!!'''Spider'''
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/spider_234.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/NobutoshiCanna (JP), Jonathan Love (EN)

The first character that joins X is Spider, a BountyHunter with a gambling motif who at first is looking to collect on X's head. After seeing Aile's ID, [[HeelFaceTurn he joins X]] due to Aile being a former partner of his.
----
* AmbiguousSituation: TheReveal of him being Redips in disguise leaves the question: Was there a real bounty hunter named Spider (and did X meet him?), or was it just Redips all along?
* BountyHunter: He is introduced coming after X for the bounty the Rebellion put on his head.
* TheCynic: Is a great deal more realistic than X, even pointing out his frustration that Chief R gets to sit at base while they go risk their lives in battle.
* DeathDealer: Uses cards loaded through the equivalent of internal [[Anime/YuGiOh duel disks]], each with varying levels of potency. Has the slick and smooth personality to match, and his [[SuperMode Hyper Mode]] is called ''Trickstar''.
* {{Expy}}: Is one ultimately for [[VideoGame/MegaManX4 Double]], with both sharing many similarities. Seemingly a friend? Check. Hides his true form? Check. Is TheMole? Check. Is he a major villain in reality? Check. Has a MeaningfulName? Check.
* FlechetteStorm: His low level Action Trigger attack, such as a Two Pair or Tri Card, fires a barrage of cards that slice through the target instead of exploding.
* TheGambler: Come on. His Action Trigger is ''literally'' a hand of TabletopGame/{{poker}}.
* HeelFaceTurn: Has his after seeing Aile's ID since it turns out they're old friends. Then ''he'' turns out to be PlayingBothSides all along.
* HeroicSacrifice: Subverted. When the party is trapped by Incentas, Spider sacrifices himself to allow them to escape, but turns out he [[FakingTheDead faked his death]].
* TheLancer: Replaces Zero in this regard, since they're not on the same team for very long.
* MeaningfulName: There's a playing card game called "'''Spider''' Solitaire".
** It's also [[BigBad "Redips"]] [[TheMole spelled]] [[SdrawkcabName backwards]].
* TheMole: He's actually Redips manipulating both sides to take ultimate power via the Supra-Force Metal.
* NominalHero: While he does decide to fight for justice, his bounty hunter side still shines through. He implies to X's face that he still has his own goals, plans on stealing from Professor Gaudile, and continues into Gimialla Mine with the party just so he can hear about Supra-Force Metal. Then of course, there's the twist...
* OnlyAFleshWound: Gets a nasty shot in the arm courtesy of Shadow and is shown limping afterwards, but it doesn't affect him gameplay-wise.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Starts out this way with the Rebellion; later he joins the Resistance out of a ''supposed'' desire to do what's right.
* OutOfFocus: Subverted. Unlike his fellow series-newcomer party members, Spider stays quite relevant in cutscenes and story beats right up until his supposed death. Then his character lives on via Redips.
* SmugSnake: Although slightly less when he joins the team.
* StreetSmart: Is more familiar with Giga City and its residents, such as Massimo, than X is. There's even a few random passerby who know him.
* TakingTheBullet: Intercepts a shot from Shadow's cannon which was aimed at Zero, which convinces Zero to forgo his misgivings about the Resistance and join the party.
* TakingYouWithMe: Does this to Incentas to ensure the escape of the other Hunters. Only Incentas dies in the blast while opening the escape route for the party. This is another hint that it is really Redips in disguise.
* TallDarkAndSnarky: The second-tallest party member behind Massimo, wears dark armor, and has a sarcastic edge to him.
* TookALevelInKindness: Learns to fight for what's right instead of for what pays... or does he?
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Massimo]]
!!'''Steel Massimo'''
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/massimo_585.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Yasuhiko Kawazu (JP), Noah Umholtz (EN)

