[[AC:Season 1]]
* The show's theme song is cute and infectious; it opens every episode and lays down the premise for the series ("I used to wonder what friendship could be, til you all shared its magic with me!"). The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcBNxuKZyN4 full, uncut version]] of it however is twice as sweet and heartwarming, delving into Twilight Sparkle's affection for each of her five friends, and expanding on how they've all brightened up her life since she moved to Ponyville.
* We can't go without first mentioning [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrPte1uijDw "Giggle At The Ghostie"]], the song that established the running gag of Pinkie Pie busting into song without anyone else joining in, and she couldn't care less. And it translates surprisingly well [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_mUg8uS_jw into Japanese!]]
%%* The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fe3KrT1rw-0 Winter Wrap-Up song]].
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSbXGsysAAk "Art of the Dress"]] from the episode "Suited For Success" that is closely based on the Music/BarbraStreisand version of "Putting it Together" from the musical ''Theatre/SundayInTheParkWithGeorge''.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLbdibRyt0k#t=11s Sweetie Belle's gospel rendition of the lullaby]] in "Stare Master". Even more impressive is that Michelle (who sang for Sweetie Belle at the time) was ''10'' when she sang it.
* The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EI_b68RcdTo Cutie Mark Crusaders' song]] in "Show Stoppers". The lyrics are pure NarmCharm, but the instrumentation is just epic rocking.
** Fun Fact: Lauren Faust rejected Daniel Ingram's original recording of the CMC theme song because she wanted it to sound ''worse''.
** The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-k7TOKGXM0A Japanese version]] takes out the SoBadItsGood factor that the original was meant to have, but it manages to sound epic in its own way.
** The original version [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uw68kBIDVKM was finally released]] through a ContentLeak (along with a plethora of other things). And at last we finally hear just how awesome Maddy sounded singing it.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXxP_-XaKrk So Many Wonders]], the song sung by young Fluttershy in "The Cutie Mark Chronicles".
* Episode 26's theme song, "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu3zt5T7gYM At the Gala]]", truly takes the cake. It's a song of triumph, not only for the Mane Cast, who have waited all year for this day, but also for the fans who stuck with all 26 episodes and found each of them awesome. Rainbow Dash's rock segment is arguably the crowner of the entire song, too. It's also based off the song "Ever After" from ''Into The Woods'', [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSwELh0qOes and they match up so well too.]]

[[AC:Season 2]]
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGLeMQDef7c Find A Pet]], where Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash sing when trying to pick a pet for Rainbow Dash in "May the Best Pet Win!" (the first song of the season!) is a perfect blend of awesome, cute, and funny. Being able to work in not just a few recognizable measures but a large bulk of "Music/RideOfTheValkyries" is pretty impressive as well.
* Episode 9 [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E9SweetAndElite "Sweet and Elite"]] brings us the second song of the season "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPoh0EWXYfY Becoming Popular (The Pony Everypony Should Know)]]" and it's '''beautiful''', though that's to be expected when you have a wonderful singing voice like Rarity's.
* Although it's only a good half minute long, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQY_BcuLfow the holiday carol]] sung in episode 13's "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E13HearthsWarmingEve Hearth's Warming Eve]]" can be considered this and one of the SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments, if not even a SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome, for the episode.
* Episode 15 [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E15TheSuperSpeedyCiderSqueezy6000 "The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000"]] brings us "[[http://youtu.be/_f7OWX-jRVk The World Famous Flim Flam Brothers]]", which is a ShoutOut to "Ya Got Trouble" from ''Theatre/TheMusicMan''. Sure, they're trying to run out the Apple Family, but the Vaudeville-esque song is just too damn catchy that you can't help but sing with them. Just ask Rainbow Dash and the rest of Ponyville.
** Note that this is also the show's first VillainSong, and you know what they say about those being the best of any show...
** So take this opportunity, in this very community....
* [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E17HeartsandHoovesDay "Hearts and Hooves Day"]] has the CMC singing the incredibly catchy "[[https://youtu.be/rXPo1NuRofQ The Perfect Stallion]]," which can only make fans wonder, "Why doesn't Sweetie Belle have her cutie mark yet?" The featured singers in this song were Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom. What makes this impressive is that both parts are sung by the same actress - ''an 11 year old girl''.[[note]] That would be the very talented Michelle Creber. She's obviously not so young anymore, but it's known that she was ''10'' when she sang Sweetie Belle's first song, "Hush Now, Quiet Now". Since this song came almost exactly a year later, well... Incidentally, Sweetie Belle's regular VA, Claire Corlett, did not sing until Season 4. In Season 3 we find out why.[[/note]]
* The episode [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E18AFriendInDeed A Friend In Deed]] finally gives us the long-leaked song [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNrXMOSkBas Smile, Smile, Smile.]] It DARES you not to do the same. Because it primarily sums up everything that is great about Pinkie Pie's character.
** The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZQL-kgauNE Latin-American version]] is simply BEAUTIFUL, even if there's no choir.
** The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZS36w_fxdg Japanese version]] also manages to generate a high quality dub that can be considered to be on par with the original.
* Twilight finally sings a solo (MORE THAN ONCE!) in the second season finale, and it is ''glorious''.
** Her [[https://youtu.be/m5Tckxq6Hq0 "B.B.B.F.F"]] song is both beautiful and heartwrenching, ''especially'' if the person listening has any siblings that they've grown apart from. And that's just the first rendition; try to contain your feels when she sings its reprise. Special mention has to go the harmony on the very last "forever" in the first song. Bonus points for Daniel Ingram confirming that Twilight's glissando deliberately matches the first few notes in the theme song.
** The song she sings during the wedding reception, [[https://youtu.be/Z88Y7bfRueI "Love is in Bloom"]], should be played ''at all wedding receptions!'' The [[https://youtu.be/rdyNfrD1L3Q extended version]] of the song isn't half bad either.
* WE FINALLY HAVE ANOTHER VILLAIN SONG! [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzsxfO7dBlA "This Day Aria,"]] which is (sort of) a Cadance duet with herself is nothing short of epic and brings to mind another [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLS86g3_NYI song]] from another [[WesternAnimation/TheLittleMermaid1989 movie...]]
** Props especially go to the voice actress, Britt [=McKillip=], who manages to use the same voice, but vary it enough that who is who can be identified just by the vocals.
** The [[https://youtu.be/2C8JDQU1pY4 Reprise]], sung by Creator/KathleenBarr (Chrysalis' voice in her true form) just adds to the awesomeness of the whole damn song. Chilling, but awesome.
** An Aria is a piece for one voice backed by an orchestra. Originally, though, it was simply a very emotive piece, not necessarily with vocals. It lives up to both meanings very much so.
** Creator/LilyPeet put it best when she talked about this song in her Top Ten Best MLP Songs video: "This is not a song, this is Daniel Ingram making all of Creator/{{Disney}} his '''BITCH!''' And it is ''magnificent''."

