Rex is a charming teenager with a sharp sense of humor and a thirst for adventure (at least, if you ask him). He is living the dream as the point man of a high-powered super-spy team and is amazed by the weird world he's a part of, and most definitely digs the spotlight as Providence's weapon of choice. It's like being a super-powered rock star, most of the time. Like any teen, there's a lot going on with Rex that keeps him awake at night – mainly the amnesia that's robbed him of his past. He can't remember anything beyond the few months before joining Providence because they promised to help him learn where he comes from. He is driven toward any clues that might help unlock his memories or better understand and master the strange but wonderful machines banging around inside of him.
----
* AdaptationDyeJob: Blonde in the original comics; black-haired in the cartoon.
* AllLovingHero: For all the jerkassery he is capable of, Rex always does his best to help and save the people around him.
* AllTheOtherReindeer: Has shades of this in the early episodes, most prominently in the pilot episode, given his heartbroken look when the kids he thought he made friends called him a freak and laughed.
* AmnesiacDissonance: Before his most recent memory loss, he was a self-centered {{Jerkass}} thug who betrayed his best friends out of convenience. After, he's still a jerk but is willing to risk his life for people he doesn't know all the time.
* AntiHero:
** It's pretty unquestionable that at heart he's a good person, but he's also prone to reckless and selfish behavior that can land him in trouble.
** As of episode 20, this might even be starting to drift into a subversion of SaveTheVillain. [[spoiler: Though the villain in question survives, Rex does nothing to intervene, and actually leaves him with both of his robotic arms ripped off on top of a speeding truck heading for a cliff.]]
** He does it again in episode 35, [[spoiler:where he trades Quarry for Circe to Breach since Breach needs to bring back a traitor/failure to appease Van Kleiss about her own slip-up earlier that episode. Rex knew he was pretty much dooming Quarry and did so anyway. When Quarry comes back, Rex outright wonders how he even survived the experience.]] Notable because there was clearly a more lawful and less violent solution that by all rights Rex would normally be ''required'' to take if he was being held accountable. In other words, Rex went out of his way to royally screw an enemy over, possibly to his death, even after said enemy had surrendered and the mission was over.
* ArtisticAge: The fact that he is only 15 came as a bit of a surprise to some viewers; many assumed he was 20-ish.
* AscendedFanboy: He is a big fan of soap operas. He became part of his favorite series in the events of the Phantom soap opera episode.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: He is apparently consciously aware of the angles and trajectories his ranged weapons need to hit moving targets (Which requires knowledge of Differential Calculus level math at least, although the show only makes mention of Trigonometry).
* BatmanGambit: Rex manages to pull one of these in "Alliance", [[spoiler:exploiting Van Kleiss' need to have him alive to turn No-Face, who wants Rex dead, against Van Kleiss.]]
** Done again in episode 35 [[spoiler: He got a recording of Breach spilling way too many details to Quarry in order for her to have to trade Quarry for Circe, who she had captured.]]
* BrilliantButLazy: Turns out Rex is actually quite the math prodigy.
** {{Justified|Trope}} due to his use of geometry in using his Slam Cannon, as explained in show.
** There were actually indications early on that Rex had some knowledge of electrical engineering and that he had to design his weapons himself.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: He's apparently a competent ''espionage'' agent in the field, despite blatantly disregarding procedure, and outing himself at the drop of a hat. His WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer mentality tends to make it a somewhat viable approach, though his natural charisma is also helpful.
** Another instance: in "Alliance" he's able to turn two major enemy factions against each other, create internal strife in one faction, and thwart the villains' plans, seemingly all for kicks (his primary objective being something entirely separate). He does this while [[ThirdPersonPerson narrating]] his every action, even during stealth, and he arbitrarily [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere quits]] once he gets the two factions fighting.
** Later episodes do show him being a well-behaved and competent field operative, usually when infiltrating enemy bases.
* ChickMagnet: Rex has drawn the attention of Circe, Breach, Annie, Cricket, a high ranking Green Fist eco-terrorist, Dr. Holiday's kid sister, and a random delivery girl. All of them have shown varying amounts of [[ShipTease interest]] in Rex.
* ChivalrousPervert: To an extent. He'll hit on women he barely knows, but he's more delicate around anyone he's actually interested in or respects.
* CharacterDevelopment: Evident in "Alliance", where he acknowledges his attraction to Circe without it being an issue, whereas in earlier episodes it was a clear distraction. By "Hard Target", he's alright with her dating someone else [[spoiler:(she isn't)]]--the bigger issue is the ensuing threes-a-crowd dynamic.
* DashingHispanic: [[spoiler:He's half-Argentinan, half-Mexican. The "Dashing" part is a bit up for debate.]]
* DeadpanSnarker: Coupled with an inability to take anything seriously. Rex is constantly joking, and the more dire and serious things get, the more he dials up the snark. At times, it can get to the point where it seems to be a coping mechanism more than anything else. Which is confirmed in "Heroes United".
* DestructiveSavior: Rex at one point defends his work by saying that he protects people and property, only to quickly amend that he doesn't do as much of the latter.
* {{Determinator}}: He doesn't give up easily, to put it lightly.
* DivideAndConquer: He has a great talent for getting his enemies tangled up in each other's plans.
* DualWielding: Averted with his builds outside of using both Smackhands at once--he'd always just rapidly switch between them. Finally lampshaded by [[LaserGuidedAmnesia Six]] in "Crash and Burn" who wondered why Rex never did this trope... [[spoiler: Rex has no idea why, and does in the next race by using both the Slam Cannon and the BFS while on the Rex Ride. It turns out he'd just ''assumed'' he could only do one build at a time.]]