Steel Massimo is the name of two characters: a hero who refused to join the Rebellion and so was captured and tortured, and a player character who took up the real Massimo's armor and name. This second Massimo joins X and Spider when they infiltrate Tianna Camp in order to rescue Nana. What he lacks in courage he makes up for in determination.
----
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Seems to have a crush on Marino. She doesn't rebuke him, but is simply unaware of his feelings.
* AnimalMotifs: Despite being a human-type Reploid, the original Massimo was a dragon-type Reploid, thus his armor possesses wings and a maw-like visor.
* AscendedFanboy: Got to follow his hero, the original Massimo, for a while in an attempt to grow stronger. Eventually, he was pushed to ''become'' Massimo himself.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: He was looking for a way to get stronger. What better way to get stronger than to be handed your hero's legacy and forced to fight to defend it?
* BecomingTheBoast: He is actually the student of the real Steel Massimo. But his mentor was captured so he put on his armor and went to go save him. When met up by X later, he seems really nervous and in over his head until he realizes X is there and starts to puff up his chest and put on a MilesGloriosus act. Later he finds his mentor close to death and his mentor basically tells him to TakeUpMySword. As the game progresses he goes from an [[EagerRookie inexperienced]] [[CowardlyLion wannabe hero]] [[CharacterDevelopment to]] [[TookALevelInBadass the asskicking]] [[KnightInShiningArmor real deal.]]
* BerserkButton: Insulting the original Massimo.
-->"...feeble Massimo? FEEBLE MASSIMO?! [[CurseCutShort You Sunnova-]]!"
* TheBigGuy: His imposing frame is probably the reason why he's the party member who appears most often in cutscenes after Zero and Axl steal the spotlight and Spider dies.
* CowardlyLion: Is still working on his self-confidence and anxiety issues, but when push comes to shove, he'll bring an axe down into a Maverick's head if need be.
* ElCidPloy: Starts out as a good-natured FakeUltimateHero (specifically an imitation and protégé-in-spirit of his own role model) and ultimately grows to become a genuine hero in his own right.
* DorkKnight: He's a GentleGiant and a nervous wreck filled with anxiety and low-self esteem. But despite this, he's a strong and determined hero who [[BecomingTheBoast becomes the badass persona he originally masked himself as]].
* {{Expy}}: He and the original Massimo seem to be a combined Expy of the titular protagonist of ''VideoGame/MaximoGhostsToGlory''.
* FaceOfAThug: Has an intimidating glare, and most of his face is covered by armor. Not only that, but he's got huge wings on his back, a dragon-shaped visor, and imposing green armor. However, he's really not that scary of a guy once you get to know him.
* FakeUltimateHero: Played with; at first he seems like he's just a fake poser, but he begins to grow into his role over time and become a true Ultimate Hero.
* GentleGiant: He's very kind and caring.
* GlassCannon: Especially towards the latter half of the game, as he's weak to [[FireIceLightning all three]] ElementalPowers. His high health combined with Force metals can help deal with this, though.
* GoldenSupermode: His Glint Armor, which not only enhances his powers but also negates the elemental weakness, making him just as tough as he is strong.
* HeroicBSOD: Suffers a short one after leaving the party to be with the original Massimo in his final moments. He gets snapped out of it when he finds Silver Horn stepping on Nana and taunting the original Massimo.
* HeroicBuild: The largest and most "muscular" Reploid of X's party.
* {{Hunk}}: [[HeroicBuild He definetly has the body build to be one]]. He's even aware of it despite all of his self esteem issues if the player tells him that he does have a chance with Marino.
-->Steel Massimo: "Yeah! I thought so! I've got the looks. Now all I need is strength! Then I'll be every woman’s dream! Hah hah hah!"
* IconicOutfit: His armor is what makes him a hero at first - it's how he is able to pass as Massimo - but he later becomes ''more'' than just a rando in a suit of armor.
* InterfaceSpoiler: A very, ''very'' minor one. When he joins your party, he's Level 1 despite having allegedly been fighting the Rebellion for quite some time. This is the player's first hint that this [[FakeUltimateHero Massimo]] [[TakeUpMySword isn't the original]].
* TheLoad: In practice, he turns into this trope after Marino shows up, due to the fact that he takes 150% damage from all attacks in his base form, and while his Glint Armor reduces his elemental weakness, it's use is limited - while his high attack and HP seem like they would offset this, his low speed removes any advantage that they might give. There's also the fact that he can only equip 2 force metals (the lowest of any party member), meaning that it's very likely you'll switch him out permanently for Marino or Cinnamon after chapter 4, and by the time Axl and Zero show up, he might as well not exist.
* MightyGlacier: Massimo is the physically strongest party member, has high endurance and the highest LE value; However, he is also the slowest party member and is vulnerable to elemental attacks.
* MistakenForBadass: Due to his armor, people think he's the famous hero Steel Massimo. He's not yet, but hey, he's working on it.
* NoNameGiven: His original name and identity is unknown.
* OutOfFocus: While Massimo does retain the spotlight slightly more than Marino or Cinnamon, he doesn't have a single line during the final chapter of the game.
* PaperTiger: He seems quite intimidating and tries to put on a brave face, but when X and Spider first find him, he's suffering a nervous breakdown and tries to play it off.
* SuperStrength: Sent Silver Horn, a colossal Maverick more than twice his size and ten times his weight, flying with a single punch! Granted, his BerserkButton was pushed hard, but still ''very'' impressive.
* TakingUpTheMantle: Followed the original Steel Massimo for a while, and after the original's defeat, he is granted his armor and told to continue the legacy of the Steel Massimo name.
* WalkingSpoiler: It's hard to explain him without bringing up his backstory and the fact that he's not the original Massimo.
* WaveMotionGun: His Action Trigger is a powerful concentrated laser beam.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: He disappears after the final battle and is never mentioned again.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Marino]]
!!'''Marino'''
[[quoteright:270:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/marino_9136.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Mariko Suzuki (JP), Creator/CarolAnneDay (EN)