[[AC:Season 3]]
* From [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E1TheCrystalEmpirePart1 "The Crystal Empire - Part 1"]], there are two songs. The first is [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9587NQm6OVw "The Failure Song"]]. It gives us a sincere and heartfelt song with impressive visuals that demonstrate an upgrade to the show's animation quality. As well as that, we have a few funny moments, as well as hearing Spike sing for the first time.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyNb2t5YIcs And now there's a]] TriumphantReprise in [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E2TheCrystalEmpirePart2 "The Crystal Empire - Part 2"]].
** The other song from Part 1, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LkJ3_nVq8s "The Ballad of the Crystal Empire"]], shows off Daniel Ingram's mastery of chord progression and cadence, while providing rapid-fire delivery of a bunch of exposition.
* From [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E4OneBadApple "One Bad Apple"]], we have a [[TheVillainSucksSong villain sucks song]] about the bully [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMjNmShuijg Babs Seed]]. It's probably the most upbeat song of its category with chorus and visual [[ShoutOut shout outs]] to ''WesternAnimation/JosieAndThePussycats'' and "Let's All Go to the Lobby" to top it off.
** Within about a week, at least 21 remixes of the song could be found. It is just that catchy.
* From [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E9AppleFamilyReunion "Apple Family Reunion"]] comes the beautiful song "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pT0cYJp2D44 Raise This Barn]]". Not only is it better than most country songs today and ''especially'' the first time we've heard Applejack really sing since "The Best Night Ever",[[note]] Unless you count Hub promos[[/note]] but it also captures the true spirit of the Apple Family down to the capital A. Not a bad song to raise barns and/or set everything right to.
* [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E13MagicalMysteryCure "Magical Mystery Cure"]] features SIX (seven if you count the TriumphantReprise)
** As soon as the episode starts, we're greeted by [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMbUUmfg6ok "Morning in Ponyville".]] Its TriumphantReprise, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5ZDxuvUbPY "Life in Equestria"]], plays at the end.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pLIGxvh_Fc "What My Cutie Mark Is Telling Me"]], which gives us the mane six (minus Twilight) failing horribly at their "destinies". This song has become notably popular to remix with [[EnsembleDarkhorse famous background ponies.]]
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92eo1hSAgTA "I've Got to Find a Way"]] a tragic, yet beautiful song depicting how messed up everything is with the Mane 6's destinies switched.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpqZPdj-PLQ "A True, True Friend"]], which helps exemplify what the Mane 6's friendship is all about. Words fail to describe how spine-chillingly epic and uplifting the song is, especially as it shows each of Twilight's friends rediscovering their true selves; it even replaces the title theme for the end credits.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1b6vFMkMQTE "Celestia's Ballad"]], which features for the first time Celestia sings. And it's beautiful. Throw in the sheer nostalgia and emotional impact this song employs and you'll be shedding liquid pride for hours.
%%** And finally, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLE3DmidjBI Behold, Princess Twilight Sparkle]].

