!The Magical Girls and The Kaleidosticks
[[folder:In General]]
* BadassAdorable: The magical girls are adorable 10 year-olds (later 11 by ''2wei''), that wield the application of the Second Magic, Kaleidoscope.
* BigBrotherAttraction: The trio share a PrecociousCrush for their older brothers.
* BirthdayBuddies: All three of the girls share a birthday ''and'' age. [[spoiler:This isn't a coincidence, though how Illya connects to Miyu or Chloe differs.]]
* DramaPreservingHandicap: With the revelation of how their powers are combinations of [[spoiler:''two'' True Magics, having wish-granting power ''and'' infinite mana with which to use it]], they ''should'' be some of the most powerful beings in the Nasuverse, bar none. But circumstances conspire to keep this from manifesting: [[spoiler:Illya only learns she's a vessel for the Third Magic after she's already lost most of her magic circuits from Chloe's creation, Miyu can't use the Third Magic effectively because she is too much of a BrokenBird to have wishes, and Chloe will die if she overtaxes her mana and can't replenish it with the Second Magic like the others.]]
* MagicalGirl: Duh! They have magic wands and transform into cute magical outfits so they can fight fight and do good.
* SquishyWizard: They're very vulnerable without the protection of Kaleidosticks or when low on mana.
* TheThreeFacesOfEve:
** Illya is a bright Child, because at the start she is a little immature and simple-minded (justified since she ''is'' a child), as well as optimistic and with great potential.
** Miyu is a stoic and smart Wife, who is much more passive than either Illya or Chloe, as well as supportive and protective of Illya and the mansion where she works as a maid. She also has domestic skills such as being able to cook very well.
** Chloe is unmistakably the Seductress, since she is very open-minded about relationships and matters of love, and she kisses other people a lot (a requirement since she needs other people's energy to live). Also, while Illya wears fairly normal clothes for a young girl and Miyu's casual clothes are more boyish, Chloe's wardrobe is a little more risqué.

The TokenMiniMoe of ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'', and the protagonist in this continuity. An [[OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent ordinary elementary school student]] in Fuyuki living peacefully with her family. One day, just before going to bed, a magic stick named Magical Ruby chose her as its master. Her job as a MagicalGirl is to capture Class Cards.
----
* AccidentalPervert: In 2wei, [[spoiler:when she extracts Gilgamesh from his corrupt form he's stark naked, and she lands with her left hand on "[[GroinAttack something soft]]". Gilgamesh quips that she should be more gentle, and when she notices exactly what she's squeezing she freaks out.]]
* AchievementsInIgnorance: The Franchise/{{Nasuverse}} tends to be quite strict on how magic actually works, where most magecraft is SufficientlyAnalyzedMagic. Hence why people are continually surprised when Illya manages to ignorantly perform feats that would be crippling or downright impossible for a normal magus, simply by entering her Kaleid Trance and imagining said feats. [[spoiler:Being a living Holy Grail has something to do with that, since the whole purpose of the Holy Grail/Third Magic is skipping all the steps in exchange for mana, of which she has an endless supply thanks to her Trance.]]
* ACupAngst: One anime special has Chloe wearing bras (despite being 10) under the belief that bras with proper support encourage breast growth, causing Illya to worry over if [[BuxomBeautyStandard her breasts won't grow]] without them. In the end, after Illya gets caught trying to fit into other people's bras, both Illya and Chloe are stunned when the buxom Leysritt reveals that she [[VaporWear personally doesn't wear one]].
* AdaptationalBadass: Illya in ''stay night'' possessed considerable magical circuits, but was stuck spending them all keeping Berserker in check. Here, she is more than capable of using her magic potential to her full advantage via Ruby. In terms of raw strength, Illya here surpasses her ''stay night'' version in every category.
* AdaptationalHeroism: In ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'', Illya is CuteAndPsycho. This Illya is BornLucky, a NiceGirl, ''and'' a MagicalGirl.
* AdaptationAngstDowngrade: Thanks to not losing both her parents and being freed from her evil grandfathers' influence, Illya is far more stable than her main series counterpart.
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: Aside from being much more heroic, she also possesses a ''lot'' of quirks and character traits the original incarnation of Illya never had. [[spoiler:This turns out to be a plot point in ''2wei'', as it's revealed that her current personality is a result of Irisviel sealing her original memories as a grail conduit when she (Illya) was only 8 months old; as a result she's a completely different person from mainline Illyasviel. The suppressed original personality eventually emerges using the Archer class card as a conduit, and later becomes known as Chloe von Einzbern.]]
* AfraidOfTheirOwnStrength: Linked with her IJustWantToBeNormal wish in the first season. Illya remembers that it was she who defeated Saber Alter after Saber Alter annihilated Assassin. When she realizes that she almost killed Luvia, Rin, and Miyu, too, she immediately teleports home (to everyone's surprise) and tries to quit being a magical girl the next day. Her mother snaps her out of her depression.
* AgeLift: Whereas the Illya in ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'' is actually an 18-year-old woman who resembles a 10-year-old girl, she is genuinely a 10-year-old girl in this universe.
* AllLovingHeroine: She wants to use her magical powers to protect others and doesn't hold any grudges against anyone. [[spoiler:This is evident with the SadisticChoice she is given between saving her best friend, Miyu, and the entire world where she decides to save ''both''. She's also quick to forgive Angelica and let her join the party after Julian abandons her despite all the terrible things she has done to Illya and her friends.]]
* AmbiguouslyBi: Illya has a massive crush on Shirou, but also [[IntimateHealing regularly supplies Chloe with mana via heavy make-out sessions]] and has a PseudoRomanticFriendship relationship with Miyu.
* TheApprentice: She reluctantly became Rin's apprentice after she becomes a MagicalGirl.
* ArtificialHuman: Well, half-artificial. Her mother is a homunculus, but her father is human.
* AscendedExtra: While she is an important character in ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'', this series takes things a step further by elevating her to becoming TheProtagonist, and most of the series' focus is on her and her activities as a MagicalGirl.
* AscendedFangirl: Of magical girls in general. [[SubvertedTrope Not that she wanted to become one...]]
* BadassAdorable: This story still takes place in the ''Fate'' universe, so her magical powers are put into combat... against ''Servants''.
* BarrierWarrior: Her barriers have multiple uses including restraining or blocking attacks and are a part of her standard arsenal of attacks. The anime plays up this aspect.
* BigBrotherAttraction: Magical Ruby notes that she has a "forbidden love" towards her brother, Shirou. Her classmates are aware of it too, much to Illya's displeasure.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Invoked and combined with {{Twincest}}. While Chloe is normally the one to pressure Illya into mana-supplying make-out sessions, Illya kissed Chloe of her own initiative on at least two occasions -- once when Chloe was sick and once when she was in danger of fading away -- both times invoking her duty as Chloe's "big sister" to protect her.
* BornLucky: [[PlayedForLaughs Played humorously]]. Implied by Chloe as an explanation for how she keeps dodging her attacks.
* ButNotTooForeign: Half-Japanese, half-German.
* CharacterDevelopment: She starts out as a reluctant Magical Girl with self-esteem issues, who only fights in the Holy Grail War because she was forced to and just wants to return to her normal life, but she develops into an [[IdealHero Ideal Heroine]], who will do everything in her power to protect her loved ones and save the world, even when everyone is telling her it's impossible.
* CompositeCharacter: She takes up Shirou's role as an ordinary person who later gets involved in the secret world of magic.
* CoolBigSis: She ''wants'' to be one, to the point that simply calling her "onee-chan" will make her agree to nearly anything. Unfortunately all of her prospective doting targets are more mature than she is.
* CovertPervert: Illya has her own hidden perverted side, that usually manifests in form of "switch" that activates whenever she sees a female maid or anything arousing that hits her fetishes. [[spoiler:Like Miyu in a CatGirl outfit.]]
* CutenessProximity: With maids of all things (although Einzbern maids are out of question)! Also being called "onee-chan". There's also that one time with [[spoiler:Miyu]] in a CatGirl outfit.
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: Her Zwei form. [[spoiler:By combining the two Kaleidosticks, she can fight on-par with an unleashed Gilgamesh. However her internal organs and tissues take huge amounts of damage when she uses them as pseudo magic circuits to increase her power, prompting Ruby to forbid her from such a technique when she mentions it.]]
* DesignerBabies: Like her original incarnation from ''Fate/stay night'', Illya's original purpose was to be the Holy Grail Conduit, which involved having knowledge of all things magic programmed into her since birth. What separates this Illya from the original continuity is that her parents decided that their child was more important than the war, sealing her knowledge away to GiveHerANormalLife.
* DualWielding:
** Kanshou and Bakuya with the Archer Card Install.
** Her Zwei form has her wield [[spoiler:Magical Ruby and Magical Sapphire at the same time. Downplayed in that they merge into a single magic staff rather than staying as separate wands.]]
** In 3rei, she [[spoiler:Installs]] the Saber Card and Includes the Caster Card to [[spoiler:stab Darius with Rule Breaker.]]
* {{Fetish}}: Turns out her reasoning takes a massive hit once she is around a {{Meido}}, or [[spoiler:seeing Miyu in a CatGirl outfit]]. Hilarious results follow.
* {{Flight}}: She masters this ability rather early on, which surprises Rin, who states that it takes a considerable amount of experience to actually fly as a MagicalGirl. It helps that she has a mindset that assumes that this is a normal thing for Magical Girls to do.
* GenreRefugee: Ironically. While billed as a Magical Girl series, ''PRISMA☆ILLYA'' at its core is a Franchise/{{Nasuverse}} work, so the Nasuverse's [[MagicAIsMagicA strict rules and procedures regarding magic]] all apply. A genuine Magical Girl shouldn't exist in this sort of setting, where even the other Kaleid Liners know and follow the established rules -- but Illya herself is unique in having both the skillset and the mindset to make it work regardless of what anyone says. While Miyu and Chloe could theoretically do the same, they're too scientifically-minded to match Illya's imagination. As a result she tends to be a miracle worker. [[spoiler:Later events clarify that it is more due to her lacking the baggage that [[BrokenBird Miyu]] and Chloe have.]]
* GenreSavvy: She is a fan of MagicalGirl anime and can be seen watching it at times. When she becomes a Magical Girl herself, she can see the complications and clichés in her card hunting activities coming from afar. Her knowledge of the genre that she has found herself in is also helpful when she is learning to fly. She learns it quickly and effortlessly because she already has a strong mental image of flying magical girls. In her words, "don't all magical girls fly?"
* GratuitousGerman: Her basic Magical Girl attacks are all pronounced in German.
* HeroProtagonist: She's the primary focus of the story, where we get to see how she gains her magical girl powers and learns how to use them against the class cards.
* IdealHero: What she eventually develops into. Perhaps best seen when she's told to accept a dilemma that forces her to choose between saving the world or [[spoiler:saving Miyu]], and she instead decides to choose both or when she's willing to [[spoiler:let Angelica join her crew after Julian dumps her, despite all the harm she had done to Illya and her friends in the past.]]
* IJustWantToBeNormal: She was dragged into MagicalGirl shenanigans because her wistful wishing for adventure happened to catch Ruby's attention. This earns her a rather difficult mentor in Rin and a magical stick that sends her to chase down magical cards. She wasn't thrilled. It's also {{deconstruct|ion}}ed later on; [[spoiler:the logical conclusion of her returning to normal would be that she never met Rin, Miyu, Luvia, and Chloe, rendering everything that happened meaningless. Also, Chloe will disappear if it comes true-- naturally she rejects this outcome violently]]. The whole thing sounds like a ShoutOut to (the manga version of) ''Manga/CardcaptorSakura'' [[spoiler:in which Sakura's failure to pass Yue's trial will erase absolutely every memory pertaining to gathering the cards.]]
* InnocentlyInsensitive: In ''2wei!'', when Illya is questioned about why she wanted to gather the Class Cards, she admits that it was out of the simple desire to solve the problem and go back to a normal life. This ''infuriates'' Chloe and almost leads to a fight to the death between her and Miyu. Illya doesn't realize until later that her never getting involved with magic would result in Miyu dying to the Class Cards and Chloe never being born -- Illya wanting a normal life is functionally the same as ''telling Miyu and Chloe "IWishedYouWereDead"''. [[HeelRealization Illya is appropriately mortified at her own thoughtlessness and rushes to stop the fight.]]
* IntimateHealing: The easiest way to supply mana to Chloe is by kissing (there ''is'' another, more intimate way, though). Chloe gets ten times the prana from Illya than anyone else, though Illya is usually reluctant to supply it due to the method. When Chloe is ill or near death, however, Illya will willingly go through with it to save her sister.
* {{Leitmotif}}: Ironically, despite being the protagonist, she doesn't get her own theme until ''3rei'', the appropriately named Prisma Illya 3rei Theme.
* LittleMissBadass: A little girl with absurd magical potential who gets to fight some of ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight''[='=]s iconic heroic spirits throughout the story.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop:
** She was raised without any knowledge of magic and would have stayed that way if she hadn't met Ruby and Rin. Even after getting her powers and resigning herself to having adventures, she doesn't know that Sella and Leysritt have powers.
** She was also initially unaware than Rin and Luvia are classmates of her big brother, let alone that they have feelings for him. She's pretty disappointed when she learns of this.
* MagicalGirlWarrior: In the tradition of shows like ''Manga/CardcaptorSakura'', ''Franchise/LyricalNanoha'' and ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica''. Illya fights to save her town from disaster, all while coming to terms with her newfound identity.
* MagneticHero: In Chapter 55 of 3rei, Rin explains to [[spoiler:Miyu's brother]] that Illya has the uncanny ability to be friends with anyone; even her former enemies.
* MysticalWhiteHair: Taking after her mother.
* MythologyGag:
** Illya's Saber Install grants her Saber Lily's outfit, although she still wields Excalibur.
** Her Rider Berserker Succession grants her the appearance of Gorgon from ''VideoGame/FateGrandOrder''.
* NakedPeopleAreFunny: Gets this treatment twice.
** The first when Ruby tricks her into becoming a MagicalGirl in the first episode of the first season. It's brought up again in the first special, which Ruby lampshades.
** The second happens in one of the ''2wei'' specials, thanks to not listening to Kuro's warning about clothes created from the latter's mana fading upon moving a certain distance away from her. Cue Shirou getting [[ColorFailure the shock of his life]]...
* NiceGirl: She's sweet and kind, and genuinely wants to use her magical powers to help people and doesn't hold any grudges against others. [[spoiler:In fact, when presented a SadisticChoice between saving Miyu and humanity, she decided to choose ''[[TakeTheThirdOption both]]''.]]
* NoPlaceForMeThere: [[spoiler:Tanaka warns Illya that if she were to use the Starlog to travel back to Pandora's time to stop Darius, she will not be able to reunite with everyone else in the present she is about to create. She realizes the implications of this, but she would prioritize the well-being of everyone else but herself.]]
* {{Nosebleed}}: Female example. Gets one after seeing Ruby "expose" an unconscious Shirou. Slight PlotPoint, as blood is needed to enforce a contract.
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[AvertedTrope Not this time.]] This Illya actually ''is'' 10, unlike her original ''[=Fate/stay night=]'' incarnation that was 18 with the appearance of a 10-year-old. And she later became 11-years-old after her birthday.
* OpenSecret: Everyone knows about her BigBrotherAttraction, but she desperately tries to deny it.
* OutOfFocus: During [[spoiler:Alternate Shirou's]] {{Backstory}} where he is the [[HeroOfAnotherStory protagonist.]]
* PinkHeroine: She wears a very frilly, pink outfit as a magical girl.
* ProtagonistTitle: She's TheHero of the story, and the entire series is named after her and her magical girl form.
* RazorWind: Her Schneiden, which is sharp enough to cut a tree in half.
* RedIsHeroic: [[spoiler:Promotional art by Hiroshi shows that Illya's transformed Saber/Saber Lily Install has [[https://i.imgur.com/J9cnflZ.jpg red colouring]] instead of Altria's blue]].
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Miyu's blue. She's more passionate than the stoic Miyu.
* ResignedToTheCall: Between Ruby's suspicious pitch and her own knowledge of the Magical Girl genre, Illya initially ''refused'' Ruby's offer because she could see the MagicalGirlGenreDeconstruction warning signs a mile away. Unfortunately, Ruby was crafty. More fortunately, Illya ends up being more suited to the role than anyone could've predicted and routinely halts the deconstruction.
* ScrewYourself: In [=2wei=], Chloe blackmails her into supplying mana via kisses on multiple occasions, which often become extremely intimate. Illya is usually extremely reluctant to do so and asks if there are any alternatives, but hearing [[SexMagic what those alternatives are]] embarrasses her out of her mind.
* SecondHourSuperpower: She only gains the ability to Install halfway through the series at the start of ''3rei''. Before that, she only Installs the Archer Card under Kuro's influence.
* ShapingYourAttacks: After [[spoiler:Chloe splits from her]], the resulting drop in Illya's magic circuits means basic energy shots no longer cut it. To keep up with Miyu and Chloe, she instead has to use her imagination and shape her shots into things that work, such as blades for piercing, a pyramid for defense, and stars to restrain enemies.
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Her Lancer and Rider Install (especially its Berserker Succession) shows a lot of skin.
* SuperMode: The Zwei Form, although it has dangerous side effects.
* SuperReflexes: She has a knack for dodging attacks in both her trance and tranceless states. [[spoiler:Bazett, a close-ranged fighter, even acknowledges her reflexes]]. This is because, to quote Ruby, her specialty is "running away".
* SupernaturallyDeliciousAndNutritious: Chloe receiving prana through IntimateHealing (kissing) from Illya is "like getting it from 10 other people." Unsurprisingly Chloe is always trying to push things well past kissing to get even more.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: [[spoiler:Illya's "Grail" mode is capable of tapping the cancelled Grail's power, granting her enough prana to fully utilize the Archer card, project several weapons, and fire Excalibur. In 2wei, the personality literally splits, resulting in Chloe, [[SubvertedTrope who retains the combat competency, but isn't actually evil, just mischievous]].]]
* TakingAThirdOption: [[spoiler:When forced between saving Miyu or the world, she chooses to save both.]]
* UnderwearOfPower: Her [[spoiler:Archer and Lancer Install, exposing parts of legs in the latter, but fully in the former.]]
* UnskilledButStrong: When compared to Luvia and Rin. She also gets a large amount of prana from [[spoiler:being the Grail, which manifests as a SuperpoweredEvilSide]]. However, once [[spoiler:Chloe splits from her]], she becomes noticeably weaker.
** A large number of Illya's attacks involve [[MoreDakka simply firing projectiles created from her unlimited supply of prana]]. In addition to the aforementioned attacks, Rin can also utilizes said prana to fuel her Magecraft.
** It's also {{deconstructed}} in one instance. [[spoiler:Her in ability to control her power leads to her SuperpoweredEvilSide kicking in, resulting in a huge explosion which could've killed her allies, had Miyu not shielded it in time. In the anime her partner's scolding puts her into a minor HeroicBSOD, leading to a TenMinuteRetirement.]]
* WeakButSkilled: After [[spoiler:Chloe manifests herself]] at the beginning of ''2wei'', Illya's Prisma trance significantly weakens, unable to channel as much mana as before even if she still has an endless supply. Unlike Miyu, she can't use Installs [[spoiler:until 3rei]] to overcome her weaknesses. Instead, she is creative with her attacks and works well with her allies. With the exception of [[spoiler:Gilgamesh]], all of her fights in ''2wei'' are won through teamwork and her intelligent usage of the Cards.

