[=CeCe=]lia "[=CeCe=]" Jones is one of the main characters and [[TheProtagonist the primary lead main protagonist]] on Shake It Up where she dances on the local teen dance show, Shake It Up, Chicago!. She is the daughter of Georgia Jones and J.J. Jones and the older sister of Flynn Jones. She is best friends with Rocky Blue. She lives in an apartment with her mother and brother in the suite below Rocky and her family. Her parents are divorced and her father lives in Florida. She attends John Hughes High School in Chicago, Illinois. She wants to become famous and also wants Rocky to be famous with her.
----
!!!Tropes:
* AntiHero: [=CeCe=] is a brutally honest, bad girl, sassy, sometimes selfish, lazy, spoiled and shallow young girl. She is described as a daring wild child who is uncontrollable, funky, and fun. Initially, she performs poorly in school because of dyslexia, but also because of her behavior as a trouble-maker. She is a minor antagonist on the show. She is sometimes always have to have her way. [=CeCe=] is fearless and outgoing as she is always constantly getting into trouble, even dragging Rocky into these situations. However, [=CeCe=] does care about her friends and family, she just as a unique way of showing sometimes, as she does do nice things for them sometimes. There have been times that [=CeCe=] doesn't see through her mistakes until someone points it out to her but she is very good at making things right to everyone she cares about. Despite initially failing her audition due to stage fright, thanks to Rocky she eventually earned a spot as a background dancer on Shake It Up, Chicago! . [=CeCe=] loves being famous, but what she loves most about fame is sharing it with her best friend, Rocky Blue.
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: With Flynn. Although their relationship is usually shown to be made up of bickering and typical sibling rivalry, [=CeCe=] was the first to comfort him about their failed road trip, even putting her arm around his shoulders and gives him a small hug and a kiss in the cheek. Again, at the end of "Weird It Up" when she apologizes for neglecting him and says that he is more capable than anyone she knows.
* BadassBoast: She get's some in "Surprise It Up".
-->'''Cece:''' Seriously if you wanna get me this year Rocky, gotta step up your game. Because remember I am [=CeCe=] "unsurprisable" Jones!
-->'''Cece:''' I knew you we're gonna say that. See? I can't be surprised!
* BareHandedBladeBlock: In the episode "Oh Brother It Up", [=CeCe=] performs this technique flawlessly on a quarter tossed by Logan. He even compliments her on her cat-like ninja skills.
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: Redhead to Rocky's brunette and Tinka's blonde.
* BookDumb: Initially, she performs poorly in school because of dyslexia, but also because of her behavior as a trouble-maker. However, she gradually improves academically as the series progresses.
* BrattyTeenageDaughter: Far from the worst, but, like Rocky, she has her moments.
* BrilliantButLazy: However, in "Brain It Up", [=CeCe=] discovers the value of studying, and she realizes she just doesn't apply herself enough.
* BrainlessBeauty: Well, "brainless" might be too much of a stretch. See TheDitz.
* ButtMonkey: She and Rocky are put into this role (together or not) in more than a few episodes.
* CharacterDevelopment:
** In season 1, [=CeCe=] is introduced as a very determined young girl with big dreams of becoming a famous dancer. She doesn't care about school and gets a lot of detention. She always fights for what she wants and pushes Rocky to do the same. She is known as a troublemaker and is shown to be quite selfish, but her heart is always in the right place.
** [=CeCe=] is [[TookALevelInDumbass more ditzy]] in season 2, but she is also shown to be a little more mature and hardworking. She is still quite selfish and egotistical, but not as much as before. It also becomes obvious how much she cares about Rocky. Her dreams are even bigger than they used to be. She wants to become a famous dancer, a popstar, a movie star, and a singing toothbrush. She also wants to share all of this with Rocky, which is why she pushes her to do crazy things all the time.
