Protagonist of the series, a young {{delinquent}} and first year at Ishiyama High, the delinquent school. At the start of the series he already holds quite a reputation, being known as "Rampaging [[PunnyName Ogre]]" or the "Strongest Juvenile Delinquent". The story starts as he is telling his best friend Furuichi of how he first found Baby Beel. One day whilst fishing (actually, taking revenge on some gangsters who tried to kill him in his sleep), he sees a dead man floating down the river, pulls him to shore and the man splits in half revealing a baby boy. This boy is the son of the demon king and Oga soon finds he has been chosen as the one to raise it, along with the baby's maid Hilda. The story follows his life as Baby Beel's father, and the events at Ishiyama as he battles for the title of the strongest.

Oga was picked to become Beelzebub's father because he possessed the qualities of the ideal parent for the future Devil King: [[CharlesAtlasSuperpower strength]], [[{{Jerkass}} arrogance]], and a [[NominalHero think-nothing-]][[HeroicComedicSociopath of-fellow-man]] outlook. Despite this, Oga isn't completely evil: he only really bullies those stupid enough to attack him in the first place and is willing to stick his neck for his TrueCompanions without a second thought. He also takes time to teach Baby Beel what it means to be a "real man" (when he's not trying to get rid of him that is). He easily gives in to flattery and is an avid ''VideoGame/DragonQuest'' fan.
----
* AntiHero: Early on, he was a pretty straight BloodKnight and NominalHero who tried passing Beel off to whoever would take him and who was lacking in any friends beyond Furuichi. However, by the end of the Ishiyama High arc he had [[CharacterDevelopment evolved]] into a JerkWithAHeartOfGold who, while still [[HeroWithAnFInGood a sadistic delinquent]], had begun to deeply care for his family and even a little bit for his friends. By the time of the Return to Ishiyama Arc, he'd [[CharacterDevelopment evolved]] into what can best be described as a [[TheSociopath sociopath's]] attempt at a standard shonen protagonist; trying to do good things, looking out for his friends, but not quite managing it because his solution to everything was still to punch things until they go away and while his moral compass ''had'' been repaired somewhat, it was still rather defective. Plus, there's still the fact that he tends to be a major dick sometimes simply ForTheLulz.
* ArtEvolution: The mangaka has started drawing Oga's face softer around the edges, making him look more and more {{Bishonen}} by each chapter. The evolution in his design is coincidentally in line with his recent character development and maturity.
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: Ishiyama recognized him as their new leader after defeating the Tohoshinki one by one. [[spoiler:In the Return to Ishiyama Arc, several other groups from different schools are vying for the top spot, and many think that his stay at a cushy rich-kid's school has made Oga soft, but given how, by Chapter 220, three of the six "upstarts" have been defeated, he's well on his way to becoming this once again.]]
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: With Hilda.After Hilda [[spoiler:lost and then regained her memories,]] each subsequent arc has several scenes that show how, despite their near-constant bickering, she and Oga deeply care for and trust one another.
* BadassAndChildDuo: Do we really need to explain this one?
* BadlyBatteredBabysitter: He's constantly getting electrocuted and, at one point, he almost has [[spoiler:his arm blown off by Beel's powers]].
** He can also die if he is outside A certain range between him and Beel.
* BattleCouple: That's what the whole school ''assumes'' him and Hilda are. As of now, they definitely fight well together. So, it's a bad idea to mess with Baby Beel if PapaWolf and MamaBear are here.
* BerserkButton: Don't interfere with his fights, don't mess with his TrueCompanions, and do NOT mess with his family.
** He went on a RoaringRampageOfRescue to get [[spoiler:Hilda]] back, and inflicted a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown on Takamiya [[spoiler: after he killed Furuichi.]] And Nasubi brought his beating down upon himself when he talked about [[spoiler:using Beel as a magic battery and not as a person.]]
* BloodKnight: He has even started some fights (or at least tried) that were really unnecessary.
** This is how he gained most of his human enemies.
* BlueWithShock: He often ends up like this to the antics of others, especially Beel early in the manga.
* BodyHorror: When Baby Beel gets too excited and his powers go haywire, [[spoiler:Oga's arm swells up and almost explodes]].
* BottledHeroicResolve: Beel's demonic formula milk.
* CallingYourAttacks: [[Franchise/StreetFighter "Shouryuken!" "Psycho Crusher!"]]
** In one episode, he calls out Beel's attacks in a manner similar to a wrestling announcer.
* CelibateHero: While Oga comes across quite [[ChasteHero cluessless]] when it comes to romance, he also actively shuns it when it concerns him. In the side story, when Hebisaki tries to court Oga, he literally runs away and hides. [[spoiler:And when Hilda loses her memories and falls in love with him, he runs out of the house screaming. The next day he dedicates trying to bring back her memories, to the point of making her cry.]]
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: He is abnormally strong even without Beel's powers. This is the whole reason he's been able to survive as his parent so far.
* ChickMagnet: For some reason (and to Furuichi's utter dismay). He himself is completely oblivious to it (at least consciously), putting him in CluelessChickMagnet territory.
* ChildhoodFriends: He's been Furuichi's best friend since they were in 5th grade together, and even went to the same middle school together.
