:''Ordinary Boy''
:'''Riki Naoe'''
[[quoteright:202:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/naoe_riki_anime.png]]
->Voiced by: Creator/TomoeTamiyasu (game), Creator/YuiHorie (anime) (Japanese), Creator/ShannonEmerick (English)

The protagonist of the visual novel and the fifth and last member of the original Little Busters. A sophomore in high school. His parents died when he was young, and it was Kyousuke and the others that pulled him out of his depression. He has a meek disposition and a frail body, and is generally considered the weakest of the group, but he's also the one with the most common sense.
----
* AmazonChaser: Riki is initially attracted to Yuiko because he finds her ''awesome.'' Kengo, Masato and Kyousuke, on the other hand, [[NoGuyWantsAnAmazon are terrified.]]
* TheAntiNihilist: After his CharacterDevelopment, Riki comes to the conclusion that being born is a miracle in and of itself.
* ApologizesALot: It reaches its apex in Sasami's route, where she constantly berates Riki for apologizing when he has nothing to apologize for.
* AttractiveBentGender
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: His tsukkomi are actually noted in-story. Being a more or less openly nice guy, though, he doesn't get as much chance to show it as Tomoya or even Yuichi.
* CharacterDevelopment: As you complete more routes, you'll notice that after finishing two or three he'll grow more confident [[spoiler:culminating in him taking over Kyousuke's position in Refrain in order to reform the Little Busters after they largely collapsed due to Rin 2 ending.]]
* ChickMagnet: Not quite as popular as Kyousuke or Kengo, but upon a second consideration it's agreed that he has his own charm. Six main heroines, three more in Ecstasy and then Suginami Mutsumi for a total of ten girls.
* ClassicalAntiHero: Riki starts out weak and dependent on the other members of the Little Busters to help him out of his problems. His CharacterDevelopment revolves around him learning to [[GrewASpine rely on himself without having others there as a safety net]].
* DeadpanSnarker: Though less so than other Key protagonists.
* DelicateAndSickly: Not really a classical example, but narcolepsy is certainly crippling for a boy of this age, especially given the gameplay.
* {{Determinator}}: [[spoiler:Vows to fight against his narcoleptic condition in order to save Kyousuke and the others from the bus crash.]]
* DraggedIntoDrag: Tricked into wearing the school uniform for girls while sleeping over in the girls' dorm.
* FirstPersonSmartass: Unlike other key leads, Riki tends to keep his snark to himself. But when he doesn't he lands with then right in.
* GiverOfLameNames: He actually has no naming sense at all, so his names for losers in the battle rankings are literally two random words put together.
* TheHeart: [[spoiler:Until Refrain, where he tears apart the group dynamics when reforming the Little Busters.]]
* HeavySleeper: Suffers from narcolepsy. Saya convinces Riki to exploit his narcolepsy to sleep during classes, so he can stay up at night and stay on guard for the Darkness Executives. He wouldn't get in trouble since the teachers know about his condition, and he would be well rested enough to check out the underground dungeon with her at night. Rin's second route deconstructs his narcolepsy by forcing Riki into a situation where he needs to make money [[spoiler:after he and Rin run away]], yet his options are limited because of his condition.
* HeroWorshipper: To the point where Kengo considers him "Kyousuke's Underling."
* HomoeroticSubtext: Lampshaded and not just by [[YaoiFangirl Mio.]] If you choose not to go with the girls to a slumber party, the game will more or less call you gay by saying Riki has a small crush on Kyousuke.
** If Riki loses against Kengo during battles, Kengo will sometimes gives him titles such as "Loves Kyousuke" or "In a three-way love triangle between Kyousuke and Masato".
* HypocrisyNod: Downplayed in [[spoiler:Komari's]] route, as it remains internal narration he doesn't discuss with others. He realizes how hard it will be to help her get over the death of [[spoiler:her older brother]] when he hasn't fully confronted his own issues involving the death of his parents.
* HypocriteHasAPoint: In [[spoiler:Komari's]] route, he tries to help her get over the death of [[spoiler:her older brother Takuya]], even though he acknowledges he has similar issues with his parents that he hasn't fully gotten over yet, as he doesn't confront his own issues until Refrain, which takes place after this route. However, because he has similar issues with his parents, he knows what he's talking about and manages to help [[spoiler:Komari]] confront her own issues.
* IfItsYouItsOkay: Stated ([[AlternateCharacterInterpretation perhaps as a joke, perhaps seriously)]] to be his feelings for Kyousuke:
-->'''Riki:''' ''Mutual love?! What should I do...? Kyousuke likes me too... We're both guys, but it's Kyousuke, so...''
* IWillWaitForYou: He decides to wait for Sasami during the bad end of her route, [[spoiler:where she stays behind in Kuro's artificial world and ends up RetGone from the memories of everyone except Riki]].
* LikeBrotherAndSister: His relationship with Rin. Even if they start dating, Riki is painfully aware that his version of love is a lot different than hers. [[spoiler:Their relationship is much more romantic after Riki proposes.]]
* MagikarpPower: His starting stats improve every time you reach a true ending. [[spoiler: This is a plot point.]]
* MatchmakerCrush: In Sasami's route, he's already started falling for her once he starts trying to match her with Kengo.
* NiceGuy: Despite his moments of sarcasm, he is willing to help others in need whenever necessary.
* ObliviousToLove:
** Though to a believable extent. Apparently, he was completely unaware regarding Kud and for Mio she expressed the sentiment in a ''very'' roundabout manner. If Mio is currently rooming with Kud, though, Riki's obliviousness has to take it up a notch.
** The bad end to Sasami's route depends on whether or not Riki can realize his feelings for Sasami. If he can't think of a reason he was helping her out beyond his own self-satisfaction, the bad end occurs, which has Sasami [[spoiler:ending up RetGone from the memories of everyone except for Riki]], and him realizing he had fallen for her after the fact.
* OnlySaneMan
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: Doesn't really stand out, unlike the rest of his childhood friends.
* OrphansOrdeal: Riki's dependency issues and fear of the outside world stem from the fact that the original Little Busters were the only people there for him in the aftermath of his parents' deaths. Part of his CharacterDevelopment is being able to overcome these issues.
* ReplacementGoldfish: [[spoiler:To Komari, who begins to mistake Riki for her deceased older brother during her HeroicBSOD. In one BadEnd, Riki accepts that it's just easier to be a replacement than to fix the problem]].
* ShrinkingViolet: Downplayed example, as while he is easily flustered and doesn't interact much with others outside his group of friends, he doesn't freeze up in front of strangers like Rin does and thus looks more social by comparison especially when they are together.
* SurrealHorror: Instory example during Kurugaya route. [[spoiler:Riki is gradually more and more horrified at the time loop and how things are ''slipping.'' First the days don't add up, he can't remember his lessons, then it's always raining and then it begins to snow. In June. And no one finds this strange. Eventually, the world begins to collapse and Riki still has no idea what's going on, only that there's nothing he can do.]]
* TaremeEyes: he has very large eyes.
* ThanksForTheMammary
--> Riki received the title "Boobs Demon!"
* TookALevelInDumbass: Riki can take a lot of dumb dialog options on the Saya route.
* WistfulAmnesia: [[spoiler:Used as a railroading mechanic to make sure you don't simply keep replaying routes and move towards the end. After you complete routes, you lose the ability to make certain choices to move into the completed route. But Riki doesn't know why, except that (as in the case of Kurugaya) he feels that 'something sad' will happen if he goes there. He sometimes retains vague memories of completed routes, like Kud sending a letter or Haruka and Kanata being twins.]]
* WouldHitAGirl: He doesn't act on it, but his narration implies he was ready to punch Kanata after having enough of the disciplinary committee's WitchHunt of Haruka.

[[folder:Rin Natsume]]
: ''Prideful Kitten Who Doesn't Easily Take To Others''
: '''Rin Natsume'''
[[quoteright:214:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/natsume_rin_anime.png]]
->Voiced by: Creator/TomoeTamiyasu (Japanese), Creator/BrittneyKarbowski (English)