** Finally in season 3, [=CeCe=] is a little more caring and doesn't seem as selfish as she used to be. She starts to see that things aren't always going to go her way and she tries to accept this. She seems to care about her friends and family's happiness more and fame isn't the most important thing to her anymore. Her smart side is also shown as she improves academically. She is much more supportive and seems to have become a better friend to Rocky.
* ClingyJealousGirl: In a non-romantic way towards Rocky.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: [=CeCe=] has her moments, due to her ditziness.
* ComicallyMissingThePoint:
-->'''[=CeCe=]:''' She's a gold finger.\
'''Rocky:''' Digger.\
'''[=CeCe=]:''' No, I don't dig her. She's a user.
* CompressedVice: [[spoiler:It is mentioned in exactly one episode that [=CeCe=] has dyslexia]]. It is never brought up again.
* CoolBigSis: When she needs to be. She genuine cares for Flynn, even though she usually doesn't show it.
* CuteWitch: [=CeCe=]'s costume in "Beam It Up".
* DeadpanSnarker: When she isn't being a ditz, tends to snark a lot.
* {{Delinquent}}: Was shown to be a detention regular.
* TheDeterminator: Well, if it works out for her.
* DisappearedDad: Her parents are divorced and she lives with her mother.
* TheDitz: Doesn't know what Pittsburgh is. Though surprisingly, her dyslexia is not brought up again.
* EasilyForgiven: Averted. [[spoiler:[=CeCe=]'s irrational hatred towards Logan had already done too much damage. When [=CeCe=] does try to make amends, one slip up became the last straw for Logan, who makes it clear that he does not forgive [=CeCe=] after all she had done to him]]. However, [[spoiler: in the future-set episode, [=CeCe=] and Logan are married, so he must have forgiven her somewhere along the line.]]
* EmbarrassingFirstName: Cecelia.
* {{Expy}}:
** Possibly of Chelsea from ''Series/ThatsSoRaven'', but this time, she's not the sidekick.
** Of [[Series/ICarly Sam Puckett]], to some.
* FeigningIntelligence: [=CeCe=] does this twice. First when she starts dating James and tries to be smart like him and second when she goes on a date with a blind guy who is also very smart and pretends to like whatever he says.
* FieryRedhead: She's very outspoken and impulsive, and she can be fiery on occasion.
* {{Flanderization}}: [=CeCe=] goes from being an average student to a girl who doesn't know what Pittsburgh is ''in one episode''.
* FlirtyStepsiblings: [=CeCe=] and Logan give off these vibes, in a BelligerentSexualTension sort of way, although [[spoiler: their parents end up calling off their wedding]]. [[spoiler: In the future-set episode, [=CeCe=] and Logan are married.]]
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: The Foolish to Flynn's Responsible.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: Choleric
* GeniusDitz: In "Apply It Up", she reveals she knows she is far from the best student, but once she starts dancing, she gets to be a genius. Possibly HiddenDepths, considering her best friend of nearly a decade is the smartest girl in school seeing as Candy Cho has left.
* HeelFaceDoorSlam: In ''Love and War it Up'', [[spoiler:[=CeCe=] tries to be a better person for Logan, but after an accident involving [=CeCe=] during his badminton game, Logan doesn't buy her attempt at redemption. Of course, [=CeCe=] acted like a jerk towards Logan ever since he fired her for legitimate reasons, and this damaged their relationship beyond forgiveness and redemption]].
* HeroicBSOD: In "Made in Japan", after their fight and ending friendship, [=CeCe=] has her heart broken when Rocky not only hurt her feelings but also when she didn't believe her side of story, although she doesn't blame her for being mad at her. However, despite her hurt feelings, [=CeCe=] finally reached her breaking point as she had enough of everyone, especially Rocky, not believing her as a person but hide her hurt feelings with a smile, even to her own family.
* HiddenDepths: She pushes Rocky to fulfill her dreams because Rocky is the one who convinced [=CeCe=] to continue dancing when they were little, and is trying to repay her.
