!Ruins Residents

The Ruins' residents are a group of humans-turned-Shadows who became trapped in the Aoi-Uchi Treatment Facility after the Eversion. Though not all of them were transformed by the same methods, the transformations warped not just their bodies, but their personalities. Over the past ten years, the residents have worked toward their own agendas and come into inevitable conflict with each other over their individual solutions. Now that Persona users have begun to awaken in the Ruins, the residents have been faced with the choice of whether to ally themselves with them or stand against them, and now have to confront the source of their own power...

----

* LiteralTransformativeExperience: The transformation into a Shadow involves merging with one's own mental Shadow (a process referred to by Shadow Rokuru as becoming "a one-sided coin"), causing the darker sides of one's personality to become more prominent while the subtler edges of one's personality are erased. The change is so dramatic that Mana doesn't even consider herself the same person that she was before her transformation.
* MythicalMotifs: All of the residents are associated with the myth of the Minotaur and the Labyrinth.
* OlderThanTheyLook: None of the residents have aged in the ten years since becoming Shadows, though they have made minor changes to their appearances since then. Ken and Mana are close to their thirties chronologically, but they still look like how they did in high school.
* ProHumanTranshuman: Despite their differing motivations (and the different relationships with the Persona users that come with them), none of them really see their transformations as a net positive and are firmly on the side of keeping the Ruins and Shadows out of Nagashima.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: Comes with being a Shadow.

!!Yoko Yamaguchi / Ms. Yellow

->Arcana: XVI - The Tower

The head scientist of the facility that became the Ruins, and the BigBad for the early parts of the site. In her human life, she was a famous pathologist who worked with the [=NIID=] (Japan's equivalent of the [=CDC=]) for much of her career before being hired to head up Matsumoto Technologies' Aoi-Uchi Syndrome research. After Mana Kogane transformed into a Shadow during her treatment for Aoi-Uchi, Yamaguchi made the decision to seal all of the researchers and patients inside the facility.

Following the Eversion, Yamaguchi transformed into a Shadow and used her powers to form a powerful barrier around the ruins of the laboratory to keep Shadows from leaving it. Since that time, she has focused her efforts on chasing the Persona users out of the ruins of the lab, keeping them from finding any documentation of what happened in the Ruins, and warring with Mana Kogane.
----
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: The head scientist at the facility before its destruction, and now one of the strongest Shadows in the Ruins.
* BarrierMaiden: Maintains the barrier that keeps Shadows from leaking into Nagashima proper. However, it also keeps her and the other residents trapped inside, which is the source of her conflict with Mana.
* BigBad: At least at first. Recent revelations have proven that it's not quite that simple.
* CoolOldLady: Well, she's in her fifties, but she's significantly older than the median age of the site, so she counts.
* GoneHorriblyRight: Yamaguchi delved into human experimentation during her time as the research facility's head because it was the only way she could see to solve the Hoculus problem. Her solution (turning people into Shadows) worked, but by turning Mana into a Shadow, she paved the way for the creation of the Ruins.
* IronLady: Definitely has shades of this, as she's tough, ruthless, cold, and led a mostly male staff at the research facility before its destruction.
* MadScientist: Seemed that way at first, until people figured out her true character.
* MythicalMotifs: Is strongly associated with Daedalus, due to her role in constructing the Ruins but ultimately being trapped by it.
* NecessarilyEvil: At one point, saving her patients from Hoculus was more important to her than medical ethics, ultimately leading her to commit crimes in service of doing so. These days, she sees her actions then as a sin, but that they were necessary to save the Hoculus patients.
* PerpetualFrowner: Smiles very, very rarely, and almost never at the Persona users who are constantly bothering her.

!!Mana Kogane / Ms. Gold / Ariadne

->Arcana: XVIII - The Moon

A former patient of the laboratory before she became a Shadow. She was originally a student at Taiyoutono High and Ken Tsurugi's girlfriend, but upon contracting Aoi-Uchi Syndrome (better known as Hoculus), she was taken to the Aoi-Uchi Treatment Facility. The treatment used upon her transformed her into a Shadow, curing her Hoculus but costing her her humanity.

