[[folder:Tropes that apply to many movie villains]]
[[quoteright:350:[[VideoGame/DragonBallHeroes https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dbh_movie_villains.png]]]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Left to right: Garlic Jr., Cooler, Slug, Turles, Beerus, Broly, Bojack, and Super Android 13.]]
* AdaptedOut: When it comes to the video games, expect the minions to be excluded [[AdaptationDistillation with the exception of a single particular member]] (Salza and Zangya, mostly). It's not until ''VideoGame/DragonBallHeroes'' where they all get a chance to be playable characters.
* ArcVillain: Of their respective film.
* BroadStrokes: Some of the villains' movies actually do fit into the timeline, but they still have minor inconsistencies that prevent them from being perfect fits. Garlic Jr. appeared in a filler arc in the anime, which seemed to take the events of his movie this way, but Beerus and Whis are the first ones officially confirmed to be in continuity by Creator/AkiraToriyama, though there is a strong chance Abo and Kado are, too.
* ConservationOfNinjutsu: As per usual of ''Dragon Ball'', if the heroes gang up on the BigBad, chances are they'll lose. See, for example, everybody vs Turles. Otherwise, the QuirkyMinibossSquad will usually have their rear-ends handed to them by either Goku or Piccolo.
** Everyone vs Broly is a much straighter example.
** Strength in numbers worked for the QuirkyMinibossSquad; Sansho, Ginger, and Nicky were able to take down Piccolo by ganging up on him, but individually, they are easily bested. In the same movie, Piccolo and Goku ganging up on Garlic Jr. actually ''does'' work.
** It also usually works for the generic mooks; the Cyclopian Guards are able to overwhelm and defeat Gohan and Krillin (Piccolo trashes them, though) while Slug's troopers are able to incapacitate Gohan with ''a lot'' of BeamSpam.
** Also worked in Movie 6 when Goku and Vegeta were overwhelmed by countless Metal Cooler replicas; it took everything they had just to beat one.
** Hatchiyack is destroyed by Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Trunks, and Piccolo ganging up on him with their signature attacks.
* CurbStompBattle: Will do this to the heroes before being defeated at the last second.
** The 10th movie was something of an exception; everyone else got curb-stomped, but Gohan seemingly defeated Broly by tricking him into volcanic lava. Broly, however, survived.
*** The 14th movie follows this trope. Beerus effortlessly defeats [=SSJ3=] Goku and the entire Z cast. Only the Super Saiyan God form would be able to come near his level and even then Beerus is still stronger.
* DeusExMachina: How some of them are defeated.
** Broly is by far the most blatant example; he's defeated when all of the Z-Fighters give their energy to Goku, who then [[spoiler:(seemingly)]] kills Broly with one super-powered punch. You gotta wonder why they didn't just do that when the fight started. At least this one is somewhat more justified than the case with Meta Cooler, as Cooler could simply have regenerated from that same punch.
** Meta Cooler's defeat isn't much better; somehow, Goku and Vegeta were able to overload the Big Gete Star despite being beaten half to death, drained of most of their energy and neither one being as strong as even a single one of the warriors it created.
** Then there's Bio-Broly, who at the end is revealed to have a weakness to... water.
** After effortlessly pounding on the heroes for the whole movie, Hirudegarn is defeated at the last minute when Goku pulls out a previously unmentioned super-move (Super Dragon Fist) insanely beyond his normal capabilities. It's never explained where Goku got this move, and he only uses it twice more (in ''GT'') before never being seen again.
%%* TheDragon:
%%** Ginger to Garlic Jr.
%%** Kochin to Dr. Wheelo.
%%** Amond to Turles.
%%** Angira to Slug.
%%** Salza to Cooler in his first movie. The Big Gete Star in his second.
%%** Zangya to Bojack, though this example relates to the video games more than the film itself.
* FillerVillain: If one were to place the movies in the timeline, then the movie villains come off as this. Garlic Jr is the most notable in this regard, as he got his own mini-filler arc on the TV show.
* FlatCharacter: Some of them have really thin or non-existent reasons for attacking Earth. At most, they might want revenge or to TakeOverTheWorld, but a good chunk are just destroying things for its own sake.
* KickTheDog: Almost all of them indulged in this to emphasize their villainy, killing either weak bystanders or (more often) their own henchmen.
** Dr. Wheelo accidentally kills his own apprentice, Dr. Kochin, before battling the heroes (though he is far from broken up about it, and might not have even noticed).
** Turles mostly subverts this, being one of the few movie Big Bads who never executes or punishes any of his henchmen. His worst act is beating up on Gohan for refusing to join them and then forcing him to transform into a Great Ape.
** Lord Slug kills two of his own minions in his ship before they even attack Earth.
** Much like Turles above, Cooler is a surprisingly BenevolentBoss to his henchmen, at least relative to DBZ villains. His worst act is either blasting Piccolo from behind with a near-fatal Death Beam or trying to [[PlanetDestroyer destroy Earth]] in what amounts to a SuicidalCosmicTemperTantrum after being completely dominated by Super Saiyan Goku.
** Meta Cooler beats up on Goku and Vegeta mercilessly, but that's just par for the course. His ''real'' dog kicking is done by proxy, in which his minions round up all the Z-Fighters and allies unable to defend themselves to be consumed and harvested by the Big Gete Star.
** Androids 14 and 15 are shown to think nothing of human collateral damage before they even attack Goku.
** Paragus was only shown to kill one person, and that's a soldier named Moah. He killed him due to the poor mook now being aware of Comet Camori being used to kill everyone and hopefully Vegeta while on the planet.
** Broly effortlessly destroys Planet Shamo, the home planet of the people his father has turned into a SlaveRace, just to laugh at them and gloat that their world is now gone just like his.
** Bojack as a last resort blasts poor Zangya, who obviously knew she couldn't handle Super Saiyan 2 Gohan. It was partly to try and catch Gohan off-guard and partly YouHaveFailedMe (In the dub he insults her right before the act). Regardless, this ultimately fails.
** Upon his return in the tenth movie, the very first thing Broly does is release a volley of blasts around a populated mountainous area. Then he [[WouldHitAGirl attacks Videl]] for yelling at him, just in case anyone was wondering if he was still an AxCrazy maniac.
* {{Mooks}}: Wheelo's Bio-Men, Slug's troopers, and Metal Cooler's Cyclopian Guards. They all basically exist to give the {{jobber}}s like Krillin and Gohan (pre-movie 8) something to kill. Also, coincidentally, all three groups of mooks are about to kill Gohan until they are dispatched by [[BigDamnHeroes Piccolo]]. The fact that they actually manage to defeat some of the heroes before being trashed (with the Cyclopian Guards actually defeating and capturing Gohan, Krillin, Roshi, Oolong, and Yajirobe) at least makes them more competent than some other mooks.
* PunnyName: Some, like Turles and Cooler, continue the naming from other members of their species in the main series. The henchmen also usually have a theme to their names -- the Makyans being named after spices, for example.
* QuirkyMinibossSquad: In the earlier movies, the villain will usually have a three to five-man Quirky Miniboss Squad.
** Garlic Jr. has Sansho, Ginger, and Nicky.
** Dr. Wheelo has his Bio-Warrior trio, composed of Kishime, Ebifurya, and Misokatsun. They're less quirky and more intimidating than most examples on this list, however, breaking from the usual ''DBZ'' movie henchmen mold.
** Turles has his Crusher Corps, composed of Amond, Cacao, Daiz, Rezun, and Rakasei.
** Lord Slug has his Demon Clan trio, composed of Wings, Angila, and Medamatcha.
** Cooler has his Armored Squad, composed of Salza, Doore, and Neiz.
** Android 13 has his subordinate units Androids 14 and 15 (whose parts he absorbs to become Super 13).
** Bojack has his Galaxy Soldiers, composed of Kogu, Zangya, Bido, and Bujin.
* RecycledScript: Plenty of them are blatant copies of recent series villains or arcs. There was also a pretty firm formula of "villains shows up, thrash some characters, protagonists deal with the QuirkyMinibossSquad, villain takes down the supporting characters, Goku gets the upper hand, villain gets the upper hand, Goku (Or Gohan) pulls out an attack that finally kills the villain."
* {{Revenge}}: A ''lot'' of the motivation for DBZ villains are plain old revenge, whether it's due to events that happened years prior to the movie, like with Kami banishing Garlic Jr.s' Father, or to avenge their previous defeat, like Cooler, largely depends on the medium they appear in.
* SortingAlgorithmOfEvil: The films have a pretty consistent hierarchy of {{mooks}} < low-level heroes < [[QuirkyMinibossSquad individual minibosses]] < mid-level heroes =< all minibosses < main villain's base form =< high-level heroes < main villain's super form < heroes' final power-up. Examples include:
** ''Dead Zone'': Krillin < individual Garlic henchmen < Kami < two Garlic henchman < Goku or Piccolo =< base Garlic Jr < Super Garlic Jr. < Goku and Piccolo teamed up.
** ''World's Strongest'': Biomen < Roshi/Krillin < Bio-Warriors < Piccolo < Goku < Wheelo < Goku's Kaio-ken and Spirit Bomb.
** ''Tree of Might'': Krillin/Yamcha/Chiaotzu/Tien Shinhan < Crusher Corps < Piccolo < base Turles < Goku < fruit-enhanced Turles < Goku's Spirit Bomb.
** ''Lord Slug''': basic demon troops < Gohan/Krillin < individual miniboss henchmen < Piccolo < multiple miniboss henchmen < Goku < base Slug < "Super Saiyan" Goku < giant Slug < Goku's Spirit Bomb.
** ''Cooler's Revenge'': Gohan/Krillin < Armored Squadron < Piccolo < base Cooler = base Goku < Super Cooler < Super Saiyan Goku < Super Cooler's Supernova =< Super Saiyan Goku's Kamehameha.
** ''Return of Cooler'': basic robots < Gohan/Krillin < Piccolo < base Metal Cooler =< Goku and Vegeta < powered-up Metal Cooler < Goku and Vegeta's combined attack.
** ''Super Android 13'': Gohan/Krillin < Androids 13, 14, and 15 < Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks < Piccolo < Super Android 13 < [[OverusedRunningGag Goku's Spirit Bomb]].
** ''Bojack Unbound'': Krillin/Yamcha/Tenshinhan < individual Galaxy Warriors < Vegeta, Trunks, or Piccolo < all Galaxy Warriors < base Bojack = Gohan < Super Bojack < Super Saiyan 2 Gohan.
** ''Bio-Broly'': Bio-Warriors < No. 18 < Bio-Broly < Goten and Trunks < powered-up Bio-Broly < [[WeaksauceWeakness water]].
** ''Fusion Reborn'': escaped Hell villains < Gohan, Goten, and Trunks < fat Janemba < Goku < Super Janemba < Gogeta.
* SuperMode: Wheelo and Chilled being the only exceptions. Unless you count Bio-Broly and Metal Cooler as different villains from the normal Broly and Cooler.
** Garlic Jr can become Super Garlic Jr, which makes him much taller and more muscular, and gives him power superior to either Goku or Piccolo. Until they take off their weighted clothing that is.
** Turles can eat fruit from the Tree of Might to make himself dozens of times stronger; his muscles noticeably bulge out in this mode. He can also potentially use the Great Ape transformations like all Saiyans with tails.
** Slug can turn into a giant, just like Piccolo.
** Cooler can transform into a ''fifth'' form that Frieza didn't have, making him several times stronger than his little brother. Later material gives him his own Golden form.
** Androids 13, 14, and 15 can "fuse" to become Super Android 13, a brute with power on par with Android 16. This form doesn't resemble any of the androids at all, being huge, muscular, and blue, with red, spiky, Saiyan-esque hair.
** Broly has the classic Super Saiyan transformation, and also his own unique Legendary Super Saiyan mode.
** Bojack's light orange hair becomes red, his blue-green skin becomes light green and his shirt comes off for some reason... Kogu can do it too.
** Janemba can transform into Super Janemba, going from a giant fat marshmallow man to a smaller (but still quite tall), thinner, red-skinned, much more powerful devil-like creature.
** Hirudegarn can transform from [[http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090807072034/dragonball/images/3/37/DragonballZ-Movie13-WrathoftheDrago.jpg this]] to [[http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/12/123339/2595377-hirudegarn2.jpeg this.]]
** Abo and Kado can fuse to make Aka.
* TheWorfEffect:
** The henchmen will usually get a decent showing before Piccolo, Goku or even Gohan come to crush them. Especially apparent with the Turles Crusher Corps and Cooler's Armored Squadron. The latter easily take down Krillin and Gohan and the former take down all of the Z-Fighters bar Piccolo, Gohan, and Goku. Piccolo (for the latter) and Goku (for the former) take them down in minutes.
** Some big bads also suffer this trope, as Bojack, Cooler, and Aka.
** {{Inverted|Trope}} in the 14th movie. [=SSJ3=] Goku gets worfed early on in the movie to show just how powerful Beerus is.

Nicky, Ginger & Sansho are Garlic Jr.'s right-hand men in the film Dead Zone. Nicky is a green human-like Makyan. He has white hair and wears a white cloak. Ginger is a goblin-like Makyan wearing red armor. Sansho is a bulky, black lobster-like Makyan. The evil warriors kidnapped Gohan and brought the Half-Saiyan boy back to Garlic Jr.'s fortress in the sky. Goku came and beat up the three Makyan warriors, despite powering up to their limit. Later, Piccolo and Krillin arrived. Piccolo beat up Sansho and blasted him in half with a Ki Blast. Nicky and Ginger attacked Goku again, but they were both killed by a Kamehameha. The three beasts are later seen escaping from Hell in the film ''Fusion Reborn''.
----
* AlienBlood: Nicky's blood is colored blue, shown when he pulls out a sword from his leg.
* AnimeHair: Nicky's white hair sticks up but otherwise doesn't resemble any conventional style.
* BadlyBatteredBabysitter: Nicky was in charge of watching Gohan while the young Saiyan was being kept prisoner. It... didn't end up well for him.
%%* BaldOfEvil: Ginger and Sansho, though the latter has long sideburns to compensate.
* BattleCry: Each of them has a unique battle cry that changes them into their bulkier forms.
* BigGuyFatalitySyndrome: Sansho is the largest and most muscular, so naturally he is the first to die.
* BigGuyLittleGuy: Sansho and Nicky are the big guys while Ginger is the little guy and serves as Garlic's [[TheDragon dragon]].
* TheBrute: Sansho doesn't appear to have any HiddenWeapons like his fellow servants, so he mainly sticks to his fists. It does little to aid him when he's forced to battle Piccolo mono e mono.
* ButtMonkey: Nicky is assigned to keep an eye on Gohan while the other two collect the remaining dragon balls. He gets pounced by the boy while stopping for a bite [[FromBadToWorse and then]] has to deal with the antics of a four-year-old drunk after the boy eats an apple not meant for kids. His death also has this effect when he gets knocked into a tower and gets vaporized alongside Ginger just as he starts to come to.
* ByThePowerOfGraySkull: "Shogoyaki (Grilled Pork)!" for Ginger, "Nodoame (Rice Jelly)!" for Nicky, and "Unaju (Eel Rice)!" for Sansho. The Ocean Group dub renders them as "Gingerbread!", "Tutti-frutti!", and "Pepperoni!" respectfully. In Funimation's dub, they kept "Gingerbread" and "Tutti-frutti" but changed Sansho's phrase to "Cheese!".
* TheCameo: All three of them appear in ''Fusion Reborn'' as a part of Frieza's army. Ginger is shown rising with Burter, Sansho appears flying with Salza towards Gohan, and Nicky can be spotted running away with the other villains after Frieza has been killed.
* CombinedEnergyAttack: Nicky, Ginger & Sansho can fire Energy Waves at the opponent. Used against Piccolo, which hit him, and later against Goku, (Minus Ginger, he was knocked out by Goku) but it was deflected by Krillin.
* TheComicallySerious: Ginger is the most straightlaced but is just as dumbfounded by Gohan's wimpiness as his colleagues are and snickers with them.
* CreepyHighPitchedVoice: Nicky when he decides to get threatening lets out terrible screeches.
* DeadHandShot: After he and Nicky are killed by Goku's Kamehameha, we see Ginger's twitching hand sticking up from the rubble before falling limp.
* DualWielding: Ginger can summon two katanas for himself by pulling them. Out of his skin. Nicky only has one.
* DumbMuscle: Sansho is the only one to repeat Goku's "Return my Gohan!" line a second time thinking that it came from his fellow Makyans.
* EdibleThemeNaming: Garlic Jr. and his minions are all named after spices/condiments.
* EliteMooks: They rank above the average Makyans and presumably the later Spice Boys as well since they appear first.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: PlayedForLaughs. They are certainly undyingly loyal to Garlic Jr., but early in the movie, they appear quite fearful of his [[EvilLaugh psychotic laughter]] after he voices his plans to plunge the Earth into darkness and hatred.
* EvilSoundsDeep: Sansho has the lowest octaves of the three.
* EvilSoundsRaspy: Ginger and Sansho in all versions. Nicky as well in the Funimation dub.
* {{Facepalm}}: Nicky once he sees Gohan succumb to the alcohol-ridden fruit he ate.
* FangsAreEvil: All of them have pointed teeth like their master.
%%* ForeheadOfDoom: Nicky has a tall one.
* GenderBlenderName: Ginger, Nicky (or Nikki), and Sansho are primarily female names, not ones you'd associate with quirky and evil demons like these guys.
* GratuitousEnglish: Nicky when Gohan gets drunk from an ''apple'' (in the Japanese language):
-->[[ThisIsGonnaSuck "Aw, geez!"]]
* GreenAndMean: Ginger has olive-colored skin and is evil.
* HiddenWeapons: Ginger keeps dual-wielding scimitars in his forearms while Nicky keeps his own weapon inside his right leg...[[NauseaFuel which he has to tear out of it.]]
* HotBloodedSideburns: Sansho has the flowing type colored red-purple. Otherwise, he is bald.
* InTheHood: Ginger makes his formal debut in front of Chi-Chi with his hood up, adding to his unsettling aura, after attacking the Ox-King.
* LightIsNotGood: Nicky wears white primarily and is evil.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Nicky's name, a pun on cinnamon, may also reference Satan's nickname "Little Nicky".
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: All they had to do was take the four-star ball off of Gohan's hat and leave him. Instead, they kidnap him too and get the attention of his angry dad, which lets him catch on to Garlic Jr.'s plan. Doubly so after Garlic opens the Dead Zone and sets off Gohan which causes his first imprisonment within the titular void.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: The Garlic Jr. Saga retroactively makes them from an alien race, native to the Makyo Star, in addition to being demons.
* NoBrows: None of them have eyebrows.
* OhCrap: They're all prone to this, especially [[ButtMonkey Nicky.]] The latter himself gets a hilarious one upon realizing that Ginger is being blasted ''straight towards him''. Neither of them survives.
** Sansho realizes quickly how screwed he is against Piccolo when forced to fight one-on-one.
* OneWingedAngel: They all bulk up and increase their powers by shouting weird things related to their names.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: They're clearly intended to be purer demonic counterparts to Demon King Piccolo's offspring and even Emperor Pilaf's minions, with their leader and his father before him being demon counterparts of Kami, Piccolo (both Daimao and Jr.), and in the former case Pilaf himself. Even when the anime's filler arc reveals their outer space origin, mirroring the canon material's revelations about Kami and Piccolo, it does its best to maintain the demonic motif. Their homeworld is an ominous evil red rogue planet even called the Makyo Star (Makyo-sei), which roughly translates to "Demon world" according to Japanese Buddhism. It's almost as though Namek itself had an EvilCounterpart.
* PityTheKidnapper: Nicky is saddled with looking after Gohan while the other two collect the last two dragon balls. Long story short, Gohan [[ItMakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext gets drunk from a fruit]] and the hapless Nicky spends a minute and a half chasing a tipsy child around the castle trying to get the kid under control. It's only after Gohan passes out on Garlic's throne that the Makyan can collect him.
* PointyEars: All of them. It appears to be a Makyan trait (aside from Mustard of the Spice Boys).
%%* RedEyesTakeWarning: Ginger's eyes have red sclera.
* ScreamsLikeALittleGirl: Nicky in the original Japanese after he sees Gohan about to eat the apple.
* SinisterScimitar: Played straight by Nicky and Ginger: the swords they pull out of their limbs are curved enough to be considered scimitars, and they're evil.
* SpikesOfVillainy: They have sharp points on their armor, gauntlets, and skins. Ginger and Nicky's turn out to be scimitars housed in their forearms and legs respectively.
* StupidEvil: Them kidnapping Gohan instead of just taking his hat or better yet tearing off the dragon ball from his hat. Thanks to that, Goku is quick to pursue them and be in time to help thwart Garlic Jr.'s plot. Goku probably would have interfered anyway if just to reclaim the dragon ball (it being his grandfather's keepsake), but the Makyans still didn't do themselves any favors.
* SuperMode: Like their master, they can bulk up into larger, more muscular versions of themselves, though they also rely on spoken words related to their names that Garlic does not seem to require.
* TerribleTrio: The first of what would become a trend among DBZ hench-villains.
* ThisIsGonnaSuck: Nicky can only groan [[GratuitousEnglish "Aw, geez!"]] after Gohan becomes inebriated. He has this reaction briefly just before he and Ginger are vaporized by a Kamehameha from Goku.
* TooDumbToLive: Like Garlic Jr., they know about the life link between Piccolo and Kami but apparently didn't know that doing so would have rendered the dragon balls as worthless stones.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Nicky is shown to like fruit, particularly apples. He laments in the Funimation dub that watching Gohan almost made him miss his lunch...before Gohan smacks into his back.
%%* UnderwearOfPower: Ginger and Sansho both wear briefs.
* UndyingLoyalty: Despite their slight fear of him, all three of them don't hesitate to cheer Garlic Jr. on when he attains immortality.
* VillainousGlutton: Nicky plops three apples into his mouth at once while retrieving the four-star ball and later laments almost missing his lunch when having to babysit Gohan.
%%* VillainousWidowsPeak: Nicky has a barely noticeable one in his hair.
%%* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Nicky is the only member of the trio with hair on his head.
* WolfPackBoss: The three of them prefer attacking in a group in order to quickly overwhelm their foes and finish them off. Piccolo realizes this from his initial beatdown by them and quickly separates Sansho from the other two, easily killing the latter without much fuss. Conversely, Goku has a considerably more difficult time tackling Ginger and Nicky one-on-two and has to knock the latter away so he can focus on the former before he can get them both in one shot.
* WorstWhateverEver: Nicky in the Funimation dub calls Gohan "the worst child ever" after chasing the freshly-intoxicated boy all around the castle.
* WouldHitAGirl: Ginger had no issue using a kiai wave to smack [[MamaBear Chi-Chi]] for getting in his way.
* YellowEyesOfSneakiness: Nicky and Sansho have the sclera, though the former's are a paler shade.
* YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe: They are all taken aback at first when they see that the son of Son Goku, the world's strongest man, is seemingly nothing but a simpering crybaby.
* YouMonster: Sansho screams this at Piccolo after he's smashed through several pillars and just before the Namekian offs him.