[[AC:Season 4]]
* "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E5FlightToTheFinish Flight to the Finish]]" gives us the season's first song, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjMyKQPUrnI "Hearts as Strong as Horses"]], and it is ''glorious.'' From the visuals to the lyrics about determination and never giving up, this song is worthy of Olympic Glory. And not to mention its TriumphantReprise, which underscores [[Awesome/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Scootaloo's finest hour.]]
* "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E7Bats Bats!]]" has [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_WO0yxD3Hk the episode's title song]], and it's simply ''divine''! Taking inspiration from ''WesternAnimation/TheNightmareBeforeChristmas'', and the song "Savages" from ''WesternAnimation/{{Pocahontas}}'', it displays Applejack and Fluttershy's reasoning towards how the vampire fruit bats are vermin and how the vampire fruit bats are just like every other pony respectively. Not only do its visuals show off how contrary both sides are to the story, but its grand finale amplifies how grand it really is to listen to.
* The streak continues with [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qr5hDJtL0tE "Generosity"]] from [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E8RarityTakesManehattan Rarity Takes Manehattan.]] Even more so in that this pretty much IS Rarity's IAmSong; it defines her ''modus operandi'' to a tee.
* Before the season even premiered, they gave us another one with [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRtgFjshdbU "Apples To The Core"]] from the episode "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E9PinkieApplePie Pinkie Apple Pie]]". While the song seems to lose something without the audience clapping, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIkqNqGkDqs the episode version]] of the song is still quite fun.
* [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E11ThreesACrowd "Three's a Crowd"]] gives the utterly hysterical and visually amazing showstopper of a PatterSong "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwXylReeDwI Glass of Water]]". Not only does it [[TheCastShowoff showcase]] Discord's, and thus Creator/JohnDeLancie's singing skills for the first time on the show ([[Film/BroniesTheExtremelyUnexpectedAdultFansOfMyLittlePony "Let's Go and Meet the Bronies"]] doesn't count), and not only is it the adorable love child of [[{{WesternAnimation/Aladdin}} "Friend Like Me"]] and [[Film/TheProducers "The King of Broadway"]], but so much happens in so little time, you'll be hard-pressed to make any sense of it at all. (But then, "what fun is there in making ''sense?''")
* Oh boy...we don't know where to start with "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E12PinkiePride Pinkie Pride]]". With seven new songs in this episode, many of them performed by [[Music/WeirdAlYankovic a man who makes his living parodying every style of music under the sun]], it'll be tough to pick a truly stand out moment. Here are all the songs of the episode:
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-slrm7JSvSQ Pinkie the Party Planner]]", a classic Pinkie song with talking mid-song and crowd singing segments. Plus, it's the first time that Diamond Tiara sings.
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iC7JQYdjKE4 The Super Duper Party Pony]]", a perfect EstablishingCharacterMoment for the Cheese Sandwich character.
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdi7WXkd5Qg Pinkie's Lament]]" starts out depressing, but steadily rises to a triumph, all in one fluid movement of profound emotion.
** The completely crazy "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6G77Z9g1_mk The Goof Off]]". In the song, Cheese Sandwich briefly sings a polka rendition of "Smile, Smile, Smile" song (while denying he knows anything about that being Pinkie's song). Pinkie Pie also sings part of a traditional Mexican song typically sung during the breaking of piñatas.
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQu8QtlvjOI Cheese Confesses]]" starts like a sad reprise of first Cheese song until the revelation about him.
** An upbeat, four-on-the-floor party tune that comes and goes in less than a minute? Yeah, the fandom's howling for an extension to [[https://youtu.be/Depmuu3ZyKY_Vgo "Make a Wish"]]. And eventually, [[https://youtu.be/c-Sx_42DrAg we got one]]!
* [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E14FilliVanilli Filli Vanilli]] gives us "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mKLLDtVPsw Music in the Treetops]]", a short burst of Fluttershy (and Creator/AndreaLibman) in full on Franchise/DisneyPrincess mode.
** Also, "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnslameKl2c Find the Music in You]]" a cute little Barbershop Quartet bit.
** And finally, "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCOA6qT6cBI Find the Music in the Treetops]]", with the two mixed together.
** One clever soul on Youtube actually had the brains to create [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=so9TVXhoLLE a vocal mash-up of the Ponytones' song]], not only so we get to hear Big Mac's REAL vocals combined with "Flutterguy's", but also so all Big Mac X Cheerilee shippers get to see Cheerilee swoon over Big Mac's real vocals!
* "Twilight's Kingdom" gives us two: "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=258IelnsyEg You'll Play Your Part]]", sung [[SugarWiki/MostWonderfulSound by Celestia, Luna, and Cadence]] to lift [[PepTalkSong Twilight's spirits,]] and "[[https://youtu.be/eNWIUjpXhII Let the Rainbow Remind You]]", an anthem on how together anything is possible. The former song is Luna's first time singing, courtesy of Kazumi Evans, the same singer as Rarity, and Cadance (Britt [=McKillip=])'s first singing role since the second season finale.

