[[folder:Main Cast]]
!Raiden "Ray" Pierce-Okamoto
-->Voiced by: Scott Wolf

->''"I know Grandpa, 'Bob and Weave' -- a moving target is harder to hit."''
[[quoteright:156:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Ray_Pierce-Okamoto_2154.jpg]]

The main hero of our story, Ray's a good-natured kid and a talented sketch artist, if a bit of a daydreamer. This nature doesn't lead to him making many 'normal' friends, but does make him subject for bullying. Once a string of fateful events leads to him discovering the art and world of Kaijudo, it's not long before all his latent potential starts unveiling itself.
----
* TheAce: As the names of the first three episodes imply, Ray turns out to be a natural for Kaijudo. He himself feels like he belongs with the art. Not only does he catch on to the ways of said art, like quickly picking up perfect gateway summoning stances and perfect creature control, he also summons Tatsurion the Unchained, a powerful hybrid creature, after only a two second glance at his tablet. Certain creatures seem to take a shining to him as well. It turns out [[spoiler:his mom's a former Kaijudo practitioner, his father was Suguru a.k.a. Ken Okamoto, and he was born in the Creature Realm]].
* AchievementsInIgnorance: Being a talented sketch artist for his age, he managed to draw a "tablet" depicting a Rumbling Terrasuar perfectly, even though he'd never seen one before. [[spoiler:Though we later learn he ''had'' seen one before when he was a baby in the Creature Realm with his parents; he even bonded with it]]. In a pinch with the bullies, he even correctly "made up" the creature's name, summoning it and scaring the bullies (and him and his friends) away.
* AnimeHair: Toned down. He has a normal haircut, but part of his hair is red while the other is black.
* TheBeastMaster: [[spoiler:Being born in the creature realm allows him to tame creatures far easier than others]].
* BewareTheNiceOnes: He is a nice, gentle kid, but he can be quite mischievous and aggressive when driven mad. Best examples being Carny or [[spoiler:with Saguru's betrayal]].
* GuileHero: Displays shades of it. He actually succeeds in [[OutGambit out gambitting]] ''The Choten'' at some point.
%%* TheHero
%%* HeroProtagonist
* HotBlooded: Ray is usually pretty calm and level-headed, except in a fight where his hotblooded tendencies begin to crop up.
* IndyPloy: All the time.
%%* TheKirk
* MidSeasonUpgrade: [[spoiler:His gauntlet gets upgraded by the Fire Civilization Monarch in ''The Siphon'']].
* MoralityPet: He sort of becomes one to [[spoiler:Alakshmi]] in season 2 after saving her from the Fire Civilization.
* NiceGuy: Definitely a stand up guy; his mom notes that he can't bare to see injustice stand, just like his father. Still, best not to prod him ''too'' much.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler:Thanks to his single-minded thought process in "Bargain" he winds up handing over the Spell of Liquid Compulsion to The Choten]].
%%* TheProtagonist

!!Tatsurion the Unchained / Bob
-->Voiced by: Creator/DavidSobolov

->''"''You'' may call me Bob."''
[[quoteright:324:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Tatsurion-Bob_7943.jpg]]

Tatsurion, a half Nature Civilization Beast-Kin and half Fire Civilization Dragon hybrid creature, has lived a tough life which has made him into the strong and cynical warrior he is today. When first summoned by Ray, he is understandably upset with the whole affair, but it's not long before Ray's straightforward and earnest personality gets through his tough "outer shell", revealing a pretty stand up guy underneath. He and Ray turn out to have more in common then you'd think.

Tatsurion got the nickname 'Bob' from 'Bob and Weave' when Ray tried to stress to him to dodge more often, and it just kinda stuck.

* BerserkButton: He doesn't react well to parents, especially fathers, mistreating their sons.
* TheBigGuy: And surprisingly, rather {{gentle|Giant}} too, once you get by the gruff exterior.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler:Inflicted to him through evolution serum and a control collar by The Choten. He gets better, thanks to Ray.]]
* BreathWeapon: [[spoiler:Gains the ability to breathe fire after getting hit with The Choten's evolution serum.]]
* ChainPain: Uses his chains as a whip and a means to restrain his opponents. He's called Tatsurion the ''Unchained'' for a reason. [[spoiler:He got them when he was chained up to be executed and escaped with the chains still on him.]]
* TheComicallySerious: He laughs exactly ''once''.
* DeadpanSnarker: He certainly has his moments.
* DefrostingIceKing: Ironically.
* EmbarrassingNickname: Bare Bottom, his name among his mother's family. He initially also disliked being called Bob, but he ends up enjoying it.
%%* FierySalamander
* {{Flight}}: Gains some spiffy new Dragon Wings, to go with his new fire breath.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: At a first glance, he appears aggressive, seemingly always angry. Yet, he is actually ''much'' nicer than he lets on.
* IAmNotMyFather: He utterly ''detests'' being compared to his father Napalmeon.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Well, half-dragon.
%%* HotBlooded
* MoreDakka: He has various firearms hidden on him. He usually prefers using them as a last resort however.
* OurNudityIsDifferent: Sorta spends a good deal of the first three Episodes of the Second Season without his armor & weapons, leaving him completely nude, yet no one took any note of it; plus he accidentally flaunted it unknowingly.
* PantsFree: Usually doesn't wear them.
* ParentalNeglect: On the dragon side of his family, due to his half-breed status. His father pretty much ignored his existence.
* PlayingWithFire: Initially he could only ignite his head for flame charged tackles. Now he has full blown fire breath.
* ReptilesAreAbhorrent: Averted; he is part reptilian, but he is very much a good guy.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Noted by his mother, Headstrong Wanderer, when she remarks that his wings makes him look just like his father, Napalmeon the Conquering. He replies that [[IAmNotMyFather he is not his father]].
* {{Tsundere}}: Non-romantic example toward Ray and the Quillspike side of his family.
* WellDoneSonGuy: This is something he has in common with Carny no less.

!Gabriel "Gabe" Wallace
-->Voiced by: Creator/PhilLaMarr

->''"Actually, argiope trifasciata isn't harmful to most people and incidentally, without spiders, insects would overrun the world, but you wouldn't know that, [[SesquipedalianLoquaciousness ignoramus maximus]]. ...[[DidIJustSayThatOutLoud Did I just say that out loud?]]"''
[[quoteright:213:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Gabe_Wallace_5093.jpg]]

A very intelligent, analytical, and logical young man and one of Ray's friends. He met Ray at a gamer's convention where he beat him in a tournament of some sort and they became fast friends. Similar to Ray, his overall personality doesn't allow him to make friends easily, though this doesn't really concern him much being a self-proclaimed nerd and all. He discovers Kaijudo alongside Ray and Allie. Said discovery may lead to him thinking about things that he never would have concerned himself with, thus changing his overall outlook.