After Persona users began to awaken in the Ruins, Mana began to work alongside them to help free herself and the other residents from Yamaguchi's barrier. However, it's been recently discovered that Mana has connections to the Qlippoths and is not just capable, but willing to transform others into Shadows like herself, calling her true intentions into question.
----
* AmbiguouslyEvil: Mana's potential ties to the Entity are well known at this point, and she was the one responsible for Eun-mi Choi being turned into a Shadow. However, she's also made it clear at multiple points that she wants to believe in the Persona users and would prefer this to end in a way that's best for everyone.
* BigEater: Has a notable appetite, and one of the quickest ways to summon her is to bring her food. She claims that this is due to her being able to appreciate food more now that she doesn't need it, but the other residents don't share her appetite.
* BigGood: At least at first. Recent revelations have proven that it's not quite that simple.
* DoesNotLikeSpam: She refuses to eat rice balls, to the point that she destroyed a package she was given the moment her visitors left the room.
* MasterOfThreads: Her custom skills involve using magically-manipulated threads to lock down her opponents, and her standard skills are generally fluffed as involving webs or string in some way.
* MythicalMotifs: Is strongly associated with Ariadne, the daughter of King Minos who helped Theseus defeat the Minotaur. Her skills largely involve strings and dungeon navigation, and the Persona that Treo formed through their Social Link took the form of Ariadne.
* PetTheDog: Despite being AmbiguouslyEvil at best, Mana did spare Sumio from being transformed into a Shadow, when she really didn't have to do that.
* RelationshipRevolvingDoor: She and Ken have apparently, over the course of the decade they've spent trapped in the Ruins, been in and out of relationships multiple times. The two of them are currently on the outs, leaving Mana free to flirt with anyone she takes interest in.
* SuperEmpowering: Can turn others into Shadows like herself.
* TheTease: Loves to flirt with anyone who she takes interest in. Considering she's a Shadow, this probably has darker implications.

!!Eiji Hachirou / The Gunman
->Arcana: VII - The Chariot

A former policeman who worked for the facility as a security guard before his transformation into a Shadow. Though he was originally aligned with Yamaguchi, these days he and Tsurugi prefer to work together to seek a solution to the Ruins problem.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Bulls. He's associated with the Minotaur, can be described as "bull-headed" and stubborn, and is often quick to anger.
* TheBigGuy: Loud, boisterous, and the powerhouse of the Residents. He's even a literal "big guy" -- every physical description of Hachirou refers to him being built like a brick house. Could have been considered TheBrute during Yamaguchi's time as the main antagonist.
* GunNut: In spades. There's a reason why the community took to calling him the Gunman before they learned his real name.

!!Ken Tsurugi / The Swordsman
->Arcana: XVII - The Star

Mana Kogane's ex-boyfriend and heir to a kenjutsu dojo in Nagashima. He tried to break into the treatment facility to rescue Mana on the day of the Eversion and was transformed into a Shadow by its effects, becoming trapped in the Ruins with all of the others. Though he was originally aligned with Mana, their relationship became strained, leading him to split off from her and team up with Hachirou to find a new solution.
----
* KatanasAreJustBetter: Uses a katana as his main weapon. Justified -- his family specializes in kenjutsu.
* MythicalMotifs: Is strongly associated with Theseus, the hero who defeated the Minotaur. His Shadow form in particular seems to be based on the Ship of Theseus paradox, with his appearance resembling a nautical-themed samurai, and one of his custom skills involving taking parts of other Shadows into himself to heal his wounds.
* RedRightHand: One of his hands is black and inhuman looking, due to having absorbed a Shadow to replace the hand he lost in a fight with Mana.
* RelationshipRevolvingDoor: Him and Mana are constantly on the ins-and-outs with each other due to how long they've been in the Ruins together. They're currently on the "outs" due to an incident that ended in him losing his hand.
* TheStoic: Doesn't talk a lot, and when he does, it's generally curt or snarky.

