!House Manderly of White Harbor [[note]]Formerly House Manderly of Dustonbury[[/note]]

->''"A thousand years before the Conquest, a promise was made, and oaths were sworn in the Wolf's Den before the old gods and the new. When we were sore beset and friendless, hounded from our homes and in peril of our lives, the wolves took us in and nourished us and protected us against our enemies. The city is built upon the land they gave us. In return, we swore that we should always be their men. ''Stark'' men!"''
-->--'''Wylla Manderly'''

Originally a Southron House located in the Reach, several centuries ago the Manderlys were driven from their seat of Dunstonbury due to their growing wealth and power threatening House Gardener's rule and fled north. There, they were taken under the protection of House Stark and given control of the Wolf's Den (the former seat of the extinct and rebellious House Greystark), eventually building the city of White Harbor and raising the New Castle as their seat. They are known for UndyingLoyalty to the Starks, always citing the Starks' initial open-handedness to them as the reason, and are the only Seven-worshipping major House in the North, their exile having occurred after the Andal invasion. They have several lesser houses sworn to them along with more than a hundred landed knights, allowing them to field more soldiers than any other House in the North. They seem to have a genetic predisposition toward obesity. Lord Wyman is so fat he can no longer ride a horse, and his sons are going in the same direction.

At the time of the series, the head of the House is Wyman Manderly. They suffer heavy casualties in the War of the Five Kings, losing several members at the hands of the Lannisters and their allies. Wyman's cousin Donella, the widowed Lady of Hornwood, was forcibly married by Ramsay Snow and then left to starve to death. Wyman Manderly is ultimately forced to surrender to the Lannisters in exchange for his son Wylis being released from being a hostage.

The Mander river of the Reach is associated with House Manderly, though it's unknown whether the river is named after them or they were named after the river; the Manderlys claim the former.