A girl who Sapphire contracted when she abandoned Luvia, Miyu quite literally conveniently appeared just when the stick required a person to contract with. Despite her past circumstances prior to meeting Sapphire being a massive question mark, Luvia just rolls with the situation, and takes Miyu into her "service", going as far as giving her the Edelfelt surname. She lives in the Edelfelt mansion (just beside Illya's house), and works for Luvia as a maid / magical girl. Unlike Illya, Miyu is extremely gifted in academics and sports, but has a massive problem interacting with other girls her age. She also has a ''very'' jaded outlook on the world, and shows little of the wonder a girl her age should have.

%%In 3rei, it was revealed that Miyu came from an alternate, dying world. She's the last of the destroyed Sayatsuki family, that has an ability to become a "wish-granter". After her clan was destroyed, Kiritsugu brought her to use her wish-granting ability and save the world, but he died before doing so. Her brother, that supposedly carries Kiritsugu's wish to use Miyu to grant the world salvation, can't bring his heart to do so, and thus, wishes for her to have a normal life as his little sister. But the Ainsworths found and captured her. After surviving the Holy Grail War, Shirou Emiya's wish to the Holy Grail sent her into Illya's world.
----
* AlternateSelf: [[spoiler:To Illya. In her own world, not only is she Shirou's foster sister, she's also her world's Grail Conduit.]]
* AmbiguouslyBi: Miyu has a pretty obvious crush on Illya [[spoiler:and Chloe]]. The only other person that made her embarrassed is Illya's brother, Shirou.
* TheApprentice: Like Illya and Rin, she becomes Luvia's apprentice after being selected as a MagicalGirl.
* BadassInDistress: Her captivity by the Ainsworths and being trapped in the alternate Fuyuki kickstarts the plot of ''3rei''.
* BarefootCaptives: When she's captured by the Ainsworth family, [[GoGoEnslavement she is made to wear]] a backless dress with elbow length gloves, but no shoes.
* BigBrotherWorship: [[spoiler:She has this with her Shirou. She becomes shockingly spoiled around him.]]
* BigDamnHeroes: In her first appearance, she saves Rin and Illya from the Rider class card.
* BornWinner: [[spoiler:Unlike Illya who was "modified" into a Holy Grail Conduit, Miyu was ''born'' as a Holy Grail Conduit, a Sakatsuki family trait known as the "Child of God". Though Sakatsuki children lose the greater functions of the Grail as they age past six, they still possess immense mana, and they can still act as a Grail if an appropriate Grail War is conducted.]]
* BrokenAce: While she is a brilliant girl, who excels at mathematics, cooking, athletics and can draw based on principles like cubism, which are far beyond the reach of any normal elementary school student, as seen in BrokenBird below, she is also a horribly traumatized girl who suffers from self-esteem issues because of [[spoiler:how everyone except Shirou treated her like a tool for summoning the Holy Grail in her past life and furthermore the torture she received when imprisoned by the Ainsworths.]]
* BrokenBird: [[spoiler:Courtesy of being her universe's Holy Grail, being held captive and having her captors wound her because her blood has magic properties, and her brother being held captive and tortured by the same people who keep her prisoner.]]
* BrutalHonesty: Miyu is rather upfront about the fact she doesn't bother to remember any of Illya's other friends names, even after she had been hanging out with them for a month or two!
* CanonForeigner: She does not have a ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'' counterpart. [[spoiler:It's because she is Illya's Alternate Universe counterpart.]]
* TheComicallySerious: Oh so much, in fact it is usually her default to the wacky hijinks! [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] in hilarious fashion when the gang gets on a rollercoaster. Miyu first doesn't get the concept, describing the physics behind it and all... until the thing actually gets going, which makes her do a very different face than usual.
* CompositeCharacter: Her backstory and self-esteem issues are borrowed from [[spoiler:Sakura Matou's backstory as an abused Grail conduit]] in ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'', while her personality with [[SugarAndIcePersonality Sugar And Ice modes]] and overt seriousness is borrowed from Saber.
* ConditionedToAcceptHorror: [[spoiler:What her world has done to her. Ainsworths raised her to accept her faith as a core for the Holy Grail, who needed to be frequently tortured and ultimately killed for the greater good. After Ainsworths kidnap her again, Darius is outright surprised when she started to resist against the torture she was receiving, instead of simply accepting it like she did in the past.]]
* CoolHorse: Comes with [[spoiler:the Rider Card Install.]]
* CovertPervert: She seemed rather... interested in one of Suzuka's yaoi mangas and spent much of ''2wei Herz!'' Episode 3 reading it, while the other girls were talking about Mimi's out of control perversions.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler:She's her universe's Holy Grail, and up until ''3rei'' had escaped from the Ainsworths.]]
* DarkMagicalGirl: She has all the makings of one, though the only time she is against Illya was when she was TheRival in the beginning.
* FatalFlaw: She's selfless, but her communication skills are horrible. These two traits put together have lead to many problems throughout the story.
** She was the cause of [[spoiler:Illya's TenMinuteRetirement]]. Although she intended to [[spoiler:keep her from harm]], her harsh words cause a misunderstanding between the two.
** She [[spoiler:warps Luvia and Rin out of the Mirror World]] and tries to fight [[spoiler:Berserker]] alone. While she does succeed in [[spoiler:taking some of his lives]], her inability to [[spoiler:finish him off]] nearly gets her killed.
** In ''2wei'', she misunderstands Illya's wish to be normal and chooses to face [[spoiler:Chloe]] alone. She takes action without any form of assistance from her allies and doesn't consult anyone about her decision. If Illya hadn't interrupted, the two would have [[spoiler:killed each other.]]
** Later, in an attempt to quickly end the fight, she uses [[spoiler:Bellerophon against Bazett]], ignoring Sapphire's warnings not to do so. Had the [[spoiler:Pegasus]] not been the source of the attack, her heart would have been pierced by [[spoiler:Fragarach.]]
** At the end of ''2wei'', she willingly lets [[spoiler:Card!Gilgamesh absorb]] her so that Illya [[spoiler:can escape]]. All she manages to do is force Illya to engage [[spoiler:Gilgamesh alone]] in order to save her.
* GiveHerANormalLife: [[spoiler:What her brother wanted for her. He fought the Ainsworth in order to send her off to another universe so that she could have a normal, better life. Too bad it didn't last long.]]
* TheGlomp: Does this with [[spoiler:Illya's]] Shirou in ''2wei'', partly due to a misunderstanding, but mainly because [[spoiler:she misses her Shirou.]]
* HiddenDepths: Who would have thought the stoic, serious Miyu [[spoiler:loved bear pajamas and was very spoiled around her brother.]]
* JumpedAtTheCall: Unlike Illya, Miyu immediately agreed to be a MagicalGirl. [[spoiler:Since she had recently arrived in that world and had no where else to go, it isn't surprising she agreed, on the condition they gave her housing and food.]]
* TheLancer: To drive the point home, she uses the Lancer card in her first appearance.
* LeotardOfPower: Her MagicalGirl form, and Assassin Install.
* LikeFatherLikeSon: Female version. Miyu's mother, Hiyoko, was apparently as multi-talented as Miyu was, described as "a high-specs lady that can flawlessly do anything"[[note]]The list of ''revealed'' talents are dancing, performing flower arrangements, performing tea ceremonies, swimming, practice archery, and practice akido. When bored during her free time, she decides to fervently obtain various qualifications, most without any utility, such as bookkeeper, judicial scrivener, TOEIC, boiler engineer, interior coordinator, manicurist, and fugu chef. Again, these are just ''what was revealed''[[/note]] While she could dance, unlike her daughter Miyu, she had her own weakness and that was not being very good with computers, though she was determined to achieve an IT qualification due to the upcoming modern era.
* LuminescentBlush: Beneath her stoic exterior, Miyu is quite capable of being flustered, such as when a half-asleep Illya kisses her, or [[spoiler:when Illya & Kuro find out that, when she's with her brother, Miyu is a somewhat spoiled little girl who wears animal-themed onesie pajamas; Kuro's teasing leads to Miyu going red as a tomato and whacking the other girl with a pillow.]]
* MagicalGirlWarrior: Unlike Illya, she has a decidedly more no-nonsense approach on how to deal with things and is quicker to use precise attacks.
* MakeAWish: ''3rei'' reveals that she was a [[spoiler:Child of God who has the ability to indiscriminately grant wishes]], but loses that ability [[spoiler:when she becomes six years old.]]
* {{Meido}}: In exchange for shelter and living expenses, she works as a maid for Luvia. Once Illya finds out, she goes crazy about the prospect of having a maid as a friend. The results are... interesting.
* MundaneWish: She spent her last wish [[spoiler:to become Shirou's biological sister, changing the color of her eyes from red to that of Shirou's.]]
* NewTransferStudent: She transfers into Illya's school through forged paperwork.
* NoNameGiven: She isn't an Edelfelt by birth but, basically, adoption. Luvia acts like her sister, but her birth family name isn't given.
** ''3rei'' reveals that her full name is [[spoiler:Miyu Emiya, given from her adopted family. Before, her birth name was Miyu Sakatsuki.]]
* NoSocialSkills: When it seems Miyu is absolutely better then Illya in everything, Miyu completely sucks at interacting with others of her age. Justified [[spoiler:by her being kept captive by the Ainsworths because of her power as her universe's Holy Grail, and thus not being able to interact with other children.]]
** It's later revealed that [[spoiler:she was raised alone by her mother as a child and isolated from other children in order to take advantage of her wish granting abilities. After she was adopted by Kiritsugu, he and Shirou raised her in isolation to hide her from others.]]
* NotQuiteFlight: Miyu can't actually fly because she has mental hangups properly picturing it. Instead, she solidifies magical energy to momentarily create footholds mid-air that she can repeatedly jump off of.
* OnlyFriend: While she hangs out with Illya's friends, she still considers Illya [[spoiler:and later also Chloe]] to be her only friend and she frequently dismisses Illya's other friends with varying degrees of insults ranging from refusing to call them her friends to simply not bothering to remember Mimi's existence.
* ParodySue: Miyu is ridiculously good at ''almost everything'', and this is regularly played for comedy; she aces all her tests at school, creates elaborate feasts in Home Ec using only a single frying pan cooks bakes a fabulous wedding cake using only basic school kitchen utensils and leftover ingredients, creates art pieces so breathtaking her teacher questions how she's supposed to grade them, confuses teachers with advanced mathematics, getting a time of 6.9 seconds in a 50 meter dash, etc, and all at the age of ''10 years old''. She's also very powerful both physically and with magic... but she simply can't ''fly'' properly unlike Illya or Chloe, which for a MagicalGirl is a big hindrance. More humorously, she also can't ''dance''.
** In ''3rei'', more is revealed that shows she isn't as perfect as she appeared to be, [[spoiler:courtesy of psychological issues--whatever was done to her before her brother managed to send her to Illya's world made her into [[TheAce an ace]], but left her [[BrokenAce really broken and unable to dream]].]] Still doesn't explain her inhuman cooking skills, but that one might be running in the family.
* PsychosomaticSuperpowerOutage: [[spoiler:She can't fly not because of her knowledge of physics, but because she is too broken to imagine herself capable of flying.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: The quiet and reserved blue to Illyasviel's outgoing and emotional red. This is seen in their Magical Girl outfits, with Miyu possessing a blue outfit and Illya having a pink outfit.
* TheSpock: One of the reasons she can't fly s because she can't work out the logic of flight.
* SteppingStonesInTheSky: Not literal stones, but since Miyu can't fly properly, she instead creates hovering platforms with magic to jump off. Combined with her speed, it's just as efficient as real {{Flight}}.
* TheStoic: Whatever happens to her, she rarely loses her composure unless things get ''really'' critical (or really [[LuminescentBlush embarrassing]]). [[spoiler:''3rei'' gives a bunch of very dark reasons for this.]]
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Lampshaded by [[spoiler:her brother]] no less. It's all Sapphire's fault, though.
-->[[spoiler:'''Miyu's Brother''']]: But. Um. What's with that lewd outfit of hers? I think [[spoiler:big brother]] here may need to lecture her...
* SugarAndIcePersonality: She's usually very stoic and distant, Illya is the only one she shows her sweet side to. Lampshaded at some point from Illya's friends. [[spoiler:She is ''very'' sweet to her brother to the point that Illya and Chloe couldn't believe it when they found out.]]
* SuperMode: [[spoiler:In the final battle, she engages in some reality-bending LoopholeAbuse to restore her powers as the Child of God. She gets a whole new outfit as a result.]]
* SupremeChef: She can cook an entire feast ''with only a frying pan''. More comedically, she also made a whole wedding cake from "left overs".
* TookALevelInBadass: Before meeting Luvia and Sapphire, she was a [[spoiler:DamselinDistress MacGuffinSuperPerson that Shirou has to save from the Ainsworths and who was powerless to fight against her captors]]. after meeting Luvia and Sapphire, she becomes a badass MagicalGirlWarrior who is powerful enough to fight against servants [[spoiler:and when she gets captured again, she tries to resist her captors, unlike before, when she just accepted her fate.]]
* TragicDream: She has two of them. Her first is shared with her brother, [[spoiler:to live a normal life as siblings, which is interrupted by the Holy Grail War]]. Her second dream was to fulfill her brother's wish and live the happy life he wanted her to have, which is shattered when she's taken back to her world.
* TrappedInAnotherWorld: Invoked. Her brother made a wish to save her, but since she couldn't be saved in her own collapsing world, she was sent to a different world where she could be saved, Illya's world.
* UndyingLoyalty: Being the first friend she ever had, Illya means ''everything'' to Miyu and she has several times showed willingness to sacrifice her life to protect Illya from harm.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: [[spoiler:Before she was abducted by Julian, Miyu was very innocent like Illya.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: Becomes this late in ''2wei'' and well into ''3rei'', due to a lot of information regarding her past being delved into.

