upon the Triforce, taking Ganondorf's powers from the Triforce of Power away for good.]]
* CombatPragmatist: Learning from [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime his previous defeat]], Ganondorf avoids a direct confrontation with Link and instead uses indirect means like Puppet Ganon to stop him. When Link confronts him on top of Ganon's Tower with the Master Sword and Triforce of Courage at hand, Ganondorf skips the obligatory duel that cost him victory last time and just ambushes Link; pummeling the Hero of Winds into semi-consciousness before he even has a chance to make his move.
* CrazySurvivalist: The King of Evil, of all people, has become this since the flood of Hyrule. He has holed himself up in the Forsaken Fortress, a decrepit and remote stronghold lined with cannons that shoot anything that comes too close.
* CurbStompBattle: ''Twice'' in the game, Ganondorf effortlessly beats Link into unconsciousness with a few punches.
* CuriousQualmsOfConscience: After having centuries to reflect on his actions and seeing the devestation that's been brought upon Hyrule, Ganondorf starts to question his own motives and reminisces about a time when he genuinely sought a better life for his people. Unfortunately, this newfound conscience isn't enough to stop his lust for power.
* TheDarkSideWillMakeYouForget: Implied by the quote above. He initially set out to conquer Hyrule because he envied its idyllic nature while his people lived in a harsh desert... but when he laid hands on the Triforce, seven years later, all he'd changed is that now the rest of Hyrule is even worse than the desert while he chased the missing pieces of the Triforce, with aspirations to conquer the entire world too.
* DeathEqualsRedemption: According to ''Hyrule Encyclopedia'', [[spoiler:Ganondorf is freed from his unceasing desire for the Triforce when he is finally killed by Link. Considering that this desire is described to have "clung to him like a curse," he may be the only incarnation of Ganon to have finally escaped the [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword reincarnation cycle of Demise]]]].
* DemotedToExtra: Not him, but his "Ganon" form. It's only seen in the prologue and on a stained glass window, and in the final battle he summons Puppet Ganon instead of transforming.
* DieLaughing: Ganondorf chuckles to himself once he realizes that Link finally killed him.
* DiedStandingUp: Ganondorf is petrified when Link stabs him with the Master Sword, leaving him standing upright as a statue forever.
* DualWielding: In the final battle, Ganondorf fights Link and Zelda with a katana in each hand.
* DyingAsYourself: The game's prologue depicts him as a monstrous pig demon infused with the Triforce of Power who was sealed by the Hero of Time, and the various deities of the Great Sea (along with the King of Red Lions) all refer to him as Ganon. By the end of the game, Ganon dies as Ganondorf, a mortal Gerudo [[spoiler:who just lost the Triforce of Power]], remembering the winds of old that initially motivated his desires.
* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas: The blades of his swords have the names of his surrogate mothers, Kotake and Koume, engraved on them.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He's clearly enraged by the gods' decision to flood all of Hyrule, [[NeverMyFault even if he was the one that drove them to do it]]. Regardless, it's clear that he wanted to conquer Hyrule, not destroy it.
* EvilLaugh: Has one when he [[http://noproblo.dayjo.org/ZeldaSounds/WW_New/WW_Ganondorf_FoundZelda.wav finally finds Zelda]]. There's also the 16 uninterrupted seconds of [[http://noproblo.dayjo.org/ZeldaSounds/WW_New/WW_Ganondorf_Final_TriforceLaugh1.wav his]] [[http://noproblo.dayjo.org/ZeldaSounds/WW_New/WW_Ganondorf_Final_TriforceLaugh2.wav epic]] [[ChewingTheScenery scenery-distorting]] [[http://noproblo.dayjo.org/ZeldaSounds/WW_New/WW_Ganondorf_Final_TriforceLaugh3.wav laugh]] before he's trolled by the King of Hyrule.
* EvilOverlord: [[spoiler:Of Hyrule for a time, before the Goddesses flooded it. Now that he's reached the surface, he wastes no time re-establishing his rule over his monsters, curses the sea so it's easier for him to stay in control, and is taking precautions to make sure he doesn't get beaten again.]]
* EvilPuppeteer: He's the puppeteer of Puppet Ganon, controlling its movement to fight Link. He gives it a creepy introduction, right after ranting about how the gods used everyone and discarded them for their amusement.
* EvilSorcerer: He shows off his magical prowess when he curses the sea to a never-ending stormy night.
* EvilSoundsRaspy: His voice has a noticeable rasp to it, especially compared to [[EvilSoundsDeep his previous appearance]] in ''Ocarina of Time''.
* EvilTowerOfOminousness: Ganon's Tower, yet again.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: [[spoiler:After Link delivers the final blow, Ganondorf ceases all movement, but doesn't bother to inflict a DyingCurse upon his enemies. Instead, he accepts his own death, noting the irony of Hyrule's wind bringing the very thing that he hated about the desert wind.]]
* FatalFlaw: {{Pride}}. Despite his attempts to temper his arrogance, reflect on his past, and learn from his mistakes, Ganondorf's pride remains the same as it was in ''Ocarina of Time''. It becomes his undoing when [[spoiler:he proceeds to flaunt his wish rather than quickly touching the Triforce after it is assembled, an aspect that King Daphnes quickly exploits. Likewise, Ganondorf's pride is the reason why he's unable to adapt in the present despite the Great Sea offering less resistance to his conquest than old Hyrule, as he won't accept anything less than the land he coveted in the first place]].
* FormerlyFit: Ganondorf's long imprisonment in the Sacred Realm has left him noticeably heavier than his incredibly muscular form in ''Ocarina of Time''. His gut is far larger, and his body has an overall softer, more relaxed appearance than that of a warrior in his prime.
* FreudianExcuse: In a surprising form of CharacterDevelopment, Ganondorf reveals that his desire for the Triforce and Hyrule did not begin as just mere greed for power. He explains that his home country was a DeathWorld where he watched his people die around him while Hyrule was a paradise beyond his imagining, symbolized by the differences of their winds. Even though Ganondorf still intends to rule this paradise under a reign of darkness and terror, his solemn expression suggests that there may be some truth in his words, and that he now regrets [[TheDarkSideWillMakeYouForget having lost sight of that goal in favor of aspirations toward godhood.]]
* FullBoarAction: His Ganon form, which only shows up in stylized storybook pictures telling the game's backstory, but even then, this is noticeable. Puppet Ganon as well, since it's modeled after Ganon.
* GeniusBruiser: Ganondorf is just as cunning and intelligent as he was back in ''Ocarina of Time'', if not more so. He had [[spoiler:cut off the Master Sword's power to repel evil long before Link would find it]], and only reveals it to the young hero when it was nearly too late. In addition to his powerful dark magic, Ganondorf is also a skilled swordsman with fast reflexes and brute strength, as Link finds out in the final battle.
* GoOutWithASmile: Upon realizing that Link delivered the fatal blow, Ganondorf simply smiles and notes the irony of feeling the wind as death approaches. His smile can still be seen when he's turned to stone.
* GrassIsGreener: He claims his desire to conquer Hyrule boiled down to envy. It was lush and prospering, while the desert was harsh and unforgiving.
* GreenEyedMonster: Specifically, his being destined to be the king of a barren desert where the only comfort (if it could be called that) to offer his people was death, before seeing the fertility and peace of Hyrule.
* HonorBeforeReason: A rare villainous example: During the final fight, after being hit by enough Light Arrows, he approaches Tetra, and, instead of simply cutting her down where she stands, puts away his sword and simply backhands her. Also, he seems to have a habit of, whenever knocking down Link, waiting until he gets back up before he resumes his attack or does a finishing blow. This extends to cutscenes, as well, particularly just before the final battle, where Ganondorf outright tells Link that he has no interest in killing him despite having Link at his mercy; all he wants is the Triforce of Courage that Link currently possesses.
* HumanoidAbomination: He ''was'' human (or very close to it) to start with, but after finding the Triforce, he's become something much, ''much'' worse.
* {{Hypocrite}}:
** He uses the gods flooding Hyrule, and in the process seemingly dooming the survivors as a justification for his actions yet he not only never owns up to the fact that he is the reason they did so in the first place, but he is doing nothing to actually help the citizens of the Great Sea. If anything he’s making their lives worse through his army’s presence across the Great Sea and by kidnapping children in a vague hope of finding Zelda.
** During his MotiveRant, Ganondorf claims everything he did, he did for the Gerudo, his people. However, coming from the adult timeline, we know this Ganon [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime never actually did anything helpful for the Gerudo]]. Once he came into power, he became a ruthless tyrant.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Variation: [[spoiler:Ganondorf attempts to do a last-ditch attack on Link, Link parries it, gains enough air, and then does a downward thrust through Ganondorf's head, burying the sword in up to the hilt]].
* IveComeTooFar: Even after Hyrule has been flooded and the Gerudo have gone extinct, Ganondorf refuses to stop hunting for the Triforce, or even settling for just taking over the Great Sea.
* ImpoverishedPatrician: Subtle, but present. He's still technically a King and he owns his own island, but he has no people to rule over and the island is pretty dilapidated and weathered. He lives in what appears to have been a scuttled ship, and his ornate armor has been replaced with black robes. This extends to his own mooks, who make use of run-down and improvised submarines and watchtowers.
* JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope: While this game's depiction of Ganon is the most reasonable and sympathetic of them all, having matured quite a bit from his showing in ''Ocarina of Time'', [[spoiler:when Daphnes steals his wish from the Triforce to ''ensure'' Hyrule stays flooded and that Link, Zelda and everybody else of the Great Sea has a future, he goes mad and attacks the former two just to spite that wish. That said, when Link finally does him in, he regains enough sanity to accept his defeat.]]
* KatanasAreJustBetter: His sword of choice is a katana-style blade.
* KilledOffForReal: Stabbed through the head and TakenForGranite at the end of the game. Direct ''Wind Waker'' sequels have not used him since (with the exception of a brief cameo appearance in the beginning of the first sequel explaining the backstory of the original), so all signs point to this being the case in the "Adult Era" timeline.
* KnightOfCerebus: None of his scenes are played for laughs, and he is shown to be a great threat. Link's first proper encounter with Ganondorf showcases how much of a threat he is by tanking the de-powered Master Sword and effortlessly smacking Link aside and overpowering Tetra as she attempts to fight him. If it weren't for the Rito and Valoo rescuing them, he would've easily killed them both.
* LaughingMad: His reaction to [[spoiler:the waves coming down on Hyrule from Daphnes' wish to the Triforce]].
* LastOfHisKind: Presumably the last of the Gerudo tribe, following the flooding of Hyrule. With his death at the end and the apparent absence of any Gerudo members in ''Phantom Hourglass'' and ''Spirit Tracks'', it's likely that they're extinct.
* LastVillainStand: When [[spoiler:Daphnes wishes on the Triforce for Hyrule to be washed away by the Great Sea and for Link and Tetra to have a future, Ganondorf suffers a VillainousBreakdown and starts gleefully LaughingMad before drawing his swords and engaging Link in a final showdown.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: Same one he always had since ''A Link to the Past''. It is more melancholy and quiet than usual (best heard at Ganon's Tower), reflecting Ganondorf's status as a TragicVillain from the long forgotten era.
* LightningBruiser: Ganondorf's gotten less reliant on hanging back and chucking magic at you or shifting into his MightyGlacier Ganon form in favor of up-close and personal swordfights. He proves to be an astonishingly agile opponent while still being bigger and stronger than Link and [[StoneWall Stone Walling]] all but the most advanced sword attacks.
* MagicKnight: He not only possess powerful magic, but is also unbelievably strong and skilled with a sword. [[DualWielding Or two]].
* ManlyFacialHair: This is the first time he ever sports a beard and fittingly, he's depicted to be an OlderAndWiser villain who is even more dangerous than his clean-shaven appearance in ''Ocarina of Time''. He doesn't even use magic in his final boss fight, just simple swordsmanship for a worthy last fight with Link.
* MarionetteMaster: He summons Puppet Ganon at the end of the game to attack Link.
* MeaninglessVillainVictory: At the very end of the game, he succeeds in [[spoiler:acquiring the complete Triforce, but King Daphnes appears out of nowhere and touches it first, causing his wish to be granted instead of Ganondorf's.]]
* MoralSociopathy: Despite embracing his moniker as the Great King of Evil feared by all, Ganondorf truly does believe that the [[GodIsEvil Golden Goddesses were cruel beings]] who abandoned the people of the Great Sea with false hope, and his actions are therefore morally justified because he's actively trying to restore the world once promised by the gods.
* MotiveDecay: During his speech to Link on his tower that initially he sought to conquer the land of Hyrule to escape from the harsh winds of the Gerudo Desert and it’s implied he wanted to better the lives of his people as well. However, when he found out about the Triforce, his search eventually corrupted his desire for a better life into a lust for power and conquest of the world.
* {{Narcissist}}: While they're not as blatant as in ''Ocarina of Time'' due to him becoming OlderAndWiser, Ganondorf still can't seem to shake his narcissistic traits. He still believes himself to be superior to almost everyone in the Great Sea [[MightMakesRight due to wielding the Triforce of Power]], still [[ItsAllAboutMe believes that he has the right to rule Hyrule]] due to his tragic past, and— most glaringly— [[NeverMyFault refuses to accept responsibility]] for the role he played in Hyrule's destruction.
* NayTheist: He acknowledges the existence of the gods of Hyrule, but only so he can curse them for burying Hyrule under the sea. [[spoiler:Even the Triforce, the thing that Ganondorf desires the most, is not safe from this vengeful mindset as Ganondorf tries to kill Link and Zelda in a last spiteful attempt to deny the relic of the gods from granting King Daphnes' wish.]]
* NeverMyFault: He acknowledges that he and everyone else (specifically Link and Zelda) are trapped in a neverending cycle of reincarnation and conflict over the Triforce that has brought ruin to Hyrule. But he only blame the gods for it and never acknowledges or takes responsibility for the fact that Hyrule was flooded because of him.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Delivers a positively ''brutal'' one to Link on top of Ganon's Tower.
* NoNonsenseNemesis: His defeat in ''Ocarina of Time'' has certainly taught him a few things about heroes in green clothes. Shortly after he breaks free from his prison, he kills the Sages of the Master Sword to render the Blade of Evil's Bane useless. When Link fails to put a dent on him with the powerless Master Sword, Ganondorf tries to kill him immediately. Later on, after Link restores the Master Sword's power and reassembles the Triforce of Courage, Ganondorf does everything he can to avoid a personal confrontation with the Master Sword, using a giant marionette of his Ganon form instead of the real thing and knocking out Link quickly before he has a chance to fight. His only mistake [[spoiler:is his ever present obsession with the Triforce -- and therefore on Link and Zelda -- blinding him to all other factors. This leaves him completely unprepared when Daphnes steals Ganondorf's victory right out from under him by touching the Triforce first and then making his wish. This also costs Ganon earlier on, when Quill, Komali, and the enormous Valoo arrive to rescue Link and Tetra, when he otherwise had them dead to rights]].
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: As befitting of his [[ClassicVillain role as the villain]], Ganondorf stands out a lot. While most characters have large heads and expressive eyes, Ganondorf has a massive body, dwarfing the protagonists, and his most prominent facial features are his large nose and facial hair. [[spoiler:He shares this design with the King of Hyrule, showing them both as relics that do not belong in the present world.]]
* NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist: Downplayed. Ganondorf does alludes to his people, the Gerudo, when discussing about the harsh conditions of the desert country he originated from, implying he did care about them and initially wanted the best for them. However, Ganondorf also admits his envy for Hyrule's green fields and gentle winds was a personal one rather than representing the opinion of the Gerudo people, and as we saw in ''Ocarina of Time'' his [[TheDarkSideWillMakeYouForget desire escalated to world domination]] rather than just taking over Hyrule. After all, being the only Gerudo left in the game, whatever [[MotiveDecay noble intentions he once had are long gone]]. All that's left is obtaining the Triforce and resurrecting the past he once knew.
* NothingPersonal: Despite his usual [[ArchEnemy enmity]] towards Link, Ganondorf actually harbors little resentment towards him this time around, seeing him as a nuisance at worst and a WorthyOpponent at best.
* NothingUpMySleeve: He hides swords in his oversized kimono sleeves.
* OffscreenVillainy: It's all but stated that he completely wiped out whatever was on the Forsaken Fortress and Greatfish Isle when he arrived.
* OlderAndWiser: His depiction here, having had a lot of time to think about things. He still wants to claim the Triforce and take over Hyrule, but he's become more philosophical and explains his original motives.
* OlderThanTheyLook: This Ganon appears to be an old man, frustrated by his inability to acquire the Triforce in ''Ocarina of Time''. He and the King have been locked in combat over the fate of the frozen Hyrule.
* OneWingedAngel: Surprisingly [[AvertedTrope averted]], as he doesn't transform into Ganon in this game. The one time it looks like he does, it's actually a puppet in his place.
* PaintingTheMedium: Ganondorf's powers break the rules/code of the gameplay.
** When he curses the Great Sea, his theme music overrides the background music while Link is sailing.
** It is always night when you visit Forsaken Fortress the first two times. Daylight only comes when Ganondorf leaves the fortress.
** The player can never use the [[StatOVision Hero's Charm]] on Ganondorf.
* PetTheDog: Although he brutally pulverizes Link to get the Triforce of Courage at the story's climax, Ganondorf ''spares'' the young hero's life during the whole procedure. There is no reason given other than he didn't have to kill Link to reassemble the Triforce.
* PhysicalGod: The Triforce of Power he holds renders him immortal, [[spoiler:and when you pull the depowered Master Sword from its pedestal, [[NiceJobBreakingItHero you give him back his near-omnipotent magical powers]]]].
* PigMan: His Ganon form is hinted at, but never shown. Many ancient texts about Hyrule detail the King of Evil as a humanoid pig-like creature, but he always remains as a Gerudo in-game and the closest thing to Ganon in this game is Puppet Ganon.
* {{Pirate}}: With Hyrule underwater, Ganon has become a pirate warlord, sending his minions and the Helmaroc King out to terrorize the seas. He's a darker take on the "Rogue" type, having genuine ideals and a vision despite his evil actions.
* PureIsNotGood: Unlike how he was in ''Ocarina of Time'', Ganondorf displays all three qualities that embody the Triforce; power, wisdom, and courage. Despite his overwhelming wish to get the Triforce back, he's become philosophical enough to consider the cost of his actions as well as what motivated him in the first place, and has enough confidence to fight Link without using magic and face down Valoo as the dragon prepares to burn him. He still plans on using the Triforce to bring back Hyrule without a thought as to what that would do to the Great Sea.
* PsychologicalProjection: He condemns the gods for flooding Hyrule and dooming the survivors habitants yet his forces are causing more harm to the citizens of the Great Sea (who seem to be doing just fine) than the fact Hyrule is flooded. He also never takes responsibility for causing the flood in the first place.
* RageAgainstTheHeavens: "YOUR GODS DESTROYED YOU!" These are the words of a bitter man who realizes the ruination of the world resulting from the cycle of good vs evil. For Ganondorf, he curses the gods for flooding Hyrule and believes their promises of restoring the land are lies. His hatred originates from the fact he suffered in the desert while people in Hyrule prosper. Of course he never acknowledges that he is the reason Hyrule was destroyed or [[PsychologicalProjection that he is currently harming the lives of the Great Sea’s inhabitants more than the gods are]].
* RasputinianDeath: He's come back from the dead or from being sealed away numerous times throughout the series, so they resorted to this to prove he was DeaderThanDead. [[spoiler:He's stabbed through the head, TakenForGranite, the tower you fought him on collapses, and the ocean rushes in to bury him underneath miles of water]]. It's not clear ''which'' step actually kept him from coming back, but it seems to have managed to do so.
* SealedEvilInACan: He broke free from the seal of the Seven Sages from ''Ocarina of Time'' long ago, only to be sealed again when the Golden Goddesses flooded the world [[spoiler:and froze Hyrule in a time stasis]]. Centuries later, Ganondorf manages to escape to surface though most of his army still remain sealed by the Master Sword. [[spoiler:They too eventually escape when [[NiceJobBreakingItHero Link pulls the Master Sword out from its pedestal]].]]
* SoreLoser: After King Daphnes renders [[AllForNothing all of his efforts for nothing]] by wishing for Hyrule to be destroyed, he attempts to kill Link and Zelda so they wouldn’t get to live to create a new world on the surface. He does snap out of it upon his death, which he takes in stride.
* TakenForGranite: After he's killed via sword to the head, he turns to stone before being flooded along with Hyrule for good measure.
* TakingYouWithMe: The final boss fight is one last spiteful attempt to kill Link and Zelda before he ''[[spoiler:drowns with Hyrule]]''.
* TragicVillain: Considered by many to be the most sympathetic portrayal of Ganondorf in the series. The quote above reveals that he originally wanted a better life for himself and his people, but became consumed by power and lost sight of that, turning into the great evil that would ironically cause Hyrule's destruction (his people included), which has taken a toll on his mental health as he desperately seeks to undo this outcome and reclaim the past by any means necessary.
* VillainousBreakdown: An epic one right before the final battle. [[spoiler:After seeing Triforce and his wish being stolen by King Daphnes (and said wish is to permanently drown Hyrule, the opposite of Ganondorf's goal), Ganondorf could do nothing more than laugh maniacally as his dreams literally come crashing down. It's also notable because, while he was surprisingly polite and merciful toward Link and Tetra up until that point, once his life's aim is destroyed, all bets are off and he determines to make sure they both die with him and his dreams.]]
* VillainHasAPoint: While [[NeverMyFault he doesn't take responsibility]] for indirectly causing the Great Flood, Ganondorf isn't completely wrong that the long-term divine plan to restore Hyrule to its former glory is a cruel joke. He points out that the current generation are scattered with little to no memory of the old kingdom, and the Great Sea is deterimental for the inhabitants, with vast distances between the islands and no fish to catch. He concludes that the gods had forsaken their people to their inevitable doom. [[spoiler:After the final battle, the King of Hyrule admits that Ganondorf may have a point, which is why he wishes Hyrule to be washed away so that Link and Tetra can choose their own path freed from the sins of the old generation.]]
* VocalDissonance: It can be a little surprising to listen to Ganondorf with a raspier, slightly higher-pitched voice compared to his ''Ocarina of Time'' counterpart. Though this is maybe {{justified|Trope}} given the timeskip between both games.
* WickedCultured: He has a cultural flair to his evilness. Dressed in regal robes and retaining his human form for the entire duration of the game, he comes off as unusually civilized compared to his beastly and crude army. Additionally, his speeches contain a poetic nature, especially when he compares Hyrule and the Gerudo Desert through the touch of their winds. This is more explicit with the Japanese version, where his monologue style draws from classical poetry and archaic Japanese from the 19th century.
* WorthyOpponent: Ganondorf bears little personal malice against Link and actually looks forward to their next confrontation.
* WouldHitAGirl: Zigzagged. When Zelda starts attacking him with the Light Arrows, Ganondorf backhands her into unconsciousness--but makes sure to sheathe his sword before he does so, when by far the easier and more convenient option would be to simply kill her. This even helps to do him in, as Zelda returns to consciousness not long after near the end of the fight.
* WouldntHurtAChild: Zigzagged. As Link and Tetra can testify, [[WouldHurtAChild he's not above attacking children]] to get what he wants. But in an interesting show of chivalry, Ganondorf takes pains to avoid hurting Tetra more than necessary in order to [[spoiler:take her Triforce]]. Although he does hit her in the final battle, he carefully puts away his swords first, and avoids her entirely for most of the fight. [[spoiler:Similarly, when he takes the Triforce of Courage, he punches Link and tells him that he didn't want to kill him]]. However, after one VillainousBreakdown, his endgame for the final fight is to take Link and Tetra down with him [[spoiler:as Hyrule is being washed away]].
* XanatosGambit: The Master Sword was actually [[spoiler:sealing his powers away (well, most of them, anyway)]]. By taking it from the pedestal, Link [[spoiler:granted him access to his full powers]]. [[MortonsFork But if he didn't do it, there wouldn't be any way to defeat him.]]