[[folder:Tropes related to House Manderly]]
* {{Acrofatic}}: Its men. Despite being mostly obese, the Manderly men are noted to be worthy in battle. Lord Wyman himself is still an elegant dancer; in his youth he was a knight of no small skill, and his similarly rotund sons are brave and effective soldiers.
* AlliterativeFamily: Almost all of the current members have names starting with "W".
* ArcWords: "The North remembers".
* TheDogBitesBack: [[spoiler: The Freys think they've got a monopoly on wanting to get back at people in dramatic ways? Folks, there's a ''reason'' the saying goes "The North remembers"...]]
* TheExile: They were driven from the Reach by Lord Lorimar Peake at the request of King Perceon III Gardener, who feared the growing power and wealth of House Manderly.
* FakeDefector: With fun, food and open smiles. [[spoiler: Beware those knives, though. [[TheSecretOfLongPorkPies And the food, come to think of it.]]]]
* FamousAncestor: Ser Warrick Manderly, who commanded a fleet to subdue the Sistermen Rebellion alongside Visenya Targaryen.
** Lady Jessamyn Manderly, one of the daughters of Theomore Manderly, who served as cup-bearer of Queen Alysanne Targaryen. Her sister Mara Manderly married a Lord Darklyn thanks to an arrangement by Queen Alysanne.
** Lord Desmond Manderly, head of the house during the reign of Viserys I and father of Torrhen and Medrick Manderly.
** Lady Jeyne Manderly, the wife of Rickon Stark, eldest child of Lord Cregan Stark and mother of their two daughters, Serena and Sansa Stark.
** Lady Myriamme Manderly, the wife of Lord Rodwell Stark, although they had no issue.
* FeudingFamilies: Had a fierce rivalry with the Peakes when they lived in the Reach. When King Garth X Greybeard died this escalated into civil war, as both Houses had married one of his daughters. Eventually, the Peakes drove the Manderlys out of the Reach.
* ImmigrantPatriotism: House Manderly are, by Northern standards, a new house (the house itself is old, but they've been northmen only a few centuries), yet despite their Southron origins and their worship of the Seven, they are almost fanatically loyal to the land, its traditions, and their lords.
* LaResistance: They are still Stark loyalists even after the Red Wedding, but unlike some houses that can proclaim that openly under protection of cruel and unusual geography (*cough* Mormont *cough* Reed) the Manderlys live in an easily accessible, valuable and vulnerable city, and have to be more careful in showing their loyalties. So they pretend to collaborate with the new overlord while nurturing plots of returning the Starks to power and, not least, revenge.
* LastOfHisKind: The Lords of House Manderly are the only ones that still style themselves as Knights of the Order of the Green Hand - a chivalric order from the Reach which was obliterated in the Field of Fire
* LordCountry: They claim that the river Mander was named after them.
* KnightInShiningArmor: The Manderlys are the only Northern house to have a tradition of knighthood, because the institution is closely tied with the Faith of the Seven. There are knights from other houses, such as Jorah Mormont and Rodrik Cassel, but most were knighted as an honor for battle achievements and were never squires.
* PayEvilUntoEvil: [[spoiler: They feed the Freys three of their own relatives baked into pies. And apparently this is only the ''beginning'' of their vengeance.]]
* ProngsOfPoseidon: Their blazon is a merman carrying a trident. Manderly guards wield tridents instead of spears.
* RevengeByProxy: They're quite happy to target any [[spoiler: Freys, or their allies, to avenge the Red Wedding. But unusually for this trope the Freys are, nearly to a man, all so despicable that Wyman could still almost be seen as heroic. The vast majority of the Freys were complicit in the massacre, so RevengeByProxy is probably seen as just evening the score.]]
* TheSecretOfLongPorkPies: At the feast held at Winterfell [[spoiler:the large pies Manderly serves are in fact three "missing" Freys.]]
* TokenMinority: One of the only Northern Houses who worship the Seven.
* TryToFitThatOnABusinessCard: The head of House Manderly carries the titles of Lord of White Harbor, Warden of the White Knife, Shield of the Faith, Defender of the Dispossessed, Lord Marshal of the Mander and Knight of the Order of the Green Hand.
** Torrhen Manderly took this trope even further by additionally being Regent and Hand of the King.
* UglyGuysHotDaughter: Seems to be implied, as while the Manderly men are noted as being obese and none of them are explicitly described as handsome, some of the Manderly women are stated to be very pretty and none of them are descibred as obese. It stands to reason that at least some of them are [[BigBeautifulWoman Big Beautiful Women]].
* UndyingLoyalty: To the Starks, at least initially, for giving their ancestors shelter after being pushed out of the Reach by the Gardeners. They eventually surrender to the Lannisters. [[spoiler: In ''A Dance With Dragons'', it is revealed that Wyman's surrender is an act, and he's actually plotting with some other Northern lords to restore House Stark and take revenge on the Freys and Boltons.]]
* WilyWalrus: It's never spelled out because the people of Westeros don't seem to be too familiar with walruses, but this is their animal motif. The "merman" they have as house sigil is just the tip of the iceberg (as seals and walruses were the inspiration for "merman" tales in real life). It's very obvious in the comic book depiction of the Manderly brothers that go south with Robb Stark, but the related traits and symbolism is all around the family, including most of their names begining with W. Just as the dangerous and feral nature of other Northern houses is downplayed at the beginning of the series, it takes a while for Lord Manderly to shift gears from WarmHeartedWalrus and go full (heroic) FatBastard.
* WouldHurtAChild: [[spoiler:Little Walder Frey... if he was killed by the Manderlys]]. When Lord Manderly says "revenge," he ''really'' means it.

-->''"I am fat, and many think that makes me weak and foolish."''