* FaceDeathWithDignity: Quite possibly the only time Rex ever drops the attitude [[spoiler:is when he and Breach are about to be swallowed by a time portal. Once he realizes there's nothing anyone can do, he just shuts up and hugs Breach.]]
* FusionDance: with [[WesternAnimation/{{Ben 10}} Ben Tennyson]] as [[SuperEmpowering Upgrade]] in ''WesternAnimation/Ben10GeneratorRexHeroesUnited''.
* GogglesDoNothing: Averted. Whenever Rex makes a jetpack or hoverbike, the goggles come in handy.
** GogglesDoSomethingUnusual: In "Double Vision" his regular goggles are replaced with a more high-tech pair ([[OutOfOrder previously hinted at in "Heroes United"]]) with advanced functions like heat vision, nanite vision, microscopic zoom, and a targeting computer.
* GoodIsNotDumb: On the surface, he's goofy, self-obsessed, clumsy, and idealistic. However, he's pragmatic when facing foes, and has a keen strategic mind. He's also accomplished enough as a mathematician to consciously apply principles of math and science in combat.
* GratuitousSpanish: And NotEvenBotheringWithTheAccent. Both in-universe and out, as well. He does have amnesia, after all.
** To elaborate, he's ethnically Hispanic, but born in Geneva, Switzerland and raised around the globe. César notes how he always tried to speak Spanish, with hilarious results.
** And then lampshaded by Holiday declaring that Rex needs Spanish lessons.
* IdiotHero: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted.]] Despite his TotallyRadical mannerisms and eccentric behavior, Rex, while not the smartest guy, definitely isn't dumb, and has played [[BatmanGambit Batman]] [[XanatosSpeedChess Speed Chess]] with the big bad on several occasions. Also, he's a highly advanced student of mathematics and seems to have a working knowledge of his weapons mechanics.
* KidHero: He's 15-years-old at the start of the series.
* HeroicBSOD: In "The Hunter" and at the end of "Assault on Abysus" and "Mind Games".
* HealingFactor: He has a slow one, taking days or weeks to heal serious injuries, putting him in a coma in the meanwhile.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Noah.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: Sort of. Rex loves the action of fighting [=EVOs=], but normal life as compared to life working for Providence holds a lot of appeal for him. Basically, he'd prefer if Evo-busting was just his day job.
* InTheBlood: [[spoiler: Rex pre-amnesia had {{Jerkass}} ManipulativeBastard tendencies, to the point of sociopathically double-crossing "friends" of his. Now, consider how little Cesar seems to be inhibited by little things such as "morals"...]]
* JerkassRealization: After pushing away Noah's attempts to fix things, when he learns he is White's spy, he is taken aback when Holiday lets him know he actually forced him, and laments the way he treated Noah.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: While he can be brash and abrasive, he does have a heart.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: A chronic ailment, evidently. Periodically, his memory gets wiped, though it's never shown to happen during the time the series takes place. Possibly a side-effect of his nanites. [[spoiler: He breaks out of it in the finale, seemingly.]]
* LikesOlderWomen: 15-year-old Rex really likes hitting on Doc Holiday who is 28, even after he falls for a girl his own age, though it switches to semi-teasing after that.
* MadeOfIron: Even without his constructs to protect him, he's inhumanly durable, being able to (for instance) withstand oceanic pressures that would crush even specifically marine-adapted [=EVOs=].
* ManipulativeBastard: A heroic example. When he needs to be.
* MoralityPet: It's implied Rex is this for Six in "Promises, Promises", as he's the one that fought tooth and nail to get him on the team.
** Officially proven in "Divide By Six" where he said the main reason he never succeeded One was because he met Rex.
** [[spoiler:Even after he loses his memories, Rex ends up as this to him because he trusts Six so much.]]
** [[ShootTheDog ...And yet,]] it's also flat-out stated that if Rex's PhlebotinumOverload hits SuperpoweredEvilSide levels, it's Six's job to kill him.
*** [[spoiler:He's told to do just that at the start of "Six Minus Six" since the machine was putting Rex in danger of turning back into that mecha again. Six chose to attack the machine instead, which gave him six years of memory loss.]]
* MrFanservice: He has had numerous [[ShirtlessScene Shirtless Scenes]] showing that he is as [[HeroicBuild ripped]] as Ben and Kevin from sister show ''WesternAnimation/Ben10AlienForce''.
** Examples include a [[ShowerScene Shower Scene]], a [[BathtubScene Bathtub Scene]], a [[BeachEpisode Beach Episode]], at least two [[AfterActionPatchUp After Action Patch Ups]], and wearing only pajama shorts or boxer shorts as pajamas.
** Other noteworthy examples include [[SleepsInTheNude waking up in a hospital bed completely nude]] only wearing a [[ModestyBedsheet Modesty Bedsheet]], then changing into a [[LabcoatOfScienceAndMedicine labcoat]] [[GoingCommando with nothing underneath]] after his clothes were quarantined showcasing his nice legs, and later in the series finale being forced to fight off intruders while only wearing a [[ModestyTowel Modesty Towel]].
* MysteriousPast: So mysterious, not even he knows the full extent of it. In fact, he knows less than several other characters.
* NighInvulnerable: He never actually gets a scratch on him, and internal damage is very rarely implied despite the frequently ''extreme'' blunt force trauma he normally goes through. Crush-depth pressure doesn't phase him, either.