* BatmanGambit: Rather good at these.
* BlackAndNerdy: Self-proclaimed nerd at that.
* CannotTalkToWomen: He turns into a nervous mess when needing to associate with girls his age other than Allie.
* ComicalOverreacting: Has freaked out on occasion.
** Apparently he's also been [[TheComicallySerious surprisingly dull]] at times.
*** And there was that one time when [[MinorInjuryOverreaction he thought he'd exposed to deadly poison that turned to be from the Non-Fatal Stringing Nettle.]]
* CowardlyLion: Most noticeable when his friends, brothers, or Sasha are in danger.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: The above quote Gabe utters in the first episode says quite a bit about his character.
* FatBestFriend: The shy variety.
* HeroicBSOD: His reaction when finding out [[spoiler:Sasha was apparently dead from losing the Heart of Light.]]
* InterspeciesRomance: He has a strong crush on Sasha.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: To Sasha. When she goes berserk, just thinking about him can calm her down.
* MotorMouth: Has a tendency to ramble at times and also stutters when he's nervous.
* OnlySaneMan: He's this in spades.
* ScienceHero: Many of his victories come from strategic thinking and teaming up with Gargle to invent some crazy gadget.
* TheSmartGuy: Takes pride in using his brain to get by in life.
* SesquipedalianLoquaciousness: Often to Allie's frustration.
* TheSpock: Definitely the logic man of the group, or at least he tries to be. A few episodes dive into this and explain that sometimes the logical route isn't the best route.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Allie.

!!Reef Prince Glu-urrgle / Gargle
-->Voiced by: Creator/DeeBradleyBaker

->''"Hey! What up G-abriel?"''
[[quoteright:192:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Reef_Prince_Gargle_886.jpg]]

A Water Civilization creature and heir to the Water Capital throne (but so far displaced that it doesn't really matter). When the Masters assigns the group water creatures, Master Nadia summons the Reef Prince for Gabe. They didn't get along at all at first until Gabe opened up to him and began listening to Gargle's advice. After which, they became pretty close, with Gabe summoning him anytime the gang needs something invented to help with their current situation.

He gained the nickname 'Gargle' from Allie who said he looks like a spit cup at the dentist. Tellingly, he's not particularly fond of her.

%%* BadassBookworm
* [[ClingyJealousGirl Clingy Jealous Guy]]: Show shades of this in ''Heavenly Creatures'' when Gabe summons him for the first time in a while.
-->'''Gargle:''' Humph! Call Gargle for tech support. Call Angel Command for chat mode!
* CloudCuckoolander: His super-inquisitive nature makes him come off as this. His use of internet slang further adds to this.
%%* CuriousAsAMonkey
* TheExile: Becomes this in "The King's Speech" after a Choten-controlled King Tritonus banishes him from the Water Civilization.
* {{Expy}}: Of [[WesternAnimation/InvaderZim Gir]].
* GadgeteerGenius: Glu-urrgle isn't exactly impressive as a fighter, but he has the ability to create any kind of machine, weaponry, or vehicle from any scrap that is around. In a few ''seconds''.
* LeetLingo: Since he learned English from the internet via Gabe's smart phone, he oftentimes talks like this.
%%* MakingASplash
* MesACrowd: The Evolution Spell splits him into five [[FunSize mini-versions of himself]].
* MyFriendsAndZoidberg: Doesn't really consider Allie a friend.
-->'''Gargle:''' Gargle has airsuits for friends. Friend G-abriel. Friend Ray. Friend Squeaky. Err...Allie?
%%* PlayfulHacker
%%* PsychicPowers
%%** {{Telepathy}}
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething
-->'''Gargle:''' Gargle is Reef Prince.
* ScienceHero: The Water Civilizations' hat, but Gargle is especially adept at using his smarts to win fights.
* WarriorPrince: He is actually part of the Princes of the Water Civilization though, not strictly a fighter.

!!Sasha, Channeler of Light
-->Voiced by: Creator/KariWahlgren

->''"''You'' do not command me. I am a Princess of the Light Civilization."''
[[quoteright:270:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Sasha_Channeler_of_Light_9548.jpg]]

One day, when the gang are studying Darkness creatures, Gabe decides to study up on their anti-thesis -- Light creatures, first and foremost being Angel Command, their ruling class. Later, when in a tough spot, Gabe decides to summon one. The one being Sasha, Channeler of Light. This Light Civilization Princess only came through the portal out of curiosity, and though rather stand-offish, she eventually helps with the problem at hand. She returns later on a mission from the Light Civilization to study the earth and its people, deciding to use Gabe as a chaperone. Under the guise of a foreign exchange student, she learns a few of the nice things in life on Gabe's side of the veil...as well as the not so nice.

* BerserkButton: Trying to command Light creatures to attack their rulers.
** And, on a more humorous note, paradoxes.
* CannotTellALie: The Light Civilization Creatures are unable to lie, and Sasha isn't an exception to this rule.
* DefrostingIceQueen: As she learns more about humans and their emotions, she becomes more receptive to Gabe and the others.
* DisneyDeath: [[spoiler:When Saguru takes the Heart of Light from Sasha, she ceases to function and is presumed dead. She later comes back to life when the Heart is recovered and Gargle reinserts it into Sasha.]]
* DoomedHomeTown: [[spoiler:The Keep she lived in was destroyed by The Choten's minions after Gabe and the others rescued her.]]
* FishOutOfWater: When she's disguised as a human.
%%* GlowingEyes
* HolographicDisguise: Can use light to disguise herself as a human.
%%* InnocentlyInsensitive
* KidsAreCruel[=/=]TeensAreMonsters: During her visit to San Campion High, she was unfortunate enough to experience the darker side of things and almost snaps.
* LargeHam: Not normally, but she can be quite dramatic with her words on occasion.
%%* LightEmUp
* MacGuffinSuperPerson: [[spoiler:In season 1, she holds the Light Civilization artifact, the Heart of Light, inside of her as her power source. By season 2, though, she has been provided with a new power source and given back the Heart to Eternal Haven.]]
%%* NoSocialSkills
* OurAngelsAreDifferent: They're robotic.
* RobotGirl: Whom, predictably or not, Gabe has a crush on.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: Was sent out on a mission to earth to learn about it and its people, and when her home is under attack, she proclaims she will stay and defend is to the last, though Gabe talks her out of it in the end.
* TheSixthRanger: The closest you'd get to one to the trio in season one.
* WingedHumanoid: Can extend mechanical wings from her back.
-->'''Gabe:'''(in awe) Of course you have wings.