Illya's cousin, recently transferred in from Germany. Or at least that's the story Illya, and later Irisviel, ''tells'' everyone. In truth she's a sort of a magical clone created by accident when Illya was helping Rin in stabilizing the leyline beneath Fuyuki City, with the core of her being based around the Archer card (which in turn is based on a certain Heroic Spirit).\
\
Her personality however comes from the suppressed memories of Illya's original purpose as the Holy Grail conduit, and she's rather bitter at the fact that Illya's been able to live a normal life ignorant of this.
----
* AbnormalAmmo: Comes with the [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Archer Card]]. Her bow shoots swords, in addition to normal arrows.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: Probably as a reference to [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Archer]].
* AntiHero: She is Kiritsugu's daughter after all. Bonus points for using Heroic Spirit Emiya's abilities, who was also an anti-hero. This pops up in ''3rei'' in that she simply doesn't care that her actions [[spoiler:will result in the destruction of the world]]. She fights for the sake of the people she cares about, and ''only'' those that she cares about.
* ArtificialHuman: She's a magical clone built around the Archer card, and can only continue existing for as long as Illya provides her with prana, or someone doesn't dispel the Archer card.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: Comes with the Archer card, in addition to its Projection magic. Most of its uses are [[PlayedForLaughs humorous, at best]]. It's used more seriously in ''3rei'' when she dispels her {{synchronization}} curse and [[spoiler:instantly identifies one of Kiritsugu's Origin Bullets.]]
* BadassAdorable: Naturally comes with being related to Kiritsugu and Illya.
* BerserkButton: Chloe doesn't like being called a [[spoiler:"secondhand clone".]]
* BigBrotherAttraction: Like Illya, she has her eyes on their foster brother, Shirou.
* BigSisterInstinct: After they reconcile, she looks after Illya and protects her from danger, though she isn't as insistent as Illya in being recognized as the "elder sister" of the household. The episode with her GetAHoldOfYourselfMan for Illya is even titled "for my weak little sister".
* BlackBox: She understands the fundamentals of Projection, but she doesn't know why she knows them. This can be traced to the fact that neither she nor anyone else knows the identity of the Archer Card, which limits her ability to use it. [[spoiler:Once she begins fighting alongside Shirou, she starts to better understand the Card.]]
* BowAndSwordInAccord: The Archer card's powers grant her abilities for both melee and ranged combat.
* CharacterDevelopment: As the [[spoiler:Grail Conduit of Illya gained sentience]], she starts out as vicious and resentful towards Illya for wanting to go back to a normal life, namely because it means she would cease to exist because of [[spoiler:rejecting her original purpose as the Conduit]]. Once Illya makes it clear she doesn't want Chloe to disappear though, she slowly but surely comes around, and aside from "sisterly" spats and teasing becomes one of Illya's most loyal allies. She later returns the favor by helping Illya with her own Character Development.
* CombatPragmatist:
** She's a difficult enemy for Illya and Miyu not because she's strong, but because she's a tricky opponent to fight. She takes full advantage of the Archer Card's strengths, using Projection for its utility and sniping her enemies from afar.
** In ''3rei'', she [[spoiler:defeats Angelica by teleporting into her blind spot while Shirou acts as a decoy.]]
* DarkMagicalGirl: Unlike Illya who in this series led a happy life, Chloe was sealed away and, once freed, proceeded to direct her pent-up anger against Illya, coming very close to killing her several times before Illya can even attempt to understand what's happening. In a very classic turn of events, Chloe eventually confesses that all she wants is to be alive and have family/friends. Things work out in the end.
* DepravedBisexual: She usually acquires mana via kisses, which she usually takes from Illya or Miyu. She does mention she could get mana from anyone and would be more than happy to acquire mana from Illya's brother, though this was more an attempt to blackmail Illya into kissing her.
* DirtyKid: She has the appearance of a ten-year-old girl, but the mentality of brash and lewd teenager.
* DualWielding: Kanshou and Bakuya, Archer's dual daggers.
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: She's technically Illya with a constant Archer Install, so her Projection and (as Illya's classmates unfortunately learn) SuperStrength are always on. "Transforming" into her combat attire is more of a formality than anything else.
* EnemyWithout: Averted after being accepted into Illya's family.
* EvilTwin: Less evil, more frustrated at the pointlessness of her existence, at least at first. Averted later on when she makes a HeelFaceTurn and actively supports Illya.
* {{Expy}}: She is basically the original ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'' Illyasveil inserted into ''Kaleid Liner Prisma'''s AlternateContinuity. She also has shades of the original Archer, wearing a similar outfit to his, being a DeadpanSnarker, and having antagonistic (and rather homoerotic) relationship with Illya, [[spoiler:only she's a magical clone of Illya, while Archer is Shirou's future self in the original continuity.]] Thankfully she ends up friendlier than either of her bases due to Illya befriending her.
* FilleFatale: Successfully seduced several of Illya's friends, and has repeatedly attempted to do the same to [[BigBrotherAttraction Shirou]].
%%* {{Foil}}: To Illya. Ruby even lampshades it.
* ForcefulKiss: She needs to kiss people to replenish her mana, and she's not generally fussed about getting consent first. She forcefully French kisses Miyu during their first fight to acquire mana, and keeps it up until she's incapacitated. She also does this with Illya, all of Illya's friends, and their teacher.
* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: [[spoiler:Her fight with Illya in ''3rei'' boils down to this.]]
* GirlishPigtails: Likes wearing these when she's in casual dress. To differentiate from how Illya does her hair, Chloe's twintails are usually higher on her head, much like Rin's. Weirdly enough, in the AnimatedAdaptation she only has one of them on her right side.
* HadesShaded: She has Illya's body with Archer's color scheme imposed on it, full-body tan included. The only thing stopping it from being a 1:1 PaletteSwap is her hair.
* HeelFaceTurn: More like heel face pound on the head courtesy of Irisviel.
* InSeriesNickname: She is also Illya, so Rin started calling her ''Kuro'' (Black) because of her darker skin to differentiate the two of them. Kuro then took a Western equivalent, "Chloe", for her new name.
--> Chloe: "Kuro? What am I, a cat...?"
* InterruptedIntimacy: She frequently tries to get her mana transfer sessions with Illya to go beyond just kissing, but is interrupted each time she tries to do so.
* IntimateHealing: Chloe obtains the mana she needs to survive by consuming saliva she obtains by kissing people, and notes that she gets ten times the amount of mana from [[ScrewYourself Illya]] than from anyone else, and teases Illya with [[SexMagic alternatives to kissing]] that she knows Illya would never agree to.
* KryptoniteFactor: As a being almost literally made of mana, anything that inflicts a ManaDrain is bad news for Chloe, leaving her paralyzed and exhausted.
* TheLancer: Even more so than Miyu. [[spoiler:And she take's Miyu's place as Illya's number-two during ''3rei'', thanks to the former being kidnapped.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}:
** "Shoujo Shinka", or EMIYA. It first plays when she fights the Saber Card in Illya's body and again when the party fights [[spoiler:Gilgamesh.]]
** She also has "Shoujo yo, Hoshi ni Nare" in her ''VideoGame/FateGrandOrder'' appearance.
* LiteralSplitPersonality: Though Illya's original memories as the Grail Conduit were sealed, they were not gone; they continued to grow and learn inside of her, and the accident when investigating the Earth Pulse allowed them to split off and take form, resulting in Chloe.
* LittleMissSnarker: Another reference to [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Archer]].
* LivingOnBorrowedTime: Chloe is functionally a Servant, requiring mana and an anchor to survive [[spoiler:even after wishing for a more stable body]]. While the anchor is handled by the Archer Card as a SoulJar, the permanent Archer Install makes Chloe incompatible with a Kaleidostick, leaving her unable to replenish mana on her own. Spit-swapping with Illya and friends isn't (just) for {{Fanservice}}; it what keeps her alive.
* LovableSexManiac: She knows a whole lot more about sex than a girl of her apparent age should, mostly because her original nature as the Grail Conduit means having knowledge of all things magic, including SexMagic to get mana from other people. While this is justified since she needs mana to sustain her existence, Chloe also clearly enjoys seducing and teasing people, ''especially'' Illya (who also happens to give her ''much'' more mana than anyone else).
* MakeAWish: Her wish is to have her own existence. Her own nature as an incomplete Grail grants it.
* MundaneUtility:
** She uses Projection to make clothes, including her battle wear. She also uses it to make a chair.
** The MakeAWish aspect of the Holy Grail gave Chloe a more stable body. It's also a handy medium for {{Teleportation}} and CombatClairvoyance.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler:Chloe using the Origin Bullet to kill Darius at first seemed like a fitting HeroicSacrifice since he was going to kill her anyway... if it wasn't for the fact that Darius can regenerate himself with his thorns by taking over a new host. So not only was Chloe's sacrifice [[SenselessSacrifice pointless]], but it made things worse since Darius channeled his concept into the Giant King to herald the end of the world.]]
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: While "Chloe" is her ([[UndeadTaxExemption assumed]]) formal name, "Kuro" continues to be frequently used by most of the cast. Compounding the issue, at least among foreign fans, is the inconsistency with which name is used in fan translations.
* RetGone: [[spoiler:After Illya's time travel causes other characters to forget about her, it also removes their memories of Chloe completely to the point that it was like she didn't even exist in the first place. While Miyu and Beatrice have vague memories of Illya, Miyu thinks that she was the one to shoot Darius with the Origin Bullet using Archer Install. However, while memories of Chloe might be gone, the events that involve her haven't disappeared, as Sakura is still able to create copies of Kanshou.]]
* ScrewYourself: Chloe [[IntimateHealing acquires the mana she needs to survive from kissing people]], and notes that while she could do it with anyone, it's far more effective with Illya. As a result, she makes out with Illya on multiple occasions in a ''very'' intimate fashion. When Illya asks if there are any alternatives to kissing, Chloe states that there [[SexMagic are but that Illya would never agree to them]]. Chloe herself isn't opposed to those alternative methods, and openly tries to initiate more intimate encounters between herself and Illya.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: Takes this up since [[spoiler:she takes Rin's place in explaining things for ''3rei''.]]
* StepfordSmiler: [[spoiler:[[LivingOnBorrowedTime Due to her unstable existence]], she doesn't value her own life above others. She's not as extreme as [[MartyrWithoutACause Shirou]], but it's still enough that Miyu's brother lectures her about it.]]
* StormOfBlades: She can fire swords as projectiles using Projection, but not to the same extent that [[spoiler:Gilgamesh]] can do it.
* SuccubiAndIncubi: While kinder and tamer than most depictions and definitely not a demon, her need to replenish mana to survive and ability (and apparent preference) to do it with SexMagic makes her a succubus in all but name. "Kissing Demon" is not one of her nicknames for nothing!
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: Downplayed. Chloe is an antagonistic version of Illya herself with all the mage training Illya lacks, though she's just angry about being sealed rather than outright evil. This also leads Chloe to an eventual HeelFaceTurn.
* {{Synchronization}}: With Illya. Even if there is a mage who can remove the curse, she decides to keep it because she likes Illya, in her own strange way. [[spoiler:She removes the curse in ''3rei'' in order to fight Illya.]]
* TakingYouWithMe: [[spoiler:Darius Ainsworth has been destroying Class Cards from within the girls' bodies with impunity, and Chloe feels when it's about to happen to her. She responds by taking the [[AntiMagic Origin Bullet]] that Shirou gave her earlier and ramming it into her chest -- and into Darius' displaced hand that's grabbing her card, ensuring a mutual kill.]]
* {{Teleportation}}: She has this instead of Illya and Miyu's ([[NotQuiteFlight Not Quite]]) {{Flight}}, capable of warping short distances. This makes containing her an exercise in futility, much to the others' frustration during her stint as an antagonist.
* {{Tsundere}}: Very frequently toward Illya, who even notes this outright in one episode.
* WalkingSpoiler: She becomes integral to ''2wei''[='=]s plot, and the importance of her role also extends to ''3rei''.
* WeakButSkilled: Unlike Illya and Miyu, she doesn't have a Kaleidostick to use, and being permanently bonded to the Archer card prevents her from switching Installs. She more than makes up for this in her combat prowess and knowledge on how the Archer card works.
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: Like the original Illya from ''stay night'', Chloe has an in-depth knowledge of magecraft and [[spoiler:the Holy Grail]] as well as the requisite intelligence to use it. As a result she has the mind of a grown adult, but she acts like a child to better bond with Illya and Miyu.

A pair of sentient magical artifacts created by [[TheArchmage Zelrech]], Ruby and Sapphire were initially loaned to Rin and Luvia to accomplish the card gathering mission. They are tools of immense power derived from the Second Magic Kaleidoscope, granting the user an ability to draw mana from alternate worlds, that would likely kill a normal wizard... only if they feel like it.\
\
They eventually grew tired of the near-constant squabbling that the two female mages did, and went on their way to find more... appropriate masters. Although technically made at the same time, Ruby sees herself as the older sister, and is treated that way by Sapphire.
----
* BigBrotherInstinct: Well, big sister, actually. This is Ruby towards Sapphire.
* CatGirl:
** Ruby's MagicalGirl costume for Rin.
** Both Ruby and Sapphire also come up with the "Beast Mode" outfits for Illya and Miyu (as well as inspiring one for Kuro), which are essentially {{stripperific}} takes on this trope.
* ClingyMacGuffin: They will force Illya and Miyu to be magical girls until such time as they feel like annulling the contract. And no one else can do anything to change that.
* CovertPervert: Despite her soft-spoken, straight-man personality, Sapphire is fond of dressing the girls in revealing dresses, as seen in Miyu and Illya's Sapphire form.
* DeadpanSnarker: Sapphire more so than her sister.
* EmpathicWeapon: They basically use the power of a person's heart to pull infinite power from the multi-verse.
* {{Expy}}: Their GenkiGirl and ShrinkingViolet sisters routine is based on how Kohaku and Hisui act in TYPE-MOON's ''VisualNovel/{{Tsukihime}}'' series. They even have the same Japanese voice actors in the anime.
* ExtradimensionalPowerSource: As sentient applications of the Second Magic, Ruby and Sapphire can access alternate dimensions, such as the Mirror Worlds where the Class Cards reside -- but their most common use is to supply their wielders with regulated, infinite mana pulled from other realms.
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: Ruby is the foolish and carefree one, while Sapphire is the responsible and dutiful one.
* FusionDance: Capable of doing this to achieve Zwei form.
* HeroicComedicSociopath: Their first plan to deal with anything is generally "blast it with maximum prejudice". And they both seem to loathe Rin and Luvia. Though, really, this applies far, far more to Ruby than Sapphire, who is much more reasonable and has been known to shut down Ruby's antics when they get out of hand and punish her accordingly. Note that Ruby's behaviour is ''toned down'' compared to her appearance in ''VisualNovel/FateHollowAtaraxia'', where she is really into humiliating her own master, specifically Rin.
* HypocriticalHumor: In one of the ''2wei'' specials, Ruby chews out Taiga (whom Ruby approached out of boredom to see how other people would use it's power) for wanting to use Ruby's power for violence, when in fact both Ruby and Sapphire claimed in the first season that they "blast enemies with extreme prejudice" as their first response.
* ItAmusedMe: A lot of Ruby's actions revolve around doing things for her own amusement, namely doing things like injecting Shirou with a TruthSerum or temporarily transferring users for the heck of it.
* LoyalPhlebotinum: Refuse to leave Illya and Miyu, first out of annoyance with Rin and Luvia, but later out of loyalty to the two girls.
* MagicWand: Both of them. They also both happen to be sentient, allowing them to fill the roles of the typical MagicalGirl's wand ''and'' the MentorMascot.
* MentorMascot: Both of them towards their second users, but especially Ruby towards Illya, who helps teach her the ins and outs of her powers. Unlike most examples, they aren't cute animals but talking {{Magic Wand}}s.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Although Sapphire is the more level-headed of the two, she does have her moments to prove she's Ruby's sister, ascribing to "shoot first and ask questions later" and vocally expressing her disdain for Rin and Luvia.
* RedOniBlueOni: Magical Ruby is the extroverted Red Oni and Magical Sapphire is the introverted Blue Oni.
* ServileSnarker: To their initial masters, Rin and Luvia. [[WithFriendsLikeThese Not the sticks' fault]].
* SiblingIncest: Magical Ruby acts this way towards Magical Sapphire in Episode 7. Sapphire wasn't having it.
* TalkingWeapon: Both of them, since they're both used to fight any enemies that their users come up against while still being able to communicate with said users. Interestingly, they can still talk even when their user is using an Include or Install.
* {{Troll}}: Ruby, oh so much. The first two anime specials in particular can be summed up as "Ruby trolls Illya and Rin ''endlessly''".

