"The ultimate villain of the story, who's causing the problem the heroes must solve."

Note that Big Bad is not a catch-all trope for the biggest and ugliest villain of any given story. The Big Bad is the one who turns out to be behind several other seemingly independent threats.

[[folder: Transformers]]
* Megatron in almost every incarnation of ''Franchise/{{Transformers}}'', only to usually force an EnemyMine when Unicron appears.
** ''Generation 1'': Led the Decepticons on Cybertron and constantly tried all sorts of evil schemes to steal energy from Earth. Since these plans tended to fail, the writers eventually resorted to an EnemyMine plot every other episode to avoid Villain Decay.
** In ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'', he was the Big Bad twice. Firstly he's the standard ruler of the Predacons, fighting against the Maximals. During TheReveal, it is shown that [[spoiler:the G1 Megatron]] had orchestrated the plan, ordering the Beast Megatron to [[spoiler:[[TimeyWimeyBall go back in time]] and kill the G1 Autobots while they were in stasis]]. Only for that plan to be ignored. ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'' Megatron only followed this plan as a last ditch effort, in only one plot, which failed. (Thankfully so, or they all would have been killed by Unicron at some point). Other plots include successfully killing both Optimuses (Optimi?), inventing new classes of Transformers (Transmetal 2, Vehicons) and introducing [[LargeHam ham]] to prehistoric Earth.
** ''WesternAnimation/BeastMachines'': He succeeds in conquering Cybertron and ruling over a planet of mindless, sparkless drones. All this happens ''before the series begins''. During the series, he absorbs every spark on the planet and comes within a millimetre of godhood.
** ''[[Anime/TransformersArmada Armada]]'': Leads the Decepticons and gets his servos on the three most powerful minicons in the universe and would probably have destroyed the Autobots if Unicron hadn't forced them into an [[EnemyMine alliance]].
** ''[[Anime/TransformersEnergon Energon]]'' starts off with Alpha Q as the Big Bad though once Megatron becomes revived he rallies the Decepticons into once again fighting against the Autobots, and then hijacks Alpha Q's plan to restore his home planet and instead manages to successfully revive and, for a time, control Unicron. Oh, and he reformats Scorponok's and Demolishor's sparks to make them less moral and more loyal to himself.
** ''[[Anime/TransformersCybertron Cybertron]]'': Goes after the Omega Lock and the four Cyber Planet Keys to steal the power of Primus and become a god. He intends to use the Unicron Singularity to destroy the universe and then recreate it as he pleases. Later in the series, Starscream successfully betrays him and becomes a Big Bad in his own right, forming a BigBadEnsemble.
** ''WesternAnimation/TransformersAnimated'': His body was destroyed in the pilot, leaving him a head in a scientist's lab. Hooked into the lab's computers, and with the right words to Professor Sumdac, he spends the first season working on getting a new body and taking shots at the Autobots through intermediaries. When he gains a new body and comes bursting out of Sumdac Tower in the first season finale, the 'bots know ''exactly'' how screwed they are. Circumstances still force him to spend most of his time plotting, but it's still a step up from "Decepticons, RETREAT!"
** ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime'': Arrives on Earth via space bridge during the FiveEpisodePilot, armed with "Dark Energon", which has the power to revive Cybertronian corpses as mindless berserkers. [[spoiler: The mini-series ends with him and an undead army disappearing in a space bridge explosion. Starscream promptly becomes the DragonAscendant and takes over as Big Bad for the next several episodes, but Megatron is ultimately revived and retakes the top spot. In the last few episodes of Season 1, though, he's overshadowed by Unicron as the premier threat, only to retake the position in Season 2]]. This series so far as a pattern of alternating between Megatron and someone else for chunks of episodes, going Megatron-> Starscream-> Megatron-> [[spoiler: Unicron]]-> Megatron.
*** [[spoiler:Unicron is the Big Bad of "Predacons Rising", resurrecting Megatron and possessing his body so he can destroy Primus (and by extension, Cybertron) personally, allowing him to bring about an age of chaos and destruction on to the universe.]]

%%
%% * ''[[WesternAnimation/TransformersRobotsInDisguise Robots In Disguise]]'': The second season at first presents Glowstrike as the main villain with Steeljaw DemotedToDragon. However, Steeljaw successfully betrays her in the final episodes and takes leadership of her crew. In the third season, [[spoiler:Starscream]] takes over as the main villain..
%% * The Japanese series have added some other Big Bads, such as Scorponok, Devil Z, Overlord, Deathsaurus, Violen Jiger, and Dark Nova.
%%
%% Please fix example indentation and add context.
%%
%% * The Japanese sequels to ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'' also had their own. ''Beast Wars II'' had brothers Galvatron and Megastorm, and ''Beast Wars Neo'' had Magmatron.
%% * The comics also added a few of their own, including Shockwave, Thunderwing, Ratbat, Bludgeon, Soundwave, Straxus, Scrash, Trannis, Clench, and Jhiaxus. The finale of the ''Generation II'' comic revealed that ALL of the ''G1''-era Big Bads were unknowingly reporting to [[spoiler:Liege Maximo, the very first Decepticon.]] Unfortunately, the comic was canceled immediately after this revelation, so that storyline never went anywhere.
[[/folder]]
----
* While the heroes of ''WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfTheGalaxyRangers'' had an extensive RoguesGallery for a cartoon of The80s, the one who ruled them all was [[GodSaveUsFromTheQueen The Queen of the Crown]], a genocidal woman who runs the [[TheEmpire Crown Empire]].
* ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'':
** [[Characters/AdventureTimeIceKing The Ice King]] served as main antagonist initially, particularly in Seasons 1 and 2 where he often acts as Finn and Jake's main nemesis by kidnapping the Princesses the two have to save. Over time, the Ice King becomes more sympathetic and less villainous, especially after his backstory is revealed, and the role of main villain goes to the [[KnightOfCerebus Lich]], an undead sorcerer who seeks [[OmnicidalManiac the extinction of all life]] and is by far one of the most dangerous threats to the land of Ooo.
** When the [[Characters/AdventureTimeTheLich Lich]] isn't the main concern, other villains act as the antagonist for a [[StoryArc arc or subplot]] such as the original Earl of Lemongrab (after losing his sanity and oppressing his Lemon Children), Orgalorg (a power hungry EldritchAbomination who is the true identity of [[spoiler:the Ice King's penguin, Gunter,]]), the Vamps (a group of five vampires slain by Marceline, only to be accidentally restored to life), and Dr. Gross (the MadScientist who unleashed the plague that caused the plot of the Islands miniseries).
** The final season initially has Gumbald (Princess Bubblegum's creation that went rogue and led an uprising against her), but the final antagonist ends up being [[GreaterScopeVillain GOLB]], the primordial entity of discord that destroys whatever world it appears in and is apparently the creator of the Lich.
%% Fix example indentation and add context.