!Alison "Allie" Underhill
-->Voiced by: Creator/KariWahlgren

->''"Earth to Ray. Are you actually zenning out or in shock? Because I'm in SHOCK!"''
[[quoteright:168:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Allie_Underhill_8277.jpg]]

Ray's other friend, the two have known each other since childhood. Since Allie's dad is the manager of a San Campion bank, her family is pretty well off. Despite having all the qualifications of a spoiled [[RichBitch rich girl]] and occasionally slipping into the mindset (including having two [[AlphaBitch mean]] [[ThoseTwoGuys girls]] she sometimes hangs with) she's actually pretty nice and kindhearted, even if she has a bit of dark side [[spoiler:that stems from her mommy issues.]] She has no problem with and is often seen hanging out with Ray and Gabe, though she will often snark at Gabe when he frustrates her. Like Gabe, she starts out "out of her groove", but eventually finds her place, and her affinity for Darkness Creatures, upon finding her main partner Squeaky.

* ActionGirl : She fights her ennemies by summoning creatures and she's able to single-handedly beat Alashmi.
* BadassInDistress: [[spoiler:When captured by Megaria. [[RescueReversal She ends up being the one saving the ones who came to rescue ''her''.]]]]
* ChildhoodFriend: With Ray.
* CombatPragmatist: As befitting the "way of Darkness," she is very quick to use trickery and stealth to get out of a bind.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Probably exemplifies this the most among Darkness creatures and users.
* DeadpanSnarker: Probably the most snarky of the trio.
* DamselInDistress: Briefly, when she was trapped in the Fire Civilization. At least she did try to get away on her own. More than once in fact.
* DrunkOnTheDarkSide: [[spoiler:Under the polluting influence of the Cloak of Dark Illusions.]]
* EvilCostumeSwitch: [[spoiler:During her brief imprisonment under Megaria, the Collector]].
* GuileHero: [[spoiler:Proves to be a remarkably good one when dealing with Megaria. And later The Choten.]]
* GoodCounterpart: To Alakshmi.
* HalfHumanHybrid: [[ImpliedTrope Not-so subtly implied]] in Season 2 Episodes 12 and 13 that [[spoiler: Megaria may not just be playacting the role of her mother after all. It would certainly explain Allie's natural affiliation for the Darkness element, the Cloak of Dark Illusion's attachment towards her, and her mother's mysterious disappearance.]]
* HeIsNotMyBoyfriend: With Ray. It seems she was initially sincere, but they do get some ShipTease later.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: One could say she's this is in regards to Portia and Maribel. That, or willfully ignorant.
** Ray points that out in "Cease Fire".
* TheLancer: To Ray.
* LittleMissBadass : She's 14 and can fight alone.
* LivingShadow: While under the Cloak of Dark Illusion's influence in Season 2 her shadow morphs into a fanged, tentacled monstrosity and eats Portia's shadow. It later detaches from her to attack Sykes and Nickles.
* LonelyRichKid: {{Subverted}}, [[spoiler:despite her mommy issues,]] she could use her general popularity to get any friend she'd want, but still sticks with Ray, Gabe, and later Lucy.
%%* TheMcCoy
* MissingMom: She and Ray each growing up with only one parent is how they became such good friends. Later episodes hint, [[spoiler:then confirm, that Allie's mom Piper ran away. Her dad, Artie, pines for her return and even named his boat after her, taking care of it lovingly.]]
* TheNicknamer: With the exception of Bob and Shaw K'Naw, she is the one nicknaming all the creatures.
%%* PluckyGirl
* SaveTheVillain: She makes it no secret she thinks this is a terrible idea. She was proven right.
* ShipTease: It was hinted that she likes Ray in ''Into the Void''.
* SlumberParty: Has one in ''Night Moves'' with Portia, Maribel, and Lucy with the hopes the former two can learn to get along with latter. Unfortunately for her, "Sleepovers do not fix all", and the whole thing just goes from [[FromBadToWorse bad to worse]].
* SpoiledSweet: Her father is rich, and she is shown to be friends (or at least have been friends; later episode show they don't get along well anymore) with at least two {{Alpha Bitch}}s. Yet, she is an extremely nice person and friends with both Ray and Gabe, and tries hard to help Sasha's blending-in when she comes to visit the human world.
* TokenGirl: Of the trio. Possibly subverted if you count Sasha later on.
* {{Tsundere}}: Type B. This got exaggerated with Ray in the second season.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Gabe and later, Ray in Season 2.
* {{Yandere}}: Unconsciously toward Ray when under the effect of the Dark Cloak of Illusion.

!!Scaradorable of Gloom Hollow / Squeaky
->''"Squeak."''
[[quoteright:248:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Scaradorable-Squeaky_4052.jpg]]

A rather adorable Koala-looking Darkness creature who doesn't show up until halfway into episode 6, ''Into the Fire, Part 1''. She was somehow captured by the Fire Civilization and was being prepared as Lord Skycrusher's meal when a captured Allie happened upon her. They bonded right away, and once rescued, Allie was determined not to leave the newly dubbed Squeaky behind. After the ordeal, Squeaky became Allie's creature partner. She's the only one of the trio's creature partners that can't speak English, instead communicating in squeaks, hence her nickname.