* ChildrenRaiseYou: Getting saddled with Beel is probably the best thing that has ever happened to him. When he found Beel, he was a [[{{Jerkass}} selfish]] BloodKnight with no real friends, who was perfectly fine with abandoning a helpless baby because he was more trouble than he was worth. However, the responsibility of having to raise Beel and teach him how to be a man have caused him to start practising what he preaches. He's become much more responsible and, in general, he's a lot easier to deal with than he was at the start of the series, and while he wouldn't be all that great a father for a human baby, he's become the perfect parent for Beel.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: He frequently [[CasualDangerDialogue reacts to situations]] like no other sane human being would, and spouts [[InsaneTrollLogic absurd aesops]] that he seems to think make perfect sense.
* ComicallyInvincibleHero: Nearly any time he shows up, he solves the current situation by punching people into walls. However, when [[CerebusSyndrome things get serious]], the fights tend to get much harder.
* CuttingTheKnot: If a problem exists, Oga will punch people until it goes away. His solution to an impending tournament arc was to arrive at the site a night early and beat everyone up himself.
* DealWithTheDevil: He wasn't aware of what he was doing, though. Unlike most examples of the trope, the exact details of the contract aren't clear and it's more of a symbiotic relationship than anything.
** All we know is he can't be away from Beel for very long.
* {{Determinator}}: No matter how much damage he takes, even when he's covered in blood, he's still able to get up and keep fighting. The only reason he won against [[spoiler:Tojo]] was because he wanted it so much.
* {{Dismotivation}}: During the first part of the manga. Half the time he seems to forget about his ambition to lay Beel off on somebody else until it becomes relevant to the plot.
* TheDreaded: To the average delinquent. He is well-known as the "child-rearing badass" who crushed Ishiyama, and by proxy is considered the strongest delinquent at Ishiyama High.
* DumbMuscle: Even without Baby Beel, he's tough enough to fight demons, but he's as thick as a post.
* EvilLaugh: Not only does he have an evil laugh, but he appears to sprout exaggerated shark teeth when doing it.
* FaceOfAThug: No kidding. It's enough to scare Yolda shitless.
* FailedASpotCheck: He somehow remains incapable of recognizing Aoi Kunie as Aoi Kunieda. In contrast, he was able to realize that [[spoiler:a barely conscious Hilda was actually Yolda.]]
* FriendlessBackground: He couldn't sustain a friendship when he was young because everyone was afraid of him. [[spoiler:Furuichi was his first and for a long time only friend.]]
* FreudianExcuse: He had one for why he hated people walking behind him as a kid. When you're back there, he can't keep an eye on you during his fights so you don't get killed, and you could be saying mean things about him as if he can't hear you back there. Furuichi was the first person to instead walk right beside him.
* FusionDance: When he drinks too much Super Milk.
* GenreSavvy: Sometimes, due to him being a RPG player. Most of the time, though, [[WrongGenreSavvy he's way off]].
* HeroicBSOD: Several, all of which have been minor and hilarious.
* HeroicComedicSociopath: NominalHero? Check. Sociopathic towards everyone and enjoys being excessively violent? Check. {{Jerkass}}? Check. [[KarmaHoudini Usually gets away with it?]] Check. It's all PlayedForLaughs? Check. Oga is definitively one of these. More clear in the manga, though
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Furuichi. [[spoiler: Emphasized in the epilogue where its said they ruled Ishiyama together, before Oga left to the demon world.]]
* HilariouslyAbusiveChildhood: Due to his older sister.
* HotBlooded: Sometimes. He's usually too apathetic, though.
* IdiotHero:
** It's frequently pointed out by Furuichi. A RunningGag is that he seems to think everyone else is a bigger idiot than him, and when he encounters anyone particularly clever he asks them ridiculous trivia questions.
** [[spoiler:After tearing through several dozens of demons to save Hilda, when confronted with a [[GridPuzzle Sudoku puzzle]] that he needs to solve in order to advance, he instantly gives up.]]
* IsThatCuteKidYours: Except for demons, there are only four or five people that realize Baby Beel isn't his biological son.
* ItRunsInTheFamily: He seems to have picked up his [[JapaneseDelinquents Delinquency]], CharlesAtlasSuperpower, JerkWithAHeartOfGold personality, and his tendency to put people's heads through walls from his sister Misaki.
* {{Japanese Delinquent|s}}: Just like his sister. And the rest of his school, but he at least has the excuse of having a bad role model from an early age.
* {{Jerkass}} --> JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Early on, Oga was selfish, abusive, and violent, and his entire motivation was to find someone he could ditch Beel with so that he wouldn't have to deal with him. These days, he's gotten a lot nicer overall and he thinks of Beel as his own son.
* LargeHam: When [[CallingYourAttacks calling his attacks]], or when making a deliberate attempt to emote.
* LastNameBasis: Everyone, with the obvious exception of his family, refers to him by his last name. [[spoiler:When Hilda [[IdentityAmnesia lost her memory]], she started calling him by his given name, [[DefrostingIceQueen and she has been doing it periodically ever since she regained her memories]].]]
* MadeOfIron: While he does show realistic (if downplayed) damage from whatever he was just hit with, he never seems to notice it and certainly won't let it stop him.
* MarkOfTheBeast[=/=]PowerTattoo: The Zebub Spell mark, which grows bigger every time he uses its strength.
