TheProtagonist of ''VideoGame/SkiesOfArcadia'', Vyse is a young, idealistic air pirate who dreams of sailing beyond the sunset. He fights with a pair of cutlasses.
----
* AccidentalPervert: If you examine the SchmuckBait yellow hankie on Aika's wall right when you get to Pirate Isle. Ouch.
* BlueIsHeroic: In addition of being the Blue Rogues' member, Vyse wears blue outfit. Most of his Super Moves also have blue as either highlight or background color.
* BoldExplorer: Much of the game centers on his quest to explore all the lands of Arcadia, which is recorded in his [[CaptainsLog journal entries.]] There's even a {{sidequest}} to find all 88 hidden discoveries. Vyse lampshades it, near the beginning of the game, while he [[ChildhoodFriend Aika]], and [[MysteriousWaif Fina]] are watching the sunset on Pirate Isle:
-->'''Vyse:''' ''(wistfully)'' "I want to see what's out there... to see what lies beyond the sunset."
* BreakingTheFourthWall: The [[Platform/SegaDreamcast Dreamcast]] version has a hidden audio file that's [[EasterEgg only accessible when you load the disc in a CD player]]. Aika, Fina, and Vyse take turns [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQLkslOsAiM telling you to put the disc back in the Dreamcast!]]
-->'''Aika:''' Hey! Wait a minute! What do you think you're doing? This is a Dreamcast disc.\
'''Fina:''' There is game data on track one. So please, don't use this disc in a normal CD player.\
'''Vyse:''' We can't save the world from a CD player, so just put us back in the Dreamcast, so we can do our job.
* TheCaptain: He dreams of being the captain of his own ship someday. He eventually becomes the captain of the [[CoolAirship Delphinus]], the coolest CoolAirship in the game, by unanimous decision from his friends.
* CaptainsLog: Vyse's journal, which can be accessed through the menu.
* CharacterizingSittingPose: He sits with one leg over the chair's armrest, presumably to show his informality.
* ChickMagnet: Aika, Fina, Belleza, and several other minor characters all fall for him over the course of the story. Vyse is fully aware of most of them, but never acts on a single one.
* ChildhoodFriends: He practically grew up with Aika, since she was one of the orphans his father took in. Though they [[AvertedTrope avert]] the [[LikeBrotherAndSister Westermarck Effect]], as there are subtle hints that she may have a crush on him. [[spoiler:And not-so-subtle hints, like the fact she plants a kiss on his cheek before the final battle on Crescent Isle.]]
** Depending on player's interpretation, this can also lead into [[spoiler:ChildhoodFriendRomance]].
* CounterAttack: His Counterstrike and Skull Shield support moves do this for the turn. With the former skill, any enemy that attacks him is attacked right back. With the latter, the whole party becomes immune to physical attacks and automatically counters for one turn.
* {{Determinator}}: Big time. Vyse loves a challenge, and he never backs down until he's given it his best shot. If he fails, he simply picks himself up and tries something else.
** Evil empire holding friends and family hostage? "It won't be easy, but it's not impossible!... We'll get them back, somehow."
** Impenetrable fortress that no one has ever been able to escape from? "[[BadassBoast Ha! No one's ever escaped before because]] ''[[BadassBoast I've]]'' [[BadassBoast never tried!]]"
** Rampaging 4-headed giant with death beams? "Maybe we can do something about that thing with the [[CoolShip Little Jack]]!"
** Stranded on a deserted island? "Might as well think of this as some sort of vacation. Meanwhile, time to start fixing my busted lifeboat."
* DivingSave: [[spoiler:During the raid on Piastol's ship, a thrown knife had been aimed at Aika. Vyse shoved her out of the way at the last second and the knife grazed his face, giving him the scar he now has.]]
* DualWielding: Though outside of S-Moves, he only actually uses one sword to attack. He mostly uses the smaller, secondary one for blocking, except for during Cutlass Fury or Pirate's Wrath. .
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: Daikokuya becomes smitten with his 'strength' and asks Vyse to 'warm him up'. Vyse's response is to promptly declare an emergency evacuation.
* {{Expy}}: Very similar in both appearance and personality to Anime/CaptainHarlock.
* EyepatchOfPower: His goggles are actually in the form of a pirate's eyepatch over his right eye. The eye beneath it works just fine, though.
* FirstKiss: [[spoiler:Between him and Aika, at the end of their private conversation on the night before the battle against the Hydra Fortress. If Vyse's [[RelationshipValues "swashbuckler" rating]] is high enough, Aika thanks him for helping her feel better. Then pauses before [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2kT0iBMElA giving him a kiss on the cheek]], leaving him speechless.]]
* FriendlyPirate: All of the Blue Rogues, but especially Vyse. They're so warm, inviting, and generous, the only way you'd really know they're pirates is because they attack a Valuan Empire vessel in the prologue.
* GogglesDoSomethingUnusual: It's a zoom lens. And it detects moonfish.
* GondorCallsForAid: [[spoiler:Although he didn't so much call for it as everybody showed up and said "hey, we heard you were gonna take on Galcian's flagship, need help? We wanna join the fun."]]
* GoodScarsEvilScars: Under his left eye [[spoiler:courtesy of a throwing knife from Piastol]]. Vyse barely remembers how he got it.
* GuestFighter: He's a driver in ''[[VideoGame/SegaSuperstars Sonic All-Star Racing: Transformed]]'', complete with a race track around Pirate Isle.
* HeroicBSOD: A minor one near the end of the story. [[spoiler:Galcian is set to take over the world, with an entire armada at his beck and call, an Atlantis-like continent as his fortress, said fortress protected by an shield (which the heroes have already tried, and failed, to breach), and an ancient superweapon that he has already used to wipe out Valua. While Vyse isn't keen on giving up, he's also realistic enough to know that he and his crew don't stand a chance against odds like that. It's the only time in the game that we see him at a loss for a course of action.]]
* HeroesLoveDogs: If you recruit Pow, he continues to sail with Vyse long after the story's over.
* HopeBringer: Presented this way quite a bit. Whenever his crew feels like giving up, Vyse is there to give it a shot and inspire them. One of the quotes from the man himself is "Impossible is just a word people use to feel good about themselves when they quit." Vyse's speech to the citizens of Esperanza exemplifies this, as he refuses to believe that there's no way through the Dark Rift, and shames the collection of washed-up sailors for inaction.
* JumpedAtTheCall: When the opportunity came to go into Valua and rescue his friends? When the chance came to get the Moon Crystals and go against the most powerful empire on the planet? When the opportunity to steal the best ship in said Empire presented itself? Vyse not only jumped, he jumped head-first.
* JustLikeRobinHood: He's a Blue Rogue, a faction of air pirates that prides themselves on only stealing from people who deserve it.
* TheKirk: Of the FreudianTrio he forms with Aika and Fina.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: Despite being a {{Determinator}}, Vyse knows that there's a fine line between daring and suicidal. He never undertakes anything without putting together some sort of plan, and recognizes that there are times when the best course of action is to retreat. Notably, when facing TheDragon Galcian and the gigantic whale Rhaknam, Vyse wisely decides to book it rather than fight. [[spoiler:Also, when facing Ramirez for the first time, you're giving the option to surrender or fight a HopelessBossFight. The response that increases Vyse's [[KarmaMeter Swashbuckler Rating]] is to surrender.]]
* LivingLegend: He gains the title of Vyse the Legend if the player reaches a swashbuckler rating high enough (in the Dreamcast version) or if they have attained OneHundredPercentCompletion (in the Gamecube version).
* LovableRogue: There doesn't seem to be a single person that Vyse comes across who isn't admiring him, on some level, by the end of the story. Even his enemies start to regard him as a WorthyOpponent.
* OlderIsBetter: Downplayed. Vyse freely admits that [[CoolAirship the Delphinius]] is a fantastic ship, but he muses during the game that he finds he prefers the feeling of old-fashioned wood and sail vessels to the modern ironclad battleship. [[spoiler:True to form, during the epilogue, he lets Enrique keep it, and has gotten ahold of a traditional wooden ship to sail on to further adventures, albeit with a fair bit of iron plating for protection's sake.]]
* TheParagon: Should be the poster boy for this trope since he convinces the entire world to stand against Valua.
* ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything: Averted at the beginning where he and his father's crew attack Alfonso and steal his goods. He's busy with Fina's quest for the rest of the game, but the player can still attack black pirate or military ships.
* PlayingWithFire: He learns red (fire) spells faster than the other 5 elements, at a slightly faster rate than Fina.
* RazorWind: Involved in some of his S-moves.
* RedBaron: Swashbuckler ranks and feats in the world change his title, culminating in Vyse the Legend. In the Dreamcast version, it's just the highest rank, easily obtainable by making correct dialogue choices throughout the game. The Gamecube remake adds several special titles for various accomplishments, and Vyse the Legend is awarded to a player who manages to get OneHundredPercentCompletion.
* RelationshipValues: The way people respond to Vyse depends entirely on his swashbuckler rating, which rises (or falls), depending on the following criteria:
** How well he responds during PC's (private conversation) with his crewmen and NPC's. You'll know by the chime if you've selected the proper response in each dialog tree. In most cases, it's the one that's the most polite/or supportive.
** Your success rate in battle. To keep your rating high, be sure to heal party members in timely fashion, relieve them of any status ailments right away, and don't let them get KO'd too often.
** Fleeing from a losing battle, while advisable, can and ''will'' start to count against Vyse if done too often.[[note]]This can even earn him the title of "Vyse the Cowardly" if you overdo it.[[/note]] Likewise, locals will start to lose respect for Vyse if his party only targets weaker enemies, whereas fighting stronger ones will cause his esteem to rise in their eyes.
* ReverseGrip: Kind of a variant; he holds his blocking sword by the cross-guard with the blade "covering" his forearm, tonfa-style. With his main weapon, he tends to switch back and forth between regular and reverse grip for different attacks.
* ShockAndAwe: Even though he learns fire magic the fastest, his specials are mostly electricity-based.
* ShroudedInMyth: At higher Swashbuckler ratings, the rumors of Vyse's exploits get pretty wild.
* SmallStepsHero: He will never sacrifice a life. Either he saves everyone, or he dies trying.
* SuggestiveCollision: Seen when he leaps from the elevator rail, just as it collapses from beneath him, during the crew's escape from Dangral Island. Aika attempts to catch him, but he lands directly on top of her instead—right between her legs.
* SwordBeam: When attacking from a distance.
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: An NPC lampshades this if you keep picking the right Swashbuckler options.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TomokoKawakami (original game), Saki Yasuda (''VideoGame/ValkyriaChronicles''), Mai Todo (''VideoGame/ValkyriaChroniclesIII'') (Japanese), Victoria [=McCreary=] (original game), Creator/GreyDeLisle (Valkyria Chronicles) (English)