A demonic alien whose father was in the running for the title of the God of Earth. He lost to Kami and tried to take it by force but was defeated and thrown into the Dead Zone. Garlic Jr. later comes to exact his revenge for this, firstly gaining immortality via the Dragon Balls (until ''Anime/DragonBallSuper'', he held the distinction of being the only Dragon Ball villain to ever achieve this, canon or otherwise), then trying to kill Kami. He has to deal with Goku and Piccolo first and winds up falling to his own attack, The Dead Zone. During the ''Garlic Jr Saga'' of ''Dragon Ball Z'', he comes back when a powerful star manages to free him and tries to take over the Earth with the Black Water Mist that turns anyone exposed to it into mindless raving vampire-like beings. Gohan, Piccolo, and Krillin are the only ones left not exposed to the mist and once again do battle with him, where you'd think he ''won't'' come up with the same trick that failed in ''Dead Zone''... right? Nope, [[TooDumbToLive he once again falls for his Dead Zone attack]], this time with no way out after Gohan destroyed said star. [[EpicFail Whoops]].
----
%%* AliensAreBastards: Mainly in his second appearance.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Has light teal skin, and when he transforms his skin darkens to a bluish-green.
* AmbitionIsEvil: His father wanted the post of Kami 300 years before the events of the series, seemingly for no other reason than just "because". And while succeeding Kami isn't his primary goal, Garlic Jr. does set himself up as something of an "evil Kami" for a short time after his return from the Dead Zone.
* AmplifierArtifact: The Makyo Star serves as this for all Makyans, boosting their power with proximity to it. The star getting close to Earth is what gives Garlic Jr. the power to bust out of the Dead Zone, and it getting even closer near the climax of the arc boosts him and his remaining minions even further just in time for another power-up against Piccolo, Gohan, and Krillin. Unfortunately for Garlic Jr., it's also the main source of the Makyans' power, and with Gohan destroying it Garlic Jr. loses all his strength and is [[HoistByHisOwnPetard unable to escape the very Dead Zone he reopened to take out Earth]].
* AndIMustScream: After becoming immortal he gets sealed away inside the Dead Zone for all eternity. ''Twice''.
* TheAntichrist: Is the son/reincarnation of a powerful demonic being who in ages past attempted to usurp the rightful place of Earth's reigning deity with an army of demons, and was banished for it to a dimension of darkness. The son's only goal is to avenge/free his father. His arrival leads to a world-wide corruption of the Earth's population, and he even erects a throne for himself after seemingly desposing of all opposition.
* ArchEnemy: To Kami, for sealing his father in the Dead Zone, and later himself ''twice''.
%%* AxCrazy: He puts up a (very) thin facade of being AffablyEvil, but when pressed he shows his true colors as this in very short order.
* BadassCape: Always wears a really long (for his stature) white cape in his normal state. This allows him to pull a TheCoatsAreOff every time he transforms.
* BaldOfEvil: A bald, demonic, evil alien.
* BroadStrokes: His appearance in the main series in between the Frieza and Android arcs. While the ''Dead Zone'' movie could have taken place before Raditz's arrival on Earth, there are certain things that could not have happened; namely, Goku visiting Roshi, Bulma, and Krillin at Kame House to borrow the Dragon Radar before heading for Garlic's fortress (since his reunion with them at the start of ''Z'' was supposed to be the first they saw of him since the end of the original series), and Krillin meeting Gohan (since he was just as shocked as the others when Goku told them he's his son.)
* CanonForeigner: He is a filler character who only appears in the ''DBZ'' anime and is not in the canon material as he doesn't appear in the manga nor is he mentioned or referenced in other works (especially in ''Super'').
* CanonImmigrant: Subverted. After his movie, he later returns in the regular ''Dragon Ball Z'' series as the BigBad of his own mini-anime-filler-only saga in between the Frieza and Cell Sagas, making him the only movie villain (aside from Beerus and Whis) to show up as part of the anime TV series, if not the manga.
* CompleteImmortality: The only one to have this wish successfully given to him by Shenron, as well as the only one to actually have absolute immortality (although some characters were implied to be immortal, such as Master Roshi and the Androids, it seems to be limited to natural causes). Until Future Zamasu in ''Dragon Ball Super'', anyway.
* TheCorrupter: Apparently the reason for his otherwise-inexplicable kidnapping of Gohan. He planned to train the young Saiyan into his underling, but the arrival of Kami and the Z-Fighters derailed his plans.
* TheCorruption: His Black Water Mist brings out the worst in all life on Earth, even animals.
* CreepyHighPitchedVoice: He has a high and raspy tone in his small form, especially in the Ocean dub.
* DepravedDwarf: Even shorter than Gohan in his base form, roughly 3'.0" high which is also only an inch higher than Emperor Pilaf.
* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas: His main reason for attacking Kami in the movie was to avenge his fallen father. In the series, he solemnly vows to use the Dragon Balls to bring him back, and when he thought Piccolo died and the Dragon Balls are consequently gone, he lamented the loss but remained steadfast in finding another way.
* EvilSoundsDeep: His transformation causes his voice to deepen. Even in Funimation's redub of ''Dead Zone'', where no filter was used (unlike the Garlic Jr. Saga), he still sounds suitably deep.
* {{Expy}}:
** Looks like a more serious and threatening version of Pilaf, to the point that they share the same voice actor. Both are voiced by Chuck Huber in the [=FUNimation=] dub, Don Brown in the Ocean Group dub, as well as Shigeru Chiba in the Japanese version (Shigeru only voiced Garlic Jr. in the anime, not the movie).
** A partial one to Frieza, at least in his second appearance. Both are sadistic, tyrannical megalomaniacs with a total LackOfEmpathy. Just like Frieza, he's an alien invader who enjoys the suffering of pacific beings on a large scale and wants to be immortal (successfully).
** His backstory clearly pulls from the Piccolo Jr. arc, as mentioned in the Foil section.
* FangsAreEvil: He has pointed teeth [[SlasherSmile which he enjoys showing off.]]
* FateWorseThanDeath: He's trapped in the Dead Zone, literally forever as he'll never die.
* FillerVillain: Garlic Jr. is a unique case as the ''Z'' series rarely had any anime-only arcs during its run and at best just expanded on manga-based material. He was the only one to get a filler arc to himself. What's more, he was a villain from a movie as well. Garlic Jr also had good reasons for being a credible threat. 1) He wasn't particularly that powerful, even Kami could hurt him, but he WAS immortal so he just couldn't be defeated and the heroes would exhaust themselves against him, and 2) in his filler arc, both Goku (who was now so much more powerful than him it wasn't funny) and Vegeta were off-planet, leaving the weaker characters to have to deal with him.
* {{Foil}}: To Piccolo. Both of their fathers were in line to be Guardian of the Earth, and both were turned down due to evil in their hearts. Both Garlic and King Piccolo were sealed away for centuries. Both sons turned out to be evil and swore vengeance on their fathers' enemies. However, Piccolo [[HeelFaceTurn turned good]] and befriended his ArchEnemy, while Garlic Jr. remained evil and was defeated twice by the good guys. Also, Piccolo Jr. learned to reverse the method used to seal away his father, turning it back on Kami. Garlic Jr actually invoked and was done in by the same method used to seal his.
* GameOfNerds: In the dub he uses a lot of baseball terms, making one wonder if this psychotic little imp actually has a hobby.
* GreenAndMean: Has turquoise skin with green spots on his head and is an insanely evil bastard.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard:
** Unlike his enemies, he literally cannot die. The first half of the movie was him basically moving to make that the case. Yet, somehow, he gets the [[SarcasmMode brilliant idea]] of opening a void to eternal darkness, never considering that if he gets accidentally trapped there, it will become worse torture for him than for anyone else ever because, again, he literally cannot die.
** Then he manages to get out by a stroke of luck because his home planet approaches Earth and gives him enough power to do this. Only for him to get so mad at the foiling of his EvilPlan to TakeOverTheWorld that... [[TookALevelInDumbass he pulls the]] ''[[TooDumbToLive same shtick again]]''. No prizes for guessing what happened next.
** There's also the fact that he tries to have Piccolo ([[CantLiveWithoutYou and by extension Kami]]) killed ''before'' using the Dragon Balls (which become inert if Kami dies) to wish for immortality. Creator/TeamFourStar in ''WebVideo/DragonBallZAbridged'' gleefully lampshaded this one.
* ImmortalityHurts: He's trapped in the Dead Zone, literally forever as he'll never die.
** During his TV-filler arc in the Japanese version, Piccolo, who had become a match for the world-destroying PhysicalGod ''Freeza'', gleefully lampshades this as he pounds into the ''significantly'' weaker Garlic Jr like a blue Pinata
---> ''"Hurts doesn't it? I'm going to make you regret ever becoming immortal, you bastard!"''
* InTheHood: He wears it up during his return, similar to how Ginger formally debuted, but never in ''Dead Zone''.
%%* KickTheDog: When he mercilessly beats Kami.
* TheKindnapper: He's strangely lenient with the kidnapped Gohan, not locking him up or anything and pretty much allowing the boy to run about his evil fortress doing as he pleases (which leads to a very bizarre scene where Gohan eats some kind of demonic fruit and has the anime 5-year old equivalent of an LSD trip).
* MeanBoss: Upon Gohan killing the last two of the Spice Boys, all he does is muse that they were no match for the former and spares them no further word. Still sounds like a consolation prize compared to his original minions from his debut movie, whose deaths he didn't even acknowledge when Goku and Piccolo confronted him, fresh off of disposing of those henchmen.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Thanks for setting up a perfectly fitting technique for dealing with those who can never die. Twice! The first time, at least, he had no logical reason to assume that Gohan would intervene. His second saw him suffer from a textbook VillainousBreakdown for the heroes foiling his plan and left him desperate enough to be rid of Gohan, Krillin, and Piccolo that he foolishly broke out the Dead Zone with the source of his power looming over them in the distance. Piccolo remembers Spice expositing about the Makyo Star, pointing it out to Gohan, and that was all she wrote.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: He comes from the Makyo Star as revealed in his titular return filler arc. Yet he is also a demon who can call forth the undead and has access to the Dead Zone; a void that can trap anybody within until they die.
* NoBrows: He has no hair over his eyes in addition to [[BaldOfEvil his noggin.]]
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: He's clearly intended to be a demon...from outer space. His homeworld is even called the Makyo Star (Makyo-sei), which roughly translates to "Demon world".
* OurVampiresAreDifferent: His appearance heavily takes after Film/{{Nosferatu}}, he has fangs, his name, and the Black Water Mist that turns victims into vampiric slaves.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Even in his base form which is roughly the height of Gohan is no slouch, being able to pummel [[PhysicalGod Kami]] into submission.
* PointyEars: His kind mainly has pointed ears.
* PowerOfTheVoid: He has the power to open a portal to a void dimension called the Dead Zone.
* PutOnABusToHell: Or rather into a dark lifeless void which can, barring a miracle, can never be freed from…twice! [[FateWorseThanDeath The second time is implied to be permanent.]]
* QuirkyMinibossSquad: Has two: Nicky, Ginger, and Sansho in ''Dead Zone''; and the Spice Boys (Spice, Vinegar, Mustard, and Salt) when he returns in ''Z''.
* {{Sadist}}: He greatly enjoys seeing the victims of the Black Water Mist attack their loved ones, including Piccolo, [[spoiler:(or so he thinks)]] yelling at him to strangle Gohan.
* ShutUpHannibal: After his MotiveRant:
-->'''Goku:''' I didn't come here to listen to your life story! ''Where's Gohan?!''
* SoLastSeason: When he shows up in his {{Filler}} arc, even with the massive power boost he got from the Makyo Star he's still much weaker than Frieza in the preceding arc, but he gets by thanks to his immortality making him ''much'' tougher than he otherwise would be and the fact that Goku and Vegeta aren't around to stomp his face in. Even so, Piccolo alone (who at this point disregarding any offscreen training was at least an even match for Frieza's second form) showed he was a decent match-up during their first proper showdown which he only started losing thanks to Kami being attacked elsewhere which weakened him by extension, and even when Garlic Jr. resorted to his giant form to turn the tables Piccolo still matched him with his own giant form.
* TheSociopath: Zigzags between incredibly high and incredibly low functioning. On the one hand, he is the one pre-''Super'' villain to successfully wish for immortality. On the other hand, he seemingly loses all sense of reason or self-preservation after gaining said immortality, and even after having this bite him in the butt in a big way, is shown to have learned nothing from it when he comes back.
* StarterVillain: Within the canonicity of this film he appears before Raditz (as Krillin is first introduced to Gohan here), thus taking the hapless Saiyan's place as "first post-DB villain". Funny enough, Garlic and Raditz share the same Japanese voice.[[note]]Only in the series, though Shigeru Chiba did voice Garlic's lackey Nicky in the movie[[/note]]
* StoneWall: He's bulky and slow in his SuperMode, so much so that Piccolo's own giant form, which notably also slows him down, could easily get the upper hand on him. That said, he's also immortal by that time, meaning he can afford to take just about any hits necessary until he's in the perfect position to counter-attack.
* StupidEvil: After becoming immortal, he becomes probably the most unintelligent BigBad the heroes ever face, making barely-sentient creatures like Janemba and Hirudegarn look like brain trusts in comparison. Say what you will about their GenericDoomsdayVillain nature, at least none of them fell prey to their own attacks ''twice''.
* SuperMode: He is able to transform into a bulking, vascular monstrosity that towers over everyone in the cast save those with their own giant transformations.
* TooDumbToLive: After his first imprisonment inside the Dead Zone, which took him nothing short of a miracle to bail him out, he disregards the fact that his source of power and lifeline should the same scenario happen again is right in the heroes' line of sight and uses the Dead Zone trick ''again'' in what would prove to be his final mistake. Gohan nuked the star, he lost all his power, and although it didn't kill him, [[AndIMustScream he’s likely now]] [[FateWorseThanDeath wishing it should have]].
* VillainTakesAnInterest: He senses Gohan's ki flaring up after Ginger, Nicky, and Sansho brings the boy back to his lair and he decides to take the boy in and raise him as a demon clansman, figuring that his power might be of use to him. By the time of his return, he has seemingly gotten over it and now wants Gohan dead as part of his revenge.
* VillainousBreakdown: Garlic Jr. is '''PISSED''' when he sees the effects of the Black Water Mist have been undone. At that moment, he breaks out the Dead Zone with the full intention of consuming Earth just to be rid of Gohan, Krillin, and Piccolo. [[NiceJobFixingItVillain This ends up sealing his fate for good.]]
* WeWillMeetAgain: As he's thrust into the Dead Zone for the first time, he proclaims that this will not be the end as he literally cannot die. Thanks to the arrival of the Makyo Star boosting his power, he ''was'' able to break out and return almost three years later to endanger the Earth once more.
* WhoWantsToLiveForever: He learns the hard way that immortality is far from a blessing when you find yourself sucked into a dark void with no conventional way out. Piccolo spells out the conventional issues regarding such an existence before he and Goku even begin fighting him:
-->'''Piccolo''': "Try to imagine how it'll feel to live, unable to do anything with all that power you possess! Then you'll know what Hell is really like!"
* UnskilledButStrong: When powered up, he's so bulked up that he's too slow for the more finesse-filled fighters that comprise the protagonists. That said, not only is he much more physically strong when powered up, any blows dealt to him don't matter because, by then, he already wished for immortality.
* YouKilledMyFather: He holds Kami in contempt for sealing his father in the Dead Zone.

Warriors created by Dr. Wheelo to capture and defeat the world's strongest warrior.
------
* {{Acrofatic}}: Misokatsun is quite larger than Kishime and Ebifurya, but he is just as fast.
* AnIcePerson: Ebifurya has freezing powers.
* TheCameo: Misokatsun and one of the Bio-Men make a cameo in ''Fusion Reborn'' as one of the many villains who escaped from Hell.
* CreepyHighPitchedVoice: The Bio-Men all have high raspy tones. Kishime also has it in the Ocean dub.
* DarkIsEvil: Both Kishime and Ebifurya have black in their armor and enjoy freezing and shocking Goku during their fight.
%%* EvilRedhead: Ebifurya has long wild red hair in a ponytail.
* {{Expy}}: The Bio-Men are very clearly based on the Saibamen. One even gets killed by Piccolo in a similar manner to the way he killed a Saibamen. ''Dragon Ball Heroes'' takes this a step further and actually gives them the ability to self-destruct. One difference is that they can talk.
* FatBastard: Misokatsun is very obese. He even weaponizes his flab so that Goku's normal attacks do no damage.
* GreenAndMean: Kishime has green skin and is shown to be quite more vicious during his and Ebifurya's battle with Goku and company, giving them some nasty electric shocks. The Bio-Men are bluish-green.
* LightningLash: Kishime's main schtick involves producing electrical tendrills from his arms and joining the energies together to form deadly whips.
%%* NoBrows: Like with many non-human characters.
* OnlySixFaces: Misokatsun bears a fair resemblance to Dodoria only bigger and less spiky.
* OntologicalInertia: Gohan and Krillin are still frozen by Ebifurya's ice blasts even once Goku defeats him and Kishime.
* PointyEars: All of them, including the Bio-Men, have pointed ears as a result of bio-engineering.
* PsychoElectro: Kishime sadistically shocks Goku, Gohan, and Krillin with his energy tentacles.
* RealMenWearPink: Ebifurya has light-pinkish skin and is as brutal as his fellow bio-warriors.
%%* RedEyesTakeWarning: The Bio-Men have red eyes.
* RubberMan: Misokatsun’s body is very stretchy, however, it has a limit to how much it can stretch.
* ShockAndAwe: Kishime has electrical powers.
* TheSpeechless: Kishime and Misokatsun don't seem capable of speech.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The Funimation redub rendered Misokatsun's name as "'''Mikokatsun'''".
* SuperSoldier: Kishime, Ebifurya, and Misokatsun were built to be as strong as possible so they could take down the world's strongest warrior.
%%* TerribleTrio: Kishime, Ebifurya, and Misokatsun.
* TorsoWithAView: How Misokatsun meets his end. Goku stretches him out and goes kaio-ken to blow a hole through his stomach.
%%* VillainousCheekbones: Ebifurya
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: The Bio-Men vanish from the film after Roshi and Bulma are kidnapped. It's likely they remained in Wheelo's fortress afterward and were killed when it was destroyed during the climax.

