The biggest idiot in the world (according to the majority of the cast) and somehow the main protagonist. Though a consistent failure in tests, his one major advantage is that this gives his Summoned Being a special ability to interact with physical objects and dodge attacks by other Beings. Unfortunately, this also causes him to be drafted by various teachers to do their grunt work. Currently lives on his own due to his parents' overseas work and his sister studying in Harvard (though she later came back), and usually has meals consisting of water and condiments due to his habit of spending what little allowance he gets on video games.
----
* AcquiredPoisonImmunity: Later in the novels Akihisa can survive Himeji's cooking due to spending summer eating his sister Akira's.
** Lampshaded by Akihisa. His mom was an even worse cook than Akira OR Himeji. Thus Akihisa ate so much Poison Mushroom for breakfast that he has acquired an immunity to foods that normally can kill people.
* AllLovingHero: Despite Akihisa being an idiot, he's normally this. He's shown to be one of the kindest characters that multiple people describe him as the nicest guy they've ever met.
* AmusingInjuries: Applied to by mostly Minami, sometimes others like Miharu, Yuuko, or indirectly Himeji.
* AttractiveBentGender: Mizuki seems to like him dressing up in [[{{Joshikousei}} a schoolgirl uniform]] and [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer few girls]] are head over heels for "Aki-chan".
* BadassAdorable: He kicks the asses of two senior jerks who insulted Class F's MaidCafe -- and he does it while dressed as a {{Meido}}.
* BookDumb: He normally defaults to this due to him being an idiot.
* ButtMonkey: Every episode, something bad always happens to the poor guy. [[TheChewToy But rest assured, it's all in the name of comedy]]. In fact, it's the basis of his Summoned Being's power to affect physical matter.
* CantGetAwayWithNuthin: If Akihisa does or says anything that could offend anyone, somehow, some way, that person will know.
* CassandraTruth: He can cook. [[SupremeChef Like a pro.]]
* CharacterDevelopment: Lampshaded in story. The bracelet he has goes haywire when someone who isn't an idiot uses it. And haywire it went.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: With Mizuki, who he's known and had a crush on since grade school. She feels the same way about him, but he's too stupid to notice.
* ChildhoodFriends: He has been classmates with Hideyoshi since first grade.
* ChivalrousPervert: Towards Mizuki, being not only interested in her good-looks, but also in her good heart and well-being.
* ClassicalAntiHero: He's described as such in the narrative, being the idiotic underdog.
* CluelessChickMagnet: Good God, '''yes'''. He may be forgiven for misunderstanding Minami's feelings (given her [[{{Tsundere}} attitude]]), but remaining clueless to Mizuki's more overt advances is just ridiculous. Especially since he's had a crush on her since Volume 1.
** Starting to avert this now and then, but StatusQuoIsGod, so he reverts back to being one after just a few days.
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: The intentions and hidden meanings from other characters often fly far over poor Akihisa's head, leading him to very silly misunderstandings.
* CripplingOverspecialization: Graduates from the idiot of all idiots to this as the series goes on, where he can go toe-to-toe with potentially stronger opponents if the match is held using a history subject, particularly Japanese History.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Slowly turns to this in the light novel and manga, and is hinted to be turning into one at the end of the first anime season. [[spoiler:After all, the reason the bracelet broke in the first place was because Akihisa was no longer an "idiot".]]
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Has brown eyes and hair, fairly ordinary colors to make him appear relatable to the audience.
* DeadlyDodging: His summon has to do this or die because it's so weak breathing on it might even take it down.
* {{Determinator}}: He might be an idiot, but he'll do his best if he wants to, especially if it involves Mizuki. Down to even studying for an exam just so he can get his grades up for the next summoning battle.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: Defeats [[spoiler:'''Iron Man''']].
* TheDitz: Most of his friends are either BrilliantButLazy or just plain brilliant, but Akihisa is legitimately stupid.
* DraggedIntoDrag:
** Ends up in a {{Meido}} outfit, repeatedly.
** Tamano wants to do this to him. Thankfully (for him) she never gets that far.
* DumbIsGood: The biggest idiot in the entire school is also acknowledged as one of the nicest guys.
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: Or at least [[StraightGay Toshimitsu]] and, later on, [[DudeLooksLikeALady Hideyoshi]].
** He is even rated "#1" among a group of gay guys. Not that he knows it, though. [[spoiler:But later in Volume 10.5, the position falls to Yuuji.]]
* FirstKiss: [[spoiler:Minami takes his.]]
* FragileSpeedster: While his avatar's strength and durability varies wildly from subpar to ''horrible'', its speed has always been applauded for it's quick reflexes due to Akihisa's full control over it as a Probationary Student.
* FriendToAllChildren: He says children quickly take a liking to him.
* GibberishOfLove: Sometimes a cause of him in getting into trouble with the two girls. One particularly hilarious example is when he got invited to Kirishima's place to study with the gang. He saw [[spoiler: Mizuki sporting a ponytail, which caught him by surprise so much he wanted to say "Himeji's so cute today, that my mind is about to explode just looking at you!"]] He instead said [[spoiler: "Himeji's so dead today!"]]
* GoodAngelBadAngel: He calls upon these two on occasion to weigh the outcomes and make the decision.
* HasAType: His type is defined as girls with large breasts and ponytails (qualities that Himeji and Minami have, respectively).
* HeroesPreferSwords: His summon wields a [[WoodenKatanasAreEvenBetter Bokken]].
* HeroProtagonist: The titular idiot and protagonist of the tale. He is a good-hearted young man who always does what's best for his friends.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Yuuji. They're {{best friend}}s and often hang out together when their love interests aren't around.
* HiddenDepths: Is a superb cook. Has also shown that he can be fairly smart if he actually puts effort into studying.
* HypocriticalHumor: He keeps telling Yuuji to acknowledge Shouko's feelings, despite the fact he can't notice two girls liking him.
* IAmNotLeftHanded: Subverted--he believed he could win a Summoned Being battle because nobody knows he's actually left-handed. The result was [[CurbStompBattle less than optimal]]. [[spoiler:Funnily enough, the outcome of the battle leads said opponent to underestimate him when they battle six months later in a Japanese History match]] in Volume 10.
* IdiotHero: Dear God, '''yes'''. Though he starts to grow out of his idiocies over time.
* IfItsYouItsOkay: Apparently thinks homosexuality is wrong (and initially [[EskimosArentReal didn't even believe it was real]]), yet has no problem with confessing to [[AttractiveBentGender Hideyoshi]], buying {{fanservice}}-y pictures of him from Kouta, or getting a {{nosebleed}} from seeing him topless. In the anime, Akihisa frequently mistakes him for a girl or just ignores Hideyoshi's true gender altogether. In the light novels, however, he ''does'' acknowledge that Hideyoshi is a guy (after all, he call the group "four man gang"), but for some reason treats him like a girl anyway. An offhand remark in volume 8 even confirms that, yeah, he feels it is okay if it's Hideyoshi.
* ImaginaryLoveTriangle: He is oblivious to Mizuki's romantic advances on him despite the fact that he has a crush on her. Instead, he thinks that Mizuki has a crush on Yuuji.
* IndyPloy: Despite his idiocy he is very good at coming up with good tactics on the fly.
* InformedAttractiveness: Frequently described as a PrettyBoy, despite being drawn to be average, or even a bit goofy looking. Especially noticeable in comparison to Hideyoshi, who pushes the PrettyBoy trope to the absolute limit.
* InsecureLoveInterest: It should be noted that in the light novels, the possibility of Mizuki and Minami liking him has crossed his mind before. It's just that he usually dismisses it as a delusion, believing they couldn't like someone like him.
* IronButtMonkey: He's capable of taking a lot of damage and still get back up in the next second.
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: Has Mizuki's best interests at heart, but thinks thinks she may not return his kindness. [[ObliviousToLove So he thinks.]]
* JokeCharacter: His avatar is one. While the average student's grades lie somewhere within the hundreds range and the higher ranked ones in the thousands, his are all ''less than one hundred'', meaning even a Class F {{Mook}} could defeat him in a single hit.
* KindheartedSimpleton: His heart is bigger than his brain. He goes ''nuts'' when someone steals Mizuki's love letter (oblivious it's for him), and encounters the guilty in an [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness out of character rage.]] It's also revealed in a flashback that Minami's Japanese was initially poor, and had trouble communicating with the other students. Akihiro, being a total suck at grammar in his own language, takes the effort to look up Minami's language and tells her: "Will you be my friend?" He mistook her for being French, and thus spoke in that language, but his heart was in the right place. Contemplating this, it's no wonder why they both are in love with him.
* LethalJokeCharacter: His full control over his avatar is completely unique to him, meaning that, when used competently, he has an advantage so great that he can take down Class A's best.
* LimitBreak: His summon has one. He smashes the ground with his wooden sword, breaking the scenery. The enemy summon is then engulfed in light, suspending them and draining their points. He then rushes the enemy, unleashing a flurry of attacks and slashes, sending the target flying.
* LovableSexManiac: To a much lesser extent than Tsuchiya, but he regularly buys naughty photos from said person as well as owning at least 6 ecchi magazines back at home.
* MeaningfulName: Yoshii means "righteous"/"good"/"good luck" (the first two definitely apply to Akihisa; the latter is the total opposite of his life, unless one counts his UnwantedHarem).
* MundaneUtility: His special Summoned Being is like a part of him. His teachers make good use of this--penalty in the form of boring chores.
* NiceGuy: Despite being an idiot and sustaining physical abuse from his friends, he generally is this, and even HELPS the same friends who hurt him on a daily basis when they are in need.
* NiceGuysFinishLast: He's one of the nicest guys you can meet (depending on who you ask), and because of it, practically everything he has done backfires on him. Although it has its [[UnwantedHarem bene]][[ChickMagnet fits]].
* {{Nosebleed}}: Just not at Kouta's level yet.
* ObliviousToLove: Because he's an IdiotHero, even Mizuki's and Minami's more overt romantic advances don't translate correctly to him. Akihisa also is the only one of the guys who is oblivious to Kubo's feelings for him.
* OnlySaneMan: Around his sister's and the girls' presence, especially if (cooking) food is involved.
--> '''[[LethalChef Himeji]]:''' "Akira-san, that won't do. If you want to wash rice, you should use 'clean'—HACCHOO!!"
--> '''Akihisa:''' "'CLEAN'! HIMEJI-SAN, WERE YOU TRYING TO SAY 'CLEANSER'!?"
* PerpetualPoverty: 1/64th cup ramen cuts as lunch, salt water (main course) with sugar water (side dish) meals and cold water showers are some of the miseries caused by how broke he is.
* PostKissCatatonia: Happens once, [[spoiler:when Mizuki kissed him.]] He doesn't snap out of it for hours.
* PowerPerversionPotential: Since his summon can interact with the real world, it can do some ecchi things like take photos of girls in the baths. Subverted in two ways: first, he has to have a summon field (which means getting a teacher's permission) and, second, if he can summon so can the people he's peeping on, which leads to...pain.
* ShipperOnDeck: Actively encourages the Yuuji/Shouko pairing.
* ShootTheMessenger: Basically it goes like this,
-->'''Yuuji:''' Akihisa go declare war on Class ''N''.\
[''Akihisa comes back beaten up and humiliated'']
* SiblingYinYang: With his older sister Akira--he's [[IdiotHero idiotic]] but [[SupremeChef can cook]]; she's [[TheAce brilliant]] but [[LethalChef can't cook]].
* SobriquetSexSwitch: When forced into crossdressing, Akihisa gets called "Aki-chan" or "Akiko".
* SupremeChef: He's responsible for preparing the meals in his home. ''Gourmet-class'' meals, in fact. It has been discussed that he could launch a professional career with that sort of talent.
* {{Synchronization}}: Being the "Probationary Student" ostensibly meaning he inspects how effective punishments are firsthand: his avatar is the only one that can become tangible and he feels whatever it feels.
* ThatCameOutWrong: More or less half of what he tells people.
* ThisLoserIsYou: Lazy, perverted, dim-witted, financially broke Akihisa is meant to represent the average high school male youth.
* ThrowTheDogABone: [[spoiler:Shouko threw the match for him in the first season's finale so he would get his wish to have Himeji retake the test. But Himeji doesn't want to leave him [[YankTheDogsChain and thus all his efforts are wasted]].]]
* TookALevelInBadass: Along with actually learning how to use his avatar in combat properly, his grades have improved to a point where he could actually said to be ''good'' at history as well as not being nearly as bad as he initially was in all of his other classes. He's still an idiot, but his badass side is showing up more consistently.
* TrainingFromHell: always goes through some heavy test cramming before summoner wars, and while the results are mixed they generally prove to be enough to at least promote his avatar from JokeCharacter to FragileSpeedster.
* TwiceShy: With Mizuki. They have liked each other for years, but both get shy around each other and neither dares to make the first move.
* UnknownRival: Shouko considers him a rival for Yuuji's heart. As usual, he's oblivious.
* UnwantedHarem: [[NiceGirl Mizuki]], [[{{Tsundere}} Minami]], [[TokenMiniMoe Hazuki]], [[StraightGay Toshimitsu]], and even [[BrotherSisterIncest his older sister Akira]] all want him to themselves. [[AttractiveBentGender Hideyoshi]] and Hideyoshi's sister Yuuko show signs of potentially joining the competition later in the light novels. Also, Miki Tamano is interested in [[DraggedIntoDrag seeing him wear female outfits]].
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Yuuji--they may [[VolleyingInsults hurl insults at each other]], fight ''constantly'', and be willing to sacrifice the other to save themselves when the situation isn't that serious, but will instantly join forces once there's real trouble.
* WeakButSkilled: Even after heavy studying, his grades aren't much compared to Shouko and Himeji, but his ability to fully control his avatar allows him to go toe to toe with and even defeat them if he's using his head.
* WeNeedADistraction: Akihisa's role is doing the distracting. Usually it doesn't end well for him.
* WhatDoesSheSeeInHim: Akihisa has so many potential love interests that other characters wonder how he managed it.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: The torment he gets from his friends would make any person quit being friends with them. He, on the other hand, [[AngstWhatAngst puts up with it]], [[TheChewToy much to our benefit]].
* WoundedGazelleGambit: Pulled it off in the first OVA against two {{Jerkass}} students insulting Class F's MaidCafe. It works. [[WholesomeCrossdresser And he's dressed in a]] [[{{Meido}} maid outfit.]]
* YourApprovalFillsMeWithShame: Mizuki and Minami think he's cute in girl's clothing. Even Hideyoshi thinks so. He doesn't take these compliments very well.

