[[folder: Squirrely]]
!!Squirrely (aka Squire Lee)
[[quoteright:178:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/squirrely.jpg]]

A chimp [[AllThereInTheManual formerly used as a military research subject,]] who wound up being adopted by Weird Pete. He seems to have a solid grasp of spoken English, the ability to read and operate a cash register (although he's never mastered the art of making change), and has even sat in on games. He's a chain-smoker with a wide mean streak. Several characters have suffered AmusingInjuries as a result of crossing him.
----

* BerserkButton: He has several, but they seem to change over time.
* HeroicComedicSociopath:
--> '''Pete:''' He stole Stevil's wallet and inhaler and crawled into the heating duct.
--> '''Gordo:''' Stevil didn't crawl in after him, did he? I tried that once and he stole my glasses and gave me a reverse wedgie.
--> '''Pete:''' Nah, he's trying to flush him out with the fire extinguisher.
* TheUnintelligible: Though able to understand English very well, Squirrely only speaks in ape noises.
** Lampshaded when Weird Pete - and to a lesser extent, Dave and Gordo - seem to get the gist of everything Squirrely attempts to communicate. Gordo even manages to understand him well enough to successfully play "I Spy" with him.
* NearlyNormalAnimal: Chimps are already pretty humanlike, but Squirrely takes it to the next level.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: A chimp tending the cash register at your local game store? No big deal.

[[folder: Croix and Hunter]]
!!Croix and Hunter
Bob's Niece and Nephew respectively. Bob occasionally tries to run games for them and sometimes has to borrow Croix's laptop to play World of Hackcraft. Croix has an innocent crush on Dave.
----

* PrecociousCrush: Croix has a crush on Dave. She's probably ten. It makes him a little uncomfortable.

[[folder: Ty Ferfel]]
!! Ty Ferfel
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ty_ferfel.jpg]]

Nitro's nephew. A young gamer that hangs out on the periphery of the community and is often involved in under the table dealings.
----

* ConsummateProfessional: He actually is this regards to gaming and is so to the point of being paid as a temp.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: He does a lot of his gaming to supplement his allowance.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Earl Slackmozer]]
!! Earl Slackmozer
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/earl_julius_slackmozer.jpg]]

A rival gamemaster who gets a lot of buzz when he first comes to town, having had a module published by Hard 8 (something B.A. has long tried and failed). At first seems to be the superstar but eventually loses his shine and after being humbled, he and B.A. become friends. Earl currently works at Weird Pete's shop.
----

* TheAce: At first, in relation to B.A.. Earl is a Gamemaster in high demand and the Knights threaten to leave B.A. for him.
* KnowNothingKNowItAll: It turns out that Earl is actually quite bad at gamemastering as he hosts an event at GaryCon that turns out to be a bunch of people gathered around a dinner table with no dice rolling or combat. It ends up in a riot.
* OutOfFocus: He still has a gaming group in Muncie, but he hasn't featured in any stories to speak of for a while.
* TheRival: BA and he used to be this but BA won the allegiance of the gaming community handsomely.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Earl wrote a published Hackmaster supplement and has acted like he's the biggest deal in Muncie's gaming community ever since. BA has since equalled that accomplishment.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Switch]]
!! Switch
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/switch_8.jpg]]

Martin "Switch" Wucjik is Crutch's "friend" and former partner in crime before Crutch went straight. Switch is still a criminal and shown to be disloyal, self serving, and a jerk. He'll commit a crime then sell out his friends for reduced sentences. He's the one who gets Bob to help him plan his heists [[AndYouThoughtItWasAGame letting Bob believe it was for a roleplaying game]].
----

* AndYouThoughtItWasAGame: After Bob stumbles on Switch planning a heist and mistakes it for a gaming session, Switch plays along and picks his brain for useful tips.
* AndYouThoughtItWasReal: When Switch stumbles on Tank giving Crutch pointers on gamemastering and overhears casual comments about slitting throats and attacking people with flaming oil, he backs away and [[INeedAFreakingDrink heads for the bar]], thinking that Crutch has fallen in with some [[AxCrazy stone-cold psycho]].
* TheStoolPigeon: After getting caught at the scene of a heist, he gives up Weird Pete (who had filled in for Bob as "game session consultant") to save his own neck. The only reason he doesn't give up Bob is that Bob was too useful to lose.
* TooCleverByHalf: Bob's gaming experience and commitment to roleplaying thieves certainly gives him a good mindset for planning heists but Switch was pushing his luck continuing to rely on Bob. Switch must [[GenreSavvy not be savvy about games]] the way Bob is.

