!! Junior (a.k.a Grim Jr)
The main character of the story and Grim and Mandy's son. Prince of the Underworld.

* BigBrotherInstinct: It takes awhile to fully take root but when [[UnstoppableRage it finally does...]] In Afterbirth he is also caring towards Dani and Manny despite being absent from their lives for three years, offering the latter a soul to eat when he broke down crying over Dani's kidnapping and immediately leaving to rescue her.
* BrotherSisterIncest: Implied though he heavily denies it.
** By the end of the series [[spoiler:he seems more accepting of it]]. When the series renewed they seem to have worked out a brother-sister version of a PseudoRomanticFriendship. However Mimi is also his crush so there could be a love triangle in the works...
* BroughtDownToBadass: [[spoiler: Offers up his demon powers in the non-canon sequel story Afterbirth in an attempt to regain his sister's love. It works.]]
* ClassicalAntiHero: He starts off a jealous coward who is resentful of his sister.
* CuteMonsterBoy: As far as a skeleton goes. He's even cuter as a human boy though.
* DemBones: A living skeleton like his father. His spirit form is more human looking though. [[spoiler: Because he was originally human, but Grim's plans called for killing him and bringing him back as a reaper.]] After getting the Nergal symbiote, he can assume a human-like appearance at will.
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: Since [[spoiler: Mandy]] is the most powerful and feared person in the Underworld, Junior's defiance counts as this.
* DrivenByEnvy: He starts off as TheResenter towards Minnie, combined with believing he's TheUnfavorite. He also hates that Nergal Jr. (his godfather) shows more attention and love towards her, though it is later justified as [[spoiler:Nergal Jr. is Minnie's biological father.]]
* EmbarrassingOldPhoto: Lock, Shock, and Barrel start gushing over [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/uncle-nergal a really adorable photo of baby Junior]] in one of Grim's diaries. Cue Junior's face turning red with embarrassment.
%%* {{Expy}}: A combination of [[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion Shinji Ikari]], [[Manga/{{Bleach}} Ichigo Kurosaki]], and [[spoiler: [[{{ComicBook/TheDarkness}} Jackie Estacado]]]].
* FlippingTheBird: Does this to [[spoiler: Mandy]] in Nergal speech in his defense of [[spoiler: Mimi]].
* FutureBadass: [[spoiler: In ''Afterbirth'' sequel comic, he'd gotten far more skilled, though this story was later "de-canonized".]]
* GenerationXerox: Defied in the best possible way. His realationship with his sister might certainly echo Grim's canon subservience to Mandy, however when finally pushed Jr reveals doesn't take after his father, but his mother. First by defying her orders (which impresses her), then by defeating his sister.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: In his Demon-Reaper form. In Afterbirth he has these constantly until [[spoiler: he offered up his eye in an attempt to bargain for Minnie's life, which she later took back.]]
* GoodThingYouCanHeal: He gets torn apart a lot. To put this into perspective, he gets his spine and head ripped out of his body by Mimi and is still speaking rather nonchalantly as he tried to calm Mimi down. It does hurt though, as Grim once separated Minnie and Junior after Mimi stuck them together with stakes by cutting his tentacles and hand off, with Junior muttering, "In my happy place... In my happy place..." soon afterward as Minnie bandaged them.
--> '''Junior:''' ''[after getting his head and spine ripped out]'' Minnie? Just calm down! I'm fine, really! [[Film/MontyPythonAndTheHolyGrail It's just a flesh wound!]]
* GoThroughMe: After Mandy [[spoiler:drains the dark energy out of Mimi, reverting her to her human form and orders her to be disposed of. Junior, tired of her callousness,]] stands in front of [[spoiler: Mimi]] and refuses to move even when [[spoiler: Mandy starts physically beating him.]]
* GrewASpine: Over the course of Part 1 he matures from a wimpy, jealous brat into a more self-assured and selfless person. [[IncrediblyLamePun Pun aside]], he also made a daring choice to summon his demon-reaper powers to defend a weakened Mimi from a pissed-off Mandy. It's also ''because'' he made that choice that Mandy actually decides to spare Mimi.
** Does so again during his fight with his sister. When he and [[spoiler: the symbiote]] decide enough is enough. He stops being afraid of her, tells her he's through with her acting the way she is, then soundly beats her
* GrimReaper: Like father, like son.
* HeelRealization: Though it takes a trip through the afterlife for him to finally realize he's been a brat.
%%* TheHero
* HumanoidAbomination: Is a walking skeleton with the ability to harvest souls, bonded to an EldritchAbomination.
* InnocentBlueEyes: Post HeelRealization, he's so nice and naive that he couldn't even conceive the idea of Minnie going {{Yandere}} on him until she repeatedly tries to kill him and Mimi after Grim and Mandy leave to confront Him, missing all of the obvious signs.
* {{I Know Youre In There Somewhere Fight}}: Against a mind-controlled Minnie.
* InTheHood: As discussed below, Junior wears nothing but black hoodies and jeans. They become a sick looking [[BadassLongcoat longcoat]] [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/scythe-beats-scissorssaw-every-time when he goes Demon-Reaper Mode though]], just like dear old Dad.
* LimitedWardrobe: [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/free-mimi Junior's wardrobe is revealed to have nothing but black hoodies.]]
* LoserProtagonist: Due to his inexperience in actual combat, he tends to get his rear handed to him by anyone with a modicum of it, like Mimi.
* LovecraftianSuperpower: His Nergal powers manifest as tentacles, fangs, and glowing green eyes.
* MixAndMatchMan: In his human form, one blue eye and one [[spoiler: grey after getting Minnie's eye.]]
* MommasBoy: His profile lists him as this, trying to win the appreciation of his mother and being terrified at the thought of going against her. This is diminished by "Afterbirth", as he is genuinely confrontational with his mother over the topic of Minnie's disappearance, snarling "Damn you mother." when he finds out that she hasn't even sent out a search party. He also stands up to her in the canon sequel.
* MoralityPet: [[spoiler: Has been one for Minnie up until the aftermath of the Mimi battle. According to the Nergal Symbiote, he's the reason as to why Minnie didn't exhibit any of her mother's cruelty, at least outwardly. But thanks to recent events, Minnie has begun to give in to that cruelty.]]
* NiceGuy: After realizing how bratty he's been [[spoiler: by nearly wrecking Halloween Town, getting Minnie and Nergal killed, being confronted an angel and Him, and meeting Mimi]] he becomes a genuinely nice kid who looks out for his sister and Mimi first and foremost. For example, he brings Mimi muffins, saves her from falling off the castle [[spoiler: (which his mother and sister caused)]], and makes sure she takes a bath to ensure her comfort despite technically being a prisoner and in Mandy's words, Junior's "Pet".
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: It's due to his jealously of his sister Minnie that the comics events happened.
* SinisterScythe: The Nergal Symbiote can form a scythe out of its biomass.
* ShoutOut: His full head of hair as a human is very similar to the hero of a [[Manga/CaseClosed popular Japanese detective series.]] Compare [[http://snafucomics.wikia.com/wiki/File:080724_grim.jpg this]] to [[http://static1.comicvine.com/uploads/scale_super/11111/111111327/3278747-dc-detective-conan-17352255-857-933.jpg this.]]
* SuperMode: His Demon Reaper form. Once he and the Nergal symbiote start getting along, Junior can assume this form at will.
* SuperPoweredEvilSide: Minnie's Nergal powers can take over him if he's not careful, though he and his Nergal side have since become good friends.
* SuperpowerfulGenetics: Stated by [[spoiler: His grandfather, the Reaper King]] that as a Reaper, he has the potential to be much stronger without the Symbiote than with it.
* TheSymbiote: His Nergal side has a mind of its own.
* TalkingToThemself: Talks and argues with his Nergal side.
%%%%
%%%% The Worf Effect is more than "losing many fights".
%%%%%
* TheUnfavorite: He feels like this due to his sister's talents overshadowing him. In truth, it's not the case. If what the [[spoiler:Nergal Symbiote]] says is true, [[spoiler:Junior standing up to his mother made him the favorite in her eyes]].
* UnplannedCrossdressing: When he gets serious about fighting Minne he [[spoiler: ends up dressed up in his sisters clothes from when she was alive, including her hair cut.]] Though he's wise enough to focus on the fight first.
* UnskilledButStrong: As a Reaper-Nergal demon hybrid he's easily one of the most powerful beings in the setting but he has next to no skill in using his powers or combat ability which stopgaps him quite a bit. [[spoiler: According to the Reaper King his powers as a Reaper alone have the potential to exceed his strength as a hybrid, something that he first taps into during his fight with Minnie.]]
* WarriorPrince: After obtaining the Nergal symbiote, he's powerful enough to lay waste to all of Halloween Town with ease, though he's inexperienced and ends up getting his butt kicked multiple times.
* YourSoulIsMine: In ''Afterbirth'', he has a thing for eating souls and ghosts to feed his Nergal Symbiote, even saying that his half-siblings look really tasty.
** During his fight with Minnie, after beating her with her old Nergal powers, he finally uses his own natural Reaper powers and pulls his sisters soul out of her body.