%%
%% * Poodle from ''WesternAnimation/AlmostNakedAnimals''.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheAmazingWorldOfGumball'': Rob has more or less filled the role since Season 3's "The Nobody", where he vowed to become Elmore's villain and destroy Gumball as revenge for accidentally leaving him behind in The Void and forgetting about him. Since then, he's been Gumball's ArchEnemy and the most prominent threat on the show.
* ''WesternAnimation/AngelsFriends'': [[GodSaveUsFromTheQueen Queen Reina]], who was once a guardian angel that fell in love with the person that she was meant to protect, thus becoming the enemy of both angels and devils. [[spoiler: Turns out that Reina's StartOfDarkness was caused by Raf's mother's disappearance, and everything in the series was manipulated by [[EvilOverlord Cassidy and Kubral]].]]
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Archer}}'': The KGB as an organization is the main opponent, so the Big Bad tends to be whoever's heading it at the time. Nikolai Jakov is this at the start of the series, up until "Crossing Over", where Jakov undergoes RedemptionEqualsDeath and is usurped by Barry Dylan, who in turn in usurped by Katya come "Viscous Coupling".
** [[PlayingWithATrope Played with]] with Malory Archer. While Barry and Katya may be the most obvious opponents of the main characters, Malory Archer has consistently proven herself to be the series' primary conflict creator, often using ISIS and its employees to commit heinous and criminal acts bordering on treason (ranging from the sake of financial gain, to revenge against another, to just getting her sex tape(s) back). To say nothing of how she treats her subordinates, more often than not, she tends to get away with it all most of the time. [[spoiler:And that's not even covering the events of the fifth season.]]
%% ** Season 6 has Slater.
%% ** Season 7 has Veronica Deane.
%% ** Dreamland has Dutch Dylan, the dream persona of Barry.
%% ** Danger Island has Siegbert Fuchs, the dream persona of Cyril.
* ''WesternAnimation/AtomicBetty'' has Maximus I.Q., an EvilOverlord who serves as Atomic Betty's ArchEnemy and the most prominent threat in the series.
%% * ''WesternAnimation/AvengerPenguins'' -- Caractacus P. Doom. As if life could hold anything else in store for a chap with a name like that.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Ben 10}}'': [[Characters/Ben10Vilgax Vilgax]]. He's wounded grievously in the pilot, drives the plot of most of Season 1 from behind the scenes, and finally shows up in person in the Season 1 finale, bigger, meaner, smarter, and tougher than anything Ben's faced before. From there on out, he's usually put somewhere between appearances that keeps him from getting involved... He's also an ImplacableMan and a {{Determinator}}, so he HAS to be kept out of the picture for other plot arcs to happen.
** Season 2 has Kevin 11, an 11-year-old boy with the power to absorb energy. After absorbing some energy from the Omnitrix, he gains the power to turn into Ben's first ten alien forms before losing control of it and becoming an amalgam of those forms. Blaming Ben for this, Kevin spends the entirety of the season seeking vengeance, even going so far as to join forces with Vilgax to take the Omnitrix from Ben.
** Season 3 has Ghostfreak, [[spoiler:Ben's former Ectonurite transformation that actually had the conscious mind of Zs'Skayr. After his demise back in Season 2, Zs'Skayr is revealed to be TheManBehindTheMan to the horror-themed aliens that Ben and his team faced throughout the season, and after being resurrected by [[TheDragon Dr. Viktor]], intends to block out the Earth's Sun with a Corrodium beam so Zs'Skayr can rule the Earth in eternal darkness.]]
** Season 4 has The Forever King, who is TheManBehindTheMan to recurring villain Enoch. [[spoiler:He is revealed to be Driscoll, a disgraced Plumber who joined the ranks of the Forever Knights and became their king. He assembles a team of Ben's RoguesGallery (consisting of himself, [[TheDragon the robotic Red Knight]], the Circus Freak trio, Dr. Animo, Charmcaster, Rojo, Sublimino, and Clancy) in an attempt to claim the Sub-Energy and use it to TakeOverTheWorld.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/Ben10AlienForce'':
** The first two seasons have the Highbreed, a xenophobic alien race that seeks to exterminate all other life in the universe, seeing themselves as the superior race. [[spoiler:The season finale reveals their true motivation was to ensure they don't die alone after many years of inbreeding to remain "pure" has doomed them to extinction.]]
** Season 3 has Vilgax once again, having conquered 10 planets and stole the powers of their heroes (including [[SupermanSubstitute Ultimos]]) so he takes revenge on Ben. When his attempt to use a TrialByCombat to legally take over the planet fails, he continues to reappear in other episodes going off different plots related to trying to claim the Omnitrix. [[spoiler:He uses an alliance with [{EvilTwin Albedo]] to make Ben give up the Omnitrix in exchange for [[IHaveYourWife Gwen and Kevin]], forcing Ben to sacrifice the Omnitrix to prevent Vilgax from using it before replacing it with the Ultimatrix.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/Ben10UltimateAlien'':
** Season 1 has Aggregor, an evil Osmosian that [[spoiler:seeks to absorb 5 different aliens he kidnapped so he can use their powers to travel to the Forge of Creation and absorb an infant Celestialsapien to gain reality warping powers. While he does succeed in the first step and comes close to acheiving [[AGodAmI his ultimate goal]], Kevin stops him by absorbing by the Ultimatrix's energy, gaining the power necessary to stop him at the cost of his sanity, making Kevin the FinalBoss.]]
** Season 2 has a BigBadEnsemble between the Forever Knights [[spoiler:, now led by the founder, Sir George]], [[EldritchAbomination Diagon]], an ancient evil worshipped by a cult known as the Flame Keepers' Circle, and Vilgax, who is initially mistaken for Diagon and becomes his [[TheDragon herald]]. [[spoiler:Sir George ends up being ALighterShadeOfBlack, only seeking to end the threat of Diagon to the point he would cooperate with Ben's team. After Diagon kills George, he is successfully usurped and absorbed by Vilgax, making the latter the FinalBoss]].
* ''WesternAnimation/Ben10Omniverse'':
** Arc 1: Khyber, a hunter of sentient aliens that has made Ben his next target, sending his dog equipped with the Nemetrix (an Omnitrix-like device that can turn the user into the predatory species of Ben's alien forms) after him. [[spoiler:It is revealed that Khyber is working for Malware, a psychopathic Galvanic Mechomorph that can absorb technology and the one who provided Dr. Psychobos the blueprints of the original Omnitrix used to create the Nemetrix.]]
** Arc 2: Malware takes center stage, working alongside Khyber and Dr. Psychobos to assassinate Azmuth and commit genocide of both the Galvans and the Galvanic Mechomorphs.
** Arc 3: Emperor Milleous and his daughter Princess Attea of the [[AliensAreBastards Incursean Empire]], which invade worlds to conquer. [[spoiler:They successfully defeat Ben and conquer Earth, but once Ben returns and defeats Milleous, Attea reveals that the whole conquest was part of her plan to overthrow him and take control of the Empire.]]