Ruby's former master, and a mage-in-study at the Tower of London. In the manga she gets roped into retrieving the cards from Fuyuki City after she gets into a brawl with Luvia that destroyed a ''huge'' chunk of the school, while in the anime she volunteers when she hears that, if she succeeds, she'd be taken under Zeltrech's wing as an apprentice.\
\
While being typically abrasive and possessing a hair-trigger temper (''especially'' with regards to Luvia), Rin shows real concern to Illya, and understands that the responsibilities thrust onto the girl might be too much for a girl her age to bear.
----
* ACupAngst: Some things don't change for Rin no matter which universe it is.
* AdaptationalJerkass: She's willing to declare a child as her slave and make her fight corrupted heroes against her will. And in [[Manga/AllAroundTypeMoon a side story where Prismaverse Illya meets main story Rin]], she considers her much nicer than the pushier, bossy counterpart she's used to. It takes a bit before she realizes the danger Illya faces and softens towards her.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: In ''3rei'', she and Luvia have been [[spoiler:subjected to the Ainsworths' "doll-ification" thanks to Angelica's powers.]]
* ButtMonkey: Alongside Luvia. Most frequently during battles.
* CatGirl: When transformed into Kaleido Ruby, she gains cat ears and a tail.
* ClingyJealousGirl: She hates it if anyone is trying to get close to Shirou, especially Luvia.
* CombatPragmatist: To the point even Luvia has respect for this quality of Rin.
* GemstoneAssault: Like her "stay night" self, her signature magic attack is launching gems at her opponent. This lands her in hot water when she uses the last of her Gems beating Berserker and shooting down Luvia's helicopter, forcing her to get a job as Luvia's maid to pay back the gems she spent.
* InSpiteOfANail:
** Just like "stay night", she falls for Shirou and it contributes to her rivalry with Luvia.
** [[spoiler:She still ends up estranged from her sister Sakura, who was still given to the Matous.]]
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Thanks to her family not getting involved in the Grail Wars here, she doesn't know the Einzberns are one of the founding families or that the Grail Wars were even a thing to begin with.
* LoveAtFirstSight: She first fell for Shirou when they were kids and she saw him attempting to pole vault.
* MagicalGirl: Was one before Magical Ruby switched her for Illya. Now she's a regular magus.
* {{Meido}}: Works for Luvia as a maid starting in ''2wei'' because she needs funds to replenish her supply of gems. She wears the usual uniform but is more ServileSnarker in how she acts.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: When she watches Illya face off against [[spoiler:a seemingly endless horde of powerful mud dolls]] it finally sinks in to Rin just how much her recklessness put Illya through.
* MythologyGag:
** To begin with, Rin dons her Magical Ruby attire from ''VisualNovel/FateHollowAtaraxia''.
** Her pose with Illya in chapter 1 is taken straight from ''stay night'''s signature scene where Saber first meets Shirou. The difference is, this time Rin asks Illya to be ''her'' Servant.
** The letter Rin sends to Illya for their first mission is a reference to the ''Heaven's Feel'' route, where Rin sends a similar letter to Shirou.
** Apparently Rin and Sakura are still estranged sisters, [[spoiler:as Rin asks about Sakura's fate in Miyu's world]].
* {{Ojou}}: It is ambiguous if Rin, or the Tohsaka family in general, is as rich and/or prestigious in this continuity as in main ''Stay Night'' Canon. On one hand, she has to work as a maid for Luvia for lack of funds for gem sorcery. On the other hand, the circumstances that led to her family's financial foes in main canon no longer exist (i.e. Kotomine becoming her guardian and mismanaging her inheritance). She certainly acts haughty and deplores Luvia as "new money" in contrast to herself.
* OppositesAttract: She admits that Shirou's own philosophy is the exact opposite of hers, but she still likes him.
* TheRival: To Luvia. Both in magic and love.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: Rin's 'explain things' glasses make a triumphant return when Rin and co. are having a strategy meeting. She even dons them in her maid outfit.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: For all their showing of supposed hatred, Rin and Luvia constantly seem to work together and support each other when they really need to. And then go back to being at each other's throats.
* TookALevelInKindness: She lets Illya off the hook after noticing the girl's deteriorating emotional condition after her first fight against Berserker. Compare that to Rin at the beginning of the series, who outright declares Illya her Servant and forces her into fights she has no business in.
* {{Tsundere}}: Rin is Rin, it doesn't matter in which universe. That said, this incarnation shows more of her ''dere'' side than Rin normally does, as with her smiling and praising Illya for her showing in her first battle. LampShaded by Chloe when Rin uses a typical "I'm not doing this for your sake" speech to Shirou.
-->'''Chloe:''' "Wow, that's a template."
* VitriolicBestBuds: She and Luvia have essentially become this by ''3rei'', with their arguments being less frequent and less intense than they've been in the past. The situation [[CerebusSyndrome becoming more serious than before]] helps.
* TheWorfBarrage: Her ''Grandr'' is used against the Rider card to show how high the Magic Resistance of the Cards is.
* WorkOffTheDebt: After blowing all her gems thanks to her DestructiveSaviour tendencies and competing with Luvia, she's left to work off the Gems she spent. She ends up working for Luvia as a maid.

[[caption-width-right:300:[[labelnote:Click here to see her using Magical Sapphire]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/luvia_kaleido_sapphire.png[[/labelnote]]]]

Sapphire's former master, and like Rin, a mage-in-training at the Clock Tower of London. Despite being ostensibly on the same side, the fact that Luvia utterly ''loathes'' Rin makes her treat their task as a competition with the Japanese mage rather than a cooperative mission. She's proud, snooty, and very ''very'' rich, all things that infuriate Rin to no end. However underneath all this she does keep a sensitive side, though it's likely no one but Miyu has been able to witness it. After she lost her contract with Sapphire to Miyu, Luvia took Miyu in and decided to mentor her.\
\
In a bit of irony, in the mainline ''stay night'', she and Rin are distant cousins, but with the changes to the nature of the Grail War in Prisma Illya, it begs to be seen whether this is still the case.
----
* AscendedExtra: Having been mentioned in ''VisualNovel/FateHollowAtaraxia'' in passing as Rin's bitter enemy, she has much larger role in this series.
* BigFancyHouse: And one that Sella observed was built from the ground up over the course of ''one day''.
-->'''Illya:''' Weren't there a row of normal houses here this morning?!?
* BigSisterInstinct: Miyu is her little sister. Regardless of what lurks in Miyu's past, she is part of the Edelfelt family now and so Luvia will hug her, protect her and support her.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: In ''3rei''. Much like Rin, Luvia [[spoiler:mindlessly serves the Ainsworths as a maid through Angelica's manipulations.]]
* BuxomBeautyStandard: She is much bustier than Rin, which sparks [[ACupAngst Rin's jealousy]].
--> '''Illya:''' ''[at seeing them in a bust-emphasized maid outfit]'' Whoa... what a difference...
* ButtMonkey: Alongside Rin. Most frequently during battles.
* CoolBigSis:
** To Miyu. She provides for her education, clothes, and house, in addition to mentoring her.
** She also seeks to be this to Illya, hoping it will help her get with Shirou.
* DieOrFly: Her first attempt to teach Miyu to fly has her drop her out of a ''Helicopter''. It doesn't work.
* Fiction500: She's rich enough to build a giant mansion in the middle of a Japanese suburb in a matter of few days, give Miyu a credit card with enough money to buy an entire shopping mall empty on a whim and throw around ''hundreds'' of her extremely expensive magical gemstones without feeling any financial blowback.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She likes making life miserable for Rin and generally treats anyone else with a measure of condescension. On the other hand, Luvia is noticeably more polite and considerate towards Illya and Miyu.
* LittleBitBeastly: When using Magical Sapphire, she gains dog ears and a dog's tail. This mirrors how Rin becomes a CatGirl as Kaleido Ruby, and it also alludes to how the two of them fight [[CatDogDichotomy like cats and dogs]].
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Despite how long she's known Rin, she doesn't know [[spoiler:Sakura is her little sister]]. This makes her routinely confused at how Rin knows so much about [[spoiler:Miyuverse Sakura's]] abilities.
* MagicalGirl: Like Rin, she was one before Magical Sapphire switched her for Miyu.
* MentorArchetype: She becomes this to Miyu after Sapphire chooses her to be a MagicalGirl.
* NouveauRiche: She isn't one, but Rin occasionally calls her "new money" as an insult due to how frequently and arrogantly she flaunts her wealth.
* NoblewomansLaugh: She really likes giving a smug "Ohohohoho".
* {{Ojou}}: She exhibits all the characteristics of one. Living in a BigFancyHouse with tons of money that she's all too willing to use to get her way, and even OjouRinglets.
* PrivilegedRival: She is once again this to Rin. A factor of their rivalry is that Luvia is wealthy enough to spam Jewel Magic as much as she wants, where as Rin needs to be careful not to bankrupt herself from over using them.
* RichBitch: She's not really a bitch, but qualifies since she looks down on people because of her money and pedigree. Especially towards Rin. Downplayed or nonexistent with Miyu and Illya.
* TheRival: To Rin. Both in magic and love, which is just two of the things that they constantly squabble over.
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveMoney: When she feels it is necessary, Luvia will use this to help Miyu and Illya.
* SmittenTeenageGirl: Just like in the main series, she acts this way around Shirou.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: For all their showing of supposed hatred, Rin and Luvia constantly seem to work together and support each other when they really need to. And then go back to being at each other's throats.
* VitriolicBestBuds: She and Rin have essentially become this by ''3rei'', with their arguments being less frequent and less intense than they've been in the past. The situation [[CerebusSyndrome becoming more serious than before]] helps.
* WrestlerInAllOfUs: In any continuity, Luvia is still an expert at catch-as-catch-can wrestling. She even defeats [[spoiler:Assassin Shinji]] with a classic German suplex (albeit in a non-canon GagReel).

[[folder:Bazett Fraga [=McRemitz=]]]
!!Bazett Fraga [=McRemitz=]
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/HitomiNabatame (Japanese), Kaytha Coker (English)
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bazett_1.png]]

The strongest enforcer of the Mage Association, and the original agent assigned to retrieve the Class Cards, before Zelretch intervened. Despite being a normal human, she possesses a strength rivaling that of the Cards' manifested Heroic Spirits.\
\
She appears midway into 2wei, trying to take back the cards that both Rin and Luvia had collected at that point. It is during this encounter that she reveals just how ''powerful'' she is, as she takes out most of the main cast very handily. It is only after the revelation that there's an ''eighth'' card slumbering in the city that she is forced to retreat, and eventually ally with Illya and her friends to deal with the new threat.
----
* AdaptationalBadass: In [[VisualNovel/FateHollowAtaraxia her original story]], while she is noted to be a Sealing Designation Enforcer and one of the best if not ''the'' best, her prowess verges more on InformedAbility due to the story's circumstances. Here though, we get to see Bazett in top form, and she's just as scary as advertised; she takes out ''two'' of the Class Card Servants pre-plot, and even if they are below true Servants on the power scale, they're still not something a lone human should be brawling with.
* TheBerserker: She is compared to THE Berserker in series. She is also compared to classical berserkers when she [[spoiler:charges ''through'' Gilgamesh's StormOfBlades and rips his heart out]].
* TheBigGuy: She's worse at using Magecraft than Rin and Luvia, but she's by far the most capable physical combatant in Illya's group. ''[[WordOfGod And this is canon]]''. Her acts in ''Prisma Illya'' include tanking Bellerophon, beating down the rest of the group, killing the Archer and Lancer cards alone, and gouging out Gilgamesh's heart. In ''3rei'', [[spoiler:she pierces Beatrice's heart with Fragarach.]]
* BoyishShortHair: As you can see in her picture, her hair is short and she's a very masculine woman.
* CardboardBoxHome: Lives under one after getting her assets seized. Doesn't seem to bother her though.
* CharlesAtlasSuperPower: Tore down Luvia's mansion and ripped a two meter chunk out of her front lawn with her bare hands alone.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Lets just say that what passes for common sense for this version of Bazett doesn't apply for everyone else.
--> '''Illya, Miyu, and Chloe:''' Something seems to be wrong with this person!
* TheComicallySerious: She sells ice pops with the same fervor that she has in battle. Heck, ''each part-time job'' she does later on has her with this same, serious, and deadpan fervor, and the result each time is hilarious.
* CounterAttack: Her Mystic Code and Noble Phantasm ''Fragarach: Gouging Sword of the War God''. It works on a similar principle as Gae Bolg, but is defensive in nature, making it less effective against an enemy who isn't using their strongest attack. When used against [[spoiler:Rider!Miyu's Bellerophon]] it strikes the heart of the [[spoiler:Pegasus, instead of the attacker, the reason being that Miyu is only channeling Rider instead of being an actual Heroic Spirit]].
* CurbStompBattle: She's first introduced defeating Luvia and her butler Auguste with ease, and when Illya and Chloe show up to investigate what's happening, Bazett gives them a similar beating. It takes [[spoiler:Miyu riding Bellerophon]] to at least even the playing field, ''and then'' [[spoiler:a carefully planned [[{{Synchronization}} Master-Slave binding spell]], as well as the revelation of a hidden 8th card,]] to convince her to temporarily call a truce.
* DontMakeMeDestroyYou: She knows the heroes don't stand a chance and makes it clear that if they just hand over the cards nobody has to get hurt.
* DumbMuscle: Rin and Luvia call her such because of the brutish way she approaches every problem and how gullible she is to the tricks they pull on her.
* EnemyMine:
** Once it's revealed that there's [[spoiler:an eighth card lurking in Fuyuki]], she backs off her attack, decides to reach a compromise with the others, and later helps them in their effort to retrieve it.
** Later, she teams up with Team Illya in ''3rei'', [[spoiler:where they have to rescue Miyu in the alternate world ruled by the Ainsworths]].
* FightsLikeANormal: Unlike traditional mages like Luvia or Rin, the most magecraft we see from Bazett is her empowering herself with runes and utilizing her Mystic Code. Most of her fights are won by punching the hell out of the opposition. Despite that, she was the one who beat the Archer and Lancer cards without outside assistance.
* HeroInsurance: Averted; Mage's Association has no intention of covering the cost of property damage that her rampage has caused, and unlike Luvia, she doesn't have the finances to cover such things, causing her to become homeless and having to work menial labor to cover the costs.
* HotBlooded: It doesen't matter if it's fighting for the Mage's Association, serving as a maid or selling ice cream, she will do it with ''extreme passion''. She's often so passionate in fact, that in menial labour, she just scares away her customers because she shouts at them so hard.
* TheJuggernaut: Just about every opponent she's faced (even Gilgamesh!) has been unable to do jack against her unstoppable fighting style. That is, until Darius enters the scene and flattens her, Chloe and Illya without much effort.
* KungFuProofMook: Fragarach renders her immune to {{Finishing Move}}s, to the point of rewinding time to kill the user before they can even pull it off.
* LaserGuidedKarma: She goes broke from having to pay for destroying Luvia's manor and is forced to take odd jobs to pay up.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Kanojo to no Kaikou", her battle theme.
* NoNonsenseNemesis: Trying to play one ultimately bites her in the ass, as just storming into Luvia's mansion and declaring "Hand over the cards or I'll take them by force" while refusing to talk means she doesn't hear about the eighth card until she nearly killed the only people who know where it is, as well as destroying Luvia's mansion, which results in her getting saddled with the repair costs and going broke.
* NotSoStoic: She actually gets embarrassed when she is tricked into wearing a frilly dress that Luvia usually wears.
* PowerGlows: Her fists and feet glow green when she's charging them with magical power for a finishing strike or an exchange of blows with a high-powered opponent.
* PunchClockVillain: Under orders from [[RightHandVersusLeftHand another faction in the Mage Association]] to finish the job of retrieving the Class Cards. Once they become allies, she's a pretty nice person, if [[GoodIsNotSoft a little rough around the edges]].
* {{Synchronization}}: Gets subjected to [[spoiler:the same Master-Slave binding spell that Rin used on Chloe to tie her to Illya]]. Though she claims it doesn't stop her -- she is still ready to just beat Illya half to death, while her own stamina would keep her conscious. Later, she found a certain nun who can cancel such magic and had the curse removed.
* TakeOurWordForIt: We don't see what happens when Ruby unintentionally uses her simulation mode on Bazett in one of the ''2wei!'' specials, but apparently Bazett's MagicalGirl form is something so horrifying for Ruby, that she became genuinely sick from seeing it.
* WorfHadTheFlu: Bazett's introduction is her completely thrashing all the heroines at once to establish her threat level. Unfortunately for her, every fight after that pits her up against something ''far'' more monstrous than the Class Card Servants everyone is used to fighting -- the Eighth Card is only the first.
* WorkOffTheDebt: After damaging Luvia's mansion, she's billed for it and forced to pay for it herself.
* WouldHurtAChild: [[JustifiedTrope Justified]], since she recognizes that if Illya and Kuro are involved with Rin and Luvia they're clearly not ordinary children. Of course, she's JustFollowingOrders, and later [[WhatTheHellHero chews out Rin]] for [[HarmfulToMinors getting children involved in deadly business]] in the first place.
[[/folder]]