* BadassAdorable: Right there in the name. Though she's only adorable in her standard form.
* BodyHorror: When Squeaky turns into her 'other' form, she's actually turning herself inside-out.
%%* CastingAShadow
* CreepyGood: Definitely a highlight for Allie.
* CuddleBug: Really likes hugging people, especially Allie.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Despite being a Darkness creature with a quite creepy OneWingedAngel form, Squeaky is a very nice creature.
* [[ForgotAboutHisPowers Forgot About Her Powers]]: She hasn't used her GameFace / OneWingedAngel ability for a very large part of season 2.
* GameFace: Along with the rest of her kind, can change from [[http://kaijudo.wikia.com/wiki/Scaradorable_of_Gloom_Hollow this]] to ''[[http://kaijudo.wikia.com/wiki/Dark_Scaradorable this.]]''
* MakeMeWannaShout: Her go-to attack is a high-frequency shriek.
* MeaningfulName: "Scaradorable". She can be both scary and adorable.
* OddballDoppelganger: The Evolution Spell turns her into a partial copy of a nearby creature, giving her their abilities as well.
* OneWingedAngel: Her regular form looks like a big cute koala-like creature, but she can suddenly turn into a tall, black, [[Franchise/{{Alien}} Xenomorph]]-like being.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: In her regular form. She also has the ability to mesmerize others with her cuteness as a distraction.
* TeamPet: Is the most 'pet like' of the trio's creature partners.
** PetMonstrosity: In her 'other' form.
* TheWorfEffect: Sadly tends to happen to her quite often. It doesn't help [[ForgotAboutHerPowers Allie seems to have forgotten about her alternate form.]]

[[folder:The Masters]]

!Master Hector Chavez
-->Voiced by: Freddy Rodriguez

->''"Welcome to The Temple of the Kaijudo Duel Masters."''
[[quoteright:157:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Hector_Chavez_351.jpg]]

Hector Chavez, the Fire Civilization's Duel Master, is the first Duel Master Ray, Gabe, and Allie meet. After following Ray and the others to Allie's house to return Ray's sketchbook and question him on the summoned Terrasuar, it isn't long before a looming threat necessitates Chavez to whisk the kids away to the Creature Realm. After a good scare, Chavez decides to bring them into his order.

Out of all the Duel Masters, he is the most reasonable and compassionate of the bunch, alongside Kimora; he even gives Ray one last chance to convince his friends to join and try harder at being an acolyte, and he can often be found arguing on Ray and his friends behalf.

* CharacterDevelopment: Throughout the first season, Ray's positive influence makes a change in Chavez, and in fact all the Duel Masters. Though a more reasonable person then most, he still held the general belief of a Kaijudo practitioner like not touching creature. He softens to these things considerably as time went on. Jaha at one point state that Ray "is a bad influence on you" to Chavez.
%%* DashingHispanic
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: He is the first character introduced in the show, with a scene where he summons Gigaflame and uses him to defeat a creature. Most importantly, this serves as the scene that introduces the very concept of Kaijudo.
* InTheHood: When we first see him, though he generally doesn't wear it up.
* TheLancer: Among the Duel Masters, he is the most likely to challenge and appose Nigel's opinion and has called him out on things more than once. Also, he is a pretty nice guy and close to the kids, in contrast with Nigel's jerkassery.
* TheMentor: To the kids; they all have this role in a way, sure, but he is the first they meet, the first to get close to them, and by far the one who is the most friendly for most of the series.
* MrExposition: In the Pilot.
* OfficialCouple: With [[spoiler:Nadia]] come season one's end.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: He's the one who saw the potential in Ray, he was the one who listened to Ray when he asked to be given another chance to convince his friends to try harder in joining the order, and he also argued in favor of Ray joining in spite of Nigel and Nadia's doubts, bringing up the possibility that the ''Kaijudo way'' could be in need of change.
* RedOniBlueOni: Red to Nigel's Blue.
* ShipTease: With Master Nadia throughout the first season. Notable because romance between members of the order is against the rules. [[spoiler: Becomes an official couple with her in season one's finale, with Jaha's kinda-sorta backhanded blessing, too.]]

!!Gilaflame the Assaulter
[[quoteright:209:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_gilaflame_the_assaulter_9261_504.jpg]]

* BladeBelowTheShoulder: His trademark weapons.
%%* FierySalamander
* FragileSpeedster: Gilaflame is fast, but give him one good hit and he's usually down for the count. Mostly noticeable when he's cornered and can't dodge.
* LanguageBarrier: While he and Hector work well together, they cannot communicate, as humans are unable to speak Gilaflame's language and vice versa.
%%* LizardFolk
* MultiArmedAndDangerous: When evolved.
* PlayingWithFire: Fire appears from his [[BladeBelowTheShoulder blades below his shoulders]] when he trails them across the ground.
* ReptilesAreAbhorrent: Averted; he is a lizard-man, but pretty much a good guy.
* TheSpeechless: A trait most of the Duel Masters' creatures share.
** SuddenlyVoiced[=/=]TheUnintelligible: As shows during "The Butterfly Effect" he ''can'' speak. But only Drakon, a language Chavez doesn't know.
-->'''Chavez:''' Until now I didn't even know he ''could'' speak!
* TheStoic: Doesn't really have much reactions outside of battle.
* TrueCompanions: Seems to be his relationship with Hector; despite the rule to never touch or befriend the creatures, both seem to have a strong respect for each other, judging by the way they bow to each other in the pilot, and he mentions that Gigaflame always answers his call.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Master Chavez. [[spoiler:Proven when he's able to resist Alakshmi's command to kill him long enough to break the collar controlling Mighty Shouter, who is able to save them.]]

!Master Nadia Lobachevsky
-->Voiced by: Creator/GreyDeLisle

->''"I am the keeper of the Order's history and knowledge. I wasn't aware we had begun giving tours to children."''
[[quoteright:100:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_nadia_lobachevsky_207_1311.jpg]]

As the Water Civilization Master, Nadia is the logical one. She has a tendency to speak frankly about a situation and so comes off on blunt side. Next to Nigel, she is the most antagonistic to the acolytes and also was opposed to them joining. Even after the kids help them out early on, she only compliments there "promise" after pointing out their lack of "technique and talent". That being said, her logical mind is what leads her to trust and have faith in the kids due to their continued successes.

* BadassLongCoat: A knee length leather duster coat.
* CharacterDevelopment: She goes from being just as skeptical as Nigel about the kids to warming up to them as their methods continue to provide positive results.
** She even seems to.grow out of the idea of touching Creatures being a bad thing, as she can be seen casually petting Rusalka.
* DefrostingIceQueen: In her first appearances, she was rather cold and just doing her duties without any reserves. She does displays concern however when she [[spoiler:comes to save the kids from the Water Civilization]]. After that, she gradually warms up on them.
%%* HellBentForLeather
* IronicEcho: A slight variation on her early line towards the kids about lacking talent and technique but having promise is echoed by Alakshmi [[spoiler:when she's training Carny.]]
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: She doesn't start out like this despite being the "Logical Duel Master", but after the kids prove themselves again and again, she eventually grows into this. She even points out to Nigel how the kids' way of befriending creatures has lead them to form strong ties, like with Light Civilization royalty.
* [[TheSmartGuy The Smart Girl]]: Due to the Water Civilization being the one that is the most technology and knowledge oriented, she usually is the one who takes care of those kinds of matters.
* TheSpock: Like the Civilization she specializes in, Nadia prides herself on operating logically and intelligently.

