[[folder:General Tropes for Strawberry Shortcake Characters]]
* TheBusCameBack: Often times, certain characters from the past generation will be brought over for the succeeding generation.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Many characters from past incarnations end up being left out of future series. Some examples include Ginger Snap, T.N. Honey, Cafe Ole, and Rainbow Sherbet, all of whom have only appeared in their debut series, with no signs of a new incarnation.
* EdibleThemeNaming: Every character is named after a fruit, pastry, tea, candy, etc. As long as it's sweet or a baked good, it's probably a Strawberry Shortcake name. Their appearances will usually reflect their motif (ex: Strawberry Shortcake's strawberry themed hats).
* ThereAreNoAdults: Aside from minor characters or outright villains, there are usually no adults seen in a Strawberry Shortcake series.
** This is notably averted in ''Berry in the Big City'', which features several prominent adult characters, such as Aunt Praline, or the parents of the other Berry Besties.
* YouDontLookLikeYou: Everyone's appearance will drastically change from series to series, and will more often than not bear little resemblance to their predecessor. Certain design elements may remain consistent for some characters, though. Strawberry Shortcake will always have her strawberry hat and red/pink hair, Purple Pieman will be tall, have a mustache, and wear a chef hat.
** Averted by Purple Pieman and Sour Grapes in the 2003 series, which is heavily based on their 1980s designs.