** Arc 4: Albedo, Ben's EvilTwin and Azmuth's former assistant who creates a new Ultimatrix for himself and hires Khyber to help in his evil scheme of regaining his Galvan form, taking revenge on Azmuth and Ben, and making himself the smartest mind in the galaxy.
** Arc 5: Zs'Skayr, who resurrects Lord Transyl and plans to use an army of Vladats to conquer the entire galaxy.
** Arc 6: Vilgax and Eon, who assemble a team of evil versions of Ben (including Albedo) to wipe out the main universe Ben Tennyson. Vilgax ends up betraying Eon and the Evil Bens, wiping them out along with every other incarnation of Ben so he can destroy the remaining Ben Tennyson, No-Watch Ben (Ben without the Omnitrix).
** Arc 7: Proctor Servantis, leader of the rogue Black Ops branch of the Plumbers known as the Rooters, that seek to use Kevin and the Plumber's Helpers to destroy both Ben and the Omnitrix out of paranoia.
** Arc 8: Mad Ben, one of the evil alternate Bens that helps the evil Chronosapien Maltruant acquire one of his pieces before being left to destroy Ben.
** Arc 9: Vilgax and Maltruant. The former creates a suit of armor from Malware's remains to once again destroy Ben and claim the Omnitrix. The latter [[spoiler:seeks to go back to the beginning of time and create the universe in his image]].
* ''WesternAnimation/Ben102016'':
** While Season 1 is devoid of a main villain, the "Omni-Tricked" special introduces this show's incarnation of Vilgax, this time as a KnightOfCerebus that restores him as TheJuggernaut since the original series, and he's been featured in a recurring role since as one of Ben's greatest adversaries.
** Season 2 has Vilgax as the main recurring antagonist, until the finale introduces the High Override, leader of the Fulmini. He used Ben's transformations into Shock Rock and his Omni-Enhanced transformations as a beacon to Earth, plotting to send his army to conquer Earth through the Omnitrix. He's so [[TheDreaded big]] and [[EvilerThanThou bad]] that [[EnemyMine Vilgax actually has to team up with Ben in order to fight him.]]
** Season 3 initially has Kevin Levin as a personal enemy of Ben, being his [[TheBully bully]] who has the Antitrix, an Omnitrix [[EvilCounterpart of his own]] which turns him into modified versions of Ben's starting roster of aliens plus one more, and [[KnightOfCerebus the Forever Knight]], a villain who seeks to recruit Ben to his cause. By the finale, Kevin is DemotedToDragon and Forever Knight becomes the season's FinalBoss.
** Season 4 has Vilgax again, though he doesn't show up until ''Ben 10 Versus The Universe: The Movie'', which served to close out the season and revealed him to be the one who masterminded the creation of the Antitrix.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Bandolero|Animation}}'': Don Rodrigo, a cruel and tyrannical general who takes advantage of his job terrorizing the citizens of the land with his sadism and serves as the dragon for governor Campomayor [[spoiler:until he betrayed and usurped him as the new governor]].
* ''WesternAnimation/BigfootAndTheMuscleMachines'': Adrian "Mr. Big" Ravenscroft, a reclusive tycoon who tries to beat our heroes to the Fountain of Youth and does everything in his power to hinder them.
* ''WesternAnimation/BikerMiceFromMars'': Lawrence Lactavius Limburger, a member of a race of fish-like aliens called the Plutarkians, who have invaded Mars with Limburger being one of their agents stationed on Earth. Pretty much every episode involves the titular Biker Mice thwarting his attempts to strip mine Chicago of resources that would benefit Plutark and help the Plutarkians continue conquering planets. While he gets replaced by the Catatonians and Ronaldo Rump in the 2006 revival, he does attempt to regain his stride in the episode "It's the Pits" and the first two parts of the three-part episode "Once Upon a Time on Earth"..
* ''WesternAnimation/BlazeAndTheMonsterMachines'': Crusher. He's Blaze and AJ's rival who always tries to beat them in races by [[DickDastardlyStopsToCheat cheating]] his way to victory, and is a big {{Jerkass}} who only cares for himself. While he can still be this in the recent seasons, he experienced a bunch of CharacterDevelopment during the show and went from TheBully to a JerkWithAHeartOfGold and the show's AntiHero who's more or less on cordial terms with Blaze.
* ''WesternAnimation/BumpInTheNight'' has two: the Closet Monster, a creature made out of wrinkled clothes that inhabits the closet and attacks anyone it feels like, and Destructo, a toy robot who militantly enforces the rules, which often puts him at odds with Mr. Bumpy.
* ''WesternAnimation/BunsenIsABeast'': Amanda [[MeaningfulName Killman]] (while being rather ineffective) is the main villain; with her regularly trying to get rid of beasts so Bunsen's kind doesn't increase in the human world, only for Bunsen to constantly get in her way.
%%* Jordan Buttsquat from ''WesternAnimation/CampLakebottom''.
* ''WesternAnimation/CaptainNTheGameMaster'' has [[Franchise/{{Metroid}} Mother Brain]],the ruler of planet Metroid and the most prominent and recurring threat to the Palace of Power.
* ''WesternAnimation/CaptainPlanetAndThePlaneteers'': Zarm, an immortal being equal in power to Gaia, claims to have been behind almost every dictator in history (with the implied exception of UsefulNotes/AdolfHitler) and manages to force all the other villains to work together under his command.
* ''WesternAnimation/Castlevania2017'': Dracula is the overall main threat of the series, as he seeks to KillAllHumans. During Season 1, however, he's [[GreaterScopeVillain mostly offscreen]], with the primary antagonist actually being the [[SinisterMinister Bishop]] of Griest, who is taking advantage of Dracula's rampage to solidify his own power and fundamentalist viewpoint. Season 2 sees Dracula become more active, but at the same time there's also the matter of [[TheChessmaster Carmilla]], who is [[TheStarscream plotting to usurp him]].
** Season 3 has a BigBadEnsemble between Carmilla (who is seeking to create an empire in the EvilPowerVacuum following Dracula's death), [[DragonAscendant Issac]] (who is building a demon army to [[AvengingTheVillain avenge Dracula]] and [[OmnicidalManiac finish his work]]), and [[FaithHeelTurn Prior Sala]] (the leader of a cult seeking to resurrect Dracula).