----

!The Velvet Room

!!Salome and Elijah

The pair of siblings that manage the Velvet Room, who claim to serve an absent master. The two work to assist the Persona users of Nagashima, serving as advisors and helping to grant new powers to them. The two claim to be the "cousins" of the Velvet Room attendants seen in the games.

----
!!Tropes that apply to both
* AlmightyJanitor: Appear to just be a conductor and a bartender, but the two are likely the strongest beings in Nagashima outside of the Entity.
* HumansThroughAlienEyes: Overlaps with CloudCuckooLander. The two have some... strange ideas about human society and modern life, and it comes through in their more casual conversations.
* MrExposition: The two have spent a lot of time explaining the metaphysics of the world to other Persona users.
* OrderVersusChaos: Loosely align themselves along these lines, but often act in ways that fall outside the Law/Chaos dichotomy.
* Superboss: The two occasionally either request or are challenged to fights, but their power levels are clearly higher than most Persona users can handle at this point in the story, possibly stronger than any of the other plotline bosses.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: Though theirs do not glow, unlike the Shadows of the site.
* ThrowTheBookAtThem: Gladly will use the Persona Compendium they carry around as a summoning tool as a weapon as well.
----
!!Tropes that apply exclusively to Salome

* BloodKnight: It turns out that Salome is really into getting into fights, as Ren, Yuki, and Jin unfortunately found out when they fought her.
->"That's it! Swallow your fear! Make my blood boil, just like he did!"
* FusionDance: Performs this for Wild Cards when they want to fuse and manifest new Personas.
* IceQueen: Salome's outward personality.
* InVinoVeritas: Salome's favorite method of getting to know her guests. Elijah's not very happy about it.
* PerpetualFrowner: Until she drops the act.
* SlasherSmile: Comes with the territory of the BloodKnight.
* TheStoic: In her outward personality.
* TheLostLenore: Seems to feel this way about Masao Mori, the 2010 group's Wild Card.
----
!!Tropes that apply exclusively to Elijah

* TheBlacksmith: Regularly crafts magically imbued guns and trinkets for Persona users, and is capable of turning Personas into weapons.
* ConspicuousConsumption: While on a date with Kyo, he buys an excessive number of model airplanes and mecha by... turning his wallet inside out and dumping a never-ending fountain of coins onto the counter.
* NiceGuy: Unlike his sister, who ranges from "stern but aloof" to "a complete battle maniac", Elijah has so far seemed to be exactly as he seems: a nice, rules-abiding guy.

!!Beaufort

A sapient robotic vacuum cleaner that was taken in by the Velvet Room following a request Elijah made for someone to bring him one. After several months of vacuuming the Velvet Room's floors, they have they have recently requested that the Persona user community construct them a body.
----
* AmbiguousGenderIdentity: They have directly stated that they're not interested in human ideas of gender, because, quote-unquote, "IT SEEMS LIKE A PAIN."
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Showing up at Shinobu's apartment, holding him at gunpoint (with a gun taped to the top of their vacuum body), dropping off a set of schematics for a new body, and then telling him to "EAT SHIT" on Bedlam when Shinobu asked for pay.
* MaybeMagicMaybeMundane: *How* exactly Beaufort gained sapience has been left up in the air. While some Persona users are convinced that Beaufort is some kind of ascended AI, Beaufort themselves has denied the accusation, and instead described themselves as something closer to Hobbes and Pooh.
* SirSwearsALot: Their dialogue is not unlike a teenager on Xbox Live. Jin has speculated that this is their way of venting now that they can.
* TalkingApplianceSidekick: Although the speech part is rather recent.
* TheSpeechless: Right up until the point that they got a wi-fi connection.

