{{Butt Monkey}}s in WesternAnimation
----
* ''WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfFigaroPho'': The mailman is the victim of more AmusingInjuries than any other character. %%Also, in "Fear of Rivals", we see an AmbiguouslyGay side of him.%%
* ''WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfJimmyNeutronBoyGenius'':
** Jimmy always gets the heat on him when it comes to anything that's not involving an invention. And when it ''does'' come to inventions... things always go wrong in some way.
** Carl Wheezer, Jimmy's FatBestFriend, is always suffering from his many allergies and phobias, and being Jimmy's guinea pig for his inventions.
** Sheen has it better than both of them, but he has his fair share of physical abuse, also regularly being used to test Jimmy's experiments, though he actually likes it.
* ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'':
** The Ice King. Though in later episodes, after revealing his tragic backstory, he may have become somewhat of a {{woobie}}.
** Lemongrab gets pranked, insulted, assaulted, fed extremely spicy food, bullied by his own mother, falls out of a window, falls out of a tree...a nd at the end, he's fired, [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and his mom calls him a "butt."]] He has since nearly bled and starved to death.
** NEPTR generally tends to get the short end of the stick more often than not as TheUnFavourite. He loves Finn and Ice King (his creators) and desperately wants them to acknowledge him, but they tend to forget he exists. He wants to be friends with BMO, but BMO doesn't care for him and admits that he doesn't see NEPTR as an equal. Despite this, he's [[ThePollyanna one of the most sweet and cheerful characters in the show.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/TheAmazingWorldOfGumball'': Everyone on the show has their moments. The most consistent ones though are [[MrViceGuy Gumball]], [[SmallNameBigEgo Tobias]], and ''especially'' [[NewJobAsThePlotDemands Larry]].
** Some of Gumball's classmates like Banana Joe, Alan, Leslie, Sarah, Bobert, Teri, Idaho, Anton, Colin and Felix tend to he mutilated on a regular basis.
** Some characters get hurt or suffer a lot, like Betty the chalkboard woman, Banana Bob and Barbara, Rob, Gaylord Robinson, Gary Hedges, the dolphin man, Hot og Guy, Tony the fat guy, etc.
* ''WesternAnimation/AmericanDad'':
** Steve. He's been beat up and/or tormented by nearly every other character in the show, like jocks at school, Roger, his friends, and even his ''dad'' in one episode.
** Klaus is even worse, a professional skier whose brain was swapped with a goldfish's by the CIA (well, what was Stan supposed to do, just ''let East Germany win the Olympics?''). He is confined to a small empty bowl perpetually where he is routinely ignored, rebuked or abused by all five of the Smiths routinely, and has an increasing depression over his loneliness. He does swear revenge against Steve and Roger in one episode, but they trap him to avoid the revenge.
** Roger also has his fair share as he was abused by a boy that he befriended named Henry, was beaten up by Stan in multiple episodes [[AssholeVictim which he deserved completely]], got mauled by a coyote in a Thanksgiving special, got betrayed and vivisected by a woman he dated, and even had a heart attack as a result of being overly stressed out from working at his bar. Roger has recovered from all of this.
** Jeff Fischer has been skinned alive by Roger, beaten, mugged and almost raped (by [[ComedicSociopath Roger]]), made fun of constantly by everyone in the main cast including Hayley, physically assaulted and threatened by Stan, ripped in half twice, blown up, left in space to die by Roger, dissected by aliens, shot himself in the face thinking the gun had a strawberry in it, had his legs mangled, etc.
** Snot Lonstein gets screwed over by Steve , bullied at school, had an abusive absent father who died, has an alcoholic neglectful mother, and is poor.
** Al Tuttle's wife died, he gained a ton of weight, and then lost it, and he's so lonely and desperate for companionship he hangs out with the Smiths even though they get him into horrible situations and occasionally bully him.
** Stan's coworker at the CIA, Dick Reynolds is the least popular at the office probably because his name is Dick.
** Buckle is married to an annoying nagging Semitic woman.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Amphibia}}'': Anne is a rare female protagonist who is this. After all, having to navigate in a different world where several of the animals are trying to kill her will not make getting back home easy. Her status [[Administrivia/TropesAreTools is actually used to make it harder for her to adapt to Amphibia, and once she learns more, the status lessens]]. In season 3, where the Plantars stay with Anne’s parents, Mr. Boonchuy is the one to fill this role, as the Planters mishaps always seem to negatively affect him in some way.
* “WesternAnimation/TheAngryBeavers”: Every episode has Daggett getting mistreated in some way, usually severely and for no good reason. The abuse is especially bad in season 1, because at that point in the series, Norbert is good at omitting the fact that he is a narcissist. Daggett also has awful luck in that season compared to Norbert. Perhaps the most excruciating aspect of Daggett’s existence is that no matter how hard he works, Norbert upstages him with zero effort, mostly due to being far more intelligent and attractive.
* ''WesternAnimation/AnimalMechanicals'': There is not one episode that doesn't involve Komodo getting kicked around through either something going on in the mission or through Sasquatch's unawareness. [[BreadEggsBreadedEggs Or both]].
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Animaniacs}}'': Many characters either existed to be abused by the Warners or just can't catch a break in general. Examples are Dr. Scratchnsniff, the mime, Buttons, the Goodfeathers (especially Squit), Rita and Runt, Mr. Skullhead, Pinky and the Brain, and Chicken Boo.
* ''WesternAnimation/AquaTeenHungerForce'': Carl seems to get injured, killed, or have his property destroyed by the Aqua Teens and their associates just for living next to them.
** Meatwad is this out of the Aqua Teens, often being abused by Shake.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Archer}}'':
** Sterling is constantly abused for being a {{Jerkass}}, including getting shot multiple times and then flung through the front window of a car by Lana. Malory loves passing him up for assignments and once forced him to teach Cyril to be manly and cool enough for Lana. In any given assignment, it's all he can do to just barely do as he was told, and his constant semi-suicidal attempts to complete said missions are never actually acknowledged.
** Archer abuses Woodhouse, seeing him as some kind of unbearable BumblingSidekick despite all evidence to the contrary. In one notable example, he is tied up in a hotel room by the villains. Archer is completing his mission and suddenly realizes that Woodhouse is still tied up, alone, hungry, and probably dehydrated... and laughs his ass off.
** Archer mistreats Carol/Cheryl/what's-her-name before, after, and during their various trysts. Pam is universally hated around the office. Cyril gets no respect from Lana and Archer. Almost all the abuse at the trio has to do with the fact that they're sluts [[spoiler: (yes, Cyril too)]], but then again every member of the main cast is pretty promiscuous, so by any fair measure they're actually being treated cruelly for no real reason at all.
** Brett, a colleague who simply acts as a stray-bullet-magnet, of which apparently there are many in ISIS' offices, more often than not coming from Archer's gun.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Arthur}}'': Principal Haney. In one episode, two characters even related flashbacks which ended in him suffering some form of abuse, and when a third character related a flashback that did not, Arthur asks "Aren't you forgetting something?" Cue the continuation of that flashback in which, yes, Principal Haney suffers abuse. He gets better later in the series though, with the titular character taking over by being prone to misfortunes.
* ''WesternAnimation/AtomicPuppet'': Captain Atomic's ex-BumblingSidekick Mookie, whose constant attempts to try replace Atomic Puppet as the protector of Mega City lead to a lot of harm and humiliation (brought upon himself 99% of the time).
* ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'':
** Sokka, as a frequent source of [[PluckyComicRelief comic relief]] throughout the series, is a victim of increasingly violent slapstick and harsh mockery. Basically if someone is going to get [[CoveredInGunge covered in sewage or bison snot]], it will undoubtedly be Sokka. [[CartwrightCurse Aside from humor, he once fell for a princess, only to learn that she was engaged, which was a moot point once]] [[spoiler:she got [[TonightSomeoneDies killed off and turned into the moon.]] Which was rough]]. There was even an episode in the second season where he was stuck in a hole for the entirety of the episode. It comes to a head in the final season, where he leaves the group for a few weeks in an attempt to become a strong enough warrior to lose this status. Sokka's bad luck was Lampshaded in the Season 1 episode "The Fortuneteller," where the titular fortune-teller Aunt Wu tells Sokka "Your future is full of struggle and anguish... most of it self-inflicted." Aunt Wu's point is soon demonstrated when Sokka, complaining about her prediction for him, vigorously kicks a small stone, which ricochets violently off a sign and strikes him.
** Even though Zuko's suffering usually falls under CosmicPlaything, just look at how many times he gets hurt in funny/sad/pathetic ways. In the second episode, he got nailed by Sokka's boomerang and ended up butt-up in the snow thanks to Aang. He's also splashed hot tea on his face, smashed his thumb with a hammer, fallen off a house, fallen off a lot of other things (repeatedly), gotten whacked in the head once every couple of episodes, and been tricked into knocking Mai into a fountain by Azula. Also, watch how many times he gets pummeled/slammed against the wall/slammed against the floor in "The Boiling Rock."
** When the Cabbage Merchant appears, you know his cabbages are going to get destroyed. (MY CABBAGES!!!! *sobs*)
* ''WesternAnimation/AvengerPenguins'': Harry Slime is constantly abused verbally and physically by his evil boss, by Mr. Doom.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheBackyardigans'': Poor, poor Tyrone. Shall we count the instances?
** "The Yeti": Gets roped into the girls' frozen north trek and has to play peacemaker between them the whole darn episode.
** "It's Great to Be a Ghost!": Is forced into the ghost game against his will, and gets the crap scared out if him the entire time. Did I mention that [[WithFriendsLikeThese Pablo and Uniqua KNEW he was scared and yet made him do it anyway?]] [[spoiler: He does get the last laugh on both them and Tasha when he disguises himself as a BedsheetGhost and uses it to scare all of them]].
** "Monster Detectives": Has to put up with Uniqua being TooDumbToLive, only to [[spoiler:lose her to the Soccer Monster.]]
** "Special Delivery": Spends the entire episode scared out of his mind because he thinks the bikers were trying to tamper with the mail, which could very well get him ''fired''.
** "International Super Spy": Has to put up with the Lady in Pink's bossiness.
** "Sinbad Sails Alone": Forced to put up with Pablo's antics.
** "Best Clowns in Town": Forced to put up with three clowns' antics, and just like in "It's Great to Be a Ghost!", they ''know'' they're bothering him. He ends up screaming "CLOWNS!" repeatedly throughout the episode whenever he gets really mad at them.
** "Who Goes There?": Forced to put up with the others' antics yet again, and this time he risks getting fired from the job he ''just got''.
** "To the Center of the Earth", quite possibly the worst 'The writers hate Tyrone' episode. Loses his lucky penny, which he treasures, and forced to go on a ridiculously dragged-out mission to get it back. And each time they lose the penny again, he points out that he could have just ''walked over and picked it up'', and everytime he gets ignored.
** "Match on Mt. Olympus": Becomes a CosmicPlaything to the gods/goddesses.
** "Escape from Fairytale Village": Spends the entire episode running for his life because he thinks everyone wants to ''eat him''.
** "Robot Rampage": First he gets grabbed by an out-of-control robot who's driving like a maniac. Once the robot drops him, he feels sick and dizzy. After that, he has to [[ItMakesSenseInContext dress like a robot]], which involves wearing roller skates. He can't skate for the life of him.
* ''WesternAnimation/BeCoolScoobyDoo'': The Mystery Inc. gang. Unlike the past versions of themselves, they get pushed around and get shit-talked by any assholes around them.
* ''WesternAnimation/BeavisAndButthead'' has a lot of these. In fact, the series [[OlderThanTheyThink even regularly used the term]] before the [[Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer trope namer]] ever did.
** The title characters are the series' biggest examples. Their stupidity and obnoxious behavior frequently get them in trouble with the wrong kinds of people and throw them into bad situations that they only worsen with their idiocy. Nonetheless, the results are hilarious. Beavis gets the worst of it.
** Many of the people B&B interact with could qualify too, but the biggest of these are their teacher Mr. Van Dreissen (whose attempts to reach out to the duo constantly fail, but even then, he is prone to grisly fates also often caused by the duo), Tom Anderson (their hapless neighbour), Principal [=McVicker=] (who always tries to get the boys out of his hair with no avail), and Stewart (who has the misfortune of being the closest thing B&B have to a friend that isn't each other, and they don't even like him).