Dr. Wheelo's assistant. He gathered the Dragon Balls and wished his master to be freed and resurrected from his frozen fortress so that they could take over the world. He created the Bio-Warriors to test the strength of the world's strongest guy, before transferring Dr. Wheelo's brain to the strongest body. As a result of his plans, he has captured Bulma and Master Roshi, which leads to conflict with the Z-Warriors.
----
* AccentAdaptation: Kochin is given a German accent in the Funimation dub, courtesy of Troy Baker.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Has gray skin. Whether he was colored like this before his robotic conversion remains sketchy.
%%* BaldOfEvil: His misshapen head has male pattern baldness.
* BullyingADragon: Intentionally mocks Gohan, calling him a baby, further provoking an already enraged Gohan. Dr. Wheelo tries to tell him to stop angering him, but Kochin didn't heed his warning...
* DisneyVillainDeath: When Dr. Wheelo emerges, he crumbles the floor, causing Dr. Kochin to fall into his death, though it isn't the fall that kills him...
* TheDragon: To Dr. Wheelo, enacting his wishes and plans.
* ClassyCane: A jade walking stick with a decorative Shenron topper.
* CreepyHighPitchedVoice: Emphasized whenever he laughs "Eyeh eyeh eyeh!"
* EdibleThemeNaming: Like Dr. Wheelo and the rest of his henchmen, he's named after food from Akira Toriyama's birthplace of Nagoya, specifically the Nagoya Cochin breed of chicken.
* EvilutionaryBiologist: He is an expert in biotechnology, saved Dr. Wheelo's brain, and created the Bio-Warriors.
%%* EvilGenius: Being a scientific assistant to Dr. Wheelo makes him this.
* EvilGloating: Gleefully mocks Gohan over being just a kid and brainwashing Piccolo to do Dr. Wheelo's bidding. Wheelo warned him twice to stop provoking Gohan, but it's already too late.
* EvilLaugh: A distinct "Eyeh eyeh eyeh!" The Ocean dub masterfully retains it. The Funimation dub...not so much.
* EvilOldFolks: He is an amoral scientist who looks rather withered and ancient-looking, and bears a resemblance to [[Series/TalesFromTheCrypt the Crypt Keeper]].
* EvilSoundsRaspy: His voice is as crackly as he is ugly, especially when he's ranting about how he sustained Dr. Wheelo's brain.
* FauxAffablyEvil: He is rather polite with his captives, but he has sinister intentions for them. He assures Goku that the process of changing brains would be quite painless, while also making him a bit smarter.
* FlunkyBoss: Despite being TheDragon to Dr. Wheelo, he prefers to rely on traps, minions, brainwashing, and hidden weapons to deal with threats. [[spoiler:Ultimately subverted though, as he does have a built-in gatling gun in his arm to fight back Krillin]].
* GatlingGood: [[spoiler:His arm is robotic and can transform into a Gatling Gun, much to Krillin and Bulma's surprise]].
* {{Gonk}}: Ancient, wrinkled, pale grey, and missing all but one of his teeth, he also has pointed ears and a misshapen head, making him resemble more of a goblin than a human.
* TheHeavy: While Dr. Kochin served as TheDragon to Dr. Wheelo, it was he who enacted the plot of the movie. He gathered the Dragon Balls, wished for his master to be free, and through the Bio-Warriors and Bio-Men he created, has kidnapped Master Roshi, Bulma, and [[spoiler:Piccolo]].
* KickTheDog: After making a brainwashed Piccolo attack Gohan and Goku, he further enrages Gohan by insulting him.
* LabcoatOfScienceAndMedicine: Wears a white lab coat and is an evil scientist.
* LargeHam: Dr. Kochin is quite dramatic with his introductions and his plans regarding Dr. Wheelo, world domination, and experimentation.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Mocking Gohan caused him to exert so much energy that it broke the device controlling Piccolo. [[spoiler:He is defeated by Master Roshi, the very fighter he kidnapped. Master Roshi literally disarmed Dr. Kochin as he tries to kill Bulma]].
%%* MadScientist: Bulma considers him and Dr. Wheelo insane, much to Dr. Kochin's outrage.
* MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily: Inverted. Dr. Kochin only has one sole tooth left, the rest of his mouth are just gums.
* NoBrows: He has no visible eyebrows.
* NotTheFallThatKillsYou: He falls due to Dr. Wheelo breaking loose from his confines, but that isn't what kills him. The excess energy from Wheelo channeling through the fortress electrocutes Kochin and burns off his skin, revealing him to be a robot. He can barely utter his colleague's name twice before exploding midfall.
* RoboticReveal: [[spoiler:Just before he dies, the excess energy from the fortress electrocutes him, burning off his clothing and skin, revealing him to be a robot. It explains why he's still around, despite supposedly dying 50 years ago]].
%%* TakeOverTheWorld: Dr. Kochin and Dr. Wheelo's ultimate goal.
* WaveMotionGun: [[spoiler:He has one hidden in his ''cane,'' that can fire off a massive wave of energy]].

Wheelo himself [[UnusuallyUninterestingSight makes no note of it]] when it occurs, though it could have been his way of punishing Kochin [[VillainBall for ignoring his warnings]] [[EvilGloating to stop antagonizing Gohan]] over [[BrainwashedAndCrazy brainwashing]] Piccolo.
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: His battle body is not quite as large as Hirudegarn, but it is probably the second largest of all ''DBZ'' villains.
* AxCrazy: Despite hating being called insane, he becomes absolutely enraged with Goku, to the point of trying to destroy the earth.
* BadBoss: He kills his own second-in-command without either noticing or caring, and his henchmen are literally disposable.
* BrainInAJar: What he appears to be. In truth he is hooked up to his giant mecha battle body the whole time, but he holds off on using it due to it being his Plan B.
* BrainMonster: Dr. Wheelo's brain is far larger than a human brain, which is mounted on a very non-humanoid mecha, making him resemble more of a giant mechanized monster.
* BrainTheft: Plans to kidnap Master Roshi so he can steal his brain and put his own in Roshi's. When Goku proves stronger, he chooses him instead.
* ColdHam: In the [=FUNImation=] dub, while he does get excited, he still retains the creepy monotone, but once he reaches his VillainousBreakdown, he goes ballistic.
* CyberCyclops: He has one camera eye with a red lens on his life support. He also has surveillance cameras with the same eye, allowing him to oversee the whole base.
* {{Cyborg}}: Despite having a mechanical battle body, he puts out ki which is capable of being sensed, revealing him to be one of these, even though all that is left of his original human body.
* DivineIntervention: Possibly, as it is speculated that his inhumane and ''forbidden'' experiments were an affront to the gods, resulting in his entire laboratory being frozen over. Whether his sealing was actually the result of divine intervention or just a harsh winter is never made clear.
* DubNameChange: Literally. The dub uses "Willow" while the subtitles use "Wheelo."
* EdibleThemeNaming: Named after [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uiro "uirō"]], a gelatinous sweet from Akira Toriyama's home prefecture of Aichi. All his mooks are also named after foods from the area (Misokattsun -> ''miso-katsu'', Ebifuryaa -> ''ebi-furai'', Kishime -> ''kishimen soba'').
* EvolutionaryLevels: It is speculated in Daizenshuu #6 that this is the reason for his abnormally large brain size. Interestingly, he was originally supposed to have a normal-sized brain and other organs on display, but it was ultimately decided to just give him a freakishly large brain for some reason.
%%* EvilSoundsDeep: Has a rather deep, reverberating voice in all dubs.
* TheFaceless: Dr. Wheelo's head is obscured from what we see of his original body. All that is left is his brain.
* GeniusBruiser: His goal, besides to have a body to feel ''alive'' again instead of being stuck in a robot body, is to have ''the world's mightiest body'', since he believes himself to have the world's greatest intellect.
* GrandTheftMe: He wanted to steal the strongest body on Earth, which he initially believed was Muten Roshi, but later learned it was Goku... because Bulma couldn't keep her mouth shut.
* HumongousMecha: Though this one resembles more of some kind of alien-like mechanical monstrosity with a giant brain mounted on it and is extremely durable and powerful.
* InsufferableGenius: There's no denying he's smart, but he's got an ego on him at least as large as the giant battle body he pilots.
* KickTheDog: While it may not be that this wasn't really his intention to do so, he killed his apprentice, Dr. Kochin when he revealed his mechanical body in order to fight Goku and his allies. Kochin fell off the edge of the platform and his body (revealed to be mechanical under artificial skin) was destroyed when the base's 'power core' activated.
%%* LargeAndInCharge: Absolutely massive compared to most of the characters in the franchise.
* LargeHam: Apart from the [=FUNimation=] dub, he sounds more diabolical, though the voice still reverberates. He gives a very passionate speech about his plans, otherwise, his tone is slightly more subdued than most examples.
* MachineMonotone: In the [=FUNImation=] dub, he sounds robotic. Averted in the other dubs.
* MadScientist: Often called this, as well as a lunatic, which he laments. He committed a lot of amoral, and according to Bulma, inhumane experiments, and is very willing to destroy life.
* MyBrainIsBig: It is unknown how or why Dr. Wheelo's brain ended up so large, considering he was once human.
* NoNonsenseNemesis: When he personally fights Goku and company, he absolutely does not mess around, using everything he has in his arsenal. When he notices Goku was up to something (which is charging the Spirit Bomb), he blasts him aggressively, and when the Z-Warriors try to distract him, he goes straight into blowing up the Earth.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Dr. Wheelo is one of the most original-looking villains, as most movie villains tend to be an Expy of another character. He is a giant brain in a jar, that turns out to be mounted on a giant, mechanical body, that is rather alien-looking. [[InvertedTrope He later gains his own expy]] in the form of [[Characters/DragonBallZVillains Dr. Gero]], another brain–in–a–jar mad scientist using an android created by his own robotic assistant and obsessed with Goku. Sadly, this has worked against his legacy -- much like the character of [[OurCentaursAreDifferent Motaro]] from ''Franchise/MortalKombat'', his uniquely-shaped body has made him miss out on most adaptational opportunities over the years. Compare him to his expy Gero, who has made many more adaptational appearances just because his body is of normal human shape.
* OutOfFocus: He is noteworthy as being one of the most infrequently appearing movie villains, never being seen again in the anime and only appearing in six of the dozens upon dozens of ''Dragon Ball'' games since[[note]]It's specially noticeable when [[VideoGame/DragonBallZBudokaiTenkaichi Budokai Tenkaichi]] games only added him in the third game, when it got giant characters since the first one[[/note]]. Also, he has a grand total of ''one'' piece of merch, a tiny gumball figurine. Even generic Frieza Soldiers have gotten more than that!
* PlanetDestroyer: While he fails in his attempt to destroy the Earth, it is stated that at his maximum power that he is more than capable of the act.
* PoorCommunicationKills: Inverted, as Bulma's inability to keep her loose lips from flapping results in him realizing that Roshi is no longer the strongest man on Earth and that that title is now claimed by Son Goku.
* RandomPowerRanking: According to the ''Anime/DragonBallZTheTreeOfMight'' movie pamphlet, Dr. Wheelo's power level is 39,000, making him stronger than Saiyan Saga Vegeta and base form Turles but weaker than powered-up Turles and all subsequent movie villains.
* RiddleForTheAges: How his brain got so big while it was inside the mech is never revealed. The fact that his brain is so big is [[UnusuallyUninterestingSight not even brought up]], never mind the question of how he was planning to transfer it into a body when it clearly wouldn't fit. ''Daizenshuu 6'' simply speculates that his brain "evolved".
** There's also his causing Dr. Kochin to fall resulting in the latter's death. Was it an accident? Him punishing his subordinate for ignoring his commanding to stop antagonizing Gohan? There is no clear answer.
* SealedEvilInACan: His entire laboratory was sealed in ice fifty years before the story begins. It wasn't a perfect sealing, though, as his minion Dr. Kochin was able to escape and gather the Dragon Balls in order to wish for the lab to be thawed out.
* SelfMadeSuperpowers: He is a brilliant scientist. He transplanted his brain into a mecha. His goal is to take over Goku's body by transplanting his brain in it.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Uiro in Japanese, Willow in the Ocean Group dub (though it's still spelled Wheelo in the DVD extra features), and Wheelo in the Funimation dub.
* SuicidalCosmicTemperTantrum: After failing to subdue Goku and company he has one of these, deciding to just destroy his own home planet outright. How long he would be able to survive in the depths of space with his battle body is unknown, but in any case, he certainly wasn't going to be claiming the world's strongest body, or ''any'' body, that way.
* TakeOverTheWorld: His greatest desire. He believes he can achieve this by inhabiting the strongest body with his greatest mind.
* TheyCalledMeMad: In the dub, he's always been called a "lunatic" which he hated.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: Nobody seems to think it's unusual at all that Wheelo's brain is so large, and no one points out that the heads of the bodies he wants to put his brain into couldn't possibly contain it.
* VillainRespect: He speaks to and treats Master Roshi with unfailing courtesy. The rest of the heroic cast aren't so lucky.
* VillainousBreakdown: When Dr. Kochin failed to capture Goku, he decides to take matters into his own hands to steal Goku's body, accidentally killing Kochin in the process. But he is pushed too far in the battle, so he decides to kill everyone, to the point where he is willing to destroy the earth. He loses his creepy monotone in the dub as this happens, and he swears more often.
* WaveMotionGun: He has one built into his robotic body, which is capable of destroying the entire planet.

Turles's mercenary platoon. They were formed by Turles after he defected from Frieza's army.
----
* AllThereInTheScript: Only Rezun and Rakasei are named aloud in the original version and the respective English dubs. Amond's is spoken by Turles in the televised edited cut of the Ocean Group dub.
* AlmightyJanitor: Depending on your source, either Cacao or Daiz is the strongest member of the team. Despite this, Amond seems to be Turles's second-in-command.
* AlwaysIdenticalTwins: Rezun and Rakasei are identical twins.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Amond has red skin, while Rezun and Rakasei are purple midget humanoids.
%%* BaldOfEvil: Cacao, Rakasei, and Rezun are all bald.
* BountyHunter: Cacao was a bounty hunter before joining the Crusher Corps.
%%* BraidsOfAction: Amond wears his hair in a braid, not unlike Zarbon.
* TheCameo: They appear alongside the revived villains in ''Fusion Reborn''. Strangely, Turles ''himself'' is not among them.
* ChromeChampion: Cacao is encased in silver armor.
* CombinationAttack: Daiz and Cacao have an attack where they both fire a ki blast at the same time, creating a huge explosion.
* {{Cyborg}}: Cacao is a battle cyborg.
* CreepyTwins: Rezun and Rakasei are twins and are quite creepy-looking.
* CurbStompBattle: They play around with the Z-Fighters at first, but when they get serious the gang is quickly felled. Likewise, Goku puts them all down for the count with a single blow each.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Or recruitment in this case; Daiz was recruited after he lost to Turles.
* TheDragon: Amond serves this role to Turles in the film, despite not being the strongest of his men (that would be either Daiz or Cacao, depending on your source).
** In ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse2'' the ''PlayerCharacter'' can be appointed to this role if they train with Turles long enough.
* EdibleThemeNaming: With the exception of Razun (raisins), the members are named after beans and nuts.
** Amond is based on almond (and the planet he was imprisoned on is named Nutts).
** Cacao is named after cocoa beans.
** Daiz is based on the Japanese word for soy, which is ''daizu''.
** Rakasei is based on ''rakkasei'', which is the Japanese word for peanut.
* EvilCounterpart: They act as an evil version of the Z-Fighters, all being fighters that were recruited by Turles in one way or another.
** Daiz specifically could be seen as one to Vegeta. Both were princes who, after being defeated by a Saiyan, would end up switching sides and join forces with them.
%%* EvilGenius: Rezun and Rakasei built Turles's ship.
* EvilPrince: Daiz was the prince of the Pukinpa Dynasty on Planet Kabocha before joining Turles Crusher Corps.
* FaceHeelTurn: Originally Daiz led his kingdom's army in an attack on Turles. He lost; however, Turles ended up recruiting him due to being impressed by how bravely he fought.
* FossilRevival: Rezun and Rakasei were revived from fossils of the long-extinct Beenz species.
* FusionDance: Rezun and Rakasei can fuse into one being.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: Daiz actually fought ''against'' Turles in his backstory, attempting to defend his planet from the space pirate, and while he was ultimately defeated Turles was so impressed with his courage that he spared and recruited him.
* HiddenDepths: AllThereInTheManual, sure, but as detailed just below, there is ''significantly'' more to every single one of them than the movie lets on, some of which could honestly border on VillainOfAnotherStory.
* HumanAliens: Daiz. The only unusual thing about him is that he has no eyebrows. It wouldn't be illogical to assume he's a Saiyan like Turles either, although he has no tail. The artbooks, however, state that he's from the planet Kabocha. Amond counts to a lesser extent given his large size but shares this in common with Ginyu Force's Recoome who is pretty human-looking himself.
* MysteriousPast: None of their pasts are explored in their film, but they are all revealed via the ''Akira Toriyama - The World'' artbooks released between 1990 and 1995. Likewise, their names (apart from Rezun and Lakasei in most versions plus Amond in the edited Ocean dub) are never stated in the movie, only in [[AllThereInTheManual supplementary material]].
** Amond was a criminal who was arrested by the Galactic Patrol and then freed after Turles attacked the planet he was imprisoned on.
** Cacao was a battle cyborg built to fight in a war who later became a bounty hunter and eventually volunteered to join the Crusher Corps.
** Daiz was the prince of a kingdom who led an attack on Turles and lost; however, Turles recruited him due to how bravely he fought.
** Lakasei and Raisin were members of an extinct species who were brought back to life by Turles using extract from the Tree of Might's fruit.
* TheQuietOne: Cacao only utters "Da!" in the original Japanese ("Yes!" in Russian). For the uncut Ocean and AB Groupe dubs, he only grunts. He does have a few lines in the edited Ocean and Funimation dubs, however.
%%* QuirkyMinibossSquad: In proud ''DBZ'' tradition.
* PoweredArmor: Cacao's armor makes him immune to all energy-based attacks. It also contains a jet propulsion system that can help him maintain and close the distance between himself and his foes, as Yamcha found out the hard way.
* PurpleIsPowerful: Lakasei and Raisin are both purple and deliver a quick beating to Goku's friends.
* RecruitingTheCriminal: Amond was arrested by the Galactic Patrol and imprisoned on Planet Nutts; however, Turles attacked the planet on the exact same day. This allowed Amond to make his escape, and he eventually met up with Turles and was recruited.
* RobotSoldier: Cacao is established as this via AllThereInTheManual, being revealed as a cyborg created to be a soldier in an interstellar war. He was left directionless after the war ended until Turles picked him up.
%%* SpacePirates: All of them.
* SpectacularSpinning: Amond's signature technique is a Destruct-O-Disc-style attack he creates by spinning around.
* TheSyndicate: The way they are organized is less like a corrupt empire (like the Frieza Force) and more like a criminal organization made up of space gangsters. The fact that one of the platoon members (Amond) is a criminal certainly emphasizes this point.
* UnderwearOfPower: Daiz wears trunks under his armor.
* VillainOfAnotherStory: As evil counterparts to the Z-Warriors, the Crusher Corps are a group of ragtag misfits who all came together under the leadership of a spiky-haired Saiyan over the course of many adventures that are only elaborated on in guidebooks.
* WarriorPrince: AllThereInTheManual establishes that Daiz was the prince of the Pukinpa Dynasty on planet Kabocha prior to being recruited by Turles.
* WorthyOpponent: Turles recruited Daiz due to how impressed Turles was with how bravely he fought during their battle.