!2010 Persona User Group

A group of Persona users who awakened in the Ruins in 2010 and began to explore them. It was made up of Masao Mori, Reiko Kawagami, Aimi Hasegawa, and Rokuru Nakano. Though they managed to get fairly far through their journey, they were defeated at the final leg of it. The repercussions of their journey have shaped the experiences of Nagashima's Persona users to this day.
----
* Expy: Of the usual protagonist parties from a Persona game.
* GenderEqualEnsemble: Two guys, two girls.
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: A NewTransferStudent, a DemolitionsExpert, a Bookworm, and a DudeMagnet who enter the Ruins to try (and fail) to save the world with the superpowers they mysteriously gained.

->Arcana: 0 - The Fool
->Persona: Unknown Starter Persona, Vetala, Cybele

A transfer student who transferred into Taiyoutono at the start of 2010, only for him and his friends to be transported into the Ruins in their dreams by a blue butterfly. Of the four, Masao was the only one to awaken to the rare power of the Wild Card, and subsequently became the leader of Nagashima's first group of Persona users.

Masao eventually led his group to the bottom of the Ruins, only for them to be defeated at the final leg of his trip. He became trapped in the Ruins and recounted his experiences after being trapped in a diary, only to eventually succumb to his wounds. His diary was later found by the Persona users in the clothes worn by a Vile Larva.
----
* TheAce: Capable of summoning multiple Personas, the leader of the crew, and a ChickMagnet by all descriptions... but it couldn't keep him from losing his Personas due to screwing up his relationships.
* ChickMagnet: One of the many things that led to his group's downfall.
* DidYouJustRomanceCthulhu: It's heavily implied that he romanced Salome, as Rokuru saw him on dates with her in the past.
* Expy: Of the typical Persona protag archetype. Notable because none of the rest of his group fits particularly firmly into a single canon archetype.
* ExtracurricularEnthusiast: Noted as being in an absolutely absurd number of clubs when Makoto looks into his past.
* TheHero: Until he died.
* InSeriesNickname: He's usually referred to as the "Douchebag Wild Card", since his real name wasn't known for most of the RP. Both Rokurus generally only refer to him by pejoratives, also avoiding saying his real name out loud.
* JackOfAllTrades: Comes with being a Wild Card.
* Jerkass: Certainly comes off this way in his diary, which was written after he kicked Rokuru out of his group, cheated on both of the girls in it, and then left them for dead.
* KatanasAreJustBetter: Used katanas as his main weapon... much to the chagrin of Rokuru, who had to make them for him.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Upon leaving Reiko to be killed by a Shadow, he became trapped in the Ruins and eventually was killed down there.
* NewTransferStudent: Like most Persona protags.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: His group's failure can largely be blamed on his inability to keep it in his pants, and the repercussions of that failure facilitated the events of Rebirth and the oncoming end of the world.
* PosthumousCharacter: Died before the start of the RP, and has only appeared in-character via his diary.
* ReallyGetsAround: Was seeing at least three gals at once, which led to... obvious repercussions.
* TheLostLenore: Is this for Salome.

->Arcana: XV - The Devil
->Persona: Unknown

One of the four members of the 2010 exploration group. Little is known about her, beyond that she had an unpleasant personality and was the second to last of the group to die, having been left to the mercy of the Shadow that defeated them while Masao ran for his life.
----
* DudeMagnet: While not a lot's known about how she was when she was alive, what is known is that a lot of guys were into her, including both of the guys in her group.
* TheGhost: Unlike Masao, who appeared via his diary, Reiko hasn't appeared in-character in any capacity.
* TheLostLenore: For Rokuru, who had a crush on her during his time in the group.
* PosthumousCharacter: Died before the start of the RP, and what little is known about her comes from other people's descriptions.