* ''WesternAnimation/Ben10AlienForce'': Kevin can't catch a break with his TroubledButCute persona. On top of being too [[strike:afraid]] macho to ask Gwen out, even after she kissed him, he gets his butt handed to him at least once an episode. In the premier, [[DefeatMeansFriendship Ben thoroughly trounces him as Swampfire]], and the [[BigBad Highbreed]] brushes off his attacks. Next episode, he winds up frozen and needs defrosting (Although to be fair, he was frozen along with Ben, Gwen and a police squad). Then he's chained down and turned into a giant chandelier and mined for crystal by [[strike:Oompa Loompas]] little robot henchmen. Then his instant self-made armor gets blasted off of him by [[BishieSparkle a sparkly blond prettyboy]]. Episode six gives him a break (though he ''does'' complain it's "the worst road trip ever"), but in seven it's back to being pounded, this time right into the ground by Gwen's ''grandmother''. And in eight, he ends up being [[ClothingDamage ripped into]] by an old school bully of Ben's who's [[DemonicPossession possessed by a vicious metal armor]]. He was threatening in the original ''WesternAnimation/Ben10''. One wonders [[CoolCar why he's respected by the rest of the cast]]...
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Bernard}}'': The titular character is usually put through the ringer in each episode.
* ''WesternAnimation/BestEd'': Buddy is vehemently despised by everyone in Swellville and extremely unlucky. Every time Ed causes trouble, Buddy is the one who receives the blame, while Ed usually goes scot free.
%%* ''WesternAnimation/BikerMiceFromMars'': Greasepit.
* ''WesternAnimation/BlazeAndTheMonsterMachines'': [[StupidEvil Crusher]]. ''Every ounce'' of bad luck in the show falls onto him. He constantly loses in races, AnimalsHateHim, he [[DidntThinkThisThrough never thinks his plans thoroughly]] [[NiceJobFixingItVillain which allows Blaze to get past his traps]], need we say more?
* ''WesternAnimation/TheBoondocks'':
** Tom Dubois, but more often than not he brings the trouble upon himself. He always talks about and complains about his fear of getting sent to prison and being raped there, up to the point that his Caucasian wife Sarah is so sick of listening to it that she's come to regret marrying Tom. He also got a big beating from Usher's bodyguards for slapping Usher in the face after wrongfully accusing Usher of having an affair with his wife. And then Tom signed ''himself'' up for slavery in Freedomland for stupid reasons.
** Any female character who interacts with [[StrawMisogynist Riley Freeman]] is in for a very bad day. Take for instance that poor babysitter who Riley [[WouldHitAGirl held at gunpoint, assaulted and robbed]] while Huey sat there and ''did nothing about it''.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Brickleberry}}'':
** While all 6 main characters get to play the ButtMonkey, the role is usually reserved for Steve Williams since his stupidity and occasionally his bold impertinence bring a lot of bad luck on him.
** Woody Johnson, Steve's boss, gets inflicted with horrible pain and torture just as soon as he does something (or many things) to [[AssholeVictim deserve]]. But it turns out he had a horrible childhood living with his abusive mother.
** Connie, when the subject is about making fun of her ugly face, her gullibility, her fat body and the fact no man or '''woman''' would ever want her, that is until [[ChubbyChaser Barack Obama]] came, but it turns out he's too crazy for Connie and always asks of sexual favors from her like giving him her panties or letting him play with her "flappy dappy ass".
* ''WesternAnimation/TheBuzzOnMaggie'':
** Nothing seems to go right for Maggie Pesky. She keeps getting hated by everyone in Sticky Feet after doing something wrong, even though all she ever wanted was to be popular.
** Pupert Pesky, Maggie's little brother, keeps getting bullied by Aldrin, like in "Funball".
%%** The Judge from "Trailer Park".
* ''WesternAnimation/BubbleGuppies'': Gil. It doesn't help that he's the CowardlyLion (and his fears are often what grants him Butt Monkey status).
* ''WesternAnimation/CampLazlo'':
** Samson is a designated dumping ground for bad luck, asthma, and volleyballs that fly out of nowhere.
** Edward and/or Scoutmaster Lumpus too, but since those two are always abusing Lazlo and his friends, it's usually karmic retribution.
** Slinkman is always getting abused or exploited by Lumpus. Slinkman has admitted that Lumpus never pays him which counts as wage theft nor allots him any vacation days. On a few occasions, [[TheDogBitesBack Slinkman has managed to get back at Lumpus]].
* ''WesternAnimation/CaptainPlanetAndThePlaneteers'': Disrespected by the villains, constantly butting heads with his teammates, always being set up to be proven wrong ([[StrawmanHasAPoint even when he's not]]) and regularly getting embarrassed in some way; Wheeler gets it rough. To some degree, the universe picking on him [[KarmicButtMonkey seems intended as a punishment for his flaws]]. He takes it all in stride for the most part, but even he has his limits.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{CatDog}}'': Cat is constantly dragged around on Dog's misadventures literally, and receives bigger beatings from the Greasers than his brother. It's probably worth noting that about half the time it's LaserGuidedKarma though.
* ''WesternAnimation/ClassOf3000'':
** Kam is usually the one to suffer comical misfortune and is also the resident NoRespectGuy. Notably, the series "Ow! My eye!" running gag is usually delivered by someone that sounds like Kam, suggesting he is in fact getting hit with the item offscreen.
** If Kam is unavailable for whatever reason, however, then Madison will take up this role instead, which includes being the implied victim for the "Ow! My eye!" gag.
* ''WesternAnimation/ClassicDisneyShorts'':
** WesternAnimation/DonaldDuck frequently finds himself in this position, open to torment by various supporting characters or simply cruel fate. ("Who gets stuck with all the bad luck? No one but Donald Duck.") Other times, he brings on his own misery by virtue of being hot-headed and kind of a {{Jerkass}}. ''WesternAnimation/HouseOfMouse'' frequently showed short cartoons under the title of "Donald's Dynamite", in which Donald would find himself lumbered with a CartoonBomb that no matter how he tried, he couldn't get rid of. Inevitably, these would be about five minutes of watching Donald become increasingly desperate to escape the explosive before being blown up.
** WesternAnimation/{{Goofy}} has developed a slight Butt Monkey status in a lot of his "How To" shorts. Whether it's Goofy himself or the many lookalikes that appear during these videos, most of them either end with or feature him getting hurt or beaten up. For example, the "How To Dance" video ends with him getting knocked over during an energetic dance on a crowded floor, causing him to get punched, kicked, and squished by the other people on the floor.
* ''WesternAnimation/CodeLyoko'':
** Sissi is [[DesignatedVillain supposed to be]] the AlphaBitch, but you would be hard pressed to find a character outside her cronies and father that doesn't enjoy constantly insulting her ''to her face''. This gets awkward when the prequel comes around and it's revealed that she's basically involved in a kind of ViciousCycle, acting like the AlphaBitch in response to the bad treatment she gets from everyone else, which is essentially a response to her AlphaBitch behavior. [[spoiler: The Lyoko kids do manage to break this cycle in the finale, and Sissi does prove that she's been a JerkWithAHeartOfGold all along.]]
** Odd gets little respect and is constantly failing at various goals he pursues, such as holding on to a girlfriend (though, to be fair, it doesn't help that he dates multiple girls at the same time). He also is notoriously bad at school that even the teachers mock him for it publically. Let's not forget the constant dissing he gets from his friends, most infamously them stealing his own virtual pet toy and giving it to Yumi's little brother, who soon afterwards breaks it. And also, as he himself lampshades, he's the sole character whose Lyoko form "looks like a nitwit".
* ''WesternAnimation/CodenameKidsNextDoor'':
** The Toiletnator. Sure the guy has the power to control all toilets and has the coolest name but none of the other villains give him any respect and they all think of him as being annoying.
** Numbuh 4 gets this treatment periodically, sometimes being self-inflicted due to his short temper and because he's very stupid. A notable example being when Sector V was all temporarily decommissioned.
--->'''Numbuh 1:''' (speaking to Numbuh 2) Sure, you're smart, that's why you're not the one on the pole.\
'''Numbuh 4:''' (On the pole) Hey!
** Numbuh 1, the main character of the show, also has his moments of Butt Monkeying. He is forced to deal with his lovesick girlfriend Lizzie, he was kidnapped (and humiliated) by villains when they painted him gold and strapped wings on him so that he'll be the trophy for "Villain of the Year", and one time his teammates dumped him into the ocean [[NakedPeopleTrappedOutside then he loses his trunks and gets forced to sneak through a crowded beach]].
* ''WesternAnimation/CourageTheCowardlyDog'':
** The title character constantly suffers this a lot, as not only does he go through a lot of macabre misadventures, he also takes ''A LOT'' of crap, from getting injured in many different ways to getting beat down by many different characters, primarily the villains, not to mention the unwarranted abuse he suffers in the hands of Eustace. The poor dog just can't catch a break for once.
** Eustace himself is an even bigger one, as he is often subjected to many [[TheyKilledKennyAgain hilarious deaths]] and is, in general, [[LaserGuidedKarma karma's favorite punching bag.]] Unlike Courage, of course, Eustace [[{{Jerkass}} usually deserves it]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TheCritic'': Jay Sherman and his son Marty.
* ''WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom'': Tucker is dumped on quite a lot and has saved Danny more than once and yet, he only gets thanked once and it's a "thanks for being my friend" that Danny throws out to Sam as well. Although it's heartfelt, the execution of how that came about feels rather tacked on and awkward. Later seasons have him either virtually ignored or usually getting victimized.
* ''WesternAnimation/DanVs'':
** Chris is often roped into Dan's antics, hated by Elise's parents, and is the source of many comical injuries inflicted on him in a sporadic manner. He is also on the receiving end of punishment along with Dan.
** Varying from nowhere near to over-crossing Chris' extent, Dan himself has his moments where he falls towards this since his haplessness kickstarts most of his unfortunate misadventures. Though it's not just his anger issues that bring him consequences, Dan lives in a town filled with some of the worst people imaginable such as mean lemonade stand kids, an imposter that stole his identity and clothes, some random guy who stole his sandwich out of his hand, and a ninja that stole his cookies.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Daria}}'':
** Anthony De Martino. Ms. Barch has beaten him up several times, a classic rock DJ gave him a heart attack and broke his knee during a school-sponsored roller hockey game, he's seen two of his friends (the unnamed childhood friend from "Anti-Social Climbers" and Mr. O'Neill) get married to women he loathes (his mom and Mrs. Barch respectively), he once had to teach a sewing class as part of a deal on his teacher's contract, he grew up with a negligent mom who cared more about the men she dated more than her own son, he lost his car in a card game, he was forced to go on a casino cruise despite the fact that he's a recovering gambling addict, he has to deal with moronic students like Kevin and Brittany on a daily basis — it's a wonder he was never committed to a mental hospital. The only times De Martino ever had a Throw the Dog a Bone moment were when he forced Ms. Li to sign the new teacher's contract that promised a 10% raise in salary, and the events of ''Is It Fall Yet?''.
** Tom Sloane has been this sometimes (though he does not deserve it [[NiceGuy for obvious reasons]], compared with De Martino). More specifically in "Psycho Therapy", where he was indirectly humiliated in front of a internet's webcam seen by several people.
* ''WesternAnimation/DarkwingDuck'':
** The title character is routinely subjected to the sort of [[AmusingInjuries slapstick cartoon abuse]] that usually gets inflicted on the ''antagonists'' of a cartoon. And despite dealing with AxCrazy villains like [[EvilTwin NegaDuck]], criminal masterminds like Taurus Bulba, evil scientists, demons, and being S.H.U.S.H.'s top freelance contractor and one of FOWL's worst enemies, he [[DudeWheresMyRespect doesn't get an ounce of respect from the city he protects]]. He's constantly upstaged by [[WesternAnimation/DuckTales1987 Gizmoduck]], and even when Darkwing wins a "Superhero of the Year" award, the award is a statue of ''Gizmoduck'' with his hat and cape attached, because Gizmoduck winning was considered a foregone conclusion.