The main heroine and the secondary protagonist of the visual novel. Kyousuke's younger sister. Despite having a fiery temper, she's very shy around strangers and is thus initially unable to make friends outside of the Little Busters.
----
* AnimalMotifs: She's more catlike than the actual cats in the game. She even hisses!
%%* BadLiar
* BetterWithNonHumanCompany: She has trouble talking to people, but she loves cats and they love her.
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: She is incapable of giving a proper tsukkomi. Instead, she merely hits people as hard as she can before you do her route. After that, she learns how to do it.
* BreakTheCutie: [[spoiler:The end of Rin 2 breaks her, forcing Riki to help heal her at the beginning of Refrain.]]
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: She's Riki's childhood friend and one of his romantic options.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Zig-zagged whenever it concerns Riki. During Kurugaya's route, she leaves in a fit of rage when Riki starts gushing about Kurugaya. In her own route, she asks Riki out, but only ''after'' Suginami confessed to Riki. However, unlike with Kurugaya, she didn't show any hostility towards Suginami. In the first ending of Refrain, Rin is fine with Riki being interested in another girl, with her even [[ShipperOnDeck highlighting the positive traits of some of the other girls]], including Kurugaya, who Rin was previously jealous of. However, the ending to Sasami's route, [[spoiler:which takes place after the events of Refrain]], shows Rin was jealous of Riki dating Sasami, though unlike the other girls, Sasami and Rin have trouble getting along, implying Rin was mad that Riki was dating Sasami specifically.
* DeathOfAThousandCuts: Her cats in the battle rankings. She can have a ton of them attacking at any one time, but they inflict little damage and may be doing other things entirely since they're cats.
* DudeMagnet: She's popular with boys because of her cute appearance and catlike features.
* EarnYourFun: Due to her MagikarpPower, Sasami is too hard to beat on the first playthrough without cheats.
* EmotionalRegression: After completing her first route, Rin will become more social around the other girls. However, [[spoiler:the events that transpire in her second route cause her to be even more shy and anti-social than she was at the start of the story. By time Refrain starts, Riki is the only ChildhoodFriend she doesn't freeze up around, and she's so traumatized that the only people she interacts with besides Riki are young children]].
* FieryRedhead: ZigZagged. Rin has auburn hair, but the fiery part of her personality only comes out when she's with the Little Busters. Around everyone else, she turns into a ShrinkingViolet.
* FridgeLogic: [[InvokedTrope Invoked.]] [[spoiler:If it occurred to you that there's no way Rin can ever be self sufficient with her personality, well, you're not the only one: Refrain explicitly states that the point of the earlier routes was largely to prepare Rin for the real world since Kyousuke believes he and everyone but Riki and her are going to die and he won't be able to take care of her anymore. Given how she has behaved in previous routes, it is easy to see his point.]]
* GiverOfLameNames: She doesn't normally name the cats herself, but when she does, she proves that bad taste in names is apparently genetic.
* GrewASpine: After the first playthrough of her route she is a lot more sociable, although still a little awkward. However, [[spoiler:when Rin 2 comes around she actually ''breaks down'' because she is so bad with unfamiliar people and situations, making fixing her the first part of the final route.]]
* IdiotHair: She has a cowlick pointing up at the top of her head.
* IndifferentBeauty: She's a DudeMagnet, but she's not interested.
* IntrovertedCatPerson: Played with; while she's very fiery around the other Little Busters, she's a ShrinkingViolet [[SituationalSociability around people she doesn't know well]]. Her introversion is further enforced by her love of cats.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She can be rough with the other Little Busters, but does care for them.
* KindheartedCatLover: She's very fond of cats, to the point where she's raising thirteen strays by herself. If one of her cats is hurt, there'll be hell to pay.
* TheLancer: Doubles as this by the end of the Refrain route.
* LikeBrotherAndSister: With Riki, to the point where some of the other Little Busters flat-out call her his troublesome little sister. She describes her love for him exactly the same as her love for her brother. Though there are a few times she gets rather self-conscious around him. [[spoiler:Their relationship is much more romantic after Riki proposes.]]
* MagikarpPower: Same as Riki.
* MeaningfulName: Rin's name is supposed to mimic the "ring" sound a bell makes, just like the one she wears on her hair. Additionally, the kanji in her name means "bell".
* NoSocialSkills: She can't speak politely, tends to be rather catty and blunt in personality, and has trouble socializing with people outside of her fairly small friend group. One wonders how she expects to get by in the world after school.
* OlderThanSheLooks: She's short and flat-chested despite being a teenager, so she looks like a preteen instead.
* OneOfTheBoys: Initially she doesn't have any female friends and is much more comfortable around the other Little Busters (who are all male), having gone along with their "adventures" as a child.
* RedOniBlueOni: The red oni to Saya's blue oni.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: She has this role as the only girl of the core members of Little Busters along with her cute catlike personality.
* ShrinkingViolet: She's extremely shy around people she doesn't know. When anyone else tries to interact with her, she tends to instantly hide behind Riki.
* SignatureHeadgear: She has a signature hair ribbon with a bell on the left side. Fittingly, her name means bell.
* SituationalSociability: She's very catty with a fiery temper around the other Little Busters, but she's a ShrinkingViolet around strangers.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: She's the only female member out of the five original members of the Little Busters.
* SproutingEars: In the visual novel, one of her "angry" sprites has her sprout cat ears along with gaining HellishPupils.
* TinyTyrannicalGirl: She's petite and has a domineering attitude, although only when she's around the other Little Busters members.
* TomboyishPonytail: She wears her hair in a ponytail and she's very much OneOfTheBoys at first.
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: All her friends are guys and loves playing baseball with them. She also has a big soft spot for cats.
* {{Tsundere}}: Her personality is much like a cat's; abrasive and fierce at some moments, shy and docile at others.

[[folder:Kyousuke Natsume]]
: ''Leader Who Turns Ordinary Days Into Missions''
: '''Kyousuke Natsume'''
[[quoteright:290:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/natsume_kyousuke_anime.png]]
->Voiced by: Creator/HikaruMidorikawa, Yuu Kamonomiya (young) (Japanese), Creator/BlakeShepard (English)

Rin's older brother and the leader of the Little Busters. Because he's the oldest and the most reliable out of the group, he is respected (for the most part) by the other members and looked up to, and as such, also acts as a mediator whenever a fight breaks out between two of the members. He's also the one who comes up with missions and things to do for the others, either to help them out or simply to kill time.
----
* TheAce: He's pretty much good at everything.
** In Rin 2, we see him pitching. He's clearly much better than Rin despite the fact the latter has been training for weeks.
* BatmanGambit: [[spoiler:The plot of the story is Kyousuke's gambit to make Riki and Rin strong enough to face the awful truth in the real world. He is opposed by Kengo and Riki, though the latter doesn't know it. The former goes along with his plan until Rin 2 and the latter sends his script off the rails, causing Rin to break and nearly ruining the plan.]]
* BeneathTheMask: Despite being the fun-loving and childish leader of the Little Busters, he actually wants his friends to mature. [[spoiler:In the Kyousuke/Kengo/Masato power dynamic of the Dream World, he wants Riki and Rin to become strong enough to face the AwfulTruth.]]
* BigBrotherMentor: The eldest member of the group, he takes Riki in particular under his wing. When Riki needs advice, the first person he turns to is usually Kyousuke.
* TheChessmaster: Though he gets OutGambitted by Kurugaya once and [[spoiler:his main plan to strengthen Riki and Rin ends up backfiring on him for a time.]]
* ChickMagnet: Very popular with girls, though not to the extent that Kengo is.
* ComedicLolicon: PlayedForLaughs. When Rin finds out about this via a DidIJustSayThatOutLoud moment, HilarityEnsues.
-->Kyousuke gains the title of "Lolicon Suspect"
* CreatingLife: [[spoiler:During the main story, the cat Lennon is a part of him, created to deliver messages to Rin for him.]]
* {{Expy}}: He's basically a hyperactive [[VisualNovel/{{Clannad}} Yusuke Yoshino]]. They even have the same voice.
* {{Familiar}}: [[spoiler:Lennon the cat]].
* GiverOfLameNames: He names Rin's cats after famous people, resulting in them having [[NamedAfterSomebodyFamous names like Lennon and Hitler.]] He says it's important to have a name, but it doesn't matter what it is.
* TheHedonist: [[spoiler:Normally a positive example of the trope. However, through the course of the story he has broken down and only retains vestiges of the attitude. See HeroicBSOD below.]]
* HeroicBSOD: During Refrain, [[spoiler:he is half broken and half pretending to be broken. Though he is still struggling to succeed, he is no longer masking his exhaustion and despair and his thinking has also become dark and twisted: He knowingly exploits a brutal memory of Kengo's, causes Masato to go temporarily insane, and is obsessed with obtaining 'success' as he defines it. One of the thoughts he has is that the actual true end to the story where Riki and Rin stay calm after the accident and save everyone is repugnant and without meaning after the struggles he has gone through.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Blocked a gas leak that would have caused an explosion with his own body, despite sustaining heavy injuries from the crash.]]
* IfItsYouItsOkay: Would forgive Riki for an IndirectKiss from canned juice.
* JackOfAllStats: Well-rounded in everything.
* LargeHam: This guy has a lot of moments like this.
* TheLeader: [[spoiler:Until Refrain, where Riki tears apart the group dynamics when reforming the Little Busters.]]
* LoopholeAbuse: [[spoiler:During Refrain, Kyousuke realizes that at the same time he's in the dream world, he can also move himself in the real world. This allows him to move to another position, blocking the gasoline leak so Riki can save everyone.]]
* LoveFreak: He often spouts (and genuinely believes) the sort of morals that would be cheesy even in kids' cartoons and is invariably highly touched by Komari's statements, to an extent that surprises even her.
* {{Manchild}}: His innocence and easily influenced nature are actually considered to be some of his more attractive qualities.
* NotSoStoic: [[spoiler:During Refrain, when Riki says he doesn't want to lose him, Kyousuke breaks down completely saying he feels even worse about it.]]
* OmniscientMoralityLicense: [[spoiler:In Refrain, he basically drives Masato insane in order to set things up for Riki's reformation of the Little Busters. Masato never bothers bringing it up with him later.]]
** [[spoiler:He kills Saya ''a lot'' on her route, though in his defense he thought she was an aberrant {{NPC}}. He's nicer after realizing the truth.]]
* {{Otaku}}: [[spoiler:Played seriously in Refrain where he refuses to leave his room and spends all day reading manga. See Heroic BSOD.]]
* PaperThinDisguise: As Mask the Saito [[spoiler:and Shun Tokikaze.]]
* PeripheryDemographic: Both in-universe - he's very fond of shounen manga despite being far older than the intended readership - and out, as he is quite popular among people who aren't playing for the cute girls.
* PetTheDog: [[spoiler: Despite his BatmanGambit concerning Riki and Rin, he shows great concern about the other members such as helping Saya to reincarnate in the OVA or showing great concern after Kud goes back to her country.]]
* RealityWarper: [[spoiler:The dream world was created by all the Little Busters minus Riki and Rin, but of those either, five (the girls) appear almost completely unaware, two are henchmen who follow the script and then there's Kyousuke, who is basically the god of the dream world. He can change the weather, cause the cafeteria workers to get sick, control animals and more. He doesn't know everything that is going on inside, though. Outside the dream world, he's completely normal.]]
* RetGone: [[spoiler:Saya [[YouKillItYouBoughtIt assumes his role and powers]] if she manages to kill him.]]
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveConnections: He's friends with a few powerful students, which is how he can use the Baseball Club-room and get away with...basically everything he does.
* ShipperOnDeck: Supports the idea of Riki and Rin together entirely and has been hoping for it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Masato Inohara]]
: ''Lovable Straight Muscle Idiot''
: '''Masato Inohara'''
[[quoteright:244:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/inohara_masato_anime.png]]
->Voiced by: Creator/NobutoshiCanna (Japanese), Creator/GregAyres (English)