[[caption-width-right:350:\
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aimi_avatar.png]]
->Arcana: VI - The Lovers
->Persona: Venus, now Ariel

One of the four members of the 2010 exploration group. She was from a large family and a member of the library council during her time in the group. She briefly dated Masao Mori, only to find out that he was cheating on her shortly before the group was defeated in the Ruins. No mention was made of how she died, and her body was never found.

She later reappeared, now as an idol calling herself "Aimicchi". She committed a series of signal hijackings and kidnappings, turning various people in the city into hosts of game shows for the entertainment of the city. It was eventually discovered that Aimicchi was a resurrected Aimi, now possessed by her own Shadow and working at the behest of the Entity to gather a form of "worship" for it. After summoning the winners of the game shows for a VIP concert (in truth, a ritual to put a crack in the wall between dreams in reality), she was broken out of the Entity's control. Now that she's free, she has rejoined the Persona user community and hopes to bring an end to the fight her team started.
----
* AmbiguouslyHuman: Aimicchi clearly has some kind of major tie with the Entity, and may or not be the resurrected corpse of Aimi Hasegawa. However, whether or not she just accepted a deal with the Entity for power, was actually resurrected, is possessed, or has outright become a Shadow is unclear. She does lack the distinctive eye color of the residents, but that only rules out that she's not outright a Shadow of the same type as them.
** Eventually averted, though it took most of her arc for this to be clarified. She's human, but she's been possessed, and she was very definitely ressurrected.
* BadassBookworm: Was a member of the library council in high school, and the art released of her from before she became Aimicchi tends to feature books. She's also very clearly the strongest Persona user in Nagashima currently, having gone toe-to-toe with several powerful enemies before her apparent death, and easily taking down the Persona users that came to fight her during her first game.
* CameBackStrong: Aimi was already a very strong Persona user before her apparent death, but since her revival, she's gained a whole slew of new abilities, to being able to sense emotions to total control over the pocket dimension she's trapped inside.
* CameBackWrong: Multiple people who knew Aimi before have noted that she's acting very different now that she's become Aimicchi. Whatever happened to her after her death/disappearance, it has changed everything about her personality and self-expression, and not necessarily for the better.
** It turns out that she's been possessed by her Shadow, which has effectively been running the games as a kind of large-scale TV World dungeon.
* CharmPerson: One of her powerset focuses, and how she has been putting on her game shows. Notably, she doesn't outright control them so much as enchant them into wanting to put on the game themselves, with the direction the game takes fully determined by the person and their mental hangups.
* ContinuityNod: When Aimicchi finally revealed that she was a Shadow, it was in true Persona 4 fashion: by declaring herself "Aimicchi, the true self!"
* ContractualPurity: Aimicchi invokes this in-universe, claiming to be a "pure and innocent virgin" because of this.
* TheGlassesGottaGo: Doesn't wear glasses as Aimicchi, even though she needed them as Aimi. It's one of several changes to her appearance that seem to have occurred just to up her sex appeal as an idol.
* IdolSinger: The newly appeared "Aimicchi" likes to go around calling herself "Nagashima's #1 Idol". How much of an idol she actually is has yet to be seen.
* LockedIntoStrangeness: When Aimi was remade as Aimicchi, her body was reshaped to meet more conventional beauty standards, much to her horror. These changes have remained even after her mind control was broken, and it has been noted that she even has difficulty gaining weight.
* MakingASplash: Her Persona primarily uses water based magic.
* NaginatasAreFeminine: The most traditionally feminine member of the original group, and the only one who uses a naginata. She explicitly brought up the weapon's past as a noblewoman's weapon when the subject of her choice came up in Shadow Vision.
* OffWithHisHead: The choker Aimicchi wears hides a scar that circles her entire neck. It's been heavily implied this is what remains of her original killing blow.
* TechnicalPacifist: Having died once herself, Aimicchi is notably not down with violence and typically enforces no violence rules for her own games... but that hasn't stopped her from pulling her Persona out on rowdy contestants.
** Likewise, during the final battle during her VIP Concert, she specifically traded out her naginata for a less lethal wooden staff... but still was more than willing to beat the snot out of the Persona users trying to stop her with it.
* TechnicolorEyes: Bright pink. This wouldn't be too notable, except that she didn't have them before becoming Aimicchi.