[[AC:Season 5]]
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_g_GgbICsZI In Our Town]], sung by [[BigBad Starlight Glimmer]] and [[IndividualityIsIllegal her Equal Mark ponies]], which explains their philosophy that if everyone is equal, everyone is happy. Just like the town itself, the song is outwardly upbeat and happy, but if you look a little deeper, you will quickly notice clues that it's not all as it seems - the rolling drum beat would not seem out of place in a military march, and then there are lyrics like...
--> '''Townfolk:''' [[LyricalDissonance You can't have a nightmare if you never dream.]]
* After five seasons, Rainbow Dash finally gets her own solo with [[https://youtu.be/K_kAuAWUtcA "I'll Fly"]], in which she tries to prevent winter from coming so Tank won't hibernate, complete with a compelling score, as well as some impressive aerial acrobatics.
* After a while of no significant musical numbers, [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS5E14CanterlotBoutique Canterlot Boutique]] brings the [[https://youtu.be/_Q174g63ABU Rules of Rarity]], a Rarity song reminiscent of "Art of the Dress" but with its own heartfelt spin on the nostalgic tune. The TriumphantReprise at the end is sweet too; only Rarity could make a song that sounds like it belongs in a ''Sears-Kenmore informercial'' sound so awesome!
* [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS5E19CrusadersOfTheLostMark Crusaders of the Lost Mark]], being a MusicalEpisode, has a few.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVgMmT7pX1Y The Pony I Want to Be]], which did the seemingly impossible and actually got people to feel bad for Diamond Tiara. The [[TriumphantReprise reprise]] contributes with heartwarming and begins wrapping up the end of a long journey of self-discovery.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_L1tmY3YcQ Light of Your Cutie Mark]], serving as the crucial point of the Crusaders' attempt to reach out to Diamond Tiara.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evSKsxCJ3qE We'll Make Our Mark (Reprise)]], a beautiful and heartfelt conclusion to the Crusaders' four-and-a-half season long arc, with plenty of [[CallBack call backs]] to previous CMC episodes.
** On a general note, on all of their songs, the Cutie Mark Crusaders have such beautiful harmonies. They certainly made the right call by having Claire Corlett sing for Sweetie Belle instead of Michelle Creber, so that we can hear how beautifully they blend together.
* From episode 24, "The Mane Attraction":
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnT9nJANmE The Spectacle]], a pop song sung by Countess Coloratura that does in hindsight express a feeling of sadness through the soulless performance, what with going against one's self and putting on so much glitz and glam it seems that's all you are.
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgXTzOkCUI8 The Magic Inside]]", a show-stopper performed by Broadway singer Creator/LenaHall, appears at the climactic moment where Coloratura appears on-stage as herself.
** Sung with an acoustic guitar accompaniment, and reprised at the end of the episode with the CMC, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rt6tygBCGCo Equestria, the Land I Love]] truly feels like an anthem for the land of ponies, the land that inspires love and compassion.
* From the finale, "The Cutie Re-mark", we have the song that wraps the episode up, [[https://youtu.be/bAp_huEmI58 Friends Are Always There For You.]] Similar in vein to "Let The Rainbow Remind You", it's a song of heartwarming conveying the elation of learning to be happy again, to a montage of Starlight bonding with the mane six and the other ponies. It may take a few listens to be able to appreciate it, but the song truly does convey a warm, pleasant sentiment that's not as ridiculous as it is wonderful.