* MegatonPunch: His main method of attack.
* MenDontCry: He sticks to this philosophy throughout the entire series. In fact, it's the first thing he ever taught Baby Beel.
* MentalWorld: He has absolutely no idea what dwells in his. It looks kinda like some sort of QuirkyWork mecha anime on a ton of acid.
* MistakenForCheating: When he spends too much time around Aoi.
* MrFanservice: He's been appearing shirtless on covers and so forth far more often as the series goes on.
* NominalHero: Initially, Oga was nothing more than a crude and uncaring delinquent whose only friend seemed to be Furuichi. While he wouldn't start fights, he would take deliberate pleasure in inflicting the most pain possible when facing his opponents, regularly resulting to cruel and unusual methods of punishment for his defeated enemies, showing a high amount of sadism. It is because of these qualities that he was initially chosen to become Beel's parent. He gets better through CharacterDevelopment but never stops being morally grey.
* NotWhatItLooksLike: He doesn't get very far trying to explain that Baby Beel isn't his, as his family seems far more willing to believe Hilda than him. Well, that and he's an idiot.
-->'''Oga''': I already told you, I won't accept being the parent!\
'''Hilda''': What are you saying all of a sudden? After even going as far as that. It was honestly amazing...
** And half of what he says to Aoi, which he seems to think is entirely platonic, such as asking her to "go out with" him for the park debut, trying to make her Beel's new mother and buying her alter-ego ice cream before having a chat about babysitting.
* ObliviousToLove: He has no clue about Aoi's massive crush on him, despite her blushing whenever she's around him. Taken to impossible levels when [[spoiler: a new character pretty much declares her love for him in the extra chapter, he mistakes it as a challenge to a duel, and mistakes her hugging him for a ''bear hug''.]]
* OneManArmy: When [[spoiler:Hilda]] gets kidnapped, the ones who did it propose a TournamentArc to settle things. Oga then decides "Screw it, that'll take too much time," and after a quick five-minute conversation with his friends, he attacks the enemy base head on. By himself. [[spoiler:While he probably would have failed without his eventual backup, he chews through about a third of the army and some of their best troops before he even gets winded.]]
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: He seems to think he is this, even after getting Beel. "Just an ordinary high school student with a few special circumstances."
* {{Otaku}}: He's a big fan of ''Franchise/DragonBall'' and videogames, such as Dragon Quest.
* PapaWolf: [[spoiler:He flat out states Beel won't destroy the world because he's his parent and he won't let him do something that stupid. He even managed to turn this trope into a powerup to beat Jabberwock with his ''bare fists''.]]
** He might occasionally spout something about wanting to be free of his kid, but try and bully Beel and he'll send you through the stratosphere.
** In Chapter 214, Saotome realizes this trope allowed him to ''create a whole new demonic technique''.
* ParentalSubstitute: Beel sees Oga as his father and Hilda as his mother.
* PowerDyesYourHair: [[spoiler:When he merges with Baby Beel, his hair turns light green like Beel's.]]
* PowerGivesYouWings: When he overdoes Super Milk Time, his skin darkens and he sprouts wings.
* ProgressivelyPrettier: Due to the overall ArtEvolution of the series.
* PsychicLink: Played for laughs when he and Furuichi randomly start conversing using telepathy.
* PunchAWall: He punches the ground following his fight with [[spoiler:Tojo]] when he received a nasty powerup from Beel. It subsequently [[spoiler:destroys the school]].
* RefusalOfTheCall: He didn't want to be Beel's father in the first place and only accepted his situation because the alternative was a painful death by electrocution, and the entire first arc of the manga follows his attempt to dump Beel on someone else. After that, though, he's started to accept Beel as his father.
* SelectiveObliviousness: Although it's more due to stupidity than anything, he is incapable of acknowledging Kunieda's feelings for him. At one point, Furuichi called him out on it and plainly told him that Kunieda was asking him out. He was surprised, but after Kunieda denied it, he took that as gospel because he figured she would know better than Furuichi and, thanks to being a ChasteHero, he couldn't pick up on any of the obvious cues she drops. On the other hand, he is completely aware of [[spoiler:amnesiac Hilda's]] feelings for him, though they creep him out, but he does pretty pointedly ignore the implication that [[spoiler:amnesiac Hilda might represent normal Hilda's actual repressed feelings.]]
* SimpleYetAwesome: Oga might only knew a few of the crest's spell, possibly due to Beelz's infancy but he is powerful enough to use them to their maximum power without breaking a sweat.
* [[SheIsNotMyGirlfriend She Is Not My Wife]]: But at this point he doesn't even bother to correct anyone anymore.
** In recent chapters, he's begun to issue denials again, starting with Tojo.
* SlasherSmile[=/=]TheUnsmile: Any time he smiles, [[FangsAreEvil pointy teeth and all]].
* SnarkBall: Oga is pretty dense and the butt of a lot of stupidity based jokes, but he manages to be fairly snarky nonetheless.
* StudentCouncilPresident: By default, as after he defeated all four of the Tohoshinki, Oga technically became ruler of the school. [[spoiler:It helps that the King's Crest by definition indicates that all four in some way see him as their boss, even if they'd never admit it.]]
* SuperMode: Super-milk time!
* SuplexFinisher: Against Toujou.