Valoo's personal attendant, who helps Link enter Dragon Roost Cavern when the Sky Spirit becomes beset by extreme anger. She is kind and sincere, but since her teacher--Komali's grandmother--passed away before she could complete her training, she lacks confidence in her abilities.
----
* TheChosenOne: [[spoiler:She's the descendant of the Earth Sage [[FishPerson Laruto]], and therefore destined to take her place.]]
* DubNameChange: She's called Famirè in Italian.
* GuestStarPartyMember: She joins Link in [[spoiler:the Earth Temple dungeon.]]
* HarpOfFemininity: Medli plays a harp, which is [[spoiler:an heirloom of the female Zora Sage, Laruto]].
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: She seems to have doubt in her abilities, but never lets this stop her from doing what she believes in.
* ImpliedLoveInterest: For Komali.
* {{Irony}}: Despite being a bird person and therefore a creature of the air, she's [[spoiler:the Sage of Earth.]]
* LittleBitBeastly: Besides her beak nose, bird-like lower legs and feet and her arms that can turn into feathery wings, she can quite easily pass for an average Hylian girl.
* MagicMusic: The harp she plays is [[spoiler:essential to entering and exploring the Earth Temple and restoring power to the Master Sword]].
* MarriedToTheJob: If you try showing her a Golden Feather, which are quite popular among female Rito, she'll acknowledge her interest in it but say that as an attendant, mastering her harp is more important to her.
* MeaningfulName: Her name is likely derived from "medley" or "melody", and also sounds similar to [[spoiler:"medini", the Sanskrit word for "earth"]].
* PeoplePuppets: [[spoiler:When inside the Earth Temple,]] Link can use the Command Melody to control her in order to fly around and redirect light beams using her harp.
* VideoGameCrueltyPotential:
** There's nothing stopping you from throwing her face-first into a wall. She gets CirclingBirdies and [[NonSequiturThud speaks nonsensically]] if you do it;
--->'''Medli''': I'm... I'm ''fiiiine!'' [[BlatantLies That... didn't really hurt]]. What was I saying? Oh yeah! Once... once more! With the wind! Toss away, please!\

** Furthermore, the easiest, and safest, way to defeat the Floormaster enemies is to throw her at them and then pelt them with arrows while they reach for her.
* VideoGameFlight: When Link is controlling her, Medli can only fly for a short while before she tires out; though she moves horizontally far better than Makar, and can airlift Link briefly to cross large gaps together.
* WiseBeyondHerYears: In a stark contrast with Komali when he's introduced, Medli is shown to be very mature for her age.