Vyse's childhood friend, who lost her parents when she was little. A tomboyish air pirate who loves treasure almost as much as she loves her friends, but she can't swim and is terrified of ghosts. She moves quickly and fights with a large boomerang.
----
* AnimeHair: Given the length and volume of her pigtails, it's a wonder how her hair sticks out the way it does. This is the reason Marco says she has "hair like a scarecrow" when he first sees her, and one of the children from Yafutoma even asks [[LampshadeHanging what she eats to make it stiff enough to do that.]]
* AttemptedRape: While it's mainly [[BlackComedyRape treated as comical]], the game makes Vigoro's intentions clear by having him send the guards away. Then he corners Aika in her cell while leering at her, followed by a ScreamDiscretionShot [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBbu7tA0bcw (from 2:05-3:07).]] But Vyse and Gilder intervene before he gets the chance.
* {{BFS}}: In the form of a big-ass boomerang that's more than half her body length in size. Yet, she can heft it with one hand.
* ButtMonkey: She tends to be the butt of whatever comedy happens up until Enrique joins the party.
* ChildhoodFriends: She and Vyse have known each other since they were kids, and this can lead into a [[spoiler:ChildhoodFriendRomance depending on the player's interpretation. Although it's more apparent from Aika's side since she's the one with the initiative.]]
* CombatMedic: {{Subverted}}. Though she learns green magic, which is primarily healing spells, faster than anyone else, Fina is the one who actually serves as the party's dedicated healer.
* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: It's never said who her parents were or what became of them. All that's known is that Dyne took it upon himself to look after her.
* CrutchCharacter: Downplayed, but present. Particularly in the early game, her Alpha Storm Super Move will do a decent chunk of damage and can clear out several monsters at once. Throughout the game, she's really good at wiping through random encounters that don't resist fire with her S-Moves, but tends to be less useful as a damage dealer against bosses, instead playing more of a support function, using her Delta Shield, buff magic, and items in conjunction with her high speed, in which role she is competent and useful without being nearly as effective as she used to be.
* FashionableAsymmetry: She wears a single leather glove for her throwing arm, along with a single blue bracelet around her right wrist.
* FieryRedhead: Only in regards to Vigoro, [[AbhorrentAdmirer who disgusts her]] because how crudely (and strongly) he tries to come onto her. She also gets a bit jealous [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMaksOZp7M8 when she catches Vyse staring at Belleza]]'s belly-dancing in Maramba.
* FirstKiss: She gives hers to [[spoiler:Vyse]] on the night before the battle with the Hydra Fortress, assuming [[spoiler:[[RelationshipValues his Swashbuckler rating]] is high enough]].
* FragileSpeedster: Agility and dodge are her primary stats, helping her clear random encounters very quickly.
* GenkiGirl: A very enthusiastic PirateGirl. One of her victory animations has her jumping up and down shouting "We won! We won!"
* GivingSomeoneThePointerFinger: On the American Dreamcast box art.
* GirlNextDoor: Both literally and figuratively speaking.
** Her house is actually next door to the Dyne family's back on Pirate Isle. Later, once Vyse establishes their new HQ on Crescent Isle, her flat is across from his, on the villa's second floor.
** In terms of attractiveness, she has [[UnkemptBeauty a tomboyish charm]] about her that's been noted as being reminiscent of Pippi Longstocking. Her hips and legs are said to be the most notable aspects of her figure.
* TheGlomp: She immediately hugs Vyse and Drachma upon reuniting with them after they go missing and their fate is uncertain.
* GogglesDoNothing: They're just there as part of her look.
* HotBlooded: She's an [[SkyPirate Air Pirate.]] Made apparent from the opening cinematic, where she's included in the boarding party that raids Alfonso's ship. And she's [[JumpedAtTheCall the first to join Vyse's crew]] once he finally sets off on his own.
* HyperCompetentSidekick: Not evident in a normal run of the game, as Vyse has a good head on his shoulders, but ''very'' evident in a run with a low Swashbuckler rank. Any time the player makes a bad decision during Swashbuckler choices, Aika is typically the one to pick up the slack and get the plot back on track.
* ImagineSpot: Has, shall we say, a ''vivid'' imagination when it comes to foreign cultures. In summary, she predicts the desert heat will immolate Vyse instantly; that she will be eaten by monsters in the jungle (though that's largely Vyse hijacking her endless food fantasy); that she will be eaten by ''fish-people'' in Yafutoma; and that the arctic cold [[BookEnds will cause Vyse to freeze instantly]].
* InformedFlaw: It's only mentioned briefly, when she and Vyse reach the lower levels of Shrine Island and see that it's flooded. Aika has had a fear of water, ever since she fell into a well on Pirate Isle when she was a kid and had to be saved by Dyne. As a result, she hasn't learned how to swim. So they look for a way to drain the water to proceed further into the shrine.
* InvincibilityPowerUp: Epsilon Mirror renders her immune to all damage and status effects for the duration of the turn that it's used, but it prevents her from being able to attack or counterattack until her next turn.
* ItsAllMyFault: She hasn't forgotten the incident 10 years ago, when [[spoiler:she boarded a ship without her weapons, since it was supposed to have been a rescue mission. Aika was caught off-guard by [[OptionalBoss Piastol]], who assumed the Blue Rogues were the ones who'd attacked her father's ship. She responded by attempting to kill Aika with one of her daggers, but Vyse threw himself in between them, resulting in the scar under his left eye]]. Though Vyse doesn't hold her responsible, Aika has never forgiven herself for it.
* TheLancer: Compared to Vyse's cool and collected personality, she's more hyper and excitable.
* LettingHerHairDown: Undoes her hair stalks when she goes to bed. Notably, men aren't allowed to glimpse her in this state (and if Vyse does, he takes a pounding for his trouble).
* LadyLegionnaireWear: The non-armor variant.
* LegFocus: Vigoro says she has nice legs when he first sees her. According to him, she's also got hips to match.
* LovableRogue: She's sassy and [[PluckyGirl spunky]], with an unending thirst for treasure. However, like all Blue Rogues, she's got a heart of gold and [[JustLikeRobinhood is always willing to lend a hand to those who need it.]]
* {{Lunacy}}: Aika directly calls upon the power of the Red Moon for her Omega Psyclone attack.
* LustObject: For Vigoro, who becomes fixated on Aika the moment he lays eyes on her and is stopped mere moments away from trying to [[spoiler:rape her]] while she's being held captive in the Grand Fortress. Later, when he and Belleza run into her again at Yafutoma, Vigoro invites her back to his ship [[DoubleEntendre so they can "rock the boat".]]
* TheMcCoy: of the FreudianTrio she forms with Vyse and Fina.
* MiniDressOfPower: Strong and wears a short dress.
* ModestyShorts: As seen, she wears a black pair of shorts under her skirt.
* NumberTwo: She serves as [[TheCaptain Vyse's]] Vice-Captain and as the ship's navigator.
* OneOfTheBoys: She grew up on Pirate Isle with Vsye's family and has served aboard the Albatross for as long as he has, though Vyse is still careful to respect her privacy as a lady.
* PlatonicLifePartners: With Vyse. While the game is vague on the whole Romance thing, it's clear that the two have an incredibly strong bond of trust with each other.
* PlayingWithFire: Three of her SP moves (Alpha Storm, Lambda Burst, and Omega Psyclone) are all fire attacks, with varying degrees of [[AreaOfEffect AoE.]]
* PirateGirl: An [[SkyPirate Air Pirate]], to be precise.
* PluckyComicRelief: If anything bad can happen, she'll usually be the one it happens to—at least, until Enrique joins the party and essentially takes over as the [[ButtMonkey designated victim.]]
* PrecisionGuidedBoomerang: Seen in her basic attack animation and her Omega Psyclone SP move.
* RummageSaleReject: Combined with FashionableAsymmetry.
* SuggestiveCollision: Seen during the escape from Dangral Island, when she attempts to catch Vyse as he leaps from the elevator rail. The collision [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything sprawls Aika on her back, with Vyse top of her instead—directly between her spread legs.]] She didn't seem to mind, or possibly there's enough else going on to distract her from it.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The game portrays Aika as the energetic skyfaring GirlNextDoor in contrast to Fina, who's soft-spoken, shy, and demure.
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: She's an Air Pirate, no doubt, and even Vyse knows not to get on her bad side, but she exhibits feminine traits too, like her earrings and the hair ribbons she wears at the ends of her pigtails. And while she'll readily take on the Valuan Armada, she's afraid of ghosts. Complimentary material also reveals that her strength is self-styled cooking. This trait of her is brought up by Vyse if the player checks the vanity in her house:
-->'''Vyse:''' "What's this? I didn't know Aika had a vanity. I guess even she can be feminine at times."
* WhatTheHellHero: Directed at [[spoiler:Elder Prime]] when Aika finds out he and the others [[spoiler:used Fina to gather the Moon Crystals for them, without telling her what their real intentions were]].
-->'''Aika: (in disbelief)''' "You... you ''[[UnwittingPawn used]]'' her... That's terrible!"
* WingdingEyes: Invoked when she and Vyse leap onto the monorail to rescue Fina before it can reach the Grand Fortress. Vyse nails the landing, while Aika {{faceplant}}s. When she gets up she has spiral eyes and needs Vyse's help to maintain her balance.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YuiHorie (Japanese), Julissa Aguirre (English)

A mysterious girl from the Silver Civilization, on a mission to recover the 6 moon crystals before [[EvilEmpire the Valuan Empire]] does. She knows very little about the world outside her homeland. She is adept at magic and fights with her pet, [[NonHumanSidekick Cupil]].
----
* CallingTheOldManOut: [[spoiler:She calls out Elder Prime for wishing to reset the world, having learned that there were good people in Arcadia]].
* CleavageWindow: A {{Downplayed|Trope}} variation, as it's there so [[spoiler:her shard of the Silver Moon Crystal has a place to exit from]].
* CombatMedic: Despite being a Silvite, she learns Green magic at a faster rate than she learns Silver magic.
** Also, whereas Vyse and Aika learn three attack-based Super Moves and two support-based ones (dropped to two attacks and one support for Drachma, Gilder, and Enrique), Fina is the opposite, learning three healing-based Super Moves (one for regeneration, one that's a multi-target Curia spell, and one that revives and heals everyone) and two attack ones. The two attack spells are also rather weak in their own right, and are more meant to hamper the enemy than devastatingly damage them. Lunar Glyph can petrify an enemy—something that the party generally cannot do otherwise—and Lunar Winds removes enemy status buffs. The latter comes in handy [[spoiler:in the final boss fight against Ramirez, as he will cast a regeneration move on himself every so often.]]
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: Used as a RunningGag. Since she isn't from Arcadia, she doesn't understand many of their customs and expressions. So [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments whenever Aika tries to explain what they mean]], it goes completely over Fina's head.
* CoolAirship: Hers is the only one capable of [[spoiler:exiting the atmosphere]].
* DistressedDamsel: Twice early on and then once more later.
* GodGuise: She's mistaken for a god by the people of Ixa'taka.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Fina only has the best of intentions in gathering the Moon Crystals and plans to take them to [[spoiler:the Silver Shrine]] so that they can never be used to [[spoiler:awaken the Gigas again]].
-->"(Fina is) very quiet, but the smile she shows at times makes you feel her kind heart."
* HeroicBSOD: She's left so devastated by [[spoiler:the Elders' betrayal of her trust and Ramirez murdering Elder Prime]] that she locks herself away in the meeting room after returning from [[spoiler:the Silver Shrine]], not knowing what to believe anymore. She eventually recovers.
* IChooseToStay: [[spoiler:With the Elders dead and the Silver Shrine no more, she has no home to return to, so she asks Vyse and Aika if she can continue to sail with them. They gladly accept and welcome her as an official member of their crew]].
* TheIngenue: Very innocent, sweet, polite, and idealistic.
* LastOfHerKind: [[spoiler:By the end of the game, she's the sole surviving member of the Silver civilization]].
* LightIsGood: Noted in the HairOfGoldHeartOfGold entry.
* LiteralMinded: Largely due to being sheltered for most of her life, which is why she fails to understand what Aika and the others mean when they try to explain certain things to her.
* LivingMacGuffin: Even more so once [[spoiler:Ramirez reveals that all Silvites have a Silver Moon Crystal within their bodies]].
* {{Lunacy}}: All of Fina's Super Moves call directly on the power of the Silver Moon.
* MagikarpPower: Cupil, her "weapon", is relatively weak unless you max it out, at which point it becomes the strongest weapon in the game.
* MorphWeapon: Doubles as her NonHumanSidekick.
* MysteriousWaif: Her true origins will be fairly obvious to the player, but in-universe, Vyse and the others are clueless as to where she's from or why the Valuan Empire seems hellbent to capture her.
* NiceGirl: She's the gentlest character in the game along with Urala. Her character profile makes mention of her kind heart, which people can feel when she smiles.
* NonHumanSidekick: Cupil has been Fina's constant companion since she was a child.
* PimpedOutDress: As seen, she's garbed in white that's embroidered in gold trim and bracelets.
* PirateGirl: Which serves as a BrickJoke, though you don't get to see it until [[spoiler:the epilogue cutscene]], when she and Cupil officially become a part of Vyse's crew.
* ProperLady: Lampshaded by Belleza, who describes Fina as "shy and demure". Also, when thanking someone, she clasps both hands to her chest and makes a polite bow or curtsey.
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: She wears white leggings beneath her gown to preserve her modesty.
* SexyBacklessOutfit: The back of her gown leaves her upper back and shoulders exposed, which is the most skin you'll see from her [[spoiler:until the ending, in which she switches to a [[BareMidriffsAreFeminine midriff-baring pirate garb]].]]
* ShrinkingViolet: Before she opens up to the Blue Rogues. Justified by the fact that she has lived most of her life in the isolation of the Silver Civilization and has been warned that people in Arcadia are selfish and primitive.
* SilkHidingSteel: Has a soft, feminine personality, but her refusal to bend under pressure is quite remarkable. And badass. She tells off the '''Empress of Valua''' IN HER OWN COURT for her misuse of the crystals.
** Shown off even earlier when she is being interrogated by Dyne after being rescued.
--->'''Dyne''': "Is it because we are Air Pirates? Don't you trust us?"
--->'''Fina''': "No, that has nothing to do with it. I thank you with all my heart for saving my life, but I cannot tell any living soul about the purpose of my quest. Even if it means sacrificing my own life. I have no intention of endangering any of your lives. If you believe anything that I say, please believe this."
--->'''Dyne''': *{{beat}}* "All right, then. Heh. Looks like I lost this one."
* TheSpock: Of the FreudianTrio she forms with Vyse and Aika.
* SquishyWizard: Her magic is the strongest in the game, but she needs time to cast and protection while doing so, especially during boss battles and '''[[OptionalBoss WANTED]]''' missions. She also ties with Enrique for having the lowest physical defense stat in the game. So if she takes a hit while she isn't guarding or without "Justice Shield", odds are she's gonna be KO'd.
* SupportPartyMember: All but one of Fina's S-Moves are powerful healing or cleansing abilities, and the lone exception does middling damage at best but has a chance to apply a status effect. While she gets ''some'' magical affinities for doing damage too, her status as the party's de-facto mage also makes her well-suited to other forms of support.
* TenderTears:
** Seen when Vyse and Aika rescue her from the train in Valua. Fina's so touched by it that [[TearfulSmile she smiles tearfully]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ON3CT3DByso sniffles.]]
** She cries a bit when she reunites with Vyse after he went missing and his fate was uncertain.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The game emphasizes Fina's more feminine qualities, such as her shyness and humility, as opposed to Aika, who's essentially one of the guys, [[RaisedByDudes having been raised among air pirates.]] Her profile in complimentary material also states that [[AthleticallyChallenged she's poor at physical exercise,]] and her {{Leitmotif}} emphasizes her delicateness and innocence.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: Now and then, somebody makes a big deal over how they've never seen clothes like hers before, but it's not particularly often.
* UnwittingPawn: [[spoiler:To The Elders of the Silver Shrine, who are using Fina's naivete to their advantage by allowing her to believe she is gathering the Moon Crystals to prevent them from ever being used again. In truth, the Elders are planning to summon the Rains of Destruction themselves]].
* WasItAllALie: [[spoiler:When Elder Prime finally reveals the true reason they sent Fina to gather the Moon Crystals, she's left speechless in abject horror and disbelief that they used her. Though Aika is the one who lampshades it]]:
-->'''Aika: (in disbelief)''' "You... you ''used'' her... [[WhatTheHellHero That's terrible!"]]
* TheWatson: As a Silvite, Fina is totally in the dark with regard to Arcadia and its rules.
* VirginInAWhiteDress: Wears white from her veil down to her shoes, and is a sweet and innocent young girl.
* WhiteMagicianGirl: Fina is an unfailingly kind and polite [[TheIngenue Ingénue]] who learns Green and Silver magic, the healing elements, the fastest and whose final special move is the ultimate full party heal.
* YinYangBomb: Because [[SquishyWizard she learns all magic quickly]], she learns Silver (light/darkness or "Void") magic much faster than the other characters do.

