!The Jetmen
[[folder:In General]]
* AnimalMotif: Birds, naturally. Their costume designs and first two mechas are heavily inspired by them.
* CaptainErsatz: Due to their bird motifs, the group itself is the Super Sentai version of ''Anime/ScienceNinjaTeamGatchaman''.
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: Unlike the Fivemen who are siblings, the Jetmen are [[RagtagBunchOfMisfits five unrelated people]].
* IconicSequelCharacter: Jetman is the fifteenth Franchise/SuperSentai but is considered as one of the most popular ones in the franchise.
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: A [[MilitarySuperhero military officer]] [[TheLostLenore who lost his girlfriend]] in an early Vyram attack; a rebellious, [[TheCasanova womanizing]] IneffectualLoner; a [[RichBitch rich]], [[SpoiledBrat spoiled]] [[TheOjou princess]]; a [[DorkKnight clumsy]], {{Acrofatic}} FarmBoy and an [[KidAppealCharacter immature]] {{Tomboy}} who initially is OnlyInItForTheMoney. It takes a lot of time for them to actually become a true team (specially Gai) but [[FireForgedFriends they do in the end]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ryu Tendo/Red Hawk]]
!!Ryū Tendō/[[red:Red Hawk]] | [-Actors: Kotaro Tanaka (live), Kazuo Niibori (suit, main), Hiroshi Maeda (suit, secondary)-]
[[quoteright:243:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/redhawk_2093.jpg]]
Member of the Skyforce who was given the Birdonic Waves to become the first Jetman. Too bad right after that, the Vyrams attack and he lost his girlfriend Rie Aoi. Ryū goes to lead the Jetmen, but is pretty hung up with Rie's death.
----
* AccentSlipUp: In episode 7, he briefly slips into a country accent out of shock when his grandmother reveals she's planning an arranged marriage for him to the amazment and amusement of his teammates.
* ArrangedMarriage: By his grandma, no less.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: He's the toughest and most skilled of the Jetmen. Justified by him being a Skyforce officer, and thus the only one who had any actual training before becoming a Jetman.
* BettyAndVeronica: The Betty to Gai's Veronica for Kaori's Archie. [[spoiler:He wins.]]
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: [[spoiler: Is one briefly after learning that Rie is Maria, where he loses his mind and starts believing that Rie is with him. He gets better.]]
* CombinationAttack: Preforms one with guy in their mechs. Double Jet Beam.
* CoolCar: The Jet Striker which transfroms into the team's finisher weapon, the Fire Bazooka.
* DrivenToSuicide: His efforts in avenging [[spoiler:Rie's death leads to him committing a suicide attack, using the Jet Striker on him and Radiguet. He gets better]].
* ExperiencedProtagonist: He is already a tenured military man compared to his teammates.
* FatalFlaw: His hatred towards Radiguet for [[spoiler:killing Rie]] would have doomed the Jetmen had [[spoiler:they not rescued him in time]].
* TheFirstCutIsTheDeepest: He's pretty hung up about Rie's death. [[spoiler:Later, he finds out that the villain Maria is his dead girlfriend.]]
* HeroicBSOD: He has a ''major'' one when he realizes that [[spoiler:Maria is Rie all along to the point that he's nearly DrivenToSuicide when he tries to avenge her death]]. He gets better.
* HeroicSacrifice: He attempts to [[spoiler:kill himself and Radiguet to avenge Rie]]. It doesn't work.
* HiddenDepths: The Vyram's scheme of the week in Episode 11 reveals a hidden part of each team members' personality, in Ryu's case he becomes a lazy oaf with no motivation for anything.
* InterruptedSuicide: His suicide attack [[spoiler:to avenge Rie]] is rendered moot when [[spoiler:Radiguet destroys the Jet Striker]].
* ItsPersonal: [[spoiler: Has this against Radiguet after he kills Rie, and tries to kill him in a suicide attack with the Fire Bazooka. Ironically survives because Radiguet destroys it and allows the other Jetmen to come to his rescue.]]
* LawOfChromaticSuperiority: He gets his own vehicle, the Jet Striker, which is the team's {{BFG}}, too. His Jet Hawk is also the biggest among the Jet Machines, and he's the only Jetman to have had formal training beforehand.
* TheLeader: He serves as the team's leader.
* MilitarySuperhero: He is a member of Skyforce prior to becoming Red Hawk. In fact, Jetman is supposed to be composed of Skyforce members but only Ryū received his powers when the Vyram attacks.
* NobleMaleRoguishMale: He's the straitlaced, traditionally heroic leader in contrast to the rakish, bad boy Gai.
* OfficialCouple: He initially gets engaged with Rie, [[spoiler: until she was KilledOffForReal. He and Kaori get together in the WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue]].
* PreciousPhoto: In Episode 22, he reveals he keeps a photo of Rie on him at all times secured under his wrist communicator.
* RedIsHeroic: Obvious as he is the red ranger of the team but also because he is the only experienced Sky Force operative in the group and emphasised protecting the world when trying to recruit the others.
* RedOniBlueOni: The rational and professional blue to Gai's red.
* RevengeBeforeReason: When [[spoiler:Radiguet kills Rie]], he decides to exact revenge on [[spoiler:Radiguet]] to the point that he [[spoiler:abandons the Jetman's mission to help others]]. It would have gotten himself killed [[spoiler:had Radiguet not destroyed the Jet Striker and the remaining Jetman not rescue him]].
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: He attempts to avenge [[spoiler:Rie's]] death at the hands of Radiguet. Fortunately, [[spoiler:he snaps out of it thanks to Kaori and the other Jetmen]].
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: {{Subverted|Trope}}. In the penultimate episode, he attempts to leave his comrades behind to avenge [[spoiler:Rie's death]]. However, it doesn't work and he rejoins the Jetmen for good.
* SingleTargetSexuality: Played For Drama. He is focused on Rie, while he believed she died, that he completely ignored Kaori's own attempts to win his heart. It got worst when he learns she survived and became Maria of the Vyram, her death resulting in a murder-suicidal HeroicBSOD.
* StandardizedLeader: Besides his rivalry with Gai and his coping with Rie's death, he's the usual Red colored leader.
* TakingYouWithMe: Towards the end of the series, Ryū decides to use the Jet Striker to kill [[spoiler:both himself and Radiguet in order for the former to avenge Rie's death]]. Unfortunately for him, it backfires because [[spoiler:Radiguet ends up destroying the Jet Striker and the Jetmen pull a BigDamnHeroes moment]].
* ThisIsUnforgivable: He yells "You won't be forgiven!" to Radiguet before he transforms into Red Hawk to avenge [[spoiler:Rie]].