** Steelbeak takes a lot of abuse whenever he appears. You just ''know'' you're a ButtMonkey when you can upstage DW.
* ''WesternAnimation/DextersLaboratory'': Dexter suffers this greatly in alot of crazy forms. For example, his entire lab is completely destroyed (usually by the curiosity of his annoying sister Dee Dee), the earth is destroyed, Dexter is turned into a sandwich, etc. He also gets into big trouble from his mom and dad as well. Especially his backbone-lacking teenage/young adult self in "Ego Trip", who works for Mandark designing cubicles in the future.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Doug}}'' can become this when he is the victim of Roger's pranks. Also, Roger himself can fall towards this trope when [[LaserGuidedKarma most of his schemes backfire on him and he ends up being on the receiving end himself]].
* ''WesternAnimation/DragonTales'': Poor, poor Zak -- he may prefer things calm, neat and clean, but he's [[ConjoinedTwins literally]] always stuck with wild and hyperactive Wheezie, which frequently gets him into trouble and results in arguments between the two. He is also the prime target of most of the show's slapstick.
* ''WesternAnimation/DrawnTogether'': Many characters end up being Butt Monkeys in one way or another, given the deranged nature of the show. In particular, Clara, Ling Ling, Wooldoor, and Toot suffer the worst effects.
* ''WesternAnimation/DuckTales1987'': Fenton Crackshell was extraordinarily good at counting, and he did become the super hero Gizmoduck. But he also had a big case of bad luck and a tendency to screw things up, and he was beaten up by the Beagles four times in one episode alone. And he lived with his trailer trash mother, who would often care more about watching TV than listening to what her only son had to say. Not to mention that he was stuck with dating Gandra Dee, who often was ungrateful or cold-hearted towards him.
* In ''WesternAnimation/DuckTales2017'', Donald Duck again. Eventually deconstructed in "The Golden Spear" when he begins molting from stress, leading to his doctor prescribing a ''hammock'' to him. His family ends up taking pity on him and [[ThrowTheDogABone book him a month-long cruise]]... which goes horribly wrong when he stumbles upon [[spoiler:his sister]]'s rocket seconds after she leaves it and accidentally launches himself into space... [[YankTheDogsChain where he is immediately taken hostage by aliens]].
* ''WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddy'':
** The Eds, as almost everyone on the show hates them, they are constantly humiliated from their attempts to earn respect from their peers, always getting sexually harassed by the Kankers, and doomed to fail at every money-making venture they've ever made. Not to forget each three often suffer AmusingInjuries for the sake of comedy.
*** Ed has it the worst at home, having to put up with a short-tempered bratty sister who constantly assaults him with her bare hands ("Hand Me Down Ed" entails she even attacks him with baseball bats and golf clubs), a disciplinarian mother who isn't more merciful towards Ed than Sarah is and he sleeps in a cold basement. Ed's stupidity often pushes him, and in most cases Edd and Eddy as well, into trouble.
*** Edd, despite his clearly polite manners and dexterous knowledge on all subjects, gets almost no respect from anybody. He never gets thanked or compensated by Eddy for all the hard work he puts into Eddy's scams, and usually all of Edd's incredible gadgets just go to waste because the scams fail to sell. Even so, if Eddy and/or Ed do something unethical then the kids sometimes/often assume Edd is equally responsible and [[MisplacedRetribution punish Edd]].
*** Eddy is probably the biggest one of the three. He regularly suffers from making horribly rash decisions that ultimately backfire on him and in most cases the other two Eds. He often makes decisions that lead to horrid consequences out of greed, sadism or just plain stupidity. Even when he does nothing, he's been picked on by the other kids for his short height, middle name, a pimple, a bad school photo, etc. (it varies depending on the episode).
** Jimmy is ''extremely'' accident-prone. The early episodes heavily lampshaded this. Virtually every scene he was in, he was sporting anything from bandages to arm casts and a neck brace from unseen injuries.
** Jonny 2x4 sometimes, if the subject is his big head. Ironically, Jonny is regardless accepted as a friend worth hanging out with by the rest of the Cul-de-sac kids unlike how the Eds are ostracized entirely, despite the fact that he's not much better than the Eds at being pleasant company.
** Out of the Kanker sisters, May is this, particularly when Lee and Marie gang up on her. However, she does dish it back.
* ''WesternAnimation/EekTheCat'' entire purpose of the show was about placing an incredibly sympathetic, sincere, likable character in a series of gags designed to bring harm to him. In later seasons, however, Sharky the Shark Dog took over the role (though you could say much of the time he [[JerkassWoobie brings it on himself]]). In one short "Try Hard" he recruited his international cousins to try to eliminate the cat once and for all. Eek unwittingly thwarted their plans through sheer dumb luck.
* ''WesternAnimation/EvilConCarne'': General Skarr has been zapped, electrified, burned, blasted by lasers, attacked by animals, and blown up many times throughout the series. In Season 2, episodes dedicated entire sideplots to him being tortured.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'':
** Timmy. Parents who would rather go out for a night on the town and tend to discipline you with a cage, a bitchy and manipulative babysitter, a gray-skinned bully, and a SadistTeacher who gives you "F"s for the hell of it? Good thing he has fairies.
*** In the episode "It's a Wishful Life", Timmy wished he was never born due to being unappreciated by his parents, best friends, etc, even though he was just trying be helpful. When Timmy got his wish, he ends up seeing all characters being very successful, happier, and without flaws just because Timmy doesn't exist, even though he didn't ''directly'' have anything to do with most of their situations when he ''did'' exist.
** Binky, a fairy whose every apperance has something bad happening to him. The fact that he seems to be [[TheAhnold Jorgen's]] assistant [[VitriolicBestBuds probably makes it worse]].
** Veronica, a member of the popular kids. Despite her status, most jokes involving her involve something painful happening to her.
** Cosmo is somewhat of a Butt Monkey at times. Two words: [[TraumaButton Super Toilet]].
---> '''Cosmo''': So much clogging! * gets into fetal position and sucks his thumb*
** [[SadistTeacher Mr. Crocker]] lives with his mother, has a hunch back, his ears are on his neck, and he gets beaten and mauled by everyone on a regular basis all because of the MindWipe Jorgen placed on him and the townspeople of Dimmsdale when he was a child.
* ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'':
** Meg Griffin is one of the most '''infamous''' examples in Western Animation. She goes through all kinds of crap, primarily being ignored, neglected, and ridiculed by her own family. At first she was merely a BrattyTeenageDaughter indirectly humiliated by her family's well-intentioned bumbling or quirkiness. This evolved into the entire universe growing a profound hatred of her, with practically everyone -- even her own family -- showing a casual disregard for her well-being. This even extended to the [[Recap/FamilyGuyS18E14TheMovement cast of]] ''WesternAnimation/AmericanDad''. Fortunately, it is starting to get toned down since Season 8 onward.
** Brian. Beyond the fourth season, the writers started shackling him with a lot more bad luck and bodily harm. Every woman he date winds up dumping him either due to his own insecurities, bad advice and/or meddling from Stewie (who mind you is a baby and has only one dating experience ''which he asked for Brian's advice on'') or just cause the plot says so. Always winds up falling to whatever Stewie is doing at the moment. Fails at pretty much any endeavor he tries. Mocked constantly, even getting berated by ''Quagmire'' of all people for his failings. And keep in mind Brian is supposed to be the intelligent one. Talk about a turn around of character.
** Joe Swanson. The entire universe seems to hate him just because he's crippled. Peter prank-calls him in a fake voice just to insult him for being crippled. Everytime his wife Bonnie appears she's either having an affair or ''planning Joe's murder.''
** Peter is often being the subject of slapstick, especially in the cutaway gags. [[{{Jerkass}} Not that it's unwarranted for the most part]].
* ''WesternAnimation/FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends'': Almost everyone has gotten their fair share of it.
** Frankie is probably the biggest example due to the constant craziness she has to put up with from the imaginary friends (especially Bloo and Mr. Herriman). Herriman treats her like a slave/maid forcing her to work long hours of physically demanding labor taking care of every friend in the house as while Herriman just sits back and criticizes her without helping at all.
** Blooregard Q. Kazoo gets bulldozed over by lots of people, mainly cause he's puny and small. The most common example is that Herriman is always threatening to give him away to a kid if Mac doesn't arrive at the house by 3 P.M. everyday. Then again, [[{{Jerkass}} considering that Bloo tends to cause even more strife to the other occupants of the home]] (''especially'' Frankie), he kinda has it coming.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}'':
** Zoidberg is the most common recipient of the trope and serves as the show's walking punchline. He's always poor, hungry, lonely, lives in a dumpster, and is disliked, bullied, and mistreated by most of his co-workers (especially Hermes), sometimes for no reason.
** Kif Kroker is put upon a lot because Zapp Brannigan blames him for his own failings and constantly treats him like a slave; Kif's gotten a bit depressive as a result.
** Fry is the LoserProtagonist and regularly suffers a lot of physical comedy and AmusingInjuries.
** [[ObstructiveBureaucrat Hermes Conrad]] has his moments, sometimes being the crew's butt-monkey whenever Zoidberg isn't available.
* ''WesternAnimation/GarfieldAndFriends'':
** Jon Arbuckle frequently finds himself in this role. Garfield [[KickTheDog makes a habit of mocking Jon for it]], especially when it's about Jon being lonely and unable to find a date.
** Garfield himself when he gets paid a visit by antagonists such as Binky the Clown, Nermal, the Buddy Bears, the network executive, etc. In one episode called "Binky Goes Bad!", Garfield's decision to help Binky clear his name from a criminal who framed him [[NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished only makes Binky promise to pull unfriendly pranks such as pie-in-the-face every day of his life]]. Though other times Garfield does bring a lot of trouble on himself because his insatiable appetite and careless personality makes him stoop as low as to steal food which makes humans angrily chase after him in "Attention-Getting Garfield" and unnecessarily pissing off a bunch of big, burly dogs in "It Must Be True!" and "Dogmother 2".
** Wade Duck on ''U.S. Acres''. If anyone is bored on the farm (Roy more than anyone else), the solution is to make Wade run screaming in a fear-induced panic. And more often than not, Orson would then chew out ''Wade'' for falling for the prank rather that the perpetrator.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Gargoyles}}'': Vinnie Grigori, who seems to have a horrible encounter with the protagonists every other week, starting with his motorcycle getting destroyed and escalating from there. Deconstructed later in the series when we get [[PerspectiveFlip an episode from his perspective]] and get to see just how miserable his life has become as a result of his constant misfortunes. [[spoiler:He ends up trying to take vengeance on Goliath for it all... and ''succeeds''. Mostly because his idea of vengeance was hitting Goliath with a PieInTheFace. As he's walking off into the sunset afterwards, Goliath and Hudson [[UnknownRival wonder who the hell that guy was]].]]
* ''WesternAnimation/GIJoeRenegades'': Tunnel Rat. Not only is he wanted for a crime he didn't commit, but most of his team mates are always annoyed with him. They don't even treat him with respect.
* A take on the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9XgX6zLquY "Going to the Zoo Tomorrow"]] rhyme has the boy get his hat stolen by a monkey, get sprayed with water by an elephant, go flying when the crocodile he's surfing on hits an objectile, fall in a turtle's RemovableShell, and end up staying in the zoo overnight when the ostrich he's riding on goes out of control.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheGoodeFamily'': Gerold Goode is the show's cross between DoggedNiceGuy and TheDitz. He was this in the radio episode, "Trouble in Store" and "Gerold's Way or The High Way".
* ''WesternAnimation/GoofTroop'':
** Pete, TheChewToy, whose suffering is the main joke of a lot of his focus episodes, mainly because he's such a huge {{Jerkass}} to everyone (but especially the other two Butt Monkeys) that [[LaserGuidedKarma he has it coming]].
** Goofy, the IronButtMonkey, whose suffering is humorous when [[TheKlutz self-inflicted]] and when he [[ComicallyMissingThePoint doesn't notice]] but less so when other people deliberately and successfully hurt him, mainly because he's both a NiceGuy and a {{Cloudcuckoolander}}.
** PJ, the NoRespectGuy, whose suffering is almost always PlayedForDrama or at least mild sympathy, with even the ''most'' humorous moments being given pitying laughs, mainly because he's a NiceGuy who also has a generally vulnerable personality.