Master Kimora, the Nature Civilization Duel Master. is the most down to earth of the bunch. When the Masters were arguing about newcomer Ray, Kimora was the one who pointed out that when Ray showed a willingness to share his creature's (Bob's) fate, it inspired it to let him aboard. H e believes in one of nature's creeds, that what will be will be, and it's not long before he has complete faith in the new acolytes.

* BigFun: The most corpulent of the Masters, and also the most genial among them.
* TheBigGuy: Literally.
* CharacterDevelopment: He starts out like the others Duel Masters, treating the creatures anywhere between pets and well-tended tools. Thanks to Mighty Shouter, he eventually comes around to see things from Ray's perspective.
* GreenThumb: In Kimora's part of the temple, he keeps a beautiful garden where he is often seen taking care of the plants and flowers there.
* NatureHero: His specialty is Nature creatures, and he himself has a gardening hobby.
* NiceGuy: While it takes even Hector time to accept the kids, Kimora is nice from the start.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Becomes this over the course of the series. Specifically, after realizing that Mighty Shouter is a real living being, with his own life and problems, and that summoning him all wily-nily can indeed lead to Shouter developing even more problems, he had an epiphany moment, realizing that Ray's way of treating the creatures an intelligent beings was the right thing to do.

* {{Expy}}: Big, green, and has a [[HulkSpeak limited vocabulary]]. Odds are that ComicBook/TheIncredibleHulk will come to mind.

* MightyGlacier: Very big, very slow, very hard to take down.
* TheSpeechless: {{Averted}}. Notably the only one of the Duel Masters primary creatures to ever speak. Even Kimora didn't know he could. Shouter tells Kimora he only chooses to speak when on his own world. This is one of the primary reasons that causes Kimora to begin seeing things from Ray's point of view.

Darkness Civilization Master Jaha is a lot of things, above all, secretive. Though she and Master Nigel have a number of things in common, like their habit of keeping on top of things via spying and their fondness for the rules, in the end, she is the neutral Master; realizing that the old ways have served their Order well, but also that you'll never know what lies beyond the darkness of uncertainty unless you explore it. To that end, despite her fondness for Nigel, she's not quite in his camp, [[spoiler:as the season finale shows clearly.]]

[[quoteright:238:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_1choten4_large_9672.jpg]]

The primary villain of the show, The Choten was once a Duel Master until he defected their ranks because he felt their rules and way of going about things were too restrictive and archaic. To show this, he took some loyal acolytes, stole away to secret hideout, created new Tech Gauntlets as a more direct and efficient means to summon and control creatures, and began experimenting on creatures in order to use them as a viable energy resource and also to make them stronger. He even managed to obtain a financial backer help pay for all this.

A sinisterly pragmatic man with values similar to, and yet different from, the other Masters, he and Ray end up developing into each others anti-thesis. Where as Ray only wants to work with and befriend the creatures, The Choten only wishes to see and use them as tools and resources in the utmost sense of the two words. And of course, with an end game goal in mind to TakeOverTheWorld -- both of them.

For an, as of yet, unexplained reason, the Duel Masters and his minions only ever refer to him as "The Choten", including The Choten himself.

* AllYourPowersCombined: [[spoiler:"The Rising" finale has him combines all the artifacts into one, thus getting the power to control all creatures of the five Civilizations]].
* BadassInANiceSuit: As the former master of the Water civilization, he's a very skilled duelist. Also, he wears a very nice suit.
* BadBoss: Played with; it seems he actually punishes his minions proportionally to how much it's their fault and how much damage their failures cause: Alakshmi, who failed several times but caused no major defeat that he couldn't turn into an advantage, got away with only gradually losing his confidence until she proved her value again, [[spoiler:Saguru, who caused him to lose the Shield of Unity which dropped into the Darkness Civilization, merely got part of his stored memory destroyed, and Fingers, who caused him to durably lose a unique and powerful evolved creature, ended up sent to the Darkness Realm.]]
* BeardOfEvil: Inverted; he had a goatee when he was [[spoiler: a Duel Master]], but is clean shaven as a villain.
* BeneathTheMask: When first introduced, he is portrayed as a rather AffablyEvil character who reacts calmly to failures, forgives Alakshmi's errors easily (often because he has a XanatosGambit in mind to ensure he will end up winning something anyway) and generally stays almost phlegmatic, to the point you might be surprised to hear he is the villain. As the story goes on, he gradually starts displaying more and more sadistic and NotSoStoic moments, [[KickTheDog Kicking the Dog]] more often and acting more irritated, slowly revealing [[BadBoss his true nature]].
** He is also portrayed at first as being friendly to Nigel and viewing him as a friend, [[spoiler: but with the reveal of Teira being alive he speaks several times with spite towards Nigel about the event, suggesting his friendliness is just a act.]]
* BigBad: Of the show.

** LaserGuidedKarma: Considering all the JerkAss things he does, this was definitely deserved.
* {{Jerkass}}: In spite of his FauxAffablyEvil persona, The Choten is a very cruel and sadistic man.
* LackOfEmpathy: Especially towards the creatures, whom he dispassionately refers to as "monsters" whose only uses are as a renewable source of energy (their recharging Mana) and warfare.
* MadScientist: On the creatures of course. His experiments on them are what introduce the concept of "Creature Evolution" to the show.
* MakingASplash: He used to be the Master of the Water Civilization before Master Nadia, and as a result, specializes in Water Civilization creatures. [[spoiler:Also, the Helm of Ultimate Technology is the last Artifact he keeps at the end of season 1]].
* ManipulativeBastard: [[spoiler:Poor Ken...]]
* TheNicknamer: The Choten has a shade of this as he refers to Ken Okamoto as "Kenny" and usually addresses Nigel as "Nigel, Old Bean". In Nigel's case this also doubles as an AffectionateNickname.