[[folder:Gai Yuki/Black Condor]]
!!Gai Yūki/Black Condor | [-Actors: Toshihide Wakamatsu (live), Naoki Ōfuji (suit)-]
[[quoteright:242:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blackcondor_4122.jpg]]
A rebellious lone wolf who's just out to enjoy his life before his death. While accidentally struck with Birdonic Wave and being called to become a Jetman, Gai refused being ordered around, especially from someone like Ryū, but his sense of justice got over him and he ends up joining and developing that sense. He makes advances on Kaori, and while at first refused, his persistence paid off... only for him to break it up due to different lifestyles. In the end, he decided to let Kaori marry Ryū, now his best friend.
----
* AntiHero: He started off as a rebellious loner who had big issues with Ryu. He grows out of this after his CharacterDevelopment as he sees his team as TrueCompanions until the end.
* BadassBiker: Gai is already an avid biker before becoming Black Condor. His badassery is just heightened once he received his powers.
* BettyAndVeronica: The Veronica to Ryū's Betty for Kaori's Archie. [[spoiler:He ultimately loses, but on his terms.]]
* BreakoutCharacter: Gai is one of the most loved Black Rangers amongst the fandom. [[spoiler:So much that he's the guy to represent Jetman in ''Series/KaizokuSentaiGokaiger'', temporarily coming BackFromTheDead to give some life lessons to the next generation.]]
* TheCasanova: Likes to flirt with every woman he sees, including his teammate Kaori, and he knows it.
* CombinationAttack: Double Jet Beam with Ryu which they preform in their mechs.
* CoolBike: He has two, a 1991 Suzuki TS 125 R that he rides as a civilian before and after he gains his powers and a Jet Speeder as Black Condor.
* DeadAllAlong: [[spoiler:In ''Gokaiger'' the titular heroes cross paths with Gai, not realizing he's now a ghost until they stumble upon his grave.]]
* DeadGuyJunior: The "Toei TV Hero Encyclopedia" retrospective reveals that [[spoiler:Ryu and Kaori named their child after him. The questionably-canonical sequel manga has Raita and Satsuki do the same.]]
* {{Determinator}}: When Gai sets his mind to something, he lets it slip from his mind until he does it.
* DidYouJustRomanceCthulhu: [[spoiler:How did Gai return for "Gokaiger"? By using his usual charm, and card skills, to get a goddess, implied to be actual big "G" God, to briefly revive him and afterwards he plays his saxophone for her.]]
* DoesNotLikeSpam: He abhorrs Natto (fermented soybeans).
* DroppedABridgeOnHim: [[spoiler:He gets fatally stabbed almost out of nowhere in the final episode. Though it does take a while for him to bite the dust afterwards.]]
* DyingAlone: [[spoiler: He dies on the bench after seeing Ryo and Kaori's wedding.]]
* FaceDeathWithDignity: [[spoiler:Gai came close to death twice in the series (being crystallized and literally sent to Hell), and for those times, [[MortalityPhobia he was scared shitless.]] The third time he does that, he decided to not be scared against death anymore, attended Ryu and Kaori's wedding with his wounds and [[GoOutWithASmile died smiling, satisfied with his life]].]]
* GroinAttack: Mostly down against {{Mook}}s.
* GoOutWithASmile: By the end of the series, [[spoiler:he dies on the bench while smiling.]]
* HeroicWillpower: In the GrandFinale, [[spoiler:he got stabbed and yet forces himself to make it to Ryu and Kaori's wedding.]]
* Henpecked Husband: While dating Kaori, until he decides to end their relationship on good terms since he couldn't change his lifestyle for her.
* HiddenDepths: The Vyram's scheme of the week in Episode 11 reveals a hidden part of each team members' personality, in Gai's case, he becomes an extremely insecure goody two shoes who looks to Ryu for validation.
* ImageSong: ''Honoo no Condor'' ("Condor's Flame"), by Gai's actor Toshihide Wakamatsu.
* IneffectualLoner: He starts off wanting to be left alone, but given that he's one of the only people who can become Jetmen he ends up having to join the team. Eventually he drops this attitude and becomes a dependable teammate for his fellow Jetmen.
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: [[spoiler:While he truly loved Kaori, growing close to her and becoming best buds with his rival Ryu, he ends their relationship on a high note so she can be with Ryu when he needed her most.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He may be rude and insensitive, but he does care for his teammates, including Ryu.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: He scoffs at Ryu's heroism, but deep down, Gai is just as heroic and caring as his rival. Lampshaded, in episode 11, when this then hidden side of his personality gets pulled to the forefront by the villains' scheme of the week.
* TheLancer: He gets into fights with Ryū especially often early on, but the two eventually become friends and develop one of the most spectacular bromances in all of Sentai. He's also his NumberTwo and the one trusted to lead the team when he's not around.
* MrFanservice: Gai is widely popular among the female demographic.
* MusicalAssassin: He's a sax player and he kicks so much ass.
* NobleMaleRoguishMale: He's the rakish bad boy to Ryu's straitlaced traditional hero.
* NotSoInvincibleAfterAll: Yeah, [[spoiler:he survived a year of fighting against the Vyrams. Then a random mugger's stab killed him, though it's ultimately justified as the power of the birdonic waves had long faded from him and therefore he was back to being a normal human.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: The rebellious and cocky red to Ryū's blue.
* RefusalOfTheCall: At first he wants nothing to do with the Jetman, but as he was one of the people struck with the birdonic rays he doesn't have much of a choice.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: Manly Man to Raita's Sensitive Guy.
* SharpDressedMan: Tends to be dressed like this. He actually wears a full black tuxedo for his casino roulette game with Grey.
* SignatureMove: ''Condor Finish''
* SmokingIsCool: Gai is frequently seen with his cigs. [[spoiler:Even as he's dying, he has OneLastSmoke.]]
* SmokingIsEdgy: His cigarette smoking is used to play up his bad boy credentials especially in contrast to Ryu and Raita, who do not smoke.
* SourSupporter: Once Gai is finally convinced to join the Jetman, he makes it clear he's not doing it wholeheartedly.
* SpotlightStealingSquad: Out of the five Jetmen, he's the one given the most focus and characterization, beating out even Ryu.
* TemptingFate: After apprehending a purse thief on the way to Ryu and Kaori's wedding in the last episode, he slaps the thief with the purse he'd stolen while telling him to "not ruin the day for him" as he lets him off the hook. [[spoiler:The thief whips out a knife in a fit of rage and stabs him shortly after.]]
* TookALevelInKindness: After Gai learns of Ryu's [[spoiler:love drama with Maria/Rie]] and he sees Ryu stuck in HeroicBSOD, he stops being antagonistic to Ryu and starts being like a brother to him.
* UndyingLoyalty: In ''Gokaiger'' [[spoiler:he ([[DeadAllAlong being a ghost at this point]]) crosses paths with the Gokaigers (who were seeking the Jetmen). Gai is the only one Jetman who deals with the pirates and their situation, since he does not want his former Jetman teammates to be taken out of their now peaceful lives, acting like a guardian spirit of sorts for them.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: Most of the major spoilers he has here revolve around the series finale [[spoiler:and his death.]]
* WorfHadTheFlu: [[spoiler:His death in the series finale was only possible due to his powers from the birdonic waves fading away after years of not being used, therefore leaving him entirely vulnerable to being stabbed.]]
* WorthyOpponent: He comes to genuinely respect Grey, and even admits prior to their final battle that he doesn't really want a fight to the death with him and only complies because Grey [[DeathSeeker makes it clear he won't take "no" for an answer]].