A thief who specializes in stealing high-end technology and leaking information. She was looking to steal the Force Metal Generator from Gaudile Laboratory, and ends up befriending and kidnapping the naive Cinnamon. She then joins X's team, mostly because the Rebellion is stealing precious valuables ''she'' could be stealing!
----
* ActionGirl: Works as a thief, and isn't afraid to get her hands dirty in a fight.
* TheAloner: Marino's thievery is a solo gig, and she's reluctant to join the Resistance; later she even admits she doesn't get close to people in order to avoid getting hurt. She is also unsurprised by Redips' betrayal, claiming that's how all business types are.
* BadassInDistress: After breaking into the Gaudile Laboratory and kidnapping Cinnamon, she gets brought to the brink of death by Dr. Psyche's guards. Fortunately, Cinnamon heals her.
* ClassyCatBurglar: She's known as a master thief, and makes sure to wear the demeanor of a gallant rogue. She believes that she is a step above petty criminals, and tries to avoid looking like a common thief.
* DivingKick: While she mostly uses blades, Marino Stamp from her Action Trigger is a two-footed dive kick.
* DoppelgangerAttack: Her ultimate Action Trigger outcome, Mirage Dive, has her create two copies of herself and use a DivingKick that damages all enemies.
* FlashStep: When performing melee attacks, she teleports forwards while leaving an afterimage.
* FragileSpeedster: She's already quick, and her [[SuperMode Hyper Mode]] cranks up her speed to such an absurd degree that she can potentially get infinite turns until it runs out. However, she isn't very durable and has the second lowest LE of the group.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: While Marino doesn't exactly go off on her own adventures, she does take an interest in Axl's copy ability and begins investigating it. Before the final chapter, she discovers that ''Spider'''s data was logged into a copy research facility; players won't realize the significance of this until the battle with Redips.
* HiddenDepths: She was a fashion model before becoming becoming a ninja-thief.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: She can't help but be kind to Cinnamon, even while kidnapping her for the Force Metal Generator.
* HighlyVisibleNinja: Despite being a ninja, her armor is bright pink and gold. Not only that, but her every footstep makes a loud noise, like most Reploids, and she gets caught by Dr. Psyche with relative ease. Possibly justified, since Marino was a model before becoming a thief and thus wasn't necessarily built for stealth.
* JustLikeRobinHood: Only steals from high-profile targets. In her [[AllThereInTheManual concept art]] it specifies that she makes expensive medical technologies available to the public. It's implied that she still takes some of the cut, however, given how reluctant she is to give up theft at the end of the game.
* LightFeminineAndDarkFeminine: Dark to Cinnamon's Light.
* LovelyAngels: Has this dynamic with Cinnamon.
* MsViceGirl: Greed; continues to talk about theft even after joining the heroic Resistance.
* NeverBeHurtAgain: As mentioned, she avoids getting close to people so she doesn't get hurt by them.
* NominalHero: As stated above, her excuse for joining the team after Cinnamon convinces her isn't quite above board, and she does only half-heartedly promise to X that she'll try to stop stealing if you talk to her at Central Tower after beating Epsilon.
* OddlyShapedSword: More like daggers, but some of her weapons are a pair of question mark-shaped blades.
* OutOfFocus: After joining the party, she doesn't have another voiced line in the entire game, only speaking if you talk to her between chapters (or occasionally out in the field).
* PaletteSwap: Her Quicksilver Hyper Mode turns her armor black, her hair yellow, and her body a pale yellow that makes it look like bare skin.
* PinkMeansFeminine: Her armor is mostly pink.
* RobotBuddy: Keeps her beam knives holstered in a floating Mechaniloid called Hayohn (that little {{Oni}} on her back). It just kinda sits at her waist, but it's confirmed to be a separate entity from her body.
* StockNinjaWeaponry: Able to wield an assortment of beam knives and shuriken.
* {{Stripperific}}:
** Her outfit is one of the most form-fitting in the game, and in her Quicksilver Hyper Mode becomes particularly revealing below the waist.
** Her Halloween outfit in ''X [=DiVE=]'' exposes her upper arms and thighs, and has a NavelDeepNeckline for good measure.
* SuccubiAndIncubi: Her Halloween outfit in ''X [=DiVE=]'' evokes this image, with it's {{Stripperific}} bat-motif.
* TechnicolorNinja: Styles herself as a Reploid kunoichi, getting around Gaudile's lab through quickness and stealth and using ninja weapons such as shurikens and chakrams. Contrasts nicely with the samurai [[Characters/MegaManXHeroes Zero]].
* TookALevelInKindness: Learns to care more about the Resistance than herself.
* TownGirls: Butch to Cinnamon's femme and Nana's neither.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: She disappears (along with everyone besides X, Zero, and Axl) after the final battle, leaving her whereabouts unknown. Early on she states she plans to steal less and live more legitimately, but that's about it.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Cinnamon]]
!!'''Cinnamon'''
[[quoteright:179:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cinnamon_8708.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AiNonaka (JP), Creator/CaitlynneMedrek (EN)

A young Reploid who lives a sheltered life in Doctor Gaudile's lab, created to house his Force Metal Generator invention. Although she's naive and shy, she's the one who convinces both Gaudile and Marino to join X against the Cadre because she wants to make her own decisions and help her new friends.
----
* AscendedExtra: She had an archetype based after her in the cancelled ''Rockman Online'', giving equal importance as the X, Zero, and Duo archetypes.
* AnimeHair: In a subdued example, her hair spreads out behind her back to resemble angel wings. Justified in that she's a Reploid, meaning anything is possible.
* ApologeticAttacker:
--> "Sorry, but I did warn you."
* BadassAdorable: Despite being a healer, Cinnamon can lay down the hurt if you let her, especially with the Kitty Gloves that give [[DamageIncreasingDebuff an all-around debuff]] on each hit.
* CatGirl: Her White Day variant in ''X [=DiVE=]'' has feline paws, ears and tail.
* CheerfulChild: She appears to be foolishly naive once Marino comes to her to steal the Generator (which happens to be inside her), but is only really charmed by the thief because she senses goodness in Marino. After things get really bad with Psyche's attack on the lab, she's clearly wiser to the ways of the world, but usually maintains an optimistic and hopeful demeanor nonetheless.
* CombatMedic: Give her the [[InfinityPlusOneSword Kitty Gloves]] and she'll hit just as hard as the others—and that's even ''after'' the nerf they got in the International editions to 16 power. The Japanese release, by comparison, had ''66'', effectively making Cinnamon able to hit almost as hard as Marino's Comet weapons, and that's before you take into account how the gloves can reduce enemy stats with each hit.
* {{Expy}}:
** Design-wise, Cinnamon is similar to Nina from the ''Franchise/BreathOfFire'' series (also from Creator/{{Capcom}}). Both have blonde hair and angel wings (Nina's are real, Cinnamon's are wings-shaped hair), and are the main healers of the party.
** She's also arguably yet another expy of the original [[VideoGame/MegaManClassic Roll]], having the same eye (DependingOnTheArtist) and hair colors and being the equivalent of a sweet supporting character role to the rest of the main cast (albeit still fully capable as a party member). Her name even goes well with Roll's ThemeNaming.
* FrillyUpgrade: Her Hyper Mode adds some frills and laces to her dress, and even replaces her nurse hat with a frilled band.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Easily the sweetest member of the entire Resistance.
* HealingHands: Her Action Trigger is a preferred way of healing the party members without wasting sub-tanks.
* KimonoIsTraditional: Her New Year variant in ''X [=DiVE=]'' wears a yukata.
* LightFeminineAndDarkFeminine: Light to Marino's Dark.
* LovelyAngels: Has this dynamic with Marino.
* TheMedic: With her around, sub tanks aren't even necessary to heal her allies 100%. All it takes is her Action Trigger.
* {{Meido}}: Her Hyper Mode form makes her dress black and adds some white frills, making her look like a maid.
* MysticalWaif: Her Force Metal Generator and healing capabilities make her very valuable and coveted by all sides, or at least it seems that way at first. However, none of the Rebellion after Psyche really care about acquiring her, which they probably wouldn't given the actual force metal refinery they have as well as the existence of Supra-force metal, and while her healing trigger and metal forging capabilities do come in handy, the Resistance members clearly see her more as a person than as a tool.
* OutOfFocus: Like Marino, she pretty much becomes DemotedToExtra once she joins the party, getting negligible appearances in any cutscenes at all. Her only voiced line after she joins is a scared shriek in the opening of the final chaper.
* PaletteSwap: Her Iron Maiden form is pretty much just her usual look with a new black paintjob. In ''Rockman X [=DiVE=]'', she gets some extra frills to look extra maid-like.
* ParasolOfPrettiness: Her New Year variant in ''X [=DiVE=]'' includes a parasol matching her kimono.
* PinkMeansFeminine: Both her White Day and New Year variants in ''X [=DiVE=]'' wear outfits primarily pink in color.
* PowerFist: Her weapons are various replacement hands, and she attacks by slapping the enemy. While there's a weapon line that's just her normal hands, the rest are drills, oversized syringes, toy hammers, and weird green spheres that replace both of her hands.
* PowerGivesYouWings: Her ''hair'' functions as this during her Angelic Aide healing Action Trigger.
* RequiredSecondaryPowers: She has the highest tolerance for Force Metal out of the entire cast, which makes sense considering the Generator is installed inside of her.
* TagalongKid: She's explicitly very young, naive, and inexperienced, and thus takes this role from the now-OlderAndWiser Axl.
* ThemeNaming: Cinnamon is named after a spice, and the game features three similar-looking merchants named Saffron, Cumin, and Jasmine as well.
* TrueBlueFemininity: Her outfit is mainly white and blue, and she's demure and sweet.
* TheUglyGuysHotDaughter: Cinnamon's cute as a button and (at least in terms of motifs) literally angelic. Her "father", meanwhile, is an anthropomorphic platypus.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: She is a girly girl to Nana's tomboy.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Her post-game whereabouts are the best-kept secret out of everyone's.
* WhiteMagicianGirl: A kind, sweet and naive girl, who is the party's designated healer. Of course, her healing is not actually magic, but in the sci-fi setting of ''Mega Man X'' it [[ClarkesThirdLaw might as well be it]].
[[/folder]]
!!!Supporting Characters
[[folder:Professor Gaudille]]
!!'''Professor Gaudille'''
[[quoteright:211:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/professor_gaudile_265.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Naoki Tatsuta (JP), Randall Wiebe (EN)