* NoListeningSkills: He can be too stubborn to listen and does the opposite what everyone tells him. For example, in "Lockdown", when he learns Noah is a spy of White Knight, when the former tries to tell him the full story and that he wants to be his friends, he ignores it, accusing him of fully decieve him, snubbing him, and telling him to go away, instead of hearing him out. In "What Lies Behind", when he learns that what he needs to do to save Abysus is to revive Van Kleiss, he refuses to listen to Circe when she tries to tell him he needs him too, not only Van Kleiss, and destroys the machine. When Dr. Holiday tries to reason he has to revive him because he is to only one to control his own kingdom, he reminds stubborn about it. In the crossover with Franchise/Ben10, when Ben tries to tell him he is no menace and why he is on another world, he ignores it, accusing him of being the bad guy and villifies him, rather than hearing him out. In the two-part series Finale "Endgame", when Cesar tries to tell him why he is needed to control the God Nanite, he ignores it, accusing him of betraying him, and ends up pushing him away, rather than hearing him out.
* OneWingedAngel: [[spoiler: Heroic example. In "Endgame", Rex becomes a blue-colored robotic giant from the power of the Omega Nanite in order to combat the combined form of The Consortium. The only difference? He is thankfully in full control of himself unlike the first time he was a giant E.V.O.]]
* PersonOfMassDestruction: From what is seen, it might be deconstructed with Rex. Despite being the only thing capable of curing [=EVOs=] and pretty powerful, the higher-ups are more concerned with him doing his job rather than going rogue and Rex just wants to have a bit of normality in his life instead of being caged up like some animal.
* PhlebotinumOverload: Rex's PowerNullifier ability works by absorbing their nanites. If he absorbs too many, it's not pretty.
* PowerNullifier: He can "shut down" other [=EVOs=], permanently reverting them to human form. Unfortunately for him, some [=EVOs=] are incurable.
* PsychoactivePowers: If Rex loses confidence, his constructs begin to malfunction and may fall apart.
* RaceLift: In the original ''M. Rex'' comic, he was a blonde kid; Here, he's a Latino teenager.
* RealMenWearPink: He really likes watching [[SoapOpera telenovelas]].
* RedIsHeroic: Wears a red jacket as his main outfit.
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Six and Noah's blue.
* RequiredSecondaryPowers: MadeOfIron, to be specific. He gets thrown through lots of things that a normal person really shouldn't get up from being thrown through. It's later made clear that he has SuperToughness bordering on being NighInvulnerable.
** He's also inhumanely agile; probably one of the most agile characters on the show (given the cast full of JustForFun/{{Egregious}} CharlesAtlasSuperpower, that's saying something).
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: He often times goes against Providence's orders to do what he believes is right, pissing off White Knight in the process.
* ShapeshifterBaggage: Justified as of "Frostbite". He cures other [=EVOs=] by drawing their nanites into himself. That's where the extra mass comes from. Once he's drawn in too many to handle, Providence has facilities to remove the excess baggage. It's also been shown that creating his machines does in fact increase his weight.
* ShapeshifterWeapon: He doesn't ''have'' one so much as he ''is'' one.
* ShipperOnDeck: With time, [[spoiler:for Six and Holiday.]]
* SmugSuper: Rex is a mild version of this. Being a teenager with superpowers, it's not exactly surprising.
* SpiderSense: Played for laughs, he gets shivers when Breach is nearby--it's actually very accurate.
** This has [[spoiler:a positive effect ''for Breach'' in the episode "A Brief History Of Time", the shivers make Rex realize that the strange anomaly following Van Kleiss is actually Breach herself.]]
* StrongFamilyResemblance
* SwissArmyHero: Figuratively (Rex's multiple nanite weapons) and literally (He was born in Geneva).
* SuperHero
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: The flashback episode "Promises, Promises" shows that Rex, just prior to joining Providence, somehow built himself into a [[AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever massive, biomechanical monster]] that even ''fighter jets'' couldn't takedown. Doing this wiped his memory. "Assault on Abysus" shows said monster is something he imagined as a kid. [[spoiler:In the finale, his improved powers result in an upgraded version of this giant robot form, and unlike before he's in full control and it doesn't cause him to lose his memories. On the contrary, this time he ''recovers'' all of his lost memories from prior to the start of the series.]]
* SuperPrototype: His nanites are from the first batch created prior to the Event. The only stable batch, in fact.
* SwissArmySuperpower: His powers let him create and control machinery, as well as interface with and control any electronic system by touch. It seems to be limited by his mechanical knowledge of whatever it is he's operating. He's able to power up or power down any machine easily, though anything more takes time and effort.
* TaughtByExperience: By the third season it's apparent that Rex is an asset not only because of his combat and curing abilities but also because of his extensive knowledge of Evo habits and ability to take advantage of them.
* {{Technopath}}: His EVO powers allow him to control machines.
* TenMinuteRetirement: In "The Hunter".
* TookALevelInBadass: In an interesting twist for a western cartoon, even some of the most dangerous members of Rex's RoguesGallery pose less and less of a threat to him as the series goes on. There are exceptions, [[spoiler: But the BigBad Van Kleiss isn't one of them.]]
* TotallyRadical: {{Justified|Trope}}, since he has no memory more than about 18 months back, a lot of what he does may just be what he thinks normal teens do - and he probably learned from television since he's always around adults. No other teen in the series acts remotely like this, either.