An old fisherman who lost his arm, eye, [[spoiler:and son]] to a giant arcwhale named Rhaknam. His life's goal is to hunt down Rhaknam to avenge his loss. He saves Vyse and Aika when they have a run-in with the arcwhale and reluctantly becomes wrapped up in their quest. He fights with his giant metal arm. [[spoiler:He gives up hunting Rhaknam when the arcwhale saves his life and his ship. In the epilogue, spends his last days as a fisherman in honor of Jack and Rhaknam.]]
----
* AnimalNemesis: He's Captain Ahab to Rhaknam's Moby Dick. Notably, Rhaknam is called Mobys in Japan.
* ArtificialLimbs: His arm.
* TheCaptain: Of his own certified CoolBoat, the ''Little Jack''. He's called this by Vyse, Aika, and Fina even after they're no longer his crew.
* ConscienceMakesYouGoBack: Sourly ditches Vyse and co. in Maramba, stranding them. Fortunately, he turns his ship around when he learns Belleza's in the area.
* CoolAirship: The ''Little Jack'', [[spoiler:named after the son he lost along with his arm and eye]].
* CoolOldGuy: An old sailor with a vendetta who takes the protagonist under his wing for a while.
* CrashIntoHello: Vyse and Aika do the crashing, the ''Little Jack'' does the being crashed into.
* CrutchCharacter: Early in the game, he'll be something like 4 levels higher than the rest of the party, and is tanky enough to solo some bosses. He can't be relied on, as he enters and leaves the party whenever he feels like it, which is often.
* DopeSlap: Frequently conks Vyse across the head with his metal hand. Keep your hands on the wheel! ''CLANG''
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: He saves Vyse and Aika from Rhaknam at the cost of losing his chance at hunting the whale. Then when Vyse proclaims his thanks to the old captain for the rescue, Drachma lashes out and punches the boy in the face because he lost his quarry due to saving them. Yes, Drachma's a good person but hunting that whale is his life mission and he will ''not'' be happy if you get in the way of that.
* EyepatchOfPower: He got a spiffy mechanical arm out of the incident where he lost his eye, too...
* {{Expy}}: He's [[Literature/MobyDick Captain Ahab]], chasing after his version of Moby Dick.
* TheFerryman: He serves this role towards Vyse during the early portion of the game.
* GoingDownWithTheShip: [[spoiler:The ''Little Jack'' is seemingly destroyed when Ramirez opens fire on it. Drachma, unwilling to lose his quarry a second time, forces Vyse, Aika, and Fina onto lifeboats and remains behind on the flaming ship.]]
* GoodIsNotNice: Not above threatening people with death [[PerpSweating unless they tell him what he needs to know]]. He even does this with ''[[WouldHurtAChild Marco]]''.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: Has a large scar over his missing eye.
* HookHand: One of his early upgrades.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Acts gruff and standoffish, but ultimately comes to care a lot for Vyse, Aika, and Fina.
* JoinedYourParty: He falls in and out of the party early on, and when he finally rejoins for good, this is noted as "Drachma joined your party... [[LampshadeHanging again]]."
* LifeWillKillYou: [[spoiler:The WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue reveals that he eventually died from old age after spending the rest of his life as a fisherman, and becomes a legend.]]
* LikeASonToMe: Secretly views Vyse in this way, though it takes him an age to admit it.
* MakingASplash: He learns all types of magic very slowly, but he learns blue (water) magic faster than the other types.
* MightyGlacier: The slowest playable character, but very bulky and powerful.
* MobySchtick: His entire subplot is this. [[spoiler:Though unlike Ahab, Drachma eventually makes peace with Rhaknam in the latter's final moments.]]
* NeverFoundTheBody: [[spoiler:The Captain seemingly perishes in his final duel with Rhaknam. In truth, Rhaknam [[{{Irony}} towed him safely]] all the way to the polar ice cap.]]
* NotInThisForYourRevolution: Drachma's only along for the ride until he gets another shot at Rhaknam. This ain't no RV. [[spoiler:He rejoins the party for the attack on Galcian's fleet]].
* ObiWanMoment: [[spoiler:Gives Vyse a quick smile (his only one in the game) before being dragged away by Rhaknam.]]
* OldSoldier: Old ''Sailor'' in this case, but he fits the trope for his advanced age, experience in a dangerous occupation and grizzled nature.
* PerpetualFrowner: Drachma smiles exactly once in the entire game.
* PowerFist: His arm attachments are his weapons.
** His final super move "Hand of Fate" equips him with one bigger than he is to literally [[SquashedFlat flatten]] his target.
* RedBaron: Valua lists him as "One-Armed Drachma."
* RocketPunch: Can fire his weapon attachment on a wire to attack from range.
* TeamDad: Though he resents it.
* ThisIsADrill: One of his weapon attachments. With a random chance of [[OneHitKill instakill]], too.
* StabTheSky: One of his victory poses.

An easygoing air pirate captain who lives in pursuit of excitement (and pretty women). He's one of the most famous Blue Rogues in the skies, and is on the run from a girl from back home who is determined to marry him. He rescues Vyse from a deserted island and fights with a pistol.
----
* BadassLongcoat: It's red and looks pretty much exactly like what you'd picture upon hearing the words "pirate coat."
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Doesn't look like much, but he forms a plan to escape the Valuan Grand Fortress quickly.
* TheCaptain: Of his CoolBoat, the ''Claudia''.
* TheCasanova: Normally, he's portrayed as more of a ChivalrousPervert, but he does have some choice lines, including his infamous motto...
-->"Women are like sunsets.... They're beautiful, but there will be a different one tomorrow."
* ChekhovsGunman: If one checks the wanted list on Sailor's Island (a pretty early destination in the game), they'll find Gilder's name on there. Around the halfway point, he finally shows up.
* ChivalrousPervert: As evidenced by his mancave—er, the bridge of his ship.
* CoolAirship: The ''Claudia''.
* CoolShades: His glasses are slightly tinted.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: He has a pet parrot named Willy. And he's a ChivalrousPervert.
* EarlyBirdCameo: In the Gamecube version, you can find his name on a wanted list early on in the game.
* FunPersonified: He's laid back and really only became a pirate to seek a good time.
* GangstaStyle: At close range, though for him, this means his gun is essentially right in the enemy's face. At long range (which he prefers), he uses a much more practical two-handed grip.
* GunsAkimbo: One of Gilder's special moves.
* GunshipRescue: What else would you call his S-move Claudia, when it involves the titular ship [[MoreDakka shelling your foes with every cannon it's got?]]
* TheGunslinger: Fights with a pistol.
* AnIcePerson: Gilder learns purple (ice) magic faster than the other types.
* LetsDance: This is the phrase that Gilder says whenever he uses the "Gunslinger" super move attack.
* LovableRogue: Nice and personable, but still a pirate.
* PirateParrot: Named Willy.
* MoreDakka: "Come on...[[BulletDancing dance for me]]." "You mess with me, you mess with ''Claudia''!"
* NoGuyWantsToBeChased: Jumped shore and became a pirate just to get as far away from ''Clara'' as humanly possible. This just made Clara want to find him more. He's actually fond of her, but not ready to settle down yet.
* NoKillLikeOverkill: See MoreDakka.
* RebelRelaxation: How he frequently stands on the ''Delphinus''.
* RedBaron: His epithet is "the Unfettered."
* SenseiForScoundrels:
** "Women are like sunsets...They're beautiful, but there will be a different one tomorrow." Are you getting this down, kid?
** Advises Vyse on the importance of finding a crew and a base, as well as never giving up; but he's considerably more hands-off than most mentors.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: It was supposed to be "Guilder."
* TheUnfettered: It's his epithet.
* VitriolicBestBuds: He has an odd relationship with Clara.

The ruler of the Valuan Empire and Enrique's mother, Teodora is a ruthless woman who will stop at nothing to unite the world under Valuan rule, as she believes is her destiny. She wants the moon crystals to aid in her goal, so she can threaten anyone who would dare resist her by unleashing a Gigas.
----
%% * AristocratsAreEvil: She's high-class and definitely evil.
* BigBad: Directly responsible for all of the Valuan invasions that take place over the course of the game.
* BigBadWannabe: [[spoiler:Is eventually revealed to be this once Galcian proves himself to be [[EvilerThanThou Eviler Than Her]].]]
* TheCaligula: Not outright insane, but self-absorbed, short-tempered, petty, and drunk with power.

* DeathByIrony: [[spoiler:Crushed beneath the columns of her own throne dais]].
* ElderlyBlueHairedLady: Well, more like purple, but more or less.
%% * EvilMatriarch: To Enrique.
%% * EvilOldFolks: Elderly and evil.
%% * ExcessiveEvilEyeshadow: Never seen without it.
* FluffyFashionFeathers: Wears an extremely fancy outfit, as befitting the monarch of the most powerful empire in the world.
* GodSaveUsFromTheQueen: She's evil, tyrannical with a hair-trigger temper at the slightest offense, and quick to have the offending party [[OffWithHisHead put to death.]]
* HairTriggerTemper: Nearly orders the beheading of Fina, the key agent to Valua's ''entire quest for global dominance'', because the girl spoke out of turn.
* TheHeavy: Despite being a NonActionBigBad, her choices and orders are what drive the plot.
%% * HighCollarOfDoom: Part of her dress.
* IWasQuiteALooker: According to some of her subjects.
* LoveMakesYouEvil: Implied that her husband's death is what spurred her StartOfDarkness.
* MoralityChain: Her late husband appears to have been one for her.
* NonActionBigBad: You'll only ever see her in cutscenes.
* ObviouslyEvil: Made apparent from her introductory cutscene, not that she ever pretends otherwise.
* ParentalNeglect: Well, Enrique is already a grown man by the time the game begins, but it's pretty clear she's too self-absorbed to pay much attention to him.
* PimpedOutDress: You wouldn't expect subtlety from the Empress of Valua, would you?
* PurpleIsPowerful: She's an empress, and her dress is mostly purple.
* RequisiteRoyalRegalia: Never seen without a circlet and sceptre.
* TheUnfought: The crew never gets the chance to face her directly. Instead, she [[spoiler:dies when Galcian summons the Rains of Destruction on the Imperial Capital]]. She is even surrounded by unfought EliteMooks with a unique model.