Self-appointed Representative of Class F and a close friend of Akihisa. Despite his low grades, he's quite the brilliant tactician and strategist, and always thinks up of plans to beat enemy classes.
----
* AllAccordingToPlan: [[ZigZaggingTrope Zig zagged]] for comedic effect, but he always ''acts'' like things are going as planned.
* AlmightyJanitor: Amongst the class reps, his academic ability is often underestimated as the weakest, but it's shown that when he does study he's on par with Shouko.
* AttractiveBentGender: He wound up taking the role of a [[StatuesqueStunner huge]] [[AnimeChineseGirl Chinese]] [[ForeignFanservice girl]] in Episode 2 of Season 2 courtesy of Shouko.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: He is Class F's ClassRepresentative, so naturally, he's one of their best fighters.
* BetaCouple: With Shouko. Although, their relationship is just "uncomplicated" in the sense that Shouko doesn't have a love rival. She actually can abuse Yuuji even worse than how Mizuki and Minami treat Akihisa.
* BigGood: For all intents and purposes, Yuuji, as Class F's representative, would technically be this.
* BigNo: After he sees that [[spoiler:his future self is completely "[[BoundAndGagged submissive]]" to Shouko.]]
* BlatantLies: Tells them all the time. And Akihisa falls for them. Every. Single. Time.
* BluntMetaphorsTrauma: He'd get a saying wrong every now and then. Akihisa always corrects him right after.
* BrilliantButLazy: He has not only proven to be a Class A level student once he legitimately tries, but also a ChildProdigy who is quite possibly ''the'' smartest character in the series. [[spoiler:Later on during their third year, he is now in class 3-A and is the president of the disciplinary council, with Toshimitsu Kubo as the vice president.]]
* ButtMonkey: Not as bad as Akihisa, of course, but Yuuji gets plenty of punishment from Shouko, often times for things out of his control.
* CharacterDevelopment: Twice, according to the story. Not as subtle as Akihisa's also.
** First was when [[spoiler:his sempais tried to bully Shouko who was only protecting him. He turned from an InsufferableGenius into a BrilliantButLazy [[TheHero hero]]]].
** Second was when [[spoiler:Class A first defeated Class F. He still kept his BrilliantButLazy trait, but he's now showing some signs of being a BadassBookworm]]. Although it's (supposedly) revealed that [[spoiler:Shouko forced him to study or else they'll get married immediately]].
* TheChessmaster: He's a superb strategist when it comes to planning a class war. Everyone has a role to play in ensuring victory, and Yuuji's specialty is making sure it all lines up.
** To put this into greater perspective, look no further than Episode 11 of the Season 2 anime where he is shown in Class 2-A coordinating the second years in the summoner war against the third years. Every second year student from classes A to F dutifully goes along with his plans which eventually result in their victory.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: With Shouko. They've known each other for so long the school contacts ''her'' to relay messages from Yuuji's family to him if he can't be reached. He also borrows her belongings without a second thought, indicating he's much more settled in their long relationship that he cares to admit. Despite his protests to the contrary, he does like Shouko back, but is scared of how much of an abusive {{Yandere}} she is.
* ChildProdigy: As a child, he was actually brilliant, easily rivaling Shouko's intelligence. As he got older, however, he began giving up on his academic pursuits. [[spoiler:Although in the light novel 12.5 After Story, he began studying again and is now in Class A during their third year.]]
* ClassRepresentative: He serves as Class F's, having the most leadership qualities, strategic intelligence and charisma. As the class rep, if Yuuji is defeated during a class war, his entire class immediately loses.
* CombatPragmatist: Yuuji will not hesitate to cheat or manipulate his way to victory if he sees no other choice.
* CripplingOverspecialization: You want plans and strategies? He's your man. Unfortunately, there's no guarantee that he'll successfully execute his own part when it comes to the studying. He realizes this and goes on to subvert it in time, to the point where his Summoned Being becomes one of the three best fighters statistically in Class F, and one of the better fighters overall.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Red eyes and hair, showing his assertive personality.
* DeadpanSnarker: Always has a cutting remark for Akihisa at any given time.
* DeclarationOfProtection: He won't admit it, but he did this for Shouko. [[spoiler:He pulled a BigDamnHeroes moment to save Shouko from 3 boys who tried to bully her after she tried to stop them from writing some vicious lies on his PE clothing; he tried to come up with an excuse not to help, but in the end saves her. Although [[IWasJustPassingThrough he tries to pass it off as nothing]], Shouko is really touched by that action that she vows to his mother to marry him someday.]]
* {{Deuteragonist}}: Gets progressively more of the story to himself as his relationship with Shouko gives his character equal romantic importance as Akihisa.
* DevotedToYou: Shouko has made her lifelong dream to become his wife someday. She says she will go to wherever he goes, even if that means going to school on weekends or not going on days of the week.
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: Does this '''[[OlympusMons TO TEACHERS]].'''
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: [[spoiler:The Queer's Poll of Volume 10.5 displayed this. He's so popular that his comments were "censored". But since Yuuko is shown to be commenting in Akihisa's poll, Shouko might be responsible for some of these comments as well.]]
* FieryRedhead: Although he is usually cool and calculating, Yuuji can just as easily be loud and passionate.
* ForegoneConclusion: Him marrying Shouko. He'll either concede in the end or be forcefully dragged to the altar. [[spoiler:Volume 11 reveals that he wants to do it on his terms, not Shouko's.]]
* FourIsDeath: In one of the shorts, he was playing "The King Game" with the gang. As Shouko drew "King" and Yuuji drew 4, well, [[BoundAndGagged you know what happens next]].
* FutureLoser: His older version of summon being seems imply that he will ultimately become Shouko's love slave.
* TheGadfly: Loves screwing with Akihisa.
* GeneralRipper: PlayedForLaughs but he has no problem with using his fellow F Class students as [[RedShirt cannon fodder]] against the enemy.
-->'''Yuuji:''' “—In terms of fighting strength, the guys from F class aren’t worth weeping over, even if they’re used as baits or pawns.”
* GoodOldFisticuffs: His avatar's fighting style, and Yuuji himself is quite the capable fighter, too.
* GoofyPrintUnderwear: Wears pink boxers polka-dotted with red hearts. Akihisa just thinks he wears them because of [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cool_Biz_campaign Cool Biz]].
* HeadDesk: He'd do this after Shouko says something off while they were still young. He can slam his head onto the desk so hard it shakes the entire classroom enough to make the blackboard fall down
-->'''Shouko:''' In our entire class, I've got the biggest of the boobies.\
'''Yuuji:''' [''[[HeadDesk slams his head on the desk]]'']
* HenpeckedHusband: Although they aren't officially married, Shouko already calls Yuuji her husband and won't let him have a say in the matter. Shouko often treats Yuuji as her prisoner rather than a boyfriend, even chaining him up and taking him on {{Captive Date}}s with her. And [[DoubleStandardAbuseFemaleOnMale the henpecking]] is supposed to be [[PlayedForLaughs funny]].
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Akihisa. They're {{best friend}}s and often hang out together when their love interests aren't around.
* {{Hunk}}: Compare to almost every other male character, Yuuji is tall and broad shouldered, but still very good looking.
* InsecureLoveInterest: Despite him rejecting Shouko's [[{{Yandere}} dangerous advances]] on a frequent basis, when Yuuji actually talks about his relationship with her, he makes it out like [[ItsNotYouItsMe it's all his fault that she's fallen in love with a worthless guy like him]] and he thinks [[SingleTargetSexuality he held her back]] for seven years.
-->'''Yuuji:''' ''I want to set her free.''
* InsufferableGenius: As a kid. [[spoiler: Does a 180 after that incident with Shouko when they were young]].
* IronButtMonkey: Concerning Shouko.
* JackOfAllStats: To the rest of Class F's main cast, kinda. Once he studied seriously following his first defeat, his grades rival those of Class B, and it is hinted that he could make grades of a Class A Caliber student as well. However, his primary contribution to the class wars is still making up plans and strategizing, and the rest of the students specialize in subjects where they can go toe-to-toe with him, or even potentially surpass him in. And of course, Mizuki Himeji beats him in about every subject, but Yuuji boasts better physical health and stamina and doesn't need to rest as much as her.
* KeystoneArmy: If he's beaten, his class loses the war they're participating in.
* KnightInShiningArmor: Played with. It was part of his scheme to get back at two senior jerks who made fun of his class's MaidCafe in the OVA. However, the first time he did it for Akihisa was played straight.
** Played straight with Shouko, with a bit of hesitation at first, when they were young. He hatched up a plan to get three Grade 6 students He did not want Shouko to be involved whatsoever or else face transfer. But he also don't want to fight as he knows he'll lose to three upperclassmen. Cue a BattleInTheCenterOfTheMind with his older self who's taunting him about [[FakeUltimateHero just making excuses so he can save his own ass]]. He gets better, and saves Shouko. Too bad it had the effect he didn't absolutely want.
* TheLancer: During day to day life, he's Akihisa's laid back, witty and focused foil who is almost always there to help him out. During summoning wars he acts more like TheSmartGuy, as he spends more time making strategies than he does on the front lines.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Bad things return to him. Lock up Akihisa to use him as a bait? [[spoiler:Class F]] will just kill them both. Laughed at Akihisa for drinking Tabasco? Shouko swaps Akihisa's glass with his.
* LightningBruiser: If he actually tries (and we mean actually!), his grades rival a high ranking Class A student.
* LimitBreak: His summon simply turns one of its [[RocketPunch fists into a grenade]], [[GrenadeLauncher launching it at a target]], dealing massive damage that is oftentimes a OneHitKill. Akihisa, Minami, and even Mizuki were victimized by this. The catch, however, is that it's accuracy is pretty low, requiring for the enemy to be distracted while he charges it up.
* MarshmallowHell: From Shouko in Episode 4 of Season 2. She does this to Yuuji to confirm once and for all whether or not he really doesn't find her attractive. [[BlatantLies Though Yuuji feebly denies he is enjoying it]], his avatar leaping for joy (the upgraded Summons speak and reveal their summoners' thoughts and repressed feelings) reveals that Shouko's physical charms are not lost on him.
* NoGuyWantsToBeChased: Besides wanting to "set her free", the reason why Yuuji can't reciprocate Shouko's feelings is the fact that he is horrified at her [[{{Yandere}} extreme efforts]].
* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler:With Shouko, as of volume 11.]]
* OnlySaneMan: In regards to Hideyoshi's gender, he seems to be the only one who acknowledges the fact that Hideyoshi is a guy; though it seems like even he is starting to have doubts about that...
-->'''Yuuji''': To be honest, that face looks like a girl no matter what, but he’s a real man. But even if I say so, I've been wondering recently whether Hideyoshi was a real guy or not.
-->'''Hideyoshi''': I suddenly had a feeling that my last wall of defense collapsed for a moment there.
-->'''Yuuji''': You must be mistaken. You’re probably tired, right?
* RousingSpeech: He likes giving these to his classmates, such as decrying the [[RankedByIQ IQ-based]] [[UrbanSegregation classification]] the school imposes upon its students.
* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend: With Shouko. However, Shouko herself refuses to believe this, [[spoiler:until Volume 11 when she suddenly got a competitor]].
* ShipTease: With Shouko. Most characters--even ''[[ObliviousToLove Akihisa]]''--[[ShipperOnDeck approve of this]].
** While we're at it, let's count the number of [[HoYay moments]] between him and Akihisa.
* TheSmartGuy: The overall brains behind all of the boys's antics, and the key strategist during class wars.
* TheSnarkKnight: Has an overall cynical view of the school system, but always supports his friends and does his best for his class.
* TheStrategist: For Class F. [[spoiler:However, when the Second Years have to participate in a joint Summoning Wars with the Third Years, Nemoto acts as a CommanderContrarian to him, locking down his suggestions and essentially preventing him from being heard, with big consequences latter on.]]
* ThrowTheDogABone:
** Even if Class F wins a Summoned Being battle, Yuuji declines to penalize the losing class with a room exchange. He has his reasons--as he confided to Akihisa, he doesn't want his classmates to become complacent, at least not until they beat Class A.
** Did this again in Volume 9 of the light novels. After they defeated Class C, [[spoiler: they finally agreed to switch classrooms with them]], but it didn't stop there. Class F promptly challenges Class E to a summoning war soon after, in which they, again, won. What did Yuuji do? [[spoiler: Trade their superior Class C facilities with Class E]], much to the surprise of the principal.
* {{Tsundere}}: He may [[SheIsNotMyGirlfriend deny having feelings for]] [[{{Yandere}} Shouko]] and act like her extremely aggressive advances are nothing but a nuisance, but Yuuji does like her back and cares about her more than anyone. His attitude is very {{justified|trope}} because it's a combination of deep-rooted fear of Shouko's {{Yandere}}ness after years of being abused by her and a belief that she deserves better than him.
* TranquilFury: [[spoiler: At the end of Volume 10, Yuuji is so angry at the principal for interfering with Muttsurini's last blow to Shouko (which would have resulted in the victory of Class F against Class A) to the point that he signaled Akihisa to prepare 4 dozen bats with nails and Hideyoshi to prepare a shovel (as the land at the back of the hill is rather hard) while chatting with the principal. Even Akihisa told the principal to go away in order to prevent staining the carpet with blood.]]
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Akihisa--they frequently [[VolleyingInsults hurl insults]] on each other, but when troubles comes they're quick to join forces.
* WildCard: He occasionally pulls his avatar out of the blue to reveal incredibly high stats and promptly curbstomp his opponent, but just as frequently reveals that he didn't prepare at all and his avatar is only slightly better than Akihisa's. While Yuuji is definitely at least Class F's second most formidable fighter, he's pretty much the least reliable one.
* WouldHitAGirl: [[spoiler: In Season 2, Episode 7, he knocks out Miharu with a karate chop, though it was weak and PlayedForLaughs.]]
* ZergRush: Some of his plans thus far include sending more troops if the first few don't work, such as in Episode 12 of the anime and Episodes 5-7 of Season 2 (Volume 3 of the light novel).