* UnwantedHarem: And how! He's garnered the attention of at least ''six'' girls in two seasons, though notably, one is his villain's misguided minion, another is the same villain's other minion who trapped him in a creepy pocket dimension, and the most normal of the girls is a disaster magnet. Long story short, emphasis on "Harem," extra emphasis for "Unwanted."
* WhatYouAreInTheDark: To a lesser extent, episode five. When outside Providence, he starts stopping random Evo attacks.
* YouFightLikeACow: Rex will ALWAYS come up with a smart-ish remark, no matter the situation. In over two seasons worth of episodes, there are extremely few, possibly only one, times that he doesn't snark. It is in fact confirmed to be an act that he puts on to cope with fear.

->'''Gender''': Male\
'''Profession''': Providence Agent\
'''Voice Actor''': Creator/WallyKurth

A senior-level operative for Providence, Six is literally the sixth deadliest man on the planet. Highly skilled in every form of combat and trained in methods of intrigue, Six is the ultimate bodyguard to Rex. His stoic nature and lightning-fast mind have made him a prized operative and explain why he was given the assignment of helping Rex learn how to utilize his powerful abilities. Unfortunately, Six doesn't have much patience for undisciplined partners, unreliable machines, and especially smart-mouth teenagers! So from the onset, Rex and Six have an abrasive "odd couple" relationship.
----
* AmazonChaser: When it came to Holiday's obvious crush on him, at best he was genuinely oblivious, at worse he just plain wasn't interested. Seeing her shooting rapid-fire at an EVO changed his mind.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: Word of God says Six is Chinese, but the average viewer didn't really get that impression.[[note]]Not helped that his look is modeled after [[Franchise/TheMatrix Agent Smith]], who is very much ''not'' Chinese.[[/note]]
* AmnesiacDissonance: [[spoiler:Six of six years ago is willing to kill on a whim, fancies himself a ladies' man (probably not unjustifiably so), and isn't a team player. Thankfully, it doesn't take too much to get him to work his way back to present Six.]]
** [[spoiler:Not quite, he doesn't have the memories, but he's going to try to be that person because of Rex's trust in the man he used to be.]]
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: Subverted. He's arguably a better combatant than the 2nd through 5th most dangerous people in the world, but he's considered somewhat 'less dangerous' because of his [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Heart Of Gold]].
* BadassInANiceSuit: Never seen without his trademark green suit and tie.
* BadassLongcoat: His winter gear.
* BadassNormal: He's a normal human, and is considered the sixth most dangerous man in the world.
* BifurcatedWeapon: Inverted. If he wants to, he can combine his swords into an electromagnetic weapon with a variety of uses.
* BladeBelowTheShoulder: Six wears his extendible swords mounted in sheaths on his forearms.
* BodyguardingABadass: Justified, as most of his job is to train Rex, keep him in check, and be his backup in combat.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: He is much stronger and faster than he has any right to be.
* TheComicallySerious: It's a given if your team consists of a teenager and a talking monkey.
* CoolShades: Six is never seen without his trademark sunglasses, which only add to his mystique.
** SunglassesAtNight: No matter where he goes, even underwater! He finally takes them off in "Divide by Six".
* CoolSword: He has two retractable katanas.
%%* DoesntLikeGuns: He's never seen wielding a gun.
* DualWielding: He dual-wields his swords.
* TheGlassesComeOff: [[spoiler:With a twist; it's not to show him get ready for action (that's his day job), but to showcase his feelings more openly.]]
* IntergenerationalFriendship: "Friendship" might be a little stretch, but he still looks after Rex in a fatherly way.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He's incredibly distant, but he's demonstrated his fair share of kind moments. In "The Architect", he finds Rex celebrating with the townsfolk, and radios back that Rex isn't there.
** In "Wasteland" [[spoiler: he agrees to keep Serge's underwater city secret]].
** In "Divide By Six" it's shown that among the most dangerous people in the world ''he's'' TheHeart of the group.
** In episode 36, he does whatever it takes to rescue and then cure Holiday's little sister, even seriously injuring himself to try and make the machine work by supercharging it with his magnetic swords. [[spoiler:It works!]]
** Even when he was a Jerkass homicidal assassin, once upon a time, he wouldn't have been able to kill someone who had absolute faith in him. [[HeelFaceTurn He also would have made it a priority to live up to the expectations of anyone who cared about him that much]].
*** ''And'' after the TimeSkip, where [[spoiler:even though his memories are still gone, he has his moments with Rex that show their bond is still there.]]
* KnownOnlyByTheirNickname: Six gets his name because he is the sixth most dangerous fighter on earth.
* LaResistance: After a six-month TimeSkip.
* TheLancer: Six is Rex's trusty backup, no matter what the circumstances.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: Gets hit with this in "Six Minus Six" when saving Rex from a memory recovery device that went wrong. [[spoiler:Surprisingly, he doesn't get a ResetButton at the end, even after the six-month flash forward.]]
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: At the end of Episode 5, he asks "We have to do this every Friday?" This is the day the show aired.
* LightningBruiser: Ridiculously tough and possibly the fastest non-superpowered person on the show.
* TheMenInBlack: He has the look and the attitude down. Think Agent K with two fold-out swords.
* PapaWolf: Lines will be crossed if you hurt anyone he truly cares about. And you ''do not'' want that to happen.
** But then in "Six Minus Six" [[spoiler:he loses his memory from the last six years...including everything about [=EVOs=], Providence, and ''Rex''. However, he was swayed to stay with Providence and not go back to being a mercenary due to Rex's trust in him.]]
* ParryingBullets: He's been shown to cut bullets in half when fired from a machine gun.