!The Cards
[[folder:In General]]
The physical form and corrupted manifestations of the Class Cards. Each one represents the Heroic Spirit of their source, and being the method of fighting Holy Grail Wars in Miyu's world.
----
!!Tropes Associated with all of the Cards:
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: They're this continuity's version of Blackened Servants. Each Heroic Spirit has their personality suppressed and replaced with a single-minded desire to obtain the Holy Grail, but they still retain their skills and combat ability unlike someone with [[PowerBornOfMadness Mad Enhancement]]. Their lack of an ego makes them less powerful (and thus possible to defeat), but much more violent.
* DegradedBoss: They're not true Servants like those summoned in the ''stay night'' continuity, but more like diminished versions. They're still horribly destructive, but unlike the real things they can be defeated through mortal means.
* DiscardAndDraw: {{Pun}} aside, some of them seem to have different powers to compensate for their lowered stats. Saber has an AntiMagic barrier on top of her magic resistance. [[spoiler:Shinji's]] Assassin can make a giant FleshGolem instead of [[spoiler:summoning an actual demon]] and Lancer can [[spoiler:turn into a werewolf]]. [[spoiler:It's also shown that they can change classes.]]
* EleventhHourRanger: [[spoiler:Miyu uses her power as the Holy Grail to summon Lancer, Rider, Caster, Saber, Assassin, and Berserker against Darius. It also marks the first time in the series where proper servants with their personalities intact are summoned instead of just manifestations of the Class Cards.]]
* EvilCostumeSwitch: Every Heroic Spirit appears as an Alter variant.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:In ''3rei'', most of them are eventually destroyed one by one. The only remaining cards left are two Berserker cards and the second Archer card.]]
* LoadBearingBoss: When a Heroic Spirit is defeated, the space it resided in collapses, returning the girls back to the real world.
* MalevolentMaskedMan: All of the manifested Heroic Sprits, except the [[spoiler:second Archer card]] and the Berserker card have masks.
* MirrorWorld: Each card exists in an alternate plane that can be entered using the Kaleidosticks.
* PublicDomainCharacter: Like the Servant's they're based on, they are mostly based on famous heroes from legends and history.
* ReforgedIntoAMinion: [[spoiler:The true purpose of the Class Cards is not to summon a Heroic Spirit, but to ''bind'' them so the Card's owners can use their power for themselves, rather than having to negotiate or contract with the Heroic Spirit properly.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Rider]]
!!Rider (Medusa the Gorgon)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/riderkaleid.jpg]]

The first Card fought by Illya and retrieved by Miyu. Using Berserker's Succession Inheritance, Illya can use the monstrous version of Medusa, the Gorgon.\
\
This card grants the bridle to summon and control Medusa's Pegasus, as well as her petrifying Mystic Eyes.
----
* FragileSpeedster: She's quick, but even Illya's basic attacks are enough to hurt her.
* LightningBruiser: [[spoiler:Her Berserker Succession is Gorgon, the monster form of Medusa. Her Install allows Illya to physically match Beatrice's Thor Install.]]
* NonindicativeName: Her class card is Rider, but she spends her entire battle on foot and is never shown riding anything.
* NoSell: Thanks to her Rank B Magic Resistance, most magic attacks won't work on her.
* {{Pegasus}}: Summoned with Bellerophon to rams an enemy with the speed of a comet.
* TakenForGranite: Rider Class Card user can petrify their opponent with Medusa's Mystic Eyes.
* WaveMotionGun: Bellerophon is one. She attempts to use it on Illya and Rin, but Miyu pierces her heart with Gae Bolg before she can.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Caster]]
!!Caster (Medea the Witch)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/casterkaleid.jpg]]

The second Card fought by Illya and Miyu. She can fire massive barrages of magical artillery, in addition to several other magic-based attacks.\
\
This Class Card grants the magical knowledge of magic from the Age of Gods, the High-Speed Divine Words skill, and the magic-canceling dagger, Rule Breaker.
----
* AntiMagic: Her Noble Phantasm Rule breaker. [[spoiler:Illya uses it to undo Julian's disguise in ''3rei'']].
* EarlyBirdBoss: Caster's heavily fortified arena presents far more of a challenge than Rider, and convinces Rin and Luvia that they and their "apprentices" will have to [[TeethClenchedTeamwork work together]] to collect the Class Cards. Illya and Miyu learn to trust each other and work as a team, playing off each others' strengths, and their [[FireForgedFriends friendship blossoms from taking on the ordeal together]]. Everyone establishes their skillset, and things start to come together. [[spoiler:Then [[MassOhCrap Saber shows up]].]]
* LadyOfBlackMagic: Wearing a slitted dress and able to cast massive magical artillery.
%%* MoreDakka:
%%* ShockAndAwe:
* SquishyWizard: She's vulnerable without her magical shields.
* {{Teleportation}}: Like in ''Stay/Night'', her use of teleportation is a major reason she is such a threat.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Saber]]
!!Saber (King Arthur)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/saberkaleid.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:250:[[labelnote:Click here to see her without her armor]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/saberkaleid2.jpg[[/labelnote]]]]

The manifestation of the Saber Card. She shares a plane with Caster and is fought immediately by Illya's party after the former is defeated.\
\
She's covered within a dense mist of mana that protects her from magical attacks and her sword is capable of firing waves of black energy. This Class Card grants the magical defense of King Arthur and the legendary sword Excalibur.\
\
In Miyu's world, the Saber Card was used by Zachary Ainsworth.
----
* AntiMagic: She has very high resistance to magic, owing to her Class. She is also covered by a mana barrier that deflects spells.
* BlackSwordsAreBetter: She wields a red-and-black version of Excalibur.
* MightyGlacier: She's a fair bit slower than Berserker and Rider, but she is extremely resistant against magical attacks and her [[SwordBeam sword beams]] can ignore magical protections.
* MythologyGag:
** She is directly based on [[BreakoutVillain Saber Alter]]. Even better, she faces off against [[BowAndSwordInAccord Archer]] Illya, in a parallel to [[spoiler:Shirou and Saber Alter's DuelToTheDeath]] in ''[[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Heaven's Feel's]]'' fan-favorite ''Sparks Liner High'' ending.
** Illya's version of Saber Install clad her in Saber Lily's outfit.
** [[spoiler:Zachary's version of Saber Install grants him the appearance of male King Arthur from Fate/Prototype, with his helmet-clad appearance from a concept illustration.]]
* SwordBeam: Her sword, Excalibur, can fire a massive red-and-black blast of energy. [[spoiler:Zachary's version is the signature golden beam instead.]]
* WakeUpCallBoss: Unlike the first two class cards, who go down rather quickly, Saber proves to be a much more formidable foe, down to taking down Rin, Luvia, ''and'' Miyu at one point.
* WaveMotionGun: Excalibur's actual ability. The [[SwordBeam Excaliblasts]] are weaker versions of the normal ability.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Assassin]]
!!Assassin (Hassan-i-Sabbah)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/assassinkaleid.jpg]]

The fourth Card fought by Illya's group. The Assassin Card is split up between many different individual Assassins, but each share the same skull-shaped mask and general appearance. Individually, each Assassin is relatively weak, enough so that Luvia and Rin can injure them. However, they fight by employing poisoned weapons and overwhelming odds against Illya's group. \
\
Assassin Class Card grants the user any of the 19 Hassan-i-Sabbah candidates of the Hashashin guild and their signature skill, Zabaniya.\
\
In Miyu's world, the Assassin Class Card was used by Shinji Matou, corresponding to the Cursed Arm Hassan.
----
* AllYourPowersCombined: According to WordOfGod, the Assassin Card corresponds to all Hassan-i-Sabbah, granting a single power-set per user. Its manifested form is Hundred-Faced Hassan. [[spoiler:Illya's install also gets Hundred-Faced Hassan, Shinji gets Cursed Arm Hassan, and Miyu gets [[Anime/FatePrototype Hassan of Serenity]].]] This means if the user is lucky, they can Install the first and last Hassan, [[InSeriesNickname the Angel of Death]] himself.
* CompositeCharacter: A combination between [[Literature/FateZero Zero Assassin]] and [[spoiler:[[VisualNovel/FateStayNight True Assassin]]]].
* MythologyGag: Miyu's version of Assassin Install is Hassan of Serenity from Fate/Prototype Fragments.
* PoisonousPerson: Naturally, Serenity is this.
* PoisonedWeapons: His darts. Miyu's Install also comes with Serenity's poisonous body.
* ShoutOut: These Assassins' masks look like the bone masks from ''{{Manga/Bleach}}''.
* SelfDuplication: He can create duplicates of himself through his Noble Phantasm. [[spoiler:Illya gains the same ability when she installs the Assassin Card.]]
%%* StealthExpert:
* WeakButSkilled: [[spoiler:Chloe states the card is so weak that Illya's basic Kaleid Trance, even post-DePower, is still stronger than Assassin Install. But even so, its stealth abilities come in handy.]]