The idealistic prince of Valua. Unlike the rest of the Valuan leadership, he advocates prosperity through more peaceful methods (such as diplomacy), and strongly believes that his country's current path will lead to ruin. However, his mother dismisses his concerns as being foolish and naive. He fights with rapiers and sabers.
----
* AndTheAdventureContinues: [[spoiler:After marrying Moegi, he sets off with her to rebuild what's left of Valua.]]
* AntagonisticOffspring: Reluctantly, since he's run out of options to convince his mother to stop her imperialistic ambitions.
* TheAtoner: As crowned prince of Valua, Enrique feels he must make amends for the atrocities committed by the Imperial Family and their armada. When he learns that Vyse and his crew were being held prisoner at the Grand Fortress, he makes arrangements to help them escape and returns the red and green Moon Crystals to them as well. Then asks to join them and even loans them the use of his personal flagship: the Delphinus.
* {{Bathos}}: It's clear that he's desperately trying to come off as cool at times, especially in his Special Moves, but a lot of the time it doesn't quite work... [[TheyPlottedAPerfectlyGoodWaste this is entirely in-keeping with his awkward mannerisms]].
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Enrique honestly thought he could convince his mother ''not'' to harness the Gigas after returning to Valua? [[spoiler:He wanted to ''try'', because she's his mother, but he considered failure a possibility and was ready to kill her if she didn't agree.]]
* BeyondRedemption: Eventually, Enrique sees he can't talk his mother out of her madness, and becomes a DefectorFromDecadence (pulling a HeelFaceTurn at the same time) by joining Vyse's crew and helping him steal the Delphinus. [[spoiler:Upon going back to Valua after Teodora plans to summon each Gigas, Enrique tries one last time to talk Teodora into not following through with it, but she still refuses to listen. Finally fed up, Enrique draws his sword and prepares to [[SelfMadeOrphan kill his own mother to stop Valua's madness]]. Too bad for Enrique that Belleza knocks him out before he can, but the intent was still there.]]
* ButtMonkey: To Aika, who pokes fun at his airsickness and his attempts to look cool in front of Princess Moegi. Also, during one of their boarding scenes, she gives him a smack on the back that causes him to {{faceplant}} [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments on the deck of the enemy's ship.]]
* DeclarationOfProtection: When Muraji taunts Princess Moegi about their betrothal and her exiled brother, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8tf4FQWMeo Enrique comes to her defense]], which sends Muraji scurrying away with his tail between his legs.
* DefectorFromDecadence: He is perhaps the only man of honor in Valua's government. When he sees that everyone else is too far gone to be helped, he decides that they're BeyondRedemption and pulls a HeelFaceTurn.
* DorkKnight: Yes, he's brave and chivalrous, but his attempts to look cool in front of Princess Moegi end up being comical. Which Aika gets a kick out of watching.
* FatherIDontWantToFight: Enrique doesn't approve of his mother's thirst for conquest and tries to make her understand how it's hurting their people and their country's image. He'd much rather be a diplomat. But since she won't listen to him, he eventually takes matters into his own hands by defecting to the Blue Rogues.
* {{Irony}}: {{Justified|Trope}} due to his sheltered upbringing, but he actually had a bad case of airsickness in a world where flying is the de-facto mode of transport. He gets over it in the end.
* HappilyEverAfter: He weds Princess Moegi during the game's ending.
* JackOfAllStats: Capable of using both offensive magic and physical attacks fairly effectively, but he's a bit slower than average to compensate, and his defense is often on par with [[FragileSpeedster Aika's]].
* LoveAtFirstSight: It's obvious from the moment he first sees Princess Moegi. From then on, he all but becomes [[DorkKnight her 'knight in shining armor'.]]
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: "Justice Shield" is one of the most invaluable SP moves in the game, because it automatically allows him to take his turn first[[note]]which is superseded only by Aika's "Delta Shield"[[/note]] and reduces all physical damage by one half. You'll often need it to survive the game's tougher challenges - like the '''[[OptionalBoss WANTED]]''' missions.
-->'''Enrique:''' "May righteousness be our shield... Shield of Justice!"
* OlderThanTheyLook: While he appears (probably due to his sheltered upbringing) to be about the same age as the 17-year-old Vyse, Aika, and Fina, he's actually 25.
* PrinceCharming: Friendly, chivalrous, and kind, charming not only Moegi but even ''her brother'', who starts shipping the two of them soon after meeting him.
* RoyalRapier: His weapon is quite the contrast with the commoner pirate's cutlass. He's a prince, after all.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: After defecting to Vyse's crew, Enrique acts as ambassador on behalf of Valua, whenever they visit foreign lands, and fights to put an end to his mother's tyranny.
* ShelteredAristocrat:
** Enrique lives a very sheltered life until his defection from Valua, but he shows a great deal of understanding and respect for most commoners. He is not a [[TheWisePrince wise prince]] either, though, as he does not share that archetype's traditional level of melancholia.
** Humorously, he also has a problem with airsickness when he first joins.
* ShockAndAwe: He learns yellow (electric) magic the fastest, even at a rate quicker than Fina.
* SixthRanger: The last person to join Vyse's "raiding party", as it were.
* StabTheSky: One of his victory poses.
* SummonMagic: His S-move ''The Judgement'' summons a huge sky wyrm to crash down on his enemy.
* SwordBeam: When attacking from a distance.
* TokenEnemyMinority: One of few heroic characters from Valua.
* TookALevelInBadass: The Blue Rogues, Aika in particular, take perverse pleasure in breaking him in, though Enrique endures his hazing like a champ. He gradually overcomes his air sickness to where he can stand proudly on the ''Delphinus''' deck with the poise of a Naval commander.

Grand Admiral of the Valuan Armada, Lord Galcian is loyal to one thing and one thing only: power. Cold, calculating, and utterly ruthless, he intends to bring the entire world under the control of the Armada and is pursuing the moon crystals towards that end. His flagships are the ''Serpent'' and the ''Hydra'' which, like all Valuan ships, are named for constellations.
----
* AllEncompassingMantle: Galcian always travels in style while wearing a gold-embroided cloak with [[HighCollarOfDoom a giant red collar]]. [[spoiler:He ditches it after committing treason against Valua.]]
* ArmiesAreEvil: The Armada essentially goes rogue in Disc 2, with the entire fleet emigrating to Soltis with Galcian. [[spoiler:Valua is disposed of]] like so much used kleenex.
* AuthorityEqualsAssKicking: Head of the Armada for a good reason.
* BeardOfEvil: Sports one.
* {{BFS}}: Particularly stands out since almost every other hand-to-hand combat weapon is a realistic size.
* BigBad: By virtue of being the most prominent antagonist faced by the MainCharacters and by [[spoiler:having the ambition to kill his Empress and rule the world]]. He succeeds in doing the former and takes the position of head of the [[spoiler:Armada]].
* BigWhat: Screams this [[OhCrap in horror]] when [[spoiler:Belleza rams her ship]] into his.
* ClimaxBoss: [[spoiler:The showdown against the Armada and then Galcian himself is the climax of the whole plot up to that point, consisting of three airship battles, the last against Galcian's flagship, and then a battle in person on his ship's deck. 390* TheCoatsAreOff: Right before a battle.
* DarkMessiah: Belleza and Ramirez consider him one.
* DeathCryEcho: [[spoiler:His final line is a loud, frustrated scream as Belleza's cruiser plows into him]].
* DragonInChief: He's subordinate to Teodora, but is more of a direct threat to the MainCharacters and has been building up his power base for some time now to embark on his own plans for [[spoiler:World Domination.]] He eventually becomes the true BigBad late in the game after [[spoiler:he and the majority of the Armada go rogue.]]
* DrunkOnTheDarkSide: His face while calling down the [[spoiler:Rains of Destruction]] screams '''"UNLIMITTEEEDDD POOWWWAARGHHHHH!!!"''' And [[ChewingTheScenery then there's his dialogue]].
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Before he starts JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope and abandoning all his scruples, he does display a few moments of this:
** After Alfonso cowardly kills his own Vice-Captain and abandons ship, Galcian relieves Alfonso's command of the Mid-Ocean fleet and dumps him in Ixa'taka.
** He shows genuine respect for Gregorio after their duel and orders [[spoiler:Gregorio's body]] shipped back to Valua, telling his men to take the utmost care with it, because it was "worth more than their lives."
** The flashbacks in ''Legends'' show Galcian as a up-and-coming Admiral. When Ramirez defends the honor of his benefactor and friend, Admiral Mendosa, Galcian snorts that Mendosa is a thief and a liar. This later turns out to be true when Mendosa is exposed as a slave-trader.
* EvilIsHammy: For the most part, he's a ''very'' [[TheStoic cold, calculating, and emotionless baddie]]... [[spoiler:then he gets his hands on Zelos' power to create the Rains of Destruction, and begins devouring entire sets]].
* EvilLaugh: One of his few voice clips.
* EvilMentor: Victorious in the case of Ramirez.
* ForTheEvulz: By slightly tweaking a line of dialogue from Orwell's ''1984'' we can see Galcian's actions in a clearer light: ''"The Armada seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness: only power, pure power. What pure power means [[DeathFromAbove you will understand presently.]]"''
* AGodAmI: Once he gets his hands on the [[spoiler:Silver Moon Crystal.]]
* GoodHairEvilHair: ''Definitely'' evil hair.
* HitlerCam: As Ramirez glowingly describes the virtues of his boss, we see a cutscene of Galcian in this pose. The shot of Valuan troopers rallied behind him is likely meant to invoke ''Triumph of the Will''.
* HopelessBossFight: It's possible to fight him early in the game. Just not advisable.
* InsaneAdmiral: While not demonstrably insane, he is weirdly indifferent to the country he supposedly defends.
* LaserGuidedKarma: His ruthlessness ultimately got the better of him. Or, at the very least, if you're [[spoiler:sending someone to their death]], make sure they STAY dead.
* MakeAnExampleOfThem:
** Mused over killing the Blue Rogues and leaving their carcasses "rotting in the sun" -- but admitted that they probably aren't dumb enough to resist capture.
** Exaggerated in the case of [[spoiler:the entire Valuan continent]]. They could use a little rain....
* MightyGlacier: You'll more-than-likely outspeed him during the battle, but he'll hit like a tonne of bricks unless you're careful.
* ObviouslyEvil: You mean the pantomime moustache, high collar, and theme tune that sounds like a funeral march on evil pills didn't tip you off? His appearance in the ''intro'' makes him do a theatrical flourish towards the camera as ''the set turns into a flaming background around him''.
* OhCrap: After thinking he's escaped his fate by fleeing the heroes who have just defeated him he reacts to [[spoiler:Belleza running her ship into his escape pod with a final scream before he's killed]].
* OneHandedZweihander: "Vyse, I don't think we can take him." You should listen to Aika. Understandably, ''this is your best option''.
* TheParagonAlwaysRebels: Like Ramirez, Galcian was considered something of a golden boy in his Vice-Admiral days. His war record during the first Valua-Nasr war was exemplary, earning him a degree of feared reverence amongst commanders in the east.
* TheRival: To a degree, since the BigBad keeps shifting over the course of the game. On the matter, Galcian fully considers Vyse as his main antagonist and recognizes him as a person. Compare to Ramirez who just consider the Blue Rogues as a nuisance and never adresses anyone on personal terms, Fina excepted.
* ShockAndAwe: Uses mostly Electric and Void magic in the battle against him.
* SocialDarwinist: According to Ramirez, Galcian intended to create a world where he could "slaughter the weak and lead the strong".
* TheStarscream: To Empress Teodora. Played with in that [[SelectiveObliviousness she is the only one who doesn't seem to realise]].
* TakeOverTheWorld: He couldn't have done it without a Silvite's help. Perversely, ''this'' is the guy Ramirez held up as the pinnacle of humanity.
* ThisIsUnforgivable: When word reaches Crescent Isle of Valua being [[spoiler:destroyed by the Rains of Destruction]], Vyse loudly declares that the armada has gone too far.
* UnflinchingWalk: His Terminator stride while atop a fast-moving Valuan bullet train.