A platypus Reploid who developed the Force Metal Generator and built Cinnamon. He's determined to stay out of the conflict between X and the Cadre, but Cinnamon eventually convinces him to join the cause.
----
* ActualPacifist: He refused to join the Resistance (nor especially the Rebellion) because he didn't want his inventions to be used for war. Cinnamon convinces him anyway.
* TheSmartGuy: A force metal expert researcher with a mechanical nature laboratory who can build reploids and create force metal forging gems, yeap, he qualifies.
* TokenHeroicOrc: The Professor is probably one of the ''only'' animal-type Reploids in the series that is not a Maverick that you get to interact with.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: Implied with Dr. Psyche.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Chief R]]
!!'''Chief R (R-Chiffon)'''
[[quoteright:127:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chief_r_4657.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/HideyukiHori (JP), Ben Jeffery (EN)

The leader of the Resistance. He was initally held hostage by Wild Jango until X freed him, after which he assumed command and assisted the team with his clever strategies and deep knowledge of Giga City.
----
* MissionControl: To Central Tower.
* ParrotPetPosition: The parrot on his shoulder. It survives to the ending.
* PirateParrot: Apparently it's for monitoring and information handling.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Reserved yet prudent, the Resistance highly respects his strategic wisdom.
* StealthPun: See the [[PirateParrot mechaniloid bird]] on his shoulder? [[TalkLikeAPirate Think what his name sounds like.]]
** As a bonus, one of his concept sketches shows him with a peg leg as well.
** And the bird's name? O-M-8.
* SurprisinglySuddenDeath: In the last chapter, he is suddenly killed when signaling the transport ship that was supposed to take the Hunters home opened fire.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Nana]]
!!'''Nana'''
[[quoteright:106:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/xcmnana_9882.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AkemiKanda (JP), Angie Beers (EN)

A young computer specialist who worked at Central Tower before being kidnapped by Silver Horn and forced to work for him as a sys-op at Tiana Camp. Once X and his friends free her, she becomes the navigator for the team.
----
* BridgeBunny: The team's navigator and Chief R's second in command.
* BroughtToYouByTheLetterS[=/=]SevenIsNana: Her chestplate features two 7's on it.
* EmotionlessGirl: She's surprisingly stone-faced and quiet even after you rescue her. It is possible that it's a result of being forced to be this trope during her time at Tianna Camp.
* {{Irony}}: She has not one, but two LuckyCharm[=s=] on her -- LuckySeven on her chest and a horseshoe on her belt. Getting caught by Silver Horn was anything ''but'' lucky.
* MissionControl: To Central Tower.
* PromotedToPlayable: On April 2022, she was confirmed to join the playable roster in ''X [=DiVE=]''.
* SpannerInTheWorks: Doesn't tip Silver Horn off about X and company when they get to her room, naturally due to the fact that he's holding her hostage, and they're there to rescue her and the other POW's.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: Easily for Alia, considering that Nana's role is almost identical to Alia's, not to mention that this is the only game since her introduction that Alia doesn't appear in.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: She is a tomboy to Cinnamon's girly girl.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Aile]]
!!'''Aile'''
[[quoteright:254:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aile_5828.jpg]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Masaya Takatsuka (JP), Scott Roberts (EN)