The manifestation of the Berserker Card and the last Card fought. His Noble Phantasm allows him to resurrect a set number of times, granting him immunity to what killed him in the process.\
\
Beside that, Berserker Class Card has an ability called "Succession" that grants "Berserker-like" property and power to each Class Card installed after Berserker, empowering them. Berserker Class Card also comes with one-time resurrection, but after that the Card is automatically ejected from the user.\
\
In Miyu's world, the Berserker card was used by Beatrice Flowerchild.
----
* TheBerserker: Duh, he is the Berserker card after all. He can even give berserker traits to others.
* {{BFS}}: The Axe-Sword (referred to as "Fake Nine Lives," Nine Lives being [[SpamAttack the technique]] associated with it in VisualNovel/FateStayNight), a massive slab of stone [[AllThereInTheManual carved out of the base of his temple]]. While he [[OneHandedZweihander swings it around effortlessly]] with his SuperStrength, it's [[AwesomeButImpractical far too heavy and unwieldy]] for Illya to even pick up.
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: [[spoiler:Installing his Class Card will put the user under the effects of Mad Enhancement, increasing all types of combat proficiency in exchange for gradually eating away at the user's mind. Angelica implants a Mystic Code into the card that auto-ejects it after 10 minutes so Illya can use the card safely.]]
* DiscOneFinalBoss: The strongest and final opponent the protagonists fight in the first season.
* FusionDance: [[spoiler:In an interesting way. As Angelica and Rin note, the Berserker Card can be mixed with other Class Cards to create a different version of a Heroic Spirit, with the initial card as the base and the second card giving the Heroic Spirit form. Illya uses this loophole to fuse Herc with Rider Card, resulting [[Characters/FateGrandOrderAvengers the Gorgon form]].]]
* LightningBruiser: He's one of the strongest Heroic Spirits summonable, as well as one of the fastest. Although he's insane, he's still extremely dangerous. Beatrice, the card's former user even says in terms of physical power Heracles is the strongest, even stronger than Thor.
* ResurrectiveImmortality: His Noble Phantasm provides him a stock of lives that allows him to resurrect himself every time he dies, [[ItOnlyWorksOnce gaining immunity to what killed him in the process]]. His Install grants God Hand for a single death, but ejects the Card afterward.
* TransformationIsAFreeAction: Defies it. He charges straight at Miyu while she channels the Saber Card.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: The only original Class Card that hasn't been used as an [[PowersAsPrograms Install]] by the main characters, or anyone; even the showcase of [[spoiler:Miyu's brother [[RunTheGauntlet defeating the original Class Card users]] doesn't show the user of Berserker (though supplementary material reveals it was Beatrice)]]. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]], since there's no telling how the Berserker Class's [[PowerBornOfMadness Mad Enhancement]] would affect the user, and Berserker's [[NoSell incredibly]] [[TheJuggernaut powerful]] [[ResurrectiveImmortality abilities]] would [[StoryBreakerPower remove almost any challenge in a fight]]. It's finally used by Illya after Angelica gives the card an auto-eject function so she won't lose her mind from it, and the result is glorious.

A bowman clad in red who's defeated by Bazett before the story begins. He only makes appearances in a flashback in ''2wei'' and in a short exposition in ''3rei''. This card grants an ability to use Projection Magic and [[MentalWorld a field of blades]].

Sakura from Miyu's world had originally sought to bring the Archer Card to Shirou so he could help her sister, but was unaware that Julian tricked her with a "fake" card unconnected to any Heroic Spirit (since the Archer of the war, Gilgamesh, was already taken). Despite this, a Heroic Spirit answered Shirou's plea through the card anyway, an alternate version of himself from another world where he became an Ally of Justice.
----
* AlternateSelf: He's one to [[spoiler:Miyu's version of Shirou Emiya]], as he explains in his exposition.
-->"'''Heroic Spirit EMIYA'''. From the distant future of a different world was another me who became a Heroic Spirit. Forming a pact with the earth and becoming a guardian of humanity, he followed through with the justice that [[spoiler:Kiritsugu]] and I idealized."
* BowAndSwordInAccord: He uses his bow against Bazett before engaging her in melee combat.
* DualWielding: Wields two curved blades, Kanshou and Bakuya.
* IHatePastMe: [[spoiler:Averted. He is the only Heroic Spirit that responded to Shirou's request for help. Similar to the Heaven's Feel route in ''stay night'', Archer supports Shirou with his powers, as Shirou gives up his ideals and only intends to save the people he truly cares about, which in his world is Miyu.]]
* ImprobableAimingSkills: He can fire his bow with near perfect accuracy... while falling.
* FutureBadass: It's revealed fairly late in ''3rei'' that his identity belongs to that of [[spoiler:Heroic Spirit EMIYA, a parallel version of Shirou Emiya who contracted with the world and became a Counter Guardian.]]
* MythologyGag:
** His manifested form looks a lot like [[spoiler:[[VisualNovel/FateHollowAtaraxia Avenger]].]]
** [[spoiler:Shirou's Archer Install combines the aspect of EMIYA, Avenger, and the Craft Essence Limit / Zero Over from Fate/Grand Order.]]
* NonindicativeName: His class card is Archer, but he has the power to manifest swords out of thin air.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: He and his Card have very few appearances in the story. However, by responding to [[spoiler:Shirou's]] summoning, he allows him to fight back and, ultimately, set the story in motion.
* SpannerInTheWorks: [[spoiler:His card was supposed to be a 'junk' card with the pretense that the card was supposed to be Gilgamesh, that was given to Sakura, who tried to use it to fight Shinji. Miyu's version of Shirou got a hold of it, and asked for help from the Throne of Heroes out of desperation. EMIYA [[PetTheDog answered the call]] [[IHatePastMe despite having a rather infamous loathing of his past selves.]] By doing so, he allows Shirou to derail Julian's plans.]]
* SpontaneousWeaponCreation: He can create swords out of thin air.
* StormOfBlades: One of his attacks involves creating several swords and firing them at his target.
* TrickArrow: As shown with [[spoiler:Chloe]] and [[spoiler:Bazett's flashback]], the arrows that Archer fire explode.

This card grants the Noble Phantasm Gae Bolg.
----
* AlwaysAccurateAttack: Gae Bolg will always target someone's heart without fail.
* ChekhovsGun: The cards Noble Phantasm is what Miyu used to finish off the Rider and Caster cards. They would have been far more difficult otherwise.
* DramaPreservingHandicap: After the Saber card appears and Illiya suggests using Lancers Noble Phantasm against it, Miyu notes that the card needs to recharge before she can use it again.
* OneHitKill: Gae Bolg can instant kill enemy by reversing cause and effect.
* MythologyGag: He resembles his ''Anime/FatePrototype'' self, with a fur collar to emphasize being more of a hunter than a combatant. Also literally as [[spoiler:his powerset includes becoming a werewolf, since he is the "dog of Culann" This also brings to mind Warp Spasm]]
* TronLines: His bodysuit is covered in them, bringing to mind his ''VideoGame/FateExtra'' self

The King of Heroes... not quite as you may remember him from previous Fate installments unless you've read ''VisualNovel/FateHollowAtaraxia''. He initially shows up as yet another corrupted Servant seeking the Holy Grail, but unlike the rest some of his ego remains intact... which Illya inadvertently separates from his corrupted self, half-incarnating him in a younger form. He becomes one of Illya's main allies in ''3rei'', seemingly out of annoyance for the Ainsworth's stealing most of his treasury.\
\
Gilgamesh's card grants the user the Gate of Babylon, a HyperspaceArsenal containing prototype Noble Phantasms from all around the world, the Chain of Heaven that can bind divine enemies, and the Sword of Separation, Ea. But you must contain the King of Heroes' ego, lest the Card controls you instead.\
\
His Class Card is Archer, and possessed by Angelica Ainsworth.
----
* AdaptationalWimp: Zigzagged. As a consequence of being bound to a Class Card, he is less powerful than normal -- not that this is saying much since circumstances conspire to [[OneWingedAngel re-empower him anyway]], but even the monstrous form he takes is beatable. It's played straighter when he is separated from his Class Card post-incarnation, depriving him of most of his treasures until he retrieves it.
* AllYourPowersCombined: As always, he brings Gate of Babylon with him. And with it, every Noble Phantasm that originated on earth.
* BadassAdorable: He's still incredibly powerful even after being reduced to a cute kid, going toe-to-toe with numerous Ainsworth servants and being noticeably less arrogant.
* BerserkButton: Like ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'', use his Noble Phantasms against him and he will let you know how angry he is. ''Especially'' Enkidu; he was at least slightly amused at Angelica using his own techniques against him, but once Enkidu hit the field, he made it very clear she was going to ''suffer''.
* {{BFS}}: He holds a ''massive'' sword in his vault. Illya manages to break it and it remains broken after its second appearance. Naturally, as he owns every weapon ever comprehended by man and then some, he has a figuratively infinite number of giant swords.
* BroughtDownToBadass: He has several instances of DePower in effect in this series: he's the equivalent of a Blackened Servant, he becomes half-incarnated into younger form, and after the final battle of ''2wei'' he's lost most of his treasury. It all does little to detract from the fact that ''he's goddamn Gilgamesh'' and spends the majority of his fight scenes stomping the enemy instead of getting stomped himself.
* ChainPain: Is even more proficient with Enkidu than his mainstream counterpart, trapping Angelica in a sphere made from chains before attempting to skewer her. When she breaks out of that he then wraps Enkidu around the dozens of weapons she summons before throwing them back at her.
* ChangedMyMindKid: Not intentionally though. [[spoiler:Tanaka goads Gilgamesh into saving Illya after Miyu's world is wiped out, wanting him to see what this unfortunate little girl would do at the end of the world. Gilgamesh grants Illya one wish to that end, whatever she wants -- and she simply asks him to help her fix this mess. Tanaka wanted to show Gilgamesh that [[PluckyGirl even faced with the world's end, Illya hasn't given up]], and with his "wish" he's effectively shot his own neutrality and joined her side in earnest. [[{{Touche}} He admits it was well played.]]]]
* ClippedWingAngel: As terrifying as it is, the black monster form is still a Class Card Servant, which means all of its Parameters are a grade or two lower than normal. Because of this, even with Gilgamesh's rational side controlling it, Illya managed to overpower his ultimate Noble Phantasm.
