----
* AnimalMotifTeam: Aside from their elements, each of the Hurricangers pilots an animal-themed mech that forms Senpuujin.
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter:
** Like the Series/HyakujuuSentaiGaoranger, the Hurricangers are animal-themed protagonists. But while the membership consist five with a male blue ranger, the Hurricangers are a three-man group with a female blue ranger.
** Like the Series/ChoujuuSentaiLiveman, they are a three-man team with similar motifs whose schools were attacked by the antagonists in the first episode. But the Livemen are students at an elite academy and are joined by two members while the Hurricangers are students of a ninja school who are joined by three ninjas.
** The previous {{ninja}} {{Sentai}}, the Series/NinjaSentaiKakuranger, had their powers be spiritually-based, while the Hurricanegers' are more technology-based.
* FinishingMove: ''Super Ninja Art: Shadow Dance''
* LandSeaSky: The trio each command an element that they were taught under. Yosuke controls the sky, Nanami controls the water, and Kouta controls the earth.
* PowerTrio: There's three of them, in the vain of [[Series/TaiyouSentaiSunVulcan Sun Vulcan]] and the [[Series/ChoujuuSentaiLiveman Liveman]] ([[ThreePlusTwo at first]]).
* RedBaron: The Legendary Successors.
* ThreePlusTwo: Zig-zagged. They're joined by the Gouraigers later on, but they're their own separate team rather than part of the Hurricanegers.
* TookALevelInBadass: These three were literally the dead last of their respective classes and happened to be the only survivors out of happenstance. Through training and fighting the Jakanja they gradually become better and better fighters. Culminating in them graduating to become full-on shinobi's.
* TwoGuysAndAGirl: The Hurricangers consist of two guys (Yosuke and Kouta) and a single girl (Nanami).

[[folder:Yousuke Shiina / Hurricane Red]]
!!!Yousuke Shiina / ''Sky Ninja'', '''Hurricane Red''' | [-Actor: Shun Shioya-]

[[quoteright:180:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yosuke_pic.jpg]]
[[quoteright:180:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ezgif_5_40f55e1df3.jpg]]
The Sky Ninja and the leader of the team. Yosuke is an inexperienced ninja who can be quite dim-witted at times but makes up for it for with his bravery and tenacity to never give up. As the series continues, he begins to grow more and more competent as a shinobi and as a leader. In battle he controls the air and flies through the battlefield with his signature Sky Dash technique. His primary weapon is the Dry Gun, a hair drier that shoots beams of superheated energy at his opponents.
----
* TenMinuteRetirement: He briefly quits during Episode 5 when he gets fed up with Mugensai's cryptic instructions.
* BlowYouAway: The "Air" Ninja of the Hurricanegers.
* BrokenTears: [[spoiler:Episode 48 ends with him crying out in pain over Lady Gozen's sacrifice.]]
* CharacterDevelopment: It's subtle, but Yosuke mellows out and matures more as the season goes on as he understands the importance of duty that a shinobi must take.
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter:
** To [[Series/ChoujuuSentaiLiveman Yuusuke Amamiya]], as both are HotBlooded Idiot Heroes with similar names and bird AnimalMotif. But Yuusuke is the TheKirk while Yousuke is not.
** To [[Series/NinjaSentaiKakuranger Sasuke]], as both start off as TheSlacker before CharacterDevelopment makes them OlderAndWiser and utilize heat in their signature attacks. But Sasuke is a SupportingProtagonist while Yousuke is team leader.
* {{Determinator}}: Refuses to give up no matter the circumstance.
* FireForgedFriends: With Ikkou, his fellow red ranger.
* HeroicSacrifice: He deliberately lets Manmaruba lethally poison him with a scorpion to cure and neutralize the one in Ikkou's heart. [[spoiler:He survives but almost dies from the process.]]
* HotBlooded: He's very passionate about being a Hurricaneger, though he mellows out over the course of the series.
* IdiotHero: Downplayed as he's not that dumb when compared the to other two who are all supposed to be near-dropouts. He's the most dedicated of the main three, but he's still a bit spacey.
* KillItWithFire: His Dry Gun[[note]]It's really a [[MeaningfulName hairdryer.]][[/note]] shoots a beam of heat.
* LawOfChromaticSuperiority: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]]. For the most part, it's played straight, but Mugensai is the one who decides who the leader is and in one episode he elects Kouta, the yellow ranger, to be the new leader of the Hurricangers and Yosuke can't do anything about it. By the end of the episode, Kouta does relinquish the role back to Yosuke but it does show that Yosuke has to earn his place as the leader.
* TheLeader: of the Hurricanegers. He's hot-blooded, but he's shown to be good at rallying and motivating his teammates in the field of battle.
* OlderAndWiser: His appearence in ''Series/ShurikenSentaiNinninger'' portrays him as such, with him being much more levelheaded and teaching the new Ninja team alongside [[Series/NinjaSentaiKakuranger Sasuke]]. That being said, [[Funny/ShurikenSentaiNinninger the two are reminded of how they used to act at the end of the episode by Akaranger.]]
* WhatTheHellHero:
** He's not too happy when he sees Nanami and Kouta prioritize their new day jobs over being a Hurricanger.
** He gets pretty pissed off at the Gouraigers when he finds out that Ikkou is being slowly killed by the scorpion in his heart and refused to tell anybody.
* VoluntaryShapeshifter: ''Chō Ninpō: Maboroshi Henge''[[note]]Super Ninpou: Illusion Change[[/note]]