A member of the Resistance against the Rebellion Army, he was apparently a former partner of Spider's who was injured and lost the use of his legs, replacing them with a hover-wheelchair of sorts. After agreeing to work with X and giving him his ID, he sacrifices himself to allow X to escape the endless number of Preons converging on their location. Not to be confused with the ''VideoGame/MegaManZX'' protagonist with the same name.
----
* BountyHunter: His previous occupation.
* FrozenFace: His mouth doesn't move when he talks in-game (the right-side image is concept art), although he does have one. Just how bad was that injury?
* HeroicSacrifice: As stated above, sacrifices himself to stop the PREON mechaniloids converging in on him and X.
* StupidSacrifice: We all know that X could have taken those [=PREONS=]. It's possible that Aile simply [[DeathSeeker didn't believe he was capable of any other contribution to the cause...]]
* WeHardlyKnewYe: His sacrifice takes place in the same scene he's introduced in.
[[/folder]]

!!The Rebellion Army
!!!Rebellion Cadres
[[folder:Epsilon]]
!!'''Epsilon'''
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epsilon_3233.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YukitoshiHori (JP), Dave Pettitt (EN)

The leader of the Rebellion Army. He was actually the result of secret Supra Force Metal experiments and was the only subject to not go Maverick or be destroyed for failure. Given extraordinary abilities thanks to the Supra Force Metal, he sought to give all reploids the same power to evolve beyond what humans had created them to be...whether they actually wanted it or not.
----
* AllEncompassingMantle: He usually wears a black, tattered cape that makes him look even more massive and intimidating than he actually is. He removes it before his battle.
* AntiVillain: Turns out to be this, believing that force is the only way to get people to listen to their ideals.
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: The strongest member of the Rebellion is also their High Commander.
* ClimaxBoss: Closes out the Resistance-Rebellion struggle, but there's still more to go in the game.
* DeathEqualsRedemption: Implied in TheStinger, where it was stated that the Government posthumously cleared Epsilon of all charges of being a Maverick, instead transferring the charges onto Redips.
* DiscOneFinalBoss: Unsurprising for a ''VideoGame/MegaManX'' game, however TheManBehindTheMan is not the one fans had come to expect...
* {{Expy}}:
** His goals are very similar to the goals of General from ''VideoGame/MegaManX4''.
** He's also got some things in common with Sigma. Visionary reploid, Greek letter name, ripped cloak (''VideoGame/MegaManX6''), shoulder rods (''VideoGame/MegaManX7''), the same English voice actor (''VideoGame/MegaManX8'')... also being a DiscOneFinalBoss for a Reploid with a copy ability (also ''X8'')...
** His appearance is akin to a large Reploid version of ComicBook/{{Cloak|AndDagger}}.
* LargeAndInCharge: Taller and broader than any of his followers in the Rebellion (sans Silver Horn), standing around the same height as Byte from ''X3'' or High Max from ''X6''.
* MeaningfulName: In mathematics, the symbol Epsilon represents the margin of error. Obviously, his creators knew how risky their Supra-force metal experiments were.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Implied with the hierarchy of his rebellion: Most of the ones more prone to being maverick are placed at the bottom tier, and those who aren't maverick are at the top.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: They add to the intimidation factor that makes him a…
* ScaryBlackMan: Big E here is the first black humanoid Reploid in the series.
* SequentialBoss: The fight against him consists of two phases.
* SoleSurvivor: It's stated that he was the only one of the Reploids who underwent Supra Force Metal testing that neither went Maverick from exposure nor was killed from it. This also acted as his motivation for exposing all Reploids to the Supra Force Metal, realizing that the results could be reproduced.
* ThemeNaming: Epsilon shares a Greek Letter motif with Sigma.
* UnwittingPawn: Redips essentially allows him to collect Supra Force Metal, so he can come and take it in one fell swoop.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Wants to advance the potential of Reploids, forced into taking the "by any means necessary" route due to being framed for Maverick.
* YourTerroristsAreOurFreedomFighters: The Rebellion is basically the epitome of this, and he's the commander.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YasunoriMasutani (JP), Corby Proctor (EN)

A member of the Rebellion Cadre, and Epsilon's [[TheDragon right hand man]]. He's the most sympathetic of the Cadre, and first to make X question just how 'evil' they really are.
----
* AdaptiveAbility: Is able to resist and counter any second consecutive melee or ranged attack.
* AntiVillain: He's loyal to the antagonists but his methods and personality are far from those of a heel.
* BlackKnight: Somewhat subverted, as his hard armor is a combination of yellow and orange. However, the rest of his attire is mostly black, he's every bit the NobleDemon, and according to the data for his chamber at Lagrano Ruins he's ''built'' to be a knight.
* TheDragon: He serves this role for Epsilon, being the second-best fighter in the Rebellion Army and Epsilon's most trusted enforcer. He also serves as the last obstacle before you fight Epsilon himself.
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: The plot and dialogue played his first battle as a [[DuelBoss duel between him and X]], even with other characters praising X for facing him alone, but in gameplay it was really a normal three-on-one battle.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: Has a massive scar on one side of his face, hence the name.
* NobleDemon: He's incredibly loyal to Epsilon, even taking a fatal Charge Shot for him. Also…
* NobleTopEnforcer: He's the merciful, honorable, loyal, right hand man of Epsilon, who is even willing to heal his own enemies that attacked him first after he damaged them.
* NeverHurtAnInnocent: When he stormed Central Tower to challenge X to a fight, he only attacked the members of the Resistance that attacked him first, and even went as far as to heal the ones he damaged.
* SenselessSacrifice: He attempted to hold off the Maverick Hunters to buy time for Epsilon to escape, taking his life in the process. Didn't work.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Epsilon and the Rebellion.