* CurbStompBattle: His very first appearance, to ''everyone'',is such a thorugh crushing victory, that they all rule out trying to fight him again. Only Bazett manages to be a [[CurbStompCushion cushion]].
* DemonicPossession: Gilgamesh explains due to his ego, if someone doesn't use his card correctly when installing it, the card can take that person over. [[spoiler:This nearly happened to Miyu.]]
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: In chapter 66 of ''3rei'', Gil starts arguing with Ruby about time travel. Mind you, Ruby is a Mystic Code created by ''[[TimeMaster the Wizard Marshal of the Kaleidoscope]]'', meaning that if there is one person who understands how time travel works in Nasuverse, ''she would be it''.
* DramaPreservingHandicap: Becoming an ally of the team entails being separated from his corrupted card, which causes him to lose most of his treasures to Angelica.
* EarthShatteringKaboom: Ea, the only known Anti-World Noble Phantasm [[spoiler:with which he blows up the Mirror World]]. Keep in mind that it's world as in the concept and not specifically a planet buster.
* EasilyForgiven: Thanks to his A+ Charisma, he convinces Illya to forgive him for trying to kill her and everyone she cares about.
* EmpathicWeapon: His ego is so strong that his card takes over the mind of the user if they aren't using it correctly.
* EvilLaugh: Seemingly the one remnant of his personality.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: His eyes become sharper and he slicks his hair upward in a manner reminiscent of his original ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'' counterpart when he starts getting serious.
* EyeTake: Gets one in ''Drei'' Chapter 27, complete with StunnedSilence, after Illya [[spoiler:assumes her SuperMode and ''breaks [[{{BFS}} Ig-Alima]] in half'']]. It's about [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness the only time he ever loses his composure]].
* FatalFlaw:
** Averted. Due to his madness, he is finally able to overlook his pride and thus, [[OhCrap goes all-out.]] Illya's saving grace is that said madness makes him weaker than usual.
** Also averted by his younger self. He uses the entirety of his armory rather than just spamming the usual StormOfBlades.
* Fiction500: Like his mainstream counterpart, little Gil has a virtually endless supply of wealth, paying for Illya's and Tanaka's meal by tossing a gold bar on the table as if it were pocket change.
--> '''Gilgamesh:''' ''[pulls out another bar of gold]'' I'm really enjoying modern life. It helps that the value of gold doesn't seem to have changed much in this day and age!
* HealingFactor: Unlike his other incarnations, this one is perfectly willing to use counters to people who manage to charge through his attacks and hit him.
* HeelFaceTurn: After his black half is destroyed, his younger self decides to join Illya out of boredom.
* HypocriticalHumor:
** ''Dares'' complain when Illya reminds him that he lost to her, because the winner shouldn't rub their victory in the loser's face. See every single one of his other appearances.
** He tells Angelica to be less cocky when using his card.
* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: While significantly less egotistic than the F/SN version, he hints a few times how he feels that he's a shadow of his former self that doesn't measure up to his legend.
* {{Irony}}: He [[spoiler:kills Illya in ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'' by ripping out her heart]]; here, Bazett does this to him instead, although the latter doesn't stick.
* IronicNickname: "The Eighth Card" becomes this in hindsight once the origin of the Class Cards is revealed. [[spoiler:Archer Gilgamesh was one of the original seven cards used in the Ainzworth Holy Grail War, and the 'junk Archer card' Julius created was the extra. It'd be more accurate to call EMIYA the Eighth Card.]]
* ItAmusedMe: Joins Illya in her quest to save Miyu because he's bored and taking on the creators of the Holy Grail War sounds "fun". [[spoiler:Then tells Julian he needs Illya to grant his wish because he wants to see how things play out. And then after Darius destroys the entire world, he saves Illya and further agrees to grant her whatever single wish she desires because he's interested to see how she'll react to a DespairEventHorizon.]]
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: Immediately high-tails it when once Angelica begins installing five Class Cards ''on top'' of his own, knowing that even he can't take that much firepower on with only a fraction of his treasury.
* LiteralSplitPersonality: Due to Gilgamesh's ego persisting, the [[FountainOfYouth "man"]] himself and the Class Card Servant become different entities after Illya unwittingly separates the two. Part of his reasons for joining Illya in ''3rei!!'' is to correct this.
* MisterExposition: Once Gil reappears in ''3rei'', he tends to be the only ally with an inkling of what's going on in the Ainzworth's world, so he tends to be the one everyone asks for information. Much to his chagrin, because he's not as knowledgeable as he'd like -- he eventually has to point out that his knowledge only goes back as far as when he was first bound to his Class Card, leaving the Ainsworth's ultimate goals a mystery even to him.
* MythologyGag: Gil's child form first appeared in ''VisualNovel/FateHollowAtaraxia'' after he drank a potion of youth to escape boredom.
* NakedFirstImpression: After Illya frees him from his dark incarnation, he's completely naked and teases her over her embarrassed reaction.
* NormalFishInATinyPond: He is the closest thing to a proper Servant to appear in the story. Even though his abilities are weakened from being incarnated in his younger form and having his treasury split in two, he's skilled enough that he can easily subdue Class Card users on his own, he manages to piece together the main antagonist's plan long before anyone else does, and [[spoiler:he ends up being one of the few people to survive the end of the world]]. In a series where the protagonists have to struggle to beat mindless Shadow Servants, just being a Shadow Servant ''who can think'' puts him above most of the cast.
* NotInThisForYourRevolution: He might be [[TookALevelInKindness much friendlier]] than his {{Jerkass}} adult self, but he's still [[ItsAllAboutMe Gilgamesh]]. He couldn't care less about saving the [[GaiasLament dying planet]] or [[SaveThePrincess Miyu]]; he's here to take back his Card.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Acts like the [[CheerfulChild cute, happy-go-lucky kid]] he appears to be. Makes it easy to forget he is still the ancient God-King of Babylon, one-time possessor of all of mankind's treasures and knowledge. He spends most of ''3rei'' lounging around, using his [[Fiction500 resources]] and [[MrExposition knowledge of events in the alternate world]] to [[TheChessmaster steer the heroes in the right direction]].
* OneWingedAngel: His black half transforms into a massive, black monster after tapping into the power of the mana circuit. He then assumes control of it to fight Illya. This is the climatic fight of ''2wei''
* OptOut: Once he got his card back, he decided to see where things were going from the sidelines.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: To a whole new level from usual. Gilgamesh's Class Card had the misfortune of landing right inside Fuyuki's magical ley line, which he uses to ''break out'' of the Mirror World and then lay claim to the Great Cavern's mana circuit to gain ''even more'' power. The monster that results could've wiped Fuyuki City off the map if it had been allowed to rampage.
* PowerLimiter: His full strength hasn't been used since he was separated from his card.
* PowerOfTheVoid: The incarnation of his corrupt form is covered in black prana and emits a smoky black-and-red haze, making it similar to Angra Mainyu. It even produces a cursed muck that Gilgamesh warns will probably kill those exposed.
* PutOnABus: [[spoiler:Leaves the group after he steals back his card, expressing amusement at how Julian is going to use his wish to save the world.]]
** TheBusCameBack: [[spoiler:He saves Illya after the world ends and rejoins her alongside Tanaka.]]
* ShamelessFanserviceGuy: He doesn't care about being seen naked, because his body is physically perfect so he has no reason to want to hide it.
* StormOfBlades: Gate of Babylon, as usual.
* ThisIsUnforgivable: [[spoiler:He doesn't take it well when Enkidu is used against him.]]
--> '''Gilgamesh:''' [[spoiler:So, it turns out that I laugh when I'm angry. Don't go using my ''friend'' as you please, MONGREL!]]
* TooKinkyToTorture: When Illya lands with her hand on his crotch and gives it a few squeezes, not realizing what she's holding, he finds it amusing.
* TooAwesomeToUse: He possesses a Noble Phantasm called Sha Naqba Imuru that gives him highly potent clairvoyance abilities. The thing is, he finds the idea of knowing everything to the world's end to be ''boring'', so he suppresses the Noble Phantasm the best he can, even if it still ends up leaking info to him.
-->'''Gilgamesh:''' There is truly nothing more boring than the Light. That's precisely why... [[ScrewDestiny I long for the darkness(unexpected)]].
* TookALevelInKindness: Almost literally, after his black half is destroyed.
* TooSpicyForYogSothoth: Unlike the other Heroic Spirits dragged through [[spoiler:the mud of Pandora's Box]], Gilgamesh's ego was too strong to fully suppress. The only reason his Blackened version even exists is because of the massive amount of mana it accumulated by landing in the ley line, and this doesn't stop Gil post-incarnation from taking control of it.
* TranquilFury: Don’t let the fact that he’s [[GrinOfRage smiling]] during his battle with Angelica confuse you. He’s PISSED at her daring to use [[BerserkButton his friend Enkidu]] against him.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: His [[LimitBreak Enuma Elish]] used on Illya makes a rift in reality, which unfortunately lead to [[spoiler:Miyu's original world -- and, by extension, the Ainsworth family who destroyed Miyu's life and tried to turn her into the Holy Grail. They waste no time recapturing her]]. This sets up the events of ''3rei''.
* VillainRespect: He considers Darius' plan and end goal to be worthy of his praise, and considers Darius' sheer arrogance about it to rival the gods.
* WalkingSpoiler: Not only does he show up very late into ''2wei'' as the final opponent, but he also becomes a protagonist in ''3rei'', accompanying Illya in her quest to save Miyu from the Ainsworths.
* WaveMotionSword: In addition to Ea, the one that appears most is Sul-Sagana, a massive sword almost as large as Ig-Alima.
* WhatTheHellHero: Subverted. It ''looks'' like he's calling Illya out on her carelessness and willingness to lead people into a suicidal quest... but it turns out he's listing the reasons why it sounds fun.
* WildCard: [[TheFace Sweet talks his way]] onto Illya's team to [[ItsPersonal take back his Card]] from the Ainsworths. Though [[LiteralSplitPersonality his other half]] in the Card would have slaughtered them all for such a grievous offense, once he retrieves his Card he instead [[PlayingBothSides advises Julian]] that he'll need Illya to grant his wish before [[OptOut vanishing]] to [[ItAmusedMe watch how the story plays out]].
* WorthyOpponent: Decides that Illya is worthy of facing Enuma Elish when she combines the two wands and risks her own death for her friends.