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue to Rex's red. (One of two)
** [[spoiler:Possibly swapped as of "Six Minus Six" since his former mercenary self is still cold, and at points, it's Rex talking him down now.]]
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: He occasionally disobeys orders to do what's right. For example, in episode 2 he removed the launch key from the [[FantasticNuke Blech Bomb]].
* TheStoic: He rarely shows any emotion. [[spoiler: Not so much with Six of six years ago.]]
* SugarAndIcePersonality: So much; a prime example would be when [[spoiler:he asked out Holiday with a completely straight face... even while holding her hand.]] In fact, a good chunk of the show's Heartwarming Moments page can be attributed to him.
* TallDarkAndSnarky: He has his moments of snark.
* TeamDad:
** Finally admitted by Rex in "Six Minus Six"... [[spoiler:but not under the best circumstances due to Six's memory loss.]]
---> [[spoiler:'''Six''': I'm not your parent, kid!]]\
[[spoiler:'''Rex''': You're close enough! Or at least you used to be...]]
*** [[spoiler:They've reconciled at the end, but Six's memories are still gone. He says he's going to try and be the Six Rex knows because Rex trusts him.]]
%%* WouldHitAGirl: In "Six Minus Six".
* YouAreNumberSix: Is only the sixth most dangerous man in the world.

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2021_04_23_21_56_11.png]]
->'''Gender''': Male\
'''Profession''': Providence Agent\
'''Voice Actor''': Creator/JohnDiMaggio

One of the earliest Providence captures, Bobo is an intelligent monkey who can speak his mind. Despite his darker origins, Bobo has chosen to fight for good in his own gruff way. Bobo is always by Rex's side and fiercely loyal to the boy who saved him. Bobo sports a "shoot then aim" attitude towards every situation that he and Rex find themselves in and is constantly giving absurd advice to Rex, encouraging his more mischievous side.
----
* BarefootCartoonAnimal: Being a monkey, it would be pretty stupid of him to cover his prehensile feet with shoes.
* BerserkButton: Do not interrupt his nap.
--> '''Bobo''': Bobo gets cranky! ''(starts shooting bad guys left and right)''
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: He doesn't tend to do much, but the flashback episode revealed that he used to do things like sneak into the Kremlin and try to press [[NukeEm The Button]]...for ''fun''. Along with that, he also proves to be rather capable in a fight, such as [[CurbStompBattle curb-stomping Biowulf and Skalamander at the same time]].
* DarkAndTroubledPast: His past is a mystery, but from what he divulges in his rants it can be concluded he used to live in a harsh unforgiving jungle before and after becoming an Evo, then became an international criminal and world-renowned prankster of dangerous proportions before being captured and drafted by Providence.
* DrivesLikeCrazy: Bobo seems to take a perverse pride in not having a license. Granted he is a chimpanzee, but this does not stop him from driving heavily armored vehicles.
* EnergyWeapons: His blasters, [[TheWorfBarrage though they're rarely all that effective]].
* GunsAkimbo: His main weapons are two large laser blasters.
* HumansAreMorons: Tends to state how silly and idiotic he finds the behavior of humans at times.
* InsistentTerminology: He does not wear a diaper. It is a "Simian undergarment."
* ItIsDehumanizing: Bites a girl on the beach in response to her asking "Does it bite?" specifically because she called him "it."
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Big time. He's a condensing little prick who'd happily sole out Rex for a pizza, but he does care for him and everyone else.
* LaResistance: After a six-month TimeSkip.
* MustHaveCaffeine: Especially after a rough night. In "Crash and Burn", he finds the coffee maker is empty, so he eats the coffee grounds.
* NonHumanSidekick: He's a talking chimpazee.
* TalkingAnimal: Bobo's speech is a side effect of his Evo mutations.
* TheWorfEffect: If he's involved in a fight, he tends to get knocked out of it before getting a chance to do much - and even if he isn't, he rarely accomplishes a great deal anyway. Averted, big-time, in "Robo Bobo."
** TheWorfBarrage: Despite looking thoroughly impressive, those energy blasters of his don't have a much better track record than regular Providence solid-shot weaponry.
* TradingBarsForStripes: Before he joined Providence, Bobo Haha was an international criminal that the Pre-Rex Providence had encounters with. After Rex had joined Providence and became the Cure; Bobo Haha was released to help maintain a positive emotional environment for Rex. In many instances, Bobo would be seen working alongside Providence Soldiers and on one occasion even leading them into battle in China.

Noah is in every way a regular kid, except for one thing: he is secretly employed by Providence to be Rex's friend. This deception ultimately weighs heavily on Noah, who genuinely likes Rex. Noah provides a dose of reality and normalcy in Rex's life and is there for him, whether it's to play a game of basketball or to offer advice.
----
* TheAce: It's eventually shown that Noah does in fact have his act together very well, being popular, intelligent, and surprisingly well-connected in school and life, as well as being a veteran, if not well-practiced, combatant. Rex, by contrast, is a clumsy goof around people his age.
* ActionSurvivor: After a short stay at Providence boot camp, he's more than willing to grab a gun when it comes to that.
* AlliterativeName: '''N'''oah '''N'''ixon.
* BestFriend: He has no powers or special abilities, but is valuable to Rex due to the emotional support he provides him with.
* BecomingTheMask: Was hired to be Rex's civilian friend, but would come to regret this decision when Rex found out as he grew to like spending time with him. After some convincing by Holiday, they become friends for real.