Another member of the Rebellion Cadre. She initially was the chief of security at the Force Metal Research Facility until Epsilon convinced her to join him. She seemed to share a tender relationship with Scarface, only giving him 'permission' to use her key.
----
* AnIcePerson: Her elemental power, making her the opposite of fellow Rebellion high flyer Mach Jentra. That said, it's not all she's got to her.
* BackForTheDead: Ferham survives the events at the Melda Ore Plant and returns to help the heroes during the final battle. While she survives an direct attack from Redips, she sacrifices herself to destroy the Supra-Force Metal for good.
* TheBaroness: Sexpot personality type. Clearly enjoys flirting with Zero in chapters 7 and 8.
* BigDamnHeroes: She arrives just in time to weaken Redips, giving X and co. and opportunity to defeat him.
* ChainedByFashion: Her Swimsuit variant in ''X [=DiVE=]'' has a few chains around her waist, heels and left thigh.
* DressedLikeADominatrix: She even coos for Zero to come 'play with her' while she's whipping him.
* DoppelgangerAttack: It's called Crimson Shade, and it's even more potent than Zero's Heat Haze.
* EvilRedhead: Not as visible in her original game, but in ''X [=DiVE=]'' without her helmet she's shown with dark red hair (with the tips dyed purple). Subverted on the "evil" part towards the end, as seen below.
* {{Flight}}: Seems to be VTOL-based, in fact it's so good she's able to travel this way.
* HarpingOnAboutHarpies: Her design is based to emulated a harpy.
* HighHeelFaceTurn: And an example that's ''not'' turning against the group she was working with, but rather affirming that, while their goals are dangerous, their hearts are in the right place. It's the TreacherousAdvisor on the Federation end that had them branded Maverick so he could take their goods and become a god with it that was the real bastard to worry about.
* PromotedToPlayable: In ''[=X DiVE=]''.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath[=/=]HeroicSacrifice: Leaves the atmosphere with the Supra-Force metal after the final battle, blowing herself up with it so that it can never be used for harm again.
* SexySantaDress: In ''[=X DiVE=]'', she has an alternate skin that's clearly based on this, albeit with a CommissarCap instead of a traditional Santa hat.
* ShowgirlSkirt: Her Swimsuit variant in ''[=X DiVE=]'' is more designed like an exotic dancer outfit than a swimsuit.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Ferham is the only female member of the Rebellion Army and is the one to do a HighHeelFaceTurn.
* TookALevelInKindness: In the ending, she had redeemed herself and apologized to X afterwards before she sacrifices herself.
* UndyingLoyalty: To the other Rebellion Cadres.
* WhipOfDominance: Ferham is one of the officers of the Rebellion Army and [[WeaponSpecialization specializes in wielding a whip in combat]] and demonstrates a sadistic streak and CombatSadomasochist tendencies when fighting. It also complements her {{Dominatrix}} and authoritative overtones, being a harpy-themed {{Fembot}} with [[HighHeelPower stiletto high heels]], and red ColorMotif. In one scene, she even coos for Zero to come 'play with her' while she's whipping him.

The last member of the Rebellion Cadre. Unlike his comrades, Botos talks big about the Cadre's cause but is actually a pompous coward only out for his own gain. When Ferham is defeated by X and his party, he rips her key from her body so he can steal the Supra Force Metal for himself. He's killed by an unknown assailant who seems to look very familiar…
----
* DirtyCoward: Only fights his enemies when he thinks he's at an advantage, but should he find himself outgunned, he'll scour out a way to will run from his enemies.
* DopplegangerSpin: He relies on this heavily after losing his force metal and combat prowess.
* FatBastard: Full of greed and cowardice.
* FlunkyBoss: Summon minions to help him in fight.
* GetBackHereBoss: X spends a long time trying to catch up to him after their first battle. Of course, by this point Botos is too weak to be a proper boss...
* {{Gonk}}: He looks very fat, and is prone to making a very stupid and ugly expression when he opens his mouth. And he keeps his mouth open pretty much all the time.
* {{Irony}}: He's RewardedAsATraitorDeserves. Tried to manipulate the Rebellion in order to get his hands on all the Supra-Force Metal and the power that would come with it. His killer was doing the exact same thing, but was just better at it—and without even being in Epsilon's organization.
* {{Jerkass}}: As Ferham found out the hard way when she needed help.
* MusicalAssassin: Use sound attacks to debuff the party status.
* NotInThisForYourRevolution: Is only hanging with the Rebellion so he can get his hands on Supra Metal, openly attacks a wounded Ferham for her metal and calls Epsilon and the Rebellion STUPID when he's on the verge of acquiring the warhead's metal scot free.
* SmallNameBigEgo: When he's in a situation he thinks he can handle, he is way too full of himself.
* TheStarscream: Is one of Epsilon high-ranked officers and plans to take the Supra Metal for himself.
* TopHeavyGuy: His midsection is so much bigger than his legs it's a wonder they can support it.
* VillainDecay: After his force metal is knocked out of him in his first boss battle, he stops being a threat to X's party and becomes an annoyance instead.

A Maverick Hunters who was deployed to Giga City with X and Zero. However, he betrays the two into the hands of the Rebellion Army, hungry for power. He later returns to challenge X, now powered up with Supra-Force Metal. Upon his defeat, he tries a last ditch attack, but is destroyed by Spider.
----
* BackpackCannon: His Savage Tusk of Thunder cannon, and he is a damn good shot.
* {{Expy}}: To several of the [[TheDragon Dragons]] in the series: The most obvious is Vile, both being vicious, power-hungry former Maverick Hunter turned traitors with a ShoulderCannon as one of their main weapons. Then there's Double, another psychopath with an energy BladeBelowTheShoulder who shows a ''much'' nastier side of his personality when he's revealed to be playing for the other side. Finally, there's Dynamo, another rival of X and Zero who uses both an energy blaster and saber and worships Sigma much like how Shadow worships Epsilon.
* FaceHeelTurn: In the first chapter of the story.
* FlashStep: Does this to approach for his saber attacks.
* InterfaceSpoiler: Never officially joins the playable party through all of chapter 1.
* LaserBlade: His melee weapon, in contrast to Zero's LaserBlade.
* LaserGuidedKarma: No one could thought that Zero, whom Shadow almost kills at the end of chapter 1, would arrive in the middle of chapter 6 to save his friends from the traitor. Before Shadow can attempt to kill Zero again, Spider takes the nearly-fatal hit.
* LivingMoodRing: His eyes change depending on his personality at the time. When he's trying/pretending to be a nice guy they're blue, but when he goes into power-hungry {{heel}} mode they go [[RedEyesTakeWarning crimson]].
* MoreThanMindControl: It was said that aside from wanting power, he actually agreed with the Rebellion's beliefs, at least enough to show him [[UndyingLoyalty taking offense to Epsilon being considered a Maverick]]. His former commanding officer turning out to be the real villain may or may not have made him ProperlyParanoid.