A young and clumsy Korok maestro who performs every year for his people's seed-spreading ceremony. He is also somewhat mischievous, which lands him in trouble when he becomes lost in the Forbidden Woods, leading Link to go and rescue him.
----
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: Seems to be this amongst the Koroks; he's even shorter than the rest of them, has a much higher voice, and remains in the Forest Haven with the Deku Tree while most of the others depart to plant new forests.
* ButThouMust: Unlike Medli, [[spoiler:Makar is scripted to be captured by a Floormaster at one point inside the Wind Temple, and you're forced to continue on your own until you find the Hookshot you need to rescue him]].
* TheChosenOne: [[spoiler:He's a descendant of the Wind Sage Fado — [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime not that one]] — and has to take his place.]]
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Not necessarily him, but his model is the only one of the Koroks' that isn't reused for their reappearance in ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild Breath of the Wild]]''. He does, however, have an island near the Lost Woods named after him, the Korok Forest theme is based off of a song he practiced on his violin, and the Korok Mask is inspired by his own leaf mask.
* CraniumRide: Makar quite amusingly sits on the King of Red Lions' head when en-route to [[spoiler:the Wind Temple]].
* DistressedDude: The entire reason Link has to enter the Forbidden Woods is to rescue him. [[spoiler:Then in the Wind Temple, Makar gets unavoidably captured by a Floormaster, meaning Link has to rescue him again at least once.]]
* DubNameChange: He's called Dumoria in French, Makorus in German, Makore in Spanish, and Macore in Italian.
* FearlessFool: His figurine describes him as being quite frivolous and carefree, which is no doubt what made him bold enough to fly so near to the Forbidden Woods. Thankfully, he promises to be more careful once Link rescues him from inside.
* GuestStarPartyMember: He joins Link in [[spoiler:exploring the Wind Temple.]]
* GreenThumb: He can plant seeds that instantly grow into small trees in the right soil. This ability is necessary to complete one of the game's dungeons, due to how they can be grappled on to with the [[GrapplingHookPistol Hookshot.]]
* {{Irony}}: Despite being a tree person and therefore a creature of the earth, he's [[spoiler:the Sage of Wind.]]
* MagicMusic: The music he plays on his violin is integral to the Korok Ceremony where the Deku Tree sprouts new seeds each year. [[spoiler:Later on, he plays the Wind God's Aria to help you explore the Wind Temple and repower the Master Sword.]]
* MeaningfulName: His name is likely derived from "Makoré", a type of wood, [[spoiler:and also sounds similar to "makani", the Hawaiian word for "wind".]]
* MickeyMousing: Much like his Korok brethren, Makar makes wooden windchime-like clicking noises as he walks around.
* NotQuiteFlight: He and the rest of the Koroks "fly" by hovering around with leaves.
* PeoplePuppets: The Command Melody allows Link to control him.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: Between his short, pudgy wooden body and the high-pitched warbles through which he speaks, it's only natural.
* SwallowedWhole: He's gobbled down by Kalle Demos just after Link arrives to save him. Fortunately, he's released unharmed once the boss is defeated.
* VideoGameCrueltyPotential: One puzzle involves moving him among the sliding razor traps frequently found in the series. It's kind of amusing how much of a beating he takes.
* VideoGameFlight: Like Medli, he can only fly for a short amount of time when Link is controlling him. Makar can't carry Link across gaps like Medli can due to how small he is: but he can fly both longer and a far greater vertical height than her, making him great for exploring and scouting ahead.

!!Tetra's Pirates

[[folder:In General]]
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: Niko claims that his rope-swinging challenge is a test all new pirates are subjected to, and it’s implied at least some of the current crew have undergone it before. However, a portrait seen in Hyrule Castle strongly hints that all six crew members have been serving under Tetra’s family since before they even became pirates.
* JollyRoger: Their ship flies the Jolly Roger, signifying they’re being pirates. The ship's main mast flag also has the imagery of cutlasses crossed, emphasizing the point.
* LegacyOfService: The pirates are all descended from retainers of the Hyrulean Royal Family, as shown by a portrait within the sunken Hyrule Castle. Later on, Gonzo's descendant Alfonzo takes up the role of a royal guard before retiring as a train engineer, while Minister Potho in ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheMinishCap The Minish Cap]]'' is implied to be Mako's ancestor.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: The pirates manage to hit the Helmaroc King with their catapult, but that causes the monster to drop Tetra in the Forest of Fairies. Link has to go there to save her.
* ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything: Zigzagged, they're quite willing to steal and crossing them is a bad idea, as the Bomb Shop owner learns, but they're not particularly malicious and don't go out of their way to hurt people.
* UndyingLoyalty: They're all completely loyal to Tetra, and before her, her mother.

Apparently Tetra's first mate and also the member most dedicated to her. He shows an initial dislike of Link, [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold though it wears off quicker than he'd willingly admit]], claiming to have tricked a postman worried about him into giving him information about the whereabouts of a treasure when, really, he was just as worried about the little guy.
----
* TheBigGuy: The tallest guy in the crew, with the personality to match.
* GentleGiant: Despite his rather abrasive personality, he's never seen actually hurting anyone. This is implied when the pirates are at Windfall Island: Gonzo claims he pretended to be worried about Link in order to trick Quill (his worries were genuine). Aryll thinks this way about him as well.
* IdenticalGrandson: Alfonzo from ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSpiritTracks Spirit Tracks]]'' is his descendant and looks absolutely identical to him, except for his clothes. Their personalities, however, vary ''slightly''.
* IMeantToDoThat: Gonzo is implied to be genuinely worried for Link and to have voiced this concern to Quill in order to convince him to reveal the location of Nayru's Pearl to the pirates so they could help the boy, but it is misinterpreted by Mako as a quick-witted emotional facade so that Quill would spill the beans on said valuable pearl. Gonzo quickly boasts that this was his intention all along.
* TheLancer: To Tetra, as her apparent first mate.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Despite his unfriendly behavior to Link aboard the ship, he is very caring towards Tetra, scaling Outset Island to get to the forest that she fell into at the start of the game and expressing great relief when he finds her. It turns out that his animosity towards Link is merely a tough facade too, as he asks Tetra what about Link (who he doesn't even know at the time) when she commands her first mate to leave the forest with her, and later on expresses concern about him to Quill. Aryll claims in one of her letters that underneath all his muscles, Gonzo is just a big softy.
* ManlyTears: Seems to shed TearsOfJoy upon finding Tetra safe and sound after being taken by the Helmaroc King, and according to his figurine he is very emotional.
* TattooedCrook: He's a pirate and has a distinctive swirl tattoo on his chest.
* VerbalTic: He tends to end his sentences with "yeah?"

* DubNameChange: He's called Naggi in French, Narzo in German, Agor in Italian, and Nati in Spanish.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: Not quite enough to pass for a girl, but has a definite effeminate flare. Even moreso in the painting at Hyrule Castle, in which his ancestor appears to be a woman.
* RealMenWearPink: He's actually quite good at sewing and embroidery.
* TheReliableOne: He's the only pirate Tetra trusts to guard her room.

* CarpetOfVirility: Senza is a tall, muscular man with copious chest hair.
* ConMan: [[InformedAbility According to his figurine]], Senza is mild-mannered but his persuavsive skills are unmatched amongst Tetra's pirates.
* DubNameChange: He's called Seneka in the original Japanese version.
* InformedAbility: His status as a ConMan is mentioned, but never manifests outside of him [[MundaneUtility being an engaging storyteller.]]
* TheStoryteller: In a letter she sends to Link about her time with the crew, Aryll notes that he tells cool stories when the mood strikes him.

* BookSafe: According to his figurine, he keeps a dagger in his book.
* DubNameChange: He's called Mokko in the original Japanese, and Maco in Spanish.
* ShipperOnDeck: He jokingly suggests to Gonzo that if he and Tetra married, their child would be the best pirate of the seas. Gonzo is embarrassed by Mako's words and tries ridiculing him to Tetra over it.
* TheSmartGuy: He's called the "brains of the ship", and the "king of invention" according to his figurine.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: The only member of the crew with glasses, and the trait that makes him most resemble E. Gadd.

The lowest-ranked of Tetra's pirates, Niko is overjoyed when Link joins the crew, because now he at least outranks ''somebody.'' He narrates the opening of ''Phantom Hourglass'' with his paper cut-outs, and is later seen doing the same in ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSpiritTracks Spirit Tracks]].'' He appears in that game as an old man, presumably the last survivor of the founding generation of new Hyrule.
----
* BookEnds: He makes paper cutouts for both the opening and closing sequences of ''Phantom Hourglass.''
* ButtMonkey: He's the lowest-ranked pirate in the crew, and often gets the short end of the stick. For example, he is required to scrub the pirates' dirty underwear, and also has to guard their loot while the rest of them stuff their faces on Windfall Island.
* DrillSergeantNasty: He tries to be this, but fails.
* EpicFail: He hints at having needed a year to pass the relatively simple platform game he puts Link through.
* MistreatmentInducedBetrayal: His higher-ranked crew members leave him to guard the ship during their layover on Windfall Island. He returns the favor by giving Link the chance to make off with the bombs they stole, thereby allowing Link to reach Jabun before the pirates can.
* SmallNameBigEgo: When Link joins the crew, he's so happy to finally outrank someone that his ego increases tenfold, forgetting that he himself remains almost as low-ranked as ever.
* TrainingFromHell: What he thinks he's putting Link through in ''The Wind Waker.'' He's a bit bitter when Link actually passes his tests.
* VideoGameCrueltyPotential: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] with the test he makes you take to get the bomb bag. He locks himself behind a grate in the room with the treasure, and you're supposed to press a button that will keep it open on a timer and get over there. You ''can'' just turn around and leave the ship with him still in there, but he doesn't seem bothered by it and you'll eventually have to come back and pass his test to progress through the game [[GoodBadBugs fairly.]] [[DoubleSubversion There's nothing to stop you from re-closing it on your way back out, however.]]

Link's beloved little sister. She has a similar personality to Malon from ''Ocarina of Time'' and is always surrounded by seagulls, which is probably a nod to Marin from ''Link's Awakening''. She is kidnapped along with several other Hylian girls at the beginning of ''The Wind Waker,'' setting Link off on his quest.
----
* AccidentalKidnapping: The Helmaroc King mistakes her for Zelda and kidnaps her, triggering Link's adventure.
* AnimalMotif: Seagulls. She loves to play with the gulls and they always follow her around, even when she's locked up in the Forsaken Fortress. She even has little seagull paintings on her telescope.
* BigBrotherWorship: She adores Link so much that she lends him her telescope during his birthday (Link preserves it after she is captured).
* CheerfulChild: She always has a positive attitude.
* TheCutie: Adorable and energetic.
* DamselInDistress: She is mistaken for Zelda in the beginning of the game and kidnapped. Link was ''not'' pleased.
* DubNameChange: Arielle in French and Abril in Spanish.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: She's always surrounded by seagulls. It even serves as a minor plot point, as Link and Tetra are able to figure out which part of the Forsaken Fortress she's being kept in by the suspicious gathering of seagulls near a window.
* GenkiGirl: She has a cheerful and energetic attitude.
* GirlishPigtails: She has a pair of short pigtails.
* {{Leitmotif}}: A short melody, that is part of all [=BGMs=] related to her, most prominently The Outset Island theme and the music that plays during her kidnapping scene.
* ParentalAbandonment: That's your fate when you're the sister of Link.
* PutOnABus: Or rather a pirate ship. After Link finally rescues her, she’s taken in by Tetra’s pirates to be returned to Outset and doesn’t appear again until the game’s epilogue.
* RaisedByGrandparents: The only elder relative she and Link have by the start of the game is their grandma.
* RecurringElement: WordOfGod confirms that during development her name was Maryll, making an even stronger connection between her and Marin/Malon, as the FriendToAllLivingThings simple girl that is close to Link. Her association with seagulls and hibiscus flowers makes her even more similar to the original Marin than the various Malon farm girls.
* SkeletonsInTheCoatCloset: The pirates give her a hot pink dress with skulls on it.

->''"Time certainly flies….I can’t believe you’re already old enough to wear these clothes."''

Link and Aryll's grandmother, who takes care of them at Outset Island.
----
* BreakTheCutie: Seeing her granddaughter get kidnapped and her grandson leave on a deathly dangerous quest to save her and the world has caused this poor kind old lady to fall into a DeepSleep. Fortunately, she gets over it after Link cures her.
* DeepSleep: When Link returns to Outset Island, he finds out she's fallen into one of these due to her intense worry for her grandchildren. He is able to wake her up with a little help from a fairy.
* GrannyClassic: Old, warm, and incredibly kind and caring.
* InformedAttribute: According to her figurine, she has a mischievous streak and enjoys playing the occasional prank on Link. This is never seen in-game, unless you interpret her making Link wear the Hero's Clothes as a joke.
* {{Leitmotif}}: A rather sad song that plays after she finds out Aryll's been kidnapped, and also when Link returns home and she's sick from worry for her grandchildren.
* MiniatureSeniorCitizens: She's as short as her granddaughter, and Link is even slightly taller than her.
* SupremeChef: Her Elixir Soup is on par with a Blue Potion, as it can restore Link's health and magic power, with an added bonus of doubling his attack strength. No surprise that it's stated to be her grandchildren's favorite.
* UnnamedParent: She's only known as Grandma or Link's Grandma. Even the Nintendo Gallery, which gives nearly every non-enemy NPC figurine individual names, has her figurine simply labeled Link's Grandma.