[[folder:Raita Oishi/Yellow Owl]]
!!Raita Ōishi/[[gold:Yellow Owl]] | [-Actors: Ikko Tadano [[note]]Credited as Tomihisa Naruse[[/note]] (live, also secondary suit role), Hirofumi Ishigaki (suit, main)-]
[[quoteright:183:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yellowowl_5500.jpg]]
A fat farmer who at first really doesn't like fighting, even after he's struck with Birdonic Waves. [[IJustWantToBeNormal He just wants to be a farmer]]... until the Vyrams trample his farm and he ends up fighting anyway. Has a childhood friend named Satsuki whom he eventually married in the end of the series. Despite so, he used to have a crush to Kaori, but decided that she's too good for him and settles with 'being able to protect her'.
----
* {{Acrofatic}}: Even though he's overweight, Raita's still capable of going toe-to-toe with Radiguet's mooks.
* BigEater: A old tradition for Yellow Rangers. In several episodes, Raita can be seen eating with piles of empty dishes or ramen cups nearby.
* ChildhoodMarriagePromise: With a girl named Satsuki. He does marry her in the end.
** In the sequel manga they're expecting a son.
* DoggedNiceGuy: Raita has the hots for Kaori, just like Gai, but he never even gets the privilege to go out on a date with her.
* DorkKnight: Raita's clumsiness is as big as his bravery and strength.
* FarmBoy: He's a vegetable farmer by trade and is working on his farm when the Birdonic Waves hit him and he would have happily remained so had Kaori not convinced him to join the team. He keeps tending to his crop whenever he's not preforming his duties as a Jetman.
* HiddenDepths: The Vyram's scheme of the week in Episode 11 reveals a hidden part of each team members' personality, in Raita's case, [[CasanovaWannabe he begins to act almost exactly like Gai]] to his horror.
** The second to last scene of Episode 36, implies he's a big baseball fan having brought a full uniform on vacation.
* HopelessSuitor: Unlike Gai never had an actual chance with Kaori, which he is aware of from the start.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: Was like this at first, but it didn't take long for him to come around to idea.
* ImprovisedWeaponUser: One of his signature moves is hurling rocks at monsters.
* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy: The Feminine Boy to Ako's Masculine Girl.
* MeaningfulName: Ōishi means "big rock". Guess what one of his signature moves is. Oishii, a homophone, sounds like "delicious", referring to his love of food.
* RockBeatsLaser: Despite fighting alien invaders, throwing giant rocks at monsters is still an effective tactic for him.
* SelfDeprecation: He sometimes takes his natural humility and tendency to not think high of himself that far.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: Sensitive Guy to Gai's Manly Man.
* SignatureMove: ''Rock Drop''... which consists of hurling giant rocks at the enemy. He even drops rocks onto giant enemies with his Jet Machine's claw.
* StoutStrength: He is one of the more visibly fat Sentai heroes, and one of the strongest physically.
* UnskilledButStrong: Thanks to his career as a farmer, Raita already has the physical strength needed for the job when he's recruited. It takes a while for him to develop formal combat skills to go with it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Kaori Rokumeikan/White Swan]]
!!Kaori Rokumeikan/[[gray:White Swan]] | [-Actors: Rika Kishida (live), Yuichi Hachisuka (suit, main), Masato Akada (suit, secondary)-]
[[quoteright:241:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/whiteswan_9831.jpg]]
Heiress to the Rokumeikan family, at first an extremely SpoiledBrat, but eventually evolved into a nicer character, thanks to Ryū's scoldings. While at first repulsed at Gai, she ends up with him after discovering his [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold heart of gold]], but he broke up with her after introducing him to her high-class family which... pissed him off.
----
* AllGirlsWantBadBoys:
** Subverted. While she does give Gai a chance, it is Ryu to whom she is attracted.
** Also subverted when she finds a fiance in the form of an UpperClassTwit, after putting up with his Jerkass behavior for most of the episode (even stopping Gai from hitting him), she has enough when he makes a comment about the non-rich people's lives not being important.
* BettyAndVeronica: The Archie for Ryū's Betty and Gai's Veronica. [[spoiler:She chooses Ryū.]]
* DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife: The reason she joins the Jetmen is because she's bored of the life of a rich girl and is looking for something exciting.
* DudeMagnet: Sort of. Gai and Raita both want a piece of her, in their own way! [[spoiler:(Though Ryū, who wasn't originally interested in her, is the one who ultimately gets her)]]
* GirlyBruiser: Feminine and womanly? Yes. TookALevelInBadass? Yes.
* TheHeart: She's the ladylike member of the group as being in addition the middle one in a LoveTriangle.
* HiddenDepths:
** In episode 8, when dealing with Ako's greed being pushed into overdrive by the MonsterOfTheWeek, Kaori switches from her usual polite and soft tone into a stricter blunt one. Ako is visibly afraid of her.
** The Vyram's scheme of the week in Episode 11 reveals a hidden part of each team members' personality, in Kaori's case, she becomes obsessed with her wealth and can't comprehend her lesser off teammates.
* JumpedAtTheCall: Out of the four civilian Jetmen, she was the one most enthusiastic about becoming a hero to escape her daily humdrum life. Although she had a relapse at being again a SpoiledBrat after deciding she's unfit to be a warrior a couple of episodes later, this doesn't last and she's back pretty soon afterwards.
* LastGirlWins: She outlives Rie and wins Ryu's heart.
* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler: With Ryū in the epilogue.]]
* TheOjou: She comes from a wealthy family.
* SilkHidingSteel: As The Ojou, she's proper and sophisticated but as she's also a capable fighter as White Swan.
* ReligiousBruiser: In episode 4, it's implied she's Catholic by her wedding taking place in a church and by her crossing herself before running off to join the others in batttle.
* RunawayBride: From an UpperClassTwit; this lead to her jumping the MonsterOfTheWeek on a motorbike. Wearing her FairytaleWeddingDress.
* SecondLove: Being the woman Ryu marries in the epilogue.
* TakingTheBullet: Towards the end of the series, she rescues [[spoiler:Ryu]] shortly after [[spoiler:Radiguet]] tries to kill him.
* TokenRichStudent: Far and away the wealthiest of not only the Jetman recruits, but the entire team in general. Best exemplified when she buys a small fortune of expensive items including jewelry and clothes, to motivate Ako to fight while she's under the spell of a monster.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Girly Girl to Ako's Tomboy. [[spoiler: Changes over the course of the series, where she becomes less shallow and materialistic.]]
* UptownGirl: She is rich while both Ryū and Gai belong to the middle-class. This is one of the reasons her relationship with Gai doesn't work out.
* YamatoNadeshiko: She is a wife and a mother when she marries Ryu.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ako Hayasaka/Blue Swallow]]
!!Ako Hayasaka/[[blue:Blue Swallow]] | [-Actors: Sayuri Uchida (live), Shōji Hachisuka (suit)-]
[[quoteright:241:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blueswallow_7820.jpg]]
An OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent that accidentally got hit with Birdonic Waves and ends up becoming a star athlete in instant. A bit of materialistic, demanding money here and there, but she instantly got over it, realizing her own sense of justice after the first encounter with the Vyrams, joining the Jetman. She's the tomboy of the team.
----
* CoolBike: She rides a Jet Speeder motorcycle when she's not manning the Jet Bouncer's gun
* CuteBruiser: She's both strong and cute at the same time.
* HiddenDepths: The Vyram's scheme of the week in Episode 11 reveals a hidden part of each team members' personality, In Ako's case she becomes incredibly gloomy and cries at the sight of a flower because of its' short life.
* HighSchoolHustler: Prior to her CharacterDevelopment, she was quite materialistic who wanted to marry a rich man once she graduates from high school.
* HollywoodToneDeaf: She's... not very good at singing.
* IdolSinger: At the end of the series, [[spoiler:she becomes a well-known pop singer]].
* KidAppealCharacter: She's the youngest member of the team.
* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy: The Masculine Girl to Raita's Feminine Boy.
* MsFanservice: Is subjected to quite a few {{panty shot}}s.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: At first. Want to hire her for the athletic team? Give her a good salary first. Want her to join the Jetman? Pay her 1500 yen per hour! She eventually grows out of this once she realized how much a dangerous threat Vyram is.
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: Until she got hit by the Birdonic Waves...
* OutOfFocus: Definitely gets the least amount of focus episodes of all the Jetmen.
** To give you an idea: She and Gai are the only Jetmen who are only shown from the back after being hit by the Birdonic Waves; unlike Gai, however, who appears prior to the waves striking him, we don't see Ako's face until episode 2.
* SciFiBobHaircut: She sports a bob in a sci-fi heavy Sentai series.
* ShipperOnDeck: She apparently ships Ryū/Kaori
* {{Shorttank}}: Often wears a short blue tank top.

* YouGoGirl: She's an athlete in school.

[[folder:Jeff Kenzaki/Green Eagle (manga only)]]
!!Jeff Kenzaki/Jeffrey Francois Schneider/[[green:Green Eagle]]
!!! '''MANGA ONLY CHARACTER. UNMARKED SPOILERS BELOW.'''