* ''WesternAnimation/GravityFalls'':
** Dipper Pines, while a more subtle example than most, qualifies. It seems to be a pretty big factor when it comes to his trust issues. Another instance would be Thompson, who is very literally the butt-monkey of his friend group (although maybe not the show), doing things such as eating run-over waffles or having ice dumped down his pants. Although Thompson also weaponizes his status in order to [[spoiler: get everyone to reconcile at the end of "The Love God"]] Let's not forget Toby Determined, who gets zero respect from any of the townspeople and is generally a total failure in his life.
** Poor Pacifica Northwest is revealed to be this midway through S2 thanks to her AbusiveParents. She wants to do whatever she wants, but is forced to live up to the Northwest family name whether she wants to or not, to the point Preston has to ring a bell to get her to listen.
** Also, [[spoiler:Stanford Pines, despite being supposedly an awesome multiverse warrior and being the Author of The Journals, spends most of the show getting his butt kicked and needing someone to come rescue him. In "Dipper and Mabel vs. The Future," it comes to a head when he needs to be rescued from being dragged into space by his own grandnephew. And then he’s a DistressedDude during much of the GrandFinale.]]
** Stan was this in the ten years between his disownment and [[spoiler: Ford going through the Portal.]] None of his scams worked, he got banned from half of the US, was in prison in three countries and it’s strongly implied that [[spoiler: his father wouldn’t have welcomed him back, even if he did get rich.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/TheGrimAdventuresOfBillyAndMandy'':
** Grim despite being TheGrimReaper, is subjected to a life as eternal [[TheChewToy "friend"]] to a complete meathead with uncontrollable destructive tendencies and a Machiavellian sociopath of a girl. TheGrimReaper as StraightMan? How ironic.
** Billy gets a lot of physical abuse.
** Pud'n seems to be a dumping ground for the weirdest, most horrible incidents that Maxwell Atoms can think of.
** Irwin is in love with Mandy, who hates him and hurts him commonly; he goes through torture like being eaten, made fun of, physically attacked in every way, ended up in a few downer endings, and more; he got caught in the tub twice both in court and a warp hole. He's like the black equivalent to Millhouse.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Grojband}}'':
** Trina Riffin. The entire premise of the series is that the eponymous garage band put her through tons of MuseAbuse in order to get her to write in her diary so they can get use it for songs. However, Trina is also a humongous {{jerkass}} and the show's BigBad, so [[AssholeVictim you're not going to be feeling sorry for her most of the time]].
** Mina is an even bigger example than Trina, due to being her beleaguered YesMan. Trina constantly abuses and berates her despite the two being best friends, and she often receives the worst misfortunes of everyone on the show.
** Among the members of Grojband, Kon the drummer seems to be the main target of slapstick and AmusingInjuries, and he frequently gets hurt the worst out of all four of them.
** In early episodes, Laney was the band member who got mocked the most (because she's the bassist and NobodyLovesTheBassist). Many jokes were made at her expense early on, especially regarding [[LadyLooksLikeADude her appearance]] and other characters getting on her nerves. This was heavily downplayed as time went on though, with the misgendering RunningGag being entirely dropped in the second half of the season.
* ''WesternAnimation/HarveyBeaks'':
** Princess may be a whiny and spoiled RichBitch, but [[LaserGuidedKarma karma is also a bitch]].
** [[TheEeyore Kratz]] is an even bigger {{Buttmonkey}}. The ColdOpening of "The Unknown Comic" pretty much sums it up -- he drops his toothbrush in the toilet, stains the crotch of his pants with his drink, loses his ice cream money in a breeze, gets stung by wasps, and finally gets the money back only to find the ice cream man is all out... all in the span of one morning.
** Moff has been described as the creators as their "go-to guy to be humiliated". Jeremy could also be described in the same way.
* ''WesternAnimation/HeyArnold'':
** Eugene. Almost every episode has him in some form of pain (usually followed by him saying "I'm okay.").
** Brainy is always behind Helga "breathing" and gets punched in the face as a result.
** Helga herself falls towards this more than Brainy. Her schemes often backfire on her, everyone else treats her like dirt, and her attempts to win Arnold's heart often end in unsuccessful results. [[FreudianExcuse And we can't forget about her family life]].
** Not even Arnold himself is immune to this. He becomes the victim of pranks, is among one of the fourth graders picked on by the fifth graders, and we can't forget about what happens to him in "Arnold Betrays Iggy".
* ''WesternAnimation/HiHiPuffyAmiYumi'':
** Kaz takes the cake as being the most unlucky character in the show, though this comes off as LaserGuidedKarma most of the time since he's such a selfish cheap-skate.
** Ami and Yumi suffers a fair amount of misfortunes, including fighting a bull, getting chased by their number one biggest fan, getting attacked by an alligator, and so forth.
* ''WesternAnimation/IAmWeasel'': I. R. Baboon fits the trope perfectly, but with a bonus. As a baboon with no pants, he's about as close to a literal Butt Monkey as you can get.
* ''WesternAnimation/InvaderZim'':
** Dib is the butt of everyone's jokes, due to his perceived insanity regarding the paranormal (as well as the size of his head). An interesting example as he is the show's designated protagonist. His father is generally absent, using the little time he has with Dib to bemoan his "insanity" and pressure him to study "real science"; his younger sister, Gaz, is eternally unsympathetic to him and often turns horribly violent if Dib, for example, takes her last piece of pizza or talks too much. One could say the Halloween episode "Halloween Spectacular of Spooky Doom" quite literally "put him through Hell." (In a twist, by the end of the episode he was the only character who wasn't injured).
** Zim. Like for Dib, he's regarded as being a freak by his classroom. Being a "FailureIsTheOnlyOption" show, you can imagine what happens to him a lot of times and... well, his leaders [[ReassignedToAntarctica sent him to Earth]] (not even knowing its existence) just to not see him anymore. And they gave him GIR. And now is regarded by them both like a pain and a joke. However, they ''do'' have their reasons -- with the odd exception of Earth, which Zim ''cannot'' destroy, Zim's presence on a planet tends to cause lots of destruction and death.
** Keef is an overly-friendly child who wants nothing more than to be friends with Zim and Dib, yet his attempts usually end with him being horribly hurt. However he is only significant in two episodes, one of which was unfinished and unaired. Iggins, who only appears in one episode, could also be called a Butt Monkey, though there is a reason for his admittedly over-the-top suffering (taking a video game that rightfully should have been Gaz's).
* ''WesternAnimation/JamesBondJr'': Trevor Noseworthy IV, who always tries to get the titular character into trouble, only to hilariously fail time and time again.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Jellystone}}'': Wally Gator has shown having a lot of bad luck everytime he appears.
%%* ''WesternAnimation/JibberJabber'': Jessica.
* ''WesternAnimation/JimmyTwoShoes'': The show relies a lot on slapstick humour and since it takes place in a cartoon version of {{Hell}}, this is a very prominent trope in the show.
** Samy Garvin. Though, what else do you expect of a YesMan to [[{{Satan}} Lucius Heinous VII]]?
** Lucius. But being an {{expy}} of [[TheDevilIsALoser Satan]], [[AssholeVictim he has it coming.]]
** Heloise, thanks to the second season having episodes like "Panda-monium", "What's Up With Heloise", "Heloise Schmeloise", and "Better Sweater".
** Jimmy and Beezy fall under this at times like in "Chez Beezy", "Meet the Gnomans" (both for Jimmy), "Carnival Lucius", and "Pet Rocky" (both for Beezy). Also when Heloise and Beezy are in the same scene, expect Heloise to do something nasty to him.
* ''WesternAnimation/JohnnyBravo'':
** Johnny is rejected by almost every woman he meets and is continuously victim of AmusingInjuries. His stupidity doesn't help.
** Carl when he's being beaten up by Johnny.
* ''WesternAnimation/JohnnyTest'': Dukey tends to be on the receiving end of any shenanigans Johnny gets into.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Kaeloo}}'': Stumpy the squirrel. He almost never wins, stuff always falls on his head, he gets struck by lightning, etc., and to make it all worse there's the others always making fun of him.
* ''WesternAnimation/KimPossible'':
** Ron gets no respect, villains never remember his name, gets ignored by everyone in favor of Kim. Of course he ends up dating Kim, so it's hard to feel bad for him.
** Dr. Drakken is driven out of university after being incessantly laughed at by his friends, constantly and vigorously mocked by his sidekick who is undeniably superior to him in just about every way, constantly and repeatedly beaten by Kim (who often takes little or no effort to do it), and occasionally reminded that Professor Dementor [[VillainCred has a more impressive reputation than him]] as a villainous MadScientist. Like Ron, he ends up with his female partner, so it does even out in a way.
%%* ''WesternAnimation/KingArthursDisasters'': Pick a male character. Anyone will do.
* ''WesternAnimation/KingOfTheHill'': Bill Dauterive is a divorcee, a loser, and a source of many, many jokes. Illustrated most poignantly in "Soldier of Misfortune," where the villain smacks him when ''Boomhauer'' mouths off. Made almost worse when he ''doesn't'' get a ''real'' happy ending in the GrandFinale. Either that or in "Unfortunate Son" where a running gag that has almost nothing to do with the main plot has Bill get [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsjwBjdPDSM repeatedly attacked by a falcon.]]
** Dale Gribble has his fair share of Butt Monkeying.
* ''WesternAnimation/LaLinea'': The entire premise of nearly every short is the main character, Mr. Linea, being tormented by his surroundings and even directly by the animator himself sometimes.
* ''WesternAnimation/LeagueOfSuperEvil'': Dr. Frogg. His inventions constantly backfire and/or hurt him, and he's constantly being attacked and/or eaten by the TeamPet, Doomageddon.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra'':
** Bolin has pretty much taken over where Sokka has left off. About 70% of the show's comedy revolves around Bolin either getting physically bashed in some manner or making awkward and/or ridiculous remarks in otherwise serious situations. On the plus side, he's compensated by being a badass [[DishingOutDirt Earthbender]] who can [[LetsGetDangerous seriously kick ass at the right time and place]]. And the other 30% you ask? That's Tenzin in regards to his children, specifically Ikki and Meelo.
** Mako gets hit with this hard in the later seasons. He gets a door airbent into his face, is getting tossed around by Korra during an airbender performance and is subject to general teasing in Season 3. Season 4 has him be the bodyguard of UpperClassTwit Prince Wu, which he is not happy about. Considering how Mako was TheScrappy for the first few seasons, his ButtMonkey status is one of the ways the writers are trying to save him from Scrappydom.
* ''WesternAnimation/LEGOStarWarsTheYodaChronicles'': Darth Vader suffers all kinds of humiliation.
* ''WesternAnimation/LetsGoLuna'': Mr. Hockbar is the workaholic BeleagueredAssistant who is made to take part in the absurd schemes of his insane boss. He is always suffering some kind of misfortune.
* ''WesternAnimation/LippyTheLionAndHardyHarHar'': Hardy the hyena often gets sucked into zany schemes of his lion friend Lippy and usually suffers from GuiltByAssociationGag. Hardy frequently crosses over into [[TheWoobie woobie]] territory due to his status as TheEeyore and the abuse he has to put up with and the fact that he can't laugh without hurting.
* ''Literature/LittlePrincess'': Poor Puss is clearly a cat that is not cut out for life with a Little Princess. Whether it's being drafted as a replacement for her favorite teddy bear or getting sneezed on when she has a cold, he can't catch a break. What potentially keeps him from descending into {{Woobie}} territory is that he seems to revel in any indignities that might happen to the show's dog, Scruff.
* ''WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes'':
** The team, particularly Creator/ChuckJones, liked to pit "winners" against "losers", which meant that many of the villains or antagonists (WesternAnimation/ElmerFudd, WesternAnimation/YosemiteSam, WesternAnimation/{{Sylvester|TheCatAndTweetyBird}}, and [[DependingOnTheWriter sometimes]] WesternAnimation/DaffyDuck) routinely got the stuffing kicked out of them on both a physical and personal level. However, the defining character of this trope is undeniably [[WesternAnimation/WileECoyoteAndTheRoadrunner Wile E. Coyote]], who has never once had a chance to be anything BUT a Butt Monkey. Jones always pointed out that what kept the humor from turning to tragedy was the fact that at any given time, any of the Butt-Monkey characters like Wile E. could walk away from the conflict unscathed. (Wile E. is never really in any danger of starving, so he doesn't ''need'' to catch/eat the Road Runner). Thus, Wile E. is bringing it on himself by not cutting his losses and giving up when it's clear to everyone that the world, and [[AnvilOnHead anvils]], have it in for him.