[[folder:Orca]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/816px_orca.png]]

An aged former swordsman who lives on Outset Island. Mentors Link in the ways of swordplay. Shares a split-level home with his brother Sturgeon.
----
* AnimalThemeNaming: Named after the Orca aka Killer Whale.
* BigLittleBrother: Orca is the younger of the two brothers, but he's much taller than Sturgeon.
* CoolOldGuy: A badass old warrior, and an overall cool guy.
* DubNameChange: Most versions of his name are some variation of "The [Adjective] Orca", but he's called Sensei Ken in Italian.
* JerkJock: Geriatric version. Spends all his non-Link-mentoring time honing his physique, repeatedly breaks his brother's possessions by accident during his rough training and doesn't say sorry, and considers his studious brother a weak embarrassment for giving up the sword.
* TheMentor: Teaches Link the ways of the sword.
* OcularGushers: Lets them flow once Link learns the Hurricane Spin. His life's ambition was to find a student capable of learning it, and to pass it on.
* RetiredBadass: Has a Knight's Crest on a shelf. At some point in his life, he defeated a [[EliteMook Darknut]]. In the present day, despite his physical condition, he can ably wield a spear in training bouts.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: He does not wear a shirt at all unlike his brother, representing his continued dedication to sword fighting.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: He and Sturgeon used to get along during their youth as swordsmen, searching for the Knight's Crests to master [[SpinAttack Hurricane Spin technique]]. But as they grew older, Sturgeon decided to spend his days reading while Orca still practices fighting. It caused a rift between the two brothers, with Orca referring to his older brother as a "high-strung" recluse who locks himself in his room to study all day. It even extends to their house, as Orca's half is very barebones, has a dirt floor, several weapons and bones on the walls, and is made of shanty metal, whereas Sturgeon's is made of a neat wood, has more traditional house decorations as well as instructional papers on the walls, and a sea-view window.

[[folder:Sturgeon]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/682px_tww_sturgeon.png]]

Orca's brother, and also an aged former swordsman. Unlike Orca, Sturgeon has abandoned swordfighting entirely and become an intellectual.
----
* AloofBigBrother: He's the older brother of Orca and he treats his younger sibling with disdain, believing him to be a far less intelligent and "useless hooligan" that would lead Link astray.
* AnimalThemeNaming: Named after the long-lived, fresh water Sturgeon fish.
* {{Bookworm}}: After putting down the sword, he started picking up books. A ''lot'' of them, in fact, much to his brother's chagrin.
* DubNameChange: He's called the Blue Old Man in the original Japanese, and further renamed Adhoc in French, Daddy Orco in German, Professor Sofo in Italian, and Old Man Indigo in Spanish.
* HighPressureEmotion: Whenever Orca hits the wall and breaks his shelves and pots.
* MrExposition: He will give helpful control tips such as L-targeting, and his books contain information regarding Hearts, Save Feature, and Area Maps.
* MyBrainIsBig: His cranium is roughly 70% of his overall mass.
* RetiredBadass: An InformedAttribute. Sturgeon has no mementos from his years as a swordfighter, and displays no outward signs of physical prowess.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: He and Orca used to get along during their youth as swordsmen, searching for the Knight's Crests to master [[SpinAttack Hurricane Spin technique]]. But as they grew older, Sturgeon decided to spend his days reading while Orca still practice fighting. It caused a rift between the two brothers, with Sturgeon living in a room upstairs away from Orca's training ground and referring to his younger brother as a "hooligan."

->'''Voiced by:''' Miho Yamada (''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaFourSwordsAdventures Four Swords +]]'', Navi Trackers mode)

A young Hylian woman who lives on Outset Island, and Sturgeon and Orca's granddaughter and grand-niece respectively.
----
* TheCameo: She appears as an unlockable host for Navi Trackers, a game mode that was only available in Japanese and Korean versions of ''Four Swords Adventures''.
* PromotionToParent: According to her figurine, she initially grew up and lived in Windfall Island, but then grew concerned about the health of her grandfather, Sturgeon. She then moved to Outset Island to take care of him.
* VideoGameCrueltyPotential: You can break the jars she's carrying, and she becomes quite mortified with you for doing so.
* VideoGameCrueltyPunishment: She will also angrily charge you 10 rupees for breaking her jar if you dare talk to her afterwards.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mesa]]
[[quoteright:120:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mesa_tww.png]]
A hard worker who gets accused of being a slacker due to working at his own pace.
----
* TheAloner: If only because he's the only resident of the western island of Outset. His personality is pretty friendly, though.
* DubNameChange: He's Masao in Japanese, and further renamed André in French, Pinin in Italian, and Pablo in Spanish.
* HopelessSuitor: He's currently looking for a wife, but evidently hasn't had much success.
* TheSlacker: His figurine outright calls him this. He tends to shirk cutting the grass in front of his house and sleeps in the whole day. According to him, it's because he's terrified of the monsters now stalking Outset Island and he can't sleep at night, thus leading him to sleep in the whole day.
* VideoGameCrueltyPotential: A secret room behind his bed contains a chest with 20 rupees. Even if he's inside the house, he won't stop you from taking it, but you're still basically [[KleptomaniacHero committing burglary]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Abe]]
[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/abe_tww.png]]
A family man and pig wrangler.
----
* ChickMagnet: In his youth, he was quite popular with the ladies, except the one he was actually interested in. He eventually won her over.
* DubNameChange: He's Abry in the original, and further renamed Abel in French, Abraham in German and Spanish, and Mr. Giuan in Italian.
* HotGuyUglyWife: Unlike Rose, Abe is quite fit and healthy-looking for a man of his age.
* MessyPig: His artwork depicts him holding a pig, and early on you see him trying to catch a wild one to keep as a family pet. He teaches Link how to catch them.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: Both his name and appearance seem to be based on UsefulNotes/AbrahamLincoln.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Rose]]
[[quoteright:170:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rose_tww.png]]
Abe's wife and fellow pig-wrangler.
----
* BadLiar: A variation; it's not that she's a bad liar per se (at least not from what is seen of her), but according to her figurine, she does have a bad habit of trying to laugh her way out of a lie, which gives it away.
* EatTheDog: If Link revisits her, it's all but stated that she cooked all but one of her pigs for food.
* {{Gonk}}: While you can still see how ladies had an interest in her husband, she bears more of a resemblance to the [[AnimalMotif pigs they wrangle]] at this point.
* HotGuyUglyWife: Unlike Abe, Rose is overweight and did not age quite as well.
* MessyPig: You can catch three pigs for her which she intends to keep as pets, but when you return to Outset Island there is only one pig (which is named after you) in the pen and it's gotten very big. It's implied that the other two were cooked and eaten, but [[CharacterTics she denies it and laughs it off]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Joel & Zill]]
Abe and Rose's sons, they're young and curious.
----
* DubNameChange: They're Lukino and Mukino in Italian, Joselito and Juanito in European Spanish, and Turito & Gripín in American Spanish.
* GenerationXerox: According to Joel's figurine, they both resemble their father. It's not hard to imagine this being the case when they get older.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: As his figurine states, Zill "can strike a nerve without realizing it". It shows if you talk to him after returning to Outset Island, where he'll bluntly but innocently ask you if you've rescued Aryll yet, to his brother and mother's shock and embarrassment.
* SnotBubble: Zill always has one big booger dangling from his nose, and apparently does it on purpose.
* ThoseTwoGuys: They're rarely seen too far from each other.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jabun]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/600px_tww_jabun.png]]

A giant fish and the Water Spirit. He is the guardian of one of the three pearls, Nayru's Pearl.
----
* FreeSamplePlotCoupon: Zig-zagged. Link goes through plenty of trouble to track Jabun down and gain access to the cave where he's hiding, but as Jabun doesn't know any of that and is without a convenient dungeon to test him with, he ultimately leaves it to the Tower of the Gods to verify that Link's courage is true, turning over Nayru's Pearl so that it can lead him there.
* HeroWorshipper: The non-comic relief variety. He has deep respect and reverence for the Hero of Time.[[note]]Obviously, as that courageous boy saved his probable ancestor's life from one of Ganondorf's curses.[[/note]]
* HowTheMightyHaveFallen: Thanks to Ganondorf, he's gone from being the proud guardian of Greatfish Isle, to a homeless deity now hiding in a cave.
* JerkassGods: He abandoned Greatfish Isle and its occupants in order to save himself from Ganondorf's attack and, as Tetra alludes to, went into hiding on a similarly populated island whose residents were likewise put in great danger.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: The reason why he's skeptical of The Hero of Winds is because he cares about Hyrule and its people's future.
* LegacyCharacter: ''Hyrule Historia'' implies him to be a descendant of Lord Jabu-Jabu, patron of the Zoras in ''Ocarina of Time''.
* OnlyTheWorthyMayPass: Averted. While he is skeptical of handing over his pearl to Link, the King of Red Lions successfully convinces him of your heroic destiny, and he just hands over the pearl.
* RealityHasNoSubtitles: Jabun can only speak in ancient Hylian, which is complete gibberish to Link's ears. [[spoiler:This conveniently allows Jabun to freely refer the King of Red Lions as "Hyrule King" and ask the possible whereabouts of Princess Zelda, both of which are major twists in the story]]. The NewGamePlus translates it for the players who already beat the game.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Once he hands over Nayru's Pearl, he dives beneath the waters of his cavern and is never seen again.

A spoiled rich girl who lives on Windfall Island, she is captured and imprisoned along with Aryll and Maggie. Tetra's crew eventually bring her home, but not before demanding an extremely hefty reward. Afterwards, she can be seen in rags working for Zunari, and a sidequest involves Link stalking her to reveal her as the burglar stealing from Zunari.
----
* BreakTheHaughty: She started as a snotty rich girl, then she was kidnapped and her father had to give up the family's fortune to get her back. Moreover, Maggie is the one who moves into her old home. You can tell how hard being reduced to a poor girl in rags was to her.
* DamselInDistress: She is one of three girls mistaken for Princess Zelda and taken by the Helmaroc King.
* DubNameChange: She's Mool in Japanese, and renamed Felizitas in German and Felicitas in Spanish.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: Initially, her hair is worn up in a fittingly elaborate updo to go along with her fancy dress. After being rescued, her hair is down and rather disheveled along with the rags she now wears to indicate how rough the transition to poverty has been on her.
* FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: She comes to realize, with some minimal prodding from Link, that the misfortune her life has dealt to her doesn't excuse or justify her nearly resorting to thievery.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Seems to be this when you get her to confess.
* NPCAmnesia: Despite seeing Link attempt to rescue her twice from the Forsaken Fortress, and him actually succeeding the second time, she doesn't seem to remember him once she's returned to Windfall and treats him as if he were a total stranger. She even recounts the details of her kidnapping as though Link doesn't already know them.
* PauperPatches: After losing her money, she is shown wearing an ugly, patched-up dress.
* PimpedOutDress: Wears this when you first see her at Forsaken Fortress.
* PrincessInRags: After Link and Tetra save her, she loses all her money and turns into this. She initially hates it, but later matures as she decides to suck it in and work hard and honestly.
* SelfMadeWoman: She's on her way to being this after being left with nothing upon her return home. Though she slips up, she definitely handles the switch to poverty more ''proactively'' than her father.
* ShipTease: [[DialogueTree One of the answers]] Link can tell her when she asks why he won't let her go is that he likes her. This causes her to run off.
* SpoiledBrat: Subverted. She sets it up well, but there's nothing to indicate that she was overtly mean when she was well-off, just that she's had a hard time dealing with having so little money.
* StealthBasedMission: Following her initiates one of these.
* TookALevelInKindness: After Link talks her out of stealing Zunari's money, Mila humbles herself, and decides to work hard to earn her money back.
* {{Tsundere}}: Many words she speaks to you will consist of assuring you that whatever's happening isn't what it looks like, and that she is ''not'' a sappy or cheesy person.

The richest man on Windfall Island at the start of the game. When his daughter is kidnapped, he pays his fortune and then some on various ventures for her safe return.
----
* CrackOhMyBack: He seems to consider taking a leaf out of Mila's book and getting a job... before his back pain [[BlatantLies acts up suddenly]].
* GoodParents: He isn't swindled out of his money or anything -- he willingly pays it all desperately trying to get his daughter retrieved. Despite ending up in poverty, he and Mila take to the change much better than a certain other parent...
* OrnamentalWeapon: He wears a sword in his earlier appearances, but he's too old to make use of it.
* RichesToRags: He pays his total fortune to Tetra's crew and others in exchange for finding and rescuing his daughter. While he doesn't like being poor, he is elated with her safe return.