Galcian's former vice-captain, who was promoted to Admiral of the newly-formed sixth fleet of the Valuan Armada. He would follow Galcian to his own death. His flagship is the ''Monoceros'', meaning "unicorn" in Greek.
----
* AerithAndBob: At least when compared with the Silvite Elders, whose names all sound like [[Franchise/{{Transformers}} Autobots]].
* AmbiguouslyGay: [[WhiteHairBlackHeart Villainous white haired]] {{Bishonen}} with a strictly platonic relationship with every woman he meets in the game. The name of his ship is even "unicorn" in Greek. [[spoiler:He undergoes a HeroicBSOD and FaceHeelTurn when his first (male) mentor betrays him, then undergoes a VillainousBreakdown, ''cries'' and attempts to [[TakingYouWithMe take all of Arcadia down with him]] after Galcian's death.]]
* AvengingTheVillain: [[spoiler:Decides to unleash the Rains of Destruction on the world in revenge for Galcian's death.]]
* AuthorityEqualsAssKicking: One of Valua's admirals.
* BreakTheCutie: His BackStory reveals this was the case with him. Before his FaceHeelTurn, Ramirez was shown to be gentle and sensitive - not terribly different from Fina's own personality. [[spoiler:He's then recruited into the Valuan Armada and sent to work in what amounts to a death camp. When he attempts to better the lives of the Ixa'takans by requesting it be brought up with the Empress and later discovers that the man he trusted above anyone else was also exploiting them for his own gain? He's nearly murdered for it.]]
* BrokenPedestal: Galcian warned him not to place others too high. When his estimation of [[spoiler:Medosa]] is shattered, Ramirez shifts his admiration to Galcian.
* BullyingADragon: [[spoiler:Admiral Mendosa]] actually thought he and his men could take Ramirez in a fight. Bad idea.
* BurialAtSea: Even with all that's happened, Vyse recognizes Ramirez as a fellow sailor and [[spoiler:returns his Moon Crystal to the sky]].
* CombatPragmatist: Does a full-scale attack on Nasr's capital from [[FailsafeFailure behind the defensive wall]].
* TheDragon: At first he seems to simply be NumberTwo to Valua's highest-ranking admiral. When Galcian [[spoiler:takes over the empire]], though, he graduates to BigBad and Ramirez acts as his most trusted and powerful subordinate, enforcing his will where needed.
* DragonAscendant: Ramirez ultimately ends up being the game's final boss after [[spoiler:Belleza kills Galcian]].
* EnigmaticMinion: No one knows where this pasty, creepy swordsman came from, but he's an excellent officer and pals with the Grand Admiral so nobody questions it. Queen Teodora was kept out of the loop about Ramirez's connections with the Silvites.
* EvilCostumeSwitch: The additional scenes in ''Legends'' show Ramirez wearing all-white Silvite clothes (similar to Fina) when he's retrieved by the Valuans. He dons a suit of chrome armor upon joining Mendosa's fleet, and finally the black uniform after [[spoiler:slaughtering Mendosa and his crew]].
* EvilCounterpart:
** To Fina. Had Ramirez been the Silvite who was found by Vyse's crew, and Fina fallen into the hands of Valua, their fates might have been reversed.
** He is also the complete opposite of main character Vyse.
* EvilIsDeathlyCold: His S-moves have a bit of an ice-themed spin.
* FaceHeelTurn: Although it happened ''long'' before the story began.
* FallenHero: According to Fina (and optional flashbacks), he used to be a lot like Vyse. The main difference was that he was (still is?) much more susceptible to other's wills.
* FinalBoss: [[spoiler:Becomes this after Galcian's death.]]
* FreudianExcuse: [[spoiler:[[EtTuBrute Betrayal]] by the Valuan [[BrokenPedestal Admiral Mendosa]], a man whom he greatly respected.]]
* HeKnowsTooMuch: Forced to kill his [[spoiler:mentor and superior officer]] after discovering his side venture in Ixa'taka: a forced labor camp.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: [[spoiler:Ultimately decided Galcian had a point after being betrayed by Mendosa.]]
* HopelessBossFight: It's possible to fight him a total of 3 times, though only one of those fights, [[spoiler:the one at the end of the VeryDefinitelyFinalDungeon,]] is possible to win. In the other two, he has infinite HP.
* KickTheSonOfABitch: His StartOfDarkness begins when [[spoiler:he murders Admiral Mendosa, a man who was forcing the already abused Ixa'takan natives to work extra hours for his own personal profit]].
* KnightTemplar: Fiercely devoted to Galcian's ideals.
* ManlyTears: His eyes are still glistening when Vyse confronts him at last. Ramirez has finally lost his mind.
* MasterSwordsman: The guy can cut ''light'' with his sword. He can also call up icy spires and impale people on them. PrettyBoy though he may be, he is ''not'' one to be crossed, and you'd do very well to listen to Fina's advice the first time he gives you the choice of surrendering or dying.
* MisanthropeSupreme: Hates the world enough to [[spoiler:try to destroy it.]]
* OmnicidalManiac: [[spoiler:After Galcian dies, he kind of... loses it... And decides that all of the world deserves to die if Galcian can't rule it.]]
* OneWingedAngel: [[spoiler:Twice. Following his defeat, he merges with Zelos, and later [[NotQuiteDead crash-lands on the Delphinus]] to start the fight anew.]]
* OutOfTheInferno: Twice.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: [[spoiler:When he fuses with Zelos, they become this.]]
* PlatonicLifePartners: [[spoiler:With Fina, before his FaceHeelTurn.]]
* RecurringBoss: Though only 2 fights are actually necessary, the others are optional ([[HopelessBossFight and impossible to win]]).
* RoyalRapier: His preferred weapon.
* SissyVillain: Played with. His more [[ManOfWealthAndTaste elegant]] style and RoyalRapier contrast with Vyse's {{Hunk}} aesthetic, and his [[HoYay questionable feelings]] for Galcian seem to paint him as one. However, he's ''never'' shown to be anything other than a [[TheDreaded dangerous]] badass. Contrast this with Alfonso.
* SinkTheLifeBoats: After downing the Little Jack, he turns his cannons on its life boats.
* StartOfDarkness: Learned through the Moonfish and Piastol sidequest.
* SuicidalCosmicTemperTantrum: Deciding the world must burn for not accepting Galcian as its ruler. He becomes the ''embodiment'' of [[spoiler:Zelos]] in order to see the destruction through.
* TheStoic: Acts emotionless most of the time... [[spoiler:at least until Galcian is killed.]]
* TearsOfBlood: During the animation for his "Silver Tundra" attack, Ramirez raises his head, allowing a single tear of blood to roll down his cheek. ''Shudder''...
* ThatManIsDead: He quotes this verbatim when Fina attempts to appeal to his gentler side.
* TheUnfought: Not Ramirez himself, but his flagship, the ''Monoceros'', one of the two Valuan flagships that is never fought (the other being Alfonso's, the ''Cygnus''.)
* UsedToBeASweetKid: According to Fina and the Moonfish sidequest, prior to his FaceHeelTurn.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Ramirez is not a nice man. But at the end of the day, he genuinely does think that putting Galcian in charge will save the world and make it a better place, and he's willing to do ''anything'' to make it a reality.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: A pretty young man with white hair who engages in cruel acts.
* WickedCultured: Examining the objects in his room reveals that he is a fan of building models, geography, and literature.
* WideEyedIdealist: [[spoiler:When he first arrives in Arcadia and meets the Valuans; learning that Mendosa has betrayed him causes him to FaceHeelTurn.]] He still remains a fanatical idealist, however, believing that only Galcian has what is necessary to lead the world.

Admiral of the first fleet of the Valuan Armada, he got his position through connections and family ties. His ego is larger than his flagship, the ''Cygnus'' meaning "swan."
----
* AllegoricalCharacter: Alfonso is the walking personification of Valua's FatalFlaw: its elitism and belief that its status as the de-facto most powerful, well-defended nation in the world makes its victory a ForegoneConclusion, leaving it completely unprepared for [[DavidVersusGoliath any alternative scenario]].
* AntiMutiny: [[spoiler:Surprisingly, he joins Gregorio in refusing to go along with Galcian's coup d'état. (He's probably still resentful of being assigned to Ixa'taka.) Alfonso immediately reports on Galcian's treason to the Queen, and is promoted to Grand Admiral for his efforts. Then he's killed by the Rains soon after.]]
* AristocratsAreEvil: It's heavily implied he only got his position through wealth and connections.
* BigBadWannabe: Trying to rise through the ranks.
* BlingOfWar: Wears a decked out coat to show off his money and status.
* CutsceneBoss: He sends his war beasts to fight for him, [[TheUnfought and you never get to fight his flagship.]] [[spoiler:He dies in a cutscene by being crushed by a pillar.]] Although, given how much of a fop he is, it probably wouldn't be much of a fight anyways.
* DirtyCoward: [[EstablishingCharacterMoment Established at the beginning of the game]]: he flees for the escape pods after the Blue Rogues attack his ship; leaving his crew high and dry so he can run back home and claim credit for capturing Fina. He also kills his Vice-captain so he can have a {{Scapegoat}}. [[spoiler:After Galcian unleashes the rains on Valua, he ditches the Empress and tries to save his own skin. Doesn't do him much good.]]
* EvilCounterpart: To Prince Enrique. Both are Valuan nobility who pursue a life of action in their airships despite there being absolutely no monetary or social incentive for them to do so. Both are also initially unprepared for combat and the hardships that come with adventuring. Unlike Enrique, who quickly [[TookALevelInBadass adapts]], Alfonso never even ''tries'' to better himself or take direct action. [[spoiler:Fittingly, Alfonso's cowardice spells his doom when [[KarmicDeath he's crushed within the imperial palace itself]] while Enrique [[EarnYourHappyEnding gets his happy ending]] after risking his life on the frontlines of the war against Galcian's armada and Ramirez' omnicidal rampage.]]
* ExactWords: Alfonso constantly brags about maintaining his "Spotless" reputation. Given his absurd cowardice, his reputation is probably indeed spotless ''because he's never done anything''.
* FluffyTamer: He has two pet war beasts, [[ReplacementGoldfish both named Antonio]].
* GloryHound: Tries to take credit for the accomplishments of his crew and other admirals.
* HighCollarOfDoom: Part of the uniform.
* IronicName: His name actually means "ready for battle". [[TheUnfought He]] [[DirtyCoward is]] [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere not.]]
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Spoils [=DeLoco=]'s plan to lock Vyse in an [[TheWallsAreClosingIn inescapable death trap]]. [=DeLoco=] is so furious, he eventually decides to just squash them both; but by then, Vyse has gotten away.
* PointyHairedBoss: Alfonso commands respect from precisely no one. It's common knowledge that he only became Admiral thanks to his family pulling some strings.
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveConnections: Though we never learn his family name, cutscene dialogue and optional lore from NPC's imply this his family's wealth, nobility and reputation are second only to that of the royal family, which would explain how he manages to suffer only mild blows to his ego despite his complete incompetence.
* SelfishEvil: Discussed in-universe. After his first horrible failure, Galcian points out that Alfonso is a liar, a cheat, and an ''utter'' coward who is only out for his own personal gain who doesn't deserve to command the Mid-Ocean fleet. [[spoiler:His refusal to go along with Galcian's coup was probably motivated by this as well, seeing as he had a lot of wealth and privilege back in Valua.]]
* SissyVillain: Bails out at the first sign of danger and makes you fight his [[FluffyTamer pets]] instead.
* SmallNameBigEgo: The least competent admiral in the Valuan armada, but the biggest braggart.
** It's so bad that the only time he actually directly contributes to the plot is when he captures Fina during the opening. Bear in mind that Fina's ship is both very visually distinct AND has neither offensive nor defensive equipment; Fina herself is also unarmed ([[EquippableAlly mostly]]).
* SmugSnake: Has a very high opinion of himself and a very low opinion of everyone else.
* SpannerInTheWorks: His plan to preserve his reputation at the beginning of the game involves killing his Vice-Captain as a scapegoat so he can claim that the Vice-Captain was actually allied with the Blue Rogues and was the reason why they were able to take over the ship so easily. The plan fails when, after he has ditched everyone and left in an escape pod, the Blue Rogues let everyone else on the ship go after stealing everything of value. The remaining crew make it back to Valua first and file a damning report.
* StarterVillain: The game's prologue suggests that Alfonso and Vyse will become arch-enemies. This isn't exactly the case.
* TheUnfought: Neither he nor his flagship ever enter combat.
* VillainExitStageLeft: He talks a good game, but he always winds up shoving his men aside in a race for the exit.
* VillainInAWhiteSuit: A wealthy, ambitious villain who's not very hands-on. Wears a crisp white coat, and his flagship, the Cygnus, is white.

Admiral of the second fleet of the Valuan Armada, renowned for his incredible defensive tactics. He raised Prince Enrique, and has a very close bond with him. He has no interest in conquest, but is loyal to his country. His flagship, the ''Auriga'' or "charioteer," has a spiked hull used as a shield and a battering ram.
----
%%%" Sports one." is not context.
* TheBigGuy: A lot of the time he tends to come off as a ''heroic'' defender; which makes one wonder just what Valua was like before the empress went loco.
* DefectorFromDecadence: Had a cushy position in the Valuan armada [[spoiler:that he threw away to protect Enrique.]]
* FriendlyEnemy: The most willing to cooperate with Vyse out of the Valuan admirals.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:Decides that Vyse and Enrique are right and ultimately sacrifices himself protecting them from Galcian at Dangral Island.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:He gives his life holding off Galcian so Vyse, Aika, Fina, and Enrique could escape from Dangral Island. Galcian respects this.]]
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: True to form, he carries a large ballistic shield into his duel with [[spoiler:Galcian]].
* MightyGlacier: He's slow and known for his excellent defensive tactics, but he still hits like a truck.
* MyCountryRightOrWrong: He doesn't believe that what Teodora and Galcian are trying to do is right, but he loves Valua. He fights for his country rather than its rulers.
* NobleTopEnforcer: Would much rather see Valua on the side of good than the side of power.
* OfficerAndAGentleman: Nice enough to send Enrique a dispatch announcing his intention to shell the town he's in.
* OldSoldier: The oldest admiral in the Valuan armada, and also one of the strongest.
* RammingAlwaysWorks: His fleet isn't so much composed of ships as airborne ''battering rams''.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: See HeroicSacrifice, above.
* TokenGoodTeammate: One of the only two Valuan admirals who are decent people at heart.
* WorthyOpponent: To both the Blue Rogues [[spoiler:and even Galcian, who shows genuine respect for Gregorio's body after their duel and orders that his men ship his body back to Valua, saying it was more valuable than their lives. Since Galcian respects nobody, this should tell you ''a lot''.]]
** [[spoiler:This gesture of respect is undercut by the fact that Galcian destroys Valua soon after, likely before Gregorio has the chance for a proper funeral.]]