The third member of the Little Busters and Riki's roommate. He's obsessed with working out and maintaining his muscles, but falls a bit short when it comes to flexing his mind. He's often found bickering with Kengo over something stupid, and even more often found receiving a high kick from Rin for ''saying'' something stupid. Despite his tendency to often say things without thinking, he is considerate toward others and is very fond of Riki.
----
* AbsurdPhobia: In Sasami's route, Masato develops a fear of cats after [[spoiler:Sasami knocks him out in her cat form twice]]. No one besides Riki (who understands the context) takes this phobia seriously. Rin is confused how he could be scared of cats, while Kengo has fun mocking him for being so scared of a cat.
* BerserkButton: Not really Berserk, but he doesn't like having his idiocy pointed out, and he become visibly irritated around Haruka because she never puts any effort into anything other than causing problems in school.
* BigEater: Is overjoyed to find that Kengo's katsu dinner, which Masato has been stealing from, appears to magically replenish.
* TheBigGuy
* BromanticFoil
* ButtMonkey
* CripplingOverspecialization: During a class inspection by the School Board, Masato provides the correct answer to the problem on the blackboard and then falls asleep when the inspection is over. Riki notes that he spent all night studying for that day in addition to his muscle training, and that if he just used half the time and energy he spends training he would do much better in school.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Recruited into the Little Busters after Kyousuke and Rin beat him in a fight. [[spoiler:Recruited back into the Little Busters in the same way by Riki and Rin.]]
* DumbMuscle: And how!
* FearlessFool: His reaction when a skeleton pops out at him during a Haunted Mansion-style event? Punch it.
* HeroicBSOD: In Refrain, [[spoiler:Kyousuke fiddles with the world to deliberately drive him mad by making every other person in the school look exactly like him, but only from his point of view. Masato loses it and starts beating up students randomly, forcing Riki and Rin to stop him. [[BatmanGambit Of course, this was exactly what Kyousuke intended.]]]]
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Shielded Riki with his body during the bus accident.]]
* HomoeroticSubtext: Often complains about being lonely whenever Riki starts spending less time with him to focus on a route heroine. When Riki and Rin start dating, Masato gets jealous... of Rin, because she'll be taking up even more of Riki's time now. Riki promptly stops thinking about the matter.
* IgnoredEpiphany: He realizes the reason he's such an idiot is because he always copies off of Riki instead of trying his best to learn. Then starts copying off of Kengo's homework.
* InsultBackfire: Often confuses incredulity at his stupidity for compliments.
* MadeOfIron: Thanks to his muscle training, probably.
* MightyGlacier: Has the highest strength and stamina out of all the characters, but has average or below average values for everything else.
* MrImagination: Often comes up with bizarre guesses as to what negative things the other person is thinking about him. Although sometimes he's spot-on.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: [[spoiler:In Refrain, the game's perspective will switch to Masato, and during the brief time we see his thoughts before Kyousuke makes him crazy, and we'll see that he is far more logical in his thinking than we thought possible. Kengo also states that he was only playing the fool because that was his job in the dream world.]]
* RunningGag: "Play with Masato."
* ThoseTwoGuys: With Kengo.
* WhosLaughingNow: [[spoiler:He originally started body-building to beat up all the bullies who made fun of him. Soon he started attacking people ''before'' they said anything to him just to make sure they never did. By the time he first met Kyousuke and Rin, [[MotiveDecay he had already forgotten]] that all he wanted was a place to belong.]]
* WisdomFromTheGutter: Riki even tells him that he says pretty insightful things from time to time.
* WorfHadTheFlu: Played for laughs, ish, when Kurugaya and Masato have a battle. Kurugaya gets a sword, Masato gets a pop up pirate. Everyone around is strongly of the opinion that with a better weapon it would have been awesome battle.
** In his other two plot-fights with Rin, he also suffers this. In the first, she gets a 3-piece-staff while he gets an eel pie; in the second, she uses her cats while he's left with ''nail clippers.''
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Kengo Miyazawa]]
: ''Masato's Strongest Rival''
: '''Kengo Miyazawa'''
[[quoteright:244:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/miyazawa_kengo_anime.png]]
->Voiced by: Creator/YuseiOda, Yuu Kamonomiya (young) (Japanese), Leraldo Anzaldua (English)

The fourth member of the Little Busters, and the one with the most sense after Riki. He practices kendo, making him the only member of the group who actually participates in a club activity, and is the only member to refuse to play baseball as a team (at least on the first playthrough.) He has a cynical personality and often gets into a fight with Masato.
----
* BeneathTheMask: While he's normally the group's [[TheStoic stoic]], he's actually considered the most childish and a bit of a crybaby. [[spoiler:In the Kyousuke/Kengo/Masato power dynamic of the Dream World, he wants Riki and Rin to stay innocent and immature forever so they'll be protected from the AwfulTruth.]]
* BerserkButton: The normally stoic Kengo completely loses it after Kyousuke uses the image of [[spoiler:[[MyGreatestFailure Miyuki]] to make him miss a home-run and lose their competition]].
* ChickMagnet: Or so we hear. The only one we see is Sasami. Kengo seems to be aware but indifferent.
* CustomUniform: Absolutely hates wearing his school uniform, so he instead goes around in his kendo uniform. And after he joins the team, he makes his own Little Busters jumper and starts wearing it around.
* DeadpanSnarker
* DefeatMeansFriendship: [[spoiler:Rejoins the Little Busters after being defeated in a baseball match by Rin.]]
* HairTriggerTemper: We have no idea why, but Masato pisses him off really easily.
* HeirToTheDojo: His father runs a kendo dojo, and Kengo was always training before the Little Busters showed up.
* HeroicSacrifice: Shielded Rin [[spoiler: during the bus crash.]]
* IgnoranceIsBliss: [[spoiler:Wants to keep the GroundhogDayLoop going forever, so Riki and Rin won't have to face the AwfulTruth in the real world, and also so he can continue to play with everyone.]]
* TheLancer: Via contrast to Kyousuke, though if anyone is Kyousuke's second in command it's Riki.
* MistakenForRomance: Early on, there's a scene where Masato sees him and Miyuki together and assumes she's his girlfriend. When Kengo mentions her name, everyone instantly understands that it's not the case and that he's trying to make her see that there's more to life than archery.
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler:Not being able to save Miyuki in the real world.]]
* NiceGuy: Beyond his stoic attitude is a man who would never ignore someone in need.
* NotSoAboveItAll: After the first playthrough.
* ObfuscatingDisability: [[spoiler:He never actually injures his arm.]]
* ShipperOnDeck: Refrain reveals that like Kyousuke, he also supports the idea of Riki/Rin.
* TheStoic: He's not very emotive, but heÂŽs not quite stone-faced either.
* StoneWall: Less base stamina than Masato, but makes up for it with kendo equipment that boosts his already high defense even higher.
* ThoseTwoGuys: With Masato.
* TookALevelInCheerfulness: He's a lot more fun loving after injuring his arm.

!!Additional Members of the Little Busters
[[folder:Komari Kamikita]]
: ''Peerlessly Cute Fairy Tale Girl''
: '''Komari Kamikita'''
[[quoteright:290:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kamikita_komari_anime.png]]
->Voiced by: Creator/NatsumiYanase (Japanese), Creator/TiaBallard (English)