A guitar and vocalist for the up-and-coming band "Black Eagle", Jeff was a fairly regular guy until a meteroite happened to land right in front of him. Waking up in the Skyforce infirmary, he was informed that he'd been exposed to Birdonic energy and asked to join the team, which he eagerly agreed to do. By nature, he's a sensitive and emotional person with a big heart.
----
* ButNotTooForeign: He's English, French, German, ''and'' Japanese, a quarter per each nationality to be precise.
* ContrastingSequelProtagonist: To the late Gai Yuki, who is also his {{Foil}} in many ways: Gai is a pure Japanese black Jetman themed after a condor, while Jeff is a Japanese-European green Jetman themed after an eagle. Gai is a JerkWithAHeartOfGold and TheDandy, while Jeff is a [[NiceGuy well-mannered]] guitarist with the FaceOfAThug. And lastly, Gai didn't asked to be a Jetman in the first place and had to be convinced multiple times, while Jeff becomes very gung-ho when the Jetmen invited him to join them.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: When he was a small child, the hardships Jeff's mother suffered were such that she planned a MurderSuicide and even began choking him, talking about how they could be happy in the afterlife. Fortunately, she snapped out of it and those days are long past. If you can't believe it, he says they even laugh about it. So when Ryu talks about how ''he'' and ''Kaori'' need to be the ones to kill Buma if she can't be saved, because she's ''their'' daughter, Jeff is brought to [[TenderTears tears]].
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: Ruma's last act before perishing is to fuse him with Vyram cells from Mina, the entity she was controlling. This gives him a temporary HealingFactor and later allows the team to restore life to Aya once again.
* FaceOfAThug: Kind of. He's taller than most people in Japan, and when the encountered the meteor, he was decked out in rock and roll gear with pierced ears, etc, as well as having startling blue eyes and blonde hair. The team were a bit startled when he turned out to be a cheerful, ebullient person.
* {{Fainting}}: A meteorite landed practically at his feet so passing out from shock is only natural.
* {{Fanboy}}: For Jetman, and a massive follower of Ako's career.
* HeroicSacrifice: In order to restore Aya, he consents to a risky operation in which the cells from Mina are transplanted into Aya's body and his energy transferred into her. They both survive thanks to an infusion of energy from the other Jetman and a bit of help from the other side.
* JumpedAtTheCall: He was a big fan of the Jetman (particularly Ako) and so when they told him he'd been exposed to Birdonic Waves and asked him to join the team it was a dream come true.
* NobleBirdOfPrey: He has an eagle motiff.
* OfficialCouple: He had a crush on Ako, she started out thinking he was a "Heavy-Metal Idiot". But then she saw his tender, brave, self-sacrificing side and fell for him.
* PhenotypeStereotype: Being Half-European in a manga, naturally he has blue eyes and blonde hair. He's also extremely tall compared to his friends and teammates.
* SixthRanger: ZigZagged. While he is the sixth person to join the team, with a unique colour and Ranger name to boot, its to replace a previous member.
* TenderTears: He's a ''very'' soft-hearted person.
* ThisIsSomethingHesGotToDoHimself: An interesting case. Radiguet strikes at the team by kidnapping Ryu and Kaori's baby daughter Aya and quick-raising her into the older villainess Buma. Since he's the only member of the team without a connection Aya, Jeff volunteers to take the burden off of the others' shoulders by fighting her alone. The team doesn't allow it, though.

!!Commander Aya Odagiri | [-Actor: Mikiko Miki-]
The team's superior officer and mentor. A fair but firm woman whose not afraid to join her team in the field when needed.
----
* BadassNormal: She's not a SuperSoldier like the Jetman team, but she's still manages to be this trope.
* BigGood: She's the main benefactor of the Jetman and the one responsible for organizing them to fight the Vyram.
* TheCaptain: She has the distinction of being the first female commander in the ''Super Sentai'' series. Appropriately enough, everyone calls her "commander".
* DaChief: She's the officer in Skyforce who oversees the Jetman.
* EleventhHourRanger: While she never becomes a Jetman herself, on several occasions towards the end, she goes to back up the Neo-Jetman solo against Meteor B.E.M and later she pilots Jet Garuda to join the Jetmen in battle.
* FantasticVoyagePlot: In Episode 43 the Jetman (minus Kaori) shrink Jet Icarus to go inside her body to fight Bio Dimension Beast.
* TheMentor: To the Jetman. She's the one who preps them to do battle.
* MissionControl: Her usual role for the Jetman.
* TeamMom: There are a lot of episodes where she feels more like a mother to each of the team members rather than their commanding officer, particularly in episode 36 when she takes them all on vacation. In episode 27, an old friend of hers even tells her she's "raised nice kids" in reference to the Jetmen. This is one factor that indicates how she's a superior leader to her supposed superior Ichijou, given that she managed to slowly but surely mold a bunch of civilians and her sole surviving soldier into an experienced, seamless, and effective fighting team that have beaten the Vyram time and again and far better than a trained squad of supposedly superior replacements.
* SexyMentor: She's The Mentor, strikingly beautiful, and only a few years older than the Jetman team.
* TheSmartGirl: The Jetmen don't really have a Smart Guy among them, so it's usually Aya who handles most of these aspects, acting as TheStrategist and providing the team with technical support.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Supreme Commander Akira Ichijou]]
!!Supreme Commander Akira Ichijou | [-Actor: Hideaki Tezuka-]
----
* ArcVillain: Of episodes 40-41, and even though Meteor BEM was the MonsterOfTheWeek of those episodes, Ichijou was one who drove the conflict towards the Jetmen with his replacement team.
* BadBoss: Treats his Neo-Jetmen as expendable, even hurting them when they retreated from battling Meteor BEM and leaving them to die when the monster attacked headquarters.
* DirtyCoward: When Meteor BEM barged in the main control room that he was in, Ichijou told the monster to stay back and threw objects before being injured.
* EvilIsPetty: When Aya told him to fire her, Ichijou declined, telling her that she would suffer like he did.
* GreenEyedMonster: Feeling extremely envious of Odagiri, Ichijou felt that the commander's position was supposed to be his and established the Neo-Jetmen to take her position.
* HateSink: In a series where the villain faction is led by abusive and sadistic backstabbers towards even each other who do many horrible things, this guy stands out as truly detestable due to as an immoral sociopath even though he's supposed to be on the side of good.
* HumansAreBastards: Aya told Ichijou of how much of a pathetic excuse of a human individual he was with how he treated her and everyone else.
* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: Had his Neo-Jetmen boot out the Jetmen and caused an extreme amount of disgust from the team and Aya.
* LackOfEmpathy: Only cared about his position and as stated by Aya, Ichijou doesn't have any human decency or remorse for his actions.
* TheNeidermeyer: Acts extremely strict and abusive towards both the Jetmen and his Neo-Jetmen, even telling the latter team to protect the base at all costs.
* TheSociopath: Ichijou [[ItsAllAboutMe only cares about himself and his career]], [[BadBoss doesn't give a damn about the Neo-Jetmen he established]], [[EvilIsPetty acts rather spiteful towards Aya]], and when Meteor BEM entered headquarters, Ichijou [[LackOfEmpathy locked his team and Aya towards the monster's location, aggressively commanding them to protect the base, not even caring that they might get killed by the monster in the process.]]
* TokenEvilTeammate: Of Skyforce as a whole, given how much of a selfish, abusive commander he was, in contrast to the Jetmen, Aya, and the Neo-Jetmen.
* TyrantTakesTheHelm: Was the one responsible for the Neo-Jetmen and took Aya's commander position to boot out the Jetmen.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Upon being attacked by Meteor BEM, he was never seen again. J1 just mentioned that Ichijou was physically fine from the attack, but wouldn't end up commanding anytime soon.

!!Neo-Jetman

A second team of Jetman created by Supreme Commander Ichijou intended to be superior to the main team and briefly replaced them when they lost their powers.
----
* AntiHeroSubstitute:
* TheLeader: J1 is the field leader of the team.
* SmugSuper: Arrogantly declare themselves superior to the recently depowered Jetman.
* TokenGoodTeammate: J1. While at first he was just as arrogant and rude to the main team as the rest of his squad but after they rescued them from their first disastrous mech battle he began treating them with far more respect, while the other Neo-Jetman kept acting like jerks. He is also clearly not on board with how his superior treats Odagiri or that he lies about the possibility of the team regaining their lost powers when he apologizes to them when his team forces them out of Sky Camp .
* UnskilledButStrong: Because they have Birdonic reactors implanted in their chests they're actually stronger then the original team before they lost their powers, however they lack their experience which is part of the reason why they decide to drain their reactors so their predecessors could resume the fight.

* CoolOldGuy: A polite and pleasant fellow whose willing aid his lady in her super heroics when needed.
* HiddenDepths: A kendo practitioner and seems have taught his lady the art.
* OldRetainer: To the Rokumeikan family having been in their serve for years and helped raised Kaori into the lady she is now.
* SoProudOfYou: Towards Kaori after she shakes of the crippling fear the Vyram had instilled in her.
* UndyingLoyalty: To the Rokumeikans, Kaori especially.