* IllKillYou: Towards Rocky after Tinka dyes [=CeCe=]'s hair green and frames Rocky. Later on directs this Gunther and Tinka
* ImagineTheAudienceNaked: [=CeCe=] suggests this to Rocky at the audition so she's not intimidated by the other dancers. It backfires horribly when this produces some rather disturbing mental images.
** [[spoiler:It backfires again when [=CeCe=] comes down with PerformanceAnxiety and Rocky reminds her to do this. The only person [=CeCe=] can imagine naked is herself.]]
* InformedAbility: [=CeCe=]'s matchmaking skills. It's only brought up in one episode, and the match in that episode didn't hold up so well. And her ability to never be surprised. Could've just been for parties, but she claims to know everything.
* {{Jerkass}}: Concerning her 'leadership' in her friendship with Rocky. It has been showed, and has been the subject of an episode, that she takes control and decides what they're going to do without so much as telling Rocky. Even worse, when Rocky does it, [=CeCe=] looks shocked someone would do that, and Rocky calls her out on it.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She can be very impulsive and known for her selfish moments but she does care about her friends and family, she just as a unique way of showing sometimes, as she does do nice things for them sometimes and she is always trying to help Rocky come out of her shell.
* {{Malaproper}}
* ManipulativeBitch: She may be TheDitz, but she also manipulates her friends, especially Rocky for her own ends.
* TheMatchMaker: [=CeCe=] plays Matchmaker for Deuce and Dina in "Match It Up".
* MeaningfulName: 'Cecelia' means blind. She has dyslexia.
* MsFanservice: To an extent (see PaintedOnPants).
* NeverMyFault: In ''Oh Brother It Up'', she refuses to own up to her lack of responsibility and when Logan fires her, she just blames everything on him.
** [=CeCe=] selfishly causes her mother and Jeremy to break up in "Merry Merry It Up" and insists throughout the episode that she has nothing to do with the breakup, repeatedly saying "SHE BROKE UP WITH HIM!!!!". It wasn't until she had {{Yet Another Christmas Carol}} experience that she finally realizes her mistake and gets them back together.
* OddCouple: Whenever they're interacting as friends, [=CeCe=] and Tinka are more likely to team up.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Her real name is Cecelia.
* PaintedOnPants: Her main means of {{fanservice}}.
* PerformanceAnxiety: [[spoiler:[=CeCe=] suffers it in the Pilot episode, which is ironic since she was the most confident about the audition.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: Red to Rocky's Blue.
* RunningGag: Apparently, no one in-universe likes her bangs.
* ShipTease: With both Deuce and Gunther.
* SmallNameBigEgo
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: There's little consensus over whether the second "C" should be capitalized.
* TokenWhite: Among her circle of friends.
** Subverted backstage: Bella Thorne is actually Latina! [=CeCe=] is meant to be Caucasian, though.
* TookALevelInJerkass: In Season 3.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: According to Creator/BellaThorne, [=CeCe=] is the Tomboy to Rocky's Girly Girl. Rocky & [=CeCe=] have also been compared to [[Series/ICarly Carly & Sam]], respectively. But as seen below, it mostly Depends On The Writer.
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: Played with. [=CeCe=] is a street smart troublemaker and gets a lot of detention at school. However she's also into fashion and rather ditzy and boy crazy.
* UnsympatheticComedyProtagonist: At her worst.
* WearingAFlagOnYourHead: [=CeCe=] is particularly fond of the [[UsefulNotes/{{Britain}} Union Jack]], and wears it on everything from jackets to karate uniforms.
* ZanyScheme: The one behind most of them.

Raquel "Rocky" Oprah Blue is one of the main protagonists and the lead {{Deuteragonist}} on Shake It Up where she dances on the local teen dance show Shake It Up, Chicago! However, in "Ty It Up", she was kicked off the show because the new producer wanted fresh, new faces. She is the daughter of Marcie Blue and Curtis Blue and the younger sister of Ty Blue. She lives in an apartment with her family in the suite above her best friend, [=CeCe=] Jones, and her family. Her father is a doctor who later returned in the second season after being away on business trips and working overseas. She attends John Hughes High School in Chicago, Illinois.