!! Minnie (a.k.a Mini Mandy)
Grim and Mandy's daughter [[spoiler: though biologically Nergal Jr's her father]], Junior's little sister, and princess of the underworld.

* TheAce: She's portrayed as a prim and proper perfect princess who excels in everything in Part 1, thought Part II reveals that's a facade she works hard to maintain.
* ACupAngst: In one strip, she was seen comparing herself with her mother and an image of a [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/gotta-hand-it-to-ya pancake appears.]] It's even better when you realize to what her line, "How cruel, my name be so apt..." refers.
* ActionGirl: You wouldn't know it from her appearance though.
%%* AnatomyArsenal[=/=]WalkingArmory
* BowAndSwordInAccord: She is a skilled archer and swordswoman.
* BackFromTheDead: The first comic is essentially a HowWeGotHere of this.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Normally a very sweet girl, but God help you if you get her angry.
* BerserkButton: Harming Junior in any way. ''Very'' bad idea.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: According to the symbiote, she was terribly cruel to him even though she was outwardly sweet to everyone else. This began to crack as Junior became closer to Mimi as her jealousy grew.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: While in Him's realm in Part I, Minnie's soul almost killed Junior in rage and frustration over him not loving her. While all the basic brainwash norms were present (dull eyes, being woke up forcelly), Him claims that he just let [[BeneathTheMask Minnie's true self]] surface. This was foreshadowing the reveal that Minnie is indeed as cruel as Mandy.
* BrotherSisterIncest: She is in love with her half-brother Junior to a world-ending degree.
** She's been shown to cave to her brother for the promise of sleeping in the same bed as him and play with his hair after he was nailed to the floor on top of her.
** [[spoiler: It's also the reason for her even seeming like a good and pure soul as she had been purposefully suppressing her natural evil so that Junior would not have to witness it.]]
* ClingyJealousGirl: Deeply [[TheResenter resentful]] of Mimi's crush on Junior (a crush that he seems to reciprocate).
* CooldownHug: [[spoiler:Gives Junior one [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/i-have-you here]].]]
* CoolSword: When she had her Nergal powers she could create them at will.
* CovertPervert: When Mimi immobilized her and Junior in such a way that he wound up pinning her down she certainly didn't mind and wasn't in much of a rush to get them free, with Junior realizing that she's actually enjoying it.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: [[spoiler: Her being torn in ''half'' by Oogie Boogie while she was still human wasn't very pretty...]]
* CuteBruiser
* CuteMonsterGirl: Despite the fangs and claws her Nergal side gave her, Minnie still was pretty cute even when fighting. Now, she's in the body of a undead girl without an eye.
* TheDreaded: To Junior's Nergal side, thanks to formely being hers and it knows her better than even Junior. According to it, Minnie has all the latent potential to be as evil as her mom.
* DeathGlare: Gives a pretty epic one [[http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/bleedmancomics/images/9/91/110527_grim.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20111029184120 here]].
* DespairEventHorizon: Undergoes one in the non-canon story Afterbirth after Junior leaves to train on his own.
* EmergencyTransformation: Her current form [[spoiler:as her original body had to be destroyed thanks to the EnemyWithin.]]
* LivingWeapon: At the beginning of Part 1, she possesses LovecraftianSuperpowers courtesy of her Nergal side, which has a mind of its own and is passed on to Junior.
* EnemyWithout: [[spoiler:Once she was killed by Oogie Boogie, her eldritch powers ran rampant.]]
%%* {{Expy}}: [[Anime/RevolutionaryGirlUtena Anthy Himemiya]], [[{{Manga/Bleach}} Orihime Inoue]], [[{{Anime/Naruto}} Hinata Hyuuga]], and [[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion Rei Ayanami]], meet your long-lost cousin, [[spoiler: by way of [[SuperEmpowering Rukia Kuchiki]].]]
* EyeScream: She gives Junior her right eye to [[SuperEmpowering empower him and grant him Nergal powers.]] In ''Afterbirth'', she gives Boogieman her left eye, and in doing so she gives her hand in marriage to him. [[spoiler:Once she and Junior reconcile, she takes both her eyes back.]]
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: In her first form. As well as a glowing mouth.
* GoodGirlGoneBad: [[spoiler:After she realized that her brother is growing more and more distant from her thanks to her mother's speech; she now has reinvented herself to honor her name and be a mini clone of her mother.]]
* HumanoidAbomination: With her Nergal powers, she can shape shift to grow tentacles, fangs, claws, and sprout weapons from her body at will, but by default resembles a human girl. She later passes those powers on to Junior, and is resurrected as an undead human.
%%* ImplausibleFencingPowers
* IncorruptiblePurePureness: Surprisingly for the Underworld's princess and Mandy's daughter Minnie is kind, demure and pretty much the perfect little girl. [[spoiler:She's so pure, that her soul was accepted into Heaven and a high ranked angel descended specifically to escort her.]] After TheReveal about her feelings for her brother, however, she was turned away, though this was what she wanted in the end. [[spoiler: However, according to the Nergal symbiote, she's always had a darkness capable of unspeakable horrors, it was just hidden so deeply within her due to her affections for her brother that not even the angel escorting her could see it. And now she's succumbing to it.]]
* KickTheDog: The first thing she does after [[spoiler:reinventing herself in her mother's image]] is criticizing and stomping over her brother's muffins.
* KidWithTheLeash: Minnie gave up her powers to her brother but still retains the ability to control the Nergal symbiote. This means she can reel it in and keep it from acting up if Junior can't control it or make it take action if he's unable to but it also means that she can make the symbiote attack Junior if she wishes, which is ''very'' bad given she's a GreenEyedMonster {{Yandere}} towards her brother.
** [[spoiler:And she makes good on the latter when he beats her in a duel, forcing it to stab her in the back.]]
%%* LadyOfWar[=/=]SilkHidingSteel
%%* LittleMissBadass
* LovecraftianSuperpower: Her Nergal powers enable her to sprout tentacles, spikes, claws, and a wide assortment of other grotesque abilities at will. She passes them on to Junior and helps him control them. [[spoiler: Junior leaving to train on his own is what drives her to leave in ''Afterbirth''.]]
* NotGrowingUpSucks: [[spoiler:In ''Afterbirth'', one of the reasons Minnie has run away from home is because her body no longer ages due to being undead.]]
** [[spoiler: Possibly foreshadowed in ''What About Mimi'', where she appears jealous of the fact that she's not as... "developed" as her mother.]]
** [[spoiler: It seems she may get over this if she has both her eyes.]]
* OneWomanArmy: Before giving up her Nergal side to Junior, she was capable of taking down a whole army by herself.
%%* {{Ojou}}
%%* SheFu[=/=]WaifFu
* PrettyPrincessPowerhouse: She begins the story as a prim and proper perfect princess of the Underworld who also has mighty Nergal powers. [[spoiler: Then her mother's influence shows itself, and the "prim and proper perfect" aspects go away.]]
* SuperEmpowering: Gives Junior her Nergal powers by handing him one of her eyes when she knew she was about to die.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Her long-hidden evil side has started to show itself now that Junior is paying attention to Mimi instead of her.
* {{Tsundere}}: After Junior kisses her to snap her out of yandere mode, she slaps him and vehemently denies having romantic feelings for him.
* TheUnfavorite: [[spoiler:Thanks to Grim always hating her biological father and Mandy favoring junior for having the nerve to openly defy her, she's found herself neglected by her parents.]]
* {{Yandere}}: Escalates into this over time, particularly when Mimi is involved.
--> '''Minnie:''' "Love me, Junior! '''[[http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/bleedmancomics/images/b/ba/080914_grim.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20111029182216 LOVE ME!]]'''"
** [[spoiler: Has now crossed over into ''endangering Junior's life'' as well.]]
* YeOldeButcheredeEnglishe: She normally speaks in old-timey PurpleProse, which Mandy blames on the tutor they hired.