The BigBad of ''Anime/TheTreeOfMight''. A rogue Saiyan who oddly looks like Goku. Comes to Earth to plant the Tree of Might that when planted will suck the life out of a planet. The Z-Warriors respond to the threat and he eventually gets Spirit Bombed to pieces.
----
* TheAce: Aside from being Goku's EvilCounterpart, Turles gave Kaio-ken X20 Goku (X10 in Japanese) a run for his money and is the only villain to destroy Goku's Spirit Bomb.
* AdaptationExpansion: ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse2'' goes in-depth about Turles backstory, explaining that he was an insubordinate low-class soldier who worked for the Saiyan army under Frieza. He was offworld during Planet Vegeta's destruction, either having gone AWOL or having been sent away on a mission and decided to strike out on his own. During his travels, he learned of the Tree of Might and obtained one of its fruits, determined to use it to repeatedly power himself up until he was strong enough to challenge Frieza and take control of the universe for himself.
* AffablyEvil: Not so much in his debuting movie, but he's rather polite and encouraging to the player character in ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse2'' if they're his student, even going so far as to caution them not to get themselves killed if they train under deadlier villains like Vegeta and Frieza later.
* AlmightyJanitor: In his own words, he is a low-class warrior, but even before eating the fruit, he was stronger than Vegeta in his first appearance. (He easily defeated Piccolo who had a power level of 18,000).
* AmbitionIsEvil: Turles is one of the most ambitious villains of the ''Dragon Ball'' series, and that ambition is unequivocally portrayed as a bad thing.
* ArchEnemy: According to ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse'' games, he ''really'' despises Frieza.
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: He's easily the strongest man in his Crusher Corps, even before eating a fruit from the Tree of Might.
* BadassCape: A long white one that he wears over his Saiyan armor.
* BenevolentBoss: He's one of the few movie villains that doesn't kill his own henchmen on a whim, and even shares the fruit of the Tree of Might with them after victorious campaigns so that they can all become stronger. Sure, he's a planet-destroying space pirate who believes that MightMakesRight, but if you absolutely ''have'' to work for one of the movie villains and Cooler doesn't have any job openings, this guy's your best bet.
* BloodKnight: As to be expected of a [[ProudWarriorRaceGuy Saiyan]], he loves to fight.
* BoomerangBigot: In ''[[Anime/DragonBallPlanToEradicateTheSaiyans Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans]]'' he remarks that his hatred for the Saiyans is by far superior to Frieza's. Need we mention Turles himself is a Saiyan? And that he's ''proud'' of being a Saiyan in ''The Tree of Might''? [[spoiler:Justified: The Turles in ''The Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans'' is not the real one]]. Also, in the movie and some games, he mocks Goku for being a low-class warrior, despite the fact that he too is a low-class warrior.
* BreakoutVillain: Turles is effectively one of the most popular NonSerialMovie villains, appearing in one special along with other villains, being one of the most consistent movie characters to appear in video games to the point he gets several shots in the opening of ''[[VideoGame/DragonBallZBudokaiTenkaichi Budokai Tenkaichi 2]]'', and is effectively the most recurring villain in ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse2'', but his popularity is not as big as Broly or Cooler.
* CardCarryingVillain: A line in the dub has Goku accuse him of [[EvilCannotComprehendGood not being able to understand the difference between good and evil]].
--> “Hmph. I know the difference; I just don’t care.”
* CombatPragmatist: He's a pretty clever fighter. He forces Gohan to go into his great ape form, and he also destroys the fake moon to avoid looking at it by mistake, causing the heroes to have to fight an uncontrollable Gohan while he's rampaging. When Gohan's pet dragon calms him down, Turles just blasts him away, angering him -- this backfires as Gohan turns his attention to Turles, who just decides to kill him.
* CulturalRebel: The reason for his villainy, as Planet Vegeta's FantasticCasteSystem would have condemned him to being a low-class and disposable warrior. But after taking a level in badass courtesy of the Tree of Might, Turles decided he was done with that life and that he would no longer be ruled by anyone, [[AmbitionIsEvil preferring instead to be the ruler]].
* CurbStompBattle: His battle with Goku after activating his SuperMode. His interactions with the rest of the gang before this also qualify.
* DarkIsEvil: Just look at him. He wears dark armor and has darker skin than Goku.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Or rather servitude, which is how he acquired [[http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Daiz Daiz]].
* DefectorFromDecadence: He was originally a soldier in Frieza's Army (like all Saiyans of the time), but went AWOL and struck out on his own.
* DisproportionateRetribution: In the final American dubbing of ''Tree of Might'', between him and Goku:
--> '''Turles''': “Now, Kakarot. If you want to live, you must [[KneelBeforeZod kneel and beg forgiveness]].”
--> '''Goku''': “I... I don't know any Kakarot... that's not my name!”
--> '''Turles''': “Don't you lie to me!”
--> '''Goku''': “My name's Goku! GOKU!”
--> '''Turles''': “Then die here! FOOL!”
* TheDon: He is the leader of his own criminal organization, a platoon of space pirates.
* DubNameChange: One of the most blatant cases in the Swedish dub where he is called Raditz despite him having nothing to do with Goku's brother.
* EdibleThemeNaming: Like the other Saiyan names, his is a reference to a vegetable; in this case, lettuce.
* EnemyMine: With Slug on ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse2''. They were about to fight for the Dragon Balls on Namek for the wish of [[{{Immortality}} Eternal Life]], but decided to stop once the player character appeared.
-->'''Slug''': [[PlayerCharacter You again?!]] This is starting to annoy me!\
'''Turles''': Hmph. How would you feel about a temporary truce?\
'''Slug''': So first things first, is it? Heh... all right! I'll agree to that.
* EnergyRingAttack: Turles has an attack in which he form a ring of energy with electric sparks between his palms and fires it at the enemy with the flat side outward. The attack was never named in ''Tree of Might'' but is called "Kill Driver" in ''Anime/DragonBallPlanToEradicateTheSaiyans''. Turles gets a stronger version of the attack called "Hyper Kill Driver" in ''VideoGame/DragonBallFusions''.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Even as an immoral {{sociopath}}, he seems to have some standards:
** In ''Xenoverse 2'', where even he is horrified by Frieza's new Golden form:
--->'''Turles''': Tch... he's even more of a monster than I thought!\
'''Golden Frieza''': Yes, and far more cruel to boot.
** He also expresses some scorn about Cell's particular brand of sadism in ''Xenoverse 2's'' DLC, remarking that he can't understand "how that loser Cell thinks" and says that if Cell's intention was to wreak havoc, he should have just done it instead of going to the trouble of tormenting people with the Cell Games.
* EvilCounterpart: WordOfGod confirms he is supposed to represent what Goku would have been like without his childhood head injury. Both he and Goku enjoy fighting and food, and if All There In the Manual is a credible source, both earned the allegiance of a good number of their comrades by [[DefeatMeansFriendship defeating them in battle]].
* EvilGloating: At first. He gets angrier as the movie progresses and more or less drops this by the final showdown.
* EvilMentor: He's an optional mentor for the main character in ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse2''.
* EvilTwin: His similarities to Goku go all the way to being his doppelganger. The French and Danish dubs refer to him as Goku's brother.
* {{Expy}}: One of the looser examples, but he borrows a number of aspects from Saiyan Saga villains: most pivotally, his connection and parallels to Goku invoke Raditz, while him causing Gohan to transform into an ape and being defeated by the Spirit Bomb suggests Vegeta.
* FantasticRacism: In ''Xenoverse 2'', he ''really'' hates Frieza's race, to the point of wanting to [[FinalSolution commit genocide]] against them.
* FauxAffablyEvil: In the movie. Even by the standards of a Saiyan, Turles is exceptionally polite, cultured and respectful. However, he's still is a sadistic warrior who enjoys hurting children.
* ForceAndFinesse: The Finesse to Broly's Force in ''Xenoverse 2''. He considers the latter to be a loose cannon.
* FreudianExcuse: It is possible that Turles has had a violent upbringing, like most of the Saiyans from Planet Vegeta. Furthermore, AllThereInTheManual establishes that Turles's ambitions of interstellar conquest were more than a little influenced by Frieza's like-minded reign.
* FriendOrFoe: Invoked in the games if Turles is pitted against Future Trunks.
--> '''Turles:''' I didn't expect to find more Saiyan survivors, least of all here.
--> '''Future Trunks:''' If you're an enemy, just say so!
* FromCamouflageToCriminal: He belonged to the Frieza Force, but later defected to be a space pirate.
* GeniusBruiser: He can easily beat down most anybody else in the movie, and he's hardly dumb. Much like Vegeta, he is a skilled combatant and a tactical genius. He plays this example a bit straighter than most fighters in the series, seeing how he figured out how to cultivate the seeds of the Tree of Might, and revived two of his minions from the fossils of an extinct species, and made a probe for scanning planets to plant the seeds from the Tree in, which puts him leagues above any other known saiyan in terms of scientific capabilities.
* GoodHairEvilHair: One subtle difference between his and Goku's physical appearances is the presence of two "devil horns" in his hair.
* GoOutWithASmile: [[spoiler:In the ''Dragon Ball Heroes: Big Bang Mission'' manga, Tullece surprisingly sacrifices himself for Vegeta by blocking an attack from Goku Black. He smiles contently as he gets blasted to atoms.]]
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Goku uses [[spoiler:the energy from the very same PowerUpFood-producing Tree Turles planted to create a Spirit Bomb powerful enough to destroy Turles ''and'' the Tree]].
* {{Hypocrite}}: In ''VideoGame/DragonBallRagingBlast 2'', if you defeat Super Saiyan Goku while playing as Turles, he will remark: ''All the clumsiness I'd expect of a low-class fighter!'' But, according to ''Budokai Tenkaichi 3'', he isn't able to control his Great Ape form, indicating he is also a low-class Saiyan. This was later confirmed via AllThereInTheManual.
* ImmortalitySeeker: Keeping with the Vegeta inspiration, he wants to wish for CompleteImmortality so he can have his revenge on Goku in ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse2''.
--> “How I longed for this moment. In but a very short time, the Dragon Balls will grant me eternal life. If I eat enough fruit from the Tree of Might, even Frieza and Mira with all their power won't be able to stop me. I'll utterly destroy Kakarot, and the entire universe will kneel before me!”
** In ''Xenoverse 2'' DLC he takes this a step further by [[spoiler:betraying his pupil to keep Zamasu alive, solely so he can extract the secret of immortality from him]].
* InexplicablyIdenticalIndividuals: No reason is given for the fact he looks exactly like Goku.
** Some dubs either say he's Goku's brother or clone. However, Turles provides an answer when Gohan acknowledges the resemblance:
--->'''Turles''': It's not surprising I look like Kakarot. After all, there aren't many types of Low-Class Warriors.
* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: His smugness detailed below seems to be driven by an inferiority complex regarding his low class heritage, as seen with his quote to SSJ Goku detailed above. Notably, the games portray him as having very specific quotes for when he fights the higher-class elites Nappa and Vegeta -- he taunts Nappa and says he "expected more from an elite warrior" after beating him, while he mocks Vegeta as "The Princ''ess'' of all Saiyans".
* KickTheDog: He forcibly turns Gohan into a great ape and sets him loose on his own father, forcing Goku to figure out how to remove his rampaging son's tail without otherwise hurting him.
* KneelBeforeZod: Perhaps due to their shared ancestry, Turles would rather Goku "kneel before him and beg forgiveness" than kill him, even after Goku has killed his crew. When Goku refuses, however, that small glimpse of mercy is taken off the table in very short order.
* LackOfEmpathy: As is to be expected from a Saiyan. He shows no sign of anger or sadness at the defeat of his [[BadassCrew crew]], seeming more annoyed that they were defeated so easily if anything. Then there's this exchange between him and Goku in the dub:
--> '''Turles:''' “Disturbing. The strongest of all Saiyan blood and he has a soft spot for a purple dinosaur. Kakarot you raised this Saiyan too much like an Earthling!”
--> '''Goku:''' “I raised him to know the difference between good and evil! Unlike some people.”
--> '''Turles:''' “Hmph. I know the difference. I just don’t care.”
* LostInTranslation: The English dub changing his name from Tullece to Turles removes the vegetable theme that's used for Saiyan names.
* LightIsNotGood: He was decked in a long white cape before joining the fray.
* MultipleChoicePast: Foreign-language dubs try to give a reason for why he looks like Goku, and none of them agree with each other. He's either a clone of Goku, his EvilTwin (in the biological sense), or just a Saiyan who happens to look like him (the last being the official explanation).
* MysteriousPast: In ''The Tree Of Might'', we don't discover much about Turles, but there is a lot of information about him on [[AllThereInTheManual supplementary material]]. According to ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse2'', he used to work for Frieza before leaving him and funding his own troops, The Crusher Corps. Frieza considers him a pale imitation of him with an absurd ego. This would be hypocritical of Frieza to say, but remember, Frieza has the power to say so. The Galactic Patrol also wanted to arrest him, but never could.
--> '''Frieza''': “I see Turles is still alive. I thought he was dead and rotting on some forgotten planet. He amassed a small army and acted like the king of the universe. He was never more than a pale imitation of me. He is a typical, blithering Saiyan. What could [[PlayerCharacter you]] possibly hope to learn from him?”
* NearVillainVictory: ''Very'' close to winning, having defeated Goku and the rest of the Z-fighters, as well as being able to eat from the fruit of the Tree of Might. He would have won had Goku not also eaten a fruit from the same tree.
* OhCrap: Has this expression as he's fighting Goku while trying to play off all his attacks as lucky shots. [[spoiler:Gets this expression again when Goku's second Spirit Bomb, powered by the fruit, overtakes his attack.]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: While he doesn't show it due to Saiyan aging, AllThereInTheManual establishes that Turles was a veteran fighter before Planet Vegeta was destroyed, putting him in the same generation as Bardock and making him one of the oldest Saiyan survivors.
* OutOfCharacterMoment: Invoked in ''Xenoverse 2'': If Turles is your character's mentor, he will do all sorts of helpful things one wouldn't expect from the self-interested BigBad from the ''Tree of Might''. In explanation, he says this:
--> '''Turles:''' I'm perfectly capable of helping people, you know? I just do what I want. That's all there is to it.
* PaletteSwap: He's a slightly buffer Goku with a tan.
* PlanetEater: Although he eats the planet by means of the Tree of Might's fruit.
* PoliteVillainsRudeHeroes: To Goku. Oddly enough, he is WickedCultured and more composed than Goku.
* PowerUpFood: The Tree's fruit. They're so powerful that [[spoiler:Goku is able to kill Turles by using their energy to create an insanely powerful Spirit Bomb]].
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: To the point of berating Goku and Gohan for not being [[BloodKnight Saiyan]] enough.
* RebelliousSpirit: An aspect of him that is barely present in his film, but has become steadily emphasized over time since. In ''Xenoverse 2'' particularly he is by far one of the most rebellious of the mentors (both hero and villainous) and is always looking for ways to slip out from under the thumb of the Time Patrol.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: [[spoiler:In the ''Dragon Ball Heroes: Big Bang Mission'' manga, Tullece takes the chance to do one selfless act for the first time in his life, shortly before he's killed by the Crimson Masked Saiyan. He makes a HeroicSacrifice to save Vegeta, of all people.]]
* RiddleForTheAges: How Turles discovered the Tree of Might (a sacred plant that is implied to be from the higher realms) to begin with, let alone how he obtained its seeds and learned how to cultivate and harvest its fruit, is all anyone's guess.[[note]]Going by the AllThereInTheManual, this is likely meant to be another parallel to Goku; as Goku has used his fair share of mystical artifacts throughout the years.[[/note]]
* RogueAgent: He was once a warrior serving both King Vegeta and Frieza, but he decided to go off on his own and conquer planets for himself.
* {{Sadist}}: In combat, he clearly enjoys hurting others. Even by Saiyan standards, this trait of him stands out.
* SatanicArchetype: Possibly. According to Elder Kai in ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse2'', Turles's heart is essentially a ''"ball of pure evil"'', which makes sense as he is essentially Goku's EvilCounterpart as Goku (a MessianicArchetype) is known to possess a heart that is [[IncorruptiblePurePureness pure good]].
* ShadowArchetype: To Vegeta. He represents what Vegeta would be if he had never redeemed himself.
* SinkOrSwimMentor: In ''Xenoverse 2'', to the point that at one point he betrays the PlayerCharacter while telling them that if they're not strong enough to beat him, they deserve to be an UnwittingPawn. OriginalGeneration villain Fu is ''impressed'' by this, remarking that Turles is a brilliant teacher for forcing his student to power through adversity, though the Supreme Kai of Time and the Elder Kai are significantly less impressed.
--> '''Turles:''' "I've been hard at work teaching you this whole time. The lesson? The strength to carve your own path takes priority above all!"
* SmugSuper: Turles is convinced that he is one of the most powerful fighters in the universe and that no one is his equal. Unfortunately for Goku and the gang, he's got the power to back it up, at least to a point.
* TheSociopath: He is violent, ruthless, shows no kind of empathy or compassion for his victims, and shows sadism by enjoying hurting others. Even by Saiyan standards, he appears exceptionally evil, taking more sadistic joy than normal and lacking any sort of redeeming qualities or sympathetic moments whatsoever.
* SparingTheAces: Like later movie villain Cooler, Turles has a soft spot for particularly courageous fighters and will attempt to recruit them if possible, as evidenced by Daiz's backstory, his attempt to recruit Gohan and his attempt to get Goku to submit to him.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Despite "Tullece" fitting with the food naming motif, the character has also been referred to as "Turles" and "Taurus", depending on the dub. There are also Tales, Tarles or Tares. In an aversion, he's also called Raditz in one dub.
* SuperMode: Although he never became an actual Super Saiyan, he may have, at one point, been the strongest character in the franchise. Once he eats the Tree of Might's fruit, he powers up to the point that his muscles bulge even more noticeably than before. [[spoiler:He becomes so powerful that the only way Goku can beat him is to make a Spirit Bomb. His first attempt doesn't work at all. He only succeeds in killing him by making the second one out of the remaining uneaten fruit]].
** He also has the Great Ape transformation, though he never uses this on himself. Only on Gohan. Though he has been able to use it in certain video games, and his power in that form would be increased tenfold.
** Noticeably, Turles never receives the Super Saiyan transformation in ''VideoGame/DragonBallHeroes'', being among the very few major Saiyan characters to never get it (The others being King Vegeta, Tarble and Pan) instead, he is fused with the four stars Dark Dragon Ball, and thanks to the fruit of tree of might, he becomes as strong as a Demon God.
* TakeOverTheWorld: His goal is to become the strongest fighter in the universe so that he may one day rule over [[EvilOverlord everything and everyone]].
* TookALevelInBadass: Turles returns in ''Anime/SuperDragonBallHeroes'' has him gaining the "Evil Saiyan" form, allowing him to match post-God Goku.
* UnderwearOfPower: Wears black briefs under his armor.
* VillainRespect: AllThereInTheManual establishes that Turles knew when traveling to Earth that Goku was there, and that his reason for visiting was at least in part an interest in the "famously brave Bardock" and his son. As a rebel against Frieza himself, it's not hard to see why Turles would have respect for Bardock. This also explains why he tries so hard to get both Bardock's son and grandson to join him with WeCanRuleTogether offers.
** He also expresses respect for Gohan in ''Raging Blast 2'', remarking that the "little Saiyan runt from long ago" has grown into a real man when pitted against his adult incarnation.
** Subverted in ''Xenoverse 2'', where he reacts with disbelief and some scorn if the PlayerCharacter chooses to train under Kid Gohan.
---> '''Turles:''' “You're training under Kakarot's kid? I will say that his power level is not to be scoffed at. But, still... Do you really want to lower yourself to the student of a child? I thought you had more pride in yourself than that.”
* VillainTeamUp:
** He is recruited by Towa and Mira to work along Slug in ''Videogame/DragonBallXenoverse2''. Turles considers Slug to be a bit of an idiot, and urges you to whistle a bit if you see him, [[BlatantLies telling you this will make him happy]], [[{{Jerkass}} just to be an ass about it]].
** In the Future Trunks saga of the same game, he is summoned by [[Characters/DragonBallGokuBlack Goku Black]] to fight against Goku and Vegeta, making a brief alliance before the other villains appear from the Time Rift. Black notices the similarity between the two and jokes about their similar appearances.
---> '''Vegeta:''' Who the hell is that?! Are there two Black's?!
* VocalDissonance: His original Japanese VA (Creator/MasakoNozawa) voices Goku and all the other male members of his family, which is particularly striking in his case as he is very ruthless and battle-hardened yet has the same VA as Gohan.[[note]]Though she does voice Turles differently than she does Goku and his sons.[[/note]] This is subverted in the American dub, in which he has had multiple [=VA=]s which have all given him the more masculine voice one would expect from a character of his type.
* WeCanRuleTogether: This has more or less become his shtick, as he tries to recruit Gohan in ''Tree of Might'' and consistently woos the player character to join his Crusher Corps in ''Xenoverse 2''.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Turles can be considered one of these post-movie, as he is one of the few villains who was never shown in Hell and never came back in any way (which was particularly jarring in ''Anime/FusionReborn'' where ''his minions'' came back temporarily but Turles himself was nowhere to be found).
* WickedCultured: Surprisingly, considering how the Saiyans are. He manages to make a career of plundering and fighting sound somewhat sophisticated by throwing in a line about enjoying fine wines along with everything else the universe has to offer.
* WolverinePublicity: He appeared in an OVA called ''[[Anime/DragonBallPlanToEradicateTheSaiyans Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans]]'' and its remake in the game ''Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2'', due to his status as a BreakoutVillain. He is also one of the most promoted characters in ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse2'' when it comes to the non-serial villains.
* WouldHurtAChild: Had absolutely no problem viciously beating and tormenting Gohan during their encounter.
* WrittenByTheWinners: Interestingly lampshaded in ''Xenoverse 2'', where he remarks that the Time Patrollers are just "a stuffy bunch of fanatics" and that for all their talk about fighting for peace, in the end, they're just forcing their own beliefs on everyone else. As he asks the PlayerCharacter:
--> '''Turles:''' After all, it's only the winners' idea of peace that triumphs, while the losers' gets trampled in the mud. Isn't it a lot easier and more honest just to admit from the start that you're only doing what you want?

-------
* AlienBlood: Wings and Medamatcha have purple blood.
* AlwaysIdenticalTwins: Gyoshu and Kakuja are twins.
* AscendedExtra: Out of all of Slug's minions, Medamatcha was the one member to appear alongside his boss in videogames, including ''VideoGame/DragonBallHeroes''.
* AdvertisedExtra: Zeeun and either Gyoshu or Kakuja appear on the cover of the DVD despite both playing a minimal role in the film, the former two are killed before the fighting starts and the latter doesn’t fight at all.
* {{Acrofatic}}: Wings is incredibly big, but is still as athletic as his comrades.
* BackUpTwin: After Gyosju gets killed, Kakuja immediately takes his place.
* BigThinShortTrio: Medamatcha is the short one, Angila is the thin one, and Wings is the big one.
* TheCameo: Wings, Medamatcha, and Zeeun all make cameos in Fusion Reborn.
* CommandingCoolness: In the English dub, Zeeun is given the rank of commander.
* DisneyVillainDeath: Kakuja falls to his death after Lord Slug accidentally blasts his ship.
* DubNameChange: In the original Japanese version, "Wings" is named Dorodabo.
* ExtendableArms: Angila is able to extend his arms.
* {{Expy}}: Angila and Wings are practically a PaletteSwap for Zarbon and Dodoria with some token extra features, and Medamatcha seems designed to recall Guldo. In terms of role, they're pretty much the Ginyu Force, in that they're battled by a secondary character and Gohan who take down some of them but get overwhelmed until Goku shows up and curbstomps the survivors.
%%* GreenAndMean: Medamatcha has green skin.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Angila dies by having his own attack reflected back at him.
* TheHyena: Several scenes where Medamatcha is fighting have him laughing his head off.
* NonActionGuy: Kakuja doesn’t get involved in the action at all.
* SacrificialLamb: Both Zeeun and Gyoshu exist for Slug to demonstrate his power and cruelty.
* SelfDuplication: Medamatcha is able to spawn four small copies of himself.
* TerribleTrio: Wings, Angila, and Medamatcha are the most prominent of Lord Slug’s minions.
* TooDumbToLive: Zeeun should've known better than to call Lord Slug "old".
* WalkingShirtlessScene: Medamatcha doesn’t wear a shirt.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Commander Zeeun and Gyoshu are both killed very early on in Lord Slug.
* WeaksauceWeakness: None of them can handle the earth’s heat and need to freeze the planet before they can take off their armor.
* YourHeadAsplode: Angila dies when he gets his attack reflected back at him, blowing up his head.
* VillainsWantMercy: Commander Zeeun to his boss, Lord Slug. He doesn't receive it.