Another one of the girls kidnapped along with Aryll. You can find her father begging for someone to go find her when you first visit Windfall Island. Unlike Mila, she starts off pretty poor.
----
* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: She falls in love with a Moblin.
* AnimalMotifs: Rabbits. She wears a headdress that looks like rabbit ears, and her letter to Moe is sealed with a rabbit's likeness.
* DamselInDistress: She is one of three girls mistaken for Princess Zelda and taken by the Helmaroc King.
* DubNameChange: She's Dolores in German and Spanish.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: She fails to consider that even if there was an exception to the AlwaysChaoticEvil nature of the Moblins, it would be near-suicidal to meet with a Moblin who wrote that he wanted to eat her.
* INeverGotAnyLetters: She's upset that her love letters never ellicit a response, and is unaware that her father is refusing them from the postman. Helping the postman get one to her earns Link a Piece of Heart.
* InformedFlaw: She's referred to by Mila as a "slob", but apart from her [[AllGirlsWantBadBoys interest in men]], she isn't made out to be anything but a decent person.
* InterspeciesRomance: She seems to have fallen in love with one of the Moblins in the Forsaken Fortress. He even responds to her love letter, though his exact wording ("I like you so much I want to eat you for dinner!") raises some questions on how much he reciprocates her feelings.
* PauperPatches: Before becoming rich, she's wearing a patched up dress.
* PimpedOutDress: Wears one after being rescued.
* RagsToRiches: She brings back a load of treasure from the Forsaken Fortress after being rescued, making her and her father filthy rich.

[[folder:Maggie's Father]]
[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/maggie_father.png]]

Introduced as a poor man begging for his daughter's safe return, his life turns around when Maggie returns to him midway through the game.
----
* AbusiveParents: {{Downplayed|Trope}} but it’s implied that he only cares about Maggie’s safety so he can sponge off the money she makes.
* FantasticRacism: He refuses a letter delivery (from a [[AlwaysChaoticEvil Moblin]] but still) and kicks the delivery man out of his house just for being a Rito.
* HateSink: He repeatedly forces guilt tripping dialogue on Link in the first half of the game (which will get on your nerves fast), is openly classist and racist towards Ritos, shows no gratitude towards Link, and doesn’t even pay you properly when you sell him Skull Necklaces; he underpays you and throws the money on the floor. He’s clearly meant to be hated by the player.
* {{Hypocrite}}: He becomes very classist when he becomes wealthy after his daughter is rescued. Keep in mind that he started the game completely destitute and used his poverty to guilt trip Link into saving his daughter.
* {{Jerkass}}: Repeatedly harasses and guilt trips Link to get his daughter back, [[UngratefulBastard shows zero gratitude when she’s rescued]], becomes extremely classist and [[FantasticRacism racist towards Ritos]] once he becomes rich, and if you sell him Skull Necklaces (which he underpays you for) he just throws the money on the floor. It’s also implied that he only cares about his daughter since she makes him money.
* JerkassHasAPoint: While it is rude to be refusing mail from the postman, considering it's coming from one of the Moblins who held his daughter captive, who she also believes she's fallen in love with, he's well within his sensibilities for wanting to keep the two from contacting each other, given that every single Moblin in the game appears to be AlwaysChaoticEvil.
* PetTheDog:
** For as much of a {{Jerkass}} as he is, he doesn't seem to mind if you vandalize the vase collection on the first floor, unlike Mila's father.
** Despite his general attitude towards Link and his distance from his daughter, he encourages them to spend time together.
* RagsToRiches: He is able to use the skull necklaces Maggie obtains while kidnapped to attain a great fortune and buy Mila's old family home.
* ShipperOnDeck: It's unlikely that he's being too serious given his [[{{Jerkass}} personality]], but he encourages Link to spend time with his "little beauty" of a daughter. At the very least, he seems to be far more okay with Link as a potential suitor for his daughter rather than [[AlwaysChaoticEvil Moe the Moblin]].
* TookALevelInJerkass: Downplayed. While he becomes a snobby rich man who angrily refuse any visitors to meet his daughter, looking at his words before Maggie's rescue shows him to be a lazy man who wants her back to work in his place. So it is more his wealth enhanced his true character to a more overt showing.
* UngratefulBastard: He rewards Link saving his daughter (which he was on his hands and knees begging Link to do prior) by looking down on him for not being wealthy and doesn’t even acknowledge that Link saved his daughter and made them wealthy.

Hailing from a faraway frigid region in the cursed seas, Zunari had just recently moved to Windfall Island in the hopes of setting up his stall. He's in need of finances and only has a Sail in his stock. Fortunately for him, Link is need of a sail and his purchase helps kickstart the growth of Zunari's small business into a merchant empire.
----
* AntiFrustrationFeatures: Every item you find by trading with the travelling merchants is also put up for sale at his shop. This means that if you make a wrong trade, you can go back to Windfall and buy the item you gave away rather than have to keep trading until one of the merchants sells you another one.
* ChainOfDeals: His shop starts out with only one product, and he enlists Link's help in seeking out merchants with whom he can trade to acquire new ones.
* DubNameChange: He's Suzunari in the original Japanese, and further renamed Naglaga in French and Tefregu in Italian.
* FriendlyShopkeeper: He runs a small outdoor stall that sells decorations he hopes will bring joy to the island.
* MerchantPrince: What he aspires to be at the beginning of the game. With Link's help, he is able to become an influential resident of Windfall Island, even hosting a nightly auction in the House of Wealth. The final (and most expensive) decoration is a gold statue of Zunari as the Shop Guru, the pride and joy of all merchants.

[[folder:Mrs. Marie]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mrs_marie.png]]
The founder of Windfall Island's School of Joy, where she works on teaching the island's children [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin about joy.]] She also has a bit of an obsession with jewelry.
----
* AnimeHair: Her hair is bright pink and is fashioned to resemble a Joy Pendant. Her figurine describes it as the most unique thing she's ever created.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: She initially comes off as silly and a bit airheaded, but has moments showing she's smarter than she lets on. Of note is when she deduces that the Killer Bees were responsible for the first Joy Pendant Link gives to her.
* CoolTeacher: She's taken her students on field trips to her cabana in the past, and even seems pretty chummy with the Killer Bees once they clean up their act.
* CripplingOverspecialization: She somehow makes a living teaching her students about pure joy, rather than subjects like science or social studies. If you try to bring her more than 99 Joy Pendants, she'll even cite that she isn't a math teacher to explain why she can't count that high.
* DudeWheresMyReward: In the HD version, bringing her 40 Joy Pendants earns Link an ordinary Treasure Chart instead of the Hero’s Charm like in the original. Her dialogue afterward indicates that he’s a bit let down with the meager prize.
* DisproportionateReward: She gives Link the deed to her private cabana and the oasis it sits on in exchange for 20 Joy Pendants, which are easily farmed from Bokoblins. It's justified in that the pendants are quite rare to normal people like her, but it's still a rather gratuitous reward.
* MaskOfPower: In keeping with her fondness for jewelry, giving her 40 Joy Pendants earns Link the Hero's Charm, a mask that lets him view enemies' life gauges.
* NonGivingUpSchoolGuy: She enlists Link's help in convincing a gang of children to stop skipping class.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: She initially appears to be significant only to a few minor side quests, but her cabana is later revealed to be the hiding place of one of the Triforce Charts. You need to collect at least 20 Joy Pendants for her in order to get inside.

[[folder:Bomb-Master Cannon]]

The owner of Windfall Island's bomb shop.
----
* BlackComedy: In a way, Link simply leaves Cannon tied up by the pirates after they robbed his shop rather than bothering to help him.
* BreakTheHaughty: After the pirates stole his supplies of bombs, due to his outlandish prices, he begins to sell his bombs at a price that Link can afford.
* BullyingADragon: It's implied the pirates only decided to rob him of his bombs after he tried to fleece them with his exorbitant bomb prices like he does to Link.
* {{Jerkass}}: During the first half of the game he's a major asshole who looks down on Link for even wanting to buy his bombs without being able to afford it.
* LaserGuidedKarma: For mistreating Link and doing an illegal monopoly in Windfall Island with his bomb shop, he is eventually raided by the pirates, and has his bombs stolen from him. What sells it is that he was left to be BoundAndGagged for an entire day with no one helping him.
* TookALevelInKindness: When Link visits him again, Cannon has humbled himself, and runs his business properly by selling bombs at an affordable price.

[[quoteright:131:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/doc_bandam.png]]
The owner of the Chu Jelly Juice Shop
----
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: He's an eccentric doctor at best.
* CollectorOfTheStrange: He likes to experiment on Chu Jelly and whenever Link gives him some, he waste no time making a concotion for Link to use. It's also mentioned he visits Paw print Isle frequently to collect ingredients on his own.
* DubNameChange: He's called Doc Gelata in French, [[Franchise/BackToTheFuture Doc Emmett]] in German, Dr. von Schnitzel in Italian and Bendam in Spanish.
* HerrDoktor: He is an alchemist, and his Italian name is Dr. von Schnitzel.
* PermanentlyMissableContent: As Blue Chu Jelly is of a limited quantity, if you sell more than eight globs of it to Beedle, you'll have to rely on the Korok Hollo for Blue Potions as Doc Bandam won't have enough jelly to make them.

[[folder:Tingle]]
!!Tingle
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tingle_tww_hd.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Hironori Miyata
->''[[CharacterCatchphrase "Tingle! Tingle! Kooloo-limpah!"]]''
A strange, 35-year-old man who thinks he's a fairy. Link frees him from a jail cell on Windfall Island and discovers that, despite his general weirdness, Tingle is actually quite the talented cartographer… for a price.
----
* AlternateSelf: Has one in [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask Termina]], even sharing the same name.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: He's first encountered locked in a jail cell for stealing a Picto Box on Windfall Island, yet claims to be innocent. He also has his brothers and a random sailor perform backbreaking labor for him, although whether they're being held against their will or just haven't tried to leave is anyone's guess.
* AntiHero: He's likely a wanted criminal who mistreats his siblings and charges stupidly high prices for his services, but said services are vital to Link's quest, so the hero puts up with hit.
* BigBrotherBully: He has Ankle perform manual labor all day and refuses to share Tingle Tower with Knuckle.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Despite being a complete loon who may or may not be evil, he is a legitimately talented cartographer and the only person in the Great Sea capable of deciphering the Triforce Charts.
* CharacterCatchphrase: "Tingle! Tingle! Kooloo-limpah!"
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: He is a 35-year-old man who thinks he's a fairy, constantly loses stuff, and is oddly detached from the suffering of those on his island.
* DissonantSerenity: He doesn't seem too bothered by (or even aware of) the suffering of his brothers and David Jr. on his tower.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: If you activate the Tingle Turner and find all the pieces of the ApocalypticLog in Dragon Roost Cavern, even Tingle is distressed and disturbed by the fact that the unlucky traveler died in there.
* EvilCounterpart: To ''himself''— or rather, [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask his Terminian self]]. The Tingle of Termina was a friendly map-maker who charges fair prices and never caused any trouble. The Tingle of the Great Sea is a greedy map-reader who charges exorbitant prices and treats his brothers like crap.
* GeniusDitz: He's a moron who thinks he and Link are reincarnated fairies, but he ''is'' the best map-reader in the Great Sea.
* GreatEscape: A hilariously mundane example. All Link has to do to break Tingle out of jail is [[CardboardPrison step on a switch]].
* ItsAllAboutMe: Tingle never considers the effects his actions have on others and won't even help Link unless it benefits himself.
* LackOfEmpathy: Never acknowledges the obvious pain that his brothers and David Jr. are in while working on his tower.
* LegacyCharacter: ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheMinishCap The Minish Cap]]'' would later establish that there was another Tingle much earlier in Hyrule's history.
* {{Manchild}}: He's a 35-year-old man who wears green tights 24/7 and believe himself to be a reincarnated fairy.
* MoralityPet: He treats his brothers (and David Jr.) horribly, but is never anything but nice to Link.
* {{Narcissist}}: Tingle insists on basing his maps and tech around himself, along with forcing his brothers and even David Jr. to dress like him. If Link hits his golden statues while the Tingle Turner is active, Tingle will attack him with a bomb.
* TheNavigator: As odd as Tingle is, he's nevertheless weirdly good at deciphering maps and pointing Link and the right direction.
* NominalHero: Based on the ridiculous amounts of Rupees he charges, it appears that Tingle is OnlyInItForTheMoney.
* NoodleIncident: The events leading up to his arrest on Windfall are never fully explained.
* ObliviouslyEvil: It's entirely possible that, due to his {{Manchild}} tendencies and general [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} kookiness]], Tingle is legitimately unaware of the fact that he is essentially forcing Ankle and David Jr. into slavery, which isn't helped by the fact that they never attempt to leave or stand up to him like Knuckle did.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: He's happy to help Link out… for 398 Rupees per chart.
* RiddleForTheAges: Did Tingle steal the Picto Box, or was he falsely accused as he says? The world may never know.
* TookALevelInJerkass: In contrast to his NiceGuy counterpart from ''Majora's Mask'', this version of Tingle is far more morally dubious and apathetic towards others.

[[folder:Beedle]]
[[quoteright:169:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/169px_beedle_the_wind_waker_hd.png]]
[[caption-width-right:169:"OHHHHHHH!"]]