[[AC: Season 6]]
* From "On Your Marks", we have [[https://youtu.be/SDHKcGwRS-4 On My Own]], a beautiful melody that showcases Michelle Creber's amazing singing while showing Apple Bloom's sadness over the CMC seemingly drifting apart.
* "Spice Up Your Life" brings us the catchy, Bollywood-inspired [[https://youtu.be/aIMj064jB4c It's Gonna Work]].
* The obligatory musical episode of the season, "A Hearth's Warming Tail", brings us a VillainSong from Starlight -- or rather, Snowfall Frost ([[https://youtu.be/5zA7Rihyifg "Say Goodbye to the Holiday"]]), and the 3 Gho -- Spirits of Hearth's Warming Past ([[https://youtu.be/QStUZMZvDss "Seeds of the Past"]]), Present[[PunnyName s]]' ([[https://youtu.be/INJdzuddCQk "Pinkie's Present"]]), and Yet-to-Come ([[https://youtu.be/mrN-giomPgs "Luna's Future"]]). Not to mention the song wraps things up with a little Hearth's Warming carol ([[https://youtu.be/O2_s_P2bXaM "Hearth's Warming Eve is Here Once Again"]]).
* "The Times They Are a Changeling" gives us Spike's first solo song[[note]]Not counting "Jolly Ol' St. Nick" from the ''It's a Pony Kind of Christmas'' album.[[/note]], [[https://youtu.be/SBzBJngxNm4 A Changeling Can Change]], a beautiful ballad about how it's possible for a changeling to accept friendship.
* "The Fault in Our Cutie Marks" gives us a song sung by the CMC and new character Gabby the griffon, [[https://youtu.be/4JNXuHBrW4Y Find The Purpose in Your Life]], a cheerful tune about the CMC trying to help Gabby with the seemingly impossible task of getting her cutie mark.

[[AC: Season 7]]
* "Bottled Up" gives us an extremely catchy [[https://youtu.be/8Ow5OhwrWCQ Best Friends Until the End of Time]]. Sure, it came out of nowhere, but it shows how the Mane 6 love each other and how far they came as friends.
* "Hard To Say Anything" gives us [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39xucw7ZztY Battle for Sugar Belle]], which is half a heartfelt country ballad by Big Mac, out of all ponies, and a pretty cool parody of modern pop songs by Feather Bangs, sung as they battle for Sugar Belle's attention. Even if both of them [[StylisticSuck start to butcher it by the end]], it's still very catchy.
* "The Perfect Pear" features [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOsTRTMvpsk You're In My Head Like a Catchy Song]], an ''extremely'' sweet love song courtesy of Pear Butter.
* "Fame and Misfortune" gives us [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PX9S21VEsS4 Flawless]], a catchy, upbeat song sung by the Mane 6 as they explain to the ponies of Equestria that, yes, they are flawed, but that only makes them stronger and everyone is flawed anyway.

[[AC: My Little Pony: The Movie]]
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ettpMLbeuA We Got This Together]], a group song in which Twilight's friends encourage her that they can do their part to prepare Equestria for the festival.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTx7OyIZRFg I'm the Friend You Need]], in which Capper charms the Mane Cast into trusting him whilst planning to double cross them for his own purposes.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FY9G0MJ4G4 Time to Be Awesome]], a song performed by Rainbow Dash to Captain Celaeno and her crew to rekindle their adventurous spirits after years of disheartening service to the Storm King.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayfd_lCLKB0 One Small Thing]], with which Pinkie Pie and Princess Skystar try and lift the sea ponies' spirits.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W599nooue4Y Open Up Your Eyes]], in which Tempest Shadow describes how little she values friendship and believes all of it to be a childish dream Twilight needs to wake up from.
* [[https://youtu.be/2aLmHoi8K4w Rainbow]], a song performed by Songbird Serenade (Music/{{Sia}}) at the end of the film as the Friendship Festival finally gets underway.

[[AC: Season 8]]
* "School Daze" gives us two songs:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWxkOlj8Vs4 School of Friendship]] starts out upbeat but turns uncertain and almost downtrodden later to perfectly illustrate how the school has a good start but goes sour when Twilight insists on going ''by the book''.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-khlTbH2H8 Friendship Always Wins,]] a beautiful and powerful song about how the reopened School of friendship is a place where everycreature is welcome to learn about friendship and how friendship itself transcends species differences.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qL6-GBiYr0M Your Heart Is in Two Places]] from "Surf and/or Turf" is a great duet for Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yr1mIqrYRKw We're Friendship Bound]] from "Road to Friendship" is an extremely upbeat and catchy tune about Starlight and Trixie's friendship, with a bit of banter and LeaningOnTheFourthWall to go along with it.
* In "Sounds of Silence" Autumn Blaze sings [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAhqxvgQYn0 A Kirin Tale]] and takes one's breath away, not only with her surprisingly uplifting melody but also with the powerful message to never let fear of bad things stop you from enjoying the good. The [[TriumphantReprise Triumphant]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZQGdH0tGMc Reprise]], in which Autumn expresses her joy, is just as awesome if not more so.