An evil Namekian not unlike Demon King Piccolo. Comes to Earth to gather the Dragon Balls and regain his youth then set on conquering it. A fight with the Z-Warriors ensures his plans don't get any further.
----
* AlienBlood: It's purple, like with all Namekians
* AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever: He can grow into a giant form if he wants to.
* BadBoss: His opening scene shows him killing his Commander when he makes an offhanded remark about him being old and then kills his head scientist when he told him it would take longer than he wanted to terrafreeze Earth.
* CardCarryingVillain: Proudly proclaims himself to have been "pure evil since the day I was born!" in ''Xenoverse 2''.
* EnemyMine: His relationship with Turles and Towa in ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse2'' is this. He was about to start a fight with him when it came to the Dragon Balls on Namek and only stopped because the player character appeared.
--> “Don't order me around, Mira. I don't recall ever becoming your servant! I'm only cooperating with you for now so I can have my revenge on that Saiyan brat, but that's all!”
* EvilCounterpart: To Piccolo. He is what Piccolo would have become if he became King Piccolo and not been redeemed by Gohan.
%%* EvilMentor: An optional one in ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse2''.
* EvilOldFolks: An old conqueror looking to restore his youth and power so he can go about it a little longer.
* EvilOverlord: Just like a certain other Namekian that leads something of an army that could probably destroy the world, and we actually get to see some of it this time around.
* {{Expy}}: Of the Demon King Piccolo. They're both evil Namekians who used the Dragon Balls to regain their youth. He was also sent away from Namek to save his life when the weather changed, just like the Nameless Namek who became Piccolo. Lastly, they're both demonic conquerors with alien origins that want to turn the Earth into a world fit for them and their demon clan brethren.
** In terms of his role and power, he's very similar to Frieza (big spaceship, {{Mooks}}, QuirkyMinibossSquad, alien invader, planet-jacker, OrcusOnHisThrone, fought by a Super Saiyan), who was the villain at the time of his film.
** He's also somewhat similar to Turles, at least superficially. Both are space pirates of an established race who have the goal of exploiting the planet, and they both get killed by a Spirit Bomb.
* EyeBeams: A stock Namekian technique, which Slug uses in both his normal and giant forms.
* FlatCharacter: One of the worst examples of Dragon Ball Z's movie villains. Lord Slug is an EvilOverlord whose plan appears to be going planet to planet hidden inside a frozen meteorite, kill all the inhabitants, and then freeze the planet to use it as another meteor to hide in. Why is he doing this? What is his endgoal? We certainly don't know.
* FountainOfYouth: He summons Shenron to gain eternal youth as King Piccolo did.
* FunctionalAddict: As an old Namekian Slug is seen chowing down on some sort of pills, basically wolfing them down like candy. What kind of pills they are or what they do is never really established, and made moot when he restores his youth not too long after. Notably, this is the only known occasion of a Namekian (a race that traditionally survives by photosynthesis) consuming anything solid.
* GreenAndMean: Being a Namekian, he has green skin, and he's about as mean as they get.
* HealThyself: He possesses the same regeneration ability as Piccolo Jr. and Nail. He actually shocks Goku out of his Pseudo Super Saiyan state when he cuts off his own arm after it is broken before growing another.
* MakeMyMonsterGrow: The same ability Piccolo Jr displayed, to an even greater extent. Still seemingly has the same weakness as Piccolo Jr though, as it doesn't seem to actually increase his power level and instead takes away from the energy that could be used for regenerating if he does end up hurt while also making him a bigger target.
* MotiveDecay: Played with in ''Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans'', where it certainly looks like Slug has gone from a generic EvilOverlord with galactic conquest on the mind to an EliteMook vowing to make Vegeta, a man he has never met, pay for his past sins. [[spoiler:The twist is that this Slug is a Ghost Warrior and not the real Slug, explaining his seeming motive degeneration]].
* MultipleChoicePast: Let's just say his backstory relating to his existence as a Namekian is different between various versions. The Japanese version had him being sent away from Namek as a baby during its cataclysmic climate shift (similar to the Namekian who would become Piccolo and Kami), and the English version implies that he is the [[LastOfHisKind last of a group of Super Nameks]] who were exiled from Namek via the Namekian Dragon Balls due to misuse of their power.
* RubberMan: Another stock Namekian ability that Slug wields.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: To King Piccolo, a BadBoss elderly Namekian who has the intent to conquer the Earth and uses the Dragon Balls to wish for youth
* ThemeNaming: As with the other Namekians (minus Piccolo), he's named after a gastropod.
* WeaksauceWeakness: Weakened by Gohan's ''whistling'' since Namekians have highly sensitive ears.
* WorldsStrongestMan: His giant form is stated by King Kai to be far stronger than Frieza and stronger than Super Saiyan Goku, which makes him an absolute powerhouse for the era. The heroes need to use his WeaksauceWeakness in combination with a [[https://www.kanzenshuu.com/rumor/goku-kaio-ken-x100/ x100 Kaio-ken]] (twice the boost of Super Saiyan) ''and'' a Spirit Bomb to take him down.
* VillainTeamUp: More or less forced into one when Towa and Mira recruit him to work with Turles in ''Xenoverse 2''. He's not really happy about it, except that it allows him the chance for that time-honored DBZ villain motivation: Revenge.

* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: All three of them.
** Salza's skin tone is blue, which appears to be standard for their race.
** Doore has green skin, and in ''Dragon Ball Z III: Ressen Jinzōningen'' weaker members of his race appear with [[PaletteSwap yellow and teal skin]].
** Neiz has brown skin, and in ''Ressen Jinzōningen'' weaker members of his race appear with [[PaletteSwap blue and green skin]].
* {{Camp}}: They are very flamboyant, but not to the same extent as the Ginyu Force.
* TheDreaded: ''Xenoverse 2'' establishes them as this, as Dodoria knows they are each stronger than any member of the Ginyu Force and fears them for it.
* EdibleThemeNaming: The team has a theme of condiments and salad dressings:
** Salza's Japanese name, Sauzer, and one of his alternate names, Thouser, are a pun on the "Thousand Island" salad dressing. In the Funimation dub, his name is a reference to the Spanish word for sauce, "Salsa".
** Dore's name was lifted from Sara"dore" dressing.
** Neiz's name comes from mayonnaise.
* {{Expy}}: Since Cooler is a Frieza expy, the Armored Squadron is his Ginyu Force analogue.
* FashionableAsymmetry: Each one of them has only a left shoulder pad.
* OutOfCharacterMoment: If any of them face their boss in ''Raging Blast 2'' their UndyingLoyalty will be replaced with a sudden desire to become TheStarscream.
* PurpleIsPowerful: All of them wear purple, Salza and Neiz have purple blood, and Salza's energy blade is also purple.
* TerribleTrio: [[WebVideo/DragonBallZAbridged Quoting a well-known parody series]], the Armored Squadron is a trio formed by the {{Bishonen}} [[TheDragon Dragon]], TheBrute, and the guy with the weird powers.
* TheOneThatGotAway: Non-romantic example, as in ''Xenoverse 2'' Cooler reveals that Captain Ginyu is the only one of Frieza's subordinates that he respects and that he tried to recruit him to the Armored Squadron, without success. Notably, this clashes with ''Budokai Tenkaichi 3'', in which it is stated that Ginyu and Salza competed against each other for the spot of Armored Squadron leader.
* UndyingLoyalty: They're all fiercely loyal to Cooler.

'''Voiced by (Latin American Spanish):''' Enrique Mederos

The pretty boy and leader of the Armored Squadron, also Cooler's personal top dog.
----
* AlienBlood: It's purple.
* TheCameo: Appears along the rest of the reborn villains in ''Anime/DragonBallZFusionReborn'', with a different armor color.
* TheDragon: As well as being the leader of the Armored Squadron, he also seems to be this to Cooler in general. In the "Beautiful Treachery" what-if tale from ''Budokai Tenkaichi 2'', he is Cooler's representative and counterpart to Zarbon.
* DragonTheirFeet: He actually manages to outlive his boss, at least by a few minutes, as he emerges from the rubble after Cooler's defeat only to be blasted and finally killed by Piccolo.
* EvilGenius: Apparently he's the smartest member of his race. This is borne out in ''Dragon Ball Z III: Ressen Jinzōningen'', where he's the one to figure out who Bulma is and what a Dragon Radar is.
* {{Expy}}: He is a Jeice analogue. Similar to Cooler, he is related to Jeice, with at least some magazines saying they are from the same planet.
* FantasticRacist: Like most members of the Frieza Forces, Salza holds a dim view of Saiyans and refers to their planet as a "monkey farm".
* FrenchJerk: In the English dub, he is given a French accent with a slightly effeminate tone, just like how Jeice is given an Australian accent for some reason. His effeminate tone is probably to mirror Zarbon's.
* FunnyBackgroundEvent: When Dore interrogates Gohan, Salza can be seen in the background chowing down on the soup that was just brewing over the campfire.
* HeavyWorlder: He comes from a planet with high gravity, much like the Saiyans.
* JackOfAllStats: While Dore is the strongest and Neiz the fastest, Salza maintains a balance between speed and strength, while also being by far the most intelligent and skilled of the three.
* LaserBlade: He is the first character to do an energy blade in the franchise, predating Vegito, Goku Black, and Zamasu by many years, in the latter two cases, decades. This is expanded in fighting games where this is his main gimmick.
* MysteriousPast: His past is never explored in his film, but [[AllThereInTheManual supplementary material]] establishes him as being from the same planet as Jeice of the Ginyu Force.
* {{Omniglot}}: AllThereInTheManual establishes that he is capable of speaking ''7,000'' different languages.
* TheRival: In ''Budokai Tenkaichi 3'' and ''Raging Blast 2'', Jeice is set up as one of these to him.
--> '''Jeice''': We're gonna settle this once and for all!
--> '''Salza''': It's over for you.
* SecretKeeper: He's one of the few people in the universe who has seen Ginyu's true form. Yet another case of AllThereInTheManual.
* WeakButSkilled: He's not as strong as his teammate Dore and seems to have a bit of a glass jaw, but he's easily the most skilled of the Armored Squadron, putting up the best fight against Piccolo and even managing to briefly outlive his boss.

The muscle of Cooler’s armored squadron.
---------
* AlmightyJanitor: He is ranked below Salza, but according to supplementary material his power level is higher.
* BloodKnight: See above. He killed all 300 of his opponents as a wrestler in the Galactic League. His supplementary material also notes that he has a bloodthirsty personality.
* TheBrute: The strongest and most vicious of the squadron.
* {{Expy}}:
** Could be seen as an analogue to Recoome as both are the most muscular of their team and both are incredibly cocky and confident in their abilities.
** As a green-skinned humanoid (with black hair and purple underwear, even) who primarily fights with physical strength rather than energy abilities, he can also be seen as a downplayed one of these to the [[ComicBook/TheIncredibleHulk Hulk]].
* ForgetfulJones: He apparently forgot that Namek had been destroyed, as he asks why Piccolo isn't on Namek instead of Earth, only for Neiz to remind him that Frieza blew it up.
* GreenAndMean: See above. His skin is Hulk green and he has the attitude to match.
* MysteriousPast: His past is never explored in his film, but [[AllThereInTheManual supplementary material]] establishes him as a wrestler from a LethalLavaLand planet who went undefeated in 300 matches and killed all his opponents before he joined the Armored Squadron.
* TheRival: In ''Xenoverse 2'', talking to Recoome reveals that the strongman Ginyu sees Dore as this, and wants to beat him to prove that his muscles are "the best in the galaxy".
* SmarterThanYouLook: He acts like a witless thug but he's sharper than he gets credit for. He realizes right away that the bag Gohan is carrying must be important, and notes while blasting away a countryside looking for Goku that attention to detail is the reason why the Armored Squad is the best military unit in the Frieza Force. Further, in ''Raging Blast 2'' he's the only Armored Squadron member to realize that Meta-Cooler is "not the same Cooler", in his words. That said, he does seem to be forgetful.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: He's also been referred to as "Doore" and "Doray", depending on the adaptation.
* UnderwearOfPower: Wears something akin to a purple speedo.
* UnskilledButStrong: He's the strongest member of the Squad but seems to have the least fighting skill, as Piccolo dominates him easily. Though, it should be noted that Piccolo is a powerful ranged fighter, just the type a predominantly physical fighter like Dore would have trouble with.
* VillainousBreakdown: If he'd just grabbed Gohan and used him as a meat shield, he could have avoided being incinerated by Piccolo's blast. Instead, he flies right past him in a panic, and very shortly after is killed.
* WorldsBestWarrior: Supplementary material gives his power level as 185000, which would be even higher than Great Ape Vegeta or Ginyu Force Saga base Kaio-ken Goku, easily making him the strongest Frieza Force soldier until ''Super''.
* WouldHurtAChild: He grabs Gohan and threatens to cave his skull in with his bare hand.
* WrestlerInAllOfUs: He was a wrestler before joining Cooler and his fighting style incorporates many grabs and holds.

!!Neiz (ネイズ, ''Neizu'')

The FragileSpeedster of Cooler's Armored Squadron.
-------
* AlienAbduction: He's the one who kidnaps Bulma in ''Dragon Ball Z III: Ressen Jinzōningen'', forcing Vegeta to fight him (and other members of his race) to rescue her.
* AlienBlood: Purple. Seen when Piccolo hits both him and Salza hard enough to make purple blood come out of their mouths.
* BizarreAlienBiology: He is somehow an amphibian despite coming from a planet that is 100% water, he can retract his head into his neck, and he can create an electrical charge from his body.
%%* ElementalRockPaperScissors: Anyone who's played ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'' will understand immediately why his own attack killed him.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: He's very mad when Dore is killed, telling Piccolo "You're dead!"
* {{Expy}}: Seems to be an analogue to Burter in terms of personality and appearance.
* FragileSpeedster: All it takes is Piccolo reflecting his own specialty technique back on him to kill him.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Piccolo turns his own energy attack back on him, killing him.
* ImAHumanitarian: Mentions wanting to eat Piccolo and Gohan in the American dub.
* LightningBruiser: The fastest of the three according to his background information, and while he's also the weakest, his power level is 163000, which is still much higher than Captain Ginyu's.
* MysteriousPast: His past is never explored in the film, and while it isn't given as much elaboration as Salza's or Dore's, [[AllThereInTheManual supplementary material]] does reveal a bit about him. He's from a planet that's completely UnderTheSea, and his race evolved from amphibians.
* TheParalyzer: His specialty technique, the Neiz Bind Wave, paralyzes its victims.
* PsychoElectro: His attacks are primarily electrical and he has the unstable personality to go with it.
* ReptilesAreAbhorrent: His character design seems to be meant to evoke this, as AllThereInTheManual establishes him as an amphibious being but he retracts his head like a turtle.
* RequiredSecondaryPowers: His lack of them is what leads to his death, as while he can use electric attacks freely, he is also very vulnerable to them (presumably because of his amphibious physiology). When Piccolo turns his own Neiz Bind Wave back on him, he's not just paralyzed but completely fried by it.
* RetractableAppendages: Is shown retracting his head in his body to dodge an attack.
* ShockAndAwe: One of his attacks is to fire pink electricity.
* SuperSpeed: According to ''Shonen Jump'' he prides himself on his speed, much like Burter.

* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Has dark purple skin.
* BigGuyLittleGuy: The little guy to Android 14's big guy.
* BrainInAJar: Similar to Android 19, Android 15's electromechanical brain is protected by a glass dome.
* CharacterTics: Despite being a fully mechanical android, he carries a flask of... ''something'', that he continuously uncorks and takes swigs from.
* TheComicallySerious: He rarely talks in the Japanese version, but has stoically annoyed reactions to Android 14's braid getting in his face and repeatedly falling into the snow.
* CoolShades: Wears a pair of shades that cover his mechanical eyes.
* FlatCharacter: Doesn’t have much of a personality in the original version. The English dub gave him a bit of a gangster accent.
* OffhandBackhand: On the receiving end of one courtesy of Android 16 in one of the ''Dragon Ball Heroes'' intros.
%%* OffWithHisHead: How he meets his end.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: About half of Vegeta's size, but can give him a tough fight even when the latter's a Super Saiyan.
* SharpDressedMan: Somewhat noteworthy for being the only android dressed in an outfit approaching formal wear, complete with a giant Red Ribbon bowtie.
%%* SingleStrokeBattle: Gets into one with Vegeta.
* SoLastSeason: Vegeta defeats him with minimal difficulty upon going Super Saiyan, in stark contrast to his experience against Android 18.

Another Android that was created by Gero and completed by his computer long after his death. As with nearly all of Gero's androids, he only has one objective: kill Goku.
----
* ThirteenIsUnlucky: Invokes this in the American dub, though his original Japanese incarnation subverts this as 13 is not a particularly superstitious number in their culture.
* AIIsACrapshoot: Inverted. He does what he's programmed to do: try to kill Goku, even though he'd rather not.
* AlwaysAccurateAttack: His S.S. Deadly Bomber which tracks its target like a heat-seeking missile.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: In the Xenoverse games, Android 13 can use Data Input to analyze an enemy's fighting style and effortlessly dodge melee attacks to a level comparable to "Autonomous Ultra Instinct".
* BadBoss: He absorbs the core components of his two henchmen to achieve his perfect form, and in ''Raging Blast 2'' if confronted by one or the other (both of whom demand their parts back) his response is to chuckle wickedly.
* CannibalismSuperpower: He absorbs the parts from Androids 14 and 15, becoming much stronger as a result.
* CombatPragmatist: When he fights Goku, one of the first things he does is draw the fight underwater, where Goku is at a distinct disadvantage due to needing to breathe, unlike his android opponent. Then in his Super form, he directly goes to [[GroinAttack punch Goku in the groin]] with his free arm (his other arm was grabbing his leg). Poor Goten might have not been created had Goku not pulled through that one.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: In the American dub only. In an attempt to give him something resembling characterization, he (somewhat randomly) launches into a little tirade on TheEvilsOfFreeWill:
--> '''Android 13:''' "Free will". Pitiful humans! War, segregation, hatred! Is ''that'' what you've done with your free will, boy? Don't you lecture me with your thirty-dollar haircut, Goku dies!
%%* EvilRedhead: In his super mode.
* {{Expy}}:
** Of Cell, who gains a SuperMode by absorbing two fellow Androids.
** He is also strangely one of these to Android 16, though only in the American dub, as both are the strongest androids of their respective generations and both seem to have a strong affinity with nature.
* FlatCharacter: Originally, his only defining trait is wanting to kill Goku, just like his two companions. The dub subverts this a bit, giving him a southern accent and a belief that HumansAreTheRealMonsters and TheEvilsOfFreeWill. Supplemental materials expand on him a bit more, especially ''Legends''.
* FlawedPrototype: Of later android models (though most specifically Cell). The results are his base form is less powerful than Androids 16/17/& 18, and while Super Form makes him more powerful than most of his successors, it is less powerful than Cell's later Super Forms (roughly equal to slightly more powerful than Semi-Perfect Cell). While his ability to absorb the power of other androids is similar to Cell's own, he lacks Androids 19/20/Cell's ability to absorb power from organic beings. Lastly, as a purely robotic android, he lacks the regenerative capabilities of Cell.
** Specifically lampshaded by Cell in the Xenoverse games.
* GroinAttack: One strong enough to knock a Super Saiyan back to their normal state.
* TheJuggernaut: This better explains his transformed state. He's bulky, presumably gets some sort of chest armor, and shrugs off the attacks of Vegeta, Trunks, Goku, Gohan, Krillin and, Piccolo.
* TheLeader: Specifically designed to be the "leader unit" to his generation of androids. 14 and 15 both follow his commands without question.
* HomingProjectile: The S.S. Deadly Bomber, which is his signature technique. Once launched it homes in on its target unerringly.
* NoSell: Once he powers up to his super form, he does this to pretty much EVERYTHING the Z-Fighters can throw at him. This was until Goku (in his super saiyan form) formed a Spirit Bomb and absorbed it, powering himself up & managing to OneHitKill Android 13.
* PlanetDestroyer: It is stated in the original Japanese airing that his S.S. Deadly Bomber is capable of destroying half a planet.
* PowerupFullColorChange: After absorbing the components of Androids #14 and #15, Android #13's skin turns blue with grey areas on his shoulders, stomach, chest, and back. [[PowerDyesYourHair His hair also changes from white to orange]].
* PunchPunchPunchUhOh: Vegeta, Piccolo and Goku in the same five minutes. Apparently, it took them a while to realize it wasn't working. Vegeta got body-slammed, Piccolo got blasted, and Goku...well, see above.
* SignatureHeadgear: Wears a trucker hat when he first shows up to complete the American look and serves as a basis for his [[DubPersonalityChange personality in the English localization]]. Although, it falls off at one point when Goku attacks him and is then never seen again.
* SouthernFriedGenius: He's given a pretty heavy southern accent in the dub, and he's fairly smart if his views on humanity and pragmatism has anything to say.
%%* SuperMode: After absorbing parts from Androids 14 and 15.
* SuperToughness: Especially true when transformed. In the movie, nobody could ever deal actual damage to him, only hold him back. The only time he was truly hurt was the same tactic that killed him: Goku absorbing the Spirit Bomb as a Super Saiyan.
%%* TerribleTrio: Forms one with Androids 14 and 15.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: He wears a thin vest with no shirt underneath.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Has pale white hair and literally no heart at all.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: He becomes a lot more unhinged after going into his super mode.

-->''"Watch closely Vegeta, because massacres like this are rarely seen even by Saiyan eyes."''

The father of Broly. A noble Saiyan warrior, Paragus was ordered to be executed with his son when King Vegeta decided Broly was a threat, but they both survived their executions. Though still an infant, Broly's power awakened and saved both him and his father from Planet Vegeta's destruction shortly thereafter. Broly's incredible power made him uncontrollable and violent, to the point of gouging out one of his father's eyes; Paragus then had a mind-control device created to keep his son docile.