The first girl Riki recruits into Little Busters. Komari is very popular with people in general due to her friendliness and cuteness, but quick thinking isn't her forte and she is clumsy both in action and words (often embarrassing herself by talking too much). She has rather childish interests, showing a fondness for things like fairy tales, picture books and sweets, but she also does quite well in her studies.
----
* ButtMonkey: Not on the same level as Masato, but she still seems to attract a fair amount of trouble. It's all played for cuteness however.
* CharmPoint: Komari fancies the star in her hair to be this.
* ConnectedAllAlong: She and Sasami were apparently friends before Komari joined the Little Busters. Sasami's route takes this even further, [[spoiler:revealing that the two of them are roommates]].
* CuteClumsyGirl: She's very clumsy, but it's always played for cuteness.
* DullEyesOfUnhappiness: [[spoiler:During her HeroicBSOD.]]
* DumbBlonde: Played with; she's blonde and despite being very childish and naive, she's not BookDumb by any means.
* ForHappiness: Komari really just wants to see everyone in the Little Busters! to be happy.
* GenerationXerox: Of her grandmother, who was also called Komari.
* GirlishPigtails: Wears her hair in short pigtails, emphasizing her innocent personality.
* GoofyPrintUnderwear: A RunningGag, someone (usually Riki) will see her underwear, leading to ThatDidntHappen.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: She's blonde, and her most notable character trait is her kindness and how she wants to spread happiness to everyone.
* HeroicBSOD: [[spoiler:Right after seeing a dead kitten, she remembers everything about her dead brother. Later, you learn that this is triggered whenever she sees someone/thing die, or blood.]]
* IdiotHair: Although a lot of characters sport this, hers is the most noticeable one. However, while she's rather naive and childish at times, she's not BookDumb since she actually gets very good grades.
* InnocentBlueEyes: She has blue eyes and she's very much a WideEyedIdealist.
* JokeCharacter: If she wins a fight she's in, one of titles she can give the loser is even 'I actually lost to Komari-chan.'
* LethalJokeCharacter: [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] if she manages to place first in the battle ranking, as Riki will utter "Eh?! Seriously?!" in disbelief when Kyousuke mails everyone the results. Also see MagikarpPower below.
* LovingAShadow: [[spoiler:During her HeroicBSOD, Komari begins to mistake Riki for her deceased older brother.]]
* MagikarpPower: Different from Riki and Rin, in that she starts with low stats and gains them 1.5x faster than most other characters. In an aversion to GameplayAndStorySegregation, there's a scene in one of the practice sessions that refers to it too.
** In most rare cases she tend to end up in the top of the battle ranking.
* MsFanservice: She gets a lot of {{Panty Shot}}s.
* NiceGirl: Cheerful, friendly, and optimistic. She just want to see everyone happy.
* NonUniformUniform: Wears a cream-colored sweater instead of the usual black blazer. Kanata once calls her out on this.
* ThePollyanna: Deconstructed. She always maintains her cheerful and optimistic personality [[spoiler:mainly because her older brother didn't want to see her sad. When her brother realized that he was going to die the next day, he told Komari that his death is just a dream. This causes Komari to have TraumaInducedAmnesia and any indicators of death will cause her to enter a HeroicBSOD and temporarily see a close male friend (in this case, Riki) as her big brother, taking her weeks to snap out of this state of mind. This whole situation makes her unable to deal with death or anything sad.]]
* RecurringDreams: Komari dreams of being with her older brother, an older brother she's never had. Later, we find out [[spoiler:that her brother did exist, and she's forgotten about him as a form of TraumaInducedAmnesia, making this an example of DreamingTheTruth.]]
* SignatureHeadgear: Her trademark star and super long ribbons, which she considers to be her {{Charm Point}}s.
* SmarterThanYouLook: She's actually a very good student who regularly gets high grades, despite being a [[CuteClumsyGirl clumsy]], childish WideEyedIdealist who isn't good at thinking before she acts.
* SweetTooth: Whenever Riki visits her on the roof, she offers various sweets. When they go out on a date, she enjoys a parfait.
* TaremeEyes
* ThatDidntHappen: Komari's preferred response to [[AccidentalPervert anything embarrassing]]. Subverted when Riki agrees to forget the whole thing, but comments on her GoofyPrintUnderwear in the next sentence.
* TraumaButton: [[spoiler:Seeing blood or anything dead triggers her memories of her deceased older brother, which causes her to go into a HeroicBSOD.]]
* TraumaInducedAmnesia: [[spoiler:Her brother, knowing he was dying, tried to comfort her by convincing her that his death was only a dream. This leads to her forgetting he existed. When she remembers, she goes into a HeroicBSOD, tends to make someone she's close to into a ReplacementGoldfish and then forgets about her brother again.]]
* WideEyedIdealist: She strongly believes that you should always remain positive, that the world is filled with amazing and happy things, and that by making someone else happy you become happy which makes them even happier, causing a spiral of happiness for everyone. The main development at the end of her route is her learning to take a more realistic view of the world and accept both the good and bad parts of life.
* WistfulAmnesia: [[spoiler:As noted above, she can't quite remember her brother. But she feels like she should have an older brother. Occasionally in her normal behavior this can lead her to say some odd things or seem slightly depressed, but Riki and she herself don't seem to notice this.]]

[[folder:Yuiko Kurugaya]]
: ''A Tad Mischievous Anego''
: '''Yuiko Kurugaya'''
[[quoteright:310:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kurugaya_yuiko_anime.png]]
->Voiced by: Creator/RyoukoTanaka (Japanese), Creator/CarliMosier (English)

Kurugaya (who prefers people to refer to her by her last name) is in the same grade and age as Riki and most of the other characters, but she both acts and talks in a very mature fashion, pretty much cementing her image as an older sister to everyone. She is also extremely smart and agile, and have traumatized Masato, Kengo and Kyousuke by beating them in combat in the past.
----
* AccidentalMisnaming: Not only does she not like being called Yui-chan, she had no idea that Komari was even referring to her at first.
* ActionGirl: She's the strongest female character in the game, able to beat all the males and leave them traumatized.
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Not that she minds, but a lot of people really resent her calm demeanor and casual excellence. A few are even foolish enough [[SuicidalOverconfidence to try striking out at her.]]
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: She's the tallest and bustiest of the heroines and with long black hair. She's perpetually composed and distant from most of the school before joining the Little Busters. After that, though, it's revealed that she's quite the tease.
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: During Kurugaya's route, Masato, Kengo and Kyousuke all contemplate Riki's interpretation of her as being cool. Kengo and Masato remember things she did during the battles, including pulling out a machine gun, while Kyousuke remember her exploding him, which Riki calls him out on as making up. Later, this is repeated almost entirely word for word[[note]]Up until Kyousuke describes a second impossible event[[/note]] only this time Rin chimes in. Kurugaya's crime? Playing with her and treating her like a kitten.
--> '''Rin''': There's nothing quite so dreadful as having the back of your ears scratched.
* BadassBookworm: She's one of the best students in the entire country and strong enough to make Masato, Kengo, and Kyousuke fear her.
* BerserkButton: The only time in the entire game we see her genuinely PISSED is when 2 bullies mention taking their frustrations over her lack of reaction to their bullying out on Riki.
* BookSmart: Not only does she get some of the highest grades at school, she's ranked in the top 10 in national exams.
* BrokenAce: She's good at basically everything and her status as TheAce even gets {{lampshaded}} by Kudryavka. [[BookSmart She's in the top 10 in the national exams]], is a quick learner bordering on InstantExpert (she learned to make great cookies for Riki in 1 evening), has killer measurements, [[CoolBigSis always helpful]] and [[NiceGirl nice]], [[ExcuseMeWhileIMultitask can multitask to ridiculous levels]] and has CharlesAtlasSuperpower. But never felt much in the way of emotion before joining the Little Busters. She just faked it.
* BullyingADragon: Believe it or not, there are people stupid enough to actually try bullying her. Kurugaya for her part seems completely indifferent, but retaliates viciously every time regardless. Yet people keep doing it anyway.
* CelibateHeroine: She tries to reject Riki's confession by being vague rather than saying she doesn't like him. She seems to feel she is unworthy for reasons that aren't stated as well as having difficulty grasping the emotion.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: At one point she kicks a door in half and sends it flying across the hall. Riki comments that it would probably kill had it been directed at a person.
* CoolBigSis: She styles herself as such, preferring to be called "Onee-san" or "Anego" despite being the same age as most of the rest of the cast.
* CutenessProximity: She likes cute things. This combined with being a LovableSexManiac leads to some unfortunate situations on the part of Rin, Komari and occasionally Kud.
* DeadpanSnarker: She has her moments of snarkiness.
-->'''Takamiya''': [[{{Angrish}} Ah- Wh- Th-]]\
'''Kurugaya''': "Ah- Wh- Th-?" What language is that? [[{{Omniglot}} Could you speak in one of the seven languages I actually understand]]?
* DoNotCallMePaul: She's completely unused to being referred to by her given name, Yuiko. She insists on being referred to by either her last name or with something along the lines of [[CoolBigSis Anego or Onee-san.]] [[spoiler:This is likely something to do with her being raised with the name of 'Elizabeth' though she doesn't seem to like that name either.]]
* EmbarrassingNickname: '''Komari''': Yui-chan~!
* EmotionlessGirl: Occasionally alludes to not really feeling much in the way of emotion, especially anger or sadness.
* EvilLaugh: Sometimes during the baseball practice.
* FragileSpeedster: Her speed reaches near instantaneous teleportation levels, but her stamina is relatively low.
* TheGadfly: By her own admission, one of the reasons she likes Riki is because he's fun to tease. You can see a lot of her trolling scenes during baseball practice by choosing to see what the girls are doing rather than taking the opportunity to practice, though in doing so you won't have as high of stats for the baseball game.
* GoodWithNumbers: While she excels at everything, math is her personal best school subject.
* ItAmusedMe: She does know where to draw the line. Example: Blaming Masato for some damage she caused, but portraying it to the teacher as an accident so he's just very confused rather than actually in trouble.
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: [[spoiler:Initially tries avoiding a romance with Riki because of this, and later more or less says he deserves someone better, but for a different reason this time.]]
* KatanasAreJustBetter: She usually carries a katana with her.
* LastNameBasis: She's not comfortable with ''anyone'' using her first name. Haruka notes that she got upset when Haruka called her something besides [[CoolBigSis Anego.]] [[spoiler:In her route she actually says to Riki that the only guy who can call her Yuiko is the man she intends to marry.]]
* LovableSexManiac: She likes making playthings (usually in perverted ways) out of anything she considers to be cute, particularly several of the female cast, her usual victims being Rin and Komari, though Kud is a close competitor in any scenes they have together.
* LoveHurts: [[spoiler:Some of the ending dialogue for her route indicates that learning love was nice. The pain that came with it when it became obvious the world wouldn't allow it is ''not'' one of the emotions she wanted to learn about. OffTheRails below details why.]]
* LuminescentBlush: Upon [[spoiler:the second confession by Riki]]. Her face becomes shadowed as it did when she was angry, but is now entirely pink as well!
* MaybeEverAfter: Kurugaya's second ending [[spoiler:takes place in the real world with a confession to Riki, which takes it outside of exclusively dream world territory.]]
* MaybeMagicMaybeMundane: Similar to previous heroines' special powers (like [[VisualNovel/{{AIR}} Kano]] talking to [[SpeaksFluentAnimal animals]]), she's ''hinted'' at having SuperSpeed and teleportation as powers, but it ''could'' just be that she's really fast.
* NonUniformUniform: She doesn't wear the pink ribbon most other female students wear, and her uniform shirt is partially unbuttoned.
* ObliviousToLove: She cannot take a hint about Riki's love at all. [[spoiler:But not quite as oblivious as she appears. There's a GroundhogDayLoop going on that means she can't remember the previous attempts to impress her nor their first date.]]
* OffTheRails: In Kurugaya's route, [[spoiler:Riki falls in love with her, of course, and she with him. This causes the world to collapse because it's incompatible with the setup given.]]
* {{Omniglot}}: She claims to speak seven languages. Probably can considering it's her.
* PerpetualSmiler: It's noted in-story that she has never been seen to get either angry or sad. Instead, she always has her triumphant/mocking smile. This pisses some people off and makes Kengo slightly uneasy.
* StepfordSmiler: Before the story begins, mostly. Until she met the Little Busters, she didn't really experience any emotion but knew it bothered her mom, so she learned to fake it.
* TheStoic: She's a naturally composed and collected type of character. Although she does have her share of NotSoStoic moments like when she has a blush spanning her entire face whenever Riki teases her.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: She's very aloof and distant and has difficulty grasping the concept of emotions. She's also a nice girl who will do anything for those she cares about.
* TheTease: She enjoys teasing people, often sexually.
%%* TranquilFury
%%* TheTrickster
%%* TricksterGirlfriend: For Riki.
* TsurimeEyes: The sharpness of her eyes suits the coolness and strength of her character.
* WeaknessTurnsHerOn: Admits that she likes Riki mostly because he's cute and fun to tease. And she certainly seems to enjoy {{Moe}} in the girls, too.
* WhatIsThisThingYouCallLove: She has a rather poor understanding of emotions in general. When she feels attraction for the first time in her life, she has the most dramatic visual and behavioral cues of just about any heroine since she's not used to it.
* YoungerThanSheLooks: Although the same age as most of the cast, Yuiko looks like she's in her early twenties or so, and being far taller than the rest of the female cast doesn't really help. It also doesn't tend to help that many of the other girls look ''younger'' than their actual age.
* YouWouldntLikeMeWhenImAngry: The first time she ever gets angry, she kicks a door so hard it flies across the hallway and breaks in two, then threatens to do the same to the target of her anger.