!! Nergal Symbiote

* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: His reason for cooperating with Junior. According to the Symbiote, [[spoiler:Minnie treated it like crap]] and the fact that Junior was willing to talk to it and treat it as a friend moved it.
* DeadpanSnarker: It's taken to ribbing Junior over the love triangle between him, Mimi, and Minnie, particularly over Junior's naivety about his relationship with Minnie.
--> '''Symbiote:''' ''[while getting shot at by Minnie]'' Oh bring it on, [[SarcasmMode dear sweet and kind sister who would never hurt a fly!]]
* EldritchAbomination: While usually it manifests as clothing, it can assume various mind-bendingly monstrous forms.
* HeelFaceTurn: It was initially antagonistic, but come Part 2 it and Junior treat each other like brothers (which they are due to having Mandy for a mother).
* NotEvilJustMisunderstood: It's stint as the BigBad of Part 1? [[spoiler:That was it lashing out after years of being maltreated by Minnie.]]
* NoKillLikeOverkill: Recommends increasingly heavy layers of protection to Junior prior to their confrontation with Minnie until finally settling on creating a tank around themselves while Minnie sits in front of them, apparently unarmed.
* OneWingedAngel: It assimilates Oogie's Pumpkinator mech to become an enormous monster.
* LargeHam: It unleashes a HurricaneOfPuns when finally able to throw down with Minnie.
--> '''Symbiote:''' ''[blocking Mimi's attacks with its body]'' Yeah! Bring it on, [[ThisIsForEmphasisBitch BI%C#!]] After weeks of dental afflictions, my body has grown to become the visage of impeccable steel! I AM INVINCIBLE!
* PrecisionFStrike: For all of its cussing, it rarely uses anything but Bitch. He finally uses the f-word when [[spoiler: Junior finally accepts the fact that Minnie would and is trying to kill him and Mimi.]]
--> '''Symbiote:''' Fuck yeah.
* SirSwearsALot: Uses expletives more often than anyone in the series besides Mandy.
* SpontaneousWeaponCreation: At a word from Minnie, it can morph into or extrude various weapons. He later does this for Junior, spontaneously creating scythes, tentacles, and spikes for him to attack with, as well as morphing into an entire ''tank.''
* SuperPoweredEvilSide: When it first bonded to Junior it deemed him weak-willed, seized control of him, and went on a rampage.
* StarfishLanguage: It, Minnie, Mandy, and Junior are all capable of speaking a language made up of black and green symbols.
* TheSymbiote: It was originally part of Minnie, but was transferred to Junior along with her eye.
* TalkingToThemself: When it is first introduced, it talks to itself as though it possesses multiple personalities.
* YourSoulIsMine: After bonding to Junior, it acquired the ability to remove and eat souls.

!! Grim
The very same from ''WesternAnimation/TheGrimAdventuresOfBillyAndMandy''. In this universe, after years of unwilling servitude to the two title characters, he found he actually did like hanging around them, especially Mandy. At first he was unwilling to kill them, allowing Mandy to live into adulthood. He eventually gathered the nerve to reap her, but not before proposing to her first. She accepted and the two have the ruled the underworld since.

* BumblingDad: He tries his best, but he's without a doubt a HenPeckedHusband who only barely keeps a handle on the chaos in his household.
* ButtMonkey: Yeah even as the ruler he can't get a break. Not as bad as the TV show though.
* DemBones: He's a walking talking skeleton.
* DarkIsNotEvil: He's the Grim Reaper, his very purpose is to reap souls and take them to the other side, whichever that may be. That said, he is not a bad guy. He genuinely loves his children, and he wishes for peace among the other rulers of the underworld. The only really evil thing about him is that he has no problem with death as he is the one reaping them anyway.
* EvenEvilHasStandards:
** He actually calls Mandy out for letting Mimi get close to the [[spoiler:Hand of Horrors]] knowing full well what it can do.
** He gives another to her for not [[spoiler:helping Blossom and Mimi during their hour of need in the past]]
* TheGoodKing: When compared to [[GodSaveUsFromTheQueen Mandy,]] anyway.
* GoodParents: He loves his children, [[spoiler: Even when he knows that none of them are biologically his, Since being Death he is incapable of creating life.]]
* GrimReaper: Did the name not give it away?
* HenpeckedHusband: Well, when [[JustifiedTrope your wife is Mandy...]]
* PapaWolf: Loves his kids very much and will do anything to protect them.
* SinisterScythe: Can't be the Grim Reaper without the scythe.

!! Mandy
Grim's wife and mother to Junior and Minnie. After years of bossing Grim around, she found out he had grown an attachment to her and Billy. As such, she was immortal since he kept prolonging her life and she grew into powerful woman until Grim finally gathered the nerve to reap her. She married him instead and became ruler of the underworld alongside him. [[spoiler: She had an affair with Nergal Jr. at one point which resulted in Minnie, which Grim was aware of, though he wasn't happy about it.]]

* AbusiveParents: Unsurprising, considering who it is. While Mandy does love her children, and will occasionally show a PetTheDog moment with them, she is no less cruel and cold towards them than anyone else when it comes to getting her way. More recent comics reveal that she put Minnie through a literal TrainingFromHell to hone her fighting skills, and that ''she'' is the reason for Junior's previous animosity towards Minnie by making it look like Minnie was purposefully antagonizing him.
* ActionMom: Mandy is the literal queen of [[ActionGirl badass ladies]] in this comic.
* AlmightyMom: The comic makes it clear that Mandy is the one in charge and no one dares to resist her orders unless they have a ''very'' good reason to.
* BadassBoast: [[spoiler: "If Him wants to dance, we don't dance. ''We bring down the dance floor.''"]]
* CardCarryingVillain: She is a DarkActionGirl who relishes cruelty and vindictiveness.
* ClusterFBomb: She doesn't hold back in this series:
-->'''Mandy:''' ''[[after shooting a demonic Angry Bird flung by Mimi]'' Demonic birds? How original. Where are the kettles? The irons, the kitchen sink? You fucking with me? Don't fuck with me!
* ColdSniper: When Junior saves Mimi from falling off the edge of the castle by turning the Nergal symbiote into a grappling pistol, Mandy watches as Minnie takes aim at the line with her bow. When Minnie hesitates, Mandy pulls out a sniper rifle and takes the shot herself, then scolds her daughter for hesitating.
* CosplayOtakuGirl: Mandy has some [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/moms-a-cosplayer interesting]] outfits in that closet of hers.
* DeathGlare: Mandy gives one to Dark Danny because of his recklessness.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: The only people she shows a modicum of decency towards are her children and sometimes Grim. And even then she's not above beating them up.
* GodSaveUsFromTheQueen: Think of it this way. ''The Grim Reaper'', the embodiment of Death itself, is the '''second''' most feared person in the Underworld. '''''SECOND.'''''
* GunsAkimbo: Uses dual pistols against Mimi.
* HypocriticalHumor: She uses the DumbBlond stereotype on Bubbles.
* LackOfEmpathy: She does [[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes care for her family]] but anyone else is on their own. [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/not-up-to-snuff This page sums it up quite nicely.]]
* MamaBear: Her reason for [[spoiler: going to war with Him? Because he ''dared'' to go after her children and her home.]] And also because she has a reputation to uphold.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: After Mimi drops a demonic Angry Bird egg on her, Mandy's skin begins to burn off. Mandy shrugs it off as if it were nothing and keeps shooting.
* MsFanservice: She's commonly seen wearing little more than her underwear. Her normal outfit is pretty damn stripperific too.
* PerpetualFrowner: Her default expression.
* PetTheDog: This is pushing it. Really, it is, but somewhere deep in that black hole we call Mandy's heart, she cares for the happiness of her children [[spoiler: and is willing to go to war with Him, who mind you single-handedly wiped out ''every Cartoon Network protagonist in history'', after his forces went after her children.]] She also reminds Junior to take care of and protect his sister and Mimi while she's out and gives Mimi some of her old clothes to wear.
* ReallyGetsAround: [[spoiler: Junior's biological father was a human man (whose identity, as of this writing, is unknown), and she also slept with Nergal Jr. which produced Minnie. She slept with Dark Danny, which in ''Afterbirth'' results in the twins Dani and Manny.]] [[JustifiedTrope Justified]], as Grim is incapable of creating life, and it's implied the only way Grim can have a child is [[spoiler:through an abortion, stillbirth or miscarriage. This is how Junior was born as a reaper and not a normal human.]]
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Makes it perfectly clear to Minnie in [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/the-weight-of-lineage "The Weight of Lineage"]] that for all her PurpleProse and a "killer" DeathGlare, she lacks her mother's ability to take action without hesitation or remorse, and that Junior will keep "flying further and further" out of her reach until she does so. A point which is exemplified by TheReveal that ''Mandy'' was the one who shot the line holding Junior and Mimi, not Minnie.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: After becoming the Empress of the Underworld, she has permanently red eyes.
* SexuallyTransmittedSuperpowers: Mandy marries TheGrimReaper himself after growing up - and even before then, the fact that he's in love with her grants her virtual immortality simply by virtue of the fact that he ''refuses to reap her''. It's never made entirely clear how powerful she's gotten since then, but she's widely regarded as the single-most feared entity in the netherworld...
* ShipperOnDeck: A very subtle example, but she nudges Minnie to get Junior by any means necessary as she feels that restraint is a sign of weakness. Combine this with Minnie's emerging {{Yandere}} tendencies and well... she started getting... [[MurderTheHypotenuse ideas]].
* TheStoic: As in her home series.
* SupernaturallyYoungParent: Mandy accepted being Grim's wife and she stopped being a mortal when she was in her late 20's or something.
* WouldHurtAChild: [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/a-bit-of-motherly-love Even her own son isn't exempt from her wrath]].