One of the smartest students in Fumizuki, who got stuck in Class F after missing the placement exam due to a freak fever and thus automatically scored a zero. She's the [[StoneWall meat shield]] that keeps Class F afloat in a Summoned Being battle. She has a crush on Akihisa, though he doesn't seem to notice, and tries to win him over with her cooking, but one bite is all it took to cause all her classmates to fear her dishes.
----
* AlmightyJanitor: She's got the power of a Class A student, but the poor girl got shoehorned into Class F for missing the placement exams due to falling ill.
* ApologeticAttacker: Due to her overwhelming academic power, she often says before securing victory.
* BadassAdorable: Class F's strongest student is also mutually agreed upon as one of the cutest girls in the school.
* BattleBallgown: Her avatar wears a red dress with a metal breastplate along with gauntlets on her arms and graves over her legs.
* BettyAndVeronica: The Betty to Minami's Veronica towards Akihisa's Archie. Mizuki is the cute and ([[BewareTheNiceOnes mostly]]) sweet girl who has liked Akihisa since elementary school. It's a bit {{downplayed|trope}} since her {{Yandere}} [[ClingyJealousGirl fits of jealousy]] show that she really isn't less problematic than her {{Tsundere}} love rival.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Most of the time, she acts as the most polite and gentle girl in the whole cast. However, when Akihisa does something to make her jealous, she goes into {{Yandere}} mode.
* {{BFS}}: Her avatar's weapon is a sword bigger than she is.
* BigDamnHeroes: Class F would have certainly lost their first war with Class E had it not been for Mizuki's surgical strike.
* TheBigGirl: Mizuki is the biggest powerhouse in Class F because she has some of the highest grades in the entire school and her avatar is nearly unbeatable in a duel of any school subject.
* BookSmart: The only reason why Mizuki is in Class F is because she was sick on the day of the placement exam, which made her automatically score a zero. In fact, her grades are only second to Shouko's, the top student of their year. This makes Mizuki Class F's biggest trump card in the summon battles.
* BustContrastDuo: With Minami, the other girl in Class F and her love rival. Mizuki has [[DCupDistress too much,]] Minami has [[ACupAngst too little]].
* BuxomBeautyStandard: She's well-endowed, much to the [[ACupAngst horror of flat-chested girls]] like Minami and Shouko, since both feel threatened by Mizuki's figure stealing the attention of their love interests.
* CantHoldHerLiquor: In the manga, a can of beer ([[FrothyMugsOfWater in the anime, spiked chocolate]]) is more than enough to get her tipsy.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: Mizuki went to the same elementary school as Akihisa and they have felt attracted to each other for years, but he's clueless and she's too shy to tell him how she feels.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Mizuki gets easily jealous of Minami taking the lead against her towards Akihisa, and [[DudeLooksLikeALady Hideyoshi]], believe it or not.
* CovertPervert: She would enjoy watching [[{{Blackmail}} Akihisa strip as punishment for not revealing his household secrets to the gang]]. She certainly would enjoy seeing him in drag, too.
-->'''Mizuki:''' I think Minami-chan will use this chance to touch Akihisa-kun's chest and butt...that's too sneaky...
-->'''Minami:''' Wh, what are you saying, Mizuki! How can I do such a thing—eh, what? What did you just say? Touching...Mizuki, what were you talking about...
-->'''Mizuki:''' Ah! No, nothing! [[BlatantLies I'm not talking about touching him sneakily]]. Th, that... I'm just talking about improving the relationship with Akihisa-kun. I just said it wrongly!
-->'''Minami:''' Mizuki..what were you planning to do to Aki...
* CrutchCharacter: She is the only consistently powerful member of Class F and proves to be a major boon during all combat, but the scale of summoning wars is so great that it makes it impossible for the team to rely solely on her.
* DCupDistress: She complains that her large breasts are heavy and she can't find bras of her size.
* DelicateAndSickly: She's frail in terms of physical health and stamina, which means she must rest more often than other Class F members. She would have landed in Class A if had she not fallen ill during the entrance exam.
* {{Determinator}}: She will always take one for the team, especially when they're in dire straits. She did take 7 replenishment exams in 5 hours, no breaks, to cover for a recovering Akihisa during a summoning war with Class C.
* DissonantSerenity: When in {{Yandere}} mode, she remains ever-smiling, even as she ''orders'' Akihisa to wear a skirt for her.
* DoesNotKnowHerOwnStrength: As one of the highest scorers in school, Himeji has a bit of trouble dealing with slightly more delicate tasks like Summoner baseball. Her pitches took out members of both her own team and the opponents'. Adding to this she can't aim well...
* DoubleStandardAbuseFemaleOnMale: While she doesn't utilize this as much as Minami, she is often just as willing to punish Akihisa for real or perceived wrongs against her, such as when he tries to get [[DudeLooksLikeALady Hideyoshi]] to strip in a card game, or putting heavy stone blocks on his legs for allegedly trying to sneak a peek into the girl's bathhouse in the second season. If the roles were reversed, Akihisa would probably get thrown in jail pretty quickly.
* ExpressiveAccessory: Her bunny hair clip reflects her mood.
* FoodPorn: Her food looks incredibly tasty. Too bad [[LethalChef the same can't be said about its taste]].
* FormerlyFat: To the point she had the EmbarrassingNickname "Yuki-chan" ("Snowman"). Makes good on the saying "fat in middle school becomes breasts in high school". The main reason she's such a LethalChef is because she refuses to taste-test her cooking out of the fear that she'll gain weight again.
* FromRoommatesToRomance: Later in the novels, Mizuki's parents are stuck in another country for a while and she ends up living with Akihisa and Akira. This only adds to her UnresolvedSexualTension with Akihisa.
* GirlyBruiser: The very feminine Mizuki's summoned being is a broadsword-swinging powerhouse.
* HypocriticalHumor: During Episode 4 of Season 2, she tricks Akihisa into calling his Summon, wanting to know his secrets since the upgraded Summoned beings blurt out the summoner's thoughts, secrets, and repressed feelings, only to act all hurt and betrayed when he dupes her into calling her own Summon using a similar trick.
* InVinoVeritas: Getting the usually demure Mizuki drunk either makes her go bold or on a full-blown {{Yandere}} rampage.
* InformedAbility: Despite boasting some of the highest grades in the school in every subject, she is generally presented as being naive and fairly ditzy. What stops her from being a case of a DitzyGenius is that the "genius" part of the title is only shown through her avatar's stats and not through her actions.
* ItWasAGift: Her rabbit hair clip was a gift from Akihisa when they were in elementary school.
* KnightInShiningArmor: Appearance-wise, her avatar looks like a female knight and it's almost always her job to win the battle for Class F.
* LethalChef: Her cooking looks delicious, but it actually tastes awful and has some ingredients that are potentially lethal.[[note]]Baka-Tsuki [[http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Baka_to_Tesuto_to_Syokanju:Volume6.5_Fumizuki_News_Column translated]] one of Himeji's recipes; for those not up on their inorganic chemistry, "King's Water" is called as such because it is one of the few solvents that can ''dissolve solid gold''[[/note]] She's [[LethallyStupid unaware]] of it because she doesn't taste-test her cooking out of the fear that she'll gain weight, since she was FormerlyFat. Yuuji later figures out how to [[ScrewballSerum weaponize her cooking]].
* LimitBreak: Her summon turns into a Wheel of Death... sorta, which will mow down everything in its path.
* LoveBubbles: Gets these a lot. Viewed from outside, there's a bubbly pink sphere extending a few feet from her.
%%* LovelyAngels: With Shouko in Episode 7.
* NiceGirl: She's normally very polite, kind and gentle, unless she thinks Akihisa might be interested in another girl.
* PatientChildhoodLoveInterest: Mizuki has had a crush on Akihisa since elementary school. However, [[ObliviousToLove he has no idea about her feelings]] because she has never been direct enough and he's too much of a moron to notice.
* PurpleIsPowerful: Her eyes and BattleAura are colored purple, and she is the strongest student in Class F.
* RoseHairedSweetie: She has pink hair and is very nice and sweet. [[BewareTheNiceOnes Most]] [[CuteAndPsycho of the]] [[{{Yandere}} time]].
* SignatureHeadgear: She has a small rabbit hair clip on the left side, which was a gift from her crush Akihisa. The anime uses said rabbit as her character icon.
* SingleTargetSexuality: In a one-shot light novel story where everyone in the cast ''but'' Mizuki [[GenderBender has their sex changed]], she quickly decides she likes girl Akihisa anyway. Thought it was AllJustADream, [[MaybeMagicMaybeMundane it may have been a projection of her actual thoughts]], and hardly seems surprising given how much Mizuki likes seeing Akihisa crossdressing.
* TaremeEyes: Her eyes are big and droopy, which goes along with her usually nice and demure personality.
* ThroughHisStomach: She likes cooking for her guy. It might actually taste good if she tested it.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Mizuki is the gentle Girly Girl to Minami's brash Tomboy.
* TranquilFury: Whenever she's angry, Himeji acts ''happier'' and glows with an ominous BattleAura.
* TwiceShy: With Akihisa. They have liked each other for years, but both get shy around each other and neither dares to make the first move.
* UnknownRival: To Hideyoshi, who is very much unaware that Mizuki and Minami consider him a rival for Akihisa's heart.
* WeightWoe: Mizuki is concerned about her weight and this is the reason she doesn't taste her own food. It becomes understandable when you learn [[FormerlyFat she was fat in the past]].
* {{Yandere}}: PlayedForLaughs. She will often emit a murderous aura and display DullEyesOfUnhappiness whenever she hears that Akihisa is with some other woman, like when Yuuji claimed that Akihisa was dating a college girl. This side of her tends to increase more and more as the series goes on.