----
!!!Tropes:
* AcademicAthlete: Rocky does well in school and takes part in athletic activities.
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: Rocky is a tall and mature girl with dark brown hair.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: At least until "Heat It Up". Both her parents appear to be black. Zendaya herself is half German/Scottish and half black.
* AmbiguouslyBi: Even discounting the ton of LesYay she has with [=CeCe=], in "Tunnel It Up" she's definitely put out that the Captain of the basketball team didn't ask her to the dance. The ''girls'' basketball team.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: In Ty's eyes anyway.
* BadassBookworm: Badass being arguable. She does get to show some of this in "Whodunit Up?" though.
* BerserkButton:
** Being called a bad friend.
** She seems to have been teased far too often in the past for a "growth spurt" that led to her tallness, and is very sensitive about potshots made at her height (she was called "giraffe" by her classmates), even from [=CeCe=]. And she ''will'' let you know about it.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: If you mess with her friends, or just straight up royally piss her off, she will tell you off. Too bad nothing has been made of her taking karate.
%% * BlackAndNerdy
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: Brunette to [=CeCe=]'s redhead and Tinka's blonde.
* BrainyBrunette: In her team of BeautyBrainsAndBrawn with [=CeCe=] and Tinka, she's the brunette and definitely the smartest.
* ButtMonkey: She and [=CeCe=] are put into this role (together or not) in more than a few episodes.
* CannotTellAJoke: She's not very good at that, and it's kind of a RunningGag.
* CassandraTruth: Told [=CeCe=] it was Tinka who was sabotaging her.
* TheCastShowOff: Well, she is a dancer on a show about dancing. ".
* CatFight: Though not an actual one in extent, but she and [=CeCe=] do hit one another while at therapy.
* CharacterDevelopment:
** In season 1, Rocky at first was very scared if this happened and was scared of "big kids", she was unsure of herself and wasn't sure if she should follow her dancing dream or not by auditioning for Shake It Up, Chicago!, she cared a lot about her record at school and was very smart, she was hardworking and cared a lot about school. She also freaked out a lot if something bad happened but she always does it anyway by being persuaded by Cece.
** Rocky was a little more authoritative and confident in season 2. She would often stand up to others and take charge in situations, something that she wouldn't have done in the first season.
** And in season 3, Rocky is a lot more confident, one of the most confident character on the show. She is a more fearless and is outgoing and casual, she focused more on dancing then school but she is still really smart, Rocky also handled things more maturely then she did in other seasons like not being chosen for Shake It Up, Chicago!. She also stood up for her friends a lot but also thought she could handle anything but realizes she can't, she also tries to get in a good college so she have a good career.
* CoolBigSis: When Rocky is about to leave for New York in "Model It Up", Flynn says he's losing his favorite big sister.
* CuteBruiser: Arguably. She only had limited karate training, but she's undeniably cute. She'd qualify for GirlyBruiser as well.
* DaddysGirl: Tries her hardest to get his approval, and he even has a trick to go to her school to give her hugs. Ty, too.
* DeadpanSnarker: One of the biggest. See SilentSnarker below.
* EmbarrassingFirstName: Raquel, of all things.
* FollowInMyFootsteps: Rocky's dad wants her to be a doctor just like him and is opposed to her dancing on Shake It Up Chicago... at least at first.
* {{Forgiveness}}: Rocky had a hard time forgiving [=CeCe=] for the times she got her into trouble. Although, in ''Shrink it Up'', Rocky does forgive [=CeCe=] for the events of ''Meatball it Up'' and ''Party it Up''. However, out of all the times [=CeCe=] got her into trouble, Rocky holds the events of ''Shake It Up, Up & Away'' as the worst one she ever did because those events caused her to have a fear of flying and brought it up twice to her along with mentioning in a flashback. After hearing [=CeCe=]'s reasons in ''Shrink it Up'' and took her to a hypnotist to help her get over of her fear of flying in ''Shake it Up: Made in Japan, Rocky isn't upset with her about it anymore but could't forgive her. However, in ''Remember Me'', when [=CeCe=] got amnesia and could't remember their friendship, Rocky not only realized how bad of a friend she has been for not forgiving and letting go of her actions but also forgives her for the events of ''Shake It Up, Up & Away'', which helped [=CeCe=] get her memory back, especially when she tells her how much she needs her.