** With Sala having died at the end of Season 3, Season 4 allows Carmilla (who now intends to outright TakeOverTheWorld) and Issac to take more active roles. [[spoiler: Halfway through the season, however, [[EvilVersusEvil Issac kills Carmilla]] and has a HeelRealization and HeelFaceTurn. This leaves the role of main antagonist to fall to [[BigBadFriend Saint-Germain]], who has been driven mad by [[LoveMakesYouEvil losing his lover]] to the [[HyperspaceIsAScaryPlace Infinite Corridor]] and now wants to resurrect Dracula to gain the power to control it... and then the season's climax reveals that he's been an UnwittingPawn all along of [[TheGrimReaper Death]], who wants Dracula to [[CameBackWrong come back as a mindless killing machine]] so that he can feed on all of the resulting deaths.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/CastlevaniaNocturne'' has a BigBadDuumvirate between Countess Erzsebet Báthory, the self-proclaimed [[DarkMessiah Vampire Messiah]] who intends to lead the vampires in [[TakeOverTheWorld conquering the world]], and [[SinisterMinister Abbot Emanuel]], who acts as Erzsebet's [[MookMaker Forgemaster]] in exchange for her using her forces to [[EvilReactionary crush the French Revolution, which he sees as a threat to the church]]. Each is planning to betray the other as soon as [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness they're no longer needed]] [[spoiler: and by the end of the season, Erzsebet has proven herself EvilerThanThou, having completely broken Emanuel's spirit and reducing him to her servant.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/CentralPark'' has [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Bitsy Brandenham]], who schemes to sabotage the reputation of the titular park so she can buy it and tear it down.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Centaurworld}}'': The Nowhere King, a horrifying being trapped in the VoidBetweenTheWorlds who started the war ravaging the human world through his army of minotaurs. [[spoiler:It's later revealed that the Nowhere King makes up a BigBadEnsemble with the General, both of whom are the separated elk and human halves of the Elktaur. The General's imprisonment of his elk half would lead him to become the Nowhere King, and the two would willfully perpetuate the ForeverWar, due to them needing each other to survive.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/ClassOfTheTitans'': Cronus, the ancient titan who escaped Tartarus and seeks to reclaim the world for himself. Our heroes were assembled together by the gods to defeat him.
* ''WesternAnimation/CodeLyoko'': XANA, an artificial intelligence villain [[HeWhoMustNotBeSeen who's never seen]], but whose influence is certainly felt. XANA's connection to the Supercomputer and Aelita's past drive the plot of the entire series, with heroes needing to foil XANA's attacks on the real world long enough to accomplish their goals (materializing Aelita into the real world, sever her link to XANA so she can live without the Supercomputer, and develop the means to destroy XANA and [[spoiler:free their teammate William from the former's control]].
%% * ''WesternAnimation/CodenameKidsNextDoor'':
%% ** Father was undeniably the top of the villain hierarchy.
%% ** Though, TheMovie revealed an even more dangerous foe: [[SealedEvilInACan Grandfather]].
%% ** [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Mr. Boss]] plays Big Bad a couple times, too, and if there's a LegionOfDoom to be had, he's usually the leader (though Father rarely participates in these).
%% * Hacker from ''WesternAnimation/{{Cyberchase}}'' was this prior to his in-universe VillainDecay.
* ''WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom'': Vlad [=Masters/Plasmius=]. A half-ghost genius billionaire who's made it his life goal to take Danny as his own son, as well as kill Jack and marry Maddie. He's Danny's most personal and prominent foe; as well as the one responsible for [[HunterOfMonsters Valerie]] becoming a ghost hunter and the release of [[GreaterScopeVillain Pariah Dark]].
* ''WesternAnimation/DexHamiltonAlienEntomologist'': [[EvilutionaryBiologist Syrrus]], who is capturing and genetically modifying the extraterrestrial insects into living weapons and using them to wreak destruction throughout the galaxy.
%% * ''WesternAnimation/{{Dinofroz}}'' has Neceron in Season 1 and Drakemon in Season 2, both of whom want to use their dragon armies to TakeOverTheWorld.
%% * Wilhemina from ''WesternAnimation/DorothyAndTheWizardOfOz''. Like her aunt, the Wicked Witch of the West, her goal is to steal the Ruby Slippers from Dorothy.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Dragamonz}}'' has Grimserver. He was originally a Wildthorn, until he decided to claim more power. His actions resulted in Dragamar being separated into different islands and Grimserver himself was transformed into a skeletal Dragamon known as a Grimwrath.
* ''WesternAnimation/DragonBooster'' has Word Paynn, the CorruptCorporateExecutive of one of the world's largest corporations. He constantly schemes to plunge the world into another Dragon-Human War, intending to take over and rule the planet once the dust settles.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheDragonPrince'' has [[Characters/TheDragonPrinceViren Lord Viren]]. Originally just a PsychoSupporter to King Harrow, whose advice and actions end up inadvertently pushing humanity and the elves towards war, he [[LetNoCrisisGoToWaste takes advantage]] of the king's death and the two princes' disappearances to try and [[RegentForLife seize power for himself]] and start that war on his terms, including launching a FalseFlagOperation on the other human kingdoms to get them on his side. Midway through Season 2, though, this becomes more of a BigBadDuumvirate, as he strikes an alliance with [[SealedEvilInACan Aaravos]]; while the latter is the one who starts coming up with all their schemes, Viren is still the one whose skills and charisma enable them, not least of all due to him needing to act as a WillingChanneler for Aaravos' magic for it to happen.
** In Season 4, [[DaddysLittleVillain Claudia]] serves as TheHeavy, spearheading the effort to find Aaravos' prison and free him, due to Viren being [[VillainousBSOD emotionally broken]] by his defeat [[spoiler: and [[BackFromTheDead temporary death]]]] at the end of Season 3.
%% * ''WesternAnimation/DragonsRidersOfBerk'': Initially, it's Alvin the Treacherous. Later becomes a BigBadEnsemble of Alvin, [[EgomaniacHunter Dagur]], and the [[OurDragonsAreDifferent Screaming Death]] in ''Defenders of Berk'' until Dagur attempts to kill Alvin in "A View to a Skrill", then it's Dagur and the Screaming Death while Alvin [[EnemyMine allies himself with the protagonists]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TheDreamstone'' has Zordrak, the Lord of Nightmares. His goal is to try to get his hands on the titular magical artifact to spread nightmares, though he later decides to set his sights on a larger goal of universal conquest.
%% * ''WesternAnimation/DungeonsAndDragons1983'' cartoon series: The ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1-8bEnqtZ4 Evil Incarnate]]'' summoned by the Box of Balefire, which Venger attempts to welcome, calling it "master", until it accuses him of failure and reduces his (most recent) castle to a lava-filled crater. Then it goes after the main characters.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'': While the show frequently went through a SortingAlgorithmOfEvil, [[EvilTeacher Mr. Crocker]] and [[BabysitterFromHell Vicky]] are undoubtedly the best contenders. Early on, Vicky was the de facto villain, being the primary source of Timmy's misery throughout the first few seasons and the reason why he was eligible for fairy godparents to begin with. However, over time, Crocker would overtake Vicky in importance and become the show's most prominent villain and Timmy Turner's ArchEnemy. His obsession with exposing fairies to the world through Timmy's fairy godparents would become the cause of much of the conflicts in the show, as his success at doing so would cause Cosmo and Wanda to go away forever.