The Water Ninja, a very cheerful and bubbly girl who dreams of becoming an IdolSinger. Nanami is easily the most compassionate and cheerful of the Hurricangers. Don't let that fool you though, she's still a ninja who can fight just as well as her male counterparts and has a very intense side to her that you don't want to see as Furabijo found out firsthand. In battle she controls the water and is often seen outflanking her opponents with her Running on Water technique. Her primary weapon Sonic Megaphone, a megaphone that allows her to control her opponent's body by shouting commands through it.
----
* ActionGirl: Fights just as well as her two teammates.
* ActionMom: [[spoiler:As of ''Hero Mama League'', she's now a mother. She can still kick ass as a Sentai warrior though]]
* AlliterativeName: '''N'''anami '''N'''ono. This applies to both her name ''and'' the name of her actress (Nao Nagasawa).
* BabiesEverAfter: [[spoiler:The events of ''Hero Mama League'' reveals that Nanami had a son named Kairi.]]
* BreakoutCharacter: Nanami is easily the most popular character in the series and has been brought back many times in future seasons.
** As of 2023 with the new Hurricanger Anniversary specials Nanami currently ranks as the Sentai character with the most individual appearances.
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter:
** To [[Series/ChoujuuSentaiLiveman Megumi Misaki]], as both are their groups' sole female members with a dolphin AnimalMotif. But Megumi is a SmartGirl Tomboy and Nanami is a Girly GenkiGirl.
** To [[Series/NinjaSentaiKakuranger Tsuruhime]], as both are kunoichi who are the heart of their respective teams. But Tsuruhime is a Smart Girl team leader, while Nanami is a GenkiGirl.

* SweetTooth: Loves eating sweets.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: The only female Hurricaneger, as well as the only female Sentai in the entire show.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Girly Girl to Oboro's [[MrFixit Tomboy]]. (Believe it or not, this female blue sentai has no boyish traits whatsoever)
* TookALevelInBadass: Nanami actually did this before the series even began, as a flashback to their intial days of training when she'd first joined shows that while she was plucky and determined, as teenage girl she simply didn't have the strength and stamina starting out that the guys did and outright failed some of their initial physical training tests. Once of the first episodes has her, now with a years training and development under her belt retaking one of her initial tests and passing it effortlessly, showing how strong she had become.
* TranquilFury: Nanami ascends to this after being confronted with Furabiijo's betrayal in Episode 30.
* WalkOnWater: ''Chō Ninpō: Minamo Bashiri''[[note]]Super Ninpou: Water Surface Run[[/note]]
* WaterIsWomanly: She has the power of water and a dolphin motif and is an upbeat and feminine girly girl.

!!!Kouta Bitou / ''Land Ninja'', '''Hurricane Yellow''' | [-Actor: Kohei Yamamoto-]

[[quoteright:180:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kouta_pic.jpg]]
[[quoteright:180:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ezgif_5_522819f0ac.jpg]]
The Land Ninja and the team's strategist. Early on, his analytical nature causes him to overthink and hesitate too much during fights but later he learns to trust his instincts more. He's very protective of his younger sister and wants to keep her safe even without telling her his true identity. In battle he controls the land but his main skill comes from his Lion Dance technique that lets him make multiple clones of himself to control the tide of the battlefield. His primary weapon is the Quake Hammer, a hammer that can generate seismic tremors that knock opponents off their feet.
----
* BatterUp: Not to the extent of Shurikenger, but he swings his hammer very similarly to a baseball bat.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Has a younger sister and is very protective of her.
* TheBigGuy: The one who uses strength-based attacks most often.
* CharacterDevelopment: At the start of the series his cautious nature causes him to overthink too much in fights and to be overprotective of his younger sister. He eventually realizes the importance of trusting his instincts and that some things just need to be done in the moment.
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: To [[Series/ChoujuuSentaiLiveman Jou Oohara]], as both are their groups' only other name members with a lion AnimalMotif. But Joh is a Lancer and Kouta is a BigGuy.
** To [[Series/NinjaSentaiKakuranger Seikai]], as both are yellow-colored ninja that utilize earth-based techniques and function as the resident BigGuy in their teams. But Seikai is a ButtMonkey while Kouta is a GeniusBruiser.
* DishingOutDirt: The land ninja of the Hurricanegers.
* DoppelgangerAttack: ''Chō Ninpō: Mai Jishi''[[note]]Super Ninpou: Dancing Lion[[/note]]
* FriendToAllChildren: His civilian job outside of being a ninja is a physical therapist for kids and he very much enjoys it.
* GeniusBruiser: Kouta fulfills both the role of both TheSmartGuy and TheBigGuy. He's the one who often comes up with strategies for the Hurricangers and can swing his massive hammer around like a baseball bat.
* RankUp: In one episode he briefly gets promoted to be the leader of the Hurricangers. Something that pisses Yousuke off and drives a wedge between both of them.
* TheSmartGuy: Prefers to plan rather than rush into battle.
* TeamChef: The one with the best cooking skills.