!! Dani and Manny

Two new additions to the Grim household born in between the end of "What About Mimi?" and "Afterbirth''. They are [[spoiler: the product of Mandy and Dark Danny sleeping together. As such they have ghost powers.]] Due to "Afterbirth" being ruled non-canon, their future in the series is in doubt, though [[http://www.snafu-comics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=53565&f=2 "Elements lifted from Afterbirth may manifest in the official work later, in some form"]], so they may still appear, especially given [[spoiler: Mandy's sleeping with Dark Danny in "What About Mimi?"]].

* AdorablyPrecociousChild: They're both tiny compared to their brother and [[spoiler: stepfather]] and they cause ruckuses often, but they really do want to make their family happy and see what the world is like.
* AmazonChaser: Manny for Mimi.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: Dani treats Manny as one despite being virtually the same age while both of them cause headaches for Junior with their antics.
* BigBrotherWorship: Dani cares just enough about Junior to [[spoiler:want to help him rescue Minnie]].
* BrattyHalfPint: Both of them, in their own different ways.
* BrotherSisterTeam: They fight together and [[WonderTwinPowers are able to combine]] Dani's non-fighting skill and Manny's attack powers as long as they keep physical contact, allowing them to create a large array of duplicates that all fire the Ghostly Wail at once.
* CripplingOverspecialization: Manny invested all of his time into practicing his echo blasts and improving his raw strength and speed. As a result, when both of those fail him, he struggles to keep up in a fight as he's completely out of options otherwise.
* DamselInDistress: Dani was captured by [[spoiler:Drax]] as test subject.
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: Dani asks Junior to, "Take those filthy filths" (referring to his Nergal tentacles) off of her after he intervened in her quarrel with Manny.
* DirtyKid: Is instantly enamored with Mimi while staring at her bust.
* GenerationXerox: Dani acts like an extra snobbish Minnie towards others while Manny's behavior is reminiscent of Junior's own brattiness at the onset of Grim Tales. Both inherited their mother's ego while Manny in particular inherited [[spoiler:his father's preference for overwhelming force and perverted jokes.]] Not to mention the fact that their ghost powers came from none other than [[spoiler:Dan Phantom himself.]]
* GildedCage: The other reason behind they following Junior was they wanting to get out the castle they weren't allow to leave.
* GorgeousPeriodDress: In stark contrast to Junior's casual jeans-and-sweatshirt look and Mandy and Minnie's {{Stripperiffic}} outfits. Dani's in particular is very much alluding to Gothic Lolita culture.
* HalfHumanHybrid: [[spoiler: Since they come from Dark Danny]], they're half-human half-ghosts.
* HalfIdenticalTwins: Dani is the girl, Manny is the boy, having nearly identical facial features. Somewhat subverted in that they can be easily differentiated by their outfits and differing eye color (Manny has green eyes, Dani has red eyes).
* HatesBeingTouched: Dani, mostly because Junior uses his tentacles to do it. Manny too, mostly because of him being in [[GirlsHaveCooties "Girls Have Rabies"]] phase. To their chagrin, they have to overcome this (at least towards each other) to use their ghost powers at its fullest.
* IdiotHero: Manny. Granted, he's ''seven'', but he's as hot-blooded and bull-headed as any kid his age ought to be.
* InvisibleStreaker: Manny's first reaction to learning about his ability to turn invisible is this.
* JackOfAllTrades: Dani looked into the fine details of her ghostly powers, mastering intangibility, duplication, and invisibility. However, this means that her attacks aren't nearly as strong as Manny's and she gets overwhelmed when these tricks fail her.
* KidHero: Manny and Dani are just seven years old when they tail Junior in search of adventure.
* LovableSexManiac: Manny might be one of the youngest examples ever. He is a total pervert and can't help but stop to drool when confronted with a nice rack. In addition, his first thought about finding out that ghosts can turn invisible is to go streaking.
* MakeMeWannaShout: Manny's Ghostly Wail.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: The twins barely come up to Junior's waist but boast an impressive array of powers.
* PolarOppositeTwins: Manny is loud, brash, perverted, somewhat dim-witted, and puts all of his emphasis on [[DumbMuscle brute force and speed.]] Meanwhile, Dani is more reserved, speaks and acts with Victorian-era etiquette, [[WiseBeyondTheirYears is rather thoughtful and mature]] and invests her time refining her mastery of her individual ghost powers like duplication and intangibility.
* PrecociousCrush: [[AmazonianBeauty Mimi]] is a notable exception to Manny's GirlsHaveCooties rule.
* PowerDyesYourHair: Like their father, [[spoiler:Dan Phantom]], their hair turns white when Going Ghost.
* ProperLady: Very important to Dani as she seems to hate just about everything that's vaguely uncouth.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Dani.
* RedOniBlueOni: Manny's the hot-headed and impulsive red, while Dani's the smug, distant blue.
* SesquipedalianLoquaciousness: Dani speaks this way despite her young age, referring to her brother as an "infantismal blot"
* SilkHidingSteel: Because she lacks her other siblings' sheer battle powers, she comes across as this.
* {{Synchronization}}[=/=]TwinTelepathy: When Dani was under [[spoiler:Drax]]'s power, Manny could feel her pain miles away and track her.
* SmugSuper: Manny is pretty confident about his raw power up to the point that Empheles starts handing him his rear, upon which he finally swallows his pride and starts listening to Dani's advice. Dani herself has this as well, looking down upon her brother for not investing time into learning the fine details of his ghostly powers.
* ThemeTwinNaming: Their names are meant to rhyme with/be homophones for [[spoiler:their father, Dark Dan "Danny" Phantom.]]
* TheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: They're polar opposites in terms of temperament (outside of their egos) and bicker almost constantly, but hurt one and the other will be pissed.
* UnskilledButStrong[=/=]WeakButSkilled: Dani knows a lot about her non-combat powers such as intangibility, invisibility, and duplication, but seems to lack her brother's sheer strength. Manny is the exact opposite with barely any understanding of his non-combat powers, but he can already preform a Ghostly Wail and can unleash powerful ecto blasts at high speeds.
* WomenAreWiser: Unlike her twin, Dani thinks before acting.
* WonderTwinPowers: Dani and Manny can combine their powers by holding hands, allowing them to use their respective specialties (Manny's power and Dani's technical know-how) together in devastating combos like a Ghostly Wail fired by ten of their duplicates.
* WorthyOpponent: Dani seemed to show respect for Empheles, to the point of staring in shock after his core detonated.