->Arcana: I - The Magician
->Persona: Vulcan

The only survivor of the 2010 exploration group. At the time of his awakening, Rokuru worked part-time at an auto shop, which gave him access to the materials to be the group's blacksmith alongside fighting in the Ruins. He was the target of the first Volatile Doppelganger the group met, and after it revealed all of his secrets to the group, he was kicked out of it by their leader.

After the 2010 group was defeated, Rokuru's Persona suddenly became much more active and his powers more accessible while outside of the Ruins, eventually leaving him to seek further education outside of the city. He currently attends college at a Rokujima branch in Hawaii, far from any Persona related problems, and intends to keep it that way.
----
* TheBlacksmith: Worked as this for the 2010 group. Notably grew to hate working on katanas, as they were fragile and broke often.
* DemolitionsExpert: Knew how to make thermite, and was very good at it. One of Masao's regrets after getting trapped in the Ruins was that he never learned how to make thermite from Rokuru before he kicked him out of the group.
* HormoneAddledTeenager: Shadow Rokuru has had some... less than kind things to say about Rokuru's feelings toward the people of the opposite sex in his team. Let's just leave it at that.
* TheLancer: Was this for Masao, before he was kicked out.
* NervousWreck: By the time Nagashima's current crop of Persona users makes contact with him again, he's become extremely anxious just being in the city. It takes a lot of coaxing to get him to spill the details about how things went for his team during their interview with him.
* PlayingWithFire: His Persona specializes in fire skills.
* PowerIncontinence: Suddenly developing this after his group was killed was one of his main motivators for running away from Nagashima. It's actually likely that he has the same level of access to his power as every other Nagashima user does in the city, but isn't as used to it as they are since it wasn't the norm when he got his powers.
* TheResenter: Held strong feelings of jealousy toward the rest of his group, which his Doppelganger aired to the rest of his team upon its manifestation. This was a major contributor to why he was kicked out of the group after they met his Doppelganger.
* SensorCharacter: Was this for the 2010 group, but his skills lagged behind others in it, contributing to his feelings of jealousy.
* SoleSurvivor: Of the 2010 group. It's a major source of depression and anxiety for him, and one of the motivating feelings behind his Doppelganger's one-man fight against the Ruins.

!Other Characters

->Arcana: I - The Magician
->Persona: Vulcan

Born as Rokuru Nakano's Volatile Doppelganger, ever since being left alive by the 2010 group, Shadow Rokuru has been leading a one-man war against the Shadows, the Qlippoths, and the Reaper. His personality reflects his original's guilt at being the SoleSurvivor of his group -- since Rokuru wasn't there to help when it counted, Shadow Rokuru insists on fighting back in his original's place.

After saving Senjiro Chigusa during his awakening from the Reaper and it becoming clear that Shadow Rokuru was not as hostile as most Shadows were, he was inducted into the Persona user community and has since become a regular participant in their endeavors. Regular interaction with the Persona user community has caused him to develop more of a unique personality, and he is slowly beginning to develop into a unique existence separate from his original self.
----
* AscendedDemon: Born a Volatile Doppelganger (one of the more insidious types of normal Shadows since it gives form to a person's personal Shadow), Shadow Rokuru has since chosen to ally himself with the Persona community and is slowly growing beyond the identity that formed him.
* DemolitionsExpert: Via his shared memories from his original. Overlaps with MadBomber due to his personality. Very notably tried (but failed) to assassinate the Reaper by leading it through a tunnel that was just absolutely loaded with thermite and blowing it up.
* GrewBeyondTheirProgramming: Volatile Doppelgangers are merely mirrors of their original's ego and Shadow, and should not be able to act on their own. However, the years in the Ruins and interaction with others eventually led Shadow Rokuru to start to develop his own personality, and he has been noted by the Velvet Room to be forming his own ego separate from the original Rokuru.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Regularly insults and disparages others and himself, but it's all part of his Doppelganger programming. If you can get past that, he's a pretty nice, if anxious, guy.
* PlayingWithFire: Shares a skillset with his original, so he gets access to all of the same fire skills.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Unlike most Shadows, Shadow Rokuru has red eyes. This is due to him evolving into an Unrelenting Doppelganger after not being defeated by the 2010 group.
* SanitySlippage: Spending so much time alone in the Ruins caused him to go a little... loopy. He's gotten a lot less so since he started interacting with others more regularly.
* SensorCharacter: Via his shared moveset with his original.
* YoungerThanHeLooks: Chronologically, he's only about three years old, but physically, he looks exactly like how Rokuru did in high school.