The two remaining students of the Ikazuchi Ninja Academy, the rivals of Hayate Academy. They start out as villains who like the Jakanja seek "That" for their own ends before joining the heroes after seeing the errors of their ways.
----
* AntiHero: They start off as villains in their initial appearances. Even after they defect from the Jakanja it takes a while before they become comfortable working with the Hurricanegers.
* BadassBiker: They ride around in their own motorcycles and are some of the best fighters in the series.
* BreakTheHaughty: They go through a particularly nasty one when they find out what "That" requires them to do to each other and its what leads into their HeelFaceTurn.
* BrokenPedestal: Become heavily disillusioned with their father and the Ikazuchi's ways once they start seeing the errors of their ways.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Show up in the shadows in episode 1 where they witness the newly-formed Hurricaneger fight the Jakanja forces; Isshu thinks of helping them out and almost does so but Ikkou makes him stay back and watch instead.
* JapaneseBeetleBrothers: One of the strongest examples of it. The Gouraiger's entire motifs, changers, personal weapons and mecha revolve around the Kabuto/Kuwaga pair.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: They can be quite haughty and rude especially early on but they do care for the Hurricangers.
* ThePowerOfHate: They were taught this way by their father. [[DeconstructedTrope Deconstructed]] later on when they realize how pathetic of a philosphy it is and how it lead their father into a miserable life.
* ThePsychoRangers: They start off as an antagonistic rival Sentai team to the Hurricanegers. Subverted once they turn good.
* SacrificedBasicSkillForAwesomeTraining: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]] while the Gouraigers are excellent ninjas and can socialize and communicate just fine, they have trouble with solving Satarakura's very basic riddles as seen in Episode 21. Either getting it completely wrong (Ikkou) or taking too long (Isshu). Part of their growth is learning to be more comfortable to the outside world.
* ShockAndAwe: Both Gouraigers his weapons have lightning powers to contrast the Hurricanegers' wind powers.
* VillainDecay: They start out as formidable warriors well beyond both the Hurricaneger's and Jakanja's ability to stop, then the Hurricaneger start catching up to them and their ability to maneuver around the Jakanja's schemes decreases as they get reduced to {{Unwitting Pawn}}s of their schemes, mostly Chuuzubo who plays them like fiddles in an attempt to get them to fight and kill the other to awaken the Evil Will up until their redemption.

[[quoteright:180:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ezgif_2_1a00b8ee34.jpg]]
The leader and the older brother of the Gouraigers. Ikkou is the more distant of the two and prefers that the Gouraigers and Hurricanger remain separate even after they become allies but later on he realizes just how much the Hurricangers are willing to go to help them and begins opening up to Yosuke and his group. In battle he mainly uses the Illusion Horns technique to create a giant illusion of himself. His main weapon is the Horn Breaker, a laser pistol that can combine with Isshu's to form the Double Gadget.
----
* AloofAlly: Even after turning good he insists to Isshu that they ought to remain in the shadows and not directly help the Hurricangers.
* CainAndAbel: A very brief and forced example where he tries to become the Cain and kill his younger brother to fulfill his father's wishes and create "That" to appear. Isshu thankfully snaps him out of it and he immediately regrets his actions.
* CharacterDevelopment: After he and Isshu's HeelFaceTurn, Ikkou is the one more reluctant to openly working with the Hurricangers. Still believing the Ikazuchi philosophy of working from the shadows. But after Yosuke saves his life from Manmaruba he starts opening up to the idea of the two schools being unified. Later in the series he and Isshu are shown training with Hurricangers and even occasionally hanging out with them.
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: To [[Series/ChoujuuSentaiLiveman Junichi Aikawa]], as both have a one-horned AnimalMotif. But Junichi is a younger brother with a rhinoceros-theme while Ikkou is an older brother with a rhinoceros beetle motif.
* FireForgedFriends: To the Hurricangers and Yosuke in particular.
* ItsPersonal: His reasoning for taking on Manmaruba by himself.
* TheLancer: After he and Isshu join the Hurricanegers, Ikkou becomes this to Yousuke.
* SecretlyDying: [[spoiler: Manmaruba laid a scorpion egg that is slowly killing him but Ikkou refuses to tell anyone about this, not even to his own brother.]]
* ShipperOnDeck: PlayedForLaughs when Isshu was mind controlled into being in love with Nanami. He overhears Isshu's confession to the other Hurricangers and silently declares his support for his younger brother but it was all revealed to be the work of a Jakanja manipulating Isshu's heart. Even after, he still enjoys teasing Isshu about his supposed crush on her.
* {{Sizeshifter}}: ''Chō Ninpō: Maboroshi Kabuto''[[note]]Super Ninpou: Illusion Kabuto[[/note]]
* TheStoic: Very no-nonsense and aloof when compared to his brother [[spoiler:even when he's SecretlyDying]]
* YourDaysAreNumbered: [[spoiler:Gets a space scorpion (and its egg) planted near his heart by Manmaruba.]]

[[quoteright:180:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ezgif_2_4fe9321774.jpg]]
The younger brother of the Gouraiger. While he's more headstrong and immature than his older brother, Isshu is much more willing to work with the Hurricangers and is the first to be the one that joins him. He has a crush on Nanami that originally started as mind control but eventually grew organically thanks to her kind words to him. In battle he uses his Fang Lightning technique to generate lighting from his helmet and flail his enemies around and send them flying. His main weapon is the Stag Breaker, a handheld claw modelled after a Stag Beetle's mandible, it can be used to grab an opponent and electrocute them as well as being able to combine with his Ikazuchimaru staff to create a makeshift spear.
----
* TheBigGuy: In contrast to his older brother. Both are roughly equal in strength, but Isshu is more immature and more prone to aggressive, physical attacks than Ikkou.
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: To [[Series/ChoujuuSentaiLiveman Tetsuya Yano]], both their respective duo's BigGuy with a two-horned AnimalMotif. But Tetsuya is acts like a big brother to Junichi and has a bison-theme while Isshu is Ikkou's younger brother and has a stag beetle motif.
* TheHeart: Much more compassionate than his older brother, and eventually the reason both turn good.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Stag Breaker
** Ikazuchi Breaker ([[BifurcatedWeapon Stag Breaker + Ikazuchimaru]])

* WellDoneSonGuy: He has trouble reconciling the truth about his father and briefly starts using his father's own weapon to show independence from the Hurricangers but realizes the dangerous modifications his father made to it and destroys it.