[[folder: Allies and Extended Family]]

!! Clockwork
The temporal ghost from ''WesternAnimation/{{Danny Phantom}}''. Acts an an observer and guide to Junior during his spiritual trip. Hinted that he knew what was to come (he a ghost of time after all). Grim doesn't seem to like him much.

* TheChessmaster: [[spoiler:He manipulates events from behind the scenes alongside Nergal.]]
%%* PassThePopcorn
* SpiritAdvisor: To Junior for a time.

!! Dark Danny
WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom's evil future self from ''WesternAnimation/TheUltimateEnemy''. Clockwork released him in preparation for the coming events, with the threat that he'll erase him from existence (as D.D. exists outside of time now due to Danny's actions in the movie) if he gets out of line. Helps to fight against Minnie's monster form.

* AxCrazy: While demeanor seems to have mellowed slightly from his stay outside time, he's still a bloodthirsty CardCarryingVillain.
%%* AntiHero: Really just in it cause he has no choice.
* BigDamnHeroes: He shows up to help stop the Nergal Symbiote's rampage.
* '''JerkAss''': The biggest in the series. Though compared to how he acts here in the comic to how he was in the show, it's clear his imprisonment (and Clockwork's threat to erase him from existence) have greatly mellowed him out.
* KameHameHadoken: He blasts the Nergal Symbiote with a beam of green energy, destroying its pumpkin form
* MrFanservice: We see him shirtless quite a lot in ''What About Mimi?''
* SuperiorSuccessor: His reason for [[spoiler: doing it with Mandy. He wants a killing machine of his own after seeing what a berserk Junior was capable of. He might just get two.]]
* ThisIsForEmphasisBitch: Against the Demon Reaper after it repelled him with his own Ghostly Wail.
--> '''Dark Danny:''' It's payback time, ''bitch!''

!! Lord Pain
Grim's and Mandy's General and Leader of the Castle Guards. His real name is Charles. [[spoiler: He may actually be Junior's biological father. This is hinted at when he losses his helmet in What about Mimi as his face and Juniors look very similar.]]

* UndyingLoyalty: Both figuratively and physically as he won't die unless Grim lets him.
* CarryABigStick: His signature weapon is his mace.
* RealMenWearPink: Has tattoos of Mandy on his back (used to be of Grim but changed in the original series).

!! Nergal
An otherworldly creature who has relations to Grim and Mandy. Comes to help out when Minnie's monster form runs rampant. Also has bad blood with Grim. The one present though seems to just be a spiritual apparition connected to the real one.

* CallingTheOldManOut: To Grim [[spoiler: over how Junior was born.]]
* TheChessmaster: [[spoiler: He manipulates events from behind the scenes along with Clockwork.]]
* SpiritAdvisor: He occasionally shows up in spirit to offer Junior advice.

!! Nergal Jr.
Nergal's son, uncle to Junior and Minnie, and Minnie's true father. Also comes to help out the group against Minnie's monster form.

%%* BigDamnHeroes
* LovecraftianSuperpower: He can freely shape shift to form tentacles, eyes, and fanged mouths.
* LukeIAmYourFather: To Minnie, though she doesn't know it.

!! Her[=/=]Mimi
Him and Blossom's daughter. At first a voiceless and armless girl whom Junior meets while wandering a frozen tundra. [[spoiler: However this turned out to be a trap of Him to lure Junior to him. Once revealed, she transforms into a more devil like creature. She turns against Him and helps Junior and Minnie escape once [[MoralityPet Jeff]] is threatened.]]

* AmazonianBeauty: Junior and Manny think she's amazing. Minnie [[ClingyJealousGirl does not agree.]]
* BigDamnHeroes: In ''Afterbirth'', crushing a few monsters with a wrecking ball about to attack the ghost twins after they ran out of juice. Also counts as a DynamicEntry.
* BathsAreFun: Upon being brought to a warm, full bath in Junior's home, Mimi immediately discards her clothing and jumps right in, and is later seen splashing happily. [[spoiler: Justified because her last happy birthday was spent playing in a bathtub with Raven before her death by Him.]]
* BigSisterInstinct: In Afterbirth, she's quite motherly towards Dani and Manny, gently holding the former while pressing the latter tight against her bosom. She ''does'' unceremoniously drop Dani when girl starts complaining though.
* BodyHorror: Indeed, her human form definitely doesn't enjoy it.
* BreakTheCutie: Her entire past is this.
* BrokenBird: A very young example though.
* BroughtDownToNormal: She was separated from the entity of pure evil responsible for turning her into a demon.
* CombatPragmatist: Mimi is more than a little prone to not fight by the rules.
* CuteMonsterGirl: In her demon form.
* ElectiveMute: Chooses not to speak after all of the horror she's been put through.
* FightsLikeANormal: She does have powers but prefers to make use of her HyperspaceArsenal and skill in combat. She's good enough at it that she was able to singlehandedly infiltrate Castle Grim.
* FlyingBrick: Is strong enough to lift a house with one hand and can fly. [[spoiler: It comes from her [[WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls mom's]] side of the family]]
* GildedCage: The Nephilim. [[spoiler: It maximized the effectiveness of Mimi's precognitive abilities to stop meta-human crimes and protected her from all manner of attacks, but drained her in every way. She'd be completely helpless if separated from the machine. While Dexter didn't like it and [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] her position as a "caged bird", he kept her protected for the sake of the superhero community. This being Mimi's flashback, [[ForegoneConclusion we know how]] [[DownerEnding that turns out.]] ]]
* HeelFaceTurn: Even Him was surprised when she sided with Junior.
* HyperspaceArsenal: She can pull out [[NoodleImplements just about anything]] up to and including the kitchen sink from out of thin air, with some panels hinting her arsenal is concealed inside her skirt. In her fight against Mina. She pulls out a [[VisualPun steak and a hammer]], [[SerialEscalation then a garlic bread, then an entire freaking house]]!
* ImpliedLoveInterest: Grim Jr. seems to have a crush on her and she seems to like him, but nothing is clear yet.
* LittleMissBadass: A young girl who just happens to be Him's daughter, with all the power that entails.
%%* MarshmallowHell: To Manny.
* MissingMom: Because Him [[spoiler: made Mimi kill her.]]
* MoralityPet: Manny seems to had touched Mimi's tiny heart somehow, since she went to rescue the twins instead of going at Junior's aid at first. Also picked his cheek and give him a gratuitous MarshmallowHell.
* PoweredByAForsakenChild: [[spoiler: Before she became Her, Mimi's high-level telepathy meant that she was hooked up to a machine that magnified her abilities, making her a preliminary warning system for the heroes of the world whenever a meta-human was about to commit an evil act. The machine drained her physically, mentally and spiritually, which explains why she's wheelchair-bound and barely able to speak in her Hands of Horror-induced flashback.]]
* PuppyLove: A few panels suggest that she and Junior like each other. And they do have an AlmostKiss at one point, but this is never focused on.
* SelfMadeOrphan: In GTFO, it's revealed that ''she'' was the one who killed Blossom. Him has a picture of the event hanging in his office.
* SheIsAllGrownUp: In Afterbirth.
* SplitPersonality: Implied though never stated. Her human looking form seem rather innocent. [[spoiler: Her Him-like form is stoic and doesn't seem like she cares]]. Although it's worth mentioning that [[spoiler: even her demonic form is [[MoralityPet quite attached to Jeff]]]].
* SquishyWizard: [[spoiler: Played with. Pre-Her Mimi was/is a high-level telepath. The machine built to magnify her abilities left her physically crippled.]]
* SuccubiAndIncubi: She's a succubus who engages in TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior, to Jeff's constant consternation. In ''Afterbirth'', she fills out considerably, becoming a StatuesqueStunner.
* TheSymbiote: Her demonic form is evidently the result of her being bonded to an entity of pure evil that [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/re-collecting even Grim is leery of.]] [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/keep-out-of-reach-of-minnie It also seems attracted to Minnie.]]
* TooKinkyToTorture: [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/ironing-out-the-kinks This panel]] sure seems to point in that direction.
* TragicKeepsake: The gem on her forehead is actually [[spoiler:a Chakra gem that Raven promised her to give to her on her last birthday as a human but got killed before it. Jeff got it back and gave it to her.]]
* TurnOutLikeHisFather: Him implies that Mimi's mother also defied him. Her mother [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/mother-arrive is Blossom.]]
* TheVoiceless: While spoke while under the influence of [[spoiler: The Hand Of Horrors, she usually says nothing and is implied to have fallen mute after being tortured by Him.]]