->Voiced by: Creator/KeikoSuzuki (Japanese), Creator/MargaretMcDonald (English)

Haruka is the only main character (aside from Kyousuke) that's in a different class from most of the other Little Busters, but she pretty much hangs out all the time in Riki's class anyways. She active enjoys causing as much of a ruckus as she can in school (and in other situations too), and thus is the bitter opponent in the eyes of the school's disciplinary committee headed by Kanata Futaki. Left-handed.
----
* AllWorkVsAllPlay: All Play to Kanata's All Work.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: [[spoiler:She intentionally causes problems to get back at her older twin sister Kanata. She becomes a much more positive example post-Refrain]].
* ArmourPiercingQuestion: In her route, when [[spoiler:she destroys the supper and the brand new dishes and states that she's going home, her mother asks, "Where will you go home to?". Haruka's driving question this whole time has been "Where do I belong?", and with Kanata trying to bully her out of the school and her parents' home being full of awkward fake niceness, she has no real answer.]]
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny
* AttentionWhore: Due to [[spoiler: her always being treated like crap and being TheUnfavorite]], Haruka is always wanting attention, particularly from Riki.
* BadLiar: As much as she likes to say she "always lies", when she's trying to pretend everything's fine is when you know she's making it up.
* BecomingTheMask: [[spoiler:Her resentment of Kanata was initially just an act the two of them planned together, but over time she began to forget that and hate her for real.]]
* BreakTheCutie: [[spoiler:Both in backstory by her [[BigScrewedUpFamily family]] and in her own route by Futaki.]]
* BrokenBird: Her cheerful attitude hides an incredibly depressed and insecure girl [[spoiler:with one of the most fucked up families you'll see]].
* ButtMonkey: Not so much as Masato, but, she tends to attract an unfair level of mockery from some of the other characters. She tends to invite it openly, however, with her hyperactive personality.
* CovertPervert: At one point Riki slips on a magazine in her room and [[ThanksForTheMammary gets himself a handful]]. Haruka doesn't seem to mind that much.
* DesperatelyCravesAffection: [[spoiler:To the point where near the end of her route she confides that she's not even really sure she truly loves Riki and that she hasn't just jumped at the first person to truly give her real affection.]]
* {{Dismotivation}}: [[spoiler:She's actually smarter and fitter than Kanata, but she intentionally does poorly. First it was to protect Kanata, then it was out of spite.]]
* DoesNotLikeSpam: She doesn't like mint flavored things, claiming they taste like medicine. [[spoiler:This is relevant in her route as it's one of the ways to detect when Kanata is pulling the TwinSwitch, as it's the scent of Kanata's perfume]].
* DrivenToSuicide: [[spoiler: In the bad end, she jumps in front of a moving car due to Riki failing to detect that Kanata was pulling the TwinSwitch.]]
* ForgetfulJones: She tends to forget how long ago things were, her backstory, while mostly true, is full of holes, and she forgets what she said the previous day. [[spoiler:Even the NPC parents made from her memories tend to contradict each other.]] Given how she's treated by the disciplinary committee and other authority figures in her route, it's safe to say that [[spoiler:she's been gaslit so often and always blamed for everything that's gone wrong, despite not being responsible for any of it, or even things that never happened in the first place, so she has trouble comprehending what's real.]]
* FreudianExcuse: [[spoiler:Turns out her behavior and personality aren't just because she's a genki girl troublemaker. No, her behavior actually contains several obvious markers of child abuse such as mood swings, behavioral issues, disrespect for authority and poor grades. She did not suffer sexual abuse, though, and doesn't carry any of the classic signs of it either.]]
%%* GenkiGirl: Complete with CatSmile.
* GirlishPigtails: Both on the same side of her head, and one is much longer than the other.
* HairTriggerTemper: In more ways than just anger. She gets easily happy, cries a lot and can anger at the drop of a hat.
%%* IdiotHair: Quite fittingly.
%%* ImprobableWeaponUser: Marbles.
* InformedAbility: Her cooking well with eggs in the anime, since it only shows her screwups in the [[spoiler:inheritance test]] and with the chiffon cake. In the visual novel, we do see her triumphs too.
* LegFocus: [[MaleGaze Riki notices her legs and finds them attractive]].
* LoveHurts: Implied on the Kanata route. While some of her anxiety comes from her strained relationship with Kanata, her behavior when she sees the two of them in the cafeteria makes it clear she's at least partially upset that the boy she loves is being taken away [[spoiler:by her own sister]]. The fact that Haruka [[spoiler:remembers her own route]] and is still clearly in love with Riki just makes it worse.
%%* NoIndoorVoice
* OneNoteCook: Anything she cooks that doesn't involve eggs tastes terrible. [[spoiler: It becomes a {{plot point}} later on in her route, since it's one of the only ways to tell her apart from her sister when the latter is pulling off the TwinSwitch.]]
%%* PolarOppositeTwins: [[spoiler:With Kanata.]]
* SouthpawAdvantage: She is left-handed. It comes up while they're setting her up for the baseball team and they briefly discuss the way she has a small advantage because of it. [[spoiler:It wasn't so advantageous when her BigScrewedUpFamily assumed left-handedness was a sign of weakness and beat her for it, though.]]
* StepfordSmiler: Her happy-go-lucky personality conceals a bitter past and her perpetual victimhood.
* TaremeEyes
* ThemeTwinNaming: With [[spoiler:her twin sister Kanata. Their names both mean "far away" or "distant". Their family branches' names are also similar, Futaki meaning two trees, and Saigusa meaning 3 branches]]
* TrademarkFavouriteFood: Not eggs, surprisingly, but oranges. She eats orange everything (candies, marmalade...) and always smells like oranges.
* TwinSwitch: [[spoiler:Not that Kanata told her.]] That kind of defeats the point. [[spoiler:If you don't figure it out, you get a bad end. The story is nice enough to give you some obvious hints, though, so if you're paying attention you won't hit it.]]
* TheUnfavorite: [[spoiler:Comes with being suspected of being a criminal's daughter. The family was so paranoid that Kanata couldn't escape suspicion either, despite her results.]]