A clan of space ninjas who come to Earth seeking to harness a mysterious force known as "It".
----
* AliensAreBastards: They happily engage in murderous and destructive acts towards humanity and plan on awakening an evil power sealed in the Earth.
* AnimalMotifs: Each of their executives is themed after an animal. Tau Zant is [[CreepyCentipedes centipedes]], Furabiijo is [[BeeAfraid bees]], Chuuzubo is [[FrogNinja frogs]], Manmaruba is [[ScaryScorpion scorpions]], Wendinu is [[SnakesAreSinister snakes]], Sargain is [[AntAssault ants]], Satarakura is [[AgentPeacock peacocks]] and Sandaaru is [[ThreateningShark sharks]].
* BewareTheSillyOnes: They may be filled with flashy members that are prone to comedic moments, but they're definitely one of the most destructive villain factions in the ''Sentai'' franchise, wiping out Hurricanegers' ninja academy upon their arrival, and in the finale [[spoiler:they come frighteningly close to executing an InTheirOwnImage plan that involved [[OmnicidalManiac destroying the entire multiverse]].]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: An ominous choir sings whenever they appear.
* McNinja: {{Space|X}} Ninjas, in fact.
* NebulousEvilOrganisation: They're a group of evil ninjas with very nebulous goals that involve spreading evil across the planet. They're nebulous to the point where their objective is only referred to as "it" until the finale.
* {{Ninja}}: Sorted into ''jonin'' (Tau Zant and the Seven Dark Spears), ''chunin'' (the [[MonsterOfTheWeek Ninja Corps]]) and ''genin'' (the {{mooks}}).
* SigilSpam: The Jakanja sigil is plastered on just about anything affiliated with the organization, including the {{Mooks}}' faces and the mundane objects some of their ninja monsters use.
* SupervillainLair: Parasite Fortress Centipede, Jakanja's castle-like spaceship.

A Space Ninja with high authority and leader of the Jakanja. Having heard thousands of years ago the voice of "It", a nebulous evil force, he sought out that dark power and searched the Universe for warriors that could further this goal, eventually founding the Seven Dark Spears who ravaged and plundered planet after planet in their conquests. In the modern day he orders an all-out attack on Earth's ninja schools after one of his probes left on the planet sends a signal to his ship, thus becoming the Hurricaneger's main foe.
----
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: Grows giant to unleash the Evil Will in the finale. [[spoiler:He is then killed right off by Sandaaru and his giant form is briefly manifested by the Evil Will to fight the Hurricaneger before it gets defeated.]]
* AttackItsWeakPoint: [[spoiler:Has a weakspot between his eyes in his giant form, which allows Sandaaru to kill him in one blow after he awakens the Evil Will, and later allows the Hurricaneger to defeat the Evil Will's giant Tau Zant form by having Senpuujin strike the spot with its sword.]]
* BigBad: The leader of the Jakanja and the one menacing the Hurricanegers who plots to awaken "That" and absorb its power to conquer the Universe and remake it in his image.
* BigBadWannabe: [[spoiler:That being said, he doesn't do much throughout the series other than taking the artifacts collected by his servants and never once poses a threat to the Hurricaneger himself, as when he finally gets up from his throne and awakens the Evil Will he winds up quickly killed by Sandaaru before he could even finish his plan while helplessly screaming his treacherous former [[TheDragon Dragon]]'s name, but also gets reduced to a mere puppet for the actual BigBad, The Evil Will itself which was implicitly manipulating him from the start so Tau Zant would awaken it.]]
* CreepyCentipedes: He has a centipede {{motif}} and resembles a humanoid one in both of his forms, and he's a loathsome, cruel ninja criminal who wants to conquer the Universe at all costs.
* EvilSoundsDeep: Speaks with a deep voice courtesy of Creator/KiyoyukiYanada.
* InTheirOwnImage: His ultimate goal is [[spoiler:to use the Evil Will to remake the universe into one with him as ruler.]]
* ItsAllAboutMe: Cares nothing for his subordinates and shows no concern when they get killed once he believes they have served their purpose, even his favored servants are only favored because he views their abilities and knowledge as useful, rather than him having any legitimate emotional attachment or care for them. [[spoiler: This bites him in the ass when Saandaru decides to turn on him and kill him as soon as he unleashes the Evil Will, with Wendinu and Furabijo not even trying to avenge him and instead becoming Sandaaru's CoDragons right after]].
* MakeMyMonsterGrow: He grows giant as the final step of his plan to invoke "it". Ironically, [[spoiler:when he's brought back again for the final FinalBattle, he's regular-sized.]]
* OneWingedAngel: Assumes his "Ultimate Form" so he can wield the Grieving Bow and Raging Arrow properly.
* OrcusOnHisThrone: Spends 99% of his time sitting around in his base, doing absolutely nothing but barking orders to his minions, berating them and punishing them when mad. [[spoiler:The moment he does get his ass off his throne and enacts his EvilPlan, he is unceremoniously offed by Sandaaru seconds later; it takes the Evil Will possessing Tau Zant's body for him to finally be fighting the Hurricanegers.]]
* PunnyName: His name is a pun on "thousand", a reference to the many legs a centipede has.
* TheUnfought: [[spoiler:Subverted example. He was killed by Sandaaru shortly after his transformation, but later the Evil Will uses his body to fight the Hurricanegers as their FinalBoss.]]
* VileVillainLaughableLackey: While most of Tau Zant's minions are [[LaughablyEvil prone to comedic moments]], Tau Zant stays serious throughout and takes the eccentricities of the Dark Spears in stride.
* WolverineClaws: In his true form he has long sharp claws, which prove sharp enough to pierce right through Senpuujin's armor like butter.