Years later, Paragus hatched a plan to build his own empire and gain revenge on the king's son, Prince Vegeta, by luring him to a planet about to be destroyed by a comet. Unfortunately for Paragus, Vegeta brought along Goku, whose hated presence snaps Broly out of his brainwashing. Just as Paragus tried to escape his son's wrath, Broly caught him and killed him.

Like his son, Paragus was reinvented for ''Anime/DragonBallSuperBroly''. For any tropes about him, see [[Characters/DragonBallSaiyans here]].
----
* AmbitionIsEvil: Combines this with SinsOfOurFathers, as he wants to take revenge on Vegeta and then claim Earth as the capital planet of his and Broly's new Saiyan empire.
* AssholeVictim: Being murdered by your own son is cruel, but Paragus did brainwash Broly and used him as a living weapon for at least a decade. He was also going to leave his son to die on the planet. So, it's hard to feel too sorry for him.
* BadBoss: He doesn't seem to think much of any of the beings that serve under him. The Shamoians he works like dogs, he rants at the inventor of his SlaveCollar device to "fix it" despite said inventor telling him the device is in working order, and the only time he shows any fighting ability it's to execute an underling, presumably to keep him from spilling the beans after a JustBetweenYouAndMe conversation.
%%* BadassCape: Like Turles, he wears a long white one.
* BatmanCanBreatheInSpace: Flashbacks in his original movie show him and Broly talking and breathing just fine in space.
* BlatantLies: In a desperate attempt to save himself from Broly, he tells him that he's preparing a rocket so that they can both escape Comet Camori, despite clearly being in an escape pod meant for one passenger. Broly isn't convinced for one second.
** He also Blatantly Lies to the heroes by telling them that Broly is a weakling with less power than even himself. Notably, he tries sliding this one by them even ''after'' Broly's midnight rampage. Goku doesn't even dignify it with a response.
* BreakThemByTalking: He notably ''breaks Vegeta'' by talking, though with more than a little help from Broly's overwhelming Saiyan power. He actually spends a good portion of the latter half of the film just gloating to Vegeta, all while the rest of the Z-Fighters get pounded on by Broly.
* TheCameo: He briefly appears alongside the revived villains in ''Anime/DragonBallZFusionReborn'', and ironically, seemed to be following his race's mortal enemy Frieza.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: Broly crushes him to death inside his own Attack Ball, not even quickly but slowly enough that he has enough time to soliloquize about the absurdity of his end, before throwing him ''still alive'' into a comet. In a series where most deaths are people exploding or obliterated with energy blasts, the cruel and unusual nature of Paragus's death stands out.
* DarkIsEvil: In the video game ''Super Dragonball Heroes'' he trades out his usual LightIsNotGood look for this, due to being powered up by the villainous duo of Mira and Towa.
* DeathByIrony: He tries to escape the planet on his own out of fear of being killed, either by Broly or by the comet heading to destroy the planet they're on. He ends up dying when Broly crushes his spaceship and throws it into the incoming comet.
* DirtyCoward: He stays well out of the brawl between his son and the Z-Fighters, and later tries running for it to save his own skin. Keyword: "tries".
* TheDogBitesBack: After years of brainwashing, Broly crushes Paragus's escape pod while he's still in it.
* DubText: When Paragus abandons Broly after losing control of him, the original Japanese soliloquy delivered by Creator/IemasaKayumi was one of reluctant sadness and regret. [[note]]"Soon the meteor will arrive to destroy New Vegeta; I'm sorry that you have to die like this, my boy; but now that you are out of control, it is the only way the universe won't be destroyed."[[/note]] The English version, however, painted quite a different picture from the Japanese version, making Paragus seem like a jerk who never loved Broly in the first place. This notably contradicts earlier scenes of Paragus, such as him risking his life defying King Vegeta to protect his baby boy.
* EdibleThemeNaming: As Saiyan tradition, his name is based on a vegetable. In this case, his name is one letter short of "asparagus."
* EyeScream: Broly gouged out one of his eyes out during one of his rampages.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: There's nothing particularly remarkable about Paragus, and it's not even clear if he's among the ten or so elite Saiyans like Nappa or if he's just a low-class warrior no different than Bardock. But regardless of his origins, his son is the Legendary Super Saiyan.
* JustBetweenYouAndMe: Shares one of these with his henchman Moah, giving away the secret of the giant comet headed their way. Later he graduates to full-blown MotiveRant.
* InfectiousInsanity: Paragus was a relatively normal Saiyan with more empathy than most before his son was born. When his son was proven to be abnormally strong, King Vegeta tried to have them both murdered so they wouldn't challenge his Throne. Broly more or less went insane from the combination of his first memory of Goku crying, almost being executed, having to escape Frieza blowing up the planet, and from his own unbelievable strength and sense of superiority that came with it. After years of raising a son that would occasionally hurt or even try to kill him, Paragus started to lose it. As Broly was the only person he had left, he couldn't abandon him, but the danger he posed to Paragus and the universe backed Paragus into a corner. As he tried to put on the crown to control Broly, his son woke up dazed and confused and childishly called after his father. They got into a struggle and Paragus got the crown on, but Broly had worked himself into a frenzy and almost killed Paragus yet again before the crown took over. Paragus was relieved but saddened by having to do this to his son. Yet as time went on, he went mad with power now that he controlled his son similar to how the power drove Broly insane.
* InsignificantLittleBluePlanet: Notably subverted in the dub. While it's ultimately revealed just like in the Japanese version that Paragus luring Vegeta to "New Vegeta" was a ploy to stall him long enough for the incoming meteorite to obliterate him, the dub also adds intentions for Earth in Paragus' plan. Unlike previous villains like Frieza and King Cold who sneer at Earth, Paragus considers it "a lush, green, healthy planet, the most beautiful planet in the cosmos!" and even goes so far as to lure its protectors far away from it because he doesn't want it to be damaged in battle, fully intending to conquer it as his throne seat once Vegeta and the others are gotten rid of.
* JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope: He initially had no villainous intentions when putting the mind-control device on Broly, as he was trying to save ''everyone'' from Broly's destructive insanity, including Broly himself. But when he realized that now his son could be used as a potential weapon to satisfy his own thirst for vengeance, Paragus threw all morals out the window.
* KickTheDog: Ironically, the only person he was ever shown "fighting" was one of his own henchmen. While this proved that he can fight to an extent, it also showed that he wasn't capable of doing much with that strength aside from being a BadBoss.
* LightIsNotGood: Dressed in a white cape, sporting a damaged eye, introducing himself as a humble servant of Vegeta, and presenting Vegeta a new planet to rule over as its king and restart the Saiyan race -- just as soon as he defeated a "Legendary Super Saiyan". His true intentions are to leave Vegeta stranded on this planet, which is a complete ruin beyond the supposed palace city and is about to be bombed by a comet so that he can restart Saiyan dominance for himself on Earth and rule over it with his son as his instrument of power.
* ManipulativeBastard: He's actually somewhat clever in the way he goes about manipulating Vegeta's ego to get him to come to his trap planet. Having served under King Vegeta for some time, he's probably familiar with how both him and his son think.
* MotiveRant: After it becomes clear that lying to Vegeta is no longer an option Paragus abandons all notions of restraint, launching into one of these with all the vehemence of a man who has spent days pandering to people he utterly loathes. He spares no detail of his EvilPlan, figuring there's nothing Vegeta or his friends can do to stop him at that point.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Subverted. He actually looks his age despite Saiyans retaining their youth until they hit 80. This implies that he is ''at least'' 80 years old, and probably older.
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: A subdued version, as he is actually more cerebral and calculating than most Saiyans. But he clearly subscribes to the "might makes right" Saiyan attitude, and he's very proud of his son being the Legendary Super Saiyan, despite ''also'' being utterly terrified of him.
* RewardedAsATraitorDeserves: He tries to abandon his son to die, only to be crushed to death in the very pod he's trying to make his escape in.
* RevengeBeforeReason: Subverted, as he crafts a plan which actually ties his revenge ''into'' his reason: by luring the Z-Fighters to New Planet Vegeta and wiping them out with Comet Camori, he both takes his revenge on the Vegeta family and tidily gets rid of all the fighters capable of stopping him and Broly from claiming Earth.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Tries to leave New Vegeta before Broly destroys it but gets caught.
* SicklyGreenGlow: Like his son, his energy attacks (that we see him use all of once) have this color.
* SinkTheLifeboats: Paragus tries to use his EscapePod to flee from his rampaging son Broly, and from the comet about to collide with the planet he had previously lured the Z-Fighters to. Unfortunately for him, Broly catches up to him, [[SelfMadeOrphan crushes the pod with his bare hands]], and throws the remains into the comet.
* SinsOfOurFathers: Paragus tries to exact revenge on Vegeta for his father's ruthless attempt to kill both his son Broly and himself.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Alternately "Baragus" or "Paragas".
* SurveillanceAsThePlotDemands: He's capable of this to the point of creating a PlotHole, as he knows who Trunks is despite Trunks being ''from the future'' and his present-day counterpart still being just as baby.
* TakeOverTheWorld: He plans to conquer Earth because... well, it has nice scenery and a good location, or something.
* TragicVillain: Had King Vegeta ''not'' ordered the execution of Broly, both he and Paragus would have ''still'' likely escaped Frieza's genocide of their race, ''sane and untraumatized.'' And Paragus, being (by Saiyan standards) a loving father, would have raised a happy and talented little boy into a prodigy warrior not unlike Kakarot.
* UnderwearOfPower: Wears black briefs under his armor, like many Saiyans.
* WeakButSkilled: Paragus ranks among the weakest of Saiyans and doesn't even try to play in the same class as Broly, Goku or Vegeta. But he's far more cunning than the average Saiyan, avoiding the attention of Frieza completely for almost 30 years while using his son Broly to survive and later conquer. He's also tougher than one might expect, surviving King Vegeta's Execution Beam and likely gaining a power boost from the near-death experience as Saiyans do.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Played with -- Paragus can ''come off'' as this due to having enslaved his son in an effort to control him, a noble gesture on the face of it as Broly is capable of destroying entire solar systems when left unchecked. After his Motive Rant to the Z-Fighters, however, it is revealed that his primary motivation for doing so is to let what remained of the Vegeta Dynasty suffer as he and his son did, and it would be easier to keep Broly focused on that goal if he were kept on a leash, so to speak. The dub unnecessarily made Universal Conquest his ''primary'' motivation, lessening the tragedy of King Vegeta's transgressions on his family.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: After losing control of Broly he decides to cut his losses and leave his son to die, though he is shown to have at least a slight pang of remorse for the act. Regardless of which, Broly catches up to him and [[KarmicDeath kills him before he can make his escape]].
** He also does this to his henchmen Moah after the poor creature expresses its fear of the giant comet currently headed their way.

-->''"SAI... YAN!"''

A being from the video game ''Dragon Ball Z Gaiden: Saiyajin Zetsumetsu Keikaku'', which was later adapted into the OVA ''[[Anime/DragonBallPlanToEradicateTheSaiyans Plan to Eradicate All Saiyans]]''. A supercomputer created by Dr. Raichi to enact revenge against the Saiyans as he a Tuffle, a race that inhabited the planet that would become Planet Vegeta after the Saiyans took it over.
----
* BrainMonster: The Hatchiyack machine itself has an appearance that evokes this, as it looks roughly like a giant brain with two red eyes.
* DyingCurse: Hatchiyack is literally Dr. Lychee's Dying Curse on the Saiyan race.
* EvilCounterpart: A strange example as the character he's a counterpart to is not exactly a hero, but Hatchiyack is basically the Tuffle version of Broly. Huge, overpowering and both given to bouts of SayMyName.
* EvilIsBigger: Hatchiyack is roughly the size of King Cold or Broly in his Legendary Super Saiyan form.
* EvilSoundsDeep: His original Japanese voice especially, though all versions of his voice qualify.
* FatalFlaw: Hatchiyack is very strong, and can withstand plenty of blows and blasts. However, it won't work when he is either caught off guard or charging his ultimate technique, the Revenger Cannon. This technique in particular has an absurdly-long 15-second countdown, which Goku quickly realizes and exploits.
* FusionDance: In ''Dragon Ball Heroes'' he fuses with Bebi to become Bebi Hatchiyack.
* ImplacableMan: All Hatchiyack cares about is killing Saiyans, and it will stop at nothing to kill all of them.
* TheJuggernaut: Much like Broly, Hatchiyack is pretty much a tank on wheels even by the standards of the Dragon Ball universe.
* KillerRobot: Seems to be one of these, though unlike the androids of Dr. Gero it manifests ki which can be sensed, implying it is something closer to an artificial lifeform like Cell.
* MakeMyMonsterGrow: Hatchiyack has a Giant Form that he can use in one of the original versions of the Playdia OVA game. This happens in one of the endings and Goku had to go inside him and blast his 'core' to defeat him.
* TheManBehindTheMan: Lychee initially appears to be the mastermind behind Hatchiyack, but it is eventually revealed that the real Lychee died decades ago, and the one seen in the present day is just an artificial phantom generated by Hatchiyack to stall the heroes while it collects the remaining hate energy needed to manifest its battle body.
* OneWingedAngel: The Hatchiyack that the Z-Fighters fight is technically one of these, as the ''actual'' Hatchiyack is an immobile computer that transforms into its red battle body form after absorbing enough hate energy. And in one of the Playdia endings, it is capable of ''another'' transformation, transforming into an even more powered-up form with ShouldersOfDoom.
* ThePowerOfHate: He is literally powered by hate energy.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Hatchiyack is not a villain for grand schemes or subtle plots. It wants to destroy Saiyans, and luckily for it most of the surviving Saiyans in the universe have gathered themselves in one place. It even has a technique called the Revenger Cannon which it calls by saying (you guessed it), "Revenge!".
* SayMyName: His dialogue leaves something to be desired in terms of variation: in ''Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2'' you'll either get "Revenge!" or some exclamation of "Saiyan/Saiyans!" depending on whether or not he's fighting a Saiyan. He's almost as bad as Broly with his "Kakarot!"
* SelfDuplication: in one of the OVA video game's alternate endings, Hatchiyack was shown to be able to make multiple copies of himself, something akin to the series' Multi-Form Technique.
* SicklyGreenGlow: When charging its Revenger Cannon, in yet another parallel with Broly.
* SoLastSeason: Stated to have the same power level as Broly (more specifically his Movie 8 incarnation), the heroes have an easier time with him presumably because they since got stronger after their fight with Broly. They still have a lot of trouble though as one ending requires a Spirit Bomb and the other requires taking advantage of its ArtificialStupidity.
* SuperMode: In one of the endings to the original OVA game, Hatchiyack activates a Super Form to gain an edge on the heroes. This is when Goku has to use what's called an Instant Spirit Bomb to kill him.
* ThemeNaming: An alternative reading of the first two Chinese characters in ''yaoya'', which is a shop that sells -- you guessed it -- fruits and vegetables.
* VillainTeamUp: In the latest mission of ''Dragon Ball Heroes,'' the Demon Towa summons Hatchiyack to assist Baby in allowing him to willingly take over his body, fusing them into Baby Hatchiyack to fight Goku and friends. In a previous mission, Babidi turned him while in his Super Mode into a "King of Destruction" type Majin along with plenty of other villains.
* TheVoiceless: In the original OVA. Averted in exactly one of the game cutscenes and in the 2010 remake, which gave him a few generic lines (such as "I-Impossible!" when he is defeated).
* YellowEyesOfSneakiness: Subverted, as he has pupil-less yellow eyes but is about the furthest thing from 'sneaky' imaginable.

-->''"We Tuffles tried to help the Saiyans. And all they gave us in return was death and destruction. I will never forgive Saiyans for what they did to us, even if God does!"''

The last of the Tuffles and one of the main antagonists of the video game ''Dragon Ball Z Gaiden: Saiyajin Zetsumetsu Keikaku'', which was later adapted into the OVA ''[[Anime/DragonBallPlanToEradicateTheSaiyans Plan to Eradicate All Saiyans]]''.
----
* AccuserOfTheBrethren: He doesn't care that Goku is apologetic for what the Saiyans did to his people, and says that he will never forgive the Saiyans even if the gods themselves do.
* AllYourPowersCombined: In the game, he has all the techniques of the Ghost Warriors before him, though this is cut from the anime as his only technique there is a barrier.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: His skin is blue. This is notable for being an early clue that he is actually a Ghost Warrior himself, as the Tuffles were shown to be of similar color and pigmentation to the Saiyans.
* BarrierWarrior: Required a Super Saiyan or a bunch of Super Saiyans to break. In ''Dragon Ball Heroes,'' his Super Attack has him [[ShieldBash use it while charging into an opponent]].
* BestServedCold: Due to Hatchiyack taking decades to gather enough hate energy to resurrect him as a Ghost Warrior.
* DarkIsEvil: The planet he takes Hatchiyack to is referred to only as the "Dark Planet", and of course, it's a grim and lifeless world that lives up to the name.
* DeadAllAlong: As it turns out, Raichi was killed in an attempt to escape from the Saiyans; the Raichi the Z-Fighters meet is just another Ghost Warrior created by Hatchiyack.
* EvilGenius: Let's be honest, anyone who comes up with the idea of creating a machine specifically to harness ''hate'' probably wasn't all that nice a guy even before the Saiyans wiped out his race.
* {{Expy}}: Of Dr. Gero. Both Evil Geniuses, both utterly obsessed with revenge, and he even kind of looks like him.
* TheFarmerAndTheViper: Invokes this trope when meeting the Z-Fighters, as he claims his people tried to help the Saiyans and were only given death and destruction for their efforts. It should be noted, however, that this account isn't exactly backed up by what we see in flashbacks: while the Saiyans ''did'' make war on the Tuffles (and ultimately wiped them out), they were shown as living in primitive conditions prior to King Vegeta's war, implying that the Tuffles weren't quite as generous to the invaders as Lychee paints them as being.
* LazyBum: Similar to the instance of BarrierWarrior, most appearances he has made outside of ''Dragon Ball Z Gaiden: Saiyajin Zetsumetsu Keikaku'' show that he constantly resorts to his barrier in combat. This could also be his FatalFlaw. The mentioned video game is the only time he is shown to use other moves, such as those from Frieza, Cooler, Slug, Turles, and even has his own ultimate technique.
* MadnessMantra: In the original OVA only, there's a scene where Lychee regenerates after being destroyed by Vegeta's Final Flash, only for Vegeta to destroy him a second time by blasting him before he can fully raise his barrier. This makes Lychee explode in a shower of light, with a single glowing piece of him falling at the ground by Vegeta's feet. This piece manifests a tiny screaming face that chants "Damn Saiyans!" over and over again until Vegeta squashes it.
* MyDeathIsJustTheBeginning: As noted above, Lychee is actually dead, and has been for quite some time. However, he did manage to get Hatchiyack off Planet Vegeta before succumbing to his injuries, making his death this.
* OutsideContextProblem: Lychee is notably this, not because of Hatchiyack or the Ghost Warriors, but because of his Destron Gas, which is a type of threat the Z-Fighters had notably never encountered before (and notably have not encountered since). In a universe where everyone's response to everything is an overwhelming force, who saw a DeadlyGas specifically create to weaken such warriors coming?
* PowerFloats: Notably, his feet ''never'' touch the ground.
* RevengeBeforeReason: Like Baby of ''Anime/DragonBallGT'' fame, it makes no difference to Raichi that the Saiyans who actually slaughtered his race are long-dead; as far as he's concerned, ''all'' Saiyans are guilty.
* SmallNameBigEgo: His appearance when alive says it all, perhaps was as tall as Krillin. Though it makes sense since Tuffles were mostly a small-sized race compared to the Saiyans. His ego is also present as he says he ''will'' kill the Saiyans regardless of who gets harmed in the process. Not to mention Hatchiyack, because after being defeated by everyone, he gave his grudge power to Hatchiyack which completed his physical form. More importantly, as Hatchiyack dies, he is shown screaming as well. It's as though he and his ego become one with Hatchiyack.
** This is much more pronounced when one remembers that he also calls himself the "ultimate Ghost Warrior", despite being a very passive combatant whose only tactic is to stall with his barrier. Ironically, in the ''game'' this boast bears out, as he is the second strongest enemy the heroes fight (Hatchiyack itself being the first) and wields the techniques of all the other Ghost Warriors.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: In ''Dragon Ball Heroes'' he is given a Majin power-up, which in the tradition of Majin power-ups is one of these. Kind of played with, though, as Lychee is evil with or without the power-up.
* ThisIsUnforgivable: He outright says that even if God Himself forgives the Saiyans for their crimes, he ''never'' will.
* VengefulGhost: Played with, as despite being called Ghost Warriors none of the Ghost Warriors, including Lychee, are actually ''ghosts''. They're more like artificial phantoms generated by Hatchiyack.
* VillainTeamUp: It's shown Raichi wouldn't mind tagging along with Dr. Myu (who was made to believe he too was a Tuffle scientist that escaped genocide from the Saiyans) in ''Dragon Ball Heroes.'' The same applies to Dr. Gero, and Dr. Kochan in a later on mission trailer. Babidi also gave him the Majin Warrior upgrade on a previous mission.