%% ** Abra-Catastrophe: Crocker
%% ** Channel Chasers: Vicky
%% ** School's Out! The Musical: HP and the Pixies
%% ** Fairy Idol: Norm the Genie
%% ** Fairly Oddbaby: Anti-Fairies and Pixies
%% ** Wishology: The Darkness and the Destructinator
%% ** There's also the ''[[WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfJimmyNeutronBoyGenius Jimmy]]/Timmy Power Hour'' crossovers:
%% *** Part 1: Crocker and a malfunctioning Goddard
%% *** Part 2: Professor Calamitous and Anti-Cosmo
%% *** Part 3: The Villain Whose Name Isn't Shirley
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Fangbone}}'' has the EvilSorcerer Venomous Drool, with many of the show's conflicts being driven by the heroes preventing him from retrieving his magical toe.
%% * Prime Evil from ''WesternAnimation/FilmationsGhostbusters''.
* ''WesternAnimation/FinalSpace'': The Lord Commander seeks use [[LivingMacGuffin Mooncake]] to open a portal to the titular location [[spoiler:in order to become a titan.]] However, [[spoiler:the true villain is Invictus, a SatanicArchetype[=-=]EldritchAbomination that is responsible for turning the Titans[[note]]Aside from [[BigGood Bolo]][[/note]] evil and manipulating events to ensure his escape from his prison so he can feast on all worlds]].
%% * The Lobe in ''WesternAnimation/{{Freakazoid}}'' is Freakazoid's most recurring enemy and usually takes the leadership position in supervillain teamups. 251* In-between several recurring villains, [[MonsterOfTheWeek Monsters of the Week]], and personal drama, ''WesternAnimation/RoswellConspiraciesAliensMythsAndLegends'' plays with the concept of a HiddenVillain antagonist for the majority of the series in the form of an enigmatic traitor in the Alliance's ranks that drives much of the most important conflicts of the plot. Towards the end of the series, the Big Bad is revealed as none other than [[spoiler:General Rinaker, or rather a Shadoen agent named Wraith taking his place,]] who -- being behind both the disappearance of Nick's father, the corruption of the Alliance, and the various acts of sabotage -- essentially sets up and drives the series' MythArc.
* ''WesternAnimation/SamuraiJack'': [[Characters/SamuraiJackAku Aku]], an [[MadeOfEvil embodiment of pure evil]] and the titular character's ArchEnemy. After conquering Jack's home and enslaving his people, Aku is defeated by Jack and is barely able to survive by banishing Jack to the distant future where he now has complete control over the world and is spreading his rule across the universe. Aku serves as Jack's greatest obstacle as the latter tries to find a way back to his time period and finish what he started to prevent the awful future from ever occurring. [[SamuraiJack/TropesSeason5 Fifty years later]], with Samurai Jack unable to age as an unforeseen side effect of Aku's spell, Jack must now regain the drive to finish his quest after so many years of failure while fighting against the HighPriestess (a LoonyFan of Aku who seeks to kill Jack to gain Aku's favor) and [[EnemyWithin Jack's Inner Self]].
* ''Franchise/ScoobyDoo'':
** The notorious ''WesternAnimation/ShaggyAndScoobyDooGetAClue'' has the distinction of being the first ''Scooby-Doo'' show to actually have a main antagonist instead of the heroes going after [[MonsterOfTheWeek unconnected one-shot villains]] as previous series did. The main villain of the show is Dr. Phineas Phibes, a mad scientist who schemes to gain immortality and conquer the world with only Shaggy and Scooby standing in the way of his schemes.
** ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooMysteryIncorporated'':
*** The end of Season 1 revealed that [[spoiler:Mayor Jones]] was the one behind the whole plot, and he actively confronted the gang in the finale. However, it could also be argued that he [[BigBadEnsemble shared]] the role with [[KnightOfCerebus Professor]] [[FeatheredFiend Pericles]] who is much more active a villain throughout the season. And in any case, at the end of the season [[spoiler: the Mayor]] is arrested, leaving Pericles to take on the role fully.
*** In the second season, Pericles has formed a BigBadDuumvirate with Mr. E / [[spoiler: Ricky Owens]], and clearly holds the more dominant position of the two. Basically, Pericles has secured his place as ''the'' Big Bad of this show. Though in the final episodes, [[spoiler:it turns out Pericles has been serving the [[SealedEvilInACan Nibiru]] [[GreaterScopeVillain entity]], which in turn has been manipulating events since long before the series started. And in the GrandFinale, it escapes and [[GrandTheftMe steals Pericles' body]], thus becoming the FinalBoss.]]
** ''WesternAnimation/{{Velma}}'': [[spoiler:Fred’s mother, Victoria Jones, is the serial killer that tried to steal the brains of popular beautiful girls to place in Fred’s body so that someone more competent would run Jones Gentlemen’s Accessories.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/TheSecretSaturdays'' has V.V. Argost as the main antagonist. He is the ArchEnemy of the Saturday family who seeks to gain control of the legendary cryptid Kur and uses its power to control cryptids to TakeOverTheWorld. [[spoiler:After discovering Zak is Kur's reincarnation, he then seeks to find the method to extract Kur's spirit from Zak's body, only to change his plans when he discovers the existence of Zak's anti-matter counterpart, deciding to extract the Anti-Kur spirit from him instead. Once he succeeds in that goal, Rani Nagi (queen of the Nagas) convinces him to instead KillAllHumans to cement his rule permeantly.]]
%% * ''WesternAnimation/ShadowRaiders'' has [[PlanetEater The Beast Planet]].
* General Specific is the main antagonist of ''WesternAnimation/SheepInTheBigCity'', as the conflict is driven by his attempts to capture Sheep and use the woolly farm animal in the top secret military organization's sheep-powered ray gun against his will.
* ''WesternAnimation/SheRaAndThePrincessesOfPower'': For most of the series it follows the same format as it's [[WesternAnimation/SheRaPrincessOfPower parent show]] with the Horde's leader Hordak as the main antagonist and Shadow Weaver and later Catra as his [[TheDragon dragons]] however things get more complicated as the seasons go by:
** In Season 1 and 2 [[Characters/SheRaAndThePrincessesOfPowerHordak Hordak]] is the uncontested master of the Fright Zone and, while rarely seen, his orders are absolute. That said he rarely leaves his sanctum and lets Shadow Weaver and Catra do the heavy lifting making them the more direct antagonists for the Rebellion.
** By mid Season 3, [[spoiler:[[Characters/SheRaAndThePrincessesOfPowerCatra Catra's]] growing resentment for Adora, combined with her anger at Shadow Weaver leaving her for Adora, and her desire to win, causes her to manipulate the entire cast, including Hordak himself, into opening a reality fracturing portal regardless of the cost making her the seasons main villain.]]
** By Season 4, [[spoiler:Hordak is browbeat into making Catra an equal partner and the [[BigBadDuumvirate two collectively rule the Horde together]] this season. However a [[BigBadEnsemble complication arises when Light Hope]] is revealed to have been secretly manipulating Adora all along to active an ancient superweapon left behind by the [[AbusivePrecursors First Ones]] which, if released, would destroy Etheria and most of the universe. While Light Hope is the most dangerous of the three all of them are defeated by the season finale.]]