Head of House Manderly and Lord of White Harbor. Wyman is morbidly obese yet is BigFun and very loyal to the Starks. As he would not be much use on a battlefield, he sends his two sons to the fighting instead.
----
* {{Acrofatic}}: Despite being obese, Wyman is still an elegant dancer; in his youth he was a knight of no small skill, and his similarly rotund sons are brave and effective soldiers.
* BerserkButton: When [[SmugSnake Rhaegar Frey]] goes on an insulting tirade about Robb Stark, Davos notes that, for a moment, Wyman is quietly seething at the words, even as he quickly reverts to trying to appease the Freys.
* BigEater: Oh yes, and he knows and weaponises it, getting others to dismiss him as a FatIdiot. [[spoiler: As some Freys who found themselves under a golden flaky crust found out.]]
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Lord Wyman is a jolly, obese gourmand who seemingly lives to eat, party & have a nice time. He is courteous, polite & one of the very few noblemen who don't treat Bran with barely disguised pity or disdain. His own subjects mock him for his obesity. He certainly doesn't seem like a very impressive figure compared to lords like the [[LightningBruiser Greatjon]]. Yet underneath his jovial facade, he has a mind like a steel trap. And if push him too far, he will make you wish you had chosen some other family to mess with...
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: While neither the Boltons or Freys fully trust Wyman, by ''A Dance With Dragons'' it's made very clear they have all made a ''huge'' mistake by thinking just because he's fat, likes to eat, and is appeasing them, he is relatively harmless. [[spoiler: But in reality, he's been building and hiding warships since the war started, commands hundreds of heavy horse, and has the allegiance of all the lands east of the White Knife, which he tells Davos he will gladly use to support Stannis. For a price.]]
* DeathFakedForYou: In order to "prove" loyalty to the Lannisters, Wyman appears to have executed Davos when he came to White Harbor as a messenger. Actually, a random prisoner was executed, and [[spoiler:Davos is sent on a mission to bring back Rickon Stark.]] Slightly subverted in that Wyman makes it clear to [[spoiler:Davos]] that he has been keeping him in his dungeons for a few weeks because he was fully prepared to "discover" the fake, blame the jailer, and produce and execute the real guy if it looked like the Boltons weren't buying it.
* DeathGlare: After Rhaegar Frey denounces [[spoiler:the deceased]] Robb Stark in front of the Merman's Court and calls him "a vile dog", Davos notices Wyman briefly looking down at the Frey like he's "a roach in need of a hard heel."
* DotingGrandparent: He is very fond of both his granddaughters, Wynafryd who shares his cunning and Wylla who shares his deep sense of loyalty.
* EvilTastesGood: [[spoiler: Or more accurately Revenge Tastes Good: the probable explanation for Wyman Manderly's enjoyment of the "Frey Pie".]]
--> '''Wyman:''' "The best pie you have ever tasted, my lords. Wash it down with Arbor gold and savor every bite. ''I know I shall''."
* FatBastard: Introduced as BigFun and develops into this by ''A Dance With Dragons'' [[spoiler: while [[GreyAndGrayMorality remaining firmly on the side of the "heroes".]]]]
* {{Foil}}:
** Roose Bolton. They are both some of the most powerful Northern Lords. The Lord of the Dreadfort is a skinny health nut while Wyman Manderly is a morbidly obese glutton. Given all of the FoodPorn in the series, it's obvious who is supposed to be the more sympathetic of the two.
*** Additionally, as a Seven-worshipping Andal (not to mention managing a shipping and trading empire as the head of the only city in the North) Wyman could be seen as representing the "new," at least relative to Roose Bolton, who not only is a First Man who worships the old gods, but who practices some customs such as the right of first night and flayings that have fallen out of favor elsewhere, though Roose cares little for the ancient tradition of guest right. The Boltons are an old Northern House who have often rebelled against the Starks and [[spoiler: end up displacing them as rulers of the North, taking control by one of them marrying a fake Stark]]. The Manderlys are relatively new to the North but are very loyal to the Starks and [[spoiler: trying to return them to rule the North]]. The Manderlys also tried to become the rulers of another Kingdom, the Reach, when a Gardner King died without sons and one of his daughters was married to Lord Manderly, the Manderlys were eventually driven out of the Reach as they threatened the Gardeners, but settled in the North.
* FormerlyFit: Downplayed, as he may never have been slim, but there must have been a time where he wasn't as fat as he is now, as he used to be able to ride a horse and fight effectively, having taken part directly in Robert's Rebellion and fought at the Battle of the Trident where Ser Bartimus saved his life.
* GuileHero: Oh yes. He's playing the Boltons quite well so far. While Roose and the Freys suspect him of duplicity, because he has a every reason to hold a grudge against them, they have no idea the true extent of his plans and are vastly underestimating him. In ''A Clash of Kings'', he also showed political and strategic shrewdness and intelligence, knowing that an independent kingdom should have its own currency and proposing to create new coinage for the North, as well as proposing to build a new navy for the Starks, [[spoiler: something he has been working in, as shown in ''A Dance with Dragons'', and has managed to hide from the Boltons and the Iron Throne.]]
* HiddenDepths: Wyman appears to be just a jolly fat fool and a bit of a coward, with the result that no one takes him particularly seriously. [[spoiler: He's actually an incredibly cunning man who readily uses this image to ruthlessly manipulate and take revenge against the killers of his son and liege-lord]].
* IcyBlueEyes: Has pale blue eyes, and represents the cold and calculating part of the trope very well.
* ImAHumanitarian: [[spoiler: Hearkening back to the Rat Cook, a symbol of the punishment received by those who break SacredHospitality, as well as in revenge for Wylis being served Vargo Hoat while a prisoner, Wyman has three Frey guests killed--though after they had left his protection, because as the Freys themselves didn't understand ''some things are just not done''--and serves them at Ramsay's wedding to their unknowing Frey relatives and Bolton allies. He also eats several slices himself, which he enjoys immensely, though he may have played it up to convince the others that they weren't poisoned]].
* InSeriesNickname: Lord Lamprey, from his fondness for lamprey pies, and Lord Too-Fat-To-Sit-A-Horse from King Stannis, because, well, he's too fat to sit (i.e. ride) a horse anymore.
* ItsPersonal: Wyman's main motivation is revenge for the murder of his son Wendel and his cousin Donella, but the killing of his friends [[spoiler: and king is a major one as well.]]
* {{Kevlard}}: [[spoiler:How he manages to survive having his throat slit by Hosteen Frey.]]
* LoopholeAbuse: [[spoiler:Wyman wants to punish the Freys for the Red Wedding and their heinous violation of SacredHospitality, but slaying a guest beneath his roof would make him guilty of the same. So he waits until Rhaegar, Symond and Jared depart White Harbor and gives them horses as guest gifts ''before'' having them hunted down and baked into tasty, tasty pies.]]
* TheManTheyCouldntHang: [[spoiler: One of the Freys openly slashes his throat when tensions come to a head. Wyman ''survives'', thanks to {{kevlard}}.]]
* MrViceGuy: He is gluttonous, but a good lord and loyal. [[spoiler: He adds a hefty dose of wrath to his vices after the Red Wedding.]]
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Wyman remarks that people underestimate him because of his girth, and assume that his surface personality of jolly glutton is all there is to him. This is proven to be incredibly unwise.
* OutlivingOnesOffspring: [[spoiler:His son Wendel is slain at the Red Wedding. For this, Wyman gets his revenge by having three Freys slaughtered and served up to their own relatives in meat pies at Ramsay Bolton's wedding.]]
* PapaWolf: Refused to swear loyalty to Tommen until his son Wylis is returned to him, and [[spoiler: the lengths to which he has gone to get revenge for the death of his other son Wendel at the Red Wedding have been rather horrifying/awesome]].
* PetTheDog: People who are fleeing Ramsay, who has now been given free reign to terrorize the North, are allowed into White Harbor and Wyman even lets them sleep in the mint.
* RefugeInAudacity: Wyman is rather fond of taunting his enemies when given the opportunity, even when it's dangerous to do so.
** At the Winterfell wedding feast his song request is "The Rat Cook," a cautionary tale warning of the dire consequences for those who break the sacred law of [[SacredHospitality Guest Right]], specifically to make the present Boltons and Freys uncomfortable. Though, as the below example shows, this is actually an even more audacious move than it already appears to be. His prior song requests for "The Night That Ended" ("The bride will like that one, I know") and "Brave Danny Flint" (memorializing a legendary rape victim) are nearly as brazen.
** [[spoiler: Secretly killing Freys as revenge is a normal reaction for this series. Cooking them into pies and ''eating them'' is a whole different ballgame. [[{{Homage}} Cooking them into pies]], [[Theatre/TitusAndronicus feeding said pies to kinsmen of the filling]], and ''doing a song request'' for a folk song about a mad cook who was turned into a kin-eating rat for violating the guest right]]? ''Damn,'' Manderly.
** And his answer to the murder of [[spoiler:Little Walder Frey, who is just a boy]]:
-->'''Wyman:''' Though mayhaps this was a blessing. Had he lived he would have grown up to be a [[spoiler:Frey]].
* RetiredBadass: He used to be a skilled warrior, but has now grown too fat to even mount a horse. Still a graceful dancer though.
* {{Revenge}}: [[spoiler:In addition to restoring House Stark and protecting his family, this is Wyman Manderly's other major motivation, seeking to destroy the Freys and Boltons in revenge for their treachery and the tragedies his family suffered at their hands. In this case, it's not so much a case of "BestServedCold" as it is one of "Best Served Within A Golden-Brown Glazed Flaky Crust".]]
* SecretSecretKeeper : [[spoiler: He and Robett Glover are one of the few persons to know that it was Ramsay Bolton and his men who burned Winterfell, and that Bran and Rickon Stark are alive and that Rickon went to Skagos, thanks to him having found and taken in Wex Pyke, Theon Greyjoy's mute squire, who had hidden on Winterfell's heart tree when Ramsay and his men sacked the castle and witnessed the Stark coming out of the crypts and followed them after their departure. This prompts him to task Davos with the mission to retrieve Rickon on Skagos.]]
* TheSmartGuy: He's one of the most intelligent men in the North and is very politically and strategically savy, using them both for the North and his own house's benefits. He understands that to truly become an independant kingdom again the North needs its own coinage, proposing to have it made in White Harbor, which would make him and his family indispensable to the North and House Stark. He also realizes the need for the North to have its own navy again and offers to build it. During A Dance with Dragons he reveals himself to be a very cunning schemer, working against the Boltons and the Freys and [[spoiler: successfully tricking the Iron Throne into releasing his son by faking Davos' death, and having successfully hidden the fleet he has built for the North,]] and spotting the spies the Freys send to him.
* SparingThemTheDirtyWork: Wyman Manderly does many things that the honorable Ned Stark would never do (although if he had, or at least had survived, Manderly wouldn't have had to take revenge in the first place).
* TookALevelInJerkass: Takes one between ''A Clash of Kings'' and ''A Dance With Dragons'', that can be attributed to all of the tragedies his family experienced. Although, it's ''very'' easy for a reader to get where he's coming from and it's hard not to nod along, even though you know he's going over the top with it.
* TrademarkFavouriteFood: Lampreys, from which he got his nickname.
* TranquilFury: To the point that he actually creeps ''Davos'' out. And Davos hangs out with '''Stannis'''.
-->'''Wyman:''' I drink with Jared, jape with Symond, promise Rhaegar the hand of my own beloved granddaughter... [[spoiler:but never think that means I have forgotten. The north remembers, Lord Davos. The North remembers, and this mummer's farce is almost done. ''My son is home''.]]
* TryToFitThatOnABusinessCard: Wyman's titles: Lord of White Harbor, Warden of the White Knife, Shield of the Faith, Defender of the Dispossessed, Lord Marshal of the Mander, Knight of the Order of the Green Hand.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ser Wendel Manderly]]
!!Ser Wendel Manderly
-->''"As you will, my lady. Oats and bread, and what could be better?"''