** WesternAnimation/PorkyPig falls under this once in a while, being the OnlySaneMan to most of the other characters' antics.
* ''WesternAnimation/LoonaticsUnleashed'': Fate seems especially cruel to Danger Duck. Tech E. Coyote has his fair share of misfortune as well.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheLoudHouse'': Lincoln is frequently on the receiving end of his sisters' antics, whether intentionally or unintentionally. The only other characters coming close to experiencing as much misfortune are his friend Clyde and his older siblings [[DumbBlonde Leni]] and [[BigBrotherBully Lori]].
* ''WesternAnimation/MiddlemostPost'': Angus tends to be the one to suffer when the MMP go on adventures.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheMightyB'': Bessie. The show's TerribleTrio ([[TheDragon Portia]], Gwen and [[TheNapoleon Penny]]) seem to [[NightmareFetishist enjoy seeing]] [[SadistShow her suffer]].
* ''WesternAnimation/MonkLittleDog'': The titular dog can never seem to catch a break.
* ''WesternAnimation/MrBogus'': Mr. Bogus is very often at the receiving end of comedic abuse that comes his way, despite being the main character. This is highly evident in the original Belgian-produced claymation shorts that the show itself was based on.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheMrMenShow'':
** As most adaptations, Mr. Bump is constantly being injured and kicked around.
** Many segments revolve around other characters annoying Mr. Grumpy, be it through bothering him with constant questions, walking into his house uninvited, or through interrupting his fishing program.
** This adaptation introduces a CanonForeigner, Little Miss Calamity, whose whole schtick is somehow getting into dangerous, over-the-top calamities.
* ''WesternAnimation/MyGymPartnersAMonkey'': Adam Lyon. Every time Jake Spidermonkey does one of his shenanigans, Adam is usually the poor sap who has to go along with it and gets in trouble for it.
** If anyone has it worse than Adam, then that would be Henry Armadillo. However, unlike Adam, he keeps a positive attitude all despite what he has to go through.
** James Ant has been crushed almost as many times as [[WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants Plankton]].
** Principal Pixiefrog has it rough in some episodes.
* ''WesternAnimation/MyLifeAsATeenageRobot'':
** Tuck Carbunkle for ''damn'' sure. Where to even ''begin'' with this poor boy? Throughout the whole show, he has been shunned, berated, belittled, mocked, infantilized, humiliated, ignored, and gone through just about every single form of physical pain and discomfort you can imagine — and a good chunk of all of it comes from his own so-called "friends": Brad, Jenny, and Sheldon, who typically see him as little more than an annoying pest. There are very few episodes where he’s not afraid, upset, or distressed about ''something'' at least ''once'', and not only is it for a good reason more often than not, but [[TheChewToy it's almost]] ''[[TheChewToy always]] ''[[TheChewToy played for laughs]]. With all the shit he goes through on a regular basis, it truly is a mystery how he manages to remain loyal to the teenage trio for three seasons straight and not completely ''lose'' it at any point.
** Jenny (XJ-9) is prone to this, as she's basically considered a freak by everyone but her friends and "mother" and almost nobody seems to give her any respect, despite having saved the world multiple times.
** Brad and Sheldon could be considered this, too, since they both are frequently called geeks and tend to be very unlucky in love.
* ''Franchise/MyLittlePony'':
** ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyAndFriends'': Crank, Squirk's lobster minion, is consistently the butt of physical jokes -- throughout his time on-screen, he gets constantly punched around by Squirk, hit by errant flash stone beams, used as a rope in a tug-'o-war for the stone...
** ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'': While the show isn't afraid to subject any of its characters to all manner of physical abuse in the name of comedy and emotional abuse in the name of personal growth, Spike is the one character who can't seem to catch a break. And if he ever starts to notice, watch out, because it means he's probably about to [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E24OwlsWellThatEndsWell dig]] [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E21DragonQuest himself]] [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E6PowerPonies even]] [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E24EquestriaGames deeper]]. Sometimes, it even happens in ways that aren't evident until you think about it and probably weren't intentional at all, like being mysteriously absent from Twilight Sparkle's birthday party, or not being invited to the Crystal Empire after becoming its savior and national hero (he's left behind so he can be deprived of his jewel cake, poor thing). But he gets a break in ''[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E24EquestriaGames The Equestria Games]]'', when he saves a lot ponies, but he still had to go through a G-Rated TraumaCongaLine first. Something of a subversion as of late, as Spike has finally begun to get better treatment in the show, with the flak being reduced severely in favor of actual decent plots and character development. It took until ''Season 6'' but he finally got a [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS6E5GauntletOfFire focus episode that didn't rely on slapstick]], and it was one of the best recieved episodes in the entire show's run, between it being genuinely well written and a large portion of the fans being sick to death of Spike's Butt Monkey status.
%% Please don't put anything related to fanworks or parodies here. We set up a separate place for those for a reason.
** The Cutie Mark Crusaders, while they didn't have it as bad as Spike, all had their moments of suffering as well. [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E12CallOfTheCutie Always being bullied by Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon for being blank flanks.]] [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E18TheShowStoppers Having all their plans to earn their cuties ultimately end in failure and humiliation.]] [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E23PonyvilleConfidential Being blackmailed by Diamond Tiara and shunned by the whole town, encluding the Mane Six, especially Rainbow Dash who drenches them with a rain cloud twice.]] Even after finally receiving their cutie marks and [[FireForgedFriends befriending Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon]], they were still had some moments, such as [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS8E12MarksForEffort getting blamed for something that wasn't their fault]] and [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS8E26SchoolRazePart2 were locked in a closet for an entire day while no creature even noticed they were missing.]]
* Numberblocks has Thirteen. Need we say more?
* ''WesternAnimation/TheOblongs'': Everyone living in the Valley. Helga and James get the absolute worse treatment though. Bob also doubles as a ChewToy. Remember when that gargoyle the Oblongs bought on Dump Day crushed him repeatedly every time he tries to put it on the roof of the house?
* ''WesternAnimation/OggyAndTheCockroaches'':
** Oggy is the biggest in the cartoon. In almost every episode he suffers some kind of misfortune, like being tricked by the cockroaches and being beaten by Bob.
** Oggy's cousin Jack. Not as frequently as Oggy, but when something happens to him it's usually nasty.
** Sometimes even the cockroaches get this, though less so than Oggy or Jack.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse'' has none other than [[SapientHouse Hooty]]. His tendency to butt into other people's business has backfired once or twice.
* Several appear in ''WesternAnimation/PAWPatrol''; one example is Rocky, who can never escape from getting sprayed with water.
* ''WesternAnimation/PetAlien'':
** Nothing goes right for Tommy Cadle. He suffers a ton of abuse through the aliens' misadventures (which he also [[TheScapegoat gets blamed for]]), is bullied by [[JerkJock Clinton]], bossed around by [[SpoiledBrat Melba Manners]], and has to deal with Gabby's [[AbhorrentAdmirer unwanted affections]].
** Dinko frequently takes comedic abuse. In "The Black Eye of Doom" alone, he gets his foot crushed by Melba, hit in the face with Clinton's football, punched by Cap'n Spangley, run over by Granville and repeatedly pecked by a seagull.
** Swanky frequently suffers comedic abuse as a result of the aliens' misadventures. Being a pretentious {{Jerkass}} who freely exploits them for his own gain, his suffering is well-deserved.
** Rarely does an episode go by without Granville [=DeSpray=] suffering at the hands of the aliens, Melba, or Clinton. There are even several episodes where Granville shows up solely to suffer slapstick, such as in "The Boy with Six Legs" where he only appears to slam into the lighthouse door (and promptly complained about how he's "[[BreakingTheFourthWall not even in this episode]]").
* ''WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb'':
** Candace. She gets trampled, attacked, lost, scared half to death, and, of course, can never ''ever'' get her brothers busted. Eventually, ''[[WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerbTheMovieCandaceAgainstTheUniverse Candace Against the Universe]]'' [[DeconstructedTrope would examine the concequences of this trope]], [[spoiler: with her showing complete and total exhaustion from [[CosmicPlaything the universe seemingly out to get her]] while her brothers always get to do what they want. In fact, this is primarily why she initially doesn't want to leave Feebla-Oot after seemingly finding a kindred spirit in Super Super Big Doctor.]]
** Dr. Doofenshmirtz, as [[HilariouslyAbusiveChildhood his parents weren't there when he was born]],[[note]]Which may not be entirely true, since his mother had to be there when he was born for obvious reasons, so Doof may be exaggerating a little here.[[/note]] he was forced to be a lawn gnome, and his brother is the favourite of his mother. However, this is all played for laughs since Doofenshmirtz is the bad guy (even though [[IneffectualSympatheticVillain he's more pathetic]] [[HilarityEnsues than evil]]).
** [[FunnyForeigner Baljeet]]. Just as an example, he apparently has to spend ''all'' of his allowance replacing wedgied underwear every single week.
* ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls1998'':
** Buttercup often suffers a fair amount of abuse compared to her sisters, with "Buttercrush" and "Cover Up" being two notable examples. She's also depicted as TheUnfavorite compared to Blossom and Bubbles.
** Mojo Jojo spends about 80 to 90% of his screen time getting humiliated, bruised, beaten badly and insulted for being an incompetent villain who can't tackle three super-powered mutants who resemble kindergartener girls.
%%** Both Blossom and Bubbles have had their fair share of torment in episodes like "A Very Special Blossom" for the former and "All Chalked Up" for the latter.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheProblemSolverz'': Roba. He's frequently made fun of by Alfe and Tux Dog, and endures ''a lot'' in many episodes.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheProudFamily'':
** Oscar Proud is a natural born loser: his own mother barely tolerates him, he constantly makes terrible decisions that turn badly for him, and every success the family makes, he is excluded from it.
** Penny Proud is second only to Oscar. She has friends who ditch her, her father embarrasses her and keeps her from dating, and is often in bad situations.
** Puff the Dog frequently gets injured in some way, usually by Bebe and Cece.
** The Chang Triplets and CampGay Michael have their fair share of this.
* ''WesternAnimation/ReadyJetGo'': Sean can't seem to ever catch a break. He's often the OnlySaneMan in the group, always trying to think logically and use the Scientific Method, and yet no one listens to him. He's also absolutely ''terrified'' of going into space, but everyone always forces him to go against his will. However, this is downplayed due to being a show for young children.
%%* ''WesternAnimation/{{Recess}}'': Gus Griswald.
* ''WesternAnimation/RegularShow'':
** Rigby is always getting punched, insulted, bullied by Mordecai (although Rigby often does bully Mordecai back), and subject to threats of getting fired by his loud-mouthed, bad-tempered {{Jerkass}} boss Benson. His perhaps worst day was when he got put on employment probation and got carried around like a baby by Muscle Man.
** Mordecai can also be forced to switch places with Rigby as the ButtMonkey at times. There's "It's Time" and "Do Me a Solid", when Mordecai tried dating Margaret, but Rigby just ''HAS'' to sabotage his date (or else there won't be much of a plot).
** Thomas is often picked on by people like Muscle Man.
* ''WesternAnimation/RickAndMorty'':
** [[Characters/RickAndMortyMortySmith Morty Smith]] is often the victim of his grandfather Rick's selfish shenanigans. Morty got both his legs broken in the first episode, is often pulled out of school by Rick, and is frequently exposed to dangerous and violent situations.
** [[Characters/RickAndMortyJerrySmith Jerry Smith]], Morty's father, gets it even worse, as even his own family jokes about how much of a loser he is. As he puts it:
--->'''Jerry''': Okay, I guess I'm just this entire family's toilet paper.
* ''WesternAnimation/RiseOfTheTeenageMutantNinjaTurtles'': [[HarmlessVillain Warren Stone]], a former news anchor who had the ''incredibly'' bad luck of mutating into a worm. He thinks of himself as the turtles' greatest foe, but they (and everyone else) [[UnknownRival have no idea who he is]], and he gets [[HalfTheManHeUsedToBe cut in half]] in all of his appearances.