One of the discoverers of Aoi-Uchi Syndrome (better known as Hoculus). During the outbreak of 2003, she and her research partner were hired by Matsumoto Technologies to help find a cure for the disease. Much of what's known about the lab from before it became the Ruins comes from Aoi's tapes and the memos she wrote. Due to personnel shortages, she was made head physician for the Juvenile Ward, eventually putting her into direct contact with Mana Kogane and involving her in the events that led to the Eversion.
----
* ApocalypticLog: Wrote and recorded a great many of the "documents" that Persona-users have found.
* PosthumousCharacter: Died during the Eversion, but continues to be present in the narrative due to her audio journals and her connection to both Yamaguchi and Mana.

Strange, Shadow-like beings that seem to have some connection to how far the Ruins' influence can spread into Nagashima. Almost every single one seen takes the form of a humanoid, nearly-invisible distortion of space wearing a mask marked with the Roman numeral for their arcana. They can only be defeated by attacking them with a Fusion Spell -- all other attacks can slow them down or weaken them, but they will eventually regenerate.

It's since been revealed that the Qlippoths are the caretakers of the Ruins, and that their personalities are dictated by their Arcana. Every Qlippoth was once part of a being known as a "Sephirot", until the Sephirot were all defeated by the 2010 Group. When the 2010 Group failed to get rid of the Ruins, the Qlippoths were born from the remains of the Sephirot and took their places.

----
* DualBoss: Occasionally attack in pairs, most notably with the Emperor and Empress Qlippoths.
* HumanoidAbomination: Resemble humans in shape, but their bodies are more like distortions in space.
* FlunkyBoss: Several Qlippoths come with Shadow flunkies. Notably, the Empress constantly produces more Shadows during her fight, while the Emperor has the power to command all Shadows on the floor.
* MaskPower: Every single one wears a mask. Upon their defeat, the mask is left behind with the Fusion Spell used to defeat them stored within.
* MonsterOfTheWeek: Though they don't appear on a regular schedule, their fights and arcs are largely self-contained compared to the rest of the site's events.
* NoblewomansLaugh: The Empress Qlippoth was prone to doing a silent version of this (since Qlippoths can't talk).
* RuleOfSymbolism: Connects to their TarotMotifs, as seen below.
* TarotMotifs: Their movesets and behaviors are themed around their respective Arcana.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_passenger.png]]
->Arcana: I - The Magician
->Persona: Minos

Initially introduced as a being who began to share a body with Ren Taira following his swim in the Primordial Sea, the Passenger spent much of his first few months on the site borrowing Ren's body for his own mysterious aims. Despite claiming to worship the Entity and facilitating many of its schemes, the Passenger has helped the Persona-user community multiple times, claiming to loathe "narratives" where the sides are uneven.