Second son of Wyman Manderly. He is a member of King Robb Stark's personal guard, but also often accompanies Lady Catelyn Stark.
----
* {{Acrofatic}}: Despite his weight, he is still a renowned knight.
* BigEater: Catelyn notes he is one of the fattest men she has ever met and loves his food. While escorting her through the Reach, he is rather disappointed at the food available to them and being unable to hunt due to the pace Catelyn set for them.
* BigFun: He is not as large as his brother or father, but is much more jolly.
* BloodKnight: He loves fighting and watching combat, and is extremely pleased when Catelyn's party reaches Bitterbridge and they find Renly Baratheon is hosting a tourney.
* BodyguardingABadass: One of Robb's personal guards.
* BoisterousBruiser: Comes across as being one, yes.
* ColonelKilgore: A bit more on the heroic side than normal for this trope, but he clearly loves fighting and war just a bit too much. His reaction to seeing Lannister soldiers hanging from the battlements of Riverrun is to start grinning.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: [[spoiler: Shot through the mouth by an crossbow bolt at the Red Wedding. A bit ironic too, considering how much he and his family enjoy eating.]]
* HotBlooded: Didn't jump at the chance to be one of Robb's guard by accident.
* KnightInShiningArmor: One of the few knights in the series who always acts honorably.
* MrViceGuy: He is quite the glutton, like others in his family.
* RedOniBlueOni: The Red to Wylis' Blue, being described as "loud and boisterous" while Wylis is "quiet and formal".
* StoutStrength: Hidden under that weight is clout you don't want to find out about the hard way.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ser Marlon Manderly]]
!!Ser Marlon Manderly