* The special starts with [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pq61n9T1TjY One More Day]], a high-energy piece (with the traditional Christmas song sound and instrumentation) where the Mane-6 and the whole town get involved.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-qSAV_Jni4 The True Gift of Gifting]] is ''filled'' with heartwarming lyrics and moments both set to an absolutely soulful melody to really drive home the point of the holiday special to the audience.

* [[https://youtu.be/3vuzWBB8ETY A Lotta Little Things]] and [[https://youtu.be/ZLEj_F6mWr0 A Lotta Little Things (Reprise)]] are both catchy tunes about the Royal sisters on their vacation gradually wearing each other down.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swjM3rNu5p4 The Place Where We Belong]] from "Uprooted" is the first time the Young Six get a song to themselves, and it's a gem of a song that expresses their emotions and new found unity in their quest to memorialize the Tree of Harmony.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-DtZ67Dad8 A Better Way to Be Bad]] from "Frenemies" is a catchy VillainSong sung by the LegionOfDoom (sans Grogar).
* Fittingly, "The Last Problem" has one last FriendshipSong celebrating all the good times throughout the years with [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eb-GsRpiezk The Magic of Friendship Grows.]] Fair warning, you might shed a tear for those that watched the series throughout the years.

[[AC:Season 1]]
* The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lz2YvNGB1Ys BGM]] for Rarity's second fashion show in "Suited for Success" is pretty awesome as the {{Genre Motif}}s really do suit each of them.
%%* The instrumental theme during Twilight's confrontation against the Ursa Minor. (Possibly a SuspiciouslySimilarSong to [[Film/TheEmpireStrikesBack Yoda's theme]]?)
* Pinkie Pie's {{Leitmotif}} in "Swarm of the Century" and "Cutie Mark Chronicles".
%%* Three examples are [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciPVor5f0OU Sonic Rainboom]], [[https://youtu.be/jlLvxuYBCfU Final Encounter with Nightmare Moon]], and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cy9gNE_vIE Pinkie Pie's Psychotic Break]].
%%* The Cutie Mark Crusaders' own BGM, most prominently heard during [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXNl2CXXWIA their montage from "Show Stoppers".]] Ironically, this is Will Anderson's [[CreatorBacklash least favorite]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mzcj8ZGP3q8#t=2091s piece]].
%%* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBWW1RT2BGQ Photo Finish's theme]].
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_pykAsjshg "Gilda's Rage"]]. A heavy metal song in a MLP cartoon.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96PtbyM44j4 Gilda's Threat]]. In the words of one of the commenters on the video: "This reminds of some of the music from [[VideoGame/CommandAndConquerRedAlert RA3]]".
%%* The music that plays during the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uC91IRpYQ4A celebration]] at the end of the first two episodes.
* The track that plays at the very start of the series, when Celestia narrates the background lore. "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jn_ND9sYe5k Once upon a time, in the magical land of Equestria]]..." You would be hard pressed to find anything more beautiful to set the scene for the adventure that is about to follow.