The other female student in Class F. She spent most of her life in Germany, making her bad at reading kanji despite being fairly intelligent. Like Mizuki, she also has a crush on Akihisa; which she expresses by literally crushing him with wrestling moves whenever he misreads her intentions, which is quite often.
----
* ACupAngst: She has a complex about her small bust size. Just a mere insinuation at her being small makes her lose it.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Back when Minami was new at the school, Akihisa was the first to ask her to be his friend. Being [[IdiotHero who he is]], he asked her in French instead of German, but Minami still appreciated the thought and has liked him ever since.
* BerserkButton: If anyone, especially Akihisa, makes a comment that even remotely insinuates [[ACupAngst how small her chest is]], Minami will retaliate violently.
* BettyAndVeronica: The Veronica to Mizuki's Betty towards Akihisa's Archie. Minami is a violent {{Tsundere}} who grew up in another country. Like Mizuki, Minami has a crush on Akihisa and gets terribly jealous when she thinks Akihisa might be interested in someone else.
%%* BetweenMyLegs: In Episode 4.
* BustContrastDuo: With Mizuki, the other girl in Class F and her love rival. Minami has [[ACupAngst too little,]] Mizuki has [[DCupDistress too much]].
* CannotSpitItOut: Akihisa has actually flat out asked her if she was interested in him and they'd be the perfect happy couple if she just said yes. But she got too flustered to actually admit it.
* CatSmile: Her avatar frequently wears one.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Minami ''hates'' it when Akihisa shows interest in any other girl. Even the implication of interest in anyone but her is enough to make her pound him.
* CovertPervert: She secretly collects perverted photos of Akihisa (from the same source, Kouta, no less), and is very encouraging of the prospect of Akihisa getting naked.
* CripplingOverspecialization: She does well in math, but not anywhere else. This is justified because the time she spent in Germany made her forget how to read kanji, making every other subject nigh-impossible for her to understand.
* CuteBruiser: She looks cute even while doing suplexes.
* DoubleStandardAbuseFemaleOnMale: She loves hitting Akihisa or putting him in wrestling holds (and in one instance, breaking his back).
* EloquentInMyNativeTongue: The reason why she's in F class is that, having lived in Germany most of her life, she only reads Japanese at an elementary-school level. She can speak Japanese fluently now, though.
* OnlyHasSameSexAdmirers: She gets confessions from girls on occasion, but none of them are nearly as persistent as [[PsychoLesbian Miharu]].
* EverybodyHatesMathematics: Inverted--math is the only subject she does well. {{Justified|Trope}} in that spending most of her life in Germany made her forget how to read kanji, making every other subject nigh-impossible for her to understand.
* EveryoneHasStandards: She may be a master of the UnprovokedPervertPayback, but she was not pleased in the second OVA when Akihisa and Yuuji tried to use fireworks to stop the Tokonatsu duo from exposing their cheating. She was completely right; not only were they going too far (they were lucky they didn't get expelled outright), but the money she worked hard to help earn went to repairing the damage rather than improving the classroom like they planned it to.
* ExoticWeaponSupremacy: In the second OVA, she wields a Mace-Scythe.
* ExpositoryPronoun: She uses the female first-person pronoun "uchi" (which is usually reserved for the Kansai dialect) instead of the more typical "watashi" or "atashi". She started doing this because when she was still learning to speak Japanese, Akihisa kept mishearing her saying "watashi" as "[[GratuitousEnglish what the shit]]".
* ExpressiveAccessory: Her hair ribbon sometimes perks up or falls down to reflect her mood.
* FieryRedhead: Her reddish hair hints at her more aggressive and outgoing nature.
* FirstKiss: [[spoiler:With Akihisa.]]
* ForcefulKiss: [[spoiler:Steals Akihisa's FirstKiss, believing Akihisa returns her feelings and would be consenting.]]
* GlassCannon: If the subject is math, she hits like a truck. If it's anything else, she's almost as screwed as Akihisa.
* GoodWithNumbers: So long as she doesn't have to read any Japanese...
* GratuitousGerman: According to Hazuki, Minami goes on [[ForeignLanguageTirade a breakdown babbling in German when upset]].
* HeritageDisconnect: She's Japanese but has lived in Germany for most of her life; as a result, she's almost completely unable to read and write in her own native language, which is what lands her in Class F.
* JoustingLance: Her upgraded avatar's weapon of choice, alongside with a shield.
* JustFriends: Much to Minami's dismay, Akihisa treats her as a member of his group of friends instead of a potential love interest, unlike he does with Himeji. [[HopeSpot BUT!!!!]] He does tell a few people he finds her charming.
* LanguageBarrier: She was raised in Germany and struggled with learning Japanese when her family returned to Japan. By the events of the story, she has completely overcome the barrier.
* LimitBreak: Her summon performs a tornado-like SpinAttack that repeatedly chips away chunks of points. Complete with SuperMovePortraitAttack. She also has another move that summons a giant blade that can smash several opponents at once.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Her upgraded avatar's weapon of choice alongside with the lance.
* TheMaidenNameDebate: Volume 10 revealed that she thinks that when she marries Akihisa, she wants him to [[TookTheWifesName change his surname to Shimada]], as "Minami Yoshii" sounds a bit ''weird''.
* RoyalRapier: Her avatar's weapon of choice is a sabre.
* SheCleansUpNicely: Akihisa can be dumbstruck when he sees Minami in nice, girlier outfits like a yukata.
* SheIsAllGrownUp: Noted by Akihisa when he meets [[http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=File:BTS_vol_10.5_143.jpg "grown up"]] Minami in Volume 10.5. However, her breasts are just 'future C Cup breast pad'.
* {{Shorttank}}: Short-tempered, violent, tomboyish yet keeps several girly interests, beats up the male protagonist a lot while clearly having a crush on him.
* SignatureHeadgear: She always wears a distinctive yellow bow to tie back her ponytail. Said bow is her character icon in the anime.
* SignificantGreenEyedRedhead: Has the key combination, marking her as an important character, and potential love interest to Akihisa.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Minami is the brash Tomboy to Mizuki's gentle Girly Girl.
* TomboyishPonytail: She has a ponytail kept up with a large yellow bow, making it easy to spot her as the less feminine girl in Class F.
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: She's easily seen as a tomboy through her more aggressive demeanor, tomboyish outfits, and physical strength. She still enjoys girly activities like personality tests and likes romantic stuff.
* {{Tsundere}}: Harsh type. She constantly beats up poor Akihisa at the slightest provocation, overreacts over small misunderstandings, gets jealous easily, denies that she likes him, and yet it's obvious that she has a huge crush on him.
* TsurimeEyes: As opposed to Mizuki's softer TaremeEyes, Minami's eyes are sharper, hinting at her more masculine personality and her role as the series' {{Tsundere}}.
* UnknownRival: To Hideyoshi, who is completely unaware that she and Mizuki consider him a rival for Akihisa's heart.
* WrestlerInAllOfUs: Whenever Akihisa mentions her small chest, she locks him in painful wrestling moves.