!! Jeff the Spider
Billy's "son" and Mimi's nanny. Due to this he is at service of Him as he hopes Him can grant his wish of having his "father" love him. Despite this though, he still kind to a fault, which plays a role in Junior and Minnie's escape from Him.

* AnyoneCanDie: In the ''What About Mimi'' comic "Making Headway", a flashback is shown that Him decapitated Jeff right in front of Mimi. It might be a case of KillTheCutie}} if he weren't, you know, a giant spider.
* HeelFaceTurn: He was always a nice guy, so this came as no surprise.
* MagicalNanny: To Mimi.
* OffWithHisHead: Him decapitates Jeff as punishment for helping Junior escape.
* WellDoneSonGuy: Part of the reason [[spoiler: he's serving Him]].

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Villains]]
It is somewhat difficult to distinguish between 'heroes' and 'villains' at this point, as almost all of the currently active characters are despicable in some way or another. Junior, Jeff and ironically Death represent rare exceptions to this rule.

!! Lock, Shock and Barrel
The resident mischief makers of Halloween Town as well as Ooogie's minions. They befriend Junior while he mucking around by himself, who would later go on to explain how his parents got together to the three. However the whole thing is a trap to lure Junior to Oogie so he can take Junior hostage. [[spoiler: The plan almost works, but they don't expect Minnie to come to Junior's rescue nor Oogie actually murdering her. And ''especially'' don't expect Junior gaining Minnie's powers and using it to rip out their souls.]]

* BrattyHalfPint: They're kids, and they're really annoying at that.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: They didn't expect that [[spoiler: Oogie was going to ''murder'' Minnie.]]
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Judging by their expressions when things hit the fan. They didn't really expect Ooogie to [[spoiler: actully kill Minnie.]]

!! Ooogie Boogie
A evil resident of Halloween Town who is trying gain the title of the most scariest creature. However upon hearing that the Grims were in Halloween Town he changes his plans to try to usurp his position by kidnapping Junior and holding him hostage. Minnie comes to his rescue instead and easily handles Ooogie [[spoiler: But thanks to Junior's callousness at being rescued by her, it gives Ooogie time to catch Minnie off guard and kill her. This however had the repercussion of Junior gaining her powers and using it to absolutely annihilate Ooogie.]]

* KarmicDeath: [[spoiler: He wanted the power of Grim, he got it.]]

!! Him[=/=]Kare
The second baddie that Junior comes across (this time during his spiritual trip) and one of the [[WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls PPG's toughest foes]]. He too is also after the power of the Grim family since he is at odds with them for the position for the underworld. As such he takes over Minnie's spirit and tries to use her to kill Junior. Things don't exactly go as planned however. When that plan goes south, he sends his daughter Mimi into the Grim family household to retrieve something for him which was revealed to the Hand of Horrors (as seen in the B&M movie ''The Big Boogie Adventure'').

* AbusiveParents: He cut off his own daughter's hands. And in the [=WhAM=] comic, [[spoiler: he then beheads Jeff in front of her and threatens to torment his soul if she doesn't do what he says.]] Taken even further in the GTFO comic. [[spoiler: Before he cut her hands off, he made her ''kill her own mother''.]]
* AdaptationalBadass: Him was no pushover before, but he was often too preoccupied to become and overwhelming threat to the Powerpuff Girls. Here he wipes out ''every protagonist in Cartoon Network history virtually single-handedly'' with the exception of Mandy and Grim.
* AdaptationalSexuality: Kind of. In the original series, Him's attire and speech pattern was more feminine and is CampGay. The web comic version dresses more masculine and is willing to physically do his own dirty work.
* BadIsGoodAndGoodIsBad: He said to his daughter that if she betrayed him for selfish and petty reasons, he would've been proud.
%%* BigBad: for the entire series.
* CoolShades: Part of Bleed's envision of him.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: Like how he is in canon.
* ManipulativeBastard: Uses Minnie's feeling for Junior and twists it into hate. Huh, [[Franchise/StarWars sounds familiar]].
* NoSell: Took a freaking grenade with the power of a nuke and didn't do jack to him.
* OneWingedAngel: After getting nuked, he turns up [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/big-daddy in a horrifically monstrous form]].
* {{Satan}}: He and his realm are an analogue to Satan and Hell, although at one point he claims "neither Lucifer nor God will get in my way," so somewhat ambiguous.
* ShoutOut: He sounds a bit like [[{{Film/Gladiator}} Commodus]] in [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/the-claw-that-feeds-you this page?]]
* TookALevelInBadass: Definitely not the fufu villain the PPG faced.
* WeCanRuleTogether: Offers it to Junior and of course is refused.

!! Boogieman
The Boogieman from ''WesternAnimation/TheGrimAdventuresOfBillyAndMandy''. Partners with Drax.

* AffablyEvil: Until [[VillainousBreakdown he gets angry.]]
* BigBadDuumvirate: With Drax.
* HostageForMacguffin: Tries to exchange Minnie for Grim's scythe. Didn't work.
* OneWingedAngel: After being betrayed by Minnie, he transforms into a monstrous form.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: While the women of the family tend to be waaaay more powerful, he forgets that, at the end of the day, Junior and by extenstion Grim, is ''still'' [[TheGrimReaper a Reaper]].

!! Drax
A human with a genius-level intellect. Partners with Boogieman.

* BigBadDuumvirate: With Boogieman in ''Afterbirth''.
* EvilGenius: [[spoiler: It's evil Dexter, what did you expect?]]
* FallenHero: His real identity is [[spoiler:Dexter from ''Dexter's Laboratory''. Or Dexter's MirrorUniverse counterpart, at any rate.]]
* GoodScarsEvilScars: Big ol' evil one over his left eye.
* MirrorUniverse: Comes from one. [[spoiler: He's Dexter's counterpart from the Powerpunk Girls' world.]]
* PsychopathicManchild: Berates Empheles by calling him stupid over and over, which proves to be his downfall as it gave Dani and Manny enough time to set up a devastating Duplication + Ghostly Wail CombinationAttack.
* ShoutOut: To ''Powerpuff Girl Doujinshi'', [[spoiler:his "supposed" death is a scene for scene parallel of Mandark's.]] Talk about irony.
* TakingYouWithMe: Attempts to do this with Dani and Manny.

!! Empheles
A Basilican revived by Drax with cybernetics. Follows orders from Boogieman and Drax.

* AntiVillain: He is only following his masters' orders.
%%* {{Cyborg}}
%%* GracefulLoser
* LegionsOfHell: Was a member of Lucifer's army.
%%* NobleDemon: Literally.
* SelfDestructMechanism: Has one built in. Drax triggers it.
* WorthyOpponent: Considers this of the children after they defeat him.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Others]]

!! Irwin

The nerdy friend of Billy and Mandy. Is shown in Mimi's flashback as one of the few last heroes left on Earth thanks to being half-mummy and half-vampire.

%%* HalfHumanHybrid
* NeckSnap: How Him kills him after forcing him to transform into his regular bat form.
* PosthumousCharacter: He's been dead for years before the series started.
* TookALevelInBadass: He really bulked himself up over the years.

!! Hoss Delgato

A renegade monster hunter. Sometimes friend, sometime enemy of Grim, Billy and Mandy. He too is shown in Mimi's flashback as one of the last remnants of Earth's heroes.

* ArtificialLimbs: His right arm was already artificial. His future self gains a prosthetic leg. A ''chainsaw'' one.
%%* ChainsawGood
%%* EyepatchOfPower
%%* HeroicSacrifice]]
%%* PosthumousCharacter
* TakingYouWithMe: Grapples onto Him and pulls a grenade calling for Raven teleport them away from the battleground [[spoiler:where all three are caught in the explosion. Seeing how this is a flashback, it obviously didn't work.]]