It has since been revealed that the Passenger's true name is Minos, and that he is both "the first Qlippoth" and "the final Sephirot". Due to his intense dislike for Ren Taira, he made a deal with the Justice Qlippoth to obtain his own body and separate himself from him. Now with a human form and a Persona of his own, it remains to be seen what Minos will do now...
----
* AlternateIdentityAmnesia: Whenever the Passenger takes control, Ren's consciousness is put into a sleep-like state. The Passenger, on the other hand, seems to be aware at all times when not in control and has frequently criticized Ren for actions he takes while in control of their body. Their few conversations have been through writing, with the Passenger and Ren trading off control so they can respond to each other.
* EnigmaticMinion: While the Passenger has certainly carried itself with a degree of reverence for the Entity, it does not always act in ways that further its aims, and even helped Treo's group when they were stuck on a red herring in a time-travel based Tableau.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: Before his name was revealed to be Minos, he was often referred to as "the Passenger" OOC due to being "Ren's dark passenger".
* ExoticEyeDesigns: Similar to Aigis and Ryoji Mochizuki, Minos has an extra ring in his iris. It's the most obvious sign of his inhumanity.
* GrewBeyondTheirProgramming: Due to sharing a body with Ren Taira, parts of Taira's personality and humanity have rubbed off on Minos, making him much more human than the rest of his ilk. He seems to consider this to be something of a downside, referring to it consistently as an "infection"... not that this has stopped him from taking advantage of the various benefits of his humanity, such as summoning a Persona and being able to leave the Ruins.
* HumanityEnsues: Thanks to the Justice Qlippoth and the blueprints given to the Entity by Ren's "swim", Minos has obtained a legitimate human body, albeit one that is heavily based off of Ren Taira's. What consequences there will be from this are yet to be seen.
* ItAmusedMe: The Passenger cares less about the morality of its actions than it does for whether or not it finds the end results of those actions entertaining. This has been most shown off during Kyo's game in the Aimicchi plotline, where it disrupted large parts of the game because it considered her game too safe.
* MythicalMotifs: Shares a name with King Minos from Greek Mythology. Considering that the Ruins Residents all share motifs with other figures from the myth of the Labyrinth, this may have a deeper meaning.
* PsychoticSmirk: His default expression. Sometimes he brings it up to a CheshireCatGrin, which is universally agreed to be disturbing on Ren's face.

The supposed intelligence behind the Ruins, Hoculus, and the awakening of Persona users in Nagashima. Its existence was first theorized by researchers studying the Nagashima Anomaly, who believed that the reason they were having so much trouble was that an intelligent, possibly god-like entity was manipulating events in Nagashima. Its existence was seemingly confirmed by Salome and Elijah in their first appearance, as they pointed to something being responsible for why they were barred from Nagashima for so long. Since then, there have been several debates by the Persona user community about what the Entity's motivations could be and whether or not to try negotiating with it... and while some have been permanently changed by their attempts to communicate, others have decided to ally themselves with it.

Recent revelations have conflated the golden butterfly that grants Persona abilities with the Entity, so tropes related to the Butterfly will also go here.
----
* AGodAmI: A proposed explanation for the Entity's behavior. It certainly seems to see itself as a god, and Manabu has proposed that it may have a god complex, but whether or not it actually is a god is unknown.
* ButterflyOfTransformation: Every current Persona user in Nagashima gained their Persona by being led into the Ruins by a golden butterfly. It's been suggested that the butterfly is actually a copy of the blue butterfly that awakened the 2010 group, which is why Nagashima's current Persona users have so many problems with their powers.
* EffectiveKnockoff: A large proportion of the Entity's creations are explicit copies of existing structures or meta concepts in Persona, implying that it excels in creating these. However, the copies often have something off about them -- for example, anyone who has a Persona awakened by the Entity's butterfly has instabilities in their power, and the objects created in No Man's Land all have garbage text instead of actual labels.
* RealityWarper: If theories are to be believed, it warped the Ruins into their current state and created No Man's Land and the Inverted World.
* WindsOfDestinyChange: It's specifically noted that probability does not work as it should in Nagashima, which becomes one of the main factors in why the researchers at the lab began to believe that there was an intelligent force manipulating things.