* ForgivenButNotForgotten: Rocky does forgive [=CeCe=] for the trouble she puts them into but hasn't forgotten as she brings it up a couple of times. However, overtime, Rocky does let got of [=CeCe=]'s actions and tries to see more of her good quality over her bad ones.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: Melancholic
* GeekPhysique: Is quite tall (5'10"), skinny, and also the biggest nerd opposed to Henry on the show.
* GenkiGirl
* GoGetterGirl: A total overachiever, in contrast to [=CeCe=].
* GranolaGirl: She is a vegetarian and believes strongly in human and animal rights.
* HiddenDepths: Seen in "Apply It Up". During the interview, she initally starts out by accompanying herself with [=CeCe=]. Sudden mood change when she reveals she was bullied as a child. See KidsAreCruel.
* HugeSchoolGirl: At 5'10, who wouldn't be?
* HypocriticalHumor: Gets on to [=CeCe=] for lying, in the same episode she lies as well.
* ImportantHairCut: Averted kinda. Her hair grew and became much darker and sleeker.
* InformedFlaw: Her height, though Kenton Duty (Gunther) at 6'1 is noticeably taller, and her enormous feet, which apparently are large enough for her to wear Ty's shoes.
* KidDetective: In "Whodunit Up?"
* KidsAreCruel: During her interview in "Apply It Up", she talks about going through a drastic growth spurt, and other kids calling her names like "Giraffe" and "Tree", and that it's only when she's dancing does she feel that she's graceful instead of awkward.
** Further proving a certain WMG.
* LargeHam: Her facial expressions are always a bit over the top.
* MoralityChain: She has this role to [=CeCe=], to make sure she doesn't get into too much trouble.
* MsFanservice: There's no stopping showing off her legs.
* NerdsAreSexy: Admit it, you can't wait to see Zendaya all grown up.
* NiceGirl: Nicer than [=CeCe=], and certainly more reasonable.
* ObsessedWithPerfectAttendance: She has perfect attendance and has gone to some pretty extreme lengths to keep it, including setting three alarms every morning, eating vegetables she despises to aid her immune system, and even missing her great-aunt's funeral. The realization she will lose her record if she gets suspended is finally enough to snap her out of a temporary {{Walk On The Wild Side|Episode}} in response to being classified as a goodie-goodie.
* OddCouple: Whenever they're interacting as friends, Rocky and Gunther are more likely to team up.
* OddFriendship: With Tinka and/or Gunther at times.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Apparently hates her first name. Though in a flashback, she was insistent on being called Raquel. To be fair, she was five.
* ThePerfectionist: Considering her grades.
* RedOniBlueOni: Blue to [=CeCe=]'s Red.
* TheRival: Candy stinkin' Cho!
* RunningGag: Her height being the the topic of many jokes, usually from the considerably shorter [=CeCe=]. Though Kenton Duty is [[OneHeadTaller noticeably taller]] than Zendaya.
* [[SassyBlackWoman Sassy Black Girl]]: She's only sassy when she gets angry.
* ShipTease: With Gunther and Deuce.
* ShoeSizeAngst: Has enormous feet, big enough to wear her brother's shoes.
* {{Sidekick}}: To [=CeCe=]. It's often pointed out, and she seems to resent it.
* SilentSnarker: Best example: "Sweat It Up".
* SomebodyDoesntLoveRaymond: Spends an entire episode trying to get an old lady to like her.