A local sea merchant of the Great Sea, traveling from island to island with practical goods at hand. He hasn't gotten much luck in his business venture until Link sets foot in his doorstep.
----
* AmbiguouslyBrown: At a time when the only dark-skinned humanoids in the Zelda games were the [[OneGenderRace Gerudo]], he was the first and occasionally only non-Gerudo to be portrayed with dark skin.
* BeetleManiac: He has a beetle symbol on his shorts, and his name is a pun on Beetle. According to his figurine, he is fond of bugs, especially beetles.
* BoringButPractical: Beedle doesn't offer anything rare or fancy (unless he's Masked Beedle), but his exclusive goods are essential for Link's quest. The All-Purpose Bait can lure Fishmen, pigs and rats into the vicinity, the Hyoi Pear allows Link to control a seagull, and both must placed in their own Bait Bag also sold by Beedle.
* CharacterCatchphrase: "OHHHH!" whenever he sees a customer entering his shop.
* DubNameChange: Named "Terry" in every other language besides English.
* ExactWords: The Complimentary Cards. You don't get stuff for free, Beedle compliments you for being a good customer. Not as useless as it sounds. If you redeem these cards while currently injured, the compliments will heal you!
* FriendInTheBlackMarket: As Masked Beedle, he sells rare items like an Empty Bottle, Piece of Heart, and Treasure Chart at extremely high prices.
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: Story-wise, Tetra's pirates had planned on using their bombs to get into Jabun's cave up until Link made it there before they did. Gameplay-wise, however, Beedle will start selling the bombs they sold to him as soon as you've nabbed the ones from Tetra's ship on Windfall Island.
* GratuitousEnglish: Speaks simple English words like "oh", "thank you" and "bye" even in the Japanese version.
* HonestJohnsDealership: A mild case. His goods are quality and generally not overpriced, but with things like the Complimentary Cards and putting on a PaperThinDisguise to sell his premium items, there are still some shady business practices going on. The fact that he sells bombs supplied to him by Tetra's crew would also seem to show that he has no problems selling stolen goods from pirates.
* IntrepidMerchant: His Shop Ships can be found all over the Great Sea, even into extremely dangerous areas.
* PaperThinDisguise: The "Masked Beedle" at Rock Spire Isle claims he's not Beedle, despite being obviously Beedle wearing a gold-plated helmet.
* ShipperOnDeck: When Beedle mentions that Tetra gave him the Bombs to add to his stocks, he notices that Link has bashful look on his face and teases him about it.
-->'''Beedle''': ''By the way, Mr. Customer, are you acquainted with that adorable little pirate girl? You have a bashful look on your face, Mr. Customer! You can't hide it from me! Yuk yuk yuk yuk yuk!''
* TookAShortcut: Go to any of the islands that is marked as Beedle's Shop Ship location, and Beedle will always be there waiting for you. [[OffscreenTeleportation Even if Link teleports from one Beedle location to another]].
* VoiceGrunting: Notably, he is one of the few characters to have basic voice acting prior to ''Breath of the Wild''. [[GratuitousEnglish Said voice acting]] is simply him saying "OHHHHH!", "THANK YOU!", and "BYE!"
* WalkingShirtlessScene: He does not wear a shirt and unlike [[EarlyInstallmentCharacterDesignDifference his future designs]] in ''Skyward Sword'' and ''Breath of the Wild'', he only wears pants and sandals (and a gold-plated helmet as Masked Beedle).
* WeBuyAnything: He's perhaps the only shopkeeper who will buy any spoil Link offers, an easy way to get fast cash and ridding the excess amount of items in the Spoils Bag.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Fishmen]]
[[quoteright:215:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/215px_twwhd_fishman_artwork.png]]

A race of talking fish folks with human-like heads who swim in the Great Sea. They are great cartographers and can offer valuable hints from the gossips they hear, provided that Link has some food to spare.
----
* CartographySidequest: The insular squares of the Great Sea map can only be filled up by feeding a Fishman in each square block. There are a total of 49 Fishmen.
* CrackOhMyBack: Many of the Fishmen have aching, stiff backs they want to be relieved of. Once Link obtains the bow, he can play a mini-game where he must strike the Fishman's back with a limit of ten arrows. These arrows don't hurt them. On the contrary, they help fix the pain.
* DubNameChange: They're called Poiscomme in French, Neptunos in German, Talking Redfish in Italian, Luis Scales in European Spanish, and Carpógrafos in American Spanish.
* FishPeople: They mostly resemble fish, but their heads are distinctly human with a visible nose and flat face. Not to mention they can talk.
* FoodAsBribe: They won't talk, let alone fill out the Great Sea map, unless they are fed All-Purpose Bait.
* InterspeciesRomance: One of them hints at a past relationship with the proprietor of the cafe bar on Windfall Island. Nothing is ever really made of it, though.
* NoodleIncident: It's mentioned they're willing to help Link because of a debt they owe to the King of Red Lions, but whatever favor he did for them to incur it is left a mystery.
* RecurringElement: Their gossips and hints are reminiscent of the Gossip Stones of ''Ocarina of Time'' and ''Majora's Mask'' as well as the Fortune Tellers of ''A Link to the Past''.

[[folder:Travelling Merchants]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/merchant_tww.png]]
A trio of Gorons who make their living travelling and trading curios on the Great Sea. In-game, they can be found on Bomb Island, Greatfish Isle, and the Mother and Child Isles, and along with Zunari of Windfall Island, they're the main players in the game's trading sequence.
----
* DemotedToExtra: The Gorons in ''Ocarina of Time'' and ''Majora's Mask'' had important story arcs related to the main quest of their respective games, on top of having large settlements with plenty of other things to do. In this game, there are no more than three Gorons who are only involved in an optional (if rather elaborate) side quest chain.
* EatDirtCheap: As their figurines can attest to, rocks are still an important staple of the average Goron's diet.
* EyeobscuringHat: With the exception of a single peephole, they all wear oversized sun hats that keep their heads obscured from view. A swing of the Deku Leaf will briefly expose their Goron faces underneath.
* IntrepidMerchant: They all traveled to their respective islands, on tiny rafts and from quite far away, in the hope that they could find rare items to buy and sell.
* ProudMerchantRace: They're the only Gorons in the game, and all of their interactions with Link center around wanting to barter and trade with him, and by extension, each other. One of them will give him a Piece of Heart in exchange for the final item in the sequence -- the fabled Shop Guru Statue.

[[folder:The Great Fairies]]
[[quoteright:270:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/great_fairy_tww.png]]
Seven Great Fairies who reside on different islands on the Great Sea. They serve to increase the carrying capacity of Link's items and are ruled over by their queen, who appears in a childlike form on the Mother and Child Isles.
----
* AnthropomorphicShift: Inverted. While the regular healing fairies look more human than in other 3D games, the Great Fairies are given a more abstract, doll-like appearance with few human characteristics.
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Like in ''Majora's Mask'', each fairy has a different color scheme to indicate which upgrade she provides -- the two pink ones upgrade Link's wallet, the blue ones upgrade his Bomb Bag, the yellow ones upgrade his quiver, and the lone purple one upgrades his magic meter.
* CreepyDoll: The Queen of Fairies takes the form of a marionette-like child, complete with stilted movements and a Great Fairy doll she carries with her. It's unclear if this is her true form, as at the end of their conversation she falls limp right before fading away, like a puppet with its strings cut.
* EatenAlive: The purple Great Fairy was devoured by the Big Octo near Two-Eye Reef. If Link manages to defeat it and free her, she'll double his magic meter as thanks.
* GodInHumanForm: While the Great Fairies are incredibly helpful and magically powerful beings their Queen appears to be something else all together. Her body doesn't appear to be her real form but merely something she put together which is human enough to interact with Link on a relatively equal footing.
* TheOmniscient: Not only does the Queen of Fairies know of Link's quest to save his sister, but she's also privvy to the identity of the one Ganondorf is truly seeking, and advises Link to return and visit her once he learns it for himself.
* OneShotCharacter: The Great Fairies and their queen vanish from their fountains once they've bestowed their upgrades on Link, leaving a handful of healing fairies in their wake. This also means that purchasing Legendary Pictographs is necessary to acquire their figurines.
* TheTease: The Queen of Fairies spends a fair bit of her time with Link flirting with him quite shamelessly, telling him just before she departs that he's just her type.

!!Dragon Roost Islanders

[[folder:Rito in general]]
A tribe of bird-like humanoids who live on Dragon Roost Island under the protection of Valoo. They are descended from the Zora.
----
* BirdPeople: Evidenced mainly by their beak-like noses. They also grow wings upon getting one of Valoo's scales.
* PlanetOfHats: Their society and interactions with the other inhabitants of the Great Sea seem to revolve mainly around mail. You can even collect idol statues dedicated to Rito mail deliverers.
* OrnamentalWeapon: The common guards carry staves and the Rito Chieftain's assistants carry [[KukrisAreKool kukris]] on their lower backs, but they are not seen fighting.
* RiteOfPassage: Rito children must journey to Dragon Roost Island's peak to receive a scale from Valoo that will let them grow wings (and grow taller as well, judging from Komali's growth spurt).
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Quill]]
[[quoteright:119:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hdquill_8579.png]]
->''"You've traveled far for one with no wings..."''

A member of the bird-like Rito race who works as a postman. Knowledgeable, reliable, and reasonable, Quill is a great ally of Link in his adventure and helps him out on numerous occasions.
----
* AdultsAreUseless: For all his badassery, his response to learning that a girl resembling Medli was captured inside Dragon Roost Cavern is to stand near the cavern's entrance "keeping an eye on things", assuming it's some sort of mistake and assuring Link that he ''definitely'' doesn't need to concern himself with it. [[ItsUpToYou Guess what Link does.]]
* BadassArmfold: His default pose.
* BigDamnHeroes: Along with Valoo and Prince Komali, he rescues Link and Tetra from being killed by Ganondorf at the Forsaken Fortress.
* DeadpanSnarker: At times, particularly when he's talking to Tetra.
* DubNameChange: He's Odli in the original Japanese, and further renamed Taf in French, Larciel in German and Fanotipos in Italian.
* NiceGuy: Most Ritos are friendly, but Quill especially stands out, helping Link more actively than most members of his race.
* TheReliableOne: Apparently he is a high-ranking postman that his co-workers look up to, and the Rito Chieftain trusts him greatly.
* TheSmartGuy: Since his job entails travelling through the entire Great Sea, he's quite up to date on most current events and provides guidance to Link whenever he can.
* TallDarkAndSnarky: Despite his seagull-like feathers his skin is darker than other Rito and had a very snarky way of convincing the pirates to help Link rescue his sister for free.
* UnstoppableMailman: He shows no fear and gets the pirates to take Link onto their ship after convincing them that they were indirectly responsible for Aryll's kidnapping, and flies all over the Great Sea in all kinds of weather to both relay information to Link and deliver the mail. Even a storm won't deter him from doing his job.
* WingedHumanoid: Like all Ritos, his arms turn into wings when he flies.

->''"It's easy to SAY you can do anything! Bragging doesn't cost a thing!"''

The young fledgling prince of the Rito tribe and the holder of Din's Pearl. In his first appearance, Komali possesses a reclusive and negative attitude due to the death of his grandmother and the rampage of Valoo. Soon after Valoo calms down, Komali slowly gains his confidence and later repays the favor by being one of the rescuers of Link and Tetra from the Forsaken Fortress. The next time Link meets up with Komali again, he's now a more mature and courageous Rito, and is starting to show affection to Medli.
----
* BigDamnHeroes:
** Along with Quill and Valoo, he arrives just in time to save Link and Tetra from being killed by Ganondorf at the Forsaken Fortress.
** At the end of the game, he manages to locate Link and Tetra [[spoiler:after they resurfaced from the sunken Hyrule]]. Behind him is the Pirate Ship with Tetra's crew, Aryll, Medli and Makar ready to pick them up.
* BrattyHalfPint: He won't give you the pearl until he gets his wings.
* CostumeCopycat: Downplayed, but his attire post-growth spurt definitely seems to take some inspiration from Link's green getup, right down to imitating the cap with his longer hairstyle. It helps that his face and Link's are already pretty similar.
* DubNameChange: He's called Scalf in French and Falin in Italian.
* HeIsAllGrownUp: Komali was a pretty small Rito when first met. Once he has obtained his wings, he gets a growth spurt and puts him just as tall as a young teenage boy like Link.
* {{Hikikomori}}: His Japanese name even is "Komori". He grows out of it, though.
* ImpliedLoveInterest: To Medli, based on his apparent crush on her, their history together, and that Medli and Link do seem to be just friends.
* MementoMacguffin: Din's Pearl, which was given to him by his deceased grandmother.
* MissingMom: Which is how he likely developed such a strong connection to his grandmother, as she's the only family member mentioned and he needed Medli to act as his maid as long as he did.
* MommasBoy: To his deceased grandmother. As the Din's Pearl is the only connection remaining to his grandma, he refuses to give it up at first.
* PrecociousCrush: Though Medli doesn't appear to be that much older than him, his crush on her can still be seen as this.
* TookALevelInBadass: Did you really think that the meek young boy you met early on in your journey would later save you from ''Ganondorf'' of all people?
* TragicKeepsake: Komali spends all of his time playing with Din's Pearl, the only thing left of his grandmother. He gives it to Link before setting off to get his wings, having decided he won't use it as a crutch anymore.
* WingedHumanoid: After he received his wings.