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/EmiriKatou (JP) and Creator/BrinaPalencia (EN)

A student with a talent for acting, whose extremely effeminate looks caused characters and audiences alike to question their sexuality. Everybody frequently mistakes him for a girl despite his insistence to the contrary, is considered by Mizuki and Minami as a rival for Akihisa's affection, occasionally gets confessed to by Akihisa, has a separate space reserved for him in dressing rooms, and keeps getting female roles and costumes from the Drama Department. The only person who considers him a guy is Akihisa's sister Akira--because she didn't expect Akihisa to have any female friends. He has difficulty studying serious subjects, and is pretty much the opposite of his twin sister Yuuko, who happens to be in Class A.
----
* AmbiguouslyBi: He is flustered whenever he's forced into the girls dressing room, suggesting that he may be attracted to women. While he's annoyed by all of the male attention he gets, Akihisa included, there are occasional hints that he ''may'' like Akihisa as more than a friend, which pushes him into this territory.
* AntiquatedLinguistics: Speaks mainly in ancient Japanese. In the English dub... not so much.
* AttractiveBentGender: Akihisa and Muttsulini just love taking pictures of him crossdressing.
* BeautifulDreamer: So beautiful Akihisa [[DudeShesLikeInAComa tried to kiss him once]]; it was even lampshaded in the novels.
* BerserkButton: He really hates it when people sell him female clothing when he asks for male ones, as well when he wears male clothing and people make him switch to female ones.
* BrilliantButLazy: Not to the degree of Yuuji, but Hideyoshi is shown to be a pretty sharp guy who is generally far more interested in pursuing acting than he is doing school work.
* ButtMonkey: Not as bad as Akihisa, but no one will ever call him a guy at first glance, even when he insists otherwise. This obviously has caused him a bit of trouble in "I'm a guy" situations.
* CatchPhrase: More or less "I'm a guy", when he does or uses into non-female related things, and someone asks him why he did so.
* ChildhoodFriends: He's known Akihisa since first grade, and has been with him since then in every class.
* CooldownHug: During the Study Camp arc, he had to do this to calm Akihisa when he went berserk baying for Yuuji's blood... ItsALongStory.
* CripplingOverspecialization: Does fine in Classics, which is a subject he got interested in because of his hobby.
* DeadpanSnarker: He does sometimes snark in his usual quiet and polite manner, especially towards Akihisa's InsaneTrollLogic.
* DistressedDude: PlayedForLaughs in OVA one where the two {{jerkass}} students kidnapped him because "he was the best looking one of the group".
* DraggedIntoDrag: He's often put into cross-dressing outfits against his will.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: Incredibly so, to the point that ''everyone'' mistakes him for a girl and very little know that he is actually a guy despite him saying so. He even has his own exclusive bathhouse room just because of this.
* EasilyForgiven: Due to his [[DudeLooksLikeALady appearance]] and [[NiceGuy personality]], he was the only boy to escape "punishment" by the girls during the Study Camp arc (Volume 3 light novels, Episodes 5 to 7 of Season 2).
* EffeminateVoice: Hideyoshi is an extremely girly-looking boy, to the point everyone treats him as his own gender. Adding to the DudeLooksLikeALady gag, Hideyoshi is voiced by a woman, who also does the voice for his twin sister.
* AFriendInNeed: He joins in the antics of the others probably because its what friends do, although its still a mystery how he can get away from the consequences when it goes downhill.
* GayOption: PlayedForLaughs, but he's this to Akihisa. Mizuki and Minami view him as a love rival and Akihisa is ''very'' open about finding Hideyoshi hot despite knowing Hideyoshi is a guy with a girly face.
* HalfIdenticalTwins: The only physical difference between him and his twin Yuuko is that he's a guy ([[DudeLooksLikeALady even though he doesn't look like it]]) and she's a girl.
* HandOrObjectUnderwear: Sometimes, he uses his arms as censors.
* TheHeart: The only member of Class F who isn't a sociopath, a jerkass or some combination of the two. He also tends to be the only one who keeps it together during stressful situations.
* HeroicBSOD: When Tsunemura of 3-A confessed ''his'' feelings for him. Quoth Akihisa:
-->"On that day... for the first time in my life... I heard Hideyoshi scream."
* IdenticalTwinIDTag: Because he and his twin sister Yuuko look so identical despite him being a boy, the only ways to tell them apart are their school uniforms (Hideyoshi wears the male one, Yuuko wears the female one) and their hair clips (Hideyoshi wears two white hair clips that separate his bangs, Yuuko wears two black hair clips on the left side).
* IfItsYouItsOkay: May actually be the case towards Akihisa as of the later novels.
* KatanasAreJustBetter: His upgraded avatar wields one, replacing the naginata.
* LargeHam: Only when he's acting though, otherwise he's hands down the most low key guy in the show.
* LuminescentBlush: Like all of the other love interests of Akihisa, he is prone to this.
* MartialArtsHeadband: His upgraded avatar wears one.
* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy: Feminine Boy to Yuuko's Masculine Girl, much to the latter's chagrin. Also to Minami.
* MasterOfDisguise:
** One can dress him up as a girl and he can/will play the part very well. Including voice work in [[Creator/EmiriKatou both]] [[Creator/BrinaPalencia languages]].
** [[spoiler:In volume 10 he disguised himself as Kouta to stall Aiko for the latter to defeat Shouko in the summoning war.]]
* MasterOfNone: He lacks the single class specialty that Kouta and Minami have or the full control over his avatar that Akihisa has, but he compensates by having mediocre grades in all of his classes rather than terrible grades in all but one, meaning that he serves as solid back up during most fights.
* MeaningfulName: Hideyoshi means "good esteem"/"good excellence".
* {{Meido}}: He and his sister have worn the uniform before. You decide who looks prettier.
* MrFanservice: Though all the {{Fanservice}} related to him is clearly meant for male audiences. He's an extremely pretty guy who's often put into cross-dressing outfits against his will, has his own [[UnwantedHarem male harem]] and also has a twin sister. He even [[LampshadeHanging lampshades]] it.
-->'''Hideyoshi:''' Why was my transformation so dramatic?
* NaginatasAreFeminine: His avatar's weapon of choice, reflecting on his femininity. His upgraded version, however, ditches it in favor of a katana.
* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous: Hideyoshi's entire name is a reference to UsefulNotes/ToyotomiHideyoshi, one of Japan's unifiers: the surname "Kinoshita" used to belong to Toyotomi Hideyoshi before he changed his name, and obviously they share a first name.
* NiceGuy: He's the only guy in class who doesn't try to beat Akihisa up.
* NonActionGuy: While he's not nearly as horrible in his classes as most of Class F are, he's also not particularly good at any of them, meaning he's probably the least useful of the group during summoning battles. His talent for acting, on the other hand, makes him quite useful for things like espionage off the battlefield.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Deep down, Hideyoshi isn't all that different from the others in Class F. He'd occasionally "fit in" with his classmates' antics. One example is blushing over Akihisa's confessions.
* OnlyHasSameSexAdmirers: He's so girly-looking and cute that he's way more popular among guys than any girl in the series.
* OnlySaneMan: If it weren't for his appearance and voice, he'd be the nicest ''guy'' in Class F!
* PolarOppositeTwins: With Yuuko--he is not too smart but kind; she is smart but haughty.
* {{Reluctant Fanservice G|irl}}uy: As much as he wants to be acknowledged as a guy, Hideyoshi always ends up getting undressed or wearing cross-dressing outfits, to his great dismay.
* RunningGag: Never seems to get male clothing (apart from his uniform), and even if he does, its not going to be on him for long.
* SceneryCensor: His chest is always covered by something (a towel or a person's arm).
* SoBeautifulItsACurse: He's so beautiful no one believes him to be a guy, and gets confessions from guys just about everyday. [[invoked]] Then there's the poem a certain someone wrote to him which kind of gave him nightmares for a while.
* TheStoic: Not quite, but most people say he has a good poker face. Quite good considering how many confessions he gets from other guys.
* StupidSexyFlanders: He is biologically male and repeatedly says so, but because of his extremely girly looks he has about as much success in convincing people as [[VideoGame/GuiltyGear Bridget]] or [[VideoGame/SamuraiWarriors Ranmaru]]. This leads to quite a few awkward moments, especially when he gets chosen to be the official "round girl" for the summoning war in episode two of the anime. One joke is that "Hideyoshi" has become its own gender designation within the story as both men and women object to him changing in the men's room, and Hideyoshi himself refuses to enter the women's room.
* TakeAThirdOption: Between the boys' and the girls' rooms, he ended up at the "Hideyoshi Room". It applies to virtually any public facility where there are separate boys' and girls' section.
* TransformationSequence: PlayedForLaughs when he uses his summon and gets his own Sailor Moon-esque henshin (not his summon, mind you, Hideyoshi himself). He follows this up by immediately LeaningOnTheFourthWall afterward, saying, "Why am I the only one to get a transformation sequence?"
* TsurimeEyes: Always seen with softer, kind eyes.
* VoiceChangeling: His specialty in acting is voice mimicry, which has helped Class F in multiple situations.
* WhichRestroomDilemma: Hideyoshi has no problem with using the men's restroom, but the other guys won't let him. Since he can't use the girl's restroom, Hideyoshi has his own exclusive bathhouse room and changing room.
-->''signs read "Boy's Changing Room", "Girl's Changing Room", and "Hideyoshi's Changing Room"''\
'''Akishisa''': So is Hideyoshi a new gender?
* YankTheDogsChain: Poor Hideyoshi. Just when someone can finally tell he's a guy, [[IdiotHero Akihisa]] screws it all up and insists he's a girl.
* YeOldeButcheredeEnglishe: Some English fansubs render his speech as this.