!!The Seven Dark Spears
[[folder:In general]]
The high-ranked ninja commanders of Jakanja, serving directly under Tau Zant.
----
* ArtifactTitle: They're called the "Seven Dark Spears" even after they lose two of their members. [[spoiler:The only time all seven members are together is when they're all brought back by the Evil Will in the finale.]]
* BackForTheFinale: [[spoiler:All of them are brought back by the Evil Will in the final episode to fight the Hurricanegers one last time. It's particularly notable with Chuuzubo, who perished just 19 episodes in, and Manmaruba, who died about a third short of the finale.]]
* DayOfTheWeekName: All of their names are derived from a different day of the week[[note]]Furabiijo = Friday, Chuuzubo = Tuesday, Manmaruba = Monday, Wendinu = Wednesday, Sargain = Thursday, Satarakura = Saturday, Sandaaru = Sunday[[/note]].
* MookCarryover: Furabiijo and Wendinu go on to serve a number of masters after [[spoiler:Tau Zant is killed. First it's Sandaaru, then the Evil Will, then the [[Series/BakuryuuSentaiAbaranger Evolians]], then Evil Ninja Iga, and finally Bat Zhe Rumba.]]
* MookLieutenant: Chuuzubo, Sargain, Satarakura and Sandaaru each head their own MonsterOfTheWeek divisions.
* RuleOfSeven: There's seven of them in total.
* SortingAlgorithmOfEvil: The Seven Dark Spears are organized numerically by their strength with the First Spear, Furabijo, being considered the weakest; with the Seventh Spear Sandaaru being considered the strongest and deadliest of them all. This is implied in the ''Hurricaneger vs. Gaoranger'' team up film where their Ranger colors (which they got from stealing the latter team's powers) are based on their numerical titles and power levels. The members killed are also offed based on their strength, with [[spoiler:the first to be killed being Chuzubo who's quickly killed by the newly formed Gourai Senpuujin, followed by Manmaruba getting obliterated by Karakuri Giant Tenrai Senpuujin and Sargain getting almost killed off by the Hurricanegers before he's finished off by Sandaaru, Satarakura is finished off by Shurikenger performing a sacrificial attack and Sandaaru himself is barely killed by a suicide attack of the Gouraigers, though the latter survive.]]

The First Spear of Jakanja, a cute, attractive but still deadly kunoichi who serves as the Jakanja Spears' judge, rating how well their schemes are pulled off. She is best friends with Wendinu and arch-enemies with Nanami/[=HurricaneBlue=].
----
* ArchEnemy: To Nanami/[=HurricaneBlue=], who she enjoys singling out in every fight to deal with.
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: In addition to being the First Spear, and therefore the weakest, she is the youngest member of the group and is often deemed as such by her teammates. Notably while Wendinu's defining trait is her seductiveness, Furabijo's defining trait is her cuteness, even if she's rather cruel beneath it.
* BeeAfraid: The weakest of the seven ninja generals with a bee motif.
* BumblingHenchmenDuo: With Wendinu. Neither is totally incompetent, but they supply most of the comedy on the Jakanja's side of things.
* CoDragons: [[spoiler:She and Wendinu briefly become this to Saandaru once the latter kills Tau Zant.]]
* CuteAndPsycho: Her appearance and mannerisms are all cute, but her goals and intentions are not.
* DullSurprise: She has a deadpan and apathetic delivery to many things around her, even if it's Tauzant flying into a rage and firing attacks at her.
* GoneHorriblyRight: Momentarily in episode 30. Due to Furabijenu, a robot she made herself, being 300% better than her, other Jakanja's Spears decided to kick her out.
* HumanAliens: Looks human, but is actually an alien ninja.
* IdolSinger: Has a brief stint alongside Nanami as a singing duo.
* LightFeminineAndDarkFeminine: Light to Wendinu's Dark.
* PerkyFemaleMinion: Cheerful, airheaded and quick to swoon over whatever new thing has gotten her attention, particularly if it's a new Dark Spear or Jakanja ally.
* PsychopathicManchild: Acts like a young girl and is prone to throwing tantrums, yet isn't any less evil than her fellow Spears.
* RobotMe: Furabijenu, the MOTW from episode 30 is a robot she made in her likeness, down to her [[CuteAndPsycho childish sadism]].
* SpoiledBrat: Has the demeanor of a playful, petulant child.

----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Apart from Furabiijo and Wendinu, he's the most human-looking of the Seven Dark Spears, but he has green skin.
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: [[spoiler:Uses a special spell scroll on himself to achieve this like what he did to his monsters.]]
* TheBrute: Not the strongest of the Seven Dark Spears, but still a serious and battle-hungry fighter who uses a lot of strength-based attacks.
* ClimaxBoss: He's the first foe the Hurricanegers and Gouraigers need to work together to defeat.
* TheDeterminator: Absolutely refused to give up against the Hurricanegers in his last battle with them.
* FrogNinja: The second of the seven ninja generals with a frog motif.
* GeniusBruiser: He's TheBrute primarily, but he can be quite devious on occasion, as seen with his plan to [[spoiler:get the Gouraigers to fight each other.]]
* UndyingLoyalty: To the Jakanja and Tau Zant, his last words are practically praising the Jakanja as he dies.
* VillainousValour: Never stops trying his hardest, even when he's in a losing battle.

* BodyBackupDrive: [[spoiler:Before being killed by Kabuto Raiger, he prepared a clone of himself with all of his memories intact.]]
* EvilGenius: His future-seeing powers are a great asset to the Jakanja and makes him one of Tau Zant's most valuable minions. He's also shown to be TheStrategist and skilled at making long-term plans.
* InTheHood: Wears a dark brown hood in his adult form.
* ItsPersonal: Dedicates himself to tormenting Gouraigers after those two defected from Jakanja.
* KarmicDeath: [[spoiler:Dies at the hands of Kabuto Raiger, whose life he tried to ruin several times over.]]