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MasashiSugawara (Japanese), Creator/CharlesMartinet (English)

Admiral of the third fleet of the Valuan Armada. He's a huge flirt who believes that a powerful offense is the best defense, and has a huge cannon mounted on the bow of his flagship, the ''Draco'' which has a HUGE CANNON, BABY!
----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: To Aika, who's put-off by his vulgarity and how strongly he tries to come onto her; especially after he [[spoiler:[[AttemptedRape tried to rape her]]]].
* AffectionateNickname: Refers to Aika as "Red", due to her hair color.
* AmazonChaser: Likes his women "wild and crazy". Unfortunately for [[FieryRedhead Aika]], she meets all the criteria.
* AnimeHair: Sculpts his hair into a right triangle. [[WebVideo/YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries Attention, duelists!]]
* {{BFG}}: Suffice to say, Vigoro is a firm believer in BiggerIsBetter, as his ship boasts the largest cannon and the greatest firepower in the Vuluan Armada. A direct hit can near rival a shot from the Delphinus' Moonstone Cannon. When faced directly in battle, he totes a miniature cannon that doubles as a [[CarryABigStick cudgel]] and his [[LimitBreak "Cannon Fire"]] is so devastating that, unless the target is defending, [[OneHitKill is guaranteed to kill in one shot.]]
* BlackComedyRape: [[spoiler:His attempt at trying to rape Aika is PlayedForLaughs.]]
* BloodKnight: He's unconcerned with what Valua is plotting. He's just in it for the thrill of battle. [[spoiler:He outright states this when Galcian takes control of the Valuan Armada, pointing out that as long as he gets to fight he doesn't care who's in charge.]]
* TheBrute: His ship has the strongest firepower of all the Valuan flagships.
* CarpetOfVirility: Has no shortage of body hair, which Aika is ''not'' turned-on by.
* TheCasanova: According to Belieza, who tells him Fina wouldn't be his type, since she's shy and demure, whereas Vigoro prefers his women (quote): "wild and crazy".
%%zce* CasanovaWannabe: See the HopelessSuitor entry.
* CompensatingForSomething: "Hey Vyse! My cannon's bigger than yours!"
-->'''Aika:''' [[LampshadeHanging Talk about compensating for something... That guy's got a complex.]]
* CoolShades: Only worn as [[spoiler:"Sky Pirate Vigoro"]].
%%zce* DidNotGetTheGirl: See the HopelessSuitor entry.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Nah... the giant cannon taking up his entire ship's bow, and the fact that he wears a codpiece that's designed to resemble a gun barrel ''[[SarcasmMode clearly]]'' isn't meant to be suggestive, or anything.
** During the ship battle against him, he always fires his big cannon on the same turns that you can fire yours. [[spoiler:It's basically a dick-waving contest.]]
* DoubleEntendre: He's fond of these and none too subtle about 'em:
** Such as when he and Beliza run into Aika again, when they arrive in Yafutoma. Vigoro doesn't waste time [[CasanovaWannabe trying to lay on the charm.]]
-->'''Vigoro: (flashing grin at Aika)''' "Hey, Red, wanna come over to my ship? You 'n me can "rock the boat!"
** And just before the ship battle begins outside the village, Vigoro taunts Vyse from the bridge of his warship:
-->'''Vigoro: (smug)''' "Hey, Vyse--! '''[[BiggerIsBetter MY CANNON's BIGGER THAN YOURS!!"]]'''
* DumbMuscle: Although it's more down to the fact that he doesn't really think about the consequences of his actions rather than an actual lack of intelligence on his part.
* {{Ephebophile}}: Vigoro's in his mid-late 20's and wants to bang Aika, who's 17 years old; going so far as to [[spoiler:try to rape her]], when he first saw her at the Imperial Grand Fortress.
* FanDisservice: He's wearing a codpiece!
* GracefulLoser: After defeating him at Dangral Island, he ''finally'' gives up his pursuit of Aika. Though he remains convinced that Vyse is her boyfriend.
-->'''Vigoro:''' "You win, Vyse. The strongest man has the right to be with the finest woman."
-->'''Aika: (shrugs)''' "Wow. If you didn't come on so strong, you might actually be appealing."
* HeelFaceTurn: Post-game only, assuming the player [[OneHundredPercentCompletion has met the criteria]] to unlock the OptionalBoss battle against him. He'll issue a challenge to meet him just outside of Crescent Island, where he explains that he's given up his old lifestyle to become [[spoiler:an Air Pirate, like Vyse and his friends]].
* HopelessSuitor: At one point, Aika tells him he wouldn't be so bad, ''if'' he weren't so vulgar, or came on so strongly. But still makes it clear that she still wouldn't interested in him, even if he could defeat Vyse.
* KavorkaMan: Claims "no woman in Valua" can resist him. Doesn't say much for their hygiene over there.
* MurderTheHypotenuse: He thinks Vyse is his competition for Aika's affections, so he's convinced he can win her over by defeating him. Despite her flat-out telling him that she still wouldn't be interested, even if he could.
* OneHitKill: If you're not defending, or "Justice Shield" isn't active, Vigoro's "Cannon Fire" is guaranteed to kill the target outright ([[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_8JwmnN0pg seen at 2:15-2:35).]]
* OptionalBoss: [[spoiler:As an air pirate.]]
* PrinceCharmingWannabe: He thinks he's a ladies' man, but is more of a CasanovaWannabe than a ChivalrousPervert.
* PrisonRape: Also noted in Aika's section and narrowly averted, thanks to Vyse and Gilder's timely arrival.
* RecurringBoss: Typically, you'll only fight him three times: two normal battles + one ship battle. But, if you beat the game with [[OneHundredPercentCompletion 100% Completion]], it unlocks a OptionalBoss battle against him as [[spoiler:"Sky Pirate Vigoro"]].
* SleevesAreForWimps: Presumably to show off his muscles.
* SoleSurvivor: By the time the game ends, he's the only one of the Valuan Admirals who survives.
* SomethingAboutARose: Sports a tattoo of a rose on his bicep.
* StalkerWithACrush: As far as Aika's concerned.
** VillainousCrush: Vigoro becomes fixated on Aika and won't take "no" for an answer. It takes defeating him ''three separate times'' before he finally agrees to leave her alone.
* TestosteronePoisoning: Big time. Vigoro totally believes he's the manliest of men and bursting with raw machismo - from his bulging pecs and biceps, to the codpiece he wears, and he's all about making time with women.
* WorfHadTheFlu: When you beat him the first time, he complains that the only reason you were able to beat him is because he didn't have his cannon and armor at the time. He's not just making excuses, as the next time you face him he does bring his cannon and armor, and proves to be a surprisingly difficult boss.

* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:Never spoken, but it's pretty obvious this she's feeling this after Glacian destroys Valua. Presumably, this why she chose to sacrifice her ship, and her life, to stop him.]]
* NobleDemon: She fights for Valua and supports its cause, but only because she believes unifying the world under its rule will bring world peace.
* OfCorsetsSexy: Part of her Admiral uniform.
* PaperThinDisguise: [[spoiler:She poses as a belly dancer named Bellena working in Maramba. Although it's justified in that Vyse, Aika, and Fina had never seen Belleza before.]]
* RammingAlwaysWorks: As [[spoiler:Galcian]] discovers first-hand.
* ReassignmentBackfire: [[spoiler:Galcian]] sending her back to Valua, confident she'll [[spoiler:die when Soltis wipes it off the map]]. ''It doesn't take.''
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: [[spoiler:Deliberately invoked on her part. She rams the Lynx into Glacian's escape pod as he's trying to flee from Vyse, killing them both.]]
* SequentialBoss: Fought in the ''Lynx'' after Recumen, but she's the real threat.
* TakeThatKiss: Enjoys blowing a kiss at Vyse whenever she outsmarts him.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: A one-nation world is a peaceful world. To that end, Belleza prefers bloodless victories.
* WomanScorned: [[spoiler:Turns out even if you don't care for a woman, trying to kill her with a ColonyDrop is still a bad idea.]]

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/IsseiFutamata (Japanese), Bill Broughton (English)

Admiral of the fifth fleet of the Valuan Armada. He wears a space suit and is the Armada's head of research and development. He loves his creations more than people, and gets extremely angry at anyone who damages his precious flagship, the ''Chameleon''.
----
* AceCustom: His flagship, the Chameleon, has a lot of clearly non-standard features.
* AerosolFlamethrower: The first of the Chameleon's special weapons.
* AndThereWasMuchRejoicing: One of the few antagonists whose death garners no sympathy. Vyse actually goes as far to say something along the lines of "Finally rid of that Psycho!" [[spoiler:He is even the only one of the five original Admirals to meet his maker directly at the hands of Vyse.]]
* AxCrazy: By far the most mentally unhinged of all the admirals.
* CoolAirship: The Chameleon, gaining a [[SwissArmyWeapon flamethrower, revolver cannon, moonstone cannon, and harpoon cannon]] at different points in the game.
* DisproportionateRetribution: "YOU SCRATCHED MY SHIP!!!!!!!"
* TheEvilGenius: Maybe not so much "evil" as "obsessive and [[ScienceRelatedMemeticDisorder mentally unstable]]."
* FaintInShock: He passes out every time his plan is foiled.
* FamilyUnfriendlyDeath: [[spoiler:His ship explodes in Deep Sky. If there were any survivors, the pressure crushed their bodies.]]
* FlawedPrototype: On paper, the ''Chameleon'' is a very cool ship; in practice, not so much. Turns out constant tinkering and using it as a test bed for experimental tech makes for a very quirky and unstable ship. Who knew?
* ForScience: He's only interested in plundering the technology of the Silvites so that he can learn their secrets.
* GadgeteerGenius: He designs a lot of parts for Valuan battleships, and designed several custom weapons and features for his own ship.
* GigglingVillain: Prone to this.
* GrapplingHookPistol: Played straight, unlike Drachma.
* HarpoonGun: Not used as such, ironically.
* HighPressureEmotion: When he's ''really'' agitated, his helmet shoots steam.
* InTheDreamingStageOfGrief: Every time he's defeated in a ship-to-ship combat, he throws a tantrum in the wheelhouse and attempts to convince himself that he's dreaming, before passing out. He eventually defies this in [[spoiler:his last appearance, which ironically allows him to function long enough to push his ship beyond its limit. He dies in the explosion screaming for someone to tell him it's just a bad dream]].
* MadScientist: Presents the image.
%%* MakingASpectacleOfYourself
* PropheticName: His name is Spanish for "crazy" and he's a MadScientist GigglingVillain.
* PutTheLaughterInSlaughter: "Hee hee... now I will '''kill''' you!"
* SwissArmyWeapon: The Chameleon's special cannon is different every time you fight him.
* VillainForgotToLevelGrind: The third and final time you fight him in Deep Sky has his ship no stronger than it has been the last two times you faced him. The only reason you might not end the battle in two turns is because of the accuracy penalty both ships are facing in the pitch blackness of the arena. Once he harpoons his ship onto the ''Delphinus'' and gets up in your face, however, you can inflict a CurbStompBattle on him.
* WaveMotionGun: The Chameleon's Moon Stone Cannon.

!!The Gigas

[[folder:Recumen]]

The first Gigas, made by the red civilization and residing in [[{{Qurac}} Nasr]], is activated by Belleza. It attacks with a supercharged heat beam known as the "Red Ray" from one of its four heads. It is put to rest by Belleza to avoid it rampaging and killing her crew.
----
* HopelessBossFight: You can't win, but you run away to attack Belleza instead.
* HeWasRightThereAllAlong: Camouflaged as [[spoiler:the four "statues" at the base of Pyrynn Temple]]. Their empty gaze is turned in on the Gigas' activation console.
* MultipleHeadCase: Has four heads, each with a WaveMotionGun.
* NumerologicalMotif: Each of the Gigas have a different number of eyes, corresponding to their respective civilization.
* PlayingWithFire: The Red Moon is associated with fire, and its Red Ray burns things.
* TakenForGranite: [[spoiler:The statues outside the Temple of Pyrynn are its heads.]]
* WaveMotionGun: Red Ray.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Grendel]]

The second Gigas, made by the green civilization, is found in [[{{Mayincatec}} Ixa'taka]]. It is awakened by Ixa'taka's king and goes on a rampage when he is knocked unconscious. It has no real long range weapon, so it hurls boulders, and its punch can destroy small islands. Oddly, its attacks have little to do with healing or poison. It is defeated by [[EpicFail falling into a river and being unable to pick itself up out of the ditch.]] It is then deactivated.
----
* CyberCyclops: It's a large robotic giant with a single eye.
* HopelessBossFight: You win the fight not by reducing its HP to zero, but by knocking it off-balance so it falls into a canyon and gets stuck. If you're patient and determined enough, you can reduce its HP to zero but this doesn't change the resulting cutscene.
* {{Literary Allusion|Title}}: To the antagonist of ''Literature/{{Beowulf}}''
* OurGiantsAreBigger: The only humanoid Gigas.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: The closest thing it has to a facial feature is a single red eye.
* SuperStrength: It has no special attacks outside of hitting you REALLY hard... and throwing rocks REALLY HARD... and stomping your ship [[RuleOfThree REALLY FREAKING HARD]].