* TalkToTheFist: Whenever anyone starts talking too much before a fight, he tends to get irritated and simply try to punch them as hard as he can.
* TigerVersusDragon:
** The dragon to Tojo's tiger. The character for dragon (''tatsu'') is also in his name.
** Oga's second tiger is Aiba, another child-carrying gang leader.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Croquettes.
* UnsympatheticComedyProtagonist: At the beginning, sometimes bordering on VillainProtagonist. It's still present even after a healthy dose of CharacterDevelopment, but it isn't nearly as pronounced.
* UnwantedHarem: He has the makings of one. He doesn't seem to notice, and Furuichi points out that this is incredibly unfair.
* VillainProtagonist: Alaindelon describes the ideal parent of a Demon Lord as being "strong, tough, self-centered, and cares nothing for his fellow man". These traits sum up most of Oga's personality. He becomes an AntiHero through CharacterDevelopment, however.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Furuichi. While Oga is quick to drag him into weird situations for [[ItAmusedMe his own amusement]] and never hesitates to beat him around when he has the chance, the moment someone else so much as smashes Furuichi's face against a table, Oga will waste no time in kicking the crap out of them, as Himekawa painfully found out early in the series.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: It's understandable ''why'' he has no friends. Why Furuichi sticks around with him is a complete mystery.
** [[spoiler:Turns out Furuichi was Oga's first friend. Ever. But Furuichi proved to be strong enough, if not just as strong, as Oga to stick around despite his many antics.]]
* WouldntHitAGirl
** When he first 'fights' Aoi he merely dodges all of her attacks, leading to the impression that he won't hit girls. Hilda is angry but lets it pass. They later have a genuine fight, showing that he doesn't actually have a problem with it, though it ''was'' a sanctioned and controlled match, and he still used more grappling techniques than usual. His sister, Misaki, might have something to do with that.
** During the Akuma Academy arc, he tries to avert this one and hit the female Pillar Generals he was up against, but without much success. The implication is that he is perfectly capable of treating women as dangerous enemies, but the problem with this fight was that a number of the girls acted like innocent, terrified damsels whenever he was about to hit them, causing him to freeze up for a moment. Otherwise he'd be okay with it.
* WrestlerInAllOfUs: He has taken to using wrestling moves quite a lot in his fights lately.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: Due to ArtEvolution, he's started looking older and older. He's 16.

--> Voiced by: Creator/MiyukiSawashiro

Son of the ruler of Hell, he was sent to Earth to destroy humanity in place of his {{Otaku}} father who's too busy to do it personally. But before he can do that he needs to grow up and master his powers, and for that a human contractor who will take the role of parent is needed.

He quickly becomes very attached to Oga, and can always be seen clinging onto Oga's back or sitting on Oga's head. When he becomes agitated or sees blood, he'll often throw a tantrum and will spontaneously electrocute anyone within his vicinity. Without Oga, he is physically weaker than even the average human child, but contact with Oga allows him to unleash his demonic powers.

He understands speech but can't speak himself yet, instead making typical baby noises (often accompanied by subtitles, for instance when conversing with another baby and a household deity) and is always naked with a pacifier in his mouth. He, like Oga, is shown to get angry easily and often copies Oga's movements and mirrors his reactions. He provides most of the story's comic relief. The new spinoff that started in May 2014 focuses on him and his adventures in daycare, with the goal of making 100 friends.
------
* AntiAntiChrist: Doesn't seem very concerned about destroying all of humanity. Instead he's quite happy to follow Oga around and get into petty fights, or just act like a regular infant.
** In Chapter 107, Oga declares that [[spoiler:as his father, he will make Beel this]].
* AssKicksYou: In Chapter 228, when Oga and Beel think Furuichi is acting like a pussy (read: [[OnlySaneMan acting rational]]), Beel somersaults off of Oga's shoulder and gives Furuichi a faceful of his ass.
* AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever: During the Demon World arc, he grows to gigantic proportions and fights the guardian of Vlad's Haunt, who is roughly the size of a mountain.
* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler:In Chapter 216, the device that was used by Himekawa the previous chapter to seal Beel's power from Oga is shown to not have taken Beel anywhere but rather, it prevents Oga from interacting with him. Beel, realizing this, takes off running, briefly powers up Aoi to help her win her fight, and then teams up with Kanzaki to have him destroy the machine that put Oga on the ropes in the first place. The days when Beel would be helpless without Oga there to give him confidence are long gone.]]
* {{Bowdlerise}}: Several appearances, such as ''VideoGame/JStarsVictoryVs'', censor his nudity by making him wear a diaper.
* CharacterTitle: Though not his ''full'' name, [[OverlyLongName thankfully]].
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Green hair, green eyes.
* CuteLittleFangs
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: Episodes 20 and below lacked his fear of insects. Oga even tried to use a grasshopper to play with him.
* FirstKiss: With [[spoiler:Hilda, which brings her memories back.]]
* GooGooGodlike: One of the most powerful demons in the series despite being a baby. Presumably his father is as strong or stronger, but it's not clear who else might be. However, Beel can't use the majority of his powers by himself thanks to his young age.
* HappilyAdopted: Overall, Beel is happy to be with Oga, his human adopted father.