The Great Valoo is the mighty Sky Spirit. He lives atop Dragon Roost Island and is the patron deity and protector of the Rito people that dwell there. He is the guardian of one of the three pearls, Din's Pearl.
----
* AdiposeRex: While he doesn't physically rule the island, the fact that he's a deity and is slightly chubby puts him in such a position.
* BigDamnHeroes: Valoo arrives to Forsaken Fortress to rescue Link and Tetra from Ganondorf, and [[KillItWithFire burns Ganondorf's lair to a crisp.]]
* ButtMonkey: The poor guy gets subjected to quite a lot of abuse. The entire reason he's so angry is because Gohma's been messing with his tail, and defeating Gohma requires Link to similarly pull on his tail by latching on to it with his grappling hook.
* DragonsAreDivine: Valoo is the patron deity of the Rito people.
* FamousAncestor: According to the ''Hyrule Historia'', he's descended from Volvagia, the dragon of Death Mountain in ''Ocarina of Time''.
* FeatheredDragons: Downplayed. His wings are made of feathers, but his body is covered in scales.
* GiantFlyer: [[SquareCubeLaw Though his relatively tiny wings should not be able to overcome his own incredible weight.]]
* IDubTheeSirKnight: He's so grateful for Link saving him, he dubs him with the title "Hero of Winds".
* LegacyCharacter: It's hardly the most heroic legacy, but ''Hyrule Historia'' implies that he's descended from Volvagia, the boss of ''Ocarina of Time'''s Fire Temple.
* NiceToTheWaiter: Prince Komali's grandmother [[PosthumousCharacter was once his loyal attendant]], and he gave her his most precious possession, Din's Pearl.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Valoo has a western-type body, but with an eastern look; in a departure from the norm in the series, he isn't hostile.
* RidiculouslySmallWings: He can fly quite well in the air in spite of having six tiny wings on his back, although he's still less agile than the birdlike Helmaroc King.

A plant-like race that lives in the Forest Haven with the Great Deku Tree. They are descended from the Kokiri.
----
* AnthropomorphicShift: Inverted. Their original Kokiri forms resembled human children, but here they are much more plant-like.
* GreenThumb: The trees they plant grow rapidly provided they are given Forest Water.
* PlantPerson: Wooden, leaf-faced sprites who fly around using leaf propellers.

->''"I saw your clothing, and suddenly I felt a longing for an age gone by..."''

A huge tree and the fatherly guardian of the forest, the Koroks, and guardian of Farore's Pearl.
----
* DivineDelegation: He has a grand vision for new forests to be planted so that the land lost during the Great Flood will eventually be reclaimed from the depths. Since he's immobile, he tasks his Koroks with this mission.
* FlingALightIntoTheFuture: He has the Koroks plant trees across the islands of the Great Sea in the hopes that they'll consolidate into new forests and one day merge the islands into a new large landmass like old Hyrule. However, the trees are vulnerable to Ganon's evil magic and will wither prematurely unless they're given mystical water within Forest Haven.
* ForeignLanguageTirade: Minus the Tirade part. Unlike Valoo and Jabun, he can speak common just fine, but the first time he meets Link, the sight of the boy's [[ClothesMakeTheLegend clothes]] causes him to lapse into "the Ancient Tongue" for a few lines.
* GoodParents: The Koroks are like his children. When Makar goes missing in the Forbidden Forest, he asks Link to retrieve him on his behalf, since he's immobile. When Makar returns safely, he is consoled by the Great Deku Tree, who is simply relieved that the little Korok is safe.
* LegacyCharacter: He's the descendant of the Great Deku Tree from ''Ocarina of Time'', and is confirmed in the ''Encylopedia'' to be the Deku Tree Sprout grown up.
* PuppeteerParasite: What some Chu-Chus attempt to do to the Guardian of the Forest, until Link intervenes.
* WiseTree: He has a vast knowledge not only about the Forest Haven, but also about the rest of the Great Sea.

The proprietor of the Nintendo Gallery, he can sculpt exact replicas of any characters whose pictographs he receives.
----
* ArtsyBeret: A variation; He styles ''his hair'' into the shape of a beret.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: His own figurine description says that he is the world's greatest sculptor but that he hates having people watch him sculpt because he does so in his underwear.
* ButNowIMustGo: If Link gets all of the figurines, Carlov goes on a journey and leaves the gallery in the hero's care.
* DubNameChange: He's called Hajime in the original Japanese, and further renamed Bill in French, Minitendo in German, Armando Mangialavoro in Italian, Miniato in European Spanish and Carlov in English and American Spanish.
* {{Narcissist}}: If you give Carlov a picture of himself, he will admire the person in the picture as exceptionally handsome, even though he doesn't realize it's his own face.

[[folder:Manny]]
[[quoteright:130:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/manny_tww.png]]
A figurine-obsessed boy who hangs out around the Nintendo Gallery.
----
* DubNameChange: He's called Otakki in Spanish.
* {{Hikkikomori}}: His figurine description says that he used to rarely go outside before he developed his figurine obsession.
* PunnyName: His full name in the original Japanese version is "Manny A.", which, if you pronounce the "A" as you would in Japanese, sounds like "mania". In the Spanish version, his name is [[{{Otaku}} "Otakki"]].

->''"May the winds of fortune blow with you."''

A Zora and the former Sage of Earth. She is killed by Jalhalla, one of Ganondorf's monsters, so that her prayers may no longer reach the Master Sword. However, her spirit lingers on, and pleads to Link to find her successor.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Her crown resembles a shark.
* DubNameChange: She's Lart in German and Lartis in Spanish.
* FishPerson: Notably, the only Zora seen in the game.
* HarpOfFemininity: The same one as Medli.
* {{Leitmotif}}: A very somber arrangement of "The Legendary Hero".
* MagicMusic: Her harp, which she used to play the Earth God's Lyric for the Master Sword before she died.
* Really700YearsOld: According to her figurine, she was born in Zora's Domain, meaning she was born before Hyrule was flooded.

A Kokiri and the former Sage of Wind. He is killed by Molgera, one of Ganondorf's monsters, so that his prayers may no longer reach the Master Sword. However, his spirit lingers on, and pleas to Link to find his successor.
----
* DubNameChange: He's called Frido in Spanish.
%%* EyesAlwaysShut: His default expression.
%%* CatSmile: Again, his default expression.
* IdenticalStranger: If it weren't for the shut eyes, he'd look nearly identical to Link. Not too surprising, being a Kokiri and all.
* InformedAttribute: He's described by his figurine as being "somewhat saucy", but due to his limited screentime, he doesn't have much chance to show it.
* {{Leitmotif}}: A tribal arrangement of "The Legendary Hero".
* MagicMusic: His violin, which he used to play the Wind God's Aria for the Master Sword before he died.
* OneSteveLimit: Averted. He shares his name with a Kokiri girl in ''Ocarina of Time'', but there's no known relation to them past that.
* PerpetualSmiler: That CatSmile of his never leaves his face.
* Really700YearsOld: He explains to Link that, as a Kokiri, his childlike appearance is not indicative of his true age.
* UndyingLoyalty: When he meets Link, Fado reminisces about how the King of Hyrule used to conduct the Sages in song with the Wind Waker he now owns. With that, he then asks Link to tell the King he will continue to play, even in the next world.

[[folder:Gohma]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gohma_the_wind_waker.png]]

A large fiery insectoid monster that dwelled within the cavern underneath Valoo on Dragon Roost Island. As such, she becomes the boss of Dragon Roost Cavern, the first dungeon (not counting Forsaken Fortress, which is explored first but is the fourth in order of completion).
----
* BreathWeapon: A fire-breathing insect who harasses a fire-breathing dragon, fittingly enough.
* BrokenArmorBossBattle: She begins her fight encased in a thick rocky carapace, but the area she's fought in [[BossArenaIdiocy has a very weak ceiling with a dragon's tail dangling through it]]. Link can use the Grappling Hook on the tail to collapse the ceiling onto Gohma, repeat until her carapace is completely destroyed, then use the Grappling Hook on her eye to bring her into stabbing range of his sword.
* ClippedWingAngel: After her armor falls off, Gohma is a lot faster and can deal more damage. However, her eye is extremely vulnerable to attack.
* CollapsingCeilingBoss: [[InvertedTrope Inverted]]. ''You're'' the one who makes the ceiling fall on ''her''.
* CreepyCentipedes: Unlike most other Gohmas, she's not as much a spider as she is a big scorpion-centipede thing.
* GoForTheEye: DoubleSubverted. Gohma's armored eyelid will close every time Link tries to go for the eye. The only way to bypass this obstacle is to break her armor with the very large rock above her.
* KingMook: She's a giant Magtail, essentially. This is especially noticeable after her armor has broken off. The only notable visual difference other than size and the aforementioned armor is that she has two large clawed arms.
* LavaAddsAwesome: It's a classic Gohma fight with burning attacks and a magma arena added into the mix.
* PlayingWithFire: She can breathe fire and spew burning rocks.

[[folder:Kalle Demos]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kalle_demos.png]]

A flower-like monster that shields and defends itself with a giant tentacled bulb. It swallows Makar once the latter accidentally falls into the domain of the Forbidden Woods, the second dungeon, and thus has to be fought and defeated as its boss to save the young Korok.
----
* BossAlteringConsequence: If you brought Forest Water with you, you can kill it in one hit.
* CeilingCling: It uses its upper set of tentacles for this...
* CombatTentacles: ...and has a lower set of much larger root-like tentacles for this.
* DubNameChange: It's called Karle Demos in the original Japanese, and further renamed Carniphora in German, Kardemos in Italian and Vilipendulia in Spanish.
* GlassCannon: It can strike fast in multiple directions, but its head is small and extremely vulnerable, having only 16 HP in total. With the right sword combo, it is possible to kill Kalle Demos in ''one'' round.
* KickTheDog: It appears to have waited to chow down on Makar just until Link arrives to rescue him.
* KingMook: It's a larger and more powerful version of the Boko Babas.
* ManEatingPlant: Like the Boko Babas it's based off of. Its central head gobbles Makar up to begin the battle, and if you remain near it for too long after cutting its petals down from the ceiling, they'll form back into a bud and chomp on Link for a brief time, dealing damage.
* OneHitKill: After cutting it loose from the ceiling, the plant can be killed instantly by pouring a bottle of Forest Water onto its head.
* OutsideTheBoxTactic: Killing the boss with Forest Water, since it loses its magic properties after just 20 minutes (or 30, in the HD remaster) outside the Forest Haven. While it's possible to clear the Forbidden Woods and reach the boss within that time frame, bringing the bottled water with them isn't something most players would think of.
* ReviveKillsZombie: The logic behind its weakness against Forest Water, as it's an overgrown, vicious plant that seems to thrive on the sullied water of the Forbidden Woods.
* ShockAndAwe: Subverted. Its tentacles seem to spark and hum with electricity at certain points but aren't capable of actually electrocuting Link.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: According to its figurine, its "Favorite thing" (to eat, presumably) is simply listed as "Makar".
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Gohdan]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gohdan.png]]

The Great Arbiter. A large, apparently mechanical statue guarding the top floor of the Tower of the Gods, the third dungeon, as a final test of the Goddesses for anyone attempting to enter Hyrule to claim the Master Sword.
----
* BattleThemeMusic: Its battle theme is one which has three forms: The standard one (when Gohdan is facing Link with its hands), the critical one (when the hands are stunned and Gohdan is attacking with its mouth's projectiles), and the sedated one (when it's completely stunned). Strangely, both the game's official soundtrack and '''all''' uploads of the theme in Website/YouTube (including fan remixes) omit the second half of the critical track and the first half of the sedated one, instead welding the other halves plus the completed standard theme.
* DubNameChange: It's called Quartoxuma in German, Kuznar in Italian, and Deus Probatur in Spanish.
* FeedItABomb: Link can only defeat Gohdan by putting bombs in its mouth while it's stunned.
* GiantHandsOfDoom: What Gohdan uses to attack Link until they're disabled.
* HeroAntagonist: Unlike the other bosses in the game, Gohdan isn't at the behest of Ganondorf. It only stands in Link's way because the gods need to know that whoever they allow to enter Hyrule is worthy of the title of "hero".
* KingMook: You fight it by shooting at its eyes to stun it, much like an Armos, followed by tossing a bomb into its open mouth to deal damage, like an Armos Knight.
* {{Magitek}}: Gohdan has a very robotic design that fits the futuristic battlefield where it and Link fight. However, it wasn't an advanced technology that created it, but the divine powers of the gods to test the chosen hero.
* MeaningfulName: Its name in the Spanish translation, Deus Probatur, means "tester god" in Latin.
* OnlyTheWorthyMayPass: It only lets Link open the way to old Hyrule once Link bests it in combat.
* PlatformBattle: The room in which its fought is surrounded by a shallow pit that Gohdan’s hands will try to sweep Link into, which can be avoided by standing near the door. The floor below will damage you with electricity until you can climb to safety.
* TacticalSuicideBoss: If Link runs out of bombs or arrows, both of which are needed to fight him, Gohdan will gladly sneeze some out for him. {{Justified|Trope}}, since it's a test of Link's skill, not of how many bombs and arrows he entered with.