!!Tropes applying to the group as a whole
* AllThereInTheManual:
** Kogu's and Zangya's names aren't mentioned in the movie, and while Bujin's and Bido's are, it can be easy to miss who's who, since Bojack only mentions them once in the same sentence [[note]]After Gohan turns Super Saiyan 2, Bojack looks towards his right and says "Bujin", then towards his left and says "Bido", in a scene before that's where they landed, and they remain on the same sides when attacking Gohan, so one can tell who's who, but again, can be easy to miss[[/note]]
** Their races being named "Hera" is not mentioned in the movie. The race's name likely wasn't originally planned since it wasn't in any of the Daizenshuus, it was first mentioned is in ''Super Butoden 2'', which took a bunch of liberties with the movies plot in its adaptation. Other games like ''Legends'' and ''Xenoverse 2'' kept the name.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: All of them have blue skin.
* TheCameo: All of them appear in ''Fusion Reborn''.
* CombatPragmatist: They're fond of ganging up on the heroes individually, as well as using psychic barriers ("Psycho Threads") to restrain opponents. Doesn't work so well when Gohan can NoSell their powers and make them explode with single punches, though.
%%* EvilRedhead: All of them, except possibly Bujin, have orange hair.
* {{Expy}}: They appear to be based on the Makyans and the Saiyans due to their buff, color-changing SuperMode.
* FlatCharacter: They really don’t get much characterization in ''Bojack Unbound''. The video games have expanded on Zangya’s personality at least.
* GuysSmashGirlsShoot: Surprisingly inverted, Zangya spends most of her fights giving brutal if elegant beatdowns while all the guys send energy attacks and psychic powers. She does help out with some combination attacks but that's about it.
* NGOSuperpower: Despite being simple pirates, each member is much more powerful than Emperor Frieza, and the leader is stronger than Vegeta and Trunks.
* PurpleIsPowerful: All of them have purple on their outfits.
* RubberForeheadAliens: They all look like humans with blue/green skin and PointyEars.
* SpacePirates: That rampaged across four galaxies.
* TerribleTrio: While there are four of them, Kogu fights separately from the group leaving the trio of Bujin, Bido, and Zangya.
* ThemeNaming:
** All of them including Bojack have names that fall in line with their evil traits.
** The name of their species is the "Race of Hera" or "Hera-seijin." In Greek mythology, Hera is the queen of the gods, who despite her regal nature is actually a rather petty and spiteful being. This might be a reference to how all of Bojack's people are named for their evil traits.
* WouldHurtAChild: They have no problem with attacking Gohan.

Bojack's main henchman, or woman in this case, with long curly orange hair and pointed ears.
----
* AffablyEvil: According to the pre-battle comments in the videogames, she is very polite, well-spoken, cool, and somewhat [[DeadpanSnarker sarcastic]].
* BeautyIsBad: A really beautiful babe, and a space pirate who doesn't mind killing the population of a planet. And Krillin certainly agrees she is gorgeous.
* BreakoutVillain: She is only a henchman in the movie, with only one line of dialogue. However, she is very popular with the fans (presumably due to her fighting prowess and character design) and has made many appearances in the video games as often the ''only'' one of the Galaxy Soldiers to appear alongside Bojack.
* DarkActionGirl: Held her own in a brief fight with Super Saiyan Trunks before [[CombatPragmatist paralyzing him with her psychic powers so her teammate could wail on him]].
* DirtyCoward: A downplayed and understandable example, given she just watched her two companions get torn in half with ''one kick'' each, but she is shown to want ''no part'' of fighting Gohan after he goes Super Saiyan 2 and backs away from him in fear, leading BadBoss Bojack to insult and then kill her.
* GreenSkinnedSpaceBabe: She has bluish skin.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: She's at least as strong as a Cell Junior, but is even thinner than 18.
* NotSoStoic: She is very scared when she sees Gohan as a [=SSJ2=], especially after he kills Bujin and Bido.
* PirateGirl: She's the only girl in the "crew" too.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: The only female in Bojack’s crew, and by extension the ''only'' female villain in the ''Z'' films. She isn't the ''first'' one in the franchise, however, as Pasta (or Raven) was the first one, appearing in ''Anime/DragonBallCurseOfTheBloodRubies'' as a henchwoman to King Gurumes.
* TheStarscream: In ''Budokai Tenkaichi 2'' and ''3'', though given [[BadBoss Bojack's treatment]], can you really blame her?
--> '''Bojack''': You would defy me?
--> '''Zangya''': Stop trying to pretend you're the boss!
* TheStoic: She doesn’t show much emotion when she fights.
* VillainessesWantHeroes: In the ''Budokai Tenkaichi'' games, she makes it very clear she thinks Krillin is cute and hints at wanting him. [[ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend Android 18]] [[CatFight does not approve of this]].
--> '''Zangya''': Your man's kinda cute.
--> '''18''': Skank.
* VocalEvolution: Her voice in her debut film was lighter and flippant but became deeper and sultry in her video game appearances.
* WorldsStrongestWoman: Being strong enough to restrain and wound post Cell Games Super Saiyan Gohan and hold her own against post Cell Games Trunks 1 v 1 (putting her well beyond Shin, the strongest and highest-ranking God in ''Z''), Zangya was by far the most powerful female in the universe throughout her entire life and in ''Z'' in general alongside Android 18. And yet she subverts this trope, as she is not actually ''from Earth''. Perhaps "Galaxy's Strongest Woman" would be a better title for her?
** To put it in perspective, since ''Dragon Ball'' doesn't have a lot of female fighters, it took a long time until a singular stronger one showed up in ''GT'', that being Oceanus. Other media such as ''Dragon Ball Online'' and ''Xenoverse'' introduce Towa, but since she's more of a scientist than a fighter she's probably much weaker. ''Super'' dethrones her for good, not only it has women who can keep up with post-Buu saga characters like Caulifla, Kale, Ribrianne, among others, 18 herself is also much stronger than before, and it has every female God of Destruction and every female Angel, who outclass even Goku. Still, it took a few years for a single woman to be stronger than her, and it took even longer for more than one to show up.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: Implied. After Super Saiyan 2 Gohan easily kills Bujin and Bido, Zangya is too terrified to fight him, and her psychic powers won't be useful against him, since Bujin's and Bido's powers couldn't stop Gohan. Bojack pushes her and then fires a Ki blast that completely disintegrates her that is aimed at Gohan.

The psychic of Bojack's crew.
----
* CombinationAttack: He often works with Bido by trapping his opponent with his needles and then Bido takes them down.
* DepravedDwarf: He's a little guy, but quite sadistic.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: Gohan finishes him off by kicking him in half.
* MindOverMatter: Uses his psychic powers to throw things at Gohan.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: Doesn’t appear to be very buff, but he does put up a good fight against Gohan, at least until he goes [=SSJ2=].
* NeverBareheaded: He never takes his turban off his head.
* PsychopathicManchild: Hinted at in his first appearances, where he draws Gohan into an illusionary funhouse full of toys.
* {{Telepathy}}: He has the ability to throw objects and change the appearance of the battlefield

The swordfighter of Bojack's crew.
-----
* BadassesWearBandanas: Sports a purple bandana.
* CoolSword: Has his sword with him at all times.
* EliteMook: Played with. He's the only member of the Galaxy Soldiers other than Bojack shown to be able to transform, but he's the first of them to die and the only reason he even transforms at all seems to be foreshadowing to the audience that Bojack can do it. Him needing to transform at all against Trunks before he went Super Saiyan could also mean he's only around base Trunks' level, which would put him on the same level as Tien in base form... That being said he could have transformed just because he felt like it, since Bojack transformed against Vegeta despite just defeating him too. Regardless he got killed by Trunks while at least Zangya briefly fought him alone without being killed too, so even with the capacity to transform, Kogu is perhaps the weakest Galaxy Soldier, or at least weaker than Zangya.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: If inconsistent ones in the English dub. He's not above ambushing Trunks with a blast out of nowhere, but he does give him a chance to surrender when it looks like he's beaten. Not the case in the Japanese dub, once he knocks down Trunks he just says "Are you finished already" with no indication he was planning to spare Trunks.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Trunks finishes him off this way, by ramming his fist clean through him.
* LonersAreFreaks: He notably fights alone, unlike all the other Galaxy Soldiers who fight very much as a unit. That being said by that point of the movie each of the Galaxy Soldiers minus Bojack were fighting the tournament's finalists alone (Zangya attacked Krillin, Bido killed Doskoi, Bujin attacked Gohan), so it's less about Kogu prefering to fight alone and it's more about them separating in that circumstance and he got killed before the rest arrived. Even then Bojack showed up to attack Trunks soon after Kogu got killed.
* MasterSwordsman: Is said to have been a skilled swordsman.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: Is very scrawny until he transforms, however, he does make quick work of Future Trunks until Trunks goes SSJ.
* NotSoStoic: Is visibly shocked when Trunks kills him.
* OneSteveLimit: Averted by a closed margin. His name is Gokua, not Goku. Possibly as a CastingGag, the Latin American Spanish dub gave him the same voice actor as Goku. The American dub deliberately changed his name to "Kogu" to enforce this.
* ReusedCharacterDesign: He looks like an evil and green-skinned Chrono from ''VideoGame/ChronoTrigger''.
* TheStoic: Doesn't emote much when he fights.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: He is the first of the Galaxy Soldiers to be taken out. His brief appearance, however, allowed us to see the SuperMode their members are capable of.

-->''"Master Bojack has no equal!"''

The powerhouse of Bojack’s crew.
-----
* AlmightyJanitor: The strongest member of Bojack’s crew but is ranked below Zangya, at least in the video games.
%%* BeardOfEvil: Rocks a goatee.
* BloodKnight: His introduction scene sees him strangle a human fighter who stood no chance against him to death purely ForTheEvulz.
* TheBrute: The strongest of Bojack’s crew.
* CombinationAttack: He and Bujin often work together to take down opponents, Bujin traps them and then he finishes them off.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: Gohan kills him by punching him in half.
%%* NeckLift: Does this to Doskoi before he kills him.
%%* PsychoticSmirk: While strangling the aforementioned Doskoi.
* {{Sadist}}: Seems to enjoy his brutish work just a little too much.

-->''"It's been so long... since I've snapped someone's neck!"''

An alien with nothing more than universal conquest on the mind and the main antagonist of ''Anime/DragonBallZBojackUnbound''. Crashes a tournament the heroes attend, a major fight breaks out, winds up facing Gohan, and meets his end by the younger Saiyan's hands in the end.
----
* AdaptationalPersonalityChange: In ''Super Butoden 2'', he realizes that Gohan is too strong and decides to gather the dragon balls to make him and the others his servants, which's surprisingly pragmatic of him. If you choose to kill Zangya, Bojack says he's going to avenge her, even though in the movie [[{{Irony}} he's the one who killed her to begin with]].
* AlienBlood: He has purple blood.
* AliensAreBastards: He means to thank Goku for freeing him by killing all of his friends and family.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Has blue skin, which seems to be standard for his race. Upon transforming it changes to green.
* BadBoss: As his beautiful henchwoman Zangya finds out the hard way, whom he kills for basically no reason. It is any wonder she shows TheStarscream tendencies when they fight each other in the video games?
* BadassesWearBandanas: He normally wears a black bandana.
* BloodKnight: His introduction quote even has him remarking that it has been a long time since he has snapped a person's neck.
* TheCombatPragmatist: In ''Xenoverse 2'' he expresses these sentiments when training the PlayerCharacter, telling them that there is no such thing as fighting cleanly or kindly.
* ComplexityAddiction: Why does he go to the trouble of having his underlings infiltrate and mess with a martial arts tournament if all he wants from Earth is a "nice planet" to rule?
%%* EvilRedhead: His hair goes from orange to red.
* {{Expy}}:
** A despot who, after being accidentally released, sends his minions to a martial arts tournament to eliminate any strong fighters that might get in his way. The first of the martial artists to fall is Krillin. The first minion is killed by a mysterious youth with a sword. Bojack himself has a hole put in his torso. He's effectively King Piccolo with hair.
** His climactic battle with Gohan contains many elements reminiscent of Gohan's battle with Cell, though not in the same order: Gohan getting trapped in a bear hug, Goku coming from the Other World to help Gohan (while implied with Cell, Goku is explicitly shown here to use Instant Transmission to punch Bojack in the face), Gohan going Super Saiyan 2 and curb-stomping his minions (just like SSJ 2 Gohan did with the Cell Jrs.), Bojack transforming into a SuperMode (just like Cell went from Perfect Cell to Super Perfect Cell after coming BackFromTheDead), and finally perishing after a [[BeamOWar clash of beams]] with Gohan.
* FailureIsTheOnlyOption: In ''Xenoverse 2'' he reveals to the Player Character he has been gathering followers in secret and plans to lead an invasion of the city. [[NoCampaignForTheWicked There is no option to support this invasion]], though, and no matter what you do you will "betray" him in the fifth mission, after which his followers will all desert him.
* TheFightingNarcissist: Seems to have some elements of this, at least in ''Xenoverse 2''. The only way he will consider training the Player Character is if they come to him wearing the outfit of his henchmen, and the only way to unlock the final training mission is to approach him wearing ''his'' outfit.
* FlatCharacter: Bojack probably suffers the most out of all the movie villains of having very little personality. We're told he and his crew were once a threat so great the Kais united to seal them in a star (a measure they didn't even take with Frieza), but we're never told where they came from, how they got so powerful, or, most damningly, what they ''want''. This lack of motive is further heightened by Bojack homing straight in on Earth after his release, without any explanation as to how he can sense months-old energy from the Cell Games or what he even wants from Earth besides "a nice planet" to rule. He makes a comment to Gohan about telling his father hello when he sees him in the afterlife, but we're never told how he even knows of Goku or why he even cares. The list goes on and on. ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse2'' tries to give him some depth, but he's still by far the most undeveloped of the movie villains.
* IAmNotLeftHanded: Able to beat all of Earth's greatest fighters without transforming, something Kogu needed to do just to stand a chance. That was until Gohan went Super Saiyan 2, whereupon his own transformation proved inadequate.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: What Gohan eventually did to him after transforming into a [[LetsGetDangerous Super Saiyan 2]], although unlike Super Android 13 or Broly (kind of), this didn't quite finish him. The beam attacks sure did, however.
* InexplicablyAwesome: No explanation is given as to why this mere space pirate is stronger than Vegeta and Trunks post-Cell Saga (and thus implicitly in the same ballpark as Perfect Cell, if not Super Perfect Cell).
* {{Jerkass}}: He pillaged and plundered across the four galaxies of the Kais, seemingly because he could, though he was beaten even back then.
* KickTheDog: When Bojack mercilessly hugs Gohan, he nearly kills him. Gets another when he betrays and kills his own henchwoman Zangya just to a cheap shot at Gohan.
* LargeHam: Some of his video game appearances hint at him being this as a reason for his ComplexityAddiction, as he talks about creating a "killer show together" if you partner with him.
* MeaningfulName: His name comes from the Japanese word ''bōjakubujin'', which means "arrogance" or "audacity".
* NonstandardCharacterDesign: Bojack has narrower eyes than the previous characters, which gives him a slightly more realistic-looking face than the previous main villains, to make him unsettlingly hyper-realistic.
* PowerDyesYourHair: His orange hair turns red in his SuperMode.
* PowerupFullColorChange: Bojack's blue skin turns green in his SuperMode.
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: In ''Xenoverse 2'' he expressed some curiosity about the strength of Saiyans, famously regarded as a warrior race, while also commenting that regardless of that strength, it would still be nothing compared to "the almighty Race of Hera."
* RememberTheNewGuy: Possibly. He not only knows Goku but also knows Goku is currently dead during the events of the movie. Whether or not he has actually met Goku offscreen is unclear.
* RewardedAsATraitorDeserves: Referenced in ''Xenoverse 2'', where no matter what choices the PlayerCharacter makes after training under him inevitably you will be forced to betray him in the fifth and final training mission. He expresses his disgust at the betrayal and then declares he intends to show the Player Character what he does to traitors.
%%* SealedEvilInACan: Inside a ''star'', even.
* SinsOfOurFathers: Alludes to this when he tells Gohan to "say hello to your father in the next world!" How he knows about Goku or why he cares about a man he's never met [[GenericDoomsdayVillain is never explained]].
* SoLastSeason: Averted in the SortingAlgorithmOfEvil. He comes between the Cell and Majin Buu timeskip, but his fight with Super Saiyan 2 Gohan is far less difficult than his fight with Super Perfect Cell. He may even be weaker than Perfect Cell, though that's far less definitive.
* SpacePirates: He and of course gets mocked in WebVideo/DragonBallZAbridged wherein he talks just like a cartoon pirate.
* SuperMode: His race can do something similar to Saiyans turning Super Saiyan.
* UngratefulBastard: In ''Xenoverse 2'', where after being spared by the Player Character in the final mission he expresses only snide contempt for the player's soft-heartedness, declaring that regardless of this mercy he will make the PC taste his revenge someday.
* VillainousBreakdown: Has one of these in ''Xenoverse 2'' after being defeated in the fifth and final training mission.
-->'''Bojack:''' My minions have deserted me and my ambitions are in tatters... It wasn't supposed to end this way...
* VocalEvolution: He has a Caribbean accent in the dub of his debut movie. The video games don't give him any particular accent.
* TheWorfEffect: Is stronger than Vegeta and Trunks post Cell Games, which would imply he's ''at least'' as strong as Perfect Cell if not comparable to Super Perfect Cell. Unfortunately for him, he came ''after'' Gohan had unlocked a form that ultimately made that a cakewalk.
* WouldHitAGirl: He had no problem attacking and killing his female minion Zangya.
* WouldHurtAChild: He had no qualms with fighting Gohan, although he is aware that Gohan is a strong fighter.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: He blasts through his female minion Zangya just to get to Gohan.[[note]]This however was probably done to prevent Gohan from killing a female character.[[/note]]

The priest and conjurer of Natade Village, a hamlet in the Northern Wilderness that Goten, Trunks, and Videl visit.
----
* AssholeVictim: Given that his incompetence as a conjurer caused several people to be killed by a dinosaur in his village (which he shows no remorse over) and he knowingly helped create a clone of Broly just so he could get some money while not caring if it endangered the whole universe, and considering he was trying to betray Jaguar and steal his money, it's hard to feel any sympathy for him when he gets killed by the culture fluid.
* FakeWizardry: He poses as a conjurer but has no real magical power. He often shouts gibberish phrases to make people think he's casting incantations.
* GrailInTheGarbage: He wears a Dragon Ball on his necklace. Naturally, he has no idea what it really is.
* HateSink: For a powerless human, he's one of the most singularly vile characters across any of the movies, without a single positive trait to be found in him.
* HumiliationConga: After the events of ''Broly: Second Coming'' he is [[YouCantGoHomeAgain banished from his village]].
* KnowNothingKnowItAll: He thinks he's an expert in incantations, but he has no real magic at all.
* LetNoCrisisGoToWaste: In ''Bio-Broly'', he uses the crisis of the titular villain's rampage to try and steal all of Lord Jaguar's money. Unfortunately for him, he is soon after RewardedAsATraitorDeserves.
* NonActionGuy: Like all average humans in the DBZ universe, he has no fighting power worth noting, and any of the named characters could destroy him with a single blow if they were so inclined.
%%* PsychoticSmirk: When he has his reunion with Goten and Trunks in ''Bio-Broly''.
* RecurringCharacter: As minor a character as he is, he bears the distinction of being one of the very few recurring movie villains.
* SignatureHeadgear: He's always wearing a purple headband.
* SmallNameBigEgo: He thinks he's a competent sorcerer, but he's anything but.
* SmarterThanYouLook: He might be a fake conjurer, but he is smart enough to work out a lot about Broly and to know that the Legendary Super Saiyan's blood is something Lord Jaguar would pay a fortune for.
* SmugSnake: In ''Broly: Second Coming'', before Goten and Trunks make him the laughingstock of his village.
* TheUsurper: He's introduced as the conjurer of a backwater village in the mountains who had usurped the village chief's power by exploiting their fear of a "monster". His solution is yearly HumanSacrifice rituals to appease the creature, which in truth is nothing more than a dinosaur. The chief knows the "rituals" aren't really magic but sadly goes along with them because he doesn't have any better solution -- until Goten and Trunks come along.

A wealthy man who was Mr. Satan's rival in school and seeks to take revenge against him and conquer the world with his bio warriors, including Bio-Broly.
----
* BigBadWannabe: He creates the clone of Broly along with several other bio warriors and thinks he's Bio-Broly's master. He ends up being nothing more than an annoying pest.
* DirtyOldMan: He was seen oogling Android 18 before she smacked him into a wall.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: He loves his dog.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He wants to use his clone of Broly along with the other bio warriors to kill Mr. Satan and take over the world, but he is appalled when Bio-Broly nearly kills Trunks and orders him to stop, only to be attacked himself.
* FatBastard: He's very rotund.
* HeelRealization: He realizes how badly he screwed up and even thinks twice when Trunks offers to rescue him, believing he deserves to die for having put the world at risk.
* JerkassHasAPoint: He's a stunted manchild who really needs to let it go and get a real hobby, but he's not wrong about Mr. Satan being a fraud.
* {{Malaproper}}: Mispronounces victims as vitamins and play as spray.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: He is ashamed of his actions when the culture fluid becomes so strong it could destroy the planet.
* PsychopathicManchild: He's not really evil like Maloja, he's just very stunted emotionally and has way too much money for his own good.
* PunnyName: On the Japanese word for a buttered baked potato. His noble title of “baron”, and his “Castle Mayqueen”, also both refer to varieties of potato in Japan.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: He favors red and black in his wardrobe and is a villain, if not a really malevolent one (unless you're Mr. Satan).
* SoreLoser: The whole plot happens because of a boyhood grudge he never got over.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: In Japanese, no less. Depending on the source, he’s either “Jaguar Batta” or “Jaguar Badda”. Not even guidebooks seem to be able to keep it straight.
%%* TakeOverTheWorld: This was one of his goals, along with killing Mr. Satan.
* UpperClassTwit: He's up there with the Briefs family on the wealth scale, but has no technical training or really any kind of useful skills whatsoever.
* WeakBossStrongUnderlings: FatBastard Baron Jaguar Badda is a normal human that control, or attempts to, a group of very strong Bio-Warriors, including Broly. It should cue you that he is Mr. Satan's rival, who while strong enough to be an unstoppable force and a borderline superhero in normal human terms, is basically an ant next to even the weakest of the Z-Warriors.
* WouldntHurtAChild: Downplayed. He has no problem with having his bio-warriors ''fight'' against Goten and Trunks, but when Bio-Broly very clearly tries to ''kill'' Trunks, Jaguar orders him to stop. Bio-Broly simply attacks him in response.