* ''WesternAnimation/RocketPower'': Sam "The Squid" Dullard is the only member of the crew who is completely inept at skating, and when he does end up taking the risk, he sometimes gets injured as a result ("Womp Race 2000", "Losers Weepers"). In addition, he is usually mocked for his lack of skating skills by Otto and Twister, the latter of whom was a complete jerk to Sam following his introduction.
* ''WesternAnimation/RockosModernLife'': Rocko gets a fair bit of it, but Ed Bighead even more so, but [[{{Jerkass}} most of the time he deserves it]].
** Filburt is one too. A lot of things make him nauseous, and his bad luck became a plot point in "Fortune Cookie" where he was told that "bad luck and extreme misfortune will manifest your pathetic soul for all eternity". And it does.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}}'':
** Angelica, despite being the antagonist, gets her comeuppance a lot (eg: sitting in time out and pizza falling on her hair, causing her to cry as she hates the stress of having her hair washed), but sometimes, she can be the show's butt monkey, even when she isn't the antagonist.
** Chuckie is very often this, due to his lack of confidence, though not to Angelica's extent.
** Out of the adults, Stu fits this trope best. The poor guy has no job making him cash-trapped and has to rely on his wife to be the breadwinner. He also often gets taken advantage of by his SpoiledBrat niece Angelica, who famously even forced him against his will to cook chocolate pudding at 4 in the morning (this has become an Internet meme), and he is constantly mocked by all the other adults (his brother Drew being the biggest offender) for his inventions.
* ''WesternAnimation/SamuraiJack'':
** Despite being the main character, Jack himself becomes a butt monkey in comedic episodes like "Jack's Sandals," "Chicken Jack," and "Jack Is Naked" when he's the brunt of humiliation and various mishaps.
** Scaramouche in the fifth season when he's reduced to his head and goes through AmusingInjuries to reach Aku and inform him that [[spoiler: Jack lost his sword]].
%%* ''WesternAnimation/ScaredySquirrel''
* ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDoo'': Shaggy is the victim of practically every unfortunate occurence in the series, from Fred's insane plans to simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time. More than one instance sees him as literal live bait (though usually when the plans fail Danger-Prone Daphne is the unfortunate sap caught in the crossfire).
* ''WesternAnimation/SheRaAndThePrincessesOfPower'': Kyle. Even in a LotusEaterMachine where everyone's life is supposed to be perfect enough to keep them from poking at the edges, he's the one who's getting dumped on. When the Horde loses a fortress in "Roll With It", the others vote unanimously to blame him.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Sidekick}}'': Eric Needles is always troubled by [[SadistTeacher Professor Pamplemoose]] and [[TheBully Vanna Glama]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'' is a ''huge'' universe of this, so expect it to have a lot of examples:
** The writers never seem to run out of new afflictions to plague Milhouse with. Perhaps the greatest insult to Milhouse comes from behind the scenes. In the movie's DVD commentary, the writers stated that originally Milhouse was going to be portrayed as "finally getting a break" with Lisa, even [[TookALevelInBadass getting to the point]] where he would help save Lisa and the rest from the angry mob and generally being all around useful in the second half. However, due to fear that Milhouse' long, long-time infatuation with Lisa would go over viewers' heads, this story was toned down and Milhouse was replaced with Colin, now making the subplot seem tacked on.
** Lisa is shown to get bullied a lot in some episodes like "Home Sweet Homediddly-Dum-Doodily", "Bye Bye Nerdie" and "Sleeping with The Enemy".
** Hans Moleman, [[TheyKilledKennyAgain who gets killed many episodes]].
** From about Seasons 9/10 onwards, Moe and Kirk van Houten become two of the major Butt Monkeys of the show.
** Homer himself has his moments of {{Butt Monkey}}ing, to the point where he's pretty much up there with Meg and Squidward Tentacles. From his frequent injuries (which reached the point that the ''Behind the Music'' parody stated that Homer became addicted to painkillers due to said injuries), humiliating situations (such as losing his clothing, getting covered in mud, running into other campers which led to him being chased and captured, and being examined by scientists because they thought he was '''Big Foot''') and general bad luck and mistreatment. Granted [[LaserGuidedKarma he often deserves it]]. Many of the couch gags end with him killed, maimed, or humiliated.
--->''(family sits on the couch)''\
'''Lisa:''' ''(looks at the camera)'' What? Can't we just sit on the couch with anything weird happening?\
'''Homer:''' ''(hit by a spear)'' Do'h!
** Frank Grimes. Right to the grave.
** Perhaps the most notable recurring example is that of Gil, a character whose only reason to exist is to fail at everything he does.
** From the ShowWithinAShow we have Scratchy of ''Itchy And Scratchy'', the perfectly amiable and good-natured cat whose sole reason for existing is to be the perpetual victim of the psychopathic, needlessly malevolent whims of the brutal mouse Itchy.
** Sideshow Bob becomes the family's (Bart's in particular) ButtMonkey in "Great Louse Detective".
--> '''Bart''': I don't know how we ever had fun without him.
** Bart has his moments as the Butt Monkey. He often gets strangled by his father, nearly killed by Sideshow Bob for 20+ years, was almost killed by Mr. Burns twice (Burns ran him over with his car in one episode, and later, locked him in a safe and sunk him to the bottom of the lake), and has been subject to really hurtful shamings by the whole town (as seen in "Bart's Girlfriend," "Miracle on Evergreen Terrace," and the notorious "The Boys of Bummer." "The Telltale Head" is a gray area. On the one hand, you have the entire town going after Bart for decapitating the Jebediah Springfield statue. On the other hand, Bart apologized for what he did and, in a TV-exclusive scene, shamed by mob for losing their way as Springfield citizens).
** Ray Pattinson qualifies for this. When he tries to be civil with Homer and not be a [[spoiler:dick]] to him, Homer does the opposite to hi and runs for Sanitation Commissionior. He gets mocked by Homer and the townspeople during the election. To add insult to injury, Homer slashes Ray's car tires and add lies about him, such as "luring children inside his gingerbread house". Homer [[spoiler:wins]] the election and in a few months, [[spoiler:the town gets destroyed with garbage]]. Homer gets fired and the town begs Ray to come back. Ray appears and refuses the offer and leaves. So Ray does
** Bumblebee Man, in-universe on his own show, exists for this purpose.
** Not even [[FieryRedhead Groundskeeper Willie]] is safe from this trope. "Lisa's Date with Destiny" and "Treehouse of Horror V" are particular examples, with a RunningGag in the latter involving him getting killed in all three segments.
* ''WesternAnimation/SkullIsland2023'': The [[Characters/MonsterVerseSkullIslandExpedition blonde mercenary]]. He's kind of a goof and complainer, and things seldom go right for him. He gets tossed aside by Dog while his back is turned, breaking his arm, and is the only mercenary to be injured in this instance. [[spoiler:In a darker turn, at the end of Episode 6, he's grabbed from the mercs' camp by the Kraken, which [[{{Sadist}} viciously]] tosses him around above the ocean before it sends him to a watery grave]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TheSmurfs1981'':
** Gargamel suffers this along with his cat Azrael. Justified because they are the villains. All Gargamel's plans are always dooomed to fail.
** Brainy is often kicked out of the village as a RunningGag.
* ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'':
** Coconuts from ''WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfSonicTheHedgehog'' ([[DontExplainTheJoke who actually ''is'' a monkey]]). He appears the least out of the Badnik Trio, and when he ''does'' appear, he's always defeated by Sonic, whereafter Robotnik demotes him to janitor duty. His catchphrase is even, "I hate (insert noun here)! Hate it, hate it, hate it, '''HATE IT!!!'''"
** The idiotic robot Butt Monkey duo, Scratch and Grounder, has suffered a lot throughout the show. Most of their plans on capturing Sonic backfire, Robotnik keeps calling them names or just [[BadBoss kicks their asses himself for incompetence]], and they often get hurt so badly that they fall apart.
** In ''WesternAnimation/SonicTheHedgehogSatAM'', Antoine was the usual butt of Sonic's jokes, constantly reprimanded, and only [[ObliviousYoungerSibling Tails]] ever listened to his stories. Then came the episode "Ro-Becca", which was an ''entire episode'' dedicated to having him get injured or humiliated in [[AmusingInjuries hilarious, cartoonish, and slapstick-y]] ways.
* ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'':
** Butters is a naive, wide-eyed, sweet-hearted little boy who Matt and Trey exhaust their imaginations thinking of new torments to inflict upon, including beatings, attempted murder by his mother, a ninja star in the eye (which was ignored in favor of everyone being outraged over Cartman being naked in public), etc. The character he has effectively replaced, Kenny, was also a prime example of a Butt Monkey.
** Pip, the little British kid from the earlier seasons was the resident Butt Monkey before he was phased out of the show. He was so unpopular that one episode had the other school kids see who could spit on him the most while another episode had Cartman make fun of him because his parents are dead. Like Butters, he had a polite and pleasant disposition and generally took all the abuse with good nature. In fact, Pip seemed to be aware of his status as the Butt Monkey, as he told Damien that the other kids stopped picking on Cartman once Cartman started picking on him (which gives Damien the idea to start abusing Pip to get the other kids to like him). WordOfGod says that Pip stopped appearing because Butters worked better as an example of this trope.
** Cartman, as he's the character that the other boys make fun of the most. ("Wow, this place is huge!" "Yeah, it's almost as big as Cartman's ass!") The pilot episode is literally about things going into and coming out of Cartman's ass. He's still a ButtMonkey in later seasons but [[LaserGuidedKarma he actually deserve all the bad stuff that happened to him]].
** Kenny used to be the show's resident Chew Toy/Butt Monkey. In much earlier seasons he dies at the end of nearly every episode. It's {{lampshade|Hanging}}d in the Thanksgiving short with Creator/JayLeno making a guest appearance. Not only was Kenny dying every episode, but he and his family were constantly mocked by the other characters because they were so poor. It was mostly Cartman who joked about it, but the others would always laugh along.
** Kyle has had his moments, mostly having to do with being the center of Cartman's torment around him being a Jew. Newer episodes have this played more frequently -- with Kyle getting his mouth sewn to an Asian man's butthole in Humancentipad, being repeatedly humiliated and farted on by Cartman in Ginger cow, as well as getting hazed brutally in Stunning and Brave.
** Stan is not spared of frequent, strong abuse either. [[BigBrotherBully Shelly]] would constantly beat him up in the earlier episodes from Season 1 and throughout the whole episode "Over Logging", and has been put to blame even when it wasn't his fault in the episodes Stanley's Cup and Butterballs. This is PlayedForDrama in You're Getting Old/Assburgers. Even so, his mother Sharon will abuse him every now and then. Sharon's abuse towards Stan was most prominent in Season 2. She contaminated Stan with chickenpox on purpose (and failed to contain her excitement for Stan to be oblivious to) in the episode "Chickenpox" and she threw a violent verbal tantrum at Stan for his gender because she just fought with her husband (Randy) and is in a mood of misandry, at the time Stan just wanted to get a cookie in the episode "Clubhouses". Many episodes completely focused on Stan being a helpless victim of bullying or other forms of biased aggression including "Asspen", "Go God Go", "Stanley's Cup", "You've Got 0 Friends", and "Douche and Turd". He's been spit on, capped a Dunce Cap, taken a bullet in the shoulder, had his bike confiscated and the list goes on and on.
** Leslie, a female 4th grader who debuted in Season 19 [[spoiler:(who is actually an ad in human form)]], is the most frequent target of PC Principal's wrath, always screaming at her to shut up whether she's whispering to her friend or if she's actually quiet. PC Principal even resorted to call the police to take Leslie out of a school assembly for talking (which she didn't do) in "Naughty Ninjas".
** Clyde in some episodes, such as "Cartman's Silly Hate Crime 2000".
** Scott Malkinson is also a prime example of this, being a [[YouthfulFreckles freckle-faced kid]] [[SpeechImpediment with a lisp]] and diabetes, which makes him, according to most of the kids, [[TheFriendNobodyLikes a loser who barely anyone wants to hang out with]]. Most of the episodes Scott Malkinson are featured in involve him suffering one way or another, such as his debut episode, "Elementary School Musical", then there's "Going Native", where he was mentioned to have been beaten up by [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness Butters]], and the Black Friday trilogy, where he and Butters visit George R. R. Martin to ask for his help with the Black Friday sale at the mall, and he just talks about how much Game of Thrones shows off people's wieners constantly, much to their disgust. Poor Scott Malkinson is even starving to death all the while without anything to eat and ease his diabetes.