* StatuesqueStunner: She stands at 5'10. While she is insecure about her height (and was made fun of for it as a child), she's still considered attractive.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Probably the only character who is not a jerk, and not to mention sane and rational minded.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Seemingly the Girly Girl to [=CeCe=]'s Tomboy, but with closer look Rocky takes part in more athletic activities, is slightly less fashion crazy and boy crazy (especially in later episodes). Mostly DependingOnTheWriter.
* TomboyishName: Her nickname "Rocky" is not very feminine.
* TheUnfavorite: Concerning the four main dancers, especially on Shake It Up! Chicago, she is often treated as such. Even by [=CeCe=].

Flynn Jones is a main character on Shake It Up. He is the youngest character of them all on the show at 11 years old. He is the son of Georgia Jones and J.J. Jones and the younger brother of "[=CeCe=]" Jones. He lives in an apartment with his mom and sister in the suite below the Blue family. He is often babysitted by some of his friends; Ty Blue, Deuce Martinez, and sometimes Gunther Hessenheffer (along with Tinka Hessenheffer). He is often seen with his best friend Henry Dillon. He attends an elementary school in Chicago, Illinois. His parents are divorced and his father lives in Florida.
----
Tropes Associated With Flynn Jones:
* AdorablyPrecociousChild: He handwaves that he's "the only responsible person around here", and even got a model to like him, saying he's adorable.
* AffectionateNickname: Ty calls Flynn "Little {''Noun''}", i.e. "Little Dude" or "Little Man".
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: To [=CeCe=].
* BrilliantButLazy: He's more than capable of running circles around the rest of the cast and is even hired by a toy company in one episode for his product expertise, but he'd rather focus on his video games and just being a kid.
** According to [=CeCe=], he installed wifi at three and helped with tax refund at six. Sometimes you gotta wonder why his mom thought he needs Henry to rub off to him.
%% * ButtMonkey
* {{Catchphrase}}: Flynn's shout when he answers the door:
-->'''Flynn:''' I'll get it, Mom!
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: Flynn went from being just a prankster to actually showing a surprising amount of intelligence and even maturity, [[FridgeBrilliance almost as if Rocky is starting to rub off on him]].
* DeadpanSnarker: Of the MouthyKid variety, obviously.
* {{Expy}}: Flynn is very similar to Gabe Duncan from ''Series/GoodLuckCharlie''. He also resembles Matt [=McGuire=] from ''Series/LizzieMcGuire''.
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: The Responsible to [=CeCe=]'s Foolish.

* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Bacon.
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: Website/TheOtherWiki uses this exact phrase to describe him.
%% * WithFriendsLikeThese: With Henry.

He is friends with "[=CeCe=]" Jones, Gunther Hessenheffer and Deuce Martinez. He lives in an apartment in Chicago, Illinois with his family in the suite above the Jones family, for whom he often babysits Flynn Jones. His father is a doctor that returned in the second season after being away on business trips and working overseas. Although he is a very good dancer, he does not want to go try out for Shake It Up, Chicago!, claiming he doesn't "dance for the man". Instead, he aspires to be a rapper. Later, he changes his mind and reveals to his sister Rocky that he does want to be a dancer on Shake It Up, Chicago! and attends the auditions for the revamped version of the show, with Tinka Hessenheffer as his dance partner. He is eventually made the show's new host. He attends John Hughes High School.
----
Tropes Associated With Ty Blue:

* AloofBigBrother: To Rocky.

Martin "Deuce" Martinez is a main character on Shake It Up. He has been described as a con-man, usually seen selling random things from the inside of his jacket. Deuce has connections to everything ("Add It Up"). His father George Martinez was seen in a episode but not his mother or sister, however they were mentioned. He has many family members. A handful of his cousins have been seen in different episodes. His most prominent family member is Uncle Frank, who owns Crusty's, where Deuce works. He attends John Hughes High School in Chicago, Illinois with his friends, Ty Blue, Rocky Blue, and "[=CeCe=]" Jones. He usually babysits Flynn Jones and is in a strong relationship with Dina Garcia. He can speak fluent Spanish, as seen in "Twist It Up" and "Weird It Up".