One of the revived villains in ''Fusion Reborn'', and the secondary main antagonist compared to Janemba. He is the main threat for the living world, though Goten and Trunks mop him up pretty easily once they fuse into Gotenks.
----
* AdolfHitlarious: He was never taken seriously for even one second.
* BigBadWannabe: He's really kind of an idiot. He only keeps Trunks and Goten busy due to the sheer number of his zombie troops.
* EvilArmy: At least a good deal of his soldiers seemingly ended up in hell with him.
* {{Ghostapo}}: A zombie Nazi.
* TheNapoleon: He's barely taller than either Trunks or Goten.
%%* ANaziByAnyOtherName: Do we really need to address how he fits into the trope?
* NoHistoricalFiguresWereHarmed: An obvious stand-in for UsefulNotes/AdolfHitler.
* NoNameGiven: "Dictator" is just his name in the credits.
* NoSwastikas: His hat and armband have a plain X on them instead of a swastika. Probably also a ShoutOut to ''Film/TheGreatDictator'', which does something similar.
* OurZombiesAreDifferent: All of the risen dead in ''Fusion Reborn'' are undead of some sort (mostly zombies and skeletons, but some ghosts). The Dictator is apparently also a zombie, but inexplicably well-preserved.
* PurpleIsPowerful: He wears purple as he's the leader.
* PuttingOnTheReich: Again, it's obvious he's based on Hitler.
* WouldHurtAChild: As soon as he sees Goten and Trunks while assuming they are just civilians, he orders his troops to open fire on them.
* ZergRush: It's how he runs rampant over the city, and how he and his soldiers end up destroyed by Gotenks' ghosts.

A demon created when Hell's Soul Cleansing Machine broke down, immersing the scatterbrained ogre taking care of it in the collected evils of human history. First started off as a fat childlike yellow being (referred to as "Janempa", with a ''p'', in the Funimation dub). But after Goku trounces that form, it transforms into a more fight-capable body that needed Gogeta to defeat him.
----
* AbsurdlySharpBlade: He doesn't cut things with his sword. He cuts things with the ''draft from swinging it''.
* AlmightyIdiot: He is a powerful RealityWarper with enough strength to go toe to toe with Goku, but lacks any sort of real personality or drive outside of causing destruction. Fitting for a Majin Buu expy.
* BloodKnight: Really debatable with the first form, definitely the case with the second, as he laughs manically seeing his sword crumble due to Vegeta's power.
* BigRedDevil: Not all that big, especially compared to his original form. But it is still very tall.
* BishonenLine: He starts as an almost cuddly giant monster, then turns into Satan.
* BreathWeapon: His smaller form uses one to catch Goku by surprise, though Goku takes it quite well.
* BreakoutVillain: While not to the degree of Broly or Cooler, Janemba is one of the more publicized movie villains. He appeared in the storyline of ''Buu's Fury'', was heavily promoted in the release of the first ''Budokai Tenkaichi'' game, and was a main villain in the ''Shin Budokai'' games. Keep in mind that those games (except for ''Shin Budokai: Another Road'') came out before ''Fusion Reborn'' was released in the US, including the American-made ''Buu's Fury''.
* ConfusionFu: Has a vast range of bizarre, unpredictable powers and abilities that throw Goku, Vegeta, and Pikkon completely off-guard. This makes fighting him head on like any other traditional villain pretty much impossible, because none of the heroes have a way of countering it except through raw power.
* CoolSword: The Dimension Sword, a blood-red blade capable of cutting through dimensions.
* DeaderThanDead: Gogeta completely destroyed Janemba, freeing the ogre who had been turned into Janemba.
* {{Expy}}: Give Majin Buu a devil motif, and this is more or less what you get; a being that starts out [[FatIdiot fat, dimwitted]] [[LaughablyEvil and comical]], then becomes a [[LeanAndMean lean]], far more menacing and powerful new being who the English translation differentiates by adding Super before the name, and is [[spoiler:overwhelmed by a fusion of Goku and Vegeta]]. Possibly lampshaded in the ''Shin Budokai'' arcade game, where they become friends.
* GenericDoomsdayVillain: Especially in his second form, he doesn't have much going on besides being pure evil, and he doesn't even have any dialogue besides angry grunting and PokemonSpeak. However, this is used as something of a Deconstruction of the concept, taking the generic, doomsday, and villain aspects to their absurd conclusions. He's literally MadeOfEvil, so him having nothing besides evil intentions is because he literally is a monster.
%%* {{Kaiju}}: His first form.
* MadeOfEvil: ''Literally'' the embodiment of all the evil in Hell condensed within one person.
* MeaningfulName: Janemba's name appears (though has never been confirmed) to be a combination of ''janen'' ("wicked thought") and ''shōnenba'' (a situation that reveals one's true character). His true character is a mass of pure evil from all the souls that have been cleansed.
* MergerOfSouls: Was created when a soul-cleansing machine exploded and all the evil souls were merged with the Oni attendant.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Dishes some pain out to Goku and Vegeta's failed fusion form ("Veku") and Pikkon.
* NominalVillain: The Saike Demon is corrupted into becoming Janemba by the evil energies unleashed by the Soul Cleansing Machine. Otherwise, he isn't a malicious person and is at worst a teenage slacker.
* OneWingedAngel: Goes from fat and jolly to full CerebusSyndrome.
%%* PokemonSpeak: In his first form.
* ThePowerOfCreation: Hints of this. After all, the "jelly beans" seem to come from nowhere but the air itself, and in one instance during his fight with Goku, he counters his [[KameHameHadoken Kamehameha]] by creating a miniature Goku doing the same technique with just as much power. Even he seemed impressed by that.
%%* PsychopathicManchild: First form definitely.
* RealityWarper: Bordering on OutsideGenreFoe, he notably turned Hell into a jelly-bean-covered playground, and revived all the deceased villains. He also made his CoolSword by transforming a discarded oni club by just grabbing it. Goku and Vegeta are, of course, completely unprepared to fight someone who can change the universe around them and the two have to fuse in order to simply overpower and defeat him.
* RubberMan: He can stretch his arms, allowing him to shove Vegeta through a field of debris while choking him.
* {{Sadist}}: When he had Goku trapped, he took his sweet time chopping away the surroundings of Goku's prison just to see him sweat a little before he'd finish him off.
* SuperMode: His smaller form in comparison to his larger one, though even then he can't get the edge on Goku until he starts using his weirder abilities.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: He's more or less a direct {{Expy}} of Buu, sharing many similarities with the UnskilledButStrong RubberMan that forced the heroes to fuse to have a chance to defeat him. However, while Buu is a VillainousGlutton that was SmarterThanTheyLook, Janemba is a GenericDoomsdayVillain with the ability to warp reality to his whims with a minor VerbalWeakness.
* SwordBeam: He uses them to carve trenches in Hell's landscape and seriously mess up Goku.
* ThinkingUpPortals: Used to redirect enemy attacks, fire one of his own at point-blank range, and for transportation.
* TookALevelInBadass: The video game ''Shin Budokai'' retells the story of Fusion Reborn. Janemba's power grows the more evil energy he gets, and though at first, he's only as strong as a Super Saiyan, by the end [[spoiler:he can hold his own against Gogeta, who one-shot him in the movie]].
* UnskilledButStrong: Strongly implied to have serious issues with this, especially in his first form, as at times he seemed perplexed by the extent of his own powers, and Goku gave him a good run for a good portion of their fight before he turned Super Saiyan 3 and forced a transformation to fix this. Even as Super Janemba, when he fights Goku head on he isn't able to overpower him at first, but once he starts using his RealityWarper powers, Goku isn't able to land an attack after and is defeated. It takes fusing into Gogeta to defeat him, as Gogeta is so powerful that Janemba doesn't have any way of defeating him.
* VerbalWeakness: As powerful as he is, he's still like a sensitive child and can be literally hurt or have his hold over a realm broken by childish insults. It's not enough to kill him or really damage him, but it can stagger him enough for Pikkon to get an opening with him.

The last member of a cult that worshiped Hirudegarn and one of the main antagonists of ''Anime/DragonBallZWrathOfTheDragon''. He kills Tapion's brother Minotia at the start of the movie, unleashing Hirudegarn's lower half. He then tricks the main characters into summoning Shenron so he can release Tapion, along with Hirudegarn's upper half.
----
* AliensAreBastards: He's an alien, and he's a bastard.
* BigBadWannabe: He tries to use Hirudegarn as a weapon to help him in his conquest. [[KarmicDeath He ends up being killed by it]].
* EvilSorcerer: A savvier {{Expy}} of Babidi, the main example of the manga.
* KarmicDeath: Killed by the very monster he spent the entire movie trying to unleash.
* SuperiorSuccessor: If one was to compare him to Babidi, he's a space wizard who's able to manipulate the heroes into doing what he wants without ever being in danger himself.
* WeakButSkilled: Is not strong enough to take on any of the main characters by a long shot, but he does have ninja skills which give him a slight edge against Tapion.
* WizardsFromOuterSpace: He is similar to Babidi in that he's an ancient wizard from some unknown planet.

An ancient being of nothing but pure destruction and one of the main antagonists of ''Anime/DragonBallZWrathOfTheDragon''. It was defeated by a race of aliens known as the Konatsians who managed to split it in two and seal it within two brothers, who were themselves sealed in two music boxes and shot across the galaxy for good measure. Sure enough, however, an evil wizard named Hoi decides he'd like to set the abomination free. He succeeds, but only winds up unleashing the monster on Earth, causing a rampage that the Z-Warriors have to deal with.
----
* AchillesHeel: Varies between versions due to DubText:
** In the original Japanese version, it has to become tangible in order to attack, leaving it vulnerable while doing so. With this knowledge, Goku goads the monster into attacking him so he can unleash his Super Dragon Fist while it's vulnerable, completely destroying it.
** In the Funimation dub, it's stated to not be as hard to fight if you can rid yourself of your fear of it. Intense emotions also drain the beast's energy, greatly weakening it. Goku uses this to his advantage by taunting Hirudegarn constantly, weakening it while also causing the bystanders watching the fight to become less frightened, weakening it even further so he can destroy it.
** Cutting off its tail (only possible with the blessed sword Tapion carries) causes it to lose some of its IntangibleMan ability.
* AlienBlood: When Trunks cuts off his tail, he bleeds yellow.
* AtrociousArthropods: It's second form is that of a large, insectoid creature.
* CannibalismSuperpower: Hirudegarn, like Cell, can use its tail to absorb other beings for power-up. But unlike Cell, Hirudegarn can do so on a massive scale, targeting dozens of people at once.
* DestroyerDeity: A deity of apocalyptic destruction given life through his animated idol. Justifies being a GenericDoomsdayVillain much more cleanly than you'd expect from a movie like this.
* EldritchAbomination: Is less a character than a force of nature.
* {{Expy}}:
** He's a combination of the biggest threats in the ''Dragon Ball Z'' arcs. He's as big as a giant ape Saiyan, he has universally feared power like Frieza, he can absorb people like Cell (while not having any Ki like the Androids), and is near-impervious to physical harm like Majin Buu.
** To Majin Buu specifically, as he's also an EldritchAbomination that lives only for destruction, was created/awakened by an EvilSorcerer (a group of them in his case), was sealed away eons ago, is revived in the present by one of the evil sorcerers to be used as a weapon, and eventually kills said sorcerer. In addition, like Kid Buu he's a mindless monster of pure instinct.
* GenericDoomsdayVillain: He's just a world-destroying monster simply because that's what he is, no reason or intentions back his actions. This is an example of Administrivia/TropesAreTools however, as the flip side is that this makes ''much'' more sense in the plot than the cockiness or arrogance of... well, just about every other villain in the franchise might. Hirudegarn literally cannot understand the power he possesses or what the Z-Warriors can bring against him. He's just an entity of malevolence and destruction.
** A sort of Reconstruction of the concept, after Janemba. He gets no characterization; and ''doesn't need it to be an effective antagonistic force''. More importantly, the fact that Hirudegarn is so generic leaves plenty of running time to develop Tapion and show the progress of the other characters, which contributes nicely towards the zippy feel of the movie.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: The two halves are either separate or on opposite sides of a mobile portal. It's like a really weird form of DetachmentCombat, though we only see either the lower half or the combined form.
* IntangibleMan: Unless you cut off its tail, he can turn into mist to avoid attacks. Worse, he doesn't seem to give off any Ki, so it's difficult to get a bead on him.
* {{Kaiju}}: ''Wrath of the Dragon'' is basically what happens when the animators get drunk and agree to "wouldn't it be cool if Goku got to fight Godzilla?" (There are even a couple of shots of the military attempting to stop him, to no avail.)
* KickTheSonOfABitch: Whether or not it was an accident, after being freed from Tapion [[RuleOfThree three times]], Hirudegarn proceeds to crush its "master" Hoi. No one cares since the guy (probably) killed Tapion's brother, tricked the Z-Fighters into helping him, and killed a majority of people in West City.
* LightningBruiser: His IntangibleMan trick means he can strike from unexpected angles, a bit like Janenba above. ''Unlike'' Janenba, he strikes from ''completely'' unexpected angles and hits like a meteorite -- the effect is that he's extremely good at knocking out the Z-Warriors with a couple of hits, even knocking ''Gotenks apart'' at one point. It says something that Goku and Vegeta [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness both attack it on sight]] without the usual pissing match, the former even ordering Gotenks to stop messing around and finish it off when he seems to have it on the ropes.
* OneWingedAngel: Shedding its outer layer like a monstrous cicada to reveal an even more powerful, nightmarishly insectoid form beneath.
* OutsideContextProblem: The generally accepted pattern in the Dragon Ball universe is that human-scale antagonists cause trouble, which is then solved by human-scale heroes. Hirudegarn is plainly a {{Kaiju}} that exists for nothing more than destruction -- and more importantly, given the series' themes, has ''no choice'' in the matter. Nothing in the series to that point even hinted that such forces ''existed'', with even Majin Buu at least having sentience and the ability to choose.
* SealedEvilInACan: [[SealedEvilInASixPack Two separate]], people-shaped cans, who both become SealedGoodInACan to make certain (and are both banished to opposite sides of the universe, in music boxes that can't be opened). It ''still'' isn't enough, proving this trope is doomed from the outset in the face of determination to release that evil.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: His name is either "Hirudegarn" or "Hildegarn".
* SuperMode: His second, winged mode doesn't do much besides let him fly. Mind, he was ''already'' a LightningBruiser...
* TheWorfEffect: Justified by it actually ''looking'' like it could mop the floor with the whole cast, for once. And at the same time, it's kind of a subversion, given how the franchise normally plays out the trope with beings in the same size category as the heroes.

Two alien brothers featured in the OVA ''Anime/YoSonGokuAndHisFriendsReturn''. They originally served Frieza but wound up on their own after his death. They chase after Tarble and Gure, winding up on Earth and coming into confrontation with the Z-Fighters.

Formidable on their own, Abo and Kado can merge into a single, even more powerful being called Aka.
----
* AffablyEvil: Aka waits for Goten and Trunks to regroup after they fail their first attempt at the fusion dance.
* ColorMotif: Abo is blue and Kado is red. The creature they fuse into is purple.
* CombatCompliment: They are very respectful of Goten and Trunks, as is Aka towards Gotenks.
* BreathWeapon: "Wahaha no... Ha!!", a ball of energy similar to those used by Frieza, expelled from Aka's mouth.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Abo and Kado are seen celebrating with the cast after Goku takes down Aka.
* DoppelgangerAttack: They have a more advanced version of the after image. Unfortunately for them, they arrive after most of the fighters, even 18, have learned to sense ki. Gohan and Vegeta easily see through it.
* EdibleThemeNaming: Abo and Kado sound like "Avocado", even more so in Japanese where the "b" and "v" sounds are identical.
* EvilLaugh: Weaponized with the "Wahaha no Ha!!"
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Originally they were of the same rank as the Ginyu Force but received less favoritism from Frieza than them. After the Force was defeated and Frieza died, they became just as strong and dangerous as their boss.
* {{Jerkass}}: Aka doesn't care about innocent bystanders or their hotels when he fights, although the only people he purposefully targets besides Gotenks are Tarble and Gure, who Abo and Kado came to Earth to get in the first place.
* MakeMeWannaShout: The OVA shows three different versions of an attack Aka uses, all involving his mouth. The second involves him holding up an energy ball, which he then enhances by speaking or laughing through it.
%%* SiblingFusion: Into Aka.
* SortingAlgorithmOfEvil: These two are roughly as powerful as Frieza by the time of the OVA. However, [[LensmanArmsRace since the OVA takes place after Buu has been defeated]], that means they're barely a threat to the protagonists, [[LampshadeHanging something which the narrator comments on at the end]].
%%* SpikesOfVillainy: On Aka's face, shoulders, and arms.
* TheGlassesComeOff: They discard their scouters when performing their "secret" move.
* WeakButSkilled: They are not particularly strong but prove to be better fighters than base Goten and Trunks in the OVA. It is only after Gohan gives them instructions that Trunks and Goten are able to overwhelm Abo and Kado.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Abo and Kado's fate is not mentioned after the Tarble OVA, which is weird considering both times the Frieza Force has returned to the spotlight. Considering they were on good terms with Goku and friends at the end of the OVA, it's likely Abo and Kado simply retired from the force.

->'''Voiced by (Japanese):''' Creator/RyuseiNakao\
'''Voiced by (English):''' Creator/RichardStevenHorvitz (''VideoGame/DragonBallLegends'')

A space pirate and the main antagonist from the TV special, ''Anime/DragonBallEpisodeOfBardock''. He is an ancestor of Frieza, but, since it's not clear how long his species live for, it's also not clear how distant of an ancestor he is.
----
* BadBoss: Quite possibly even worse than Frieza himself; at one point, he nonchalantly kills one of his minions for simply blocking his view, and that was when he was in a ''good'' mood.
* CastingGag: He's a dimunitive, but incredibly malevolent and power-hungry alien voiced by Creator/RichardStevenHorvitz, bringing to mind his iconic role as the eponymous character in WesternAnimation/InvaderZim.
* CallForward: Before he dies, he tells his crew to warn his family of the threat of the Super Saiyan.
* {{Expy}}: Chilled is the second Frieza clone in the franchise after Cooler and not the last (see [[Characters/DragonBallUniverse6MajorCharacters Frost]]). Like Cooler, he is also related to him by blood.
* FamilyThemeNaming: As a part of Frieza's family, his name has a cold temperature theme.
* GenerationXerox: Many of his personality flaws, his hunger for becoming a GalacticConqueror as well as his impressive power seems to have passed on to Frieza.
* TheGhost: In ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse2'', a Time Patroller named Jierra who belongs to Frieza's race recalled fighting against him and almost defeating him, but had to stop since they needed him in order to pass on Frieza's family the legend of the Super Saiyans. He also called him annoying. This is interesting to note as this is the only nod to Chilled outside of ''Heroes'', as the ''[[Anime/DragonBallEpisodeOfBardock Episode of Bardock]]'' is considered a WhatIf story.
* HateSink: He lacks the suave charisma of his descendent Frieza and mostly comes off as a petty, sadistic, and obnoxious bully. In light of Bardock's failure to protect Planet Vegeta from Frieza, Chilled's unlikability makes it especially cathartic when Bardock [[CurbStompBattle viciously smears him across the ground like a wet paper towel]].
* {{Jerkass}}: He is very nasty, arrogant, and ruthless, like Frieza as well.
* KickTheDog: Callously attacking Berry, nearly killing him.
* MeaningfulName: His name fits the Frieza Clan's cold temperature theme, but chilling something sounds much less severe than freezing it. This seems to intentionally foreshadow that Chilled is much smaller fry compared to Frieza.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler:''Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultra God Mission'' reveals that he wiped out the Glass Tribe in the distant past, sparing only Lagss (Hearts' enforcer) and Vidro (Aeos's enforcer). With assistance from [[StarCrossedLovers Yamcha, Vidro]] gets payback against Chilled during the Space-Time Tournament after Demigra summons him alongside various other villains.]]
* PintSizedPowerhouse: His age is unclear, but he's significantly smaller (and rounder) than the other members of his race. Is implied, however, that he already had offspring by the time of his death, meaning he is older than he looks.
* SecondaryColorNemesis: Purple skin and orange clothing? Check. Ruthless, evil conqueror? Check.
* SpacePirates: Chilled is a space pirate, and his army is quite small compared to what would later be the Galactic Trade Empire that both King Cold and Frieza rule over.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: His face is exactly like that of Frieza, and his smaller size and other features distinguish him. Bardock even lampshades this.
* SuperpowerfulGenetics: Apparently Frieza's power is hereditary. However, he was considerably weaker than his descendants.
* VillainousBreakdown: He has an almighty one when Bardock goes Super Saiyan and starts fighting back. It almost puts Frieza's circumstantially similar breakdown in the Namek arc to shame.