** [[spoiler:After appearing sporadically throughout the series [[Characters/SheRaAndThePrincessesOfPowerHordePrime Horde Prime]] arrives in the last episode of Season 4 in order to use the Heart of Etheria to wipe out his enemies. The conflict with him and the Galactic Horde is the main conflict of the final season and he is such an evil bastard that everyone teams up to take him down.]]
%%* Zeta in the second season of ''WesternAnimation/ShimmerAndShine''.
* [[FallenHero Dragon]] from ''WesternAnimation/SkunkFu'', who indirectly leads his Ninja Monkey army against the denizens of the valley due to him blaming them for his punishment by the gods and [[SealedEvilInACan imprisonment]], which he seeks to escape. Ironically, he is not TheDragon (that's Baboon).
* ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'':
** [[Characters/SouthParkEricCartman Eric Cartman]] himself acts as the main villain whenever he isn't a VillainProtagonist. His manipulations and schemes are the cause of the great deal of the show's conflicts. This is most prominent in the [[Recap/SouthParkTheCoonAndFriendsTrilogy "Coon and Friends" trilogy]], as well as Season 21.
** [[WesternAnimation/SouthParkBiggerLongerAndUncut The movie]] saw a BigBadEnsemble between [[KnightTemplarParent Sheila]], [[TheDevilIsALoser Satan]], and [[ManipulativeBastard Saddam Hussein]]. Shelia is the one who drives much of the film's conflict; leading a crusade against Canada for creating the Terrence and Phillip show, which she's convinced is corrupting the children of South Park; with all of this culminating in Terrance and Phillip's execution. Meanwhile, Satan plots to go to Earth, with a prophecy allowing him to do so if Terrence and Phillip were to get killed. Then there's Saddam Hussein, Satan's DomesticAbuser, who manipulates him into bringing him along. In the end, Saddam becomes the FinalBoss and kickstarts his takeover of Earth; with Satan getting kicked to the curb and Sheila [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone realizing the damage she's caused]].
%% ** Season 18 has the record producer in charge of Lorde/[[spoiler:Randy's]] career. However, he becomes [[HijackedByGanon hijacked by Cartman]] in the two-part finale.
** Season 19 sets up PC Principal as the Big Bad, [[PoliticalCorrectnessIsEvil having been enforcing his PC lifestyle all throughout South Park]] and terrifying the residents in obedience, but he was really an UnwittingPawn of the ads, with [[TheDogWasTheMastermind Leslie]] as their DragonInChief. Throughout the season, Leslie and the ads manipulated PC Principal into making South Park more gentrified, with the intention of making the price of living there expensive to the point that they're forced to leave; allowing the ads to takeover the town and repeat the process until the world's under their control.
** While Season 20 had multiple Big Bads, [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Lennart Bedrager]] ends up being the primary villain after [[{{Troll}} skankhunt42]]/[[spoiler:Gerald]] and [[{{Trumplica}} President Garrison]] do a HeelFaceTurn after [[EvenEvilHasStandards seeing how vile he is]], and the [[NostalgiaAintLikeItUsedToBe Member Berries]] get OutOfFocus. Throughout the season, his company [=TrollTrace=] gradually causes hysteria across South Park and the rest of the world, with his ultimate plan being to use it to drive humanity to destroy itself just [[ForTheEvulz for his own amusement]].
** Season 21 has a BigBadEnsemble of Eric Cartman and President Garrison. Cartman is the source of grief for ArcHero Heidi Turner. All throughout the season, he emotionally and psychologically abuses her, even attempting to kill her at one point. All the while, President Garrison spent the season endangering the country with his reckless decision making and abusing his staff.
** [[ArcVillain The first six episodes]] of Season 23 have [[VillainProtagonist Randy]] [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Marsh]], who seeks to increase profits for Tegridy Farms and the cost of his morality, though he has a HeelFaceTurn during the events of Season Finale.
** ''[[Recap/SouthParkThePandemicSpecial South Park: The Pandemic Special]]'' has a BigBadEnsemble of [[{{Manchild}} Randy Marsh]], [[WesternAnimation/MickeyMouse Mickey Mouse]], [[PoliceBrutality Harrison]] [[PoliticallyIncorrectVIllain Yates]], and [[{{Trumplica}} President Garrison]]. Randy is [[UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom responsible for causing the]] [[UsefulNotes/COVID19Pandemic COVID-19 pandemic]] by having [[BestialityIsDepraved sex with a pangolin]] and his attempts at creating a cure end up making this worse. But he had sex with the animal at the urging of [[GreaterScopeVillain Mickey Mouse]], who is now trying to have Randy killed to hide his own role in the pandemic. Harrison Yates shoots Token Black, leading to everyone in the school getting quarantined, and uses the children's attempt to escape as an excuse to shoot more of them. President Garrison intentionally destroys a potential cure for the COVID-19 virus because it suits his purposes to let it continue.
*** The Pandemic Special's sequel episode, ''[[Recap/SouthParQVaccinationSpecial South Parq Vaccination Special]]'' has Bob White, the leader of the [[ConspiracyTheorist QAnon supporters]] in South Park who believe the COVID-19 vaccines should be destroyed. [[spoiler: The Hollywood Elites, or pretty much [[BreakingTheFourthwall Matt and Trey themselves]],]] are the [[GreaterScopeVillain Greater Scope Villains]].
*** The ''[[WesternAnimation/SouthParkPostCovid Post Covid]]'' [[WesternAnimation/SouthParkPostCovidTheReturnOfCovid Movie Duology]] has Eric Cartman, who tries to prevent Stan and Kyle from [[TimeTravel changing the past]] so [[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes he doesn't lose his family]]. [[DiscOneFinalBoss After his]] HeelFaceTurn, [[DragonAscendant Clyde Donovan]] takes over this role and becomes the FinalBoss, trying to kill Kyle in the past.
** ''WesternAnimation/SouthParkTheStreamingWars'': Mr. Cussler and the water commissioner are the ones trying to control the streaming services (As in ''[[JustForFun/IThoughtThatWas Water]]'' Streams) in Colorado, [[spoiler:[[BigBadWannabe however]], [[DiscOneFinalBoss they get killed partway through the film]] by the real villains, Pi-Pi and [=ManBearPig=], who are working together to monopolize the streaming services and draining water in Colorado to replace with urine, while killing anyone who stands in their way.]]
** ''WesternAnimation/SouthParkTheStreamingWarsPart2'' [[spoiler: Pi-Pi and [=ManBearPig=] ]]return as the main antagonists, only this time, [[BigBadEnsemble they are joined by]] Randy/Karen Marsh, who has embraced his Karen status and goes on a self-entitled rampage throughout the town. He destroys property, drives like a madman, and creates sonic waves that throw people in the air by saying the infamous line: "I want to speak to your manager."
** ''WesternAnimation/SouthParkJoiningThePanderverse'': The Cartman version of Creator/KathleenKennedy is the main antagonist in this episode, where it's revealed that she trapped the real Kathleen Kennedy in the Panderverse before taking her place where Kennedy's actions have negative consequences to Disney's box office sales and the Multiverse as a whole.