* {{Catchphrase}}: "Gotcha" in he used this only in the "guy vs guy" episode.
* ConflictingLoyalty
* HeterosexualLifePartners: Becomes truly good friends with Rex, even letting him stay at his house when Providence [=HQ=] was under construction.
* HiddenDepths
* IWasYoungAndNeededTheMoney: A main reason why he agreed to initially pose as Rex's "friend". This part of his confession when exposed granted him a punch by Rex.
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: DoubleSubverted; he looks the part, then his secret is out, and ''then'' it's revealed that he is, by all means, a high school kid with normal problems other than Providence.
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue to Rex's red. (One of two)
* TookALevelInBadass: After going through some Providence basic training (even though he technically dropped out) he's shown the ability to use the Providence assault rifle and even [[spoiler: hammered Van Kleiss with a [[ForkliftFu forklift]]]].
* UnfazedEveryman: In the very first episode, Noah is dragged to Abysus with Rex and Bobo. He doesn't seem remotely bothered by this. It's a trait he never loses.

Genius scientist extraordinaire, Doctor Holiday works for Providence as tech support, but her main focus though is Rex. She monitors his emotions, the state of the nanites inside him, and his general health. Holiday has taken a much more maternal interest in Rex and seems to be the only person at Providence who truly cares for his emotional well-being. Holiday is not afraid to speak her mind and though she respects authority, she answers first and foremost to science. She's quick-witted, clever and direct. It's almost always impossible to pull something over on Holiday.
----
* BadassBookworm: When you consider the fact that she's more scientist.
* BrainyBrunette: Fits all of the stereotypes.
* CoolBigSis: With some flavor of [[BigBrotherInstinct Big Sister Instinct]] when it comes to Rex [[spoiler:and, most especially, her [=EVO=] sister, Beverly.]]
* CrazyPrepared: Really, Holiday? You either had ready, or set up in under 8 minutes, an interrogation room with hand scanners, trapdoor, descending wall-thingy, Breach-sized restraints, and PROBE CANNON?
* EducationMama: Apparently becomes one to Rex at the end of "Without A Paddle." Played for laughs.
* InkSuitActor: Her design arguably resembles her voice actress, Creator/GreyDeLisle.
* KnightTemplarParent: Though not ''technically'' his mother, she'll be absolutely ruthless to anyone she knows has hurt Rex (not that Rex can't take care of himself, mind you, but in situations where he's unable to act).
* LaResistance: After a six-month TimeSkip.
* LethalChef: For all her technological/medical skills and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking sexy lab coat]], she can somehow manage to make a cake that requires no less than an authentic Japanese ''tanto'' to cut. (With Rex and Six expressing uncertainty as to whether even that would be sufficient.)
* LettingHerHairDown: Inverted; it was down when Rex was first brought to Providence. Seems she tied it up later.
* MamaBear: Mess with Rex, Beverly, or (to a lesser extent) Noah, and she will come down you like a ton of bricks.
* TheMedic: One of her main tasks is patching up the frontline fighters.
* MoreDakka: In contrast to Six, she usually fights with heavy artillery.
* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous: Shares a surname and informal title with Old West gunslinger [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doc_Holliday John Henry "Doc" Holliday]].
* ParentalSubstitute: The closest thing Rex has to a mom in the series.
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: When it comes to her patients, at least, but being a doctor, it's understandable and not unusual. She will, however, mock their [[spoiler:GoofyPrintUnderwear]].
* SheCleansUpNicely: In "Leader of the Pack".
* ShipperOnDeck: For Rex and Circe.
* TheSmartGirl: For Providence.
* {{Tsundere}}: A type B towards Six.
* YouCalledMeXItMustBeSerious: If Six ever calls Dr. Holiday 'Rebecca' instead of 'Holiday', then you know that something really serious is going down.

!White Knight
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_9168.jpeg]]
->'''Gender''': Male\
'''Profession''': Leader of Providence\
'''Voice Actor''': Creator/JKSimmons

The Agent in charge at Providence, his ultimate quest is to rid the world of E.V.O.s (Exponentially Variegated Organism). White harbors an almost irrational fear of nanites, to the point where he never leaves his stark white office, which also doubles as a high-tech nanite-free clean room. As far as anyone can tell he never leaves the sterilized room he calls an office, as apparent by his flour white skin and that he keeps a jar of milk in a drawer. While there is not exactly a heart of gold hidden beneath his gruff exterior, he does genuinely want to do the right thing and is often faced with making really tough decisions. Once a friend and partner of Six, their relationship is showing signs of serious strain.
----
* TwentyFourHourArmor: [[spoiler:After being forced out of Providence during the TimeSkip. Due to being deprived of his Clean Room, he's taken to wearing his hermetically-sealed armor constantly.]]
* AntiHero: He can be reasonable, and it's shown that he is a competent, if stern and cynical, leader.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: He may be the boss and a shut-in most of the time, but when he does need to kick ass, he can.
** Before he was the boss, WK was a competent field agent for Providence. He even fought [[spoiler: Agent Six]] in hand-to-hand combat and did pretty well for himself.
* BackToBackBadasses: He and Six used to be this, back when he was actually in the thick of it during the early days of Providence.
* BigGood: ''Just barely.'' He is in charge of Providence and all of the good guys, but it's a stretch to call him a good person.
