%%Zero Context Example entries are NOT allowed on wiki pages. All such entries have been commented out. Add context to the entries before uncommenting them.

%%There is no correct reason to put the name of a trope in spoiler tags. If the name of the trope constitutes a spoiler, either don't add it to begin with or pothole it from a related trope entry. The point of this page is to convey information; an entry that is completely spoilered out does not achieve this. See Administrivia/HandlingSpoilers for further details.

* ActionGirl: A whole AmazonBrigade of them, though there have been male Claymores in the past. It didn't work out.
* TheAgeless: Claymores do not age past physical maturity. [[spoiler:It appears that the source material for the Claymores, the Asarakam, can simply live for 200 years and pass this on to their 'descendants'. They do not appear to age during this time period.]]
* BadassCape: Claymores have capes as part of their usual uniform.
* BFS: Note the title. Miria notes the swords are made of unknown metals and too large and heavy to be forged for killing yoma. They were actually created with the intent of slaying Asarakam.
* BlessedWithSuck: Acquire superhuman abilities, but risk transforming into monsters and have to live with a gash down the front of their bodies.
* BodyHorror: Each and every Claymore has a stitched-together open wound from when they were "treated" (read: infused with yoma flesh and blood) running down the front of their bodies - one that can never heal unless they Awaken.
* BountyHunter: Their services to mankind do not come free of charge.
* BrokenBird: Every. Single. One. [[spoiler:Which is why they are used as Claymore test subjects, as the more traumatized they are the more powerful they tend to be.]]
* TheCorruptible: All Claymores are in danger of giving in to their SuperPoweredEvilSide whenever they tap into their yoma half for a power boost.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Since the Organization usually picks up orphans and homeless kids to turn into warriors, and since the Claymore-verse is a CrapsackWorld to begin with, you can bet that every single Claymore has an angsty backstory.
* DemonSlaying: Well, yoma and Awakened Beings.
* DetectEvil: Claymores can sense yoma energy, which is what gives yoma, Awakened Beings, and Claymores their power.
* DyingAsYourself: A black card is a signal to a close companion that a given Claymore wants to do this.
* EnemyDetectingRadar: All Claymores have the ability to detect yoma and the energy they emit. Amongst themselves, they have TheForceIsStrongWithThisOne. This is mentioned again in the characters who specialize in it.
* EyeColorChange: The eyes of a Claymore are silver until they use their yoma powers; this turns their eyes gold.
* GuttedLikeAFish: Their bodies are slashed open from the private parts up to the throat in order for them to be infused with yoma flesh and blood, then stitched back together because that particular wound will never heal.
* HalfHumanHybrid: They are humans who were infused with the blood and power of yoma.
* HealingFactor: Losing a limb is usually only a minor, temporary inconvenience to a Claymore. However, they can't heal injuries from before they became Claymores.
* HellishPupils: When a Claymore taps into 10% or more of their yoma power, their pupils turn into vertical slits.
* HeWhoFightsMonsters: They're well aware of it though, but...
* HulkingOut: If they draw on 50% or more of their yoki, their muscle mass will increase significantly, often causing them to shred their uniforms.
* ICannotSelfTerminate: Claymores will frequently invoke this trope when they think their SuperpoweredEvilSide is getting too strong.
* ImplausibleFencingPowers: Most of the higher ranking Claymores can do this or have a special technique or two in their swordsmanship that's quite amazing.
* Irony: yoma energy (yoki), is powered by
* MeaningfulAppearance: The "treatment" turns their eyes a silvery grey, hence the name "Silver Eyed Witches"
* MoralEventHorizon: The act for a Claymore from which there's no turning back from, is the Awakening and eating someone's guts. When an awakened Miata was out of control with hunger, she harpooned a pair of soldiers to eat them. To prevent her from falling into the moral abyss, Claymores attacked her to rescue the soldiers while Clarice gave her life to restore her self-control.
* MysticalWhiteHair: As Half Human Hybrids, they all have a "discolored" look: pale skin, grey eyes and white hair, although the whiteness of the hair depend on their original hair color and the success of the implantation.
* NightmareFace: Drawing on 30% of their yoma power gives them prominent facial veins and shark-like teeth.
* NoSell: Harsh climates have no effect on them. Besides her colored hair, Clarice is also defective in that she doesn't have this resistance. Additionally, alcohol (and possibly other toxins) can be resisted if a Claymore uses their yoma power. Eventually this leads to a DrinkingContest at the end of the series where Claymores suppress this.
* AnOddPlaceToSleep: Claymores are trained to sleep by planting their swords into the ground and sitting upright while leaning against it. In fact, it was shown that they are so accustomed to this that they have actually have problems sleeping in regular beds.
* PowerDyesYourHair: Being infused with yoma power bleaches a Claymore's hair, turning it platinum blonde or white.
* PowerLevels: Drawing on 10% of their yoma energy gives them golden irises with cat-like pupils; drawing on 30% gives them shark-like teeth, prominent facial veins, and a deep voice; drawing on 50% causes them to bulk up significantly. 70% is supposed to be the limit of how much power they can safely use, and drawing on more than 80% turns them into Awakened Beings.
* ThePowerOfHate: According to Dae, the stronger a person's hatred towards yoma and themselves, the more powerful a Claymore they become.
* PowerEchoes: When they draw on their yoma powers in the English dub their voices echo.
* PowerMakesYourVoiceDeep: Claymores suffer from this if they draw out more of their powers. This can be seen in original and dub.
* StatuesqueStunner: Most Claymores are quite tall.
* TheStoic: They are trained to suppress their emotions, although not all of them do so.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: When they tap into their yoma power, their irises turn yellow.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: Drawing on their yoma powers increasingly risks causing them to Awaken, and if they deliberately draw on more than 80% of their powers they will lose control.
* SuperSoldier: They were an experiment to create augmented warriors to combat draconic monsters.
* ThouShaltNotKillMuggles: The Claymores are absolutely forbidden from attacking or killing humans, without exception, even if it means getting raped or killed themselves.
* WoundThatWillNotHeal: All Claymores have an open wound that runs from their lower belly to the base of their neck, since this is where the yoma flesh is implanted into them. As this wound is received before gaining their powers, it does not heal and must be stitched shut to prevent their organs from falling out. This is danced around for most of the series until Clare is expelled from the Destroyer cocoon and her wound re-opens.
* YouAreNumberSix: Claymores are ranked from 1 to 47, and almost always mention what their number is whenever they introduce themselves to each other.