Wyman Manderly's cousin and commander of his garrison.
----
* AlliterativeName: '''Ma'''rlon '''Ma'''nderly.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: He asks Ser Davos Seaworth a number of pointed questions about the status of Stannis Baratheon's forces, what other Northern lords have allied with him, and what benefit House Manderly would gain from allying with him. Davos is left unable to come up with any satisfactory answers to Ser Marlon's questions, completely wrecking his bid to gain the support of House Manderly. [[spoiler:This was planned by him and Wyman as a show of "loyalty" to House Lannister]].
* BlingOfWar: Wears silver armor with engravings that look like flowing seaweed.
* TheCaptain: He is in command of New Castles' garrison.
* CoolHelmet: Described as looking like the "head of the merling king, with a crown of mother-of-pearl and a jutting beard of jet and jade".
* MeaningfulName: His name contains "mar," which is Spanish for sea. It may also refer to the marlin, a species of fish.
* NumberTwo: To his cousin.
* OldSoldier: Old enough for his beard to have gone grey and still serves his cousin as an active warrior.
* SecretKeeper: Considering Ser Marlon was [[spoiler:given a direct order to decapitate Davos, and instead put him in a comfortable prison cell, it is fairly clear that he is complicit with Wyman's plans for revenge upon Houses Frey and Lannister]].