* BubbleBoy: He has a good justification for this in "The Plague". Being the only person on the planet free of nanites, he's the only living human who can be unquestionably trusted not to go Evo and turn on his own people at a bad time. In that same episode, it ''does'' also protect him from a nanite-mutated virus that affects humans, but not [=EVOs=]. What's ironic about it is that he wasn't always uninfected; he was stuck in a molecular deconstruction chamber which should have killed him, but Rex shut it off just soon enough for it to remove only his nanites.
* CrazyPrepared: He has a MiniMecha if he has to go outside. If that's destroyed, he's wearing another suit of powered armor under that. And ''that'' suit of armor is modular with redundant sections in case it's damaged.
** The mecha in question is built to take on powerful [=EVOs=], including Rex in the offchance he does rogue. Not that it did him any good.
%%* DefrostingIceKing: As of "Payback". He seems to appreciate Rex much more as a person ''AND ACTUALLY LAUGHED AT SOMETHING REX SAID.''
** And later in ''Heroes United'' (which despite being a crossover, is canon for GR), he opted to stay and fight Alpha with Rex and Ben, despite the fact that if his armor took any more damage he'd be exposed to nanites for sure. Why? [[spoiler: Because Six wasn't there due to possibly life-threatening injuries, and White feels that staying with Rex is what Six would do.]]
* GoodIsNotNice: Played ''very'' straight. His "Capture or Kill" policy for [=EVOs=] is part of this trope.
* HeroAntagonist: In "Outbreak".
* {{Jerkass}}: Knight doesn't really do 'polite', let alone 'cordial'. Later episodes have him developing into a JerkWithAHeartOfGold.
* LaResistance: After a six-month TimeSkip, he's ousted from his leadership of Providence and brings together the only few remaining people loyal to him (Six, Holiday, Bobo, and Jungle Cat) to stop the Consortium and take back Providence.
* LockedIntoStrangeness: His hair and skin color are the results of the accident that removed all the nanites in him.
* MiniMecha: Even though he's paranoid about being infected by nanites, this hasn't stopped him from building one of these so he can go on missions when he ''absolutely'' has to.
* MinoredInAssKicking: For much of the show, White Knight is seen as the head of Providence, and the one human not contaminated with nanites. Then the events of "plague" puts most of the country to sleep, and White is forced out of his bubble to help Rex, and the viewer learns that White can kick ass with the best of them.
* NotSoStoic: As evidenced by 'Grounded', Knight does have a sense of humor. It's not particularly ''nice'', but it's there.
* TheParanoiac: Lampshaded and thoroughly deconstructed with White Knight. He's the only human on Earth that's Nanite-free and sees himself as the only one trustworthy enough to lead Providence. He deeply distrusts everyone else who he thinks will infect him and turn him into a freak. Rex fires back that since ''everyone'' has nanites now, the only "freak" around is Knight himself, and his paranoid ControlFreak tendencies have done more harm than good.
-->'''Rex:''' You never trusted me!\
'''White Knight:''' I don't trust anything with nanites!\
'''Rex:''' Everything has nanites!\
'''White Knight:''' Everything but me!
* PerpetualFrowner: We rarely see this guy smile.
* PetTheDog:
** Want to know how he lost his nanites? He pulled a HeroicSacrifice to save Six's life. He only survived due to Rex's intervention.
** And in ''Heroes United'' he risks being infected again to help Rex and Ben [[spoiler: because it's what Six would do]].
** In the finale, he [[spoiler:absolves Six of the order to kill Rex should he go into his superpowered {{Kaiju}} form]]. You wouldn't expect that at all given his behavior in the first season.
* PoweredArmor: Wears it beneath the mecha.
* StartMyOwn: [[spoiler: Started his own Providence after being fired]].
* TerrifiedOfGerms: Back in the day, White Knight had an aversion to germs. This ended up translating into his fear and mistrust of nanites, that he could take his chances with germs for all he cares.
* VillainInAWhiteSuit: Downplayed. He does wear a white suit but is more of an AntiHero who gets pretty extreme with his actions.
* WeHaveReserves: He berates Rex for saving soldiers, at one point saying that they ''knew'' if they died, they'd be replaced.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Bordering on KnightTemplar. He backs away from that sometimes but is always this trope at best.

Rex's older brother and one of the scientists who worked on the nanite project. He managed to escape the lab he worked in before the nanite explosion, only for his portable lab to move at light speed(!) for 15 minutes (5 years in real-time). Knew Van Kleiss and Rex before the nanite incident.
----
* AbsentMindedProfessor: He's a genius and a nice guy, but a little... kooky.
* BeardOfEvil: [[spoiler:He grows a goatee after the six-month TimeSkip, and he also has his FaceHeelTurn by then. He ends up shaving it off two episodes later, though.]]
* BewareTheNiceOnes[=/=]BewareTheSillyOnes: [[spoiler:He can be caustic and hostile at the drop of a hat if challenged. Even to Rex. Hell, the way he eventually starts treating Rex hints at quite a cruel streak.]] See CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass below.
* CannotSpitItOut: He has an amazingly bad habit of refusing to volunteer any information unless he feels like doing so. It took an entire season just to get him to reveal the truth behind the nanite event.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: He's kinda... out there.
* CrazyPrepared: And yet he didn't think to install a [[spoiler: bathroom]] on his ship.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Notable in that the badass part comes before the moron. Sure, he's a goofball and {{Cloudcuckoolander}}, but he pretty much upstages Providence in his debut episode with his technical prowess and knowledge of nanites. Rex does stop him before he takes on Six, but hey, that's pretty good for a guy who's technically a non-combatant.
** He isn't afraid to go up against the likes of Hunter Cain to defend Rex, as seen in "Night Falls". PapaWolf Mode kicks in.