!! [[WesternAnimation/TeenTitans Raven]]
According to Mimi's flashback, she was part of Megaville's last line of heroes alongside [[WesternAnimation/TheGrimAdventuresOfBillyAndMandy Irwin and Hoss Delgado]], and plays an important role as Mimi's chief caretaker.

* AbusiveParents: Knows Him is planning to use his own daughter as a tool to his evil plans. He doesn't deny it, and compares it to how [[CrossesTheLineTwice her own father used her]] [[ApocalypseMaiden as a portal.]]
* BackStab: How Him stopped her initial attack on the golem.
* BadlyBatteredBabysitter: ZigZagged. Mimi gets her good during the birthday party food fight, but unlike most babysitters, Raven has ''no'' problem [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/world-war-pastries returning it in kind]] to her charge.
* BerserkButton: If you watched the [[WesternAnimation/TeenTitans animated series]], you know that bringing up her father is a real sore subject for Raven, as Him clearly [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/the-right-tool demonstrates]].
** Trying to harm or take Mimi away, also a [[MamaBear bad idea.]]
%%* DeathByCameo
* EyeScream: Gave the lava golem [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/mommas-gonna-help-you-out one heck of a shiner]] when it tried to take Mimi.
* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: Gives Mimi a ''verbal'' slap to the face when she's crying for her mother [[WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls Blossom]] to be at her birthday party. YMMV on whether it's justified, given what [[{{Woobie}} Mimi]] [[GildedCage endures]] [[PoweredByAForsakenChild the rest of the time]].
---> '''Raven''': HEY! THAT'S ENOUGH OF THAT! Your mom's busy trying to keep the world safe, which entails that she's out there trying to keep ''you'' safe! So get that through your head and stop throwing a fit like a spoiled little brat! You're a year older already, so grow up!
---> '''Mimi''': *Fiery DeathGlare*
* HeroicBSOD: Has one after Him [[NeckSnap kills]] Irwin and tosses him at her feet.
* HeroicSacrifice: She sacrifices herself along with Hoss to kill Him. [[SenselessSacrifice It didn't work]].
* HonorBeforeReason: Him offered Raven a chance to join his side so she can take care of Mimi while he handles his "hectic schedule". Raven knows what his plans for Mimi are if she surrenders and succinctly tells Him off.
* LikeASonToMe: Given what she's [[AbusiveParents been]] [[ApocalypseMaiden through]], it's no real surprise that Raven became so attached to Mimi. She protected her just as much as any real MamaBear would.
* MamaBear: More like a surrogate MamaBear, but just as vicious in defending Mimi, as the lava golem found out [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/the-golems-greeting here.]]
%%* PosthumousCharacter
* RedHerring: When she first appeared in the comic, Raven seemed like one of the most obvious contender's as Mimi's mother (Mimi's quiet demeanor, [[HistoryRepeats being the daughter of a devil]],the similar hairstyle). Added that Mimi only started to call for her mother as soon as Raven was hurt. A few pages later Raven outright confirms that this isn't the case and Mimi's real mother arrives on scene. This is [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] in the comic itself.
* ShesAllGrownUp: Well in the original Teen Titans comics she was already well into this. But seeing as this is based on the TV series where she was about 13-14, it counts.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: It's Raven, so this normally goes without saying, but the contrast between her snarky food fight with Mimi and cleaning the girl up, admitting she was NotSoAboveItAll, and giving loving words of encouragement about Jeff certainly [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/no-bubbles-in-the-tub exemplifies this]].
* TragicKeepsake: A gold pendant, because she wasn't able to get Mimi that ruby necklace she wanted to. Mimi wears it on her forehead as a chakra gem.

!! Blossom

The mother of Mimi and former leader of the ''Powerpuff Girls'', briefly seen in a flashback in ''What About Mimi''.

* ActionMom: She's still a superhero and a mother.
* BadassLongcoat: Wears labcoat that functions as one.
* BigDamnHeroes: Shows up to slice a lava golem to save her daughter.
* DeathByCameo: Chi has a vision that is heavily implied to be Blossom's brutal last moments before she's killed, by ''Mimi'', no less.
* PosthumousCharacter: She's long dead since the start of ''Grim Tales''.
* ShesAllGrownUp: [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/mother-arrive Seriously just look at her]].

!! Dexter

Blossom's husband and Mimi's stepfather. He's briefly seen in a flashback in ''Further Orientation''.

* AbusiveDad: Of the gender-inverted WickedStepmother variety. Although he isn't really cruel to Mimi, Dexter is noticeably cold and distant to his stepdaughter. From what is shown about him, he treats Mimi pretty much like a tool for her precognitive powers and is basically confiding her away in the lab, although as to not let any villains kidnap or telepathically kill her. According to General Specific, he isn't protecting Mimi from the world, but the world ''from'' her if HIM were to ever gets his claws on her.
* BlackSpeech: Dexter's speech bubbles are black squares with a calculator-like text design, which probably meant that his voice has become robotic and computer-like, as he is clearly shown to be a cyborg.
* {{Cyborg}}: Both of his arms are mechanicalized, along with an unspecified amount on his upper torso to where his voice is also electronic.
* GoodIsNotNice: He may be a hero, but his treatment of Mimi isn't exactly kind of what one would call kind.
* [[spoiler:PosthumousCharacter: He's long dead since the start of ''Grim Tales''.]]

!! [[WesternAnimation/MinaAndTheCount Mina Harper]]

Young ward and friend of Count Vlad, now a vampire-in-training after being bitten by him, [[spoiler: but apparently not by choice]]. [[spoiler: Signed a contract with Him and fought Mimi in a battle where winning would mean she regained her human life/soul, but lost and forfeited the Count's castle according to Him's terms.]]

* BrokenPedestal: Considering the [[WesternAnimation/MinaAndTheCount main series]] where she practically adored Vlad as a child, him turning her into a vampire against her will has certainly disillusioned her over the years.
* CallingTheOldManOut: With a touch of WhatTheHellHero, when she calls out Vlad on turning her into a vampire against her will and trying to gloss it over by training and teaching her his ways, thinking she'd forget about her old life.
* CurbStompBattle: Despite Mina pulling out a number of impressive transformations during the fight, Mimi pretty much had her number from the start.
* DeathSeeker: Mina wants her humanity to be restored, and failing that to die.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Appears in [[spoiler: ''[=AfterBirth=]'' as one of the children killed by the Boogyman.]]
* FateWorseThanDeath: Mina feels this way about being a vampire. [[BloodLust Having to feed on human essence]], [[GildedCage essentially imprisoned in the Count's castle]], and [[TheAgeless living forever in her undead, seven-year old body]]? She would've preferred the Count leaving her for dead instead of turning her.
* KickTheDog: Implied by Him that even ''if'' Mina had won, it would take something far more valuable than a "rundown, old castle" to restore her human life...another human life for instance.
* MakingASplash: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]]. Her "mist powers" come from her vampire half.
* OurVampiresAreDifferent: Played straight in terms of the qualities of a vampire that Vlad has. She has his strengths (Transformation, immortality, flight, etc.) and his weaknesses (Garlic, aversion to sunlight, need for life sustenance, etc.).
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Played straight during the fight with Mimi, but inverted while confronting the Count about her immortality; [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/argument-with-the-vampire the latter]] is less evil and more a mix of frustration and sadness, tinted slightly by anger.
* TheAgeless: Not necessarily [[Really700YearsOld 700 years old]], but Mina's been stuck in the undead body of a seven-year old long enough that's it made her yearn for human life again.
%%* TroubledButCute
* UnwantedRescue: Whatever the accident was that forced the Count to make Mina a vampire, Mina felt it would've been better if he had just let her die.
* WhoWantsToLiveForever: Mina's in the same state as Minnie, [[TheUndead undead]] and [[TheAgeless unable to grow up]]. It drives her enough to risk Vlad's castle/home in a fight with Mimi where her winning would mean getting her human life back. [[spoiler: She loses.]]
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: Part of her power set that usually seen with the classical vampires. She can change into a wolf, mist and a bat from what was seen.