* VillainousBreakdown: Despite being usually calm, almost phlegmatic, he starts losing his self-control when [[spoiler: he fails to get the Heart of Light and gets betrayed by Saguru.]]

* WouldHurtAChild: Would be entirely willing to murder children if it gets him what he wants. This is the point when Saguru decides he is going too far.
* YouHaveFailedMe: Averted with Alakshmi; she fails several times, but rather than get rid of her, he only loses faith in her.

The former Light Civilization Duel Master and former head of the San Campion branch of The Order of the Kaijudo Duel Masters, Nigel is a traditionalist at heart. Like the Light Civilization creatures he is an expert on, he prefers structure, order, and tradition. He sticks by the Order's rules, and sees to it that the others stick by them as well. So you can imagine the kinds of conniptions Ray's mere presence gives to this stalwart old bean. Although he does listen to the words of the other Masters, especially Jaha, it never seems to be enough to sway him completely, [[spoiler:as shown during the last handful of season 1 episodes when he switches sides to The Choten under the pretense of having some form of control when the Veil falls. However at the end of season 2, Nigel defects from the Choten's side as he is unwilling to help or allow the Choten to enslave humanity. Nigel was unaware that the Choten wanted to take control of the human world along with the Creature realm due to the fact that the Choten was deceiving him the entire time.]]

* AntiVillain: Not as bad as The Choten, but he isn't a good guy either.
* ArchEnemy: Isao seems to be this to Nigel given the animosity and a rivalry between them, especially now that Isao took over his position.
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: A Kaijudo Master and arrogantly condescending to a fault. He's so pompous when it comes to dominating creatures he tried to force Sasha, who is a Princess of the Light Civilization and the undisputed master of Light Creatures, to obey him when she arrived to the human realm. To say it was unsuccessful is an understatement.
* ControlFreak: Nigel definitely has shades of this with all those Stalker Spheres he employs. In fact, [[spoiler:Jaha comments on how the rigid structure and order of the Light Civilization ultimately consumes Nigel after he joins The Choten.]]
* DisapprovingLook: Nigel gives The Choten one at the end of "Unmasked" and again at the end of "Dueling Partners". He also expressed his disapproval at poaching Rumbling Terrasaur horns. [[spoiler: He doesn't seem to be agreeing with the The Choten lately]].

* FaceHeelTurn: [[spoiler:His belief that the Duel Masters have been "corrupted" leads him to joining The Choten out of delusion.]]
** Justified: Nigel is actually not in delusion and in a sense the masters were "corrupted" seeing as how Kaijudo has been changed irreparably by the kids and the other masters did in fact adopt their way except for Jaha, who simply accepts it but prefers the old ways, which is technically a perversion of what Kaijudo is and what it stands for.
%%* [[spoiler:FallenHero]]

* GoodIsNotNice: While definitely not evil, he is probably the least sympathetic of the Masters. [[spoiler:His Heel Face Turn exemplifies this.]]

This can be considered affectionate due to the fact that this British term is most often used an affectionate address by a friend. 513* InTheBack: [[spoiler:Master Jaha knocks him out when his back is turned in The Rising part 2. Also by Saguru in Duel Hard.]]
* ItsAllMyFault: Nigel has blamed himself for last twenty years for what happened to Tierra, [[spoiler: though she states that it was her own fault and not his. The Choten on the other hand disagrees and blamed Nigel fully for what happened.]]
* {{Jerkass}}: Big time. Sometimes, it really feels like he thinks it's his responsibility to criticize and complain about the kids.
** JerkassHasAPoint: Justified, however, when you realize that this behavior mostly only occurs when Ray and his friends are touching the creatures, or when they have traveled to the creature realm which is also forbidden; both of these things are something of which Nigel greatly disapproves of, obviously. Their constant disobeying and rule breaking is also a reason for Nigel's harsh attitude; this was a constant battle with the kids, especially seeing as how he himself lives for rules and order.
** JerkWithAHeartOfGold: For all his jerkassery toward the kids, he does mean well. He also has shown to care a lot about the other duelists as he only ever touched a creature in order to save them and he even states that while he doesn't' show it he does care. 523* TheMole: [[spoiler:Becomes one in "Heavenly Creatures"]]
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler: The supposed death of the former Fire Master, Teira.]]
* NominalHero: He's not intentionally evil and really only wants to protect humanity, but fails to understand that the Choten seeks to ''enslave'' humanity and has no problem killing everyone who defies his will, but seems to be getting the idea in recent episodes and is not happy with it. It is possible that the Choten may have been lying to Nigel throughout to make it seem like world domination wasn't his intention; this is hinted just before [[spoiler: Nigel and Tierra duel.]]
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: The kids are amazed when he not only agrees them, but decides to take them to the Light Civilization himself.
* PetTheDog: Jaha sitting and comforting Nigel after he is run over by Heller. Especially when she puts her hand on his and then smiles at him; you can tell by his expression that it meant a lot to him.
** Chavez thanking Nigel for saving them. Nigel then telling Chavez that while he doesn't show it he really does care.

* TookALevelInBadass: Compared to the first season, seems like it.
* TrashTalk: To Isao, BIG TIME.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: He genuinely believes the Choten intends to bring order to both the Veil and the Human world by using drastic methods. [[spoiler:When he finds out about the Choten's real plan, he immediatly defects again and tries to foil it.]]
* WeCanRuleTogether: [[spoiler:Tries to convince the other masters to join The Choten so they could have some positions of power]].

** When he actually did speak however, he pleaded with Nigel to [[HiddenDepths not force him to attack]] the heroes.

He seemed harmless, if a bit skeevy looking, although it turns out that he was [[TheMole a mole]] [[FirstEpisodeTwist planted in the Temple by The Choten]] as a means of acquiring the tablets of powerful creatures. Thanks to the new acolytes to be, this didn't pan out (though he did ended up freeing Flametropus for The Choten to snatch up later).

Heller was nothing more than a two-bit thief and con artist. Then he stole a Tech Gauntlet and somehow used it to summon Shaw K'Naw. He then went on a crime spree throughout San Campion, and instead of getting while the getting was good, he robs a museum and is subsequently defeated by the acolytes and, after Ray takes his Gauntlet, is later thrown in jail. There, he meets The Choten, who admonishes him for pettiness before offering him a job.

From then on, he becomes one of The Choten's underlings, used primarily as the muscle because of his uncanny creature control abilities. It's arguable whether he or Fingers gets the least respect at any given time.