[[AC:Season 2]]
* The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYkygQVhepM BGM]] that plays during Applejack's corruption in the Grove of Truth is a masterpiece of Music/DannyElfman-style creepiness.
* The music that plays all through [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKCbeaxVii8# Applejack's restoration]], from around :38 to 1:00, especially when it shows her memory of running alongside Rainbow Dash. In fact, all the music during the restoration of the elements kind of makes you wish there was a trope page for Heartwarming Music.
* Enjoy the BGM to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHIZ7No5iOM the finale of The Return of Harmony,]] in all its ''Star Wars''-y goodness. The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxqc0xu7nQU Rainbow Dash chase scene]] has its similarities to a track from ''Empire Strike Back''.
* The BGM that plays from 17:00 to 18:00 in "Lesson Zero", when the entire town of Ponyville is fighting over Smarty Pants, is incredible. It's creepy, discordant, and surprisingly grandiose...befitting the climax of the episode and the height of Twilight's craziness.
* While only BackgroundMusic, the melodies in "The Mysterious Mare Do Well" can be quickly identified as {{Suspiciously Similar Song}}s to Danny Elfman's ''Film/Batman1989'' theme and Jerry Goldsmith's ''Film/TheShadow'' theme.
* Throughout Episode 10 [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E10SecretOfMyExcess "Secret Of My Excess"]], we can hear the unmistakable strains of ''[[WesternAnimation/{{Fantasia}} The Sorcerer's Apprentice]]''.
* The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gu5jqJ5IKNA BGM]] for [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E11FamilyAppreciationDay Granny Smith's story]] (beware, spoilers!) is just great, and quite deserving for one of the most pleasant surprises of the episode. In particular, the zap apple theme when fully orchestrated is reminiscent of Music/JamesHorner's score for ''WesternAnimation/TheLandBeforeTime''.
* The music cues when Rainbow Dash is finally bored enough to try reading from "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E16ReadItAndWeep Read It and Weep]]" borrow heavily from ''Film/TheNeverendingStory'' when Bastian is about to open the book for the first time.
* Something very similar to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjS_g3Syhu8 "The Lonely Man"]] (aka the "David Banner hitch-hiking" theme) from ''Series/TheIncredibleHulk1977'' appears in [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E19PuttingYourHoofDown Putting Your Hoof Down]] when Fluttershy realizes she's lost control, and slowly walks back to her cottage, to isolate herself from other ponies while she tries to fight the monster within. Said episode also contains a SuspiciouslySimilarSong to "Eye of the Tiger" during Iron Will's presentation.
* The BGM that plays during [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-Y3Q8vLJ0Y Twilight's securing of Ponyville]] in [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E20ItsAboutTime "It's About Time"]] is pretty catchy and fun. The music when [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEBfzKNH_Jc Future!Twilight appears to her earlier self]] is a spot-on take of [[https://youtu.be/komb7TaF-6o "I am the Doctor"]] theme from ''Series/DoctorWho''.
* [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E21DragonQuest "Dragon Quest"]] has some [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bx-EfT0AMuk awesome metal]] in the dragon's crater.
* The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBsOrNSXqgw training montage]] from [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E22HurricaneFluttershy "Hurricane Fluttershy"]] was pretty awesome. (You're the best! Around! Nopony is gonna keep you down!)
* The BackgroundMusic during the "hoovicure" scene during [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E23PonyvilleConfidential "Ponyville Confidential"]] Is a particularly subtle example. It's quiet and tense ambient music that you wouldn't otherwise notice. What makes it awesome is that it takes a scene that should be lighthearted and funny, and turns it oddly dark. It conflicts with each pony's musical cues, evoking the idea that everypony knows the gossip is wrong, but is ignoring those feelings.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4JvFtqfjmQ "Love Conquers All"]], the BackgroundMusic when Shining Armor and Cadence defeat the changelings with ThePowerOfLove. It is exactly as awesome as it needs to be.

[[AC:Season 3]]
* [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E1TheCrystalEmpirePart1 The Crystal]] [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E2TheCrystalEmpirePart2 Empire arc]] contains some truly amazing BGM. One that stands out as equal parts SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic and HellIsThatNoise is [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zU1A3FT7TgA King Sombra's Return.]] It sounds like it could be the start of an epic RPG boss theme, and the droning beat just screams OhCrap.
* The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0L8PFzjfTL0&t=1m5s background music]] when Luna makes her full appearance in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E6SleeplessInPonyville Sleepless in Ponyville]]". It's so alluring yet carries an air of mystery and fits Luna perfectly. Further from "Sleepless" the BG music cues when Rainbow Dash is telling Scootaloo about being scared, and at the scene at the waterfalls, borrows from "No One Is Alone" from the Sondheim musical ''Theatre/IntoTheWoods'' (a very appropriate song here).
* The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-u21o9UDcfk music when the Timberwolves attack]] in "Spike at your Service". It sounds very evocative of a normal RPG Battle theme.
* Counting the TriumphantReprise, "Magical Mystery Cure" had a grand total of ''seven'' songs. Special points go to "What My Cutie Mark is Telling Me", the [[TearJerker soft]] [[BSODSong and depressing]] "I've Got to Find A Way", and the AwesomeMomentOfCrowning with the coronation anthem "Behold Princess Twilight Sparkle."
** One of the ways the music in this episode is used so well is that Plot A - the swapped cutie marks - is set up, dramatized, and resolved through three separate songs with just a handful of spoken scenes. Compared to musical attempts that most television shows try to do (even in ''Friendship Is Magic'', such as "The Success/Failure Song" from "The Crystal Empire") where it reiterates plot points just made, this episode used the songs very economically for plot development instead of just exposition. That's partially why both Daniel Ingram and M.A. Larson are credited with lyrics for this - they needed to work hand in hand to make this happen.
** "A True True Friend", the highlight of the episode, would not sound as musically awesome if it wasn't so tightly connected to the cutie mark-switching plot and the order which with they have to be resolved - there's almost no other way for that song to build up from a quiet duet between Twilight and Fluttershy, have an amazing bridge sung by Rarity, and end on a CrowdSong with Pinkie's return, if the cutie marks were swapped in any other fashion.
** The music from the chorus is previewed when Twilight realizes what needs to be done to help her friends, and reprised when she figures out how to finish the original spell, which transitions to a dramatic musical climax as the Elements are activated.
** Not to mention the gloriousness that is Nicole Oliver's singing voice.