[[folder:Lady Donella Manderly]]
!!Donella Hornwood, née Manderly

[[/folder]]

!!!Wylis' Family
[[folder:Ser Wylis Manderly]]
!!Ser Wylis Manderly
-->''"Gallant, that son of mine, and fierce as a mastiff."''
---> --'''Wyman Manderly'''

First son of Wyman Manderly and heir to White Harbor. Captured early in the War of the Five Kings at the Battle of Green Fork.
----
* {{Acrofatic}}: Despite his weight, he is still a renowned knight.
* BaldOfAuthority: He is completely bald and the commander of the Manderly forces that accompany Roose Bolton
* BigEater: It's the hat of the House if you're male, after all.
* ColonelBadass: He commands the Manderly forces that accompany Lord Roose Bolton's host.
* DistressedDude: Held captive by the Lannisters for around two years. Wylis is briefly liberated by Roose when Harrenhal is retaken, but gets captured again shortly afterwards at the Battle of the Ruby Ford. He is released for good after his father [[spoiler:(faked) executing Davos Seaworth]].
* HappilyMarried: With Leona.
* ImAHumanitarian: Not intentionally: while held prisoner by the Lannisters at Harrenhall, Ser Gregor Clegane feeds Wylis and the other Northerners pieces of Vargo Hoat.
* InelegantBlubbering: After being told by Jaime that he is being released, Wylis collapses and breaks down crying loudly, eventually requiring four men to lift him up and carry him away. Considering his treatment by the Mountain and his men, it's easy to understand his reaction.
* MrViceGuy: He is quite the glutton, like others in his family.
* TheQuietOne: Not that he gets much chance to talk in his fairly limited page time, but by reputation he is this.
* RedOniBlueOni: The Blue to Wendel's Red, being described as "quiet and formal" while Wendel is "loud and boisterous".
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Leona Manderly]]
!!Leona Manderly (née Woolfield)

Wife of Wylis Manderly.
----
* BigEater: Judging by her size, she seems to have picked up her husband and his family's eating habits.
* DeadpanSnarker: Before devolving into simply screaming at Davos, she gets off a few good snarks at him.
-->'''Davos:''' I have not come as a petitioner. I have a string of titles too. Lord of the Rainwood, Admiral of the Narrow Sea, Hand of the King.
-->'''Leona:''' An admiral without ships, a hand without fingers, in service to a king without a throne. Is this a knight who comes before us, or the answer to a child's riddle?
* HappilyMarried: With Wylis. This is why she is so hostile to Davos, as she knows that siding with Stannis against the Lannisters would almost certainly result in her husband being killed.
* HystericalWoman: Comes off as this when Davos Seaworth visits White Harbor to try and get the Manderlys to ally with Stannis, raving about how he seeks to bring war and blood to their house and see her husband dead. Davos is understanding of her fear, since all that is likely to happen should House Manderly side with Stannis.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Her vehement protesting against Davos' request for the Manderlys to ditch the Lannisters and join Stannis strongly suggests [[spoiler:she is not involved in House Manderly's secret plan to raise their banners for Stannis, unless she's a ''really'' good actress]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Wynafryd Manderly]]
!!Wynafryd Manderly