[[folder:The Second Berserker]]
!!Berserker ("Thor")

The Nordic God of Thunder, equipped with the mighty hammer Mjölnir and the gauntlet Járngreipr. It is in Beatrice Ainsworth's possession.
----
* OriginalGeneration: Unlike every other Class Card so far, Thor ([[spoiler:and Magni by extension]]) is not sampled from other ''Fate'' entries. ''PRISMA☆ILLYA'' marks the first time Thor's mythos has been used in the series.
* ShockAndAwe: Well, this is Thor. Mjölnir has an ability to summon thunderstorms, and empowered by thunder.
* SuperStrength: He naturally has the strength to lift Mjölnir all by himself due to [[spoiler:his Giant heritage]]. Averted in the case of the belt: The belt Megingjörð in legend both in-and-out of universe doubles the wearer's strength. However, it turns out the belt does nothing; it's just a old belt.
* MistakenIdentity: Due to being so similar to his father, [[spoiler:it is easy for others to assume that he is Thor and try to apply the weakness of being poisoned and retreating nine steps that felled his father.]]
* ResistantToMagic: Thor's massive right arm not only wields Mjölnir, but is covered in a magic-resistant armor. [[spoiler:Later DoubleServerted after the armor is destroyed and the Class Card is revealed to be Magni. The magic resistance is a property of Magni himself and the armor was ''lessening'' it; once the half-giant's arm is freed, the resistance becomes straight up AntiMagic.]]
* ScissorsCutsRock: The Berserker class is characterized by granting overpowering strength at the cost of everything else, leaving them especially vulnerable to magic cast from a distance, something Illya tries to capitalize on with Caster Install. Unfortunately, Thor is an exception that has incredible magic resistance. Caster Illya did not win that fight.
* SimpleSolutionWontWork: Rin and Illya get crafty to deal with Thor by invoking his conceptual weakness, replicating how he died in myth: poison and nine steps backwards. It fails because [[spoiler:it's not really Thor, but his son, Magni. Even worse is that Magni had no recorded death, not even from Ragnarok, so he has no conceptual weakness whatsoever; the only way to stop Magni is to beat him in a straight fight]].
* SuperiorSuccessor: [[spoiler:The Install's Heroic Spirit, Magni, compared to his father, Thor. Magni and his half-brother both inherited Thor's powers when they found Mjölnir after Ragnarok, but Magni had the strength to lift the hammer by himself because of his giant heritage; a feat that even Thor himself needed both the belt Megingjörð and the protective gauntlet Járngreipr to replicate. And Beatrice gets both of these along with Magni's innate strength[[note]]Though Megingjörð apparently never had any ability to double one's strength and is just a belt[[/note]]. On top of that, Magni also inherited Thor's Divine Core, which allows Beatrice to survive a lethal strike and then instantly come back to life because she has both Thor's and Magni's Divine Cores. Also unlike Thor who has a conceptual weakness to being poisoned then dying after taking nine paces backwards, Magni has no such thing; he survived Ragnarok and thus has no recorded death, and thus no conceptual weakness to exploit. And as if it weren't powerful enough already, Magni has incredible magic resistance that can even shut down Mystic Eyes, so the only way to fight it is to brawl with it head-on -- yes, fighting a ''Berserker'' head-on. Good luck Illya, you'll need it.]]
* TooAwesomeToUse: Mjölnir is an insanely powerful weapon. Massive in size and hits twice as hard, can be thrown as a projectile, and can shoot lightning and be charged with it to enhance attacks. Its first true name release was able to easily counter five A-ranked spells from the Age of Gods and its second stage was three times as powerful and possessed immense range. [[spoiler:Contained within it is Thor's Divine Core, which is a conceptual defense that allows its user to survive a lethal attack by making the Divine Core take the hit in their place. Its final stage, ''Mjölnir Ragnarök'', causes the surrounding area to be sent back to the Age of Gods and recreates Ragnarök itself. This renders all modern laws, be it magecraft, technology or even the ''laws of physics'' inoperable while it shoots out bursts of lightning wildly; the only magecraft that can be used are [[LogicalWeakness spells from the Age of Gods, such as Bazett's runes.]] What's the catch? Mjölnir takes your memories as compensation, resulting in them being slowly erased with each use and the activation of the final Noble Phantasm wipes out the memories of the wielder's ''entire lifetime'']] This gets subverted afterwards, [[spoiler:as the Rider Install returns the wielder's memories, even ones that shouldn't exist anymore due to reality changing.]]
* WhamLine: The revelation of his true identity is delivered via dialogue, just in time for the heroes to realize why their strategy to defeat it failed.
--> My divine core is tellin' me. Don't Retreat. Don't stop. Push forward... and other stuff like that. Retreating is unforgivable. Just... go forward. Go forward, GO FORWARD! [[spoiler:That's what my dad told me..!]]

!! Berserker (Lancelot du Lac)

One of the fabled Knights of the Round Table, also known as "The Knight of the Lake". This card is used by a Julian-controlled Sakura Matou after becoming a doll.
----
* TheBerserker: The third one to appear no less.
* DarkIsEvil: The install grants its users black armor, while also giving them the Mad Enhancement that every other Berserker comes with.
* MasterOfAll: Just like in ''Zero'', Knight of Owner allows Lancelot's user instant mastery of anything they perceive as a weapon, like a pole or a tank.
* PowerCopying: The signature ability of Lancelot, being able to steal and copy anything it perceives as a weapon.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: The armor that the card comes with is predominantly black, with shades of red throughout the head, arms, and legs. And considering its use in the series, this trope is definitely in play.

[[folder:The Second Rider (SPOILER)]]
!!Rider (Magni)

The half-god, half-giant son of Thor and the giant Járnsaxa. While originally a Berserker Class card, it metamorphized into a Rider Class Card brought about by the resolve of its owner Beatrice.

----
* CoolHorse: Magni's horse Gullfaxi: Golden Forerunner is capable of generating lightning from its body and running through the sky, and is strong enough to destroy all the giants surrounding Beatrice and Bazett in an instant.
* DiscardAndDraw: It used to be a Berserker card, but changed into Rider because of Beatrice’s resolve. While Beatrice can no longer use Mjölnir, she is now able to summon Gullfaxi, which she initially couldn’t do while under the Berserker Class.
* HeroicRROD: Perhaps unsurprisingly, a Heroic Spirit tampering with their own Class isn't good for their Spirit Origin. The Magni Card was set on a timer as soon as it changed from Berserker to Rider; once Beatrice uses up the rest of Gullfaxi's power, the Class Card shatters.
* LoopholeAbuse: Mjölnir's lightning in Magni's previous Berserker form consumed the user's memories. Gullfaxi, a horse made of that same lightning, can hold onto those memories. It's thanks to this happy coincidence that Beatrice retains her memories of Illya despite the RetGone, and uses it to help everyone else remember.
* ShockAndAwe: Even without Mjölnir, Mani has a connection to lightning due to Gullfaxi being a gift from Thor.