-->'''Scott Malkinson''': What's so bad about hanging out with me?
* Everyone in the cast of ''WesternAnimation/SpaceGoofs'' is a Butt-Monkey, but the special mention goes to Candy.
* ''WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants'':
** Alongside [[WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy Meg]] and [[WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons Homer Simpson]], Squidward Tentacles is easily one of the most infamous ones in cartoon history. The worst things tend to happen to him, including but not limited to being: shot out of a cannon, doused with gas and set on fire by the Krusty Krab's security system... ''twice'', squished by a boulder, stung mercilessly by jellyfish, stampeded by a crowd, repeatedly attacked by a sea bear, zapped multiple times by the Flying Dutchman, skinned alive, cut in half with a giant pair of scissors from nowhere, gruesomely separated from the toenail he suddenly has, and blown up by various means on numerous occasions. He seems generally hated by everyone in Bikini Bottom, including inanimate objects and the universe -- in "My Pretty Seahorse", Squidward willfully ignores [=SpongeBob=]'s baiting, telling himself 'don't say anything, Squidward, remember your karma'. Karma's response? The front wheel breaks off Squidward's bicycle for no apparent reason causing him to fly off the seat, fall down a cliff, and ''explode'' [[https://youtu.be/0waJjf-ki34?t=3]]. The only people who ''do'' like him are his mindless next-door neighbors on each side who persistently bother him when he repeatedly insists that they don't, making them the source of much of his suffering. Only five episodes ("Band Geeks", "Suction Cup Symphony" ,"Love That Squid", "Enchanted Tiki Dreams", and "House Fancy") have ever truly ended up in his favor -- and even then, "Band Geeks" saw him constantly humiliated and nearly impaled and "House Fancy" included the notorious toenail incident.
--->Squidward: "Why must [[LeaningOnTheFourthWall every eleven minutes of my life]] be filled with misery?! '''[[BigWhy Why?!]]'''"
--->[=SpongeBob=]: "Oh cheer up, Squid. It could be worse."
--->Patrick: "Yeah, [[FalseReassurance you could be bald]] [[ItsBeenDone and have a big nose]]."
** [=SpongeBob=] also has his moments of abuse and bad luck. Don't believe it, watch "Scaredy Pants", "The Chaperone", "Jellyfish Jam", "Rock Bottom", "Fools in April", "Grandma's Kisses", "Gary Takes a Bath", "Missing Identity", "Pre-Hibernation Week", "The Sponge Who Could Fly" and "Can You Spare a Dime?". In the last one, he gets forced to put on a maid's uniform and serve lemonade to Squidward in his ''own'' pineapple home.
** Plankton who's had just as bad luck as Squidward in his many meager attempts to find out the secret behind a Krabby Patty. He runs virtually no business at his restaurant, The Chum Bucket, because the food is horrendous.
** Patchy the Pirate gets this almost all the time. It's usually Potty who abuses him.
** Mrs. Puff, Mermaid Man, and Barnacle Boy as a result of [=SpongeBob=] and Patrick not understanding what ''leave me alone'' means.
** The health inspector from the episode "Nasty Patty" gets knocked out unconscious and suffers many mishaps that knocks him back into a coma. Granted, [=SpongeBob=] and Mr. Krabs thought he was a fake after hearing a news report only for a subsequent one (that came a little too late) confirmed him to be a real one.
* ''WesternAnimation/SquirrelBoy'': Andy's dad Bob Johnson due to Rodney's shenanigans mixed with his own bad luck. Unsurprisingly, he hates his son's friendship with Rodney.
* ''WesternAnimation/StarVsTheForcesOfEvil'': Marco Diaz occasionally will deal with this, but never with malicious intent, and most often because of Star's inept ability to use magic. King River, Ludo and Ponyhead also deal with this. Fergueson and Alfonso as well when they appeared in Season 1.
* ''WesternAnimation/StarTrekLowerDecks'': Every member of the main cast gets this at moments, but none more so than Ensign Bradward "Brad" Boimler. If someone's going to lose his clothes, or get stabbed in an inconvenient place, or receive an interstellar parasite, it's almost certainly going to be Boimler.
* ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars'': The Separatist Battle Droids mostly serve the purpose of being comic relief and being incredibly stupid.
* ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels'':
** Lieutenant Lyste is this in all of his appearances after Season 1. In [[Recap/StarWarsRebelsS2E10APrincessOnLothal "A Princess on Lothal"]], he gets played like an instrument by Princess Leia. [[Recap/StarWarsRebelsS3E15ThroughImperialEyes "Through Imperial Eyes"]] continues it, but this time PlayedForDrama -- [[spoiler:[[TheMole Kallus]] manipulates him into spying on Pryce, and [[FrameUp sets him up as being Fulcrum]], leading to his arrest. And even though Thrawn, at the end of the episode, reveals that he knows Kallus is Fulcrum, Lyste doesn't look to be getting out of jail, because Thrawn wants Kallus to think his ploy succeeded.]]
** The first half of Season 3 sees Admiral Konstantine being put in this role, PlayedForDrama. He doesn't grasp Thrawn's strategies, and is the subject of [[StealthInsult stealth insults]] from Governor Pryce. The episode [[Recap/StarWarsRebelsS3E06IronSquadron "Iron Squadron"]] brings it to its height. [[spoiler:And then he's killed in the attack on Atollon.]]
** Every time Brom Titus appears, whatever he's commanding gets destroyed. First an Imperial Interdictor, then a scrapyard, and finally a light cruiser. [[spoiler:He [[GoingDownWithTheShip goes down with]] [[RuleOfThree that last one]].]]
* ''WesternAnimation/StickinAround'': Bradley is constantly bullied and wedgied by Russell and Lance while his "friend" Stacy either [[WithFriendsLikeThese shows no symphathy or joins in on the torment]]. In the series finale, when he reveals that he's moving to another house in the neighborhood, a big statue of him being wedgied is erected.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Superjail}}'':
** Jared, especially when he's seriously injured. The guy just can't catch a break from anyone, be it his fellow staff members, his boss, or the inmates. Whenever it looks like things will look up for him, NegativeContinuity applies and he goes back to being miserable, either that or [[YankTheDogsChain there will be actual in-story events or reasoning to undo any bone thrown at him]].
** Ash is a lesser example in Seasons 2 and 3. He gets bullied and mocked by the other inmates, especially Nicky, for his childish fears or (in the Season 3 finale) poor communication leading to them believing he was going to betray them all.
** [[CreepyTwins The TWINS]] get a moment of being the Butt Monkeys now and then in the show. In "Time Police, Part 2", they foolishly accept a porn director's invitation to go "take test shots", then wind up locked in his van and presumably raped (they're later shown to be traumatized and with their clothes ripped up, and only tell Jared "We don't want to talk about it"). In "The Trouble with Triples", the entire episode is spent with them being the butt monkeys to their elder brothers (The Triplets) and winding up with their luck worsening in all sorts of ways to the point where they're forcibly taken home and physically tortured to "study" to become overlords. [[LaserGuidedKarma Of course, it could have all been avoided if they didn't lie to their brothers]].
* ''WesternAnimation/SuperNoobs'':
** Kevin Reynolds as he constantly makes terrible decisions, is hated by his gym coach, gets a huge share of being beaten up by multiple virus monsters, and falls victim to a lot of malfunctions in his battle ball while transforming into the wrong animal a lot.
** Memnock and Zenblock. They mistakenly recruit inexperienced children, are forced to live in Earth in a small and uncomfortable house, and are on the receiving end for any irresponsible shenanigans the Noob get into. Their experiences included being MistakenForGay by a couple who just moved into the neighborhood, falling victim to a swink eye epidemic, being ticketed as a result of being framed by the Noobs for speeding in space as well as their ship being ruined. They also lost their armor briefs to alien goats, and even got crushed by their own spaceship, which they survived without any injuries.
** Basically everyone in this series is a butt monkey to some extent.
* ''WesternAnimation/TakAndThePowerOfJuju'': Tak, saving the fact that's he's troubled by [[BadBoss Chief]] and [[TheBully Lok]]. Both the Chief and Lok would also count.
* ''WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2012'':
** Raphael. Donatello is also getting shades of this -- to the point where fellow nerd Leo gets on his case about TechnoBabble, and Michelangelo takes literal ''and'' figurative swings at him in a decidedly non-AnnoyingYoungerSibling way. That's not even mentioning the out-of-the-blue insults and general smacking around by [[DestroyingAPunchingBag Raphael]].
** From the villains' side, there's [[EvilGenius Baxter Stockman]]. Who, despite his vast intellect, never receives any recognition for it and is generally treated as a figurative punching bag.
* ''WesternAnimation/TennesseeTuxedoAndHisTales'':
** Tennessee Tuxedo is usually this. Most of his schemes end up epic failures, with Tennessee Tuxedo being punished at the end by the zoo director, Stanley Livingston.
** Stanley Livingston himself is the butt of Tennesse's schemes.
** Klondike Kat often falls for Savior Faire's tricks while chasing after him, though usually at the end, he does get his mouse.
** Tooter Turtle keeps asking Lizard Wizard for a new job, but things always turn out bad for him.
** Colonel Kit Coyote from ''Go-Go Gophers'' keeps failing to get the gophers, and falls for their tricks at least OncePerEpisode.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheTick'': Arthur's frequently kidnapped or screaming. Being that he's the only normal guy in the hero business where everyone else is either a SuperHero or BadassNormal, it's sort of inevitable. The best he gets off with is just being exasperated by the Tick's antics.
* ''WesternAnimation/TimeSquad'': Larry 3000 is a CampGay robot, who is constantly berated and ridiculed by Tuddrussel for his "sissy" behavior and interests and in some episodes, his body gets dismantled, and he once accidentally downgraded himself, causing him to act like a stereotypical robot.
* ''WesternAnimation/TimonAndPumbaa'': Timon, though a lot of what Timon goes through is karmic retribution for some recent act of {{Jerkass}}ery, usually by being overly rude, selfish, or proud. When using his powers for good, he generally ends up okay.
* ''WesternAnimation/TinyToonAdventures'': Plucky is the biggest one, followed by Furrball (called "unlucky" in the intro) and, to a lesser extent, Hamton.
* ''WesternAnimation/TomAndJerry'': Tom. Sometimes this will catch up to Jerry, too (Most notably when Tom gets his revenge on him).
* ''WesternAnimation/TomGoesToTheMayor'': Tom Peters. His wife is hateful and grotesque, he can't connect to his step-sons on any level, he's an utter failure as an entrepreneur, and his every plan is doomed to failure merely by his association. When other characters are in a position to help him they never do. While it seems that Tom meets the mayor for the first time in every episode due to NegativeContinuity, it's also hinted that Tom is so tragically insignificant that the mayor simply forgets who Tom is. The sole instance Tom was actually successful he turned into a complete {{Jerkass}}.
* Toonerville Trolley cartoons: Mr. Bang. He's always on the receiving end of others antics!
* ''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama'' is a show that thrives on AmusingInjuries so everybody is a butt monkey at some point (even Chris). The biggest and most consistent examples however would have to be Justin, Cody, Noah, Trent, Duncan, Harold, Owen, Tyler, Ezekiel, Sam, Brick, Scott, Dave, and Max. Some of them have been chucked off cliffs, hit in the groin ''hundreds'' of times, electrocuted by eels, and crushed by Owen ''countless'' times, along with many other painful injuries that would kill or permanently incapacitate a normal person!
* ''WesternAnimation/TotalDramaPresentsTheRidonculousRace'' is significantly toned down due to the host not being a sadist this time, but everyone still has their moments here and there (including Don himself). The biggest examples however are probably Devin, Dwayne, Brody, Jacques, the Adversity Twins, the Stepbrothers, and the Vegans.
* ''WesternAnimation/TotalDramaRama'':
** Poor Chef Hatchet goes through hell in every episode as he tries to take care of hyperactive, troublemaking, preschool-aged versions of the teenage contestants.