Eldest daughter of Wylis Manderly.
----
* ArrangedMarriage: To Rhaegar Frey, which she is pleased with. [[spoiler:Not really, she's just pretending as part of her grandfather's plan to destroy the Freys]].
* MyNaymeIs: Wynafryd, not Winifred.
* PassiveAggressiveKombat: An underplayed variant, but... you try smiling sweetly and playing the perfect little bridal decoy when you probably want to punch every last one of their lights out and/or cheer your sister on. Out comes the PolitenessJudo with a dazzling smile.
* ProperLady: So prim and proper, it's almost painful to hear. [[spoiler: Thankfully, that parrot-fashion that comes out her mouth isn't just empty courtesy. She was wielding the weapons of a Lady just fine.]]
* SecretKeeper: Unlike her mother and sister, Wynafryd is trusted by Wyman to know the truth of [[spoiler:his plot against the Freys and Boltons. This is likely because Leona is too worried about her husbands safety and Wylla is too young and outspoken, but Wynafryd is calm and has the same political guile as her grandfather]].
* SiblingYinYang: She is calm and collected, supportive of her grandfather, and happy to marry a Frey [[spoiler:(not really, she's just pretending)]] while her sister Wylla boldly yells opinions that could endanger the house and hates the idea of marrying a Frey.
* SilkHidingSteel: She may act courteous towards the Freys, but [[spoiler: she is fully complicit with her grandfather in plotting their downfall.]]
* SoProudOfYou: [[spoiler: Wyman comments on her courage and her ability to play the part of the happy bride to Rhaegar Frey.]]

[[folder:Wylla Manderly]]
!!Wylla Manderly

Second daughter of Wylis Manderly.
----
* ArrangedMarriage: To Little Walder Frey, which she is pretty outspoken about hating.
* LittleMissBadass: Perhaps not in a martial sense, but she doesn't hesitate to lay into House Frey, even when doing so would be considered treason. The only one else in the room willing to do the same is [[KnightInShiningArmor Ser Davos]], and Wylla is just a 15-year-old girl.
* MeaningfulName: Perhaps it's no surprise that a girl named Wylla is so strong-''willed''.
* NonconformistDyedHair: Wylla is a bold PluckyGirl who openly declares her loyalty to the Starks while everyone else [[spoiler: seemingly]] kowtows to the Lannisters and their allies. Her dyed green hair emphasizes her free-spirited nature and contrasts her with her sister Wynafryd, a quiet and composed ProperLady with natural brown hair.
* PluckyGirl: And, she quickly won herself a [[OneSceneWonder lot of love with it]]. Also, note: although ushered out the hall at quite a pace, nobody seriously punished her for the spirited defence of what most were feeling.
* SiblingYinYang: She boldly yells opinions that could endanger the house and hates the idea of marrying a Frey while Wynafred is calm and collected, supportive of her grandfather, and happy to marry a Frey. [[spoiler: Subverted. They are actually of the same mind, but Wynafryd is playing a part.]]
* SoProudOfYou: [[spoiler:Wyman Manderly despite chiding her in public is quite pleased to describe his "brave Wylla" to Ser Davos:]]
-->'''Wyman:''' Wylla. Did you see how brave she was? Even when I threatened to have her tongue out, she reminded me of the debt White Harbor owes to the Starks of Winterfell, a debt that can never be repaid. Wylla spoke from the heart ... not every woman can be as brave as my Wylla.
* UndyingLoyalty: The only member of her family to [[spoiler:openly]] express this to House Stark after House Manderly was forced to surrender to the Lannisters.

!!Ser Bartimus
-->''"There's much and more you southrons do not know about the north."''

An elderly knight in service to House Manderly as castellan of Wolf's Den. He saved Wyman Manderly's life at the Battle of the Trident.
----
* TheAlcoholic: Now that he can no longer fight, he likes to spend his days drinking while studying and discussing the history of the Wolf's Den.
* AnArmAndALeg: Lost his leg after a horse fell on it and broke it, leading to a maester amputating it.
* EyepatchOfPower: He wears an eyepatch to cover up the eye he lost.
* OnlyOneName: Due to being a commoner.
* RetiredBadass: Can no longer fight after losing his leg in the Battle.
* UndyingLoyalty: To House Manderly, although he will not convert to the Faith of the Seven despite having been made a knight.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Maester Theomore]]
!!Maester Theomore

House Manderly's maester, born a Lannister of Lannisport.
----
* AmbiguouslyEvil: While he's dismissive of Davos, nothing he says to Wyman is wrong or particularly malicious, and it's not made clear if he's innocent or working for the Lannisters.
* EvilChancellor: Possible, but nor proven. Wyman suspects that the advice he offers is intended to benefit House Lannister's interests, not House Manderly's.
* FatBastard: Nearly as large as his lord.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Nothing he says is outright wrong.
* TheMole: Wyman suspects him of reporting everything to his family, despite being only a distant relation to the main branch and maesters vow to abandon family loyalties, and is thus careful of what he writes in letters that Theomore handles.
* RegalRinglets: His hair is styled into golden curls.

