Creator/TakuIwasaki pulled out all the stops for the ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann'' soundtrack.
----
* [[https://youtu.be/VT6LFOIofRE "Libera Me From Hell"]] is only played during [[Awesome/TengenToppaGurrenLagann awesome moments]]. How did they manage to make a ''[[GenreMashup fusion of rap and opera]]'' awesome? By kicking reason to the curb and going all-out, naturally.
--> Two songs, one an opera about giving up and asking for help, the other a rap about not giving up and doing it yourself. Which over takes the other by the end?
-->'''Website/YouTube Comment''': Listened to this while cooking. [[BeyondTheImpossible Made a gourmet five-course meal. All I had was a bag of flour]].
** Hell, any song with those lyrics (the rapping, not the OminousLatinChanting). From [[https://youtu.be/BLdaGXBILWk The Dai-Gurren Dan Theme]] to [[https://youtu.be/0l__jSgTAmQ Kamina's Theme]].
** While the rap portions tend to receive the most love, the orchestrated opera portions of the song are also very awesome in their own right and gets used to chilling effect in the prologue recalling Lordgenome's backstory in ''Gurren-Hen''.
* In addition to "Libera Me" From Hell, all of the different versions of "Rap Is a Man's Soul" are awesome:
** [[https://youtu.be/aqUsHmtZygg "Rap wa Kan no Tamashii da! Muri wo Toushite Douri wo Kettobasu! Ore Tachi dai Gurren Dan no Theme wo Mimi no Ana Kappo Jitte yo~ Kukiki Yagare!!"]][[labelnote:Or, if you prefer]]Rap is a Man's Soul! We Kick Reason to the Curb to Make the Impossible Possible! Open up Your Ears and Listen to Our Team Dai-Gurren Theme!![[/labelnote]], which is probably the version that comes to mind when one thinks of "ROW! ROW! FIGHT THE POWER!" It plays during many awesome moments.
** [[https://youtu.be/Mm0YmRHdyz4 "No Helping It!!"]], an instrumental version that's ridiculously epic, even out of context. Aside from the opening theme, this the very first piece of music we hear in the series, and it accompanies the ActionPrologue. It's also the fanfare they use for the brief recaps that start most of the episodes.
** [[https://youtu.be/7GeQK0fOAew "Rap Was a Man's Soul... Right?"]], a surprisingly somber version of a normally triumphant song.
* [[https://youtu.be/3mDJbF0HOIA The music that plays]] when Simon and Kamina first break through to the surface.
** The longer version, [[https://youtu.be/V_Z5RFBAX2M Ten wo Tsuke,]] is just plain HEROIC. If hope had a soundtrack, this would be that soundtrack.
** It was even more epic during the Giga Drill scene in Episode 8. Hotblooded speeches, epic attacks, glorious victories, heroic deaths, AND awesome music.
** And it was EVEN MORE EPIC during Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann's formation in the movie.
** It was even used as the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann's theme in ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsZ The Third Super Robot Wars Z: Jigoku-hen]]''.
* [[https://youtu.be/1dCF6TT0-aU "Break Through The Dream"]], Kamina and Simon's song captures the Super Robot Spirit very well.
* The first ending, "[[https://youtu.be/AyFlycSVonU UNDERGROUND]]", may qualify. [[https://youtu.be/zavmb2w4QGg The full version]] ''definitely'' qualifies.
* The second ending [[https://youtu.be/0zAbpPTp1FI "Minna no Peace"]].
* Viral's {{Leitmotif}}, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyRK2GI_T7I "Nikopol"]]. That NuMetal feel of the song [[Music/LinkinPark is quite familiar...]] and downright awesome in itself.
* [[https://youtu.be/49vyjHpMwWE "Happily Ever After"]], the ThemeMusicPowerUp for one of the greatest HesBack ever. It also plays when Team Dai-Gurren storms the Dekabutsu.
* [[https://youtu.be/PKRUKalbx3s "Sorairo Days"]] by Shoko Nakagawa is an epic, hot-blooded and ''awesome'' rock song that is sure to make you hyped up from the very beginning. It only becomes even more hype inducing when it [[LastEpisodeThemeReprise plays in the final battle]].