* LoveInterest: For Ako.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Goes on one against Radiguet after the Count kills his teammates. While he puts up a good fight this sadly results in his own demise.

!Dimensional War Party Vyram
[[folder:In General]]
A group of interdimensional nobles who conquered numerous worlds in the Back Dimension before setting their sights on ours next.
----
* AristocratsAreEvil: They're evil, otherworldly nobles who invade worlds for fun.
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: All of the leaders the Vyram went through (Juuza, [[spoiler:Tranza]] and [[spoiler:Radiguet]]) got there by being stronger than the other executives and claiming the throne by force.
* BigBadEnsemble: At the beginning the Vyram lacked a leader among them, so the BigBad role was more or less split between the four executives (Radiguet, Tran, Grey and Maria), though they're all competing to become leader by seeing who can kill the Jetmen.
* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: The Zone from ''Series/ChikyuuSentaiFiveman'' were a league of alien invaders all unified towards the same goal, while the Vyram are interdimensional invaders with no centralized leadership who feud with each other almost as much as they do the heroes they fight.
* DeadlyDecadentCourt: Evil nobles who plot against each other just as much as they do the heroes.
* DimensionLord: They already took over their own home universe of the Back Dimension before coming to ours.
* EnemyCivilWar: They're more-or-less engaged in a cold war for most of the series, as they're all competing to become leader by defeating the Jetmen. It later gets hot when [[spoiler:Juuza arrives and the executives all rebel against her, and gets hot again when Tranza takes power and Radiguet and the others begin scheming against him.]]
* EvilWillFail: There are numerous where one of the Vyram has the Jetmen on the cusp of the defeat, only for the other executives to sabotage them so [[TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou they can be the one to defeat the Jetmen]].
* TheStarscream: Any time someone actually becomes leader of the Vyram, the other executives all become this in turn, as they want to be leader as well.

One of the Vyram elites spearheading the attack of Earth. He thinks of nothing and nobody but himself, not even his queen, and would pull every dirty trick available to make himself the supreme ruler of the universe, including betrayal. And he's not above betraying his fellow Vyrams.
----
* ArchEnemy: He's this to the Jetman in general, but Ryu and him share a special hatred of each other. Among the ''Super Sentai'' main villains, he stands as one of the most personal in the franchise.
* AristocratsAreEvil: While all of the Vyram are elitist nobles, Radiguet stands out as a particularly cruel. He's also the only one to have an aristocratic title, as ''Count'' Radiguet.
* AttackItsWeakPoint: [[spoiler:Prior to his final battle with the Jetman team's HumongousMecha, he gets a weak spot on his back, from the sword stab Maria/Rie gave him in her last act, which is amplified to a massive wound when he transforms into his Raguem form. The Jetman piloting Jet Icarus succeed in killing him by stabbing his back with the Birdonic Saber while Ryu holds him in place with Jet Garuda to ensure he won't escape]].
* BigBad: [[spoiler:Ultimately, he becomes the show's undisputed main villain having usurped all the others. He also stands as the Jetman's most personal enemy during the series as well having put them though immense horrors even before he officially claimed the title.]]
* BloodFromTheMouth: He coughs up blood after [[spoiler: he is fatally stabbed in the back by Jet Icarus]].
* BodyHorror: As Raguem, his [[BellyMouth head located on his stomach]] with his face transitioning from its usual vistage to Radigan's.
* ChekhovsGun: In episode 17, Empress Juuza punishes the traitorous Radiguet by erasing his memories and giving him a human form before banishing him to Earth, to have him live as a "human vermin". Radiguet not only recovers from this very soon, but ends up using his human form much later [[spoiler:to trick Ryu into helping him defeat Tranza]].
* ContrastingSequelAntagonist:
** To Captain Garoa, each being their leader's righthand and bear a grudge on a red ranger for an attack on the face. But Garoa has UndyingLoyalty to Meadow with a [[RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver red and black color scheme]] and suffers VillainDecay that ultimately turns him into a ButtMonkey, Radiget is [[TheStarscream treacherous]] with blue and silver color scheme who manages to take over Vyram.
** To Vulgyre, each being a FinalBoss who manipulated heroes and villains alike to suit his goals and fights the former in an EldritchAbomination form with the villians' base intergrated in it. But Vulgyre is a LivingShip that intentionally evolved into his Super Galactic Beast form, while Radiget's Raguem form was an unexpected side-effect of asborbing Veronica's energies and converted the Vylock into protective armor.
* DeadHatShot: When he's finally destroyed, the only thing left is his helmet.
* DemotedToDragon: He was the biggest contender for BigBad early into the series, but after Juuza arrives he's forced to serve her again. [[spoiler:Up until the Jetmen defeat her and he finishes her off an episode later, that is.]] Later, [[spoiler:he gets demoted again under Tranza, though he ends up usurping Tranza too.]]
* TheDragon: He's Juuza's favored minion and is even referred by her as her "best servant". At least until he tries backstabbing her...
* DragonAscendant: [[spoiler:He's the Vyram general who makes it to the BigBad spot.]]
* DyingCurse: [[spoiler: Just as he's dying, he vows that his soul will haunt the Jetmen forever, even after death.]]
* EmbodimentOfVice: Arrogance and Pride. He considers himself superior to humans, and everyone else.
* EnemyCivilWar: [[spoiler:He and Tranza end up feuding for control of the Vyram once Tranza rapidly matures. Radiguet is the one who comes out on top.]]
* EnemyMine: Teams up with the Jetmen at least twice to take down his rivals for the BigBad spot.
* EvilerThanThou: [[spoiler:Both Juuza and Tranza ultimately learned why underestimating him is a bad idea.]]
* FinalBoss: [[spoiler:He ends up becoming the very last threat the Jetmen has to fought... and how, it shows!]]
* AGodAmI: He claimed himself as a god when issuing Vyram's invasion declaration to Earth and curses Ryu for making him spill his "sacred blood" when he scarred his face. [[spoiler: He also claimed his "holy body was invincible" during the final battle, after his merger with the Vylock.]]
* TheHeavy: He's the most proactive of the Vyram and tends to take into the field often to get involved directly in whatever plan he's concocting or whatever battles he has to attend.
* IfICantHaveYou: [[spoiler: Inflicts this on Maria, with fatal results.]]
* IHaveYouNowMyPretty: His interactions with Maria border on this quite often, as he's almost always touching her face and reminding her she belongs to him.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice:
** At the conclusion of his battle with the Jetmen, [[spoiler:Ryu distracts Radiguet long enough for the Jet Icarus to stab the Birdonic Saber in his stomach]].
** And before that, [[spoiler:he was already backstabbed with a sword by Maria/Rie, which doesn't immediately kill him but gives him the weak spot in his back that enables Ryu to kill him with the Jet Icarus' Birdonic Saber]].
* ItsAllAboutMe: Screw the rest of the Vyram. Radiguet wants to take everything for himself, even from his fellow elites.
* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: He's a horrible monster, and will never accept that there could be a nice guy underneath that. [[KickTheDog It won't end well for the one who suggests it]]. There are moments where he'll show some sympathetic, noble, and humane qualities with Saki and Ryu but in the end, he'll always go back to being a ruthless bastard who takes the low road.
* KarmicDeath: He figuratively backstabs a female Vyram (his former boss, Empress Juuza) and indirectly defeats her by [[spoiler:telling the Jetmen to [[AttackItsWeakPoint attack her weak point]] (the gem on her forehead)]]. How does he die? [[spoiler:After gaining a weak point on his back, by being literally backstabbed by a former female Vyram, the Jetmen attack him in that wound]].
* KickTheMoralityPet: [[spoiler:While rendered an amnesic human by Juuza, he was found by Saki and fell in love with her, curing her fatal illness. Then he got his memory back and helped the Jetman defeat Juuza, later killing her in her weakened state. When Saki pleas Radiguet to not forsake his gain humanity, he kills her. There's no regrets afterwards unlike the others in this trope, [[ButForMeItWasTuesday he treats it like just another Tuesday of his glorious, evil bastard life]] and continues with his Semimaru evil plan like nothing happened.]]
* KnightOfCerebus: In general, his plans tend to be much darker than his fellow Vyram officers.
* ManipulativeBastard: If he fell off the villain threat level (due to Juuza or Tranza), he usually resorts to this to get back to the top of the food chain, usually using the Jetmen as his pawns.
* MeaningfulName: "Radiguet" was also the last name of a French author who wrote a book called "Devil in the Flesh," which describes this Radiguet well.
* MinorInjuryOverreaction: During their first fight, Ryu manages to leave a cut on his face, causing him to go berserk.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: His cruel manipulation of Rie is what ultimately spelled his defeat; if she hadn't stabbed him, he wouldn't have had a weak point and the Jetmen wouldn't have been able to destroy him.
* NighInvulnerable: [[spoiler: His [[OneWingedAngel Raguem]] form is immune to Great Icarus' [[WaveMotionGun Bird Maser]], but gains a weak point due to a stab wound Rie inflicts on him before dying. He attempts to cover it with the armor formed from the Vylock, but Jet Garuda punches it off him, and grapples him long enough for Jet Icarus to impale him in the wound with the Birdonic Saber.]]
* OneWingedAngel: He has a more powerful, yet uglier form named Radigan that he transforms into when he gets really pissed. [[spoiler: He also gains a giant form later called Raguem from asborbing the Veronica's enegries, converting the Vylock base into armor in the finale.]]
* {{Pride}}: Defines him quite a lot. He takes his superiority against humans highly, and wants nothing than being on the top of the food chain and be the one to defeat Jetman, which led him to pull off several EnemyMine with the Jetman when his allies (Juza or Tranza) actually had them on the ropes, [[EvilWillFail and indirectly dooming Vyram because he's just too prideful and refuses to be someone else's subordinate or share his position with the others.]]
* RedemptionRejection: [[spoiler:After he got his memory back and killed Juuza, he had the opportunity to live among humans when Saki pleaded with him to stay with her. [[KickTheMoralityPet To say that he refused extremely understates his reaction]].]]
* RousseauWasRight: [[spoiler:While Radiguet himself is an irredeemable monster, when he has all his memories wiped and is sent down to Earth as a normal human, he actually becomes a really nice guy and even genuinely falls in love with someone. [[OhCrap Once he regains his memories, however...]]]]
* SpikesOfVillainy: In his regular blueskinned form he's the spikiest of the four Vyram and also the meanest bastard of them all.
* TechnicolorDeath: [[spoiler: After being impaled from behind by Jet Icarus, he curses the Jetmen before falling backward with the Jet Garuda, glowing with orange, firey energy and shooting out lighning in the five Jetman colors before being completely blown apart in a brilliant explosion.]]
* TheStarscream: He manages to usurp the leadership position from both Empress Juza and later Tranza.
* TheSociopath: Radiguet is a text-book example. He cares for no one but himself and intentionally sets out to hurt and cause misery to others. His ambitions, ego and total LackOfEmpathy compel him to relentlessly use both his enemies AND his would-be allies as pawns to achieve his goal of staying on top of them all.
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: While not exclusive to him, among the Vyram, he makes the biggest habit of saving the Jetmen so he can kill them himself.
* TookALevelInBadass: While he was never harmless, he still tended to fall victim to TheWorfEffect to show off a new threat like Juuza or Tranza (though he will come back to one-up them), but after draining the power from Tranza's Veronica robot, aside from the [[spoiler: OneWingedAngel]] above, he also manages to NoSell the Fire Bazooka.
* UngratefulBastard: Does owe the Jetmen for not being stuck as somebody's minion, but never changes his opinion of them, and the feeling is mutual.
* VillainHasAPoint: He's actually half right when he declares that HumansAreBastards to justify his assault, seeing that there's someone as petty as [[TheNeidermeyer Commander Ichijou]].
* VillainousCrush: On [[spoiler: Rie, hence turning her into Maria]], and a truly sick one at that, as his actions are less about having any feelings for her ([[ItsAllAboutMe he only cares about himself]]) as much as desiring to possess and control her, even if it means reducing her to a mindless beast.
* VillainousRescue: When the Jetman team are on the ropes due to Juuza and Tranza's schemes, Radiguet ends up saving the heroes twice, in order to dispose of his competitors for the position of Vyram leader, and also because [[TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou he feels he's the only one entitled to defeat the Jetmen]]. He even goes so far as to verbally encourage Ryu when the latter's determination to defeat Tranza starts faltering.