!!Garth
-->''"The Whore don't look like much, but when I heat her up red-hot and let her touch your cock, you'll cry for mother. And this here's my Lady Lu. It's her who'll take your head and hands, when Lord Wyman sends down word."''

A gaoler, headsman and torturer at the Wolf's Den.
----
* BaldOfEvil: He is completely bald and a sadistic torturer.
* BewareTheQuietOnes: Davos notes he is fairly quiet, but is a brutal and creepy torturer.
* CarryABigStick: His iron rod, which he heats up to torture prisoners.
* ICallItVera: "Lady Lu", his axe, and "The Whore", a rod of black iron for ColdBloodedTorture.
* OnlyOneName: Due to being lowborn.
* TokenEvilTeammate: For House Manderly.
* TortureTechnician: In addition to executions, he tortures prisoners for House Manderly using a heated up iron rod.

[[folder:Lord Theomore Manderly]]
!!Lord Theomore Manderly

Lord of White Harbour during the reign of King Jaehaerys the Wise.
----
* ArrangedMarriage: His relatives got some thanks to Alysanne. He himself was betrothed to Princess Viserra Targaryen, although the marriage wouldn't occur.
* FantasticRacism: Averted, he had a Wildling fostered by one of his knights, which is pretty progressive given the setting.
* MassiveNumberedSiblings: He had a famously large family.
* MyNaymeIs: Theomore instead of Theodore.
* OldManMarryingAChild: Viserra was fifteen and he had already outlived four wives when the engagement was announced. He must have been old enough to be her grandfather.
* OneSteveLimit: Averted, since he shares his name with his descendant's Maester. This is odd because the two aren't related in any way and the name "Theomore" is used by only one other character in the whole franchise.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Lord Alaric Stark, although even he admits he's respected more than he is loved.

[[folder:Lord Torrhen Manderly]]
!!Lord Torrhen Manderly, Lord of White Harbor, Regent, Hand of the King

A knight of House Manderly during the Dance of the Dragons, which he fought in alongside his brother Medrick for Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen. He later served as Hand of the King to Aegon III.
----
* ColonelBadass: He was one of the best commanders in the Blacks army, and he put down some of the riots in King's Landing during the period the Blacks occupied the city.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: Felt deeply insulted and unappreciated for his work as Hand following his abrupt dismissal as Hand by Aegon III after the regency ended.
* FantasticRacism: He had Roggerio Rogare [[ATasteOfTheLash given seven lashes]] "for being a thrice-damned Lyseni".
* ItRunsInTheFamily: Much like his descendants Wyman and Wylis, he was brusque but clever, corpulent and gluttonous but also a courtly man, well-spoken and well disciplined.
* NamedAfterSomeoneFamous: Likely named after Torrhen Stark, the last king in the North.
* NotSoOmniscientCouncilOfBickering: He was one of the regents on the council who oversaw the early reign of King Aegon III. The council was often hamstrung by its members infighting or trying to quell the ambitions of one of its members.
* NumberTwo: Served as one of Aegon's regents, and later as his Hand of the King before being dismissed when Aegon turned sixteen and his regency ended.
* SiblingTeam: He fought many battles alongside his brother Medrick. He resigned his status as regent after his father and Medrick died in 132 AC from the Winter Fever, but later returned to become Hand after Ser Marston Waters was killed.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Even though he served ably and loyally as Hand, he and Aegon III were never on the same page.
* YouAreInCommandNow: Became Lord of White Harbor with the deaths of his father Desmond and brother Medrick during the Winter Fever.

A knight of House Manderly during the Dance of the Dragons, which he fought in alongside his brother Medrick for Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen. He died of a winter fever along his father in 132 AL.
----
* AlliterativeName: "M" and "M"
* ColonelBadass: He was one of the best commanders in the Blacks army, and he put down some of the riots in King's Landing during the period the Blacks occupied the city.
* KnightInShiningArmor: Said to be fearsome and the finest knight in the North, but was also courtly and well-spoken.
* SiblingTeam: He fought many battles alongside his brother Torrhen.
* SoleSurvivor: While four of the Seven who Rode made it out alive, Harmon of the Reeds was executed by Perkin the Flea and kingsguard Lansdale and Darke were murdered during the capture of Queen Rhaenyra. Therefore, Medrick was the only one to survive to the end of the war... only to [[ShaggyDogStory die the year after from Winter Fever.]]