* HarmlessElectrocution: ''Mostly''. The "outside of a certain radius, the electric shocks become lethal" aspect of them has seen the radius steadily extended over the series.
* HeadPet: He spends most of his time on Oga's head or back.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: Baby Beel zigzags all over this trope. Sometimes he can tell good people from bad people, sometimes it's [[RuleOfFunny completely random]].
* LikeFatherLikeSon: One of the reasons no one questions that he's Oga's son is because they're just so alike.
** Revisited when Beel gets involved in a LoveTriangle between Kanzaki's niece Futaba and Izou's littler sister Chiyo (who happen to be blonde and dark-haired respectively).
** One of the follow-up chapters reveals that Beel is ''identical'' to Oga when he was a baby. The only difference is their hair color.
* MosesInTheBulrushes: Subverted, as his father willingly gave him up, and he was not completely abandoned as he still had Hilda and Alaindelon.
* NakedPeopleAreFunny: He refuses to wear clothing. Normally not really a problem, except [[spoiler:when he switches bodies with Oga]].
* NightmareFetishist: Probably because he is a demon in spite of looking like a normal human infant, baby Beel loves things that are grotesque, terrifying, or at the very least unsettling. He doesn't like teddy bears but loves the skinless anatomy dummy from the science lab, he falls asleep to heavy metal, and the sight of Oga dominating and humiliating others is what drew him to the delinquent in the first place.
* NoMouth: His mouth is almost always covered with his pacifier.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: No one ever refers to him by his OverlyLongName. We find out in Chapter 80 that at least Oga and Furuichi just don't remember it. Much to Baby Beel's distress.
* ShockAndAwe: Has the power to electrocute people when he's angry or upset, a power which by extension belongs to Oga as well.
* SpoiledBrat: Maybe, if he knows that his crying hurts Oga.
* TheSymbiote: Needs to feed off Oga's strength in order to use his powers properly.

->''"Together we shall raise a brilliant Demon King."''

--> Voiced by: Creator/ShizukaIto

Preferring to be known by her nickname, Hilda is the busty, blonde-haired demon maid who helps Oga take care of Beelzebub. She was personally chosen for the position by her master the Demon King and treats this as a great honor. She always dresses in a gothic lolita style and carries a parasol. She's first introduced trying to take Baby Beel back from Oga but failed since at that point he had already became attached. After that she decides to move in with Oga and act as Baby Beel's mother.

Hilda is not to be trifled with as she's every bit as strong, brutal and short-tempered as Oga. She also posses a sharp mind and often works behind the scenes to aid Oga and Beelzebub in their escapades. At first she was skeptical about Oga's ability to be Baby Beel's father, believing he lacks many essential qualities, but after learning more about him and seeing the extent of the trust between the two of them she changes her opinion of him and they start getting along better.

After Ishiyama's group got challenged by the Six Knights she transferred to Oga's class in order to help them on their way to victory.

She seems to care for Lamia, who in turn idolises Hilda for her strength and beauty, and affectionately refers to her as Nee-sama (older sister).
------
* AlmightyJanitor: Despite her excellent combat performance which surpasses that of actual high-ranking demon soldiers, she's just a nurse, surrogate mother, and bodyguard.
* AloofBigSister: To [[spoiler:Yolda]].
* AntiHero: Hilda is just as much of a NominalHero as Oga and commonly displays a cold and impassive demeanor, a character trait that she breaks only on rare occasions such as her interactions with Beel.
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther:
** After spending all her time fighting with Yolda, [[spoiler:Hilda performs a HeroicSacrifice to save her sister's life without hesitating.]]
** After Hilda [[spoiler:lost and then regained her memories,]] each subsequent arc has several scenes that show how, despite their near-constant bickering, she and Oga deeply care for and trust one another.
* BattleCouple: That's what the whole school ''assumes'' her and Oga are. As of now, they definitely fight well together. So, it's a bad idea to mess with Baby Beel if PapaWolf and MamaBear are here.
* BraidsOfAction[=/=]{{Odango}}: She wears her hair in a braided bun.
* CombatStilettos: Fighting in high heels and dressing in goth loli style can't be easy.
* TheComicallySerious: Hilda is perpetually serious and ''Beelzebub'' is half gag manga. Do the math.
* CoolBigSis: To Lamia.
* CrucifiedHeroShot: In the Akuma Academy arc, in which she is tied up on a crucifix [[spoiler:as Salamander's flames slowly burn her memories away.]]
* CunningLinguist: She briefly translates what an American is saying at one point, noting in the process that she's learned a lot of human languages. Most demons don't bother, so she hands of a special translation device that the likes of Lamia normally use.
* DamselInDistress: Exploited early on. She gets caught by Himekawa's goons with the excuse being that they drugged her, but then it turns out she just wanted to lure Oga into getting into a fight. She was fine the whole time. [[spoiler:Played much straighter when she is kidnapped by Behemoth and Jabberwock; despite being badass about it and not going down without a fight, she's eventually overwhelmed and has her memory wiped.]]
* DarkActionGirl: Hilda's overwhelming strength and vast magical power makes her a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. Even Saotome was impressed that an uncontracted nursemaid could be so powerful in the human world.
* DeadpanSnarker: She has a tendency to sarcastically comment on Oga's character or insult Furuichi.