** ''WesternAnimation/SouthParkNotSuitableForChildren'': [[spoiler:Clyde's stepmother Janice, who was responsible for the creation and distribution of Cred and pays influencers like [=LoganLeDouche=] to peddle and advertise it, because [[WellIntentionedExtremist she wanted to try and reach Clyde and positively influence him as a mother]] but felt that she couldn’t do it face to face because being a stepmother meant that she wasn’t his “real mother”.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants'' has [[Characters/SpongeBobSquarePantsSheldonPlankton Sheldon Plankton]]. Archenemy of Mr.Krabs, Plankton has hatched countless schemes to run the Krusty Krab out of business, with Spongebob often being the only thing standing in his way. Despite often being portrayed as an IneffectualSympatheticVillain and FriendlyEnemy to Spongebob, he's still the most frequent source of conflict. This is especially prominent in [[WesternAnimation/TheSpongeBobSquarePantsMovie the first movie]], where his Plan Z leads to him taking over Bikini Bottom and nearly getting Mr. Krabs killed.
** ''WesternAnimation/TheSpongeBobMovieSpongeOutOfWater'' has Burger Beard, a pirate that stole a magic book that can rewrite reality. He uses it to steal the secret formula so he can cook and sell Krabby Patties himself. Without Krabby Patties, Bikini Bottom descends into anarchy, with [=SpongeBob=] and friends having to defeat him in order to restore order to the town.
** ''WesternAnimation/TheSpongeBobMovieSpongeOnTheRun'' has King Poseidon [[note]][[{{Expy}} Not to be confused with]] King Neptune[[/note]], who has captured Gary [[BadPeopleAbuseAnimals to use his slime as facial cream]].
* ''WesternAnimation/StarcomTheUSSpaceforce'': The main antagonist is Emperor Dark, the evil leader of Shadow Force and a cruel despot who wants to rule the entire solar system.
* The BigBadDuumvirate of ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'' is the [[Characters/StevenUniverseDiamondAuthority Great Diamond Authority]], a trio of Gems that are ruling the Homeworld Gems and created feral [[MonsterOfTheWeek Monsters of the Week]]. Most of the problems faced in the first three seasons were caused by Yellow Diamond, Peridot and Jasper's superior who is in charge of the Cluster geoweapon, a mass fusion of shattered Gems in Earth's core that will crack apart the planet like an egg if it forms.
** The episode "Legs From Here to Homeworld" introduces [[Characters/StevenUniverseWhiteDiamond White Diamond]], a Diamond who even manages to [[TheDreaded strike fear in both Blue and Yellow Diamond]]. She is also revealed to be the leader of the group, making her the main antagonist of the show.
** [[WesternAnimation/StevenUniverseTheMovie The movie]] introduces [[TragicVillain Spinel]], Pink Diamond's former best friend who seeks to destroy Earth by poisoning it with a massive Kindergarten injector as vengeance for Pink Diamond abandoning her for humanity and leaving her [[AndIMustScream alone for several millennia]].
%% * Bad Inc. from ''WesternAnimation/SuperDuperSumos''.
* ''WesternAnimation/SuperGiantRobotBrothers'': Overlord Master is the leading alien who not only sends the Kaiju after earth but is the direct superior of the alien spy that is directly causing trouble for the heroes. He finally attacks Earth himself in the season one finale with a mechanical weapon of mass destruction: Kalaxian Obliterator.
* ''WesternAnimation/SymBionicTitan'': General Modula serves as the show's main villain. He's the driving force that caused Lance, Ilana, and Octus to flee Galaluna after bringing it to ruin and sends Mutraddi monsters to Earth in order to kill them.
* ''Franchise/TalesOfArcadia'':
** ''WesternAnimation/{{Trollhunters}}'': Gunmar the Black is the EvilOverlord of the Gumm-Gumms, who seek to conquer the rest of troll-kind and wipe out humanity. However, since he's [[SealedEvilInACan trapped in the Darklands]], he's more of a GreaterScopeVillain in Season 1, with the role of TheHeavy going to [[OverlordJr his son Bular]] and [[HalfHumanHybrid Changeling]] leader Walter Stricklander, who are working to free him. [[spoiler: Midway through Season 1, Bular is killed, and Stricklander goes rogue to conquer the world for himself, forcing the assassin [[TheDreaded Angor Rot]] to serve as TheDragon; in the tail end of the season, Rot [[EvilIsNotAToy slips his control and turns on him]], forcing him into an EnemyMine with the heroes and becoming the FinalBoss of the season.]] In Season 2, Gunmar gets free and becomes the active BigBad [[spoiler: until Season 3 reveals him to be in service to [[WickedWitch Morgana]], who becomes the TrueFinalBoss of the series after Gunmar frees her in the final episodes]].
** ''WesternAnimation/ThreeBelow'': [[GeneralRipper General Morando]] is the mastermind of the MilitaryCoup which drives the Tarron siblings off their homeworld and into hiding on Earth. He's a GreaterScopeVillain for Season 1, with the role of TheHeavy going to the Zeron Brotherhood, a group of {{Bounty Hunter}}s who hunt Aja and Krel on Earth. By Season 2, though, Morando comes to Earth personally to both kill them and [[spoiler: retrieve Gaylen's Core, which will [[AGodAmI turn him into a god]] and allow him to conquer the universe]].
** ''WesternAnimation/Wizards2020'': The [[BigBadDuumvirate Arcane Order]], Specifically [[PlayingWithFire Bellroc]] and [[AnIcePerson Skrael]], are a group of ancient demigods who intend to wipe out humanity in order to restore what they see as the proper balance of the world. They were TheManBehindTheMan to Morgana, who serves as TheDragon and TheHeavy in the past, with that role then going to the Green Knight [[spoiler: aka King Arthur]] in the present.
** ''WesternAnimation/TrollhuntersRiseOfTheTitans'': Bellroc and Skrael continue in this role, now intending to unleash the Titans, a group of elemental giants which will help them purge the Earth of humans and reset things according to their design.
%% * [[EvilTeacher Mother Goose]] from ''WesternAnimation/TeenageFairytaleDropouts''.
* ''Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles'' usually has Shredder as the Big Bad, but in the cartoons he is often [[EvilerThanThou topped by some alien threat]].
** The [[WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2003 2003 cartoon]] firmly cements [[Characters/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2003TheShredder Shredder/Ch'Rell]] as the main villain of the first three seasons, [[AdaptationalBadass being a far more dangerous foe than previous incarnations]]. Season 4 has [[AntiVillain Bishop]], a government agent who'll go to extremes to protect Earth from alien threats, Season 5 has [[EldritchAbomination The Tengu]] (the demon whose legend inspired the Shredder), and Season 6 has [[EvilUncle Darius]] [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Dun]]. By Season 7, the ''original'' Shredder made his triumphant return as a digital program and in the flesh in the [[WesternAnimation/TurtlesForever concluding film]].