----
* AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs: Pulled this on the Resistance before the start of the game.
* NotMeThisTime: It is implied in the aftermath of his battle at Far East HQ that the "Wild Jango" that attacked Giga City, held Chief R hostage, and was fought by X and Spider was actually a Next-Generation Reploid mimicking him, possibly Redips.
* PantheraAwesome: Of the lynx variety.

* {{Hypocrite}}: The overhelming majority of his [=POWs=] hardly count as the "slimy vermin of the world" he says must bow to the Rebellion's power.

A semi-cadre of the Rebellion Army. He's the boss guarding the Gimialla Mine where Supra-Force Metal is reportedly located. However, it was all a trap to get X's party locked into the mine's command room, where he planned to destroy them either through battle or by activating a SelfDestructMechanism. This led to Spider's sacrifice, a key event driving the events of the second half of the game.
----
* BarrierChangeBoss: He uses all three FireIceLightning elements and swaps between them: Burning Genie, Lightning Genie, and Dancing Genie.
* ConvenientColorChange: His body energy and armor change colors depending on his elemental state. His default state features his electric state's yellow and sky blue armor with his fire state's burning body energy.
* LostInTranslation: As implied by his Japanese name Ancientus, each of his forms is inspired by an ancient civilization. This is more clear in the Japanese version, especially with help from concept art.
** Burning Genie Incentas uses the Ra Head and Egypt Hands.
** Lightning Genie Incentas uses the Jade Head and Barenke Hands - the latter is a mistranslation of Palenque, a Mayan city-state, indicating the head is a reference to Mayan jade death masks.
** Dancing Genie Incentas uses the Baron Head and Bali Hands - the former is a mistranslation of Barong, a Balinese deity represented by a monstrous mask and known for dancing.
* MultiArmedAndDangerous: Especially with the Asura Knuckle.
* MultipleHeadCase: Has three separate faces, one for each elemental state. His Ra head is an Egyptian funerary mask, his Jade head is a Mayan death mask, and his Baron head is a Balinese Barong mask.
* SelfDestructMechanism: Planned to use one to finish the heroes, in case he couldn't beat them.
* TreacheryIsASpecialKindOfEvil: Incentas speaks lowly of Shadow for being a traitor to the Maverick Hunters.
* XanatosGambit: The introduction of high capacity Force Metal mining, combined with having to go through the Supra-Force-infused Shadow, was just about enough to draw the Resistance command team right into a lethal trap. But when X and his team finally get all the Supra Force Metal from Epsilon and give it to Redips, he betrays them and labels them as traitors. He uses the SFM to declare himself a god and intends to rule over all reploids.
----
* AstralFinale: Great Redips is fought in a space station, to be exact.
* BigBad: He manipulated both the Rebellion Army and the Hunters into collecting Supra Force Metal for him, and plans to use it to rule not only over the Earth, but the entire universe.
* BlingOfWar: Pretty much just another {{Expy}} of Colonel or Signas. Of course, it comes with a CommissarCap.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: He calls X and his friends Mavericks because he cannot understand their PowerOfFriendship.
* EvilAllAlong: He pretends to care about suppressing the Rebellion, but in reality he manipulates both parties so he can gain Supra Force Metal and rule the world. Even Zero has to ask again what he and the others were fighting for.
* {{Expy}}:
** One to Signas and [[VideoGame/MegaManX4 Colonel]], even sharing the latter's rank.
** Ultimately subverted, as he's more an expy to [[VideoGame/MegaManX4 Double]], than anyone else, as discussed under [[SdrawkcabName Spider]].
** Him being a boss for the Maverick Hunters who turned Maverick himself, talking about evolution, being the hidden BigBad manipulaing the conflict, and having facial marks (as Spider and right before [[OneWingedAngel transformation]]), also makes him and expy of Sigma. Which has sense, seeing as a New Generation Reploid, he has Sigma's DNA.
** His CommissarCap and status as a megalomaniacal BigBad in a Capcom video game also evokes [[Characters/StreetFighterTheFourKings a certain criminal dictator]] to a degree.
* AGodAmI: He proudly proclaims his OneWingedAngel form a "divine miracle", believes himself to be invincible, and wants to rule the whole universe. Additionally, his aforementioned final form is actually named "God Redips" in Japan, which was {{Bowdlerise}}d into "Great Redips" in English.
* HopelessBossFight: For the first half of the final battle.
* IronicEcho: You know how he mentions that History will tell who is a maverick? Well, the Government pretty much answered that question in the stinger when they transferred all of the charges against Epsilon to him.
* TheManBehindTheMan: Manipulated the entire Rebellion war so he could fish them out and take their Supra metal.
* MissionControl: Operates as this, ostensibly from Far East HQ.
* MixAndMatchWeapon: Redips' twin swords actually have gun barrels at the ends, which he shoots the party with in his animation for Ballistic.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Had he not shot Ferham in irritation with her attempt to pull off his [[{{Unobtainium}} Supra-Force Metal]] with the HealingFactor, she wouldn't have been able to do it and the Hunters would never have beaten him.
* SdrawkcabName: Purposefully misspelled as Rideps in the manual in order to put players off the scent.
* TreacherousAdvisor: Guided the Hunters into basically destroying the only guys in his way all the while planning to dispose of them as "traitors" afterward.

* GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere: He appears ''after'' the traditional BossRush in a random room before the FinalBoss. None of the characters acknowledge his presence after he's defeated, either.
* HybridMonster: He is a seahorse grafted onto a giant ribbonfish at the waist.
* MakingASplash: He is a seahorse/ribbonfish, after all.

A Reploid hidden away in Tianna Camp, who calls herself the "Super Idol" and seems to be working on a dance routine. She becomes agitated upon being walked in on by the party, oblivious to the powerful item inside her room…
----
* CuteAndPsycho: A cute looking Reploid girl, who packed incredible offensive power along with automatic recovery and StatusBuff ''at every turn'', and won't hesitate to [[RoboticPsychopath mercilessly unleash her deadly power]] to anyone who [[DisproportionateRetribution caught glance at her "secret lesson"]]. And no, she won't give any chance for explanation.
* GenderBender: Not herself but Axl can morph into her after you beat her, which leads to some amusing implications.
* IdolSinger: Sees herself as a "Super Idol".
* LoneWolfBoss: There's no indication that she has anything to do with the Rebellion. She might not even aware of X Ultimate Armor parts lying inside her secret room.
* KingMook: She's a boss version of the similar looking Belladonnas, with only visible difference is her metal oversized skirt in contrast with Belladonna's UnderwearOfPower.
* OptionalBoss: Tianna Key is needed to discover the secret room where she conduct her "secret lesson". Destroying her (and her Belladonnas) nets X a new Hyper Mode—this game's version of the Ultimate Armor!
* RegeneratingHealth: Both Rafflesian and the Belladonnas ''fully heal every turn'', making a concentrated blitz necessary to take each one out. On top of that, her stats ''also'' [[IncreasinglyLethalEnemy increase]] by every turn, thus making a prolonged battle potentially unwinnable.
* WolfpackBoss: She and her Belladonnas are this because on top of their impressive power, they always come in [[RuleOfThree threes]] whether she's among them (her Tianna Camp boss battle) or not (the end of the Eternal Forest "Path of the Strong" at Gaudile's lab).

A group of Reploids whose design is very similar to Rafflesian, and act as lesser version of her. Can be encountered both alongside Rafflesian (in Tianna Camp) and not (the end of the Eternal Forest "Path of the Strong" at Gaudile's lab).
----
* BossInMookClothing: Particularly apparent during their Eternal Forest encounter, as they are treated as regular enemies (without "WARNING" alarm), yet they can make short of the party if the player is unprepared.
* DesperationAttack: When only one Belladonna is left in a battle, she will use her powerful "Fatal Attack", which has 100% critical hit rate.
* MeaningfulName: Their name means "beautiful woman" in Italian. It also functions as ThemeNaming, as both rafflesias and belladonnas are plants with sinister qualities, with the former luring in insects with their rotten flesh smell for polination purposes and the latter being extremely poisonous.
* RegeneratingHealth: Like Rafflesian, their health regenerates every turn. However, their StatusBuff only activates when they get attacked.
* RuleOfThree: Always come in a group of threes, whether to accompany Rafflesian or on their own.
* UnderwearOfPower: Stands among the ''extremely'' rare example of female Reploids who wears one. It also acts as the most visible difference between them and Rafflesian.

[[quoteright:239:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ninetails_872.jpg]]
A group of dangerous criminal reploids who fight using a sort of robotic chi instead of elemental powers, sealed away in the lowest shaft area of Central Tower, which can only be accessed by a key acquired after defeating the game. They all look alike, and all have nine tail spaces on their backs, though how many tails are actually there varies between each one by name in escalating order from the first member encountered, Onetail, to the leader, Ninetails. [[ThatOneBoss The most powerful enemy in the game by far]], including all the other Tails and other hidden bosses, Ninetails seems to be the one they're all based off of.
----
* AllYourPowersCombined: Aside from the [[ShoutOut Annihilator Hadoken]], Puncture Arrows, and Ninetails' Nine Fragments, every other ability and attack they have is bitten off previous enemies in the game.
* AsianFoxSpirit: The android version. By the time one gets to Fivetails it shouldn't take much to figure out that the trail stops at Ninetails.
* BloodKnight: All we know is Ninetails is a dangerous criminal and he and the other Tails' reason for fighting the heroes when encountered boils down to "I challenge you to a fight."
* {{Superboss}}: They can only be fought after beating the game, and even the first of them hits harder than the final boss. Naturally, the strongest of them, Ninetails, is the game's ultimate challenge.
* DoppelgangerSpin: A possible interpretation of the Tails is that Ninetails is the only original one and the others are all shadow clones of him similar to what Botos does in chapter 8. This is based on the vast majority of their powers being borrowed from all the other enemies in the game, the fact that they all sound and look alike except for the tail spaces on their backs, and the Resistance troops referring to "'''A''' savagely strong prisoner", hinting at only one known captive held down at Shaft 999F.
* FixedDamageAttack: Ninetails' Nine Fragments does 999 damage 9 times to one character, for a total of ''8991 damage!''
* FireIceLightning: One of only a handful of enemies able to employ all three elements with equal lethality while not being weak to any of them.
* LoneWolfBoss: Like Rafflesian, they don't seem to be in with the Rebellion.
* ShoutOut: Their Annihilator [[KamehameHadoken Hadoken]] is a blatant reference to ''Franchise/StreetFighter''. Sadly, Axl can't copy it in his morph of him, instead using a set damage attack of the last of them.
* SuicideAttack: The Self Destruct technique of Fivetails and Sixtails. Fivetails will just [[EnemySummoner use SOS to summon a fresh Fivetails]]. Sixtails only does it once after ten turns have passed and ends the battle when he Self-Destructs, but if he does, [[PermanentlyMissableContent you lose the sub tank part and figure tokens he was carrying]] and can't obtain OneHundredPercentCompletion.