: '''Kudryavka "Kud" Noumi'''
[[quoteright:292:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/noumi_kudryavka_anime.png]]
->Voiced by: Creator/NaomiWakabayashi (Japanese), Creator/TiffanyGrant (English)

Kudryavka (whose name is generally shortened to "Kud") is [[ButNotTooForeign one-quarter Japanese and three-quarter Russian]], and is born and raised in the fictional southern island state of Tebwa (formerly part of Soviet Union). She is studying abroad in Riki's school, but she is very knowledgeable in Japanese (both the language and its culture) due to the influence of her grandfather. However, Kud seems to have a much higher interest in learning English instead and tries to speak it whenever she can (usually failing horribly).
----
* ACupAngst: She doesn't much like being the TokenMiniMoe. When Haruka[[note]]second or third bustiest of the original heroines[[/note]] mentions to Kurugaya that she wishes she could be as busty as her, Kud has a comedic meltdown and jealousy of Haruka's already pretty decent figure.
* AnimalMotif: Dogs; she [[SproutingEars sometimes sprouts a dog's ears and tail]], she has two pet dogs, and her name is one of the nicknames that was given to [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laika Laika the Soviet space dog]]. To a lesser extent, she has a bat motif as well due to her bat-shaped hairclips.
* AnimalThemeNaming: She, her mother, and her two pet dogs' names all reference Soviet space dogs; Kud herself is named after one of the nicknames given to Laika, and her dogs are named after [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_space_dogs#Belka_and_Strelka Belka and Strelka]].
* TheAtoner: [[spoiler:The accident with the rocket already happened before the game, given that Kud owns some molten slag from it. The scene where she heads out to see her mother and gets captured and tortured obviously didn't happen in reality, but seems to be a way for Kud to punish herself for not being there.]]
* BabiesEverAfter: In spinoff Kud Wafter [[spoiler:she and Riki have a daughter named Kaya, in the end.]]
* BadLiar
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: She fell for Riki because he was the first person not to make fun or her name.
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: Boke. [[spoiler:Though it's not really explicitly pointed out, when Riki realizes that the class is laughing at her when he tsukkomis her gratuitous English he stops doing it.]]
* BookDumb: She isn't used to the Japanese examination system and isn't very good at multiple-choice tests while under pressures tends to consistently do pretty badly in tests.
* BreakoutCharacter: The story can't really be rewritten to feature her more, but Kud was extremely popular for basically being a fuzzy little ball of cuteness and ended up getting a spinoff of sorts known as ''Kud Wafter'' not unlike that of the heroine Tomoyo in ''VisualNovel/{{Clannad}}'' getting ''Tomoyo After.''
* ButNotTooForeign: She's one quarter Japanese and three quarters Russian. [[spoiler:In the end, this is actually the main point of her route. She's moved around her entire life and despite being very Japanese in her tastes and habits she is always seen as the funny foreigner girl.]]
* ButtMonkey: Gets treated a bit like a toy by a lot of students. They don't really seem to have much ill will for the most part and Kud only minds when it spills over to Riki.
* CounterAttack: Her special weapons (the dogs) only attack after Kud is hit. However, woe betide whoever actually gets hit by them, since Belka is decently powerful with lots of hits, and Strelka does a LOT of damage.
* CuteLittleFangs: She has small fangs which only add to her cute appearance and personality.
* DeusExMachina: [[spoiler:Her true ending. Had some interesting symbolism, though.]]
* EveryoneCanSeeIt: Even Masato noticed her crush on Riki.
* FunnyForeigner: One of the main themes of her route is deconstructing this: because her classmates only see her as a cute, exotic, amusing stereotype, they don't think to feel empathy for her and the poor girl ends up feeling like there's nowhere in the world she can call her home.
* GenerationXerox: Her mother also [[OlderThanTheyLook looks younger than her real age]].
* GratuitousEnglish: She loves trying to speak English, but is almost always horrible at it. Heck, Haruka is better at it than she is. The class likes to watch the BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine that she and Riki have going on over it.
** This [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5MSbLlBHv0 video]] show an example.
** Though in one scene she speaks in fluent English when she slams into Haruka. Riki [[LampshadeHanging lampshades]] this by wondering if she damaged her head.
* HeightAngst: Kud is a fair bit shorter than the rest of the cast, a full head shorter than the already short protagonist, and it's one of the things she often comments on in her occasional mumbled insecure rambles.
* ICantBelieveAGuyLikeYouWouldNoticeMe: If Riki jokingly asks to be her roommate, she'll nervously point out all of the other girls around Riki. That probably ties into why she never makes a move on him until it's obvious that their feelings are mutual.
* LoveHurts: She's initially crushed if Riki asks her for love advice on Sasami's route due to her crush on him, [[IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy though she's still ready to help]]. She cheers up after learning he's just [[TheMatchmaker playing matchmaker]].
* LuminescentBlush: When Riki blurts out a suggestion of himself as a possible roommate. She starts stuttering, mumbling and alternating between blushing enthusiasm and just blushing.
* MeaningfulName: Her full Russian name is [[OverlyLongName Kudryavka Anatolyevna Strugatskaya]]. Kudryavka was one of the nicknames given to Laika the Soviet space dog, who was the first animal to orbit the earth; Anatolyevna was a Soviet partisan (and she was considered as one of the most revered heroines in the Soviet Union), while Strugatskaya was the name of Soviet-Russian science fiction authors.
* NonUniformUniform: She wears a white cape over her uniform, as well as a matching white hat.
* NotEvenBotheringWithTheAccent: Playing straight in the original Japanese dub, but completely averted in the English dub where Creator/TiffanyGrant gave this character a really cute Russian accent.
* OlderThanSheLooks: Even moreso than Rin, Kud looks prepubescent. She is, however, about 16 years old. Needless to say, this is lampshaded repeatedly.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Mostly everyone refers to her as Kud.
* OverlyLongName: Her full Russian's name, Kudryavka Anatolyevna Strugatskaya.
* PervertedSniffing: Riki catches her sniffing his discarded shirt and blushing in Kud Wafter.
* PetTheDog: [[spoiler:Seves as this to [[AlphaBitch Sasami]] and [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Kanata]] in certain scenes both in and outside her route.]]
* RuleOfSymbolism: [[spoiler:Her ending is quite obviously a DeusExMachina , but the way it's done is used to tie up some of her earlier character points and how she's not going to let it break her. It is also a slight hint to the true nature of the story: Something impossible happened because it isn't the real world.]]
* SmarterThanYouLook: Good grades in everything ''except'' English. And that's after her not being used to the Japanese test system as well. She actually skipped a grade, making her a year younger than the rest of the class.
* SproutingEars: In the visual novel, she sometimes sprouts a dog's ears and tail.
%%* TaremeEyes
* TheirFirstTime: Notable since she's the only girl who can clearly have sex with Riki even in the [[SelfCensoredRelease clean versions of the VN]]. It just [[FadeToBlack Fades To Black]] instead.
* TokenMiniMoe: While she's a teenager like the rest of the cast, she qualifies due to her [[OlderThanTheyLook small and childike appearance]].
* VerbalTic: Wafuu! It's not added to the end of her sentences, though. Also overuses desu.

[[folder:Mio Nishizono]]
: ''Parasol Holding Calm-Natured Beauty''
: '''Mio Nishizono'''
[[quoteright:290:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nishizono_mio_anime.png]]
->Voiced by: Creator/ShihoKawaragi (game), Creator/YuikoTatsumi (anime) (Japanese), Creator/CaitlynnFrench (English)

Mio is a calm, quiet girl who enjoys reading. She tends to not actively interact with others and thus has very little presence in general. She keeps a parasol around whenever outside due to her weak health and never takes part in any sports activities. Nevertheless, Riki was successful in recruiting her at least as the manager of the baseball team.
----
* BewareTheQuietOnes: On the surface she seems like a delicate, fragile EmotionlessGirl. And indeed, her physical stats are quite low. But she's very intelligent and downright ruthless at times, such as when she takes advantage of every slight lapse in attention on Haruka's part during the newspaper fight and is able to hit her countless times, or when she performs an absolutely devastating take-down of Haruka's joke when they're only supposed to be performing a simple BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine.
* BrokenBird
* CastsNoShadow: He classmates call her "No shadow" due to how little presence she has. [[spoiler:She also literally doesn't have a shadow.]]
* TheComicallySerious: Her quiet demeanor doesn't get in the way of joining the gang's usual antics.
* CovertPervert: Although only because nobody has any idea what she's talking about when she starts talking about how she views the male cast as yaoi pairings. Well, not quite nobody. Kurugaya gets it, but states that while Mio is a theorist, she herself is [[SkinshipGrope more of]] a [[LovableSexManiac practitioner.]]
** Apparently Riki has begun to understand what she's thinking, as a Drama CD taking place after the main story shows.
--> '''Kyousuke''': I was just thinking
 you’ve grown too, huh?
-->'''Riki''': Uwah, don’t look there!
-->'''Komari''': Uwaah, M-Mio-chan collapsed in the water with her nose bleeding!!
-->'''Riki (In his head)''': That just now was probably a bulls-eye for Nishizono-san