** The only way to make that song more Hot blooded? [[https://youtu.be/-dWZcF58EgA Let Masaaki Endoh sing it]]. Really now, is there anything JAM Project ''can't'' make more awesome?
** Shoko Nakagawa and T.M.Revolution perform a [[https://youtu.be/80PWgvZKYcM duet]]. Awesomeness ensues.
** Want to hear another awesome duet? Listen to the [[https://youtu.be/14pw_Mk8ytk duet]] between Shoko Nakagawa and Kalafina! It's epic beyond all belief!
** "Sorairo Days"...[[https://youtu.be/mz7r0KGtuPw sung by the cast of the show]]!
* [[https://youtu.be/aJo_3B5-1uk To Hell With Gattai]] is that one song that [[ScrewDestiny sends one giant middle finger to fate, destiny, and other preordained shit]] while yelling: '''"WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?"'''
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWKm6jDt-BA "Get Fired Up, All Of You!"]] is a very epic and masculine song. Its beginning also has a rather serious and intense vibe to it. Fitting since the music video OVA for this song was [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1e2CiFbmQEg Lord Genome's origin story.]] It also holds a special meaning to many ''VideoGame/{{Fraxy}}'' players.
* [[https://youtu.be/COmMCEMppi8 "Is It Okay To Just Get Fired Up?"]], the villain's victory song usually, music played when the enemy's really starting to get a solid advantage and you wonder the outcome. Not like you should, but... you should probably brace yourself.
* [[https://youtu.be/A_ndaumP7zE "Spinning, Spinning, Spinning, Spiii!?"]] was good, but normal BackgroundMusic until Lagann-hen, at which point it becomes the theme for creating Chouginga Gurren Lagann, Simon AND his mech obliterating everything and crying manly tears of blood, and the Dai-Gurren-dan going on an utter rampage in the name of vengeance and lost brothers.
* [[https://youtu.be/zWVXKMq_Vq0 "Spin, Spin, Spin, Spinnnn...."]], an absolutely ''ominous'' orchestral piece complete with a OneWomanWail, perfectly captures the terrifying reveal of [[AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever Dekabutsu]], [[ThatsNoMoon the mecha hidden inside the capital of Teppelin.]]
%%* [[https://youtu.be/eG3GR4gVygw "Tsuzuku Sekai"]], the ending theme of the first movie.
%%What about it?
* From the second movie, we have [[https://youtu.be/5EXFilTUiko "Sorairo Days -Tengen Toppa EDITION-"]], played during the final battle, and the ending theme, [[https://youtu.be/oL740l_S5Ng "Namida no Tane, Egao no Hana"]]. There are two versions of "Sorairo Days" appended with Tengen Toppa EDITION. If it also has Lagann EDIT then it's from the movie, the other one splices the tune of "Tsuzuku Sekai", "Happily Ever After" and a third song into it for an interesting but not quite as dramatic form of awesome. Can be heard [[https://youtu.be/uNBVzfFApIU here]].
* Also from the second movie: [[https://youtu.be/I1IVX9P9kVk "My XXX is the Best in the Universe".]] In the same vein as the famous "Row Row Fight the Power", but with brand new lyrics and a beat that will pierce the heavens.
* For those into the futuristic style, [[https://youtu.be/AkTche1J7O0 "The Blue Monday E"R"ectrical Parade"]], played during some Mugann battles.
* It's different from most examples here, but [[https://youtu.be/i28nvKVEVMk Nia's Theme]] is pretty much SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments in music form... and a TearJerker if you know what happens to her. [[https://youtu.be/maEiXAaOFCM "Love Conservative"]] is even more beautiful. And sad.
* The second arc of the show has some new battle themes. [[https://youtu.be/UOYyR7UBlhs How's it! My trumpet is awesome right!]] is the assault/victory theme of the Anti-Spiral forces, and the distorted noises really show that humanity is dealing with a whole new kind of horror.