The Fourth Spear of Jakanja , a seductive yet deadly kunoichi who employs a combination of subterfuge, cunning and even strength to achieve her goals, is best friends with Furabijo.
----
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: When pissed off enough, she will turn into a giant by herself, she's actually powerful enough to easily defeat both the Hurricanegers and the Gouraigers like this and only lost because she returned to normal size due to outside interference.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: She might be vain and prone to comedic moments, but that doesn't stops her from being a massive threat, ranking only behind Sandaaru, Satarakura and Sargain in terms of deadliness. Notably her one true battle in giant form has her curbstomp both Hurricanegers and Goruaigers before returning to normal due to outside factors. She also proves dangerous and skilled enough alongside Furabijo to consistently avoid death and help bigger evils return to this world, such as Bat Ze Rumba.
* BumblingHenchmenDuo: With Furabiijo. She's more competent than her, but still prone to having humorous moments.
* CoolSword: Her sword can be used in melee and ranged combat, as well as cause shockwaves and attack foes with complex orders.
* CoDragons: [[spoiler:She and Furabijo briefly become this to Sandaaru after he kills Tau Zant.]]
* DarkActionGirl: She's ranked just under Sargain for good reason. When she gets sufficiently angry, she's able to overwhelm both Senpuujin and Gouraijin ''at once''.
* DragonAscendant: Briefly took control of the Jakanja's remains until Bat Ze Rhumba was awakened. [[spoiler:After Rhumba's death she goes back to this position.]]
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: {{Downplayed}}, she appeared to genuinely care about both Sargain and Satarakura, when both die she gets notably mad at Sandaaru who she suspects rightfully to be the cause of the former's death. [[spoiler:Though even her hatred for her teammates' death isn't stopping her from joining up with Sandaaru once he disposes of Tau Zant.]] She's also good friends with Furabiijo.
* HumanAliens: Like Furabiijo she's an alien who appears human.
* LightFeminineAndDarkFeminine: Dark to Furabijo's Light.
* MsFanservice: Episode 34 has her dressed up in various outfits and she also acts ''very'' seductively toward either the main characters or other background/one-shot characters.
* SmarterThanYouLook: May look as ditzy and clueless as Furabijo, but [[spoiler: she was the only Jakanja to have suspicions about Saandaru's true intentions and the death of Sargain]]
* SnakesAreSinister: Has a snake motif and is a malicious woman with desires to destroy Earth and beyond.
* SoleSurvivor: [[spoiler:She and Furabiijo end up being the only surviving members of the Seven Dark Spears. She truly becomes the ''sole'' survivor after Furabiijo is killed in the events of ''Film/GoGoSentaiBoukengerVsSuperSentai'', but is joined by her again after she comes back to life.]]

* TheDragon: To Tau Zant, being the most loyal of his commanders and the highest-ranked Dark Spear at the beginning. He gets replaced by Satarakura and Sandaaru once they show up. He does gets props for being Tau Zant's most ''loyal'' subordinate.
* EvilGenius: A secondary one to Manmaruba. His Puppet Ninja Corps are comprised of robots he constructed himself. He's also the one who handles the Jakanja's other technology, including the Karakuri System used for their [[HumongousMecha Karakuri Giants]].
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: [[spoiler:Dies getting cut in half by Sandaaru.]]
* InterserviceRivalry: He and his Puppet Ninja Corps had this with Chuuzubo and his Alien Ninja Corps, competing with them to take out the Hurricanegers and often exchanging taunts. He later forms rivalries with Satarakura and Sandaaru after each shows up.
* MobileSuitHuman: He's actually a small ant alien piloting a karakuri robot. It gets even more redundant when he's piloting a giant robot, using his regular-sized robot suit.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: His suit is black with red highlights, as well as [[GoldColoredSuperiority gold ones]].
* UndyingLoyalty: To Tau Zant, the most out of any of his followers, when Sandaaru supplants him as the main lieutenant of Tau Zant he begins to break down and lose his mostly composed nature due to his demotion.

A silly yet dangerous ninja, and the Sixth Spear, who arrives to replace Chuuzubo. He is a quick thinking and acting schemer who employs outlandish yet mortal plans to further the Jakanja's goals.
----
* AgentPeacock: This effeminate ninja is not only peacock-themed, but also very powerful in his own right.
* AmbiguouslyGay: He once said he would like to be Saandaru's boyfriend and shows a massive devotion to his fellow Spear. Whether this is genuine or just because of his {{Cloudcuckoolander}} tendencies isn't ever delved into.
* AnnoyingLaugh: DAAAAAAAA-HA-HA-HA-HA!
* BewareTheSillyOnes: He is a clownish and hammy villain, but he's also amongst the most powerful members of the Jakanja, behind only Saandaru and Tau Zant, and is every bit as cruel as his commrades and allies. In his final episode [[spoiler: he indirectly causes the death of Shurikenger]].
* TheDragon: Takes this spot from Sargain after he shows up, as the strongest and highest-ranked of the Dark Spears, up until Sandaaru arrives.

* LaughablyEvil: A genuinely evil yet extremely entertaining and funny villain fond of puns and a sharp contrast to the dead-serious Sandaaru.
* MonsterClown: Looks like an Owarai entertainer.
* PungeonMaster: A lot of his dialogue has puns inserted all over it.
* SanitySlippage: As a result of [[spoiler:being backstabbed by Sandaaru and having his mask broken, he goes from "funny villain" to "rampaging mindless monster" almost immediately declaring his hatred of everyone, Hurricaneger and Jakanja included]].
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: The comedic sensitive guy to Sandaaru's incredibly serious manly man.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Toei officially renders it as "Sa'''ta'''rakura", but many people go with "Sa'''to'''rakura" because it sounds just like that.
* TheStarscream: Tau Zant using him as a pawn to absorb energy with the Jakyumu Gun gets Satarakura to turn against him, [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness though it doesn't do him much good]].
* VillainousFriendship: A one-sided example with Sandaaru, as the latter doesn't cares one bit about him yet Satarakura is blindly devoted to him and thinks they're the best of friends, regardless. This goes away in the finale once Sandaaru breaks Satarakura's mask, as Satarakura declares his hatred of not just the heroes but the Jakanja as well for Sandaaru's actions. The one thing they do share in common, however, is that they're both by far the most disloyal of Tau Zant's generals.