* AssholeVictim: Getting unceremoniously tortured by Radiguet until he's reduced to an EmptyShell of his former self is already horrifying in its own right. But considering how much of a bully this guy is, to say Tranza got what he exactly deserved is a massive {{understatement}}.
* BeatThemAtTheirOwnGame: After [[spoiler:becoming Tranza]], the first thing he does is to prove that he's a better fighter than Ryu, cooler than Gai and a [[BigEater bigger eater]] than Raita.
* BigBadWannabe: Came '''VERY''' close to becoming the true BigBad, [[spoiler:but Radiguet managed to wrest the spot from him in the end.]]
* BlackCloak: He wears a black mantle that encompasses most of his body.
* BreakTheHaughty: Oh boy does he get ''very'' broken. [[spoiler: Already badly roughed up and suffering from a ThisCannotBe moment, Radiguet takes the time [[KickThemWhileTheyAreDown to horrifically torture]] the would-be emperor, forcing latter to [[SayMyName call the former as "Radiguet''-sama''"]], just like Tranza did to him before. 392* CoolShades: Wears a black visor in his kid form. He later loses it once [[spoiler:he becomes an adult.]]
* CreepyChild: Despite being a child, he's definitely the most creepy member of the Vyram behind Radiguet and possibly Juuza. He mostly just wants to satisfy his desire for fun, even if it means tormenting others.
* DarkIsEvil: While his outfit does have some white in it, it's mostly black. He also has a [[SinisterShades black visor]].
* TheEmperor: As ''Emperor'' Tranza.
* EnemyCivilWar: With Radiguet once [[spoiler:he becomes Emperor Tranza and boots him out. Ultimately loses when Radiguet helps the Jetman defeat him.]]
* EvilGenius: Has impressive PsychicPowers and is a pretty competent schemer for a child.
* FateWorseThanDeath: [[spoiler: He ends up completely insane and locked up in a mental asylum after being humiliated by Radiguet.]]
* HumanAliens: He stands out among the four Vyram elite by looking like a human, while Radiguet has blue skin and thus clearly alien, Grey is a robot alien and Maria [[spoiler:is actually fully human]]. His visor is not part of his head (he takes it out prior to growing up into Tranza). Although he does display special powers of his own, he lacks OneWingedAngel forms like Radiguet or Juuza. [[spoiler: When he as Tranza winds up as a drooling and screaming vegetable following his brutal defeat by the Jetmen, and subsequent physical and mental torture by Radiguet, the doctors observing him don't mention anything weird about his physiology, other than brain damage]].
* KidAppealCharacter: Villainous version as Tran, being the only kid member of the Vyram.
* KidsAreCruel: Tran — he's going to bully the entire mankind for his own amusement.
* KnightOfCerebus: Empress Juuza may have established the darker tone and Radiguet may have darker plans overall, but Tran's [[spoiler:growth into Emperor Tranza]] marked the end to the series' overall comedic tone and set the stage for the rapidly darkening finale.
* PlotRelevantAgeUp: [[spoiler:The taunts of the other Vyram eventually forces him to trigger his rapid maturity into Tranza through force of will.]]
* PsychopathicManchild: His mentality after evolving into Tranza just got even worse as he enjoys making everyone's lives a living hell for his own sick pleasure.
* RoyalRapier: As Tranza, his personal weapon (called "Boltranza" in additional material) takes on this shape.
* SoleSurvivor: [[spoiler:Radiguet spares his life only to spend the rest of his days as a powerless human and in a vegative state. While a act of sadism, Radiguet unknowingly made him only surviving member of the Vyram high command.]]
* TagalongKid: For the Vyram, considering he's just a child while the other Vyram are adults, which naturally leads to them all looking down on him.
* TookALevelInBadass: Before while he was never harmless as Tran, he was never as much of a threat as the rest of the Vyram. [[spoiler: As Tranza, the first things he does are solo the Jetmen and then the rest of the Vyram and establish himself at the BigBad. He's only defeated in the end because Radiguet helped Ryū defeat him.]]