** The [[WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2012 2012 cartoon]] initially features a BigBadEnsemble between [[Characters/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2012TheShredder The Shredder]] and Kraang Prime. In Season 4, the Triceratons briefly take over as the villains, then once they're defeated Shredder returns to the position.
** ''WesternAnimation/RiseOfTheTeenageMutantNinjaTurtles'' has new character Baron Draxum, a mutant warrior alchemist responsible for all of the mutations throughout the series who eventually takes over the Foot Clan and seeks to complete the Shredder armor so he can use it to exterminate humanity. However, at the end of the Season 1 finale, [[HijackedByGanon he ends up getting overshadowed by The Shredder himself]]. After he's dealt with in the Season 2 premiere, the position goes to Big Mama, the most feared mob boss in the Yokai world who runs the Battle Nexus, [[spoiler: takes control of Shredder, and kidnaps several villains to partake in her games]]. However, after "Battle Nexus: New York", [[spoiler: The Shredder hijacks the position (again) after Foot Recruit frees him from her control, with the remaining episodes focusing on the Turtles stopping his plot to eradicate humanity]].
* ''WesternAnimation/ThunderCats''
** In the original series, ''WesternAnimation/ThunderCats2011'', and ''WesternAnimation/ThunderCatsRoar'', there's SorcerousOverlord {{mummy}}[=/=]{{lich}} Mumm-Ra, foe of the title Cats as they foil his attempts to TakeOverTheWorld.
** There were, however, four {{Greater Scope Villain}}s behind Mumm-Ra, who are never confronted directly and only appear in statue form. Mumm-Ra isn't even their strongest follower; that honor goes to Pyron, who [[DiabolusExNihilo appeared out of nowhere]] to be the FinalBoss of the original series.
* ''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama'' overall has [[DepravedKidsShowHost Chris McLean]], the host of the in-universe series the show is based around, who's willing to go to any lengths to [[ItsAllAboutMe make himself the most famous TV show host in the world]]. However, while Chris himself may be the villain of the series overall, each individual season has its own main villain in the form of one of the contestants, usually being the one that's causing the most trouble and acting as the main source of conflict for that season.
** ''Island (2007)'': [[Characters/TotalDramaHeather Heather]] serves as the main antagonist of the season, and is by far the most iconic one among the contestants.
** ''Action'': [[Characters/TotalDramaCourtney Courtney]] is this for the second half of the season (and can be considered the main villain of the season overall), after being re-added onto the show and getting [[BigBadWannabe Justin]] eliminated.
** ''World Tour'': [[ManipulativeBastard Alejandro]], being the source of almost all of the conflict of the season, as well as being responsible for eliminating nearly every other contestant. He proves to be EvilerThanThou to every other character on the show, forcing Heather to take on an AntiHero role for the season.
** ''Revenge of the Island'': [[TeamKiller Scott]], being the most devious of the season's contestants, willing to actively throw challenges for his team if it means furthering his own goals. However, Scott ends up getting eliminated by the third to last episode, but unlike other seasons where the main villain doesn't make it to the finale (which have a GoodVersusGood, or at least morally grey, conflict), this season suddenly gains a new villain in [[JerkJock Lightning]], who [[TookALevelInJerkass Takes a Level in Jerkass]] and ends up as the final villain of the season.
** ''All-Stars'': [[Characters/TotalDramaMike Mal]], Mike's dormant SplitPersonality who takes over his body, and overall acts as the primary source of conflict in the season.
** ''Pahkitew Island'': This season has a BigBadEnsemble in [[LaughablyEvil Sugar]] and [[HiddenVillain Scarlett]]. Between the two, Sugar is the more openly antagonistic, whereas Scarlett doesn't reveal her true nature until the near the end of the season, and ends up lasting the longer of the two. However, once Scarlett does reveal her true self, she proves to be the much bigger threat of the two.
** ''Island (2023)'': Like ''Pakhitew Island'', this season has a BigBadEnsemble in [[BadInfluencer Julia]] and [[CampGay Bowie]]. Julia is the more outwardly antagonistic after she lost all of her followers, while Bowie has been acting from the first elimination onward, [[LesserOfTwoEvils and is more of a strategist instead of an outright jerk]], [[ALighterShadeOfBlack as he doesn't actually wish ill upon the other contestants, he is just very competitive]]. Both Julia and Bowie clash with each other and [[EvilVsEvil spend a good part of the game trying to get each other eliminated]].
* There are several examples of this in ''WesternAnimation/TomAndJerryKids'' and its spinoff, ''WesternAnimation/DroopyMasterDetective'': While the Droopy and Dripple shorts consisted of many [[MonsterOfTheWeek one-episode antagonists]], [=McWolf=] is the most prominent and recurring antagonist of them all, with almost all of the shorts featuring him as one. From trying to take over the world or becoming the best business over his rivals, he would do anything to get what he wants.
* ''WesternAnimation/ToxicCrusaders'' has Dr. Killemoff, who seeks to pollute Tromaville, the home of the Toxic Avenger and the other Toxic Crusaders, to the point that it can be invaded by his fellow bug-people from the planet Smogula.
%%* Simon the gremlin in ''WesternAnimation/{{Trollz}}''.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Tutenstein}}'' has Set, the Egyptian God of Chaos, Destruction and Disorder who wishes to obtain the Scepter of Was so that he may conquer both the Underworld and the Overworld.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheVentureBros'' has had the Monarch through the series, though often in a BigBadEnsemble with another villain. In Season 1, Monarch was more of a BigBadWannabe and was competing with more-threatening Baron Ünderbheit to be Rusty Venture's primary arch. In Season 2, he took on more of a VillainProtagonist role with Phantom Limb taking over as the main Big Bad. Come Season 3, Monarch was barred by the [[WeirdTradeUnion Guild of Calamitous Intent]] from arching Dr. Venture, with the AffablyEvil Sgt. Hatred becoming Rusty's Guild-sanctioned arch enemy. Monarch retakes his status as the main Big Bad in Seasons 4 and 5, though occasional {{Arc Villain}}s like the returning Phantom Limb, Monstroso, and Molotov Cocktease get their share of focus as well.
%%* ''WesternAnimation/WinxClub'':
%%** Season 1: The Trix
%%** Season 2: Lord Darkar
%%** Season 3: Valtor
%%** Secret of the Lost Kingdom (first movie): The Ancestral Witches
%%** Season 4: The Fairy Hunters
%%** Magic Adventure (second movie): The Trix and the Ancestral Witches
%%** Season 5: Tritannus
* ''WesternAnimation/{{WITCH}}'' had EvilOverlord Phobos in Season 1, who was succeeded by Nerissa, a {{Chessmaster}} and [[FallenHero former Guardian]], in Season 2. Nerissa was manipulating from behind the scenes even during Season 1. Pretty impressive, considering she was [[SealedEvilInACan trapped in a coffin for quite a while.]]