!! Count Vlad

The {{Dracula}} {{Expy}} of WesternAnimation/MinaAndTheCount fame, who now resides in the Underworld with Mina as his vampire ward. [[spoiler:Not necessarily by her choice.]]

* TheAtoner: Tried to do everything he could to acclimate Mina to his lifestyle after turning her against his better judgment, but found out he couldn't give her everything [[IJustWantToBeNormal she wanted...]]
* EldritchAbomination: [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/sign-language Turns into one]] when Mimi threatens more harm to Mina following their fight.
%%* OurVampiresAreDifferent
* PapaWolf: ''Do not'' try to kick Mina when she's down.
* SinisterSchnoz: Well, even though he's a FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire, he's still got [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/real-estate-crash quite the schnozzola.]]
* WhatTheHellHero: He scolds Mina like a bad child for going behind his back by wagering his castle in the fight with Mimi, only to have it turned around on him by Mina, who calls him out for treating her like a child when [[Really700YearsOld she's anything but]] and turning her into a vampire at a young age, more or less against her will. Of course she's accounting from her perspective, for all we know it might have been an EmergencyTransformation.

!! [[WesternAnimation/AdventureTime Hunson Abadeer]]

Marceline's "death-less" dad and friend/associate of Him/[[spoiler:Kare]].

* BreadEggsMilkSquick
--> '''Abadeer''': A birthday party with all the trimmings, balloons, cake...
--> '''Jeff''': Yes, yes!
--> '''Abadeer''': [[BestKnownForTheFanservice And strippers]].
--> '''Jeff''': Uh... yeah... Mr. Abadeer, Mimi's a girl and-
--> '''Abadeer''': [[ComicallyMissingThePoint Male strippers then.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Played straight and subverted in a sense. Hunson feels Him "really messed up" Mimi, but understands that he's preparing her for the "family business" like Hunson has tried to do with Marceline.
* {{Understatement}}: After verbalizing all of Mimi and Him's "actions" in the office photos, including Him making Mimi ''kill her own mother'', Hunson makes one ''for the century.''
--> '''Abadeer''': You really messed her up.

!! Chi

[[WesternAnimation/SamuraiJack Aku's]] daugther, princess of City of Aku and a very close friend of Mimi.

* BerserkButton: Mimi, how dare you ignore Chi and make her ''wait!''
* BigEater: Given how much food she eats. One comic has her make several orders of Aku burgers, which is basically a large-sized Big Mac with lots of bacon and cheese.
* [[GirlsHaveCooties Boys Have Cooties]]: Her opinion of boys, and says "Boys and girls don't match!!"
* ClingyJealousGirl: Over Mimi.
* CuteLittleFangs: Normally, though when she's angry her teeth grow into enormous fangs.
* CuteMonsterGirl: An adorable girl who just happens to be Aku's daughter.
* DaddysLittleVillain: She's daughter of Aku and it's hinted she'll become the BigBad of this new chapter, or that her search for Mimi will bring Aku out of retirement.
%%* DaddysGirl
* ExoticEyeDesigns: Her pupils are shaped like green gears.
* FieryRedhead[=/=]EvilRedhead: Definitely has a temper, as both Him and Demongo have experienced first-hand. The "evil" part has yet to be fully determined.
* FlashbackCut: Experiences one as she gazes into the portrait of Blossom and Mimi. Horrifically subverted, as it's not a memory of Chi's, but a rather shocking vision of Blossom's final moments (from her POV, no less) before dying at the hands of her tear-stricken daughter. [[spoiler:Hinting at her maybe being a reincarnated Blossom.]]
* GameFace: Her shapeshifting powers are triggered when she's [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/chi really mad]].
** FangsAreEvil
* GratuitousJapanese: Sometimes throws some random Japanese in her speech. She even once texted an e-mail to Mimi completely in hiragana.
* IdolSinger: With Mimi [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/chapter-9-begins being her fan]].
* InvoluntaryShapeshifting: Her powers are still developing, so she only can shapeshift when she's feeling a powerful emotion, like rage.
* LittleMissBadass: [[spoiler: Actually shot at Him]].
* MarryForLove: Loves Mimi enough to ask her father permission to ask for her claw, despite her position as heiress and therefore, duty of marry for political advance.
-->'''Chi:''' "I don't care about those idiots, I only care about ''Mimi''!"
* MesACrowd: She's able produce a clone of herself, but she has to stab herself to do so.
* {{Nepotism}}: She's the face of every product's ad, as she's the daughter of the City's leader.
* PrincessesPreferPink: Wears a lot of pink.
* SelfServingMemory: She remembers her rescue and the beginnings of her relationship with Mimi a little [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/playing-with-yourself-2 differently]].
* SpoiledBrat: She's arrogant and self-entitled.
%%* RichBitch
* {{Reincarnation}}: A POV flashback hints that Chi might be the reincarnation of Blossom, which may explain her feelings for Mimi. Aku at one point even refers to her as his/her [[WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls "Blossoming, Bubbly little Buttercup"]]
* StalkerWithACrush: Sends ''405'' messanges to Mimi and ''is'' waiting for a reply.
* {{Stripperiffic}}: She at one point wears [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/i-killed-an-ewok-to-look-this-good the Princess Leia slave girl outfit]].
%%* [[UglyGuysHotDaughter The Ugly Guy's Cute Daughter]]
* UnusualEars: Her lower horns function as ears.
* UnusualEyebrows: Has great flaming eyebrows. Inherited from daddy.
* WomanScorned[=/=]PsychoExGirlfriend: Though we don't know how...''close'' they were, Chi seems to have an insane thing for Mimi and went crazy just for the thought of Mimi seeing someone else when she didn't reply to any of her 405 messages.
* {{Yandere}}: She's a PsychoLesbian for Mimi to the point that she threatens to tear apart anyone who lays so much as a hand on Mimi.

!! Aku

[[WesternAnimation/SamuraiJack Shapeshifting Master of Darkness]] and father of Chi. Aku controls the City of Aku having retired from world domination.

* AntagonistInMourning: He tells Him that he misses "[[WesternAnimation/SamuraiJack the samurai]]", and it's implied that the Japanese architecture and culture of Aku City is his own way of paying tribute to his most worthy foe.
* TheDreaded: Is still feared and respected despite his inactivity.
* {{Egopolis}}: Aku City.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Makes funny faces for Chi to cheer her up after scolding her.
* GoodParents: Aku, unexpectedly, is a decent parent towards Chi in comparation to [[AbusiveParents Him]] and [[ParentalNeglect Abadeer]]. He's even a better ''mother'' when gender flipped into a woman than Mandy is.
* GenderBender: Thanks to VoluntaryShapeshifting, he has a [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/words-from-big-daddy-wait-wut female form]] which he uses whenever he feels [[https://www.snafu-comics.com/grimtales/in-unholy-matrimony Chi needs to talk to a mother figure]]. Even going as far as being called "mother" and "Lady" when he's in that form.
* [[GreenSkinnedSpaceBabe Green-Skinned Demon Babe]]: His GenderBender form.
* UnusualEyebrows: He has great flaming eyebrows.
* LargeHam: Even in written form.
* KimonoFanservice: His female form wears a very [[SexyBacklessOutfit back]] and [[ImpossiblyLowNeckline cleavage revealing one]].
* KimonoIsTraditional: Notably his normal form is clothed now rather than being a pure black figure.
* OpenMindedParent: He shows acceptance towards his daughter's romantic preferences, but he is still hesitating to give her the "Okay" due to political reasons and whether Him is consenting to the proposal or not.
* RetiredMonster: He doesn't actively work against the mortal world anymore.
* SacredHospitality: Is a gracious host whenever Him arrives, welcoming the demon to his hot springs and to drink sake.
* SituationalSexuality: Implied to have had a ''physical'' history with [[spoiler:Him/Kare]], especially in his female form.
%%* VoluntaryShapeshifting

!! Demongo

One of Aku's former elite henchmen. After being defeated by Jack, he was left powerless and is now nothing more then a floating head given to Chi as a assistant as punishment for his failure.

* AmusingInjuries: Suffers many at the hands of Chi.
* ButtMonkey: He has to endure being used as Chi's stress ball.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: Not to a huge extent but he has a little power to do this.