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/grey_3.jpg]]

* AffablyEvil: Grey is just as much of a ruthless conqueror as his fellow Vyram elites, but [[EvenEvilHasStandards he has no intentions to mock any of his friends or enemies whatsoever]] (except Tran after he proved annoying enough). He is even on good terms with his rival Gai [[spoiler:who finds him so likeable that in their last battle it takes Grey forcing his hand so they can turn their duel into one to the death as Gai stated outright he didn't want to end him]].
* AlienBlood: Shows green blood (or oil) [[spoiler:when Gai stabs him at the end of their FinalBattle]].
* AntiVillain: [[SlidingScaleOfAntiVillains Type I]]. A contrast from his rival Gai.
* ArmCannon: Has machine gun blasters built into his forearms.
* BirdsOfAFeather: Him and Maria have a shared love of music, arts and combat, which is why they get along so well and implicitly fall in love.
* TheBrute: A skilled warrior and the Vyram member who usually takes to the field when power is needed. Interestingly enough, his personality contrasts his strength as he is placid, thoughtful, affable and honorable; especially compared to the more petty and cruel fellow Vyram elites.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Is in love with Maria and unlike Radiguet, he actually cares about her beyond a lustful possessive attraction. [[spoiler: Even when she is reverted back to her human form and turns good, he still loved her and stayed with her in her final moments after she begged Ryu to leave her to die and forget about her, allowing her to pass on peacefully.]]
* FingerSnapLighter: His lighter is literally built into his hand.
* {{Foil}}: To Gai. They're quite similar, in that they smoke, drink, gamble and love women [[spoiler: who they didn't get in the end. And they also die similarly, fatally stabbed but [[GoOutWithASmile happily]], without regrets.]] However, Gai is undoubtedly a good guy, if an AntiHero, while Grey is a bad guy, although more of an AntiVillain.
* GracefulLoser: [[spoiler:When Gai finally defeats and kills him in episode 50, he condones his rival for his success and dies at peace after Gai helps him light up his last cigar.]]
* HeelFaceDoorSlam: [[spoiler: He dies peacefully on episode 50 after swearing off the Vyram cause, simply because without Maria/Rie around to serve as a reason to live, he feels no motivation to go on either as a good or bad guy.]]
* {{Irony}}: Despite being a robot among villains who look like humans beside their costumes (and skin color in Radiguet's case), he ends up being the most human out of all the Vyram.
* LadyAndKnight: The Black Knight to Maria's Dark Lady. He develops feelings for her and comes to her defense when she's attacked by the Jetmen a few times.
* LastVillainStand: [[spoiler:He doesn't bothers supporting Radiguet as the leader once Maria/Rie dies and instead fights Gai one-on-one to settle the score in a duel to the death that he forces Gai to engage into, as he has nothing else left to live for.]]
* LightsOffTheirEyes: Unusually for a Toku villain (especially for a robotic one) [[spoiler: DefeatEqualsExplosion is not in effect, and he quietly powers down after Gai fatally stabs him and lights his last cigar.]]
* MeaningfulName: His color scheme also happens to be mostly grey. He's also rather gray in the moral scale as well, not being a blackhearted monster like Radiguet but also not a good guy either.
* NobleDemon: The only member of the Vyram who's not entirely malicious. Grey has [[ProudWarriorRaceGuy a warrior's sense of honor]], has [[WickedCultured a taste for things like fine wine and classical music]], eventually develops feelings for his fellow Vyram elite Maria, and is [[AffablyEvil a pretty friendly guy]] to be around otherwise.
* OneLastSmoke: [[spoiler:After Gai inflicts a fatal wound on him, he tries to light himself a cigar one last time but finds he can't raise his arm high enough. Gai then lights it for him.]]
* PreFinalBoss: [[spoiler:Granted it's only Gai who fights him, but his fight comes immediately before the FinalBattle against Radiguet.]]
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: Grey considers himself first and foremost a warrior, and has the pride of such. He's not above using underhanded tactics or setting up things to his advantage in normal combat, but if he incurs in a duel or competition under a strict set of rules, or if he gives his word to abide some sort of deal with an enemy, he will honor it.
* TheQuietOne: While he certainly can speak, he's not a guy of many words, prefering just being silent most of the time.
* RidiculouslyHumanRobot: He loves cigarettes, wine, music, and Maria!
* TheRival: To Gai. The two clash several times throughout the show and [[spoiler:Grey's FinalBattle is a one-on-one duel with Gai.]]
* ShoulderCannon: His robotic body includes some kind of laser cannon that he normally carries on his back, but deploys it over his shoulder to actually fire it.
* SmokingIsCool: So much that [[spoiler:[[OneLastSmoke Grey smokes as he dies from fighting against Gai Yuuki/Black Condor]].]]
* TearsFromAStone: Grey actually sheds tears when [[spoiler: Maria/Rie dies. And his tears transform her corpse into little lights scattered by the winds.]]
* TragicRobot: [[spoiler:He's a robot, but he's arguably the most human of the Vyram. His final stand, unlike Radiguet and Tranza's respective ones, is played for tragedy as even Gai doesn't wants to kill him and Grey forces his hand as without Maria he has nothing left to live for.]]
* WickedCultured: Drinks red wine, smokes fancy cigarettes, listens to (and learns to play) classical music on a phonograph, always makes sure his equipment is polished, and plays roulette.
* WorthyOpponent: Sees Gai as this, to the point where [[spoiler:he's content to die in a duel against him, [[GracefulLoser genuinely commending]] Black Condor for defeating him.]]

[[folder:Maria]]
!!Maria[[spoiler:/Rie Aoi]] [-Actor: Maho Maruyama-]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/maria_jetman2.jpg]]