A friend of Akihisa and pervert par excellence who is almost never seen without a camera on hand. Whenever he sees a potential panty/boob shot, he'll squeeze into whatever angle necessary for the best shot, and sells them for some cash. Akihisa seems especially interested whenever he takes a photo of [[AttractiveBentGender Hideyoshi]] in a sexy pose. He also turns out to be an excellent athlete, with Health and P.E. grades to rival even those of Class A, but is terrible at all other subjects.
----
* AttractiveBentGender: "Koumi" is extremely beautiful, and she loves to cosplay.
* BigDamnHeroes: Crashes into the window with Nakamura-sensei straight to where [[ClassRepresentative Nemoto]] is during the match against Class B, which pretty much sealed the deal for the battle.
* BlatantLies: Calls Aiko's swimsuit secondary interest. {{Nosebleed}} [[HilarityEnsues ensues]].
* CameraFiend: Always has a camera at the ready when short skirts are present. He even has videocam surveillance covered.
* CripplingOverspecialization: The stand-out example of Class F's students--he's good at health subjects and biology, and ''nothing else''. He is in fact so good at health and physical education [[spoiler:that he can easily defeat '''Shouko''', Class A's top student, if they battle in that subject]].
* CrutchCharacter: He's the go-to guy if you're in a summoning war and the subject is Health & PE, as he has the highest marks there [[spoiler:high enough to surpass the Class A's top student '''Shouko''']], possibly for the entire school sans Nakamura-sensei (possibly Takahashi-sensei as well, but it's already given she sucks at basic baseball rules, so...). He's useless everywhere else, however.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Both his hair and eyes are blue.
* CurbStompBattle: He possesses one of the highest, if not the highest, grade in a single subject (Health & PE) for the entire student body, so, naturally, if you fight him in his forte, expect this to happen.
* DeathAsComedy: His nosebleeds can get so severe he sometimes seems to die from them, and his friends will even mourn him. Of course, his "deaths" are always played for laughs due to the insane circumstances.
* FriendInTheBlackMarket: Want fan-service-y pictures of, say, Hideyoshi or Akihisa in girl's clothing? Well, Muttsulini can get you what you want...for a price.
* GameBreaker: InUniverse. Fighting him in a Health and PE match is tantamount to suicide. [[spoiler:He could have easily bested '''Shouko''' if the principal didn't turn off the summoning system in Volume 10.]]
* HighlyVisibleNinja: He should be wearing army urban camouflage instead of his trademark ninja clothes if he really wants to blend into the environment. Same goes for his Summoned Being.
* HollywoodHacking: Anytime he works with computers, he's always shown rapidly fiddling with the keys until he succeeds.
* HypocriticalHumor: '''He''', of all people, tells Akihisa not to be a pervert.
* IfItsYouItsOkay: Kouta likes the ladies, but if a feminine guy like Hideyoshi shows up, he will be there with a camera and a {{nosebleed}}. This is even after being told several times by both Hideyoshi and Yuuji that Hideyoshi is a boy.
* LovableSexManiac: A pervert whose actions would more than enough make him a sex offender in real life. He takes photos of panty shots or revealing breasts on a regular basis, as well as almost dying by nosebleed if he ever so much as catches a glimpse of it. Yet, he's always there to lend a hand when Class F's inner circle needs it, albeit only when it gives him the opportunity to indulge in his perversions.
* {{Ninja}}: He's so devoted to his peeping craft that he has acquired several ninja-like skills. Even his summoned being is one.
* {{Nosebleed}}: Easily bleeds the most frequently and dramatically of all the characters. His nosebleeds are sometimes so severe he needs a personal blood bag to survive them.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: In the Japanese version, everyone calls him "Muttsulini" ("Morose Pervert", or sometimes "Voyeur"). Even his own family does.
* TheQuietOne: Generally keeps to himself while focusing on getting a picture of the goods with his camera.
* TheRival: To Aiko, they both are good with technology, are at the top in Health and Physical Ed (Muttsulini being higher), and she likes to tease him a lot.
* SeriousBusiness: Peeping on girls, and taking high quality perverted photos.
* SingleStrokeBattle: His fight against Nemoto. His strike was so fast it even cut the battle screen in half. Could be considered his LimitBreak.
* TheSneakyGuy: Seems to have made himself a self-taught, modern day ninja, all for the sake of peeping. He is also adept at thievery and stealth should the situation call for it, and his ridiculously high score in Health and Physical Ed allows him to quickly surprise and assassinate key players for clutch victories.
* SobriquetSexSwitch: Early in season 2, Kouta is forced to join a BeautyContest under the name "Koumi" while wearing a wig and a female yukata.

[[folder:The FFF]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Liar_5194.jpg]]
A group consisting of the majority of male students within Class F, often seen wearing dark robes and hoods that hide their features. Since none of them have luck with girls, they formed a pact to hunt down anyone in their class who did. If they find a guy in Class 2-F winning affection from a girl, they will perform an Inquisition upon him. Even Akihisa has donned their robe at times (when he isn't a target).

The group has recently enlarged to make up 60% of the 2nd year classes, due to the system the group employs. A heretic is targeted and he is punished by the members, many soon become single after their judgement. Enraged at other heretics who kept their relationships the heretic ends up joining the inquisition and rooting out more heretics; thus continuing the cycle and ever increasing the FFF's numbers.

The only named student to be a part of this group in the anime is Ryo Sugawa, their leader, though other minor F Class members, such as Yokomizo and Fukumura, also take part in the light novel.
----
* BerserkButton: Mention a girl being nice and prepared to be crucified.
* BlatantLies: A survey displaying the opinions towards a rumor about Akihisa: "...after knowing about this suspicious incident, the F class' students view on the male student suspect are as follows- Death 32%, Deal Death Without Hesitation 25%, A Little Troubled But Death 23%, and Other Forms of Death 20%. As this was an important classmate they were punishing here, the students were severely divided over opinions."
* TheBroCode: Fits this to a T.
* CasanovaWannabe: Sugawa starts acting like this later in the light novels, even going far enough to make newspaper articles about why he's so "popular" and how he is "protecting" his first kiss from the girls.
* CavalryBetrayal:
** They help you in a summon war, but if they hear you were with a girl in any way they will turn on you, just ask Akihisa and Yuuji.
** In the second season, Sugawa appears to develop at least some level of friendship with Minami, which leads to the other [=FFFs=] targeting him as a heretic.
* TheFace: Ryo Sugawa, the leader and the only member with an actual identity.
* GreenEyedMonster: These dateless losers decide to hunt down any lucky guy who has girls swooning for him. Especially [[ChickMagnet Akihisa]].
* FacelessGoons: They are basically Class F's masked mooks, always wearing their signature cloaks.
* MalevolentMaskedMan: While cloaked, they gang up on and enviously punish any boy who is liked by girls.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Through their masks are always glowing red eyes.
* SuicideAttack: Fueled by envy of Nemoto having a girlfriend, they used a ZergRush version of this to decimate even Class B's superior students.
* {{Token Evil Teammate}}s: They make up the bulk of Class F, meaning they are always integral to supporting the main characters despite their horrible motivations.