* AchievementsInIgnorance: He had zero clues about Kaijudo when he stole the Tech Gauntlet, and even managed to summon Shaw K'Naw. It's why The Choten offers him a job.
** He gets another in "Extracurricular Activities" when he begins to commit crimes using the tip of a Rumbling Terrasaur's horn to cut through the veil for quick entrances and escapes. The Choten admits to being shocked that Heller came up with the idea.
* BadBoss: The way he treated Shaw K'Naw…wasn't very pleasant. To the point that when finally freed, the creature was willing to ''kill'' him despite Light creatures ordinarily not being especially murderous.

* HotBlooded: Although she tries to be cool and [[TheStoic stoic]], she's actually very driven and passionate. Something Megaria picks up on during her ReasonYouSuckSpeech to Alakshmi. It also explains why [[spoiler:she turns out to be more adept with Fire creatures than Darkness creatures.]]
* HumiliationConga: Went from being The Choten's protegee to accumulating defeats, being told more and more of being a disappointment, being left in charge of the most degrading tasks such as cleaning the roof and mucking out the creatures pins, and eventually being downright referred by her boss as "increasingly useless". Then, when she once again tries to prove her value, she is betrayed by her creature, kidnapped by Megaria and forced through the emotional wringer by having to relive painful thoughts of her mother, forced to fight Allie who defeats her ''again'', and gets a ReasonYouSuckSpeech from Megaria.

** [[spoiler: Happens to her after being caught by the Fire Civilization. Where she now works as a slave on Lord Skycrusher's volcano ship.]]

* PlayingWithFire: It's revealed after her travel to the Darkness Civilization that she actually is more competent with Fire Civilization creatures than Darkness Civilization ones; while she keeps using Razorkinder Puppet, she also starts following that advice, and indeed proves competent with it, to the point where The Choten entrusts her with wielding [[FlamingSword The Sword of Fiery Cataclysm]].
** KillItWithFire: Plans on burning everything in her path in "Heavenly Creatures". [[spoiler: She proceeds to do just that when the Heart of Light escapes her]].
* PsychoticSmirk: She is quite fond of this expression.

* [[TokenGoodTeammate Token Lesser Evil Teammate]]: Granted, she definitely isn't a kind person, but she is still the most sympathetic character on the villain side beside Saguru, being a WellIntentionedExtremist with an actual FreudianExcuse, whereas Fingers and Heller are both huge {{Jerkass}}es with no redeeming qualities (and let's not even talk about The Choten himself).
* TookALevelInBadass: Once she switches to Fire Creatures.
* TwoferTokenMinority: She's firmly Indian in ethnicity and background and, based on her comments about reincarnation, a Hindu as well.
* VillainDecay: An interesting case. She starts out as the menacing and competent henchwoman to The Choten and lasts that way until about episode 9 ''The Taken''. After that, the losses start piling up until even Fingers starts making fun of her. Then ''The Heart Of Darkness'', where she sinks even lower, being captured by Megaria and forced to fight, and lose, to Allie. Then the aforementioned ThrowTheDogABone happens, and she's back to being menacing and competent again.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: She does believe that The Choten has a noble goal beyond just [[TakeOverTheWorld ruling the world]].
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: [[spoiler:The Choten finally tires of her for good during "The Rising", tossing her away down a ship hatch. She lives, assists Gabe, and sets off on her own. She's last seen being carried off in a cage in the Fire Realm.]]

When Ray and Gabe travel to the Fire Civilization to rescue Allie, they are rescued by this strange man at the gates of Blastforge City. Believing himself to be a Nature creature, he was confused to find others like him. Very agile, with command of a Light/Nature hybrid creature who lives in his empty right eye socket, he helps Ray and Gabe get into the city.

Who he really is and where he came from is a mystery, even form himself. [[spoiler:Which is why he's doing services for The Choten in barter for his memories.]]

* AffablyEvil: He has nothing against either the Duel Masters or their acolytes; he only opposes them by necessity. In fact, he even once apologized to Ray and his friends for backstabbing them.
* AntiVillain: [[SlidingScaleOfAntiVillains Type IV]]
* BackFromTheDead: ...SORT OF. [[spoiler: At the end of Season 1, Homunculon is forcibly evolved, he is pushed off a building, and lands on a crate, putting him in a coma and banishing him (because he's effectively [[FusionDance fused]] with Homunculon at this point) to the Creature Realm. He is then found by [[ReasonableAuthorityFigure Finbarr]], who reunites him with Ray and the protagonists.]]
* BodyHorror: [[spoiler:Happens to him when Homunculon is mutated by The Choten and fused to his body]].
* EasilyForgiven: By Ray, regardless of the number of time Saguru betrayed him or his friends. Even when he tells himself and his friends that he won't trust Saguru again [[spoiler:after he leads the kids into a Mana dead-zone and kidnaps Sasha for her Heart of Light, after learning the truth from his mom and figuring out Saguru is his dad, when next they meet, he forgives Saguru completely.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He's truly shocked when The Choten tries to kill children to get the Heart of Light.

* LaserGuidedAmnesia: How The Choten keeps bargaining with him.
* LightIsNotGood: While he is [[spoiler:fused with Homunculon, a Light (and Nature) creature, which makes him violent and animalistic.]]
** [[spoiler:Possibly {{Justified}} by the fact that both were injected with The Choten's evolution serum which triggered the fusion in the first place.]]
* LukeIAmYourFather: Specifically, [[spoiler:Ray's.]]
* ManipulativeBastard: Not as much as The Choten, but he is still willing to do this to get what he wants.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:When he regains his memories and realized how he has betrayed and used his own son]].
* TheSymbiote: He has a small Nature/Light creature living inside his right empty socket as a replacement for his missing eye. The creature can get out of his socket and assist him.
* TearsOfRemorse: Sheds these at the end of ''Betrayal'' [[spoiler:upon the weight and realization of his actions and fate coming down on him.]]
* TokenGoodTeammate: He isn't exactly a nice guy when we meet him, but he is in no way evil and works for The Choten because he is being blackmailed.
* UnwittingPawn: To the Choten
* WildCard: He makes it clear that he is ''not'' on The Choten's side, and only helps him so he can get parts of his memory back. At several points, he would team up with the protagonists, or even outright help them as a payment for a debt he has toward them or just because it's in his interest.
** [[spoiler:Now he's gotten all of his memories back, and is horrified by The Choten's plan and what he has been tricked into doing.]]