Though initially seemingly loyal to Tau Zant, he soon begins to plot against his leader and teammates.
----
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Proves himself as this to Sargain and the other Spears and he's all too happy to subtly rub it in the former's face, in their first match he lets Sargain thinks he's overwhelmed and cornered him with his swords... But then shows he let him get close to prepare a deadly strike in his midsection which Sargain only realizes after Tau Zant forces them both to stop. Then he shows him up when fighting the Hurricanegers and later on starts getting so close to actually achieving the Jakanja's goals that Sargain desperately tries to gain Tau Zant's full favor by trying to speed up the process to catch up to Sandaaru, only to end up out-gambitted badly.
* ArchEnemy: Becomes this to the Hurricanegers, Gouraigers and Shurikenger after he [[spoiler:kills Kagura.]]
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: The most powerful ''and'' TheLeader of the Seven Dark Spears, his power is unmatched by any of his peers, he can fight all 6 heroes at once without breaking a sweat and his Ninja Corps are easily the deadliest, most powerful monsters of the Jakanja many surpassing other Spears in power. [[spoiler:He also shows the initiative to successfully dispose of Tau Zant once the Evil Will is freed and take control of the Jakanja up until the Gouraigers kill him.]]
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: Turns giant to fight the Hurricaneger in the penultimate episode overwhelming all their available mecha, he gets to summon his LandShark head illusionary strike to obliterate Revolver Mammoth as well when the Hurricaneger try to use it.
* BadGuysDoTheDirtyWork: Out of all the characters he's the most direct killer of the major villains, as he personally disposes of Sargain, sets up Satarakura's death and finally [[spoiler:kills Tau Zant]] when the latter awakens the Evil Will. In comparison, the heroes only killed Chuzubo and Manmaruba in a straight fight, the rest were all taken out in a HeroicSacrifice.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: [[spoiler:Manages to successfully backstab his 50-foot tall OneWingedAngel boss in the penultimate episode.]]
* TheDragon: Takes this spot from Satarakura after he shows up, being the leader of the Seven Dark Spears. He actually was this to the Dark Spears from the get-go, but was off-world for most of the series.
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: Both Furabijo and Satarakura are smitten with him.
* EyepatchOfPower: Wears a mechanical eyepatch over his left eye, with its own mechanical eye.
* FauxAffablyEvil: At first he acts like he's a team-player who cares about his fellow Spears and even saves Furabijo, Wendinu, Sargain and Satarakura from being finished off by the Victory Gadget in his debut episode, later episodes show that is a facade and besides keeping his teammates alive out of personal gain he cares nothing for them and will even dispose of them personally if he feels they have no use in his plans alive anymore.
* TheHeavy: He pretty much does the heavy-lifting of finding the key pieces for the awakening of "That" accomplishing what his teammates and boss couldn't come close to doing before, notably by the end of his tenure he's all but overthrown Tau Zant as the BigBad [[spoiler:by disposing of him, the only reason he doesn't gets to become the FinalBoss is because the Gouraigers sacrifice Gouraijin to take him out just barely.]]

* {{Hypocrite}}: He explains his reasoning for [[spoiler:killing Tau Zant being that the latter only sees his troops as disposable pawns, when Sandaaru himself is happy to dispose of others if it serves his goals.]]
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: [[spoiler:By Gouraijin in their final battle.]]
* ItsAllAboutMe: He only cares about himself and his desires to conquer the universe, everyone else, allies or enemies be damned. He manipulates his fellow Spears and fools his own boss, Tau Zant, into thinking he's working alongside them while secretly plotting to dispose of all of them once he has no use for them in his plans. In the finale, the only reason he doesn't [[spoiler:disposes of Wendinu and Furabijo in the finale after killing Tau Zant is because of both willingly turning into his CoDragons after the fact.]]
* ItsPersonalWithTheDragon: Needless to say, things get very personal with him after he [[spoiler:extracts the Grieving Bow from Kagura and kills her.]]
* KnightOfCerebus: His arrival marks a more serious turn to the series, with the battles getting more difficult for the heroes. Noticeably, after he arrives, [[spoiler:both Shurikenjer and Lady Gozen kick the bucket when his true plans begin setting in motion]].
* NearVillainVictory: He comes very close to winning. [[spoiler:If the Gouraigers hadn't sacrificed Gouraijin at the last minute, it's safe to say Sandaaru would have become lord of a new universe.]]
* NoNonsenseNemesis: Unlike most of his fellow Spears, he does not take his time with his plans and instead makes sure to put them in motion as soon as he gets the chance. This makes him the deadliest member of his group, as the most competent and ruthless at dealing with the Hurricaneger. He notably makes it so that the Jakanja forego their tradition of attacking one at a time in favor of various Spears attacking all at once, which proves effective enough to put the Hurricanegers in serious trouble multiple times over.
* PragmaticVillainy: He's a ruthless ninja assassin, but he won't KickTheDog if it's not needed. In one particularly notable instance, [[spoiler:he chooses not to kill Furabiijo and Wendinu after he's backstabbed Tau Zant and instead accepts their offer to be his CoDragons.]]
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: The cunning manly man to Satarakura's clownish sensitive guy.
* ShortLivedLeadership: [[spoiler:He gained control of the remaining Jakanja members... For about some 10-20 minutes before he is killed in a sacrificial attack by the Gouraigers.]]
* TheStarscream: Plots to seize leadership of the Jakanja. [[spoiler: He succeeds, very shortly before his death]]
* ThreateningShark: He has a shark motif, and is the most vile and powerful of the Seven Spears. He can even command a giant LandShark mech powerful enough to match Revolver Mammoth (the Hurricaneger's most powerful mech).
* VileVillainLaughableLackey: He's the leader of the Seven Dark Spears and unlike the rest of them, he lacks any comedic moments and is far and away the most serious and dangerous of them.
* VillainousFriendship: One-sided example with Satarakura, on the latter's end. He doesn't really cares for him beyond a pawn in his plans but Satarakura is fully convinced that they're the best of friends.
* XanatosSpeedChess: He had a very small window of time to put in motion his plan to [[spoiler:backstab Tau Zant and hijack "It"]]. He succeeds on all fronts.