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Bluheim]]

The third is [[{{Wutai}} Yafutoma's]] Gigas, made by the blue civilization. It is a [[ThePhoenix phoenix]] or [[OurDragonsAreDifferent dragon-like]] Gigas. It is the first Gigas with the capability of flight, as well as the first to be outright destroyed in ship-to-ship combat.
----
* BeamSpam: The WaveMotionGun attack Phoenix Ray.
* BlowYouAway: Uses wind and wave attacks.
* FeatheredFiend: Though its wings appear to be split skin rather than feathers.
* GiantFlyer: It's an enormous weaponized robot phoenix.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: It's part dragon, part bird.
* RuleOfCool: Once defeated, it lands in a heap at the foot of Mt. Kazai. ...As opposed to the vast kilometers of empty clouds it could have fallen into.
* TakenForGranite: When you first see it, it's encased in hardened lava.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Plergoth]]

The fourth Gigas, made by the purple civilization, is formally known as Plergoth.
----
* AnIcePerson: The Purple Moon is associated with ice, and Plergoth has an ice-based breath attack.
* DeathEqualsRedemption: Only in its last moments does [[spoiler:Drachma]] realize the folly of his vendetta, as [[spoiler:Rhaknam]] is a man-made monstrosity and didn't mean to hurt anyone.
* FlyingSeafoodSpecial: It's a giant flying sea creature.
* ImDyingPleaseTakeMyMacguffin: Unlike with the other gigases, a Moon Crystal was embedded into its skin. It clinks to the floor once Plergoth take its last breath.
* PurpleIsPowerful: It's purple, and it's a Gigas.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Its eyes are red.
* RoarBeforeBeating: [[spoiler:Drachma can easily pick up on Rhaknam's cries whenever it's around.]]
* TragicVillain: [[spoiler:It was once an ordinary arcwhale before being converted into a living weapon by the ancient purple civilization, and it never meant to hurt anybody.]]
* TheUnfought: The only Gigas that the party doesn't fight in any capacity.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Yeligar]]

The [[TheEmpire Yellow Civilization's]] Gigas is sealed under the Maw of Tartas in Valua and, as such, cannot be reached until you can fly to low altitudes. It breaks its seal, is sent back down, and never comes up again.
----
* BewareMyStingerTail: Basically a giant rail gun.
* GiantFlyer: Yeligar is able to fly.
* GiantSpider: Resembles one.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Also kind of resembles one.
* ShockAndAwe: The Yellow Moon is associated with electricity.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Zelos]]

The Silver Gigas, Zelos.
----
* ApocalypseHow: Capable of causing anything from a Class 0 to a Class 5. It only ever achieves Class 2 under the [[spoiler:Silver Civilization.]]
* ApocalypseWow: You can just smell the fear in [[spoiler:Valua, can't you?]]
* TheBlank: The only Gigas with no semblance of a face, or even a head, until it [[spoiler:fuses with Ramirez]]. Then, it fits the definition of this trope in a much more conventional way.
* TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt: [[spoiler:It already did it once....]]
* EvilCounterpart: According to Fina, Zelos was based on the same nanotech as Cupil. Yep, its Cupil's ''big'' cousin.
* FantasticNuke: The most destructive Gigas, and [[spoiler:the only one capable of wiping out all civilization on Arcadia.]]
* FixedForwardFacingWeapon: Its 'eye', which is a facsimile of Soltis' cannon room.
* KillSat: [[spoiler:The Arcadian equivalent.]]
* PowerOfTheVoid: Zelos is described as being born from Nothing, but encompassing everything.
* SlasherSmile: Once [[spoiler:Ramirez]] gives it a face, it does this during their joint super move.
* TransformationSequence: The whole of its battle is preventing it from transforming to its invincible ultimate form.
[[/folder]]

!!The Crew of the Delphinus
[[folder:Belle]]

An energetic girl sent by Clara to get better at firing canons. She can be recruited as a Gunner.
----
* BrainlessBeauty: She's one of Clara's gunners, but was sent to travel with Vyse's crew because she doesn't actually know much about cannons. In the epilogue, she returns to Clara's crew having learned that cannonballs shoot out of the barrel very fast.
* BridgeBunnies: Herself and her companions in blue.
* GenkiGirl: She's extremely enthusiastic despite not knowing much about cannons. Her default stance is constantly bouncing (and we ''do'' mean [[JigglePhysics bouncing!]]) on the balls of her feet.
* PinkMeansFeminine: Like Clara, she's dressed in pink.

[[/folder]]

* WizardBeard: Sports an impressive one.

A fortune teller from Maramba, who claims to be the most famous fortune teller in Nasr. She can be recruited as a Merchant.
----
* FortuneTeller: Though the quality of the fortune depends on how much you pay. 100 gold will net you something helpful for completing the game, but only 10 will get you the weather, something incredibly obvious, or some vague mumbling that, [[LampshadeHanging as Vyse points out at one point]], could be anybody's fortune. [[spoiler:She gives up fortunetelling in the epilogue.]]

* SuperSenses: He can see small and distant things very precisely. If you speak to him on Crescent Isle, he'll tell you little things that your crew has been up to (like stealing each other's lunch).

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Urala]]

A shy chef and waitress working at a tea house in Yafutoma. She can be recruited as a Cook.
----
* HookedUpAfterwards: [[spoiler:She marries Hans and lives with him in Valua.]]
* NiceGirl: She's the gentlest character in the game along with Fina.
* ShrinkingViolet: In stark contrast to her HotBlooded sister.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Girly Girl to her sister Kirala's Tomboy.
[[/folder]]

!!Black Pirates

[[folder:Baltor]]

A Black Pirate feared around Mid Ocean. He attacks ships for their cargo in his ship, ''The Blackbeard''. Vyse encounters him while escorting a Nasrian merchant home and is the game's first ship battle. He swears revenge and returns near the end only to be hopelessly outmatched by the Delphinus's power.
----
* BeardOfEvil: The most feared of all Black Pirates.
* BraggartBoss: Brags about his fame and power... Before being defeated by Vyse.
* EnemyMine: [[spoiler:He ends up joining Vyse's forces in the fight against Galcian because he hates the Blue Rogues, but he hates Galcian more, and right now Vyse is Galcian's biggest enemy.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: [[spoiler:He and his crew team up with Vyse to take Gaclian down at the end.]]
* GoldfishPoopGang: In his second appearance.
* MalevolentMugshot: His flag.
* RecurringBoss: Fought twice.
* TalkLikeAPirate: The only pirate in the game who uses stereotypical pop culture pirate slang.
* TemptingFate: [[WhatAPieceOfJunk He comments and makes fun of the Little Jack's old appearance]]. He's the ship battle tutorial.
* UnknownRival: Vyse has heard of him, but doesn't see him as a rival the way Baltor does.
* WarmupBoss: Mostly serves to teach the player about ship battle mechanics.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Rupee]]

Rupee is the newest leader of the infamous Larso Clan of Nasrian Black Pirates. Though the wanted poster seems imposing, the figure on the poster is actually his bodyguard, Barta. The actual Rupee is a small boy. He doesn't want to be a pirate, preferring to make carpets like his mother. After he and Barta are defeated, Vyse encourages him to do what makes him happy.
----
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Trust us.
* BigGuyLittleGuy: [[JustifiedTrope Justified]] by Rupee's age.
* DualBoss: With the offense-focused Barta and the magic-focused Rupee.
* FatherIDontWantToFight: He'd rather make carpets.
* FollowInMyFootsteps: Rupee is the heir to the infamous Larso Clan, but he'd rather inherit his mother's carpet shop than his father's pirate empire. He ultimately decides to be a carpet maker rather than a pirate.
* GoodOldFisticuffs: Barta's style.
* ManBehindTheMan: Played with. Barta is the one influencing Rupee, but does care for him. And if you get Rupee's health down, he will go berserk and kick Barta into you.
* ShootTheMedicFirst: [[TemptingFate Uh, no.]] [[SchmuckBait You really shouldn't.]] It's not a good idea.
* SquishyWizard: Rupee, made useless by Delta Shield.
* WakeUpCallBoss: Players lulled into a false sense of security by Baltor are in for a rude awakening. Rupee and Barta are far from the hardest bounty fight, especially once one figures out the gimmicks for [[ChargedAttack Legendary Punch]] and [[ShootTheMedicFirst Berserk Rupee]], but they can be quite difficult.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Gordo]]

Gordo the Round is a fat, gluttonous pirate who attacks ships for their food. After his defeat, he recognizes Drachma as the sailor hunting Rhaknam to avenge his son; this revelation of his motives enrages Drachma. Gordo later opens a restaurant in North Ocean.
----
* BigEater: His motivation for becoming a pirate was to steal food from trading ships.
* BigFun: After he quits piracy, he is quite helpful and friendly.
* FatBastard: As an enemy
* DefeatMeansFriendship: After being defeated by Vyse, he decides to give up piracy and open a restaurant instead.
* FireBreathingDiner: One of his attacks when fought.
* HeelFaceTurn: Gives up piracy to open a legitimate business.
* IncendiaryExponent: One of his attacks involves spitting fire at the party.
* ReformedCriminal: Starts the game as a black pirate, ends it as a successful restaurant owner.
* VillainousGlutton: Went into piracy to steal food.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lapen]]

A reckless, ruthless pirate who destroys towns with his SuperRobot, [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast Gunarm]]. He is one of the adopted sons of Centime, and learned most of his engineering skills from him. However, Lapen resents his "old fart" of a father for being what he sees as cowardly. Lapen wishes to be famous and known across the world for his brilliance, unlike Centime. After his defeat, he learns that fame and infamy are not the same. He decides to become an engineer and hopes to surpass his father.
----
* CallingTheOldManOut: One of Centime's adopted sons, and became a pirate because he felt Centime was wasting his skills and intellect.
* FlunkyBoss: He starts with a pair of minions and will periodically call another.
* FreudianExcuse: Centime let his life pass him by without showing off his brilliant mind. Lapen doesn't want the same to happen to him.
* GadgeteerGenius: Like father like adopted son.
* HappilyAdopted: Despite his anger at Centime, he does cite Centime's brilliance as an engineer and doesn't seem to hate him personally.
* ItRunsInTheFamily: Subverted, Centime is not his biological father.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Wants to be a famous engineer.
* {{Jerkass}}: Prioritizes power and fame over compassion.
* LackOfEmpathy: He doesn't understand why Centime wanted to dedicate himself to helping people rather than becoming famous.
* PurpleIsPowerful: Wears purple.
* WaveMotionGun: One of his mech's attacks is a scaled-down Moonstone Cannon.
* YoureNotMyFather: Disowns Centime, but ultimately decides to accept him as his adopted father.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Ixa'ness Demons]]

Three young triplets, Tara, Pera, and Lira whom have been [[DoubleStandardRapeFemaleOnMale abducting men from other villages for their all-female village]]. They enjoy flirting with Vyse both before and after the battle. They make fun of Aika and Fina for being "old hags" much to Aika's anger and [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments Fina's confusion]]. After the battle we learn that the "abducted" men [[AllMenArePerverts went of their own accord]].
----
* DoubleStandardRapeFemaleOnMale: Subverted; rather than being easily forgiven for kidnapping men against their will it turns out their supposed victims were actually volunteers.
* {{Jerkass}}: All three are very catty and rude to Aika and Fina.
* LittleMissBadass: Young women and extremely powerful fighters.
* MagicWand: Lira uses a staff.
* PowerTrio: The three fight together, and are made great by the sum of their parts. Blitzing down one of them makes the battle much easier, not least because it prevents them from using their brutally-powerful Chak Mol combination S-Move.

[[folder:Imposters]]
[[quoteright:180:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/art-Anita_Vize_Faina_6006.jpg]]

A trio of actors-turned-Black Pirates named Vize, Anita, and Faina that impersonate Vyse, Aika, and Fina to further their own greed. The real ones lay a smackdown on them and they decide to go legit, starting a Vyse look-alike show about the heroes' exploits.
----
* CostumeCopycat: Originally were this purely for showbusiness, until they decided to run with it and become {{Criminal Doppelganger}}s.
* EvilKnockoff: Their impersonations aren't perfect, but their attacks and quotes are a decent imitation of the gang's.
* IdenticalStranger: The resemblance is uncanny from a glance, [[PaperThinDisguise but their features are totally different]]. Vize has blue eyes and freckles. Faina is an albino with red eyes. Anita has purple hair.
* KillAndReplace: Vize is bored with petty robbery. He aims to kill Vyse and take his ship.
* MirrorBoss: Cutlass Wrath! Anita Burst!
* NotSoHarmless: For a bunch of former actors, they put up a pretty impressive fight against the real deal.
* ScareEmStraight: They promise to drop piracy for good if Vyse doesn't turn them in.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Daikokuya]]

An elderly Yafutoman Black Pirate who sails in a needlessly extravagant ship over Glacia. He challenges Vyse to battle hoping to show him that money can buy power and hoping he'll be able to [[HoYay woo Vyse]] with the promise of money. After his defeat he decides to continue travelling the world. He asks Vyse if they can "warm each other up." Vyse takes evasive action.
----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: [[HoYay Towards Vyse]].
* DirtyOldMan: Makes not-so-subtle come-ons towards Vyse.
* FlunkyBoss: Starts the fight with two bodyguards and will periodically summon more.
%%* HoYay: ''Deliberately'' invoked.
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: Though it doesn't stop him from sending boatloads of gifts.
* ImpossiblyCoolWealth: Which he used to buy an extravagant pirate ship.
* MegaNeko: He fights from the top of a robotic beckoning cat that dwarfs the party, and looks even bigger with his tiny body atop it.
* MiniatureSeniorCitizens: Fighting on top of a giant robot cat.
* MoneyFetish: Close to Osman levels; his S-Move is literally rolling around in a shower of his immense wealth.
* StraightGay: He's not stereotypically gay. Stereotypically ''greedy'', however...
* WhenEldersAttack: He's the oldest Black Pirate encountered.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lord Zivilyn Bane]]