[[folder: Cody Winkle]]
!! Cody Winkle
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cody_12.jpg]]

Seen at a number of game tables but has never fit in with a group... not even the Black Hands. He's a local actor who likes to use his acting skills at the table and is known for his commitment to story and characterization over game play.
----

* AllLoveIsUnrequited: His fondness for Patty is completely one-sided and he is deeply annoyed to find out she has a boyfriend.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: {{Subverted}}. His commitment to acting and roleplay do very little to get anyone to have fun.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: No one actually seems to like Cody but they tolerate him when they're down a player.
* HopelessSuitor: Is deeply enamored of Patty but she finds him deeply annoying and the attention unwelcome.
* {{Jerkass}}: Smokes around his fellow players, ignores their input, and hits on Patty continuously in front of her boyfriend (BA).
* ThePrimadonna: Uses roleplaying as an excuse to act in-character and always attempts to make himself the star.
* TheRoleplayer: Carried to an extreme that makes him intolerable!
* TalkingToThemself: Not in the usual way. His elf bard, Raphael Hoolizar, inherited a brownie familiar (and hand puppet) named Hodgy from Brian.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Bob's Father]]
!! Bob Herzog, Senior

Bob's father, occasionally referenced offscreen as an obstacle to Bob's gaming before finally appearing in the comic.
----

* AbusiveParents: Sheila comes to believe Papa Herzog is this after actually meeting him and seeing how he verbally abused Bob.
* FantasyForbiddingFather: Bob Sr. is a classic example of this, doing his best to try to discourage or outright forbid Bob from gaming.
* FreudianExcuse: Bob Sr. had to raise two children by himself after his wife abandoned the family.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Most of his criticisms of Bob Junior (as well as the rest of the Knights) are spot on but the way he goes about them only results in destroying his son's self-esteem.
* ToughLove: Forbids Bob from gaming because he considers it a bad influence, but relents after Bob gets a job. When Bob loses that job because he gets caught [[PlayingSick malingering]] once too often, he throws Bob out of the house. Once he appears on panel and we see things from his point of view, it's clear that he does care (for instance, he slips Weird Pete some money to give Bob as a "bonus", on condition that he not tell where it came from), and considers it the only way to get Bob to take some responsibility.
* WhatTheHellHero: After getting into a game of Cattlepunk (after losing a bet with Weird Pete), he objects to the other players' ComedicSociopathy -- his impression was that the characters were supposed to be larger-than-life Western ''heroes'', not lowlife bushwackers:
-->'''Mr. Herzog:''' Ever see [[Creator/JohnWayne the Duke]] shoot a man in the face? ''Ever?!!'' And without so much as a ''word'' of warning? I don't ''think'' so.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Asa Poverly McFarland]]
!! Asa Poverly [=McFarland=]
A Grognard old school gamemaster who is famed in-universe.
----

* BeenThereShapedHistory: Was one of the original players of Hackmaster at Gary Jackson's table but wasn't a member of Hard Eight.
* FamedInStory: Zig-Zagged. He's famous among longtime fans of Hackmaster and people pay to be part of his games but he's only known to the most die-hard fans of the game.
* LoopholeAbuse: He has a few powers that were grandfathered in for him as an original Hackmaster player and Gamemaster. These include the ability to resurrect any character that has died in official Hackmaster games. He can only do it a few times every year, though, according to him.
* OldMaster: Is a fantastic "old school" Gamemaster who prefers working in his own way, not even using dice but chits.
* ThePrimadonna: Weird Pete has this impression of Asa due to his insistence on not having his games streamed or having audiences. Also, insisting on that he be given a cooler full of Gus as his conditions for running games.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Despite his terrifying reputation, he's actually probably the most reasonable and talented Gamemaster that has ever run a game in the comic's history. He encourages but challenges the players while being tough but fair.
* SecretTest: His entire campaign is built on these as each of the challenges the players face are ones that ones designed to test their morality more than their dice rolling or stats.
* TechnicianVersusPerformer: Is definitely more of a performer than a technician. He likes to keep the rules lawyering to a minimum and focus more on the roleplay element. His knowledge of the game is good enough that not even Brian has any complaints, though.