Refers to herself as Empress, Megaria is one of the powers vying for control of the entire Darkness Civilization, along with her sisters. To that end, she amasses anything that she feels will help her stake her claim, like a stray Kaijudo Duelist or two.

As her name suggests, Megaria is a packrat of sorts, always collecting odds and ends that she finds valuable. The nearby natives are so scared of her that they often give her gifts (like Scaradorables to eat) and trinkets to appease her. And as one might guess, someone like her can never be appeased for long.

* BadBoss: "You let an imposter through. Report to the Dungeon for correction."

* BerserkButton: Being reminded that [[spoiler:Jaha apparently killed her brother and is now using his hand as a stick.]]
* BlackEyesOfCrazy: She has black sclera and pupil-less white irises.
* CombatTentacles: Her hair is one.
* CorruptTheCutie: Constantly tries this on Allie. Also implied to have been attempted on Jaha in the past.
* TheDreaded: By many natives of the Darkness Civilization.
* EvilMentor: She is obsessed about being one to Allie.
* EvilOverlord: Ruler of the Darkness realm, and not a benevolent leader either.
* FacialHorror: Whenever she is wearing her illusion mask.

* BadassAdorable: He looks like a little blue baby in a mech suit. He's also a very dangerous Creature, in a high position of power.
* BerserkButton: Don't mention he looks like a baby.
* BloodKnight: It doesn't take much for him to resort to violence as the solution to a problem.
* GeneralRipper: His position on the Council of Logos is that of a General. And he isn't afraid to break out the big guns.
* GovernmentInExile: He was a member of the Council of Logos which governed the Water Civilization, until he be came a fugitive.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Predisposition to war aside, he can actually be this. [[spoiler:He is one of the first Cyber Lords to notice something is wrong when King Tritonus (actually controlled by the Choten) starts pushing the Water Civilisation in a pointless war.]]

* MarionetteMotion: And it's damn creepy.
* OminousMusicBoxTune: Accompanies it wherever it goes.
* TakeOurWordForIt: Whatever's behind his mask, it's probably even creepier than his regular look, judging by the protagonists' reaction to it.

When confronted by the Duel Masters, he fought them initially, until Ray was able to convince him to let him show him the Veil and join with his kind. 939
* [[BigBrotherBully Big Sister Bully]]: Taken to the most extreme logical; she wants to ''kill'' Tatsurion.
* CainAndAbel: Cain to Tatsurion's Abel.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: She's too much of a hothead consumed by hatred of Bob to think up a good plan of trapping him, which Alakshmi points out.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: She brought Tatsurion and his mother to Brutalus' lair, expecting her former betrothed to kill them and restore his honor. It didn't occur to her for a second that Brutalus ''didn't'' blame Tatsurion for the loss of his wing and considered revenge as pointless.
* EvilIsPetty: Tricks Bob into going on a hunt as if she is finally accepting him as a brother. Turns out Moorna brought him to watch her burn down Bob's Quillspike home.
* FantasticRacism: Hates Tatsurion for dirtying her noble bloodline and looks down on anyone not a dragon.

* NeverMyFault: Yes, Moorna, it's completely Tatsurion's fault if he crippled your betrothed while trying to defend his family that ''you'' tricked everyone into attacking just to hurt him. You know it's bad when even said betrothed thinks she is wrong.

* EvenEvilHasStandards: Even before becoming a better person, he was genuinely shocked to learn Moorna had them raid Tasturion's Quillspike family. Later, he admits that, had he known sooner, he would have refused to begin with.
* TheExile: He was forced into seclusion after losing a wing. A dragon who cannot fly is shamed by the community.
* HandicappedBadass: Thanks to Tatsurion, his left wing is too damaged to allow him to fly, making him a cripple by Dragon standards. He still seems quite strong and capable of handling himself in a fight.
* MiseryBuildsCharacter: His years in exile helped him realize the Dragon's "code of honor" is a total crock. And made him a better (If still bitter) creature.

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Razorhide and Prickleback aren't the nicest guys to Tatsurion, but they still display a nicer side occasionally, and, no matter how mean they can be, they are ''nothing'' compared to [[BigBrotherBully Moorna]].
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Razorhide and Prickleback are kinda dicks to Tatsurion, but their mother Headstrong Wanderer is much nicer and more comprehensive.

* [[EvilSoundsDeep Evil Sounds Scary]]: Her normal voice, while shrill and bird-like, is undoubtedly female. However, when she wants to sound threatening, [[VoiceOfTheLegion her voice gets far deeper]].
* GlowingEyes: Purple glowing to be specific.
* ObviouslyEvil: [[InvokedTrope Invoked]]. She doesn't make any secret of the fact that Darkness Creatures are known to be deceptive, and frequently warns the other characters about it. Ironically, she actually is more neutral than really evil.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Looks like a large, bat-like dragon with a mask-like beak.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Sort of. She's willing to free Ray and company after they help protect her realm, but she was still [[spoiler:tricked into restarting the war between Light and Darkness.]]
** [[spoiler: She also agreed to call off her invasion of San Campion if given back the Cloak of Dark Illusion, even though, as a Darkness Creature, it would have been fully within her nature to deceive Allie.]]

* EnergyWeapon: Uses one [[spoiler:to help destroy the Veil in The Rising]].
* FlyingSaucer: Looks like one.
* GenderReveal: Due to her machine-like appearance, we don't learn she actually is a female until her second appearance, where she is explicitly referred to as a Queen.

* MakeMeWannaShout: The Angel-like faces under her body can be used to generate sonic attacks.
* OrderVersusChaos: [[spoiler: Represents Order.]]
%%* OurAngelsAreDifferent
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: She can take quite drastic or brutal decisions, but she will listen to her subjects' opinion and consider following their suggestions if they give good enough arguments. [[spoiler:In ''Clash of the Monarch'', she tries to prevent Infernus and Tritonus from gutting each other before getting taken over by Brightmore.]]
* TheUnintelligible: Express herself in music-like sounds...
** IntelligibleUnintelligible: ... But other creatures do understand her.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: In "Exchange Program", she tries to help humanity to become more serene and orderly... by abducting humans and brainwashing them to remove their free will. Sasha and Gabe eventually manage to convince her to go for a more peaceful approach to study humans.
* YouWillBeAssimilated: Attempts to make the human world "orderly". Though according to Sasha, this was option 2. Option 1 was destroying humanity.