----
Tropes Associated With Martin "Deuce" Martinez:

* AfraidOfBlood: In "Break It Up", Deuce faints after Rocky shows him how her foot is badly cut.
* BabiesEverAfter: In the future, Deuce and Dina end up with EIGHT kids. And likely more to come...
* BilingualBonus: Deuce is fluent in Spanish. Justified since it's Adam Irigoyen's first language.
* BirdsOfAFeather: With Dina.
* ButtMonkey: Sometimes he's the butt of other characters's jokes.

* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: "Deuce" is not his real name but everyone around him considers his nickname as his real name unless he's introducing himself or gets into trouble with authority figures, such as his parents or teachers. In the Series Final, Deuce didn't want to be acknowledged by his nickname anymore and wanted to go by his true name, much to Dina and his friends annoyances. However, after "[=CeCe=]" recovered from her amnesia and remembers him by his nickname instead of his given name, Deuce realized the mistake he made and decided to stick with his nickname instead of his given one.
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Ty's blue.

Tinka Hessenheffer is a main character in the TV series, Shake It Up. Tinka dances on the local popular teen dance show, Shake It Up, Chicago!. She is the daughter of Kashlack Hessenheffer and Squitza Hessenheffer and the fraternal twin sister of Gunther Hessenheffer. She lives in an apartment with her family in Chicago, Illinois and attends John Hughes High School with fellow Shake It Up, Chicago! dancers, Rocky Blue and [=CeCe=] Jones. There rarely is a time when Tinka isn't making a remark to [=CeCe=] and Rocky with her brother, Gunther. She has been an exchange student since the first grade, which is weird because she remembers a lot from home, and was born in a small mountain country in Europe that has never been addressed by name, but referred to many times. She was a recurring character in Season 1, although being one of the core characters in the show, likely due to Disney Channel's strict rule of having only 6 starring cast members on all their programs, but was upgraded to a main cast member in Season 2. Once frenemies, she became friends with Rocky Blue and [=CeCe=] Jones in Fire It Up.
----
Tropes Associated With Gunther and Tinka Hessenheffer:

* {{Alpha Bitch}}es: Gunther and Tinka {{subvert|ed Trope}} this: they act like Alpha Bitches to Rocky and [=CeCe=], but given their FunnyForeigner[=/=]{{Cloudcuckoolander}} status, they're anything but.
* AmbiguouslyBi[=/=]CampStraight: Gunther is very flamboyant and loves wearing sparkly tight clothes, but in one episode he has a crush on a girl and asks Ty for help to get her. In fact, Ty basically told Gunther not to be as flamboyant.
* {{Anti Hero}}ine: Tinka leans more towards this in season 3.
* BigBadDuumvirate: Until Gunther is PutOnABus and Tinka has a HeelFaceTurn. In other episodes, they serve as {{Token Evil Teammate}}s
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: Tinka's the blonde to [=CeCe=]'s redhead and Rocky's brunette.
* BrilliantButLazy: Or, to be more accurate, brilliant, but too preoccupied with their looks (as implied in Protest It Up, where they learn Russian and build a house by themselves, among other things, with the free time the uniforms give them).
* BrotherSisterTeam: Fraternal twins, best friends, and dance partners.
* {{Catchphrase}}:
-->'''Gunther:''' I'm Gunther!\
'''Tinka:''' And I'm Tinka!\
'''Together:''' And we are THE HESSENHEFFERS!
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: Gunther and Tinka went from being {{Alpha Bitch}}es to simply {{Funny Foreigner}}s... ''[[DependingOnTheWriter sometimes]]''.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}s: The most obvious examples, being over-the-top {{Funny Foreigner}}s.