* DefiantCaptive: Behemoth's 34 Pillar Division captured her, but they didn't have an easy time of it. Despite having been locked in a cell for a few days, being heavily outnumbered, and not having her sword, she still had it in her to take down five pillar generals before she was subdued.
* DefrostingIceQueen: It's a very, very, ''very'' slow process given all the other weird stuff going on, but she's been warming up to Oga slightly. Later developments [[spoiler:involving amnesia]] seem to be speeding up this process somewhat. She even begins to call Oga by his first name.
* DudeMagnet: Most of the guys are clearly attracted to her.
* ElegantGothicLolita: How she dresses, though not necessarily how she acts.
* FemmeFatale: She uses her looks to her advantage when convincing Oga's family to let her live with them. Specifically, by convincing them Oga had gotten her pregnant, his family insists he do everything in his power to keep her, since he'll never find another girl as beautiful as her.
* GirlyBruiser: Hilda is a ElegantGothicLolita and shown to be very skilled with her sword hid in her parasol, though she's also can kick asss unarmed as well (less frequently).
* GothGirlsKnowMagic: She's always dressed in ElegantGothicLolita, and has vast magical powers as a demon maid who serves under the Demon King.
* HateAtFirstSight: Subverted with Aoi Kunieda. They didn't hate each other during their first meeting, but they did develop a rival relationship. However, [[spoiler:when Hilda got amnesia, she became a kind, innocent, sweet and naive girl with an obvious crush on Oga. New Hilda hated Aoi ([[MyFriendsAndZoidberg and Furuichi]]) at first sight]].
* HiddenDepths: Who would have guessed that she is such a Soap Opera fan?
** With the reappearance of [[spoiler: her amnesiac side during the Christmas arc, it's now hinted that beyond just being her had she not been trained, it's actually an alternate personality subconsciously repressed by Hilda. This side of her seems to be the affection and desire to be Beel's mother as well as her caring for Oga]]
* HidingBehindYourBangs: She hides her MagicalEye under her bangs.
* IHaveYourWife: She, along with [[HeterosexualLifePartners Furuichi]], is kidnapped early on by Himekawa in order to lure Oga into a trap, though it was just her tricking her captors into believing they had her at their mercy because she wanted the exact same thing as them. [[spoiler:Much later, the 34 Pillar Division pulls the same thing, and though she puts up a good fight, she ends up completely at their mercy.]]
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Courtesy of [[spoiler:Hecadoth, though she got better.]]
* JerkAss: She acts like this towards anyone who isn't Baby Beel. In the beginning of the series, she is openly disapproving of Oga as his parent and while their relationship improves with time, she still tends to bicker with him.
* MamaBear: She takes her job as mother ''very'' seriously.
** DotingParent: The only times you'll see her emote something other than anger ([[spoiler:besides the times when she has amnesia]]) are the times she's cooing over Beel.
* MagicalEye: [[spoiler:Her left eye is not blind. She covers it up because it has far better vision than her right and the difference between the two makes her feel ill. She uncovers it once to kick the crap out of Aoi, who had finally seemed to catch up to her.]]
* MementoMacGuffin: It turns out that the necklace she wears at all times was a gift from [[spoiler:baby Beel's mother]].
* NewTransferStudent: In the Saint Ishiyama arc.
* NinjaMaid: As a demon wet nurse, she combines the traits of a maid, a bodyguard, and a mother.
* NotHerself: [[spoiler:After getting amnesia, Hilda's personality apparently defaults to how she would be if she hadn't been raised and trained to be the perfect nurse for Beel.]] This makes her into an extremely happy, affectionate person that is obviously attracted to Oga, but the personality flip creeps people out, especially him. [[spoiler:He throws away the medicinal cure given to him, but since she gets an AccidentalKiss from her prince, Beel, she returns to normal anyway.]]
* NotLoveInterest: She's believed by many to be the Beel's mother and Oga's wife, but in actuality, she tended to be more disgusted by him than anything, and even on her good days, she was tolerant of him at best. [[spoiler:After Hilda got amnesia, we get a look at what she would be like without all her training, and this side of Hilda, at least, is clearly in love with Oga. However, after she regains her memory she goes back to behaving like before...or does she?]]
* NotSoAboveItAll: In Chapter 228, she agreed to and was quite enthusiastic about cosplaying as a ninja with Oga (He was dressed as some sort of samurai), even going so far as to call herself the "Sexy Ninja". A subtle one occurs during the Okinawa arc, where you can see her singing along with the other girls when the class tried to "persuade" the principal.
* NotSoStoic:
** While trying to entertain Baby Beel, Hilda instead becomes gushy and affectionate.
** She also becomes angry to the point of actually lashing out when it's implied that [[spoiler:Iris, Beel's birth mother, may be a traitor.]]
* {{Omniglot}}: She mentions in passing that she's learned a lot of human languages in preparation for entering the human world. She considers Japanese a pretty minor example. That said, she's not very good at kanji yet.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: When Hilda acts nice, polite and demure [[spoiler:thanks to her amnesia]], she freaks people out. Oga in particularly is visibly disturbed.
* ParasolOfPain: She keeps [[SwordCane her sword hidden in the handle]].
* ParentalSubstitute: She and Oga actually raise Beel, and it becomes increasingly obvious that Beel has come to see the two of them as his real parents.