The leader of the Zivilyn Bane Clan of thieves that Vyse has fought in every dungeon. He is found in Soltis and escapes after his defeat.
----
* BigBulkyBomb: That he keeps under his cloak...
* ChestMonster: All of the lesser Zivilyn Banes pop out of chests in the other dungeons, and he comes from a chest in the VeryDefinitelyFinalDungeon.
* CoolShades: Goggles
* TheFaceless: all of the Zivilyn Bane's faces are completely hidden.
* FlunkyBoss: Comes with two Zivilyn Bane in tow, and can summon more.
* GogglesDoNothing: In Soltis, at least. Since the Zivilyn Bane are based in Nasr, they're probably useful there.
* ShootTheMedicFirst: He and his clan tend to target Fina frequently. Perhaps they hate Silvites? Alternatively, he's fought in Soltis, so hating Silvites would make sense somewhat, as he had to go through a lot of annoying Silvite robots to get as deep as he is.
* WolverineClaws: Supersized.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Dyne]]
[[quoteright:180:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/art-dyne_3768.jpg]]

Vyse's father, and captain of the ''Albatross''. He's one of the most famous air pirates in the sky.
----
* DistressedDude: Along with the rest of his crew, after Galcian lines them up on the chopping block.
* FiringOneHanded: "That's funny, I only count four of you."
* InsistentTerminology: "It's not 'Dad,' it's 'Captain,' got it?"
* LovableRogue: The whole gimmick of the Blue Rogues
* PermaStubble: With a small mustache.
* RedBaron: "Dyne of the Blue Storm"
* ShockAndAwe: Implied. He gives Vyse the Yellow Moonstone and it's implied that its electric powers are the ones he uses most.
* WellDoneSonGuy: Though he does lighten up as the story progresses.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Piastol]]
[[quoteright:180:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/art-Piastol_9535.jpg]]

A Legends-exclusive BountyHunter known as the "[[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast Angel of Death]]" who kills wanted Air Pirates (and is wanted by the Armada herself, ironically) and has a vendetta against Vyse and Aika.
----
* BestServedCold: Her main goal is to avenge her family.
* BlackSpot: Her calling card. Whenever she starts hunting a new mark, she delivers one of these to the Sailor's Guild, who then hands it to the poor bastard when he or she walks in. It's a black piece of paper with a threatening message signed by the "[[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast Angel of Death]]". Written in '''red ink.'''
* BladeEnthusiast: Her scythe, knives, and pointed boot guards. Even as a child, Piastol busts out some throwing knives hidden in her Victorian gown. [[spoiler:One of these is what gave Vyse the scar under his left Eye.]]
* BountyHunter: Kills air pirates to collect their bounties. Ironically, she also has a bounty on her head.
* ButForMeItWasTuesday: Inverted. Piastol remembers Vyse from a tragic event from her past but Vyse has no idea what she's talking about. Of course, she refuses to listen to anything they say, which doesn't help things. [[spoiler:Aika, however, remembers the incident because Vyse got hurt protecting her.]]
* ChainmailBikini: A leather dominatrix outfit.
* TheDreaded: Her reputation as a BountyHunter, as well as [[DeadManWalking what the Sailor's Guild clerk says]] as he hands you your BlackSpot, indicates that she is this to Air Pirates.
* DualBoss: She always fights you alongside her trusty Deathhound. It's not nearly as big of a threat as she is, but because it's a green-aligned creature it averts NoCureForEvil by healing her with Sacri spells, poisons the party, and can Fatigue party members with its reasonably chunky standard attack.
* ElementalPowers: Quite a few, but she's mostly a fan of [[BlowYouAway wind]] and [[MakingASplash water]] Blue, [[YinYangBomb Silver]] and her Deathhound's [[PoisonousPerson Poison]] magic.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: Has one on her cheek.
* ItsPersonal: [[spoiler:She thinks Vyse killed her father, and swore to get revenge on him.]]
* KickChick: Those big sharp metal "toes" on her boots aren't just for show; she repeatedly slashes with them while using her Tempest Dance S-Move.
* LittleMissBadass: [[spoiler:Even as child, Piastol was already proficient in the use of throwing knives. When she confronted a young Aika (mistakening her as one of the ones responsible for the fire to her vessel), Piastol did not hesitate to attack her with killing intent.]]
* LongLostRelative: [[spoiler:To Maria.]]
* OneHitKill: Piastol's infamously high success rate with Eterni spells comes from [[GameplayAndStoryIntegration her insanely high will]], which far exceeds your piddly magic defense stats. And that's ''before'' she masters Eternum for her final encounter.
* OptionalBoss: Added in ''Legends''.
* PirateGirl: Kinda. [[BountyHunter She kills Air Pirates to collect the bounties on their heads]], but appears on the most wanted Air Pirates list on Sailor's Island.
* PsychoKnifeNut: She uses throwing knives[[spoiler:, a skill she's honed since childhood]].
* RecurringBoss: Fought four times total, each time powering up her magic and honing her skills. Notably, her Tempest Dance S-Move actually adds more and more animations the more you fight her.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: She becomes one of the most feared [[BountyHunter Bounty Hunters]] in Arcadia because [[spoiler:she believes pirates - specifically, ''Vyse'' - killed her father and younger sister.]]
* SinisterScythe: Hence "Angel of Death."
* SugarAndIcePersonality: [[{{Revenge}} Vengeful]] IceQueen on the outside, [[spoiler:sad, lonely girl who just wants her family back on the inside.]]
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: [[spoiler:She was only 10 when she first encountered Aika and Vyse on the night of her father's death, yet already perfectly willing to slay them both.]] The fact she has already become an infamous Air Pirate slayer at only 17 [[spoiler:just reinforces this]].
* YouKilledMyFather: Too bad for her, [[spoiler:Vyse ''didn't''. It was actually Ramirez.]]
* YoungerThanTheyLook: It's easy to mistake her for a young woman, but she's Aika and Vyse's age (17 years old).

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Admiral Mendosa]]

A character added for the ''Legends'' release. The Lord Admiral of the Valuan Armada before Galcian; [[PosthumousCharacter he died seven years before the events of the game.]]
----
* AffablyEvil: Admiral Mendosa was a friendly and paternalistic leader over his crew and a kind and loving family man. [[spoiler:He was also a horrifyingly corrupt slave trader and criminal kingpin whose regrets over having to kill Ramirez to silence him in no way make him hesitate.]]
* BitchInSheepsClothing: [[spoiler:He was the orchestrator of the slave trading in Ixa'taka despite his seemingly kind nature]].
* BrokenPedestal: [[spoiler:To Ramirez.]]
* CynicismCatalyst: [[spoiler:For Ramirez. His death also served as one to Piastol, though her rage was directed at the wrong man.]]
* KarmicDeath: [[spoiler:After Ramirez discovered what he was doing in Ixa'taka, and after having groomed Ramirez to be his [[TheDragon Dragon]], he ordered Ramirez killed when Ramirez threatened to go to the Empress. [[TooDumbToLive He and his men were slaughtered.]]]]
* PetTheDog:
** Doc's flashbacks show him holding a toddler [[spoiler:Maria]] in his arms, and [[spoiler:Piastol]] seems to idealize the childhood she spent traveling with her family on his flagship. Despite the atrocities he had committed in Ixa'taka, he appeared to have been an affectionate father to his daughters.
** Mendosa also seemed to have genuinely considered Doc and [[spoiler:Ramirez]] to be [[LikeASonToMe like sons to him]]. When [[spoiler:Ramirez]] confronts him about the truth of his enslavement of the Ixa'takans, Mendosa doesn't hide it and actually tries to get [[spoiler:Ramirez]] to understand his desire for wealth and status. When he still shows his appalment with Mendosa's greed and callousness, Mendosa seemed to truly regret that he would have to silence [[spoiler:Ramirez]].
* PosthumousCharacter: He was Galcian's predecessor and died seven years before the start of the game, although [[spoiler:the effects he has left on Ramirez remain]].

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Clara]]
[[quoteright:180:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/art-clara_1838.jpg]]

An air pirate captain who saves Aika and Fina when they get separated from Vyse. She's determined to marry Gilder, whether he wants it or not (he doesn't). Her incredibly pink ship is called the ''Primrose''.
----
* AndNowYouMustMarryMe: Played for laughs, because she became a pirate just to try to track down Gilder and make him make an honest woman out of her.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass:
** She may seem like she [[TheDitz has her head in the clouds]] and is utterly [[MadLove obsessed with Gilder]], but she doesn't think twice about getting her crew and ship to attack ''[[TheAlcatraz The Grand Fortress]]'' to help break Vyse and friends out. And she puts up one hell of a fight!
** Don't forget Gilder was one of those held captive inside. You really don't want to mess with Clara where he's concerned.
** Gunner Nara states that Clara once attacked Gordo just to steal a pie crust.
* ImpracticallyFancyOutfit: A slightly PimpedOutDress is nice, but a tad impractical for a pirate.
* LastSecondWordSwap: "He's so [[AddedAlliterativeAppeal strong, smart, and]]... yummy!"
* MadLove: Poor Gilder, although, despite what he says, it is implied that he is actually quite fond of her. Heck, both of them may even enjoy the chase.
* PinkMeansFeminine: Both her character design and her pirate ship. It's pretty much what gives her away to Gilder.
* PirateGirl: One of the friendliest characters in the game. Don't let the pink fool you though, there's a '' reason'' she's able to sail the skies so freely.
* StalkerWithACrush: Though she's probably the nicest stalker ever. She'll even make you pie. Lampshaded by Aika.
-->'''Aika:''' That was the nicest stalker I've ever met. But at least it explains why her entire ship looks like a honeymoon suite.
* {{Yandere}}: In the most benign, PlayedForLaughs manner possible.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Centime]]

A Blue Rogue well known for his engineering feats. He spends most of the game working on his downed ship, the ''Ironclad'', in Horteka.
----
* TheAllegedCar: His ship has been mired for so long, it's collecting ''moss''. Nevertheless, Centime is banking on his opponents [[WhatAPieceOfJunk underestimating him]].
* GadgeteerGenius: A somewhat famous engineer.
* GagNose: A pointy one.
* HappilyAdopted: He and his wife have adopted several children over the years, and most of them are pretty content with it. [[spoiler:His epilogue states that he goes on to adopt even more children.]]
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: Wears a pair of round glasses, and is quite smart.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Daigo]]

The prince of Yafutoma, who serves as the leader of the Tenkou pirates while in exile.
----
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: He became leader of the Tenkou by becoming their biggest badass.
* MySisterIsOffLimits: Inverted in Enrique's case, because he sees that Enrique is a gentleman who would treat Moegi with respect.
* NobleFugitive: The prince of Yafutoma, living in exile.
* RightfulKingReturns: [[spoiler:He returns to rule Yafutoma after saving it from Valua alongside Vyse.]]
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: Joins Vyse to help root out Kangan and Muraji and take Yafutoma back from Valua.
* ShipperOnDeck: He's rooting for Moegi and Enrique, and is clear about this to Enrique himself after meeting him.
--> '''Daigo''': I can see that you are a man of honor. If someone like you were always at my sister's side, I would sleep well at night. ''(Cue TwiceShy blushing from Moegi and Enrique)'' Hahahaha! It looks like you two wouldn't mind either!
* WalkingShirtlessScene: As the leader of the Tenyu pirates, he is is bearing his chest. It is quite the contrast with his royal attire.
* WarriorPrince: After his exile from the palace, he soon becomes the leading figure in a group of pirates and then he continues fighting for his counry.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:"Doc"]]

A doctor sailing around the Mid Ocean area near Sailor's Island. Formerly served as a medical officer in the Valuan armada. He looks after a young girl named Maria, and enlists Vyse's help in collecting Moonfish for her pet bird.
----
* TheAtoner: He feels responsible for what happened to [[spoiler:Piastol, Ramirez, and Maria.]] Taking care of Maria is his way of trying to atone for that.
* BackStory: Gives one for [[spoiler:Ramirez]].
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: It's implied that "Doc" is just a nickname, given as he introduces himself by saying that's just what everyone called him and his name is in quotations on his character page in the manual. Even so, we never learn his real name.
* EpiphanyTherapy: Downplayed as it takes pretty much the entire game for him to come to terms with his past.
* GuiltComplex: A mild example, as he does blame [[spoiler:Ramirez's mistakes on himself.]]
* HiddenDepths: Was previously a member of the Valuan Armada, and, even more surprisingly, was once a good friend of [[spoiler:Ramirez. He's later shown to feel a large amount of guilt for the way Ramirez, Maria, and Piastol's lives have ended up.]]
* MyGreatestFailure: He blames [[spoiler:Ramirez's HeroicBSOD and subsequent FaceHeelTurn over the fact that he wasn't able to stop him from taking his argument to Galcian, which spurred on the events that led to Mendosa's death and Ramirez's siding with Galcian]].
* NiceGuy: Despite his guilt, he's nothing but personable.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Maria]]

Doc's young charge, who wants Moonfish for her bird.
----
* AmbiguousDisorder: Is heavily implied to suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
* ChildrenAreInnocent: She is presented as totally harmless and gentle. [[spoiler:the opposite of her sister.]]
* CuteMute: Doesn't speak due to trauma. [[spoiler:She eventually thanks Vyse for feeding her bird if he collects enough Moonfish.]]
* LongLostRelative: [[spoiler:She is the sister that Piastol thought she lost.]]