* AlasPoorVillain: [[spoiler:She was the lover of TheHero who was captured and brainwashed at the start of the series while he believed her dead. Poor girl, she was manipulated (and even turned into a bloodthirsty vampire monster) for almost the entire series and only ever achieved [[RedemptionEqualsDeath some little redemption by dying]] [[DyingAsYourself as herself]]. And she [[DidNotGetTheGirl didn't get the guy]], or any guy, not even a chance of happiness with Grey.]]
* AmbiguousSituation: It's unclear if she actually died and was brought back by Radiguet as a villain, or if he just snatched her as she was sucked up by the vortex of space and brainwashed her afterwards.
* TheBaroness: She's beautiful, [[IceQueen cold]] to her allies (well, [[AHouseDivided if we can call the Vyram that]]...), [[{{Sadist}} cruel]] to her enemies, fights often with [[WhipOfDominance a whip]] not unlike a {{Dominatrix}}, she is a [[DarkActionGirl legitimate threat to the Jetmen in combat]], and has [[AmbitionIsEvil evil ambitions]] of conquest of her own. Oh, and she still has a few guys (from both sides of the conflict, no less) [[DudeMagnet carrying torches for her]]. She more than qualifies...
* BeyondRedemption: [[spoiler:What ''she'' sees herself as, when Ryu tries to help her after she recovers her memories as a human for the last time, she proclaims that she has done too much evil to join the good guys' side or be a human anymore and goes back to Radiguet's side... This turns out to be just a ruse to stab him in the back as payback for what he did to her, but when she is mortally wounded in turn, she rejects Ryu's help in trying to save her and basically begs him to forget about her and leave her to die, implicitly seeing her death as her punishment for the evil deeds she carried out as Maria, better reflected in her last moments where she laments being unable to reunite with Ryu as she dies in Grey's arms.]]
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler: She had her memories wiped by Radiguet to convert her into a member of the Vyram. Downplayed in that she has no loyalty whatsoever to Radiguet even after he brainwashes her (and twice at that). Instead, she believes to be yet another Vyram elite destined to conquer and rule Earth for herself.]]
* ChekhovsGunman: [[spoiler:She inflicted a mortal injury on Radiguet's body that allowed the Jetmen to finally kill him.]]
* DarkActionGirl: Maria is very powerful, to the point of being able to go toe-to-toe with the Jetmen.
* DudeMagnet: Grey is in love with Maria, and Radiguet desires her for himself, [[spoiler: so much that he forcibly brainwashed her into evil.]] And then there's [[spoiler: Ryu with who she was in a relationship with before her "death".]]
* DyingAsYourself: [[spoiler:After she regains her memories of her old self, Radiguet kills her when she stabs him in the back. She spends her last moments reluctantly rejecting Ryu so he won't bother to save her, as she feels so much remorse over her evil deeds that she feels she doesn't deserves any redemption]].
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Despite her cold demeanor, she did seem to genuinely care for Grey and it was implied she might have returned his feelings. [[spoiler:So much that as Rie, despite her painful final moments, she finds a semblance of peace dying in Grey's arms.]]
* EvilGenius: Downplayed most of the time, but she's the one who created the Bio Dimensional Bugs the Vyram use to upgrade their MonsterOfTheWeek later on.
* FallenHero: [[spoiler:She was one of the original members of Skyforce and was set to become White Swan, at least until she was lost in the Vyram's first attack and was later found and {{Brainwashed}} by Radiguet.]]
* ILetGwenStacyDie: [[spoiler:While Ryu manages to help her regain her memories, he ultimately fails to save her and the guilt of it greatly affects him until [[SecondLove Kaori]] helps him heal.]]
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: [[spoiler:Mortally wounded, she pleas Ryu to forget about her, move on, and be happy.]]
* LadyAndKnight: The Dark Lady to Grey's Black Knight.
* TheLostLenore: [[spoiler:She's Rie Aoi, Ryu's love interest in the first episode who was seemingly [[ThrownOutOfTheAirlock killed]] in the first Vyram attack on the Skyforce station. Ryu believes her dead but still doesn't get over her demise, until he watches Maria reverting to her human form much later. Only for her to actually [[KilledOffForReal perish for real]] some episodes later and becomes this to ''Grey'' in the process, leading to the latter's last stand against Gai as he has nothing else left to live for.]]
* OurVampiresAreDifferent: Gets turned into a vampiress by Radiguet's blood parasite in the last arc of the series, with the intent to make her more powerful and simultaneously slowly brainwash her into Radiguet's slave.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: She dies in her efforts to [[spoiler:kill Radiguet, though she considers herself irredeemable regardless of her atonement]].
* TheseHandsHaveKilled: [[spoiler:Even if not on the verge of death, Rie tells Ryu that she killed too many people as Maria to return to a normal life.]]
* UnknownRival: It’s clear none of the others take her seriously in the competition for leadership and it’s implied even if she were to win they wouldn’t follow her anyway. [[spoiler:Likely because unlike them she’s a full human.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: Considering she's [[spoiler:Rie Aoi, Ryu's original lover]].
* WhipOfDominance: She's a [[IceQueen cold]], {{sadist}}ic DarkActionGirl who wields a whip called "[[NamedWeapons Necrod]]" in combat. It can actually [[MorphWeapon adopt gun, sword and whip forms]], but [[WeaponSpecialization the whip seems to be her main weapon]].
* WickedCultured: She likes to play the piano, [[spoiler:which is a memento of her past life as Rie]].

[[folder:Empress Juuza]]
!!Empress Juuza | [-Actor: Sachiko Takato-]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/empress_juza.jpg]]
* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: Her subordinates detest serving her after her return, and only do so out of fear for just how powerful she is.
* AGodAmI: A God complex with a side of EvilMatriarch, as she fancies herself the "Mother of all Creation".
* AndIMustScream: Looks to inflict this on mankind. Her EvilPlan involved trapping dozens of people in crystal pillars so she could extract their pain to feed to Semimaru.
* AxCrazy: She's completely off her rocker, letting out a psychotic EvilLaugh at the site of dozens of people suffering.
* BadBoss: All the other Vyram commanders dislike her and her tyranny, eventually leading to [[spoiler:Radiguet rebelling and helping the Jetman to defeat her, while the others don't even bother interfering with him]].
* BigBad: Is the empress of the Vyram and the driving force behind their conquest. One she comes back it's immediately clear who's in charge. [[spoiler:Of course, she only holds the spot for two episodes, after which it goes back to the Vyram not having a straight leader]].
* ColdBloodedTorture: Inflicts this en masse by [[BodyHorror forcibly growing crystals out from underneath the skin]] of dozens of civilians, so she can collect their pain and suffering to feed to Semimaru to make it hatch.
* DimensionLord: She's the original ruler of the Back Dimension the Vyram originate from, having become its despot through conquest.
* TheDreaded: The other Vyram clearly fear her presence and even though they'd all like to be EvilOverlord, they bow before her out of fear for what she could do to them. Only Radiguet is willing to even go against her, which proves to be foolish when she immediately and easily overpowers (and depowers) him.
* TheEmperor: Or rather, the Empress.
* GreaterScopeVillain: Juuza was the original ruler of the Vyram, but for the most of the series she's absent (she claims she was regenerating and recharging her powers, after presumably millenia of waging wars and conquering worlds in her home dimension) and only actually appears for [[spoiler:two episodes before finally being killed]].
* KnightOfCerebus: For the short time she was here, she showed how dark this show can really be.
* LightIsNotGood: Has a bright white color scheme and is also a vile and ruthless tyrant.
* OneWingedAngel: Like Radiguet, it's revealed she has a monstruous, more powerful form, "Demon Empress Juuza". She lacks a gigantic final form however.
* ReportsOfMyDeathWereGreatlyExaggerated: Having gone missing during the invasion of the Back Dimsension, Radiguet and the others assumed she died. But in actuality, she focused her attention on Semimaru's development and only returned once he is about to hatch.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: [[spoiler:She lasts for all of two episodes before getting defeated.]]

[[folder:Dimensional Beasts]]
Monsters used by Vyram to carry out their invasion, created from a parasite called a Dimension Bug possessing an inanimate object.
----
* AnimateInanimateObject: A good number of them are objects brought to life by a Dimension Bug possessing them.
* MakeMyMonsterGrow: If a Dimension Bug is still intact with a Dimensional Beast is destroyed, it will revive them into a giant.
* MidSeasonUpgrade: Into the ''Bio'' Dimensional Beasts halfway through.
* MonsterOfTheWeek: Most episodes see the Jetmen going up against one.
* TheVoiceless: A few of them talk, but most of them are just snarling beasts.

!!Dimensional Bug Mother
A monster who served as the mother to the Dimension Bugs. Radiguet sent her to Earth to drain the energy from humans for her babies.
----

* HumanResources: The main reason she attacked Earth was to gather energy for her Dimension Bugs, turning any unlucky human into [[EnergyAbsorption nourishing energy for her children.]]
* SmallRoleBigImpact: A regular monster that appeared in the first two episodes, but her children are the reason why the Jetman had to contend with multiple Dimensional Beasts after her death.
* StarterVillain: The first Dimensional Beast the Jetman fought.
* WouldHarmAChild: Two young boys were among its victims.

!!Fighter Dimension

----
* {{Technopath}}: Capable of manipulating traffic signals.

----
* CombatTentacles: Used theses against the apartment tenants and Jetmen trapped inside it.
* EpicFlail: Wields a spiked mace as its main weapon.
* GeniusLoci: Started off retaining the form of the building it was created for just with organic tendrils inside until taking on a humanoid form.
* ImAHumanitarian: It eats people for breakfast.
* {{Kaiju}}: Unusual for a Sentai monster of the week as it started off as one.
* {{Shapeshifter}}: Between the innocent looking apartment building it was created from and a giant monster.
* StarterVillain: For the main mecha of the series, Jet Icarus.

* BadBoss: They kill off their servant Mu, who failed to revive them, after he lost to the Jetman and pleaded them to give him the power to exact revenge.
* TheDreaded: There's a reason they're called Humanity's Natural Enemies.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: While they feed on humans, they have no interest in Vyram's agenda if it effects their food supply.