* PerpetualFrowner: Hilda essentially never smiles. Oga is extremely weirded out when she briefly doesn't act this way [[spoiler:due to amnesia]].
* PrettyFreeloaders: To the point where she's considered a part of the family by everyone except Oga. To be fair, she ''does'' help out around the house.
* RedOniBlueOni: The Blue to Aoi and Oga's red.
* SitcomArchNemesis: With Aoi. Even [[spoiler:when she loses her memories, she instinctively recognizes Aoi as a rival]].
* TheSpartanWay: Her methods of teaching Oga and the other delinquents how to play volleyball.
* SplitPersonality: After Hilda's previous [[spoiler:IdentityAmnesia]] issues the personality that couldn't [[spoiler:remember her being a demon]] remained dormant, and returned when she accidentally kissed Baby Beel.
* TheStoic: Hilda's normal behavior is that of an emotionless maidservant/bodyguard.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: She looks almost identical to her sister Yolda, with the main differences being in attitude, clothing and their hair styles.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Due to her upbringing, she tends to be very cold and businesslike. She has a softer side, but it very rarely shows.
* SuperSenses: Her [[spoiler:[[MagicalEye left eye]]]] is revealed to be much more visually sensitive than her right, allowing her to read opponent's moves with ease. She usually keeps it [[HidingBehindYourBangs covered]] though, as the different sight levels of the two makes her nauseous.
* TrueLovesKiss: Invoked. It's said that the only way [[spoiler:to cure her amnesia]] is to have her kiss her 'prince.' Oga is horrified and absolutely refuses to accept that this is the only way to do it. [[spoiler:It turns out Beel is considered her prince, though. Bit more literal than they thought, no?]]
* {{Tsurime Eyes}}: Her eyes are rather flat, narrow, and sharp at the edges.
* VillainProtagonist: Hilda originally came to the human world by command of the Demon King to raise his son to be a human destroyer. She also is shown to be just as bloodthirsty and violent as Oga, a trait that earned her the nickname "Oga's Bride" at Ishiyama.
* WorfHadTheFlu: She loses to Hecatos in their first fight. In their second, right after she's recovered from her previous injuries, she kicks the crap out of him after wiping out En's maids. After all, before the first fight, she'd used up all her energy trying to take on Zen.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: She kicks Oga out of his own house once she thinks he's neglecting his duties.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: She's actually sixteen, the same age as Oga.

Oga's one and only friend, and the first person who knows the truth about Beelzebub. He is also just about the only student who is not a delinquent in the main cast. Despite his lack of fighting ability, he's quite clever and cunning. Expresses a desire to escape the strange events he's become embroiled in, but always gets dragged back into it one way or another. Likes to think of himself as a ladies' man and will never pass up an opportunity to flirt with someone, though he always fails at it.
------
* ActionSurvivor: This kid has been to the demon world, and has got through all of the fights Oga has been in without really knowing how to fight at all.
* TheCallKnowsWhereYouLive Alaindelon: He is not allowed to go on vacation or even sleep when Oga and the gang want him for something (usually nothing). They make Alaindelon go kidnap him.
* BeatStillMyHeart: [[spoiler: Lucifer tears out his heart.]]
* BlueWithShock: Ends up like this even more than Oga.
* BromanticFoil: With Furuichi around to be a creep, it's easier to see why people like Aoi and Hilda would be interested in Oga.
* ButtMonkey[=/=]TheChewToy: Nothing ever goes right for him and he's bullied almost constantly.
** [[spoiler:Deconstructed in]] Chapter 173 when it is revealed [[spoiler:he's tired enough of this that he's even willing to use PowerAtAPrice just so he could win for once... otherwise he'd rather be dead]].
** [[spoiler:[[CharacterDevelopment He has been less of a]] ButtMonkey lately, what with his DangerousForbiddenTechnique episodes and being all around more competent.]]
*** [[spoiler:The others also agreed to dial back the insults, especially the "Creepichi" ones.]]
** [[spoiler:In the epilogue, it's revealed that he's considered the ruler of the school during Oga's absence, while at the same time lampshading his ButtMonkey nature around his friends.]]
* CasanovaWannabe: No one can deny that he tries...
* ChildhoodFriends: He's been Oga's best friend since they were in 5th grade together, and even went to the same middle school together.
* ChivalrousPervert
* CombatCommentator: Although sometimes it's just [[BlatantLies lies]].
* CombatPragmatist: In the first fight he is shown to participate in alone that he won, his method of attack involved [[RefugeInAudacity nearly drowning a baby]]. It worked.
* {{Determinator}}: He may be weak at fighting, but he can sure as hell take his punishment. [[spoiler:Oga respects this strength most about him.]]
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: [[spoiler: He defeats Oga, Himekawa, Kanzaki, Miki, and Tojo, after accidentally making contracts with various Pillar Division members by stuffing demon tissue up his nose.]]
* DistressedDude: When he was kidnapped by Himekawa along with Hilda. While he refused to back down despite the very real danger, his calm attitude towards his capture and his talk with Oga the following chapter suggests that this was not the first time this had happened to him.
** [[spoiler:And it happens again when Takamiya's group kidnaps Furuichi to lure Oga out to fight them.]]
* TheDragAlong: To the point that Oga and Hilda will send out Alaindelon to kidnap him just to drag him along.