The soft-spoken, if assertive, ClassRepresentative of 2-A. She was Yuuji's childhood friend, and now dreams of marrying him... whether he likes it or not.
----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: She's attractive and utterly devoted to becoming Yuuji's wife, but Yuuji is absolutely terrified of her obsessive {{Yandere}} behavior. It's {{downplayed|trope}} in the sense that Yuuji does have some feelings for her, but doesn't want to date her because she's way too possessive and physically abusive towards him.
* TheAce: She's good at everything [[HopelessWithTech except technology]].
* ActionGirl: She can also kick ass even when she's good at everything.
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: She's very pretty, calm and graceful (when she isn't in {{Yandere}} mode) and has long dark blue hair.
* AndNowYouMustMarryMe: PlayedForLaughs. She often threatens Yuuji by saying that if he doesn't do what he said he was going to, such as winning a competition, she'll force him to marry her immediately. It usually works.
* BadassBookworm: She's so smart that she's the most brainy and intelligent of Class 2-A due to her being good at everything.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: A large part of why she likes Yuuji so much is because he was the only person who would talk to her when everyone else seemed fearful of her status as a rich girl.
* BetaCouple: With Yuuji. Although, their relationship is just "uncomplicated" in the sense that Shouko doesn't have a love rival. She actually can abuse Yuuji even worse than how Mizuki and Minami treat Akihisa.
* BookSmart: As the ClassRepresentative of Class A, Shouko has the best grades of her year. Due to this, her avatar is near unbeatable in summon battles.
* BrainsAndBondage: She's the smartest student in the year and she likes to tie Yuuji up a lot.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: With Yuuji. She has wanted to marry him since they were in elementary school, but her forceful and possessive behavior makes him scared of her. [[spoiler:At the end of volume 11, Yuuji finally confesses his love to her.]]
* ChildhoodMarriagePromise: She promises this to Yuuji's mother after he saves her from some bullies, with [[ShipperOnDeck her complete blessing]] towards it.
* ClassRepresentative: The authority and leader of Class A, as well as the top student in the entire school.
* ClingyJealousGirl: The most dangerous one in the series. She won't allow Yuuji to even ''look'' at another pretty girl and repeatedly [[EyePoke pokes his eyes]] to prevent it. She doesn't even tolerate Yuuji getting along too well with ''other guys''.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Her hair and eyes are purple, because PurpleIsPowerful.
* {{Determinator}}: No matter how many times Yuuji turns her down or her attempts to marry him fail, she will never give up on him.
* DoubleStandardAbuseFemaleOnMale: Her abuse on Yuuji is one of the most extreme cases of this on record and it's taken to a scary degree. She [[EyePoke pokes his eyes]] until they're sore so [[ClingyJealousGirl he doesn't look at other girls]], routinely tazes him, [[StalkerWithACrush breaks into his house]], tries to [[DoubleStandardRapeFemaleOnMale rape him]], and [[IfICantHaveYou tries to kill him]] ''twice''. And not only does anyone not pay it any mind, but their friends actively [[ShipperOnDeck ship the pair]]. If their positions were reversed and Yuuji did even one-tenth of the things Shouko does to him, he would be reviled as a monster at the very least.
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: While most girls have a pale complexion, Shouko's pushes her eerie {{Yandere}} persona further when coupled with her TranquilFury and possessive nature.
* EmotionlessGirl: She rarely shows strong emotions to anyone other than Yuuji.
* EyePoke: She repeatedly pokes Yuuji's eyes to stop him from looking at other girls.
* FacePalmOfDoom: She tries to crush Yuuji's skull with her bare hand when she thinks he has dated another girl.
* FetishizedAbuser: She's Yuuji's self-proclaimed girlfriend/fiancée and everyone thinks she and Yuuji make a cute couple even though their relationship consists of nothing but Shouko subjecting Yuuji to horrific levels of physical abuse and treating him like her property. Shouko also forces him into doing couple activities with her while showing no concern for his wishes nor consent, even trying to force her way into his bed at least once.
* GodivaHair: During her naked FantasySequence from Akihisa, her hair covers her breasts.
* HeroicBSOD: Was teetering on one for the majority of the latter parts of Volume 11. Koyama's crush on Yuuji was a shock for her, and the fact that she was taking on the brunt of the paperwork did her no favours either.
* HimeCut: She's a downplayed case as has 2/3 on the style (long hair down the back and long sidelocks over her shoulders but no even bangs) and some of the associated character traits (soft-spoken and strange version of YamatoNadeshiko).
* HopelessWithTech: Technology is the only subject she's not good at.
* HypocriticalHumor: She told Aiko not to harass Kouta much. Guess what she did to Yuuji 15 seconds later.
* InsistentTerminology: If you ask her, she'll insist Yuuji is not her boyfriend, he's her ''husband''.
* KatanasAreJustBetter: Her avatar wields one, suiting her overall samurai theme.
* KeystoneArmy: Since she's the ClassRepresentative, her defeat means the defeat of the entire Class A.
* LonelyRichKid: Other kids were afraid to approach her as a result of her rich status. Only Yuuji treated her like a somewhat normal person, hence part of her interest in him.
%%* LovelyAngels: With Himeji in Episode 7.
* MadLove: Yuuji constantly tries to push her away and run away from her, but Shouko still considers him her husband and will make it official one day even if she has to force him into it.
* MistakenForGay: Because she is crazily in love with Yuuji, she rejects all men who want to go out with her. This initially created the impression to others that she is a lesbian.
* MsViceGirl: She'd be the perfect student and an ideal lover for Yuuji if not for her ''insane possessive tendencies''.
* NiceMeanAndInBetween: The In-between to Aiko's Nice and Yuuko's Mean.
* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler:She's dating Yuuji, as of volume 11.]]
* {{Ojou}}: She's the school's top student and daughter of a rich family, so she acts serene and elegantly - even while running down Yuuji with a taser.
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: She wears black tights with her school uniform, to go with her prim and proper appearance.
* RavenHairIvorySkin: A very beautiful girl with long dark hair and pale skin.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Yuuji's first sign that he should start running for his life.
* RedOniBlueOni: The calm blue to Yuuko's abrasive, prideful red.
* RescueRomance: When they were kids, Yuuji saved Shouko from [[spoiler:three boys who tried to bully her after she tried to stop them from writing some vicious lies on his PE clothing]]. Although [[IWasJustPassingThrough he tried to pass it off as nothing]], Shouko was so touched by that action that she vowed to marry him someday.
* SelfProclaimedLoveInterest: She declares herself Yuuji's wife. Everyone but Yuuji seems to agree with her.
* ShipTease: With Yuuji. She's [[ShipperOnDeck egged on by other characters]] -- including ''[[ObliviousToLove Akihisa]]''.
* SingleTargetSexuality: Even since she was a child, Yuuji has been the only man she wants to make her husband.
* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: Her interest in Yuuji began when he was the only kid who wasn't intimidated by her social status and treated her like a normal person, becoming the closest thing to a friend she had. Her feelings and subsequent obsession with him were sealed when he [[spoiler:came to defend her from some bullies]], coming to love him for his kind heart.
* SpannerInTheWorks: Functions as this to Yuuji. Because she is his childhood friend she can see through all his plots.
* StalkerWithACrush: She has been madly obsessed with Yuuji since she was a child. She just loves to spend her time chasing after him, breaking into his house and forcing him to go on {{Captive Date}}s with her.
* StaticStunGun: Shouko always seems to have a taser on her to restrain and punish Yuuji with ElectricTorture.
* TheStoic: Her facial expression rarely changes, even when Yuuji is around.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Shouko normally is shown to be very calm and collected. Her passionate side is reserved to Yuuji, but she usually expresses it in a [[{{Yandere}} rather scary way]].
* SupremeChef: She trained herself in every way to be the perfect house wife to Yuuji, including this.
* TearsOfJoy: She cries out of joy when she hears [[spoiler:Yuuji's LoveConfession]] at the end of volume 11.
* UnwantedSpouse: To Yuuji. She has decided he's her husband since their childhood, but Yuuji only wants to get as far away from her as possible.
* WalkingTechbane: She will spoil any electronic gadgets that fall into her hands (except for tasers).
* WomanScorned: Shouko considers Yuuji is cheating on her if he is near/talking/running from any other girl (or [[DudeLooksLikeALady Hideyoshi]]) or when she thinks he's a bit too friendly with Akihisa. Poor Yuuji is always getting the taser as "punishment".
* YamatoNadeshiko: Has the looks with her dark hair and ''almost'' HimeCut as well as the intense desire to be a wife. She varies slightly in the uses of a katana instead of a naginata in battle. She varies even more with [[{{Yandere}} the rest of her personality.]]
* {{Yandere}}: She's madly obsessed with making Yuuji her husband. She'll torture Yuuji until he agrees to marry her if she has to. If he even ''tries'' to look at another girl, she gives him a painful EyePoke.

Hideyoshi's twin sister. Unlike him, she is prideful, haughty and pretty arrogant, but has the grades to back it up.
----
* TheAce: She's beautiful, smart, athletic, a decent cook (from [[InformedAbility what little information is known about her]])... but [[HollywoodToneDeaf can't sing]]. [[TwinSwitch In comes Hideyoshi]], who helps solve that issue but... well, HilarityEnsues. It's interesting to note that even though she's TheAce, it's Hideyoshi who's a lot more popular than her. See GreenEyedMonster.
* ACupAngst: She might have a bit of an issue with her breasts, which Akihisa kind of pointed when she put him into a wrestling move disguised as Hideyoshi... ItsALongStory.
* ArrogantKungFuGirl: She ranks in the top 10 of her year, and has no problem reminding weaker students of her superiority, especially when it comes to summoning wars.
* BatmanGambit: In volume 10, she fakes a love confession to Sugawa in the middle of a Summon War, knowing that [[CavalryBetrayal it would trigger the FFF to pounce on him and therefore screw up Class F's cohesion.]]
* BerserkButton: Turns out Yuuko might have a thing about her weight, and oddly enough Hideyoshi points this out to her when he dressed up as her. Her skirt is a bit loose around his waist.
%%* BetweenMyLegs: Twice in Episode 12.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: More of a wolf in cat's clothing but it's the same idea.
* CovertPervert: Secretly a YaoiFangirl. Furthermore, she has a thing for girly guys... just like [[DudeLooksLikeALady Hideyoshi]] and Akihisa.
* DoubleStandardAbuseFemaleOnMale: She's the only one who hurts Hideyoshi in the light novels. Compare what she does to him like what Minami does to Akihisa.
* GreenEyedMonster: Literally and implied -- her bad treatment of Hideyoshi may stem not only from his poor grades and his crossdressing, but also out of jealousy over the fact that he [[EvenTheGuysWantHim attracts more guys]] than she does. This is probably helped by his [[NiceGuy genuinely nice personality]] and his general androgyny.
* HalfIdenticalTwin: The only physical difference between her and her twin Hideyoshi is that she's a girl and he's a guy ([[DudeLooksLikeALady even though he doesn't look like it]]).
* HomeNudist: If Hideyoshi is to be believed in the light novel, Yuuko walks around at home wearing nothing but panties.
* ICanExplain: This type of trope pops up whenever Hideyoshi starts cosplaying, and people mistake him for her. Needless to say she gets pissed and starts breaking his joints.
* IdenticalTwinIDTag: Because she and her twin brother Hideyoshi look so identical despite him being a boy, the only ways to tell them apart are their school uniforms (Hideyoshi wears the male one, Yuuko wears the female one) and their hair clips (Hideyoshi wears two white hair clips that separate his bangs, Yuuko wears two black hair clips on the left side).
* {{Jerkass}}: She has a record for being extremely abrasive and arrogant, especially compared to Shouko.
* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy: Masculine Girl to Hideyoshi's Feminine Boy, much to her dismay.
* MeaningfulName: Yuuko means "superior child".
* {{Meido}}: She and her brother have worn the uniform before. You decide who looks prettier.
* MomentKiller: [[spoiler:A moment of understanding and appreciation between Shouko and Yuuji and Akihisa and Himeji is spoiled when Yuuko attacks Yuuji's avatar, thus winning the exam war which was still technically going on]].
* NiceMeanAndInBetween: The Mean to Aiko's Nice and Shouko's In-between.
* NumberTwo: To Shouko. Being the ambassador for Class A, she works closely with Shouko, just as Akihisa works with Yuuji.
* PerverseSexualLust: In Volume 9 she is disappointed that the pretty boys are only in 2D.
* PetTheDog: In Volume 8 she actually helped Akihisa sneak back into the school as a class F vs C war was going on.
* PolarOppositeTwins: With Hideyoshi -- she is smart but haughty; he is not too smart but kind.
* {{Pride}}: She well-known for her arrogance and looking down on the lower classes, especially Class F. As such, it doesn't raise suspicion when Hideyoshi impersonates her and strategically instigates conflict between Class A and C.
* RedOniBlueOni: Forms a pair with Shouko, being the hotheaded second-in-command Red to her class rep's calm, quiet Blue.
* ShipTease: With ''Akihisa'', of all people. Later on its confirmed she does like Akihisa... She thinks he would make a good puppy. Akihisa's inner monologues also tease a bit. While Akihisa makes it a point to comment on Hideyoshi's cuteness, he describes Yuuko as the "pretty" one of the Kinoshita siblings.
* {{Tsundere}}: Potential one for Akihisa and she already fills out the part by beating the crap outta him. She thinks he's an idiot... and a pretty one.
* TsurimeEyes: As opposed to Hideyoshi's generally sweeter, calm eyes.
* WorthyOpponent: Seems to consider [[spoiler:Akihisa]] one later on in the series. A good majority of her effort in the third summoning war between A class and F class is devoted to trying to take him out early on; calling him the "first key affecting the war".
* WrestlerInAllOfUs: Knows a wrestling move or two.
* YaoiFangirl: Limited to fiction, apparently. Her favorite genre is two pretty boys making out.

----
* ClassRepresentative: Of Class B.
* CommanderContrarian: Towards Yuuji [[spoiler:in the big war between the Second Years and the Third Years]].
* CrazyJealousGuy: Yuuji getting Koyama's affections leads to him being CommanderContrarian to Yuuji and minimize his role in an effort to "look good" in front of her.
* DraggedIntoDrag: After his defeat by Yuuji. What’s worse is that his ''girlfriend'' catches him like that.
* HeelFaceTurn: Combined with BigDamnHeroes, [[spoiler:showing up with Class B to help Akihisa and the guys in Season 2, Episode 7.]]
* HumiliationConga: Not only is he defeated by 2-C -- or, to be more exact, OutGambitted by Yuuji -- but he was also forced by Yuuji to get photographed wearing female clothing as {{blackmail}} material to force him and 2-B to fight 2-A.
* KeystoneArmy: For Class B of course.
* TheLoad: [[spoiler:His decision to be CommanderContrarian and lock down Yuuji in any way possible is one of the chief reasons why Volume 11 ends with the Third Years sporting the advantage in the joint summoning wars.]]