** Cody counts too, having it far worse (even moreso than his teenage self). In every appearance, he gets hurt in some way and often for no reason; in fact, he's even ''died'' in a few episodes, with the characters being totally nonchalant to it.
* ''WesternAnimation/TotallySpies'': A good idea for a drinking game. If you happen to be watching a ''Totally Spies!'' marathon or are watching the show on DVD, take a drink every time something bad happens to Clover. You won't be sober for long. There are some occasions where Sam or Alex gets this end of the stick, though.
* Several ''Franchise/{{Transformers}}'' animated series has several examples;
** Optimus Prime in ''WesternAnimation/TransformersAnimated'' has always getting bullied by {{Jerkass}} Sentinel Prime. Optimus is often shamed for having failed to save Elita-One and therefore washed out of Autobot Academy by Ultra Magnus. Sentinel thrives on Optimus's past failures and keeps insulting that Optimus never will amount to anything while he himself is a golden medal winner. If you get annoyed by Sentinel, just wait five minutes and ''something'' nasty will happen to him. Usually it's related to Earth's weather/inhabitants/road structure, but he's also [[GrandTheftMe had his body stolen by a human]], been humiliated in front of his comrades, screamed like a little girl when encountering organics, failed at driving in the rain, and been wrong in pretty much every arrogant assertion he's made.
** From Season 2 onward, Starscream becomes a Butt Monkey. It starts with the infamous [[Funny/WesternAnimation "Starscream Death Montage"]] with Megatron killing him over and over again (with the [=AllSpark=] fragment on his head being the only thing keeping him alive). All of his plans always fail and in the finale in which may be the most extreme Moment of Butt Monkery, his clones (with one heavily implied to represent his self-loathing) betray him for Megatron. He spends the majority of Season 3 as a disembodied head trapped with Megatron aboard Omega Supreme, and just when he fnally gets a new body, [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness Megatron blasts him (He recovers).]] And in the finale, The [=AllSpark=] fragment that was keeping him alive is pulled out, thus killing him. And if you count the comic adaptation, he gets humiliated and blackmailed by Professor Princess. One can't help but feel a bit sorry for him.
** According to [[WordOfDante supplementary]] material, Beachcomber.
** Skyfire from the original series, an 'old friend' of Starscream's who is revived and used by the Decepticons, and then seems to heroically sacrifice himself to save the Autobots. Only a sequel episode shows that he didn't actually die, but was buried in some ice to the extent where it took the Autobots seconds to dig him back up, they just didn't bother until they needed him to fly somewhere. In that episode, he befriends Thundercracker for all of about thirty seconds, until the Decepticons shoot him. He's then routinely ignored by the other Autobots unless they need carting around the world, and forgotten about entirely when the Aerialbots arrive towards the end of the second series.
** Waspinator is by '''far''' the biggest example in ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'', though Scorponok and Terrorsaur almost had it as bad early on.
** Terrorsaur and Scorponok were co-Butt Monkeys before they met their fate at the start of Season 2, then Waspinator became the sole Butt Monkey (Inferno has been picked on a bit as well).
** Rattrap becomes kind of a Butt Monkey in ''WesternAnimation/BeastMachines'', at the beginning. In ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'' he was considered slightly obnoxious but otherwise a valuable robot to have on your side. Then along comes ''Beast Machines'' and the only thing standing between Rattrap and getting thrown off a cliff is Optimus. When Optimus gets put out of commission temporarily, everyone gets downright hostile, even after he learns to transform again, because he doesn't offer anything in the way of firepower (Cheetor even says they're only keeping him around because he sits on the outside fringes of being "one of us", and therefore they're not ditching him). Then they're ''surprised'' when he turns to Megatron for a little sympathy and weaponry.
** From the ''Transformers'' verse are [[Anime/TransformersCybertron Ransack and Crumplezone]], a [[Anime/PokemonTheSeries Team Rocket]]-like duo. Ransack perhaps more so than his partner. Quoth Crumplezone:
--->"When he [Optimus] sees our real strength and ''feels'' our ''vengeance,'' he'll ''regret'' beating us over and over and over and..."
** From the same series as these two, Thundercracker. Dear Primus, Thundercracker. Having [[BadBoss the worst boss ever]] doesn't help. He gets lit on fire by Scourge ''twice''. ([[AmusingInjuries "Would somebody ]]''[[AmusingInjuries please ]]''[[AmusingInjuries put me out?"]]) At the end, after Ransack, Crumplezone, and Thunderblast go back on their {{Heel Face Turn}}s and sneak off in a homemade rocket, poor Thundercracker gets shanghaied aboard when goes to investigate. The Hasbro version of his toy's mold was a major-league example of quality-control failure. (PRIMUS DAMNIT HASBRO!)
%%** Tutor Bot, as well.
* ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime'':
** Starscream getting abused, tortured, or threatened by Megatron every time he disobeys him. But overall, nobody on the show likes him. He gets beaten up by the other Decepticons on a constant basis.
** Silas gets his just desserts towards the end of the show [[spoiler: when he has now been imprisoned by the Decepticons and chained up as a lab rat for painful science experiments]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TUFFPuppy'': Larry never gets a break from Snaptrap blasting him or sending him into the shark tank. In fact, everyone in the series are all this, including Dudley, Kitty, Keswick, the Chief, and even Snaptrap.
%%* ''WesternAnimation/{{Tutenstein}}'': Luxor, the ServileSnarker.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Unikitty}}'':
** Unikitty suffers a lot of humiliating injuries such as getting forced to literally carry people on her back like a horse, getting tortured with painful science experiments by Dr. Fox, and being used as a paddleball.
** Richard gets no respect from his friends, but half the time it's karma for being too pessimistic.
* ''WesternAnimation/VeggieTales'':
** Mr. Lunt is often cast as the villain's sidekick, and occasionally as an incompetent villain himself. When cast in a positive role, Mr. Lunt is infallibly the Butt Monkey. On at least two occasions he cross-dresses, once portrayed Gollum (Middle-Earth's butt monkey), and once lamented the fact that his entire life only included one half hour of happiness. The only story in which Mr. Lunt has ''not'' been the Butt Monkey was in the Don Quixote story.
** Bob the Tomato regularly gets the short end of the stick in many episodes featuring him. A notable example is in ''Madame Blueberry'' where upon [[ItMakesSenseInContext pressing a button to speed up his shopping cart]], pizza coupons are dispensed. Bob's [[AsideGlance reaction]] is priceless.
** While spared compared to the rest of the cast, Larry still suffers a bit, getting his head stuck in a kitchen sink throughout an entire episode, getting chased by an angry bear, injuring himself whenever he's Larry Boy, getting caught in a bear trap on one of his Silly Songs, getting laughed at by the kids for playing a tuba for the show's intro and often getting called a pickle despite being a cucumber.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheVentureBros'': Everyone is a loser, more or less, but Billy Quizboy is the true Butt Monkey. Everybody treats him like crap and mocks his pathetic attempts to exaggerate his own abilities. "The Invisible Hand of Fate" [[PlayedForDrama plays it a bit more seriously]] and makes him TheWoobie, if only for one episode.
* ''WesternAnimation/WallaceAndGromit'': The former often gets hurt because of how absent-minded that he is while the latter often gets hurt by how his master is really TooDumbToLive.
* ''WesternAnimation/WinxClub'': Mirta, mostly in the first season. Her best friend is constantly tearing her apart for not wanting to fit in and be a bitch like the Trix. She's the only attempted homicide in the first season (and there are a lot) that can't possibly be explained as anything vaguely related to the Trix's master plan or taking out the Winx; Darcy tries to suffocate her with a blob of goo because Mirta disagrees with her about how she feels about fairies. When she finally does try to do something good, she gets turned into a pumpkin BECAUSE SHE HAS ONE ON THE FRONT OF HER SHIRT [[spoiler: though considering that the Trix tried to send several people to Hell, drown Bloom, and feed the other four Winx to a giant tornado all around that time, she should probably consider herself relatively lucky on that count]]. Flora decides to try and undo the curse, which is fortunate because none of the teachers seem to give a rat's ass whether or not she ever gets better; considering that one of them [[spoiler: Wizgiz]] teaches Alfea students how to control their shapeshifting powers, this seems pretty cold. Flora keeps her in the room she shares with Bloom and her pet stomach-with-legs Kiku, who's been known to nibble on Flora's plants from time to time. And it's not like she can't tell Kiku's sniffing around her, because she's been shown to be able to perceive her surroundings from time to time. It's not until she speaks for the only time for most of her time there that she gets moved to the greenhouse, and that's probably got more to do with the fact that she's seen Flora and Bloom naked and it creeps them out. While she does get restored to human form in the end of the season, the Winx seem to forget about her unless they need to go to Cloud Tower for something; seeing as Musa, Tecna, and Stella still owe her a life debt, it seems a little harsh. She's last seen in Season 5 as the only person from the last three years at Alfea who's still there, and not in a teaching position like the Wins; apparently she hasn't come close to gaining an Enchantix, or no one has let her try.
* ''WesternAnimation/WanderOverYonder'':
** In the episode ''The Big Job'', Wander himself is portrayed as this since the crackpot team that recruited Sylvia [[BitchInSheepsClothing don't actually like him and are annoyed by him]].
** ''Lord Hater''. He just gets constantly driven up the wall by Wander's cheery, happy-go-lucky attitude, which is largely deserved since he's a GalacticConqueror PsychopathicManchild.
** Commander Peepers, due to him being a [[OnlySaneMan sole island of sanity]] with such a [[ManChild childish]] boss and such an incompetent army.
** Sylvia, particularly in episodes like "The Egg", "The Hat" and "The Lonely Planet".
* ''WesternAnimation/WeBareBears'': Panda gets the most misfortune and humiliation out of the three bears. Grizzly often gets it too, but he's usually much more cheerful about it.
** Ice Bear in the episode "Emergency." He gets a crab stuck on his ear, and ends up getting lost from his brother's attempts to take him to have it removed.
** Later episodes with Nom Nom often have him getting into trouble, with Grizz (and the other bears if they are present) having to save him, to his embarrassment.
* ''WesternAnimation/WoodyWoodpecker'': Wally Walrus would more often than not wind up as this, with him being at the mercy of Woody Woodpecker's antics. Some of the production team felt Wally was too sympathetic because of this, so he was eventually replaced with more unscrupulous foes like Buzz Buzzard.
* ''WesternAnimation/WorkItOutWombats'': Mr. E suffers a lot of comical mishaps, like how he kept dropping his books in "The Mighty Zeke."
* ''WesternAnimation/WorldOfQuest'': Prince Nestor always seems to have something slimy and gross cover him ''multiple times'' in an episode. The rivalry he and Quest have is pretty one-sided, as Quest is big and muscular and, well, an adult, therefore usually always prevailing over poor Nestor.
* ''WesternAnimation/XavierRiddleAndTheSecretMuseum'': Brad. He always gets dizzy while time traveling, and doesn't want to go back in time yet is always dragged along. Not to mention that in "I Am Susan B. Anthony", Xavier and Yadina wouldn't let him have a say on what should go where in the Secret Museum, and in "I Am Alexander Graham Bell", he loses his voice and Xavier and Yadina do all the talking for him instead of listening to him.
* ''WesternAnimation/XiaolinShowdown'': Jack Spicer is constantly abused by anyone regardless of what side they're on. He had a few alliances with other villains, but all of them ended up betraying Jack in the end. He becomes more and more ineffectual as the series goes on, a major exception being the BadFuture from the series finale where he managed to take over the world. Also in the series finale but during present time, the Xiaolin monks beat Jack up after already defeating him, rip some hair off his scalp and steal his personal belongings.
* ''WesternAnimation/YinYangYo'' has a few:
** Yang gets treated like toilet paper by his sister Yin and sensei Yo as well as a punching bag to the bad guys.
** Carl suffers badly from his evil plans backfiring on him or from his overbearing bad-tempered mother.
* ''WesternAnimation/ZigAndSharko'': Zig. He is eternally hungry, Sharko is quick to wail on him whenever he gets too close to Marina, and even the other animals (particularly the KillerGorilla on the island) have it in for him. His partner Bernie is not much better, often having to put up with the hyena's antics.
* ''WesternAnimation/ZorroTheChronicles'': Sergeant Garcia and Corporal Gonzales share this role. Captain Monasterio is not much better, to his constant humiliation.