* FunTShirt: Early on, he has a shirt with the words [[ButtMonkey Fool]] [[BilingualBonus 1]] written on it. The Okinawa arc adds to the collection by giving him one with the word (and picture of a) [[DirtyCoward Chicken.]]
* GuileHero: Not that it's hard to be the smartest member of this cast, but he uses his intelligence to good effect more than once.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Oga. [[spoiler: Emphasized in the epilogue where it's said they ruled Ishiyama together, before Oga left to the demon world.]]
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: By [[spoiler: Lucifer in Chapter 207. He gets his heart ripped out, too.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold
* KnightInShiningArmor: He wanted to be this to save Alaindelon's daughter, Angelica, but, well, not much came of that.
* LastNameBasis: He is on this with Oga and everyone calls him by his last name. His first name isn't revealed until about half way through the story, and only mentioned in passing.
* LovableCoward: Unless there is a woman involved.
* ManOfAThousandFaces: After his permament TookALevelInBadass, whenever he invokes [[spoiler:the summoning tissues]], he takes on the facial characteristics of [[spoiler:Behemoth Pillar possessing him. His second moniker is actually 'The Man Of One Hundred Faces'.]]
* MemeticBadass: 'General Furuichi' is an ''in-universe'' example, as well as in the fandom. It backfired in universe where everyone just assumed that he was the [[ChessMaster mastermind]] behind the whole fight. He tries to invoke this early in the series so that he wouldn't have to fight. Later on, his plans get more and more ingenious to the point that even Oga's mind seems to think he's pretty badass.
** After he TookALevelInBadass, we later see Hecadoth referring to him as "The Strategist" with genuine respect.
* MistakenForBadass: Kazuya (as well as a few others) seem to think he's much cooler, stronger, smarter and good-looking than he really is. Furuichi doesn't deny this. It gets him in trouble (see above).
* MistakenForPedophile: Due to being caught in [[ButtMonkey several]] NotWhatItLooksLike scenes with [[TokenMiniMoe Lamia]], around a quarter of the cast thinks he's a nasty pedophile, [[ButtMonkey including his sister.]] Due to his ButtMonkey status, naturally this is all PlayedForLaughs.
* MrExposition: Even his buff counterpart in Oga's mind acts as this.
* NotWhatItLooksLike: Because he is the ButtMonkey, he had to try and explain [[MachoCamp Alaindelon]] moving in with him and talking like he and Furuichi are lovers to his parents. Plus the episode when Lamia visits his house...
* OnlySaneMan: He plays this a lot. Poor guy.
* PowerAtAPrice: As revealed in Chapter 172, [[spoiler:the power he gains from those demonized tissues has side effects: {{hallucinations}}, [[WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity insanity,]] [[EyeScream blindness,]] and eventually, death.]]
* PrettyFreeloaders: [[MachoCamp Alaindelon]] is living with him. Subverted.
* PsychicLink: He gains one with Oga; like a lot of things in the series, it's played for laughs.
* StepfordSmiler: Chapter 173 reveals that Furuichi [[spoiler:was getting really sick of all the humiliation he's put through, and was willing to risk his life just so he could get back at them and get a chance to be like the main characters.]] He gets better thanks to Oga, though.
* StraightMan: To everyone else, to the point where [[spoiler: even ''the fragments of his soul'' act like this]].
* TheyKilledKennyAgain: Played with. His [[LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt apparent death]] is done quite straight until it is revealed he's just [[AlmostDeadGuy almost dead]], then it's the reaction of others that gets played for laughs.]]
* TookALevelInBadass: In Chapter 169, he accidentally [[spoiler: makes contracts with various members of the Pillar Division by stuffing demon tissues up his nose. He then proceeds to defeat Oga, Kanzaki, Himekawa, Miki, Tojo, and of course, [[{{Jobber}} MK-5]].]]
** TookALevelInJerkass also, though whether this is a side-effect of the tissues or just a side effect of acutally having power for once.
** In Chapter 204, [[spoiler:he uses the Demon Tissues again when trying to escape after being captured by Takamiya's minions.]]
* SummonMagic: The tissues he received by way of a gag from Oga [[spoiler:allow him to [[SymbioticPossession be possessed]] by various members of the ''entire Behemoth Pillar Division'', up to and including Behemoth ''himself'']].
* UndyingLoyalty: It goes without saying that Furuichi is loyal to Oga. The King's Crest signifies sworn allegiance to a king. Furthermore, the lower the number of the crest, the higher the bearer's allegiance is to their king. While it's easy to miss in the final battle against Fuji, the number that showed on Furichi's palm is #0. This shows that the friendship between him and Oga is the strongest amongst the entire cast.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Oga. They are constantly at each other's throats, but underneath all their bickering there is a solid friendship that has lasted many years.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: This is his and Oga's relationship; most of the abuse comes from Oga, though Furuichi isn't above wanting to see Oga suffer either.
* YourSoulIsMine: [[spoiler: When Lucifer tears out his heart, she also yanks out his soul. Takamiya helpfully explains that the soulless body will survive until the sun rises -- and then he cuts the soul into pieces and sends them off to his lackeys, turning Oga's fight with the Fallen Angels into a TimedMission.]]