* AbhorrentAdmirer: Towards Minami.
* ClingyJealousGirl: She's very possessive of Minami and will ''[[MurderTheHypotenuse remove]]'' anyone who threatens to attract Minami's attention.
* CuteLittleFangs: To suit her fiery nature.
* DoesNotLikeMen: She hates them, in fact.
* FieryRedhead: Her hair is orange and she’s quite aggressive, especially when the topics of men and Minami come up.
* FreudianExcuse: Sort of hinted at in the light novels. She declares that her father should be the first one to disappear before [[DoesNotLikeMen all other men]]. Akihisa then notes that she looked like she "recalled something repulsive" and wondered if something might have happened.
* GirlishPigtails: Tied up with black ribbons and resembling drills.
* {{Hypocrite}}: At one point she complains about how Akihisa doesn't treat Minami with respect and manipulates her with lies when [[StalkerWithACrush she doesn't treat her in any kind of respectful way at all]].
* HypocriticalHumor: Repeatedly refers to the object of her crush's affections as a "fag". She's ''much'' [[PsychoLesbian worse]].

* KarmaHoudini: [[spoiler: Gets no punishment for her actions in season 2. 654* MadLove: She constantly harasses Minami, attacks anyone who gets too close to her, resorts to blackmail, and even does things that would be grounds for criminal charges if not a restraining order in a more realistic setting on a regular basis.
* MurderTheHypotenuse: Miharu's solution to anyone between her and Minami is to ''remove'' the problem. Especially [[ChickMagnet Akihisa]]. It gets Iron-Man to ban her from ever entering class 2-F.
* NeverMyFault: When her hypocritical berating of Akihisa drives Minami to tears, she claims that Akihisa is to blame.
* NightmareFace: During the Test of Courage segment.
* ThePeepingTom: [[spoiler: During the study camp arc, she was the one spying on the girls. Since this was unexpected, the blame was pushed into the boys instead.]]
* PsychoLesbian: She only seems interested in girls and has a very unhealthy obsession towards Minami, to the point that it even freaks the latter out.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Her eyes are reddish-pink and she's... quite feisty.
* SlasherSmile
* StalkerWithACrush: To Minami, much to the latter’s dismay.

----
* ButtMonkey: Nothing good happens to them. Special mention to Shunpei, thanks to the fact that "Aki-chan" stuck "her" bra on him to make it seem like he's a pervert.
* CheatersNeverProsper: They tried to cheat during Akihisa and Yuuji’s match with them and got handily beaten by the two anyway.
* CreepyCrossdresser: One of the more effective scares in the test of courage is Shunpei wearing an ElegantGothicLolita outfit. When Kouta and Aiko bring a mirror into the course the sight of himself is enough to make him vomit.
* FillerVillain: For the OVA's, though they later appear again in Season 2.
* HateSink: Both are nothing but perverted, cheating delinquents, so you don’t feel bad when Akihisa and Yuuji beat the hell out of them during their match, or about their ButtMonkey status.
* HiddenDepths: Both are members of their year's Class A, believe it or not. As such, both are powerful battlers.
* HopelessSuitor: [[spoiler: Yuusaku has a crush on Hideyoshi. Tragically, his affections are not returned.]]
* {{Hypocrite}}: The Tokonatsu duo threaten to expose Akihisa and Yuuji's cheating during their match despite having also cheated the entire time.
* InSeriesNickname: The two are sarcastically referred to as "Tokonatsu," which means "Eternal Summer". Toko-natsu itself is a combination of the first kanji of both of their surnames.

The one with highest grade in Year 3.
----
* {{Foil}}: To Akihisa. Both are interested in the same woman and want the best for her, both are willing to go to rather extreme lengths to ensure this, both can be easily duped into doing things with the right (or wrong) words, both tend to misunderstand things that should be obvious, and their control over their summons are matched by none. Their differences are that Akihisa is dumb, but goodhearted and wears his heart on his sleeve and so is ultimately able to act in Himeji's best interests rather than what he ''thinks'' is in her best interests, while Takashiro is ultimately much smarter than him, but lacks Akihisa's caring heart which does not make him consider that Himeji might not want what he himself believes to be in her best interests. He is also much, much more manipulative than Akihisa.
* {{Irony}}: Despite his manipulative ways, he himself is easily duped.
* LightningBruiser: In contrast to most A Class students, his summon is this as not only does it possess high scores, but his level of control over it is on par with Akihisa himself. [[spoiler:His words imply this to be because he was constantly duped into doing many menial tasks for the student body with his summoned being until Akihisa was made into the "Punishment Inspector". 735* CoolOldLady: Ultimately really does care for the success and wellbeing of her students, always pushing them in the right direction, even if they don't know it.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: Her name is never directly mentioned in the anime, where everyone just calls her Principal. Well, everyone except for Yuuji and Akihisa, who calls her "hag".

He is the one who drags students off to remedial lessons if their Being gets KO'd in battle. Whatever the time, place, number of students or even relevance to school, he will pop up and drag them all back for those lessons.
----
* BadassNormal: He can take on Akihisa's avatar and win, despite its speed and ability to interact with physical objects.
* BigDamnHeroes: In Episode 12 of Season 1 when Himeji, Akihisa, and Minami are about to fall he catches them and lifts the chain up through the sky to safety.
* BigOlEyebrows: Big and bushy, suiting an intense guy like Ironman.
* CatchPhrase: "Those who died, meet me in the remedial classroom!"
* GeniusBruiser: Can fight all boys of class F and has the second highest score of the 2nd year teachers (the Class A teacher Takahashi has the highest score).
* InSeriesNickname: "Tetsujin," or "Ironman".
* TheJuggernaut: He's unstoppable in his endeavors to punish and reprimand failing students. None can escape his remedial classes.
* LargeHam: Especially whenever anyone's avatar loses all their health.
* LemonyNarrator: On occasion, when he trades duties with Fukuhara.
* OneManArmy: He took on all the boys from Class F and won.
* MeaningfulName: Ironman literally is tough as iron as he can shrug off Aki's avatar's attacks like nothing.
* MusclesAreMeaningful: Without his clothes, Ironman is ''ripped'', which justifies all the absurd feats of strength he has shown.
* NonGivingUpSchoolGuy: He invokes this trope by showing up out of the blue anywhere an avatar has "died", whether in a school battle, or even while taking a bath at a bathhouse, to take them to remedial classroom.
* PetTheDog: After Class F loses their first war with Class A, he takes over as their homeroom teacher as punishment. However, he decides not to immediately put them through his [[TrainingFromHell notorious remedial lessons]] for once as recognition for their valiant efforts.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Most of his decisions become rather understandable once you consider that [[MakesSenseInContext he's never aware of the actual context it would take to let most of the main cast's antics to slide.]] For instance, trying to keep Akihisa from getting into the girls' baths, and no one argued with his decision to kick Miharu out of Class-F when she started another one of her PsychoLesbian tirades.
* SadistTeacher: Considered one by the people who get taken away for remedial lessons.
* SaveOurStudents: Why Nishimura replaced Fukuhara as Class F's homeroom teacher was apparently because he is the last resort to turn around their failing grades.
* StealthHiBye: He almost always seems to be around whenever an avatar's points reaches 0, whether it's at school, or in a bath house.
* SternTeacher: He's always the one to punish misbehaving students and ensuring those who fail attend their remedial classes. However, while he is generally merciless, he is never unfair.
* SuperStrength: He apparently participates in athletic competitions and his abnormal strength is always apparent. He regularly carries away several students at a time over his shoulders to remedial class, has been able to one-handedly hoist Akihisa, Himeji and Minami, and can shrug off physical blows with little effect.
* TapOnTheHead: How Akihisa managed to beat him (only time anyone managed this so far) during the study camp arc.

* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: The reason she likes Akihisa is because he went out of his way to buy her a 25,000-yen doll. Even if it made him BlessedWithSuck.
* CheerfulChild: Always upbeat and enthusiastic.
* GirlishPigtails: Unlike Minami, Hazuki's hair is divided into two pigtails, fitting her cute and childish character.
* InnocentInnuendo: Anything she says and/or does can be easily misconstrued.
** She claims she gave her FirstKiss to Akihisa (to the cheek, at least) -- cue {{Death Glare}}s from the FFF and a beating from [[{{Tsundere}} Minami]], with some assistance from [[{{Yandere}} Mizuki]].
** In the SchoolFestival arc she decided to go full-out instead of letting the guys surrender.
* PrecociousCrush: Like her sister and most girls in the series, Hazuki has a crush on Akihisa. Since she's still a little kid, her saying that she wants to marry him is played for cuteness and to make her older love rivals go insanely jealous.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: She looks like a child version of her big sister Minami.

Akihisa's 23-year-old sister with a bust that rivals Mizuki's. She studied at Harvard, but comes back to Japan later in the story to look after Akihisa. Considering some of her dialogue, it's possible that she has a brother complex or is just very good at teasing him in order to get him to do better. Unlike her brother, she's very smart, but bad at cooking.
----
* BigBrotherAttraction: Inverted; she tends to show suggestive behavior towards her younger brother Akihisa. However, it's not always clear whether she really does have a brother complex or just likes to tease him.
* BuxomBeautyStandard So buxom that she causes Himeji to feel some ACupAngst. Despite that the latter is larger than her by at least one size.
* CoolBigSis: At least according to everyone besides Akihisa.
* CordonBleughChef: Her food won't kill you like Himeji's but still... certain ingredients make you wonder about taste.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: The other girls are ''insanely'' jealous of her looks. She has Himeji's ideal waist, and Shouko and Minami's ideal chest size.
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: Played with; she is generally a responsible, wiser sibling contrasting her foolish younger brother. However, she's ''absurdly'' overbearing toward him to the point of sexually harassing him.
* HardDrinkingPartyGirl: Get her drunk and she gets bold.
* IncestantAdmirer: As much as she really [[BrotherSisterIncest "loves" and wants]] Aki, it's clear he's deeply disturbed by her advances.
* InnocentFanserviceGirl: When she's first introduced (in the anime anyway), she shows up in a bathrobe. She then explains to Akihisa that she was getting hot and sweaty on the train to visit him, so changed clothing on the train, while there were men in the same car as her. They suffered some [[NoseBleed minor injuries]] from her clothing change.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She often berates Akihisa for using his (often failed) attempts at trying to get a good grade as a good enough goal to strive for. But aside from her other [[IncestantAdmirer tendencies]], she does genuinely care about him and tries to look out for him, such as letting him live alone so that he could concentrate on school rather than worry about her.
* MyBelovedSmother: Dotes on Akihisa to an absurd degree because she's worried about his health and academics. It also doubles with [[MySisterIsOffLimits My Brother Is Off-Limits]].
* SiblingYinYang: With her younger brother Akihisa -- she's [[TheAce smart]] but [[LethalChef can't cook]]; he's [[IdiotHero idiotic]] but [[SupremeChef can cook]].
* SingleTargetSexuality: She so far has only shown interest in her brother Akihisa and no one else.
* TheTease: It's hard to say if she really means what says she wants to do with Akihisa, but it's here.
* YaoiFangirl: Akihisa interacting inappropriately with girls is forbidden, but inappropriate interaction with boys is not only ok, it's applauded.