* CuteBookworm: She's almost always found sitting and quietly reading on her own at the back of the school before Riki comes across her.
* DeadpanSnarker: The absolute queen of snarkers in the game. She really has a venomous mouth sometimes, and she delivers most of her lines while using her normal or bored expression.
* DelicateAndSickly: The excuse given for why she carries her parasol around everywhere and avoids physical activity is because of her poor health. [[spoiler:Subverted since while she is physically weak, she doesn't actually have any illnesses; she simply has no shadow and without the parasol people will notice.]]
* DontYouDarePityMe: [[spoiler:Claims that Riki doesn't love her, he pities her and uses this as an excuse to let Midori take her place.]]
* EmotionlessGirl: The "emotionally repressed" type.
* {{Expy}}: In terms of looks, she very much resembles Ryou Fujibayashi from ''VisualNovel/{{CLANNAD}}''. In terms of personality, she's very much like Kotomi Ichinose, right down to her love of reading.
* TheGadfly: After awhile, it becomes clear that beneath her deadpan facade she's nearly as much a troll as Kurugaya.
* JokeCharacter: All of her stats except Concentration are very low.
** LethalJokeCharacter: Once you finish her route, she will gain several extremely powerful weapons from the next playthrough onwards, including a computer virus, a beam rifle and a ''[[LaserBlade lightsaber]]''.
* KissOfLife: [[spoiler:She admits that her dramatic kiss with Riki wasn't her FirstKiss since she had tried giving him CPR while he was unconscious. Riki notes that she describes it so mechanically that there's no way it could be viewed as romantic at all.]]
* LastNameBasis: [[spoiler:Plot point starting a third or halfway through her route.]]
* LongingForFictionland: [[spoiler:She never had friends as a child because she was too busy playing make believe, wishing she lived in the world of stories. Eventually, she got lonely enough to invent an imaginary friend of sorts.]]
* MeaningfulName: [[spoiler:Subverted. Ish. The name Mio is written as 'beautiful fish' and Midori as 'beautiful bird,' but this didn't actually reflect the sea and sky separation from Mio's poem. Rather, the poem reminded her of the connection. Basically a coincidence.]]
* MementoMacguffin: Her book. To her, it symbolizes the lost relationship between her and [[spoiler:her possibly imaginary friend, Midori]].
* ParasolOfPain: She can use her parasol as a weapon in the battle ranking mini-game. It's not strong, but Mio can potentially hit people a lot of times with it.
** She also uses her Parasol as a shield, both in the Baseball Practice and on the papersword fight scene.
* ParasolOfPrettiness: She constantly carries a parasol around when she's outside, adding to her overall "delicately beautiful" image. While she supposedly needs it for her health, [[spoiler:it's really to hide that she [[CastsNotShadow has no shadow]]]].
* TheQuietOne: She doesn't talk much.
* ReiAyanamiExpy: Short blue hair? Initially comes off as an EmotionlessGirl? Check. Eventually opens up and shows more emotions thanks to the main character? Check.
* ShyBlueHairedGirl: She's a very quiet, soft-spoken girl with blue hair and an emotionless personality.
* SiblingYinYang: With Midori.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: She comes off as very cold and distant, as when Riki initially finds her in a remote garden away from anyone else, reading books on her own. In their first meeting she's polite but quite dismissive - when he leaves, Riki notes that the meeting seems barely to have touched her at all and that as soon as he left she immediately returned to that distant world belonging only to her. However, as they become friends Mio begins to open up and shows a very sweet side to her.
* TaremeEyes
* WhenSheSmiles:
-->'''Mio''': "I'm so glad."
-->'''Riki''': "I am, too."
-->'''Mio''': "...Why?"
-->'''Riki''': "Because I now know you can smile like that."
* YaoiFangirl: Tries to ship Riki/Kyousuke several times, though Riki/one of the ThoseTwoGuys sometimes seem to satisfy her as well. Apparently, Kyousuke as the seme is too boring and predictable, so she switches around the pairings. Riki doesn't get it.
** And she seems [[YuriFan awfully eager]] to get Haruka to call Kurugaya OneeSama.

[[folder:Sasami Sasasegawa]]
: ''Self-Centered Cat Queen''
: '''Sasami Sasasegawa'''
[[quoteright:320:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/character11_main_img_7903.png]]
->Voiced by: Creator/TomoeTamiyasu (game), Creator/SoraTokui (anime)(Japanese), Creator/AllisonSumrall (English)

Captain of the softball club and self-styled rival of Rin. She's very popular with her club and generally has three fangirls following her everywhere, whom she sends in the ring first whenever a fight between her and Rin breaks out. She seems to harbor a crush on Kengo.
----
* AccidentalMisnaming: Rin treats her name as a tongue twister that Rin is horrible at, to Sasami's endless chagrin. Other people (and even herself) get it wrong occasionally, too.
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: She's interested in Kengo, who doesn't seem to reciprocate her feelings, but there is also a male student named Aikawa interested in her, who fails to win Sasami's affection. Although she does become a heroine with her own route in the UpdatedRerelease, the fact that [[spoiler:her route takes place after Refrain implies that the other heroines would have unrequited feelings for Riki. The ending to her route even makes it explicit that Rin, at the very least, would be jealous of Sasami]].
* {{Animorphism}}: In her scenario, [[spoiler:she turns into a cat and can only revert in Riki's room when no one other than her or Riki is (conscious) inside that room.]]
* AnimalMotif: Cats, in case her title didn't clue you in. [[spoiler:She even turns into one in her route]]!
* AscendedExtra
* ConnectedAllAlong: She was friends with Komari before the latter met the Little Busters. Sasami's route [[spoiler:reveals that they are also roommates]].
* GirlishPigtails
* GirlyGirlWithATomboyStreak: Although she's an {{Ojou}} and is generally very girly, she loves softball; she's the captain of the girls' softball team, and the main reason she applied to the school is because of its softball program's good reputation. She is also strong enough to beat Rin in fights that rely on punches and kicks instead of the strange weapons used with the ranking system, at least before Rin's MagikarpPower kicks in. [[spoiler:Even when she's transformed into a cat, she is strong enough to knock out Masato.]]
* HonorBeforeReason: Even though the Little Busters were using the baseball field without permission and stole practice time from the girls' softball team as a result, Sasami keeps quiet when given the chance to expose their actions in Rin's route. When asked later why she kept quiet, she says it's out of respect for Rin beating her in their duel in the common route.
* HopelessSuitor: For Kengo.
* InstantFanclub: Her trio of softball juniors.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Defied in her PetTheDog moment in Rin's route. It's acknowledged that the Little Busters aren't a real club and had no authority to use the baseball field, especially since they were preventing actual clubs like the girls' softball team from getting in any practice of their own if they wanted to use the field. Despite being given an opportunity to expose them, Sasami keeps quiet about their actions.
* LastGirlWins: Her route is the only one that [[spoiler:takes place entirely after the events of Refrain]], while every other heroine's route took place [[spoiler:mostly or entirely before the events of Refrain]].
* LovableAlphaBitch: She's rather arrogant and tends to pick fights with Rin, but she's actually simply both awkward and irritable, which compounds Rin's social cluelessness. She actually wants to be friends.
* LovingAShadow: She comes to this conclusion in her route regarding her feelings for Kengo, thinking what she felt for him was more along the lines of admiration, [[spoiler:and actually feels relieved when Kengo admits he doesn't reciprocate her feelings]].
* TheMindIsAPlaythingOfTheBody: She admits that being turned into a cat has messed up her mind as she's getting more used to it. At one point, when her cat form gets possessed, Riki is genuinely worried that her mind has given in and she became a cat for good.
* NoblewomansLaugh
* {{Ojou}}: Definitely has the speech patterns, hand gestures and mannerisms down, with Riki even comparing her to a princess at one point in his narration. Her route clarifies that she does indeed come from a rich family background.
* {{Open Minded Parent}}s: From what she says about her family, her parents were supportive of her attending a BoardingSchool for its softball program despite it being average in academics, although some of her other family members were against it.
* PassionateSportsGirl: Captain of the girl's softball team. She even tells Riki that the reason she applied to their school was because of its softball program's reputation.
* PetTheDog: In Rin's first route, Rin and Riki need to introduce an administrator to someone from the sports clubs, but can't use Kengo, so they have to go to Sasami. She has the perfect setup to point out the Little Busters have basically kicked out the softball team to practice, but instead gives a perfect summary of the state of the sports clubs. When asked why later, she says it's because Rin managed to get three strikes on her and basically respects that.
* PromotedToLoveInterest
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: She's this for the girls' softball club, and is implied to be the reason her GirlPosse admires her. Unlike her seniors, she doesn't bully or haze the younger club members, and tells Riki that because of her efforts, once the current seniors graduate, the club will no longer have a problem with hazing.
* RepetitiveName: Guess what part of the name. No, really, guess.
* {{Tsundere}}: Non romantic, but the Sasami mini route paints her as being one for Rin. She can be very rude to Rin and appears quite jealous of her popularity, but deep down she respects her and actually kind of likes her. She would like to be friends, but is really bad at talking to her. While this interpretation is more or less clear by the normal content of the routes, the mini route confirms it with both Komari and Kurugaya's declarations.
%%* TsurimeEyes
%%* UnknownRival: To Rin.
* WeWereYourTeam: The bad end to her route implies her GirlPosse would lose interest in softball if she weren't around, as Sasami is the one who was fighting against the hazing and bullying that the younger students have to put up with.
* WorthyOpponent: Sees Rin as one. See PetTheDog above.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: She ends up on both the receiving and giving ends with Riki during her route. She often encourages him and tells him this whenever he ends up doubting himself, while Riki ends up complimenting her so that the stress of [[spoiler:being turned into a cat against her will]] doesn't destroy her self-esteem and confidence.