--->'''Caesar:''' You mess with my brother, you mess with ''me.''\
'''Cain:''' Who are you? You an EVO?\
'''Caesar:''' No, I'm a scientist. ''[shocks Cain with a probe]''
* DitzyGenius: [[spoiler:Zag RS and Alpah should be good enough examples.]]
* FaceHeelTurn: [[spoiler:He's sided with Black Knight and her Providence after the six-month TimeSkip. Includes a BeardOfEvil. However, he and Rex remain on FriendlyEnemy terms afterwards.]]
** [[spoiler:Subverted. He was only working them to complete the device that would let Rex have all the Meta Nanites. He was being kind of a dick about it, though, and his last scene is him proposing a new big experiment to other scientists, showing that he still hasn't learned his lesson from the Nanite Event.]]
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:He promptly turned back to Rex's side after his plan with the Meta Nanites succeeded.]]
* FriendlyEnemy: [[spoiler:Even after Rex had declared himself estranged from Cesar, they still casually call each other and are surprisingly civil. His rather callous attitude upon the revelation of his FaceHeelTurn was toned down in later episodes.]]
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: [[spoiler:He was responsible for the Nanite Event, which he caused in order to prevent the superpowerful Meta-Nanites from falling into the wrong hands.]]
** [[spoiler:Staying with Providence and collecting the old team in order to create the machine that would have let Rex have all the Meta Nanites. Him not telling Rex was also part of his plan.]]
* ImplacableMan: Upon his introduction. His suit and the machine he used to disable Providence tech couldn't be stopped by the veritable army that was thrown at him.
* ItRunsInTheFamily: [[spoiler: Note Rex's pre-amnesia ManipulativeBastard double-crossing tendencies. Now taking into account Cesar's own recently revealed lack of moral compunction...]]
* KarmaHoudini: [[spoiler: He has so far escaped any sort of punishment for the Nanite Event. Compare Rylander who more or less died, and Peter Meechum who became an EVO (can't get more karmic than that). Van Kleiss is a villain, though he's had a pretty rough time of it, too.]]
** He finally got [[spoiler:punched by Rex in "Endgame Pt.2", but he's still loose out there plotting another big experiment that may create another disaster like the Nanite Event.]]
* LongLostSibling: He's been separated from Rex for 5 years.
* MadScientist: He created [[spoiler:ZAG-RS]]. Granted, he ([[EpilepticTrees probably]]) wasn't responsible for [[AIIsACrapshoot any of its mishaps]]...
** In "Written In Sand", Van Kleiss flat-out states that [[spoiler:César is responsible for the Nanite Event, the worst disaster in human history]]. Eventually, Cesar [[spoiler:admits this was true, but he had good reason for it -- the alternative was letting the Meta Nanites fall into the wrong hands]].
** [[spoiler:He also created Alpha, who [[AIIsACrapshoot turned into an]] OmnicidalManiac.]]
** [[spoiler:It was also revealed that the Nanite Event happened in order to prevent not just the Consortium but Van Kleiss from getting their hands on the Meta Nanites. Doesn't make him any less mad a scientist, though, especially considering his final scene.]]
* MikeNelsonDestroyerOfWorlds: He has good intentions ([[ForScience sort of]]) but his inventions have come dangerously close to ending all life on Earth several times. It's [[FridgeHorror hard to think about]] what would happen if he was ''trying'' to do intentional harm to humanity.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler:If only he told Rex about why he and the other scientists were helping Black Knight then Rex wouldn't have prevented the Meta Nanites from combining and giving the Consortium their powers.]]
* NotDistractedByTheSexy: The one thing he ''doesn't'' seem distracted by. The most he can say about Doc Holiday is that she seems "very smart." Rex is stunned by this.
** Although not distracted, he ''is'' aware of her good looks, as he had referred to her as "bonita" (means 'beautiful' in Spanish) in his debut episode while rescuing Rex.
* TheSixthRanger: After joining Providence mid-season 2. [[spoiler:He later becomes a SixthRangerTraitor.]]
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Is it "Caesar" or "César"? Both pronunciations get used in the series.
* ThemeNaming: Caesar is a title used by Roman emperors, tying in with how Rex is Latin for "king".
* TooCleverByHalf: Smart enough to make advanced artificial intelligence -- too much of a DitzyGenius [[AIIsACrapshoot to program appropriate safeguards]].
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Whatever he's up to while working for Black Knight he apparently think it justifies the means no matter what. The other scientists who worked on the nanite program appear to agree with him too. [[spoiler:He was working with Providence in order to finish the machine that would allow Rex to have all the Meta Nanites as was his and their parents original intentions.]]

Providence Captain, and major ally to White Knight. He makes several appearances throughout the show.
----
* BadassNormal: Not to Six's extent, but he's still competent in a fight
* DeathFromAbove: When getting into a fight with the Pack over Rylander's laboratory Providence takes a few losses, so Calan orders them to bomb the lab.
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: Once turned into an EVO by Van Kleiss. Gets cured by Rex in the end.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: has a scar over his eye. As seen in Promises Promises; he got it in the five years from when Rex was recruited, to the present.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: He's a high ranking providence agent who does numerous things behind the scene, like international thievery and [[spoiler: his actions as TheMole]].
* MauveShirt: The most important/recurring providence agent outside the main protagonists/antagonists.
* TheMole: [[spoiler:He and at least 4 other Agents are revealed to be working for White Knight even after he's defected. Calan himself helped White escape after he faked his suicide.]]