* CommutingOnABus: Kenton Duty who plays Gunther has dropped down from main character status to recurring character status as of Season 3. There is a WrittenInAbsence in the season premiere as it is explained that [[spoiler:Gunther has returned to his homeland to both care for his ailing grandmother and help squelch a revolution.]]
* CoordinatedClothes: They would coordinate their rather extravagant outfits.
* {{Deadpan Snarker}}s: ''Always'' making snide remarks about Rocky and [=CeCe=].
* DefrostingIceQueen: Tinka's CharacterDevelopment in Season 3.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: They do love each other.
* {{Expy}}: WordOfGod has it that Gunther and Tinka were inspired by [[Film/HighSchoolMusical Ryan and Sharpay Evans]]. Right down to the BrotherSisterIncest. An AmbiguouslyGay (aside from said sister incest) guy. However, unlike Sharpay, Tinka isn't an AlphaBitch (in fact, her status as a FunnyForeigner makes her a target for real {{Alpha Bitch}}es). That gets to Gunther... a bit.
* FriendlyEnemy: To [=CeCe=] and Rocky.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Most of the time. Unfortunately, they refuse to accept or believe that.
* {{Foreign Exchange Student}}s: Apparently since the first grade.
* {{Funny Foreigner}}s: They are exchange student and quite...eccentric.
* HalfIdenticalTwins: They look and act very similar, except for their genders.
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: How much they act antagonistic or are in relatively friendly terms with the main cast it varies DependingOnTheWriter.
* HeelFaceTurn: Seemingly. Once Gunther leaves, she feels lonely afterwards, and now Tinka wants to fully be friends with Rocky, [=CeCe=], and co.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: They're both completely delusional egomaniacs but they do genuinely love each other as siblings and they even have some friendships with the other main characters who they often irritate. Tinka especially has shades of this after her HeelFaceTurn.
* LargeHam: They act hilariously over-the-top at times.
* {{Lovable Alpha Bitch}}es: Gunther and Tinka simultaneously live up to and subvert this trope. specifically the "Alpha Bitch" part.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: Gunther, but not in a physical way. He reads other people's e-mails.
* OddCouple: Whenever they're interacting as friends, Rocky and Gunther are more likely to team up as are [=CeCe=] and Tinka.
* PardonMyKlingon: In "Split It Up", upon hearing that Gary has chosen [=CeCe=] over her as Gunther's dance partner for a ''Wake Up Chicago'' appearance, Tinka rattles off a blue streak in her native tongue that Gunther declines to translate.
* PromotionToOpeningTitles: Tinka in season 2.
* PutOnABus: Gunther in Season 3.
* RedOniBlueOni: Gunther is mostly the red while Tinka is mostly the blue. However there are other times where Gunther is the blue while Tinka is the red.
* ReformedButRejected: Tinka in the beginning of Season 3.
* RoyalBlood: In "Vatalihootsit It Up", it's revealed that the Hessenheffers are the royal family back in their home country. Their mother gave up being the crown princess to marry their father.
* RummageSaleReject: Gunter and Tinka are never seen without these kind of clothes. At one point they wore burglar outfits that ''[[EverythingsBetterWithSparkles sparkled]]''.
* SheCleansUpNicely: Tinka, [[spoiler:when she goes on her date with Ty in "Add It Up"]] and again in "Tunnel It Up" after [[spoiler:she loses all the layers of her dress. It's even lampshaded by Deuce.]]
* ShipTease: Tinka with Ty. Gunther with Rocky and [=CeCe=].
* SupremeChef: "Oh Brother It Up" reveals Tinka is a excellent cake maker.
--->'''Tinka:''' Well, lucky for you, I am the greatest specialty cake maker my country has ever produced!
* SingleMindedTwins: A villainous version.
* TokenEvilTeammate: Both of them are kind of this in the first two seasons, though the "evil" part is very much PlayedForLaughs.
* TookALevelInKindness: Tinka, after Gunther left. Now she has become best friends with Rocky and [=CeCe=].
* VitriolicBestBuds: Tinka with [=CeCe=] and Rocky in Season 3.