[[folder:Kanata Futaki]]

: '''Kanata Futaki'''

->Voiced by: Creator/KeikoSuzuki (Japanese), Creator/GenevieveSimmons (English)

The leader of the school's disciplinary committee, Kanata is extremely serious about her work and tends to be very cold with people in general, particularly with Haruka, who is a constant source of trouble for her. Kurugaya seems to be the only one who can intimidate her. She's good friends with "A-chan", the head of dormitory and sometimes help her out with paperwork. If Riki doesn't find Kud a roommate, the position defaults to her when she insists on staying with Kud.
----
* AllWorkVsAllPlay: All Work to Haruka's All Play.
* AscendedExtra: While she was an important minor character and played a major role in Haruka's route, she gets her own route in the Ecstasy expansion.
* BeautyIsNeverTarnished: Played with. [[spoiler:Her arms are heavily scarred from being hit with a belt and, it's implied, burn wounds. However, we never see this because she always wears long sleeves.]]
* BecomingTheMask: She's been acting harsh and distant for so long that it comes naturally to her. In her route, during a date with Riki, you can see her make conscious efforts to temper her speech because she sounds too harsh and distant when she's trying to be friendly.
* BigSisterInstinct: [[spoiler:She'll do anything to protect Haruka. '''Anything.'']]
* BreakHerHeartToSaveHer: [[spoiler:She abuses Haruka as a part of a deal to keep Haruka with her family.]]
* BrokenBird: [[spoiler:Suffers from the same troubled past as her sister, she just hides her emotional issues in a different way.]]
* CharacterTics: She tends to play with her hair when she's nervous or embarrassed.
* FullNameBasis: With everyone. Her tyrannical facade starts to crack when she accidentally addresses [[spoiler:Haruka, her supposed ArchEnemy,]] by only her first name.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: While she's normally a JerkWithAHeartOfGold, she would '''never''' hurt [[spoiler:Haruka]] if she thought she had a choice in the matter.
* IdiotHair
* InsecureLoveInterest: Should Riki confess to her she'll insist that there must be someone he loves more that he should confess to instead. Even when they start dating she'll still think someone as horrible as her doesn't deserve him.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: A real stickler for the rules and rather more aggressive about it than she needs to be, but there are several points where it's shown that she's really not that bad and okay with bending the rules occasionally, such as in Kud's route.
* KickTheDog: In Haruka's route, she [[BreakTheCutie actively tries to break Haruka mentally until]] [[spoiler:her VillainousBreakdown]].
* KnowNothingKnowItAll: In Sasami's route, Riki can ask either Kud or Haruka for romantic advice to help Sasami with Kengo. If the player chooses Haruka, she'll pawn the question off on Kanata, who'll insist that the girl has to be upfront about her feelings, and that if she's too shy to confess, then it wouldn't have worked out in the first place. Haruka then points out that Kanata has never had a boyfriend before and thus has no clue what she's talking about.
* PetTheDog: Despite her insistence on protocol and following the rules, she is shown to have a soft spot for Kud. On several occasions when doing her job she simply chooses not to notice that people are doing things they are not supposed to.
* PlotAllergy: [[spoiler:She has an allergy to citrus fruits, and one of the ways to tell when she's pulling the TwinSwitch is what type of perfume Riki smells. Kanata uses mint perfume, a flavor that Haruka dislikes, while Haruka uses orange perfume, which Kanata couldn't replicate due to her allergy. However, she only reveals this fact after she's been caught pretending to be Haruka]].
* PolarOppositeTwins: [[spoiler:With Haruka.]]
* PromotedToLoveInterest
* RunawayBride: [[spoiler:Her route ends with the Little Busters rescuing her from her ArrangedMarriage.]]
* ScarsAreForever: She has scars all over her arms [[spoiler:from being hit with a belt.]]
* SchrodingersQuestion: After completing Refrain, when you have access to the Ecstasy heroine routes, a new choice is added that has Riki decide if he sees Kanata as hostile or friendly, which impacts her behavior. Thinking she's hostile will lock the player out of her route, and her behavior in the common route will remain the same as it was before completing Refrain. If he sees her as friendly, then she'll [[TookALevelInKindness take a level in kindness]] in her scenes from the common route, and will also have new scenes showing her [[spoiler:getting along with Haruka]].
* ThemeTwinNaming: With [[spoiler:her twin sister Haruka. Their names both mean "far away" or "distant". Their family branches' names are also similar, Futaki meaning two trees, and Saigusa meaning 3 branches]]
* {{Tsundere}}: Straightest example amongst all heroines, although you don't see it much outside her route. [[spoiler:In Haruka's it really bites her in the ass because all Haruka ever sees is her cold, harsh attitude, leading to realistic consequences.]]
** Taking into account the occasional attraction she shows for Riki in Haruka's route and the fact that she has her own route in Ecstasy, it is not difficult to argue that the scenes where she hostilely interrupts him talking to girls like Kud or Komari are more tsundere attitude.
* TwinSwitch: [[spoiler:She does this a few times to Riki in Haruka's route without telling Haruka herself. If you don't catch on to the really obvious hints, you get a bad end.]]

During day times she is simply an extremely popular girl in Riki's class, but at night Saya wanders the school seeking some sort of trouble hidden deep within the labyrinths below the school buildings and fights with shadowy figures whom she refers as "Darkness executives" who prevent her from seeking the treasure, as well as spies from other hostile factions.
----
* AmbiguouslyAbsentParent: [[spoiler:In her past life as Aya, her mom is not around, and even she admits that she doesn't know if it was because she died, or left her dad because she couldn't handle his line of work.]]
* BadassAdorable
* BeneathTheMask: She ''tries'' to be the cool-beauty type heroine, but she's actually the easily embarrassed {{Tsundere}} {{Tomboy}}.
* ButNowIMustGo: [[spoiler:During the end of her route, she expresses this to Riki since she knows about the secret behind the world and that they will never truly be together for real.]]
* DeathIsCheap: [[spoiler:In the Replay segment of her route, the dangers of the Labyrinth is actually fatal and capable of delivering Game Overs, but Saya can "replay" as much as she wants, all with knowledge of what happened in previous replays. In fact, a lot of Game Overs are mandatory for progression.]]
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: You can actually win the fight against Shun Tokikaze aka [[spoiler:[[RealityWarper Kyousuke]]]].
* TheDitz: Kind of unbecoming considering her job. She tends to go in a long-winded self-deprecating speech ending with an EvilLaugh afterwards.
* ForgottenFirstMeeting: [[spoiler:The friend she played with as a child when she was living in Japan was Riki, implied to be before his parents died]].
* FriendlessBackground: In her past life, [[spoiler:she used to travel a lot around different places with her father who is a doctor]]. Due to this, she wasn't able to make any close friends.
* GirlishPigtails: Most of her hair is tied up into twintails. It's one of her stereotypical {{Tsundere}} traits.
* GunsAkimbo: When she's serious.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: She tends to go into long-winded rants against herself whenever she messes something up, followed by an EvilLaugh. Riki even narrates that her tendency to do this puts Masato to shame.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: She spent the majority of her life with her father [[spoiler:traveling to third-world countries and providing medical care to the locals]]. She only lived in Japan for a short time as a kid, then moved back to Japan over a decade later when her dad retired, [[spoiler:only to be crushed in a construction accident. She was able to enter the world created by Kyousuke and the others because she had such a strong desire for a normal life]].
* InterfaceSpoiler: [[spoiler:If you save the game during the segment between the common route and the Replay segment of Saya's route, it will show her real name is Aya, even though the name Aya doesn't get mentioned in that segment]].
* LastGirlWins: In a meta-sense, she would be the last girl since she's the only Ecstasy heroine who isn't an AscendedExtra from the original visual novel. However, [[spoiler:her route ends with her being kicked out of the artificial world and [[StarCrossedLovers being unable to stay with Riki]]. She's also revealed to be a ForgottenChildhoodFriend from Riki's past, which would make her a case of FirstGirlAfterAll if they met before he knew the original four Little Busters, which is implied to be the case since her narration in the epilogue of her route only mentions Riki]].
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: She slides some narrative lingo into her descriptions, most likely because she's [[spoiler:roleplaying a manga character]]. She recognizes Riki as the protagonist, herself as the heroine, and even tells him that her route [[spoiler:has no happy ending]].
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: [[spoiler:Her name is Aya, not Saya. It's implied Saya is the ''[[ShowWithinAShow School Revolution]]'' heroine Aya was trying to roleplay.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue oni to Rin's red oni.
* SayingTooMuch: Riki really doesn't need to know she's still a virgin.
* SpannerInTheWorks: [[spoiler:To Kyousuke.]]
* StarCrossedLovers: [[spoiler:There is no good ending to her route. She dies at the end of her route, though she at least dies happy.]]
* TheStoic: Most of the time. Especially, when she's serious.
** NotSoStoic: She has her share of moments of being this.
* TooDumbToLive: You can send her into traps as many times as you'd like. She even {{Lampshades}} that what she's doing is beyond stupid but she can't stop.
* TooKinkyToTorture: [[spoiler:Get her killed enough times in her route and she'll awaken to her masochist tendencies.]] She can even kill Shun Tokikaze in this mode!

Kojiro is Komari's grandfather, who was married to a woman named Komari himself, though she is deceased. Kojiro remarks that Komari is remarkably similar to his late wife. He harbors some respect for Riki because of the way he stands up for himself.
----

* GrumpyOldMan: He yells at anyone who walks through the door with an exaggerated ScreenShake, and claims to hate women and children.
* HistoryRepeats: We discover in Komari's route that Kojiro was once in the same position as Riki, with Komari's grandmother. It didn't end well, and he warns Riki to not make the same mistakes.
* MirrorCharacter: He sees himself as pretty similar to Riki, given that in the past he experienced a situation similar to what Riki faces in Komari's route. [[spoiler:When Kojiro's older brother died, he decided to serve as his brother's substitute so that Komari (his wife, not his granddaughter) wouldn't feel depressed, as she loved Kojiro's brother]]. Kojiro is what Riki could've ended up like if he made the choices that led to the bad end of Komari's route and [[spoiler:decided to let Komari treat him as a ReplacementGoldfish for Takuya]].
* MrExposition: [[spoiler: His main role is to explain what/how/when happened to Komari and how [[HistoryRepeats story is repeating itself.]]]]
* SatelliteCharacter: His entire point is to give backstory to Komari.

* {{Gaslighting}}: Her primary offence against Riki. After all, if his memories could be altered so easily doesn't it stand to reason that he could be mistaken about [[spoiler:Mio's disappearance]]?