[[AC:Season 4]]
* Loved Luna's theme in "Sleepless in Ponyville"? Well, "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E20ForWhomTheSweetieBelleToils For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils]]" gives us [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xhJJtX7Li8 two]] [[http://youtu.be/MHrGuw9BgNE?t=47s new]] versions of the song and they are just as beautiful as the original.
* In "Testing Testing 1 2 3", the backing music during the segment showing what the rest of the town was doing during the second Twilight/Rainbow flying sequence is wonderfully evocative, capturing the spirit of "It takes a village..." aid that the town provides to Rainbow. The same music appears at the end of "Equestria Games", when Spike is giving his closing thoughts.
* In "Twilight's Kingdom - Part 2", we get not only the music heard during Twilight's battle with Tirek, but also the music heard during the Rainbow Power sequence, which is an epic rearrangement of the original ''My Little Pony'' jingle.

[[AC:Season 5]]
* Vinyl and Octavia's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rhpvx58iq00 musical duel/jam session]] from [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS5E9SliceOfLife "Slice of Life".]]
* The wonderfully smooth jazz BackgroundMusic from the FilmNoir styled [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS5E16RarityInvestigates "Rarity Investigates"]].

[[AC:Season 6]]
* Tender Tap's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q__gLBG1Mvs leitmotif]]. It seems restrained, then allows itself to become more hopeful before it crushes itself.
%%* "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS6E5GauntletOfFire Gauntlet of Fire]]" has some pretty epic BackgroundMusic.

* Alright, this is half-fan music, but this [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyfiT2nHN0g cover of "Jingle Bells"]] featuring Maddy Peters, the voice of Scootaloo, is pretty awesome.
* The official [[AlternativeForeignThemeSong Italian dub]] trades the 30-second opening for a full fledged ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FVqFN_Hn20 anime-style music video]]''. And it even has a full three-and-a-half minute [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RbvA7-VMUQ extended version]]. [[note]]This theme song was only used in the first season, later seasons use an Italian dub of the normal theme.[[/note]]
* Jumping at the chance of outdoing the Italians at their own game of putting an AlternativeForeignThemeSong and an anime-style music video on everything, Japan's first opening theme for the series, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzmoFYKR3i0 "Mirai START"]], is very catchy.
** The ending theme, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kG25PeqXiws "Kataomoi no Karaage (Amakuchi Hime)"]], is also cute and catchy.
** The second opening theme, [[https://youtu.be/-pqhpqxX3IQ "Magical Dai Dai Daibouken"]] follows up with its own catchy melody. It even {{Title Drop}}s the Japanese title "Tomadachi wa Mahou"!
** Suzu's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7F_eH--rZUU "Step By Step"]], the second ending theme, gives a more solemn feel to the Japanese dub, but it is "fabulous just the way it is".
** The third opening theme, [[https://youtu.be/v6ACXwSGPWg "Yumemiru! Shinjiru! Mirai Kanaete!"]], manages to be cooler than the previous ones with better graphics and an even more awesome, yet still catchy, song.
** The fourth opening theme [[http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1ywrn5_lucky-girl_music "Lucky Girl"]] by Silent Siren is even more catchy and upbeat.
* The English ThemeTuneExtended, which is included as a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8aX91KhUvw sing-along]] on the DVD ''The Friendship Express''.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTPqjKk_xCo Equestria Girls]].

* Some of Creator/TheHub's Season 3 [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vONPbjUjc-A commercials]] have an ''extremely catchy'' snippet from the Network Music Ensemble song [[http://www.myspace.com/networkmusicensemble/music/songs/giddy-up-84585455 "Giddy Up"]] in the background.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iEO6RG7gAM This]] production of the Cafeteria Song by a group of Cosplayers called Scarlet Project. The cool part? At 2 minutes and 37 seconds into the video, a ton of audience members (and even event staff) jump up on stage and start joining in.
* In 2015, Hasbro released an MLP Christmas album, featuring a couple of vaguely Christmas-ish songs (including [[https://youtu.be/hBSu6XO7caU an extended version of the Hearthwarming Eve song]]), but each of the main characters also gets to sing their own version of a real, classic song or carol with their own lyrics and personal style. For example we get [[https://youtu.be/x4y_L6U0wzE a bouncy version]] of "Twelve Days of Christmas" by Pinkie, listing all the ridiculous gifts her friends got her, [[https://youtu.be/j240380dbgs a rock version]] of "Jingle Bells" about Rainbow giving her friends a sleigh ride (much to their absolute terror), [[https://youtu.be/b1EfeG9EvGs a jazz rendition]] of "Jolly Old Saint Nicholas" by Spike, and [[https://youtu.be/XjkPH6sZM_o a hauntingly beautiful rendition]] of "Auld Lang Syne" by Applejack (and backup from Applebloom) about [[MyParentsAreDead honouring family who aren't with them anymore.]]