!!Mid-Rank and Low-Rank Ninjas
[[folder:Jakanja Ninja Corps]]
The MonsterOfTheWeek, four separate armies of mid-rank ninjas each led by a different member of the Seven Dark Spears.
----
* MakeMyMonsterGrow: Each Corps has their own enlargement techique. The Alien Ninja Corps uses enlargement scrolls, the Puppet Ninja Corps are absorbed into Copy Giants, the Masked Ninja Corps are grown giant using special masks and the Fan Ninja Beast Corps start out giant.
* MonsterOfTheWeek: Most episodes see the Hurricanegers having to fight one.
* {{Robeast}}: Several of them fuse mechanical and organic motifs, resulting in this when they're grown giant.

!!Alien Ninja Corps
Chuuzubo's Ninja Corps, comprised of ninjas with motifs that combine animals and plants with Japanese culture.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Most have an animal or insect motif of some kind.

!!Puppet Ninja Corps
Sargain's Ninja Corps, comprised of karakuri robots he built himself.
----
* {{Expy}}: The Copy Robots used to enlarge Puppet Ninjas use the same technique as the Gorlins from ''Series/ChikyuuSentaiFiveman''.
* KillerRobot: Killer ''{{Ninja|PirateZombieRobot}}'' Robots.

!!Masked Ninja Corps
Satarakura's Ninja Corps, comprised of body-part themed ninjas.
----
* BodyMotifs: Each is themed after a different body part.
* CoolMask: The Dekkamen, a DominoMask used to enlarge the Masked Ninjas.

!!Fan Ninja Beast Corps
Sandaaru's Ninja Corps.
----
* AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever: Unlike the other Ninja Corps, Fan Ninja Beasts start out giant.
* EliteArmy: They're the strongest ninjas in the Jakanja.

The ''genin'' grunts of the Jakanja.
----
* FacelessGoons: Have the sigil of the Jakanja in place of a proper face.
* {{Mooks}}: The Jakanja grunt fighting force.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: Their bodies are mostly black, with red highlights and the Jakanja logo emblazoned in red on their faces.
* SamuraiPonytail: Their hair is pulled back and bound behind their heads, in a manner reminiscent of a samurai haircut.
* TheWormThatWalks: Their bodies are stitched together and filled with insects.

The brother of Chuuzubo, who comes to Earth seeking revenge for him.
----
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: He really oversells himself despite not being anywhere near the strongest of the Jakanja.
* AvengingTheVillain: His main motivation aside from becoming the new Second Spear is to avenge his brother, Chuuzubo.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: A lot sillier than his brother, but still managed to successfully capture the Gaoranger team, steal their powers and enable the Jakanja to use them against the Hurricanegers and Gouraigers with his scheming.
* BigBad: He's the one who stole the Gaorangers' powers and gave them to the Jakanja, making him the main antagonist of ''Film/NinpuuSentaiHurricanegerVsGaoranger''.
* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: To his brother, Chuuzubo, who he briefly succeeds. Chuuzubo was no-nonsense, serious and had genuine VillainousValor; Chubouzu is prone to undisciplined behavior, acts silly, and cowers a lot when cornered or when he loses his unfair advantages.
* RememberTheNewGuy: Never is his existence acknowledged throughout the series, nor is even stated that Chuzuubo had family members to begin with.

* MeaninglessMeaningfulWords: professes to being both a Jakanja and not a Jakanja at the same time.
* PostFinalBoss: To ''Hurricaneger'' as a whole. The Jakanja and Evil Will are long gone, but there's still this guy to deal with after Furabijo and Wendinu free him.

The true main antagonist of the series, a SentientCosmicForce which the Jakanja seek to invoke in order to recreate the universe.
----
* TheAntiGod: It's something similar to this, being an entire anti-''universe'' to our own.
* DemonicPossession: Revived and took control of Tau Zant and Seven Dark Spears bodies in order to use them to fight the Hurricanegers.
* EldritchAbomination: It's incredibly vague as to what the Evil Will is, though based on the Hurricaneger's encounter with it it appears to an entire ''[[GeniusLoci living]]'' alternative universe.
* {{Expy}}: Of [[Series/DenjiSentaiMegaranger Evil Electro-King Javious I]], being the GreaterScopeVillain that takes the form of an evil sentient dimension. Unlike Javious, however, he's not betrayed by Tau Zant, and becomes the FinalBoss of the series.
* FinalBoss: After being released, it becomes the last foe the Hurricanegers face. While he uses apparitions of Tau Zant and the Spears' bodies against the Hurricaneger, the Evil Will is the one that they actually fight.
* GreaterScopeVillain: It doesn't even directly appear until the final episode, but it was implicitly manipulating Tau Zant and the Jakanja from the start to unleash it into the universe and take it over. The meteor showers that appear throughout were really messages sent by it carrying instructions on how to invoke it and let it in. Once released it possesses Tau Zant's dead body and becomes the FinalBoss.
* SentientCosmicForce: An abstract embodiment of the negative energy, with a vague degree of sentience that nonetheless is able to influence and corrupt others to carry out its will.
* UnseenEvil: As an abstract SentientCosmicForce, the Evil Will doesn't actually have a form of its own apart from a floating black face, hence why it needs to possess others in order to fight.
* WalkingSpoiler: It is the vague "it" mentioned by the Jakanja as their goal.