[[folder:Phantom Ganon]]
[[quoteright:320:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/320px_phantomganonww_8.png]]

A clone of Ganondorf that attacks Link throughout the game. He serves as the second MiniBoss of Forsaken Fortress and later the main miniboss of Ganon's Tower.
----
* AmbiguousSituation: It's not made clear if this is the same Phantom Ganon that appeared in ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime''.
* BadassCape: He wears a long, tattered cape in battle.
* BattleThemeMusic: A remix/mashup of Ganon's introductory stinger from ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaI'', Ganon's FinalBoss theme in ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaALinkToThePast A Link to the Past]]'' and Ganondorf's battle theme from ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime''.
* {{BFS}}: Phantom Ganon has a sword as big as Link's entire body.
* FlayingAlive: His left arm and right leg have been reduced to bones. Though given he's a spectral doppelganger of Ganondorf seemingly made of dark magic, it's not clear if he had any flesh there to begin with.
* GigglingVillain: He introduces himself to Link with an EvilLaugh, and repeats it after his first defeat.
* KilledOffForReal: He's obliterated with a Light Arrow from Link in Ganon's tower.
* MesACrowd: He creates illusions of himself in his rematch with Link.
* RecurringBoss: He's fought in both the Forsaken Fortress and Ganon's Tower.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: He teleports away when Link beats him the first time. He stands his ground in Ganon's Tower, with fatal results.
* TennisBoss: He fires white energy balls that Link can knock back. He still has them for the rematch, but can also fire off a cluster of red energy balls that can only be deflected with a spin attack.

[[folder:Helmaroc King]]

[[caption-width-right:350:CAW! CAW! CAW!]]

A giant Kargoroc that wears a mask under Ganon's control that stalks the Great Sea searching for "girls with long ears" in an attempt to find Zelda. It serves as the boss of Forsaken Fortress, the fourth dungeon.
----
* AccidentalKidnapping: He mistakes Aryll for Tetra and kidnaps her, triggering Link's adventure. Needless to say, Link was ''livid''.
* ClimaxBoss: Fought roughly halfway through the game after it has menaced you several times before and is the boss right before the first proper meeting with [[BigBad Ganondorf]].
* TheDragon: To Ganondorf. While the other bosses (except Gohdan) are always the minions of Ganon, the Helmaroc King stands out for being the catalyst of Link's adventure (for kidnapping Ayrll) and directly serves under Ganondorf rather than being positioned in a secluded area.
* DramaticSpotlight: After its defeat, the Helmaroc King flies into the air. One by one, the floodlights of the Forsaken Fortress activate as the bird screeches one final time before exploding into a burst of feathers, signaling its long-awaited death.
* DubNameChange: It's called Zeeklock in Japanese, and further renamed Armor King in French, Mask King in German, Elmaroc King in Italian, and Kranos (Greek fro "helmet") in Spanish.
* FeatheredFiend: Massive, feathered, and villainous. He even explodes into a mess of feathers which rain down when defeated.
* GiantFlyer: A huge bird who uses his equally huge talons to kidnap young girls with long ears for Ganondorf.
* ItsPersonalWithTheDragon: Between [[IHaveYourWife kidnapping your sister]], [[YankTheDogsChain airlifting you right when you're about to save her]], [[LeftForDead chucking you into the ocean to drown]], and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking probably being closely related to those annoying Kargorocs]], bashing this thing's head in with the Skull Hammer can easily turn out to be one of the most satisfying moments in the entire game.
* KingMook: His appearance and moveset are essentially those of a souped-up Kargaroc.
* LeftStuckAfterAttack: His jamming his beak into the ground is your cue to give him a whack with the Skull Hammer.
* MaskOfPower: Zig-zagged. It doesn't ''give'' him power as much as it ''signifies'' it, and protects him from damage. Link must crack it open with the Skull Hammer to be able to land sword strikes.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: If he hadn't kidnapped Aryll, Link wouldn't have gone on the quest in the first place.
* OhCrap: Gives a non-vocal one at the start of the game, right before getting decked in the face by one of the pirates' cannonballs.
* PerpetualMolt: He leaves his feathers everywhere during his fight with Link.
* YankTheDogsChain: Grabs Link in its beak and throws him off into the darkness (after showing him off to Ganondorf) before he can save his sister. He almost does it again when Link reaches the fortress a second time, but upon realizing that all the prisoners have been freed, he opts to flood the room instead.

[[folder:Jalhalla]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jalhalla_the_wind_waker.png]]

A gigantic Poe formed from 15 normal Poes fusing together into a mask. It serves as the boss of Earth Temple, the fifth dungeon, and was responsible for the death of the temple's former Earth Sage (Laruto).
----
* AdiposeRex: It's the "lord of the Poes," and its gut is bigger than any other part of its body.
* TheAssimilator: It's made up of a mask and 15 normal Poes. [[CriticalExistenceFailure Or just one Poe and a mask.]]
* AsteroidsMonster: Jalhalla is composed of 15 smaller Poes, and can only be truly defeated where there's no Poes left when it tries to reassemble.
* BedsheetGhost: Subverted. While the normal Poes look to be spirits in sack-like jumpsuits, Jalhalla's head does not look tied-off, and when he briefly lifts his mask in one attack animation, his face can be seen, which matches the color of his body.
* BellyFlopCrushing: Will try to jump on Link stomach-first to reverse his movement instead of possessing him like the smaller Poes do.
* BlowYouAway: One of its attacks is to blow Link into the spikes surrounding its arena.
* BossArenaIdiocy: Without the lights from the ceiling to solidify Jalhalla's form, and the wall spikes to split it apart, Jalhalla would be invincible. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]] given Jalhalla is in a sacred area not meant to accommodate it, if anything it was probably designed to ''counter'' spectral beings like him.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: It's a goofy, comical boss... that successfully killed the Earth Sage.
* CriticalExistenceFailure: With one Poe remaining, Jalhalla is a massive, lantern-swinging, fire-playing ghost in a mask. With zero Poes remaining, Jalhalla is simply a mask.
* DubNameChange: It's called Fati Triputis ("trinity's fate" in Latin) in Spanish.
* {{Expy}}: It being a combination of 15 ghosts into a larger version is reminiscint of Boolossus from fellow Gamecube game ''VideoGame/LuigisMansion''.
* FatBastard: The same fat bastard who killed Laruto.
* FloatingMask: Jalhalla seems to be the mask itself and the Poes are giving it a body. While Jalhalla wears the mask most of the time, he lifts it to blow air at Link, revealing a face underneath.
* InterfaceScrew: Due to being made out of several Poes, Jalhalla can possess Link, reversing the control stick.
* KingMook: Giant Poe, obviously.
* MergerOfSouls: Essentially a collective of Poes who merge into one massive Poe. They (he) can only be harmed when they separate.
* MonochromeApparition: It's almost completely grey, the only other color on Jalhalla's body besides dark grey being purple and yellow.
* MoodWhiplash: A very lighthearted and humorous boss battle in a very dark, spooky dungeon.
* OffscreenVillainy: Did away with Laruto the Earth Sage.
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: This one's an amalgamation of smaller monsters. Jalhalla himself is just a harmless animated mask.
* PlayingWithFire: It shakes its lantern to spread balls of flame, and it can also create a flamethrower by blowing through it.
* SillySpook: If its [[SoundtrackDissonance battle music]] is any indication.
* SoulPower: Uses the souls of 15 Poes fused together to fight. As more Poes are killed, he becomes smaller and weaker but fiercer.
* SoundtrackDissonance: You're fighting the king of all ghosts deep within an ancient burial ground that is full of the undead, and its theme song is... [[MoodWhiplash like something that could be played in a circus]]. Subverted in the Ganon's Tower rematch, which has the same core theme, but is much more fittingly creepy.
* StatusEffects: Going near Jahalla will cause him to body slam onto you, which reverses your controls for a few seconds.
* TrampolineTummy: Attacking Jalhalla with certain items will cause it to jiggle violently, especially bombs and the Skull Hammer.
* WeakenedByTheLight: Link must direct sunlight at Jalhalla using his mirror shield to make him vulnerable.

[[folder:Red Wizzrobe]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wizzrobe_the_wind_waker.png]]

A powerful Wizzrobe that Link fights in the Wind Temple as its MiniBoss.
----
* DegradedBoss: Inverted. While other minibosses in ''The Wind Waker'' can be encountered again as your standard {{Mook}} variety enemies, the Red Wizzrobe fight happens ''after'' you encounter the regular Wizzrobes first and it's a one of a kind enemy, meaning you'll never encounter that variant again as a regular foe.
* EnemySummoner: Can summon Darknuts, Moblins and Morths similar to yellow-hooded Wizzrobes. However, it's the only Wizzrobe capable of summoning other Wizzrobes; specifically the aforementioned yellow-hooded Wizzrobes, [[DisasterDominoes which can then summon additional enemies into the arena]].
* EvilLaugh: Gives a haughty chuckle before engaging Link with a combined Darknut and Wizzrobe summon.
* UsefulNotes/GreenIsBlue: It's called "Red Wizzrobe" when in fact it has an orange robe.
* HellIsThatNoise: Spams the Wizzrobe's signature teleport sound when Link first enters the room, clueing into its unique nature compared to other Wizzrobes.
* KingMook: It's the only Wizzrobe that is treated as a MiniBoss and can summon other Wizzrobes. To signify its importance, it has a unique crest-like crown and its own seperate figurine for the Nintendo Gallery.
* NoNameGiven: It's never given a name in-game, not even in its figurine.
* {{Mayincatec}}: Wears a golden crest in this aesthetic, complete with a crest shaped from sunrays.
* MiniBoss: Along with Phantom Ganon, the Red Wizzrobe is one of two unique dungeon minibosses fought in ''The Wind Waker''.
* PermanentlyMissableContent: It is the only Wizzrobe of its kind, as while there are other Wizzrobes capable of summoning other enemies, ''this'' one can summon other Wizzrobes (and since the Wizzrobe it summons in-game can summon ''its own'' allies, the whole battle can get out of hand if Link doesn't dispatch it first). As a result, it must be pictographed for its figurine in the Nintendo Gallery before it's defeated.
* PlayingWithFire: Launches a volley of three fireballs while its summons are still alive, like all other Wizzrobe variants.
* VillainTeleportation: He teleports around the room, and must be hit at some points with arrows.

[[folder:Molgera]]
[[quoteright:289:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/300px_molgera.png]]

A large worm-like monster that hides beneath the sand and sends smaller larval versions of itself to hunt Link from beneath the ground. It is the boss of the sixth dungeon, Wind Temple, and was responsible for the murder of its sage (Fado).
----
* AntlionMonster: When buried in the sand, Molgera will create sand pits that drag Link to their centers at which it patiently awaits.
* DubNameChange: It's called Verminus in the Spanish translation.
* GiantFlyer: Yes, it's a ''flying'' giant worm.
* KingMook: Technically it is. Although they are never seen anywhere else, Lanmolas (a recurring enemy in the ''Zelda'' series) appear in the boss arena, serving as distractions to Link.
* OffscreenVillainy: Ate Fado the Wind Sage.
* OurMonstersAreWeird: A giant sand worm/ant-lion that weaponizes its offspring and brays like a donkey when injured.
* QuicksandSucks: It will make antlion-like sand traps to pull Link in toward its mouth.
* PostDefeatExplosionChain: After Link delivers the killing blow, Molgera flies into the air screeching and its body segments then turn to sand and explode one after the other.
* ReducedToDust: It turns into pure sand before exploding.
* SandWorm: This is the closest thing to defining what sort of creature it is. With its eyes and facial structure, there's no telling.
* VolumetricMouth: While its head resembles a manta ray of sorts, the mouth is half or most of the mass, and opens sideways along the eyes, opening and closing like a weird flap.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Puppet Ganon]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/puppetganon.png]]

A monstrous shapeshifting puppet that Link must fight in Ganon's Tower, the final dungeon. It is the penultimate boss of the game.
----
* AnimalMotifs: No matter what form it takes, it always has the face of a boar.
* AttackTheTail: All three forms share one weakness; a glowing blue ball on the tail that can be struck by Light Arrows.
* BaitAndSwitch: New players can be forgiven for thinking that they're actually facing off against Ganondorf's usual OneWingedAngel at first.
* BigCreepyCrawlies: Its second form is a large-spider like creature.
* DarkIsEvil: It is an evil marionette painted dark purple.
* FullBoarAction: Its first form is a humanoid boar, and it keeps its piggish face for the next two forms.
* LightningBruiser: Puppet Ganon's snake form is extremely fast and hits like a tank.
* MightyGlacier: Its boar form is slow, but can launch powerful punches.
* NotQuiteDead: After Puppet Ganon's first form is defeated, the Boss Clear Fanfare will play and Link will do his HappyDance... only for both to stop when Puppet Ganon is lifted from the ground and reformatted into a giant spider.
* PerversePuppet: It's an enormous puppet used by Ganondorf in combat.
* PreFinalBoss: Puppet Ganon is the penultimate boss of the game, with only the final battle against Ganondorf himself left afterwards.
* SnakesAreSinister: Puppet Ganon's final form is a LightningBruiser snake that mercilessly attacks Link.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute:
** Its boar form is clearly based on Ganon.
** Its spider form may reference the Skulltula, a common enemy in 3D Zelda games that is otherwise absent from ''Wind Waker''. Its only method of attack matches the Skulltulas' tactic of falling onto Link.
** Its snake form is based on Moldorm, a worm-like enemy that is only vulnerable on the tail and moves randomly. The way it slithers around is also eerily similar to the Moldorm boss in ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaALinkToThePast'', with it indiscriminately slithering around in all directions.
